Some TimeBomb Analysis I felt was very heartbreakingly necessary in this trying time:
Ekko comes to realise by being in this world that Jinx was always Powder, in the same way that Vi comes to reconcile the two 'versions' of her, Ekko sees all the ways Jinx's savvy-ness and cunning and brains were always Powder. He gave her up for dead - like his dream of a beautiful Zaun - a long time ago, and painted the mural to show it. But being here with Powder makes him realise he can still have this is he's willing to take her as she is now, flaws and all.
So we all know Ekko is really talking about Jinx in the line "I used to dream the undercity could be like this", but I also think the opposite is true for his last line: "Can we pretend like it's the first time?" is about the kiss, but it's also about this version of reality. It's about Benzo being alive and Powder being Powder. It's about stepping back from his real world for a second to pretend that this is his real world. He was always going to go back, but just like his use of the Z-drive means that he could theoretically re-do and undo all of his mistakes ad infinitum, this is an acknowledgement that this 'redo' is how he wished it has been, and that it isn't real for him at the same time. Because it isn't the final time he will pull the plunger and reset. But he wishes that it was.
3. Jinx has a very difficult relationship with abandonment, obviously. But these lines encapsulate her journey towards accepting that no, actually, the people who love her will always refuse to give her up no matter how much she believes doing so would save them (including Silco and Isha and even Vander since the enforcers come after the kids for the stones she steals.) Never giving up on her empowers both Ekko and Vi in the final hours of the show. Their relationships with Jinx and the strength of that connection in the fullness and acceptance of all of its flaws and history means that they can do and achieve anything. Not giving up on her means not giving up even when everything falls apart around them. It's the crux of Ekko's time travel ability - he will always remember what really happened in all of those loops, he still carries those scars and physical damage, but he keeps trying anyways and that is what saves the world.
4. Jinx is the 'someone worth building for.' Yes, this line is about TimeBomb but it's also very strictly about Jinx. It's about Jinx needing to know that her life also have worth for herself. Her inventions have by and large been built for the sake of others - her toy weapons to impress the others/keep up with them, the canon for Silco. She rebuilds Sevika's arm because she wants to feel useful for someone again. But she doesn't value her own input into the world for her own sake. Ekko isn't asking her to fix the world here, or to make good on her mistakes. There is no 'fixing' or 'undoing' or even 'rewriting' the way Vi wants her too, the way the Zaunites do with her legacy. There is only something new. And her life is worthy purely for whatever creations she adds to the world, regardless of whether they can undo the past. There's something so achy about that coming from the Boy Saviour. He isn't really here to save Jinx from herself - he just wants her to know she can do that saving on her own.
5. Jinx always knew what she needed to do to break the cycle. But she grew up with too many people who never wanted to let go of the past. In the end, we see her airship fly not towards Piltover (in some desperate rewrite of her failed story in Zaun) but away from it. She gets out, she pursues something new, the image loops but moves towards a new trajectory with a different (better) ending, just like Ekko shows her is possible with the Z-drive.
Two sides of the same coin. She leaves Zaun to see something new, and he returns to Zaun to see it in all of its fullness. I think they'll be alright.

I still don´t get what they thought they would achieve with Brad but it seems to never have crossed their minds that people would actually NOT care for the character. It is wild how much screentime he got, in a mid-season finale no less, and this public ass kissing of cast and the official account after he left is so weird. Nobody piled hate on the character or the actor they just were not interested, so why the need for this outpouring of support all of the sudden?
When the next character making eyes at either Buck or Eddie comes around and this lot decides to stay silent again we will all have our answer without a shadow of a doubt. That they hang the LI out to dry because they are scared shitless of Buddie backlash, but will jump into action for the next bit part player who just wasn´t as popular as they thought he would be.
I really started to dislike them, not gonna lie. I like Tommy, I like bucktommy but I will cheer on who ever comes next for Buck or Eddie just out of spite now. Because whoever plays them will be treated like shit by the fandom and will get no help from the mean girls clique that is the 911 production
Hi, Nonnie! Thanks for the ask. I see what you're saying, and overall I have to agree.
Here is my take. I try to play devil's advocate and give grace as much as possible. But earlier today I went on Twitter, and I saw a hate tweet (disclaimer: I've blocked hundreds of BD accounts by now, and I have blocked many, many words to not find a new one, but a BT account I follow had quoted it, so I saw it). In it, they were essentially laughing and having a party at the goodbye comments Callum had received, because that 'confirms' for them that the cast hates Lou. That they knew before, but now it's confirmed.
And the thing is... I've said it before, Lou is not a defenseless little boy. He's a grown man that, in my opinion, has a great head on his shoulders and knows very well what he's doing. And he's a busy man. So I honestly don't think he gives two craps about some losers on Twitter claiming his co-workers hate him - he knows better (he knows what happened), and he's the one with a career in acting and loving fans, so. Does he deserve the harassment? Hell, no. But I don't think he cares if some loser claims the cast hates him.
However. This behavior is only enabling hate. Not addressing the hate the LIs go through and the harassment the actors receive isn't just 'ignoring the hate so it goes away'. Ignoring that behavior and then showing support for other guest stars tells the deranged fans that they are good to go. That their bullying and hate is allowed, justified.
Is that the truth? Well, no. But it is what has happened. Because all the people being this hateful and sending harassment or death threats fully believe the show has their backs because nothing has told them otherwise.
Is it the intention of the show? No.
Is it still what they're accomplishing by their lack of response? Yes.
I don't overall dislike the cast as people because I don't know them. But the representation of themselves they're giving right now,? Not exactly a fan of that.
Also, as for Brad... I just have to laugh. They fully thought the Facebook moms would fall deep in love with him, and didn't take into account their hearts were already taken by Tommy, and that they'd be heartbroken enough for Tommy to not care for a character that doesn't have nearly the same charisma or depth.
Anyway. Thanks for letting me rant, lmao.
My inbox is always open for venting, ranting, and to discuss any topics <3
Take care!

i understand the confusion that arises here if you think of transmisogyny as the intersection between transphobia and misogyny -- and i'm not saying that to be an asshole, i'm saying that because i had the same confusion for a while. but using the intersection framing isn't very helpful here since transphobia is ultimately the consequence of patriarchy & misogyny which, as you point out, impacts all trans people.
so, the better way of looking at it is to understand it as a form of misogyny that specifically impacts trans women. i realize this is a subtle difference, but it is still a difference that matters nonetheless. it makes more sense, too, when you consider the mechanisms at play with patriarchy. for example, if cis women are subjugated on the basis of their ability to physically reproduce and are made to provide free reproductive labor, then what happens to the trans woman who cannot fulfill that same role? and the answer, both historically and nowadays, is the relegation of trans women to a sort of social third class. economically, we see throughout history that they are frequently unemployed or involved with sex work, which is a reality that cis women also frequently experienced if they were unable to achieve getting married, having kids, maintaining their reputation and if their husband was unable to prevent the family from falling into poverty.
this is just one example of many, but the point here is that trans women experience very similar outcomes to cis women because of patriarchy, but their outcomes more frequently resemble the worst-case social/economic scenario of cis women because they are trans. there was never an opportunity to have a better life.
trans men, on the other hand, generally have a different experience when they are understood socially to be men. stories of figures you could consider to be trans masculine are often described a women dressing as men to achieve a better life for themselves -- that reality reflects what i'm trying to communicate. that's not to say that trans men never had it bad or that they never experienced misogyny, but what it does communicate as that being perceived by society as a man has historically yielded different opportunities and outcomes than being perceived as a woman. for instance, when i read stories of historical trans men, they're usually able to sort of live under cover and work very blue collar jobs because those jobs were available to men. and if they ever had to resort to sex work, they would have to do it as women -- most johns are straight men, after all.
thus, and i'm sure you've heard this before, "transandrophobia" as a term modeled after transmisogyny doesn't make much sense because it would imply "androphobia that is specific to trans men." now, maybe you want to say, "well, i'm using the term not to talk about the intersection of 'androphobia' and transness, but rather transphobia that is unique to trans men OR the intersection of misogyny and trans masculinity." and that's all fine and good, but we've run into two very large rhetorical problems since this discussion started.
many examples of experiences unique to trans men are not really unique to trans men and there aren't very good arguments explaining why they should be viewed as uniquely anti-transmasc
many arguments i've seen at least rely heavily on a very gender essentialist outlook. i believe there are a lot of well-intentioned people who just don't have the greatest grasp on the mechanisms of patriarchy yet, but unfortunately this tendency has resulted in a not insignificant amount of arguing about trans women being male and therefore incapable of understanding misogyny and ironically misgenders trans men and denies many of our realities
i do believe it's worth talking about the experiences of trans mascs specifically because it helps us develop a better understanding of how we fit into the broader scheme of things and develop ways to fight for a better future. unfortunately, though, a lot of discussion about feminism & misogyny in general (not just w/ this conversation, i mean as a whole) doesn't really have a solid, materialist understanding of patriarchy and leads to questionable conclusions. in the case of transandrophobia, i'm concerned that the culture that has developed has only reified ppl's distrust of trans women (not instilled it, mind you -- once again, we have to return to transmisogyny here as a structural reality) and therefore severely stunted our ability as trans men/mascs to talk about ourselves in a meaningful way.
If transmisogyny is actually the intersection of transphobia and misogyny, that would be something all trans people experience, not just transfemme individuals.
If it's just a word for transphobia faced by transfemmes, then it makes sense for transmascs to have an equivalent word.
If you say transmascs can't use the word transmisogyny to describe their experiences, and essentially just use it to mean transphobia against transfemmes, then it doesn't make any sense to get upset about the word transandrophobia

Just an observation.
Jungkook never really congratulates Jimin in public for his anything Jimin achieves. BBno1 and now Daesang. I know I know people going to say he doesn't have to do it in public cause he does it in private for sure. All that's fine. But ever wondered maybe that's why people question Jungkook's affection towards Jimin? His solos, tkkrs and even many army too?
Quick question anon,
Who does Jungkook ever congratulate publicly? As far as I know Jimin is actually the highest person Jungkook has congratulated publicly or publicly hyped. Did you forget about the solo era? Did you forget about Jungkook publicly congratulating Jimin for his win at Music bank? Who else do you see him congratulating for stuff like that? Jimin is literally the highest member Jungkook hypes PUBLICLY so wdym? I would have understood if he frequently congratulated others but didn’t for Jimin but he literally doesn’t do it for anyone much.
It’s funny you are talking about Daesang when Jungkook was literally on Jimin’s post not even up to a minute after he posted and the funniest thing is, I am sure if Jungkook usually congratulated him publicly, some people like you would have come into my inbox with questions like “why does Jungkook only congratulate Jimin in public? That means they don’t see each other in real life because if they did he would have congratulated him in person not on Weverse” true or false?
Jikook are literally together, they wake up everyday and see each other and actually talk to each other yet you want Jungkook to come online posting congratulations again why? When he probably already congratulated Jimin immediately they heard the news.
Jimin also didn’t congratulate him on his win publicly and also didn’t congratulate Jk on other things publicly yet I didn’t see you ask this question about him. Why anon?
Edit to add:
Jungkook didn’t say anything about Jin’s album publicly but I don’t see anyone questioning his love for Jin. He literally didn’t say a word about Tae’s album last year either but I don’t see anyone questioning his love for him yet people want to question the one he spent the entire solo era hyping, literally keeping up with all his songs and purposely going live to watch him? Yea right!

I will now run with them and write an essay because I am always insane about Novandy ;-)
Specifically I want to talk about the "yes i've beaten you on every surface" part. Because I've had a few messages and seen a few comments to the effect of "Wait, they are starting a partnership at the Australian Open of all places?! How many times did Novak beat Andy there?" To which the answer is: Andy lost four of his five Australian Open finals to Novak, three of them rather badly (two in straight sets, one with a fourth set bagel) and he also very narrowly lost probably the most epic match they ever played - according to both of them - which was the Australian Open semifinal in 2012.
While this would be devastating and a cause for animosity for many tennis players I need you to understand that THEY ARE NOT LIKE THAT. At their first meeting at an under-14 tournament, Les Petits As in France in 2001, which concidentally was Novak's first international tournament ever, Andy destroyed him 6-0, 6-1 (Novak: "You gave me one game!") and they still laugh about it to this day. If and when they do press for this new coaching partnership, expect this to come up a few times.
It has always felt to me like their modus operandi was: us against the world (Novak: “Sometimes we catch up for dinner. It’s good to see somebody you grew up with doing so well in professional tennis and it’s great to show to people that top-five players, who are big rivals on the court, can be really good friends as well.”) And it never really changed, even when Novak took a commanding 24-11 lead in the H2H over the years (I am only counting matches played and leaving out the fucking tragic walkover from Andy that prevented their last meeting from happening), after it briefly almost evened out in 2012/2013.
This attitude, of course, is rather impressive from Andy, who could very well be bitter about how differently their careers have gone, considering that they are such similar players who were born only one week apart and that there was definitely much more hype around Andy at the start of their careers (Novak said when they were both 18 and played doubles at, you've guessed it, the Australian Open, that he would and wouldn't like to be like Andy because on the one hand Andy had much more support than him at the time, on the other hand he had the crushing weight of expectations to contend with).
But instead of being bitter, for the last few years of his career you could hear Mr. Murray say things like: “It would be amazing to see him do it [win the 23d Grand Slam] on Sunday. I will be supporting him. And I hope he can do it. Because it is incredible what he has done.” or plainly "I'm happy for him, he deserves it." Or even: "After Wimbledon [2023], everyone was saying it was a changing of the guard, but it wasn't for me." Oh it wasn't for you? You are defensive over the man who has beaten you more than any other in your career being written off too early?
Even during that crazy year of 2016, when they were the two frontrunners in the rankings by miles and Andy was chasing the number one spot, what did he say after losing the only French Open final he ever played? Well, he started it off with "This is his day today. What he’s achieved the last 12 months is phenomenal." and not only told the audience they had been extremely lucky to see Novak make history once again, but also ended with: "I’m proud to have been a part of today."
Us. Against. The. World.
So that's Andy, but what about Novak? Well, not to be outdone he will mention Andy in almost every interview, even when he was very much not asked about him. He will remember the 2013 Wimbledon final which he lost in straight sets to Andy as "a historic, special moment that I cherish" and, on court at the ATP Finals 2016, after his own second half of the year had been rather dismal, he also explained to the crowd that they were part of history that day and that "It was an honour to be on the court and to be a part of the big occasion. Andy is definitely number one of the world. He is the best player. He deserved to win."
If asked about the best matches he has played with Andy he will readily mention the 2012 London Olympics semifinal. We all know how important the Olympics have always been to Novak (if you didn't before 2024, you certainly know now) and this was a semifinal loss at his beloved Olympics in straight sets. Let that sink in.
When Andy retired this year, Novak explained: “He will inspire many generations to come. He inspires me, and we are about the same age." He, who has just finished his career outside of the top 100 and in a doubles match because his body wouldn't even let him play singles anymore, inspires you, who has achieved more than any other in this sport? That's really lovely, Novak. Oh, and by the way, how about Andy becoming world No. 1 and ending Novak's longest stint at No. 1 in his career? Novak's post at the time: "I am really happy to be in the same era with you."
Us. Against. The. World.
So, to make a very long story short: If I was surprised about the coaching news yesterday it was because they actually went for it, not because it seemed outlandish to me in any way. As you can see, it makes perfect sense. I am really glad we are getting another chapter of this story which - according to Novak - is "A script, a long story. A romance, I’ll call it." after we previously were treated to - according to Andy - "Rivals, doubles partners, friends and lovers?" By the way, he still has that Instagram post pinned. Anyway, before I digress, let me conclude this by saying:
You thought their story was over? Think again.
#whoops i may have written a shipping manifesto#enjoy my rambling guys :)#this is what happens when my tennis idiots feed me properly after such a long time persisting on crumbs#novandy#tennis talk

The Color Red in Arcane
an arcane analysis
[This post contains spoilers for Season 2]
We've seen that nothing in Arcane is random, such as the presence of symmetry and gold in the characters from Piltover, and asymmetry and silver when depicting those from Zaun. As the episodes progress, certain details become both metaphorical and a direct signal to the viewer that something has changed within a character. One of these symbols is the presence of the color red.
In the first season of Arcane, we see Viktor and Jayce wearing neckerchiefs. At that time, Viktor is Heimerdinger’s assistant, studying at the academy with a clear purpose (which is to study a way to make Zaun more livable and improve the quality of life for its people), but in a somewhat vague manner. He knows what he wants to achieve, but he doesn’t yet know how to accomplish it. His research is still broad and general. His neckerchief is, for that reason, white.
Jayce instead has already broken rules—he’s ventured into the underground city, conducted unauthorized experiments, and spent his life, from the moment he was able, pursuing a precise dream with the ideal of progress. The way this is directly reflected in his character is through his red necktie.
From Season 1, we can already see that a character who doesn’t yet have a clear ideal—something not necessarily righteous but blinding, to which they dedicate themselves almost religiously—wears neutral colors or ones that match the rest of the palette or outfit. On the other hand, those with strong, solid beliefs, something they think is worth fighting or sacrificing for, are adorned in red.
This is seen again with Caitlyn.
Caitlyn, like Viktor, had a goal (defending Piltover), but it was vague—it didn’t involve a plan that would keep her awake at night or consume her to the core.
Before the second episode of Season 2, her choker was blue, matching her palette. But at the exact moment her mother dies and she comes into possession of the Kiramman key, gaining knowledge of the air ducts and becoming blinded by the need for revenge, we witness a sudden change in both her outfit and her demeanor, marked by the sudden appearance of the red choker.
The moment she finds (or believes she has found) a way, red appears on her.
This isn’t about understanding one’s purpose in life but about the moment when something greater enters their lives, and they become “blinded” by an ideal, whether good or bad.
And here we come to Silco, who almost undergoes the opposite process.
Silco is introduced wearing a red shirt, much like Jayce, as he already believes in something from the very start—in his case, a free and better Zaun.
Once again, this is about a higher cause. All the characters in this category are willing to sacrifice something else. Silco doesn’t care how many lives it will take to make Zaun independent, as long as no one dies in vain. He has a purpose he pursues without hesitation, which is why, from the very first episode, we see him wearing a red shirt. And in Episode 9 of the first season, he dies unwavering in his ideal.
But then, why am I talking about him?
Because he is the one we see change the most dramatically. As a young man (Episode 5, Season 2), he is already wearing a red shirt—his purpose of making Zaun better, no matter the cost, is already firmly in place. But when Felicia, Vi and Jinx's mother, dies, and Vander lures him to the bridge to try to kill him, he is wearing a white shirt. He has lost something he loved, he hesitates, the sacrifice is immense, and he is no longer sure of what to do.
Later, when he returns to Vander in the flashback, with his white, scarred eye, he is once again wearing the red shirt he will never take off again: he lost Felicia, and the next day he lost his best friend. Many people died on that bridge, and in a way, so did he. His hesitation vanished. He has nothing left to lose, so he repeats to his companion the promise of stopping at nothing to achieve his goal, “blisters and bedrocks”.
But it doesn’t end there. In Episode 7, when Ekko finds himself in the alternate reality where Zaun is better, Silco appears wearing a white shirt, because his goal has been fulfilled, and he has lost the anger and blindness that once came with it.

ahhh so. warning. will be talking about arcane s2 spoilers below the cut. i have. so! many. thoughts.
i've seen a few takes that s2 felt very rushed to some people, and like. yeah? i can get that. but also. not really.
there was A Lot of ground to cover so it moved very quickly but the pacing actually made a lot of sense to me. i think that this show has never attempted to tell each characters story in the fullest. like, to me, that's what makes the world building so good. you are only witnessing part of the story. there is only so much of each character that we, the viewers are allowed to see.
yes there was a lot introduced in the final act, yes some of it made zero sense. but, to me at least, it makes it so much more realistic and immersive.
the final act is war time. shit happens fast. decisions are made and acted upon almost immediately. there isn't time to mourn and there isn't time to grieve. if you stop, you will die so you must keep marching forward.
we don't get to see what signed is up to, we don't get to understand the complexities between mel and her mother, we don't get time to break down how the arcane is changing we just have to know that something is happening and it will affect us so we must do something to react.
moving on, i really wanna talk about jayce and viktor first because. their final discussion, had me ill. i'm honestly really glad that they are never officially established in the show, because it makes their bond that much stronger to me.
the first season, we see how their studies connected them and propelled them forward. in jayces case, it pushes him into politics. in viktors, deeper into the arcane. they had to set everything else aside *cough cough their morals and personal relationships(sky & each other)* in order to achieve what they wanted to achieve.
in the second season, we see how that was their demise. for viktor, the creators did an amazing job showing us this with the scene between him and sky.
'i'll miss our talks'
'no you won't'
like holy shit? in those two lines, we see how viktor has fundamentally changed. his goals, his objectives, they got lost somewhere. in the first season, we do see how much viktor enjoys discussing his ideals and thoughts, its what drives him to go and find jayce in the first place.
and as for jayce, he's icarus. he flew too close to the sun and he, in a lot of ways, is the beginning of the end. while ekko and heimerdinger were building their way out of the alt time line, he was witnessing the destruction his invention brought about.
and don't even get me started on them calling each other their partner during their entire last talk. like wtf im ILL.
okay! onto jinx! (and isha and vi) i have. heard a lot of complaints about how one- her death was for shock value and two- that isha's death was glossed over and i whole-heartily disagree.
i think first off, jinx isn't dead. there a lot of people out there who can put the details together more precisely than i care to tbh, but my biggest reason is the airship we see at the end. these creators LOVE their foreshadowing and i mean LOVE (think viktor showing off the invention and shooting that gun to how that gun is later used). i think it's literally the first episode that powder says she wants to ride in one and ur telling me the last episode we get a shot of one flying away? yeah no. my girl is alive and breaking the cycle.
speaking of breaking the cycle, vi would never be able to move on with her life if jinx is still around. she would never be able to grow, to be willing to work on her relationship with cait, would never be able to escape the guilt, etc etc. that's like, a big point that i think a lot of people are missing.
for vi, jinx is everything. and she should be. she is the only family she has left. and had she not walked away from her, there is NO TELLING what would've happened to the two of them.
jinx's 'death' was for the both of them. they can move on now, they are free to allow the shit show that was their childhood be in the past. like hello?????? did y'all not listen to the conversation that she had with ekko in the alt time line? you need to let go of some things to be able to move onto the next and it sucks and it hurts and its shitty but the world will keep spinning.
and the only way that jinx was able to come to this conclusion is because she lost isha. had isha still been around, she would have had to stick around zaun and piltover. but also. i need y'all to realize that jinx is used to losing people, she is used to grief, it is a close friend to her.
and i think, thematically too, vi not moving to the other ledge is SO IMPORTANT. she CAN'T let vander go. that was her father, that man raised her, she couldn't let him go. are y'all connecting the dots? like! hello! do you see?
vi has never been one to let someone she loves go lightly. the entire first season she is grappling with this idea that her sister changed, that she moved on and allowed herself to let her past (kinda) go. it doesn't make sense to her. she allows caitlyn back so easily because it terrifies her to lose someone in her life.
that is who she is in her core.
and that is why jinx makes the decision for her. it's her way of saying, 'i see you, i understand you and i will make the hard call for you because i love you'
so yeah, like i said. a lot of thoughts. im so excited to see wtf is going on in noxus in the future show and am so intrigued by whatever the fuck is going on with mel.
also. maybe it's just me. but i love an open ending. i think being able to talk about the what if's and the maybe is so much fun. not everything has to be wrapped up with a bow on top. again, we, the viewers, only get a small insight into the world the characters live in. this show could go on for ages if we followed them all the way through their lives. this was never meant to be that type of show. go watch friends or smthn if you want a formulaic story that will clean every lose end up for you.
we follow these characters through a formative moment in their life, what happens next is up to them. (and psst. that's what fan fiction is for)
#arcane s2 spoilers#if you read all of this i applaud you it was so much more than i meant it to be but i just couldn't stop writing#i have so many more lil thoughts too like the focus on jinx's hands/nails#the all pink in the alt time line had me sick to my stomach#and the way they were bloody and torn up when she was in the cell#and also her final convo with silco#silco i love you i miss you#omg i didn't even touch on the fucking sex scene#or ekko damn#or the god damn dance between ekko and jinx#maybe ill make a pt 2 to this later when i had the emotional energy to rewatch it#i need to go hydrate now tho bc i cried so fucking much#like i had to pause it multiple times because i couldn't see past the fucking tears#god i love this show#arcane act 3#arcane#jinx#vi arcane#jinx arcane#jayvik#jayce talis#viktor arcane

UM “Fairest in the Land”
Fleur’s UM is very similar to Jamil’s. When Fleur uses his UM, he can make others do his bidding. However, he can only use it on the same person 3 times, and the chances of the spell succeeding lowers with each time. Like, say he used it on Azul. After the first time, there’s only a 66% chance it’ll work again. And when it does work again, Fleur now only has a 33% chance of using it on Azul again and succeeding. And using it too much can cause Fleur to Overblot.
Fleur presents himself as delicate, gentle, and harmless, with a sugary sweet smile always on his face. This is all a facade though. In actuality, Fleur is cunning, calculating, and ruthless to those who cross him. He’s very intelligent, always two steps ahead in getting what he wants. He tends to use his seemingly innocent charm as a weapon to achieve his goals. He is very good at hiding how he truly feels.
Fleur is the son of very, VERY wealthy parents from Fairest City. His Mother is a controversial luxury fashion designer while his Father is an extremely busy lawyer. His parents went through a messy divorce, and Fleur was left in the care of his Mother. His Mother was an extremely harsh and strict helicopter parent, having high expectations on Fleur, wanted nothing but perfection, and almost always had something to nitpick. After the divorce, Fleur’s Father basically ghosted him and hasn’t bother contacting him.
Fun Facts:
+ Based on both regular Apple White and Evil Apple White (from the Spring Unsprung movie)
+ With how feminine Fleur is, he’s been mistaken for a woman several times
+ Perfectionist. Takes into account the littlest of details
+ Does not want something unless it looks cute
+ Has bumped into Vil and Neige several times at fancy social events and parties
+ Never late for things
+ Due to his very controversial Mother, he has been poisoned many times. It’s gotten to a point where he’s immune to them.
+ Likes experimenting with beauty related potions
+ Wears contacts
+ Has lots of Apple scented stuff (what can he say? He really likes Apples)
+ Has feelings for a certain RSA student (who I have not named yet)
+ Was in the Film Analysis Club before the Fashion Club was made
+ Has a poison k!nk
+ VERY good at baking pastries
+ The mean girls in Chick Flicks are usually his favorite characters
+ Has a very long morning routine. Fleur and Cleophus give each other self care and beauty tips (they’re also Gossip Buddies)
+ Has very high As. Like, none of them are below 98
+ Casually has a case with little bottles of poison in his room
+ His closet is so big, the room next to his is filled with his clothes, shoes, accessories, and purses. Not even Vil has that big of a closet (at his Dorm room). Yes, he did pay Crowley to be able to do that. And the room is locked, with Fleur being the only one who can open it.
+ Deep down, he just really likes being a pretty princess

Fanfiction is so goated actually
No monetary incentive, just writing in one's free time. Some incentive for like kudos and comments, because who doesn't want to hear that someone else enjoyed what they wrote. Just writing a story that is good and/or enjoyable, no real-life pressure to keep it going because god forbid you and other people are depending on it financially.
Writing a story because you want to write a good story, so you can write what they want the way you want, at a pace that is realistic for you, with exactly the plot pacing you want there to be.
#c*rny posts#thinking about this after the my h*ro academia leaks lmao#i have read barely a few chapters of the manga and then kept up with it through tumblr osmosis#i was interested in how its gonna end#and after reading the leaks i was like 'well its up to the fanfic writers to write a good ending now'#cause. it was kind of underwhelming. like some stuff made sense and some things were just done badly#which is realistic considering h*rikoshi is apparently burned out to hell#and i was thinking. man. if i had to write AND illustrate a story for like ten years straight. because its my bread and butter#and there are other people depending on the story doing well to make money#it would 100% get to me. i would rather end it all lmao#which is why i think fanfic is so great#just writing a story that you want. that makes sense to you. that has elements you want. that is exactly as long as you want.#and there isnt even a possibility of really monetizing it so there is no drive to make is 'succeed' or make it as long as possible#this could be applied to just writing a 'regular' story also that is not intended for publishing#also kinda makes me think about h*ikyuu#i kinda do feel the timeskip and the ending were a bit rushed#but like. if it was me. i would have rushed it too lmao#after so many years of working on one thing and one thing only i would have been so done. just so done#and h*ikyuu ending to me wasnt even bad. it was good with good resolution of everything. with characters evolving and achieving their dreams#not necessarily volleyball related (like tenma)#the progress made realistic sense#but it did feel a bit rushed#anyway#fanfic and writing for yourself is great#and manga authors face way too much pressure from people dependent on them. from fans. even from society in general

Musical Touken Ranbu: Michinooku ~ Hitotsu Hachisu (Michinooku ~ A Single Lotus)
Here we go! Only a few days after the archive release and toumyu's ninth anniversary (congratulations!)
Michioku, or Michihasu, is a myu I have many conflicting feelings about, both positive and negative. However, I do believe that with the right amount of care in the next Mika-related story myu, the negative can still be cleared. Plus, I'm glad about a lot of things being re-established. The writer does need to step up her game a little on the plot-writing side of things, as well as the understanding-and-respecting-past-myu side of things, but as long as she does, this can still be given a proper place within what was already established.
Keep in mind that these are only the subtitle files, timed and tled to the DMM senshuuraku and the bluray respectively. The archive version will have a talk at the start, so the starting times of the subs will have to be delayed accordingly.
You can find the subtitles and my TL notes document here!
#touken ranbu#toumyu#water's translations#michioku#michihasu#how do I put this#seeing as myu's director Kayano has said in an interview right before Michioku that Kogi and Mika have a special bond#different from other swords-- and then they try to speedrun *Tsuru* and Mika having a what feels like it was intended to be#even greater relationship using a song called Kage Futatsu where KOGI'S signature song from Utaawase was Futatsu no Kage???#I SINCERELY want to believe it's incompetence rather than the writer deliberately pulling the rug from under Kogi's feet#bc the alternative is just cruel#I don't particularly mind the relationship Mika and Tsuru have in this play but I feel that not for a moment Kogi and kara respectively#were considered in the writing#anyway my final verdict is that this myu is what too many people think tsuwa is: the divorce myu (between Mika and Tsuru this time)#in all cases I hope myu can bring Shirakawa Yuki in again like with Datemyu just to offload myu's already deathly busy writer (she's done#5 myus in a month before which is just insane) because I feel this just isn't sustainable with the amount of carefulness a long-running#franchise like myu demands and the *writing* quality (not the production quality AT ALL Michioku's is great) is suffering for it.#like sure Michioku is loaded with references but they're references that either don't serve *Michioku's own* plot or their treatment shows#a lack of understanding of the work it's referencing-- for example Kashuu calling upon atsu's “This is how the shinsengumi fights!” actuall#goes completely contrary to the lesson he's supposed to have learned from atsuibun: that swords aren't disposable and that he has duties as#both soldier (captain in atsu) and as COMRADE and he makes the (already highlighted in Michioku!) dumb decision of butting in without#thinking-- and with that framed against manba's breaking trauma as well! He's supposed to have learned to stay rational and consider both#duties yet here he is ---BECAUSE of the reference--- completely leaning on the pre-atsu-development side of the scale#as if Ishi's words went one ear in one ear out. And yes the scene by itself could've worked as a subversion to show Kashuu makes the#'irrational' decision against what Ishi taught him to consider precisely because he cares for the people he's protecting but there is NO#groundwork laid at all for that in the rest of Michioku! This is what I mean with the carelessness of the references and the lack of#consideration for what prior myus were trying to SAY and ACHIEVE which is insane because she was the lyricist for those#it's more a collage of feelings provided through a set of characters calling back to the scripts of prior myu rather than#a story that evokes feelings bc the humans in it walk forward and act upon-- interact with-- the scenery on the road as left by prior human

I'm sorry but if I see one (1) more take that says "vbs is the only group divided into pairs" you will see me on the news.
#jay rambles.txt#/j but Oh My God.#no they are not. they are not two units operating as one unit for no other reason than to achieve their goal#and if you really think that I'm assuming that you either 1) did not read anything past vbs main story 2) did not read anything#vbs have so many events about being a team and learning to rely on each other IN A ROW#singing in sync. stray bad dogs. awakening beat. power of unity. kiuan.#HOW are we still on this level of understanding. oh my GOD.#do they still action as sub-units? yeah but basically not since like second rotation has either performed solo.#do akitoya and anhane have different relationships with each other than either of teammates? also yes. partner culture is important#but they're still a team. above everything they're still a team. they do everything together As A Team. they support each other as Teammates#the correct answer to the discourse isn't 'actually it only applies to vbs' it's 'actually it doesn't apply to anyone'#(head in hands) so much of Akito's story Specifically is him learning to rely on other people. So much of An's story is FINDING those people#that Includes the entire team. do not do this to them.#jay pjsk critical.txt

In both the books and the show, the Targaryens are explicitly referred to as conquerors, never as "colonizers." Like there are far more reasons to label houses like the Starks, the Baratheons or the Arryns as colonizers than the Targaryens.
The First Men were colonizers who waged outright war with the CotF for thousands of years and desecrated their sacred places. Yes, eventually they made the Pact, but that only resulted in the CotF being slowly pushed out of Westeros completely and they were eventually fully walled out of their ancestral land. They're literally dying out now, as Leaf explains to Bran in ADWD.
Leaf reiterates the same in the show. In fact, that's why the CotF created the Night King—because the First Men colonized their land and slaughtered them. Imagine the level of desperation required to create something so powerful and dangerous that it could annihilate all living beings. Yet, since the First Men are the Starks' ancestors, I suppose it’s not seen as that bad.
Or why is it that the same people who call the Targaryens "colonizers" don’t also call the Baratheons "usurpers" or even "colonizers"? This applies not only to Robert but to the entire House Baratheon. What ties did Orys Baratheon, the founder of House Baratheon, have to the Stormlands before Aegon’s Conquest? None. What claims or rights did Orys Baratheon have to the Stormlands before the conquest? None. It’s an open secret that Orys was Aegon’s half-brother, a dragonseed, and Aerion’s bastard son. Orys slew the last Storm King, Argilac the Arrogant, married his daughter Argella Durrandon (the rightful heir and ruler of the Stormlands), and ended House Durrandon—an ancient house founded during the Age of Heroes. Yet none of them has any problem with Baratheons.
So it seems that some people are mad that the Targaryens — a relatively new and young Great House—achieved more and became more powerful than their favourite houses.
And obviously Dany isn't a white savior. Essos is a very diverse continent, so is their slave system. It's class based, not race based. A large portion of the Essosi slaves looked like Dany because they were of Valyrian descent. The slaves span every ethnicity, why is that so difficult to understand? Not only do the books themselves describe the ethnicity of many of the slaves, GRRM himself came out and debunked this interpretation!
For example, one of Daenerys’ handmaids, Doreah—a former slave born in Lys—is described in the books as having fair hair and blue eyes. This is typical of people from Lys, Volantis, or other Free Cities. As for the show, the decision to cast slaves/former slaves with darker skin and hair complexions than Daenerys was entirely up to D&D and the casting team.
Daenerys’ actions have nothing to do with being a "white savior." She herself was enslaved — once in the books, twice in the show. She knows firsthand how horrible slavery is, so why wouldn’t she want to end it?
I've said it before, I'll say it again: I can't fucking stand the double standards of this fandom. Everytime I see someone bitch about how the Targaryens are "colonizers" I want to bash my brains out. And these posts always include the op talking about how great the Starks are and how they do no fucking wrong.
Like where are these people's media comprehension???? Do they know the basic definitions of things? Add to that the fact that most of these people also constantly call Dany a "white savior". Like literally read a dictionary and try actually reading the books!
I just saw a post where someone was saying that they hate the idea of Dany being the Prince that was Promised because her ancestors were colonizers and she's a white savior.
Instead, they wanted Jon Snow, who, you know, doesn't have any colonizer ancestry. Because the Starks were perfect angels, who took control of the North by asking nicely. And the First Men were gifted Westeros by the Children of the Forest when they arrived because they were all such good friends.
Literally anyone who read ASOIAF (and has the smallest bit of media comprehension) knows that that's the farthest thing from the truth.
Now, doesn't that sound familiar? To me, that sounds an awful lot like what the European colonies did to the Indigenous peoples of the Americas. Of course it's similar, GRRM is heavily inspired by history.
The Targaryens are conquerors, not colonizers. By the time of the Conquest, they have lived in Westeros for hundreds of years. The Conquerors, their parents, and grandparents were all born and raised on Dragonstone in Westeros.
The Targaryens are a Westerosi house, just like the Starks, Martells, and Hightowers. The only difference between all these houses is the timing of their arrival in Westeros. What exactly are the implications of this belief?
And obviously Dany isn't a white savior. Essos is a very diverse continent, so is their slave system. It's class based, not race based. A large portion of the Essosi slaves looked like Dany because they were of Valyrian descent. The slaves span every ethnicity, why is that so difficult to understand? Not only do the books themselves describe the ethnicity of many of the slaves, GRRM himself came out and debunked this interpretation!
I understand not being comfortable with this kind of story to an extent. The concept of liberation efforts has been tainted by the white savior trope. However, one's personal preferences don't equal the actual content of the story!
I think the thing that pisses me off the most about people who take these stances in the ASOIAF fandom is their pseudo-intellectualism.
Each person who writes these posts believes they have better media comprehension and even superior morality than everyone else. They misapply definitions of extremely damaging ideas so smugly. They believe they are correcting the views of other readers and GRRM himself, and as such, refuse to see how gravely mistaken they are. It's as concerning as it is infuriating.

How would the Scoundrel react to Miss Emilia Stone, do you think? To give you an idea of who she is, the Threadbare Outrider is one of the alternate identities of Barnabus Moss, and possibly the closest to who he actually is - he's only still an egg because he's too busy with his job to give too much of a shit about being trans right now.
She is functionally the Hyde identity; open revolutionary, Parabolan wanderer, purveyor of extreme and generally unnecessary violence. I also considered naming her the Extremely Unlicensed Silverer - she has never actually fulfilled the requirements to become a proper silverer (she thinks the sunglasses look kind of dumb) but she offers equivalent services for cut-rate prices to people who can't afford a "real professional."
In terms of her actual personality, she is... frighteningly happy. To steal a phrase, she wields her joy like a hammer; judiciously and with great violence. Moss is basically drunk on life whenever he's her, and it very much shows. She is a release valve on all of his life's worries - whenever he gets too pissed off at his life as Moss or Haversham or the spy, he can just duck into Parabola and gut a few chessmen with a meathook to unwind.
Correspondingly, he gets really irritated under the hood when she has to act consistent with the persona rather than how he actually feels - for example, Emilia is the kind of person who doesn't really dislike anyone, so when someone pisses him off she can't really show it without breaking the cheer, and it is thoroughly upsetting to him.
I think original flavour Moss would probably be fascinated by the Scoundrel, from a professional standpoint - he has a degree in the Correspondence and the whole bat thing is very interesting - whilst simultaneously being deeply, deeply exhausted by the man's life choices. Meanwhile I think Emilia would enjoy doing this to him.
Thoughts?
first of all, love the OC dissertation, chewing ur little guy like a gummy bear as we speak
second of all, the scoundrel would probably react the same as they always do- with overwhelmingly smug manners and more than a little bit of "i'm better than you and i'm being generous and indulging you by existing in your presence"... at least at first.
depending on how their interactions go from there, the scoundrel would either be delightfully open to infodumping about the bat thing to the point of tedium, or needlessly spiteful for Literally No Reason aside from a vague sense of pettiness and jealousy. how dare she get to be so damnably happy all the time, how dare she act so damnably carefree about it, etcetera etcetera. whether or not they'd like to admit it, i could see them holding a grudge against emilia purely on the principle of (supposedly) having everything they've ever wanted.
which is to say, they absolutely get scrunched like a cat, and they are biting her + biting her + biting her + biting her + biting her + biting her + biting her + biting her + biting her + biting her + biting her + biting her + biting her + biting her + biting her + b
#it's a bit like how the scoundrel responded to their TLC#all they've ever wanted was happiness and freedom from their myriad troubles. they kind of cant stand seeing people have that so easily#seeing people have it when they cant#bc why do they get to Simply Achieve It when she's (deluded herself into) giving up everything for it?#why do they get to be fulfilled and whole when her entire life has been marred by an emptiness in her soul??#it's not fair. it's Not Fair.#which of course drives them to sabotage that happiness out of spite. which usually backfires into making themself feel even worse#which drives their jealousy even more...#the scoundrel's mind is an ouroboros consuming itself in a misguided attempt and belief that All Of This will fix her#it will not fix her.#but it's really fun to see her bite her own tail and choke on it#anyway. tldr they'd probably get along with emilia at first but i feel like the irritation would build up a lot over time#and they'd also probably judge her for being bad at silvering#in their eyes at least#they take their job Very Seriously. wym you dont have a license. you are making them specifically look bad#(and everyone else they guess. but mostly them. the making them look bad part is obviously the most important part of this equation)#ask#long post#ty for the oc dissertation + hypothetical interaction it's very fun.. i love putting the scoundrel up against other people's FL guys#especially because so many would grate against him like fucked up gay cheese

when people make posts about what they want to see more of in fics, i'm kinda like 🧍♀️ ....what is the expectation, like what does that do....
other than other people agreeing and being like "YEAH i'd love to see that too!" like what else does it do......
#i make posts like this sometimes but the thing is#i'm talking to myself bc i make my own food and i don't count on anyone else to do that for me#like if i say “I WANT MORE ESTABLISHED RELATIONSHIP SHADOWPEE” then i'm talking to ME bc i'm a writer and can do that#but when ppl make these posts....who are they talking to?? their followers who happen to be fic authors??#is the hope that some writer will see the post and be like “omg I'LL DO THAT” because...i don't think many writers would do that???#couple reasons why they wouldn't. No. 1 is that you could write something for someone#with everything they want#and they could STILL dislike it#this has happened to me multiple times. and now i just write for specific people i know well enough#for their birthday or whatever but to random people on the internet?#i ain't doing that. so i'm just wondering what those posts do in the long run#well they could ALSO be talking to themselves but when it's a person I KNOW isn't a fic writer i'm just like#HUH??? what does this achieve...#maybe it could lead to friendship based on tastes#but then why wouldn't you make a post like “I LOVE THIS TROPE” and then other people would still agree with you
