who is your favorite bob's burgers character? what's your favorite aspect about them?? what's your LEAST FAVORITE??
Thank you so much @br1ghtestlight for giving me this ask!! 😭❣️ Just for the future, though, if anyone wants to give me an ask, it’ll have to be through this account, because any ask given through my main account disappears because I’m still Shadowbanned and Tumblr is mean 😒
But onto the actual question!! Well, Light, you already know my absolute favorite is 1,000% our precious baby boy, Gene. I think my favorite aspect about him is that he has some of the best lines in the show humor-wise, but he has a great deal of depth hidden underneath the surface. He’s genuinely an incredibly talented musician (even though he and show claims he only knows a few chords, come on, he’s actually super talented) and he’s such a sweet person. He doesn’t enjoy pranking people simply because it makes them confused and uncomfortable. He just wants people to be happy!! 🥺
He also has a bigger body type which is rarely commented on and he has a love of food which is super relatable to me (I just love food, pffffft). And the headcanons of him being Genderfluid gives me an insane amount of Serotonin. It just makes me insanely happy. As a Genderfluid person, it makes me feel seen and represented, even though he’s not canonically Genderfluid. Just seeing him be unapologetically himself is incredibly lovely.
Now, because there are just so many characters I love, I must list a second favorite. And that would be Bob!! Previously, I’ve said Linda, and don’t get me wrong, I still love her. She’s hilarious and amazing and truly the best wife (🎶 Best of Wives and Best of Women 🎶) but there’s just something about Bob that’s so relatable to me. He’s always tired but always tries his best. Not to mention that his passion for cooking and feeding people is just so sweet 🥹 He loves making food for people and having food bring people together!! It’s so lovely.
Bob is also super Introverted which I relate to very hard. He has a hard time making connections with other people, and has a tight-knit circle (AKA his family) that he prefers spending his time with. And he sometimes has difficulty talking to people without coming across as weird, which I also relate to. Plus, his little quirks are so endearing, like talking to inanimate objects and pretending they’re alive. And getting so hilariously excited about Thanksgiving 🤣
And Bob and Gene together brings one of the most underrated and sweetest relationships in the Belcher family. Their Father/Son relationship is always so adorable to see. The Laser-Inth will forever be my favorite Bob and Gene episode, and probably solidified these two as my favorites.
As for my least favorite, at first I was going to say that’s difficult, because I love almost every character in the show for one reason or another. But then I realized what the obvious choices are: Gloria and Al. They are the absolute worst. Linda deserves good, doting parents, and these two are the complete opposite of that in every way. Sure, maybe they were slightly better when Linda and Gayle were younger, but definitely not now. The Terminilator II: Terminals of Endearment really solidified just how awful they truly are.
Linda dropped everything to help them at the airport, even forcing Bob to close the restaurant for the rest of the day. Then the entire family went on a wild goose chase trying to track down both Gloria and Al, who somehow kept escaping from their line of sight. Only to find out that these two could’ve bought Al’s cream at the airport themselves the whole time. Not to mention the fact that they found out that Gloria just stole Bob’s charger and refuses to admit it. They keep making excuses for their horrible parenting and Linda just has to deal with it, which is wildly unfair.
Plus, Gloria once told Linda that they aren’t the type of people who build things?? Who says that to their daughter?? These two frustrate me to no end. Definitely the worst characters in the show, no contest.
Tina gets an honorable mention simply because of how relatable she is and how sweet she is. She just has such a kind heart like Gene (except when it comes to Tammy ☠️). But that’s okay, because Jimmy Jr. loves it when she’s mean 😌
As a treat for asking me this, here’s an image I found of the Burger Babies in Disney dresses!! Credit goes to whoever on Pinterest made this lovely image:
Also, because I need to be a gremlin every time I mention Gene, I’m going to promote Geneuary again, which begins on January 8!! Hype hype hype hype hype—
#asks#doodler’s daydreams#this was SUCH a fun question thank you!!#i saw a comment once saying that bob is the most dad ever and gene is the most son ever#if that doesn’t sum them up i don’t know what does 🤣#their relationship is lovely and i could spend all day talking about it and just them as characters individually#and i could also spend all day talking about how much i hate gloria and al because they’re the worst#linda (and even gayle) deserve so much better tbh#bobs burgers#geneuary2024

wants to quit but also doesn’t want to disappoint his dad
honestly he’s rather be doing dance with his sister than anymore sports but was shot down by his dad when he brought it up the one time
eventually she realizes she’s a girl but she doesn’t know how to bring it up to her dad- or even if she should at all given his past history reagarding Tanner’s interest in more feminine things

confident in his skills, but easily flustered by his social feaux paes
Defensive about his “weird” habits (his abnormal strength, love of meat, strange expressions, his old way of dressing, etc)
though he loves his family, he I had mixed feelings on their strange traditions, much to the chagrin of his father
he tends to try and hide it rather than explain it, never inviting people over and even occasionally claiming his fathers an accountant
His sister Heidi (whom he was closest to) felt the same way and ran away when they were 12 (he was 11), never to be seen again
this heartbreak almost divided the family, but they kept it together barely

~♡ TATE LANGDON:
before the pandemic, you and your family have moved into the murder house.
the house gave your family a very odd vibe, but nonetheless all of you had to bear with it because it was sold for a cheap price.
but when the pandemic arrived the country, you were stuck at home 24/7. thus, classes were online.
you met tate because of your father. tate was one of his patients and the both of you grew close.
"Y/N, what are you doing?"
tate would randomly barge in your room while having a class and you would jump out of shock.
"Jesus, Tate. Stop scaring me like that!"
tate would giggle and lay on your bed, observing the lesson that the teacher rambled about.
while you're writing notes, he would stand up and take a chair from some part of your room and sit beside you.
knowing that tate is clingy, you would warn him not to bug you and behave while you listened in class.
of course, he doesn't listen and he would place his head on your shoulder and eventually would cuddle you.
"Taaate, please let me focus."
luckily, you always keep your camera off.
"Mmm, no. I enjoy bugging you."
~♡ KIT WALKER:
one time, you were driving to school on your own and you were almost running out of gas.
luckily, you saw a gas station nearby and decided to get a fill before heading to school. and there, you met kit.
when you first laid your eyes on kit, you thought that he was the prettiest man ever. you couldn't let this chance slip, thus, you exchanged numbers with him.
you talked all day and night, the both of you were so inlove with each other and you finally decided to introduce him to your parents.
your parents loved him and you were so, so happy.
but when the pandemic came, it affected your relationship with kit.
since all schools and unis were closed down, everything went online.
when kit stayed over, he couldn't spend a lot of time with you because you had to attend classes early in the morning, till afternoon.
"Can you stay in bed with me for a little bit, darling?"
unfortunately, you woke up late that day and you missed 10 minutes of your first class. and just like that, you were stuck to your desk until afternoon.
"Kit baby, I'm sorry. I'm late for my first class. Maybe later, okay?"
as much as kit hated this whole online class thing, he would always find a way to cheer you up.
thus, he would cook you breakfast and bring it over to your room.
"C'mere, I'll feed you while you listen and write down notes."
~♡ KYLE SPENCER (PRE DEATH AND POST DEATH) :
PRE DEATH:
madison, your friend, had bugged you all week to go with her to this college frat party near your house.
you weren't the party type. you loved staying at home, watching netflix or reading some sort of fan fiction on wattpad.
but you hated being single. so, this was your chance to actually get a boyfriend.
when you arrived at the party, you immediately hated it. everything was so loud and everyone was drinking, it was definitely a new sight for you.
you were sitting on a couch that was in the balcony, with a red cup that was filled with punch. you loved being away from the commotion.
this is where you met kyle, it was love at first sight. the both of you had so much in common and you thought that he was the man of your dreams.
you exchanged snapchats and from there, you were partners-in-crime.
you and kyle had stopped going to parties ever since the pandemic arrived, which means you got to see each other less.
since the both of you were students, both of your classes went online.
one time, kyle had no classes for a day and he decided to surprise you.
that day, you were having an online presentation. both your camera and microphone were on.
"Rene Descartes was the Father of Modern Philosophy"
as you were presenting the slide show, you were cut off by kyle's presence infront of your desk.
"I brought you food, baby!"
you would shush him and suddenly turn off your mic.
"I'm so sorry, Miss. My boyfriend arrived and I—"
kyle would go beside you and kiss you on your cheek, your classmates and teacher cooing over it.
"Miss, you better give my girlfriend a good grade."
POST DEATH:
*pretend that he survived the bus accident and had a coma, because we arent involving witchcraft here*
kyle and his fraternity were on a bus that was going to some college event at school.
on the way there, you guys snapped each other and his friends would talk to you as well.
unfortunately, they got in an accident and the bus was flipped over.
a few students, including kyle, survived the accident.
when you heard this news, you cried your heart out and you didnt talk to anyone in your family.
you and your family visited the hospital and you rushed to kyle's room, it broke your heart to see tubes in him, with machines that beeped like there was no tomorrow.
when the doctor said that kyle was in a coma, your heart sank in the deepest part of your body.
this made you stay 24/7 with him until he was discharged.
when he was discharged from the hospital, he was not his usual self. the bubbly, energetic kyle was gone. instead, he was so confused with everything.
kyle's mom made him stay with you until he got his memory back, and you were more than glad to help.
but this took a toll on your studies because your classes were online due to a pandemic.
everyday in class, you would let kyle sit beside you and let him observe what you were doing.
"We're in Science class, Kyle. You were really good in Science, you helped me alot with my homeworks."
most of the time, you would help kyle develop his speech and his writing. but it was difficult for you.
"S-Sci... S-Sci-en.. ce?"
"Yes, Kyle! Good job, now one more time."
~♡ JIMMY DARLING:
ever since you were a kid, you loved going to carnivals, your parents would always bring you there every weekend.
there were carnivals almost everywhere, and your family brought you to all of them.
to you, each carnival was unique. the clowns and magicians in each carnival had different tricks up their sleeve.
but as you grew up, these carnivals slowly went out of business. except for one, which was elsa's cabinet of curiosities.
you decided to visit it one day just for a trip down memory lane, you never really had expectations for this place.
when you arrived there, there were a few people that were seated.
the show started and it instantly made you smile, they reminded you of your younger days. oh how you wished to be a child again.
you watched through a few acts, and the last act was a man named jimmy darling
when he came on stage, you locked eyes with him. there was something about him that really struck you.
after the performance ended, jimmy ran over to you and got your number. from there, you always talked and you would visit him regularly.
the regular visits stopped when the pandemic struck the country, forcing entertainment establishments, schools and unis to close down.
for the mean time, all your classes went online. you told jimmy that he could stay with you until things went back to normal.
on an early tuesday morning, you were in english class. jimmy was with your parents preparing breakfast, and you were falling asleep while your teacher discussed about the odyssey.
unlike tate, jimmy would always knock on your door. as his mom always taught, never enter anyone's room without knocking.
jimmy would giggle at your sleeping sight, your head lowered and your hair messed up.
"Hey, sweetheart, wake up! You're in class."
jimmy's timing was perfect. as he woke you up, you were called by the teacher.
"Miss Y/N, Do you think Odysseus was loyal to his wife?"
obviously, you panicked. but jimmy was there to save you. since jimmy was fond of reading, he finished the book and he whispered the answer to you before you could turn on your mic.
"No, Ma'am. Odysseus had an affair with Calypso and Circe."
once you got your teacher's approval, you turned off your microphone and let out a sigh of relief.
"You're lucky that I'm here to help you."
jimmy would joke and you would jump up to him, tackling him into a hug.
"I'm always lucky to have you, baby."
~♡ DANDY MOTT
at a young age, you were exposed to different types of fabrics. denim, silk, corduroy, neoprene. they name it, you've probably seen it.
your mother worked as a fashion designer. she managed to open a shop in the city and it was a great success for you and your family.
your mother has styled famous models. because of this, the shop was promoted and broadcasted all over the country. one day when you came from school, you saw a long line outside the shop.
that day, the staff count was low. there were only 5 employees instead of 10. you didn't exactly know why, so you decided to help.
after what felt like several hours, the long line finally dissolved into 2 customers, which was a mother and her son. they looked through the shop and the mother instantly loved everything.
her son, on the other hand, was trying on this lilac tux that your mother made.
you assisted her son and when you locked eyes, the both of you smiled. you entertained him throughout his shopping spree and the both of you never broke eye contact.
this was how you met dandy. he made the first move by getting your number, and of course you gave it back.
from there, the both of you talked day and night, even when you were in school.
since dandy's mother, gloria, loved your mother's shop so much, she would invite you and your mother regularly to her mansion.
gloria and your mother got along very well, and it was like gloria was your second mother.
so when your mother went to paris for a fashion show, she let you stay in gloria's mansion until she came back.
but to your dismay, your mother was not able to come back due to a pandemic that was all over the world. flights, establishments, and schools closed down.
of course you were sad, but you didn't worry so much because gloria treated you like her real daughter.
classes were online and you were forced to attend them everyday in the shared room you had with dandy.
since you had to get ready for class early in the morning, you would quietly get out of bed because dandy was sometimes a light sleeper.
it was around 8am and you were in math class. in your school, cameras were required to be turned on at all times. you thought this was a shit rule, but you had no choice to comply.
you were drawing some circles with a compass for an example that was being discussed by your teacher, when all of a sudden dandy was beside you.
"Dandy, sweetie, what are you doing up so early? Go back to sleep.."
dandy would pout at the lack of attention that you were giving him. since he loved holding your hand, you let him hold your other hand that you didn't use for writing.
"You're doing Math instead of cuddling with me!"

‘When I look back on my life It's so hard to face you I never wanted to fight this fight I'm ashamed of the truth No, I don't want to hurt you, baby I don't want to hurt you, baby I didn't mean to hurt you, baby
God, I'm sorry’
When I look back on my life I never wanted this fight (I don't want to hurt you baby) If I could turn back time (I don't want to hurt you baby) I would make it alright (I don't want to hurt you baby)
I love you, I love you sunshine’
Unbelievable, but I painted something new and even managed to finish it in two sittings.
Finally a proper painting of my Sabbat Nosferatu character Fox for our upcoming Sabbat game set in San Francisco. Since his story didn’t start yet I can only share something about his background.
Fox came to San Francisco from a small town in Ohio to escape a brewing unhappiness and resentment towards his mother and responsibility of caring for his two younger sisters that in his eyes slowed him down. He was tired of having to act like an adult in his family and also having to endure the looks and gossips of his classmates, because everyone knew what his mother did for a living to be able to take care of her three kids.
He had these naive dreams that living in California will bring him more and better opportunities to make good money and to live the life he often saw on tv growing up. He really wanted to become something, to prove his mother that you can get money with honest, not self-degrading work. He really hoped that he will be able to earn enough money to ensure that his sisters will never end up in the same line of work as his mother. Of course the reality was not quite how he imagined, he struggled to find work at first, having to even spend a few nights sleeping in the park, but with his determination and eagerness to do just almost any work he was able to find various construction work and other small odd jobs to sustain his basic human needs. A lot of his colleagues were of Mexican and Venezuelan origin and through daily socializing with them he actually picked up some Spanish. He was still looking for a better, stable job but even though he often had little money to go on, he was adamant to stay clear of any criminal work. After about 6 months he was able to secure a job as the sewage treatment plant worker, it wasn’t as glorious work as he dreamed of and the surroundings were often very unpleasant, but he hid his pride and put his best efforts to do his job well. He quickly became very good at it and was even promoted, with the extra money he was able to rent a small apartment.Although far from how he imagined it, his life for the next few years was quite good, he managed to find himself a girlfriend and was planning to get marry to her, the biggest problem was that Gloria was in the US illegally, so he had to figure out how to make it happen.
Unfortunately everything changed when Fox got into an accident during his work when a gas pipe exploded and a fire had started. He was one of the few people injured, but unfortunately for Fox, he was the one who got the most severe burns that covered about 40% of his body, unfortunately also his lower half of the face, neck and hands. After this accident his life spiraled quickly, his company had friends in higher places, so instead of paying for health bills of their workers, they actually scapegoated Fox and sued him and his group of workers for the accident. He had no money for a fancy lawyer, so he lost the case, together with his medical bills his debts started piling up. His personality changed, he was angry or didn't speak at all for days. Gloria tried to help him and tried to be by his side, but he hated the fact that he could see the pity on her face whenever she looked at him. So he really started being mean to her so she would leave him alone, right now he didn't want anyone around. One day it got out of hand and he pushed her out of the door and told her never to come back, that she should get back to her Taco country or something offensive like that. He also managed to shout some Spanish insults at her, his words really hurt her as she ran away with tears. After a few days he felt really bad for breaking the things between him and Gloria in such a horrible way. He knew deep down that he needed her and wanted her by his side, even if it hurt to see how she looked at him, he knew that she was worth it. She actually never showed him where she lived before, so obviously the only places to look for her were the areas where she used to work. He hated to go outside and interact with people as they would always look at him the same, with pity and disgust, but he wanted to try to make up with Gloria. Yet when he asked in the bar the manager said that Gloria didn’t come to work in a last few days. He then went to ask around in the market she used to help and one of the women there told him that two days ago there was a police investigation and that they took a lot of people without proper papers away and that Gloria was among them.
Once again Fox felt absolutely helpless, she was probably detained and ends up deported back to Mexico and there is nothing he can do about it. He had no money, he didn’t even know where exactly she was. That night he bought a few bottles of tequila, drank as much as he could before he felt sick and threw up, which fucking hurt as all of his scars weren't fully healed yet. He hated himself, it was his fault she ended up on the street and now she is gonna end up back in Mexico with her last memories of him will be him yelling all this horrible shit to her face. He was ashamed of himself.
After this his life got even worse, now he had no emotional support, no friends, no job, painful scars that made him look like a monster. He usually spent his days staring at the ceiling, he couldn't really drink much as it was just too nasty, so he just existed for a while. His debts forced him to find work, but he couldn't do physical jobs he was used to anymore, he managed to find some odd jobs, probably because people felt bad for him which he resented. He even worked in 7/11 store, but all of his jobs were just temporary, he couldn’t keep any of them for more than for a week. It was not that his employers were unhappy with him, but Fox couldn’t just stand all the stares and pity looks he got from his employers, coworkers and customers. It didn't take long and he couldn’t keep up with the rent and when he lost the apartment, he became homeless. He could of course get back to his mother, but he actually didn't even notify neither him or his sister about his accident, he didn't want to be a burden and also he had too much pride to ever getting back to that shitty small town. All he wanted was to hide from people, to be spared of their pitiful glances and their talk about how strong he was. He wasn’t strong, he was a shitty, pathetic person who abandoned his family, resented his own mother, he failed his sisters and he treated the person that he loved as a Punchbag for his spite and insecurities, and now she will probably end up in some kind of human trafficking ring, because of him.
I will talk about his Embrace in more detail in some future post, but basically he was a shovelhead who somehow managed to get a chance to prove himself to the Sabbat. Although he loves his pack( some more than others) he still isn’t quite convinced by the Sabbat’s ideology, his biggest difficulty being the ever-present unnecessary violence, he still tries to cling to the last bits of humanity inside of him and that often leads to dissatisfaction from the Bishop and thus reflecting badly on his pack. He is torn between trying to fit in and wanting to measure up to his fellow Cainites and to do what feels right in his heart…
I am honestly very excited to finally play a Nosferatu. ❤

Love Doesn’t Do Encores Ch17 Return To Hammerlocke
To say you hated flying anywhere now would be an understatement. YOU ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY DETESTED IT!! The only reason you agreed was because it was already paid for and because it was the fastest way back to Hammerlocke. Woo hoo. You weren't really in the mood for more video game-..Uh. Strangers flirting with you, but at least Ms. Opal was nice company on the way there and it was very nice of her to pay for the entire ride over to Hammerlocke. You and Gloria buckled in on one side, with your Drizzilie and her on the other. When you all left Bellonlea you were a bit more cautious of your slow pace with her as you walked along the beautiful woods to leave, and kept snapping your head about keeping an eye out for any Team Yell members or that looney guy again. It was nerve wracking to say the least. Luckily you didn't run into neither when you finally got back to the lamp posts and the entrance into the forest. The corviknight and it's owner were fast asleep in one of the shadows of the trees before being woken up by Opal tapping him with her umbrella and requesting he take all of you to Hammerlocke. And after steeling your nerves and guts, you all piled in and did just that....for the next four and a half DAYS!! Opal had just relaxed back with her eyes closed most of the trip leaving you and Gloria to quietly talk between you two(when you weren't gripping your seat and forcing yourself to not look out the windows-) or more commonly watch more videos on her phone. Opal remaining silent and you would've sworn she was asleep if she hadn't opened her eyes whenever Gloria talked to her and talked back to you both in a polite but right to the point kinda way. Never heard anyone talk quite like her. You also made a few pitstops every few towns, mostly at night to let the driver rest and you have time to eat something at the local inn without having to worry about getting air sick for a while, before it was back to the fear inducing ride. You swore when you got back you were NEVER EVER going hang gliding, or even travel by plane after this. You also learnt within that time Opal was apparently looking for a successor to take over her gym soon and the person had to have something 'pink'...Whatever she meant by that. Eventually Gloria also found a good way to distract you away from your fear for short periods of time by the third day when she asked if there was anything you really liked listening too.
You blinked kinda surprised by her but shrugged and said, "Well, I've always loved music. In fact I wanted to go into the industry when I was your age."
She seemed surprised at your answer and even Opal cracked open a eye towards you silently. "Really? Why didn't ya ever say anythin' before?"
You shrugged with a slight frown. "Eeeeehhh. It's kinda...Complicated. I wouldn't say I'm bad but I'm not good enough of a singer for me to make a career out of it, and I can't really play any instruments too well. Unless you count the kazoo."
"What about a song writer? Bet you'd be good at that."
You shrugged. "I tried, but I'm not that creative enough to figure that out. But I am pretty good at working speakers, and I know a lot about how instruments are made and how they work. So I was going to get a business liscense and try to open by own Music Store."
"Well why didn't you?"
You paused at her question for a moment. You couldn't just say "Because I got sucked into an alternate dimension where pokemon happens to be real based off a game I used to play" unless you wanted them to think you were crazy!! Thinking quickly you shrugged and told the truth. "I left home around the time I was supposed to and started traveling." Which was the truth even tho you weren't sure exactly how you left or how to get back.
"Huh. Well I guess everyone wants ta see the world and do somethin' excitin'," Gloria said with a smile and you sighed in relief. Before she held up her phone to you. "If ya like music how 'bout I show ya more of Piers's songs? It'd be a good way ta pass the time. He's written n' sung LOTS of 'em."
You blinked....Piers?? OH! That Piers. "Oh. You mean the gym leader you told me about? I think I remember you showed me one of his songs back at Postwick."
She nodded. "He's a good musician. Ya wanna see some?"
"Sure why not?"
And thus the two of you relaxed back a little more now that you could watch this Piers person singing and mostly rock music filled the taxi cab for most of the remainder ride there. Of course you two made sure Ms. Opal was fine with it and after cracking an eye open said she didn't care at all. While you two watched him you had to admit his unique voice added to whatever vibe the music was with the accent he had melting among it....But when you looked at his blue eyes and pale-ish skin..you couldn't shake the feeling of deja vu that you've seen him before. Which you brushed off because of course you had seen him before when Gloria showed you a video of him performing with a band back at Postwick. Besides, you had more important things to worry about. Like getting home and right now getting to Hammerlocke in one piece. Which also happened the very next day. Gloria had pointed it out early in the morning when she looked out the window and pointed but you couldn't get yourself to look down in fear of losing your breakfast, clutching the seat tightly and praying the landing wouldn't be the same as the last time you landed. Luckily whoever was listening to your prayers answered them because other than one rough shove from the corviknight putting the cab on the ground, the decent and landing proceedure was pretty smooth. THANK GOODNESS!! When you finally peered out the window you were greeted with one of the entrances/exits to Hammerlocke. In fact it was the same one you two had traveled Route Six out of to head to Stow-on-Side. A Gym League staff worker awaited by the entrance, most likely for their badge rule too no doubt.
The taxi driver was quick to hop down and open the door for you three as well. "We're here ladies. Hope the trip was alright for you."
"Thank you, Young man," Opal commented slowly getting up and leaving the cab with you and Gloria right behind her. Once out she breathed a sigh of fresh air before looking up at the castle like town, "Hammerlocke. Always such a dusty town. Though I suppose some pokemon prefer it that way. "
Without even looking back to you she began slowly walking off towards the entrance, and you two slowly followed with Opal in front of you two. She was easily able to walk past the man who stood at the entrance but like the last time you were here, stopped Gloria, asked if she was a Gym Challenger, and then asked to see her badges. Opal continued walking as the two of you stopped and Gloria had to dig through her backpack to show the man her badge circle of five badges attached to it. With a nod you both were let in and she stuffed it back into her bag as you two continued off after Opal. And you looking around nervously keeping an eye out for Raihan just in case. ....But it seemed as Ms. Opal disappeared as you two walked along and looked around.
"Where did she go?," you asked peeking into the window of a cafe as you walked by but she wasn't in there. "She wasn't that far ahead of us."
Gloria shrugged as she looked at the people walking by. "She said she had some errands ta run so maybe she ducked into one o' these shops."
Hm. Maybe. You both continued walking and looking around as you neared the corner where the pink pokemon center you remembered seeing. As you two got closer and closer to the corner, someone with white fluffy hair and a giant pink coat rounding the other side of the corner onto the street on which you both walked. Both of you froze upon realizing the identity of the person who was walking towards the both of you. And he too froze lavender eyes blinking widely at the both of you as well as his jaw dropped somewhat. ...Before he pointed at you two with a large scowl.
"YOU!?"
"Uh...Hey, Bede," Gloria greeted with an awkward wave.
His scowl deepened as he shouted at her. "Come to gawk at me now that I've had my challenge band taken away and my gym challenger status revoked?!" ...WHAT!? Both your eyes widened as you looked at one another. Bede growling in frustration before gripping his fluffy white locks. "I've had to spend the past days working under that despicable Raihan person as 'punishment' for what happened in Stow-on-Side!! Do you know how much that idiot makes you work doing the most ridiculous things!? And now I run into you here too! Can you really afford to waste time like this?!"
"HEY!" Gloria scowled as well pointing a hand at him. "I was the one who saved your bloody sorry self from bein' crushed by a rock after you decided to play contruction worker with the mural! If it wasn't for me you'd be flatter than a waffle under yer own mess!!"
He scoff and turned his nose away. "Well....I suppose so. You no longer have to worry about catching up with me after all." His eyes narrowed at her. "I'll have you know though that I haven't given up! I must become the champion in order to help out the chairman! I will go and ask him to let me rejoin the gym challenge!"
"Again with the Chairman, mate?," Gloria sighed letting her arms flop to her sides as she turned from a scowl to a pitied look. "Look Bede. I dunno what to tell ya. It's kinda useless to keep wantin' ta help someone who kicked ya out of the challenge. Tho considerin' what ya did I'm not surprised that's what happened. Maybe ya should just forget 'bout the guy altogether."
He gasped offended a hand to his chest. "How dare you insult my reasonings with your twisted nonsense! Any girl who'd even consider fighting for my affection wouldn't be so brazen!"
"What are ye goin' on 'bout now?!"
"Hm? That boy." You jumped as the two kids still argued with one another, whirling around to face none other than Ms. Opal herself and she was staring right at Bede with curiousity in her eyes. ..Wait. Where the heck did she come from!? "Now that's what I could call pink! So sincere and straightforward yet so twisted and misguided. I like it! That's the kind of thing that gives people some depth!" Eventually Bede looked up from Gloria and had to do a double take blinking in confusion at the new arrival. "Time for my gym mission, Child!"
"HUH!?" Bede asked leaning back in confusion and surprise at what the older woman just barked at him. "W-Wha-!?"
You yelped as suddenly with speed you didn't think she had Opal RAN past you and up to Bede who froze in place wide eyed as she looked him over. "Pink! Pink! Pink!" She shouted as she examined him. ...What did 'Pink' even mean!? She chuckled a bit examining the frozen boy's dynamax band before looking up to him with a smile. "Congratulations, Child."
"M-Ms. Opal!?," Bede sputtered out pulling his hand away from her as he looked uneasy leaning away. Wait. Bede knew who she was? "What in the world has gotten in you?!"
"You were used by Oleana. Am I right?" Bede froze once again and behind her both of you exchanged bewildered looks behind them. Opal took his silence as a yes because she hummed and nodded. "You worked hard to gather wishing stars for her only to have her throw you away like rubbish once she was done with you." Wait...How did she know that? "Come with me, Child. I might be able to help you out." She offered.
And Bede ...blinked. "I...W-What?" He shook his head before frowning. "A-Are you saying you'd be able to get me reestablished back into the challenge?"
She chuckled and nodded. "Of course, it all depends on how much hard work you're willing to put in too."
"Are you...Are you testing me?," Bede challenged before clearing his throat and shaking his head, hands tucked into his pockets as he attempted to look calm. "Very well. I accept! In fact I plan on making sure you see my full talents and tell me everything you know about the wishing stars!"
She chuckled again before smiling wider. "I think my errands to Hammerlocke have been met." Taking a moment she turned to Gloria who blinked at her. "Farewell for now, Child. You should head to Circhester. I take it you know how to get to Route Seven." And she turned away back towards Route Six and simply began walking away. Like nothing that happened just happened.
Bede made to follow but paused before turning back to Gloria who still watched silently- Before clearing his throat and turning away again. "I-I still haven't decided what to say to you officially. I'll need more time to think and at the moment I-I'm way too busy! So d-don't follow me around!"
Gloria's brow rose more clearly confused. "Uh....Alright." You both watched as he jogged on after the older woman before she blinked and turned to you with a shrug. "What was that all about?"
......You smiled. "Oh nothing. I think they'll both be fine. I have a good feeling about this." You turned and nodded towards the train station. "C'mon. It's still morning so we'll have to wait for the afternoon train. If I remember right there's a food section in the train station. We can grab a bite there."
Gloria was quick to agree with the promise of food and you two headed off towards the station. To be honest you were looking forward to food too that wasn't bland or dried tasting camping food. You had eaten enough food like that to last you a hundred lifetimes. Without having to wait for Ms. Opal anymore the two of you could walk a little faster now and were easily near the station as you continued to look around for any signs of Raihan but thankfully still found none. When you were stopped by Gloria grabbing onto your sleeve and pointing. You blinked confused at her for a moment before looking to where she was pointing and you couldn't help but stare as well. NO WAY!! Who'd think you'd run into her again while you were here? It was Sonia! Again! She must've just walked from the station because she was coming right towards the both of you, but stopped once she took notice of the familiar sight. The three of you pausing and looking at one another before the redhead smiled and waved.
"Heya!," She greeted once she was close enough, "Fancy running into you here. The badge collecting going well?"
"Sonia!," Gloria happily exclaimed in surprise before nodding proudly. "I don't mean ta brag." She crossed her arms proud of herself. "But I won me two more badges since the last time I saw ya!"
Sonia chuckled at her antics and you asked, "What are you doing back in Hammerlocke?"
She turned her attention to you one hand on her hip. "I've been doing some research on the ruins in Stow-on-Side. The sword and shield. Once Mr. Rose had his team investigate it of course. ..But I still haven't figured out some things. What kind of Pokemon were they? And where are they now?" With a sigh she shook her head. "I still have so many questions. I was thinking about taking another look at the tapestries in-"
BOOM!! Sonia was cut off as what you could only describe as a gunshot from a gun the size of an elephant going off somewhere overhead. The very action made you react immediately by ducking and grabbing the back of your head as your Drizzilie dove behind you in terror at the loud noise and shaking of the ground. Gloria gasped and fell backwards onto her behind and Sonia had jumped back nearly falling over on those heels of hers. Blinking up and totally but understandably SHOCKED at the sensation you had just witnessed. Another boom!? AGAIN!? ....Oh NO!! Was that Bede again!? Was he doing something crazy again!? Other people around you yelling or having a similar reaction to one of you three.
"AGAIN!?," you asked to no one in particular.
"Are you kidding me!?," Sonia shouted herself glaring up towards a particular tower, "What was that!?"
"Do I look like I know?," you mumbled slowly leaning yourself up as Gloria made an attempt to get off the ground.
"Hammerlocke stadium shook...That's where Chairman Rose's power plant is isn't it?" You...nodded. You think so? It's been a while since you've been back here. But there wasn't any time for talking as a buzzing sound eminated from Sonia's pocket. She was quick to scramble, almost dropping the phone in the process, as she pressed the screen in a hurry and the buzzing noise ceased. .....Her blue eyes blinked widely at the screen. "Huh?....A..power spot?"
"Power spot?" You asked confused. "You mean like where you can Dynamax?"
She nodded not looking at you. "That's right. The power spot detector reacts when it's possible to dynamax."
You rose a brow. "Well that makes sense since there's a gym stadium here. You mean Raihan can't use the stadium's spot to dynamax?"
She went to answer but didn't get a chance too. "Usually you don't."
"GAH!!" You jumped in surprise and snapped your head around to the person who scared you...And came face to face with none other than the Champion. Leon chuckled seeing your expression...before you scowled. "HEY! I thought I asked you NOT to do that the last time!"
He chuckled some more before waving a hand. "Sorry, Y/n. Hey Sonia- Oof!" He laughed more and patted the top of Gloria's head as she hugged him beaming. "And you too, Gloria! Wow. You've gotten taller! By the way you felt the shaking right?" She nodded and he hummed before looking at the same tower Sonia had been. "Seems Chairman Rose is testing something again."
"This is bad!," Sonia insisted to him, "Pokemon might start dynamaxing right in the middle of Hammerlocke!"
"Is that so?," he asked looking back to her and she nodded immediately, "I can make sure the Chairman knows."
"You'll just get lost, Leon. I'm coming too."
"Hey. I'm not THAT bad with directions, Sonia. I only ended up on top of a barn once!"
"I'm comin' too!," Gloria piped up determined hands returning to her sides. But that melted away quickly when Leon shook his head no.
"Sorry, Glory," he apologised genuinely and rested a hand on her shoulder," But it'd be too dangerous for someone your age to be wondering about a power plant of all things. Especially since there's lots of research and development happening in there that could end up going south at a moment's notice. Don't worry about a thing and just let me take care of it. Ok?"
She opened her mouth to protest. "He's right." But blinked at you as you frowned worried. "I think with everything that's already happened in the past month, it'd be better to just let the literal pokemon champion and a scientist handle whatever's going on."
She blinked between the two of you for a moment before sighing. "Oh alright."
"So you should leave the investigation on the quaking to the adults," Sonia agreed, "In the mean time why don't you head to Circhester and get that badge? I'm really looking forward to seeing you compete in the finals."
Again Gloria nodded before turning to Leon with a slightly worried expression. "Hey. You're gonna be careful right?"
He smiled brightly in a reassuring way to her. "Of course! I'm always careful!"
"Except with directions." Sonia sighed before beginning to walk away.
"HEY! I'm always careful with directions," he insisted walking after her, "Since when am I not?"
"Says the one who got stranded on top of a barn and fell into the ocean multiple times when going to Hulbury."
"Oh my Arceus. It was just one time!"
You chuckled before shaking your head..but paused noticing Gloria wasn't doing anything but staring after them. She flinched when you put a hand on her shoulder. "Hey. Are you alright there?"
After a moment of silence she sighed and nodded before turning back towards the train station. "Yeah. Jus' a lil bit worried is all. Lee can get inta trouble if he ends up lost sometimes." And she began walking. "C'mon. Let's go get somethin' to eat. Ok?''
You blinked at her sad-ish tone but didn't push any further when you started walking behind her towards the train station by the flight of stairs leading to the Hammerlocke school where you two had encountered Paula. Sending a small shiver down your spine as you passed. Eventually you both reached the inside of the train station where you two found exactly what you were looking for. Within the train station was two men and a woman behind stands who looked like they either sold tickets or pamplets, a lot of seats, the exit for entering/exiting the train, some ATM things, vending machines, and to the very left near the entrance when you two came in was the small cafe area with it's own designated seating. A man was already seated at one table looking at what you supposed was a menu, and two very recognizable teenage boys were sat at another talking....HOP AND VICTOR!? Seriously what was the odds of running into so many people today? You tapped Gloria's shoulder to get her attention but Hop beat you too it because as soon as he looked up he smiled and waved his full arm at her.
"Oh! Gloria!," He shouted at her. Like a dog to food her head snapped to him faster than lightning before the brightest smile ever lit up onto her face as Victor turned around in his seat to look at the both of you.
"HOP! Victor!," She cried out before rushing towards them with you trailing behind with your pokemon in tow. "I haven't seen ya in days!"
"Well we- Ah!" Poor Hop was nearly knocked to the floor when Gloria practically tackled him in a hug (again-) and had to wave his arms to regain balance before leaning forward luckily not falling over. "W-We just got here on the afternoon train! Glory! You're crushin' me again!"
"After noon?", you asked before looking up towards the clock on the wall surprised when you saw it read 12: 24 in the afternoon. "Huh. I didn't think we'd get here that late in the day." You then turned back to Victor. "You guys just got back here? We didn't see you at the gyms we stopped by."
Victor shrugged back at you. "We went straight to Bellonlea after Hop won against Bea," He explained, "Then we traveled a bit so Hop could practice his battling skills before we decided to head to Circhester. Hammerlocke was just a stop before we reached there so we stopped here to restock for the weather they have up there. ...And I wanted to stop by to see the Hammerlocke castle ruins on Route Eight. Legends say that they might even be the remains of the very first castle built in Galar."
"Oh. So how was Bellonlea for you two?"
Hop sighed, having freed himself from his best friend's crushing hug, slumping his shoulders. "First that forest then that mad quiz. I've been lost in every sense of the word...But it looks like I finally caught up to you again."
"Does that mean you didn't get the badge?"
He chuckled. "Took me one heck of a try but I managed somehow to get it from her." He turned back to Gloria. "Speaking of which. Come with me to Route Seven real quick.I could use a bit of competition to motivate me for the next leg of our adventure!"
Gloria blinked. "....Our adventure as in yours and Victor's next stop?"
Hop blinked at her a moment before reaching to scratch the back of his neck and looked away. "W-Well...I uh....I've been having a lot of time to think, and i-it would be nice for you to join us again this time....AH! A-And Y/n too of course!" He was quick to add holding up his hands and a slight pink hue coming over his face. "Of course I enjoy her company too! I-It's not the same without y-you both!" Smooth, Hop. Very smooth.
But it seemed like just like with Bede, Hop's flustered state flew right over her head as her eyes lit up as she quickly agreed. "Are ya kiddin' me!? OF COURSE YES!! I missed travelin' with you guys!" She pointed to the door making Victor duck to avoid getting hit in the head. "C'mon let's go see 'bout that battle!"
"Hang on a second!," Victor interjected with a frown, "What about lunch? Hop, y'know we need to stop by the clothes store and get warmer clothes!"
"..I-...Y-Yeah. But we're staying an extra one or two days so you can see those ruins anyways, so we still have time for a battle and food and shopping..and all that stuff."
......With a sigh Victor sat back down in the seat and picked up his menu again. "Fine. But make it quick. I would like us to get supplies before the end of today. The sooner we're all stocked up the sooner we can see the ruins and head off to Circhester."
Gloria was already tugging him out the door as Hop waved him off. "We'll be right back! Don't worry!"
"That's when I worry the most," he mumbled.
You chuckled before going to sit in one of the chairs across from him, Drizzilie hoping onto your lap of course before settling down and letting you wrap an arm around it's upper torso to hold it. "Well, you two certainly looked like you had an exciting time while we were gone."
"Yeah I guess you could say that. ..Hey. Let's just order something for the two of us while we wait." Your Drizzilie gave a thrum. "Uh...Three of us. The three of us order."
"Are you sure? I don't mind waiting for the other two."
"Nah. I'm hungry, and we'll still be here when they come back."
"Well...Alright then.''
You two went ahead and ordered, not really surprising it was more curries, and it wasn't too long before the three plates were set down in front of you three all different. Your drizzilie immediately went to grab at it's saled curry you had ordered for it, but Victor stopped it before pulling out his own camera.
"Wait a minute. Lemme get a shot of these first," he said holding the camera up to his face.
"You're doing that curry dex thing too?," you asked holding your Drizzilie's protesting hands as it pouted being denied it's food even for a moment.
"Nah. I've just been collecting more pictures of curries and pokemon for Glory since she needs them. Plus I like taking pictures anyways, so it's not a big deal."
"Aw. That's really nice of you."
He was quick to take a few pictures of the curries and you released your pokemon's hands. Drizzilie was quick to grab it's own food and begin scarfing it down much to your amusement as you two yourselves dug in. You were happy that it wasn't another bland tasting granola bar thing or dried fruit snack made for traveling. And it wasn't too long when you were into your food that the two had returned and taken seats next to the two of you as well.
"Hey you two," you greeted, "Welcome back. How was the battle?"
Hop was absolutely beaming and Gloria sighed but not in a sad way before saying, "I lost. Hop really has gotten stronger!"
"Hey, congrats!," you smiled at Hop, "I told you you could do it!"
"Hehe. Thanks," he smiled bashfully before pointing towards the food, "Looks like we're just in time to order ourselves huh? Great! We can catch up with everything that happened then!"
Gloria chuckled. "Well then better get a big curry n' some popcorn! Cuz I gotta lot to tell the both 'o ye!"
"Oh boy. Here we go."
You should've expected the shocked faces that they all gave when Gloria between eating her curry(after taking pictures of them of course-) told them everything. And I do mean EVERYTHING. From helping the lad find an applin for his crush, to the strange MAYBE ghost girl that had you all deliver a letter to Mr. Frank, to the weird guy in Bellonlea who thought he was a pokemon, to how you both met Allister, to her gym battles, and of course everything the two of you went through in Stow-on-Side after they left. The two boys looked more shocked than they would've been if you had suddenly disappeared before their very eyes back the way you came and magically ended up back home. You just simply ate letting Gloria ramble on and on and tried to keep your drizzilie was getting food everywhere. You swore it was like trying to feed a toddler in your lap. Eventually sometime between all of this Hop finally spoke with a scowl pointing at everyone.
"I KNEW it! I knew that bloke was up to no good! And look at what happened!"
"Hop, calm down," you insisted holding up a hand, "To be honest I think he only did it because he was pressured by someone and did what he thought was going to help. I don't know why he thought there would be wishing stars under the mural, but he was right about there being something under there. ...And I really don't want to just talk badly of him since he already paid for what he did." You did feel bad for him but in the back of your mind you knew he'd be fine and get back on the right path now. "...But I think Victor said something about stopping by a clothes store. What for?"
"You'll need some too, Y/n," Victor said, "If you don't wanna freeze your leg off that is. Circhester and it's gyms are located in the mountains where it's always cold and snowy. If we're heading there we'll all need to stock up on food for the long trip too since they're the farthest gyms from here."
"Oh. Well I say we finish up here so we can get started then. I don't know how when the stores around here close."
The rest of the stay in Hammerlocke wasn't very eventful thankfully. After the lot of you had finished eating and paid, you left and you followed them all to the clothing store that Hammerlocke had. You weren't expecting them to actually be selling winter clothes but low and behold they were selling them amongst the regular summer shirts and shorts. All of your pants and shirts was pretty long and warm anyways so you only felt the need to find a plain coat and gloves as the others took their time browsing around and tried on various other winter type clothing. But you did find one thing you liked. A small child's sweater that doubled as a hoodie with the hood attached to it. You looked between it and the Drizzilie before taking it and after wrangling your pokemon lightly, slipped it over his head and popped his arms gently through the sleeves. Drizzilie gave a couple chirps in protest and confusion as he was slipped into the sweater-hoodie...before blinking and pulling out the hem of it to look over it. ..And looked at you with a strange look.
"Hey. If you're not going to stay in your pokeball then you're going to need something to keep you warm too."
You were pretty sure a water pokemon without any feathers or fur to cover him wouldn't fair too well in the cold weather. By the time you all paid for the small pile of winter clothes for the five of you and left the store, the sun was close to setting and with your low food supplies without there being any supply stores in Hammerlocke Victor was clever enough to come up with a better idea. Leading the confused group back to the train station, he walked on over to the vending machines in the corner of the room and considering everything in them was already made to last a long time they'd do until you all found another store with better surprises. Sounded good to you...Or it would've been if Gloria hadn't had the bright idea to use her Rotom pokemon. You couldn't believe it but the rotom pokemon actually transferred itself from the phone into one of the machines and one after another cans of soda, chips, instant noodle things, candy bars, and other snack like foods tumbled down one after the other with the lot of you eagerly grabbing at it. When you pointed out wasn't this technically stealing, Gloria assured you the rotom would be using money coming from her Gym Challenger account to pay for this all. Oh...Well you kinda guessed she'd have one of those to be paid after battles and all. By the end of one vending machine being cleaned out Victor mentioned once it was divided between the four of you it SHOULD be enough to at least last you all the trip up to Circhester. That was good to hear. By the time the four of you were finished with your shopping spree, sun set had finally taken a hold of the town and Hop suggested now would probably be a good time to set up came outside Hammerlocke and rest up to take a visit to the ruins Victor wanted to visit the next day. As much as you'd like to go to Circhester right away it was unanimous that the next day you'd be spending your entire day at the ruins.
That night you slept pretty well and by the time you woke up the next day Victor had already cooked everyone breakfast early. By the smile on his face, you'd say he was pretty excited to spend the day at the ruins. After eating breakfast and packing everything up, the four of you made your way down Route Eight. The castle ruins weren't too far down the road from Hammerlocke, just maybe an hour or two's walk. There was some blocked off areas by rope blocking access to some of the more brittle or dangerous areas of the place. And you did enjoy yourself while you looked around too. There was a couple pokemon you hadn't seen while you were traveling before and both twins seemed to get a kick out of taking pictures of either the ruins or the pokemon hiding within them, as you all walked around along with a few other people who seemed to be looking at them as well. The only ones who really seemed bored just standing around and looking at the ruins was your Drizzilie still wearing the sweater hoodie thing you had gotten him yesterday as he grumbled and walked along after you. The ruins were pretty big and decently had a lot to look at so it was no wonder the four of you spent nearly all morning and half the afternoon there looking at it all before Hop suggested heading back towards Hammerlocke in hopes of catching the night train out of town. Sounded good to everyone..Huh. You wondered if Sonia had studied the ruins here for more clues too? It wasn't too late when the group got back to Hammerlocke, maybe three or four o' clock in the afternoon at the lastest, but definately late enough to have missed the evening train out. Of course Hop and Gloria having to show their badges to the man standing guard at the entrance in order to be let in but it wasn't too much of a hassle for you five to head on in and back to the train station. In the entire time you were back here in Hammerlocke you hadn't seen Raihan again even once. You guessed he must've been traveling again or just not here at the moment. Fine by you. You all had a few hours to kill until the night train showed up sometime around eight o' clock. In the next few hours you all busied yourselves by having dinner courtesy of the guys and Victor giving a very happy glory all the pictures he had taken over the days they were seperated. A LOT of curry (when did they eat so much of that stuff-) and pokemon she was delighted to have and then secure into her books along with the newest pictures she took with help from Hop sorting them out and helping to place them within the labeled pages. Which took up most of the rest of the time it took you four to wait for the night train because it took you all by surprise when the sounds of rumbling tracks and a train horn made you all look up as a shiny subway like train pulled up into the station.
"Ah magikarp!," Gloria shouted before dropping her fork and then scrambling to pick up her thing played on the table. "Hop! Help me stuff these things back inta me bag!!"
Hop blinked but immediately did as his friend asked as he too scrambled to grab any leftover pictures and the two books to throw them back in her bag as Victor quickly dug into his pockets for something. Luckily you didn't have the need to pick anything up or collect anything other than the drizzilie sitting in your lap that you scooped up into your arms when the others scrambled to get up, and Victor tossed what looked like a two dollar tip on the table for whoever had to come collect the dishes. The horn blasting again for any passengers who wished to leave Hammerlocke, which you four sure did heading towards it. Looks like you all would be heading to Circhester and hopefully Gloria's next badge on the way.

Present
A few days had passed since your latest argument with the prince and you still had no idea why he had reacted so hostile when you had asked him about your dream and the things you had seen. You had tried to talk to him a few more times, mostly because you wanted to apologize for snapping at him but since that morning, Bede avoided you like the plague and purposely looked away whenever you tried to make eye contact with him. And although he acted like nothing had happened when Gloria and Hop were around, you had noticed the sadness in his eyes that he didn’t bother to hide when he thought that nobody was paying attention to him.
You were pretty sure that it had nothing to do with the things you had said to him but still, you could feel your guilty conscience gnawing at you every time you thought about it. Given the fact that you couldn’t stand him, you really hadn’t expected to feel bad about your argument with the prince, at least not for such a long time. Maybe it was because you couldn’t stand conflicts in general, or maybe you were slowly starting to have a thing for him. At least, that surely would’ve been Gloria’s guess if you had bothered to tell her about your twisted feelings since she still firmly believed that you and Bede had to be soulmates, according to the legend that had surrounded the statue. Only a few days ago, she had suggested that you should spend more time with him and try to get to know him better. “After all, you could be meant for each other,” she had said, earning an annoyed glance from you. “You know exactly that’s not true. It’s just a stupid fairytale, nothing more.”
With a quiet sigh, you shook your head, casting aside the memories and trying to focus on the book in front of you. You were currently sitting in Wyndon’s library, an old and dignified building that was equipped with countless books, journals and even actual historical documents from various eras, such as diaries, letters and manifestos. In the beginning, you had been confident that it wouldn’t take too long to find something regarding the prince and his obscure fate but it had only taken about an hour until you started to feel overwhelmed by the amount of information the library offered.
On your desk, there was a pile of books about the history of Galar and a collection of articles about the prohibition of magic and the consequential witch-hunt, referred to as the Great Hunt, which hadn’t been very useful since they never mentioned the crown prince at all and mostly focused on King Lewin’s orders and the methods the Royal Court of Inquisition had used to track down the sorcerers and their families. Nobody had included Bede and his sister into their research, probably because they hadn’t been involved in any of this and while you hadn’t expected to find something about the curse in these essays, you couldn’t help but feel a bit discouraged.
Everything would be a whole lot easier if Bede didn’t refuse to talk to you. He obviously knew very well who the woman you had seen in your dream was but for some reason, he tried hard to keep everything about his past a secret.
Absent-mindedly chewing on the top of your pencil, you stared out of the window as you tried to gather every bit of information you currently had about the prince. The result was quite disillusioning you knew almost nothing about him, his name, status and family relationships aside. In the exhibition, you had learned that he had been close to his sister and that his parents, particularly his father, had put enormous pressure on him but other than that, you were clueless when it came to him. You had no idea who he truly was, what he thought about the king’s hatred towards the sorcerers or why someone had hated him so much that they ended up cursing him.
Well. If he had always been this arrogant and presumptuous young man he was now, you really couldn’t hold the malediction against the unknown person who had cast it all these years ago… although a part of you had to admit that it seemed a bit harsh to trap someone in stone for so long, just for being an arrogant idiot.
No, you were absolutely sure that there had to be more to it. You just needed more information to figure out what it was.
You grabbed another history book, quickly scanning the table of contents before putting it aside because it covered the aftermath of the Great Hunt and therefore the wrong era. Same with the next two books, although the latter at least recommended some other works about the Great Hunt and the royal family’s involvement. After writing down the title, you turned your attention back to the pile of books in front of you. Surely it would be more effective to work through them first before looking for new stuff to read.
Over the next hour, you found an essay about the upbringing of Bede and Carlina which only contained information you had already gotten from the exhibition, a copy of the royal family’s genealogy that only traced back as far as Bede’s paternal grandparents and another essay that described the events of the Great Hunt without going into detail about the origin of the King’s hatred towards sorcerers and their magic. The author actually had pointed out that it was almost impossible to find reliable sources regarding King Lewin’s personal motives and therefore historians could only speculate about it, but most people assumed that he probably experienced something terrible that led to his disdain, especially since the previous king, Lewin’s father, never had an issue with the use of magic.
You had started chewing on your lower lip, like you often did when you were musing about something, while you stared at the essay and the notes you had taken. Something about the whole issue felt off, although you couldn’t quite put your finger on it. It was strange that no one knew exactly why the king had started to persecute the sorcerers since there was a lot of source material for considerably less important stuff, for example the average earnings of Carlina’s chambermaid or how often Queen Alviva would see the court physician because she allegedly suffered from migraines.
If you didn’t know better, you would have assumed that someone, most likely the king himself, had made sure that every bit of information which could paint him and his actions in a bad light was kept under lock and key, even after his death.
You grimaced at the book in front of you. After everything you had learned about him and the way he treated others, it wouldn’t even surprise you if this was actually true. And it probably was true, given the fact that there was not one essay that told the story from the sorcerers’ side.
It hadn’t even occurred to you that the few articles you had found about the Great Hunt had purely focused on King Lewin and the orders and actions he had taken to hunt down the sorcerers. But now it was clear as daylight that there was next to no information about his enemies and how they had reacted to the threat.
To say that it made everything even more suspicious, would be an understatement. Clearly, the king had tried to hide something but you had no idea what. And in the end, it probably didn’t even matter because it wasn’t linked to Bede and the curse, so it wouldn’t get you anywhere if you –
You started up from your musing before you could finish the thought. Your gaze flickered from your notes to the book, then back to the big question mark you had drawn behind Bede’s name, and you could feel a sudden agitation buzzing through your body.
Maybe it was indeed linked to Bede and everything he had experienced. It seemed quite a stretch and you doubted that his son’s fate was the only reason for the king to cover up the sorcerers’ actions but perhaps they had been the ones who cursed him. It made sense, also in the context of your dream, assuming that the unknown woman had been a sorceress. She had undoubtedly threatened Bede, and –
You abruptly reached for your pencil and began to scribble your thoughts down. Most of your notes probably weren’t going to make sense in the future but you needed to write your thought process down to make sure that you weren’t forgetting any details which could be important later on.
Okay, so, assuming that the woman in your dream had been the one who cursed Bede, it was likely that she had done so to take revenge on his family, or better, his father, the king. Maybe she had lost someone dear during the Great Hunt and wanted to teach Lewin a lesson about the grief she felt. Or perhaps, she simply had tried to put an end to the violence against her people and had used Bede as some kind of leverage to get her will.
You paused to think for a moment. Weren’t you reading too much into a simple dream? There was no evidence that the things you had seen were actually real; you didn’t know if you really had caught a glimpse of the past or if your mind was just trying to play tricks on you after reading a few things about Bede and his family at the exhibition. It was possible that you were well on the way to obsess about the whole situation.
No. Deep down, you knew that everything you had seen in your dream was real, although you couldn’t really say why. You simply knew it.
Or maybe you were slowly starting to go crazy.
*
He wasn’t sure why he had decided to go back to the park where it all had started. It was strange to see the place where he had been trapped in stone for nearly three centuries; the place where hundreds of people had tried to lift the spell from him, according to Gloria who had told him a few stories surrounding the statue. Surrounding him.
It wasn’t just strange. It felt preposterous to know that he had been right here for all this time while his family continued to live their lives, while the world around him changed over and over again while he remained frozen in time. Maybe it was so hard to understand because he simply couldn’t remember anything after Brigid had cursed him. Contrary to popular beliefs, Bede hadn’t been conscious; he hadn’t noticed anything that was going on around him. After Brigid had cast the spell, a dark, deep silence had embraced him – and then, there had been nothing.
Until he had stumbled right into your arms that day.
Bede was convinced that Brigid never intended her curse to have a loophole; she was way too determined to wreak revenge on his family to make a mistake like that, and yet, here he was, as fresh as a daisy and completely unharmed. Not that he was mad about it, no, he was grateful to be alive and everything but… there was something about this whole story that didn’t quite match up. And he would be lying if he said that it didn’t worry him.
With a quiet sigh, he rested his elbows on his knees, propping up his head on his hands as he continued to watch the few tourists that were wandering around the park. Nobody took notice of him but that was completely alright with him. Back in the day, he had never been able to roam freely outside the walls of the palace. He had always been accompanied by his personal guards which made it easy for everyone to recognize who he was, and while he understood that it was necessary to bring the guards, he had sometimes wished to have more freedom. Being raised as the crown prince of Galar had always been a heavy burden, especially since he could never satisfy his father’s expectations, no matter how hard he tried.
From this point of view, his life was better now. He was free to make his own decisions, he didn’t have to justify himself to his father anymore and could go wherever he wanted to go. He was no longer a prince; he was just a normal young man. He was just Bede.
On the other hand, just the mere thought seemed frightening. For all of his life, Bede had always known what others expected of him and where his place was. Making decisions had never been an option before. Heck, back then, he hadn’t even been allowed to choose the color of the fabrics the tailors used for his clothes, and now he had to decide what he wanted to do with the rest of his life? Impossible.
And, all advantages of a fresh start aside, none of this changed the fact that he was alone. There was no one in this world who cared about him, and most people didn’t even know who he truly was, although they had been so obsessed with the statue over the years. And everyone he had known before was dead.
Bede hadn’t expected the thought would still hurt so much. It wasn’t the first time that it occurred to him that his parents and his beloved sister had died long ago but until now, he had never allowed himself to give in to the sadness that threatened to overwhelm him every time. But now he didn’t bother to fight back the tears that were welling up in his eyes. Given the fact that you and the others weren’t here to judge him, there really was no need to hide his emotions, and before he even realized that he was crying, the tears were already streaming down his cheeks.
He turned away from the spot the statue had stood, pressing his lips together to stifle the sobs that wanted to escape his throat and clenched his fists while he tried to regain his composure. But the tears kept on flowing.
Everyone that had ever meant someone to him was dead. Carlina was dead. He would never see her again, hear her voice or laugh about the stupid jokes she had always made to cheer him up on a bad day. He couldn’t even remember the last thing he had said to her or the last time he had told her how much he loved her. Shouldn’t he be able to remember these things?
Why couldn’t he remember?
The answer was simple. Bede hadn’t known that it would be the last time and therefore, he hadn’t cherished his final moments with his sister enough. And now, all that remained was an excruciating grief that made him feel like he couldn’t breathe.
How was he supposed to live without his sister? After all, she had always been the person he had trusted the most, the one he could rely on without a doubt, and knowing that she wasn’t here with him – that she would never be here with him – hurt like nothing else. No one would ever be able to replace her, not even – particularly not – you; the one who allegedly was his soulmate if he would be willing to believe in the tales Gloria had told him. It would be a mockery if it was actually true (not that he thought that it was), given the fact that he could barely look at you without thinking back to the worst moments of his life… the moments that had changed his whole world forever.
In some way, it almost seemed to be an irony of fate that you of all people had lifted the spell from him. You who looked so much like the woman who had cursed him in the first place.
He had noticed the resemblance right away. Of course, you didn’t look exactly like Brigid but there was something about your features and the color of your eyes that reminded him of her. Even the way you looked at him resembled her, your eyes always filled with so much disdain and anger, just like hers.
At first, Bede had thought that he was imagining things, that his subconsciousness tried to come to terms with the things that had happened by projecting it into this new reality but now, he wasn’t so sure anymore. There had to be a reason behind it. After all, you had managed to break a curse that never should have been broken in the first place, incredible as it was.
He wiped the tears from his face and took a deep breath, carefully locking up his emotions again.
Maybe it was time to stop running away from his past. If he wanted to figure out what was going on, if he really wanted to understand why the spell had been lifted, there was only one person who could help him, as much as he hated to admit it. And that person was you.

Girl Crush (XXVI)
Chapter 26: Poppy Dream
Here we go with a new chapter!! I hope you like it!! Not gonna lie… there's a tid bit of angst in that one… I hope you don't hate me too much by the end of it though (better hope so cause it will get worse…)
I am also coming close to the end now… I reckon that I have… 5, maybe 6 chapters left, something like that. Thank you to all of you who have stayed throughout the whole thing!
WARNING for mentions of soft drugs in this chapter (Harry took mushrooms when he wrote fine line, apparently, and I used this idea here, but there is no mention of addiction or anything shocking. He’s just being an idiot, as usual.)
Word Count: 3745
Living with Gareth was great.
Lots of cuddles, and him being sweet and stealing kisses. He cooked almost every day, and you had a nice system of chores that kept both of you equally busy with the nasty tasks to do. It was smooth, and easy. It felt safe.
A little boring, you had to admit. It wasn't... exciting. You were happy to find him home when you walked inside the apartment you shared, but you didn't want to just rush to him either. You weren't eager to leave work to join him. Why not though? He was great...
After almost two months of living together, you would have expected to be more ecstatic at the idea of living with him. You blamed the fact that you had spent so many years living on your own, and it felt strange to share your daily life with someone now. You knew that it wasn't the only reason though.
But overall, you were happy, and it was nice to have him around. Your only real problem with your new home was that Harry didn't drop by unannounced anymore. He used to do it all the time before. If you were free for an evening and he knew so? You were certain that he would be on your doorstep with some take-out and a bottle of wine before 9pm.
You understood, of course. He was coming to spend time with you, not both you and Gareth, and things were different now that you didn't live alone anymore. You also reckoned that it would be a little like intruding, from his end. It didn't change the fact that you missed those evenings with him like crazy.
Which was why you were now standing on his doorstep, a bag full of Chinese food in your hand right after you had knocked a couple of times. He opened the door, looking dishevelled and wrapped in comfy clothes that made you want to snuggle into his side and stay there, tugged into his chest, for the rest of the night...
…or maybe forever.
"Y/N?" he asked with a frown, and a little bit of panic shining in his green eyes. "You're alright? What are you doing here?"
You shrugged in response.
"I'm fine. Just thought I'd drop by."
"Did you and Gareth have a fight?"
"No. I'm fine. I just wanted to spend some time with you. I brought Chinese!"
"Oh... huh..."
"H? Who is it?
Before you could process what was happening, a woman was appearing in the doorway. She was wearing one of Harry's jumpers. You noticed that it wasn't one of those you used when you came to his house though. It seemed like a new TPWK sweater.
"Hi..." she faked a smile, coming closer and placing a hand on Harry's arm, as if to show who he belonged to. "Sorry, you are...?"
You finally shook yourself, and offered her your open hand and a bright smile.
"Hi! I'm Y/N. I'm Harry's friend. Sorry to interrupt, I didn't know he had company, and I was passing by, so I thought I'd drop by. But... you're clearly occupied so... I'll leave you to it. Behave, huh?" You added jokingly, waving your finger at Harry.
"I see... I'm Gloria," she shook your hand, but her smile was toxic to say the least. "A friend... I see... you often drop by?"
"I wouldn't say often but..." you offered her another smile, and cleared the air before any misconception could be settled, and Harry would get to argue with his new girlfriend because of a quid pro quo. "Since I've moved in with my boyfriend a couple of months ago, I and Harry haven't spent much time together, so..."
Gloria seemed to immediately relax, and her next smile was earnest.
"Oh, I see! You want to come in then? I'd love to know more about you! I'm sure you can tell me so many stories about H!"
But Harry gave you the smallest shake of his head, and you got the message loud and clear.
"No, no, no! I'm not gonna intrude. Let's plan a dinner or something like that instead! That will be much better. Good night then, lovebirds!"
"Good night, Y/N! It was nice meeting you!"
You gave the couple a little wave, and turned to walk back to your car, when Harry's voice stopped you in your tracks.
"Y/N?"
You turned around, unable to resist his call.
He seemed a little out of breath, you noticed. A little sad too. Maybe even a little disappointed or tortured. As if he tried to resist the urge to do something.
You couldn't know that he was resisting his urge to send Gloria away, and close the distance between you and him in a rush and kiss you under the lamppost before his house. He wondered what you tasted like... he wondered so more and more often these days, and his longing for you seemed more and more difficult to control.
He did resist though. Instead, he looked at you with desperate eyes.
"Still renovating your shop on Sunday?"
You offered him a smile, but he could have sworn it wasn't an earnest one. He could read sadness in your eyes as they shone under the yellowish streetlights.
"Sure! If you can spare the time."
"For you? Always."
"Well then... I guess... see you on Sunday!"
He nodded, unable to look away.
"See you on Sunday."
I love you was on the tip of his tongue once more, but he bit his cheek instead, until the pain made the words disappear.
You climbed in your car, aware of Harry's presence still on his doorstep. You drove off without a look back at him. You knew he was looking at you as you drove down the street, and you didn't find in you the strength to see him like this: walking further from his door and into the street so he could keep on looking at your car, in his old black jumper and his hair held into a tiny bump on the top of his head with one of the elastic bands you had forgotten long ago in his bathroom, his arms crossed before his chest, until you disappeared for good around the corner.
A couple of streets away though, you pulled over, and threw your food in a bin. You felt sick now, instead of hungry.
You climbed back into your car, resting your hands on the wheel and your head against the back of your seat. Up above, stars glimmered above L.A, undying fireflies that came back to haunt the same pieces of the sky every night. The nearby lamppost shed yellow hues in your vehicle, bathing your hands in the electric light.
It could have been a nice night, you reckoned. If only...
You didn't react when your phone let out a whistling sound. You didn't need to check the screen to know it was Harry. He would be asking something along the lines of:
Hey! Let me know when you're home, please? It's quite late already. Just want to make sure you're home safe. See you Sunday. H x
Because he was the kind of idiot who always signed his texts, and you were the kind of moron who secretly found it cute although you acted like it was annoying. And he was the kind of idiot who always worried about you when you drove at night, even if it wasn't that late yet. He just... always asked for you to reassure him that you were safe. And he was the kind of idiot who played it cool and blamed your lack of skills behind a wheel to hide the fact that he simply was always worried about you. And you were the kind of moron who still believed his lies about it.
And he was the kind of idiot who tried to forget his love for you in the arms of someone else. And you were the kind of moron who chose to push away the real reason for why you were on the verge of tears now as you sat motionless in your car, in the empty Californian street at 9pm. It was easier to blame it on how tired you were these days, than admit that your life was not getting in the direction you wanted it to go, and that every day you wished you wouldn't walk even further away from what you truly wanted...
... or rather whom.
"Wait! What do you mean you're at the HOSPITAL?!"
"Can you like… not shout?"
You took a couple of very deep breaths, trying to calm down, but so far doing a terrible job at it.
"Mitch, can you please tell me again where you are and why? Please?" you asked in a lower voice, although your voice was everything but calm.
"We're at the ER, Harry bit off his tongue."
"HOW…?!"
You took another deep breath, noticing the people in the grocery store looking at you.
"How on Earth did he bit his tongue hard enough for you to need to go to the ER?" you asked, your voice shaky.
"We were high. He jumped off the window."
"High?"
"Yeah… mushrooms."
You heaved a tired sigh, burying your face in your hand. You knew that Harry had been 'experimenting' - as he liked to call it – while writing his new album. He said it helped him get out of his own head, relieve the pressure. You reckoned that as long as he was taking drugs because he wanted to escape reality, or as long as he didn't get a sense of need for it, then it was quite unharmful.
At least, you thought so.
"Could you come and pick us up? Sarah's not answering her phone, and I can't drive."
"How did you get there?"
"I called an ambulance. He was bleeding like crazy!"
"Are you high too?"
"A little. Less than him though. Still, can't drive."
"I'm coming. Don't move."
"Thank you, Y/N!"
"Don't thank me yet, I'm about to kick both of your arses!"
You hung up the phone before Mitch could add anything, and hurried to set back the few items you had gathered in your bag before you rushed to your car.
You sent a text to Gareth warning him about the incident and telling him that you couldn't get the groceries and were driving to the hospital instead, before you turned on the engines and drove out of the parking lot.
Your phone rang a few minutes later, and you talked on speaker with your boyfriend.
"Hey! I just got your text… is everybody alright?"
"Hmmm… I don't know for sure, I'm going to the hospital now."
"Do you need me to come too?"
"No, don't bother. You're busy working. I'll handle it."
"I hope it's nothing too serious. How did he manage to hurt his tongue so badly?"
"I'll tell you later. I've got to kick his butt first."
"Go easy on him. The poor guy…"
"You're right, it must hurt a lot," you calmed down instantly, and now instead of anger, you wanted to reach the hospital as fast as possible out of worry.
"I'm sure he'll be fine. Call me if you need anything."
"Thank you. See you tonight."
"Love you!"
"Love you too."
Soon enough you were rushing inside the hospital, looking for your two friends. And you found them with ease, as they were waiting for you, sitting on hospital chairs with Harry's head resting on Mitch's shoulder.
The guitarist gave you a little wave and a relieved smile.
"Thank God you're here…"
"Are you alright?"
"Me? Yeah… him… He needs a nap."
As if on cue, Harry seemed to finally notice that you were here, and he shot you a toothy grin.
"Y/N! I 'appy 'o 'ee you!" he mumbled, unable to articulate his words properly.
"They numbed his tongue," Mitch explained. "And he's still high."
"Is it serious?" you asked with worry in your voice as you bent down to examine Harry's face.
"Nah… he'll be fine. Got it all patched up. He'll be fine in a few days. He did lose a bit of his tongue though!"
You smacked Harry's arm, and he frowned, looking at you with angry eyes and an adorable pout while he rubbed his arm.
"Wha' was 'at for?"
"What was that for? You lost a piece of your tongue, you moron!"
"Don' call me 'at…" his pout grew sadder, an effect of the drugs, really, he was always sleepy and all cuddly when he was drunk or high.
"I was so worried about you!"
A smirk slowly formed on his lips.
"You 'ere 'orried abou' me?"
"Of course, I was worried! I still am! And I'm gonna kick your butt for being so stupid!"
"I 'ave a pre'y bu'…" he smirked.
"Yes, well, your pretty butt is gonna be in trouble! Now come on, let's get you home."
You dropped Mitch at the studio first, where he would wait for Sarah to take him home. You helped Harry in his house next, making sure he wouldn't fall, as his head was still cloudy. He was slowly doing better though, and his words became clearer by the minute, although his painful tongue still made him wince when he hit his tongue against his teeth.
"'ank you for picking me up," he said, falling on his bed.
"I'm gonna get you some water, okay?"
You helped him out of his jumper, as he seemed tangled in his sleeves before heading downstairs and coming back with a glass of cold water.
"'ank you," he breathed in a baby voice, holding the glass in both his hands as he rested his back against the headboard.
You shook your head looking at him. You had to admit that he looked adorable like this, a little lost maybe. Soft and fragile and you could read through his body language that he longed for some cuddles.
And you thought about crawling in bed by his side, to let him rest his hedd against your shoulder, but then you remembered that he wasn't single either anymore. So, you reached for your phone instead.
"You want me to call Gloria for you? What's her number?"
"Who?"
"Gloria. You're girlfriend?"
He huffed, shaking his head.
"She ain' my girlfriend. I don' see her anymore."
"Oh… I'm sorry to hear that. What happened?"
He shrugged, his pout back on his face.
"I didn' like her 'at much."
"I see…"
"I don' wan' 'o be alone," he admitted in a whisper, resting his head against the headboard, his glass still in his hands resting on his stomach, while he stared at you with pleading eyes that truly meant to say please, stay.
You heaved a sigh, taking off your shoes and climbing in the bed by his side. He gave you a grin in response.
"Alright… but just a few minutes. Then, I have to go home."
"Bu' I'm hur'…"
"Because you were being a moron. Next time, don't count on me to come pick you up at the hospital because you broke a limb because you were high!"
He stared at you with one of these intense glances he threw at you every time he listened to you really intently, and it was always a bit too much for you to handle.
"I don' like i' when you're mad a' me…" he whispered truthfully, a sad expression on his face now.
You heaved a sigh, defeated already. You took away his empty glass, placing it on the bedside table on your side of the bed, and opened your arms for him. He didn't need you to speak out loud to rush into your embrace, burying his face into your neck.
"I'm not mad," you reassured him. "I just… I don't like it when you're hurt. It makes me all worried."
He hummed, nodding.
"I'm always worried abou' you 'oo you know?"
"I know."
"I ge' real worried when you don' call for more 'an a day," he went on, rambling, and you were certain that he wouldn't have said any of these words out loud, had he been sobber. "I make all 'ese scenarios in my head… and I miss you."
"Well, I'm here now."
He snuggled closer to you, nodding his head. His arms were around you now, holding you against him as if he were afraid you'd change your mind and walk away at any second now.
"I'm always worried abou' you. I really need you, you know?"
He rubbed his cheek in your neck, and you were certain that your heart was about to implode.
"I like i' when you hold me," he went on. "Feels warm. Feels safe. Feels really safe in your arms."
You dropped a kiss in his hair, and you could have sworn he had shivered at the contact.
"You are safe. You're safe with me, Harry."
"Don' leave me. Ever."
"I'm not gonna leave you, Harry."
He heaved a content sigh, before breathing in deeply your scent, your perfume and your shampoo intertwined to better blur his senses. When he spoke again, it was barely a whisper, and you weren't sure what he meant, but it sounded like something dangerous.
"God… I write too many songs abou' you, Y/N. I'm so sorry. I really 'ried bu' I can' help i'… Ain' my fault if you're always there."
Put a price on emotion
I'm looking for something to buy
Harry pulled at his lower lip while he listened to the latest version of his song. He had started writing it a while ago, but he could feel now that it was almost done.
His tongue was almost healed, and he could speak as normal again. He thought back about the way it felt to be safely held in your embrace…
You've got my devotion
But man, I can hate you sometimes
He wondered if you would remember that these words were yours. That night on New Year's Eve. You and him alone in his mother's garden, under the frozen winter sky. He could never shake off these words of yours. He wasn't sure of what you meant by them at the time, and yet he felt like they echoed in his heart with an uncomfortable accuracy.
He too hated you sometimes for the way he loved you so ardently, so stubbornly. At the end of the day though, it wasn't your fault at all, and he couldn't change his feelings either.
We'll get the drinks in
And I'll get to thinking of her
He had broken up with Gloria, although he reckoned that they had never really been together to begin with. He had just seen her over the course of three weeks, it was hardly anything meaningful to him. And he was ashamed to admit it, but he had indeed drunk a little too much a couple of nights just to think of you instead.
We'll be a fine line
Maybe it could be what you'd remain. Somewhere in between friends and lovers, and it was almost fine for him, really. It had been fine for a long time, at least. He could shake off the feeling of missing you, and he had grown skilled at forgetting about Gareth and the way he got to kiss you and share your bed.
But then he would see you face to face, and it was getting harder every day to resist the temptation to just spill it all out and hold you close.
And when he saw you with Gareth, it still hurt just as much to know that he lived everything Harry desired so brightly.
For how much longer could he go on like this? Years? Months? He didn't know, and was afraid to find out the answer.
Test of my patience
There's things that we'll never know
And yet despite everything he felt and how painful it was to live like this, he still preferred this situation to the events that would unfold if he spoke the truth.
Because he knew you better than you knew yourself sometimes, and you were loyal to a fault. And you were kind and too selfless for your own good. And if he told you the truth, you would walk away. He had given the various possibilities a lot of thoughts, and over the dozens of scenarios he had run into his head, his conclusion seemed to always fall back onto you leaving him for good. Because you could never choose him feeling like you would be cheating on your boyfriend. He knew perfectly well that you would never do anything of the kind to your boyfriend. If you were to ever leave him, it would be to make you both happier, not just for yourself. And for now, Harry was pretty sure that it wasn't the case.
So, even if he managed, by some miracle, to make you doubt your feelings for Gareth and consider trying something with him, Harry knew that your sense of loyalty would push you back into Gareth's arms. Guilt would torture you too much. And then Harry would lose you for good.
No need to try, then. The game was lost already. It was almost as if your possible feelings for him - and he was far from certain that you had any - barely mattered. There was just no scenario where Harry won.
What a stupid heart he had for giving itself to you...
Spreading you open
Is the only way of knowing you
If only he had realized all this before you met Gareth...
Why did it have to hurt so much to belong to someone else? Why did it have to mean that we'd be at their mercy? Why did we have to be so damn fragile in front of the ones that mattered most to us?
Would you recognize them if he sang your words? Would you remember that evening with him? He still dreamt about it from time to time...
Would you realize it then? How much of you he carried with him all the time?
He reckoned that you wouldn't.
We'll be a fine line
We'll be alright
He let his head fall back, his face turned to the ceiling as he let out a deep, painful sigh and closed his weary eyes.
Would the two of you ever be alright?

A/N: This is the FINAL CHAPTER of Season 4! I’ll be going back to posting once a week after this for Seasons 5 and 6 so the first chapter of Season 5 will be up next Monday!!! This is so I can hopefully finish my WIPs for after Fated is over so I won’t need to take a hiatus ^^ Thank you guys for understanding~ Now... ONTO THE FINALE!
also I wanted to find the uncensored version of the gif because it is literally my favorite line of the whole show but I couldn’t get a decent one *sad face*
Chapter 13
The group decided to take up camp inside the tunnel. They had barricaded the other side so that the only entrance would be on the far end of the tunnel and by the time anyone or anything tried to get in, the group would hear it and be prepared. Eugene had created a campfire in the middle of the tracks as the others cleared up the rest of the bodies. Now, they were all sitting by the campfire, huddled together as Abraham told Sasha, Bob, and Gloria about their plans to go to Washington. Apparently, Eugene knew what had caused the outbreak and they were on a mission to fix it, cure whatever disease they were all infected with and maybe even repair the whole world.
“What’s up?” Maggie asks when her, Glenn, Rosita, and Tara, the woman who helped Glenn, joins them by the campfire.
“He just said,” Sasha says, pointing to Abraham, then at Eugene, “that he knows what caused the outbreak.”
“Yeah, he does... and let me guess, he asked you to go to DC with him?” Glenn says, crossing his arms.
“I’m downright tickled y’all found each other. Should spend the rest of the night celebrating, because tomorrow there’s absolutely no reason why the nine of us don’t stuff ourselves in that van and head up to Washington.” Abraham says, matter-of-factly.
“He’s right,” Tara says, “I’m gonna go.”
Gloria looks around the group as they all seem to be in silent agreement, “no, he’s wrong.”
“And why’s that?” Abraham says with a frown.
“Because you said there’s absolutely no reason why we shouldn’t go to Washington together, well I have a reason not to go.” Gloria says, she then turns to Glenn, “now that I know you’re alive, you and Maggie go with them, it’s safer for you in a group.”
“No!” Glenn protests, “no way in hell am I letting you go off on your own, if you’re not going then neither am I.”
“And may we know what your reason is?” Abraham pushes, his tone was condescending as if any reason she gave wouldn’t be enough.
“There’s someone else I need to find, and I’m not going anywhere without him.” Gloria tells him straightforwardly.
Knowing that she was talking about Daryl, Glenn reaches out to her and gently grabs her arm, “then we’ll find him together.”
The group turned in for the night and Gloria took it upon herself to take first watch. She sits on the side of the railroad track and looks out towards the only entrance and exit point of the tunnel. She sighs as she feels the lingering void in her heart. Earlier when they were all sharing their rations, Gloria couldn’t help but feel alone. She was happy that Bob and Sasha had each other, ecstatic that Glenn and Maggie found each other again, and it seemed like Abraham and Rosita had something between them. Being surrounded by couples, it was hard not to miss Daryl. She tugs the shirt that she was wearing around her, wrapping it tightly around her, Daryl’s shirt.
“I hope you’re okay...” she whispers as if he could hear it.
Gloria was so caught up in her thoughts that she didn’t notice that Glenn had approached her until he sat down beside her. She quickly wipes the stray tear that fell then glances at him.
“Why aren’t you sleeping?” she asks him.
“What kind of brother would I be if I slept while my little sister is crying to herself?” Glenn says, looking at her, “talk to me.”
“I’m scared... what if I don’t find him... what if he’s already...” she sighs deeply, unable to finish her sentence before her emotions take over.
“Hey... come here,” Glenn says as he wraps his arm around her, pulling her into a comforting embrace, “we’ll find him, I already convinced the others to go to Terminus, that’ll be the first place we look, and if he isn’t there, we don’t go to DC until we find him.”
“What if he didn’t make it out...” Gloria softly sobs out.
“He made it,” Glenn reassures her, “if anyone made it out, it’s him, you know more than anyone how much of a fighter he is.”
Gloria nods and snuggles into her brother, “I miss him...”
“I know, and I’m sure he misses you too. He’s probably doing everything he can to find you too. Tell you what, if he’s not there at Terminus when we get there, we can wait for him to find us, what do you say?” Glenn suggests.
A small smile tugs at Gloria’s lips and she nods. She remembers back to Daryl’s words, that he’d always be able to find her. She knew that Glenn was right, if anyone made it out from the prison, it would be Daryl. She felt guilty that she almost gave in to thinking that he might have died in the battle. Gloria needed to have faith and trust that Daryl is still alive and looking for her as well.
---
“So... you and Bob?” Gloria teases Sasha as she walks beside her.
“Ugh, I knew I was gonna hear it from you sooner or later,” Sasha shakes her head but there was still a smile on her face.
“I’m just surprised,” Maggie chimes in, “we both thought you hated him.”
“I did not,” Sasha rolls her eyes.
“Then you just thought he was extremely annoying?” Gloria asks.
“Hey, I’m right here and I can hear you,” Bob calls out, an amused smile tugging at his lips.
“I know,” Gloria grins at him teasingly.
“Guys,” Glenn calls out as he leads the group, “I think we found it...”
It was a day’s walk from the tunnel to Terminus but there it was, standing tall with fences around it. Large letters in the windows that read TERMINUS. The group of nine glance at each other before making their way to the gate, pushing it open and walking towards the large building. They see a sign that directs them into the alleyway between the arrangement of buildings.
“‘Lower your weapons, you will be met. You have arrived at Terminus’.” Gloria reads the sign that was displayed on the main entrance of the building, she looks at Glenn, “should we listen?”
“They’ll only be hostile if we are, so, yeah, I say we listen.” Glenn says.
The others agree with him and enter the premises with their weapons lowered. As they walk through the alleyway, they are soon met by the backside of a woman who seems to be cooking on a barbeque stove. She seems to have noticed the group as she turns around and greets them with a welcoming smile.
“Hi, I’m Mary,” she says as she walks in front of the barbeque, “looks like you’ve been on the road a while.”
“We have,” Maggie responds for the whole group.
“Let’s get you settled and we’ll make you a plate.” Mary says then adds with a smile, “welcome to Terminus.”
“Thank you, uh, I’m Glenn, this is my sister Gloria, my wife Maggie, Bob, Sasha, Tara, Rosita, Eugene, and Abraham.” he says, gesturing to each respective person as he introduces the group.
“Pleased to meet you all,” she says, then she goes back behind the stove and puts some pieces of meat on the grill, “Gareth! Alex! Please come out here and welcome our new group of friends!”
Soon enough, two men come out and greet the group with a smile, “hi! I’m Gareth and this is Alex. First we’d like to welcome you to Terminus. If you don’t mind coming with us to that building over there, that’s where we will be starting the welcoming process, you know the basics, screening, checking your weapons, questioning, and all that. I hope you understand that even though we’re welcoming to every person, we still need to think of our safety.”
The approach of the procedure seemed understandable and so the group agreed to follow Gareth and Alex into the building he had pointed to earlier. Once they were outside the building, Gareth began explaining the details of the procedure.
“As I mentioned, there is a questioning process and I hope you guys understand that we will only be letting in one person at a time. The reason for that is the last time we did a group questioning... well let’s just say that some of the people who were with us when it happened, aren’t here anymore, and we don’t want anything close to that happening ever again.” Gareth explains.
They all nod at this, it seems reasonable since they were only trying to protect their own people. However, something about it rubbed Gloria the wrong way. She couldn’t put her finger on it, but she just didn’t get a good feeling about the place now that she was actually here. Abraham was the first one to go in for questioning as he wanted to make sure it was safe for Eugene to go in right after him.
“Older brother,” Gloria says in Korean softly to Glenn, “I don’t have a good feeling about this place.”
Glenn looks at her and responds in Korean, “come on, we already made it and you have a bad feeling now?”
“I can’t explain it but I just don’t...” she says then looks around and eyes the meat on the barbeque, “isn’t this place supposed to be a train station?”
“I think so, why?” Glenn asks.
“Do you smell manure or anything like that?” she asks, earning a weird look from Glenn.
“I don’t. What are you getting at?” he asks.
“This is a train station with no sign of a farm to raise cattle and yet there’s a ton of what looks like fresh meat cooking on the stove, you don’t find that weird?” Gloria points out.
Glenn registers her words and it dawns on him that she’s right. He could probably play it off if this were some kind of meat processing plant with a large freezer to store meat but this was just a train station. Unbeknownst to the siblings, Gareth seemed to be eyeing the two as they spoke in their mother tongue, wary and curious as to what they were saying.
“Everything okay?” Maggie asks, noting their serious faces.
Glenn tightens his lips and forces a smile as he nods to Maggie, “yeah, yeah, everything’s fine.”
Gloria gives him a look and tells him in Korean, “listen, when it’s your turn, ask if you can bring sister-in-law with you, I don’t trust you going in there alone.”
Before Glenn could give her a response, the door to the building opens and Glenn is next in line to go in. He glances at Alex who smiles at him, waiting for him to enter the building. He looks back at Gloria who gives him a disapproving look.
“I uh... I know it’s custom for you guys to just take in one person at a time, but is it okay if I bring my wife in?” Glenn asks Gareth, heeding Gloria’s word.
Alex looks over at Gareth who smiles at him and nods, “I don’t see why not.”
Maggie furrows her brows, slightly confused at the request but goes into the building with Glenn anyway, trusting him. Gloria watches with worry as the door closes behind them and her look is caught by Gareth.
“Hey, Gloria, right?” Gareth calls out, “I know you’re worried about whether or not we’re good people, but I promise you that we are. We just want to survive, just like you.”
Gloria forces a smile on her face and nods. She doesn’t verbally answer him though as she anxiously waits for her turn. Curiosity was eating at her, were Glenn and Maggie okay? Was it really just a simple questioning or was it something more? She is about to find out as the door opens and Alex greets her with a smile. Gloria sighs and enters the building without a second thought. He leads her down a hallway and into a smaller room. The inside of the room looked just like that of a guidance counselor’s office in high school, only difference being that the desk was empty and there were no chairs. Two people were already inside the room but they looked to be guards as they stood in the corner of the room.
“First, I’d like to ask you to put your weapons on the desk, we’re going to be doing a body search before the questioning.” Alex tells her once she’s standing in front of the desk.
Gloria lets out a breath and does as she’s told, removing her daggers from her belt along with the gun she’d taken from Joe’s men. She places them on the desk.
“Good,” Alex says with a smile then he goes over to, “now for the body search, hope you don’t mind.”
“I’ll let you know with a kick in the face if you make me feel uncomfortable,” Gloria spits out, not liking the vibe Alex was giving her.
“Feisty,” he chuckles then begins to check her body for any additional or hidden weapons in which he did not find, “nothing, that’s good.”
Alex steps away from Gloria then he looks behind her to send one of the guards a signal. She frowns as she catches the eye signal and she tries to turn around but she’s caught by the guard. Gloria freezes when she feels a gun pointed to her back and the guard ushers her out of the room and out of the building altogether through another door. He keeps the gun pressed to her back as he brings her to a large red train car with a big white ‘A’ painted on the side. He roughly pushes her forward but keeps the gun aimed at her.
“Open the door and go in,” he tells her, “now!”
Gloria sighs and does as told, sliding the door to the train car open and stepping inside. The door closes behind her almost immediately and she lets her eyes adjust to the darkness of the train car.
“I hate to admit it... but you were right.” Glenn says somewhere in the train car.
She scoffs at that and raises her arms to feel around the place so she doesn’t run into a wall, “I’m always right.”
Once she finds the wall, she leans her back on it, “now what?”
“Figure out a way to get the hell out of here.” Maggie says, standing on Glenn’s other side.
“And how would we do that?” Abraham asks, leaning on the opposite wall of Gloria.
“They have to open the doors here some time, right? Keep us fed, hydrated, if they were going to kill us, they would have already.” Glenn reasons.
“They’re going to kill us...” Gloria says and she feels Glenn throw her a disappointed look although she can’t see it, “the meat they were cooking up, what do you think that was?”
“Long pork,” Eugene pipes up, “I found it bizarre, there’s no emanation of manure in the air which means no livestock. As we may have noticed this is a train terminal of sorts, and in my knowledge there is no equipment within these facilities to act as any form of preservation of meats such as a cooler or refrigerator. I believe that we have just become their livestock.”
Gloria looks at Abraham,” does he always talk like that?”
“He does.” Abraham nods.
“Wait, so you’re saying they’re... cannibals?” Glenn says, a look of horror on his face.
“It’s smart.. Disgusting and absolutely inhumane... but smart,” Maggie says, “they set up signs for people to come to them as a lure... and we fell straight into their trap...”
“We gotta figure out a plan to get out of here before they butcher us...” Gloria stated the obvious with a heavy sigh.
One by one, the doors open to let in the others of their group but after that, no one from Terminus comes to check up on the group. They were all stuck in there, with no way out nor any indication of a schedule for them to try an ambush attack. The only sign of day and night was from the light that poured into the small holes and cracks of the train car.
A full day had gone by and there was nothing they could do about their situation. The only positive to this was that none of them were dead.
“I can’t believe it...” Gloria mutters, “we were all so busy running from the dead trying to eat us, we run straight into a stupid trap for other people to try and eat us.”
“That’s not helping, Gloria.” Glenn groans.
She scoffs and is about to say something else when she hears gunshots coming from nearby, “did you guys hear that?”
“That’s gunfire if I ever heard it,” Abraham says.
“Are they getting attacked?” Tara asks.
“Oh I really fucking hope so.” Gloria says as she tries to look out one of the small holes.
The gunfire continues for a brief moment then stops completely. They all hear a voice that sounds like Gareth shouting but they aren’t able to comprehend what he was saying. Soon the door opens, blinding them all as light floods into the train car. Someone steps in, followed by three others and the door is closed again. It seems that they had just caught more people. Gloria sighs and leans on the wall again while Glenn gets up and walks towards the new people.
“Rick?” he calls, making Gloria look in the direction of the new people.
It takes a few seconds for Gloria’s eyes to adjust to the darkness again and relief floods through her when she sees Rick and Carl, they were alive. She recognizes the woman behind Carl as well, Michonne. Gloria lets out a breath when she sees the figure behind Rick, tears well up in her eyes.
“Daryl...” she whispers quietly, as if she was scared that if she said it any louder he would disappear.
Daryl’s eyes land on her and within a second Gloria dashes towards him, tackling him in a tight hug. His arms wrap around her body in an instant, his hand cradling her head as he presses a kiss to her forehead. She pulls away from him reluctantly and turns to look at Rick who smiles at her.
“You’re here,” he says with a nod, then looks at the others in the train car, seemingly looking at the people he didn’t recognize.
“They’re our friends.” Maggie tells him.
“They helped save us.” Gloria adds.
“Yeah,” Daryl says, taking Gloria’s hand in his, “and now they’re friends o’ ours.”
“For however long that’ll be,” Abraham remarks.
“No...” Rick says, he then steps towards the door he came through, seemingly checking for any cracks or ways out, “they’re gonna feel pretty stupid when they find out.”
“Find out what?” Abraham asks, stepping towards the man.
Rick looks at Abraham, then at everyone else in the train car, “they’re fucking with the wrong people.”

Next Chapter
I really hate to leave it here but as you all know, this is literally how they ended Season 4 and they jump straight into it for Season 5, so please forgive me!! At least Gloria and Daryl are reunited~~ I gotta be honest, I wasn’t sure how I wanted them to reunite at first haha I was thinking that maybe Gloria would sneak away from Glenn and the others but Glenn would just freak out trying to find her haha and then I realized I don’t think I’ve ever read any other fics with then reuniting in the actual train car, so I went with it (if there is a scene like that in another fic, please link me, I’d love to read it!)
Please let me know what you thought of this chapter and ending to Season 4! As I mentioned earlier, Season 5 will begin NEXT MONDAY!!! ^^
And as always, I would really appreciate any comments left for me! I’ll be replying to any comments in a new post because this is a sideblog!

so i’m supposed to be working on scholarship applications but instead of writing 500 words on why i should receive money (bc i’m poor) i typed out 1.4k words of bederia smh
anyways cheeky au where bede feels feelings
--------------------------
> Nervousness, worry; something heavy building up in the heart, weighed down like a lagging tail; the bearer of bad news. Guilt.
Bede lifts his arm up the second Gloria makes a move to get up from the couch.
“Leaving?” he says.
“Yeah.” It’s little more than an act nowadays, less for his benefit than Gloria’s. “It’s going to take at least a week to travel to and back from the dynamax sightings they want me to investigate, and I’d rather arrive back in time to catch the tail end of that fair you’re helping set up.”
She’s wading her way around the coffee table when he grabs her hand.
> Guilt, stronger now. Concern, rolling off in waves; can’t take deep breaths when the water line’s over your head. Resolve, don’t look back. No fear.
No fear? Fear and concern usually go hand in hand. If she’s worried about running into a dangerous situation, why isn’t she scared about it?
It takes him a while to realize she’s worried over him.
“I’m not mad at you,” he blurts out, “This is your job, you’re the only one qualified enough to handle dens over five stars, and you’re doing it so Galar can be safe. I’d be an idiot to get mad at that.”
“I know, I just wish it doesn’t have to be--” Gloria cuts herself off in the middle of her sentence.
Doesn’t have to be like this. There were a lot of things that didn't have to be: Bede’s disqualification, the Eternatus incident, Gloria’s stepping down a year into her championship. Wistful ideations did not rewrite the stars. Both knew it very well.
> Melancholy. Guilt loses its edge, dips down into resignation.
She’s staring at the cluster of mushrooms starting to grow from the ceiling, glowing gentle hues of pink, blue, and green. For the umpteenth time, Bede wishes he could read thoughts instead of emotions. Doesn’t have to be like this.
He sighs, lets go of her hand. “Come on. I’ll come to see you off at Hammerlocke.”
--------------------------
Rule Number One: Never talk about your ability.
Rule Number Two: Avoid touching anyone unless absolutely necessary.
Those were the two fundamental laws Bede set for himself during his time in the orphanage. Stories too grotesque to be put into words, stark terror and raw emotion. They blurred together to the point where he stopped caring--stopped reaching out, beat or intimidated anyone who tried to him. He withdrew.
Compassion fatigue, he’d heard the social workers discuss, after his main caretaker quit. Emotional exhaustion leading to a decreased ability to feel empathy for others. The cost of care. He often wondered if he had that too, how others’ emotions were often so strong it had washed away his own, the dull ringing in his ears after he lost contact. Or maybe he’d always been like this.
The first rule was broken when he accused his foster father of cheating, when he gave him a slap on the back after coming home from “work”. A day later he was picked up by Oleana, and told he’d shake hands with Macro Cosmos’s pawns during meetings.
The second rule spiralled downwards when he accidentally bumped into a challenger, back in Galar Mine No 1.
It’s such a hassle. So much easier to hate someone when he doesn’t know them. Rose is a man brimming with hope for the future, too bright to hold in a handshake for long. Oleana, once her obsessiveness and exhaustion and contempt for Bede has been whittled away from the manicured fingernails digging into his shoulder, is a woman who adores her saviour ever since the day he took her off the streets. He remembers the pity officers doled against his skin when they had to restrain him to be brought back to the orphanage, the desperation of a slipping boy when Hop’s knuckles bit into his lip.
So much easier to hate when they weren’t all so human.
--------------------------
In Ballonlea, where the sun fails to filter through the thick canopy of trees, time loses its grip. There is no such thing as a day and night cycle when all light comes from bioluminescent mushrooms, shining here before you were born and after you leave.
Hammerlocke, in contrast, seems to be bathed in the light of the sun. Dying rays outline castle walls against a wash of red and gold, and shadows stretch over corners, gothic. The air is warm; he’d read somewhere that the obsidian masonry was designed to absorb heat during the day and release it at night, which saves them from temperature fluctuations as a mainland city near the wild area. Save for a few stragglers, the streets are empty.
Bede is the first to arrive at the pokemon centre, teleported by his hatterene.
Gloria wouldn’t arrive in a few minutes--she always liked taking the corvitaxi, watching the region pass by beneath her. Bede would accompany her if he didn’t have motion sickness. The last time they rode together had been...messy.
He’s flipping through a curry catalogue in the lobby when she bursts in, windblown hair and old leather bag and all.
“Sorry, I had to take a detour to get my stuff. Completely forgot about that, or I’d have brought them to your house.” Golisopod lumbers in after, bags comically hanging on its upturned scutes. “Hope you didn’t wait long?”
Bede checks his rotom-phone. Half an hour, but she doesn’t need to know that. “Yes, a whole fucking two minutes. I thought you were fine spending a month in the woods wearing the same clothes, eating berries and roots like a neanderthal.”
“Oh, I hope Sylveon pukes on your pillow tonight.” The jab didn’t have much force to it, and he doesn’t need to touch her to see her stress; they’ve been around each other long enough for him to notice the incessant tic of her right foot, how she keeps running one hand over another as a soothing gesture, in the absence of his.
(It’s endearing. He usually looks down at people who fail to disguise their fears, sees them as weak of will, but this is Gloria. She’s the girl who’d faced and captured gods, the girl known to take on the most unstable regions of the wild area and come out alive; she’s also the girl who released them after making sure they wouldn’t cause harm, the girl fretting not because she might be risking her life, but because Bede will miss her. It’s cute.)
He sees her off at the Hammerlocke gates. Gloria has her back to him, checking maps, while her golisopod is already making its way down the stairs. The gap between them seems to be growing wider, and he wants nothing more than to reach for her shoulder.
That would be crossing a boundary. They’d talked extensively about his ability, and she’d said yes, it’s okay to touch her, she had nothing to hide from him. But just because he has her consent doesn’t mean he’s privy to her feelings at the moment.
Gloria closes her map, taking one step down the stairs.
Another step. Stops.
She looks back.
Whatever she sees on Bede’s face makes her turn around and run towards him. He doesn’t get a single word in before she throws her arms around him, almost barreling him over.
> Courage, the strength to keep walking even though each step is a battle; confidence, the rain that washes away all doubt; hope, the fiercest of them all, a steady mantra of We’ll be okay.
He grips her tight, wishes for once he could speak his emotions like she’s speaking hers. Settles for balling all his conviction into a whisper. “You’re going to do phenomenal, you’re going to pummel whatever that dynamax pokemon is without breaking a sweat, and I’ll wake up a week from now with a million messages of how you kicked their ass. Don’t worry about me.”
He can feel her smile from the shift of her cheek. “And I’m going to come back to Ballonlea’s first town fair sensationalised on the headlines of every media site, and finally get to ride on a ferris wheel that isn’t always ‘out of order’ like Wyndon’s is, because you did a great job bossing people and pokemon around. Don’t worry about me.”
They let go.
Gloria heads down the stairs to her golisopod. His skin burns warm as he watches them meet up, as they round the corner, until they are gone.

My 119 in 2019 (goal achieved)
I did it! I achieved my goal of #119in2019 and I wanted to take this time to reflect on my cinematic journey over the past 365 days.
Here are the absolute worst films I saw this year in which I hated every second and wanted to die. These are in chronological order rather than rank but honestly I think everyone knows CATS was an unholy abomination that no mortal eyes should be forced to witness.
Green Book
The Prodigy
Ruben Brandt, Collector
The Beach Bum
Little
Ma
The Lion King
The Kitchen
Last Christmas
CATS
Here are my favorite/the best films I saw this year. I couldn’t stick to just 10! These ARE ranked, roughly, and usually are a combination of technically astonishing while also being entertaining, engaging, and rich in emotion and complexity. This year it was particularly about standout acting performances and incredible screenplays for me.
Parasite
Rocketman
The Farewell
Booksmart
Little Women
Honey Boy
They Shall Not Grow Old
John Wick 3
Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood
Knives Out
Ready or Not
And here are the movies I thought I was gonna like only ok but actually loved beyond belief. They may not be the BEST, but they were among the most entertaining and endearing that I saw all year - the sleeper hits, if you will. Haven DVD Commentaries - Episode 4.13: The Lighthouse
Commentary for 4.13, with Matt McGuinness and Gabrielle Stanton - co-writers for the episode
MMG: Co-writing is actually kinda fun, I’ve done a lot of it. I actually enjoy it. It takes a bit of the pressure off and makes it a little more fun, and you get to bounce ideas back and forth, and you have to do half as much work! It’s all good. GS: Theoretically half as much work. It always seems about the same amount of work, I don’t know why.
[As we see Audrey re-Troubling Duke] MMG: So this is a really cool house. It was for sale, it has a pool and tennis court GS: And it has a beautiful boat house. I think they wanted like two million dollars for it or something. MMG: Yeah it was a lot. I remember being surprised at how much it was. GS: It was quite nice, I could see myself living there. MMG: I think it was more like four million dollars. It was a lot of money.
[As we flash back to William and Mara in the sea] MMG: So this was the last scene we shot of the season, it was shot in Chester and it’s cold - the water is cold. So we had to go to great lengths to make sure they stayed warm. GS: They actually had wetsuit bottoms on to keep their legs warm, and Emily had hoses attached to pump warm water in so that she would stay warm.
[As we see Heavy and Sinister fishing] MMG: Those two guys fishing - we had a lot of fun standing there with those two guys fishing because it looked so crazy. And the big guy, Robert, totally bird-nested his reel (which is when all the line just turns into a big giant mess). He didn’t do it on purpose but it happened - he’s not a fisherman. And we had this whole big funny moment of him trying to fish, but we had to cut it for time. It was too bad because it was really funny. GS: Maybe it’ll show up in the DVD extras!
MMG: And here’s our fantastic theme music which I always love. And that dog which I always love. GS: That dog was really owned by the owner of the boat, too. MMG: Yeah, I think I’ve said that in every commentary I’ve ever done. I really love that shot of that dog coming round the corner, it looks kinda cool.
[Directly after the credits, Duke and Nathan are talking infront of the window and Ben Harker walks past with a meaningful look at Duke] MMG: This was a very controversial scene actually when we were breaking it and writing it. Because what just happened there was he gave Duke a look that said basically - kill me. Kill me and save my son. [As we switch to see Ben outside with Gloria, Audrey and Ben] MMG: So that’s Gloria right there, with her son who is, secretly to everyone else, saying goodbye to his little baby. GS: That baby was actually played by triplets. Or no, maybe it was twins. I remember one was better at sleeping and one was better at crying. So we would swap them out depending on whether he needed to sleep or cry.
[As Ben goes inside to get Aaron’s blanket] MMG: This was a fun conversation between these two [Audrey and Gloria], talking about big afterlife issues, how do we fit into the world.
MMG: So it was actually the network who pushed us to have Duke kill this guy, right? GS: Well, they didn’t push us. I think what it was is we were afraid they were going to not like it, because they would be afraid it would be irredeemable for Duke’s character and so forth. And I think we were surprised when they were like; Oh yeah, do it - go ahead. Because remember we had another option of something he was going to do. And they were like; Well why don’t you just have him kill him? And we were like; Well we didn’t think we’d be able to do that.
[As Duke comes out of the house with the blanket] MMG: This is kind of interesting too; Duke and Gloria have an odd little relationship that we continue in season five. GS: They become quite good friends. MMG: Which is kinda fun. And here, I think she knows that what he did was horrible, but it was horrible for him too and he kinda had to do it. GS: Yeah I thought this scene came out really really well. [A moment or two of silence.] GS: Oh no we’re all choking up and we can’t talk. MMG: What was happening there was I was just watching it, totally pulled in. And now I’m realising I’ve got to keep talking. GS: I know, exactly. These commentaries are hard, you have to talk the entire time. MMG: I’m hungry, I could talk about that. It is hard, to talk about the show but not get sucked in.
[As Jennifer goes to talk to Duke] GS: I have to say we do get our beauty shots of the water really well in this show. MMG: Look at that location, that’s fantastic, It’s a beautiful view. And so Jennifer had been mad at him previously for contemplating doing that, and then she realised that what he was doing was really kind of selfless and hard for him and gnarly GS: The only thing he could do.
MMG: Emma Lahana [who plays Jennifer] is a Kiwi, she’s from New Zealand. GS: We had a lot of fun with her this season, and with Colin. It’s fun to have a villain who could be so charming; you’re never quite sure if you’re rooting for him or not. MMG: I’m always amazed by those actors who have heavy accents. Like, she has a heavy New Zealand accent, you talk to her on set and you’re talking and then someone says ‘Action’ and suddenly she doesn’t have an accent any more; she sounds like she’s from New Jersey. How does she do that?
[As Duke, Jennifer, Nathan and Audrey talk about the book and what to do next] MMG: This is one of the many gazebos in and around Chester, Nova Scotia. Seems like we’re always shooting in some gazebo or another. GS: Well actually this is not in Chester. I think this is in Hubbards because if you were to widen the camera angle there, we are actually very close to the Rev’s church. MMG: Yes, that’s true. GS: I like that we brought this vampire book back from season one. I thought that was really fun, and how it all tied together. This is kind of a big scene because this is where we learn that Jennifer and Audrey are not of this world. MMG: This is one of those very tricky scenes for writers, and actors, and directors, where we are divulging a great deal of information (what we like to call pipe) and contemplating plans with lots of people, yet still need to keep it emotional and interesting and engaging. Harder than it might look. GS: And especially for production. They hate scenes with lots of people in them. Everyone’s got to get their lines out, the cameras got to cover all the actors, and it takes a long time. But sometimes they are the most powerful scenes when you get a whole group together. And it was raining that day. You can’t see it, but it was raining. I think that’s ultimately why we ended up doing it under the gazebo, I think we had another spot for it. All that sun on Nathan’s face there - that’s not real. Eric Cayla, our DP, always does an amazing job of hiding the rain and keeping everyone lit. MMG: They are such a good-looking couple [Audrey and Nathan]. They really are. GS: They are super-cute together.
[As we see the Teagues talking to Duke, Jennifer and Dwight outside the Herald} GS: This is actually Chester, downtown Chester. MMG: There were blocking challenges this day. I remember this is one of those scenes that the cast had lots of questions about why they were stood outside. This is a tricky scene becasue they’re actually having a very secret conversation, really secret about stuff that no one knows about, and they’re doing it outside. And we had to do it outside for production reasons and the cast were really struggling with - Wouldn’t we be having this conversation in a secret room? To which, I would have loved to have said - Yes! Let’s move it into a secret room! But I couldn’t.
[As Audrey finds William up on the hill sat on a tree trunk] MMG: That field is right next to our stages, just right through those woods. GS: And on the other side is that lavendar field. MMG: This is that lavendar field, or it’s part of it - from a different angle. We were there for this day too, were we there for this whole episode? I’m remembering all of these locations. GS: Close to it. Because it’s nice when it’s the end of the season because we don’t have to be working on subsequent scripts so we can actually take the time and enjoy it. MMG: This was also the day that we did a lot of Nathan running through the woods. It’s always a challenge as writers; we write long, what we think are very important, scenes of dialogue and emotion and character, and then there’s just like an eighth of a page that says; Nathan runs through the woods with a gun. And then we spend hours and hours with Nathan running through the woods with a gun because that’s harder to shoot. And the dialogue stuff that we writers find more interesting, seems to not take as long.
[As we see Duke and Dwight walking up to Heavy and Sinister] MMG: These guys were digging for worms, but that got cut. There’s Kyle, he’s part of our crew, he’s just fantastic. He was such a pleasure and a treat, and really sweet too - just a really really nice guy, and did a super job. He’s the small guy, and the big guy, Robert, is one of those guys you see and you’re just like; Oh good lord please don’t kill me. And then you talk to him and he’s the nicest guy in the world. GS: He’s a former wrestler, he used to work with Adam. MMG: Sinister and Heavy. I don’t think we ever name them on screen, but in the room when we talked about these two, we called them Sinister (Kyle) and Heavy (Robert). GS: I think in the scripts we name them as Sinister and Heavy. MMG: Yeah, but no one ever knew their names because as you can see, they’re made of aether, and so we never really had a name for them. GS: That just released a big spoiler. Well but when these come out it will be a couple weeks before the premiere. I think we can do that. What? MMG: This is me saying that no one would have noticed that had you not done what you just did. GS: Oh my god the fans would have totally noticed that! MMG: No one would have noticed. GS: Would totally have noticed!! But it’s actually good - this is what will get people watching the commentaries if they get to find out what happens in the next season. MMG: I haven’t said very much. GS: No, it’s fine. MMG: I’m now afraid to talk. I’ll just only comment on wardrobe. GS: I think he gets put in blue because it brings out his very blue eyes. Although Lucas has very blue eyes too. MMG: Poor Lucas, he spends a lot of time on this show getting beaten, killed, stabbed, shot, punched. GS: But he can’t feel it! MMG: I know that ‘s why we spend so much time pummelling him.
[As we flash back to Mara and William in period clothing] MMG: Oh god this was really funny. So the day we shot this flashback, we obviously spent a long time working out exactly what wardrobe these two should be wearing. And if you notice, it’s kind of an ecclectic wardrobe, not really specific to one time period - that’s on purpose. And Colin showed up in that outfit and with a little white Lord Fauntleroy wig on that he’s rolling through rehersals in. And I’m looking at him going; He’s not wearing that wig is he? GS: He played it so straight though.
[As we see Vince in the clerk’s office trying to get the adoption records] MMG: This gal is a local Halifax actor who we thought did a great great job. And she’s got fantastic hair. GS: We shot this in downtown Chester, in a real estate office? MMG: I think it was a law office. A very small law office in downtown Chester, playing the townhall.
[As Dwight, Duke and Jennifer walk through the park] MMG: Now here’s a little piece of trivia; this is shot in Toronto. We shot a day in Toronto. GS: Toronto is how many hours from Nova Scotia, three? Four? MMG: In the air? I think it’s more like an hour and half, or two. GS: Really? It feels longer to me, whenever we connect through Toronto. MMG: You know, I don’t know. GS: We are either writing scripts or sleeping on planes, so we never know. MMG: Or drunk. GS: Or all three. That could explain some of the scripts.
[As Mara/Audrey kneels down in front of Nathan with the box of aether] GS: This was fun. We thought about how to do this for a long time. I really like the way it came out. I have never been headbutted, but I imagine it would really leave you with a headache. MMG: Obviously those two are connected so headbutting her knocked out William. Which was a very clever move by Nathan. He got out of those handcuffs a little two quickly for my taste.
[As we see Duke and Dwight talking in the park] MMG: These two spend a lot of time together in this episode. GS: They do, I like their chemistry together.
[As Dave comes into the Herald offices to find Vince waiting for him] MMG: Oh this was fun. GS: This was a great scene. MMG: This was actually edited together in a way that was kind of surprising to me. GS: Why? MMG: Because, we had written this; there was a very clear act-out when Dave sits down and says ‘I’m from the other side’ and that was supposed to be the blow. And instead we ran it all together, which kind of bumped me. GS: I think it still works. MMG: John and Richard are just Canadian treasures, in my opinion. GS: They’re great. There is nothing we can give them that they don’t do wonderfully. MMG: They’re wonderful, they’re really nice guys. Gab and I went to the citadel in Halifax and it’s this really cool old fort and in the fort they have little videos that sort of historically teach you about what it is. And we watched the first introductory video and there’s Richard dressed up as a civil war general. And then later we saw another video, and there’s John dressed up. GS: Dressed up as an English soldier or something. MMG: So they’re very busy and very popular actors.
GS: I remember the whole adoption thing was kinda fun when we set that up in the last epsiode. And I remember a lot of that came out of looking at these two and thinking; Brothers? Really? No one ever thought to ask that question? MMG: Right. I think we throw a line at that in this episode. GS: I think Duke says something. MMG: Someone says, ‘Well that explains a lot.’
[As Duke and Jennifer and Dwight join the Teagues and Dave makes a bid to leave] MMG: And I love this moment. It’s one brother deciding if he’s going to dime the other brother out - he thinks about it, and then he does it. GS: But Dave thinks he’s maybe not going to. MMG: Dave thinks his brother’s going to let him go. [As Vince tells Dwight not to let Dave leave] MMG: I would have added a little more air under that moment. Damnit. GS: It’s too late.
[As Nathan and Audrey are talking underneath the lighthouse] MMG: This is a cute little sea-monster-in-the-pool scene.
MMG: These lamps in the cave were a sticky wicket. I was always like; Where did these lamps come from? GS: Well they brought them down because we saw them in the top. MMG: It’s not super clear GS: I thought this whole cave was amazing - we built this whole thing - the floor, the walls. It was pretty cool. MMG: Built by Jennifer Stuart and our incredible art department, who are spectacular, I love those guys. And, I don’t know how they did this. But I do know that the walls of that cave are filled with garbage. Just to get the texture and definition. They were running around the art department, dumping waste baskets in there, like people’s old fast food bags and all sorts of stuff. GS: I thought it was all styrofoam. That’s hilarious. And yet the cave was not smelly. Because we spent a lot of time in there. MMG: Oh boy we shot for a long time in that cave. We actually had water running down those walls. GS: Which I think caused a problem with the walls. MMG: It was making a lot of noise too, so we started to minimise it.
[As everyone arrives in the cave] MMG: This is a giant scene. As Gab was mentioning before regarding coverage, you shoot a scene and you shoot the master and that’s when you get everyone in the scene. And then you’ve got to set the camera up to just be on one person and do the whole scene again to get each person’s coverage individually. So the more people you put in a scene the more coverage you have to do. And coverage, per person, I always think is 45 minutes to an hour. GS: Oh easily. MMG: So these big scenes with a lot of people, they take a long time to shoot. GS: And this is one of the biggest scenes with all of our main characters that we’ve done. Everyone’s here. MMG: Yeah it is this year. In previous seasons we’ve done lots of scenes like this.
GS: I thought this tattoo on the floor looked so amazing, in real life and it looks great here. MMG: It was fun to walk around on it. And I’m afraid to say, I don’t think it exists any more. It would have been really fun if we could have peeled that thing off and auctioned it off to a fan. GS: Yeah. But it was huge, you’d need quite a place to put it. I have lots of photos of myself standing on it.
[As Dave almost falls in the hole] MMG: This was crazy. So, all of this was shot with green screen. GS: On a scaffolding. MMG: And John and Richard, bless their hearts, hung for a long time over the edge of this board surrounded by green. GS: It looks great. John had actual ropes holding him, so he kept cracking jokes and spinning around and stuff between takes. MMG: But he was sore the next day, both of them were. Even with the ropes it was still physically demanding. And when I say ‘a long time’ he probably hung there for two or three hours. But then you end up with really cool stuff like this.
[As Audrey pushes William into the hole] MMG: We rehearsed the choreography of this a bunch. GS: Oh yeah. And he had to do this whole green screen thing where he had to fall and lie on a skateboard and flail around like he falling. MMG: I wanted that ‘I knew you were in there’ line from William to be “There you are, you bitch.” GS: That was me! I wanted that line to be “I knew that bitch was in there.” And everyone was like; No, he loves her, he’d never call her a bitch. But I would argue that’s what he loves about her. And I’m happy that all this time later you’ve come over to my side. MMG: There is no way I objected to that line. GS: But we just could not sell it.
GS: We had a bunch of other stuff that didn’t end up in this cut, did it end up online? MMG: I don’t think so. It might end up online soon - it should, it’s pretty cool.

Age: 38 How old does he/she appear: About the same, I’d say. Height: 169 cm Eye color: Brown Glasses or contacts: Has to wear glasses whilst driving Skin tone: Olive Distinguishing marks: Has some older scars on his arms/wrist area from his teenage years of dealing with his OCD. Anxious scratching. He doesn’t really try to hide them but also doesn’t wave it around either. Predominant features: Freckles, his chin Hair color: Black Type of hair: Thick and wavy, almost curly Hairstyle: Usually has his hair styled up one way or another Disabilities: OCD, anxiety and color blindness Usual fashion of dress: Dapper, but in a casual sense. Wears clean and pressed shirts and dress pants. Tries not to overdo it with colors since he can’t see them. Favorite outfit: Opposite to what he usually wears though, Matías owns a rather colorful suit that he brings out on the occasional fancy meet and greet. It’s usually for exhibits and other tidbits when he feels like it’s more necessary for him to match up with his art. Jewelry or accessories: Wears a bracelet Pollux gave him after he moved in.
PERSONALITY:
Good personality traits: Generous, Loyal, Patient, Creative Bad personality traits: Compulsive, Anxious, Naïve, Insecure Mood character is most often in: He’s most often in a good mood Sense of humor: Depends on who he’s with, but usually he’s on the humble side. He likes to poke fun at social standards, gender roles and sometimes do those type of jokes you’d expect from an older person. His jokes are often harmless and doesn’t come at the expense of others. Character’s greatest joy in life: Art and his family Character’s greatest fear: Not being able to fend for said family. Why?: Being an artist is time consuming and sometimes doesn’t pay well. He’s the one that has offered his children a home and he wants them to be able to grow up in a stable environment. His OCD often play on this fear of his, especially when it comes to his own art and the level of perfection he feels he has to meet. What single event would most throw this character’s life into complete turmoil?: Character is most at ease when: At home in his studio, working or watching a movie with any of the kids. Most ill at ease when: Dealing with deadlines, talking about his older brother, when his OCD act up Enraged when: It’s really hard to make Matías enraged?? He’s usually annoyed or disappointed at best, you’d have to push it damn far for that. Depressed or sad when: Same with this Priorities: Getting an income and making sure the kids have a good childhood. Life philosophy: Matías generally likes to live by the golden rule, of giving what he wants given. If granted one wish, it would be: He’d like to get rid of his OCD. It’s not as big of a hindrance as it used to be, but still gets him in trouble sometimes. Why?: Because it gets in the way of him enjoying his own work and steals a lot of time. It basically forces him to go through a ritual before and after he works on his art pieces and if he messes up or if someone interrupts he could end up trashing the whole art piece -- thus needing to start over. It’s expensive at that, art supplies don’t come cheap. Character’s soft spot: I feel like that’s obvious by now. Is this soft spot obvious to others?: Yes. Greatest strength: His patience and generosity towards people, he’s overall a great person to lean on if you got troubles or need help with anything. Greatest vulnerability or weakness: However, it’s also a weakness as it’s easy to take advantage of a soft soul and his brother already proved that point. Biggest regret: Letting his brother set up business through him, thus helping him network and possibly scam others. Minor regret: He always lowkey regets throwing away his art work, but it cannot be helped. Biggest accomplishment: His career! Minor accomplishment: Keeping his house tidy with five people living in it Character’s darkest secret: Matías doesn’t really have a dark secret, unless you count his brother being in jail etc. Does anyone else know?: It was definitely in the news at the time of his arrest so I’d say a lot of people know, at least if they’re from Kelowna.
GOALS:
Drives and motivations: Besides his family and career, Matías is highly driven towards pushing more information about color blindness and making society more accessible to those that have a harder time reading and seeing colors. He does the occasional speech and educational seminar when he has time to spare. Immediate goals: Catch up with all his deadlines. Long term goals: Have a stable future, watch his kids grow up, work on his OCD. How the character plans to accomplish these goals: Hard work and dedication. How other characters will be affected: Not much, it’s mostly a thing of his own.
FAVORITES:
Color: Matías mostly see the world in tints of red with some green mixed between and thus he tend to appreciate his narrow color spectrum as a whole. Music: Honestly, he will play anything by Gloria Estefan and Tina Turner on repeat. Food: Can always go for a good meat stew or an avocado toast Literature: Perfume by Patrick Süskind, but usually tend to read magazines rather than books. Form of entertainment: Reads, paints, sometimes tries to further some skill he’s been trying out. Mode of transportation: Walks whenever he can, otherwise a car
HABITS:
Hobbies: Same as with his entertainment. Plays a musical instrument?: He doesn’t play one fully, but he has definitely tried a few out of curiosity. Flute, guitar and harmonica for some. Plays a sport?: Nope. How he/she would spend a rainy day: Probably working in his studio or helping the kids with their homework. He also tends to do some crafting with Lillian or listens to Pollux as he rants on about astrology. Spending habits: Stays within his budget, doesn’t buy thing he doesn’t need just for the sake of having it. Smokes: Water pipes yes. Drinks: On the occasion, not a huge fan. Other drugs: Only medication. What does he/she do too much of?: Dwell and worry about petty things. What does he/she do too little of?: Speak up and take space. Extremely skilled at: Painting Extremely unskilled at: Decorating Nervous tics: Scratching or pulling/fiddling Usual body posture: Seems relaxed but tend to sit and stand upright, open and welcoming Mannerisms: Calm and collected, pensive
TRAITS:
Optimist or pessimist?: Optimist Introvert or extrovert?: Ambivert Daredevil or cautious?: Cautious, but doesn’t stray away from trying new things Logical or emotional?: Logical but can let emotions override depending on the situation Disorderly and messy or methodical and neat?: Methodical and neat Prefers working or relaxing?: Working Confident or unsure of himself/herself?: Unsure Animal lover?: Yes! He doesn’t have time for animals but Natalie has a pair of rats and Pollux owns a hamster he tend to help out with.
SELF-PERCEPTION:
How he/she feels about himself/herself: Matías feels neutral when it comes to himself. He doesn’t hold hold himself to a standard of importance but neither is he riddled with self-hatred. He finds that he fills the role of support for a lot of people and quite often so enjoy it. One word the character would use to describe self: Caring What does the character consider his/her best personality trait?: Being level headed What does the character consider his/her worst personality trait?: Being naïve How does the character think others perceive him/her: Matías thinks other people view him as someone who has his whole life in order, someone who is lucky to have a career that he loves and a big family to rely on. He’s a person with a warm aura and wise thoughts to share. Most end up fond of him and find him reliable. What would the character most like to change about himself/herself: Besides the OCD etc I feel like Matías would like it if he gained some more courage and the ability to stand up to himself. He’s not really the type of person who wants to jump into conflicts or argue with people. Due to his childhood he prefers to stay low and out of the way of others.
RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHERS:
Opinion of other people in general: He enjoys the company of others, especially those that hold similar values or ways of life. Does the character hide his/her true opinions and emotions from others?: Yes, as mentioned he doesn’t like conflicts and prefer to paint over or avoid a subject if it’s a cause of problem. He, of course, has matters he’s vocal about but generally so he keeps it on the low and on the friendly side. Person character most hates: He cannot stand his brother any longer. Person character goes to for advice: Miguel Person character feels responsible for or takes care of: His adoptive children Person character feels shy or awkward around: None, yet Person character openly admires: His best friend Silas Person character secretly admires: None, yet

A Year on Spotify: 2017
100. Fat Lip - Sum 41 - I can’t believe this song invented music.
It’s none of your concern, I guess I’ll never learn I’m sick of being told to wait my turn
99. Energy - Drake - I love being part white. This was a go to gym song when I was in a bad mood, which was A LOT over the summer.
I got girls in real life trying to fuck up my day, fuck going online that ain’t part of my day
98. Bad Girls - M.I.A. - Erin and I always listen to this song while driving anywhere together, even though we are the two least bad people I know.
Live fast, die young, bad girls do it well
97. Nerve - The Story So Far - You know, I used to always complain about how the self titled was their worst album. In the past year, I have found that I actually like this album better than What You Don’t See. You set your pace, I’ll keep mine too
96. Seventy Times Seven - Brand New - Too bad Jesse Lacey is a TRASH CAN and Brand New is CANCELLED. I’ve honestly just stopped listening to Brand New near the end of 2017. Too many of the song (Maradona, Sudden Death, Sic Transit Gloria, etc) made me TOO uncomfortable. This song is still better than There’s No “I” In Team tho Have another drink and drive yourself home, I hope there’s ice on all the roads And you can think of me when you forget your seatbelt, and again when your head goes through the windshield
95. Go Your Own Way - Fleetwood Mac - This song STILL slaps. I’ve never cheated on someone, I’ve never been cheated on, but damn this entire makes feel like I’ve done both of those thing excessively.
Loving you isn’t the right thing to do How can I ever change things that I feel?
94. There, There - The Wonder Years - This is my PEAK anxiety song. I’ve never had a song that encapsulates what my specific anxieties feel like so well.
I’ve got my heart strung up on clothing lines through tenement windows in mid-July
93. Wildest Dreams - Taylor Swift - This song is so GOOD. Have you ever been hooking up with someone in secret? Ever had to end things with someone when you didn’t want to? Ever only have fond memories of someone? This is the song for YOU. I remember listening to this song a lot freshman year of college in the fall, how long ago that seems.
Say you’ll remember me, standing in a nice dress staring at the sunset babe Red lips and rosy cheeks, say you’ll see me again even if it’s just in your wildest dreams
92. Goodmorning - Bleachers - I am pretty sure I dream about Mike more than anyone in my friend group. I will have these intense, real dreams where I can feel him. I will have hazy, abstract dreams where maybe I can’t see him, but I wake up and I know he’s there. I have nightmares about the accident. I have dreams that are just a movie reel of our old memories. Sometimes it’s wonderful, getting visited by him, but sometimes it can almost be debilitating. This song captures that feeling perfectly.
Woke up, I’m in the inbetween, honey One foot out and I know the weight is coming, because I left it by the bed last night Open my eyes, and I stare and pray for light Always one foot out when you say goodbye to the one that you love, one dream away from the ones above That’s such a rhythm in my life these days, so I hold on tight and I learn to behave
91. Using - Sorority Noise - Not gonna kill myself 2k17
I stopped wishing I was dead, learned to love myself before anyone else
90. Bugatti (Remix) - Ace Hood - This is a defining song of my friendship with Will.
I’mma say this, fuck it I’ll say it: if you got good pussy you should always have your rent paid
89. Falling In Love Again - Joyce Manor - I remember when I had my first time with Michael, this song was stuck in my head. I remember his sports themed wallpaper border in his old bedroom. I remember looking at the streetlights reflecting off of his window pane. I remember total bliss. I remember his soft kisses, how held me so close afterwards.
I think you’re funny, I like your friends, I like the way the treat you I’ve got some money that we could spend, not that you’re like that I’m falling in love again I’m falling in love again
88. Nasty Habits - You Me At Six - I miss old YMAS. I wish Night People wasn’t wannabe Black Keys junk.
I’ve got you breathing all heavy and deep, gasping for air and down on your knees You’re in love for only as long as you want to
87. Shimmer - Moose Blood - I remember sending this to Molly, I want to send her my deepest apologies. This song is so sad, I’m glad it doesn’t apply to my life anymore.
It’s been awhile since I saw you You don’t look the same, you taste different too
86. Run Away With Me - Carly Rae Jepsen - This was the first song we listened to on the DC roadtrip. That was one of the best weekends of my life, I can’t wait for all the places Maddy, Will, and I go in the future.
Oh baby, take me to the feeling I’ll be your sinner in secret When the lights go out, run away with me
85. Something Right - Microwave - This song makes me irrationally sad?
Last night you told me you were pregnant My throat collapsed, I couldn’t breathe You said there’s a little man inside you, who looks a little bit like me
84. Reckless Love - Bleachers - I love having to come to terms with emotional and sexual abuse! People fucking suck!
So give me a chance to remember, what I’ve given up to defend you I have burned my dreams away, to stand in the broken shadows of your reckless love
83. You Tore Out My Heart - Tiny Little Houses - I remember listening to this a lot in August. August was a hard month.
I’m so tired of being afraid, and I’m so sick of wasting away And there’s no truth in whatever you say You tore my heart out again and again
82. The Let Down - Seaway - This is their best song
Oh it’s all the same, if you feel the same we’ll never change
81. Meet Me In the Hallway - Harry Styles - THIS! ALBUM! DESERVED! MORE! It’s so good. It’s the best thing anyone post split has put out. I listened to this album non stop when it came out. This song sounds like a dream I’ve had in the past. This song sounds like hoping for that late night text, this song sounds like longing.
We don’t talk about it, it’s something we don’t do Because once you go without it, nothing else will do
80. Closer - Chainsmokers - I know everyone hates this song but I like this song whoops
Four years no call, now I’m looking pretty in a hotel bar
79. Local Man Ruins Everything - The Wonder Years - This song has gotten me through every single rough patch in my life. Anytime that I’ve needed to move on from something in life, this is THE song.
I don’t have roses in the closet, but I’ve got pictures in a drawer It’s everything left in me not to stare at them anymore
78. I Think I You Were In My Profile Picture Once - Modern Baseball - This song used to remind me vaguely of Scott way back in the day, but now it is purely a Mike song. I remember laying in my bedroom with all the lights off after the funeral and just listening to this song. It’s funny how drastically things can change.
Covered in bottles with the stench of a loss of life And I know that it’s quite heartbreaking we won’t speak like this again
77. Blissth - Sorority Noise - Emotional trauma: the song
You’ll always be like a nightmare to me, and I’ll always be begging for sleep
76. Don’t Take the Money - Bleachers - Do you ever have a song that just makes you feel alive? This is that song.
You steal the air out of my lungs, you make me feel it
75. 10 Bands - Drake - This is the best song off of If You’re Reading This… This is THE Drake song to listen to while driving in rain at night when you’re pissed off. I can’t tell you how many times this summer I would drive around blasting this song being pissed off. Also, my favorite lyric to this song? Iconic.
My ex asked me “where you moving?” I said onto better things
74. I Wish You Would - Taylor Swift - I don’t remember listening to this that much this year? This was a genuine surprise to see. I DID listen to this a lot in the early fall of 2015, when things were in a weird place with Scott. Once again, that feels so long ago geez. I remember feeling like this song was all I was ever going to feel like. Thank God for moving on, Thank God for change.
It’s 2 A.M. in your car, you pass my street, the memories start You say it’s in the past, you drive straight ahead You’re thinking that I hate you now because you still don’t know what I never said I wish you would come back, wish I never hung up the phone like I did I wish you knew that, I’ll never forget you as long I live
73. 505 - Arctic Monkeys - Has a song ever given you anxiety, made you sad, and made you want to get laid all at the same time?
But I crumble completely when you cry, it seems like once again you have to greet me with goodbye
72. Chicago Is So Two Years Ago - Fall Out Boy - This song makes me want to punch every person who has ever wronged me DIRECTLY in the face. You want apologies? Girl you might hold your breath until your breathing stops, forever The only thing you’ll get is this curse on your lips, I hope they taste of me forever
71. Out of the Woods - Taylor Swift - I love Bleachers. Anyway, I love to listen to this song while driving by myself late at night, it’s a very surreal feeling.
Looking at it now, last December We were built to fall apart, then fall back together
70. Dakota - A Rocket to the Moon - If Molly or Bethany is in the car, this song is never skipped. I miss power pop.
I know that she barely knows me, and I’m fake in love with her It’s like I’m singing karaoke, and I forgot the second verse, but I can make up my own words
69. Harvard - Diet Cig - Remember when my ex, who I hadn’t spoken to in YEARS decided to send me a long ass message apologizing for shit that I no longer desired an apology for? Remember when this happened in a fucking Denny’s? Remember when at the end of the message, he somehow managed to make it all about himself and his annoying ass liberal arts school in the woods of Vermont? 2017 was the year of people not being able to Leave Me Alone.
Does it feel better in your ivy league sweater? Put your work shoes on, and talk about her at your shitty job. Does it feel better in that cold Boston weather? Fuck your ivy league sweater, you know I was better.
68. Corrigan - Sorority Noise - I remember listening to this song while driving to the job I hated. This song has nothing to do with working a dead end desk job, but I always seem to associate it with that?
I will never be the one you need I only hope to be the solid ground beneath your feet I will never be the turning of your leaves I only hope to be the one you call when you can’t sleep
67. Fall Into These Arms - New Politics - This was also a surprise, I don’t remember listening to this a lot this year. It is on a lot of my playlists because it’s catchy af, so that must be why it made the list. I remember listening to this in fall of 2015 (honestly, what WASN’T I listening to a lot in fall of 2015) while feeling like I was drowning in poor choices.
Fall into these arms, and spend the night with a stranger like me
66. Style - Ryan Adams - This song is HOT. Also my favorite line really resonates with me. This has been in my top 100 since 2015 when this came out, it’s SO good.
You’ve got that long brown hair thing that I like You’ve got that good girl faith and ass so tight
65. Right Back At It Again - A Day To Remember - Wow I love being emo? This song always reminds me of the Cheektowaga gang.
So here I am, right back at it again, just like I always said
64. Pretense - Knuckle Puck - There are about five KP songs total that I enjoy, but this song SLAPS. This was another song that I would listen to a lot in August of this year.
Consider this the repercussion of the actions you were never properly punished for Due to an overbearing demeanor brought on by your own self awareness Your credibility is a half empty glass of salt water that I watched you spill over and over and over again Go ahead, make me the bad guy
63. Grapefruit - Aaron West & The Roaring Twenties - This is THE SADDEST SONG TO EVER BE WRITTEN. I listened to this whole album a lot throughout this year, it’s such a good depression album.
In all my dreams, I’m in the house that I grew up in I’m trying to be half the man I know my dad is, or was I see me as a father, looking over a daughter Who grew up to be just like you, and now It’s just a thread I can’t hold onto It’s just an open wound
62. HUMBLE. - Kendrick Lamar - This was a go to gym song for the first half of the year, but honestly by the second half of the year I was way more into DNA.
Girl, I can buy your ass the world with my paystub
61. Doses & Mimosas - Cherub - Lol @ the time I went to a RAVE in 2017. As someone who has never done drugs and doesn’t plan to, I don’t think I will be going to a rave ever again. I did watch someone do cocaine right next to me in the middle of Town Ballroom. Shit was wild. Anyway, Cherub sucked live but I still love this song?
To all the bitch ass hoes who hate me the most, I hate you too
60. Your Graduation - Modern Baseball - This is another one of those songs that I thought I would be stuck living for the rest of my life. I remember listening to this song on a constant loop for MONTHS my junior year of high school. I remember making Scott listen to this when we were both very drunk, and for the first time in his life he actually APOLOGIZED to me. NOW, fast forward to 2017 this is just a song that I like to jam out to. I love positive growth, I hope I have even more of it in the coming year.
You weren’t the only one who thought of us that way I spend most nights awake, wide awake I never thought that I, that I would see the day Where I just let you go, let you walk away
59. Hands On Me - Ariana Grande - I’m gay
Skirt off, keep the high heels on
58. You Are In Love - Taylor Swift - The first time I heard this song, I cried so hard. It is truly Michael and I in a song. It’s so perfectly us. It’s so beautiful. Every single word in this song resonates with the both of us so much. I remember laying in his bed with him late at night, and he just held me while we listened to this song together. I’m so corny, I love my boyfriend so much.
Morning, his place. Burnt toast, Sunday. You keep his shirt, he keeps his word. And for once you let go of your fears and your ghosts. One step, not much, but it said enough. You kiss on sidewalks, you fight, and you talk One night he wakes, strange look on his face Pauses and says “you’re my best friend” And you knew what it was, he is in love
57. I’m The Best - Nicki Minaj - Whenever I want to drop out of school, I think about how disappointed Nicki would be, and I keep chugging along.
To all my bad bitches, I can see your halo
56. The Downfall Of Us All - A Day To Remember - It’s 2017 and this song still slaps
Duh duh duh duh duhduhduhduh duh duh duh duhduhduhduh 55. We All Float Down Here - Four Year Strong - It’s 2017 and this song ALSO still slaps. I regret not going to their 10 year tour this past year, smh.
Too bad you never did have the guts to know where your heart should go
54. Septemberism - Man Overboard - This is song is the face of the early 10’s pop punk movement. This the best pop punk song that will ever be written. I only own Man Overboard merch. I remember feeling the floor buckle underneath us at Webster when they played this on the farewell tour.
I hate you, you should have picked up the phone tonight
53. If It Means A Lot To You - A Day To Remember - WOW I LOVE BEING EMO. Remember when Molly and I were both crying to this song during their set and NO ONE noticed?
I swear I’ll never be happy again, and don’t you dare say we can just be friends
52. She’s Out Of Her Mind - Blink-182 - California is a bad album, but this is a great song. It always reminds me of my sister, I can’t wait till she moves back to Buffalo. It’s not the same without her around.
She’s got a black shirt, black skirt, and Bauhaus stuck in her head.
51. Out Of The Woods - Ryan Adams - This is better than the Taylor version, and the Taylor version is one of my all time favorite songs. This songs sounds so different than the original. It sounds so hopeless and SAD.
Two paper airplanes, flying, flying…..
50. Second Letter From St. Julien - Sorority Noise - While on the drive to the Sorority Noise concert: “Hey Maddy, what if they open with Second Letter?” “Nah they wouldn’t do that.” As you can imagine, that is exactly what happened.
And if you’re with God, am I making you proud by waking up each day?
49. The Waterboy Returns - Modern Baseball - For reasons unknown, I would always listen to this while driving to school this semester. I can’t tell you why. This song is a Mike song, so I was rolling up to 8 AM nursing lab in tears lmao.
It’s been a lifetime since we spoke last, I have a thousand things to say
48. Appointments - Julien Baker - This song makes me feel like I’m drowning, but in the best way. The entire album was my favorite of 2017 and I am sure that every song will be in my most played of 2018. She’s just too good.
Nothing turns out like I pictured it, maybe the emptiness is just a lesson in canvases
47. St. Joe Keep Us Safe - Aaron West & The Roaring Twenties - As a born and raised Catholic who is very close with their parents, this song makes me an unmeasurable amount of sad
I’m sorry Aaron, I know this year has been hard. If you’re hurt then you’re hurt, no I won’t make it worse, I’m always in your corner
46. Too Good - Drake - This is one of two good songs of Views.
You’ve got somebody other than me Don’t play the victim when you’re with him
45. Feeling This - Blink-182 - This song makes me feel very sad, and brings me back to the summer when I was sixteen, depressed, and making terrible life choices
Fate fell short this time, your smile fades in the summer
44. Sundress - Tiny Moving Parts - This song reminds me of Robin and The Boys Cabin Trip 2017. It was SO much fun this year. It was a weekend of absolute fucking around. We swam in the lake, we kayaked, we shot off BB guns, we cooked meals together and just bonded. Making jungle juice, playing pong in the yard, shooting off fireworks, popping champagne and getting Owen a graduation cake, doing shots of expensive tequila. Ben spending the night wrapped around the toilet, cleaning up plastic cups while everyone was still asleep in the morning because I was only one awake early in the morning. Doing the Tops bottle return of shame, with a cart full of rattling bottles and cans. I loved every second of that weekend. I love that I’m still close with my high school friends, I love that I can still call them some of my best friends in life even if we don’t see each other too often.
Grab my hand let’s dance, like we used to in high school These are the golden years, let’s spend them holding beers One hand on the can, one hand in your hand, that’s my idea of romance I love you, at least I used to
43. From the Dining Table - Harry Styles - Wow I miss Haylor. This song is sad, like most songs I listen to, go figure.
Maybe one day you’ll call me and tell me that you’re sorry too Even my phone misses your call, by the way
42. Back to Back - Drake - Look, this summer was a whole bunch of bullshit and I’m glad it’s behind me
Trigger fingers turn to twitter fingers
41. Break Your Heart Right Back - Ariana Grande - This is an UNDERRATED Ariana song. It’s catch af, this was also a go to gym song this year.
I should have saw it coming, I should have saw the signs But I wanted to believe you, just you, you said you wouldn’t lie
40. Fourth of July - Fall Out Boy - All of my favorite FOB songs are written about Mikey Way
I wish I’d known how much you loved me, I wish I cared enough to know I’m sorry every song’s about you The torture of small talk with someone you used to love
39. Your Best Friend - Seaway - I lied, this is Seaway’s best song. A great song for when you’re annoyed with people who you don’t want in your life anymore.
I hate when you whisper to me that you think you should be the one who could be taking me home Because you’ve got problems, and I never asked to solve them
38. Forever - Drake - I LOVE BASKETBALL
LIKE A SPRAINED ANKLE, BOY I AIN’T NOTHING TO PLAY WITH
37. Touch It - Ariana Grande - This concert with Maddy was an out of body experience honestly. It was SO MUCH FUN. This also started our tradition of post concert Jim’s. This was one of the best days of 2017.
Remind me why we’re taking a break, it’s obviously insane Because we both know what we want, so why don’t we fall in love?
36. It’s Okay - Pentimento - Personal growth: the song
And it haunts me, every single world you said But I never thought I’d say this….it’s okay
35. The Place That You Love - Have Mercy - Being lied to sucks, I listened to this song a lot when all of that shit hit the fan.
So why’d you do it? Why are you selfish? Why can’t I trust you anymore? Where’s the sorry? No pity party, when you come and knock on my door
34. Moonlight - Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman is a pop masterpiece, also I love my mans
He’s so bossy, he makes me dance Trying to sit in the back of his whip and just cancel my plans Sweet like candy, but he’s such a man
33. Cool - Gwen Stefani - Fun fact: The first time I realized I was attracted to women was when I watched this music video! Also this song is the ULTIMATE at peace with your ex song, and I am really happy to say that I believe I’ve reached that level of zen in my life
And I’ll be happy for you, if you can be happy for me Circles and triangles, and now we’re hanging out with your new girlfriend So far from where we’ve been, I know we’re cool
32. Look What You Made Me Do - Taylor Swift - This is honestly the worst song off of Reputation, but I was just very excited when she released new music so I listened to it a whole bunch regardless
Maybe I got mine but you’ll all get yours
31. Heart Out - The 1975 - This song reminds me of the couple months between when Michael and I met, and when we actually started dating. Specifically reminds me of the night of The Wonder Years show, March 5th 2016. I remember him having his arm around me in Town Ballroom and feeling like everything was right in the world.
You’ve got something to say, why don’t you say it outloud? Instead of living in your head
30. Your Deep Rest - The Hotelier - This is one of my all time favorite songs. This song punches me in the goddamn face every time I hear it
Your lack of love for your dearself is sapping all of us here out Trace your roots back to the ground, work out the problem for yourself
29. Thinking About You - Ariana Grande - I cried during this song at the concert. This song is about masturbating.
Had me arching my back, had my eyes rolling back Now you love me so good, I wish you would hurry up and come back
28. Me vs.The Highway - The Wonder Years - Remember when they only played this at the Buffalo date? I almost blacked out, I was so excited.
I remember me at eighteen Naked in your parent’s basement, young and careless, watching you blow smoke rings
27. Time After Time - Cyndi Lauper - That Park & Rec scene with April and Ann singing this? Yep.
If you’re lost you can look and you will find me, time after time
26. Solo - The Story So Far - This is the best song off of the self titled don’t @ me
I wish you’d just call, and we could hash it out I could tell you what I’m so mad about
25. Disappeared - Sorority Noise - No song has ever explained long term grief like this one
I let my hair down today, and I took a shower for the first time in what felt like weeks
24. Happy Birthday - Tiny Moving Parts - I don’t smoke weed, but this song definitely makes me feel like I do
Getting stoned in the back of a car, you have no idea where you are But you’re satisfied with life, and you don’t think twice of it
23. New Scream - Turnover - I’m really glad I’m finally in a field of study that I feel confident and happy in. When I was in the transition between Fredonia and nursing school, I was stressed out and sad. I felt so lost, and I would listen to this song all of the time for that year of my life.
Adolescent dreams gave to adult screams Paranoid that I won’t have all the things they say I need
22. Better Man - Little Big Town - I can’t believe Taylor Swift wrote one of her all time best songs and GAVE THAT SHIT AWAY!!!
You’re jealousy, I can hear it now. You’re talking down to me, like I’ll always be around You push my love away like it’s some kind of loaded gun, boy you never thought I’d run Sometimes in the middle of the night, I can feel you again But I just miss you and I just wish you were a better man
21. 6 God - Drake - Another go to gym song AND driving around while in a bad mood song. This was Drake’s last good album smh
And just like every single other thing in my life, you can have her when I’m finished
20. Die For You - The Weekend - Do you really get in a fight with your partner if you don’t listen to this song?
Even though we’re going through it, and it makes you feel alone Just know that I would die for you
19. Humming - Turnover - Molly told me to listen to this song when Michael and I started dating, because in her words “it’s the ultimate lovers song.” and holy fuck, she was right.
Show me why you’re always smiling, laugh again and make me fall in love
18. Settle Down - The 1975 - This is the best song off of the self titled, no question
You’re cold and I burn, I guess I’ll never learn
17. Wild Heart - Bleachers - Strange Desire as a whole is a very important album to me. It really got me through Mike’s death, and continues to to do this day
Now everything has changed, and it’s only you that matters I will find anyway to your wild heart
16. IV. Sweatpants - Childish Gambino - I think I listened to this every single day in the month of August, holy shit.
You’re faker than some sweet and low
15. Our Apartment - Aaron West & The Roaring Twenties - I remember being SUPER SICK at this concert, and Michael took care of me so well the whole time. I love my peach so much oh my God.
I found enough of your hairpins to build you a monument, a statue to loneliness
14. I’m Serious, I’m Sorry - Jeff Rosenstock - The lyric I’m about to share is my autobiography and I’m going to get the entire thing tattooed down my ribs like the Jasey Rae girl. I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve screamed this bridge in my car while driving by myself down the 990.
Were you supposed to not go to college? Stay in your mom’s house on the computer Googling grief cures, talking to no one Waiting for life to start feeling better Waiting for pain to not be a constant
13. A Change Of Heart - The 1975 - Such a good “I’ve moved on” song
You used to have a face straight out a magazine, now you just look like anyone
12. …Ready For It? - Taylor Swift - I’m gay
In the middle of the night, in my dreams You should see the things we do, baby
11. Two Ghosts - Harry Styles - WOW I MISS HAYLOR
We’re not who we used to be We’re just two ghosts standing in the place of you and me Trying to remember how it feels to have a heartbeat
10. I Don’t Fuck With You - Big Sean - I’m so glad this made the top ten. Thank you to Big Sean for CLEANSING us with this song.
Everyday I wake up celebrating shit, why? Because I just dodged a bullet from a crazy bitch
9. I Wanna Get Better - Bleachers - This song has been integral in me coming to terms with grief and bettering myself as a person. This is the ultimate hype track.
I chase that feeling of an eighteen year old who didn’t know what loss was
8. Love Me - The 1975 - This is the song that really got me into The 1975
A decline in the standards are what we accept
7. One Last Time - Ariana Grande - This is the most underrated of all of her singles, smh. It’s so good?
I don’t really care if you’ve got her in your heart I really care is you wake up in my arms So one last time, I need to be the one who takes you home
6. Your Ex-Lover Is Dead - Stars - This song takes my breath away. It’s so fucking real, it’s so accurate. I love this song so much, I’m surprised it isn’t higher on this list to be honest.
It’s nothing but time and a face that you lose I chose to feel it and you couldn’t choose I’ll write you a postcard I’ll send you a note, from the house down the road from real love Live through this, and you won’t look back There’s one thing I want to say, so I’ll be brave You were what I wanted, I gave what I gave I’m not sorry I met you, I’m not sorry it’s over I’m not sorry there’s nothing to save
5. No Halo - Sorority Noise - This song reminds me of Shawn, I think about how he didn’t come home for Mike’s funeral a lot. This whole album meant a lot to me, and Citizen cancelling their show and Sorority Noise playing a full set is one of the best things that happened to me in 2017.
So when you show up to my funeral, will you be wearing white or black?
4. Sex - The 1975 - I didn’t realize I listened to this much 1975 this year, lol
Now we’re on the bed in my room, and I’m about to fill his shoes But you say no, you say no
3. Bonfire - Childish Gambino - I listened to this during every workout I did this year, it’s such a pump up song
Tell me how I suck again my memory is hazy
2. Somebody Else - The 1975 - This song sounds like Depeche Mode and I am in love with it. It’s so pretty, and my sister and I would listen to it together all of the time.
I’m looking through you while you’re looking through your phone and then leaving with somebody else I don’t want your body, but I hate to think about you with somebody else
1. Cutting My Fingers Off - Turnover - Let the record show that if Michael and I ever break up, you can find me on my bedroom floor listening to this on an endless loop
To make you go, to make you go, I never wanted to make you go You might be a stranger now, but I just wanted to let you know that I meant what I said

@killer-boredom
who throws things in a fight ? : Dandy does because he’s freaking drama in human formwho goes to their parent’s house for a weekend when things get bad ? : Well, Sam doesn’t have any family to go to, and Dandy likes to avoid his mother at all costs unless it suits him so....neither really. They prefer each other’s company to pretty much anyone else’s.who wants to have children ? who doesn’t ? if both do, how do their goals differentiate ? : Sam definitely loves the idea of kids and has always been very family oriented. Dandy is a bit more on the fence about it, but the idea of having a family with Sam appeals to this weirdly domestic impulse in him. He swears it’s something only Sam could bring out in him.who is more adverse to physical contact ? : Honestly, they would have their hand on each other at all times if they could so neither...maybe Sam a little bit since Dandy does occasionally get on his nerves about initiating intimacy, but I don’t think that really counts.who hates/dislikes their neighbors the most ? : Dandy. He’s a very nosey neighbor and is always telling Sam what they’re up to. What a little snoop.who hates/dislikes their significant other’s family ? : Sam doesn’t hate Gloria exactly...he just finds her incredibly unnerving and finds her desire to be in Dandy’s business all the time and the way she discredits their relationship makes him more than a little bitter and okay maybe he hates her a little bit.who is most likely to leave when things get rough ? : Neither of them really. Sometimes they need their space to cool down after something, but neither of them is the sort of person to just split.who thinks their partner turned out a different person than they thought ? : Sam. He thought he had Dandy pinned from the moment he saw him, but it turns out there’s more to Dandy than he initially thought. Yes, he’s still a fussy brat, but he’s Sam’s fussy brat who he knows and cares for deeply.who is more likely to cheat ? : Neither of them would ever dream of itwho is the more experienced ( sexually or otherwise ) ? : Sam simply by way of being the older of the twowho hates/dislikes their significant other’s friends ? : Neither of them really have that many friends...Dandy is more likely to get jealous of Sam spending time with other people though. He’s just really needy.who wants to go to social gatherings the most ? : Both of them. While they can be homebodies, they do both going out to see people, though for differing reasons. Sam is a genuinely social person who enjoys getting to know other people. Dandy likes to be seen and loves attention. Still, their favorite people to socialize with at the end of the day are each other.who is most likely to be dishonest ? : Dandy, but usually just little white lies here and there. Also, Sam pretty much always knows when he’s lying, so it’s a futile endeavor.who is more emotionally closed off ? how does this affect their partner ? : Surprisingly, it’s Sam. He likes to project a lot of happiness and warmth and as such often shelves his own negative emotions. He takes care of those around him, but caring for himself can occasionally be difficult for him. It worries Dandy to death quite honestly. He knows Sam is doing it as a means of putting him first, but he wants to be able to be there for him too. It’s just hard to be when he doesn’t always try to talk about it.who is the dessert person ? : Dandy. Dandy is hands down the ultimate dessert person.who is more conservative ? : In terms of being down to earth it’s definitely Samwho hates/dislikes oral sex ? : I’m sorry, they don’t understand the question

A/N: Here’s another chapter for you guys! I hope you like cliff hangers haha the next will be up on Friday~
Chapter 3
The night air was cool and crisp as Gloria sat on top of the picnic bench, staring off into the courtyard as the stars twinkled above her in the clear night sky. The groans and snarls of walkers in the far distance were drowned out by Daryl’s footsteps as he made his way to the bench, a bottle of water and a plate of food in his hands. He sets the plate and bottle on the table and sits down beside Gloria.
“Brought ya some dinner, Carol made it.” Daryl says when she doesn’t greet him.
She glances at him, “thanks...” she says in a small voice.
“Ya alright?” he asks, looking at her with concern.
She nods, “with how everything’s going, I gotta be.”
“Wha’ d’ya mean?” Daryl frowns, confused.
“When you guys wheeled in Hershel like that today, everyone panicked, no one knew what to do. I had to step up and take charge.” She sighs, “I’m glad he’s fine now, but I hate how much pressure it puts on me that I had Hershel’s life and literally his blood on my hands.”
Daryl looks down at her hands, noticing that she didn’t bother cleaning any of the now dried blood off them. He takes the red rag he keeps with him out of his back pocket and grabs the water bottle, opening it and pouring some water on the rag. He takes Gloria’s hands in his and starts to wipe the blood off, trying to clean her hands and arms as best he can. Gloria doesn’t say anything nor does she resist, she just watches him.
“Ya shouldn’ have that kind of pressure on ya. I get why ya do, but I wish ya didn’ have to.” Daryl says, not looking up at her as he continues wiping.
A small smile pulls at her lips, “thank you. I’ll be okay though, it’s what I signed up for when I decided to become a doctor anyway.”
“The world is different now, ya don’t gotta be a doctor anymore.” Daryl tells her.
“If I didn’t do what I did today, Hershel would have died!” Gloria snaps at him, her emotions taking over her.
“Well he didn’t ‘cause o’ what ya did.” he says as he looks at her in the eyes, “ya can do yer job but forget the burden that comes with it.”
“I really wish it were that easy,” she sighs and looks down before continuing, “when I worked in the hospital, the doctors always felt a sense of responsibility for their patients and whenever anything went wrong, or in the worst case that they died, they’d carry that with them for the rest of their lives. But that never stopped them from doing their jobs and trying to save others.”
She smiles sadly and wipes a tear away from her face, “I should just suck it up. Hershel’s alive and I should be happy instead of moping around like this.”
Daryl wraps his arm around Gloria’s shoulders, “ya don’t have to hold onto that burden yerself, ya got me to lean on if ya wan’.” he tells her shyly.
Gloria looks at him, smiling at him gratefully then leans on him, her head on his shoulder. They sit together in silence for a moment, the only sounds being crickets and groans from the walkers outside the fences.
“I don’t want ya goin’ anywhere near Cell Block D,” Daryl starts, “we found some prisoners in the cafeteria today, lettin’ ‘em stay in that cell block, but they’re-”
“They’re dangerous, I know.” Gloria finishes his sentence, “like you said before, I’m not a nurse anymore, I’ve got no reason to help prisoners. Especially if they’re a threat to us.”
Daryl nods, “I heard one of ‘em say they were in put in here for murder.”
“Why didn’t Rick just kill them, then?” Gloria questions.
He shrugs at that, “Guess it’s ‘cause they haven’t done shit to us yet.”
“It’s only a matter of time before they do,” she sighs and she feels Daryl nodding in agreement, “are you gonna be near them?”
“If I gotta be.” Daryl says simply.
“Be careful.” Gloria tells him to which Daryl hums in acknowledgement.
Another moment of silence passes by them as Gloria’s words of concern remind Daryl of his conversation with Glenn just a few hours ago. He chuckles at the memory making Gloria look up at him, an eyebrow raised as she looks at him questioningly.
“Ya know, yer brother talked to me 'bout ya today?” Daryl says with a side smile.
This news causes Gloria to groan as she sits up, “God, he didn’t give you the big brother talk, did he?” she asks in embarrassment.
He chuckles at her reaction, “Nah, he just said that if I did anything to piss ya off ya’d kill me.”
“Well, he’s not wrong.” Gloria smirks then lightly nudges him, making him scoff at her.
Daryl glances behind him, remembering that he brought Gloria dinner, “hey, ya haven’t eaten at all, have ya?”
She blinks at him then shakes her head, “I forgot, I guess.”
He shakes his head as he takes the plate and passes it to her. She gratefully takes it and starts to eat, humming happily at the meal.
“Ain’t it cold by now?” Daryl eyes her as she eats.
“It’s Carol’s cooking, it’s good even if it’s cold.” she grins at him and Daryl rolls his eyes at her.
“We should head back in when ya done, it’s gettin’ late and chilly.” he tells her.
Gloria nods as she eats, enjoying the food and company of Daryl. It isn’t long until she finishes her dinner but she doesn’t say anything, wanting to spend a little more time with him outside under the stars. She couldn’t deny it anymore, her feelings for him were growing more and more as each day passed.
---
The next morning, Rick, Daryl, T-Dog, and Carol all went out to the courtyard to clean up the bodies of walkers. Daryl looks around for Glenn but doesn’t see him anywhere.
“Yo, where’s Glenn, could use some extra hands.” he questions to no one in particular.
“I think he spent the night in the watchtower.” Carol tells him.
“Watchtower?” Daryl looks at her then up at said tower, “Yo, Glenn!”
The others look up at the guard tower as they see movement in the windows. A shirtless Glenn comes out of the tower, awkwardly struggling to zip up his pants.
“H-Hey guys!” he says, completely embarrassed, “w-what’s up?”
“Ya comin’?” Daryl grins.
“What?” Glenn says as he pulls on his shirt.
He chuckles then repeats himself, “Ya comin?”
“Oh, y-yeah! Hang on!” Glenn, now fully clothed, rushes down the guard tower to help the group clear the bodies.
Gloria walks out from the prison building, making her way to the fence as she watches the group load up bodies onto the back of one of their trucks. She waves at Daryl who’s now sitting on the back of the truck as they start driving out of the courtyard to dispose of the bodies. He raises his arm, waving back at her. Gloria watches them leave then wanders around the prison walls. She frowns as she spots a shadow going around the corner of the prison.
“Carl?” she calls out, wondering if it was the boy sneaking around the place as she knew how much he loved to explore.
When she doesn't get any response, she rounds the corner but gets even more confused when she doesn’t see any sign that anyone was here. Gloria tilts her head in confusion, there wasn’t even a walker in the area.
“Did I really just hallucinate?” she chuckles at herself.
Shrugging, she decides to go back to the picnic bench and sit there to wait for the others, but before she could turn around, she feels something move quickly behind her. Unable to react in time, Gloria feels a blunt pain to the back of her head. Her vision goes blurry and she falls to the ground and blacks out.
---
When Gloria comes to, she finds herself in a cell. The back of her head thumps with a dull pain. Getting up, she looks around and finds that the cell wasn’t hers. In the hallway outside the cell, there are people talking, or rather yelling at each other, voices that she couldn’t recognise.
“We shouldn't be doing this, Tomas! Just let the girl go!”
“Shut up, Oscar! You’ll get a chance with her too, so don’t worry, yeah?” the man, Tomas, sneers at the larger man, Oscar.
“Yeah, we deserve this anyway. Those assholes think they can just come in here and take our cell block from us like they own the place? Hell nah! They owe us this much at least!” another voice chimes in.
Oscar shakes his head, “this still isn’t right...”
Judging from their conversation, the men outside were the prisoners Rick had found in the cafeteria and the girl they were talking about had to be Gloria. Instinctively, she reaches down to grab a dagger from her belt but finds that her belt had been removed from her. Looking around the cell, she finds it empty as well. She’d have to rely on her fists with this one.
“Finally awake?” Tomas says as he walks into the doorway of the cell, blocking light that was coming into the cell.
Gloria looks up at him and recognises Tomas as the man who smirked at her the day Rick had found them. Knowing that she’s outnumbered, Gloria decided it was best for her to play dumb. She nods at his comment and gets up from the bed.
“Yeah, now that I’m up, I’m just gonna head back to my cell block. Thanks for helping me out there.” Gloria forces a smile on her face and attempts to walk past Tomas.
Of course, he doesn’t let her through, holding an arm up to stop her from moving further, “I don’t think so.”
Gloria looks him dead in the eye, not showing any fear of the man, “please, don’t make me have to hurt you.”
Rather than taking her words as a threat, Tomas laughs at her, amused. His laughter causes the smaller man on the outside of the cell to also snicker.
“Oh princess,” Tomas shakes his head, “you ain’t gonna do nothing to me.”
Her blood boils when he challenges her and doubts her words. She lets out a small breath and quickly swings her arm, punching Tomas in the face, making him stumble back. Gloria’s about to walk out of the cell when she hears the cocking of a gun. She looks to the smaller man and sees that he’s holding a gun to her. Tomas snarls as he gets back up, wiping the blood from his now split lip with the back of his hand.
“Oh, now you’ve just pissed me the fuck off, you bitch.” Tomas glares at her, rage and fury in his eyes.
She looks at him then glances at the man holding the gun to her and she just laughs, “you two are just pathetic, you gotta rely on a gun to take me down, a girl no less. What kind of men are you?”
Gloria knew that provoking them wasn’t the smartest thing to do, hell, she knew it was probably one of the dumbest things to do since they were holding her at gunpoint. Something inside her though told her that the man with the gun wasn’t going to shoot her, they didn’t want to kill her, they wanted to do ‘other’ things to her and they couldn’t risk doing that with her dead. From what she learned in the past, she had to get them riled up and angry because people generally didn’t think well on their feet when they were angry.
“I’ll show you what kind of man I am.” Tomas growls at her then quickly lunges towards her.
He tackled her with all of his body weight so that even as Gloria tried to push him off her, she wasn’t able to as he was too heavy. Fuck, she did not expect this. She landed with her back on the bed and Tomas on top of her, gripping her wrists with one large hand, he pins her arms above her head, making it even harder for her to move under his body.
“Fuck you! Let me go!” Gloria screams, struggling and squirming from under him.
Tomas growls as she struggles, as if her struggling only excites him more. He forcefully leans down and starts roughly kissing and biting Gloria’s neck and chest, causing her to scream more.
“Tomas, stop!” Oscar shouts from outside the cell, but he’s unable to do anything else as the man with a gun points his gun at him.
“You shut up, or I’ll have to shoot you too!” he threatens.
Oscar watches helplessly, feeling guilt as he anxiously looks to the door of the cell block, “come on, Axel...”
