Like I said in an earlier post, I decided to revisit some of my personal favorite pieces to update them for fun. It's really kind of silly I admit, but seeing artwork that I still really like be brought closer to how I envision the characters now, it really scratches my brain in all the right spots.

So here are two that I've done so far. There's more drawings that I want to touch-up (including more from the second one's canvas), so let me know if you're like to see more comparisons like these :D

I don't have anything completed nor coherent for any specific valentine's posting, but. I can... unleash more "whatever the fuck undefined dynamic alucren and tyr have going on between them" for your dash. Woe!

Mostly because I just tripped over the idea of those two going out to an Alliance function together because. Okay, hold on, I should probably back up. Rewind noise. Normally, Alucren is a three-piece suit man. He's got a specific image he likes to present about himself. Usually. Sometimes.

That said. What I've also learned about him since his inception is that he'd fucking kill it in cocktail heels and a sparkly dress and he'd love this. He grew up with three sisters. There have been all-siblings shopping trips. [They help each other pick out good styles. And eyeliner tutorials. And what shades are all the Kaasi rage lately for lip gloss.]

The heels have absolutely zero relation to the fact that Tyr is four inches taller than him. I'm sure, your honor. Absolutely certain. [Tyr's ribbing him about it. He's ribbing him. They're bickering as they're walking in about it, frankly.]

So. What I'm saying is. What I'm bringing out of discord dms. Is that Tyr, suit set, blazer not buttoned, v-neck shirt. Alucren on his arm in a sparkly red dress and heels that could kill a man. But not him. Because he's a professional.

A professional in making out with his boss (Tyr) at the bar and making Tyr pay for their drinks.

Hot take and not to be a killjoy or the shipping police but people treating Viktor or Jinx's aroace headcanons as if they were canon is not the revolutionary take people think it is.

Headcanons are always all right but we have to acknowledge that they are somehow damaging when they apply to stereotypes. It might not be the case for everyone but most of the time people unconsciously assume that disability/mental illness=asexuality. These headcanons erase the freedom of attraction from people who are already seen as unable to have sexual/romantic experiences/desires, when it's completely untrue and harmful.

You can headcanon Viktor and Jinx as aroace, but I have seen people changing their minds once Viktor is no longer disabled (s2 with all of his other forms) and Jinx is no longer as mentally ill (alternate universe Powder). And it speaks wonders of how people see these characters.

"I never thought about Jinx being able to feel romantic/sexual attraction until s2!" To believe she's actually only capable of that when she's not "damaged" is incredibly disturbing. Especially since Jinx has always had a bit of a flirty personality too.

"I've always seen Viktor as asexual, I don't know why!" That's fine. You can headcanon him as ace. But I believe there is a reason behind it, most of the time, if for some inexplicable reason the "vibes" of the disabled character are making you think he's ace.

I say all of this being aroaspec myself, by the way. Headcanon all you want but going to people's posts commenting how "it's weird for you that they have romantic/sexual plots when they're clearly aroace" is not a win at all. It's a headcanon, after all, and it should be treated as such, and that's fine. But it also is damaging to spread stereotypes like these.

Of course the disabled character is asexual. Of course the mentally ill character is aromantic. It's not as revolutionary as you might think, tbh.

Fandom is not activism and it's all right to have any headcanons you want BUT some of them are filled with damaging stuff and perhaps we should look into ourselves more before treating these assumptions as something canon.

Is this my best comic ever?? Nope. Do I think I characterized either of these two particularly well in this comic?? Not really. Did I spend an unreasonable amount of time on it to the point that it would be a waste to not post it?? Yes, yes I did.

I really committed to this one, spent a lot of time on those backgrounds and treated myself to ample suffering with the perspective, which is not my strong suit but I am happy with how it ultimately looks. Yay perspective and background practice!!

(Tbh I shouldn't talk like I think this one sucks, I think I've just been staring at it for so long that my brain has decided it's not good and it's actually way better than I think it is, and honestly I am quite happy with it. The artistic process really is something, isn't it?)

The inspiration was basically me reminding... myself... to take breaks sometimes... by drawing for several hour stints during my only little bits of free time. Which totally tracks. Probably. But I've been rolling around in my brain this idea that Lambert is a very uptight people pleaser and anxious workaholic, but Narinder, at least since adjusting himself to the circumstances (which probably took at least a century, maybe two) has discovered the joys of self care, and has made an active effort to chill tf out. This has not made him any less terrifying to the cultists (save for Lambert's closest disciples), nor has it made him friendlier to really anyone but Lambert (and maybe his siblings), but he sure has found some serious peace of mind. That said, I can't place what his motivations are here. Perhaps he is secretly concerned about Lambert's sanity, because he doesn't want them to turn into what he was, or maybe he's just trying to steal away some quality time with his one and only friend, but regardless of the reason, I spent too much time on this for nobody to see it, dang it.

That said. Enjoy this silly little comic that I spent way too much time on, and I hope this silly comic brings you some joy today.
