BARKINGN WOOF WOOWF DOES HE LIKE DOGS?? I CAN BARK!! GOOD HEAVENS MR. RECA. MISTER MISTER!! HELLOOO SAILORRRR!!
cough cough, my apologies for that outburst but here are my thinking thoughts on Mr. Reca..
Thinking of him holding you in a headlock to make sure the camera could capture your face. Maybe press down on your tongue with some of his fingers so the camera can capture those lil mewls and such.
He loves to keep going until he sees that doe-eyed blank stare you get whenever he goes too far. Face tear-stained while you drool mindlessly against his fingers. In fact, he always tries to get that one clip in whenever he wants to record(which is always.)
Bondage but it's him tying you up with old film from your previous commercial/scenes of you in other movies. Just so he can see the before and after his special films. He loves you dearly, look at how footage he kept of you from your previous acts!!
(Also on a more romantic topic, thinking him of making roses out of his favorite film tapes of you on the first date. You don't know because it's pitch black but they're actually from the films that you have acted as a romantic love interest. He's very sweet..when he's not insane me think.)
I passed out…Mr. Reca…his movie-related kink, and the way he expressed his love…😩💖💖💖
Tumblr media
cw: yandere, dub-con, obsession, humiliation, oral sex, ooc because the official plot has not been released yet
Headlock may be a little rough, but that's the way to get your face on camera! He enjoys making low-budget movies for his own entertainment, without any regard for commerce but only his art and desires. The camera is right in front of you. Are you a little too shy? His arms were draped across your neck, holding your face in place as you bounced on his cock. Now you can't avoid the camera no matter what. He presses his thumb against your tongue as you swallow those sobs. No reason to hide them!
Mr. Reca doesn't show restraint. He pushes you to your limits to see how far you can go. Disappointing that you only need 5-6 orgasms to be brainless. The dazed look on your face is priceless (eyes melting out of focus, tears all over your face, and trembling legs. No quick reaction, just a subconscious whimper as your lips wrap around the cock). He often fails to part with these precious films and adds plots that have no obvious connection. In a movie about human loneliness in the universe, the scene of your orgasm is played. This is what happens at film festivals and cinemas. Anyway, if the audience complains, he will say it is a montage.
He keeps every movie that includes you. Those are his treasures. Even with the technology here, he still keeps these physical movie discs in his collection box. There are handwritten marks on it, such as: "1:15:32 blowjob part", "A must-see during the holidays", "3 hours without breaks version" and so on.
This stems from Mr. Reca's romantic moment. He created a CD collection of movies about you, decorated with fresh flowers and a cosmic gemstone.
Tucked inside is a card:
"To my favorite actor, legend, and sun. (Beautiful cursive writing, but at the last word, the person who wrote it seemed a little emotional, and the ink melted) Only when the sun shines on him, the moon will glow.”

Hades can be a possible Ashwini-coded character as well because I remember a viral tweet from years ago (which must be deleted because I can't find it) fancasting Ashwini Moon Benedict Cumberbatch and possible Ashwini native Tom Hiddleston as the Disney version.
Tumblr media
link to thread
Tumblr media
Also from his facial features alone, he reminds me of Ashwini Suns Peter Capaldi & Al Pacino and Ashwini ASC B.J. Novak. He just has those nodal eyes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ashwini Sun James Woods voiced Disney's Hades.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He has those eyes as well. Of course, not every Ashwini native will inherit nodal eyes. I mean, just look at Cumberbatch. He's got those cat eyes from his Punarvasu Sun, but the fancasting of him as Hades may be due to the Ashwini energy these fans have unconsciously picked up on.
edit: it's been almost six years already.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ashwini Sun Peter Capaldi looking like Ashwini Moon Hugh Grant btw!
Ashwini is commonly symbolized by horses, known for its speed, unpredictability, tricky, and quick-witted nature. Disney Hades' rapid mood swings, his energetic scheming, his swift decision-making, and fast-talking personality captures the speedy essence of this nakshatra. Also, his ability to switch from *sunshine* charming to downright menacing in seconds mirrors the extremely charming and dualistic nature of Ashwini, which further connects to the "con-man" archetype. I mean, Hades quite literally works to scam Hercules in the animation story.
Tumblr media
Ketu = detachment, isolation, and the hidden. Hades, being the ruler of the Underworld, is literally detached from the world of the living, governing a realm that most avoid out of fear. Another Ketu characteristic is his apathy, sarcasm, and plain disinterest in Olympus' social order — aligning with Ketu's nonconformist and outcast vibe. Also with Ketuvians, they're never outcasts because it's cool. They deeply don't care, and they can't help that they don't care even if they try to, which is sometimes devastating. But anyway, Hades vibes with nobody but himself.
Tumblr media
The combination of Ketu with the fire element can manifest an explosive temper and impatience. He embodies this with his frequent fiery outbursts. His blue flames can symbolize Ketu's spiritual fire, which burns away illusions and reveals the truth beneath.
Tumblr media
I'm certain James Woods' Hades highlights Ashwini because of this Hades' restlessness. Ashwini influence brings a desire for adventure and freedom due to the Mars rulership, Ketu heightening the Mars influence from its sucking receptivity alone. Hades is frustrated with his confined role in the Underworld, wanting power beyond his realm. I made a post with Ketu nakshatra characters being power-hungry, but I didn't mention more on how this is just simply related to these fire signs' quest for liberation. So the internal poverty of Ketuvians also indicates inward suffering & obsession (due to lack), which is why they may embody very destructive power-hungry tendencies. It's due to the unconscious, authentic desire for liberation, manifesting in all the wrong ways.
Tumblr media
Mula Moon Lena Headey as the fearsome, power-hungry Cersei Lannister.
Dhanistha Sun Susan Egan voices Meg in Hercules, and Hades uses her as a tool to get what he wants. Their dynamic echoes this post I made regarding some Mars nakshatra x Ketu nakshatra duos I've seen. Often the Ketuvian is behind the actions of the Martian, who works as their footsoldier for something grand.
Tumblr media
even the way he talks is that of a con-artist.
More fancastings
Magha Moon Bob Odenkirk as Hades.
Tumblr media
Bottom three are all possible Ashwini natives. Tom Hiddleston, James Woods, Hugh Grant etc.
Speaking of Magha nakshatra, Magha Moon Cheyenne Jackson played Hades as well.
Tumblr media
Someone fancasted Mula Moon Gerard Butler as Hades too.
Tumblr media
Mula Sun Ralph Fiennes also played Hades!
Tumblr media
This reminds me of the film Meet Joe Black, starring Brad Pitt, with Mula Sun, who plays DEATH himself.
Tumblr media
Anthony Hopkins, the star of the film, who has Mula Moon, plays a man who Death guides to the afterlife through friendship.
Tumblr media
Like Hades of Greek myth, the realm that Hela rules is the Underworld. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Hela is portrayed by Ashwini Moon native Cate Blanchett.
Tumblr media
In Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Hela Lokidottir had been voiced by the Ashwini Moon native Nika Futterman.

The Interweaving of Desmond & Eloise
an analysis on how they have been established as a pair
Tumblr media
Collection of all essays so far
At the stage we are currently at, the end of chapter one with around thirteen hours of content to watch and even more outside of direct canon to examine, Desmond and Eloise have established themselves as a pair in a similar vein to Damon and Eva or Mark and Jett. Their pairing feels obviously deliberate and indicative of deeper meaning, which we’ll no doubt see more of as the game proceeds. In this essay I want to cohesively lay out all of my current thoughts on them - developed from TikTok posts I have made (x / x / x) with other newer points from my notes that do not appear in said posts.
While I personally enjoy their relationship in a romantic context, this is not intended as a ship post, and you are of course free to interpret it how you like. It’s just looking at how they relate to each other as characters and their canon relationship and giving my thoughts on what that means for them! Regardless of how you interpret the context of their relationship, that these two are being set up as close is undeniable.
SPOILERS FOR CHAPTER ONE AHEAD!
Firstly, I want to establish the significance of pairs in Project: Eden’s Garden overall. So much about the game circles back to pairs: the killing game ‘officially’ ending when only two remain, everyone waking up in pairs, Toshiko being the Ultimate Matchmaker, Tozu and Mara being a pair, bunking in pairs, splitting off into pairs… and much of this can be put down to the theming of the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve. With everyone’s animal motifs, another Biblical story in Noah’s Ark comes to mind. The point is that the abundance of pairs is both relevant and very deliberate.
Fundamental design
From the moment we first see them in the train CG, Desmond and Eloise are together. When we first formally meet them, they are the only ones in the courtyard. They are a pair from the beginning in the same way as Mark and Jett and Wolfgang and Grace.
And, on first looks and first meetings, I’ll begin my thoughts on how they as individual characters relate to each other as foils with their visual designs and names. Being fictional characters, there was an entire design process filled with intent that went into creating them, and I really think Desmond and Eloise were created with the other in mind to make them both contrast and complement each other.
Their contrasting colour schemes of blue and black VS red and white immediately relate them to one another and put them in proximity of one another. Through their colour schemes they have been designed to be seen next to each other.
It is also their colour schemes that give instant insight into how they contrast each other in personality. Desmond’s blue suits his cool, composed disposition, his observant nature and how, although he is more reserved, he still integrates with the group and is a primary contributor. Throughout the situation and throughout all the suspicion he endures based on his talent, Desmond remains calm, in part, I think, because he knows he cannot afford to appear angry lest it confirm people’s biases. Considering how prominent that idea of prejudice has been with Desmond so far, I also heavily doubt him being designed as Black is coincidental or without connotations. Especially when you consider just how irrational the suspicion and assumptions placed upon him are.
(Desmond’s third Free Time Event, talking about how difficult a confined space like the academy is for him) Damon, internally: And yet, that cool demeanour of his never falters - even when talking about his situation. Is this what he means when he talks about discipline…?
Conversely, Eloise’s red speaks to her being more volatile - prone to outbursts of fear, panic and, notably, rage. It is interesting to me that Eloise’s colour scheme is primarily white/grey, with her reds as secondary and, in her clothing, beneath her uniform. But her eyes, the “windows to the soul”, are red. Eloise at first impression seems only timid, and this leads both characters and audience alike to assume that she is weak, and she is also reserved and rather closed off especially in conversation with the likes of Damon. But Eloise has a strong fortitude that manifests later in chapter one as she gains confidence in the setting - standing up to and threatening Grace, leading the accusations towards Grace in the trial, and her Free Time Events most notably. Her red is closed off until triggered. Damon notes that “the most confident she’s ever sounded” is when she’s expressing her belief that the runners of the killing game should receive the death penalty which so starkly contrasts with Desmond’s focus on resolving things peacefully. Similarly to Desmond being Black, I also heavily doubt that Eloise being designed as fat is without connotations regarding this theme.
The meanings of their names push this even more blatantly. Desmond’s name is of Anglo-Saxon origin and means “Great defender” which adds to how spelled out the theme of guarding, protection, defence becomes in his character during chapter one - notably in relation to himself and Eloise. In his blackmail, which I will go into in more detail later, it explicitly says he “guards the only one he trusts”. This defence finds contrast with offence in Eloise’s name being of French and Teutonic origin meaning “Fierce warrior” which speaks to how assertive she becomes when pushed. Her Free Time Events serve as good indication with how she says outright to Damon that she plans to fight back if targeted for murder and expresses anger when he starts “prying into [her] personal life” in an outburst of “It’s none of your f-fucking business!”. Down to their names they present as foils.
Linking to this talk on personalities and first impressions is how these two contrast in how they are perceived by other characters and audience alike - their shared theme of “judging a book by its cover”.
While Eloise has a talent centred around combat and wielding a blade, she is not nearly suspected the same way Desmond is due to her appearance as pale and soft in conjunction with her timidity, with the decision to make her fat adding to this as well. She is actually afforded first impressions based on personality, where Desmond is instead defined by potential threat in his marksmanship - the first thing Wolfgang ever says to him is, “With all of those weapons, I must ask…you…haven’t killed anyone, have you?”, and Eva’s belief that everyone is out to get her and have marked her as an easy target merges with preconceived notions about Desmond’s character and talent to lead her to assert that telling Desmond about his blackmail could “put [her] in danger”.  Contrasingly, in building up to their confrontation of Grace, Damon perceives Eloise as “bumbling”, “uncoordinated”, and not of “any help in a verbal shutdown”, and he proceeds to be utterly proven wrong - with the use of “uncoordinated” in reference to the Ultimate Fencer giving great indication of his poor judge of character. This contrast, then, makes it notable how they stick together and understand each other in a way others do not.
(RE his bunking idea: Eloise understands what Desmond’s intentions are while others assume ill of him) Cassidy: I mean - hey, don’t expose us! That’s unfair! Desmond: Hold on, I’m not trying to expose anyone…! Eloise: Um, I think I get what he’s trying to say. Eloise: You just want everyone to be honest with each other…so we can cover all our bases…right? Desmond: Yeah…that’s right… (During the chapter one investigation as Grace guards Wolfgang’s room and denies everyone entry) Desmond: That’s what I tried telling everyone else, but they pretty much gave up. Jett and Mark went to the dining hall, Diana went to the laundry room, and Toshiko and Ingrid went to the courtyard.  Desmond: Eloise and I, though…we’re not gonna let this slide.
When going through their Free Time Events, it becomes clear that Desmond and Eloise even contrast each other when it comes to their backgrounds and honing of their talents. Desmond comes from a notably wealthy family who have a history of Ultimate Marksmen - that talent being as hereditary as literal genetics. From the start, Desmond has been showered in opportunity - he mentions having an expansive field that puts the academy’s courtyard to shame, a personal shooting range, a personal tennis court, and a personal swimming pool. He used to attend competitions on a local and regional scale until he got the opportunity to compete in the Olympics.
Comparatively, Eloise had no such influence when it came to getting into fencing and simply joined a club and her honing of her talent was defined by a lack of opportunity. She rose through the ranks via forfeits - her opponents were so afraid they point-blank refused to fight her and so she had to take matters of improving into her own hands by practicing alone or with her teacher. Her lack of opportunity stems from how her family is certainly not as well-off as Desmond’s and she comments on giving her prize money to her mother and sisters. This is a point of similarity between the two - they both disregard the money they have earned through their talent for themselves and instead place focus on their families. Desmond cares more about making his parents proud, and Eloise cares more about giving the money to her family.
Beyond every aspect in how Desmond and Eloise foil each other is how similar thematically they are in a way that allows them to understand and trust one another in a way they don’t seem to lend to anyone else. They understand that the other is perceived by strangers in a way that doesn’t necessarily align with their fully realised selves, Desmond’s calmness soothes Eloise’s volatility, Eloise’s sword takes the front while Desmond’s guns and bows take the rear - they are an inversion of each other and interwoven as a pair.
To finish off with their fundamental designs, official art for Project: Eden’s Garden is, in my opinion, interesting to look at. Desmond and Eloise are depicted next to or interacting in some way with each other in every piece of official art they share which pushes them further as a ‘pair’. It really emphasises how rarely in-game they’re apart - with the only instances of that being during nighttime, every free-time after the first one, and most prominently the Prologue’s investigation. Otherwise, they are always at least in the proximity of each other. I don’t think official art and seeing which characters appear together the most and how exactly they are interacting is insignificant at all - two sets of Halloween official art stand out to me as entwining Desmond and Eloise by their talents. In one, Desmond is dressed as Link from the Legend of Zelda and wielding a blade and, in the other, Eloise is dressed as Artemis from Greek Mythology - the Goddess of the Hunt who was known for her archery, a choice that becomes especially interesting once you remember that Artemis’ fellow archer brother, Apollo, was heavily associated with swans.
Blackmail, blackmail
Tumblr media
“With his weapons at hand, Desmond guards the only one he trusts.”
Since I posted my initial interpretations of this on TikTok, I’ve seen more discussion on it, and I don’t think it is controversial at all to suggest that the “only one” referred to here is Eloise. The only other options, to me, are this “only one” being someone outside of our main cast or Desmond himself. However, I have found myriad evidence that points towards it being Eloise that I’ve spread across different videos on TikTok but can now relay all in one place here.
First, what is meant by “weapons”? As the Ultimate Marksman, Desmond has access to guns and bows in the literal meaning of that and this is how Eva, Damon and everyone else interprets it. It is also true - Desmond is always depicted with his quiver slung over his back, so he does indeed have his weapons at hand. However, there is another way of looking at this - Desmond’s “weapons” do not have to be literal.
During chapter one’s trial, Grace admonishes everyone for “trusting Desmond so easily” after he defends himself from accusations based on the taser gun and Damon has the option of commenting on Desmond’s charisma that persuades people to trust him (or… “charm” as he puts it). Desmond’s “weapons” could refer to his rhetoric, especially with how he utilises the angle of ethos in comparison with Damon’s logos and Diana’s pathos - that being, focusing on getting across and defending his character, something that as previously discussed Desmond is exhaustively used to doing. His “guard” could manifest in him coming to this “only one”’s defence in verbal bouts just as much as it can be taken literally, something that we have in fact already seen if you subscribe to the idea of that person being Eloise.
Next, the meaning of “trusts” should be dug into. It is easy to assume that because Desmond behaves cordially with everyone and seems to possess a vested interest in getting everyone out of the killing game and to safety this means he is openly trusting in the way Diana is, but there is a lot once you start looking that proves otherwise. Desmond does not vehemently deny the possibility of murder like Wolfgang or Diana do but instead accepts the reality of their situation and approaches it with the knowledge of murder in his mind. He is against exploring the Alpha Sanctuary due to whatever Tozu has hidden within it, he takes note of the dangers of the pharmacy and what drugs could possibly be used to murder - even saying that “we should all start paying more attention to our food” - and is the one to come up with the bunk buddies idea due to the broken locks. Desmond does not trust that his peers absolutely will not be tempted by murder. Most illuminating is during his second Free Time Event when Damon tries to use the trustworthiness of the other students as a debate topic and Desmond becomes noticeably uneasy and closed off.
Damon: How about… we debate the trustworthiness of the other students? Desmond: Huh…? What do you mean? Damon: Isn’t it self-explanatory? You and I argue about whether or not the others are trustworthy. Desmond: Uh… I don’t know, dude. I’m not really comfortable with that. Damon: Why? Desmond: W-what do you mean why? I can’t just say my… (own emphasis) Desmond: I mean, I can’t just throw doubt at people for no reason.
Despite this, he still wants said peers to trust him. His motivation to escape the killing game and prevent murder, I believe, is genuine - however, he remains beneath the veil of hypocrisy in how he expects everyone to trust him without him trusting them.
So, how does this link to Eloise?
From the prologue, the theme of Eloise and Desmond being each other’s alibis and backing each other up is established. Wolfgang asks Desmond to keep a shaken Eloise company and he does so for the duration of all the other introductions. When the fake body of Cara is discovered, Eloise insists that she heard no screaming from the courtyard nor did anyone run out, and calls on Desmond to back her up, which he does. This is the first exchange of trust and reliance between them, and it only strengthens during chapter one.
The first major instance is in relation to Desmond’s idea of sleeping in pairs. Knowing his distrust towards his peers and that he has this one person he has an interest in protecting, it is notable both that he would be the one to raise concerns about the broken locks and that he would proceed to input that, “As the one who suggested the idea, I’d say we just pick our buddies ourselves-”. Desmond wanted to choose his bunk buddy, ostensibly so he would be able to more readily “guard” them, and this, I think, is crucial as evidence that the “only one he trusts” is someone among the class. While he doesn’t respond outwardly negatively to Toshiko’s desire to be in charge of the pairs and Ingrid’s subsequent assertion that they split by gender, this is easily explained by how intent he is on maintaining a calm disposition.
Eloise’s behaviour in this scene is equally noteworthy. She defends Desmond from accusations that he’s making people vulnerable and that she harkens to ideas of honesty and understanding Desmond’s intentions speaks to a building closeness between them. Much like Desmond, Eloise appears selective with her trust through how focus is repeatedly placed on her as ways to assign bunk-buddies is discussed, combined with how her character profile notes how she is “always ready to make her escape if anyone gets too close to her”, which I believe can be applied in both a literal-in-regards-to-fencing and figurative sense. We can discern from her Free Time Events that Eloise holds her privacy close to her and that she has certain people that she openly does not trust nor like - she doesn’t want to have a decision like who is going to be with her at her most vulnerable just chosen for her.
Toshiko: Fear not! In all my infinite wisdom and kindness, I shall pair the rest of you! Eloise: Ah… that’s not really necessary… (...) Ingrid: Strangers’ll usually be more comfortable spending the night with the same gender. Eloise: Then… we’re splitting it by gender…? (...) Wolfgang: We won’t have Ms. Kayura’s help, but I’m sure we’ll figure something out. Let’s go. Eloise: …
Furthermore, it does not feel at all coincidental that the scene directly after Desmond’s blackmail is revealed by Eva sees Grace pressuring Eloise to hand over her blackmail and Desmond attempting to defend Eloise before she reassures him. Eloise’s silence after Grace says that she better not have shown anyone speaks volumes - from the map during Free Time and their alibis for the time of Wolfgang’s murder alike we can explicitly see the amount of time these two have been spending around each other in the courtyard.
Grace: That fencer girl has been giving me the side-eye ever since the blackmail was announced. There’s no other explanation! Grace: Give it! Desmond: H-hey, stop that! Eloise: It’s okay…I’ve got it…
On the morning of Wolfgang’s murder, Desmond and Eloise spent all their time together in that courtyard, paralleling their positioning in the prologue. Just as then, they are each other’s alibis and they are the main one backing the other up. They proceed to stay by the other’s side literally throughout the investigation and figuratively throughout the trial. It is notable that textually Grace and Kai underscore how defensive Eloise and Desmond have been of each other throughout chapter one’s investigation and trial to accuse them of working together - ostensibly, Desmond being the murderer and Eloise his accomplice. When the two of them and Damon confront Grace during the investigation, they are largely backing each other up and adding to each other’s points while Damon chips in on his own - even going as far as to threaten Grace, knowing that she was shot at by Mara before.
Eloise: Um…for us to believe that, we need to see it ourselves… Grace: You think I’m lying? Desmond: There’s a chance you could be, unfortunately.  (...) Eloise: Also, um…couldn’t this be considered breaking the rules…? Eloise: Tozu wants this game to be fair, but… being prevented from searching every room doesn’t seem very fair… Grace: …Even if it isn’t, what are you gonna do? Eloise: … Eloise: I’ll…report it to Tozu. Grace: A-ah? Desmond: Nice idea. What do you say we look for him now? Desmond: If Tozu agrees this is sabotage, he might call Mara to help…
In the trial, when Eloise first accuses Grace, Desmond backs her. When Grace’s innocence is proven and Eloise apologises for accusing her, Desmond continues to press Grace when she shouts at Eloise by insisting she “must know something about [Wolfgang’s] last known whereabouts”. When Desmond brings up the golf clothes and equipment in Wolfgang’s room, Eloise backs him. When Mark accuses Desmond of having access to weapons like the taser gun, Eloise reacts before Desmond does. During the nonstop debate about the taser gun, Eloise brings up her and Desmond’s shared alibi as they were together the whole morning. If the player takes the Pathos Route during the trial, it is Eloise’s voicing of her doubts in voting Diana and wanting to hear her side of the story that then leads into Desmond’s own agreement to hear her out. This series of events, I think, proves a degree of trust that has built between the two that they have not extended to anyone else - even during Eva’s execution and Diana’s speech, the two are depicted together.
The nature of Desmond’s blackmail combined with how he and Eloise are written in this chapter as consistent supporters of each other and consistently shown together leads me to be rather firm in my belief at the moment that Eloise is this “only one” his blackmail refers to. Their relationship is given as much focus as Damon and Kai and Wolfgang and Grace, which indicates the importance of it and really, really doesn’t bode well for their survival. My personal speculation at this current moment sees Eloise killing in self-defence, in which instance we will see Desmond’s ‘guard’ come to fruition.
Sharks and swans
Tumblr media
It can’t be a P:EG analysis without looking at the characters’ animal motifs - especially with how chapter one confirmed their relevance with the focus on Wolfgang, Eva and Diana in particular!
Desmond’s animal motif is a shark as represented by his shark’s tooth earring and this is immediately notable in tying into the dominating theme of prejudice and “judging a book by its cover” that has presented itself in contrasting ways in his and Eloise’s characters. Desmond being instinctively assumed to be dangerous and a ‘threat’ due to his position as the Ultimate Marksman directly correlates to how sharks are perceived in the media and, by extension, society. One way his shark motif is relevant lies in how it conveys this theme of being misunderstood.
As previously noted, the first thing Wolfgang ever says to Desmond is an interrogative question about whether or not he has killed someone before, it does not take any amount of mental gymnastics for Eva and Damon to agree Desmond’s blackmail makes him dangerous, and it does not take much convincing for the majority during the trial to agree on his likelihood of murdering Wolfgang due to the taser gun originating from his room. Surely, we are instantly reminded of how sharks are similarly misunderstood as obvious killers due to how they have been negatively sensationalised by the media - leading to a general consensus in society to view them as an inherent threat.
“Sharks have been vilified in human culture for centuries, and negative attitudes toward sharks continue to pervade mass media, perpetuating stereotypes, often conveying inaccurate information [7–11]. One way the public’s fear of sharks, which resonates deeply and viscerally, manifests itself is a pervasive overestimation of the likelihood of being ‘attacked’” (Andrew Nosal et al, 2016, The Effect of Background Music in Shark Documentaries on Viewers' Perceptions of Sharks, p.2)
Eva asserts that Desmond finding out about her having his blackmail could make her a target and, generally, the other characters are quick to assume ill intention from him. For example, him bringing up how everyone’s locks to their dorms are broken raises accusations of him exposing people and him testing people’s locks sparks similar reaction - with Wolfgang even denying him future agency by saying Desmond should go to him first.
Desmond’s shark motif combines with how his talent is perceived to beg us as viewers to deconstruct assumptions of him being this ticking time bomb waiting to explode - to pick apart preconceived notions, examine what makes you think that way and why. It is simultaneously fascinating and frustrating to see predictions from fans about how the rest of the game will play out position Desmond as an ‘obvious’ killer due to his marksmanship and because his animal motif is an apex predator painted as a “man-eating monster” by the media, ignoring how his talent has been handled thus far and contributing to the dominating narrative about sharks that does not reflect reality.
The majority of shark attacks on humans are results of curiosity bites on the shark’s end or mistaking humans for, say, seals. In personifying sharks and acting as if they have the same moral decision making as humans and go out of their way to maim and kill, they have become severely endangered themselves. In an article on shark conservation that analysed how sharks are portrayed in American and Australian media, it was identified that there were “four types of risks from sharks and fourteen types of risks to sharks in the articles” and that “Forty-four percent of the articles mentioned elevated public risk perceptions or fear of sharks” (Bret Muter et al, 2012, Australian and U.S. News Media Portrayal of Sharks and Their Conservation, Conservation Biology, Vol.27, No.1, p.190), which is to say that humans are more of a risk to sharks on the whole than sharks are to humans such as through overfishing, finning and habitat destruction and that this can directly parallel the ‘attacks’ on his character that Desmond has endured so far in the story.
In direct contrast in this respect, there is Eloise and her swan motif represented by her hairpin. The dominating cultural perspective on swans is that they are uniquely beautiful and elegant, they are symbols of purity and aristocracy and are a protected species in many countries including the US, UK and across the whole of the European Union. This places them at the utter opposite end of a general consensus scale to sharks and their features in popular culture reflects this from Hans Christian Andersen’s Ugly Duckling fairy tale to Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake ballet.
Swan Lake is of particular note to me due to its duality of the white and black swan that can be applied to Eloise’s characterisation. Through her white clothing, fencer-defined elegance, and timid demeanour, Eloise brings to mind Odette the white swan - or the Swan Princess - who was cursed to be a swan by day and woman by night and who is revered for her beauty and purity. Contrastingly we have Odile, who impersonates Odette while she is bound to her swan form and is the ‘black swan’ - more conniving and wicked. Traditionally, Odette and Odile are roles performed by the same ballerina and so represent this idea of duality even more. Now, Eloise is neither conniving nor wicked, but she certainly is not the ‘Odette’ that people perceive her as on a surface level, and has assertive and, really, quite aggressive talons that unsheathe when she deems necessary.
(Eloise’s first Free Time Event, unprovoked) Eloise: If…if you ever try to do something to me… Eloise: …then…I’m going to fight back.  (...) Eloise: Once, I completely overpowered a person using just a pen… Eloise: And, uh…if you don’t believe me… Eloise: …I…can give you a taste of what that person felt.
Additionally tied to this is the Medieval moralist view on swans as symbolic of hypocrisy. The idea stems from Hugh of Fouilloy’s Aviarium where he asserts that swans’ white plumage concealing their supposedly black flesh is reflective of a sinner who conceals their sins with a faux pious front…this line of thinking of “white = morality, black = immorality” is notoriously flawed and susceptible to challenge, and this specific idea alluding to black flesh even more obviously so. However, as a spiritual Christian belief, it is relevant when considering Project: Eden’s Garden not least because the game’s religious allusions ask us to question the very concept of Eden and how Western institutions use religious imagery - especially in how they distort it and use it for their own narrative. Every image of nature in the academy being artificial highlights this. Thus, this old idea about swans and hypocrisy may be taken into account… it is not so much direct hypocrisy that relates to Eloise, but the theme of appearance not reflecting reality and a warning to “not to be deceived by outward appearances” (Natalie Jayne Goodison, Introducing the Medieval Swan, p.12). Eloise’s character profile outright tells us to “not be deceived” (by her “size”, but this can apply generally).
And this neatly leads into the fact that swans themselves, despite their innocent and pure iconography, are fierce - especially when it comes to defending themselves or their nests. As Aristotle puts it in his (outdated by over two millennia yet still incredibly interesting) work The History of Animals, “[swans] will repel the attack and get the better of their assailant, but they are never the first to attack” (Trans. D’Arcy Wentworth Thompson, 9.12) and Eloise explicitly references this in her fight against her own underestimation and to combat the perception of her as weak both in form and fortitude. Despite what Damon believes, I refute the idea that Eloise’s volatility makes her emotionally weak because chapter one’s trial proves otherwise as does chapter one’s investigation that instantly sees Eloise disprove Damon’s idea of her. Speaking of Damon, it is interesting how he comes to respect and almost understand Desmond who is misunderstood as a threat by others much like himself, but cannot extend the same to Eloise whom he has no axis of relatability to.
“Still, it is significant that the administrative and agricultural experts voiced concern that aesthetic, cultural, and sentimental ideas about swans guide the birds’ protection in a strange or illogical way, and the resources expert agreed that the main—if not the only—value associated with continued protection of the whooper is sentimental value.” (Shauna Laurel Jones, 2018, Feathered majesty in the grainfield? Conflict, conservation, and the whooper swan in Iceland, p.39)
Desmond’s shark motif presenting through a shark tooth earring is not merely an aesthetic choice and instead possesses symbolic connotations. It is the choice in his design of a shark tooth earring that allows us to connect indigenous beliefs about sharks to his characterisation, as in indigenous Hawai’ian culture, shark teeth are traditionally worn as protective talismans, and certain species of sharks in indigenous Hawai’ian culture also relate to the concept of ‘aumakua’ where under certain conditions a deceased person is reincarnated as a shark and acts as a “beneficent guardian spirit” (Leighton R. Taylor, 1993, Sharks of Hawai’i: their biology and cultural significance, p.19) towards their family, both of which link to the increasingly potent theme of “guard[ing]” in Desmond’s character.
Similarly, we find ideas of “guard[ing]” with the swan, especially the idea of being guarded. Most blatant is the fact that swans are a protected species in many particularly Western countries such as the United Kingdom, the United States, France, Denmark, Germany, and Iceland, meaning it is illegal to kill or injure them. In a literary sense, we have the Finnish national epic Kalevala wherein the hero Lemminkäinen is tasked with killing a swan that swims and sings in the Lake of Tuonela that surrounds the underworld, but instead he is killed - not textually because he has attempted to kill a swan, but the context of swans as a protected species and how they are symbolically viewed certainly influences this narrative.
However, as a point of contrast, while sharks can be associated with life in the sense of survival and their integral position in ecosystems, keeping them intact, swans are associated overwhelmingly with death. Firstly examining the former, it is notable to me that Desmond’s animal motif is one heavily concerned with conservation efforts to protect against endangerment and extinction, conditions that are in no small part due to human impact. When one sees apex predator their mind tends to swipe to violence, to these creatures being bloodthirsty, instead of taking it for what it really is: an animal that plays an indispensable role in regulating ecosystems. Already, Desmond has cemented himself as a secondary contributor in trials alongside the likes of Jean, Ulysses and Wenona, and within the group he assumes a position not the extent of leadership like Wolfgang and Jean but certainly as a prominent initiator. Sharks have lived for millions of years and their survival is integral to the smooth management of marine ecosystems, to remove them would cause a disastrous knock-on effect. In tandem, the condition of its ecosystem is integral to the survival of the shark, which raises the aspect of Desmond’s Free Time Events that has him lament the lack of open space in the academy.
“As apex predators, sharks play an indispensable role in regulating marine populations, maintaining biodiversity, and preserving the health of our oceans (amongst many other parts they play in the tapestry of life that is below the waves). However, despite having roamed our oceans for millions of years, they currently face a myriad threats that of our own doing, including overfishing, habitat degradation, and climate change.” (Melissa Cristina Marquez, 2024, Exploring the Intersection of Indigenous Knowledge and Shark Science)
Turning to the association between swans and death is the ever-omnipresent swan song. The myth that swans are silent their whole lives until just before they die, when they sing their haunting song. Eloise can be interpreted according to this in how “silence” can be applied to her initially reserved and shy nature, with the more she develops across the story akin to the theme of transformation found in many European folktales and, unfortunately as a result, becomes closer to death her development in becoming more openly confident will be her “song”.
My personal speculation at the moment is that Eloise will become the blackened through killing in self-defence - something I find fitting for her characterisation, predicted character arc, fencing talent, and swan motif all in one - and so her swan’s song will manifest as her final plight during her trial before she is inevitably sent to death. Relatedly, the conclusion of Swan Lake sees Odette, the swan princess, and Siegried, the prince, die together. I view Desmond and Eloise’s relationship to end in one of two ways - either one of them kills/is killed and the other kills/is killed the chapter after, or one of them kills/is killed and the other survives. Either way, they cannot both live.
The silver Swan who living had no note, When death approached unlocked her silent throat; Leaning her breast against the reedy shore, Thus sang her first and last, and sung no more: "Farewell all joys! O death come close mine eyes, More geese than swans now live, more fools than wise." (Unknown author)
And so arrives the final point to wrap this whole essay up in one neat bow: Eloise’s swan motif presents in her unwavering loyalty as a pair with Desmond. This is so unsubtle that it is underscored by Grace and Kai in the chapter one trial, sending accusations of them working together to murder their way. As has been reiterated, the two are seldom not depicted together, react to accusations towards each other with the same intensity were they to be directed at them, and defend each other with a consistency they do not afford any other character, with only Diana coming close in Eloise’s case. Like swans who mate for life, Eloise and Desmond have essentially become pair bonded. This happening so quickly is not necessarily a cause for doubt either in my opinion as that also connects to swans who bond as a pair even before they reach sexual maturity at twenty months despite living for a good two decades, and we know Eloise and Desmond’s time is far shorter than that.
“Someone has to leave first.  This is a very old story.  There is no other version of this story.” (Richard Siken, War of the Foxes)
With everything we have of them so far, regardless of how Desmond and Eloise’s individual stories play out, they will be in one way or another entwined.
Thank you for reading, and I would love to know your thoughts!

Aemond Targaryen: Temperament analysis
Tumblr media
Okay, first of all, there are four types of temperaments that a person can have: Melancholic, Choleric, Sanguine and Phlegmatic. Each of them brings unique characteristics to a person and in general, you can only have one, but with secondary characteristics of another.
For ME, Aemond Targaryen is a melancholic with choleric influence. Melancholic people have as their main characteristic this external quietness that often makes other people think they are boring or different, but no, they are just being themselves.
This matches perfectly with what Aemond said to Madame, he was always considered annoying and mocked by others because he was considered different. Aemond was a child but would be more reserved, he was studious and quiet, from a very early age taking his duties very seriously while others didn't even understand the duties that were around him.
A very big indication of this temperament is the fact that Aemond never got along with Aegon, who is a sanguine. In general, melancholics and sanguines do not tend to get along well together. The melancholic has no patience for the careless and uncommitted way of the sanguine and the sanguine in general cannot stand the correct and quiet way of the melancholic.
Tumblr media
And here comes another important thing: in this temperament we have a very big problem related to hurt and trauma.
Think about temperaments this way: The phlegmatic temperament is a water temperament. What happens when we stick a knife in a river? The knife goes through the water and leaves no mark when removed.
Now bring this to Aemond's temperament: the melancholic is an earth temperament. What happens when we stick a knife in the ground and remove it? The mark will remain there forever if nothing is done to remove it.
You see it clearly in Aemond, the pain and hurt that was kept with him for years and years without anything being done to reverse it, only to feed it. The bullying suffered as a child, the loss of his eye, being belittled by his father, all of this is very vivid for him.
Aemond doesn't forget the pain caused to him!
Tumblr media
Now let's talk about something important: the temperament, which is like a person's secondary temperament. Aemond has a choleric supply, which in temperaments is fire. Melancholic and choleric are a combination that, when not well-worked, can be dangerous, considering how melancholic is spiteful and choleric is vengeful. While melancholic thinks a lot about everything and plans every detail of everything he's going to do, choleric is extremely reactive and acts without thinking about the consequences.
A single person with two opposing temperaments can be complicated, and Aemond is like that. While he is very rational, he sometimes acts recklessly when he's angry, such as chasing Lucerys. However, when he kills him, guilt overwhelms him almost immediately, and the realization of what he did thoughtlessly eats away at him.
What makes Aemond predominantly Melancholic? His quietness and seemingly calm way of being. Choleric people are prone to subsequent outbursts of anger, are restless and impulsive to the extreme. You will rarely see a choleric person think about something.
An example is the scene at the bordeaux, a choleric person would not have thought twice before attacking or even killing Aegon right there, but a melancholic person would not, he keeps his anger and plans revenge for later, even if at some point in the future the guilt of what he did may eat away at him alive.
Tumblr media
The way he hides each of his emotions behind a carefully calculated facade is the most melancholy thing anyone could do.
"I care but there's no point in letting anyone know."
I particularly love characters with this temperament, because they usually have so many nuances to observe.

Full Moon Spoilers: The Final Scene
Tumblr media
I have some thoughts.
Okay let me start with saying, the Stolas & Blitzo conversation should not have been relegated to the last 5 minutes of the episode. I think the rushed nature of the conversation doomed any chance of it being a satisfying exchange between these two characters that covers the full reality of their situation. I’m listing this up front because a lot of my grievances could have been resolved with more time, which the team spent on 15 minutes of lead up that I believe were ultimately unnecessary to the show's central plot and actively hinder the direction the showrunners want the story to go in.
During the episode he acknowledges that Blitzo is in a horrible situation. He states that the deal was wrong, implicitly acknowledging guilt for thrusting it unto Blitz and trying to resolve that by giving him the Azmodean crystal. He has decided to end things, and goes through with it even though he displays clear interest in Blitzo’s advances.
Then what does he do when Blitzo assumes that Stolas hasn’t changed? When Blitzo believes that Stolas, the person who he has only had transactional relations with, is setting up a new kind of transaction?
Instead of further ensuring Blitzo and trying to clear the air. He throws a tantrum. When things didn’t immediately resolve in his favor. Then he immediately goes into blaming Blitzo for only thinking about sex in their, again, transactional relationship. This gets worse because Stolas doesn’t wait to establish a healthy non romantic/sexual relationship before insinuating that he is still interested in Blitzo sexually, opening Blitzo up to misunderstanding his intent… then not being willing to clarify his intent.
“I have wanted you for so long, the fact that you couldn’t believe that I might have these feelings about you, that your first instinct is that it’s always about sex… that’s enough to know what this is.”
My brother in christ, you confront him about this during the sex deal night and don’t expect him to expect sex? You give him ~10 seconds to react to this information before deciding you don’t want to deal with his emotions anymore because they aren’t what you wanted?
The monologue that Blitzo had after that was completely justified and extremely gratifying to hear.
“Fuck you Stolas! You spring this feelings bullshit on me, are you fucking kidding?” - “Can I get a fucking minute to think after everything you put me through?” - “You can’t just dismiss me like that.”
After that sincere outburst, instead of Stolas recognizing what Blitzo is saying and taking some accountability or apologizing… he reacts with
“I didn’t realize you think so low of me.”
HUH? What happened to the transactional deal not being right? Surely if he knows he isn’t right, he knows that Blitzo would probably have a pretty low opinion of him? Breaking the deal doesn’t make his victim required to forgive him, especially not within 5 minutes.
Sidenote but: Stolas’s desire for immediate reconciliation is compounded by the fact that Stolas buries the lead at the beginning of their conversation. He keeps things vague with statements like “I need [the grimoire] back permanently” and “I’ve made up my mind” that lead Blitzo to believe he is being fired. I don’t really believe that the way that Stolas talks here speaks to his character, it reads more like bad writing in favor of a misunderstanding to get Blitzo worked up. It doesn’t seem in character to dwell like this, you could argue it is nerves but I’d argue there is no positive reaction to those first few sentences and Stolas isn’t socially inept enough to fail to realize that.
Honestly, if they were gearing up to have Stolas as a villain still and if Blitzo hadn’t had an apology cut off, I would have loved this exchange as it characterizes Stolas as a villain very well. It shows that Stolas still doesn’t care about Blitzo, just the version of Blitzo he has built in his head in excruciating detail. It shows that despite Stolas trying to make amends through words and actions, he still can not face the hurt that he has caused his victim and will run away when confronted with them. Unfortunately I’m pretty sure the writers are just going to make Blitzo into the one that Stolas hoped would fall into his arms immediately. So whatever.

Note
are there differences between shapul and esfan? theyre the same character to me.
It took me a while to figure out how I wanted to respond to this mainly because it sounds like something my partner would say to antagonise me but let me give it my best shot.
I do think there are some differences between them (and I will of course mention those in this post) but I think it's more interesting to answer this question by looking at why these two characters are so alike, and specifically why the fact that they are so alike doesn't mean they are merely cardboard cutouts of each other and is vital to understanding them as characters.
First, while Shapur created a strong impression and is an important character to myself and many others, it's worth noting that he appears in relatively few scenes in the manga. That's enough to glean some info about what he's like as a character, but we don't get to spend as much time with him as we do with the main cast. Maybe that's part of why you feel this way.
We do, however, get to see a bit more of his younger brother, Isfan.
When you say that Shapur and Isfan are so alike they seem the same to you, my first response is pretty much "well, what did you expect, given the circumstances?". It's clear from the outset that Isfan wishes to follow in his brother's footsteps.
Tumblr media
Here he is in Chapter 59, freshly arrived in Peshawar.
Straight away we learn he wants to avenge his brother's death and offer his service to Prince Arslan in his brother's stead.
Tumblr media
From Chapter 64, right before his fight with Gieve.
Here we learn that not only did Shapur save Isfan, he actually taught him. The novels even mention that 'while his brother served as a military general in the royal capital, Isfan became an agent of the royal capital and stayed in his hometown to guard it,' so even before we meet him in the manga, Isfan was stepping into a role that had previously been occupied by his brother, a role that Shapur had trained him for.
It's very clear that Isfan looks up to his brother, idealises him and aspires to be the kind of person he was, not just in a military sense but also sharing his morals, viewing loyalty to one's country and protecting the weak as far more important than riches (as stated in Book 12 of the novels, this is something Shapur said that Isfan adheres to as well). Is it such a surprise that after being so closely taught by Shapur and clearly modelling himself on him, Isfan seems so like his older brother?
That's really why I think saying they're 'the same character' feels reductive, because the reasons why they are so similar tell you so much about them.
And despite Shapur appearing in only a few scenes before his death, the same thing works in reverse. When we meet Isfan, we also learn more about Shapur. I don't think there's any need to list it all as that's not really what your question was aimed at, but I hope you understand my point.
The two brothers do seem to share character traits (they can be hotheaded/rash, as seen with Isfan's fight against Gieve, him rushing hastily to attack Chassum Fortress, and in Shapur throwing down his helmet at Atropatene after learning the king had fled, and particularly in his rescue of Isfan where he rushed alone into the snowy mountains to save him) but again, they're related, sharing the same father. So it's not really a surprise. This does, however, also highlight a difference between them, one that comes down to age and experience.
When we meet Shapur, he's in his mid 30s, and a Marzban, one of the highest military positions possible in Pars.
When we meet Isfan, he's around 20, and although he's clearly got some combat experience he's not at his brother's level just yet. And while they share some traits like I outlined above, while Shapur likely had the age and experience to moderate his reactions a little bit (see how he backtracks after his initial outburst at Atropatene, and defers his conflict with Kubard for another day which never comes), Isfan doesn't, and on certain occasions (like rushing ahead at Chassum) his inexperience shows.
I also want to cover character design, because I think it's a deliberate choice by Arakawa to have there be some resemblance between the two but not have them appear totally identical. One, it highlights that Isfan has a different mother (the manga appears to give him her lighter hair colour), and two, I think it indicates that Isfan isn't just Shapur v2, he's not meant to be just a carbon copy of his brother. Maybe that's also why we haven't seen Isfan wield a spear, Shapur's weapon of choice.
That those visual differences highlight the difference in their birth circumstances feels important. Shapur was born into high status as his family's heir. Isfan was born to a enslaved mother and if not for Shapur's actions his father would have allowed him to die simply to pacify his wife. While Isfan now occupies the same privileged position that his brother grew up in, it could easily have been different.
Those circumstances (Isfan and his mother's abandonment in the mountains) also lead to a distinct difference between the two, which is fighting style. Okay, we don't see much of Shapur in combat but he's clearly a classically trained Parsian warrior. This is likely the nature of the training he gave Isfan, too. But Isfan has an element that is unique to him, something that wasn't influenced by his brother but relates to wolves.
In his fight with Gieve, Tanaka describes Isfan's movements as 'wolf-like' and in both the novel scene and Arakawa's manga adaptation, Gieve is surprised by Isfan's movements (specifically the kick seen below) which depart from orthodox swordsmanship with the unpredictability of the wild.
Tumblr media
I don't think we would've seen Shapur pull a move like that!
Yes, I know it makes no sense for Isfan to have these wolf-like traits when the actual contact he had with them was very limited, but I'll forgive Tanaka this conceit because it's fucking cool okay?
Anyway I hope this satisfactorily answers the question. I'm aware I am very (very) into these two characters and not everyone will be as interested in them as I am, but I hope some of the the points in this post were of interest. Hopefully I didn't forget anything, I didn't get a chance to proofread!

What abt the cullens being w/ someone that has anger issues?? I love love ur writing btw!!
The Cullens with an S/O who has anger issues
Thank you for the kind words!
Also I’m literally sitting at work while I write this so if it’s bad blame the people asking me to put 20 bucks on pump 5
Thank you for requesting and I hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Edward:
He could already tell that you were more prone to anger than others
But he knows that it’s not something that you can control
He can hear your thoughts
Hear how much tou hate the way that you are
And the fact that you can’t control it
The good thing about Edward is that he knows this
So when you lash out at him for something small, he knows it’s not entirely your fault
He tries to be understanding and help you through your bouts of rage
And he doesn’t take it personally
He would suggest counseling tho
Tumblr media
Alice:
She can usually predict if something is about to happen that she knows will set you off
So she tries to steer clear of those things
If she takes you into that store you’ll get angry at something, so she takes you to a different one instead
If she says this thing, you’ll get frustrated, so she words it a different way
She works around you more
And she doesn’t try to get you help
She just learns how to adapt
Tumblr media
Jasper:
He can feel the rage from inside of you
And he’s a bit shocked at how fast your changes are
Most people have some reaction time or some kind of slow build to such big emotions
But yours just… appear
So he does his best
He uses his ability on you to regulate your emotions better
And he gets better at noticing what subtle cues you have
Tumblr media
Rosalie:
She’s a little quick to anger too
Obviously not as bad as yours
But she gets irritated pretty easily
And whether that’s her fault or the people around her just being idiots…
Who knows
But she sympathizes
She picks up on your subtle cues pretty quick
And she will always defend your behavior
“Yeah their reaction was uncalled for, but that person was being an idiot so”
Tumblr media
Emmett:
He doesn’t understand the anger part so much
But he does relate to the feeling of not being able to control yourself
I mean they all can
But he resonates the most because of how much of a menace he was when he first turned
Very patient
Will also defend you every time
Tumblr media
Esme:
Very very patient
She doesn’t pick up on your cues the best
But she makes up for it in being understanding
She would heavily suggest therapy
Unless you’re already in it
In which case she would suggest stronger therapy
She wants you to get better and she knows that she can’t do that for you
Tumblr media
Carlisle:
He understands in the most medical sense
He has patients with severe anger issues and he knows what to do
I feel like he’s probably gotten a psychology degree at some point
He would ask if you wanted counseling
And if you say no he’s totally cool
He also doesn’t take any of your outbursts to heart
He knows you can’t really control it
He also picks up on your cues and triggers really quick and does his best to avoid them
Overall he’s probably the best
Next to Alice
Or Jasper
Tumblr media
Vampire! Bella:
She’s a little combative at first
The first time you blow up at her over something that’s not important she fights back
Verbally of course
Either you would have to be the one to explain that it’s something you can’t control or someone else will
Afterwards she feels bad
But I still think she’d be bad at picking up your tells
And she’d try to push your buttons sorry
She thinks it’s a bit funny when you’re mad
Try punching her once that might make her behave

Kieran is autistic and you can't change my mind!
Okay, I KNOW that I'm not the only one who holds this headcanon...but I wanted to do an analysis on Kieran anyway, especially since my best friend @sinnohanvulpix said she'd love to see me do one. Credit to her for all the screenshots used btw. The GIFs on the other hand were either found on Google Images or created by me using gifrun.com and these YouTube videos:
youtube
I did not use my own footage for this at all...as proof here's what MY character in the game looks like...he has my real name but I tried to make him look like Orange which is why he has the orange eyes 😅
Tumblr media
(Sorry for the bad quality btw...taking pictures of my Switch screen is hard 😅)
Okay, now without further ado, let's get started with the analysis!
First, Kieran has a CLEAR special interest in Ogerpon, he admires and looks up to her, he was obsessed with the story of the ogre, he was always trying to go to her den and meet her, he has a meltdown when Ogerpon chooses the player over him, etc. Carmine even says that Kieran "really really REALLY likes the ogre" and that made me think, "Ah! Special interest!"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then at the end of the Teal Mask he gains a new special interest in getting stronger to beat the player...and he hyperfocuses HARD on that...to the point of it being detrimental to both his physical and mental health, as he was doing nothing but training during that time...he barely ate, barely slept, just trained...and that is not healthy. It's a rare example of media showcasing a special interest being unhealthy and absolutely CONSUMING one's life, and the consequences do actually show for it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kieran is very introverted and doesn't know how to make friends very well. I actually think the player is his first friend considering his surprised reaction when the player says they consider him a friend, and following this, he quickly becomes a bit...too attached to the player, as he doesn't quite understand how friendships work.
Tumblr media
(This is also such a neurodivergent way to say "I'm so happy I finally have a friend")
He also struggles socially, as is a requirement for autistic people to qualify for a diagnosis. Kieran specifically has a hard time reading social cues, he struggles with making eye contact, he has clear anxiety when talking to people as proven by his little stutter he has at times.
Tumblr media
(This is an adorable screenshot 🥺)
He also struggles with social and emotional processing (and might have alexithymia as well due to his sudden huge outbursts of emotion), and he also struggles with initiating conversation as well, as seen when he tries to talk to Penny at the League Club. They both have no idea how to even start a conversation with each other and it's honestly pretty adorable seeing the two quiet adorkable kids trying their best to hold conversation. I get it, you two, initiating conversation is really difficult for me too.
Also the way they try to start the conversation by talking about the weather...that's really funny and ironic to me because that's what NTs do all the time. NTs always use the weather as a small-talk conversation starter but NDs like me (and Kieran and Penny too apparently) just don't get that stuff.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(These two are so neurodivergent it's great and I love them both 🥺)
Kieran also has four in-game animations that I personally see as stimming. The first one is him tapping his fist against his hip when he's thinking or nervous.
Tumblr media
(Focus your attention to his hand here and you'll see it.)
The second one is him playing with a strand of loose hair, usually when he's nervous.
Tumblr media
(The little nervous side glance at the player is relatable and adorable 🥺)
The third one is a more agitated stim that he only does ONCE in the entire game...and that is tapping the front of his foot on the ground. I do that myself when I'm agitated or impatient, somehow it's comforting, especially since for some reason I really like the way my shoes sound when I tap them on the ground... especially since I got my brand new Infernape-themed shoes, they sound extra satisfying because they're brand new.
Tumblr media
(This is not the way most people tap their foot...I've never seen an NT do it like this...only other NDs such as myself and one of my brothers)
The fourth and final one is, unfortunately, a stress stim...Kieran runs his hands very fast through his hair and it also looks like, to me anyway as someone who has self-injurious stims myself, that he is digging his nails into his scalp as well while doing that. I do something similar myself, though on top of running my hands through my hair and digging my nails into my scalp, I also pull at my hair...yeah... self-injurious stims are no joke...and I'm kinda glad Kieran's autism coding brings attention to that aspect of autism...at least in my eyes as someone who does those things myself.
Tumblr media
(He's in so much stress here, poor kid 😔)
Another aspect of autism that I'm surprised and kinda glad that Kieran exhibits as an autistic-coded character is meltdowns and shutdowns. Kieran has actual meltdowns in the game! This is something we have never seen in such an in-your-face way in any Pokémon game, and as someone who regularly has meltdowns myself, it hit me in the feels whenever I saw him having them. His first meltdown is in the Teal Mask when he steals the Teal Mask and runs off to Loyalty Plaza where he battles the player. He yells at Carmine and the player for treating him like an outcast...which is unfortunately something that happens to a lot of autistic people, myself included. Kieran screams at the player and Carmine for for lying to him while doing his stress stim, before running up to the Lousy Three's shrine and punching it, without any regard for his safety, which is also something autistic people may do during meltdowns...I know I have no regard for my safety during mine. After that's all over he gives the mask back to the player and goes home, leaving the player to talk to Carmine alone, who says that she's worried and thinks it's just "teen angst". When I saw that I was like, "...Uh, Carmine...I don't think it's just that, I think your brother is neurodivergent and really needs a lot of help and support because he's struggling a lot right now..."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His second meltdown is also in the Teal Mask, when he wants Ogerpon to go with him but Ogerpon wants to go with the player...Kieran can't process that and doesn't understand how to take Ogerpon's feelings into account, instead demanding the player to battle him for the right to be Ogerpon's partner. He collapses on all fours after being defeated again, and it gets worse...he looks like he's crying while the player battles Ogerpon in order to catch her. After the player catches her, Kieran wonders why he can't be like the player, and runs off crying, locking himself in his room for the rest of the story. The end of the Teal Mask has him doing his stress stim while being consumed by a new special interest in a very detrimental way...that interest being becoming so strong that no one can defeat him...including the player.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kieran's third meltdown is in the Indigo Disk, after the player defeats him in the championship match. That meltdown is a full-on cutscene, where it is CLEAR to see his spiraling mental state through the visuals, and he holds his hands on his head like he has a headache while trying to process the fact that he lost to the player AGAIN (which is also relatable as someone who struggles with processing difficulties myself...it really does give headaches and it is one of the worst feelings when I just can't process what's going on around me or the emotions I feel or anything really)...he collapses to his knees and looks like he's breathing very hard as he is so upset and distressed at this loss. It is definitely one of the most heartbreaking scenes for me because this is a CLEAR CUT MELTDOWN in my eyes and it hits me in the feels like a TRUCK to watch that cutscene.
Tumblr media
Also, in the Terapagos fight, Kieran has a bit of a shutdown for a bit, standing there frozen, thinking he's useless and can't do anything right (which is relatable as I have regular shutdowns as well, and I also constantly feel like I'm a failure of a human being who can't do anything right)...but let me tell you, when the player finally gets him to snap out of it and convinces him to help and he opens his eyes revealing that the light is back in his eyes as well as visible tears...I cheered (and teared up myself). My boy was back, and I was so happy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(When I first saw the tears I was like, "NOOOO don't cry Kieran! 😢)
Also in the Indigo Disk, Kieran seems completely different and "no longer like his usual self". His autistic traits are (mostly) nowhere to be seen as he becomes much more serious, angry, assertive, and aggressive. I personally see this as a persona he puts on by masking, which is common for autistic people to do. I myself can't mask, but Kieran definitely seems to be masking here by putting on this persona in order to get stronger and seem stronger as a person as well. This is NOT his real self, this is a FACADE!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We see him start to drop the mask again in Area Zero when he says it seems like they're in a spy movie or something and how cool that is, but once the crack in his mask is pointed out he immediately puts it back on.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After everything in the under depths ends, and you go back to Blueberry Academy, he drops the mask again completely, and goes back to his real, adorkable, relatable self...and stays that way from then on, which made me so relieved and happy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(This is my favorite cutscene in the entire DLC because of how adorable it is and also how neurodivergent Kieran is being here while apologizing for all he did 🥺)
In conclusion, I think Kieran is a great example of an autistic-coded character who has many relatable traits, and also does a good job showcasing some of the more "unpleasant and challenging behaviors and traits" (NTs use that terminology a lot, not me... that's how NTs unfortunately view NDs a lot of the time) of autism. I used to be afraid of him during the post-Teal Mask pre-Indigo Disk era but that was my trauma and PTSD talking (I talked about the emotional rollercoaster Kieran's story arc took me on in another post from last year after I finally worked up the courage to play the Indigo Disk...feel free to check that out too if you'd like). Now though I can wholeheartedly say that I love and appreciate Kieran a lot as a character, and his relatability is definitely a big part of why he is a big comfort character for me now (please Pokémon put him in Pokémon Masters EX, PLEASE I will literally cry from joy if he gets added to the game)!
Hope you all enjoyed this autistic person's analysis of yet ANOTHER autistic-coded character in Pokémon! I know I had A LOT to say but that just proves how relatable Kieran is, and I love him for that. Let me know what you think and if I missed anything in the comments below!

Can you do a Vance Hopper x a loud reader but actually just a softy?
Vance Hopper x Loud but softy Reader
A/N: im sorry it took me almost a year to get to this but keep in mind that i was in a semi-depressive hiatus (which, nobody cares; i’m just here to write), but i got to it, and that’s all that matters: im trying to get out of it now. and i slowly am. enjoy!
he sometimes gets “annoyed” by you being loud. and the reason it’s in quotation marks is because HE DOESNT
he takes being loud as being confident, brave, all that.
plus he’s loud himself (when he has those spontaneous outbursts. other than that, he’s just a little softie just like you are)
in other words he is the exact same way, like. he could pretend to be a non lovey dovey person in front of his friends, but late at night…during the weekly (he takes this very seriosuly) sleepovers…he’s all up on you cuddling and being sweet.
^^ BECAUSE HES A BIG HEARTED LITTLE GUY. just scared to show it since he has a Reputation of being some tough mean dude.
he’s really sweet with you because he relates to you, you may not be rude or mean like him but in some form you’re relatable!!
of course he defends you whenever someone says shit to you. like if someone were to call you annoying he’d be on their ass. like quite literally pouncing on them.
he’s so black cat boyfriend
feel free to add anymore in the comments if you’d like, read the A/N if you’re wondering why this is short. thanks

Hehehe. For the new book. How far would you say Color would go in his jealousy?
Would he drive Epic away, maybe even badmouth him to Delta? Would he grow increasingly possessive of them, insisting to do everything possible together? Or would he cry and beg, desperate to be loved, wanting to know if he did something wrong for Delta to seek out others and make new friends.
Just how far would his jealousy go?
(I was not kidding when I said that this one would be even angstier than the last. Also if I sound weird, forgive me, it is 12:30 where I live and I am very tired)
Even though there is jealousy, i think Color would more so be driven by an intense fear of abandonment and a deep sense of insecurity that breeds desperation. He doesn’t want to be abandoned—he doesn’t want to be alone, above all else.
He (and likely the souls too) would be deeply concerned and afraid of doing or saying anything that drives Delta away for good—including behaviors like badmouthing their friends. Color also deeply values his morals and beliefs, his sense of integrity and justice, and anything he says or does that seems to go against that or makes him feel like a hypocrite is felt intensely as well—to him, he is suddenly all bad, he is wrong, he is evil and a liar. A horrible person.
(Even if it was just something said impulsively, or out of anger or hurt, or even just a simple ‘human’ mistake that anyone could make. A mistake that Color himself likely wouldn’t hold against anyone else for doing or saying. If Color does it, though, he punishes himself for it—he feels like he’s failing Justice, he’s failing Integrity, and may even be failing Patience and Kindness.)
On top of that, saying something bad about Epic in the spur of the moment would probably send Color spiraling further into self hatred, especially if Delta reacts badly to that, because he doesn’t believe he should be feeling this way at all. He barely even knows the guy by this point, and Color is all too aware that what he’s feeling isn’t rational—but he can’t stop it, and that’s the problem, and it hurts.
But he can’t be alone again, and no one else is going to put up with him the way Delta has, are they? They’d all leave him and forget about him the second he became too much, too clingy and needy. The second he became too much of a burden to bother wasting time dealing with.
I think it’d be more about himself, and about Delta, at the end of the day—then it is about hating or being jealous of Epic, even if Color doesn’t always say or think kind things about him in the height of his intense emotions, and even if saying and thinking those things always make him feel even worse about himself after the fact. Perhaps even starting to think that, if Delta does actually leave or replace him with Epic, then he deserves it.
I could see both given the right conditions, but I think Color’s first instinct would be to punish himself for it—first by trying to suppress everything, every single “bad” thought or feeling about either Delta or Epic, which could trigger stress related dissociation or psychosis episodes—such as auditory hallucinations mostly, possibly surrounding the idea of Delta talking about leaving, or insulting him, or laughing with Epic about him and mocking him, or even of Papyrus.
Color might turn to the behaviors that offer him comfort but ultimately can be harmful, such as binge eating and impulsive buying and spending.
When push comes to shove, such as Delta trying to confront Color about his behaviors lately, trying to talk about it, or even somehow making Color feel trapped or like he can’t leave and cool off, perhaps it triggers Color into an explosive outburst—targeted at Delta.
Accusing him of lying to him all this time, accusing him of having never actually cared about him and seeing Color as a “burden” or “a hassle” or “boring”—in comparison to his new, more fun and funny friend, Epic. Telling him to stop “pretending” to care, etc. This may even lead to the latter, with the crying and desperation.
So basically, if doesn’t have to be one or the other—there can be elements of both, building up to eachother, with Color trying to play a balancing act between how he feels and his fear of abandonment, shame and guilt for feeling that way, and feeling like he’s failing the souls and Delta leading him to try and hide and suppress those emotions.
It’s possible he may even eventually try to distance himself from Delta, in an attempt to protect himself from feeling the pain of Delta’s abandonment (perhaps likely spending more time with others as well, such as Core!Frisk, Ink, the Abyss Team and Lust, trying to distract himself and the creeping thought that maybe he should’ve just stayed in the Void) but also periodically coming back, because Color fears being completely alone entirely and doesn’t like that thought that maybe Delta has noticed he wasn’t there and felt abandoned too, felt the same way Color has been feeling—which Delta would likely notice, and not just let happen without bringing it up.

So... Masters and Men, eh? There are several different perspectives at play in this chapter:
Mrs. Thornton
"[Workers strike] For the mastership and ownership of other people’s property [...] they are a pack of ungrateful hounds [...] they want to be masters, and make the masters into slaves on their own ground. They are always trying at it; they always have it in their minds".
Mrs. Thornton speaks very harshly of the workers, and she seems to explicitly view the situation as opposing sides, with the 'lesser' one being the aggressor. Part of the pride she takes in her lifestyle is linked to being brave enough to face them and 'fight' against them. In fact, the quote about that is really interesting to me, because she claims they're "a people who are always owing their betters a grudge, and only waiting for an opportunity to pay it off," but in some ways, she could be seen that way as well. At least in the sense of family history/social status, the Hales are supposedly the Thornton's superiors, right? And Mrs. Thornton is very prickly about being seen as inferior herself. A lot of it seems to be genuine pride and dislike of their (Southern) priorities, but some is definitely defensive. And I could see some nasty high society person using similar wording about Mrs. Thornton herself having a grudge against her betters. Certainly, as someone who herself had to struggle tremendously to climb to the point she's at now, I find it easier to see her believing others will want to do the same (though she attributes more malevolence to their actions).
Mr. Hale
"I should say that the masses were already passing rapidly into the troublesome stage which intervenes between childhood and manhood, in the life of the multitude as well as that of the individual. Now, the error which many parents commit in the treatment of the individual at this time is, insisting on the same unreasoning obedience as when all he had to do in the way of duty was, to obey the simple laws of ‘Come when you’re called,’ and ‘Do as you’re bid!’ But a wise parent humours the desire for independent action, so as to become the friend and adviser when his absolute rule shall cease."
Mr. Hale doesn't attempt to dispute the idea that the workers are inferiors, and he's clearly not willing to go too far because he wants to keep the peace. But he tries to suggest that Mr. Thornton look upon them as growing and learning, and be indulged of their 'mistakes' or 'outbursts', so to speak. When talk again turns to the two sides as being opposed to one another, Mr. Hale says, "is not that because there has been none of the equality of friendship between the adviser and advised classes?" He's certainly in favor of mending relations, and he doesn't believe that opposition is inherent/necessary, but his approach is sort of benevolently condescending. This too fits well with his background and the kind of thing Margaret was used to before they move here.
Nicholas Higgins
...it were the interest of the employers to keep them from acquiring money—that it would make them too independent if they had a sum in the savings’ bank. [...] I heard, moreover, that it was considered to the advantage of the masters to have ignorant workmen... [...] But he—that is my informant—spoke as if the masters would like their hands to be merely tall, large children—living in the present moment—with a blind unreasoning kind of obedience.
Higgins (who isn't here and whose words are being relayed second-hand) is the one who first brought up the workers-to-children comparison, but he did so in a distinctly scathing way. He's very bitter about the 'masters' and is definitely displeased at being looked down on. But it's not just resentment. He recognizes the balance of power that is at least in many cases being deliberately maintained. The workers aren't allowed to be too independent because then they can't as easily be used however the masters want. His views are sort of a reverse of Mrs. Thornton's... the employers are the aggressors constantly shoving the workers back down. Wanting them to be ignorant, never to think for themselves, to be dependent and unquestioning. As someone who has very few options even when it comes to helping his daughter dying due to a factory-related illness, his bitterness is fully understandable.
John Thornton
"But because we don’t explain our reasons, they won’t believe we’re acting reasonably. We must give them line and letter for the way we choose to spend or save our money." [...] "I agree with Miss Hale so far as to consider our people in the condition of children, while I deny that we, the masters, have anything to do with the making or keeping them so. I maintain that despotism is the best kind of government for them; so that in the hours in which I come in contact with them I must necessarily be an autocrat." [...] "And I say, that the masters would be trenching on the independence of their hands, in a way that I, for one, should not feel justified in doing, if we interfered too much with the life they lead out of the mills. Because they labour ten hours a-day for us, I do not see that we have any right to impose leading-strings upon them for the rest of their time. I value my own independence so highly that I can fancy no degradation greater than that of having another man perpetually directing and advising and lecturing me, or even planning too closely in any way about my actions."
Mr. Thornton has quite an interesting mix of views here. He claims that it is necessary for him to be a despot; but he feels he has no right to interfere with their personal lives. He talks scornfully of their strikes and says if they knew why he's taken his stance, then they would act differently, but he refuses to tell them why. He agrees that they're like children, but then says he respects their independence and is treating them like he'd want to be treated. Thornton does seem to have a better understanding of the independent nature of the people here, but he uses that reasoning to justify remaining completely uninvolved in bettering the situation. He asks if he has any right to impose his own views on them just because he's their boss - and that's a fair point, but also, he's kind of doing that regardless? It's his belief that an honest and straightforward, if demanding 'master' is both more respectable and incurs loyalty/becomes an example to follow. It's his belief that the workers should blindly obey him because he's in charge, and that this is better for them. And as someone with so much power over their livelihoods, he can operate based on these views. If they feel otherwise, they don't have the power to change that. When they try with strikes, he's willing to get into a power struggle that he admits will hurt him as well as them, rather than let them 'win' even just enough to make him admit his reasons why. Even though he claims their interests align with his, he seems to feel that they don't or can't understand this, and thus conflict is inevitable. In fact, I think he was the first one to call it a "battle of the classes." Thornton's backstory is very much a "pulled myself up by my own bootstraps" success story, and because he did it by working really hard and practicing lots of self-discipline, he seems to think anyone else who fails to succeed is at fault for not working hard enough. He didn't question his bosses, he just put the work in! And so on. Of course, pretty sure he was always of a higher class, and that's going to be a factor for all of these people regardless, but still, I can easily see him thinking that it's their fault for not knowing how to save their money carefully enough. And thus dismissing their complaints.
Margaret Hale
All I meant to say is, that there is no human law to prevent the employers from utterly wasting or throwing away all their money, if they choose; but that there are passages in the Bible which would rather imply—to me at least—that they neglected their duties as stewards if they did so. [...] ...I see two classes dependent on each other in every possible way, yet each evidently regarding the interests of the other as opposed to their own: I never lived in a place before where there were two sets of people always running each other down. [...] ...you are a man, dealing with a set of men over whom you have, whether you reject the use of it or not, immense power, just because your lives and your welfare are so constantly and intimately interwoven. God has made us so that we must be mutually dependent. We may ignore our own dependence, or refuse to acknowledge that others depend upon us in more respects than the payment of weekly wages; but the thing must be, nevertheless.
Margaret relays Higgins' words, and speaks on his behalf. She seems to have a position closest to her father, in the sense that she feels it is Mr. Thornton's duty to aid the people under his rulership. She seems guided ultimately by religious ideals of the relationship between people, but also recognizes that the situation involves an inherent power imbalance and thus responsibility on the part of the one who is at the top. As much as Thornton might deny it, he does have incredible power over the people. But he is also dependent upon them. Her talk about dependence is really interesting because she's the first person to portray it as extending in both directions. They are dependent upon him to employ them; but he is equally dependent upon them to work for him. In this way, she goes a step further than Mr. Hale seemed to, and recognizes both sides as at least closer to equals. She clearly isn't suggesting that every worker should be seen as having the same rights and roles as Thornton, but neither does she view them as either entirely isolated in their independence, or entirely subservient in their dependence. It's a complicated web in which everyone plays a valuable part. Fighting against one another is by necessity acting against your own interests, in a way. Once again, I think her having these beliefs fits very well with her background as someone who did operate in a more noblesse oblige way and clearly felt she was better than certain other classes, but also experienced being the social lesser/supported one when taken in by her Aunt.

Gale Reviews: Miraculous World: London, At the Edge of Time
(Spoilers for those that havent seen it. and yes this will be my sort of Live reaction, with my thoughts at the end)
-Okay so Nooroo be sad and trying to appeal to this person's morality.
-Okay so I was wrong about them being Adrien, but they are... Blond Lila?
-Okay, so She was actually BOTH akumatized Villains. Not gonna lie, That is so expected I assumed one of them would be adrien. Damn
-Intro be dope though
-So they are playing some weird variant of chess.
-If I was kid Alix, Id be salty, I would never. win since the other versions of me KNOW all my moves.
-OH DAMN GRANNY BUNNYX! 70, damn she looks good for 70
-Oh they be fading, and they arent even phased. Because they know what will happen. Wow... kind of takes the drama out of this
-Oh cool, recap
-They dont even bother saying he was originally called monarch.
-Alix is so valid for that comment about them kissing
-"Gabriel makes his wish, history is still on course." Yep they are playing the Miguel O' Hara is right canon event bit unironically.
-Portals start vanishing. But the drama is gone because YOU KNOW Alix will fix it
-Oh there is a depressed Bugnoire. Confirmed that merge miraculous can still use powerups.
-She goes to London. Damn this is depressing, and sterile
-Bugnoire casual destroys the cell to free Kagami made me chuckle
-Marinette reflecting on what happened. talking with Gabriel
-"Adrien cannot find out."
Tumblr media
TO THE SURPISE OF F***ING NOBODY!
-Kagami calling her out but then saying she will oblige her
-Oh they actually talking about Tomoe.
-Kagami wants to try and talk to her mom, which Marinette honors because... at least she isnt being a hypocrite here.
-Okay I know I am a bit nasty, but I do appreciate the time the scene is taking. its really building up the tension to this.
-Gorilla out of nowhere just like "Let me unlock it first." that made me chuckle
-I feel VERY CONFLICTED. Because on one hand, LOVE THE ANGST. Absolutely just perfection. Really milk that drama. But f*** do I HATE how this came about.
-Oh the Lie is actually pretty convincing. Oh look at how absolutely distraught Adrien is. Boy is f***ing wrecked.
-OH DAMN ADRIEN OUTBURST
-That Adrigami comforting.
-I want to love this absolutely heartshattering scene. Its beautiful, its angsty.
Tumblr media
-Okay, you know what. I will hold my reservations until I actually finish.
-You can just see the absolute distraught face of Marinette. SHE HATES THIS. SHE ABSOLUTELY HATES WHAT SHE IS DOING. OH THAT IS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL ANGSTY THING. Its slowly warming me up a bit, the finale was missing this.
-Oh damn, Nathalie knows Marinette is Ladybug. WELP, just another person that knows thats not Adrien.
-Oh damn, Ladybug monologue, while she destroys everything related to Hawkmoth, monarch, and his scheme. In a way, becoming his greatest accomplice.
-The press conference is full of a lies. Wow its starting to feel just like real life.
-Nathalie comforting Adrien, such a soft scene. Meanwhile Tomoe and Kagami are cold to eachother
-Marinette is at the train station
-That adrinette hug.... yea, thats the good stuff
-Im happy the kwami are safe.
-There is a lot of not talking in these moments. letting the music set the tone.
-And day becomes night, Marinette sleeps with Plagg and tikki by her side. Now she asks if what she did was right
-Is there a kwami of truth? Because if there is, I wonder what animal it is
-WAIT, She lied to Alya too? THAT I didnt see coming.
-And right there, we see when the special ACTUALLY Starts
-Okay the vest is funny
-The burrow has a slowed down time aspect, makes sense because of the whole time travel thing.
-So they have to take Marinette's Miraculous from when she renounced it. For a split second, I thought she was talking about the Kwami choice, but it was actually Origins. Which makes more sense
-So thats why Tikki becomes so sure of Marinette.
-She changed colors? Why thoough?! Granted I do prefer it to the original costume, but not as much as the lucky charm form.
-"There is no such thing as ghost." GHOST FORCE WOULD LIKE A WORD MARINETTe
-Basically she can phase through things like Kitty pride. And be invisible. So like a Ghost.
-Ladybug verses the Ghost akuma
-She cant touch them
-Calender. it means you have to go to a different time
-This special really likes hammering in that Ladybug's lie is wrong, yet at the same time NO ONE is offering her an alternative. So it feels like the special isnt really committing to the "Marinette is right" or "Marinette is wrong."
-"Sorry, you cant take the butterfly miraculous cause Canon Event." Yea this is getting repetitive
-So Time Stalker was there. Saw Ladybug was Marinette
-Yea, not gonna lie. All the clips showing the finale only remind me how much I HATE it.
-Gabriel f***s off to leave his son an orphan but gets to be with his wife. Thus getitng his wish forever and now Ladybug has to basically let it happen because F*** her in particular
-NATHALIE WITH A CROSSBOW!
-Nathalie telling the small crying teen who was willing to sacrifice HERSELF, that she didnt have to go that far. People often forget Marinette is a TEENAGER going through s***. Nathalie should have stopped Gabriel earlier
-That aside, all this special reinforced is that Gabriel is an idiot. He really could have won so much easier
-And thats how Time stalker found out
-Marinette figured out they were the same person, clever writing
-Super ghost and Super Spy dumb names
-I love Barkk. She is like "Dont be so sure"
-Man this special really retreads a lot of old ground a lot
-Miraculous Bug Noire
-So Bugnoire saying until they get the butterfly miraculous back. She cant tell him the truth.... Yea no. Thats dumb. I still find this very dumb.
-But the whole mini portal thing was funny to me. Why not just make a portal under them to pull them in.
-There we go.
-SHE HAS MORE OF THEM? Okay thats pretty clever
-"He or She?" if it wasnt present bunnyx Id assume she knew.
-The explanation on why Nathalie cant tell Adrien is also bulls**t.
-A wiseman once said, the "Truth hurts but once, but a Lie will ache forever" Marinette is basically setting up for worse
-I will say, the Choreography in these encounters is pretty cool.
-Okay the plan was clever
-Ladybug is apparently REALLY good at forging signatures. Are we sure Marinette isnt a future villainess?
-The Ladybug monologue with that funky beat was fun
-HEHEHE Lila Temper tantrum
-Poor Nooroo
-Well the plan worked.
-Bunnyx not being sad about having to stay as Bunnyx.
-Wait, so how come they can go ride dinosaurs if they cant mess with time?
-So bunnyx says "Hey its cool to lie as long as you own up to it eventually." Thats a fucking terrible lesson for kids to learn. I hope everyone reading this knows that
-Wait... is Chronobug dead?
-Nope, she is still alive
-Plagg is confused. But Tikki knows. Okay thats cute
-Marinette fixing the miraculous and upgrading them. Thats neat
-Marinette's logic for spreading it out makes sense at least. And the new hawkmoth doesnt know the heroes identities. Tomoe might though
-Okay, Plagg is cute.
-Ah yes, the Ladynoir
-There is that Hug. Thats that good stuff
-Chat noir's guilt and Ladybug's Guilt
-And then Lila's monologue at the end
___________________________________________________________
Now... How do I feel about this special?
I am torn.
On one hand, it did show that Marinette is feeling the effects of the secrets she is keeping. She is clearly feeling guilty about it. And the special does a LOT to justify what she is doing and never outright gives her a pass for it. I also LOVED that sweet succulent ANGST. Good stuff.
on the Other hand, some of the explanations are not good (like Adrien not finding out until after the butterfly is found? It makes no sense), and it hand waves a LOT of things. Not to mention, it does basically have Marinette, Kagami and Nathalie in this secret Cabal of secrets. Tomoe is basically not held accountable. And the whole Canon event thing and time travel basically means there is never any real danger. So it really takes the wind out of this.
But BUT, This special does at least imply that this secret will be the cause of tension, now the question is IF the show will actually deliver on this angst.
I dont hate this special as it does illuminate a LOT of what was missing from the Season 5 finale... that being said, I still hate the season 5 finale.
so its 6/10.

Last yap session on my lil' Doey AU before I post either art or a writing snippet, just something more creative than only My Thoughts.
Mainly wanted to yap real quick about scenarios like what each of them would do if they got sick and what I think the family dynamics are like:]
I yapped a LOT so if you enjoy the AU maybe just read small bits of this at a time and come back to read more later. Idk. Sorry for overyapping💔💔 Main info post for the AU linked in the pinned post on my account. These are pretty much all about a version of the AU where they escape together.
Dynamics
I feel like after all this time, Kevin has somewhat respect for Matthew. They shared a body and maybe even thoughts, so I think that's the only person who's authority would get through to him. Not that he'd always fully listen, but I think he'd know anything Matthew asks of him is out of the goodness of his heart. Probably one of his few certainties being that his brothers wouldn't want anything bad to happen to him, even if that's sometimes a hard thought to process.
Kevin might see a little bit of his younger self in Jack and therefore want to protect him in the ways he wasn't protected. I think after they got separate bodies he'd recognize him more as a little brother and less just another person sharing his body. I headcanon that Kevin has some sort of sensory issues related to sound, as the cause of his outbursts seems to stem from people talking too much and it being "too loud," so I honestly feel like he would be the best at understanding when someone is overwhelmed. So he'd probably be very careful with Jack and mentally list anything that could overstimulate him easily, to help avoid those things. It seems to me like Kevin was mainly a "problem child" because people punished rather than understood him, and maybe he wasn't always so angry/violent, and wants to protect Jack from the same fate.
Matthew and Jack are just a classic big brother little brother duo. Jack always running to him and sometimes Kevin (which he tries to less in worry of bothering him) for comfort. He might accidentally treat him more like a father figure than a brother which I could see stressing out Matthew a lot on accident.
The three of them together are just brothers who care for each other very much. I think sometimes they'd try and hide this from the player because of the lingering fear of once you show attachment, an adult will punish you with it. But they'd overall just stay very close together, not wanting to let each other out of their sight. Scared something would happen to the others if they're not there:(
Jack and Kissy would be adorable siblings I think. Both of them, while not intentionally trying to do so, would probably cause messes. Jack would get overexcited and encourage something like making a tower out of glass cups and neither of them would realize the risk until it falls and breaks. Kissy would carry him around a lot I think, and enjoy tossing a ball between them or trying to draw together.
Kevin and Kissy would probably be the good old "make my sister cry and your funeral won't be open casket" vs "hi this is my very cool brother isn't he the sweetest?:]" I don't think they'd hang out a ton but they'd probably check in on each other a lot. Make a lot of gifts for each other too. Kissy is probably more observant from being unable to speak and more able to listen, so I imagine she'd pick up quickly on Kevin's aversion to loud noises and ask the player if they had anything noise canceling to help him. Kevin would find a shiny rock or bracelet and bring it back to her.
Matthew and Kissy I can't think of a specific dynamic for. Just that they're close siblings, and Matthew is usually the one to help Kissy feel better when she's upset. They both seem to be characters that would sacrifice themselves easily so maybe they'd help balance each other out from that like "your worth doesn't come from how well you can protect them."
All four of them are literally just the best of siblings okay. I love them so much. They call care for each other so deeply and just want a world where the others are happy.
The player and Kissy would bond the quickest in terms of family dynamics. I imagine the player, regardless of gender ofc, would like dressing up with her in jewelry and skirts and stuff. Finding clothes that fit her might be hard, but skirts and bows seem to make her happy. One of the missed parts of her childhood the player is giving back. Maybe someone would somehow see Kissy and run away screaming, to which the player is just, "EXCUSE ME?? That is my DAUGHTER/SISTER/NIECE and she is BEAUTIFUL and deserves THE WORLD. FUCK YOU."
The Player and Matthew might have an oddly strained relationship at first. Matthew would treat it sort of like a business arrangement, or a deal. He keeps the others in line and does what the player says, and the player protects them all in exchange. They can't exactly go outside looking as they are. Once he notices the player taking on "his" role more, he might feel kind of worthless and kind of just sit in a corner for a day or two wondering why he's even needed. I think eventually he'd come to realize the player loves and sees him as family, having trouble accepting it and feeling selfish for wanting that. Wondering if people who let their families die deserved more family. It would be slow, but maybe one day he could understand he's a kid too, and deserves to be one.
Kevin would most certainly resent The Player for a long time, being the very last to have any faith in them. I feel like he'd given up on adults being good or understanding a long time ago. I think it would take months and months, and something like him getting sick before he slips up with a thought or word and realizes he has begun to trust them. This would undo pretty much all progress for a little bit, at least until the player manages to work it out with him and explain that as hard as it is, and as dumb as it may feel, he needs an adult to trust. Once, after a very, very long time, he finally somewhat accepts he cares for The Player, I think he'd get accidentally clingy. Upset when they leave and assuming the worst still, like they won't come back for him. Would watch them from corners and stuff a lot. I think he probably expresses love through directing his rage away from a person and instead towards whatever could hurt them. Maybe The Player would try and learn a sport for him considering he was mentioned to be physically active and would probably like them. Mostly I think what Kevin would need out of their dynamic is validation that he is enough, more than a simple "problem child," and perfect the way he is.
Jack might be the second quickest to bond with The Player in a family way. I think he wouldn't notice himself trusting them or viewing them as family until he slips up and accidentally calls them something like dad, sister, uncle, etc. In the case he sees them parentally I think he might feel like he's betraying his dead parents. In any other case it might be slightly easier for him to accept, but his fear of adults would get in the way a lot.
A very, very traumatized and confused family, but a family none the less. I think they'll be okay:]
Sick Ideas
Jack - I feel like he'd be very out it. Constantly mumbling about wanting his parents and talking about how sorry he is. Depending on the severity might begin to think he's back in the labs and think the player is trying to hurt him:c Kissy would probably spend most of her time letting him sleep on her until he got better. Matthew and Kevin, after so many losses, would probably both be so on edge and terrified of losing him.
Matthew - I think this scenario goes for any of them, I just feel like if he got sick it would be under a combo of self resentment, stress, and actual illness, so he would need the most help. The Player would end up having to seek out a doctor at some point, because they can only do so much. Since they all have medical trauma he'd probably beg and beg not to see a doctor, not to be torn apart and opened up again. I think that might push him to actively seek the player for comfort, because he's so terrified of what a doctor might do to him. Matthew would also deny himself as being sick for as long as he possible could, probably until the point of passing out.
Kevin - Like Matthew, he'd probably firmly deny being sick, and do so until the point of passing out. The difference is they'd force Matthew into a bed to pass out in, Kevin would basically go missing, hiding himself in a room and being found on the floor. The idea of being babied or cared for likely disgusts him, since so much resentment had built up around that stuff. I think at some more horrible point in the sickness, he'd accidentally say something like "[mom/dad/uncle/sister etc], it hurts so much. Help." And then get really salty about saying that out loud.
Kissy - Definitely would be the most willing to seek out help, but also suffer from medical trauma and refuse to take medicine. Would probably be very clingy and hugging a pillow the whole time.
The Player - Absolutely in denial that they're sick until the kids are forced to get a neighbor or somebody to come help. All of them would probably be living with the fear of losing The Player, staying close to them at all times and just hoping they'll get better soon. I imagine The Player might also feel immense guilt for being sick, because the kids would have to take care of themselves a lot more while they recovered.
HOLY YAP SESSION
BUT MY THOUGHTS?? EXIST NOW AT LEAST???
I hope that was fun to read. Might go back and edit spelling or wording later. Or even add more. Who knows. Hopefully the last yap before actual content🙏 (lest the angel known as mental health fall again and embrace the form of sadness and no motivation)

rachel and alec are specifically interesting to me re the undersider Situations as of early worm posting. thats right for the first time in my life im saying rachel specifically is interesting to me. everyone on the team is at least a bit lonely i think but it's so loud and obvious with rachel, because she's loud and obvious about everything. she's a disabled teen who's been homeless since she was very young. she was deeply abused by the foster home system, and the legal system responded to her wounded and confused outbursts as an autistic child by criminalizing her and hunting her down. she can't exist in public without the cops being called. society has done everything to demonstrate that it doesn't want her, and then blames her when she doesn't trust people.
brian says that the undersiders are the closest thing she can have to friends. alec says that they're the closest thing she has to a family. (which is an entire can of worms in itself wrt alec's relation to the undersiders.) and both of those things are true, but there's also something so tragic in their assumption that their tenuous connection w/ rachel where she can only just barely tolerate them is the best she can ever have. they're the only people she can even remotely trust to have her back or treat her somewhat fairly instead of fucking her over, but they're still fundamentally considering her beyond close connection, less of a friend or someone to attempt befriending and more of someone to keep on a leash. of course taylor is the only one to actually get close to her--taylor is the only one who tries to engage with her, as a person, on rachel's own terms, instead of begrudgingly tolerating her. rachel :(
& alec is the other team member who's in the Extra Lonely Isolation Club...he gets silly with the team sometimes, he has his little teenage banter w/ brian, he and lisa are clearly very familiar with each other in the way ppl who've been living together for a year and a half are. it's really good for him. it's the first time in his entire life he's gotten to have a consistent home with his own belongings, and he's getting to have it because he's part of the undersiders. the undersiders are literally the first people in his entire life that approach counting as a friendship. he gets SO FUCKING MAD!!! when he leaps to assuming that rachel stole the money from them. he gets So Mad he immediately goes "i vote we kill her" and then goes on a seething rant about how he wouldn't have thought she'd do that since the undersiders are the closest she has to family, but apparently she would. and the projection is so obvious! he's not wrong about applying the sentiment to rachel, but there's a reason he goes farther than brian's "closest she has to friends" and into the more intimate territory of "closest she has to family"--the two-way street there means that the undersiders are the closest he has to family, and the idea of being betrayed by one of them hurts enough to trigger the aggression he always displays when he's feeling vulnerable.
and he still doesn't tell them Jack Shit. he obviously lies to them all the fucking time, because brian is under the impression that he "dropped out" of school, when the reality is that he never went. even lisa brings up heartbreaker to taylor without any awareness that he's the father of the boy she's been living with for over a year. alec spends most of the early arcs in worm in dissociative, depressed fugues. the other undersiders have lengthy conversations where they're sharing personal info and he's just trailing along behind them, not speaking for so long that even the readers can forget he's there. lonely broken little shell of a boy who is so empty all of the time and does not even know it. aisha cannot get here fast enough if i have to see him being depressed and disconnected for one (1) more chapter i will explode

Is it too much to ask?
Avengers! Bucky& Reader
WC:767
A/N: I don’t normally take naps during the day but today I did and apparently I woke up feeling inspired. This is just an outburst of fluff! 😘
Gif not mine
Warnings: emotional support, Bucky being a friend—we love to see it.

You could never find Bucky Barnes intimidating. Regardless of his past, regardless of his physique you couldn’t see him as a threat.
Which is why you were quick to befriend him. No one else on the team managed to bond with him as quickly as you did. At first no one wanted to be his friend, apart from you and Steve, but they quickly got over that when they saw Bucky take a bullet for you while on a mission.
Bucky was a good man. Sure he’d been brainwashed to commit crimes but at his core he was and still is a good man.
After he took that bullet for you he became more talkative, even if it was in private just the two of you but he was talking. He became your friend. He is someone, sometimes the only one, you turn to when you’re feeling blue.
I wish I was special to someone.
Today was one of those days. It was Morgan’s birthday and while everyone was celebrating the little girl’s 7th birthday you sneaked off to the indoor greenhouse. That’s where Bucky found you, because of course he was the only one to notice your absence.
He quietly snuck into the room while you were watering the daisies. “Hey you.” He whispered when he reached your side.
“Hey.”
He could tell something was off, you were being monosyllabic. Bucky took the watering can from your hands and set it aside, then pulled you into his chest for a bear hug.
Neither of you said anything for a while, you just stood there with your face nestled into his warm chest while he rested his chin on top of your head. Occasionally pressing a kiss to the crown of your head.
“You good?” He finally asked, still not letting go of you.
You simply nodded your head.
“Then how come you’re hiding out while everyone is up there having a good time? That’s usually my thing.”
You took a deep breath, “Special days have a special way to remind me that…well, I’m just me. You know?”
“I’m not sure I get it. Tell me more.” He encouraged you by rubbing circles on your back. “You know I won’t judge.”
“Okay. You know I'm happy for Tony and Pepper. They’ve figured it out, how to keep doing what we do and still have a life, a family. And while I know I’m Morgan’s favorite avenger—yes, I know that she loves you but she told me herself I’m her favorite— I still feel…inadequate. Incomplete and sometimes just unhappy, lost and like I just don’t belong… I guess I just wish I was special to someone.”
That hit Bucky like a ton of bricks.
He very much understood now what you meant. Hell, he could relate.
“Baby, you are special to me, to the team.”
He definitely slipped by calling you baby but he needed you to understand that you make a difference in his life. You truly are special to him, in more ways that he can even explain.
You dared to look up at him and found yourself hypnotized by the sincerity in his eyes. “You think I’m special?”
“You are the most special and important person in my life. And I know what it's like to want something…to want someone, to want someone to be your special someone.”
“Uncle Buck? Y/N?” Morgan interrupted the moment, “come on! We’re gonna open presents and have cake!!”
“Well we can’t miss that now can we?” Bucky said and pulled you by the hand and followed Morgan up to the main floor.
“Bucky,” you whispered as you stood by his side on the ride up the elevator. “What did you mean by that?”
His grip on your hand tightened, “Sweetheart, I’m saying you are my special, you have my heart and it’s yours if you want it.” He smiled at you then dropped a kiss to your cheek.
You felt like bursting into tears.
He wasn’t one to express his feelings so freely or openly so you knew he was serious about this. You didn’t get a chance to say anything back because just then the elevator dinged and the doors opened.
Bucky let go of your hand and whispered, “you don’t have to say anything…just think about it.”
You followed him out, almost had to jog to keep up with his pace. Once he was within your reach you grabbed his hand and laced your fingers. That stopped him in his tracks.
“There’s nothing to think about. It’s you and I, James. You have my heart too.”
