Last yap session on my lil' Doey AU before I post either art or a writing snippet, just something more creative than only My Thoughts.

Mainly wanted to yap real quick about scenarios like what each of them would do if they got sick and what I think the family dynamics are like:]

I yapped a LOT so if you enjoy the AU maybe just read small bits of this at a time and come back to read more later. Idk. Sorry for overyapping💔💔 Main info post for the AU linked in the pinned post on my account. These are pretty much all about a version of the AU where they escape together.

Dynamics

I feel like after all this time, Kevin has somewhat respect for Matthew. They shared a body and maybe even thoughts, so I think that's the only person who's authority would get through to him. Not that he'd always fully listen, but I think he'd know anything Matthew asks of him is out of the goodness of his heart. Probably one of his few certainties being that his brothers wouldn't want anything bad to happen to him, even if that's sometimes a hard thought to process.

Kevin might see a little bit of his younger self in Jack and therefore want to protect him in the ways he wasn't protected. I think after they got separate bodies he'd recognize him more as a little brother and less just another person sharing his body. I headcanon that Kevin has some sort of sensory issues related to sound, as the cause of his outbursts seems to stem from people talking too much and it being "too loud," so I honestly feel like he would be the best at understanding when someone is overwhelmed. So he'd probably be very careful with Jack and mentally list anything that could overstimulate him easily, to help avoid those things. It seems to me like Kevin was mainly a "problem child" because people punished rather than understood him, and maybe he wasn't always so angry/violent, and wants to protect Jack from the same fate.

Matthew and Jack are just a classic big brother little brother duo. Jack always running to him and sometimes Kevin (which he tries to less in worry of bothering him) for comfort. He might accidentally treat him more like a father figure than a brother which I could see stressing out Matthew a lot on accident.

The three of them together are just brothers who care for each other very much. I think sometimes they'd try and hide this from the player because of the lingering fear of once you show attachment, an adult will punish you with it. But they'd overall just stay very close together, not wanting to let each other out of their sight. Scared something would happen to the others if they're not there:(

Jack and Kissy would be adorable siblings I think. Both of them, while not intentionally trying to do so, would probably cause messes. Jack would get overexcited and encourage something like making a tower out of glass cups and neither of them would realize the risk until it falls and breaks. Kissy would carry him around a lot I think, and enjoy tossing a ball between them or trying to draw together.

Kevin and Kissy would probably be the good old "make my sister cry and your funeral won't be open casket" vs "hi this is my very cool brother isn't he the sweetest?:]" I don't think they'd hang out a ton but they'd probably check in on each other a lot. Make a lot of gifts for each other too. Kissy is probably more observant from being unable to speak and more able to listen, so I imagine she'd pick up quickly on Kevin's aversion to loud noises and ask the player if they had anything noise canceling to help him. Kevin would find a shiny rock or bracelet and bring it back to her.

Matthew and Kissy I can't think of a specific dynamic for. Just that they're close siblings, and Matthew is usually the one to help Kissy feel better when she's upset. They both seem to be characters that would sacrifice themselves easily so maybe they'd help balance each other out from that like "your worth doesn't come from how well you can protect them."

All four of them are literally just the best of siblings okay. I love them so much. They call care for each other so deeply and just want a world where the others are happy.

The player and Kissy would bond the quickest in terms of family dynamics. I imagine the player, regardless of gender ofc, would like dressing up with her in jewelry and skirts and stuff. Finding clothes that fit her might be hard, but skirts and bows seem to make her happy. One of the missed parts of her childhood the player is giving back. Maybe someone would somehow see Kissy and run away screaming, to which the player is just, "EXCUSE ME?? That is my DAUGHTER/SISTER/NIECE and she is BEAUTIFUL and deserves THE WORLD. FUCK YOU."

The Player and Matthew might have an oddly strained relationship at first. Matthew would treat it sort of like a business arrangement, or a deal. He keeps the others in line and does what the player says, and the player protects them all in exchange. They can't exactly go outside looking as they are. Once he notices the player taking on "his" role more, he might feel kind of worthless and kind of just sit in a corner for a day or two wondering why he's even needed. I think eventually he'd come to realize the player loves and sees him as family, having trouble accepting it and feeling selfish for wanting that. Wondering if people who let their families die deserved more family. It would be slow, but maybe one day he could understand he's a kid too, and deserves to be one.

Kevin would most certainly resent The Player for a long time, being the very last to have any faith in them. I feel like he'd given up on adults being good or understanding a long time ago. I think it would take months and months, and something like him getting sick before he slips up with a thought or word and realizes he has begun to trust them. This would undo pretty much all progress for a little bit, at least until the player manages to work it out with him and explain that as hard as it is, and as dumb as it may feel, he needs an adult to trust. Once, after a very, very long time, he finally somewhat accepts he cares for The Player, I think he'd get accidentally clingy. Upset when they leave and assuming the worst still, like they won't come back for him. Would watch them from corners and stuff a lot. I think he probably expresses love through directing his rage away from a person and instead towards whatever could hurt them. Maybe The Player would try and learn a sport for him considering he was mentioned to be physically active and would probably like them. Mostly I think what Kevin would need out of their dynamic is validation that he is enough, more than a simple "problem child," and perfect the way he is.

Jack might be the second quickest to bond with The Player in a family way. I think he wouldn't notice himself trusting them or viewing them as family until he slips up and accidentally calls them something like dad, sister, uncle, etc. In the case he sees them parentally I think he might feel like he's betraying his dead parents. In any other case it might be slightly easier for him to accept, but his fear of adults would get in the way a lot.

A very, very traumatized and confused family, but a family none the less. I think they'll be okay:]

Sick Ideas

Jack - I feel like he'd be very out it. Constantly mumbling about wanting his parents and talking about how sorry he is. Depending on the severity might begin to think he's back in the labs and think the player is trying to hurt him:c Kissy would probably spend most of her time letting him sleep on her until he got better. Matthew and Kevin, after so many losses, would probably both be so on edge and terrified of losing him.

Matthew - I think this scenario goes for any of them, I just feel like if he got sick it would be under a combo of self resentment, stress, and actual illness, so he would need the most help. The Player would end up having to seek out a doctor at some point, because they can only do so much. Since they all have medical trauma he'd probably beg and beg not to see a doctor, not to be torn apart and opened up again. I think that might push him to actively seek the player for comfort, because he's so terrified of what a doctor might do to him. Matthew would also deny himself as being sick for as long as he possible could, probably until the point of passing out.

Kevin - Like Matthew, he'd probably firmly deny being sick, and do so until the point of passing out. The difference is they'd force Matthew into a bed to pass out in, Kevin would basically go missing, hiding himself in a room and being found on the floor. The idea of being babied or cared for likely disgusts him, since so much resentment had built up around that stuff. I think at some more horrible point in the sickness, he'd accidentally say something like "[mom/dad/uncle/sister etc], it hurts so much. Help." And then get really salty about saying that out loud.

Kissy - Definitely would be the most willing to seek out help, but also suffer from medical trauma and refuse to take medicine. Would probably be very clingy and hugging a pillow the whole time.

The Player - Absolutely in denial that they're sick until the kids are forced to get a neighbor or somebody to come help. All of them would probably be living with the fear of losing The Player, staying close to them at all times and just hoping they'll get better soon. I imagine The Player might also feel immense guilt for being sick, because the kids would have to take care of themselves a lot more while they recovered.

I also like you what you said in a reply about Lester having become so desensitized to his actions in the arena during the test. That came through very clearly, and provides a super interesting angle to that part of the story. That man has isssssues. Oof.

╰┈➤ P.S Not a finished piece of my story about Rochelles Pov BUT I need to know if this kind of shows her as more of a 3D character... somewhat anyway. Obviously there'll be more things about her past, yada yada. I just didn't want to dump all this information out in the first few paragraphs... 💔💔

The apocalypse was something she never expected to happen. It was just fiction, a story to tell kids on Halloween. It's a scenario where you can imagine yourself being the badass protagonist. It wasn't meant to be real.

Working in news lead Rochelle to being the woman she was today. So many reports of crimes and attacks. She's desensitized to a lot of gorey sights.

The first week of reports. People were starting to get sick, not a huge deal, a few masks and washings hand thoroughly would help. The station she worked in plastered these signs around. Almost every day was it shown time and time again.

The second week of reports. Okay, it was getting worse. It had to be ignorant people, right? People that thought the Green Flu was a joke. Not to mention the people with bad immune systems or the elderly… children. God, she didn't want to think about it. Too many people could easily get sick. Regardless, they were fine... right?

Third week of reports, coworkers started calling in sick. Okay… odd. They were most likely just afraid, that was reasonable. It was a bad thought but thoses calling in sick gave her more work, an unspoken promotion.

Fourth week of reports. The sickness got bad in certain parts of the US. Rochelle got sent to Savannah Georgia to do segments on CEDA evacuation centers. New job, and if she did this it'd be a promotion most definitely. It should've been easy, nothing exactly wrong with that. Doing the news reports were somewhat new but she's knows what to do, not a huge deal.

Fifth week of reports. The world went to shit.

Sirens were alarming as people were ushered to near evac stations to get out the town slowly being over run with zombies. Screams and cries of pleading were heard. Riots and outright panic plagued the city of Savannah. She abandoned everything, her safety mattered more then some stupid news channel.

The ground underneath her caused her body to reverberate with each hard step she took. The boots she wore today weren't helping either.

A tall building, a hotel, labeled 'The Vannah' was her most recent segment she documented for evac. That had to do. Her prayers ran high, hoping she wouldn't be too late or god help her.

Quickening her pace, she ran, shoving people out of her way. Others had the same idea as her, but they headed a different way. She opted for going to the staircase located near the corner of the hotel, less foot traffic and straight up to the roof.

Ascending the eight floors, she met up with some others. The eldest man, heaving and huffing. He wore a shirt with a local highschool logo on it. Another, slighy ahead of her was encouraging them to keep going. He was a country hick, no doubt. The accent gave it away to her. Lastly, a guy with a suit. He was… Something.

Rochelle didn't pay much mind, she just focused on getting to the helicopter and getting out of here.

Her body ached as the four of them made it to the roof. The Southerner opened the door. All they could see was the helicopter preparing to take off. Shit!

Panic immediately sets deep into her body as she rushes forward. Unfortunately, they were all too late. The helicopter left without the body.

She waved her arms in the air, looking utterly stupid, but all the same she was desperate to get them to turn around, “Hey! Come back!”

None of her pleas got answered as the helicopter was moving away from the hotel. What was she meant to do now?

The southerner, with his hands on his knees as he was breathing in and out heavily, “Shit, whirlybirds left without us!”

That seemed to tick off fancy suit. All he let out was a scoff.

The young'un moved the cap on his head before scratching his head. He then nudged his head up before looking at the rest of the group, "Looks like that whirlybirds headin' to the mall."

Fancy suit seemsd to have enough with the southener as he spat out, "It is a helicopter. If you call it that one more time I'm gonna—"

"I'll call it what I like, fancy suit," The hick replied. He wasn't very happy with this guy.

"Will you two shut up?" She butted in, her fingers pinching the bridge of her nose. She wanted to get out of her as fast as possible, maybe, y'know, get to safety instead of bickering.

In a moments notice, the man in the white suit was right in front her, most staring mockingly, "What? You got somethin' to say, sweetheart?"

"You three, shut up!" Coach, she had associated him as due to the fact he looked like a coach. He shook his head, arms crossed over his chest. His eyes were looking through the chain link fence, watching the helicopter,* "Looks like it's headin' towards the mall. I live around here and it ain't that far."

Silence went through the four of them. What other choice did they really have?

“C'mon, let's get moving, I don't like being in buildings that are actively on fire.” Fancy suit said. It seemed he was in considerably in a better mood.

However, this information set some unease in her gut. The building was on fire? Since when? She shook off those thoughts. Her eyes landed on a weapon pile nearby. That was good. It seemed they made passengers for the evac center to throw them off to the side. The surprise part was that they were still here.

“Should probably get some weapons. I work in news and well… the news says we should get weapons,” She said, heading over to the weapons left behind from those who hopefully managed to escape with their lives.

Crouching down she went to grab a pistol, the cold metal against her fingers felt so abnormal. She touched msny metal things but these things were going to kill. A shiver ran down her spine. She couldn't even shoot a gun, so what was the point in having one?

Shaking off the thoughts in her head as she put it to the side. Her fingers collided with something less cold, it was more wooden. Instinctly, grabbing it out the pile she found an axe, battered and barely attached to the handle, but at least it was something she could actually use. Holding the handle was just a simple reminder of the life before, a life she alresdy missed.

The polished surface was smooth against her palm, a reminder of a time that felt so long ago. The tension through her felt like a spring that was ready to be released. Her fingertips were going a bit pale in comparison to the rest of her body.

2017-18 we got to the ecf riding on rookie jt's shoulders (also smh terry shot us out of that game 7). 18-19 we were a second round exit 😔. i'll always side eye kyrie for the bucks series. 19-20 the raptors series gassed us badly and it's not like they choked? the heat were the #1 seed? 20-21 first-round exit bc jaylen hurt and jayson had to drop fifty just to win a game against the superteam nets. 21-22 was the first finals year and like, jayson and jaylen had to basically go 100 from january bc we were at .500 for the first half of the season. our path was sooo much harder than the warriors. like the whole 24 playoff run, it was all the celtics weren't 'battle-tested' like we didn't have to go through the kd-kyrie nets, giannis and the bucks, and the heat with their Devil Magic in 2022. you can't just say they 'never finish' without the CONTEXT (sorry i get fired up about this). and ok fine, 22-23 we choked (had a first-year hc for all its worth)

AHHHHHH OMGOMG I FINISHED INDULGENCE AND I'M OBSESSED!!! im in love with the way you write and that scene with sabrina was actually SO emotional when all she could think about in her last moments was jake ☹️☹️ and the way dr lee died?? omg like i know there were so many victims and 106 is CRAZY (le sserafim mentioned⁉️) but her one hit HARD because the reader has already sort of formed a connection with her from the previous parts and i really did grow to like her character. honestly idk if it was intended to be that way but jake walking down covered in blood and just being like "dad im hungry" was a little funny to me 😭 but it also really just shows how desensitised he had become to murder and gore, and sunghoon exposing him to all of it and letting him watch his own snuff films as a child is SICK.

i also really enjoyed the concept of sunghoon reminiscing about the past murders while being interrogated, the shifts between past and present were so intriguing and i loved every bit of it. there's so much depth to the fic considering the fact it's relatively short and it makes me want to reread it and just spend my time picking the layers apart and really getting into every nook of it, you did a great job!!

(im sorry for how long this is i just have so much to say and i have even more thoughts that i haven't put down here to save you the trouble of reading a whole ass essay but indulgence was a work of art and i love you for writing it 😣💕)

MC-centered, tho some can be read more generally. If anyone's answer is short/vague it's because I wanted to avoid spoilers.

Jade/Jean- j feels like a child sometimes—naive, hopeless, attention-seeking, validation-seeking—especially when it comes to you, and they quite honestly hate it. j feels an overpowering need to pick up the pieces, to fix all your messes. it’s an all-consuming desire for order and control. for you to see that effort and label it as unwanted leaves j feeling— like a child. they need to be needed.

Uma- words don’t really hurt uma as much as they used to. they’ve had to grow and learn that pleasing everyone around them is wishful thinking. there is one utterance—which you’ve said before, which you promised to take back—that manages to shatter uma: ‘goodbye.’

Statler- after carefully molding their life in hopes of achieving—the pride of their loved ones—perfection, statler just expects events to work out, to succeed one another like a children’s comic book—in which problems are minimum and resolved swiftly. statler holds their lifelong plans with extremely high regard. they know they want their partner to be a part of it—they don’t know how to cope with anyone finding said plans silly or naive.

Wanda- though wanda doesn’t usually date anymore, she has had so many heartbreaks and disillusions when it comes to former partners— it almost feels like she has long become desensitized to her partners causing her pain. wanda has been cheated on, slut shamed, and gaslighted... and she’s taken each disappointment in stride. what no partner of hers has done before is reject her daughter.

Kai- trust doesn’t come cheap, and kai’s seems to be worth a fortune. they’ve taken the leap by accepting a relationship with someone—if kai could put a price on his ability to commit, well, few would be able to afford it. after all of that, rejection feels too much like a punch to the gut.

Travis- unfortunately, he knows that the two of you have only scraped the top of the barrel of hurt. travis thinks—a little irrationally sometimes—that you’ve already done all you could to break him.

omg i LOVEDDDD orv i read it on my phone in the summer of 2023 when i had nothing else to do and it was genuinely so so good like the novel is PEAK i never read the webcomic version because i’m attached to the translations in the novel even though they’re not “official” but genuinely the novel is probably one of if not THE best things i’ve ever read like it actually changed my brain chemistry fr (it’s a long build but the ending arc is peak fiction)

SAE WON 💔 but very proud of karasu nation and barou nation for locking in and getting them so close to sae that was def unexpected!! and yeahhh that’s the vibe i was getting too like there’s no way for them to realistically be involved w aiku so it wouldn’t make sense for them to be there PLUS i don’t like them that much so i can’t cook up an idea to involve them w aiku the way i did w nagi 😰 speaking of which i think i have the idea for yukimiya HAHA basically aiku is like “okay we’re the two oldest blue lock members let’s be best friends 😄” and yukimiya is like “thanks but i already have a bestie ☺️” and ofc aiku is like WHAT and has to do some heavy recon (he probs recruits niko too LMAO atp niko is an honorary wingman just because he’s consistently aiku’s sidekick) and that’s where he finds reader which makes be like “hold on there is definitely something romantic going on here” so he tries to get yuki and reader together in order to finally have a soccer playing bff who’s also relatively normal (@ barou)

the craziest thing abt dude bros glazing barou is that he’s physically their ideal but in every other way he is NOTHING like them!! like that man respects women, cooks and cleans, is willing to accept his mistakes and work on them, hates people who are mid…he would think they’re goofy asf 😭

KDJDKSSJ i normally don’t really go for the white haired characters but nagi is an exception…my other top favs have been eren from aot (brown hair), megumi and yuta from jjk (black hair), and shinah from yotd (blue hair??) HAHA honesty karasu and rin are very in line w the kinds of characters i typically like physically but idk smth abt nagi appeals to me the most 🙂‍↕️

Can be a bit oblivious? Insensitive? He's desensitized to a lot of things, and usually forgets other people are not used to the stuff he finds normal.

Family, for sure. If he sees you as part of the family (even outside of blood relation), your safety is on top of his priorities.

🍛 CURRY AND RICE — what does your oc's typical dinner look like? do they usually eat dinner?

Dinner at the Todd house is usually just all the leftovers they had for lunch. Lunch is the big, important meal since it's around that time that everyone refuels after a full morning of work.

Meat and potatoes are a staple. Typically they have some roast beef or steak, mashed potatoes, and string beans or buttered vegetables. Sometimes, Susannah makes a casserole or pasta. And Nathan gets to wash it down with a glass of ice cold water, sweet tea, or lemonade.

💋 First kiss fics. Love em or hate em?

unfortunately I'm a big big slut for "getting together" fics or "confession" fics, particularly between kids or teens where the first kiss is a BIG BIG DEAL, haha. I think that might be kind of basic of me? But i like the uncertainty/anticipation of the first kiss/confession moments. I probably wont even click on an established relationship fic unless Ive read the getting together from the same author because like....i need to know how they got there.

🤩 Who is your favorite character to write?

mannnnnn Idk if i can pick a favorite. I'll be looking through my body of work and go "oh i miss Webby's special cocktail of innocence and bloodlust and autism" or "I miss Alberto's cocksure attitude and raw bleeding heart" or "i miss Kjell he's such a fucking cunt." Bettel was an enormous amount of fun to write because he has a very unique and silly voice and I'll never ever write him again.

💔 Is there a fic of yours that broke your heart?

ohhhh mmm idk. when i write stuff in the moment its tugs at my heartstrings, but i get really desensitized to it over time, yknow? all the rereading and editing inoculates me against my own gut punches. Blue on Blue is probably a safe bet though.
