FAQ and Rules

What sort of content can I create for this event?

You can create whatever you want (fic, art, edits, etc). Any fandom is allowed, as well as OC stuff. NSFW is allowed, but please tag your content accordingly! The only thing not allowed is AI-generated content.

Do I need to make 31 things to participate?

Oh heavens no! You can make as much or as little content as you like, skip days when desired, or combine prompts (so for example, write something that covers a prompt from day 1, 2, AND 3). You don't have to do the days in order either, go wild! To be considered a 'completionist', you only have to make sure that at the end of the month, you've covered 31 prompts from 31 different days, but whether you do that in 31 works or just 1 is up to you.

What are these alts about?

If none of the three prompts of a particular day are your cup of tea, you can swap them out for an alt prompt of your choice.

What are these themes about?

Just a little bit of extra fun for the mods. Like last year, we'll be handing out various badges for people participating in the event. Formula Gender: A Trans F1 Fest is a creative fest for the F1 community celebrating trans people and their stories and is open to all forms of creative media. Our mods are @nobrakesdown, @seafoampearlygirl, and @waddlingpenguin!

The Rules

Works should focus on a character or characters who somehow identify as transgender, including any non-cis gender identity.

There is no word minimum for fics or requirements for art.

Works cannot be created using generative AI.

Fics can be posted in chapters but must be complete at the time of posting. 

Intentional transphobia on the part of the author is not allowed.  However, any other topic is allowed as long as it is tagged properly.

There is no penalty for not completing a work.

2024 Formula One Divorce Fest

The F1 Divorce Fest is a prompt meme challenge that aims to shine a spotlight on the teammate pairings that got split up at the end of the 2024 season. It runs from February 12th until July 24th 2025.

How it works

From now until March 31st, you are allowed to submit prompts to the AO3 collection.

From March 16th until May 18th, you can claim one or more of the prompts anonymously. Don't worry - there are open prompts for each ship if none of the ones listed speak to you.

You have until July 3rd to create and submit your work(s). There will be rolling reveals throughout the first "summer break" of the 2025 season (July 7th to July 24th).

What ships are allowed for the fest?

The main pairing of your work or prompt has to be one of these:

Mentions of those other drivers are allowed, but the point of the fest is to highlight the ships listed above! Please use your own discretion.

How long does my submission have to be? What about multi chapter fic?

Minimum word count of 1k, encouraged 1.5k. No Maximum.

Multi chapters are allowed as long as the first chapter fills the word count and you pinky promise to finish them.

Can I prompt and not write? Can I self-prompt?

Yes to both. As both prompting and claiming is anonymous until the reveals, you are free to claim your own prompts.

What if I can't finish my submission by July?

The event is purposefully long, in order to give participants as much time and freedom as possible to complete their works. That said, things can always happen, be that writer's block or IRL, and no one will bite your head off if you cannot fill your prompt in time. Ideally, you let us know so that we aren't in the dark once Jul comes around.

There will be check-ins and writing sprints in the discord, should you want them to hold you accountable. You can also use the channels there to brainstorm and discuss to help your writing process.

What about ratings or darker themes?

As long as the prompt you are filling has not specified any DNWs, you are free to write about any themes, kinks, tropes, and within any ratings and warnings. Remember to tag them properly, and go nuts.

Kataang Halloween is a one-time, three-day mini-event hosted and created by @kataang-week on Tumblr for the first time this year. (However, there is potential for it to happen again in the future.) Kataang Halloween celebrates Kataang with a Halloween theme. All prompts were chosen by the mod team.

🧹 What’s a Big Bang?

A Big Bang is a fandom event/challenge where writers craft a long-form fanfic (minimum 10k words), and artists are matched to them to create visual art of all different kinds, inspired by their story. At the end of the challenge, both the story and the art are revealed together—(with a BANG! <- pun intended)

This is a classic Big Bang.

📚 Writers: What You Need to Know

Minimum word count: 10,000 words.

Your fic must focus on Gelphie as the primary ship. Other characters and relationships are welcome, but Elphaba/G(a)linda must be the emotional heart of the story.

Genres, Crossovers, and AUs are absolutely welcome—bring on the gothic dramas, soulmate AUs, non-magical AUs, There's nothing wrong in Oz, Elphaba had caring parents, Gangster 1920s AUs, and more.

No previously published work. You must write a brand new fic specifically for this event. Though, if you have a fic that you have not updated in at least 6 months that you'd like to use this as a means of inspiration to get you to finish it, those will be considered on a case by case basis.

First drafts must be actual drafts, not just outlines. They must be at least 6,000 words and include the full arc (beginning, middle, and end). You can polish after matching, but give your artist something real to work with!

Final fics go live during the reveal period only. No sharing snippets or edits early unless scheduled as part of the Big Bang and requested by this blog/Mod. In short, no early posting. You’ll get instructions closer to the deadline for how to post to AO3.

🎨 Artists: What You Need to Know

You’ll be matched with a story that inspires you—based on a blind summary selection process (you won’t know the author’s name when choosing). This will need to be a first come first serve basis, as all fics need to be paired.

Art requirements:

Images must be at least 400x600px.

Videos must be at least 1 minute long.

Fanmixes must include cover + back art (400x400px min) and at least 6 songs with accessible links.

Any type of visual or audio fanart is welcome: digital art, traditional art, manips, vids, music, fanmixes, etc.

Your work must be original and unpublished before the reveal date. No reposting old works.

Some flexibility with edits is okay after matching, but talk with your writer before making big changes.

Art will go live during the reveal period. Please wait to crosspost off AO3 until reveals are complete so both fic and art can shine (in a galindified approved) way!

There will be an AO3 collection to publish both fic and art. If you don’t have an AO3 account, I can help you get one!

Once you submit, your work will be unrevealed (hidden from the public) until the official reveal date.

You’ll be able to edit your submission until reveals begin.

You can crosspost your work anywhere (Tumblr, Instagram, FFN, etc.) after reveals are done.

💔 What if I Need to Drop Out?

Life happens! If you need to drop out, please do so before you are matched with a partner. That way, no one is left hanging mid-process. I’ll communicate drop-out deadlines clearly via email and this Tumblr. If you drop out respectfully and in time, you’re absolutely welcome to join us for future Gelphie events! In the event that you need to drop out after you've been paired with someone, that is where a Pinch-Hitter will come in.

🚨 Important Rules

No plagiarism. That includes fic, art, AND AI-generated content that replicates others’ work. If your submission is found to use AI it will be removed.

If you suspect plagiarism, please do not report it unless you have clear evidence, such as a side-by-side comparison.

December Klaine Fanworks Challenge!!!

Once again, this will be a 21 day challenge! Hopefully giving everyone time to complete the event before other obligations kick in, or time to catch up if you like.

The Dates. December 1 - December 21 

The Words. Every day around 6am, US Eastern Standard Time, a fresh new word will pop out of the queue. This year the words are not alphabetical, and were chosen by a random word generator. We’ve got a pair of wonderful artists this year working up the slides, so say a big thanks to @mynonah and @justasmallbloginabigklainefandom!  They both did AMAZING work on a very last minute schedule! 

Keep in mind that a lot of words have many definitions, and the one listed is only a suggestion. Feel free to incorporate any definition you like. Also - we often get asked if it has to be the exact version of the word listed - and while I’m not the word police and you can do what works for you, isn’t part of the fun making it work? 

How to participate. Anyone can contribute, no need to sign up! There will be a single word prompt post each day for 21 days (December 1-21). You can write a drabble (or a sentence or a novel, if you like), create an art piece, make fresh gifs based on the prompt - whatever inspires you! This year the tag will be: “december klaine challenge 2024” and please tag with the word of the day so volunteers can ID the posts they need to reblog (please please please make sure all of your contributions are tagged so we can find them!). 

Contribute however works best for you. You can do something every day, every 4th day, once a week, altogether at the end, whatever works for you and your schedule. Use all the prompts or pick and choose what speaks to you. Set your own challenges. The only requirements for the Challenge are that it be Klaine centered, and that it references or uses one the word (or theme) prompt in some way.

Volunteers will be reblogging fics to the @todaydreambelieversfic blog, so you can always go scroll the blog to find the latest entries.  Of course everyone (especially the authors!) would be delighted if people reblogged to their own blog - the more people who reblog something the wider the potential viewing audience. We want to encourage everyone to reblog as many fics as they like all throughout the month!!

Partnership. This year again we’ll be partnering with @todaydreambelieversfic.  Authors and other creators for the December Klaine Fanworks Challenge who would like an additional place to promote their works are welcome to join as members. Just send a private message to @todaydreambelieversfic with your email address and they’ll add you to the blog membership.

Archive of Our Own. We have created a collection on AO3 for those people who don’t post to tumblr, and where those folks who do post to tumblr can share their advent works if you like! You can find this collection here!

“But what if I don’t write or make art and don’t have time to volunteer?”  You are the most important person in the Challenge!! What is Dimileth Garden Gala?

The Dimleth Garden Gala is a 3-day weekend event on Bluesky and Tumblr. Events created for the Garden Gala celebrate the Dimileth ship (with F!Dimileth, M!Dimileth, or any other version) from Fire Emblem: Three Houses using the theme of the Language of Flowers.

Creators are encouraged to choose multiple or just one plant or flower to fit into your Dimileth Garden Gala fanworks.

See our carrd for more detailed information. For help choosing a flower/plant or flowers/plants, check out our flower reference guide. Flowers or plants chosen are not limited to those in the guide. Please use any flower or plant meaning and any flower or plant you want!

What is the theme for the upcoming event?

How do I participate?

The most common ways to participate are by creating art or writing a fic and posting it online. Some people may try and create something for every day while others might want to only fill one or two prompts.We want to reassure you that it’s perfectly okay not to participate every day! We're just excited to share what you create each day.

What kind of work is accepted?

Anything is accepted, no matter what fanwork you submit! You can sing a song, create a graphic, write a poem, or make a video (or anything else you can think of). You can also show your support by retweeting and liking other people’s contributions.

Please keep fanworks focused on the Dimileth ship (of any version) and use the Language of Flowers theme. The Tea Soirée edition has an additional tea party theme, so incorporate tea time, tea, or even a tea party in your submissions!

Dimitri and Byleth should always be the main ship focus even if there are other ships involved. You can use as many flowers or plants and flower or plant meanings each day that you want.

Is this event SFW or NSFW?

Generally speaking, there are no explicit SFW or NSFW prompts involved. However, this event can be whatever you make it as long as you tag works appropriately.

How should I tag my work?

The easiest way for us to find your work so we can repost/reblog it is to use #DimilethGardenGala. You should also @DimilethGarden.You are also welcome to use any other Dimileth or Fire Emblem tags so that more people can find your work.

If there are any warnings, tag them appropriately and thoroughly.

Can I post my stuff to other places online too?

Of course, you can! If you want us to know that you've posted elsewhere, feel free to DM us the link on Bluesky (@dimilethgarden.bsky.social), Tumblr (dimilethgarden) or our email (DimilethGardenGala@gmail.com).

What if I'm late?

If you cannot complete your fanworks for the event in time, please do not fret. You can alert us by mentioning it in your post (ex. @DimilethGarden) or messaging us and your content will still be shared even if it is a week (or a month - or sometimes more!) late.We also like to post WIP for the Dimileth Garden Gala and encourage everyone else to do so. We'll repost/reblog it if you @DimilethGarden!

Newt/Hermann Secret Santa-Winter Exchange 2024! ❄️👨‍🔬❤️👨‍🔬❄️

It's November, so it's time for what I can only assume is everyone's most beloved holiday tradition, the Newt/Hermann 2024 Secret Santa-Winter Exchange!

To join the exchange, sign up using this form by Friday, 11/29/24.

How does it work? If you sign up for the exchange by November 29th (EDIT: extended sign-up date!), I’ll randomly and anonymously match up all participants and assign you a giftee by Tuesday, December 3rd. It’ll then be your responsibility to create some form of Newt/Hermann content (fic, art, etc.) for your giftee by January 31st, 2024, and in return, someone will make some form of Newt/Hermann content for you!

Keep your giftee a secret until you share your gift with them!

Like last year this deadline is a little extended compared to past exchanges. Though you are of course welcome to finish up your gift as early as you would like!

There are some more specific details about signing up in the form, as well as a spot to share your ‘wishlist’ (i.e., tropes or scenarios you just can’t live without that might be helpful if your giftee needs some inspiration!), and another spot to indicate interest in being a pinch hitter.

Why hold an event?

Because we love Hellcheer! We’ve had three incredible years of an amazingly talented, creative community and it feels like a good opportunity to celebrate since they came into our lives.

What does it involve?

We’ll open a prompting form for you to submit any prompts. Sign up using our form and let us know some important information. We'll send you a bingo card on May 28th-June 1st and then you can start creating for your squares! The event opens July 1st for you to post them - but please feel free to keep writing too. We'll reblog anything you've done until 1st September.

It’s up to you if you want to go for one square, three, or a full board blackout! 

Do I have to write new content for the event?

Yes, it will be new works only - fic, art, gifs or moodboards are all acceptable for square fills. However, we will have a WIP mini event in June!

Will there be an AO3 collection?

Yes; we'll create a new collection for this event and let you know the details. As usual, it will be moderated just to check that every entry is valid.

When does the event run? 

July 1st until 1st September. Admins will reblog posts for an extra day, for anyone running a little behind or in case we missed anyone!

How do I sign up?

We'll be opening the sign up form shortly. We'll ask for things like your Tumblr name, your AO3 username and what kind of prompts you do and don't want. We'll also ask for an email, as this will be how we'll contact you.

How involved do I have to be?

That is really up to you - we're very relaxed. You can do as many or few bingo squares as you'd like. There is no pressure.

Who is running the blog?

Three years ago, the idea of an anniversary event was created by the members of the Hellcheer, this is for you Discord. Three years later, we're still going and lots of our lovely Hellcheers have helped out in some way through all of our events. One of my favorite parts of this event is that every year I meet new people who want to help out. We'll do a full post introducing everyone.

This could be about moments of introspection, where a character seeks time alone to reflect on their life and choices. What about characters who reflect in the presence of others, where unspoken words allow for deeper connection or insight? It could be about the reflective stillness before a major decision, where the weight of possibilities grows heavier. Or, what about characters reflecting on what they’ve lost, finding peace in the quiet acknowledgement of their grief? For a twist, consider reflection literally: a reflection on a mirror, water or a window. What about reflecting a battle move or a spell? Or characters whose movements in battle reflect how much they know each other?

We’ll be tracking #PolyamShippingDay, and keeping an eye out for any @polyamships mentions too. We will reblog any polyam-positive fanworks featuring polyamorous ships of any configuration/type from any fandom. All ratings are welcome but anything nsfw/triggery should be warned for and behind a read more, as should very long tumblr fic.

You can also submit works directly to the blog or send us asks to let us know to check your blog for a post. despite being an avid ao3 user for years i have never managed to figure out how to make a collection of bookmarks. i know you can add bookmarks to a collection rather than adding the actual work to a collection, but for some reason i just cannot figure out how.

i’d love to be able to make collections of different types of fics to make it easier to go back and reread favorites with different themes that i can’t easily organize by filtering my bookmarks, but this particular skill has evaded me all these years 😩

Nonnie I have excellent news -

It is so much simpler than you think.

First you make a collection. If you don't know how, or want a refresher, there is an excellent tutorial Here on the FAQ.

Then, all you have to do is edit a bookmark, or make a new one, and there will be a little box that says Add to Collection - just fill in the name of your collection and BAM. Bookmark collection.

(Really I don't think you even have to make the collection first, you can create one right from the bookmarks page, but I have never done it that way because I need to have the exact collection page name copypaste-able or I will forget what I am doing)

It is that time of the year when we start to wonder about this fandom. What are they doing? Are there new fics? Is there someone still active in there? Are people still writing prompts?

To be honest, we don’t even have half of the answers. But what we know is that it’s time for us to get ready to create, enjoy and celebrate the love we have for these two old mutants because…

Cherik Week 2025 is coming soon!

Some of us know that this year, Team Cherik has decided to take a well deserved break. However, this doesn’t mean that we’ll stop and forget about this cherished tradition of giving an entire week to our favorite mutants: Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr.

That’s why, a little group of fans (with Team Cherik’s blessing), has decided to take the lead this year. We are trying to make this with enough time so everyone involved in this community can have all the time and inspiration needed to leave heart and soul in each and every single one of their creations.

And just highlighting that, even if you can’t actively participate, you can always support all those writers, artists, friends, mutant brothers and sisters, by liking, commenting and sharing their works.

We all know how important it is for us to receive that feedback and we’d love to keep this lovely community as supportive as always.

Gallavich Fanart Masquerade 2024

It's here! Our first ever fanart-only event (thanks @michellemisfit for the idea!).

The rules are pretty similar to the fanfiction masquerade. In a Masquerade, artists will create fanarts anonymously, attempting to create something in a style different from their usual in order to fool the "admirers". These fanarts will all be revealed at the same time on May 12th - our Fanart Masquerade Ball! - and admirers (who may also be other fanartists) will have two weeks to attempt to guess who's behind each mask, that is, who did which fanart.

Requirements

None. Any art style will do, as long as it's drawn, I suppose. Traditional or digital, colored or b&W or lineart... Just no edits. And absolutely no AI, of course.

Sign-ups

Signing-up is required and can be done here. For this event, sign-ups can be done up to the time of posting. Unlike other events, this is one where you will need to sign-up only at the end, after the art is done. You'll be required to add your AO3 username and the title of your fanart (yes, you'll have to give it a title, sorry - it can be pretty simple though).

Is NSFW accepted?

Yes, as long as it is correctly tagged. Please keep in mind that in this case, it's possible some people might not be comfortable in viewing it.

What if I don't have an AO3 account?

Then I'm very sorry, but in this case, you won't be able to participate (as an artist). For his event, having an AO3 account is mandatory so that you can post in the collection. That being said, a lot of people have AO3 invites, so ask right now and someone may be able to send you one. (Or, worst case scenario, we can find writer buddies to post for you.)

Posting

Posting needs to be done on AO3 because the Fanart Masquerade Collection will be unrevealed and anonymous. All posting must be done until the eve of the Masquerade, so May 11th. On May 12th, all the fanarts will be revealed and available for the admirers. The fanarts will remain anonymous until May 26th, when the game ends. The winners will be revealed shortly after, along with the prizes (more on that below). After the artists identities are revealed, they are free to post their fanart wherever they please.

Because unfortunately AO3 doesn't host images, your fanarts will have to be hosted elsewhere and linked to AO3. They should stay as hidden as possible. One possibility is posting privately on Tumblr and then using the image link to post on AO3. If you don't know how to do that or don't have a place to host the fanart, please contact us and we'll help you out.

When posting on AO3, choose to do it under the Gallavich Fanart Masquerade 2024 Collection (as in the picture below). I'll take care of the rest. It's important to do so when posting and not after, or it won't work.

Voting

Voting will be done via a new form, which will be disclosed only after the fanarts are posted. All fanart titles will be displayed and the admirers will chose from a menu who they think the artist is.

Points

There are two ways of winning this game, as an artist and as an admirer.

Artists are awarded 1 point for each person who correctly guesses their fanart and 3 points for each person who wrongly guesses it. That's right, you get more points if you're actually able to deceive everyone!

Admirers are awarded 5 points for each fanart they guess correctly, but they lose 1 point for each wrong guess.

Artists can also be admirers, so they have twice the chance of winning.

Prizes

The winning fanarts will get short fics based on them! And the one by the winning artist will be the prompt for one week in the @galladrabbles.
