Apologies for another question so soon but the Teacher arc is still gripping my brain after rereading it and forgot how close it seemed Sveta was to biting it/the sorta brush with death, and vice versa w Ashley and making it and both were arguably the people Victoria was closest to on the team… So I have to ask… what if Sveta was the member of Breakthrough who died during the Raid itself? Victoria’s losing her best friend/almost sister rather than her totally not girlfriend to be. Even outside how it would change Kenzie and Victoria’d trajectory that arc given everything with Damsel in the arc after there’d certainly be a lot of ripple effects.

I think the thing with Ashley is that Victoria had to repress a LOT of her emotions and depression because she was focused on raising Kenzie.

Victoria was the Adult and Kenzie was her Child, and Kenzie was the one who needed Protection/Safety/Cuddles because her adoptive mom died.

The entirety of arc 16 and arc 17 is Victoria reeling from Ashley's death but having Kenzie around meant that she couldn't afford to wallow, because Kenzie was her kid and her kid needed support.

Sveta would be VERY different. She is the closest person Victoria had to legit family barring Crystal (and later Kenzie), and we see that the idea of Sveta suffering despite Victoria's best efforts in arc 13 was enough to make her into a sobbing mess.

Sveta's entire interlude is about how Victoria and her have that unbreakable bond, keeping each other sane while dealing with fates worse than death.

When Sveta was nearly murdered by Amy, that was the catalyst for Victoria to tell Mark that he was a fuck up parent who should be doing his job to make sure Amy wasn't going to hurt anyone, and made her vow to never make amends with Amy.

If Sveta died in arc 15, I think we'd see a fundamentally broken Victoria. She'd have no one to pretend to be strong for, so it would be up to Kenzie, Ashley, and the remainder of Breakthrough to try and keep her together. Tattletale might notice how messed up Victoria is and either her protective instincts go off the charts or she panics and distances herself because of Taylor flashbacks.

The only upside is that I can imagine it might have Vic and Jessica reunite to grieve sooner.

The potential worst case scenario is that Victoria goes into shardspace and dives DEEP, trying to resurrect Sveta or do something, and she comes out less than 50% sure that she is Victoria Dallon. A bit more of Fragile One in her body than around it.

Eddie feels the need to take his thoughts away from the public eye. Even if nobody can actually see them, he'd feel safer marinating in them in solitude. 

The inside of the house is chiller than the outdoors, which reminds Eddie of the financial gap between him and Steve. Whoever was in charge of building this place, must have known his shit. The Munson trailer is impossible to sit in without melting in the summer days. 

From his safe perch on the kitchen island, Eddie looks over the party outside. Everyone is having fun and none of them has any idea about his perverted, subconscious scheme. He's kind of disgusted with himself, but on the other side, he wonders what his brain has been trying to accomplish. He wonders if Steve was freaked out last night when he started undressing in front of him and if swinging his dick out this morning was an act of revenge. 

On one hand, Steve looks innocent and lovely in the afternoon sun, laughing at whatever joke someone has said. On another, he's a bat-biting lunatic with a mean streak known through the whole Hawkins High. He absolutely could flaunt his ass out of spite.

When the glass door opens, Eddie almost jumps out of his skin.

"Sorry." Will smiles apologetically.

"You're fine, Byers. Just drifted off a bit. What's up?" he asks with a tilt of his brow. The kid had an imagination that could match his own, and he'd grown fond of him even in the short period of time he'd known him. 

"I volunteered to grab sodas for everyone." Will points his thumb to their friends sitting outside. "Figured you wouldn't want Dustin bothering you if you need some space." 

Eddie can't help but smile. 

"That's very thoughtful of you, Will the Wise."

Will shrugs. 

"I try." He walks up to the fridge, but he seems to hesitate there. Eddie gives him time to think, sipping on his soda. "Do you need space? Or do you want to talk?" he eventually asks. 

The older boy hums. 

"I think it's too soon to talk about it. I'm not even sure what it is," he admits, heels kicking against the cupboards below him. 

He startles again when Will appears at his side.

"For fuck's sake, get a bell or something!" he hisses, clutching at his chest. But Will ignores his joke, looking thoughtfully somewhere else. 

"You've been spending a lot of time with Steve."

Eddie forces his shoulders to relax. There's no way he was that obvious, right? He himself has just figured it out. 

"Well, we can't spend all our time with you twerps," he defends. He risks looking towards the party and finds Steve looking back, frowning at the two of them talking inside. But he sends Eddie a small smile and turns back to the grill.

"No, of course. We're too young to chat about wills and taxes," Will shoots back with a serious nod. 

Eddie slaps his shoulder.

"Watch it, youngster, or there won't be any Will in my will." 

Byers presses his lips together, but Eddie knows it is a good joke, the kid just doesn't want to admit it. They're all buttheads like that.

"You know I'm gay, right?"

He blinks at the boy. 

"That's not going to take you off my will," he reassures, but Will's expression turns only more pained. "No, seriously, I don't care. As long as you're not diddling kids, or animals, or, or corpses—"

"You know what?" Will pushes away from the counter to gather the sodas he's been sent for. "Forget about it. Figure it out yourself. And please never use that word again."

"Which one? Diddling?"

"Yes. That."

Will is halfway through the living room when Eddie suddenly realizes what just happened. Little Byers was trying to give him The Gay Talk.

Little Byers. 

Who must have barely figured it out himself. 

Eddie shoots up from the counter, almost falling on his face in the process. 

"Byers, wait!" He sprints the small distance to stop him from getting to the door. Will looks unimpressed but he's more focused on balancing the cans in his arms so he stands still and waits. 

"Am I really that obvious?" Eddie asks in a whisper, sparing a worried glance over his shoulder. Thankfully none of their friends' attention was on them.

"You both are," Will informs him with a roll of his eyes. "It almost hurts to watch." 

It stuns Eddie enough that Will pushes through him towards the door. 

"Both? What do you mean both?"

"Figure it out!" Without looking at him, Will opens the glass door and leaves him alone with his thoughts again. And that's a dangerous company on a good day.

Because, both?

Could Steve Harrington, high school heartthrob, and Mister Hair, be into guys? Into Eddie, of all of them?

He looks up to search for him again, but it's not hard, as their eyes meet again. Steve raises his eyebrow and makes a little sideway nod as if asking him if he's coming back. Eddie nods wildly, makes a "T" with his hands, then points one finger up. In a minute. Steve smiles, visibly relieved, and holds up two plates of deliciously looking food.

Eddie's stomach somersaults as he realizes he has saved food for him. He quickly runs away to the kitchen to collect himself and grab something to share as well. 

On his way back, he passes by the stairs and suddenly freezes as the memory of last night hits him. 

Maybe Steve wasn't looking at his crotch because he was grossed out by Eddie's actions. 

Maybe they both should be sprayed with cold water like horny dogs.

hello Omninet! this is your local vodka aunt cousin Slipshod speaking. I've finally finished sorting through the metric fuckton of booze I got sent anonymously (with no help from my squadmates, since K went to go visit Gray and P is... busy), so it's time to break this shit down by the numbers and let y'all know what's all on the table. gonna start with the raw stats, then start getting into the specifics

first: the numbers, i.e. the boring shit

as you all know, the ask specified that there were "approximately 70 crates" of booze, and that's correct. there are indeed 70 crates of assorted alcohol sitting in my corner of the hangar, as you can see behind me. what was not specified was how many bottles constitutes a "crate", and as such, I had to count every single fucking bottle myself. the things I do for you nerds...

if my count is accurate (which it better damn well be, I counted twice just to make sure), there is a grand total of... seven hundred and thirty-six bottles of booze!

now, clearly, whoever sent these did not take into account the very limited space in which my vodka collection is stashed, so there's no way in hell that I'll be able to keep all of this. more details on that coming later; for now, let's break these numbers down into something more tangible

among this batshit insane pile of booze, there are:

19 bottles of gin (K's favorite) - 19 bottles of whiskey (P's favorite) - 7 bottles of tequila - 35 bottles of vodka (now you're talking!) - 9 bottles of rum - 48 bottles of beer (four full 12-pack cases, each case had a different brand) - 24 bottles of mead (two full cases, also 12-packs) - 26 bottles of hard cider (two 12-pack cases, plus a few extra) - 14 bottles of everclear - 6 bottles of absinthe - 16 bottles of assorted coffee liquors - 2 bottles of Jägermeister (where the hell did they find this? I thought this shit was illegal!) - 21 bottles of assorted schnapps - 26 bottles of assorted wine (5 of which aged into vinegar on the way here) - 43 bottles of homebrew mead (all from the same batch, too, from the looks of it) - 25 bottles of homebrew moonshine (or some other kind of illicit grain alcohol) - 12 bottles of sake (full 12-pack case) - 3 bottles of Midori (melon liquor) - 38 bottles of kvass (fermented rye bread drink - less of a true alcohol and more like kombucha) - 27 bottles of perry (pear cider) - 5 bottles of palm wine (wish I was kidding, but it's legit - wonder where they sourced this from?) - 48 bottles of ginger beer (four full 12-pack cases) - 8 bottles of cachaça - 13 bottles of applejack (apple brandy) - 2 bottles of Chambord (raspberry liquor - aka "holy hand grenade" because of the bottle shape) - 1 bottle of Malört (wormwood liquor) - 14 bottles of scotch - 22 bottles of bourbon - 4 bottles of champagne (how did these not explode in transit?) - 36 bottles of "Armory Reserve Black Powder IPA" - 1 bottle of "SSC LUX-Iconic Ambrosia" - 24 bottles of "Northstar Brewing Co. Starseeker Ale" - 12 unlabeled bottles, embossed with the HORUS logo - 11 bottles labeled "KTB Royal Distilleries" - 12 bottles of mead(?) marked "New Levra" (as in Headlock's home planet?) - 20 bottles of grain alcohol labeled "CMC G.W." (as in CORSAIR?)

and, finally, 83 bottles of assorted spirits which were all too spoiled and/or suspicious to merit being drank, and subsequently got dumped. holy fuck this is so much booze.

which brings me to part 2: the weird shit

obviously, there's a lot here to sort through, from various corners of Union space (and probably beyond). gonna use this next section to highlight some of the truly unique stuff in the haul, plus a few of the bottles I've already opened and my opinion of it. enough yapping - let's get into it!

Northstar Brewing Co. Starseeker Ale: not bad! I'm not a beer drinker, but it's an IPS-N product, so I knew it wasn't gonna be awful. this kind of beer is called a red ale (I think), and it's got something vaguely fruity about it under all those hops. solid 5/10; acceptable, but not outstanding

New Levra mead(?): very curious about this one. haven't opened any of it yet - might try to invite Headlock over and see if he knows what this stuff is. looks like mead, smells like the trench. ???/10

Armory Reserve Black Powder IPA: disgusting. I was already convinced those fucks at the Armory have shit taste in booze, but trying this just confirmed it. horribly bitter, almost to the point of tasting burnt. -100/10, would not recommend. (might give a bottle to K and see if she recognizes it at all)

palm wine: apparently this shit dates back to ancient Cradle - I had no idea there were still places in the galaxy that even made this. VERY potent, one sip just about knocked me over. usually I don't recommend diluting booze, but this one might need it. 3/10, way too sweet for my tastes

"CMC G.W." grain alcohol: didn't know CORSAIR had an illicit moonshine rig hidden on the Requiem, but hey, I ain't judging. tried a sip of this and damn near spit it out; tastes like everclear with an unpleasant motor oil tinge. definitely using this as a mixer in the future, wouldn't dare drink it straight again. 1/10, no offense to anyone at CMC

Nemiroff Honey-Pepper Vodka: this was one of those 35 vodka bottles I mentioned up top. for those not already aware, I am a collector of strange and unusual vodka flavors, so to see such a wide variety (as well as a few bottles of the good stuff) made me very happy. this one caught my eye right away, on account of the tar-like color. my review? smells like a Trunk Security officer's boot, tastes like getting smacked by a charged D/D 288, burns like licking a nuclear reactor mid-meltdown. 6/10, might not be a bad mixer if I can find something to cut the burn & bring out the honey

mystery homebrew mead: I do like a good mead, so seeing this in the mix intrigued me. this one is heavy on the honey taste, but there's something about it I can't quite place. something... spiced? in the same camp as cinnamon or nutmeg. we'll see if this knocks me on my ass later, only had half a bottle (they used beer bottles, not wine bottles; calm down) to be safe. 8/10, good shit!

right... now that I'm sufficiently buzzed, we can get back to what I mentioned earlier - as was stated, this is WAY too much booze for me to keep in the hangar. so - if any of y'all out there on the Omninet want me to hook you up with something from the stash, shoot me an ask and lemme know what you want. (not the vodkas, though - I'm keeping all of those. might put a limit on the whiskey and gin, too, since I know P and K like those)

explanation under the cut

I will preface this by saying that a few things act as complicating factors to this interpretation, not to discredit it, but in muddying the waters where things aren't super clear-cut. The biggest example is that throughout mockingjay Katniss is suffering from the long-term effects of having two severe concussions back-to-back, so her impulse control, ability to focus, etc. are affected negatively. So while I'll use some examples from mj, I'll have other examples to supplement them.

Here's a little infographic of audhd symptoms for reference. This is the best one I found in a cursory search, especially since most of them are like. Venn diagrams of adhd and autism which are less than helpful and not actually all that accurate to audhd:

So a lot of Katniss's actions are colored by impulsivity: holding out the berries, shooting an electrified arrow into the arena forcefield, killing Coin--none of which she does with the intention of affecting the status quo and even resenting the outcome of the choices. There are also impulsive actions like pushing Peeta into the vase because of a perceived sleight despite Peeta's confession only benefiting her, taking the earpiece out when Haymitch's direction doesn't seem sufficient. Generally, autism is characterized by a strict adherence to routine, which Katniss also obviously has, but she time and time again makes impulsive decisions with no regard for how they may change that routine in the long run. Even on a smaller scale, she does things like propose that she and Gale run away together, believing that she's thought it through because she's given the bare minimum consideration to his family, but in reality she hasn't considered how Gale might respond to inviting Peeta (nor does she even think of the possibility of Peeta wanting to bring his family). Even things like deciding to move into a compartment with Johanna are done without any forethought whatsoever.

Katniss routinely avoids anything that's troubling her rather than deal with it, so she's forced into a corner at the last minute and responds without thinking. We see this in situations like how she opts to just pretend as if Peeta doesn't exist as much as she can at the beginning of catching fire because their last interaction was unpleasant, when she pretends as if nothing worth talking about happened with Gale despite it fundamentally affecting their relationship forever, deciding just to not bother writing final goodbye letters to her loved ones, when she refuses to write a speech for District 11 only to blurt one out off the cuff, etc.

I also find that her frustration and emotional dysregulation is largely based on how others interact with her rather than being based primarily on external/inanimate factors that would contribute to overstimulation (although that isn't to say that she doesn't experience overstimulation at all). For example, we have her interactions with Haymitch wherein he acts like she's stupid or lesser, which is the instigating factor for her outburst in the first book where she starts throwing plates against the wall, we have her interactions with Finnick, Chaff, and Johanna that cause her to freeze Peeta out because she feels as if she's being made fun of and Peeta's in on the joke so to speak, we have her breaking pencils in District 13 when people act like she's stupid for not immediately considering Peeta to be a traitor and starts to become irate when she can't put the pencils back in the box.

Finally, with the disinterest/trouble paying attention, this requires a little more reading between the lines, especially when referring to disinterest in contrast to her own hobbies (not being interested in fashion, not making any attempt to try and develop another hobby besides hunting, etc.). She also doesn't seem to have the attention span to make any notes about the previous games, especially not in the comprehensive way that Peeta does, and her mind and attention wanders as Peeta does the illustrations for her father's edible plant book. In general, Katniss's narration skims over anything she doesn't deem important, but there are instances where information will be referenced as if it's been a prior topic of conversation that she admits she's forgotten. The biggest instance of this is in catching fire when Haymitch brings her and Peeta up into the dome of the district 11 justice building to reveal to Peeta that Katniss was threatened by Snow, and Peeta says that he's got friends and family that will be just as affected by their combined actions as Katniss's. I mention this particular scene because the only friend of Peeta's that's ever named in Delly, whom Katniss also knows and is implied to not be a current friend of Peeta's (no one in his family is named either). There's also the implication, because she doesn't relay them at all, that she doesn't pay much attention to the stories that Peeta shares with her during the course of the first games, in the same fashion she doesn't pay much attention to what her prep team talks about while working on her appearance.

Finally, after her first games and while stuck in district 13, Katniss seems to struggle a lot with being understimulated. At least a portion of the time (a handful of times during the course of catching fire), she seems to go into the woods just to end up coming home virtually empty-handed (or at least comparatively so) because she ends up just staring into the distance. She says she ends up spending a lot of time with Madge because they both have an excess of free time and have trouble finding anything to do. And when in district 13, she holes up in behind laundry machines and in supply closets for hours at a time, partially because there's a lack of anything worth her interest until she's able to get permission to go hunting.

Anyway once again there are complicating factors like I could also postulate on Katniss having ocd and bpd but uhhhh yeah sorry theres not direct textual evidence . let me know if you do in fact want page numbers and excerpts I was just trying to keep this from being too too long and I didn't want to give page numbers from the paperback books just for it to be impossible to find on an ebook or whatever. Hopefully this is cohesive enough to actually make an argument for the interpretation lol.

Oh also also I already referenced it but I do think Peeta has a decent control over when and how long her focuses for (doing illustrations for the plant book, taking notes on the previous games, etc), and he doesn't seem to struggle with impulsivity the same way Katniss does, generally having more of a grasp of the consequences of his words and actions before he says/does them. which is why I don't personally think he has adhd. shruggies.

spoilers for the latest dungeon meshi ep but oh my GODDD i love marcille my pobrecita.. i think ryoko kui wrote sexism's effects on marcille really well, i think it's neat how she's a silly little guy and other people kind of underestimate her and it seems she is often down on herself about her failures or, "burdening" others in a way that feels very authentic to how it feels to be a woman and have that extra pressure of perfection to dispell suspicions of your inferiority. it's just very much the feeling i gather from it which makes marcille so relatable. and then to put another layer on it when it came out that she did black magic, she's literally A Bad Ass she is LITERALLY a Badass which makes her doubt of herself even more starkly inappropriate, and in this new episode despite the Fact that she is A Bad Ass when everyone's being a BIG MEANIE to her she's like a sad puppy when people don't let her help with revivals and like idk if i missed something but she doesn't even push back against them saying they're going to turn her in in like, a threatening way, she is just... scared. which hurt me i just wanted everyone stop being so MEAN TO HERRR my POBRECITAAAA. a serious alternative to the other poll. I think some of these have a pretty low chance of happening, but I chose options that are at least possible (i.e. the hermits know them). don’t take this too seriously, i’m just curious on what the fandom thinks is the most likely option
