Anime recs for The Radiant Emperor enjoyers
I was watching the new Ooku anime on Netflix some weeks ago and I thought it hit that ”court drama dealing with gender roles and making me cry” spot that He Who Drowned the World has been occupying in my heart lately (even if it engages with some of these themes very differently).
Somehow that got me thinking about other anime that might align with the vibes and themes in The Radiant Emperor book series and eventually came up with this list.
Some of those themes include gender roles, queerness, disability, politics, oppression, rebellion, revenge, impossible and messy relationships and tragedy. Darker themes like war, violence, sexual assault etc are also often present. Please lmk if you agree or disagree with these choices and feel free to add more!
Dororo (2019)
Historical fantasy based on Osamu Tezuka’s manga classic from the 1960s.
An orphan who hides her gender in order to survive meets a young man who fights demons to claim back his body parts that his father traded away in a demonic pact. There’s tons of pain and tough moral questions and complicated family relationships, and the way Hyakkimaru deals with having lost and then slowly regaining parts of himself is super interesting.
24 episodes. Stream on Prime Video, Hidive
The Heike Story (2022)
Retelling of the historical epic Heike monogatari through the eyes of an orphan girl who gains the ability to see supernatural things after her father’s passing. Inevitability of fate, the impermanence of all existence, praying for your loved ones’ happiness in the next life, all of these things are beautifully woven in this visually stunning story. The story also hits different when you know that Heike monogatari was traditionally performed by blind musicians and singers.
11 episodes. Stream on Cruncyroll, Apple TV
Inu-oh (2022)
Historical fantasy. Two outcasts find each other and change the history with their music in this story that also pays respect to the Heike monogatari’s origin as a singing tradition. Focus on things like identity, disability, nonconformity, ghosts. Yes, the ghosts part is important. Also, the gender expressions and the bond between the two main characters is something I’ve seen a lot of queer/trans ppl relate to and Inu-oh is voiced by none other than the trans icon Avu-chan.
Movie. Stream on Hulu
Ōoku: The Inner Chambers (2023)
Alternate history where most men in Japan have been wiped out by a mysterious disease. Very much a court drama centered in the Tokugawa shogun’s residence where men serve the woman shogun as concubines (and sometimes have relationships with each other). Also, one of the main characters is a monk who ends up giving up his vows! Based on Fumi Yoshinaga’s acclaimed manga that has also been adapted to various live action movies and drama series.
10 episodes. Stream on Netflix
Toward the Terra (2007)
Scifi classic with two main characters who are at the opposing sides but feel inexplicably connected. There’s just so many insane relationships and emotions here, I still have not recovered from the ”I want to kill you but I will also protect you with my own life” thing…… Based on the 1970s manga by Keiko Takemiya. Not to be confused with the movie from 1980.
24 episodes. Available on DVD
Devilman Crybaby (2018)
Apocalyptic fantasy with demons and stuff. Based on the classic 1970s manga by Go Nagai.
I don’t even know how to describe the story, it’s just the tragedy, the queer yearning, the ”I killed the one I loved and then it was too late”, the ”things will get bad and then they will get worse” vibe that I think is very fitting. This one has the most extreme violent and sexual content out of the series on this list.
10 episodes. Stream on Netflix
Banana Fish (2018)
Gang wars, mystery drugs and complicated emotions set in New York. Based on the iconic 1980s manga by Akemi Yoshida. Deals heavily with trauma and CSA.
You guessed right, this one is also a tragedy. If you love Ouyang and/or Baoxiang, you’re probably going to love Lee Yut-Lung. That’s all I’m going to say.
24 episodes. Stream on Amazon Prime

Part 3 I Questions?
Part 2 II Series masterlist II Part 4
Back in your class. the professor in front of you was talking about parasites. The last lecture for the day had passed with a series of slides filled with “fascinating” illustrations. With your back hurting, you subtly stretch your body; careful not to draw unnecessary attention. It was a long day, yet it was only two in the afternoon.
“Thank goodness I have time to relax,” your lazy self has emerged once again.
The click of your dorm door and the welcoming presence of your bed was the greatest feeling ever. Painfully switching your attention, you prepare for a quick shower. You took your phone to put on your bed, took some clothes to change into afterwards, then proceeded to head to your floor’s communal bathroom.
As the water was pouring down on you, thoughts invaded your head. It had been the other day that you were hired for a huge job. They still haven’t reached back out yet and you aren’t able to do anything regarding the job since you had no idea what to do. They… or Tsukishima rather, hadn’t contacted you despite saying he will—within a day or two. It had almost been 48 hours.
“Why am I such an over-thinker?”
You recover and assure yourself that it was all fine. It’s out of your control anyway. They can message you anytime. After all, you had given him your number.
Finished, you dry yourself up and change into your fresh clothes before heading out and back to your room.
You're greeted by the presence of your roommate sitting on your bed—the bottom bunk.
“Hey,” you called out to her.
“Hello,” she replied, eyes not meeting yours, still occupied with her phone.
Holding your used clothes, you proceeded to fold them and put them away to be washed along with your week-old towel. Now your self-relaxation can begin… but where was your phone?
Lazing around would not be complete without it, you needed to scroll through YouTube comments while watching a video.
“Wait just a minute-,” you face your roomie. “Isabella…”
Whilst sitting on your bed, she gave you a cheeky expression; caught scrolling through your phone. “Sorry. Couldn’t help it. It was just sitting there.”
“How did you even know the password?” A kind of annoyed amazement washed over you. You had nothing to hide anyway so there was no major problem.
“In case you forgot, I live up–” she gestured to the top bunk, “–there.”
“Dumb. Dumb as hell,” You had been careless. She could peek from above.
“Anyway… Who is this guy?” Her tone was teasing with a mischievous face to go along with it. It made you worried.
“What guy–” Oh no. It can’t be. Can it? You grabbed your phone from her and saw why the idiot was smirking. It was a message from Tsukishima.
The message was straight to the point and yet your blockhead roommate still kept giving you knowing looks. She didn’t even know the reason for the message. She was jumping leaps and bounds to conclusions. This, you felt, was not going to go away anytime soon.
“I was hired for another job”
“Yeah, yeah. Sure~” She got up from your bed and languidly went for her desk. “Just don’t mind me, I’ll be studying here...” She dramatically gestures to her small workspace. Facing her, you couldn’t help but feel embarrassed yet wanting to take that grin off her face.
On your bed, you go back to the message. “On Wednesday.” It is a few days from now.
Checking your schedule, you were free on that day and the morning after. The timing though. Well, it wasn’t as if you were complaining, in fact, it was very good news. One less problem for you.
You replied to Tsukishima then. The anxiety was eating you. A simple reply yet so many ways to screw up.
“WHAT. DID I SEND?! Did he really leave me on ‘read’? Anyway~” So that is done. Now to relax. No need for self-criticism.
On Wednesday, nine on the dot, you arrived in front of the museum.
Draped around your neck, you show your loaned ID to the guard and pass through on to the building. Inside, some big boxes and various pieces have been placed on the hallway’s floor.
That must be for the event... wow they are already starting this early on. It again dawned on you how big of an event it is; starting to make preparations this early on. The pressure was beginning to feel real.
“Hello.”
“Oh, that voice again” you turn around to greet him but you didn’t get the chance to.
“(L/N), this is Kazumi Keiko, my fellow intern,” he gestured to the lady beside him. Looking up at her, she seemed friendly, motherly almost; her long hair tied back and with freckles on her face. Although you take it, she was older than you and Tsukishima.
“Hello, nice to meet you Kazumi,” you reply although softly. She smiles a warm smile at you.
“So now we're just waiting for Kazumi’s partner, Ike--- never mind she’s here”
“Hey guyssss!” A female about your age was waving behind the glass doors. Kazumi was gesturing with her hand beckoning the girl to enter. “How come she gets to be partners with Kazumi and I’m with the boy Tsukishima? This will just be utter awkwardness from me I bet,” you try to see the reasoning why it couldn’t have been you partnered with Kazumi.
“Hey, I’m Ikeda, Satsuki,” she was very direct, it caught you off-guard.
“Hi. I’m (L/N), (F/N).”
Wow, nice name! It’s foreign, I like it. Do you want a Snickers?” Glancing down, she had in her hand a Snickers bar being handed out to you. “Uh, no, no, I’m fine. You--” you got caught off by Kazumi. “(L/N), you better just take that or we’ll be stuck here a long time.”
“Oh ok, sure. Thank you, Ikeda,” you take the Snickers bar from her hand giving her a tight but genuine smile. She returned the gesture. From what you observed, she has a pretty happy-go-lucky character and you realize why Ikeda might be partnered with Kazumi; it was to manage Ikeda, Satsuki.
Tsukishima continued, “So for today Mr. Yasuhiro instructed us all to divide the work and just find a plan around it...”
That meeting ended about 15 minutes ago. Now, you’re walking the streets of Sendai, side-by-side, with the tall man of partner for work. How did it come to this...?
The central matter you discussed was how the work was going to be divided. You and Tsukishima were to handle the main big projection for the event while Team Kazumi will handle multiple small displays around the museum. You didn’t get into too much detail but for now that was it. The details were to be discussed by the pair. Great... By the time your gathering finished it was past noon; late lunch.
“There’s still the rest of the day so I’m bringing Ikeda with me to lunch. We’ll be talking about ‘this’ after.” Kazumi was definitely wasting no time. “How about you guys?” She faced Tsukishima.
Oh no...
“Uh...” he glanced at you. Oh no. No, no. “You don’t have anything to do this afternoon right?”
I have no escape from this. “Yeah, my whole day is free”
“Well, I guess we could all get lunch.” He asked Kazumi now, “Where are you guys going?”
“A Western inspired cafe just a walking distance from here, it just opened so I wanna try it out”
Tsukishima took his coat and bag then went for the door. “Let’s go then.”
“Wait... I still have to buy some things along the way, I want Kazumi to come with me. Can you two go ahead and reserve seats for us?” Ikeda protested, as childish as ever.
Kei halted, “Uh, yeah sure. I don’t see how that’s a problem.”
Not a problem... right.
“(L/N), are you fine with this?” The ever-motherly Kazumi made sure to check up on you.
Without any excuse whatsoever, “Yes, I’m ok with anything guys.” Darn it. Social Interaction.
“Ehem...” After a rather long walk of silence. Tsukishima cleared his throat. “Are you fine there?”
“Hmm...” You glance up at him; not expecting any talk. “Oh yeah, I’m fine here. You?”
“Uh-huh. Same here”
Awkward...but still you continue to walk side-by-side.
“You know, I’m not really a talkative person,” Tsukishima started again, “but Mr. Yasuhiro told me to ‘make an effort’ because you ‘tend to be shy,’” oh, is that how this guy sees me too? Ouch.
“I get what he means but...” he side-glanced to see you, it made your eyes meet his for a small while, “…some people prefer not talking at all and some are uncomfortable doing so. In short... I’m asking you if you would be comfortable with me trying to talk to you...”
Ohhhh... man, this guy is considerate. What a nice person.
“Yes, yeah. I’m really fine with people talking to me first. I just don’t really like to initiate a conversation plus I don’t want to be a nuisance to them... and like you said, I ‘tend to be shy.’”
“So, are you fine if I ask you questions?”
“Yeah, sure. Of course.” You really felt delighted; a person actually respected that not all people are the same in terms of talkativeness. It’s not every day you meet someone like that.
Unbeknownst to you, it was Tsukishima’s goal in earnest to make you comfortable around him; to the best of his ability. You do have to work on a project together after all.
A few moments of walking and you both arrived in the café. True to her word, what Kazumi said by “western inspired” actually really means an absolutely western café.
Tsukishima, the unexpected gentleman, opened the door for you as you both entered. You give him a smile in thanks; he returned a small smile too.
Looking around, it seems like rush-hour has passed and the café is almost empty. That means you don’t have to worry about reserving seats for Kazumi and Ikeda, then.
“Would you prefer seats by, or away from the window?”
You imagined eating by the window as others pass by... “I think away from the window”
“Same here.” He then led you to a table for 4 by the wall. He breezily pulled a chair and motioned for you to sit on it as if it were no big deal.
Oh my. This is kind of flustering.
Tsukishima received a text from Kazumi saying that they’ll be late and to order and eat ahead of them; and so, you both did. A waitress handed you menus then left the both of you to choose your orders. He ordered smoked salmon while you went with lasagna. For dessert he asked you what you wanted but you’d told him you’ll have bobba instead; he got a strawberry shortcake.
“So, while waiting for our food, and Kuzumi, I do have to bring back the fact that we're going to be working together on this project and we barely know each other. So...” across from you, he gives you a “you get where I’m headed with this” look on his face.
You nodded. “Mhmm”
“Right, should we ask each other questions?”
“Yeah, I think that’s the easiest way.”
“Ok, I’ll go first. You’re in university, right? What are you studying?”
“Oh, I’m a veterinary student”
“Oh, wow. That’s very impressive.” You responded with a smile and small chuckle, “Oh, no... not really.”
It was your turn. “If I recall correctly, you are in the museum as an intern. What are you doing if you’re not there?”
“Well, aside from attending school, I also have volleyball to face but that’s all.”
Confused with his vague answer, “Volleyball?”
“Hm... uh,” for the first time ever since you met him, the usually stoic guy looked... bashful. “I play for V.League Division 2,” he looks unsure if you knew what it was and made an attempt to explain it. But when he saw your eyes wide with amazement, he stopped fidgeting with his hands. “I’m taking it that you know what that is...”
You didn’t really dabble too much in sports, volleyball was no exception. Sure, you watched an anime about volleyball; got addicted, and friends mention volleyball from time-to-time too, all that was enough to know what V.League meant. “Now that’s impressive.”
He grinned. “Heh. Well, I don’t really know about that…but now it’s my turn to ask. How did you get into animating?”
“Oh,” you let out a heartfelt laugh, caught unaware of the question.
Hearing it, Kei couldn't help but suppress his blissful smile.
“I always liked animating but it was a friend who forced me to actually do something about it,” remembering your laziness and your pestering friend was a goofy memory but a treasured one.
“Is this the same friend that left you in the museum?”
Joy came over you and you chuckled again, “how did you even remember that?”
“I mean, that was just a few days ago and who can forget someone who got left behind by a friend?”
“She isn’t bad, she just had to hurry out. I swear, she’s a reliable person most times.”
You haven’t noticed it but Tsukishima's goal was slowly realized as the air of awkwardness and tension gave out. You were too giddy to realize anything; you felt weirdly safe and became chattier.
In front of you, Tsukishima looked to be amused; a rare smile plastered on his face. “I had a somewhat same experience back in high school,” again, he sported a surprisingly charming smile on his face.
Curiosity overtook as you continued to prod, “what happened in high school?”
“Well, simply put, I wasn’t overly fond of volleyball then. A lot of people paved the way to make me love it. In a way, I relate."
“Wow, your friends were really good for doing that.”
“Hahaha.. yeah. I was kind of forced the first time around,” he muttered under his breath. “It’s your turn to question.”
“Oh, right.” Attention span of a goldfish. “What position do you play?”
“I... Am a middle blocker”
“Well, that’s fitting to say the least. Is it fun playing your position?"
“Yes. I find it fun especially seeing anguished faces across the net after a good block.” You cracked a smile at that, he didn’t seem to be the type to find fun in that manner.
“My turn to ask. Are you comfortable talking to me now?” Upon asking that, he faced you with genuine concern, you didn’t even realize you were talking to him casually and without uneasiness.
“Yeah, I think so.” You finish it with a smile.
He flashed a quick smirk in response. For he, after a lengthy while, has finally made progress with the person in front of him.

General gripes about DS9 and gender (some spoilers) (content notes: some references to sexual abuse/trauma, and specifically spiritual abuse/sexual misconduct in religious leaders, also death/murder):
I swear to fuck these people do not know how to write female characters without shoehorning them into romance plotlines. (Or weird fucked up stuff, like when that Cardassian serial murderer kidnaps Kira.) Especially noticeable with Ziyal -- when Kira takes her to DS9, the writers apparently can't think of a single thing to do with a young woman other than ship her with a much older Cardassian. Then, she's starting to get her own life and make a name for her as an artist, and they fucking refridgerator her. The fuck. (And: the focus is on how her death affects Dukat, that fucker. Which, obviously sure it's going to affect him...but it's also going to affect Kira, who sees Ziyal as like a younger version of herself and was trying to protect her. And then Ziyal dies. That should have some sort of effect on Kira! And did no one else on the station make any sort of connection with her when she was there?) This is arguably not primarily a gender thing, but it is partly a gender thing: the show keeps demanding Kira find sympathy for her oppressors, over and over again. (This is a gripe fest: of course there's a lot of things about Kira's character that are done really well.) She keeps getting thrown in situations that show (some) Cardassians in more nuanced lights and that more or less force her into relationships with them, while meanwhile her old resistance cell friends all get killed off, her parents are dead, if she has any other family we don't hear about it, and she's basically left with no Bajoran friends even, as far as we know. She gets Bajoran lovers who... OK, about that. First, Vedek Bareil. Now, Bajorans are shown to have a pretty relaxed attitude towards their clergy (eg Kira is frequently rude to Winn even after she becomes Kai with apparently no consequences) -- but still. Vedek is roughly equivalent to, what, cardinal? He's high up in the heirarchy. And, he's put himself in a role of spiritual authority relative to Kira: she gets access to one of the Orbs through him. They've got a power imbalance and one that's connected to Kira's ability to do her religion. I don't care what the social norms are on Bajor that is 100% sexual misconduct on Bareil's part. If something went wrong in their relationship, it could fuck up Kira's connection to her faith. And in the show it's presented as no big deal.
(Star Trek seems to be aware of this when it comes to ship's captains! For all that Kirk notoriously fucks everyone, he never voluntarily (/outside of the mirror universe, outside of odd transporter malfunctions that split him into two parts, etc) came on to a crew member. But it's no less important for religious authorities.) (Also: this has nothing to do with celebacy. I'm fine with Bajoran religious figures being allowed to have sex and being allowed to have sex outside of marriage. But: a religious leader having a sexual relationship with someone who they're in a pastoral relationship to is wrong, and while Bareil isn't exactly Kira's pastor I think there is some level of, he's providing spiritual guidance to her. That means she's off limits to him, or should be. In the same way that bosses shouldn't fuck their direct reports, college professors shouldn't fuck their students, therapists definitely shouldn't fuck their patients, etc. Regardless of how they handle their sex life outside of those restrictions. And regardless of whether there's love involved or not -- romantic love absolutely does not make it better.) And then there's Shakaar, the former leader of her resistance cell. That she joined as a teenager. It's...yeah, it's been many years, yeah she's not directly under him any more, and yeah goodness knows a band of resistance fighters is probably not going to have a clearly written up sexual harassment policy so it's not necessarily unrealistic...it's not as blatantly "oh god no" as Bareil, but it's got some...is anyone thinking of potential abuse of power issues here? Anyone?
There was one episode where Jake and Nog were double-dating and it goes badly due to Ferengi, uh, gender roles not meshing well with Federation egalatarianism. And, then the rest of the episode is all about how they're going to repair their friendship. And I was thinking: we didn't see either female character either before or after, and why is a sexism issue being shown from the lens of "how can I, a nice guy, stay friends with my male friend who has sexism issues" and not "how am I, a young woman, going to deal with this affront to my basic personhood" or "how am I, a young woman, going to repair my friendship now that I talked my friend into a double date so I could date the guy I liked but his friend turned out to be garbage?" Like...out of all the potential relationships there, why is Jake's friendship with a guy with sexism issues (who's made it clear he's not going to change, at least as far as dating goes) the one presented as being in most need of preservation? I know, it's because Jake and Nog are more central characters and their friendship has been significant in the show for seasons now. But...that just brings up more questions. Like why does this show have a significant bro friendship between two teenage boys, but there's no friendship between two women (or between a woman and a man for that matter) that's given as much weight? There's some bonding between Kira and Dax, but it doesn't have the same presence and significance as Jake and Nog or, say, Miles and Julian. (I'm having first name/last name inconsistencies here. Ah well.) Keiko has no on-camera friendships. Kira has no on-camera friendships that have Jake & Nog or Julian & Miles weight. Dax maybe does with her Klingon buddies from Curzon's lifetime. (Benjamin Sisko also doesn't.) Ziyal could have, but doesn't. Molly could have, but doesn't. Miles doesn't seem to have any (on-camera or otherwise acknowledged) parent friends (like...there's one couple mentioned who can babysit Molly at times? That's it? We never even see them?), which is weird because fuck knows parenthood can make it hard to have any friends who aren't parents. Odo's got his weird frenemy thing with Quark. Garak has his standing lunch with Julian (if you read that as platonic, which ... yeah, there's not a lot of arguments for seeing it as platonic beyond "they're both men.") I am, don't get me wrong, extremely for showing male friendships. Very much for it. It's just...I want friendships that aren't between two guys also. And I want them to be shown as significant and meaningful and worth overcoming obstacles for. Friendships between women, friendships between people of the same race or culture (or alien species, since we are talking Star Trek here), friendships between men and women that aren't just a precursor to romance. And...parenting that isn't just...I want to see Keiko have problems with parenting that she overcomes with help from other people. I want to explore the emotional ramifications of Kira being a surrogate mom to Kirayoshi or being a semi adopted mom to Ziyal and then having her die. I want Kira to talk about how her own upbringing in times of famine and war and occupation affects her sense of her ability to potentially be a parent. I want a female character to calmly talk about her decision to not become a mother and have that decision be treated with the utmost respect. I want the sort of struggles that male characters have with parenting on the show, like Worf's difficulty connecting with his son or Benjamin's conflict over watching his son grow up and get less interested in spending time with his dad, be shown for female characters as well. And the joys, like when Benjamin remembers holding Jake as an infant, like when they reunite after Jake gets caught in a war zone. Rather than parenting be this thing that mom characters apparently do on autopilot without any internal conflict or feeling out of their depth or particular moments of joy and amazement. There's so many plot lines and moments and bits and pieces that could be amazing moments that give
mother characters balance and nuance and characterization, but they only ever get shown for fathers. (And this is not just Star Trek either...look at all the kids movies that are about father/son or father/daughter bonding, and somehow the moms...just aren't there. It's so good when there are single father storylines, just...where are all the mom storylines that could be like that?) And why do teenage boys get focus and their own stories (especially with Jake in DS9, but also TNG has Wesley Crusher and Alexander, and TOS had one story centering on a teenage boy) but girls either aren't there at all or don't get to have stories that are about them? Ziyal's stories aren't about her, she doesn't get to form her own friendships and only barely gets to develop an interest of her own before her life is taken away from her. Molly doesn't get stories that are about her. (And yeah, Molly's a lot younger than Jake, but those are still choices: DS9 could have been set when Molly was a teenager, or the show could have introduced a different teenage girl as a significant character, or Jake could have been a girl rather than a boy, or Benjamin could have had two children...)
#incidentally I have no complaints about how winn is written as a female anatagonist#she's a shitty person and an excellent villain#I have pretty tangled thoughts and feelings on dax#she's had a few really great episodes and it seems like her characterization is starting to make more sense since her relationship with wor#moogie is odd but satisfying as an older woman who lives life on her own terms under a highly patriarchal culture#ds9#feminism#gender and media#women in media

Another Top 10 Female TV Characters (In no particular order)
I posted something like this before but I added some favorite characters and I had to get my feelings down in writing :) You can read my other post, but in summation, the characters I mentioned before were: El Hopper, Anne Shirley, Lorelai Gilmore, Annie Edison, Joyce Byers, Paris Geller, Lois Lane, Jess Day, Midge Maisel, and Millie Helper.
Joey Potter (Dawson’s Creek):
Joey is one of the best characters in Dawson’s Creek. In my opinion the show should have been called “Joey’s Creek” :) She was a far more interesting character than Dawson. I haven’t finished the show yet so I don’t have too much to say about her, but from what i’ve heard she finally achieves her dreams and ends the series in a happy place, which makes me happy. What I do know is that Joey is extremely driven, creative, and smart. She’s also a character who has been through so much and has made it to the other side to be a very strong and kind person.
Rory Gilmore (Gilmore Girls):
Alexis doesn’t get enough love for her portrayal of Rory. You gotta figure that this was Alexis’ first role ever and she was able to show a lot of emotion in this part, while also being extremely adept at the comedy as well. Rory had her ups and downs but i’ve always been a Rory defender. She’s not perfect, but I also would say that makes her a well rounded character. She’s smart, kind, and an amazing friend.
Robin Buckley (Stranger Things):
Robin was such an important and fun addition to Stranger Things. She immediately brought such a new and dynamic atmosphere to the show. She’s a genuis... I mean, she fucking cracked a professional Russian code in a day. She’s hilarious and Maya is a tremendous actress. How she can go into a really serious and emotional scene and then go straight into a hilarious scene where she’s high with Steve is just simply amazing.
Veronica Mars (Veronica Mars):
Veronica Mars is my favorite character in the original 3 seasons of Veronica Mars. She’s talented, badass, and snarky/really funny. Veronica is a character who could benefit from therapy, but she’s very stubborn and in the 4th season seems to be adverse to the idea of going to therapy. She has been through more than any high schooler should go through. Even before the events of the 1st season. Her parents divorce, she is raped at a high school party, her best friend is murdered, her father, who was the sheriff at the time, accused her boyfriend’s father of killing her friend/her boyfriend’s sister. Because of that event, her and her boyfriend broke up and she lost her group of friends. Hopefully you followed with that last one cause it’s pretty complicated lol. And that’s just the events before the 1st season. Despite that or possibly because of that, Veronica has become a very strong and tenacious girl with a strong love of justice. She is also a loyal friend.
Jeannie Nelson (I Dream Of Jeannie):
Jeannie is so sweet and loyal. She is my favorite character in I Dream Of Jeannie. There is truly never a dull moment with Jeannie around. She’s brings the crazy into any situation and I mean that in the best way possible. No, but seriously she is such a positive and sweet character until you cross her and then as a magical genie you will wish you had never been born ;) Also what fun Barbara must have had playing that character, not only because of all the crazy situations she got to play, but also Jeannie had the best wardrobe ever!
Laura Petrie (The Dick Van Dyke Show):
Laura was such a unique TV character for the time. In the early days of Television there were usually two types of women characters. You had the June Cleaver, stay at home, always dressed immaculately in a dress and apron, always there for some sage advice for her children type of character. And then you had the nagging wife/magnet for trouble like Lucy Ricardo. I don’t want to do too much of a disservice to Lucy cause she is a very beloved TV character and in some ways was very ahead of her time. Yet Laura was very different than those two types of characters. She was supremely real in every way. She wore pants a lot, she had breakdowns because at times being a stay at home mom was difficult and thankless, she talked like a real person would not like a June Cleaver or a Donna Stone. She was funny, talented. At one point, Sally was taking a leave of absence from Rob’s TV show that he was a head writer for and Laura asked to help out in any way. Rob agreed for her to be a typist for them, to at least fill some of the void of Sally’s absence. During that time, Laura actually comes up with some jokes and helps with the writing of the show as well. She was a dancer, she is proficient in self defense. She was truly an amazing character and so unique for an early 1960s TV show.
Olivia Dunham (Fringe):
Anna was an actress who took me completely by surprise. The first few episodes of Fringe, I didn’t feel like she was such an amazing actress, yet as the show went on, Anna really showed herself to be an Emmy worthy actor. She got to play so many different versions of this character as well. She played the original Olivia and then we meet Olivia from an alternate universe and there are some big ways and some subtle ways that those two versions of Olivia are different. There’s a character named William Bell and he is played by Leonard Nimoy. For a stretch of like three episodes, Olivia gets inhabited by William Bell. So it’s Anna Torv doing a hilarious and really well done impression of Leonard Nimoy/his character in Fringe, her mannerisms are so funny in those episodes!! Yes, this show probably sounds crazy.... it is but in the best possible way, everyone should go watch it :) I remember when I became endeared to her character. It was when I saw her interact with her niece, Ella. It showed such a soft and real side of her. She’s a protector, she’s badass, she’s an incredible mother, wife, sister, friend, and aunt.
Astrid Farnsworth (Fringe):
Astrid is such a fun character in Fringe. She’s very endearing and real and funny. I’m sad that during the run of the show, we didn’t get to see more of her, but all that we did get was so much fun. The lab scenes are some of my favorites. The dynamic of Astrid, Walter, and Peter is just the best! Also the alternate universe Astrid is the purest and sweetest angel and must be protected at all costs :)
Sookie St James (Gilmore Girls):
The character of Sookie was really important in my opinion she is a beautiful plus size woman where her size did not define her, she was not the butt of the joke. She is a well respected chef, a loving mother, friend, and wife. When people think of Melissa McCarthy, they don’t typically first think of this role, but in my opinion it’s the best role of her career. She’s very funny in this part, but it’s a different and more low key kind of comedy than some people are used to seeing her in. BTW Drunk Sookie is iconic!! LOL
Lane Kim (Gilmore Girls):
Another character in Gilmore Girls that is underappreciated. She an incredibly talented drummer and she largely taught herself to play the drums. I can’t remember if the music store owner ever taught her but I feel like didn’t. I think she just let her use the display drums until Lane could buy them. Lane is funny and cool and a supportive friend. All the actors in Gilmore Girls were great at the dramatic bits as well, and Keiko was no different, some of those scenes between Lane and Mrs Kim really broke my heart which is credit to Emily and Keiko’s acting ability.

Custom Toonami Block Week 70 Rundown
Code Geass: So Lelouch is gonna go join Nunally’s ‘let’s all hold hands and get along’ area but literally no one wants to go after Euphy murdered everyone last time. You’d think there’d be at least one dumbass like “Maybe it won’t be a massacre.” But yeah Zero’s like “Oh well I just happen to have a million people I can give to the zone if you exile me and let me go scott free” and everyone’s like “that’s a super shitty thing to do but okay” so then Zero tells Suzaku that culture is stored in the titty and all the one million people do their I am Spartacus thing and wear Zero’s costume which had to be a logistical nightmare, like Zero’s outfit already is pretty expensive with the fancy clothes and the helmet and shit and some of them are randomly customized even though that defeats the purpose like how do you do this on a terrorist budget in a few days without anyone in the government finding out. Like “we received an order for a million pounds of the thing used in Zero’s helmet on the black market” seems like it’d stand out. But yeah, the million Zeros get away, partially because of the “dogs playing basketball” rule that they’re all Zero because their culture of being Zero is stored in their titty which wouldn’t hold up in court but also because if they just kill a million people who’re just trying to leave that’d be bad for the government, not that they’re not used to genocide and being hated as Imperialists but Suzaku specifically doesn’t want that on his and Nunally’s hands while they’re trying to actually do shit for Japan for once. Feel like there’s probably a good cause for peaceful detainment and not letting them just walk out but it’s not like they’d find Lelouch or whoever the supposed second Zero was anyway even if they strip-searched everyone since he was never there and if it isn’t Lelouch the only thing that makes him Zero sight-wise is the mask.
Inuyasha: So yeah we get the conclusion of Shiori’s story for Inuyasha and I just can’t help thinking about how nice it is that she went on to help a lot of other half-demons in Yashahime because of an act of kindness that Inuyasha showed her right here, really good ripple effect shit. But yeah Shiori gets pissed that her grandpa killed her dad and Kekkaishi YEETs him and his followers out of the barrier so Inuyasha can backlash wave the lot of them. We still got fifteen minutes left though so even after Inuyasha says he’s not going to murder a little girl for a powerup that’ll get power crept in a few seasons, Shiori offers him the blood coral crystal to break to give him the powerup instead as thanks for not fucking murdering her. We can’t have the climax of the episode just be Inuyasha smacking a crystal ball though so Taigokumaru’s spirit yeets itself out of the crystal and fights with Inuyasha and attacks Shiori but her dad makes a barrier to bounce him off of so Inuyasha can kill him a second time and get the Red Tessaiga. There’s some navelgazing about how life as a half demon is rough but how Inuyasha thinks that hardship will be good for Shiori and he’s rooting for her in his own way and in Yashahime we see he’s right and all in all that’s pretty nice. Anyway next time we have the Panther Demon filler arc which is honestly probably one of my favorite filler arcs in Inuyasha so that’ll be fun.
Yu Yu Hakusho: Yusuke continues his fight with Suzaku and Suzaku splits himself into seven, which this doesn’t seem to be the Multi-Form or Shadow Clones deal where it divides his energy, each one seems as strong as the original so that’s just kind of broken. Keiko pulls a bait and switch on the zombies which neither Suzaku nor Yusuke see coming despite watching the whole thing on Spirit TV, guess Suzaku had the camera point at the door instead of on Keiko for some reason even though the point is to make Yusuke watch her die. Anyway Yusuke flashes back to Genkai telling him he’s a little bitch that always doubts himself and splits his energy across multiple plans instead of having the confidence to go for something with everything he has and make it work instead of holding back in case it doesn’t. This and remembering his mom crying over his death and all the relationships he’s formed makes him go Super Saiyan in what I can only describe as a Fully Body Shotgun which I don’t think ever comes up again. He knocks down all the Suzakus but it’s just time to start the real fight since Yusuke’s lifted his limiter again like he does in every fight.
Fate Zero: So the clusterfuck in the middle of Saber and Lancer’s battle continues to grow as Iskandar just fucking dares everyone to come at him and five of the seven servants actually do. Gilgamesh is all like “Ugh, why do I have to do this shit, breathing sucks, I’m a king, someone breathe for me.” And tries to murder everyone with spears and shit but turns out Berserker is Darth Vader this time around and uses the force to steal his stolen weapons until Rin’s dad is all like “Dude you’re showing the whole world our fucking moveset, get the fuck out of there. Which given that Gilgamesh is an archer which are supposed to be independent and he’s a fucking snobby asshole, even with a Command Seal I’m surprised that worked. Also Waver’s racist teacher is all “hah wow, I was supposed to have Rider and the token teenager character stole it from me” and Iskandar’s like “I like this kid that’s ride or die with me even though he cries all the time way more than someone who doesn’t even step onto the battlefield you stuck up prick” and then Lancer and Berserker double-team Saber (giggity) and Lancer’s not happy about it because he was fighting Saber first and doesn’t wanna just jump her with Darth Vader but more Command Seals are thrown around until Iskander runs over Darth Vader with his fucking Lightning Chariot and that’s kind of shitty because Racist Teacher man wasted a Command Seal to have Lancer attack Saber for like five seconds before making him retreat. Bug Dude is also kinda freaked out that Berserker just kinda went for Saber meaning she must be pretty pissed at Saber about something anyway so basically everyone runs away and nothing is really accomplished, we didn’t even really need Kiritsugu’s sniper shit or Assassins’s Ninja Bullshit for this everyone’s just had enough and goes home. Also Caster is a creepy yandere simp for Saber but really who isn’t in this series.
Konosuba: So Aqua’s ready to sit in a lake for a few hours to make some money but for the first time in her live her divine booty is not enough to solve this problem. She gets traumatized by getting attacked by demon alligators and Kazuma and co. are honestly uncharacteristically worried about her and ready to try and help her. Meanwhile generic isekai protagonist has a crush on Aqua despite already having his own harem of bland girls and wants to steal Aqua back but basically the whole group is so totally anti-White Knight they can see right through his shit and turn him down. Kazuma beats him up in the most Kazuma way possible and steals his magic sword, proving that not only is he not doing anything to defeat the devil king but he’s actively sabotaging those that are. Aqua fucking decks the guy and blackmails him so she’s rich now and Kazuma’s rich from selling his OP Isekai Cheat Sword. Also the Dullahan dude is back for revenge about bombing his castle and Kazuma’s like “Wait were we still doing that? Thought we stopped, oh well everyone in this world’s problems are our fault somehow so it sounds about right.”
Sailor Moon Crystal: So this time we get Makoto’s story who’s probably my favorite thus far because her job is punching shit and making sure Usagi doesn’t die from the hundreds of things ready to hit her on a daily basis. I have sort of found a redeeming trait for Usaig in that she’s willing to reach out to anyone and everyone, like she’s not what I would call traditionally ‘nice’ but she is friendly and that ability to pull disparate people together does kind of make more sense for why she’d be the leader rather than the other girls who have useful but more specific talents. But yeah continuing with the trend of things teen girls like trying to destroy the world, haunted bridal shop that also reveals Makoto’s tragic backstory of being a more believable version of Tall Girl. Makoto transforms and beats up the Bride lady with a combination of Zenbonzakura Kageyoshi and Azula’s lightning bending, no fair that she gets two powers but I guess she is the tough one so it make sense. Now we’ve basically got the whole crew except for the one that we already know is active but hasn’t joined the group yet so we’ll see how this goes.
Durarara!!: So Mikado’s in deep shit after stealing the girl away that half the town is looking for, all because he has it hammered into his head that whenever a girl asks for his help he has to give it. There’s a bit of discussion about the nature of the Dollars that I’m sure won’t be important later but both Izaya and Celty show up outside Mikado’s school and he’s kind of in an awkward position since there’s nowhere he can really go but home and lead them to the girl. So he decides to find out about them, or at least Celty, Izaya’s just kinda along for the ride. He gets Celty’s backstory and agrees to take her to the other girl only to get jumped by Yagiri thugs and pull out some Death Note animation internet shit that has even Izaya stunned, Mikado about to actually become the main character of this anime for a bit.

Do you think Ran could get jealous of a girl approaching Shinichi like in the past even if she now knows he's in love with her? We still get to see jealous Shinichi I believe because his jealousy comes mostly at the guys' attitudes and not Ran herself. but with Ran she does tend to get upset with HIM (because she thinks he's flirting or sth idk).
Yes because she has in the past as you well said AND I’VE GOT THE RECEIPTS!!!
Seriously though.
You pose an interesting idea, and I’m not sure I agree with you completely. I don’t think Ran gets upset with him necessarily, I think they both get jealous in the same way. Like, I see where you’re coming from, but I don’t think I agree 100%.
Cause, okay, I’m trying to think of moments when Shinichi was jealous and I can think of three different kinds of “jealous Shinichi”.
Araide is the first case that comes to mind and granted it’s been a while since I’ve reread it but more than being pissed about Araide’s attitude towards Ran, what Shinichi was really feeling other than jealousy was disappointment. I remember his face while he was looking at both of them and he was just so heartbroken because he really thought Ran had moved on. I don’t think you can classify that as Shinichi being frustrated at Ran’s attitude, but rather just him being disappointed and heartbroken in general. What’s the key point here? Ran maybe feeling the same way.
The second major and obvious case is Eisuke. Now, that was different because what before was a key point --Ran maybe feeling the same way-- does not exist here. There isn’t even a hint of Eisuke’s feelings being reciprocated. So in this case yes, you’re right, Shinichi is mostly irritated at his passes at Ran.
The third case that comes into play and is the most recent one as well is Okita. And weirdly that’s kind of the mixture of the two previous ones: first, Shinichi is irritated at this bland copy of him making passes at Ran, and then it turns into disappointment and frustration when he sees Sonoko’s photo because he thinks she might like him back (though she doesn’t. Shinichi is an idiot, we’ve covered this before).
I’ve talked about it before but in all these cases, Shinichi’s jealousy comes from his insecurity and the constant guilt he feels about the fact that he’s leaving Ran alone --despite being so close to her. It’s not that he doesn’t trust her feelings or even her, it’s just that he feels so useless and guilt-ridden and insecure that he can’t stand it.
Whereas the few times we’ve seen Ran get jealous, it’s mostly in her head, isn’t it? Mainly because Shinichi has the flirting ability of a Maple leaf, but also because we very rarely actually see Shinichi.
I can think of maybe three evident cases of Ran’s jealousy, and two of them are fabrications inside her head, kinda. The first and most obvious is Asami and her fake ass rumor about her being Shinichi’s first love ???? Asami get it together honestly. Ran isn’t mad at Shinichi necessarily, again she’s mostly heartbroken because her own insecurities lead her to believe that Asami actually is better than her. The second case is one that always makes me laugh and it happens during that Pottery Class Murder Case where Sonoko gets in her head and Ran suddenly imagines Shinichi in bed with another, OLDER woman???¿¿¿ Ran please AS IF do you even know Shinichi Kudo???? The man can’t even hold your hand let alone go to bed with an older woman MY GOD
There’s a minor instance in The Desperate Revival I seem to recall when Ran’s kinda jealous of Haibara --although that may be Movie 3 and I might be getting mixed up.
And again the most recent case of Ran being jealous is during the Kyoto Arc, when Shinichi is talking to Keiko. But I’m not even sure that counts as Ran being pissed at Shinichi’s attitude, just her being jealous.
Mainly all of this stems from the fact that I don’t think jealousy necessarily entails being mad or irritated at the person you are jealous of or who is causing your jealousy; I think it’s its own special feeling that entails different emotions and shit.
But to answer your first question: yes absolutely them officially being in a relationship will not make them any less jealous because they are both insecure children who are madly in love with each other and would despair without the other.
#detective conan#shinran#this was a very interesting thought process!!!#thanks for making me think about it!!!#dunno if it makes any sense but i tried to make it clear#conan#conan ask#shinran ask#Anonymous

I went exploring in MangaPlus and found some pretty neat stuff
Shueisha has released a free manga-reading site/app called MangaPlus. It simul-publishes chapters and generally gives people outside of Japan more access to manga. It’s designed to combat pirating and personally, I’m willing to wait for a day after the pirate sites for better scans with better translations from an official source.
One of the big advantages of MangaPlus is that it also gives the world access to super-new, internet-only SJ manga--the kind of stuff that doesn’t get translated officially until later in its run and sometimes never even gets popular outside of Japan at all. Some of it...frankly isn’t good enough to sell very well in print and may well get cancelled. But other things are worth sharing and trying to hype up with other English speakers! So, having roamed the app a bit, here are my recommendations so far:
Spy x Family
Spy x Family is exactly what it says on the tin—a masterful combination of the spy fiction genre with found family tropes—and yet so much more. Tatsuya Endo’s manga about a spy and a contract killer agreeing to get fake-married and co-parent a psychic child has a premise bursting with potential, and it delivers. It’s listed as an action/comedy, and so far it’s delivered on both counts, balancing a deliciously absurd premise with well-rendered fight scenes. The characters are extremely likable, the dialogue is hilarious, and the comedy is seasoned with a few excellent, well-rendered moments of drama. The art is pretty excellent too—there’s been one or two panels with minor issues, but the facial expressions and use of shading more than make up for them. Really, the problem with this manga is that it’s really hard to express how wonderful it is without spoiling nearly all the good bits. So just trust me, ok? This thing deserves years of serialization, a U.S. print release, and an anime, at the very least.
Heart Gear
This is the newest offering from Takaki Tsuyoshi (known for Black Torch, a very excellent but very cancelled shounen action series that was seriously popular in some circles). Heart Gear is post-apocalyptic sci-fi about a girl who lives surrounded by droids, some friendly and some literally out of control. Takaki’s art is always beautiful, even if the girls really don’t need to be sexualized like they are, but the plot is still taking shape. The characters are endearing, if perhaps not as developed as they could be. I will say that I look forward to seeing Ru get angry or frustrated at some point. Mostly, I’m still here because there’s been seriously interesting hints of worldbuilding regarding the nature of droid consciousness. Regardless, it’s worth checking out for the post-apocalyptic landscapes and intricate robots rendered in delicate, sketchy ink.
The Sign of Abyss
Drawn by Takamura Maya, this manga is set in an intricate fantasy world. The main character, a prince whose magic destroyed an entire city when he was a child, spends his days researching a way to restore the city, until he finds his life disrupted by a magic-user with rare abilities who broke into his house. The worldbuilding is fantastic, the series just keeps throwing ethical questions at you, and the magic system is splendidly inventive. The art is reminiscent of classic shoujo manga—the clean yet flowing lines (and the soft inking on color pages) really made me think of Takemiya Keiko, but the eyes and faces have a lot in common with other artists influenced by the Year 24 Group/Magnificent Forty-Niners who were working later on, even into the early 90s. It does unfortunately take some of its cues on attitudes toward gender from manga of those eras, defaulting to the shoujo trope of “princely” women rather than actually dealing with questions about gender identity. Still, it’s gorgeous, the plot is engaging, and the characters are extremely likable.
Two extra reasons to like this series: the main female character’s name is Meme (pronounced Meh-meh, but still), and the artist has an easy-to-find pixiv frull of bonus sketches.
Bonus: Dr. Stone
This is a bonus because it’s not available in full on MangaPlus—you’ve gotta buy the Shounen Jump app if you want to read something other than the first 3 chapters and the 3 most recent chapters. If you don’t want to or can’t, that’s fine, the anime’s coming out soon. If you’d like to board the hype train early, this is your invitation, because I’m 80% sure that after the first few episodes of the anime, Tumblr will be flooded in reaction gifs of the main character. Dr. Stone is another post-apocalyptic series, written by Inagaki Riichiro and drawn by Boichi (best known in the West for Sun-Ken Rock). What sets it apart is that it’s basically about one man’s quest to rebuild society from scratch by convincing everyone around him (and the reader) that science is basically a bunch of elaborate, stacked fetchquests interspersed with occasional skill-grinding. The fun part is that it works. To, like, a ridiculous degree. It’s like reading the comic version of MacGyver but Senkuu is much weirder and proud of that fact. At the same time, though, there’s a nice central conflict between him and a character who’s got very specific ideas about who should and shouldn’t get to survive the apocalypse. In the end, the fact that Senkuu’s eccentricity is founded on an honest love of discovery and a firm belief that science is meant to help people is what carries the narrative. The art is lovely, though frankly Boichi didn’t have to draw the women like that and he must know it. I will warn you that it takes a few chapters to find its footing, but if you can get through those chapters, you won’t regret reading it.
#mangaplus#manga recommendation#dr. stone#spy x family#heart gear#yoru no kagi#manga#please read these and join me in enjoying them!!

summer 2019 anime sum-up
lmao i realized i never did this and posted the fall season b4 this.... oops
kimetsu no yaiba: tbh started out kinda meh. and now it’s turned into one of the new big shounens. i was not expecting that. nearing the end got rly good and i was rly looking forward to more episodes! tanjiro gets cooler and cooler! animation is rly nice (thanks ufotable) and the way tanjiro’s water is animated. like. aesthetic asf. it’s so good. i love black-haired emo dude and zenitsu (my spirit animal) and ofc nezuko she is adorable im c r y. side note: the hashira? i think they’re called? some of the ugliest fkn characters i’ve seen in ages like flame boy? stone boy? i HATE them. and the gem dude too like man get a new tattoo artist on god.... he needs it.,,,,,,and inosuke is so pretty it’s unfair
dr stone: ok man dr stone rly went off. tbh. i’ve always been a whore for chemistry since reading the flavia de luce series (btw, i want more books of) and watching this just tickles my noodle brain in a good way... who needs prozac when i get a shitton of serotonin from watching senku dick around.... (btw what is going on with what’s his face and the girl. yuzuriha????? i can’t remember. i love senku don’t get me wrong but i need their perspective too... bc i hate lion dude... so much.... dick....) again i will repeat that i am a whore for chemistry so i get oFF on this. backgrounds are amazing/ animation so nice n clean (most o the time lmao). i thought i would hate the black n white haired trickster boi and ms yellow ponytail and suika but no! dr stone is such a good show that they are now great, loveable characters. also i am senku and chrome’s whore so jfc. man, i love the explanations of all the chemistry shabang, but some things i think would be better if explained! like senku doing physical labour at the beginning- ex. making all those pots and building that shit by hisself. i know he weak af. yes he smart but like. construction? difficult. pottery? even for me the artist . difficult. and that shed of his was filled to the brim. HOW. anyways, i love this so much i am crying constantly
just realized i didnt need to write about dr stone. oh well.
danmachi 2: wtf yo. haruhime is so pretty but not a fan of her personality! bell still cute af and still don’t rly like aiz! animation good as always, and my god i shit myself whenever the argonaut theme starts up bc that is ? one of the best pieces of non-sawano hiroyuki pieces i’ve ever heard? addicted to it. and the opening! love the dynamics, the brief ‘rain’ scenes like when mikoto slashes the raindrops and just her motion basically? as an animator that is what i aspire to accomplish because i just love that. tiny little scene.
arifureta: this would have been so much better had they dragged out mc’s op-ifying process! made him suffer more! i explained this briefly in my ‘first thoughts’ post for this season, but story-wise and pacing-wise his power-up could have been so much more deserved and gratifying. think shield hero- loser suffers, gets angry, slowly builds up power in an epic payoff! would have been so epic too. and also if they’d made his gained powers less.... crazy nerfed. again: HE SHOULD HAVE SUFFERED MORE AND THIS WOULD HAVE MADE A BETTER SHOW. harem thoughts: yue- meh. sucky char honestly. shea- my fav girl, she is a great character don’t judge- sexy and love her personality and love her character design and love how much fanservice she gets lol. panty flash ftw. dragon girl- discount darkness honestly , tho nice design. and mermaid girl- yuck, annoying, DO NOT like the ‘papa’ trope! (ahem sao.) it’s gross. also just fuck mc’s classmates honestly- paladin dude sucks ass, healer girl OOF that last episode ruined her, samurai girl is ok i guess. hate ai-sensei too like shut UPP annoying ass HOEEEEE (postscript: opening=very epic too)
kanata no astra: plot twist? check. trillion well-done plot twists? check. this was done very well. i am so happy. all those plot twists and turns would usually suck in any regular anime- but this was written with GODLIKE ability. thank you, lerche. legit, this was such an enjoyable ride, i eagerly awaited each new ep! typically i hate space-related stuff but like! survival stuff gets my goat.... like this was good- (tho maybe more technical-stuff in the survival theme would make it so cooler) what shocked me the most: (spoilers alert) didn’t end up hating quitterie or funi. (tho the puppet made me want to strangle smth) luca’s gender had rly confused me but i’d decided on him being a boy- so basically that reveal left me like WHOA. i died. did luca rly have to show emo boy their tity tho... kanata losing his arm gave me the yeeeks, charce being the traitor was made sO WELL into a surprise even tho i’d kinda already suspected him<- like that was just fucking amazing writing there. gj. and ares the princess! ok man! shocked! AND also the whole clone thing, just fucked me right up. up the ass. like there are probably more plot twist layers in this than a fkn ogre has.... anyway shrek aside, yun?’s character arc was very pleasing, i think that was done very well! and the ending made me UwU like BRO? goals tbh. yeah this is a hidden gem and is just so good, so well-written overall.
cop craft: didn’t have high expectations. i am now,,, quite,,, shocked &,,, blown away. sweetheart this is a good fucking show. so why @ livechart.me DOES IT HAVE 7.40 STARS WHEN FKN ARIFURETA HAS 7.72. can someone explain this to me? i’m outraged. LIVID. matoba and tilarna were amazing characters btw! loved their dynamic! briefly i thought it might get romantic! nope, it didn’t, so it’s all good. actions scenes were epic, tilarna’s design and outfits were so much nicer than i thought they’d be like. she is so cute. and the op- man, if that is not such a bopper vibe then idk what is. i could watch it forever. it deserves so much more than what it’s got rn.
naka no hito genome: (serious question: is this considered some sort of isekai?) genome gave me btooom vibes honestly but like- this is SO much better than btooom and most game/trap/ kinda shows. fkn BOP of an op, especially the sequence at the end with short clips of each character in action (nutt). paka-san was a good boy and he deserves irl merch. i fell in LOve with all the characters (bubble boy= hot, akatsuki= ok meh actually kinda boring, karin= hot and i want her to punch me, ruromori= beautiful 12/10 would let her stalk me, sleepy eyes boy= baby + dazai vibes and hot af, twin boy= also hot, onigasaki= hot and love him so much, and loli girl= her light grenades got annoying but nice char design) anyways yeah more of this would be epic. i wanna see sakura and her twin reunite, and how they get out basically! also animation quality was very good which is surprising considering it’s a silver link anime.
kono yo no hate de koi wo utau shoujo yu-no: i include the whole title bc this is a good anime. (also livechart.me why 7.27 stars i will fuck you up) only meh part of this is the return to earth from dela granto bc that was like a culture shock and honestly at that point i’d forgotten a lot about what had happened on earth and didn’t care as much. btw, f ayumi and f the other brown-haired oneesan. mio and kanna ftw. obvs i didn’t understand the sayless x takuya thing like dumbass horny teenager . why u gotta creampie the worst girl. u have mio. bruh. (tho mio x ‘oyabi!’ boy is a great ship) also, takuya’s mom? keiko-san? idk if you’ve noticed but that’s literally my name so yeah just glad to finally have some keiko representation. altogether goodass anime. the time travel/ rezero esque reset thing almost got me but this was done well. so no problems. both ops very good. first song was bae, second also bae (just realized it’s by konomi suzuki, one of my waifu idols, so yea nice) and ed2 also so pretty! also yu-no’s design was rly pretty, the outfit colours, and her pigtails rly suited her :)
granbelm: sorry this is the last one lol this was a long ass post! other than the fact i dont rly like mecha this was good.... action, CHARACTER designs aesthetic asf, honestly rly pretty ok. i liked the cast, very diverse and more depth than most shows of this ilk. op was nicely choreographed- especially the part where the girls’ faces are contorted by their gems, showing their magical girl side. nicely done. mangetsu didn’t end up being that bad a char, and honestly? suigetsu is best girl and deserved better. and the ending too- like, bro, that made me kinda sad. some off points: anna’s mom was a little unrealistic as a mom like woman- please learn to control your child, and, white-haired girl’s sister should have played a bigger part, based on how her parts in the opening were emphasized! (quick note- blue girl, love her, great bad guy, when she dumped anna made me so happy honestly, she is beautiful, and i couldn’t actually decide who i wanted to win between her and suigetsu....)
hope u enjoyed this bad review. pls share ur opinions w/ me on some of of these more controversial shows. thank.

Chapter 15 of ?
It was clear that they couldn't bring Motomu with them, or allow him to come into contact with anyone else, especially people unable to defend themselves. While Liang himself could undoubtedly take the kid (despite his size - he was clearly an athlete for some school team or another, and a whole head taller than Rock), there were likely plenty of other innocent kids here, people from Motomu and Keiko's own schools, who would not be able to fight off a much larger teen with a professional grade hunting knife. Where he got the knife in the first place was a question probing at the back of his mind as well. Did he bring that knife to whatever location the kids were at before they got trapped here? Did he find it here?
What did he do? How could he prevent Motomu from hurting other victims trapped here without putting him into a position where he'd most likely not survive? For the time being, the best he could do would be to subdue him, maybe find a guard to help deal with this. He certainly wasn't going to kill the kid. He may have been driven insane by this place, but perhaps there was still a way to help him.
"Get away from Big Brother!"
The shout took him by surprise. Keiko wasn't in front of him any more, and someone was taking position behind his back. Jolting into action, Liang turned, releasing his captive with one hand and holding it out to stop the knife Keiko had tried to plunge between his shoulder blades. The blade slashed across his palm as if it was nothing, and his hand closed around hers. Keiko's expression was wild, full of rage, fear and confusion. She didn't understand or couldn't accept what her brother had become, and, struggling with her conflicting emotions, she had picked up the hunting knife. She tried to press against his grip, drive the knife onwards, but he could feel her hesitation. She didn't really want to hurt him.
"Keiko. Stop."
"You're hurting big brother!"
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. He was going to hurt you."
"He wasn't! He wouldn't!"
Liang wasn't sure what he could say to her. He shook his head. "It's this place. It's done something to him, I'm sure of it. Can you feel it? The darkness? It's like tar. We'll find him help, he isn't beyond it." She clearly hadn't come to the conclusion that he'd hurt their friends, so why cause her more pain than necessary? It would run the risk of losing her as an ally, and losing the ability to help her out. It seemed to work, though. She relaxed her grip on the knife.
"We can help Big Brother?"
"I know people who can help. The guards from the prison I came from - yes, he's right, I'm currently serving time for a crime, but I won't hurt you, I promise. The guards will make sure no-one poses a risk to each other, and they'd know more about this sort of thing than me."
"Guards...will...will they arrest him?"
"If that's the safest thing to do, yes."
Sadly, she looked past him, to her brother, met his eyes, and gave a slight nod.
Motomu twisted, successfully pushing Liang off his back. He landed hard, jarring his arm, and the teenager reacted quickly. In moments, Motomu had taken the knife from his sister's hand, and it was his turn to try and plunge it into the inmate's back. This time, he was able to avoid injury, rolling and kicking out at Motomu's knee. Not stopping to see if his counter was successful, he scrambled to his feet and dashed for the door. He felt someone grab at his hair and hit their hand hard with his own, dislodging them quick. He stopped at the door, glancing back to Keiko. He couldn't leave her behind.
She was running after him, something clasped in her hands. whatever she was holding, she was gripping it tight enough that it was causing her hands to bleed. If he wasn't mistaken, it was a shard broken off one of the cracked mirrors. She must have found it on the floor. Her brother was getting to his feet behind her, a look of rage on his face, which was fair enough, he supposed. Looked like the kick to his knee had set him off balance after all. Reaching through the door, Liang grabbed hold of Keiko's wrists and hauled her through to the hallway. Motomu gave chase, and just before he reached the door, Liang slammed it shut. He heard a sound as the boy, unable to halt his momentum in time, slammed into the door and presumably tumbled to the ground. The inmate pressed himself against the door and kept his hand on the handle, trying his best to keep the door firmly shut. His stomach cramped painfully, and not for the first time since he'd been stuck here. He curled over slightly, but tried not to let his discomfort show too much. Unfortunately, he was quite sure he would wet himself in the next few minutes if he wasn't careful.
Keiko was crying again, sobbing quite hysterically this time. Hesitantly, he reached for her, but she slapped his hand away and shook her head. "I'm sorry!" She yelled at him. He supposed she was apologising for trying to stab him.
"Kei-"
"I'm so, so sorry! I didn't...I don't want to...I...I..."
"You're scared. I know. Just try and calm down."
"No!" She shook her head again, more frantically this time. "Big brother has always been nice to people! He's never hurt a person before!"
"But-"
"But nothing!"
"This place has affected him."
She froze, wiped her eyes. "He...he used to hurt cats. When I was little. He killed a cat. It's my first memory of big brother I still have...He never liked cats. Or dogs. Or birds. Or other animals. He didn't like them. But he never ever ever was that scary! Not like that! Not ever!" Her eyes flew to the mirror shard in her hands. "I hurt him...and I hurt you...and he hurt us...I can't trust him, can I?"
Liang paused, trying to think on how best to respond. "Keiko, we can help him. He's not even trying to open the door. I think, inside, in a part of him that hasn't been poisoned by the darkness around him, he really doesn't want to hurt anyone, just like you didn't."
It would have been convincing had Motomu not then tried to heave open the door. The kid was pretty strong, as Liang had first assumed, and the door jerked against his attempts to hold it shut. He needed to find a way to hold it shut without having to stay here.
"Keiko, go to one of the classrooms and get a chair or an art easel, and bring it back here. We can jam the door shut for a short amount of time. Can you do that for me?"
She shook her head slightly. She was shaking head to toe, eyes fixed on a point over Liang's shoulder.
"Okay...we can fix this, help him, get out of here. We can work together-"
"There's no way out!"
"No, there is! I'm sure of it. I've seen things here that others have said are impossible. I've found people who I was told I would never see again. I promise you, we can do this. We can find a way out. I promise I'll protect you and we'll get out of he-"
Liang cut off with a scream as pain erupted across his shoulder, and he couldn't fight the instinctive reaction to jerk forward, pull away from the door, where Motomu had managed to force it open just enough to get the knife through. The movement, the immediate attempt to get away from the pain while the knife was still in his attacker's hands and technically in another room, made it worse. Made the knife move. It would have pulled out of him completely if Motomu hadn't been ready to burst through and follow up with the initial attack. The extra force of the boy throwing himself at his back had him stumbling, but he managed to keep his footing this time. His injured hand, slick with blood, went back to grab his attacker's wrist, keep him from moving or removing the knife any more, but his hand was wet and slippery, and with some effort the school boy was able to pull away, and of course was able to pull the knife free too.
The obvious downside to having the knife pulled out was the bleeding, but the obvious upside was that he didn't have to worry as much about jostling the boy around too much. He could fight back without risking further injury to himself. However, with how deep that stab was for a lucky, wild jab, he probably needed to act quickly.
Motomu had decided to act quickly as well. He leaned his full weight forward on Liang, trying to push him down, while also wrapping an arm around his throat. It was an attempt at a headlock, trying to throw him off balance and keep him under control, while also keeping the knife positioned somewhere above his head so it still presented a danger.
It wasn't the strongest headlock he'd ever been caught in.
Liang pushed back, keeping his back as straight as he could as Motomu tried to force him over, and tried to raise his hands to trap his assailant's. His left moved no problem, and he wrapped his arm around the one leading to the knife, keeping it pinned in place as best he could. The right arm shifted only a little before the pain in his shoulder interrupted him. Damn it. That would be a problem if he needed to defend himself further. For now, he was able to keep the knife away from his skull. He hooked his foot behind Motomu's and twisted. Though he was smaller than his opponent, he knew how to move to stretch him out, loosen his grip and slip through. And as expected, it was easier to get out of than the headlock that man from Cell 3 tried to put him in, or any he'd been through in training. The boy's lack of experience in a proper life or death fight showed through. It didn't take Liang long to get behind him and kick his legs out from under him.
As soon as Motomu hit the floor, Liang had another choice to make - incapacitate him, or take Keiko and run, and this time, he chose the former. If he just ran, Motomu would chase after them again, and he would be able to ambush them. With the teenager already starting to pick himself up, Liang launched himself forward, planning to take care of this quickly. Motomu managed to get to his feet and turn to face him before Liang hit him. The first two attacks drove the teenager into the wall, but he was able to block and counter the third, sending the inmate back a step. Reacting to the expression on the inmate's face, Motomu scoffed.
"I'm the best in mixed martial arts at my school. I've won a lot of regional competitions as well. I've not yet met a fighter better than me."
"...I'm not intimidated by you." Honestly, Liang had absolutely no concerns regarding Motomu's fighting ability. He might be better than the average teenager, but he still had obvious inexperience. If anything, judging by the boy's stance and movements, either he was off his best due to his experiences in this haunted school, or he'd cheated a couple of times in his competitions.
The ensuing fight ended as expected, at least to Liang. Though Motomu had been able to get a few good hits in, he was now unconscious, and Liang had seen fit to confiscate the knife. It would probably terrify some poor innocent if he was seen holding it in his hand as he wandered around, so he decided to conceal it within his jumpsuit. No way was he leaving it lying around for someone else to find. It had done enough damage in the hands of those siblings. As well as the knife wounds Liang was sporting from what had just gone down, during that last scuffle Motomu had managed to get a pretty good hit in on his stomach and a good grip on one of his earrings. His earlobe was torn, not all the way through, but it was still none too pleasant. Pressing his hand to his injured shoulder, he leaned against the wall and let himself slide to the floor, getting his breath back as best he could. It was uncomfortable there on the floor, and not just because of the level of disrepair in the building. His jumpsuit may have been a bit wet at this point, which he would love to blame on sweat from exerting himself in the fight. It was, in some part, due to blood, but it was also in due in part to the fact that he'd gone into a fight while desperate for the bathroom.
It looked like the bleeding from his palm and shoulder had calmed down. He figured he could keep going without worrying about losing too much blood, at least. He glanced around, looking for Keiko, making sure she'd been out of range of the fight.
She wasn't there.
Of course. It had been too quiet. She must have run off somewhere when the fighting began. Well, he would need to scour the building once more at least to try and find a way out of there. Heaving a deep sigh, Liang got to his feet and walked toward the classrooms on that floor.
#It took me nearly three months to write this and I absolutely hate every word of this chapter#Also we continue the theme of Liang being Yuka#I wanted to finish up with Liang's part before the end of the evening but next chapter is more Liang anyway#I'm sorry#Victims With Numbers#Note to self: Never try and write a fight scene ever again#You don't like writing them#AAAAAGH

“ you can stay with me. ” - Kei & Manami, “ what did you want to show me? ” - Yuriko/Moe, “ hush, i’m trying to kiss you. ” - Hanako/Kaoru; If that’s alright ; w ;
Yes! Of course, mama!! Definitely alright! I hope you like it though!! Sorry if it took some time! Also I got King [ @nightcrownsking ] to contribute a bit because he wanted to!
Kei, Moe and Hanako belong to @polar-stars!!
Also Keiko belongs to @polar-star-dorks!!
Kei/Manami
One of those other days where she had to face someone who underestimated her passion, believing she only stayed because she had her two older brothers with her. People who bullied her normally pointed out her lack of ability which was false, but she was never able to handle all these words well. She ended up gripping her box tightly, her arms shaking and it caused her to grip the box too hard--- causing some cookies to fall as the group of people only mocked her louder. They pointed out that she was weak, that she was fragile, that she couldn't compare to her siblings--- and she believed they were right. She bit her lips, some tears streaming down her face as she couldn't find a way to escape when she was in the middle of a circle--- around her were some of her batchmates, who accused her of not staying by talent but by family bias.
"Awww Kuga, don't start crying now! If your eyes turn red and puffy, you'll only further realize that you're only existing in Totsuki because of your siblings!" One female insulted, flicking the bells on her hair and she backed away a bit as she did. "You see, this shows how dependent you are with them! You're so freaking pathetic that it's annoying! Speak up for yourself! Unless your voice belongs to your two brothers too." She stuck her tongue out at her and Manami only ended up staring at her own two feet, not knowing how to build up words to make the people around her leave. "Look at her! She's being the same old Kuga again! I wonder why she even is in the same year as-"
The door was banged open, angry steps coming in as the people who surrounded her jumped in shock. They turned their heads to spot an Eizan. "WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU ALL DOING?!" A yell came from him, clearly angered. They only blinked at his reaction, and he brisk walked to one of them before holding them by the collar. "Stop being such assholes to her! She did nothing wrong! Unless you want to fucking fight?" He growled and the small crows only began backing away. The last person they want to mess with is someone from the Eizan family, and it didn't help that this boy had rings on his fingers that can clearly break skin if he punched hard enough, and if he did it right. "Get the fuck out!" He threatened them again, but they only left because they'd rather not be an enemy of the Eizans, not because of fear.
"Kei-chi..." The girl finally spoke after those few minutes of hell. Her eyes still being teary, and she ended up hugging him tightly, her head resting on his shoulder. "I'm sorry, I probably disturbed you from what you were doing... I'm sorry for wasting your time..." She ended up crying things which she would have also cried about if it were her brothers... She always has felt a nuisance, especially when her bullies added up as she stayed in Totsuki longer. She didn't like this at all, but she never knew how to talk back when her mind processed that they were right. She wanted to think differently, but her mind made her believe that what they said were true.
She only got more quiet as the male ended up accepting her hug, even ruffling his hair. He felt pretty awkward at first because he still wasn't used to affection, but this was all thrown out the window so he could comfort her. "It's okay. You don't need to apologize either... Those bastards are supposed to be the ones fucking apologizing!" He argued and he only felt the girl hug him tighter. "None of this is your fault, they're just being bitches." Kei scowled as he just noticed how she actually dropped the box so she could hug him. He only began frowning, noticing her efforts went into waste... There were still cookies inside the box, right? He'd fucking eat it even if they were cracked by now.
A few minutes passed and this only ended up with her finally being at ease. She removed her head from his shoulder before giving a brief smile at him. "Thank you..." Instead of burying him with another set of apologies, she decided to thank him instead. He always did prefer hearing that instead of a sorry when she truly wasn't at fault... Which it never was. She didn't do anything to ever make him upset, and that was the truth. He only noticed how her smile grew wider, and she began picking up the box which fell. "Too bad most cookies are cracked already... I was supposed to give them to the Elite Ten members but... no one would enjoy how messy it looks now..."
Kei shrugged his shoulders before he began picking up the cookies that fell on the floor, looking at the cracked designs and saw how much was wasted because of those people. "Yeah, it might be cracked, but we can still eat the ones in the box together." He said this and her face began lighting up again. "You can stay with me." He continued, a blush appearing on his cheeks. "I don't really have anything better to do, and we can go to my house if that would help you be happier." He noticed how she jumped in happiness, a smile very evident om her face. He couldn't help but smile back slightly as she began cheering.
"I'm totally down for that, Kei-chi! I'd love that!" She exclaimed to him and he only nodded his head, knowing that it was his own idea. It was a success! She seemed to be happy again. She got the cookies that fell on the floor from him before throwing the broken pieces in the trash can, but since there were some that were still clean... They can totally eat that instead! "Thank you for staying with me and being my friend!" She went next to him again, revealing the cookies inside the little box she carried with her. "Let's eat this together as we walk!"
"Alright... When we arrive home, let's build the best fucking house in Minecraft."
"Yes! Let's do that!"
Yuriko/Moe
The duo was established ever since they met through the NGM. It truly was a great experience to be a part of it, and they even became close friends. Takashi and Keiko decided to go somewhere together after the meeting with Dai, who was the teacher that was with them with almost every discussion. As of now, Dai was looking at the test results of his students, before he smiled at the people who were left in the room. "Yuriko-chan, Moe-chan, you may go now!" He clasped his hands together. "We've already talked about our amazing sightings so the meeting is now over! Unless you two have something else to talk about, hm?"
Moe blinked at this topic, not really having anything in mind. After a few seconds, she shook her head, signalling she had nothing else in mind. While the other just leaned on her chair before crossing her legs. She was trying to think of any problems or ideas she had to tell her teacher... To be fair, the teacher who she was closest to would most likely be Dai so he was already used to her random rants or vents about almost anything. But for today... she didn't really have anything to say. She winked before giggling. "Don't really have any topics, Adachi-sensei~! But I will be sure to tell you if I have anything that comes in mind!" She declared and Dai only chuckled.
"Alright you two, if there really isn't anything else, you may leave now! I have to fix these papers up." He placed the papers down on his desk. "But be sure to update me if there is something that happens!" He was really a fun teacher, and the two believed that. They both stood up, but Yuriko proceeded to carry Moe up and Dai waved at them. "Have a nice day, you two! May the ships be in your favor!" Once the door closed, he began holding his pen again before chuckling to himself. "Hope my acting was good enough, I hope she enjoys the surprise." In a split second, slid a drawer open to bring out an album.
"Where are we going?" Moe asked Yuriko, her face still expressionless despite the curiosity she felt. Yuriko did carry her a lot, but she would tell her where they were going when she did. This was one of the few times she didn't even say a thing. Yuriko began humming happily before she placed one of her hands on her hips. Moe tilted her head to the side, still not grasping on what she wanted to tell her. To her surprise, she was only spun around by Yuriko as she continued lifting her up.
"I would have to show you something! So we're going to my house!" She finally answered her question and Moe nodded. She might have no idea why they were going there, bur at least she had an idea on where they were exactly going. "Hinata is there too, and he probably prepared some chocolate and waffles! Trust me, you'll love it!" She began boasting about her brother and Moe listened to what she said. Unlike Yuriko, Moe didn't really have a biological brother before the universes combined. But someone did act as if they were older brother! To her, that was enough. She always heard Yuriko talking about her brother, so hearing about it always made her interested. Likewise, Yuriko absolutely loved hearing about the sisters of Moe.
"Yuriko senpai." She started to converse with her, and Yuriko only faced her, wanting to know what she has to say. "You really do love your brother."
"Of course I do, and I love you as a little sibling too."
Moe felt happy in the inside, but no smile was seen on her face. Instead, her eyes shone bright and it expressed how happy she was when Yuriko said that. Yuriko has always been the big sister figure to the NGM, and probably even to some people in her universe. "Moe-moe loves you as an older sister." She had to tell her she felt the same and the female she told this to basically squealed at those words and began bragging about how great Moe was and how she truly was an example of cuteness. Once again, Moe just faced her with sparkles in her eyes, enjoying every moment of it. However, when they finally arrived in her house, Yuriko gently placed her down and Moe only began wondering why they were there again. "What did you want to show me?"
Hinata opened the door before staring at the two. "I said I wanted to die 13 times before you arrived, but everything is prepared."
"Thank you for being so kind~!"
"Prepared?"
Hinata made the door open further before he pointed at the living room. "Happy Moe Got A Good Grade Day...? I don't know, but my sister said it is a congratulations party."
She ended up seeing Takashi blowing balloons and Keiko popping the party poppers from inside the living room. Even Dai was there with a bunch of albums which he carried with both arms. Her eyes widened and she noticed that there was a gift given by Yuriko. "Here is what I was going to show you! A party! Oh and a bonus! The whole NGM and Adachi-sensei decided to buy you a couple of ballerina and panda keychains!" A wide grin was seen on everyone's faces besides Hinata who brisk walked to the kitchen to get the sweets ready, and Moe who was currently covering her lips with the box that was given to her. Was she smiling? Who knows? But she did love every single bit of it!
"We're proud of you, Moe!" Keiko released yet another party popper and Takashi breathed heavily as he finally finished blowing all the balloons.
"Yeah! Very proud!" In between of inhales and exhales, he got to say those words.
"Of course, I am too! As a teacher, seeing students' success always makes me happy. So I snapped a couple of pictures, and I got some people to help!"
Moe was still hiding her lips behind the box, but she only stared at each one of them before saying she wanted to say the moment she realized what was going on. "Thank you."
Hanako/Kaoru
Late night car rides wasn't new to them. It was a common thing for Kaoru to give her a ride home when she ends up attending any kind of seminar, or when she worked too late. It was kind of him to do so, she thought. No matter his schedule, he always made time for her and made sure that he was there for her. He didn't care about how long he waited because seeing her was always something that made the waiting worth it. At that moment, Hanako was on the front seat. She rested her head on the side, having a nap to at least gain back the energy that she lost after having a busy day. Usually, they would talk until she was brought back home, but this day was tiring than the rest.
He didn't mind at all. Her face was pretty even when she was asleep, but the cute factor was added if that was even possible. He just found her sleeping face adorable, and sometimes she would mumble things in her sleep. Despite driving, his eyes would shift to her direction at times so he could have a look at her face which he clearly loved. Cheesy, some people might think of his actions as such, but he didn't care about that. What he cared about is that he got to spend some time with her, asleep or not--- She was still there, and that was what mattered. She was still there, and that is what he cared about.
The spotlight turned red and he stepped on the break gradually so the sudden stop wouldn't wake her up. Usually this stop would take about a minute or two... That's what he remembers. He faced her for a moment, observing her. She did seem like she was a having a good sleep... But the thing is--- he couldn't control himself. He began leaning closer to her, so he could give her a kiss on the cheek. But now, he noticed that her eyes slowly opened. "Kaoru?" She mumbled his name, then realized where she exactly was. "Kaoru? Aren't you supposed to be focusing on the road?" She brought up and he only moved closer.
“Hush, I'm trying to kiss you." His voice was so soft that it sounded like a whisper. He lifted up her chin a bit and tilted his head a bit so he could give her a kiss on her lips. Instead of doing it immediately, he had a few seconds of eye contact, shared his grin to her before saying words he'll never get tired of. "I love you." She felt his lips on hers, and her heart still as fast when he kissed her the first time. It was always something that made her heart melt. Somehow so gentle, so loving and so gentle... She really did love all the kisses he gave to her. Without realizing it, she began kissing back.
Her eyes closed but she smiled as they kissed. It was those moments where she gets reminded why she had feelings for him. He was the sweetest person she knew, the most considerate and the person who waited long enough for her to achieve her dreams first. He was always so selfless. Some moments, they separated but it soon ended up with some kisses again. Sometimes they would laugh in between kisses, and at times- their noses ended up nuzzling to the other. No matter what happened, it seemed like their lips find their way to one another. "I love you too."
A blush was seen on Hanako, and suddenly Kaoru began to have the same reaction. He gave her a tiny peck on the forehead before separating, a sheepish kind of smile on his face. "It's late yet I feel so energized already." He laughed, thinking it was something that was dorky to say. "However, I wouldn't mind kissing you again, flower." He returned to his original position, as he stared at the spotlight again. "It's still red, but it will probably become green soon. I'll get to kiss you more once I bring you home." He lifted up his finger. "So you'll have to be ready to get buried by kisses. I really missed you and I had to store all my wants to go in the place just to kiss your pretty face."
Her blush only became darker, playing with some strands of her hair as she felt butterflies in her stomach and heat on her face. No matter how old they get, this was the same feeling she had towards him. Love. It wasn't hard to fall for him, and she was glad that she got to fall for someone like him. "You really are too sweet." She complimented him as he began driving, and she took note how he couldn't stop smiling as he did. Was it because of what she said? Or was it something else? She continued to stare, and she only laughed a few seconds later. "You're doing that extremely happy smile of yours. What caused it this time? Was it something I said?"
"Well, that could be considered as one of the reasons."
"Is it because of our kiss?"
"That is also considered as another reason."
"What is it then?"
"I'm happy that I got to be with you, my flower." This man... He really did specialize in making her fluster. Her face was now completely red, and he only held her hand before giving a quick kiss to it as he continued to focus on the road.
The late night city lights...
The stars that were white freckles in the skies...
The darkest part of the day was one of the loveliest parts...
But being with someone you love, made people realize where life starts...
A lover could only make the day more beautiful...
And she proved it.
She proved it.
She proved it.

Myu review 6: 1997 Sailor Stars Kaiteiban (Easter special!) . . First impression: Extremely curious as to how they decided to revise this! Since the first Stars was kinda messy, I was hoping the story would be changed up a bit. • • •
Impressions: Actors/Actresses
Anza Ooyama (Usagi Tsukino/Sailor Moon/Neo Queen Serenity)- My gosh, I LOVED ANZA SO MUCH IN THIS MYU. She pulled off such an amazing Usagi AND Sailor Moon!! She also improved so much from last time; making her Usagi/Moon less dramatic. The way Anza portrays Usagi can vary for people but I honestly think she was soooo into character for this Myu. She really showed off Usagi/Moon’s tragic/serious side extremely well and just as good as her silly side. She was perfect for all aspects (singing, dancing, acting) and I can’t wait to see her performance in Eien!! 💕
Ayako Morino (Ami Mizuno/Sailor Mercury)- I think I liked Ayako here better than the original Stars! Unlike the before, she got to play Mercury (or had more to do as her) more than she played Ami and I still love her Mercury! I still don’t like the “boy crazy” aspect of Ami but, what can you do. I do think she sounded great in most of her songs but her voice was just a bit off in Sorezore no Elegy. She still dances pretty well and overall I think she did great!
Misako Kotani (Rei Hino/Sailor Mars)- I’m really loving Misako now!! She seems to have improved a lot even on the little things which makes her Rei more lovable! Her Rei and Mars resemble her anime counterpart and I noticed that during the trial scene. I loved her chemistry Hiroko and with her other cast mates as well! Misako was great!! ❤️
Emika Satou (Makoto Kino/Sailor Jupiter)- Again, Emika played a very minor role but I still found her to be really enjoyable!! Though there’s not much to see, her Makoto was really good! Her Jupiter was barely present so I won’t talk about that. She has a very nice Mako sounding voice and she’s great at singing as well! She’s a good dancer and a great actress and I enjoyed her performances for both the Stars Myus!! I wish she stayed longer 💔.
Kanatsu Nakaya (Minako Aino/Sailor Venus)- Just like Emika, Kanatsu played a minor role but that didn’t stop me from enjoying her performance! Her Minako felt more like Minako in the sense that she has more energy & quirkiness in her which is a big improvement from last time! And there’s not much from her Venus as well but, overall she was really good in all aspects! 💛
Yuuta Mochizuki (Mamoru Chiba/Tuxedo Mask)- Yuuta barely had a role as his actual character but his overall performance was great! I loved his duet/interactions with Anza be it as Moon/Usagi and Tuxedo Mask/Mamoru or Kin-san and the “Rat Boy”. His role in the Edo period scene was so good and so funny as well!! I’m so glad they gave him more to do for this Myu because he’s so fun to watch!!
Sanae Kimura (Haruka Tenoh/Sailor Uranus)- Sanae definitely improved a lot since her past performance! She had more emotion (especially during Neptune’s death) and she seemed really into her role!! I can agree that her Haruka isn’t much but I think her Uranus is passable! So far, this is where I think Sanae was at her best for this role but I’m looking forward to her next performances!!
Hiroko Tahara (Michiru Kaioh/Sailor Neptune)- I love Hiroko oh my gosh. I love how strong and mature her Neptune is. She barely got to play Michiru but, her Michiru was so poised and even funny at times. She really reminds me of anime Michiru/Neptune (but more on Nep). I love her voice and the way that she dances and I love how she knows when to be reserved and when to be dead serious. I don’t really care much for Neptune but Hiroko makes me like her a lot!
Rei Saitou (Setsuna Meioh/Sailor Pluto)- I looove Rei!! I love how funny and motherly her Setsuna is and I love the seriousness of her Pluto. I especially loved the way she acted during the Edo period scene! Rei really knows how to make Setsuna and Pluto seem like two separate beings and how she expresses her emotions which are what I love about her acting ability! Singing and dancing, they’re all still amazing!! Super love Rei!!
Keiko Takeda (Hotaru Tomoe/Sailor Saturn)- I loved Keiko but I feel like she had less of a role here (probably due to the revised story line). Her Hotaru seemed better here though! I loved her little bonding moments with Mao and it really seemed like she was a kid unlike last time. Her Saturn was also really good! It reminded me of manga Saturn at the ending of the Dream Arc. She still has a nice voice and her movement/dancing has gotten better! Overall, she performed really well!
Mao Kawasaki (Chibiusa/Sailor Chibi Moon)- I kinda liked Mao in this Myu!! She’s very different from Tamaki which makes their Chibiusas unique. I do think that Mao has a kiddie feel to her Chibiusa while Tamaki has more maturity but regardless, Mao pulled off her character well!! She still sings and dances nicely and although she can seem “out of it” in her acting at times, I still liked her Chibiusa nonetheless!
Sayuri Katayama (Seiya Kou/Sailor Star Fighter)- I’m so in love with Sayuri’s Seiya and Sayuri as Seiya. She really gives life to Seiya and she embodies her so well, it’s like she actually is Seiya. Her presence looks so warm and friendly and that’s what I liked most about her in her performance. Her Star Fighter was really good as well!! Singing, dancing, it’s all perfect. Much love for Sayuri!! 💙
Hikari Ono (Taiki Kou/Sailor Star Maker)- (I’m gonna try my best to not make this sound super biased) Taiki isn’t that much of an interesting character in general but Hikari gives her that aspect. She gives Taiki the qualities she lacks (or basically, she brings the character to life) which I really liked! Not much to her Star Maker but she was definitely more serious. Her singing and dancing’s still great and I’m really loving Hikari in this role! 💜
Momoko Okuyama (Yaten Kou/Sailor Star Healer)- I love Momoko’s Yaten so much :(( . She makes her so fun/quirky and a bit of an airhead which is different from how Yaten’s usually portrayed! Her Star Healer was the more serious one and she pulled her off well! She still sings and dances well (and is cute while doing so)!! Looove Momoko!! 💚
Saori Sara (Sailor Galaxia)- I think Saori pulled off Galaxia really well here! Her Galaxia had more power and more emotion than last time. She has a powerful singing voice and I love the way she moves/dances. She had such a big improvement from last time and I really loved her performance! 💛
Shadow Galatica (as a whole)- I think Shadow Galactica was better here!! They were kinda all over the place before but here, they seem fully fleshed out. In place of Shadow Bee, Bug and Mantis were Sailor Theta, Chi and Phi and they were really good dancers! The Animamates were really good as well although, I prefer Rei over Junko for Pewter Fox. Ryuji was great as always and…we don’t speak about Sailor Buttress… . . . The story:
Act 1: This part was almost the same as the original. There were a few changes to the events like how the characters spoke to each other, how they felt during some scenes and much more minor things. One noticeable change (in terms of songs) was in Sailor Busters wherein Makoto and Minako’s “solos” were removed. This act ended the same way as before which is with the Sailor War Supreme number (which I still love)!
Act 2: There were quite a lot of changes in this act! During the music festival, MC Fly has his monologue and it goes straight into Knockin’ Down Hesitation; completely removing Usagi’s nervous “breakdown” and Chibiusa and Hotaru’s audience participation. Mamoru also makes his early and very subtle appearance after It’s Chou Very Bad. The Edo Period scene has completely changed but I’ll leave that up to you to watch ;) ! And the very surprising addition to the labyrinth scene was Princess Kakyuu (although she didn’t say anything)!!
The rest of the scenes were played out the same way as Nehelenia’s trials from the Stars anime! Neptune, Jupiter and Venus are the only ones who pass meaning Uranus was spared and was a part of Sorezore no Elegy! Everything else is the same throughout until the battle scene with all 10 soldiers and the Starlights together, they sing Solar Miracle Make Up instead of La Moon. Galaxia actually dies in this version but, Sailor Moon gives her a second chance at life and Galaxia is reborn elsewhere. And finally, L'Amour D'Amour Moonlight was the closing song instead of Usagi Circus Show Time. • • • Overall opinion: I’m really happy with how they revised Stars! I don’t know if it’s because I’ve seen the original Stars Myu but this version was much easier to follow!! So far, this is my most favorite Myu of the First Stage but, let’s see if Eien Densetsu and it’s Kaiteiban will change that ;) . . . AAAAAA I’M SO SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG!! Also sorry this review is really long in general, it’s been a while since my last one. Anyways, this wasn’t meant to be an Easter special but life gets complicated sometimes. As I mentioned before, I watch Myu on my phone now and it’s really difficult!! So I’m really trying my best with these. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this review and feel free to share your thoughts!

Who Said Death Was Easy? [Death Note] Chapter Forty-Three
Chapter Forty-Three: Guidance
Rem’s POV:
“Heh,” Higuchi muttered, staring at the list of criminals in front of him, “even though the meeting’s over, I still have to punish criminals. It sure is tough being Kira...”
You do not deserve to be Kira...you’re just a vile, pathetic excuse for a human being...
Rem watched as the man sitting in front of her paused a moment, chucking to himself, “but things sure have become more interesting. There’s no doubt that Misa Amane is the Second Kira, and that L must have caught her at some point. The only way she could have gotten out of that situation is by forfeiting ownership of the death note and losing all memories of what she did with it. I can’t leave things as they are….I’m going to make Misa Amane my wife!”
H-huh, what?!
“Money, power, and a beautiful wife...that’s enough to make anyone jealous. Once we’re married, I can just invest a large portion into her life insurance…” Higuchi stood up from his desk, moving towards the door.
You fool, Misa Amane would never marry someone as disgusting as you!
“Rem,” Higuchi called out to the shinigami, “hide the notebook in the usual place, will ya?”
As soon as Higuchi left, Rem tore a small piece out of the death note, right now, this is the only thing I can do for Misa’s sake…

Light’s POV:
It’s just as I thought! Light carefully rifled through the lists of recent criminals that had been killed. He had only had a sneaking suspicion before, but not he could say it with absolute certainty.
The Kira before I was detained and the one that surfaced afterwards…they have to be two different people! This Kira is killing criminals as soon as they’ve had their crimes made public, regardless of the type of situation. He’s punishing people that the original Kira would have never killed. The original Kira would have never punished those who didn’t have any intention to kill, those who killed by accident and sincerely regretted their crimes, or people with extreme circumstances…
A chill ran down his spine as he realized something. Something that rather terrified him. For so long, he had denied the accusations against him. However, with the evidence that had stacked up against him, he had started to wonder himself if he could have possibly been the mass murderer. Even he had to admit, it would almost make sense.
These distinctions that the previous Kira made when killing criminals...it’s disturbingly close to my own thoughts. Light leaned back in his chair, closing his eyes a moment, oh what am I thinking?! I’m not Kira. Something must be wrong with me if I’m seriously comparing myself to him. There’s no way I could have killed all of those people and forgotten about it. That’s impossible, even I’m not capable of doing that. Besides, if that were Kira, that would mean I was only using Keiko...I love her, there’s no way I would ever do that to her, right?
Light opened his eyes, looking over at his ex-girlfriend, studying her as she mindlessly chatted with Matsuda. The two were on lunch, taking a short break from the investigation. He knew he should have been taking a break as well, but found, no matter what, all his thoughts trailed back to the investigation. Back to the possibility of him being the original Kira.
If I were Kira...would I really have used her for my own personal gain? Just the thought of that alone makes me sick...but if I were Kira...then perhaps I’d be thinking differently...no no no! Light, you can’t think like that! You didn’t use her because you’re not Kira.
The sound of Keiko’s voice calling his name broke him away from his thoughts. He met her eyes, trying to get himself to focus.
H-huh? What was she saying?
“Are you alright, Light-kun?” his ex-girlfriend repeated, a concerned look on her face, “you were pretty spaced out.”
“Y-yeah,” Light managed to get out, attempting a smile. The last thing he wanted to do was worry Keiko. He had caused her enough trouble in the past, and he didn’t want to add on to that trouble now, “don’t worry about me.”
/meanwhile/
Misa’s POV:
Misa let out a sigh as soon as she entered the bathroom on Yotsuba’s second floor, glad to have a momentary break from questioning.
Ugh, this is getting to be exhausting...but I think this meeting’s been going well so far. I just have to keep it up.
The blonde was about to reach for her purse when she felt a slight breeze in the air, and she could have sworn something touched her. Seconds later, she felt a pair of winnowy, white hands covering her mouth, covering up her attempt to scream. In the mirror, Misa could see a white monster-looking thing with what looked like white medical tape over one eye.
W-what is this?! Some sort of monster?!
“Misa, please listen to me, you’re in a dangerous situation right now. The people from Yotsuba can easily have you killed. I’ve come here to worn you. Please, calm down and keep listening to me.”
This monstrous looking creature is telling me to calm down?! This thing looks like it’ll kill me!
“Please trust me. I have no intention of doing any harm to you. In fact, I’m your ally. My name is Rem and I’m a shinigami.”
Misa’s eyes widened in shock, what?! A shinigami?! So they really exist? Can I really trust this Rem?
The sound of Rem’s voice once more broke Misa away from her thoughts, “we once worked together, Misa. And Light Yagami is Kira...tell me, what is Light doing at the moment?”
The shinigami cautiously removed her hands away from Misa’s mouth, finally letting the girl have a chance to speak.
Misa turned around so that she could properly face the shinigami, feeling both shock and confusion, “w-what? I don’t know what you’re talking about. You know me? And Light-kun is Kira?”
Rem nodded, “yes. The death note...it grants a person the power to kill. If you write a person’s name in it, that person dies. Light Yagami took it upon himself to punish criminals. He soon became known to the world as Kira...and you also possessed that same power. In fact, your ability was even greater than Kira’s. You managed to find Light Yagami by using your power to determine that he was Kira.”
“Light is...Kira?” Misa repeated. “And I am the second Kira?”
“That’s right...or more correctly, you were Kira and the Second Kira. Light arranged it so you would both lose this power. This was all according to his plan.”
What? Light really did that? So L was right all along about Light and I…
“Misa, do you still love Light enough to die for him?”
“Unbelievable…” Misa muttered, you’ve got to be telling the truth...it’s like you know everything about me..and yes, I do love him to death. Wow, it’s so amazing that we were both Kira! Of course I’d want to believe something like that! I only wish I could remember it.”
“You haven’t changed at all, Misa,” the shinigami responded. “Now that I know you’ll trust me, let me warn you: the current Kira is a crooked and pathetic human being. I don’t know what he’s capable of, but be careful. And in the meantime, act normal and don’t deviate from Light’s plan…when you go back to the interview, you will be able to see for yourself who Kira is. Be on your guard and do not trust him…”
/timeskip/
Keiko’s POV:
“Hey they’re here!” Matsuda called out, getting everyone’s attention.
At this, Keiko looked up, seeing Mogi walking in with a rather excited Misa trailing in not too far behind him. As soon as Misa entered the room, she made a beeline to where Light was sitting with L on the couch.
“I’m so glad to be back,” Misa started as she sat down next to Light, “it was so exhausting, but I have some good news!”
“Yotsuba agreed to hire Amane-san as their new spokesperson in an upcoming ad campaign,” Mogi filled in.
Big shock there, she was practically a shoo-in.
“I see,” L responded. Keiko followed his gaze over to the blonde.
“And I made sure to give them my phone number!” Misa reached into her pockets for her cell phone. She flipped open the device, “man, would you believe three out of the seven executive already texted me asking for a private date?”
“What, really?!” Matsuda exclaimed, “that’s amazing.”
“So now I accept their invitations and investigate them, right? Oh, this is great. it’s going exactly as planned!”
“No,” Light was firm in his response. “The plan is cancelled.”
Misa frowned, “huh? But why? Everything’s been going to smoothly.”
“You’ll be in danger if we do this,” Light explained. “You can still appear in their commercials, but from now on, you should deny that you were suspected of being the Second Kira and that you were detained by L. Mogi will continue to be your bodyguard, but you will just be an entertainer…”
“If that’s what you want, Light-kun, then that’s what I’ll do,” Misa gave him a smile, “Anyway, I’m feeling pretty tired. Tomorrow’s shoot is really early. So I’ll be going to bed. Goodnight, everyone.”
With that, Misa gave Light a peck on the cheek. Keiko narrowed her eyes at her back as she walked up the stairs towards their shared floor. For some reason, Keiko was feeling a little uneasy about Misa’s response, a few nights ago, she begged Light to let her do this...and now she’s just listening to him without putting up a fight? I don’t like how she’s acting...something definitely smells fishy…I have a bad feeling about this.
/timeskip/
“The shoot’s been over for a little while now,” Matsuda murmured the following day. He checked his watch. “Why aren’t they back yet?”
Still not back yet, huh? Keiko checked the time herself, I suppose it is rather late...
A few seconds later, one of the burner cell phones started going off.
“It’s Mogi-san,” the detective announced picking up the phone, “hello? ...yes...try to remain calm. For now all you can do is return to headquarters. If anything else happens, we’ll come up with something. Let’s just wait for the time being. Alright, see you soon.”
As soon as L hung up the phone, Light’s father crossed his arms expectantly, “what’s going on, Ryuzaki-san?”
Keiko watched as the raven haired detective turned around in his chair to face everyone, “it appears Amane-san ditched Mogi-san for a date...I can only assume it’s with one of the Yotsuba Group members…”
What?! Keiko’s eyes slightly widened. Once again, there was a bad feeling in her stomach. She sighed, running a hand through her hair, I knew something wasn’t quite right with the way she was acting last night...there’s a high chance that one of the Yotsuba executives is currently Kira, and there is a lot of evidence point to Misa Amane as previously being the Second Kira...however, she had lost her powers and memories of being Kira. If L was right with his deductions, and Misa really was the Second Kira at one point...if she’s coming in contact with the current Kira...it’s possible that she could get her previous power and her memories back, right? Could that have been why she was acting so suspicious last night? Could she have possibly gotten her memories of being Kira back? Of course, I could just be overthinking things but...if that’s the case, then why didn’t Misa just tell Light last night that she wanted to continue on with the plan? Why bother sneaking behind Mogi’s back when she could have just told him she wanted to continue on with investigating the Yotsuba members? She has to be hiding something, right?
/slight timeskip/
“I’m back!” Misa chirped as she entered the room.
Keiko watched as the blonde skipped over towards the center of the room, she looks rather carefree despite the panic she caused Mogi...
“Do you have any idea what you put me through?” Mogi demanded, hands on his hips, “anything could’ve happened to you!”
Light crossed his arms, also looking quite upset, “Misa-chan, that was very dangerous! Like Mogi-san said, anything could have happened. Didn’t you tell me the other night that you wouldn’t be going through with the plan?!”
Misa cringed slightly at all the yelling, “I’m sorry Light-kun, I knew you wouldn’t budge and I didn’t want to worry you...and sorry, Mochi...I didn’t want to have to leave you, but it was the only way I’d get anything done.”
“And what did you accomplish?” L questioned.
“This!” Misa fished through her purse for her phone. She flipped the device open, then played the audio. “‘Alright, Misa-chan...I’m Kira. In order to make you trust me and prove that I’m him, I’ll stop killing criminals like you suggested. After all, that’s only something that Kira could do. Then, once you’re fully convinced I’m the real thing, we can get married!’”
W-what?! Keiko looked up. That voice...it belong to...Higuchi...of course it’s that creep! He was giving me weird vibes from the very beginning…
“And so,” Misa started, a triumphant look on her face, “Kyosuke Higuchi is Kira.”
Just like I thought, that voice belongs to Higuchi, Keiko’s stomach churned, but...how did Misa convince Higuchi to reveal his identity...unless…is Misa really the Second Kira?
“Alright!” Matsuda cheered, “now we not only know Kira’s identity, but the killings will stop! That’s amazing, Misa Misa!”
So, if the killing of criminals does actually stop, then it’ll be apparent that Higuchi probably has Kira’s powers. Keiko glanced over at the raven haired detective, whose face was neutral, knowing L, knowing who Kira is isn’t enough to fully solve the case. I’m sure he also wants to find out how Kira kills and if Light Yagami really was the original Kira…on the surface, it looks like Misa finding out Kira’s identity is a good thing, but in actuality, it’s only leading to even more trouble, especially if Misa Amane really is or was the Second Kira at some point. In that way, it’s also leading to more questions…
“Misa-chan,” Keiko watched as Light made direct eye contact with the blonde, “how did you get Higuchi to confess?”
“Eh? What do you mean? It wasn’t hard! That guy’s totally in love with me,” Misa winked, “all I had to do was tell him that I’d marry him if he was really Kira. Of course, it helps that he thinks I’m the Second Kira…”
Keiko’s eyes narrowed, he thinks you’re the Second Kira, or now knows for sure you’re the Second Kira? It’s far too suspicious. Kira wouldn’t give up his identity to someone unless the person gave them definite proof, right? Does that mean Misa is the Second Kira and somehow got her powers back?
“Misa-chan!” Light’s tone was harsh, “you idiot! I told you to deny all those allegations!”
Misa’s smile faltered, “b-but now we know that Higuchi is Kira. What’s the problem? Can’t we use this evidence to catch him?”
“I suppose this is what you’d call a victory, right, Matsuda-san and Amane-san?” L questioned, a neutral expression on his face as he chewed on a strawberry, “at any rate, we can’t make a move to arrest him until we are certain that criminals have stopped dying.”
“Ryuzaki-san, in our current situation, we still don’t know how Kira kills his victims, do we?” Light questioned.
L gave a nod, “yes, that’s right. Before we move to arrest Higuchi, I want to find out how he kills people. If criminals stop dying, we won’t be able to figure it out.”
It’s just like I thought, L wants to figure out how criminals are being killed.
“You mean we won’t be able to figure it out unless we come up with another idea,” Keiko murmured.
“Hm, exactly,” L paused for a second. After a moment, he typed for a moment on his computer, clicking on someone’s contact number, “Wedy?”
“Yes?” the woman responded, the lowercase ‘w’ showing on the screen.
“How’s everything going so far?” the detective questioned.
“Good. Things are going smoothly. I’ve only gotten into five out of the seven’s houses so far but-”
“How about you just focus on Higuchi? Have you gotten to him yet?”
“Higuchi?” Wedy paused, “yes. So far, his house had the most complex security system. He also recently constructed an underground room that shuts out any electronic waves. It took me two days to break in.”
“This guy sure does sound suspicious,” Matsuda muttered under his breath.
“I see,” L responded. “Please begin installing wire-taps, trackers, and cameras in Higuchi’s cars rather than his house.”
“What?!” Wedy’s voice was slowly rising, “do you know how difficult it is to break into somebody’s house? And you want me to break into his cars as well? Do you have any idea how many cars this guy has?!”
“Six,” L said simply, taking a bite of another strawberry.
Keiko could hear Wedy sighing on the other side of the line, “you want want me to install them on all of his cars, correct?”
“Yes, please do,” L responded.
Out of the corner of her eye, Keiko saw Misa shift a bit on her feet. Keiko turned slightly so she could get a full view, studying Misa’s face as she did so, no way! It was only for a second, but I could have sworn that she looked worried. Why would she be worried about L deciding to bug Higuchi’s cars? It has to mean she’s hiding something. At this point, I’m almost certain that she really is the Second Kira…
“Light-kun,” L started, breaking through Keiko’s thoughts, “do you, perhaps, remember how to kill?”
Light was clearly thrown off for a second, “wha? You’re still saying that?! I’m not Kira! How many times must I tell you that?!”
“Just answer the question,” she heard the detective respond.
Keiko’s heart dropped, that’s right…if Misa’s the Second Kira, then that means Light was the original Kira this whole time...
Light was silent. Upon seeing that he wouldn’t respond, L shifted his attention towards Misa, “what about you, Amane-san. Do you remember?”
“I don’t remember!” Misa bellowed out, “how could I? I’m not Kira!”
“Fine,” L turned towards Light once more, “look, Light-kun, please listen to what I’m about to say. I’d like you to thoroughly analyze my current theory. This could determine in what way we choose to capture Kira.”
Is this another test…?
Light crossed his arms, “alright, Ryuzaki-san. I’ll listen. What is it?”
“Light Yagami used to be Kira. Kira’s power has somehow passed to someone else, meaning that now Light Yagami has no memory of ever being Kira. I’d like you to please give me your thoughts based on these assumptions. Do you think you can do that for me?”
“Yeah, I’ll give it a try,” Light murmured.
“As I said before, Light Yagami used to be Kira. And then his power passed on to someone else. Was it because Light Yagami wanted it to happen? Or was there someone else behind Light Yagami who gave him Kira’s power? Did that person pass Light Yagami’s power to someone else?”
This has to be another test, right? And anyway, if Light was Kira and lost his power, given the circumstances, it almost seems like it would have been Light’s choice. After all, he was under constant surveillance. Given his premise, that’s what makes the most sense, right?
Light closed his eyes, thinking for a moment, “Ryuzaki-san, given your theory, I believe that it would be my will…”
“Yes, of course,” L responded.
Does this mean that he passed the test? What’s L trying to do here?
The detective continued on, “if there is a third party with the ability to bestow or transfer Kira’s power, and they didn’t want their methods to be discovered, it makes no sense that they would wait so long to transfer from you to the next person. If we believe that this was the work of some being watching us above, then we’d have to accept that they are impossible to catch...not to mention, I’d already be dead, or at the very least, I’m being made to be a fool by dancing on the palm of his hand...it’s highly unlikely that such a being exists. Thank you for playing along, Light-kun, I feel much better.”
At the mention of L dying, Keiko shivered, but, if Misa is the Second Kira like I suspect, then doesn’t that mean that there’s a high chance that L will be killed soon anyway? Just the thought of L dying makes my heart ache…I’m still sort of mad but… curse him for making me worry about him!
“We shall create a situation where Higuchi will not be able to pass on his power to anyone else, we’ll have him show us how he kills as well,” L announced.
“So, what exactly are we doing to do?” Light questioned.
“I’m going to trick Higuchi using Sakura T.V...we’ll use the Kira special that Demegawa airs every week. We’ll book a three hour time slot. It’ll be announced that Kira’s identity will be revealed near the end of the special.”
Concern stretched across Matsuda’s face, “would anyone actually buy that? This is Sakura T.V. you’re talking about...for all we know, Higuchi might not even watch that program.”
“Yes, I thought about that,” L responded. “We’ll contact Namikawa and have him call Higuchi, telling him something like ‘this is bad. Turn on your T.V.’”
“Higuchi will buy it because he’ll realize that the person who is on T.V. is someone who knows his secret,” Light added, catching on to L’s plan.
“Oh, I get it!” Matsuda pumped a hand into the air, “so we’re going to use Aiber, right? He’ll reveal that he was really a spy all along.”
“Not by a long shot,” L popped another strawberry into his mouth, “we won’t be using Aiber.”
At this, Keiko let out a giggle, catching on as well, hmm, so Matsuda hasn’t caught on that L wants him to be the bait?
Matsuda’s eyebrows furrowed together, “then who…?”
“It’s simple, really,” L replied, “whoever appears on the show has to be someone who Higuchi thinks he can kill...in other words, someone whose name he can easily look up…”
“But we’re never gonna find a person like that, are we?!”
At this, Keiko glanced over at Matsuda. It wasn’t just her, everyone else in the room was staring at him expectantly as well.
“Matsu!” Misa called out.
“Higuchi probably thinks that you were listening in on their meeting and overheard their plans to kill people,” Light explained, “it would make sense that Misa’s manager, who he thought was dead, is the one revealing his secret.”
“That’s right,” L interjected, “we’ll have Sakura T.V. use a screen as well as a voice filter to protect your identity. Higuchi will probably realize from the announcement and your silhouette that it’s Matsui, Misa’s manager. Just to make sure, we’ll have the station make a mistake and accidentally flash the face of the person behind the screen. Until the show ends, they will keep playing announcements saying that the name of H, otherwise known as Kira, will be revealed at the end.”
Interesting...
“This means that Higuchi will feel cornered,” Keiko started, “and he’ll have no choice but to find out the manager’s name as soon as possible.”
“Exactly, and with this, we will witness his killing method,” L added, “after that, we can go forward with arresting him...however, right now there’s one potential problem with this plan. If Higuchi can kill by simply looking at someone’s face, like the Second Kira, then there’s a possibility that Matsuda-san will die.”
Wait a moment, Keiko thought. She opened her mouth to speak, “I wouldn’t worry too much about that, Matsuda-san. He’s already seen your face, and you’re still alive. And look at how he’s pursuing Misa-chan thinking that she’s the Second Kira.”
“At any rate, we’re only going to do this once criminals stop dying,” L said. “Therefore, we will have to wait a few days to see what happens. In the meantime, Matsuda-san will have to decide whether or not he’s willing to go through with this.”
“I don’t need time!” Matsuda bellowed out, a determined look on his face, “Ryuzaki-san, I’ve already decided! I want to do this!”
“Good, thank you, Matsuda-san,” the detective offered the young policeman a sly smile, “through this method, we should be able to successfully witness how Kira kills…”
And for now, I guess we wait...however, in the meantime I should keep a careful watch on Misa...and my ex-boyfriend, for that matter...if Misa is the Second Kira and she has her power and memories back, then I suppose it might only be a matter of time until Light gets his back...wait a moment, Keiko let out a soft gasp, perhaps...if we are to assume that Misa is the Second Kira, and right now Higuchi is Kira...then...if Higuchi gets captured, is it possible that, assuming my ex-boyfriend is Kira, Light will get his powers and memory back from Higuchi? I suppose it’s possible...but, is my ex-boyfriend Kira? Given the evidence, I’d have to say it’s him…

“No personal texting when you’re on the clock, Haruno.”
Her Team Leader had been coming down on her hard since that meeting and everyone felt it. Sakura found it ironic that she’s being reprimanded for something as minor as sending a few texts and yet he had no problem sending her on personal errands for him (as punishment for the meeting).
Thankfully, next week that would be ending since the Intern Program forced interns to rotate departments to take on different work. ‘ To find the best fit for each candidate’ said the information packet.
She hadn’t told anyone what had happened. Not even Tenten, who would have fired up and told her to stick up for herself. As much as she would have liked to do that, she was only 3 months in to a 12 month internship and burning bridges now would only hurt her career long term.
She would however, have a glass of wine and watch reruns with Tenten when she got home.
黑
“You made it!” Izumi squeals happily, pulling Sasuke into a tight hug. “Come in!”
“Like either of you would let me live if I didn’t.” Sasuke says, as he takes off his shoes at the door.
“That’s for sure, little squirt.” Shisui says, taking advantage of Sasuke bent over and puts him in a head lock and ruffling his hair, “You know how much your brother loooooves you.”
Sasuke manages to get Shisui in the ribs, hard. Shisui howls in pain and Izumi laughs.
The three of them had been inseparable since they were children and the bond between them only grew stronger. Both Shisui and Itachi were the kind of men who loved unconditionally, deeply and without restriction. Izumi had a big heart and wanted the best for his brother and Shisui. While Sasuke didn’t really understand how none of them imploded from jealousy (Sasuke himself was not the type of man to share), he couldn’t imagine them without each other - they were just that.
“Little brother.” Itachi says warmly, emerging from the kitchen.
Smiling, he walks into his brother’s embrace. “Happy birthday. I got you your favourite - 12 year old Kamazaki.”
“You spoil me. We’ll crack it open later.” Itachi says smiling, accepting the bottle of whisky. “Mother says she’s stuck in traffic. They’re going to be a bit late to dinner.”
Sasuke had known about the three of them for years but so had their parents. To his surprise, they had never made any off colour comments about their eldest son’s arrangement (as some relatives would call it).
Mikoto had been nonchalant about it - or at least seemed that way when Sasuke had overheard a hushed conversation between his parents.
“Anata, your son loves both Izumi and Shisui. You’ve known this ever since they were children. Was there ever a time they weren’t together?”
Fugaku hadn’t said anything - something he usually does when his wife is correct. Which is a lot of the time.
“Does his preference somehow change him?” she asked gently when Fugaku stayed silent a touch too long. “Does it stop Itachi from being the kind child he is?
“No.” said Fugaku firmly, “No, Itachi has always been a child that’s full of love. I hadn’t anticipated just how much.”
For Izumi and Shisui’s birthdays later that year, they were given with heirloom gifts - Mikoto’s pearl and diamond earrings and Fugaku’s sapphire and platinum cufflinks. Sasuke understood the importance of these gifts, especially the cufflinks from Father. It was their way of welcoming them into the family and to hell with the gossipy relatives.
The topic of weddings and children were never brought up - they all figured that they’d talk about it when they were ready to share.
Dinner consists of Itachi’s favourite dish - ochazuke. Even though technically it’s considered the kind of simple dish you make when you have next to nothing in the fridge but last night’s fish, Shisui’s version is anything but simple. The dashi is beautifully savoury and the fish fresh, the skin crispy. Shisui serves it with some of his homemade pickles, featuring vegetables he had grown himself. Sasuke doesn’t partake in dessert - unlike his brother, he isn’t much of a sweet tooth. Mikoto makes fun of Itachi and says that he’s eating too much of the Izumi’s Fluffy Cheesecake and that he’s getting chubby. Fugaku praises Shisui on the pickles and Shisui tells him to take some home with him as Izumi is getting sick of seeing all the canning jars in the fridge. It’s when Fugaku and Shisui are discussing gardening techniques (as Fugaku himself has taken to it) and Izumi is encouraging Mikoto to come to her yoga lessons that Sasuke notices his brother’s absence.
Sasuke finds his brother later in his study, nursing a glass of whisky. Escaping family gatherings for a few minutes with a glass of his favourite liquor was a habit of his.
Pouring himself a glass, he sits down in an armchair.
“Another year older.” Itachi muses. “You know, we’re thinking about trying.”
Sasuke raises an eyebrow. “Trying?” inviting Itachi to elaborate further.
“For a baby. Izumi isn’t getting any younger. She keeps making jokes about her body clock but I know she’s anxious.”
“Oh.” is all he can say. A million more questions flood his mind and he needs to ask the obvious.
“Whose?”
Itachi laughs. “Like I said, we’re just thinking of it. I know okaa-san wants a grandbaby to spoil.”
This was true. Mikoto had been teasing the three of them, asking them when she could expect a little bundle of joy. At first it had been just a casual question but the question was popping up with more frequency.
Itachi notices Sasuke making that weird frowny face. The one where lips make an almost frown and that frown line on his brother’s otherwise smooth forehead makes an appearance. He only makes this face when he wants to ask something but doesn’t know if he should.
“Go on, ask.” he says.
“Are you happy?” Sasuke blurts out and for a moment, he’s reminded of Sasuke as a child.
“You’ll have to be a bit more specific.” Itachi says gently.
“Being here with Shisui and Izumi. Not having any part of the business anymore. Are you happy?”
Itachi smiles. Every once in a while, Sasuke would ask him about his lack of involvement in the company started by their father. He himself never once cared for business, although it so happened that he was good at people. All he ever remembered wanting was a quiet life with Shisui and Izumi. Business didn’t allow for that. Nor did it allow for Itachi’s softer, gentler nature. His little brother was much more suited to it. His stubborn streak, his eye for detail and his ability to remain collected in the face of difficult situations made him a natural candidate.
Of course, that’s not what the papers saw. The papers saw an ambitious younger son (indeed, Sasuke was ambitious in that he didn’t want to live in the shadows of his older brother) overthrow the elder son to take position as the Director of Uchiha Enterprises, leaving the elder to find a different vocation. What they didn’t know that Fugaku had never planned for Itachi to remain Director for multiple reasons. Fugaku only asked that Itachi take the role for a little while, so that Sasuke himself could learn about the business from the bottom up. Not to mention that Itachi’s complex relationship would be fodder for media vultures and he’d wanted to spare his elder son from the scrutiny. Fugaku knew his sons well and had enough faith in the both of them to run the business well (while he went with Mikoto on that trip around the world he had promised her when they had gotten married).
Itachi doesn’t think his father ever said any of that to Sasuke. Fugaku was never one for proud, sentimental words (at least not directly) even though he think that Father was secretly the most proud of his younger son. He does know that Sasuke does put a heavy burden on himself to uphold the Uchiha name and to run the business well - a self imposed burden.
“Yes, Sasuke. I’m happy.”
Time for you to find yours.

From: Takaya Ito ([email protected]) To: Sakura Haruno ([email protected]) Subject: Internship Program - 2nd Quarter Placements
Hi Sakura,
I hope you’re enjoying your internship. As you are aware, interns will rotate roles and departments on a quarterly basis, with the eventual goal of finding the best fit for you at Uchiha Enterprises. The next quarter, you will be working under Director Uchiha as his executive assistant. Please see Keiko on Friday for handover.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Kind Regards,
Ito Takaya
黑
Sakura’s jaw clenches when she reads the email. Executive assistant.
She didn’t suffer through 3 years of university just to become someone’s coffee fetcher! This must be some kind of cruel and unusual punishment - from her Team Lead and from divine forces unknown.
The other interns organise a dinner, to celebrate getting through the first quarter of the program.
All the interns were being moved to various departments according to the disciplines they had majored in. Annoyingly enough, Toshiro is moved to a project team and was using the dinner to lord it over the other interns.
“No one fucking cares, Toshiro. So do us all a favour and shut up.” Ami says, having reached her patience quota for the night and downing her drink.
“Sakura, where are you going next?” Hiromi asks, leaning in.
For some reason, Hiromi reminds her of a vulture (a blonde vulture) and she isn’t sure if she doesn’t want to answer out of shame or because of Hiromi.
“Uhm, I’ll be working under the Director as his executive assistant.” she says quietly, moving the rest of her bean salad around on her plate.
She sees Hiromi’s jaw tighten. Sakura is sure Hiromi would have loved to be in her position, working under the Director and Sakura would have swapped with her gladly as Hiromi was also moved to a project team. The other interns are surprisingly sympathetic but she can’t seem to shake off Hiromi’s stares for the rest of the night.
When Friday morning rolls around, she heads to the 38th floor to find Keiko. She finds Akane at the front reception desk.
“Oh! Sakura! Welcome! My name is Akane. I’m the office manager here. We’ll be talking a lot. I organise meetings and run the office - make sure there’s enough ink in the printer that sort of thing.” Akane shakes her hand vigorously.
I hear you’ll be replacing Keiko. Director Uchiha’s office is that big one all the way out back. You’ll see Keiko at her desk just outside. Between you and me, as long as you get the Director’s coffee order right, he’ll be happier with you than with Keiko.” she says with a wink. “Good luck!”
Sakura finds Keiko at the desk, looking as bored as she did in that meeting a few weeks ago, flipping through what looks like the latest issue of Haute.
“Oh finally. You’re here. He’s not in yet.”
Keiko is blunt and to the point. There isn’t much to the handover - just the handful of appointments and a few dry cleaning tickets (although the pile of papers seem to suggest otherwise).
“Usually the Director already knows what meetings he has.” she says, shoving the last of her desk ornaments into a file box. “Thank fuck I won’t have to get any more coffee.”
“Where are you transferring to?” Sakura asks. She’s curious to know where on earth Keiko is going to warrant being replaced by an intern.
“Marketing. Anyway, good luck!” Keiko says with a smug, catlike smile before sauntering off with her file box, leaving Sakura at the desk.
Good luck, indeed.
黑
“Tenten-chan!”
“Yes?” Tenten puts down the fabric scissors and pokes her head out from the sewing room.
“Ah there you are!” the elderly Yoshikawa-san says, patting Tenten’s arm. “A very important customer is coming in this afternoon. Can I ask you to perform the fitting? Asahi is meeting another client.”
“Of course! Leave it to me.”
Tenten smoothed the suiting fabric she was working with that day. She hadn’t expected to find herself in this line of work - she had originally dreamed of becoming a traditional Chinese dancer. However a combination of lack of jobs and oversaturation of talent as well as her body proportions (she wasn’t the delicately emaciated maiden that most dance companies looked for) made it difficult. Luckily, over the years she had altered her own dance costumes and clothes which led her to a part time alterations job at a dry cleaner’s to pay the bills which then led her here.
Sure, it wasn’t the career she had dreamt about, but it paid the bills and she was good at her job. She loved Yoshikawa’s little shop. It had all the original fittings - dark oak panelling, brass doorknobs and creaky doors with tinkling bells that chimed when customers walked in and out of the shop. On the glass window, ‘Yoshikawa & Sons’ was printed in a beautiful serif font.
Yoshikawa Inari was the best bespoke tailor in Konoha and Tenten considered herself incredibly fortunate that she works for him. Not very many bespoke tailors took on female apprentices but the Yoshikawa-san saw something in Tenten and decidedly hired her when no one else would. Yoshikawa-san was extraordinarily kind, humble and patient as he taught his craft to his grandson, Asahi. He treated Tenten as part of the family and would always give her a generous quarterly bonus.
She just about finished with the vest lining she was working on when the doorbell chimes.
“Ah welcome! I’ve been expecting you. Have you been well?” she hears Yoshikawa-san address the client. "How is your father?"
She hurries into the small kitchenette to prepare some tea while they make small talk. Placing two porcelain cups and the teapot on a wooden tray (all of which were antique), she walks out, almost dropping the tray in shock.
“Ah! This is my apprentice. She’s cute isn’t she?” Yoshikawa-san beams as he introduces them, “This is Hyuga Neji. You’ll be performing his fitting today. Tenten-chan? You look as if you’ve seen a ghost!”

ST: TNG S4 Watchthrough Episodes 10-13
The Loss: They did it again guys! They made a good episode about the female character! This time for Troi, yay! I love the woman, but her focus episodes have just been… let’s just say not up to par. But this time? A strange anomaly causes Troi to lose her empathic abilities, and… well, she doesn’t take it well. She tries to take it well, but when one loses a part of themselves that they’ve had their whole lives and rely on for not only their job but to go about their day? You’re not just okay. Deanna tries to just live with it and deny that it’s an issue. All it does is cause her frustration to build up and lash out. If this was an episode meant to focus on disabilities… well while I don’t have one, Troi’s reactions make perfect sense. She gets rather harsh, but I’d be more concerned if she didn’t cause… yeah. Everyone tries to be sympathetic, but all it does is make her feel like they’re pitying/acting condescending towards her. Again, understandable. Everything that she is feeling is perfectly understandable and I just want to hug the poor woman. I feel like there are some issues like Riker, while I can tell that he was using a tough-love approach t get her o get int ouch with her human half, was a huge asshole when comforting Troi the second time cause saying she acted like her Betazoid abilities made her superior to humans when she never did and is having a hard time adjusting to a major loss? Yeah… dude WTF? Also felt like Geordi shoudl have been utilized cause he’s also disabled and already figured out how to go through life with it. Even if Troi didn’t want his help, it would have been nice to mention. Also kind of conflicted on Troi getitng her powers back. I’m glad that she did, but I think it would have been much stronger if she hadn’t since she proved that she can still do her job without it, or have to regain it over time. Nevertheless, it’s still a really nice episode with Marina Sirtis doing an excellent job here, and again, Troi FINALLY got a good episode. Now keep it up TNG cause she deserves the best~! 4/5.
Data’s Day: We get a pretty unique approach for this episode. We follow Data as he is making a log to send to Maddox, who I guess had an epiphany since The Measure of a Man to not be a discriminatory asshole. Data logs what is, to him, an ordinary day on the Enterprise. We see him perform regular tasks, deal with problems, and his role in solving the Problem of the Week that would normally be the main focus. We get Data’s narration throughout, which allows his personal perspective on the matters. Also on this particular day, Transporter Chief O’Brien and a woman named Keiko are getting married… and Keiko gets cold feet and thus the whole situation becomes a lot more complicated with Data, who more or less got the two together, stuck in the middle. I really enjoyed this new approach! Not only is the episode still eventful to keep our interest, but it’s very much an episode that we haven’t had either here or in TOS. Just a day in the life of one of the characters, which with all the issues they get into once a week leaves plenty to over. We have a good balance of the Romulan/Vulcan Ambassador plot and the wedding and Data’s part in it. Seeing and hearing his perspective and things like getting Crusher to teach him to dance since he’s filling the ‘father handing off the bride’ roll for Keiko… it was just so fun. But the most important part of this episode… DATA HAS A KITTY! FINALLY WE SEE THE KITTY! I LOVE IT SO MUCH, IT’S SO FLUFFY~!!! The ending with the wedding was also just so heartfelt and I already love this O’Brien/Keiko pairing a lot~! When O”Brien gets promoted to main character status in DS9 they better give me all the domestic fluff! 4/5.
The Wounded: And speaking of DS9, while I won’t be watching that one until TNG is wrapped up, I do know that the Cardassians are a big deal within it. Guess it’s appropriate for O’Brien to get some focus in this one, I guess they were predictig the future here XD So here we have a Starfleet Capain named Maxwell who has gone rogue and blown up a Cardassian ship despite the Federation having a treaty with them. Why? A few things, but the short version is War is Hell and even when a war ends, the hate/prejudice formed against the enemy after years of kiling each other doesn’t just go away. O’Brien, while not murderous, served under Maxwell during that war and with the Cardassians on board the ship… yeah he’s got some issues. So first… I reaffirm what I said above, O’Brien/Keiko is freakin’ precious! I am SO happy to see a happy, healthy couple in something and they’re just so lovely~! Can we get more of this in the media? Please?! Second… just damn. Maxwell, while very much not protrayed as in the right and his actions nearly caused a war to reignite, feels very much like. traumatized man who never got over the horrors that he endured nor gotten proper help, and it lead to his hatred taking over and causing the deaths of hundreds. While we find that he did have some right to be paranoid, he still did it for vengeance and didn’t have legit proof to justify the provication (and even then that doesn’t justify the body count), but it still feels utterly tragic. O’Brien going to him at the end and talking him down from continuing the onslaught… damn man. IDK if they were planning DS9 when they made this episode, but if it’s anything like this one then I’m expecting some good quality! The trauma of war and how it lingers, what happens when you allow yourself to get comfortable in one’s hatred, and considering that O’Brien is a B-Team character the same way everyone not The Triumvirate was in TOS, I like the focus and development for the character and I’m so excited to see how it continues when DS9 comes along~! 4.5/5.
Devil’s Due: Okay first, the Christmas Carol simulation in the beginning is hilarious considering that Patrick Stwart himself would later play Scrooge. His is my mom’s favorite adaptation actually (Michael Caine will always be the true Scrooge to me though). Okay, the actual episode… it was alright. Honestly, it feels more like a TOS episode, albeit it’s not as frustrating to me as their attempts in the past. But we have a very attractive woman claiming to be The Devil romantically hovering over the Captain. Almost makes me think of Sylvia from the Catspaw episode. Kudos to the actress for Ardra, she really made what would otherwise be another sexualized, evil female character essentially forcing herself on the hero like in every other TOS episode with Kirk fun. She’s not intimidating, coming off more like a diet, far less complex female version of Q, but still fun. Otherwise, it was just okay. Not great, not horrible. Just kinda ‘watchable but indifferent about’ kind of episode. But after a more intensive episode like the last one, having something a bit more light-hearted without any serious introspection, politics, and trauma is honestly pretty welcomed. Also, Picard getting teleported to the planet in his pajamas and Worf just being so confused was the funniest scene all episode though Data as the judge in the court battle (just go with it) was also amusing XD 2.5/5
S4 has just been delivering hard thus far! Event he last one, while he lowest rated so far, was still fun. We’re about halfway through and I can’t wait for what else awaits~!

Digimon 00 - Fragments - 39
We’ve discovered a way to defeat Millenniumon once and for all.
Gennai’s email was one that had taken the Chosen Children, and everyone else who had received it, by surprise. It was a message that none of them had expected to see, and yet it filled them with far more hope than they had felt in a long time.
“Is this for real?” Keiko asked, brow furrowed and lips pursed. She and Ryo sat in the dining room of Crystal Tower, with one of their D-Terminals open and facing them with the video chat active so that Ken could join the conversation. Nyamon and Leomon were with them, along with FlaWizarmon, Witchmon, Higashi, and Zennyu as they all huddled around the table, discussing the email earnestly.
“It can’t hurt to try it, can it?” Ryo said with an uncertain shrug. He turned to the D-Terminal and tried to smile in spite of the despondent look on Ken’s face. “Right?”
Ken gave a non-committal hum as a response. He really didn’t know why they bothered asking him, all things considered. After all, it wasn’t as if it was up to him, or that he might be of any use. His input meant little to nothing.
Ryo’s smile dissolved as a sigh escaped him. Ever since Osamu’s funeral, Ken had grown quiet and depressed. The spark had disappeared from the Chosen of Kindness’ eyes. Unfortunately, there was nothing more they could do to help Ken. They had offered their condolences and sympathy, everything they could, but it would never be enough, because no words could bring back the dead.
Higashi watched the exchange with his emotions clear on his face, practically feeling the pain Ken was suffering right now, before he finally had to look away. He only glanced up a moment when he felt someone give his shoulder a squeeze to see Zennyu’s red eyes filled with sympathy gazing back at him. The silent support of his lover eased his heartache only a little, leaving him staring off into the distance.
FlaWizarmon glanced towards the screen that reflected Ken’s somber visage, then reached up to pull the brim of his hat down to shade his eyes for a moment before he straightened up again. “So, anyone else find it real interestin’ that Gennai an’ the Holy Beasts apparently got this all figured out but didn’t feel the need to tell nobody nuthin’?”
“Did you know anything about this?” Ryo asked as he turned to Higashi and Zennyu.
Zennyu’s neutral expression gave away nothing when he met Ryo’s gaze, before he clicked his pen. “No.”
“We are, unfortunately, just as much in the dark as everyone else,” Higashi said with an apologetic smile when he finally managed to look back at the children.
“I’m not surprised,” Nyamon said, her expression deadpan. “They’ve never considered Tenraimon an equal, and Narakumon’s one step away from being outright declared an enemy.”
Keiko scowled, arms folded in front of her, as a displeased noise rumbled at the back of her throat.
Nyamon nodded at her partner’s displeasure. “They won’t include us in anything unless they absolutely need to.”
“Like now,” FlaWizarmon said cheerfully, with a flourish of his left hand.
“I assure you, no disrespect was intended,” a voice came from behind the group, causing a few of them to jump before they all turned to see Gennai standing in the doorway behind them with a serene look on his face. “It’s simply that the most successful plans are typically the ones the enemy doesn’t know about.”
Zennyu stared at Gennai wordlessly before he clicked his pen and proceeded to write something down on his notepad.
“Yo, Gennai~!” FlaWizarmon said with a finger-salute from his brow. “So, what’s the deal?”
Gennai smiled at FlaWizarmon but said nothing, instead turning a pointed gaze to the D-Terminal in Ryo’s hand. More specifically, he turned his gaze to Ken’s watching face, which was quite a feat, considering he never opened his eyes to do it.
Ken blinked before he grimaced, catching the meaning immediately. It was hard not to, given how much it had disrupted his life up until that point.
“Ah, right,” Witchmon muttered lightly. “Millenniumon.”
A rush of anger swelled inside of Ryo at the reminder, but he forced it down as best he could when he turned to Ken apologetically. “Sorry, Ken. We’ll call you back and tell you what we can later, okay?”
Ken lowered his gaze, quiet for a long while before he finally let out a small, defeated mutter. “I know. See you later.”
With that, the Chosen of Kindness disconnected the call, turning the D-Terminal’s screen dark.
Keiko clenched her fist at her side. “Damn Millenniumon…”
Nyamon gave a grim nod before she turned to Gennai. “What’s the plan?”
“I know that it has taken quite some time, but we’ve finally discovered a way to neutralize Millenniumon’s powers,” Gennai said as he bowed his head. He then reached into his robe to pull out a small clear orb before holding it out to the others to see.
FlaWizarmon gave a blink before he tilted his head. “Uh, well. I guess it’s a nice lookin’ ball, and all buuuuut…”
“It is actually a containment barrier,” Gennai said with a chuckle. “One that would be use the only power that is strong enough to combat his own - that of the Chosen Children themselves.”
“You… intend to use the Chosen Children’s power?” Leomon asked, his eyes wide.
“Bit drastic, dontcha think?” Flawizarmon asked as he arched an eyebrow. “Is it really okay to use the kids like that?”
“We admit he’s been quite the consistent pain in our behinds,” Witchmon said as she pressed her fingertips together. “We know that more than anyone, but...”
“Millenniumon is using the power of the Digital World itself,” Gennai said. “He can manipulate it to the point that he can not only manipulate the flow of time but also create as many bodies as he likes, and control anything that is within this world. At this point, I fear that he is developing his ability even further, to the point that he may soon control the very fabric of reality itself.”
“W-whoa, whoa,” FlaWizarmon said as he raised his hands wardingly. “Are you serious!?”
“Can he really do that?” Witchmon asked anxiously as she glanced towards Keiko.
Keiko furrowed her brow and was about to respond when Narakumon’s voice responded in her head, quiet but firm.
“Yes,” Narakumon said, his words falling only on the ears of his Chosen and her partner. He didn’t look up, even as both Keiko and Nyamon turned to gawk at him. “He can.”
Keiko let out a quiet curse under her breath. “He wants to usurp you and Mama! He wants to take over as god of the Digital World!”
Ryo felt his stomach churn. “I think so too.”
“Yeah, that certainly sounds like somethin’ that arrogant prick would do,” FlaWizarmon grumbled as he scratched at the back of his neck.
“He’s certainly doing a good enough job trying,” Witchmon muttered bitterly. “Taking control of Digimon and even humans, manipulating time, hijacking the internet, creating whole new powerful Digimon…”
Higashi fidgeted in place as he glanced about the room before turning his anxious gaze to Zennyu, who gave an almost imperceivable shake of his head. The avatar angel of Light hesitated before he grimaced, then looked away.
Narakumon hesitated before he grimaced. He seemed to be chewing over his words, still not looking at his child. “Regardless, it is… true that at this point, the only power that can counteract his own is that of the Chosen Children. Just as I cannot resist your power, neither can he.”
“Then let’s give it to him,” Keiko said as she raised her fist with fire in her eyes. “We’ll smash it right into his stupid face!”
“Not you,” Narakumon’s voice came sharp. He finally looked up to meet Keiko’s shocked and somewhat outraged expression. “You are still too weak - I will not risk you. The others should be more than enough. He is not so powerful that it requires all the might of the Digital World itself.”
“Just most of it?” Nyamon asked as she quirked an eyebrow.
“I would advise against the Chosen of Darkness donating her energy,” Gennai said with a bow of his head. “Or the Chosen of Miracles, for that matter. We will need the both of them to confront Millenniumon when the time comes. As it is, the orb will drain the Chosen Child considerably, and they will not be able to assist us in this final confrontation.”
“So, what, you wanna drain just Ken-chan?” FlaWizarmon asked as he quirked an eyebrow. “There ain’t no way we would agree to that.”
“There are eight other active Chosen Children,” Gennai said, with a smile. “I am sure they would be more than happy to assist us. I cannot see any of them refusing, certainly not the bearer of Light herself. Though I admit that it is selfish to ask them, when they have already done so much to save our world.”
Keiko let out a frustrated huff of breath as she folded her arms across her chest and looked away, trying not to let the others see her sulk with minimal success.
Ryo let out a brief laugh at seeing such a pout, but the seriousness of the situation wouldn’t permit levity for long. “Don’t take it too personally, Keiko. You probably shouldn’t be donating your energy again so soon anyway. Plus you did save a life with it, so it’s not like it was wasted.”
There was a brief moment’s pause before Keiko let out a sigh and relaxed her stance just a little. “I guess you’re right.”
Witchmon hovered above Keiko and ruffled the Chosen of Darkness’ hair, who let out a huff and squirmed away from the oversized hand, which only brought a mischievous smile to the witch’s face. “You can’t handle everything yourself all the time, dearie. Let someone else shoulder the load sometimes.”
Keiko huffed and looked away as she smoothed out her rumpled hair, a pink tinge to her cheeks. “Maybe. Just this time.”
“I will invite the Chosen Children to the Digital World and ask them for their assistance,” Gennai said with a nod as he placed the orb back within his robes. “I will also take the opportunity to reunite them with their partners, and send them all back together. After all, they will need their support while they recover from the experience.” He paused for a moment before turning to smile at Ryo. “Would you like to come, young Miracles? It would be a good opportunity for you to meet the other Chosen Children.”
“Wh-wha?!” Ryo sputtered, eyes widening. “You want me to…” He trailed off awkwardly, face burning with embarrassment at how he reacted. It shouldn’t be a big deal, yet the very suggestion of meeting a group of strangers, warriors who took on the dangers of the Digital World entirely unaided for months, got his pulse racing.
Witchmon flashed a wide smile that showed off her razor sharp teeth as she leaned against Ryo’s shoulder. “I think that’s a swell idea. Making new friends is always so much fun, don’t you think, Lord Miracles?”
“Exactly~!” FlaWizarmon agreed. “It would be a perfect opportunity for Lord Miracles to expand his influence, and get a little socializing practice!”
Ryo knew his face must’ve been the shade of a tomato by now. “But I, uh…”
Keiko batted Witchmon away from Ryo so she could place her hand on his shoulder, drawing his attention to her sympathetic expression. “Don’t overthink it. While you’re doing that, I’ll fill Ken-chan in on what he can know right now and try to keep him from feeling left out. Sound fair?”
Although Ryo’s mind screamed ‘no’, and he wanted to switch jobs, he had to concede that it was too risky. Going to Ken’s hospital room and then apartment after the accident had been reckless enough, particularly since he hadn’t been thinking straight at the time. If Zeed had something big planned, then there was little doubt he would use Ken to ruin their attempts to stop him if he got Ken in reach again.
The lives of his friends was not something Ryo was willing to risk.
“Okay,” Ryo sighed, defeated, his shoulders sagging. Even if he accepted his duties, he couldn’t help but feel a growing sense of dread. “I’ll see you later then.”
Zennyu observed everyone gathered with a scrutinizing gaze as he took detailed notes that would have overflowed a single page of paper, yet his notepad took it all. It was when he paused to click his pen a few times that he noticed a new presence. Cassandramon stood partially in the doorway furthest from the gathering, her eyes focused on him with unnerving intensity, unwavering and unblinking.
Zennyu waited until Ryo reluctantly left with Gennai, and he finished one last note before turning to Higashi. “Excuse me a moment,” he murmured low into the other angel’s ear, pleased by the way Higashi shivered at the feel of his warm breath and blushed faintly.
Higashi offered Zennyu a weak smile as he tried to smooth out his reaction lest anyone else notice it. “Alright… take your time.”
Zennyu stole a kiss from Higashi, chuckling at the way hit made his lover squeak and his white wings puff up in surprise, then walked off as though he had done nothing. Although Cassandramon had disappeared from view, he went down the hall until he found her again, knowing that whatever she wanted to say was for his ears alone.
Cassandramon was waiting for Zennyu in one of the outdoor balcony gardens, the Digital World stretching far below her and onward past the horizon. As Zennyu entered the balcony, the seer didn’t turn to face him. “The upcoming battle will be important.”
“Quite the understatement,” Zennyu said dryly as he clicked his pen at his side. “Particularly if you feel the need to discuss it with me.”
“Death will be inevitable,” Cassandramon said as she pressed her fingertips together.
Although Zennyu kept his expression neutral, his muscles faintly tensed, the clicking of his pen rhythmic. He remained silent, gears turning rapidly in his mind, until finally, he said one low word. “Whose?”
Cassandramon was silent for a moment before she tilted her head. “Some deaths will lead to a better result, while others…” She trailed off before finally turning to face Zennyu. “...Would be very inconvenient.”
“‘A better result’,” Zennyu repeated darkly. “That can only happen if they can be reborn afterward.”
Cassandramon stared at Zennyu, her blank expression giving nothing away. She then made a humming sound before she straightened her head. “The choice is ultimately yours.”
“So my actions will decide whether or not death is permanent for one or more?” Zennyu asked as he raised his notepad and pen. “I want details. Now.”
Cassandramon didn’t respond at first, allowing silence to linger between them for quite some time as she blandly met the angel’s scowl with an empty expression of her own. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, she tilted her head to the side as her middle eye opened up wide, the golden iris staring at Zennyu. “I suppose it would be interesting to see what the Dark Ocean will do to Higashi instead of you.”
The air thickened with tension as Zennyu lose his composure, throwing aside his writing implements as his expression contorted with rage. “No!” he roared as chains lashed out from his body, smashing the walls and balcony railings around Cassandramon, though neither they nor the debris hit her. Even still, they remained around her, hooked into shards of crystal almost like a cage. “That is not the future you will guide us to!”
Cassandramon didn’t so much as flinch as she straightened her head, all three of her eyes going half-lidded. “As I said, it is your choice.”
Zennyu’s harsh breath hissed in and out between his teeth angled in a snarl. It took him nearly a minute to reclaim some composure and retract his chains to their resting place around his body, but his red eyes glared death into the three-eyed angel. “Details. Now.”
Only now did the expression on Cassandramon’s face finally change, as a small smile cutting across it. “As you wish.”
