I rmbr you posting a while back that 911 isn't queerbaiting. And at that time I agreed. Just found out about this though-

This is DEFINITELY queerbaiting, acc to me. Thoughts?
link
honestly i mostly just find this hilarious lmao
#actual answer: i feel like people are just looking for ways to think they're being queerbaited at this point#and if you're searching for reasons to be disappointed in something you're probably gonna find some#i'd still hesitate to call this queerbaiting bc (as i've said before) this is a marketing scheme designed specifically to manipulate#potential queer viewers while not driving away conservative ones#which is just entirely pointless for a show that already has very prominent queer representation#bc conservative viewers who don't want to see queer rep would already not be watching this show#and like i've seen people argue that oh they're okay with hen bc she's a lesbian and henren was established from the beginning#and oh they're okay with michael bc blah blah whatever#but you could come up with arguments like that for any show#and then you're just circling back around to 'it's queerbaiting bc my favourite ship isn't canon'#so really this just feels like nothing to me#this is the same kinda thing other shows do with straight ships#ALSO not for nothing but another key thing about queerbaiting is the 'no intention of follow through'#which unfortunately is impossible to know for sure until there is concrete canon proof that what was promised is never happening#or the show is over#so 🤷♀️#nyms asks#queerbaiting#911 fox

I have fun headcanons for a shy, kind MC who secretly hides the fact that they’re a musician and they write their own songs. Maybe they were in a rock band in their original world. Maybe the MC wrote a live song for the Yandere of your choice and they overheard them singing it alone. I was thinking maybe Malleus or Idia personally but it’s up to you
im gonna talk about both so yes!
~Musical!mc~
Yan!Idia x mc
Yan!Malleus x mc
Warning: slight hints of NSFW, yandere, stalking, mention of death
~~~~~
Idia
he'll totally find out with his hidden cameras.
He would be playing a game and hears music, but not from his game? takes off his headphones and looks for what's playing music? Like we haven't done that before.. pff- He finds that he accidentally left one of the camera sound on but he's not disappointed with what he finds.
there you are, singing your heart out, with notebook and instrument in hand. you looked heavenly. he felt like you were a siren that was calling for him.
he immediately snaps out of it and searches something up... you kinda look like an idol from an anime he’s been obsessed with recently. i mean, you might have to clean up a bit and he very likely has all the things you need for your idol look. plus if he doesn't have it, it'll just buy it or make it for you. Its perfect!
you're perfect..
he just needs to have you, preserve you. kinda like one of his figures in his room.
but before he comes up with a plan, he wants to hear you sing more. he'll likely record your songs, your voice, hey, even your mistakes. he loves them so much.
bet, he has it as his ring tone for just him to hear.
depending on when this discovery happens, before or during chapter 6 is when he takes mc.
if its before, he'll probably wait and get as much information on you as he can. plus more recordings of your voice, you likely be scared when he has you in his hands. like a scared little bird, who's wings are getting clipped.. another reason to wait, your friends will notice when you are gone. overblot after overblot. you poor baby, that's why he has to preserve you, its dangerous out there. so many nasty person with there gross thoughts and slimy hands. you're one to talk...
if its during, then ya, he'll grab you. of course keep you away from these monsters but close to him. he'll likely keep you in a room alone for a bit to take care of those other students but whenever he has free time, hell stop by and visit. he'll show you all the recordings of your music and gives you your notebook and instrument because he doesn't want his personal idol to be so lonesome. sing your heart out like you do when you "think" you're alone. its the same here as it is when you're out there. you singing and him... listening.
it'll probably take a while for you to get use to him so he wont push you to wear the idol outfit but be warn when or if you do, he's not going to let you go. You might not be able to use your legs for a while.
~~~~~
Malleus
He'd very likely hear it at night on his strolls.
It'll be the dead of night, he'll be looking at the stars and moon shining brightly. then, with his fae ears, he hears a meloty. he told at first it were the other smaller fae in the woods by the Ramshackle dorm. but it was so enchanting that he couldn't help but walk to it. he felt like the sleeping princess to the spindle.
when he finally identify the voice, he was surprised to find the NRC's perfect.
they were looking at the stars with him and he just felt his heart strings pull but he didn't understand this feeling. whenever he’s confused and needed guidance, he'd turn to Lillia.
Lillia explained to him that maybe this small little human has enchanted him with a spell and he HAS to confront them to find out. Cause he'll totally play match maker. So he did.
the next day, he confronts you about it. he starts with telling you that you're voice is enchanting and you've put him under a spell that he cant undo. he asked what type of magic in your world that's so powerful that he cant understand.
You’d likely laugh on how silly it was, you and a magic spell?
you explain to him that you didn't put a spell on him and that you were just working on your song since you weren't tired that night and you had time for yourself, which for the perfect its very rare to have some quiet time.
he understand, kinda but not really, and requested to hear more.
I'm going off that mc is stage fright shy so they polite say no. which didn't feel right to malleus. i feel like he’s a little spoiled and stubborn so say no to him of all people is weird. but that's okay, its not like you need to know he’s there listening anyway.
he’d likely find out when you practice your songs and makes a schedule. and when you don't follow that schedule, lets just say.. you didn't know it’ll be storming today??
this is also all before he finds out you’ll likely be leaving soon. no.. you cant leave. his song bird CANT leave. if such a thing happens well then, all of twisted wonderland will have to burn. and you don't want that right?
he’ll have you in a big cage, with a small window for light. the cage will be held high up and below you is bushes of bushes of thorns. they look very unpleased. but don't worry, even with the tiny window for light you’ll be surrounded with your favorite flowers and the comfiest bed you've ever seen. anything you need or want will be brought to you say long as you do one small thing for malleus.
sing.
and if you don't want to? he’ll give you a reason why you cant use your voice...

Songcord
Tuk was the one who realized that Spider didn't have a songcord
He had been around for a while at this point, having become a constant around the time Kiri learned to walk. She doesn't understand why her Mama hates him and says to stay away - Lo'ak and Kiri like him a lot and they have more fun chasing him then Neteyam! Neteyam is too fast and Spider is her size.
He's nice and lets her climb him and carries her even though her big siblings say she's getting too big - which, if Spider can carry her she is most certainly not too big - and plays her games while the others go to their training or apprenticeships
Sometimes he even brings her feathers and pretty things for her hair!
So yeah, when she gets to have her ceremony and holds her songcord for the first time, she's beyond concerned to find out that Spider doesn't have one
While they’re little, the cords hang in their hut until they're old enough to decide what to do with them. As it is, Lo'ak wants to braid his in his hair and Neteyam wants to put it on his bow like his mother. But there's a gap, one thats probably accidental, and she knows Spider should have his there
So she makes it her mission to be the best little sister ever and make one for him
After-all, if no one else is gonna do it then she, a craft master, is most certainly qualified
Grandmother makes most of the cords in the early stages so she inconspicuously asks for the twine to start it and how to make a bead. She asks why she needs it and Tuk tells her it's for her mother. Grandmother looks hopeful at that and gives it to her easily so Tuk knows she agrees with her. It's not till years later that she'll realize that Grandmother thought her mother had a realization...or another pregnancy. But she likes to think the first.
But...making beads is harder than she thought
She uses bone she found near the cooking fires - which, gross, Spider better like it - but whittling it is hard with only sharp pieces of the bone and rocks she found
The bead she makes is jagged and not very round and she almost cut herself a dozen times cause it's sharper than it looks but finally she has something that resembles the first beads on her cord. The knots are easier and she adds it to the start with pride. She adds a little of his blue paint cause it's his and that way it starts with him and her. Right as it should.
But even her cord has more than one bead.
Making this one was hard but Spider is her big brother and she can do it - besides, the look on her siblings faces when she presents his gift will be worth it.
So she starts wandering the outskirts of high camp with the cord on her belt. While she searches, she hums the first chords she can add. A happy little tune with a dramatic flourish; perfect so he remembers her when he sings it.
However, finding anything of use near the camp is proving futile. Nothing she finds is strong enough for a bead and the feathers are muddy and gross.
With her fathers determination, she sneaks past the bushes lining camp and into the forest
She makes it approximately 5 feet before Neteyam scoops her up.
Neteyam groans and Tuk finds herself propped up on chest, legs locked around his hips. She whines and squirms but unfortunately Neteyam is a seasoned big brother and there's no success in her attempted escape.
"Tuktuk, what do you think you're doing? You know you're not allowed outside of camp." The look on his face is disappointed and her tummy twists at the sight, but she has a good reason!
"I needed better bead stuff, the stuff in camp is yucky or is too hard." She whines but it isn't until he responds that she realizes her mistake.
"Bead supplies? Tuk what do you need bead supplies for?"
And so the surprise is busted
But...maybe she could get help
"..Spider doesn't have a songcord. I have one, you have one, Lo' has one, and Kiri has one...but he doesn't...so I'm making it. But I only have one bead."
And Neteyam doesn't know how to respond to that
Spider has been around since he could walk, they were together while Jake and Neytiri visited Kiri in her incubator, he realistically should have several beads by now. His chord should have his birth, his family, his first bow, the feather of his first kill...but Spider isn't Na'vi. He's not of the People...but it's Spider
Mom really wouldn't like it
But...it's Spider
And so he finds himself snatching Kiri's arm while she leaves her lessons. Covering her mouth when she shrieks and Tuk grabs her leg. Which, he doesn't really know why she did that, but it's Tuk. He pulls her between the huts while the other kids move on and mumbles his apology.
"Tuk, 'Teyam, what in Ewya's name are you doing?" She hisses, ears bent back, and eyes narrow. Her tail swishes angrily behind her and Neteyam realizes belatedly he could have done this better.
"We need your help. It-It's for Spider, we're making him a songcord. Tuk made him a bead but...we need help making more. You work with Grandmother, can you help us?"
And if Neteyam knows anything, its his sisters weakness for their oldest friend.
It's a long pause while she processes but soon, she relaxes, and he feels the tension leave his shoulders. Her tail slows and she takes a deep breath before she replies; "..fine. But if we do this, we all do this. Get Lo'ak and meet me behind Grandmothers. Quietly. She's out with Mother but I don't want to explain this before its done...you know Mom will be pissed, right?"
And Neteyam does...damn he does, but he nods.
With determination, they're off.
And so that is how he finds himself in a clumsy circle with his siblings surrounding him. Bone and wood are in the center of their circle, small paints with them, and a jumble of small blades. Kiri has seen Grandmother do this before and so she leads them through making their beads with a different ease than Tuk found by herself
Tuk spends the time weaving feathers into the bottom of the chord and adding bits of paint to the finished beads. They make a bags worth, albeit a small bag, for Spider too. He'll need more. Their beads by no means look to par with their own but they try their best. Each painting and carving with as much patience as they can muster.
It takes them the rest of the day but soon they have a small pile ready. Kiri takes the pieces and spends the next day tying the knots and attaching them as secure as a 10 year old can.
It's time consuming but in a few days of work between apprenticeships, meals, and whatever else may keep them within sight of the adults, they have a songcord
Its messier than theirs and small, the knots aren't as tight and the symbolism in it is meager. They wanted to keep it happy but without parents to record his beginnings, its small knots of Spider growing up in basecamp with the first beads being the familial bead they each made of themselves. They added feathers from some of their favorite varieties to the bottom and, in place of training memories, added times he won a game or did something cool. It's different but so is their brother.
They decide to present it to him together, since it was something they all made. Normally he would have a ceremony for it but they decide that his could be them.
They steal him away in the evening, right before it's time for him to head back to camp. They want him alone so the adults can ruin the moment; while some of the younger adults have accepted Spider into their ranks, they don't know how the older warriors would respond.
Tuk is the one who catches him and pulls him into the treeline. They settle into the clearing where they usually play and, anxiously, they give Tuk the cord. She walks forward and nervously holds it out. The older trio sit in nervous silence as they wait for Spider to respond.
"I...guys what is this?" Spiders face is bright red and they'd worry if it weren't for the smile trying to win over his face.
"It..its your cord, Bro. Tuk said you don't have one so...we made it." Lo'ak responds first and scoots closer, Tuk at his side. "I-I made the first one and then I got the feathers and the pretty rocks on the bottom. Kiri and 'teyam and Lo' made most of the beads but I helped paint 'em. The bag has more for later cause Kiri knows how to knot 'em in. And...And we made the song too.." Tuk grins, nervous but clearly excited. She turns and runs to her sister who begins to hum
Kiri closes her eyes, humming softly the little song her siblings made for him. Spiders grinning at this point, 12 years old and teary eyed. He scoots closer and pulls the siblings into a hug as she finishes.
"Thank you, thank you-" He cuts himself off laughing, the others joining in. There they stay until eclipse is waning over their heads and time is up.
Spider braids the cord into his hair and it's with him when Quaritch catches him. They don't know its significance to take if from him but he clings to it in his cell, humming the song to himself as he waits for help thats not coming.

"So are we gonna talk about the real reason you avoided me for so long?"
The moment that question left his mouth, your blood ran cold. You didn't want him to know you knew. You didn't want him to know it made you jealous. "It doesn't matter anymore" shifting under him to get off the couch.
"Doesn't matter anymore?" He questioned.
He sits up and follows you around your home. You try to busy yourself cleaning things that were already clean. "It doesn't matter anymore because I'm over it, I forgive you." You smile sarcastically at him.
His eyes go wide, and he looks even more confused. "What the fuck is there for me to be apologizing for?" He said in disbelief.
Moving past him, he's still following behind as you head to your room. Searching for some clean clothes and getting ready for your shower. He stands in the doorway, not letting you leave.
Crossing his arms over his chest. "You owe an explanation at least give me some type excuse."
Going to speak, you can't find the words. You so badly want to tell him you truly do. This whole situation has been eating away at you. You laid in bed crying for days over a man you just started seeing privately. You thought you were the only one he was seeing. Eddie was sweet to you and always good at conversation.
This is the reason why it was so hard to move past if he was an asshole you wouldn't have cared. With him, it was different when it was just the two of you alone he made you feel like you were the only girl in the world. He didn't just feel like a secret lover but a friend.
Tears slowly fall down your cheeks, and you look down at your feet. "It doesn't matter anymore,okay." You say with your shakey voice just barely above a whisper.
"Hey, look, I don't know what's going on with you, but you can talk to me about anything." He reassured you hooking his finger under your chin to look you in the eyes.
"I'm always gonna be here for you when you need me." Smiling at you, he gives you a soft kiss on your forehead.
Nodding, you tell him you're going to take a shower he stays there for a moment. You think he wants to say something else but decides against it. He gets himself together and tells you he wants to hang out at his place again soon. You agreed you want to as well even though you know you shouldn't. He makes you feel special like none else has before. No one has cared for you the way he has. You didn't tell him about your date you'll be going on in a few days. Not that he'd probably care anyway since he sees plenty of women when you're not around.
Finally, it's Friday the day you have your date with Steve. You haven't heard much from Eddie since Sunday. You were expecting a note from him any day now since he told you he wanted to hang out again.
Every time you came home, you felt excitement in your stomach only to be disappointed when there was nothing taped to your door. You forget about all of that, and just focus on your date with Steve. He was so sweet and handsome you met him at the local cafe.
He asked you out after bumping into you and spilling coffee on each other. Your mind still wanders back to Eddie and thinking about who he's been with since being with you. You want to cry again at the thought of him making someone else feel special the same way he did with you. Clearing your throat, you put on a nice short dress and put some of your hair back away from your face.
Steve's car pulls up at your front door, and he honks the horn for you. You rush downstairs and run outside. Jumping in the passenger seat, you think about how Eddie would come knocking at your door, not honk his horn at you. You try to stop comparing Steve to Eddie so much, but you can't help it. Steve took you to a nice dinner outside of your town and then wanted to take you dancing too, and that's when everything went to hell.
You and Steve walk into this old dingy night club. The atmosphere was dark and clouded with smoke, the only lighting being red and dim. Everyone crowding around you dancing and grinding on each other. Steve finds you guys a little table to sit at, and he heads to get you both drinks. What you didn't know was Eddie was there too with a bunch of his people.
He was sitting in a booth far back facing the dance floor. He had two women on his side, nuzzling his neck with a bunch of others at his table. The two women were from the strip club up the road from his motel room. He was very familiar with them since they would give him private dances together and then go back to his room later for some more fun. The three of them drunk with Eddie snorting coke off their tits and asses before fucking them both.
-
Steve finally came back with your drinks and a pint of beer as well. You always have been a light weight, so when you guzzled down your first drink and went for the beer, Steve tried to get you to slow down. That's when the DJ started playing Nine Inch Nails over the stereo system. You pulled Steve up and dragged him to the dance floor. Stumbling, he catches you and holds you tight against him as you both sway to the beat.
Eddie stops paying attention to his dates for a split second to see you both dancing. His face drops, and jaw clenches. His fists ball into knots, and he just watches both of you. Especially you not taking one look away he's making sure Steve's hands don't wander around and touch places only eddie feels entitled to touch. You pull away from Steve and tell him you have to use the bathroom. He nods and tells you he'll be waiting at your table when you get back.
Making your way through the crowd of people to get to the bathroom, you have no idea Eddie is on your tail. Opening the door to the single person bathroom, you feel someone push into you. Turning around to bitch at whoever just pushed you you're face to face with a certain someone you didn't expect to see tonight. Your mouth gapes open, and your eyes widen in shock. Panicked you try to move past him and run away, but he just blocks the door and locks it.
"What are you doing here, honey?" He asked you squinting his eyes in anger.
He looks pissed and you've never seen him like this before. You won't lie in other circumstances. You would have found it hot, but right now, it scared you. "Im here with my date." You tell him matter of factly. He laughs at you and pushes his tongue to the inside of his cheek, trying to fight back a rude remark toward you.
"Well, tell your little date you're leaving." He told you as if you were sure to listen to him.
"No, I'm not. I'm having fun." You told him standing your ground.
He laughed again at you and pushed you up against the bathroom door a little too roughly. His breath smelled of clove cigarettes and bourbon. There was a white powdery substance on his nostrils. He eyes were bloodshot, and pupils were dilated. You've never seen him like this before, and it honestly shook you up a bit. He pulls back slightly and looks at what you're wearing. You feel small under his gaze, looking quickly away, worried he might insult your appearance because he's angry. He just smiles that sweet smile he always gives you.
"You look really pretty tonight, honey." He says as he rubs your arms up and down, trying to ease your nerves.
He leans in closer to your face now. "Go tell him now that you're leaving, or I'll do it instead." His voice is laced with so much warning, but you don't care.
"No, I'm not leaving. I'm staying here with him." Stomping your foot down at him.
Eddie laughs at you again, but this time, he's not laughing because it's funny. He's laughing because he's getting angrier. Taking a deep breath in and out, trying to calm himself down.
"Sweetheart, go tell him you're leaving. I won't ask again, or I WILL TELL HIM MYSELF!" he tried to stay calm but lost his composure and screamed at you.
Jumping at his reaction, you turn away to the side again and begin crying. Rolling his eyes, he kisses your head and pulls you in for a hug. You try to resist but eventually give up, hoping he'll stop acting like this and go back to whoever he's with. He kisses your hair and smooths it down.
"Are you going to go tell him?" He said more softer now.
"No, Eddie, can you please just stop? I'm allowed to go have fun with someone you see other people all the time." you argue with him.
He pulls away from the hug and doesn't look at you but instead swings the bathroom door open, storming out. You stay there still in shock at his personality shift. That's when you realize where Eddie is going and you try to get to him before he gets to Steve, but it's too late.
-
Eddie stomped over to your table and started asking him questions immediately. Steve was polite and nice to Eddie, which pissed him off even more. Eddie asked him about his date with you, and at first, Steve was confused as to why this strange guy was asking him about his date with you. Eddie lied and said he's a family friend who looks out for you. Steve wasn't dumb. He saw Eddie push his way into the bathroom with you. Being a smart ass Steve started to tell him his plans for the date and what you did earlier.
"Well, I took her out to eat at a nice restaurant. Then I took her here to do some dancing and then I'm gonna take her home." He told Eddie innocently.
"Aaand?" Eddie questioned him, hoping to get the answer he's looking for.
"And I'm gonna give her nice long kiss goodbye.....in the morning." Steve said with a shit eating grin on his face.
Eddie began to laugh again for a moment, and so did Steve. That was until he threw his head all the back and headbutt your dates nose. Once you reached them, you tried to check on Steve, but Eddie just yanked you by the elbow and escorted you outside to his car. He yanked the passenger side open and shoved you in.
"I'm going back inside to tell some people i was with. I'm leaving. Stay here." He demanded you, and you obeyed.
Eddie came back out 10 minutes later and got in his car and pulled out, heading to his place. The car ride was painfully quiet, and the buzz you had was gone. You felt like you were going to have a panic attack after seeing the way Eddie acted tonight. He's never talked to you like that before. He's never scared you like this before.
Eddie has always been so kind and gentle towards you, but tonight was different. Not only did he scream at you, but he hit Steve in the nose, probably breaking it. That's when you lost it and started to break down next to him but kept your eyes out the window. He looks over at you and puts his hand on your leg to help you calm down. Moving it away from him, he grips it harder. Neither one of you speaking to the other until he pulls up in front of his room door. He gets out and opens your door for you.
"Get out of the car we need to talk." He still sounded pissed off.
"No, I'm staying right here. I don't want to talk to you." You tried to sound angry but your voice came out broken.
Rolling his eyes, he undid your seat belt and yanked you out by the arm, dragging you to his room. He slams his door shut, and you move far enough away from him. He finally notices how scared you are of him and calms himself down a bit.
"I'm sorry for yelling at you earlier, and I'm sorry for yanking you around it won't happen again, I promise. " His voice sounds softer this time, and he puts his hands up. He sounded sincere, but that doesn't mean you still weren't shaken up.
"We still need to talk" He continued
"You're right. I do see other people and do fuck around a lot. When I'm not with you, I'm with someone else, but I don't think of them like I do you." He finally confessed.
You go to speak up, but he puts his hand up, stopping you so he can continue. "I fucked up and I didn't realize what I had until I saw it being taken away from me." "What I did isn't right but I'm selfish and I'm not sharing you." You sat on the edge of his bed listening to him. Eddie, confessing to you what you already knew somehow hurt more. Maybe because your mind can make things seem worse than they really are, but to hear him actually tell you just made it all real.
"That is very selfish of you. You don't own me. I can go on dates too, and just because I go on a date doesn't mean I'm having sex with them either." You tell him trying to make your point across.
He just put his head in his hands and then pounds on the wall in his room. "I'll stop fucking around if you stop going on dates then." He tried to bargain with you.
"I'll forget their numbers. I'll stop talking to them. I'll do anything you want me to do." He sounded so desperate.
Moving, he goes to sit on his knees in front of you on the floor. He grabs your hands, and you snatch them away.
"I swear to God, I only want you, I promise." You hate it when he looks at you with those big brown eyes. He looks so lost and scared. Once again, he's got you in the palm of his hand.
"Okay, fine. I pray you keep your word and you prove to me that you meant every word you just said." Nodding his head rapidly, he takes your hands into his again and kisses them.
He moves to sit next to you, and he leans over and begins kissing you softly. Breaking the kiss, you remembered him leaving you in the car to tell some "people" he's leaving. You had a feeling it was someone he was going to fuck tonight if he hadn't seen you.
"Who did you go say good by to at the club earlier?" You questioned him.
"Just some friends." He said in between kisses.
Pushing him away, you look at him, and that's when you notice a small stain of lipstick on his collar. Looking back at him with anger in your eyes. You can't believe he's still being so vague after confirming that he does fuck around.
"That's not good enough. You got to know who i was with tonight, so tell me who you were you with." Now, it was your turn to show anger like he did.
"They are-well, they were just some girls that work at the strip club up the road. I hook up with them from time to time." He looks almost ashamed to be confessing that.
"Really, and who else do you see?" Getting braver now, you demand to know everything.
He told you about the blonde girl and how she's married but will come to see him often. The girls who work at the club and a few housewives in town that he also used to visit after church. Sitting there taking it all in, you realize this man is not who you originally thought he was. Interrupting him speaking because he was still going on and on about all the people he was sleeping with. You felt like this would take all night listening to him tell you all but his conquests.
"I want to take a shower before bed." He looks over at you and asks if he can join you. Telling him "yes" both of you head to the bathroom and strip off your clothes. You washed each other off and made out under the water until it ran cold on you both.
Neither one of you bothered to put on any clothes after you got out. You race to jump under the covers to get warm. Eddie joins you under the blanket, and you lay in his arms for a few moments before kissing again.
You move to lay on top of him and continue to kiss, moving from his mouth down to his jaw and neck. You lick and suck at his jugular vein, leaving a nice purple bruise there for everyone to see. You start grinding down on him feeling his happy trail rub against your clit. Your mouth moves back up to Eddie's, and he moans in your kiss.
Still grinding against him Eddie grabs his cock in his hand and tries to align it with your entrance. When you notice what he's doing, you stop your movements and get off of him, causing him to whine out.
"Come back, please." He begged you.
"Nope." You say teasing him.
He pouts and starts rubbing his length up and down. You move and spread your legs wide so he can get a better look at you spread open. He bites his lower lip and presses his thumb down on his tip, smearing the precum leaking out. He's breathing heavy, and you take your two fingers to spread your wet folds open wider some more for him. "Fuuuck" He says under his breath.
"Please baby let me fuck you. I can make you feel so good, like I always do, please." He begged almost sounding like he's on the verge of crying.
"I don't know you sure you don't want to call one of your friends instead?" You mocked him.
"Nope, I want you. I only want you. I only want to make you feel good no one else, baby, please." He begged, throwing his head back in frustration.
Biting your lower lip, you take pity on him, and you let him have you. He gets up fast and grabs you the by ankle, pulling you closer to him. You let out giggle until you feel Eddie drag his cock up and down in between your wet pussy over and over again. He dips he head and begins to softly kiss and nip at your neck. You throw your head back to give him easier access.
Eddie continues his movements for a few more seconds before he locks your hands with his pinning them down to the bed. He readjusts his hips and slowly sinks his cock inside your entrance spreading you open around him. He stills for a moment, giving you time to adjust before he's pulling out and slamming back into. The feeling almost took your breath away, and Eddie is still attacking your throat with his mouth.
His hips are slamming into you harshly with the sound of your bodies slapping into each other. You hook your legs around his lower back, causing him to go deep inside you, hitting that spot inside you just right. Eddie leans back and takes a break from your neck. You whine out, already missing the warmth of his mouth on your skin.
"Shh baby, I got you, don't worry," He whispered
He lets go of your hands, putting one of his on the small of your waist while the other presses down on your lower tummy while his cock is still pushing into you. You cry out Eddie's name and cover your face in your hands. "Ooh, don't stop, please." You begged him.
He moves your hands away from your face, telling you to watch him fuck you. He sits up on kneeling on the bed and grabs one of your legs to lay against his chest. He began fucking you harder this time while licking and kissing at your ankle.
"You like that baby? Feels so good, doesn't it?" His voice sounds shakey.
You can tell he's getting close to cuming his thrusting is becoming sloppy, and he's throwing his back moaning so loud he doesn't care who hears him tonight.
"I'm so close Eddie don't stop, please," you cry out.
"I know you're close.I can feel you clenching me baby you feel so fucking good. fuuuuck your so tight." He grunted out to you.
Clenching tighter and tighter around him, his grunts and moans turned more into soft whiney whimpers. Pulling his hand away from your waist he licks his finger and starts rubbing your clit. Your legs start to twitch, and you clench around him harder this time. He continues rubbing your clit until you throw your back and your body begins to shake. You come hard around him, throwing your head back and yelling out his name.
Eddie doesn't take long to come either with a few more strokes he pulls out quickly and starts jerking himself until he's coming on your stomach and chest again. Collapsing beside you, both of you are trying to catch your breath. You're still shaking, and he moves to grab a tissue to clean you off like he did last time. Rolling over onto your stomach, you reach up and give him a quick kiss on the lips.
"You're still not off the hook. I want you to apologize to Steve tomorrow." He looks at you, surprised.
"I will not, he took my girl out on a date and planned to fuck her too" raising your eyebrows to him.
"Fine, I'll apologize, but I won't mean it." He sounded so immature. You laughed at him and started kissing him on the lips again.
Eddie pulls you closer to him, and you notice the hickey on his neck. Panic takes over when you realize you are covered in them, too. They can't know what you guys did together. This was against the rules. Eddie made vows, and now everyone will probably know what you guys did. He notices the worried look on your face and immediately clocks it.
"Don't worry about the hickey we'll cross that bridge when we get there." He tried to soothe you.
You just pray that no one in town puts two and two together, or will they?

My older brother has a list of chemicals he's eaten, including lab grade vinegar (our science teacher was so disappointed)
Also, I totally get it Roman, nor only do I ramble when I get excited, but my god that dinner sounds good
P.S. I would not have expected Logan to say that
-bubble
"Your brother is a man I'd like to speak with" Remus says.
"Lab grade vinegar sounds horrible to ingest" Dee says as he's getting out of the car.
"Is anyone coming with me or am I to drive back alone?" he asks.
Virgil gets out too, "I'll come with ya if you're gonna be so lonely~" he teases.
Dee pushes Virgil's chest when he walks up to him, "oh no no, I wouldn't want to put you out or anything babe, don't go on lil'ol me's account" Dee teases right back.
"It's no trouble really, c'mere" Virgil grabs Dee's hand, lifts it from his chest to twirl the smaller one around into his arms to plant a raspberry on his cheek.
Dee yelps out a laugh, "okay okay! You can come with me ya goober!"
"That's what I thought" Virgil smirks.
Remus is amusidly watching the scene between his boyfriends, then he looks at Thomas in the back seat, "well, it looks like it's you and me for a little bit bite size."
Thomas giggles at the nickname and chomps his teeth at Remus.
"Yeah, you get it! But ya gotta wait for a hot sec kiddo, I gotta put an eye in!"
Thomas looks puzzled, "issat why you have your eye closed?"
Remus nods, "yep! There's no ball in there right now! Wanna see?"
Thomas' own eyes go wide at the thought but he nods very slowly.
Remus lifts his eyelid up to show the inner of his hollowed socket.
If possible Thomas' eyes get even wider when he sees it but he doesn't look scared just unsure.
"I've got lots of different eyes, you wanna choose one for me?"
Thomas head nods so quickly Remus is surprised he didn't give himself whiplash, he laughs at the child's reaction and hops out of the car to search in the tent for his eye case.
As that was hapening, Virgil and Dee are also searching - for Logan's car keys cause the door is locked and they can't really drive it if they don't have the keys.
"Where the fuck did he put them?" Virgil murmurs glancing around in the tent that is not his.
They don't really want to touch anything and mess it up, both Roman and Logan can be a bit touchy about their stuff.
"Probably in his bag" Dee says.
Virgil nudges him, "okay then you rummage in teach's bag."
"No, I don't think I'll be doing that."
"What why not? He asked you specifically to drive, it should be fine."
Dee hesitates but can't find a good reason to not to, "fine" he sighs and grabs Logan's bag.
When he unzips it they can see that it's very organized and everything seems to have a specific place.
"Well, at least they won't be hard to find" Dee says.
And hard to find they were not, they were found laid in a small side pocket.
Along with the keys they take all of their phones (they didn't even think of phones as children) and for good measure Logan's bag.
They walk back to the buggy as Remus is leaning the chair down to get to the back seat; he's holding his eye case.
They gather with him and watch as he presents them to Thomas.
"Which one should I wear today buddy? Remus asks.
Thomas bounces a little in his seat looking at all his choices and when he spots the one he wants he enthusiastically point to it.
"That one that one!"
"Ah the evil triangle demon, you got good taste kid! I should get you to design one for me!"
Thomas smiles wide at the praise and shouts out: "googley eye!"
Remus smacks his hands down on the seat, "that's an awesome idea!"
"Yay!" Thomas claps in joy.
~~~
Logan, Roman and Patton are back at Antha's house waiting for their ride to get here.
It's a nice day out so they don't mind waiting.
Logan however is trying to pry the lid from the well.
Patton is fretting about this.
Roman is just watching.
"It is nice to see our viewers have good taste" Roman boasts, "that dinner is something I long to do one day and it shall be done eventually."
"And yeah Logan when we first met would make unintentional innuendos and not understand that he said them, but now he loves to use them against us -me in particular- and that's alright, it's cute."
[ID: The cover of "The Vulcan Academy Murders" by Jean Lorrah, followed by excerpts. The cover features Spock holding up a ray gun to a green amphibian alien. The excerpts are as follows:
1.
Kirk recalled that all male Vulcans were married had to be—and glanced at Spock. His First Officer however, was very busy inspecting the almost untouched wine in his glass. Lest Sarek take up the
2.
Kirk had been given Spock's room (underlined) and McCoy the guest room in Sarek's house---a house far from anything Kirk would ever have imagined as the home Spock had grown up in. He had envisioned either a sterile, unadorned "environment," or a castlelike ancestral residence. Instead, the house on the outskirts of ShiKhar was a single-family dwelling. The archi
3.
He remembered forcing Spock to control his emotions when he was five, and his schoolfellows tauntedhim for being "different." Under his father's tutelage, Spock had refused to cry when the others shut him out of their games, calling him "Earther" and " half-breed." Amanda had hidden her tears from their son, and Sarek had hidden his anger. Or had he? Perhaps I directed it at my son instead, he realized. He had intended to prepare Spock for whatever lack of acceptance he would face in life. And the message Spock received was that his own father did not accept him as he was, had to mold him into something he deemed acceptable.
4.
"A computer cannot lie," said Spock. "Nevertheless, this one is giving false information." "Why don't you try playing chess with it?" came a voice from the doorway. Sarek turned to find Leonard McCoy, bouncing on his toes and grinning.
5.
his eyes. "What dost thou know of Surak?" she asked finally—but her voice spoke more of perplexity than challenge. "What everyone knows: he was the founder of Vulcan philosophy. I know he is a personal hero to my friend Spock, the way Abraham Lincoln, from human history, is to me. That alone tells me he's worth
6.
"You are not only anything, Spock. You are more not less, because of your dual heritage. It is fruitless to wish now that I had made that clearer to you when you were a child." "You wanted me to be Vulcan." "That is true," Sarek agreed. "And you are Vulcan, representative of IDIC in its fullest sense." Spock studied his father. "You never put it to me that way. The last time you and I spoke as father and son, before I went to Star Fleet Academy, you reminded me of how important it was that I think of myself as Vulcan. Do you remember your words, Father?" Sarek remembered. "I am Vulcan by birth. Your mother is Vulcan by choice. You are Vulcan by both birth and choice." "And then I disappointed you by making a different choice." Sarek searched his memory, trying to recover the logical reasons for what now seemed completely irrational. Finally he said simply, "I was wrong."
7.
He went back to his room Spock's room, really. Kirk had brought with him a sturdy suit and boots. (Begin underline) Spock had suggested they might camp in the mountains after the summer eat abated. (End underline) He put on the boots and the trousers to the suit, but decided the heavy shirt would be far too hot, and chose a short-
8.
"He will recover, though?" asked Spock. "Yeah you can see him later, Spock," said the doctor. "He's gonna be in considerable pain—you're probably the only person he'll be able to stand. Your son would've made a good doctor," he added to Sarek. "I don't know how he does it, but he's really good with people in pain." Spock's eyebrows shot up at the unexpected compliment from the man Sarek usually saw him trade barbs with. Then Leonard left them to go back to his patient, and Spock turned to Sarek. "May I ask you something, Father?" "What is it, Spock?" "When Mother became conscious, you called her...?" "Beloved." End ID]
Finally making more progress on the pile of ST books I own but have yet to read. Here’s some good stuff from The Vulcan Academy Murders by Jean Lorrah.
First of all, what is going on with this cover? Nothing like this happens in the book.
Interesting interesting. 👀
This book is way too casual about Kirk sleeping in Spock’s childhood bedroom. Also, there’s no mention of where Spock is sleeping while they’re there???
We love reflecting on our past mistakes. 👏🏼 We love character growth. 👏🏼
I love them. I can picture this so perfectly.
Kirk will bring up Abe Lincoln whenever he has a chance. That’s canon now.
Yes! Let’s talk about our feelings! Let’s resolve those daddy issues!
Spock wanted to take them camping. 🥹
Spock being very concerned about Kirk’s injuries. Bones saying Spock is the only person Kirk would tolerate while in pain. Spock asking his father about expressing love for an outworlder. It’s a lot.
#CRAZY!! CRAZY!!!#star trek#star trek tos#star trek novels#described#described by me#op please add this id to the original post to make it more accessible! in plain text w/o a readmore :) make any edits necessary!#and lmk if i missed any typos!
𝐁𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐓 𝐓𝐎 𝐃𝐎.
katsuki bakugou | competitive sex + f!reader + pro hero!kats + hickeys + hair-pulling + ripping clothes + a surprise guest + more! minors dni.
— 1.8k words
"Text Shitty Deku we're gonna be little late."
“Katsuki. Hands off.”
The ash-blond sighs, grumbling like the petulant child he is before forcing his hands to his sides. Glaring at you through the mirror, he grunts, “Fuckin’ why.”
"Because I'm trying to get ready and you're in the way." You swat his hands away and reach for a brush, rolling your eyes when he ignores everything you just said in favor of hooking his chin around your shoulder and wrapping his arms around your waist. You shrug him off, "Now move."
In your defense, you've been pushed to your limit.
You two are already late enough for the Gala as it is, you know, the one that's exclusively for pro heroes. And yet, for some reason, today's the day your boyfriend's brain seems to be in his dick.
Katsuki digs his teeth into your neck, hard enough to make you whimper before you rip his head away by the strands of his hair. He growls in frustration, the grip on your waist ever-tightening.
"Y'know...if people saw the type of shit you pull in private, they'd think you were the aggressive one."
"You let me get away with it," you respond absentmindedly, leaning towards the mirror until the cool from the counter presses into your gut. Mistake.
"Right. I've been too fuckin' soft, huh?" Katsuki says more to himself than to you before he's forcing you over the sink with a heavy hand on your back; the metal from the faucet knocks you in the collarbone. "That shit changes today."
"I—Kats, we don't have ti—" but the indisputable sound of ripping cloth bounces off your bathroom walls, and the addition of cool air brushing your inner thighs implies precisely what you hope he didn't just do.
His phone clatters on the counter before he's nudging your legs wider, nestling between them, and settling on his knees.
"Text Shitty Deku we're gonna be late."
"Katsuki Bakugou, did you just rip my fucking stockings?" You howl, grip tightening around the marble countertop in fury. Katsuki growls, delivering a heavy slap to your ass.
"I said fuckin' text him."
Your chest rises and falls with indignance, and yet you're punching in the code to his phone anyway, telling Izuku to reserve two spots at the table next to him because you two won't be able to do it yourselves.
"D'ya send it?" Katsuki asks, having a blast as he kneads your exposed ass to the point where it's sore. You nod, dropping the six-by-four box onto the countertop in resignation, and the ash-blond's chest rumbles at that, hand disappearing only to crack back down twice as hard. "Good girl."
Pushing your panties to the side, Katsuki wastes no time in sliding in his finger to the first knuckle, grinning when you shudder against him. You squeal as his teeth graze your inner thigh, and he hikes your knee onto the couch, dismissing how much you complain about the burn.
"What? Can't get a better view?" He growls, cheeky bastard, before he's sucking a hickey into your thigh because he knows you like it and pushing his finger in the rest of the way. You narrow your eyes, glaring at the small sliver of his smug face you can actually see in the mirror—and he's quickly filling you with a second finger, chuckling at your moan.
"You shouldn't have a view in the first place," you grumble, insistent on standing your ground. "You should be viewing the road because we're supposed to be driving right now."
"That's a real fuckin' pity then," Katsuki responds apathetically, lips pink as he moves to suck another hickey—closer to the apex of your thighs this time. You whimper as he scissors his fingers and passes a messy thumb over your clit, hips burning from holding this position for so long. With a final lick, Katsuki pulls away from his third or fourth mark (you're not too sure) and smacks his lips. "On the sink."
"On the c—Katsuki we have to g—wah!"
Katsuki takes it upon himself to hook his arms under your thighs and hoist you onto the cool thing, sending all miscellaneous bathroom items flying. You sigh, accepting the fact that you're probably not going to make it out of the house tonight as your back kisses the freezing glass, and Katsuki pushes your knees as far back as they'll go.
He curls a lip, and then he spits, getting saliva all over your pussy and thighs, and it's wholly and utterly lewd. And yet, you bite your lip at the feeling, and he grins, knowing you like it just as much as you'll say you hate it.
"You're a fuckin' dirty girl, y'know that?" Katsuki's eyes go dark. You huff, threading a hand through his ash-blond locks to tug—and you're the one grinning when he moans.
"I'm not the one who's making us skip a mandatory gala to get his dick wet," you quip with a raised eyebrow, and your hand never leaves his hair. "Am I?"
Katsuki growls with a curled lip, but you know better, and so does the clammy grip on your thigh. You tug on his hair again, and suddenly you're full of him, yelping in surprise as your arms scramble for his back for better purchase instead.
"What was that?" He asks breathily, hiding a groan behind a bitten lip. You're just thankful he's giving you time to adjust, or so you think, until he almost pulls out entirely before his hips snap forwards as hard as they can, knocking your spine into the mirror and a bottle of lotion onto the floor.
You moan, hands searching for his hair again because you know it's one of the only things that will provide a one-up—Katsuki bares his teeth at that, bending over to suck a mark into your neck and his hips continue to fuck you into tomorrow.
"You fit like a goddamn glove," Katsuki wheezes, the grip he has around your stocking-covered thigh edging on bruising. "So tight around me—fuck—"
"K-Kats—" you grapple for his dress shirt so hard it tears, causing you to crash against the counter and make more of a mess that's already been made. The ash-blond's hips don't do anything but speed up though, filling you to the point where a deep breath feels like too much.
"Fuck baby, you're so goddamn needy," Katsuki grabs your attention by your jaw with a gritty chuckle, "But this shit's only for me, ain't it? 'Cause you're fuckin' mine."
You whimper with a nod, nails latching onto hot and sticky skin now. Katsuki hisses as they rake down his back, but that only makes you want to dig in harder.
"Fuckin' say it—tell me you're mine and no one else's," he challenges with a glint in his carmine red eyes, and something in your gut churns underneath it. Something painfully primal and raw, which has you howling out:
"'M yours, only yours!"
You jolt when his thumb returns to your clit and refuses to let up. Katsuki growls at that, somehow finding the stamina to speed up—and gripping your shoulder for leverage. You moan, eyes fluttering as his cock reaches the deepest it has tonight, and you’re sure Katsuki can tell as well if his curse is anything to go by.
Ring, ring! Ring ring!
Surprisingly, Katsuki's phone survived the purge and still sits on the counter, albeit teetering on the edge of absolute destruction. The ash-blond catches it before it falls and has the nerve to swipe right, not allowing you to fit in an objection or any say in this at all.
"The fuck do you want, Deku?" He grunts, putting the phone on speaker before he sets it back down. You eep in protest, but all he does is mouth the words quiet, baby. So you're huff, biting onto the meat of your palm for extra precaution.
"Um, Kacchan? Where are you guys?" The greenette's voice echoes off the bathroom walls to the point where it's nearly comical how clueless he is, and yet Katsuki refuses to slow down. "People are starting to ask when you're getting here..."
"Not fuckin' goin'," Katsuki's sweat drips from his brow onto your chest, and all of a sudden, you're aware of how painfully close you are, but hold back in fear of making too much noise. Izuku sighs through the phone, and you can feel his disappointment from here.
"I—Kacchan, you can't just opt out of these things, you know," Izuku says, echoing your words from earlier. "Mandatory means you have to attend."
"Yeah, well, I got better shit to do, Deku," the ash-blond spits, though he's grinning like the devil because the asshole knows you're close, he can just tell at this point, and you hate how well he knows your body.
"It doesn't matter if you don't want to go, Kacchan!" The pro-hero shrills, voice peaking out of pure frustration. "This is mandatory. As in, M-A-N-D-A-T—"
Katsuki hangs up.
"Why is everyone so goddamn mouthy these days?" He grunts, primarily to himself, and somehow you have the will to giggle. Katsuki's eyebrows furrow as you tighten around him, spurred when the head of his cock nudges the perfect spot, and his nails start to tear into what's left of your stockings as he shudders, "I—fuck baby, I'm gonna cum."
"What? Being on the phone with Izuku got you all riled up or something?" You jest breathily, and Katsuki growls, slapping your outer thigh.
"Don't fuckin' bring the nerd up right now," he wheezes, and you resist the urge to quip back—mainly because you're close yourself. You reach to pull Katsuki's hair again and his hips stutter, eyes fluttering with a breathy moan as he finally fills you up, keening over to dig his teeth into your neck. And his orgasm is only the catalyst for your own, thumping your hands against his chest as your body ignites like a live wire, toes curling and eyes screwed shut.
Katsuki stays seated in you as he catches his breath, head resting on the cool mirror with his ash-blond hair mattes brown to his forehead. He's always uncharacteristically soft while basking in his afterglow, face and chest flushed bright red from exertion as his eyes soften in a way he rarely lets them.
"You good?" He pants, chest still heaving as he blinks down at your exhausted figure. Somehow, you find the energy to nod.
"I don't feel like leaving anymore, though," you declare towards the ceiling. Katsuki clicks his tongue.
"Was hopin' you'd say that," he says gruffly—you narrow your eyes but bite your tongue. "Wanna watch a movie?"
A movie doesn't sound...bad.
You sigh in defeat (again), though jolting when Katsuki's phone rings. He quickly presses red, and 9 missed calls from shitty fucking deku is the first notification on his home screen. You two share a look—the ash-blond shrugs.
"What? I told the fucker I had better shit to do."
wrote this for a friends bday and i was like,,,i guess i could put it here too...
Companions react to a random sexy times scene in a movie
Okay so in my head sole manages to get a TV to work and puts on a movie for them and their platonic/crushing companion, and about half way in there's a totally unexpected scene....
Maccready
*Chokes on drink* "Oh come on! I didn't need to see that..." que a very blushy and embarrassed merc.
Is very uncomfy. If he wanted to see adult content he'd go search for adult content some time when sole wasn't around.... he doesn't get why it's in the movie.... it's adding nothing to the damn plot
Idk about yall guys, but when I was younger and an "adult" scene would unexpectedly come on my parents would scrable for the remote inevitably drawing more attention and I could totally see Mac doing that.
Hancock
"Oh guess he's not a fan of foreplay.... Oh come on thats not how it's done. That poor lady can do so much better. Jeez sex ed apparently is a foreign concept to this sorry excuse for a lover...."
Judging the whole scene.... He wishes he could jump through the damn screen and give some pointers. By the time the scene is over sole is dying of laughter, and Hancock is disappointed in the underachieving boyfriend.
Cait
"What type of film are we watchin again? either way I'm not complaining..."
She'd be dramatically waggling her eyebrows. She doesn't really give a shit if it's in there. if anything it just causes her to focus on the movie more intently....
Danse
O.O "I- oh... um..."
The Paladin forgot how to form words temporarily and his face is redder than a tato. He's uncomfy and embarrassed to say the least.... Much like maccready he doesn't understand what this is adding to the plot...
Curie
"Oh what is going on-... Oh! Is this erm... normal to be on the television?"
Would cover her eyes. When asked why she'd say calmly "to give them some privacy". Sole of course finds that hilarious and starts laughing, which in turn makes Curie think the scene is over and something else is happening and when she uncovers her eyes and is greeted with the same image and she makes a sound in-between a screech and a squak making sole laugh even harder at her.
Deacon
"So this is the real reason why everyone watched TV before the bombs.... im not surprised, but I am disappointed in you sole... Ever heard of keeping it pg13? Seriously though if I was gonna lose my eye virginity to anyone I'm glad it's you" *Overly sarcastic shoulder pat*
He makes a whole dramatic scene himself acting as if what he just saw was the dictionary definition of vile, and then he starts smirking like a goddamn idiot. In reality he just feels awkward
Piper
"what the- OH COME ON BLUE WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU MAKING ME WATCH!?"
Once you convince her that no, it is indeed not what she thinks it is and that is safe to look she's pretty much fine and will happily watch the rest of the movie. Still though no matter what you say to try and convince her other wise she wholeheartedly believes it was your intention to about give her a heart attack mid movie. Even after you explanation you weren't expecting it either she still blames you and probably won't let you pick the movie for a very long time.
Nick
"Forgot how many scenes there were in old films. Heh, at least this one's tasteful unlike some of the things I've had the misfortune of seeing in my time...."
Hes an old man, he's seen it all. I'm sure he's had to watch some less than tasteful videos/holotapes he found well working a case that turned out to be anything but evidence. at the end of the day as long as there's not to much skin or excessive ridiculous moaning he's good.
Preston
"....."
He knows what's going on, but he's hoping if you don't know that he knows what's going on it'll somehow make this whole situation less awkward. That and he can't actual bring himself to say anything. This is not what he planned for movie night.... good thing he didn't bring a whole bunch of settlers like he had originally planned.
X6-88
"Ma'am/Sir might I ask why you're choosing to watch this with me?"
He's outwardly his usual stoic stone like self, but with a slight blush in his ears. He had meant for what he said to come out monotone like his words usually are, but it came out with far more nervousness then he intended. He's probably gonna wanna shoot some stuff after this. Probably best to let him go deal with his emotions the only way he knows how. violence.
______
“How drunk do you think we’re going to get tonight?” Sophie asked, tipping back the last of a lemon White Claw as the two of them got ready for the night in her room.
“Dunno. I’m not really feeling it tonight.”
She paused, glancing back at him. “Do you not want to go?”
He shook his head and took the can from her, disappointed to realize there was nothing left. “No, no, it’s fine. I’m cool. Probably just won’t drink.”
“Is this about the phone call with your dad earlier?”
Rafe sighed, gritting his teeth. “It’s not - I’m fine, Soph.”
She crossed her arms and eyed him over, trying to get a read on his body language. “You’re sure.”
“I’m sure.” After Rafe tugged his shirt over his head, ready much faster than Sophie, he paced around the room for a few seconds before speaking up. "Hey, so...Sarah's getting presented at the annual deb ball in spring."
Sophie seemed unbothered, turning her back to him as she wrestled her way into a crop top to get ready for the night. "Those are still a thing? Cool, so you're going home for it?" She paused, glancing over at him in his polo. "Undo another button."
He did so, then rocked back on his heels with his hands in his pockets, trying to figure out what to say next.
She slowly turned back to him, realizing he was still tense across his shoulders. "What?"
Rafe rubbed the back of his neck, a tell-tale sign he was nervous and Sophie wasn't going to like what he was about to say. "Yeah...my dad wanted you to come home for it too."
"What? Ward? Why?"
"He, kinda, uh, wants you to be presented too?"
She just laughed, turning back to the mirror with her brow furrowed in slight concentration as she applied another coat of mascara. "Okay. Sure." But when he didn't elaborate, she turned back to him again, lips pursed. "Cameron. Tell me you told him no."
"...I didn't not not tell him no."
"Rafe."
He cracked under her stare. "I'm sorry, okay! Look, it's easy, all you have to do is throw on a pretty white dress and gloves -"
"A dress that costs thousands of dollars -"
"Hundreds, but - I'll cover you, obviously -"
"No." She turned back to the mirror, shaking her head. "Fuck no. I'm not going."
"Sophie." He nearly begged, stepping closer and running his hand through his hair. "Baby. C'mon."
"Don't call me that. No. I don’t fit into that part of your world.”
"Not even for me?" He pleaded, giving her a half-hearted grin. He ignored her last sentence, knowing any argument he had for her point would be dismissed in two seconds. "I wouldn't ask you if it wasn't important, you know that."
She turned back to him with crossed arms, fixing him with a glare. "Do I know that?"
"Soph."
"Don't, Rafe." She warned, holding one hand out, but he stepped closer anyways.
"Angel. Please. For me." He forced a smile, tried cracking a joke. "I really don't want to have to call him up and get read the riot act."
She furrowed her brow and Rafe reached out and smoothed out the lines in between her eyebrows before he could stop himself, making her soften just a little. "If I were to say yes. What would I have to do?"
"Just wear the dress, attend a dinner, party the night before and party that night." He paused, thinking. "And stay at my house for the weekend. Be civil to my dad.” At her eyeroll, he fixed her with a more serious gaze. “Meet my grandparents. Hang with my sisters. C'mon, Wheezie adores you."
"You're lying."
"I'm not. She thinks you're cool. Sarah too, but she’s less likely to admit it." He kissed her forehead, hands going to her waist. "Please?"
"It's that important?"
"I swear. On my mom's grave."
Sophie frowned immediately, reaching up to fix his hair. "That's not necessary."
"You'll do it?"
"...Yes." When he made a small fist pump, she fixed him with a glare. "Only because I love you."
“I'll go down on you every night for the next two weeks -”
She rolled her eyes at his promise, shoving lightly at his chest. "You basically already do that anyways, Rafe -”
"Okay, fine, I'll tie you up, something, anything, god, thank you, Soph. You don't know how big of a favor this is. I mean it." He sighed in relief, the tension draining from his body.
She ignored him, turning back to the mirror to apply lip gloss, carefully smearing the wand across her lips. “Why does he want me to do this? I don’t understand.”
“Is that the sticky stuff? I hate that stuff, it gets all over me when we’re kissing -” He started, then quickly shut his mouth as she flipped him off without looking. “Uh, ‘to integrate you into our society.’ Direct quote.”
“Oh god.” She groaned, setting the lip gloss aside after applying it, then started searching through her jewelry case. “So I’m gonna have to be on my best kook behavior?”
He snorted. “Sophie Flint, a kook. Not likely.”
“Watch it.” She pointed a warning finger in his face. “You don’t see anything weird with this? Your dad hates me.”
“He doesn’t hate you.”
“Rose does.”
“That’s not true either.”
Sophie raised her eyebrows, challenging him.
He shrugged, relenting with a sigh. “You’re not her favorite person, no, but neither am I.”
“You think this was more her idea? For Sarah to do it too?”
“Nah, actually, pretty sure it was my grandparents’ idea. Probably Granddad. My mom went through all this, so…”
She turned her back to him and gathered her hair, offering the clasp of her gold chain to him. “Your mom was a debutante?” She questioned with interest.
_______
Rafe rarely ever talked about his mom - Sophie had only found out how she died from a newspaper article in the online archives, and hadn’t wanted to bring it up since. All she knew was that Mrs. Cameron had passed away in a car accident when Rafe was fourteen.
Both Sophie and Rafe’s schools shared a building, despite them going to private academies, and overlapped for certain advanced placement classes. In freshman year, they were together for AP chemistry, with Sophie sitting proudly at the front of the class while Rafe sat in the back with a group of his friends, often cracking jokes at inappropriate times or throwing wads of paper at each other. Freshman year Sophie was the epitome of stuck-up - she resorted to insults instead of making friends and kept to herself, terrified someone might find out that she was on scholarship and wasn’t truly meant to be there.
The day after the car accident, Rafe was unusually quiet. Sophie hadn’t heard the news yet, it was barely second period and she wasn’t looped into the trail of gossip like the rest of the girls at Greenville. They were partnered for an experiment that day - Rafe had groaned when he heard Sophie’s name after his from the teacher, and Sophie barely suppressed a roll of her eyes. She took charge right away, getting all the supplies and set up their work station without even addressing him. After a few minutes, she slid the small glass of solution to Rafe, raising her eyebrows. “You can do the work too, you know.”
He was completely spaced out, only glancing up when she said something. “I wasn’t paying attention.”
Sophie rolled her eyes, lifting a beaker and extending it to him. “Yeah. I know. Just drop in 10 milliliters of the solution, it’s not hard.”
Rafe sighed as he rested his elbows on the edge of the table, rubbing his temples. “Look, can you just do it?”
She finally took note of the dark circles under his eyes, the way his shoulders were slumped, but misinterpreted it all. She smirked, taking on a taunting tone. “What, you’re still drunk from last night or something?”
He gritted his jaw, his entire body growing tense, and tugged at the collar of his polo. “Fuck off, Flint. Not in the mood today.”
She recoiled immediately, setting the beaker down with a little too much force. “Don’t be an asshole.”
“Don’t be a fucking bitch.” He spit back, standing abruptly. She winced as the stool squeaked across the floor, drawing everyone’s attention - as if they hadn’t had it already. Kelce stepped over and went to grab Rafe’s arm, possibly pull him away, but Rafe just wrenched his arm out of his grip. “I’m fine.” He growled, storming out of the classroom without looking back.
After a few moments of stunned silence, with Sophie on the verge of shocked tears, their teacher cleared her throat and redirected everyone’s attention, pointing one of the girls over to join Sophie instead. Molly made her way over, occupying Rafe’s seat in the space across from her. “Poor Rafe,” she murmured.
Sophie frowned, pulling her jacket tighter across her chest like a shield of armor. “Poor Rafe? What?”
Molly nodded, lowering her voice a little. “Yeah, you didn’t hear? I’m surprised he’s at school, honestly.”
“I didn’t...what happened?”
“Oh.” Molly frowned. “Um. You know that winding road, the one that goes downhill toward the ballet studio?”
Sophie didn’t, she didn’t even have a clue - the ballet studio was on the entire opposite side of the island from where she lived, the height of Figure 8, and she hadn’t ever had a reason to even venture that way. “Yeah? What does that have to do with Rafe?”
“Um, well, it was pouring last night, and his mom was driving down that road. I heard she lost control of the car and wrecked it. There was, like, a drunk driver that swerved into her lane, but she tried to avoid him and hit a tree.” Molly told her, careful on the details.
“I’m pretty sure the Camerons can replace a car.” Sophie replied, not wanting Molly to confirm where she thought she was going with the story. She dug her nails into the skin of her thigh anyways, feeling anxiety bubble up in her chest.
Molly shook her head, slowly. “Mrs. Cameron died, Sophie.”
Her heart dropped and she bit the inside of her cheek, hard. “Oh.”
“Yeah. I’m surprised you didn’t hear the sirens last night, I saw like eight police cars last night headed toward his house. I heard Sarah was in the car too, I think -”
“Is Sarah okay?” She couldn’t concentrate on anything but her ears ringing, her heart pounding in her chest.
“Oh, yeah, I think so. But god, how awful, right? The funeral is next weekend, Ward Cameron told my dad this morning. Is your family going?”
“Um...I don’t know.” Sophie glanced toward the door, hoping to god he would come back through the door and Molly would confess that it was all a joke, that she hadn’t just started something with Rafe on that day of all days.
________
Rafe nodded. “Yeah. ‘Course she was. I think she really enjoyed it, actually, she’d always tell Sarah when she was little about how pretty she would look in the dress, how important it was to learn the right etiquette and -” He cut himself off, realizing he was sharing too much, and deftly fastened the clasp before pressing a kiss to the top of her head, letting her step away. “All that.”
“Huh.”
He smiled to himself, thinking about how his mom would let little Sarah play dress up in her old ballgown with gloves that went up to her armpits, wobbling around in high heels twice the size of her feet. His mom would tell Rafe he’d have to watch out for Sarah with her escort, keep him in line, and that when he was in college he’d be presenting a girl as well. But he was nine and didn’t think of girls in that way quite yet, so he always scowled and left the room.
“It’s kind of cool, I think. The tradition of it all.”
“The ball? Have you been?” She caught his eye in the mirror as she adjusted her top, not wanting to push for too much information before he’d shut down altogether.
“No...I was gonna present Brooklyn at the one here in Columbus, sophomore year’s normally when the girl gets presented, but. Yeah. No, I meant, it’s kind of cool that you’ll be doing something my mom did.” He rubbed the back of his neck, meeting her gaze for a moment then looked away.
“Yeah?”
“She would have liked you. I know it.”
Sophie perked up a little, cocking her head. “You really mean it?”
“Yeah. She would have liked that you have an attitude with me.” He grinned when she turned back around and took his hand, tugging him over to sit on the bed next to her. “She was always saying I needed to find someone to match my energy, keep me in check. I wish she could have met you.”
“I did meet her. Once.”
He perked up, cocking his head. “You did?”
“Yeah, I served her when I was working at the restaurant at the country club once, I was only fourteen. I remember she made some comment about me being too young to work and I told her I liked it. Then she asked my name, and I remember she seemed like she knew already when I told her.” Sophie nodded. “She was really nice, left way too big of a tip and wrote my name on the bill. I always thought that was funny.”
Of course she knew, Rafe thought as he smiled to himself. She knew, because Rafe had come home and complained about a girl getting on his nerves every single week since seventh grade. She knew, when the complaints turned to “why won’t just be nice to me” and his mom had quipped that Sophie probably liked him - he had scoffed and walked away. She knew, because his mom had come home from the country club and told him Sophie Flint was a much nicer girl than Rafe painted her to be, and Rafe had immediately turned bright red and been embarrassed that his mom sought her out.
“I like that.” She leaned into him, taking his hand to play with his rings. “Will your grandparents be there? At the ball?”
“Oh, yeah. They sit on the board, I’m pretty sure, it’s this gigantic charity event. I’ll introduce you, but don’t worry, they’re chill. Nothing like my dad.” He adjusted himself so she was comfortable, then pressed a kiss to the top of her head.
She chewed on the inside of her lip, treading carefully. “I thought your dad grew up on the Cut.”
“He did. But my mom, no way. Kook through and through. That’s, uh, where a lot of my trust is from. After she died, um. She wanted to be sure me and Sarah were set.” He shrugged, ears turning red as he felt his throat getting tight.
Sophie frowned, feeling him closing off, and leaned closer to hug him, arms wrapped tight around his waist. “You know you can talk to me about this stuff whenever, Rafe? I’d like to hear more about your mom. She sounds like an amazing woman.”
“She was.” He nodded, settling his arms around her shoulders and rested his chin on the top of her head, closing his eyes for a moment. “Thanks, Soph. This is a really big deal to me, that you’ll go. I know it’s not your scene.”
“Love you.” She murmured. “You’d better buy me a pretty dress.”
He laughed, leaning back just enough to tip up her chin with one finger and kiss her. “You’ll be the best looking one there. I swear.”
“Oh, I already knew that.”
“Okay, okay, big head -”
She swatted his arm, laughing as she ducked out from under him. “Watch it, or I won’t go -”
“I was kidding!” He exclaimed, wrestling with her for a moment before grabbing both her hands and pinning them above her head.
Sophie sucked in a breath, caught off guard. “We are going to be late.”
“We’re already late.” He pointed out, taking a moment to realize the lack of innocence in the position, then slowly smirked. “We could be later. They’re not gonna miss us.”
“Rafe.”
“Sophie.”
“No.”
“You’re positive?”
She just gave him a look, staring him dead in the eyes and willing herself not to react when he leaned down with a grin and kissed the bridge of her nose.
“Please?”
“Fine. The ball or sex right now. You choose.” She raised her eyebrows, arching her back a little on purpose, pressing her hips up against his.
“That’s not fair.” He frowned, immediately shifting his hips away and moving so both his knees were on either side of her instead. “This is blackmail.”
“Your choice.” She reminded him, biting her lip for good measure.
He faltered, sitting back on her thighs and letting go of her wrists. “Soph, it’s - it’s for my mom. I swear. Not for my dad, Rose, anyone else.”
Sophie dropped the teasing act right away, propping herself up on her elbows. “Right, right, sorry. I won’t push it.”
“It’s alright.” He climbed off her, standing, and offered his hands. “Five bucks James makes some joke about us being late because we were having sex.”
“I’m not taking you up on that.” She rolled her eyes, accepting his hand and pulled him into a hug. “Love you long time, Cameron.”
He smiled, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. “Love you too, favorite girl.”
“What do the dresses look like?”
“Uh...white?” Rafe shrugged, tugging on her hand to get her to follow him downstairs. “I dunno. When we go home for Thanksgiving I’ll book you an appointment to get fitted, I think it’s at some bridal shop on the mainland.”
“Sounds expensive.” She muttered, shaking her head.
“It’s…yeah. It’s not cheap.” He admitted, then shrugged as she followed him out the door, starting their walk toward the bars. “I’ll take care of it though. All of it. By the way, have you booked your flight home for Thanksgiving yet?”
“Um...no. I was going to look this week, it’s probably too late now though.”
“Hm.”
“Hm? Why, are you going home?”
Rafe nodded, not looking her in the eye. “Taking the plane.”
“Oh. Of course.”
“The plane...that no one else will be on...and it’s kinda ridiculous for you to waste money and carbon emissions on a separate flight…” He tried convincing her, a small smile playing on his lips as she rolled her eyes.
“You need to learn how carbon emissions work if you’re going to use that as an argument with me.”
“So that’s a no to sex on the plane?”
Sophie stopped in her tracks, confused. “That wasn’t - Rafe, what?”
“You, me, alone on the plane. Sorry, was I not clear enough?”
“I didn’t even say yes -”
“Oh, so you’re going to leave me all by myself on our one-year anniversary -”
She raised her eyebrows, challenging him. “When’s our anniversary, Rafe?”
He raised his back, stopping on the sidewalk to face her. “On my terms or yours? Because if we’re going with mine, it’s Halloween -”
“No, I had to ask you to be my boyfriend, it’s November 18th -”
“That is such an arbitrary thing, Sophie -”
“Hey! Stop stealing my vocabulary.” She interjected, pushing at his chest. “It’s the 18th, because I had to ask you out.”
“Okay. Whatever story makes you happy.” He shrugged, laughing when she shoved at him again. “Come on the plane with me.”
“...Fine. Only because I don’t want to miss our class reunion party on Wednesday night, I’m pretty sure some people still don’t believe we’re together.”
Rafe laughed loud at that, looping his arm around her shoulders and started walking again. “Pretty sure Topper still thinks it’s all an elaborate lie.”
“Does he know that we nearly hooked up in his room last winter break?”
“No.” He grinned. “Are you forgetting that you had to sprint into his bathroom right when I was about to kiss you because of some tequila thing you had?”
She tilted her head slightly. “You’re remembering wrong. That was sophomore year, before we were dating, I barely drank last year...you almost kissed me?”
“What? No, I think...remember, we were arguing over something, then you whispered in my ear to go up to his room and left. I went up a couple minutes later.” He shook his head. “I wasn’t going to make a move, Brooklyn and I were together then.”
Sophie scowled at the mention of Brooklyn. “I must have been hammered, I don’t remember any of this.”
“You wanted me.” He smirked, trailing his fingers along her collarbone. “One might say desperate.”
“No, no. All I remember is waking up in Topper’s bed feeling like shit, I had some crewneck on from your academy.” She ignored the blush creeping up her neck.
“How do you think you got there and got the sweatshirt?” He frowned. “I took care of you, Sophie. You really don’t remember?”
“I think I blacked out.” She confessed, shaking her head. “You took care of me?”
“Of course I did. Plus, I thought I was about to get some, I would have done anything for you.” He grinned, laughing when she shoved his shoulder. “Really thought that was the night I’d finally win you over.”
“Yeah, well, you can blame Sarah for her heavy pour that night.” She shook her head, smiling fondly. “I really wish I remembered that.”
“I wish you remembered too. Maybe you would have given me a chance before then instead of setting me up with Julia.”
“I - no! She asked to be set up with you, no, I did not instigate that at all.” She defended herself straightaway, cheeks flushing pink. “She said if I wasn’t going to make a move, then she was going to.”
“Sure. Whatever you believe.” He teased, pressing a kiss to the top of her head as they arrived at the bar. “Hey, Soph.”
She rolled her eyes, going to get in the winding line outside until he tugged her wrist back, pulling her to his chest. “What?”
“Thank you. I mean it.”
Sophie softened, smiling as she rose up on her toes to kiss him. “Of course, baby. I’ve got your back.”
Chapter 2–
You knew that if anyone outside of this car saw you right now, you might just pass away. To put it simply: You were sitting on Killua's lap.
All because Kite's truck only fit seven people.
The way this predicament came about would have been comical if it weren't for your burning embarrassment. Unfortunately, you could remember very clearly how it all unfolded:
"Hmm, it seems that there aren't enough seats for all eight of us, so one person will have to squish in," Kite said, opening the car door to check the seats.
"Who's the smallest one here?" Gon asked. All seven pairs of eyes turned to look at you.
Great. The benefits of never having had your growth spurt.
Killua was the one to open his mouth, snickering, "Obviously it's Y/N. She's like a midget!"
"Killua, you are literally an entire 2 ½ feet shorter than Kite over there," you defended yourself.
From a distance, you had guessed Kite was around 6'3. Once you got a closer look at him, you discovered that he towered over you like a skyscraper. Your curiosity got the best of you and naturally, you had asked him what his height was. The man was a whopping 7 foot 10.
"It's okay Y/N, you can squish with me," Gon offered.
Killua shook his head. "No way. Squishing will just make everyone uncomfortable. It's better if only one person suffers. Y/N, you can sit on my lap."
He had left no room for argument. Sighing, you knew that even if you tried, you had no say in this anymore. You would just have to suck it up for the next 4 hours.
Now you were here, sitting on him, worrying about whether you were cutting the circulation off to his legs or not. Or perhaps you were too bony and it was hurting him.
You could feel his warm breath on your neck, and it sent goosebumps across your entire body. This was beyond awkward.
"Stop it," Killua muttered, right in your ear.
Oh, you'd done it now, hadn't you? Killua was gonna push you off onto Gon instead.
"Stop what?"
"You're so stiff, just...relax," he paused, "I don't mind sitting this way."
Hearing his voice so close to you sent butterflies fluttering in your stomach.
Maybe this was okay.
You untensed, trying to adjust yourself to a more comfortable position, but the bumpy car ride wasn't making it very easy. Kite ran over a rock, and without a seatbelt it sent you jerking upwards. Thanks to his fast reflexes, Killua gripped your waist, holding you tightly to his body.
"The seatbelt won't reach over the both of us, but this'll keep you from flying."
"Heh, thanks Killua. I think we should reach the beach in a bit..." you said, hoping that the thought of it being over soon might offer him some relief.
It doesn't matter who it is, being this close to someone could send anyone into a frenzy. You were hyper-aware of every one of his fingers grasping onto your waist. He wasn't lying. He was keeping you right there.
You'd just have to stop thinking about it, you told yourself. Or else you'd go crazy.
Trying to relax back into Killua like he had asked, you let your mind wander to the reason you were driving in the first place. The day before, the three of you had decided to stick with Kite and help him investigate the Chimera ants. The beach you were headed to now is supposed to have a clue about where the ant queen is located, so you could bring an end to the destruction before it starts. During the car ride, you had learned they were a truly deadly species. One bite of an innocent passerby, and they had the means to bring the entire human race to extinction.
You felt like something was starting. And your intuition was rarely wrong.
Gazing at Gon who had been talking with Kite for a while now, you noticed how his eyes crinkle into little smiles whenever he talks. You knew that having Kite around, his father's best friend, surely excited him to the bone. Gon was just oozing with optimism, without even trying. You could tell that just by being himself, he was keeping the spirits up of all eight in the group, not allowing any room for doubt or fear to creep into anyone's minds.
At that moment, you swore that whatever happened, you would be there to protect Gon and Killua. Even if it costs you everything.
Hopefully, this wasn't one of your friends' last few moments of tranquility. But if it was, you were determined to spend it well.
Resting your head against Killua, you hoped that he wouldn't mind if you indulged in this for just a moment. You were tired, having not gotten much rest since completing Greed Island and meeting Kite.
It didn't take much time for you to fall asleep to the rise and fall of Killua's steady breathing and his sweet vanilla scent. If you'd been awake, you might have even heard his heartbeat racing beneath you.
⋯✰⋯
You had finally reached the beach.
Killua had nudged you awake once you'd gotten there. You remembered how his blue eyes stared back at you as he poked your face, calling you an idiot for falling asleep, and you chuckled.
There was one thing you were clueless about; Killua had made sure not to move even once the whole rest of the car ride. He was nervous that he might disturb your peacefully sleeping form.
You were still pretty groggy as you looked out at the sea, the bright sun reflecting on the ocean's surface. You wanted to wiggle your toes in the sand, but you were there for a reason. To find anything that might lead to the Queen.
You searched in bushes, behind rocks, under seashells, and even used your nen to sift through as much sand as you could. So far, the group had ruled out the forest and deemed it difficult to know if the ant even ended up on the same island. That's when they decided to release the hellhound. Well- it wasn't a hellhound. It was the little dog you played with yesterday. Along with Gon.
Gon was following behind the dog on all floors, sniffing the ground as he went.
"He can do that?" You asked no one in particular.
"His nose is as sharp as a dog's," Killua responded, watching Gon with an amused look in his eye.
A couple minutes went by with no luck. The only thing the dog had found was a tree to pee on. It looked like the ant wasn't going to be on this island, though Kite had an idea.
"It may have washed ashore somewhere else. Which direction do the currents flow here?" Kite asked the two that had brought us down to the beach. One was short with brown skin and grey hair that sprouted up like hay, while the other had large glasses and two front teeth poking out from his mouth.
"The direction is reversed between day and night. And it also changes with the seasons. I've even heard it's different on certain days. So it'll be tough to pinpoint a location..." said Chipmunk Teeth. That's what you'd call him, since you hadn't gotten his name.
So basically, no one had any idea on how to find the Chimera Ant Queen.
"Continuing to search blindly is pointless. We should return to YorkNew and see if we can find any new leads there."
You heard the group around you agreeing with Kite. He and his friends began walking back to the truck already, but you stayed put. You would catch up to them later.
The ocean reminded you of your home. You thought you should say goodbye to it first.
Ripples of water lapped gently at your feet. You always had a connection with nature. Having lived in a small village located in the middle of a jungle most of your life, the earth had become your dearest friend. One of your earliest memories was from exploring the coves back at home. You stretched out your arm across the water, and watched the liquid softly rise to your hand as you called it.
That's why you chose this nen ability. It tied you to the elements. When you fought with it, together you were one body.
"Y/N, come on! Kite's threatening to leave without you," Gon waved you over. Taking one last look at the sea, you turned away.
The sun was already setting by the time you left for the city.
⋯✰⋯
Going back to YorkNew was the right decision. Now you all knew where to look.
Kite had discovered that the possibilities of the Chimera Ant landing in NGL were the highest. Apparently, NGL was a country populated with people who wanted to get away from machine civilization and live in nature.
You loved nature too, but you thought that was a little extreme. There was a reason you had to leave your beloved jungle behind.
"There may very well be a giant swarm of Chimera Ants already hunting humans down. If that's the case, my top priority will be saving them. You must be able to protect yourselves," Kite warned us.
"And if I am the one in trouble, you should escape without me."
At that, Gon and Killua looked unsettled. But backing down now was not an option.
"Got it," you said, breaking the silence and offering a kind nod to Kite, "and until the very last moment, the three of us will have your back."
"Yeah!" The other two boys concurred.
Now, you sat with Gon and Killua on an airship to NGL. The three of you were sitting on a bench, looking out of a window that framed velvet-peach clouds displaying brilliant silver linings.
Gon was reflecting on their last conversation with Kite.
"You said that Ging had a reason for bringing me and Kite together," he rested his arms and head on the window-frame.
Killua broke his sight from the clouds and looked at Gon.
"Yeah, I did."
"You're probably right. I don't know the reason, but I can't give up halfway, no matter what's going on. Otherwise, I'll disappoint Ging... And I'd never be able to forgive myself either. So I won't run away," Gon continued, resolved with his decision.
There was a moment of silence as the three of you let his words sink in.
You admired Gon's determination, but you hated that Ging had a son risking his life just to avoid disappointing a dad he's never met.
"Man, you had this totally serious expression, so I was expecting something big. But it's just business as usual," Killua smiled.
"Huh?" Gon's mouth hung open. "I thought about this a lot, I even ran a bunch of mental simulations! And I liked what Y/N said earlier, about having Kite's back until the very end."
"Think all you want, but you'll still be Gon. If someone said to abandon them, you'd never do it," You lightly punched his shoulder.
He pouted, cradling where you hit him, and you rolled your eyes.
"Drama queen."
Gon chose to ignore that and turned back to Killua. "Then what would you do?'"
"I'm a spontaneous guy, so I'd think about it once the time comes."
"So, you'd run away?" Gon questioned.
"Depends. I can't say until it actually happens."
"Say for instance..."
Killua threw his hands up, beat, "I can't tell you what I'd do in a hypothetical situation!"
"Then, what about you Y/N?"
"Gon!" You whined.
Truth be told, you hadn't thought about what you would do. It depended like Killua said. But you did know one thing...
"I would never leave you two behind. Even if that meant I'd have to die."
°°°
Being in a relationship with Minho hasn't been the easiest thing, but for you, it has been the bestest decision you have ever made.
You were college sweethearts, both of you meeting at an audition for the school's official dance group. After graduating, Minho decided to join a famous dance studio as one of its choreographers while you chose to focus on your professional field.
Adulting didn't come easy, as the two of you were bombarded with busy schedules for almost every week on end. It hasn't been the easiest thing, but after some time, the both of you have learned to adjust and manage your time. You have also decided to move in together, because 1.) you wanted to spend as much of your free time with each other as possible, and 2.) let's be honest, rent is expensive af.
Despite that, it was still difficult for you to spend quality time together because of Minho's hectic and jam-packed sched. Even in weekends, he would be busy coming up with dance moves for the kpop groups assigned to him. Hence, you usually make up to this by visiting him in the studio and bringing him your homecooked meals. You would bring a portion for you as well so you could eat with him. This is something that he adored so much, it eventually became a regular routine for weekends.
That Saturday was no exception. Wearing your favorite casual clothes plus Minho's purple hoodie, you drove to the dance studio with packed lunch for the both of you. You greeted the other dancers you met in the building, and there you met Momo, another buddy in your college dance group.
"Y/nnieeee!!!" Momo said, approaching you into a tight hug. "I've missed you!"
You returned the hug and giggled. "We only met like last week though?"
"That is forever ago. You should just work with us here so I could always hang out with you," Momo complained.
"Once I get fired in my current job, I'll be sure to send you my resume."
"Should I use my connections to get you fired, then?"
You talked with Momo for a while, until she remembered that she left her students unsupervised and she was only supposed to get some water.
"Minho is in Studio E," Momo said. "He's assigned to teach a rookie girl group, my forte, while I'm assigned to a dorky and loud boy group. Where's justice in that?" She sighed deeply. "Anyway. I'll get going. Let's grab coffee some time!"
You waved and watched as Momo begrudgingly trudged towards Studio A. You laughed a bit to yourself before heading to the opposite direction.
When you peered through the door of Studio E, you noticed at least six ladies sitting on the floor, talking and fanning themselves. You knocked twice before opening the door. Few of the girls looked up and bowed awkwardly. They probably thought you were just a staff bringing Minho some food.
The man in question, however, failed to notice you. He was busy giving a one-on-one lesson to another girl, them being the only ones standing. It probably shouldn't have irked you so much, seeing that Minho is a choreographer and it is, indeed, his job to teach idols their choreography. However, being a dancer yourself and watching them there for a solid minute, you know that the girl was just goofing around and pretending not to understand the moves. She even laughed and slapped Minho's chest jokingly as if they were close friends. You couldn't see your boyfriend's reaction from where you stood, but what you witnessed was enough to dampen your mood.
You fake-coughed, causing Minho to finally notice you. His eyes lit up, and that was almost enough to rebrighten your mood. Almost, for you could still see the girl he was teaching earlier, with her eyebrows shot up like she was annoyed for the interference.
Minho jogged to where you stood and you gave him a quick peck on the lips. This took him by surprise--you weren't usually the type of person to show skinship when there are strangers around. This made Minho smile, though, thinking that you just missed him too much.
"Lunch break, everyone," Minho told the girls. He then took your hand and led you out of the room towards the staff's pantry.
When you got there, Minho excitedly opened the lunch you prepared, asking you about your day as he did so. You tried to act normal--afterall, you have no reason to be jealous, right? Plus, this is Minho you're talking about. You've known each other for years, he's not gonna dump you for an idol he just met.
Right?
"Baby?"
Your head shot up, realizing that Minho was talking to you. "Yeah?"
He chuckled. "What's wrong? Stunned by my visuals yet again?"
You rolled your eyes, used to his teasing antics. "Just tired, I guess. Eat your meal before it gets cold."
His gaze softened. He reached for your hand, squeezing it a bit. "I told you, you could take some rest during weekends. You don't have to force yourself to drive all the way here to bring me lunch. You took overtime last night, I'm sure you've been busy in the office."
You smiled at him, reaching out to squish his cheeks. "And I told you, bringing you lunch would never be tiring for me if it means that I could spend time with this lovely face."
Minho grinned. "I'm irresistible, I know."
You playfully pinched his cheek. "Just eat, you handsome creature."
You watch Minho as he ate, admiring how he looked food-deprived by the way he gobbled his meal. For the nth time in your long relationship, you wondered how you got so lucky to have someone like him. At the same time, you wondered how long you would be this lucky--wondered how long you would be able to watch him up close like this. You wondered: did you really deserve him? And what will happen if he realizes that, no, he doesn't want you after all?
"Uhh.. Min?"
"Ggnnmm?" he grumbled in a mouthful of food.
You stifled your laughter, finding the moment too cute to be destroyed by your depressing thoughts. "Have I ever told you that you look like a cat when you eat like that?"
°°°
It has been days since you visited Minho's studio. He was still teaching the girls you saw last weekend, due to the fact that "the choreo was too complicated" and a certain someone named Ahra was "finding certain parts difficult and needed to be trained personally by a professional choreographer." So of course, Minho can't say no. You visited once during the week, dropping off a change of clothes Minho forgot to bring, and you saw the girl again laughing and talking with Minho comfortably. Minho didn't seem annoyed. If anything, you felt like he was enjoying her company.
It was Friday when Minho came home and told you that he had to come with the girls to Gwangju where they would hold the music fest the following week.
"But why, though?" you asked Minho, genuinely confused. "You are a choreographer, not a manager."
"I know," Minho said. He looked tired, and part of you was feeling bad for questioning him like this. But you just can't help yourself--not after seeing that Ahra's body language towards your boyfriend. "But baby, their company pleaded for me to come with them to guide the group. They're rookies. They need as much help as they can."
A part of you understood. You wanted this relationship to be rational and matured. You promised to understand each other's line of work. So you just nodded, trying your best not to show your sadness... disappointment? Jealousy? All of the above?
°°°
Weekend came. You told Minho you were going to hangout with Momo for lunch. It was one reason, but the other main reason was that you didn't want to see Ahra flirting with your man right in front of you.
Momo chose a Japanese restaurant for your weekend hangout, saying she missed the dishes she had back home. Right after you've placed your order, your friend made a show of placing her elbows on the table with her chin on her fingers, looking straight into your eyes. "Now spill the tea."
You chuckled. "What?"
"While I know that you value our friendship more than most of everything else, I know that you won't ditch Minho for a simple lunch opportunity. Now spill."
"Uhh... maybe I'm making time with you because you're gonna be away for three days in Gwangju?"
"Oh, that music fest? I'm not coming with them though," she said, casually sipping water. "I have whipped my group into magnificent perfection, they don't need me to tag along. Plus, what would I do there? Chaperone their asses on the bus? Teach them the choreo while they're sightseeing? Please."
You sighed. Yeah, it doesn't make sense for an outsourced choreographer to tag along an idol group. They have their own trainors. And the trip was for three days to allow the idols some time for broadcasted sightseeing. They won't have time for heavy dance practices.
"But Minho is coming with the group assigned to him," you mentioned.
Momo almost choked on her mineral water. "What? Why? And why haven't I heard of this?"
Oh.
You shrugged. "Maybe my boyfriend is onto something--someone--else."
Momo's gaze softened. "Y/n..."
"I mean, the way that Ahra flirted with him? I wouldn't be surprised."
"C'mon y/nnie, do you really think Min would cheat on you? After, what, your five-year relationship?"
"When faced with a beautiful idol, why not?" Your eyes were starting to get watery. You weren't much of an emotional person, but right at that moment, you just wanted to bawl your eyes out. "I mean, Ahra is beautiful, right? You've seen her. Tall, flawless, gorgeous. And talented, too. I've searched about her group, and turns out she's the main vocal." You pointed at yourself. "And what do we have here?"
"YA! Don't you ever look down on yourself like that!" Momo said, slapping the table. "Have you forgotten that you're the main dancer of our dance group? That you were scouted by the leading agencies and you turned them all down? That if you decided not to focus on your academics, you would have been one of the leading dancers in the whole country? Y/N!"
"But--"
"I'M NOT YET DONE. And even without considering those, do you really think Minho is only looking at a person's outward appearance? Do you really think that, y/n?"
"No..." you whispered. "Momo, I understand now, please tone your voice down a little."
Momo discreetly looked around and noticed a few people staring. She sighed, composed herself, and spoke in a calmer voice, "Do you remember when Minho courted you? He was so shy, he can't even look you in the eyes without turning beet red. Literally the entire dance group had to help him express his feelings for you."
You smiled at the memory, remembering a slightly younger Minho flushing red while holding out a bunch of flowers.
"And even months prior to that. He was so dense, his hyungs in the group literally had to smack his head for him to realize that he likes you, even when the entire campus could already notice his heart-shaped eyes whenever he's with you." Momo sighed. "My point is, do you really think a guy like Minho could cheat on you?"
You reminisced about all those years you have been together. Minho is a sweet, understanding person. He sees beauty in everything around him. He sees beauty in you even when you yourself couldn't see it. He was there through the happy and ugly times, and he never once let go of your hand. He has been patient with you through everything. He is the best man you have ever met.
Momo sighed again for the umpteenth time that day. "The biggest flaw on him though is that he's way, waaaay too dense. Remember that one time before you got together, a girl was obviously making a move on him and he didn't even know until the girl walked out calling him a jerk."
You laughed at that. "He's flirty at times but he's too numb when he's on the receiving end."
The two of you laughed at that.
°°°
Later that day, Momo texted you. She checked in with the studio staff and apparently, Minho tagging along to the music fest was a special request by the higher ups of the girls' agencies, and it was a sort of rushed request. You thanked her for the information, mentally punching yourself for ever doubting Minho like that.
The following day was Minho's trip to Gwangju. You couldn't drive him to the station due to an urgent meeting, so you just gave him a hasty farewell kiss on the lips while he was preparing his breakfast. He just smiled up at you without saying a word. That small gesture made your heart clench, feeling guilty for doubting him and not spending time with him the day prior. You made a mental note to welcome him properly upon his return.
But for now, you have to survive those three incoming days alone in your apartment.
The whole day, you couldn't concentrate at work. You kept on worrying if Minho had arrived safely in his destination, if he had eaten enough, if he was warm and hydrated enough. When you asked him all these through text, he only replied with a short "don't worry too much 💝" You didn't know what to feel about it. He certainly felt that something was off, you thought. He was probably mad at me.
When you got home, a plastic of takeout on one hand and a heavy burden on your chest, you were prepared to be welcomed by the saddening darkness and silence of the night. But instead, what welcomed you was a candle-lit dining table filled with all your favorite food, complete with wine plus smooth music.
Minho stepped out from your shared room, a bouquet of roses in hand, smiling shyly while scratching his neck.
"This isn't really my thing..." he whispered.
Meanwhile you stood there, frozen in place, your jaw slack. "W-why... Min... but you're supposed to be...?"
Minho laughed. "I asked Felix to take my place. He gladly accepted." He walked closer to you, handing you the roses. "Did you really think I wouldn't notice if my one and only jealous baby has been acting weirdly?"
Your eyes widened. You dropped your gaze to the floor, embarrassed. "I'm sorry."
"Why are you sorry?" Minho stepped closer, caging you in a hug. "I'm the one who should be sorry for making you feel like that. I should never allow you to feel like you're lacking in any way. I should never give you a reason to doubt my love for you."
"But there was no reason. I was just reaching when I assumed you--"
"Sshh." Minho tightened the hug and kissed the top of your head. The two of you stayed like that for a while, swaying gently with the soft music.
"I love you, y/n. Longer than forever, I'm yours."
"I love you, too, Minho. I will love you longer than forever."
BE WITH YOU
Kang Younghyun x Reader.
***
You really don't know how did you end up here. In Seoul station with your backpack at 12 PM. You just had this idea when you woke up that you want to have a trip to somewhere since you skip class and it got you bored. So, you just took shower and packing your clothes enough for 3 days trip. You don't even know where to go and it's your first time to have a trip alone. You had a thought to go back home and cancel this plan but when you look around the station, it holds you back. Station is always an interesting place for you. There, you can see people who are about to go to somewhere or just got back from somewhere. You hold your backpack strap and thrilling to go on with the first plan. But you don't know what to do first. Shall you check where to go first or just buy whatever ticket available. You're still deep in your thoughts when someone bumped into you from behind. You dropped your wallet and phone.
"Ouch!" You hissed, worried that your phone might cracked.
"I'm sorry. I'm really sorry." The person sounded he's on rush and helped you to pick your wallet. "Are you okay?" He asked you, worried. He stretched his hand to give your wallet.
"I'm okay." You took your wallet from him, still checking your phone to find any crack.
"Okay, good. I'm sorry."
When you looked up after found no crack on your phone, the man was already running from you. You didn't have a chance to see his face. He's wearing all black outfit and carrying the same black colored backpack as yours. Seem like his train will leave soon, he's sprinting.
For safety reason you save your wallet in your bag and put your phone in your pocket jeans. You walked to the Ticket Vending Machine and luckily there's not so many people. You're standing still at the Ticket Vending Machine. You don't know what you're doing so you just pressed whatever you see, without thinking. After you got the ticket you decide to just wait for the train because you can't do anything much in one hour. You're sitting at the corner while examining your ticket. From Seoul to Gwangju. You don't know much about Gwangju actually, so you just started do some research about what to do, what to visit and what to eat in Gwangju. The most important one is where to stay. You think guesthouse will be a perfect choice since you always wanted to try stay at the guesthouse for a trip. Maybe you'll meet nice people. You're so focus searching for affordable and nice guesthouse when someone came and sit next to you. Between other empty seats and row, someone chose to sit beside you. It made you uncomfortable enough to shifted your position slightly away from the person beside you. You didn't take a look at the person, pretending to still focus on your phone. From the corner of your eyes you can see that he is a man. He seems so busy searching something inside his bag. A ring is falling right at your feet. You picked it up and placed it on the little space between you and him without saying a word. He buried his face inside his bag, so he didn't realize that he dropped his ring and had someone pick it up from him. You looked at the your watch and it's just 15 minutes left to your train departure. You stood up and walked to the platform leaving the man who's still busy searching for the thing he's losing behind.
***
You're smiling from ear to ear when you're already seated on the train. Your seat is by the window so it got you so excited. You'll get a chance to see the view.
You picked your phone to continue browsing for a guesthouse you'll stay at. There are two guesthouses that caught your attention. After you gained every little information about the two, you decided to choose the guesthouse which closer to the station. You think it's better. After you done with the booking and the payment online, you chose the playlist you want to listen to during the two hours ride. The train will leave in five minutes. At the same times someone sits beside you. That made you disappointed a little bit since you hoped no one would sit next to you. You'd feel more comfortable that way. You took a glance at the man sitting next to you. He looks somewhat familiar. You paid attention carefully then you realized that he's the same man that sit beside you at the station. You recognize him from the ring he's wearing. For once again he's busy looking for something inside his bag. But this time he didn't bury his face in the bag so you can see his face clearly. He has a black hair and he has a pair of sharp eyes and those eyes are now looking at you. Yes, he realized that you've been eyeing him. You gasped and immediately turn your face to look outside the window. You feel so embarrassed. The man cleared his throat awkwardly. Fortunately he didn't say anything. Who's gonna be happy if a stranger staring at your face? You also wil not comfortable if that happens to you.
The train started to leave. Your excitement has gone because a stranger was sitting next to you. He has a really board shoulders, it made his shoulders brushed with yours frequently. Every time that happened, the two of you immediately distancing yourself even though it's useless since there really wasn't any space anymore. You looked around the carriage, there were many empty seats. Why this man has to sit next to you making you uncomfortable. You have a thought moving to another seat but you're afraid he would feel offended. Yes, you're such an overthinker person. You really think too much about a stranger's feeling. You just hope that he would be the one who moves to another seat.
***
One hour more you'll arrive at Gwangju. Still with the same man next to you. Your stomach made an embarrassing sound. You pretended like nothing happened so that you don't get even more embarrassed. You wanted to buy food but you hold back. You have to make sure that you won't starving for two nights in Gwangju. This is a sudden trip so you don't bring that much money.
Your neck was stiff because you just look outside the window and you were hungry, so your mood was not very good. Is this the start of an unpleasant journey? You got even more annoyed when your shoulders brushes with the man again because he was looking for something inside his bag, again.
You're ready to close your eyes hoping that when you wake up, it's already in Gwangju.
"Hello, do you want this?"
A voice made you to open your eyes again. You turned your head and the man is handing a chocolate to you. That's your favorite chocolate. But, is it because he heard your stomach growling?
"No, thank you." You said in the most polite way you could think of.
He put the chocolate back to his bag without saying anything. Then, he handed you something again. This time it's sandwich.
"It's okay, i'm fine." You said with a smile reassuring him that you're fine.
Well, you think it's not save to receive any food from stranger. The world can be so scary.
He nodded, "Okay then. But you can take this." He put the chocolate on your lap. Carefully so his hand didn't touch anything else. "Don't worry, the expired date is next year. It's edible."
Did he read your mind? You hesitated but still take the chocolate. It won't be nice to keep rejecting it. Hence you can accept it without actually eating the chocolate.
"Oh, thank you."
"Hmm, you're welcome." He opened the plastic wrap of his sandwich and started to take a big bite. A really big bite. The sandwich looks so tempting. You should just accept it. You can smell the tuna from it. All you can do was just sigh quietly and back to look outside.
The man back to looking for something inside his bag. Again. He took another sandwich again! Will he give it to you? You had a little hope that he will, but it's vanished when he unwrapped the sandwich and take a big bite again. He's probably starving. The previous sandwich was tuna, you can smell the second one was chicken sandwich.
You're shocked when he's coughing loudly. No, he's choking. He kept coughing vigorously. You became panic when his face turned red and he shedded tears. He's having a hard time breathing. People starter to notice the incident but they did nothing. Their gaze made you even more panicked. You patted him on the back, still being careful. That's what people do, right?
"Are you okay?" Dumb question, you know. He didn't look okay at all. You kept patting his back harder. Your other hand tried to reach the water bottle inside your bag. He's still coughing and now you hit his back hard. It looks like it's finally work because he had something coming out from his mouth. He was panting, his face was still red. You took your hand off from his back and handing your water bottle to him.
"Here, you can drink this."
He took the bottle with his trembling hand. After he drank for like half of it, he gave the bottle back to you.
"Thank you so much." He said.
You took it and closed the lid. "Are you okay now?"
He nodded and smiled shyly. "Yes, thank you. I thought i was going to die. It's all thanks to you."
You smiled slightly. It was nothing, really. You were also so panicked because you couldn't do anything except to hit his back hard.
"Sorry i hit you too hard. It must be hurt."
He laughed, "No, no. Thank you. It saved me."
"If that so, i'm glad."
Two of you nodded and smiled to each other. Okay, this is so awkward. You played with your fingers. You didn't know if you should ask if he's really okay or do something else.
"By the way, what will you do in Gwangju? For vacation or something else?" When he's aware that you look a little bit surprised, he smiled warmly. "Oh, i didn't mean to be a creep to asked you something like that."
"I didn't think like that." Even though you feel a little bit uncomfortable. "I'm going to visit my grandparents." Of course you're lying. You don't want to take the risk to tell a stranger that you're going to be alone travelling around Gwangju. Again, the world is not save.
"Oh, your grandparents are here? That must be nice." He smiled again.
You just nodded and smiled back at him. You are just not good at talking with strangers.
"If that so, do you often go to Gwangju?" He asked. From his tone it seems like he wants to talk with you more.
"Not really." Your answered him modestly. Honestly, this is your first time visiting Gwangju. But of course you can't tell him that.
"Oh, I see. This is my first time in Gwangju. I wanted to take a short vacation alone. I wanted to ask you about good restaurants in Gwangju. For me, good restaurants are the most important one when we come to a new place..." He closed his mouth when he realized he's talking too much. Your face also seems uncomfortable. "Sorry. I'm someone who talks a lot."
"It's okay." You really mean it.
"Oh yes, I'm Younghyun. Kang Younghyun." He smiled introducing his name. His smile is cute, you thought. "You don't have to tell your name if you feel uncomfortable."
You stared at him. Why he doesn't want to know your name? Then what for he's introducing himself to you if he doesn't want to know yours?
He smiled seeing you confused.
***
In less than five minutes the train will arrive at Gwangju station. Finally, you thought. You started stuffing your stuffs in the bag. Your first plan is to find a good restaurant because you are starving right now and go to the guesthouse to leave your bags there. Then, you can visit one or two places. You glanced at Younghyun, he was cleaning his trash. A guilty for lying to him crossed your mind. Younghyun has the same plan as you. This is his first time to Gwanju for a short vacation alone. If you didn't lie, maybe you could find a good restaurant with him. After the small talk he seems like a good and fun person. Isn't this what you want? Go to new places and meet new people?
The train has stopped. You're finally arrived in Gwangju. Younghyun stood before you. He adjusted the straps of his backpack. You realized that the bag is the same as yours. Maybe he was also the one who bumped into you at Seoul station earlier?
He turned to you when you stand up. "If we bump into each other later, can i say hi to you?"
"Yes, of course." You answered without hesitation. The chance of meeting him is slim, right?
"Tell me your name when we meet again. Please send my regards to your grandparents." He waved his hand and walked.
You stared at his back. He is a tall man with a board shoulders. However, the way he talked earlier like he's teasing you. Did he know you were lying about visiting your grandparents?
You sit back down waiting for everyone to get off the train. You saw Younghyun walking from outised the window. He turned his head then smiled and waved his hands again. You can only smiled back. Why did he look so happy? But you like it, his smile.
***
You stopped at a small restaurant. From the building and decoration, you are sure that this restaurant is older than you. You decided to eat the traditional dish from this town.
You opened the door slowly. There are not many tables and you only see three people. A middle-aged woman greeted you and let you to sit at the table closest to the door. You chose your orders from the old menu book and the woman told you to wait with a warm smile before going into the door in the corner.
You looked around and there wasn't much that caught your attention. You hope the food is as delicious as the reviews say that you find on the internet. Your eyes stopper at the back of the man sitting at 2 tables in front of you. Wait, is that Kang Younghyun? His back looks so familiar. It must be Kang Younghyun. Your heart was beating so fast without a reason. You kept staring at him. If he looks back, what should you do? Smile? Greet him? Or pretend not to see? Or maybe he will ignore you? When he's done, he will definitely pass my your table. While you were still thinking what would you do if Younghyun see you, the middle-aged woman brought your order to your table.
"This is your order." Said the middle-aged woman putting a bowl and plate full with lots of food on your table.
"Thank you." You said in a small voice.
There was a screeching sound coming from a moving. You immediately lowered your head. No, Younghyun will definitely see you right away when he turns around.
Just right. Younghyun turned around and realized that someone was sitting behind him.
"Oh? You again?" He said with a bright smile.
You smiled awkwardly. "Hi."
Younghyun smiled widely. His eyes were sparkling. "Thankfully, i got here first."
You raised your eyebrows. "What do you mean?"
"I'm afraid you would think that i was following you if i got here after you."
"I wouldn't think like that." You said. Did he think that you find him strange?
"Glad to hear that." He kept showing you his sweet smile. "After this, are you going straight to your grandparents' house?" He asked, still standing by your side.
You nodded doubtfully. He kept talking about your grandparents who are actually in Seoul.
"Do you want to buy something for your grandparents first?" He asked with a hint of hope that you'd say yes. "You know there's a market around here, right? Maybe you want to buy some good street food there for you grandparents."
"Do you want to go there too?"
Younghyun nodded. "Yes, I like street food. If you want to go, would you go with me?"
You thought street food is not bad idea at all. You love street food, especially the ones they sell in the market. But is it okay to go with a stranger? You know his name you just met him. Besides you still haven't started eating your meal. "I want to, but you can go first if you want because i have to eat this first." Your pointed to the food on the table.
"It's okay. Eat slowly. I'll wait for you outside." Younghyun left you but you called him.
"Younghyun." The name still feels unfamiliar but you really like the name. "You can sit here." You pointed to the chair in front of you.
Younghyun smiled widely again. He loves to smile, you noted it on your mind.
"Okay, then." Younghyun sat down immediately.
It turned out that it's such a wrong decision because you felt awkward to eat in front of a guy you just met a few hours ago. There was no conversation between the two of you. You thought Younghyun also regretting not to just wait for you outside. It's so awkward.
When your eyes accidentally met at each other, both of you immediately turned your head to the opposite direction. You couldn't even taste the food right. You didn't know if it's good or bad. You're just trying to eat fast.
***
There were still a lot of people in the market. It's not the packed, you could still walk freely without bumping into other people. You and Younghyun walked side by side. So many food stalls that you can't decide what to buy. You took a glance at Younghyun that seem had interest with a long queue on the right side. It seems like the food is really good to have a quite people lining up.
"Do you want to buy that?" You asked him and finally he turned his head to you.
"The line is too long. Why? Do you want it?"
You shook your head. "No. I don't want to line up."
Younghyun chuckled. Actually he doesn't mind to line up if it's for a good food. But he didn't want to waste a time with you. He's really comfortable to walk side by side like this. That's why he hasn't stop at one food stall at all. Even though the corn dog at the entrance made him take a second glance.
"Oh, there's tteokbokki!" You ran to the tteokbokki stall leaving Younghyun behind. You can't skip tteokbokki whenever and wherever you see it. Younghyun giggled seeing you so excited for tteokbokki. He walked to you with small steps. Adoring how you patiently waiting your turn to order. He nudges your side lightly on purpose when he was standing next to you.
"You can find this easily in Seoul." He teased you.
You smiled shyly. "Yes, but it looks more delicious here."
You rushed forward when the people in front of you got their orders.
"Do you want it? It's my treat." You said to Younghyun. You count this to repay for the chocolate.
Younghyun nodded with a smile. It was adorable to see you so excited for tteokbokki. While you were waiting for your order, Younghyun said that he would buy something in another place.
You've already held two bowls of hot tteokbokki and you saw Younghyun came back with something on his hands.
"I hope you like strawberry juice." Younghyun handed you the juice. "Or do you want this? I bought cold mint tea."
You immediately took the strawberry juice from him. "I prefer strawberry juice. Thank you."
"Oh, so you don't like mint?" Asked Younghyun, leading you to keep walking.
"Not at all. It doesn't suit my taste."
Younghyun nodded. "Do you want to find a seat for a while to eat?"
You agreed and the two of you started looking for a place to sit. You easily found a place to eat.
You and Younghyun started to eat together. It turned out that the combination of strawberry juice and spicy tteokbokki is perfect. You watched Younghyun as he was wiping his sweat. He looked like he was having a hard time.
"Is it too spicy?" You asked, worried for him.
Younghyun sipped his ice mint tea. "Not really. I just can't eat spicy food well."
"Oh, I'm sorry. If it's too spicy, you don't need to eat it."
"No, no. I'll eat it. It's really good. I still can tolerate the level."
You feel relieved, then. You're fine if he doesn't eat it. You're afraid he just tried to be polite.
"By the way, where do you want to go while you're here?" You tried to open the conversation.
Younghyun shrugged his shoulders and sipped his tea again. "I don't know. Today I just want to eat a lot and then rest at the hotel. How about you? Do you just want to stay at your grandparents' house?"
You really felt like telling him that your grandparents are in Seoul, that you lied to him. You don't even have any relatives here.
"I don't know either." You really don't have a plan yet. Maybe to a museum or to a national park or you will take a walk in every market you come across.
"Oh i see. Hence you're here to visit your grandparents."
You swore you want to ask him to stop talking about grandparents.
Younghyun drank his mint tea until the last drop. "Maybe tomorrow I'll go to the lake. You know the place, right? I heard there is a nice garden there too. Have you been there?"
Of course not, you said to yourself. You shook your head. "Never. Is it a good place?"
"People say it's a nice place. How about we come together tomorrow?"
You didn't think this is a bad idea. Younghyun has tendency to make you comfortable. It was proven that you are still with him until now. If he made you uncomfortable, then you must had already run away since you met him at the restaurant.
"Okay, let's go together."
Younghyun smiled happily. He couldn't even hide his wide smile.
"Oh i forgot. I haven't said my name." You just remembered about your promise on the train.
Younghyun smiled meaningfully. "I know your name."
"What?" You said, surprised.
Younghyun said your name while pointing at the small keychain attached to your bag. Right, your name is on it.
"Nice to meet you .." he said your name again. It made your heart beating so fast.
***
You really loved how the wind blows. The air feels so refreshing here. You purposely came to this place at the morning. This place is so quiet just the way you like it. You can enjoy the view at ease. You waited for Younghyun at the bench closest to the lake. You were kind of regretting to not bring at least one casual dress. All you have is just a pair of shirt and pants. You're deep with the view in front of you that you didn't realized Younghyun has arrived and capturing the view with his camera, with you on the frame. Younghyun smiled to himself. He loved when the wind swayed your hair. He took another picture.
Younghyun called your name as he walked towards you. You stood up and look at him. You were blushing when you saw his clothes has the same color but different tone like yours.
"Wow we're wearing a matching outfit." He noticed that you also wear a blue color. He knew you're blushing. He needed to hold himself to not squish you.
"You are here." You said shyly and let him sit beside you. "What are we gonna do here?" You genuinely asked. Because you don't think you can do much except enjoying the view.
"What do you want to do?" He asked you. You look away because he looked more dazzling than yesterday. It seems like he styled his hair for a little bit.
"I'm okay just taking a walk or just sitting here enjoying the breeze and the lake."
"It sounds like a good idea. Do you want me to take your picture?" He asked you, showing his camera.
***
After taking a few photos, you and Younghyun decided to just walk around the place. Enjoying the fresh air and kept taking picture when you found a good spot. You also took several photos together. As the two of you walking, you talked about various things. Younghyun said he's frequently goes on vacation alone and without a plan. He feels comfortable doing that. He will just come to the station or terminal and buy a any ticket. When you heard him, you think he's a really cool person. You also found out that Younghyun is only one year older than you, he makes music and is also a Radio DJ. No wonder he talks so well and make you comfortable. You haven't told him about your lie, of course. You thought you just let him think that you are here to visit your grandparents.
***
Now you were here in a restaurant with a beautiful view. Walking around the lake and a beautiful garden was enough to make you tired and hungry. As soon as your food placed on the table, you and Younghyun ate it right away without saying much.
It was already evening after you and Younghyun finished your meal. Time flies so fast when you enjoying it, right?
"Do you want to go somewhere else?." Youngyun asked you after uou came out of the restaurant.
"Is there anything interesting around here?" You don't want to go home yet so it would be nice if the two of you can spend more time together.
"There's an art museum around here. What do you think?"
Art museum sounds good. But, you don't feel like going to a place like that. It's never been on your list.
Younghyun saw the hesitation on your face. "How about we go to the market again? I'm still hungry."
You smiled happily. "Good idea!"
Younghyun laughed, "Let's go then!"
He stretched out his hand and you took it. You walked hand in hand with Younghyun and both of your body became stiff when you realize what you were doing.
But neither both of you intended to take your hands off of each other. This felt so right. You have to take a bus to get to the market. It's too far for a walk. While you were waiting for the bus and even when you were already on the bus, your hands wouldn't let go of each other. Like a magnet. Your heart was pounding and you didn't dare to look at Younghyun's face even when you were sitting side by side on the bus. You thought that if you let go of his hand, it seemed like you wouldn't dare to hold it back.
Younghyun also had the same thought. If he lets go of your hand, he's afraid you wouldn't allow him to hold your hand anymore.
In his heart, Younghyun hoped that this bus will not make a stop. So he could stay beside you and keep holding your hand.
Jungkook throws his head back letting out a frustrated sigh. It's taking him a while to finish his assignment which was a rare occurrence. Since he's the top of his class. Straight A's. Perfect assignments. Never late. It frustrated him that human anatomy is taking effort of him to search and write about. Stepping away from his crammed desk he decides it's better that he takes a break or else he'll miss it up.
'It's a mess already' he thinks to himself as he takes a water bottle from his fridge making his way to the couch plopping down on it before turning on the TV. Breaking news was all over the channel. Jungkook with furrowed eyebrows changes the satiation only to find the one he changed to also has breaking news flash on the screen. He flipped through the stations only to be met with the same luck as the last. he leans back into the couch turning the volume up. 'Let's hear what's going on'
'Attention citizens...umbrella laboratory reported a breakdown early this morning causing patients to have ran away. Mark burnett the CEO of umbrella cooperation warns that if you encounter any patients that you turn them in without question. For your safety. That is all.'
Great. Just what this morning needed. Psychopaths running loose. Jungkook snorted. he glances outside to see people running inside. Hiding. He shakes his head before closing the curtains. His classmates sure are weird as hell. This is a college ground no one would break in. the building was gated all around it's impossible to walk through without ID.
They love to be dramatic. Without thinking much of it jungkook laid down on his double bed. Feeling restless. He drifted off to sleep.
A few hours passed and the sun had set. Jungkook was done with his assignment and now he was looking at the night sky. The stars were twinkling. It was so quiet that if a pin dropped you could hear it. A few minutes passed then he heard what sounded like twigs being broken in half. He didn't think much of it. Probably stray cats. But he heard it again so he stood up and looked outside then saw the Bush that is facing his window move again. His eyebrows furrow questionly. The wheels in his head were turning trying to make logic out of this. As the figure that was moving in the Bush size's is bigger than a cat but smaller than a bear...could it be a human?...no no..it can't be..
Until his eyes met the figure's eyes, it's eyes widen in fear and shock tgeir pupils dilated. then it moved further inside trying to hide itself from jungkook's eyes. His curiosity got the best of him he quickly jogged towards the nearest shoes he slid them on and opened the door and ran outside. Once he reached the Bush he stopped running and walked towards it slowly. The Bush branches moved suddenly which made jungkook's heart stop for a second. He glanced around but to his luck everyone was inside. No students were wandering around like the usual. Probably because of the news. He took a deep breath and approached the Bush again. his steps were hesitant but he needed to know what was hiding in the Bush.
He sqauted down glencing around again before he cleared his throat. He felt ridiculous but it wouldn't hurt to try. "You can come out...I won't hurt you" he softly spoke to the figure. their eyes stared at his. Then they looked at his hands. Jungkook raised them up quickly. Way to quickly which made the figure flinch and move further back inside. "Hey hey... look! I have nothing in my hands" he raise them up but moved them closer to the Bush so the figure can see them. "See..." he softly says the figure moved a little bit towards him but not enough. He still couldn't see them.
Anyone would be terrified if they were in jungkook's place but for some reason he didn't feel that way. The figure was far more afraid than he was. Obviously. They're hiding in a Bush if all places. Besides jungkook won a championship for being the fastest runner if anything he'd run away if the figure tried to lung themselves at him. "It's okay...I won't hurt you" he says again 'unless you try to hurt me' but the figure only stares at him. He sighs. This is so dreadful.
Was it even understanding him? By the looks of it..probably not. He knew he was being ridiculous but why not go all the way? he decides to ask a few questions to see if it understood him. "Blink if you can understand me.." the figure stared for what felt like a minute then it blinked. Jungkook let out a hearty laugh feeling relieved but soon that feeling went away. Humans need to blink! He felt so stupid. "That's not going to work..." he sighs. He needs more than a blink to know for sure if it understood him. Then his brain sparked with an idea. He smiles "Okay let's try again...shake the branches twice if you can understand me" the figure continues to stare at him but then the Bush started to shake twice.
At that he started laughing. Feeling like he accomplished something huge. "So you can understand me?" The bush shakes twice again and jungkook smiles with relief "I'm going to ask you a few questions if the answer is yes shake the Bush twice if no shake it once...got it?" The bush shakes twice. "are you afraid?" He asked. He wanted to facepalm himself of course they're scared. The Bush shakes twice once again. "I'm not going to hurt you..so..can you come out?" The Bush shaked once. His head fell with disappointment. He wanted to know what was hiding behind the Bush so bad. Or did he lose his mind and now he's imagining all of this? Frustrated he rubbed his face. "Aren't you hungry?" The bush shakes twice. The hope ignited within jungkook. "I have food...look...that window is my room" the figure's eyes moved to where jungkook pointed "...if you come out I'll give you lots of food wouldn't you like that?" It was silent for awhile. Seems like the figure was thinking it through. Jungkook stayed put afraid of scaring it away again. The Bush shakes twice again and jungkook smiles. "I'm gonna step away so you can come out yeah?" He stood up and took a few steps back before he crouched down again. Waiting."you can come out now...see I'm far away from you..I can't hurt you.." he reassures. He hears the figure let out a sigh before they started to crawl out of the Bush. Then Jungkook's eyes widen with shock.
The figure is a girl. She looks younger than him but only by a few years. She had a small cut under her left eye. It looked fresh so he figured it was from the Bush branches. Because the same cut was all over her arms and legs.What made jungkook's blood pressure go down was seeing the torn apart gown. It was the lab's gown and he knew that because Umbrella's logo was on the collar of it. She is one of the runaway patients.
Jungkook fell backwards at the realization. He was speechless he only stared at her as she sniffled and stared back at him. She sat on her knees not knowing what to do. She started to look around her and up at the dormitory building. She looked lost and so..out of place. Seems like she never saw anything because she had this look in her eyes. She was very amused by all of this.
"Holy shit" was the only words that came out of his lips. "You're umbrella's patient" her eyes snapped towards him when he mentioned the lab. she stepped back into the Bush. Not caring that the branches were cutting her skin again. jungkook moved towards her holding her by her arms to stop her from moving further. His fingers were digging in her skin "no no...don't be scared!" She tried to shake his hands off but he was much stronger. He pulled her back out. Panicking he said "we can't stay here we have to go inside...I'm not going to hurt you I promise!" He tells her. Praying to whoever was listening that she complies.
Jungkook hated doing this. But the only way she would comply is if he scares her into going inside. "If we stay here umbrella is going to catch you! or one of the students are going to turn you in...you have to come with me" jungkook tells the poor girl who only stared at him with a horrified expression. "You can't stay here the Bush makes too much noise you'll get caught...come with me it's safer inside" he tells her again. His heart was beating uncontrollably. What he was doing is extremely dangerous. But he wasn't going to let this opportunity pass him by.
What kind of understudy scientist would let this slip?! Jungkook needed this for his application. He can't get caught. If he kept her. to study her. and figured out why umbrella hid her and many others and demands for them back so desperately they must possess something strong. Where they have to keep them in a laboratory he could be one of Umbrellas scientists. Which was his dream. His life goal. And Umbrella would do anything to keep the information Jungkook is going to find out hidden.
The poor girl stands up hestaily. Jungkook smiles and takes off his jacket helping her put it on then zipping it up for her. She stares at him questionly. She is his golden ticket to work with umbrella the least he could do is give her some answers. "You can't be seen like this, you're wearing a hospital gown they'll take you away" he tells her she looks down at herself then looks up at him. He can see and sense the fear in her eyes. But he vowed not to give her up. Not yet. Not until he was done with her.
"You'll be okay" he tells her placing his arm around her guiding her towards his dorm room.
He crossed his fingers that no one catches him. And just hopes that hiding this stray human being in his dorm is worth it.
You Can't be Serious (Part 2)
A/n: the plot was originally a lot more thought out, and I don't really like the ending, but it is what it is. Sorry.
Summary: y/n and Shawn need to talk about what happened last night because what did happen just ain't it.
Warning: none
***
Shawn woke up in the morning with a massive hangover and the sun blinding him effortlessly. He groaned softly, reaching for his girlfriend, so that he could bury his aching head in her chest, only to find that she wasn't beside him like she normally was. With one eye open, he searched the room, finding no evidence that she had been in the room since last night. Her phone was still on the night stand, her pillow gone, and Shawn just laid there entirely off put by the overwhelming silence that consumed their bedroom.
He knows he messed up; he should have called her. But he was too preoccupied with Brian's promise of "stupid fun" to bother. He needed this night out with the boys because with all the time he spends at the studio now he never gets to see them anymore, and he's struggling with this new album on top of that. He just needed a night out when y/n wasn't asking him about work and how things were going because he knew he couldn't lie to her about it. He misses what comes with being friends with them: the unavoidable drinking constests, the girls constantly flirting with them (only since being with y/n he's never flirted back). Then of course there's the inevitable hangover in the morning - much like Shawn is sporting now- and then trying to remember just what happened the night before. In his heart, though, he knows that none of this matters. He hurt her because he didn't communicate with her, and that's one thing they've always promised to do.
You were in the kitchen, staring blankly at your coffee cup with a crick in your neck from the still too hard sofa that Shawn purely got because "aesthetic." His footsteps behind you are what brought you out of your own little world. You brushed off his soft "good morning" and took a sip of your now lukewarm coffee.
Shawn sighed loudly when you still hadn't spared him a glance in the three minutes that he stood in front of you. "So are we gonna talk about this or not?"
"There's nothing to talk about."
"Y/n, I said I was sorry. You can't seriously still be mad."
"I told you I wasn't mad, Shawn. I'm disappointed that you didn't tell me. You let me get ready and sit here like an idiot for almost two hours and you didn't even think to call." You stared hard at the marble counter that kept you two separate. "Then when you do finally text me back, you lie to me. We've been together for nearly nearly three years, why couldn't you just text me? You know I would have understood."
"I just needed a night out. Okay? I haven't seen the guys in a while and I wanted to spend time with them."
"Oh for fucks sake, Shawn, then why don't you tell me that?" You finally looked up to see that beautiful, ruffled head of curls that fell into his eyes. "Am I so unreasonable that you can't tell me that you want to spend the night with your friends? I don't care that you went out with them! I don't! I care that you promised me a date and then you couldn't even be bothered to cancel. I care that you've been pulling away from me for weeks. That's what I care about."
"I haven't been pulling away." Shawn said even though he knows it's a lie.
You scoff, "yeah right. Probably off flirting with some girls at the bar," you mumble under your breath. But he heard you.
"If you honestly think I would do that to you, then you've fucking lost it."
"Then what other reason could there be for you not talking to me? I'm worried about you!"
"That's the problem!"
"You're not serious," I glared at him.
"I'm stressing out at the studio," he finally admits. "And no matter what I do, it's never good enough. And I know that if I came home to you and told you, you would just try to convince me that I was wrong for second guessing. Or you'd try and figure out a way to help me fix it, find a muse or something. And I hate you worrying about me because there are other things that you could be doing with that time. My problems shouldn't be yours to fix."
"That's what you do in relationships, Shawn! You try and help your significant other so that they know they're not alone! I may not know much about the music industry, but that doesn't mean I don't want to know what's going on. Talk to me about the studio and the deadlines and everything else that comes with your job. I talk to you about mine even though I know you don't know a damn thing about it. Why is it so hard for you to let me into your world?"
"My world? Hon, you are my world! And that's the other problem. I can't focus in the studio because I'm only thinking about you. And then the songs are all sappy and over infused with love and no one wants to hear that. You haven't hurt me and it's really fucking with my head."
"So you bailed last night because I haven't hurt you? That doesn't make any sense." You take your mug and empty the contents into the sink.
"No, that's not it. I just - I thought that being away from you for a night was gonna somehow fix my stress levels because I wouldn't have to talk about it." Shawn shook his head and looked down at his feet. "I could just go to the pub, drink a few beers and just hang with the guys. I wouldn't have to sit and tell you how much I'm struggling with this new album and listen to you praise me. Because you do, you praise me. You think I can do no wrong. You think I hung the moon and I don't want to disappoint you because I can't do the one thing I'm supposed to be good at."
"Hey," You reached for his hand. "Look at me, Shawn. I know you're not perfect. I don't want you to think you have to be in front of me." You made your way to him, taking his face in your hands. "You are allowed to feel stressed and make mistakes and feel like you can talk to me about it.
"I know." He wrapped his arms around your waist and buried his still aching head in the crook of your neck. "I know."
"But what you shouldn't do is neglect your needy girlfriend. Because I get it, the boys miss you. Rightfully so. But I miss you in a much different way."
He groaned into your shirt, "I've missed you too. God, I'm an idiot. I'm sorry I disappointed you."
"It's okay, baby," you ran your hands through his hair. "How about you make it up to me by proving just how much you missed me."
He nodded, already placing soft kisses to your neck. "I can do that."
That's not kidnapping. But also, the situations you're talking about still don't line up. Stiles was at the end of his rope. It went unnoticed that he was kidnapped and attacked and he was just done. When the trouble started again he showed up. There's a difference between taking a skip day in the middle of a war and being the collateral of that war. So yes, two different opinions can exist.
According to Webster, to kidnap is “to seize and detain or carry away by unlawful force or fraud”
There’s the scene where Stiles is searching through the principal’s office looking for the Bestiary. He’s trying to find it and get back to Lydia who he has promised that he would be back in five minutes.
Stiles: Book, book, book. Nothing. Here. Oh m -
Erica: Hey, Stiles.
The next scene we get is Erica dragging Stiles to meet Derek at the swimming pool of myth. Derek is waiting for them with a basketball in his hands.
Stiles: Ah! Ah! Ah! Oh.
Derek: Stiles.
Stiles: Derek.
Derek: What did you see at the mechanics garage?
Stiles: Uh, several alarming EPA violations that I’m seriously considering reporting.
Derek deflates a basket ball with his claws in an attempt to intimidate Stiles.
Stiles: Holy God.
Derek: Let’s try that again.
If that wasn’t Derek having Erica drag Stiles to him by force so he can interrogate him, what is it? What’s a better word than kidnapping? Gerard dragging Stiles to his home by force was far more sinister and painful, but it was still kidnapping. If you think you have a better term for it, take your best shot. (Also – so much for all those people who thought that Stiles trusted Derek by now. If he trusted Derek, why did Stiles resist telling him about what he saw at the garage. Or was this the dreaded Banter.)
And here’s why I can’t take your argument seriously – “It went unnoticed that he was kidnapped and attacked and he was just done.” How can his kidnapping and attacking gone unnoticed since Scott sent him 17 text messages? Does Scott usually send him 17 text messages in a few hours? Doesn’t seem like it. You also seemed to have forgotten a few scenes.
Sheriff: I got to meet with the medical examiner and try to figure out what happened with Jackson. I’ve got an APB out on Stiles. His jeep is still in the parking lot, so that means - the hell, I don’t know what that means. Um - look, if he answers his phone, if he answers his emails, if either one of you see him -
Isaac: We’ll call you.
Scott: Look, he’s probably just freaked out from all the attention or something. We’ll find him.
(Italics mine.)
How can that possibly be interpreted – no matter how creatively – as his kidnapping and assault went unnoticed?
Or maybe this scene:
Scott: Is that everyone?
Isaac: I think so.
Scott literally tears the door off of Stiles’ locker.
Isaac: You’re gonna find him by scent?
Scott: Yeah, we both are.
Isaac: But how come you get his shirt and I get a shoe?
Derek: We need to talk.
Peter: All of us.
Scott: Holy sh -
(Italics mine.)
This is what I meant about the corrosive effects of the Scott is a Bad Friend trope. People invent things to be mad at Scott about and then turn around and misrepresent canon to fit their prejudices, so people actually end up believing that Scott simply didn’t care that Stiles was taken and assaulted.
Stiles’ kidnapping was noticed. His assault was noticed. Why wasn’t there a scene where Scott talked to Stiles about where the bruises came from or who kidnapped him? Because the audience had already seen what happened; it didn’t need another scene hashing it over. The production had established that Scott was determined to find Stiles until Derek and Peter stopped him.
Your disappointment is that Scott prioritized stopping Gerard and saving Jackson over rescuing Stiles. That’s exactly what Scott did – it’s called a Hard Choice (something that many people have complained that Scott doesn’t make, but he does.) And just so we’re clear on why.
Peter: Because if Jackson is dead, it didn’t just happen. Gerard wanted it to happen.
Derek: But why?
Peter: Well, that’s exactly what we need to figure out. And something tells me the window of opportunity is closing. Quickly.
Your absolutely right, the two situations are different. Stiles decided to sit this one out and ignore 17 text messages in a middle of the clock running down on Gerard’s plan to get an alpha kanima. As for Scott taking Allison on a birthday trip? Let’s look at the scene establishing the urgency of the day.
You have to remember, Stiles didn’t tell Scott he was going to Lydia’s. The alpha’s attack happened the night before the trip – and the production showed Scott was investigating! There had been no attack by the alpha during the day. There was no reason for Scott to think he was endangering people by giving Allison a happy birthday. What would have happened if Scott stayed in School that day. Stiles would have called him and Scott would have done what exactly? Nothing would have changed if Scott hadn’t take Allison to the park – Stiles would have just been less frustrated.
It comes down to the desperate and quite frankly, morally bankrupt idea that Scott is less than human when compared to Stiles or Peter or Derek. That he doesn’t have a choice anymore. It doesn’t matter that Scott was already helping track down the Alpha. It doesn’t matter that Scott had used his relationship with Allison to save Derek’s arm. Scott chose something for himself – and thus is a bad person – but when Stiles chooses something for himself (like preparing to make out with a drugged-up Lydia or initially choosing to sit out the final conflict with Gerard) it’s perfectly okay. Stiles is at the “end of his rope” so there’s nothing wrong with him sitting in his room while Erica and Boyd were tortured but Scott, mere days after being told that he’s been transformed into a cursed, killing monster and that he’s been targeted by an even bigger monster who will force him to kill his friends is not “at the end of his rope” and thus can’t take a day off to pretend to be normal even when no lives were on the line.
Double. Standard.
Exes & Angels | jjk
• genre: high school au | romance | mystery
• pairing: ex!jungkook x y/n
• warnings: jungkook's not using underwear (there's a reasonable reason for that); ¿maybe jimin has a crush on Jungkook¿ ; trust issues; I dunno
• summary: jungkook’s rambling
Jungkook was having a shitty day so far.
First, he forgot to wash his underwear in the weekend, so he just decided to go commando today bcs wtf was he gonna do at 6 in the morning?? Then, when running to class, he bumped into some weird guy.
"wtf man. Wanna fight?", the little guy said.
For a moment, Jungkook stopped dead in his tracks because he though he saw some fucking sparkling halo above boy's head. But Jungkook didn't sleep much that night anyway so.
"N-not now. Sorry. I'm running late.", which was technically true. The thing is Jungkook didn't care. And he didn't really wait for the sparkling guy's answer.
As soon as Jungkook entered the class he sat at his regular seat, the window's view being extremely appealing to him.
As all of us can imagine, Jungkook was a smart kid but he didnt really care since he knew he was also extremely hot. That thought came to his mind numerous times. He knew that he should probably quit high school and become a stripper. He was definitely done with this shit. In addition, that would bring a lot of fast easy money.
"Fuck, i forgot about breakfast.", he remembered, thanks to his body's noises. Then he try listening to class but that didn't worked that well for him since he has tendency to zone out real easily.
However, two knocks in the classroom's door echoed through Jungkook's ears and for some reason he was suddenly attentive to what was happening in the real world.
Soon after the knocking was heard, the teacher stood there like some earthquake emergency, in which he should tell the students to keep calm, keep calm but if you wanna come back to your mama, walk quickly.
Then he woke up. "Come in".
When the door opened, a dark-haired girl appeared She quickly smiled to the teacher as she entered the room. "Good morning. Sorry to interrupt your class", she said in a low, innocent voice, although something on him told him that she didn't really care about his class. But he was no more interested in what was happening so he just dropped his head again on the table.
"Don't worry. What do you need, y/n?", he couldn't see what was happening but Jungkook knew that the teacher's teeth were about to fall down if he kept smiling like that to the girl.
"Could I borrow... Jung Jungkook? He's from this class, right? Mr. Robert wants to talk to him", y/n kindly asked.
Something was wrong. Everyone knew Robert was done having conversations with Jungkook since what happened in the canteen 2 months ago. Or perhaps he decided to finally let that go of that. He hoped so. He didn't wanted to talk about that again. Besides, Namjoon deserved it.
Maybe this time Mr. Robert wants to finally have a real conversation. Maybe about last week's fire alarm's break out.
Oh well.
"Ah!", the teacher dropped too happily. Then he seemed kinda regretful. Yeah. Hide the excitement, you bastard. "Go talk to the principal, Jeon."
"Oh no, I can't What about your class? I was so excited about hearing about the... effect of.... molecular evidence on....the classification of...hm... organisms.", I said already reaching for the door. I don't know if you noticed but I was being extremely sarcastic.
"Ooooh, don't worry.", yeah, he prolonged that "oh" like that. He was also being sarcastic but I know that deep inside he would miss me. Everyone those.
"You know I always open an exception for you every time you need to do things outside my class, Jeon. C'mon. Go talk to the principal." He pointed to the door in a very nonsarcastic way.
"I will come back for you.", I didn't really said this. But it would be funny. Because I would never come back.
Now in the corridor, Jungkook felt real freedom. He could finally go home, eat pancakes and dress some sweatpants or something that wouldn't make his dick itchy.
"Ya. Where do you think you're going?"
Shit.
"You know I'm really grateful that you let me out of there. Seriously." He made a dramatic pause. Then he decided to push him hair back and for a second, he though he saw her rolling her brown dark eyes. "But we broke up, y/n. You need to find yourself another man."
For a moment she looked kinda offended. Then remember she had more important things to discuss with him.
"lol that's what's i've been trying to do. I though it was pretty obvious I was trying to seduce Jimin. I mean, he's cute as hell. He just.... he doesn't look normal, okay? And not the "He's-just-too-good-to-be-true"type. I mean, it's obvious that a man like him could never be compared as a simple human. Have you ever had a good look at him? He's a God. He's just beautiful and kind, and talented,and sooo funny. Absolutely boyfriend material,ya know. And his buttcheks?? I could never think of a better--"
"Okay, okay. I get it. And?"
"He isn't normal, jungkook."
"As you've been telling me."
"He seriously isn't normal."
"Who is?", I smirked. "Just tell me who this Jimin guy is already bcs i think I've never heard of him."
She frozed a little. Then she slowly approached him.
"Buy you saw him, right? I know you did. I saw you this morning with him. That's why I came to you.", she had her eyes real open by now. "You're the living prove that I'm not crazy. You're the only one who always believes in me, right?"
Jungkook took a good at her. She no more looked like the shy, innocent girl that came for him in the middle of class. Sure, she still looked like the typical social butterfly. She was always the type of person that just loved to befriend people here and there. Now she just looked kinda exhausted. Still beautiful, but exhausted.
So yeah, jungkook was fricking out a little bit. Something was wrong with her. He needed to calm her down, so he could go home.
Then she suddenly went closer to him, her voice quieter than before. "I also need to tell you about the weirdest part, BUT you need to promise me to keep secret. Promise me."
"Okay, go on."
"I'm serious, kookie. "
"Don't call me that. I told you before, right?"
"Do it."
"I, Jeon Jungkook, promise that I will never tell whatever you're about to tell me."
"I think I killed him."
Jungkook frozed. For some reason his vision started getting blurry. He didn't eat anything since yesterday. He needed to eat.
"Sorry. Can you repeat that?"
"It was an accident, Jungkook. An accident." Her face has becomed red, her eyes watery and her body shaky. "C'mon. If you don't believe in me, who will?".
"But I talked to him this morning. He's not dead, y/n"
"He really is."
"That's so fucking impossible, y/n." He pushed his hair back, but not in a seductive way anymore. "You can only be lying to me rn. What the fuck happened?"
She avoid jungkook's eyes. "I don't know! One minute we were just making out inside the school depository and next one, he--"
Jungkook hoped he wouldnt regret his next words.
"Prove it."
"You still won't believe me, do you?"
"Y/n. Where's the body?"
"If I show it to you right now....will you believe in me? Will you promise to believe forever in me?"
Jungkook looked around. He was not in the right mood to see a dead body rn. But It was 14pm and for some reason he saw no one.
He should probably come back to class anyway.
"The body is still in there here, ya know."
"What?"
"Don't worry. Obviously is hidden under some blankets I found in there. I can show it to you."
"Did you call the policy?"
Now she frozen on her feet. "No, ofc not. I can't go to jail. I can't. Please believe in me, Kookie. We could just go. As we talked about bef-"
Jungkook should definitely become a stripper after this. But for now, he needed to call someone. However, the phone was inside the classroom. He couldn't call the police without a crime. He needed to see for himself. Yeah, played with fire alarms but dont fucking mess with 911.
If that boy really was dead, y/n needed to be arrested. That's the truth. He will eventually need to discuss it with her. Just not now.
"Let's go, then", he finally decides.
"Yey", she said but not that excited - she even seemed a little disappointed?? - but took his arm between hers anyway and guided him from corridor to corridor.
When they first arrived the depository's door, Jungkook was expecting to her to free his arm but she didn't. She wasn't stopped trembling. She killed a man and can't stop shaking wtf. She was afraid. Well, Jungkook was the one who should be afraid. I mean she had a lot of time to get accustomed to the cadaver. But more than that, Jungkook was hungry. Poor Jungkook.
The next moment,he saw y/n taking from her pocket a metal key. How did she get that? The innocent shy girl who could never lie to anyone, was no more a good girl.
She unlocked the door. "You'll believe in me now, Kook." And they stepped inside.
"It's too dark", he said.
"I know, dummy. I'll search for the switch."
The light went on but he still couldnt see anything.
"Where the fuck is the body? Are you lying to me again?"
"What do you mean? He's right there. Look.", she started pointing weirdly to the floor in front of them. She looked mad. Almost like there was something there that only her could see.
'Y/n. Where's the body. I'm serious now."
"Right here, Kok. Come closer."
He did. He did come a little closer.
"I would never lie to you. He's right there. Right there."
Still searching for something , Jungkook collapsed on the floor after the strong sting he felt in his neck.
2/7.
