After the fight, after everything, when they're back in Whitestone, Percy makes his way to Grog's room.

Sex happens. Again.

An AU of the final episode of Campaign 1.

Beginning under the cut

“I completely understand if you want to stay with Cassandra for the night. Would you mind not being very comfortable, though? I was thinking of camping in the woods.”

Cassandra lies still under the blankets, her face bruised. She is breathing deeply. The healers assured him she isn’t in pain, that she will make a full recovery. He doesn’t look away from her face as he answers Vex. “I think- I think I’d rather stay here. I’m sorry.”

“Oh. Of course, yeah.”

“Perhaps… Keyleth could use a friend right now. She shouldn’t be alone.”

“That’s a good point, yeah.”

He drags his eyes to Vex. She looks so small. Guilt knots in his stomach. She lost... He said... He should go with her, keep her company. He can’t bring himself to say the words.

“See you tomorrow?”

She nods, eyes averted. “See you tomorrow.”

She leaves and he listens to her fading footsteps. Waits another minute.

He grabs a guard walking past the door. “Please send for the Grand Poobah. He is needed in his room.”

“Right away, Sir.” The guard bows and hurries off.

He looks back at Cassandra. Safe. Alive.

He leaves.

Grog isn’t in his room when Percy arrives. It might take the guard a while to find him, depending where Grog wandered off to. He looks around the room, takes in all of Grog’s belongings. Sits on the bed and lets it settle that Grog made his home here. That he lives here. That Percy gets to keep him. And then the door opens and Grog ducks into the room. He fills out the frame, expression unreadable, and for the first time that day Percy takes a deep breath, feels his lungs expand with air.

“Hi.”

Grog nods and the door falls shut behind him as he walks up to the bed, locking out the world. He stops in front of Percy, caresses his cheek, and Percy closes his eyes.

(“Freddie. Freddie.” But it hadn’t been about him, had it? Stupid.)

Grog’s hand slides to the back of his head, grabs his hair, gives a sharp tug. Percy’s breath hitches.

“Didn’t expect you here.”

SO MANY PEOPLE GUESSED CORRECTLY!#It wasn't that hard #We know Papyrus knows the river person #are they friends? idk BUT I PERSONALLY THINK THEY ARE #I just LOVEEE looking at the dialogue and making connections #I referenced one of the lines from the river person here...sometimes they'll ask you if you know any game you can play with a dog...#They said they were “asking for a friend...”#And I couldn't help but think about Papyrus' problem with the annoying dog LMAO #+ Papyrus seems very excited to know if the river person is there when you call him nearby that area #Okay so... now ...some comic thing that I made up but also didn't...#“FLOWEY DOESN'T KNOW WHO THE RIVER PERSON IS?”#okay so...#I feel like #It's not very common for them to be there...#When talking with Undyne around that area it's kind of *unclear* if she knows about the river person being there....#She tells you about the river connecting different areas and that you should “jump in”#She then clarifies that's the only thing they got for public transport #AND LIKE? It's unclear if she's telling you to jump in the boat (OR IF SHE KNOWS THERE'S SOMEONE WITH A BOAT) or is she's literally telling #you to jump in the river?????#Anyways...so...that's that #HEHE Flowey and Papyrus finally arrived at the house! fionna and cake drawings before and after watching the episodes so far. it’s nostalgic and somehow cathartic and poignant and relatable and—it just started

#i’m part of the demographic where i was a kid when adventure time started and now watching fionna and cake as an adult makes me emotional #because did they keep us in mind when writing fionna and her attitude towards life #the dissatisfaction #the hoping for something more #something more magical than this dreary life filled with working to live and living to work #it’s so reflective of how life feels for me and perhaps many of us #and also Simon’s episode was so sad but so well thought out #exploring his feelings after the events of the adventure time finale is something I’m glad we get to see #there were already so many layers to his character in AT but now it feels like we get to dive deeper #I also felt emotional hearing Rebecca Sugar singing and writing a song that encapsulates his feelings so well #😭 it’s been awhile seeing her work exist alongside these characters #and all of these emotions get stronger because I remember AT being the one to inspire me to be a storyboard artist #when I was younger I used to follow many of the board artists here in tumblr and would get so inspired by them #to create simple but powerful boards that can capture the feelings of characters so well #Rebecca Sugar’s songs for the AT characters inspired me so much too #I’m sorry this is long I’m just feeling so many things experiencing all of this again as an adult #my art #fanart #adventure time #fionna and cake #fionna the human #cake the cat #simon petrikov
