I do think “teenager intentionally kicks off very volatile contingency plan which goes worse than expected due to not having all the information, gets a lot of civilians killed, then dies horribly” is a depressing, unsatisfying story arc. Like, War Games just plain sucks.
So if DC wanted to throw Gotham into yet another city-wide disaster, and wanted it to be this particular kind of disaster, how could they have done it more satisfyingly?
Well, I think... have it be kicked off by a character that’s actually been involved in the Gotham mafias / organized crime. There’s multiple options here.
1. Play up Jason & Bruce being two sides of the same coin. Bruce has been working on these plans a long time, long enough that Jason knew about it (and consulted on it!) during his Robin days. Jason works on his own version, in which Red Hood would take the place of Matches Malone, but outside interference (such as Batman jumping in at the wrong moment) makes everything go sideways and oh fuck.
2. Helena Bertinelli. She’s not kicking off some contingency plan, she just straight up is luring all the heads of the Gotham crime families to one place to kill them, but the end result is the same. I need to read more of her comics to figure out how well this actually works. Heck, you actually could still involve Steph in this one; they teamed up in the aftermath of the Quake, there’s precedent.
3. Two-Face or one of the other Rogues that’s more crime-boss than supervillain. You could even have it be inspired by Bruce; he visits Harvey regularly when he’s locked up. Get them talking about their youth, Harvey’s former passion for the justice system, grand plans for “cleaning up” Gotham that felt really good to black-and-white teenage thinking, but don’t hold up to life’s actual complexities.
Or, you know, let Bruce decide Now Is The Time, kick off his own plan, but something outside his control stops him from making it to the meeting as Matches Malone, and Batman is the one who just completely fucked over the city.
DC wouldn’t ever let Bruce both fuck up on that scale and acknowledge it as a fuck up in main continuity though, so this one would sadly be stuck as an Elseworld.
#I know Jason is also a teenager in this era but he's actually been a crime boss by now#and it fits his narrative role of forcing hard questions#I think Bruce fucking up horribly somehow is important to this#draw some parallels to his contingencies list for the JLA!#DC#fic ideas#or canon rewrite ideas I guess#Batfam#War Games arc#Bruce Wayne#Jason Todd#Helena Bertinelli#Harvey Dent#and guest appearances by Steph hi Steph#editing tags to add#I am not actually thinking of whether or not the character to kick things off dies#I'd prefer Jason and Helena to live and am ambivalent on Harvey and Bruce#but I think all four of them are less LIKELY to die than Steph was#due to both in and out universe reasons#doomed by editorial whoops

i know i’m biased but i would love to get a spoiler & robin or steph & damian comic anything… i think that their dynamic was really interesting in past comics and can be explored in so much more depth like. steph not needing approval from anyone and forging her own path is exactly the person that damian needs i think she’d be a great big sister figure
#i just need more steph comics and more damian growth#i’m so tired of all the guest appearances too and just need another batgirl or even a spoiler comic im begging#also i find myself disappointed with damian’s writing most of the time so i think this is a good avenue to explore w his character#oh god pls ignore me

Which TV shows or sitcoms do the Batfam guest star in?
(I'm a 2010s girlie if you can't tell)
Selina has a one-episode subplot as a prisoner in Orange Is The New Black where she acts like she's going to try and make a daring escape just to mess with everyone else
Luke appears in the background of a large gathering or party in Black-ish but the characters are too busy with the storyline to notice until the end when they realize it's legendary MMA fighter Luke Fox, except he's just there for the food
Bette would be one of the extras in The Good Place whose entire role is to give people the wrong frozen yogurt toppings while acting like the absolute nicest person who got into the "Good Place" for saving an endangered goat species
Alfred is a customer just doing his shopping amidst the Superstore chaos. He just occasionally appears throughout the episode and when they're like "You're still here?" he unfurls a comically long shopping list
Barbara appears in New Girl as an HR worker at Schmidt's place of work, where she slows him down with pointless bureaucratic procedures when he's trying to get something done quickly
Bruce would appear as a prospective business client in The Office and offers to buy Dunder Mifflin until he gets a tour of the place as it's literally going up in flames
Harper would be sitting in the back of the classroom in Community interjecting with her side commentary until the characters realize she doesn't even go there
Damian would be a student in Abbott Elementary who starts doing the teacher's jobs, and when the school tries to call home, he poses as his own guardian with a costume and voice training
Cass is a part-time cashier who gets hired on the spot at Kim's Convenience but quits after one day not because of the characters or storyline, but because she was just bored
Dick appears in Brooklyn Nine-Nine as a New Jersey police officer working an interstate case, and him and Jake competing for the spotlight and recognition can be summed up by "oh my God, there's two of them"
Jason also appears in the same Brooklyn Nine-Nine episode as the main suspect, and the whole joke is that he keeps insisting he and Dick know each other (being irl brothers) while Dick is like "I've never seen this man in my life"
Carrie guest stars in Parks and Rec as a very passionate (and very annoying) lone teenage activist with a picket sign who won't leave the characters alone until they hear out her (very valid) concerns
Cullen appears in Psych as another "psychic" racing against Shawn to solve a case, but really he just knows how to get the evidence he needs from social media faster than surveying the actual crime scene
Helena plays a substitute teacher in Derry Girls who keeps insisting that the characters do a dumb assignment that actually makes sense in the end
Tim briefly makes a cameo in Cobra Kai at one of the karate tournaments, where he plays a competitor from a dojo that's not part of the main cast
Kate appears in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt for a minute as the characters trying to get someplace urgently, and she has a car or something they want to borrow but she's just like "uh, no, I don't know you"
Duke plays a tutor in Modern Family where the episode centers on school, and the session consists of him just trying to do his job while everyone else keeps interrupting
Steph cameos in Scrubs as a know-it-all med student who keeps trying to point out that a character is making a (harmless) mistake, only to get shut down until it happens and she's just like "that's what I was trying to tell you"

Just a little crush II Kim Little x Beattie!Reader
masterlist I word count: 3192
a/n: sorry, It's a lengthy one, but we hope you still enjoy it. ❤️
“Lee, who’s that girl talking to Jen?”, Kim Little asked Arsenal’s vice-captain while licking her lips nervously. They and some other family and friends gathered for a party to send Jen Beattie off who was going to California to join Bay FC.
There was something about that young woman standing next to her friend which was making her feel and think things the midfielder never did before, but she didn’t want to dwell on them any further as it would lead to much more questions and less clear answers.
Amused Leah Williamson raised her eyebrows:” Oh Kimmy, you don’t recognize her? It’s Jennis baby sister, she’s fresh out of Edinburgh University!”
“That’s not Jen’s sister! She looked so much younger last time.”, the Scottish woman shook her head in disbelief.
Still smiling the England captain replied: “Yes, it’s, she’s 25 now.”
“Oh wow.”, Kim muttered.
Noisily Beth Mead took part in their conversation:” Who are you two gossiping about? I want to know.”
“Jens little sis.”, Leah answered with a smug smile on her face.
“She turned into a real beauty, right?”, the blonde forward winked watching Kim turning red.
Much to her dismay the defender noticed it:” think our captain would agree with you.”
“Stop it.. I’m not.”, Kim explained slightly embarrassed.
“Having a little crush?”, Beth teased her teammate grinning.
Tuning in Steph Catley chirmed:” Oh Kim, that’s so cute.”
“I don’t have a crush.”, their captain disagreed. She felt relived when Jen came along distracting from the gossiping football players.
“Hi guys, remember my little sister?”, the tall Scottish defender asked.
Cheerful you greeted them:” Hi, everyone.”
“Hello great to see you again. Even though the reason is kind of sad.”, Beth responded with a sad smile.
Empathetically you nodded:” No, I agree but shamefully can’t wait to visit her soon in Cali.”
“You all act like I’m disappearing forever.”, your big sister laughed. Even though you knew the farewell felt equally as bittersweet to her.
Quickly Lia Wälti hugged her: “We can’t help how we’re feeling, Jen. It’s a big loss for us and a big win for Bay FC.”
“You girls are the sweetest.”, Jen whispered, she was so grateful for the friendships she made during her time at Arsenal.
Big eyed Steph Catley responded:” I’ll miss my favourite neighbour.”
“I’ll miss living next to you too, Steph.”, the defender answered truthfully.
This was the moment you found the time to talk to Kim directly to express your gratitude towards her:” Thanks for letting me stay at your place for a few weeks, Kim.”
“You’re welcome. Now that your sister can’t let you stay anymore.”, the older woman waved it off.
“I really appreciate it.”
With a small smile the midfielder told you in a reassuring tone:” You can stay as long as you want. Don’t worry about it.”
“I’m sure you’ll have a great time together.”, Jen intervened confidently.
You gave your sister a nod: “I’m sure we’ll.“
As the evening progressed, the atmosphere became more and more relaxed. You felt right at home with your sisters teammates who happily shared stories about Jen with and made sure your glass was never empty.
It was only after midnight that Kim appeared right in front of you, reaching out a hand towards you: “Come, I’ll get you home.“
“Now?, you asked, surprised by how drunk you sounded already.
Kim just raised an eyebrow but did not comment on it: “Yes, it’s late.“
“Bye, Jen!“, you shouted across the room to your sister while Kim helped you into your coat.
With one swift motion, Jen came over and pulled you into a tight hug: “Bye, you two.“
Luckily, the way home in Kims car was short. You were by sleep and found it difficult to keep your eyes open. Once Kim led you into the guest room of her apartment, you let yourself fall onto the bed with a relieved sigh. Kims dog curled into a ball at your feet.
“This is really cozy.“, you mumbled, burying your face into the soft pillows.
Kim watched you from the doorway: “Glad you feel at home here.“
“Good night, Kim.“
The corners of her mouth quirked up as she closed the door behind her and you fell into a dreamless sleep.
You woke up early the next morning and decided to make coffee for yourself and Kim. The coffee was just done brewing as Kim came back from walking her dog. Beaming, you handed her a mug: “Morning, this one is for you.“
She gave you a surprised look first but then took the coffee from you: “Oh. Thank you.“
“You’re welcome. Also I hope I didn’t say anything weird when we went home last night.“, you said as you sat down at the kitchen table together. You took a sip of coffee to hide your reddening cheeks behind the cup.
“No. Like what?“, Kim asked inquiringly.
You decidedly ignored her question and only reacted to the first part: “Oh good.“
“You almost immediately fell asleep.“, she explained plainly.
Changing the topic, you suggested: “Do you like Pizza? When I’m done with my interview, I could get some on the way back.“
Finally, a small smile appeared on the football players face: “Sure, why not?“
“Okay, great.“
With a glance toward the kitchen clock, Kim announced: “I have to leave for training now. So, see you later?“
“Yes, see you.“, you smiled at her.
Just before Kim walked out, she paused for a moment: “Oh, wait.“
“Uhm, yes?“, you patiently looked at her as she walked back into the kitchen.
“I forgot to give you the keys.“, she said, carefully tossing them in you direction.
You caught them with a grin: “Right. Thank you, Kim.“
“See you later. Good luck with your interview.”, Kim replied.
You were almost at the door when you turned around to face her beaming with hopefulness: “Thanks. Have fun in training!”
During training Kim warmed up with Cloé Lacasse. The Canadian striker asked her curiously:” So you got yourself a roommate, Kim?”
“I was more or less assigned a roommate, Cloé. She was supposed to stay with Jen, but she decided to leave us.”, the Arsenal captain explained with a deep sigh.
With a mischievous smile on her lips Leah came to a stop right next to the older women: “The most important part is though that Kim has a Girl crush on said roommate.”
Annoyed by her comment Kim rolled her eyes at the defender:” I don’t have a girl crush, Leah.”
“Kim is straight too.”, the Canadian forward added.
“Right.”, the Scottish midfielder nodded. Although deep inside of her something didn’t sit right with it although it has been true for so many years at this point. Why did your presence make her question things she thought she knew about herself.
This didn’t impress Leah in the least: “You should have been there Cloé when they met at Jens Farewell Party.”
“Well, I can’t wait to hopefully meet her soon.”, Cloé answered politely.
Frustrated Kim intervened:” You guys are making a way too big deal out of it.”
“If you need to chat though we’re here for you, Kim.”, Beth offered warmly.
Stubbornly the Scottish woman shook her head: “I don’t need to chat. She’s just staring at my place.”
“Alright, just saying.”, the England forward mumbled.
“It’s not a big deal.”, her captain repeated in a serious tone which made obvious that she was done with talking for now.
Reading the signs Leah decided:” Let’s get back to training.”
Finally, Kim thought relieved as they started to move again, distracting from the whirlwind, which was currently inside of her, giving her a peace of mind for the moment.
In the early evening you returned to Kim’s place announcing cheerfully:” Hi, I got the pizza.”
“Thanks. How did your interview go?”, she wanted to know from you.
As you were setting up the table for dinner, you told her about it:” Not too bad, actually. They said my writing is promising but they asked me if I really want to stay focused on women’s football.”
Interested the Scottish woman looked up to you:” What did you say to them?”
“That I don’t want to change my focus, I love writing about women’s football and the culture surrounding it.”, you responded.
Proudly Kim remarked:” Your sister would have done the same in your position.”
“She would’ve, right?”, you asked her cautiously.
Kim nodded once with conviction: “Absolutely.“
“There’s still such a long way to go… although the recent success helped a bit.“, you thought out loud, a sad smile tugging on your lips.
“You don’t have to tell me.“, Kim replied with her gaze trained on the kitchen table.
You could sense that the football player felt a similar way about the topic. Your curiosity was piqued so you continued: “For you and Jen it must have been an amazing progress to live through.“
“Yes. We’re lucky to be part of this generation. Selling out stadiums is something that a few years ago we thought was impossible.“, she explained calmly.
You were reminded of your sisters first football games. She was not getting paid to play yet and the number of fans was ridiculously low compared to this season. You bit your lip: “Yes, I remember that too.“
“I appreciate that you want to keep focusing on womens football.“
Hearing her say that made your heart flutter for a brief moment. But you were also reminded how quickly the atmosphere had changed. You sighed and with all the enthusiasm you could muster, said: “We should eat the pizzas now before they get too cold.“
“You’re right.“
As you both sat down, taking the first slices of the pizza, you admitted: “But I do love talking about football with you.“
“We can continue at another time if you want.“, Kim suggested a little more relaxed.
“Yes, I’d like that very much.“
“Me too.“
“Great.“
Kim put her slice of pizza down and looked at you thoughtfully: “We’re playing at home on the weekend. You should come watch.“
“Yes, I’ll be there.“, you politely smiled back at her.
Kims focus had already shifted back to her pizza: “Great.“
The stadium was starting to fill on the following Sunday while players walked out to warm up. You were engrossed in a conversation with your friend Emily who after a long time of convincing had finally agreed to come to the game with you. You completely missed that Cloe Lacasse walked out on the pitch with Kim and curiously nodded in your direction: “So that’s her?“
“Yes, that’s her.“, Kim replied, a frown on her face as she spotted you close to the field.
“Is that her girlfriend? The one who’s standing next to her?“, the Canadian wanted to know.
Kim shrugged and shook her head: “She didn’t say anything about a girlfriend.“
Still, her gaze lingered on the two of you for a little longer.
The game ended with an easy win for Arsenal. Apart from the goals of Cloe and Alessia Russo, Kim also converted a penalty. The atmosphere in the stadium after the game was great and you immediately felt at home. However, the mood between the players on the pitch was less elated.
Leah Williamson bumped her captain with her shoulder: “Kim? You’re even quieter than usual.“
“What? I’m just focused.“, the midfielder replied, pulling away from her teammate.
The younger player couldn’t ask any further as you hugged the Scottish woman and sung:” Kim, you had a fantastic game, Kim!” Seeing the England captain you added blushing:”Hi Lee.”
Smiling Leah couldn’t help but to notice the height difference between you two, you were almost as tall as Jen while your roommate was fairly small: “Our skipper was great, right?”
“Yes, she definitely was.”, with that said you let Kim down.
Much to your surprise she didn’t look happy despite the comfortable win:”Thanks.”
The midfielder didn’t say anything further instead she left the room and left you clueless. Puzzled you turned around to look at her teammate: “Well, that was a bit strange do you know what’s going on, Leah?”
“I think she’s a bit jealous.”, the blonde replied seriously.
Baffled by that you let out a shaky laugh:” Jealous? Kim?”
Leah grinned: “Yeah.”
“Why?”
“Because you brought your girlfriend.”, the defender replied, crossing her arms in front of her.
“My girlfriend? Emily is just a friend!”, you corrected her, shaking your head in disbelief.
Sceptical Leah rose an eyebrow at you:” Oh, is she?”
“Yes, wait, did Kim think that Em was my girlfriend?”, you questioned her.
Thoughtfully Leah responded:” Maybe.”
“I need to talk to her.”, you decided.
With an empathetic smile on her lips the blonde held you back: “Maybe not now.”
You listened to her advice, so you went back to Emily and brought her home before making your way slowly to Kim’s home. In your mind it already was yours too.
On her car ride home Jen phone called the Arsenal captain:” Hi mate, great game!”
“Thanks, Jen. How’s California?”, Kim asked her.
“It’s been really great so far., the defender sounded happily before turning more serious, but you texted that you needed to talk?”
Earnestly Kim told her: “Yes. About your sister. Did you know that she’s dating someone?”
“What? No, she’s single.”, she mumbled convinced.
“What do you mean? She brought someone to our game today?”, the midfielder frowned.
Quickly Jen explained: “Yes Emily, she’s just a friend of her, Kimmy.”
“Are you sure? They seemed close?”, Kim almost felt something like relief by her former teammates reply. Although she didn’t dare to trust the news yet.
“Kim, I’m sure of that besides Emily has a boyfriend.”, Jen chuckled.
“If you say so.”
“But you can ask my sister again. Kim are you jealous?”, the defender wanted to know from her friend.
Offended Kim scoffed at her:” Why would I be jealous? I was just wondering why she’d stay with me when she’s got a girlfriend here.”
“Now you know. I need to go to training, hope to hear from you soon, mate?” After a few goodbyes they ended the phone call and the Arsenal captain tried to focus on the drive instead of the turmoil which was inside her.
When the door closed behind Kim, you looked up from the food you were cooking. While the Arsenal players showered and debriefed at the stadium, you had hurried to get home and surprise your housemate with a freshly cooked dinner. “Kim? Hi, I started cooking…“, you greeted her.
The football player raised her eyebrows in surprise: “You’re already here?“
You nodded: “Yes, Emily had to go back to her boyfriend who has a bit of a cold. Otherwise we might have gone to a pub. Do you want a drink to celebrate the win?“
“No, thanks. I usually don’t drink after games.“, Kim answered plainly, putting her bag down next to the kitchen table.
You grimaced: “Oh, right. Sorry. So water?“
“Sure. What are you cooking?“, Kim asked, looking over your shoulder at the food while you poured two glasses of water.
You smiled while handing her one of the glasses: “Some pasta dish. It’s one of the few things I can cook.“
The football player nodded impressed and smirked slightly: “That’s more than your sister can cook.“
“That’s true.“
You both sat down to enjoy your home-cooked meal, talking about the game again even though Kim kept her answers short. You took the empty plates and set them down at the sink: “I guess I’ll let you sleep now.“
“You don’t have to. I can’t sleep yet anyway.“, Kim replied to your surprise.
You slowly turned back to her, biting down a nervous smile: “Okay but you know you can just ask me on a date instead of running away and sulking after the match, right?“
Her eyes widened in shock: “Wait, what are you talking about?“
“Leah said you were jealous because of Emily and you really don’t need to be.“, you shrugged, trying to keep the nonchalance in your voice.
“I wasn’t jealous.“, she protested.
You looked back at the dishes in the sink, waiting: “Good.“
“That’s ridiculous.“
“Kim…“, you started but when you looked back to her, she had already bridged the gap between you two and pressed her lips to yours. You gasped into the kiss: “What?“
“That was a mistake. I’m sorry.“, she sighed, shaking her head in a mix of confusion and guilt.
She wanted to turn away from you but you grabbed her wrist: “No, please, do it again.“
There was an urgency in your voice that made Kim search for your eyes: “Are you sure?“
“Yes.“
“But… okay.“
She kissed you again, more patiently now. This time you could savour the taste of her lips on yours and only then you realized that she had to stand on her tiptoes to reach you. You were so charmed by this that you could not stop yourself from smiling.
As you both pulled away, you could see an uncertainty in Kims eyes. It was definitely not the kiss, you could feel that you both enjoyed it. Another thougth raced through your head: “Am I your first woman? Don’t worry, we have time. When is your next free day? Maybe we could go to a restaurant.“
“I have tomorrow off.”, she told you straight away.
A relieved sigh escaped your mouth:” Perfect, with a smirk you continued, also, you’re not a bad kisser, captain.”
“I never said I was.”, Kim laughed, you could tell some weight fell off her shoulders.
“No just saying.”, you shrugged.
The midfielder put a loose string of hair behind her ear:” Thanks.”
A month later Kim and you had a video call with your sister. The first thing you told her was that you two became a couple. “You two are dating?! You better take good care of her little sis!”, Jen warned you in a jokingly tone.
“What?! Me?!”, you huffed.
Grinning the defender nodded: “Yes, you heard me.”
“Wow.”, you ran a free hand through your hair.
Meanwhile your girlfriend seemed to have ignored that part of the conversation as she reassured Jen:” Don’t worry, I’m taking good care of your sister.”
“I can already see that.”, your big sister observed amused.
“Jen, you’re a terrible big sister.”, you teased her.
“I’m the best big sister.”, she countered quickly.
“Sure.”, you rolled your eyes at her.
“Stop it you two.”, Kim demanded in her captain voice.
Smiling Jen answered:” No, get used to it, Kimmy. You’re part of the Beattie family now.”
“Oh yes.”, you added, while giving the midfielder a kiss on her blushing cheek.
Coming to London to move in with one of your sister’s oldest friends was one of the best things that could had happen to you.
As for Kim she never knew she could fall for a woman until you came into her life, but the midfielder was very happy to have let her change her mind about that. Turned out you were more than just a little crush.

BRUCE WAYNE | BATMAN (generalized fanon | wfa)
—
Bruce Wayne w/ a Rastafarian S/O (Bruce Wayne x Batmom!Reader)
Headcanons
SFW, slice of life, BATMOM, batfamily appearances, fluff, established relationship(s) - caribbean!reader
Pic source — Batman: Wayne Family Adventures webtoon
Bruce initially being the only person allowed to see your locs.
Each kid takes it as a rite of passage when they’re allowed to see your hair as well. You do your best to stress to them not to make it seem like an obligation or some huge sign of your love or anything, but they tend to give it more weight than you want them to regardless.
It’s just that when you’re in your home, and around your people, you can trust your locs to be free.
The first time when the house was quiet (no risk of guests) Bruce suddenly found one night that he was allowed to see your locs after you finally convinced him to get out of the Batsuit and come sleep upstairs in a bed instead of on a cot in the cave.
You don’t make a big deal of it, and he doesn’t comment right then, but he is very pleased.
You and Damian bond over ‘vegan’ dishes and desserts.
There’s plenty of times when you’re making a Caribbean dish ‘vegan’ (ie: compatible with your Ital diet to a natural medicinal-esq degree) that he acts as your taste tester or is the accomplice to any failures you make in the kitchen.
Something about ‘Rasta Pasta’ does vex you, though. There’s just something so antithetical about something that explicitly has ‘Rasta’ in the name having meat in it most of the time that boggles your mind even though it isn’t a big deal.
You share your feelings about this with Bruce and he nods sagely while Duke busts a gut behind him with his hands slapped over his mouth. Duke does think you have a point but the way you’re talking about it and just how seriously Bruce is taking your otherwise trivial complaint is killing him.
Jason picks out pretty wraps for you to wrap your head with from wherever he’s traveled. A lot of them you sew into skirts you buy to make them longer but still give them a personal touch.
Everyone eats your food; no one misses the meat (and all the other things you don’t cook with) and Alfred supremely enjoys the day off from the kitchen because if you're asked to make dinner you’re making breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dessert too.
Dick will come all the way from Bludhaven for your fungi and (meatless) veggie stew, please do not play. You make extra just for him to take home every time.
Bruce loves at night when you’re going to bed and you drop your hair. Loves getting to see your locs knock into your back and fall over your shoulders. Your hair is your crown and Bruce treats it with every bit of reverence it deserves.
Whenever he can he likes to twine his fingers through your locs when you kiss.
On slow days when the Bat isn’t needed and Bruce Wayne doesn’t have to make an appearance you spend the day around each other. You alternate from his office to your bedroom while he works and you oil and retwist your hair on the bed or on the couch in his study.
The two of you have your dumbest conversations on days like these which is how Duke and Damian end up walking in on you both debating the logistics of whether capri pants were an acceptable fashion choice.
Both Duke and Damian sided with you saying they were not, but then Tim walked in on the conversation and - even after explaining your reasoning to him - sided with Bruce saying they were a perfect choice for when you couldn’t decide between shorts or pants.
When Steph passes by the open door she shakes her head at Tim, clicking her tongue like you usually do, and asks you if she can borrow one of your blouses even though you can see it already under her arm.
You make it mandatory that you all go out as a family to connect with nature, not just be around it, and to get some actual sun.
Hikes are absolutely your jam, and it’s not like Bruce likes anything better than to show off for you. Rock climbing in nature, taking trips to swim in the Caribbean, cave explorations, plant scavenger hunts, star gazing, and more are all on the table too when free time comes into play.
You and Bruce also go on regularly scheduled walks (that is when he’s not too torn up to walk) where you take the time to catch up and re-familiarize and ground yourselves through growing your connection even more.
You also have the room — and Bruce is more than happy to give you it — to have a giant garden where you grow a lot of your own food, and you maintain it as a family.
You wake up to pray every morning like clockwork, and Bruce doesn’t join in but he does wake up for a short stint of time to watch you before passing back out.
If there was one thing your husband wasn’t, it was a morning person (within reason, most of the time).
If he is up and moving (and home) when you’re going out he likes to wrap your locs up for you. The first time he offered you raised a brow at him, but he eased the fabric from your hands and turned you around to show you what he meant anyway. When he wraps the fabric around your bundled locs exactly like how you do without any instruction you’re shocked, but the smile you give him afterwards is dazzled enough that Bruce winks at you.
When he’s really calm, usually before he’s about to slip into sleep after a long time running around and plotting as Batman, he’ll go soft and as floaty as he ever does. While one of his hands will be wrapped around you, the other often gravitates towards the wooden ankh you wear (if you still have it on). He winds it between his fingers, playing with the beads that adorn the necklace like he’s in a trance as he presses sleepy kisses to your brown skin.
You pray for him most often when he’s like this, your touch on him soft and your hand a gentle balm in his hair in turn; his life was always on the line after all, and so were your children’s. It couldn’t hurt, that was for sure.
You make the Manor a little louder relatively often; keeping the energy in your adopted home alive (when you don’t have a full house, especially) with the music you play. It’s healing. Makes everyone in the house get a little more energy in their step at the reggae and Caribbean hymns in the background.
Plus, watching Dami’s head bounce to the music when he’s not paying attention is too cute.
Whenever you’re blessed enough to hear (what’s typically) Jason, Steph, or Duke singing familiar lyrics under their breaths or humming well worn and loved tunes, too, you can’t help how your heart swells.
Dick will full on just sing along with you if he’s around, in all his off key glory, and you love that just the same.
You’re in your garden a lot and out of all your kids Cassandra enjoys being out there with you the most. You two often gather from and maintain the garden together in silence. You suspect she likes how visibly non-demanding it is; it gives her brain a break.
Alfred has his roses and you have your produce/aromatics and you share irrigation tips.
You share your beliefs with your crew whenever they ask but are perfectly content to let them choose their own paths in life.
Cass listens to your prayers the most, you don’t think she believes in the Most High (or any ‘higher power’ that people praise for that matter) but you love that she appreciates the messages regardless.
The elites and the press act absolutely ridiculous about you and your natural appearance, but you just don’t pay them no mind and go about your business unbothered. That hatred was their prerogative, not yours; you would not bow to their system, to the machinations of Babylon.
You’re single-handedly making Bruce Wayne (Gotham’s ‘Crown Prince’) smell inarguably like incense; just from him being so obsessed with you and always wanting to be around you as much as possible he’ll smell like any variety of sages to cedars (& etc.).
If there’s anyone that’s going to hasten Wayne Enterprises shifting to more eco friendly practices and renewable energy it’s going to be you. It’s not like you had to do much though, Bruce is pretty advancement friendly on his own.
You start a good amount of community gardens throughout Gotham through W.E. — villians mostly leave them alone outside of Ivy occasionally making the plants mutated enough to ‘come to life’.
NOTES: Hope you enjoyed!!!
I’d like to make it known that most of the information I put here was gained through observation (& some lived experience), but also that while the person I garnered this information from is a Rasta, that they aren’t a particularly ‘traditional’ one, so take that as you will. Also, not every Rasta practices the same way so don’t hold me as a source or anything either.
I’m also a non-Jamaican Caribbean, just fyi.
btw: if you’d like to leave a comment I’d very much appreciate it!

☕💖 Can I Get Your Number? ☕💖 Ch 13
Jason Todd x (f)Chubby!Reader
written with a female reader in mind, first person pov, no use of Y/N, will probably get NSFW later, let me know if there's anything else I should tag this with!
warnings/labels: it's a pretty fluffy chapter today, but let me know if I missed anything!
wc: 1.9k
Chapter Selection
Stella did my hair and makeup, and lent me a little black clutch. She instructed that I wait until I had my dress on to put the earrings and hair pins in, but made sure I knew exactly where to put the pins, before letting Jason whisk me away to the manor. My dress and shoes were already there waiting for me with the other girls, and when we arrived I was quickly pulled into a large closet away from Jay. Stephanie grinned, sticking her tongue out at him as she declared; “no boys allowed!”
It struck me how Babs and Steph effortlessly brought me into the group; everything felt so natural, like we'd gotten ready for dozens of these events together.
“What is this one for again?” Stephanie frowned, picking between two pairs of earrings.
“It’s the JTCF fundraiser. Hence why Jason couldn't bow out this time.” Barbara chuckled.
“JTCF?” I tilted my head.
They looked a bit startled; “... The … Jason Todd Children's Foundation? … The charity Bruce started after Jay …”
“Died.” I finished the sentence for them, nodding. “Gotcha, … what does it do?”
“Mostly it funds after school activities and tutoring programs in Crime Alley.”
“That's nice. … How does the gala help?”
“It’s basically a thank you gala for the foundation’s biggest donors, but there's also a silent auction, and a limited number of tickets available to buy, if you have way too much money and didn't think to give enough through the year to warrant an invitation.” Stephanie rolled her eyes.
“Jason tries to get out of going every year, but it always somehow works out to be his turn.” Babs chuckled.
“Of course, he has to make an appearance at the party for the foundation that carries his name. Who else is going to be there?”
“From the family? Just us, Bruce, and Tim. And I think Tim’s bringing his boyfriend.”
“No Cass tonight?” I looked in the mirror, shaking my head a bit to make sure the garnet pins were secure.
Steph chuckled, putting the finishing touches on her makeup. “Nah, Cass doesn't do too many of these events; they drain her social battery. There has to be at least two Wayne's at every event, so they take turns, and the rest of us get roped in on a rotational basis to keep them sane through the night.”
“They dislike the galas that much?”
Babs shrugged. “It's just … a lot. People have very specific expectations, and it gets exhausting. Plus, there's always a better than average chance that some Gotham villain will get it in their head to harass the guests.” She adjusted her navy blue skirt over her legs, making sure it wouldn't get caught in her wheels.
“Yeah, is there a plan for that?” I frowned a bit.
“Follow Jason, he'll keep you safe. But if you get separated, if you're near the ballroom entrance follow the crowd. Security will funnel the guests to the panic room. If you're closer to the bar, get behind it. There's a button under the counter next to the sink, a panel in the floor will open and you can hide in the cellar.” Babs nodded, smiling a bit.
“... Well what about you? What if you're near the bar? Will you be able to get down there?”
“No, but being the commissioner's daughter I tend to be one of their ‘high profile targets’ anyway. I make an excellent distraction to buy other guests time to get to safety, and a Bat or two will show up before anything serious happens.”
I frowned deeply. “... The plan if someone attacks is for you to give yourself up and hope Batman shows up in time?”
“If I have to…. It's only happened a few times, hun, and they were specifically looking for me. Waiting it out is often the most practical option, and results in the fewest casualties.”
“I hate that.”
“Don’t worry, I can take care of myself. They always underestimate the girl in the wheelchair.” She smiled brightly, punching her hand for dramatic effect.
“... I guess.” I frowned more. Babs seemed perfectly ok with it, but the idea that she wasn't offered the same protections as the rest of us pissed me off.
Steph smiled softly and gently squeezed my shoulder. “Hey, don't worry about it, ok? Two-Face held up the last one, so we're due for a villain-free gala!”
I chuckled, nodding, and finished placing the last pin. “What do you think?”
“Stunning! Ready to show Jay?” I nodded, and the girls led me out to the main foyer. Tim was hugging a blond man who just arrived, and Jason was fiddling with his tie.
Stephanie cleared her throat; “Jaybird, I hope you're ready for this!”
He looked up at us, freezing when our eyes met. I giggled softly at the look on his face, spinning once on my way over. His eyes trailed down my dress and back up to my face.
“... Dear God~” He took my hand, kissing my knuckles delicately. “How did I get so lucky, huh?”
I giggled, beaming up at him; “Trust me, I'm the lucky one.”
Tim cleared his throat; “just making sure you remember; we are right here.”
Jason grunted at him, cupping my cheek. His fingers slid back a bit to touch my ear; “... These are beautiful, where'd you get them?”
“Jewelry store at the mall.” I smiled softly.
“Hm … they're perfect. … Who got them for you?” He raised an eyebrow.
I blinked a bit, slightly taken aback by his tone; “... Jay, are you jealous?”
He blushed a bit, frowning; “no! …”
“Then why does it matter?” I smiled gently.
He frowned, whining a bit. “... I guess it doesn't?”
I chuckled gently, pulling him into a chaste kiss. “Good. Cause there's no one else I want to be here with.”
He smiled shyly, kissing back; “… You're still missing one thing though.” I tilted my head, curious, and he slid his hand down my cheek to the side of my neck.
“... Jay?”
He chuckled softly, offering me a long velvet box. “Don't worry, I didn't spend any money.”
I slowly took the box. “... Did you break any laws?”
He laughed softly, kissing my forehead; “not this time~ open it already~”
I slowly slid the box open, revealing a gold necklace with teardrop shaped garnets adorning it like leaves. “Oh… Jay, it's beautiful~ … where did you get it?”
He chuckled, taking it out of the box, and slid it around my neck, carefully clasping it in place. “It was Grandma Wayne's.”
I blinked repeatedly, looking up at him and hissing softly; “Gr- … J- Jace, is this Martha Wayne's necklace???”
He chuckled and nodded. “Before you panic, Bruce gave his permission.”
My fingers came up to caress the cool metal on my collarbones. This one necklace was probably worth more than my entire life, and Bruce was ok with me wearing it??? Jason chuckled softly at the look on my face, wrapping his arms around my waist. “Princess?”
“I just … I'm in shock.” I leaned against him. “... Bruce really said it was ok?”
“Swear to god; he handed it to me himself.” Jay nodded, smiling softly.
“... Ok.”
“... Tim?” I frowned, looking out across the dance floor.
He looked over at me, clearly a bit annoyed that I was interrupting his whispered conversation with his boyfriend; “hm?”
“... Am I being a weird, possessive girlfriend, or does Jason look really uncomfortable?” I nodded toward him on the other side of the room. A woman had trapped him in conversation for the past several minutes on his way back from the bar. His face seemed tight, like he was forcing his polite smile to stay exactly where it was.
Tim inhaled in a hiss. “Oof, he's gonna snap…”
“That would be bad.”
Bernard nodded, frowning. “What's the play?”
I smiled a little; Tim had only introduced me to his boyfriend briefly, but I already liked him. “Hmm … can't pull him into a dance, he's carrying our drinks … The presumed heir to the company would probably be a more valuable social opportunity for her though….”
“... No.” Tim frowned.
“... You sure? … I wonder what Jay will say if I tell him you bought me jewelry…”
Tim made a face at me; “Wha- … that is so rude! ... Fuck… fine. But Bernard, you have to save me in five minutes.”
Bernard laughed softly and nodded. “Got it.”
Tim shook his head poutily, heading into the fray. Bernard turned to me, whispering; “you weren't actually going to tell Jason, were you?”
“I mean, I'm not gonna lie to him, but I also wasn't planning on making a big thing about it.”
Bernard laughed and after a moment I followed Tim around the dance floor. As I approached, I heard the woman tittering at something Tim said. I slid in next to Jay, resting my hand on his shoulder blade. He stiffened slightly under my touch before realizing it was me and relaxed. He offered me my drink and I took it, gesturing for him to follow me away, leaving Tim to distract the girl.
“What did you have to promise Tim to get him to take my place?”
“Nothing I wasn't planning on giving him in the first place.” I sipped my drink, smirking a bit.
Jason chuckled, resting a hand against the small of my back. “That's my girl~”
I smiled softly, leaning into him a bit. “You doing ok so far?”
“So far …” he sighed softly, his thumb stroking my back absentmindedly. “... I'd much rather be home with you though.”
“We can go as soon as your social obligation is fulfilled.”
A look of relief passed through his eyes; “you're sure?”
“Of course, I want you to be comfortable; I know you're not comfortable here, so I'm not going to draw this out any longer than necessary.”
“But it's your first gala…”
“So?”
He looked a bit bewildered; “... So, … don't you want the full experience?”
I shrugged, smiling softly; “is this going to be my last gala?”
“... No, probably not.”
“Then why would getting the ‘full experience’ matter more than your comfort?”
He blinked a bit, smiling softly. “... You're wonderful.”
“Oh sweetheart, … the bar is on the floor for you, isn't it?”
He grunted softly, pulling me closer to whisper in my ear; “let me guess, you'll fix that for me?”
“Inch by inch if that's what it takes.” I turned to kiss him gently, squeezing his hand.
A cleared throat nearby drew us apart, and Bruce raised his eyebrows at us. “Jason, you can't just cling to the walls all night.”
“I'm not clinging to the walls, Bruce. I'm standing with my girlfriend while she finishes her drink.” Jay gestured for me to take the last sip, and I did. He took the glass, setting it on a high table; “now, if you'll excuse us, I promised her a dance tonight.”
He took my hand, leading me onto the dance floor. I rested my hand on his shoulder as he took my waist. Nerves fluttered through my stomach and chest; we had practiced the steps a bit, in my living room, but it was very different with a gown on in front of a room full of people.
“Hey, there's only you and me here, ok?~” Jason smiled gently, holding me close. I nodded, gently squeezing his hand as he guided me to spin.
Everything felt so perfect and magical, like nothing could go wrong as long as I was in Jason's arms. The world fell away as I looked into his eyes, almost drowning in the adoration pouring from him. I was so enraptured by him, I almost didn't hear the windows shattering behind me…

I just woke up and got stuff to do today so this ask will probably be short.
Bruce "Anxiety is my strength" Wayne being groped by different men and women at a gala but doing nothing to stop them despite being uncomfortable because Brucie Wayne is a playboy who wouldn't care—who would love the attention.
His children have a problem with that mentality. All of them (the main 7 at least: Dick, Jason, Tim, Duke, Steph, Cass, Damian).
mmmm. this you? anyway lets answer-
Damian was bored. This was nothing new, at least, not concerning Gotham's elite. Gala's were the epitome of horrible boringness, but he did understand the need for them. The need for enforcing their public personas. Didn't mean knowing the reason and knowing it was logical made it any more fun.
He drifted over to his eldest two brothers side, as the two had congregated over by the wall, watching the dance floor critically. It was rare to see them together at functions like this, especially this high profile of a Gala, not because they didn't like each other (anymore) but more because everyone usually spread out, endorsing different parts of Wayne Enterprises and wooing the guests in different ways. To gather meant not doing that. To gather showed regrouping, showed disinterest in the guests.
"What are you doing?" Damian asked, joining them. Though it was wrong for three of them to be off the dance floor and not mingling, he couldn't help it. He would never admit it, but his siblings were the most interesting people here. "Watching Bruce." Dick answered grimly, indeed not taking his eyes off his father.
"Jay we have to do something." Jason ran a hand through his hair, messing it up, and shrugged at his brother, though it clearly annoyed him as much as it did Dick whatever they were discussing.
"Do what?" He asked, throwing up a hand. "We can't intercede or Bruce will skin us. You know he'll always take everything so we don't have to." Dick gritted his teeth.
"He shouldn't." He bit out. Jason's look was sympathetic. "When's the last time you were groped Dick?" His voice was soft. Damian glanced up in shock and disgust. Dick's head dropped and Jason laid a comforting hand on his shoulder.
"What is going on?" Damian repeated, now a little concerned. "Dad is letting himself get touched." Tim answered grimly, appearing from the shadows, Steph trailing behind him.
"He does this every time." She said, both trying to appear like it was no big deal, and also seeming like she'd like to kill everyone in the vicinity. Steph maneuvered her way to Damian's side, tugging him against her. "Having fun?" She asked, keeping one hand firmly on his shoulder as an older lady approached.
"So much." He returned, monotone. Steph snorted, snagging a glass of wine off a nearby servers tray. "Tell me about it. Trust me, it gets so fun when you actually get to drink at these things." She tipped the glass back, draining it.
"Bruce catches you doing that and he'll beat you." Dick warned, experience clear on his face. Steph snorted. "To do that he'd need to separate himself from the crowd. And we all know he won't be doing that." The words made everyone fall silent again, but Jason still nudged her in the side.
"I'd still watch it. B keeps a tally. If he sees it, you'll get it later." Steph rolled her eyes, but Damian noted she did not grab another drink. "I'll go dance with him." She announced finally, after they had observed Bruce get groped a few more times and either lean into it or laugh it off.
"Right into the lions den?" Dick asked with a wince. Steph shrugged, stepping away from Damian and pushing him into Tim, like she needed a second detached from all others to prepare herself, and needed him to be as far away as possible when she did. Tim's hands tightened on his shoulders, and Damian leaned further back, allowing himself to be engulfed by the strength and smell of his big brother.
Steph rolled back her shoulders, nodded to them, and strode off, head held high, shoulders back, walk direct. Bruce's eyes widened as she approached and even from this far away Damian could read the fear and threat in his eyes. Steph disregarded both, muttering something in his ear as she spun him away from the new round of people trying to grab him, spinning him onto the dance floor.
Bruce dipped his head to say something in response, and Dick hissed. "Babs." Tim explained quietly at Damian's confusion. "Steph say something good?" Jason asked mildly. Dick offered a slightly less haunted smile back. "He said he's been counting her drinks and he hopes she can still hold a staff by the end of the night because she'll be sparring with him for as many minutes as she had ounces." Jason hissed through his teeth. Dick's smile grew. "She answered that she's been keeping a tally too. And for every person he lets touch him, she gets one of us on her team." Jason whistled through his teeth as Tim choked on his drink.
Dick cocked his head, getting new intel. "Ooooh she's just upped it- for every ten people that he lets touch him she gets an extra teammate." Tim snorted. "Bruce had already let way too many people. That's at least four of us against him."
"He can take it." Jason answered back coldly. "If he's so keen on having so many people touch him I'm sure having four of his kids do so won't be a problem." Dick's smile was downright masochistic as he watched his father.
"He won't be able to walk." Dick informed them had been Barbara's verdict. "Good." Tim returned. "It's better it's because of us than it's because of any of them." Damian shuddered and his brother pulled him impossibly closer.
The dance had finished and Steph stepped away, giving Bruce a mock bow. He returned it, stiff, and shot a glance in their direction. Jason lifted a glass in lazy salute, tipping it back. Dick and Tim followed suit. Bruce's eyes narrowed. Before someone else could snatch him up, Cass was there, leading him in a second dance, and if Steph could hold the people at bay, Cass most certainly could.
She returned to their sides, bearing a whole tray of drinks. "Come on lads, drink your share," She hefted the tray higher, and everyone snagged one. (except Damian, she had grabbed him a juice box from behind the bar) "all of us drunk against B? What could possibly go wrong?" Dick snorted and Jason let out a chuckle.
Tim clinked his glass against hers. "If all goes right," he answered grimly. "You'll be the only drunk one fighting him." The mood grew a tad more somber, then Jason clinked his glass against Tim's. "I'll drink to that." Dick agreed. "Pray on my downfall i guess." Steph muttered, but she put her glass in too, and when they drank, she drank along.

2009 era Damian reading
As I've been doing my 2009 era Damian reading, I'm trying to condense the good stuff and bad stuff, and things I believe are relevant for his character. These are in addition to what I assume is obvious (Batman and Robin 2009, the comic where he has a starring role).
Battle for the Cowl: this has how Damian becomes Robin. It's not necessarily good. Daniels really does not understand Damian, especially this early in his writing, but it does have some important context for things going down b/c Damian helps Squire save Tim's life, and we can see Dick viewing training Damian as something he is responsible for.
Secret Origins (2014) #4: This is a much more in character Damian becoming Robin, though fit for a condensed new 52 timeline that leaves some stuff out (like Damian's rocky intro with Bruce).
Batman #688 (Long Shadows part 1): Winick seems one of the early writers who does a Damian as he lines up with later characterization (views himself more as a professional assassin), so I think this one's good.
Batman: streets of Gotham #1-6: damian makes some minor appearances here.
Batgirl #5-7: Always take Damian's guest-starring stuff with a grain of salt, as often times writers just go with "how would an obnoxious 10 year old boy act here" without understanding he's a specific kind of obnoxious 10 year old boy... that said I do like some of his interactions with Steph, and I think it's incredibly important that we see Damian defends his competence based on his training, not on his blood.
Like he'll sometimes justify why he belongs based on his blood (which like... no one acts like they want him around), but he isn't going around saying "I'm better than you b/c I'm batman's son". he was trained intensely since birth (and that's why he should say he's better than you :P)
Batman #692-697: not a ton of Damian in this, and it is Daniel's writing, but he's a little better than he was in Battle for the Cowl. We see Dick training Damian some.
Batman: Streets of Gotham #7, #10-#11: love this plotline for him. Good show of competence and characterization.
Blackest night: batman: More focused on Tim and Dick, and Tomasi sucks at writing Babs, but at there is some Damian content that I remember enjoying.
Red Robin #11-15: as long as you read this one with your brain turned on, it's good for explaining some Tim and Damian stuff. Sadly some fans are like "woooo arrogant 10 year old gets beat up". Nicieza makes some missteps (frames Tim's thinking around Damian as coldly logical, when it is anything but and he is reacting from a place of emotion), but one can ignore those.
Batman #703: shows Damian's character pretty well in a default Batman and Robin adventure, and his relationship (or lackthereof) with Bruce and his dynamic with Dick and Alfred
Teen Titans #88-92 (including Red Robin #20 in a crossover plot): surprised by how well I liked this one. I think it portrays Damian pretty fairly, and we can see that he is trying hard, but hasn't been given a lot of support up until now (or even now, Dick kind of just drops him off with a bunch of older kids who all also have issues and are predisposed to disliking him XD). His dynamic with rose is fun and I think it is notable how quickly he does acquiesce to following Cassie's orders when she's like (at first) the only Teen Titan who is OK with him being there and assures him its not personal when she makes a comment he doesn't like.
Bruce Wayne: The Road Home: Batman and Robin: Has some nice Dick and Damian banter, showcases how they've worked together well
Batgirl #17: more damian and steph interactions.
I will probably add more (either editing this post or in a reblog) as I keep reading.

The day Eddie quit his job
Me: it would be fun to mix this months microfic prompt with last years Me: hey I don't have anything for rarepair *proceeds to write CheerScoops for STEDDIEmicrofic prompts*
ANYWAY
for @stevieweek Day 7: Rare Pair + sapphic (+ one + pool) | M | 1111 | Stevie/Chrissy &Eddie, mentioned Chrissy/Eddie | open relationship, streamer!Stevie, FanslyModel!Chrissy, friends with benefits (?) lots of wiggle room for interpretation, CHAT FIC
Short stream, big announcement!
elderning: is it time????
beatred: Cheer100 this better be about the pool stream
"Chat, chat, calm down, it is about the pool stream." Stevie is rolling her eyes as soon as she appears on the screen. "I had a nice speech prepared and you're ruining it." She frowns, pouting her full lips. "Can you stop yapping for five seconds and let me speak?"
bimbothelotrguy: No yapping
ballstothewall007: Proceed queen
bimbothelotrguy: :x
"So, we recently hit one million subscribers on YouTube, which, thank you so fucking much, holy shit!" She grins. "And, true to my word, I'll be doing a pool stream as promised. Don't know when yet, but stay tuned, I'll give you a heads-up. And thank you again, though I know you had ulterior motives." She smirks at the camera.
mojito_chan: ulterior motives?? us??
mojito_chan: must have mistaken us with a different chat
bimbothelotrguy: BADONKERS
powerdrill1000: message deleted by a moderator
"Yeah, exactly," she snorts. "Okay, I don't have much time today, but there's this one game I want to check out and we can talk out the details while we're at it."
MasterOfChatters: I have a bad feeling about this
Stevie looks at her chat, and smiles.
"Are you high again, Master?"
MasterOfChatters: would you fire me if I was?
"No!" she laughs.
MasterOfChatters: then yes
She leans close to the mic.
"There's someone in your house, Eddie."
MasterOfChatters: FUCK OFF
big stream big surprise!
beatred: oh
bilbothebimbo: oh no
mojito_chan: I mean...
Stevie's not there yet, but they can see the set-up for today's stream. The pool behind SailorSteph's house is right there. Still behind her house. Still behind the glass door. Behind a huge inflatable pool full of colorful plastic balls.
ballstothewall007: is there at least some water in there?
footjoblover: -slow clap- well played

MasterOfChatters: KNEW YOU WERE COOKING SOMETHING
MasterOfChatters: @footjoblover nice nick
SailorSteph: @MasterOfChatters oh I'm not done cooking
footjoblover: @MasterOfChatters thank you good sir
The chat starts flooding after her brief appearance, and her moderator has to put it in slow mode.
"Chat, I'm coming! Calm down!" the microphone picks her up from somewhere in the house, and soon she appears in the camera's view. Her outfit is skimpier than usual, with a tiny crop top and bootcut shorts. She's holding a colourful drink and she steps into the ball pit to settle down.
footjoblover: F E E T
MasterOfChatters: @footjoblover I'll let it slide this once
She sips on her drink while adjusting the stream settings.
"I know some of you might be disappointed..." She skims over the chat briefly. "Yeah, I'm not sorry about that. If you didn't see it coming it means you're new here. Anyway, since you're not getting your softcore fix, I have another surprise for you big babies. We're having a guest today."
ggiirrllss: is it ChiChi???
prawncocktail: please be cheerscoops
bimbothelotrguy: oooo a collab?

bimbothelotrguy: @MasterOfChatters u got me there hot mod daddy
"I'd be angry that I'm playing into your guy's sick fantasies, and I've seen your fanfiction, okay?" She looks straight into the camera, leaning in, eyes squinting. "So don't even try denying. I know what you're thinking about. Anyway, I would be angry if she wasn't such a genuinely lovely person. And she agreed to play with me today."
prawncocktail: SHE
bimbothelotrguy: chichi???
prawncocktail: please be chichi please be chichi please
"Come on babe, don't be shy." Stevie smiles at someone off-camera, and then stands up to help them step into the pool.
"You know, chat..." The mic picks up a new voice. "I've actually been lied to as well, and I flew in here with a bag full of swimsuits." The girl pouts and when she sits down you can indeed see she's wearing a bikini with a kimono-cut short robe thrown over it.
"I didn't lie, you all just assumed pool means water." Stevie rolls her eyes. "Besides, we can still go take a dip later." She sends a suggestive smile to the girl on her left, who takes a sip of her drink and wiggles her eyebrows with a smile.
"I think we broke your chat," she points out. Stevie turns to one of her monitors to see what's happening.
Among the slew of emotes, only her mod's messages can be seen.
MasterOfChatters: CHRIS WHAT THE FUCK
MasterOfChatters: YOU SAID YOU'RE VISITING YOUR MOM
Chrissy, aka CheerCheer or ChiChi, as she's known online, stirs her drink slowly.
"No, I said I'm visiting Mommy." She grins, throwing her long, bare legs over Stevie's lap. Stevie smiles brightly and her mod, who's also Chrissy's boyfriend, knows it's directed at him.
MasterOfChatters: I'm
MasterOfChatters: appaled. speechless. mad.
MasterOfChatters: and so glad I put these fuckers in emote-only

"One hundred?"
"I'd do it for free." Stevie gives her the most charming smile while idly stroking up her shin. It finally makes Chrissy blush.

"Right," Chrissy says softly, parting her lips for the other girl to slot into.
The kiss is sweet and chaste, Stevie's hand squeezing briefly her knee before caressing her cheek and letting go. She smiles at her, pecks her nose, and turns back to the camera.
"Hope you got your money's worth, milkpudding. Thank you for the one hundred." She smiles sweetly.

DC Batman Prompt: Please (Dis)Incorporate
Bruce was prepping for a gala later in the evening. Tim and Stephanie would be on patrol tonight, while Dick, Duke, and Damian had to make appearances along with Bruce.
The day had felt off. Bruce didn’t like it. He had gone over all of his procedures. Nothing about this day stood out special.
He was walking downstairs when he froze. He noticed a man standing at the end of the staircase, looking up at him expectantly.
The man looked completely unfamiliar, and yet deeply familiar at the same time.
The man smirked up to him, in an expression almost reminiscent of Jason.
“Hello Bruce.”
The voice, also; unfamiliar and yet one Bruce recognized.
“Hello, I apologize, I didn’t realize I had a guest.” Bruce replied pleasantly, wondering how the man had gotten in.
The man’s eyes crinkled; it reminded him of Dick’s when he knew something Bruce didn’t.
“I let myself in; don’t worry, it’s just us- for now. Alfred has been called out.”
Bruce narrowed his eyes.
“No, no,” the man continued gesturing for Bruce to continue down the stairs. “I wouldn’t hurt Alfred. Caring-” The man’s body -glitched- “permissive” -glitch- “militaristic” -glitch- “butler of Bruce Wayne, Batman.”
The man was either a time traveler, a multiverse traveler, or a mixture of the two based on his stuttered body trying to find the correct adjective to identify Alfred.
“What do you want, then.” Bruce had reached the man. The man was both taller… shorter… the same height as him.
The man sighed, his right hand gesturing vagueling, similar to one of Stephanie’s.
“Come with me.”
He turned from Bruce, walking toward the living room often used for family night.
Bruce tried to place his posture; he seemed to share Damian’s purposeful gate.
Luckily Damian wasn’t at the mansion; he had requested getting ready with Dick, to be sure “Grayson arrived on time for this one.”
When Bruce reached the doorway he noticed the room had been rearranged. A swivel chair in the center of the room; the television, couches, carpet, bookcase, everything, all removed. Except for the chair.
The man glanced at the chair. Bruce recognized the man wanted him to sit. When Bruce didn’t, the man sighed, quickly moved the fingers of his right hand, and snapped.
Bruce found himself sitting in the chair.
“Who are you.”
The man laughed sharp and quick. This one Bruce couldn’t place.
“You don’t recognize me? You should.” His voice clipped with a bit of static- similar to how Barbaras did sometimes when on the comms as Oracle.
The man glanced around the room, and looked back at him, expression calculating. Like Tim’s when he had pieced together a case.
“Family second, work first. Tonight, that is going to change.”
With that, he snapped again. Bruce tried to rush up, but found he was stuck to the chair.
On silver disks around the room his children appeared.
Dick, with a suit jacket half on. Jason, in mid stretch. Tim, holding an energy drink. Damian holding his sketch pad. Cass, pajamas. Duke, still in uniform, hands partially outstretched, as though in a conversation.
Instantly were on high alert. Attempting to move-
“Not yet.”
Their bodies froze, though their facial expressions were unaffected.
“And no powers for you.”
Bruce glanced as the shadowed corners lightened.
The man glanced at them, then back to Bruce. Bruce noticed the mans appearance had shifted-The man stretched, and as he did he became a woman with black/red/blond/brown hair. Constantly blending under the light as the different shades.
“We’re missing some. . .”
Bruce noticed the spacing in which his children were placed. To the right, Cass, Damian, and Duke stood a couple feet apart from one another, while to the left to near center Dick, Jason, and Tim had spaces between themselves. Between Tim and Cass a large space was apparent.
The woman snapped again.
To Jason’s left, Barbara appeared, outreaching with a book in one hand, and a small stack in her lap. To Cass’ left Steph appeared, paused in brushing her teeth. With a wave of the woman's hand, the books and toothbrush disappeared.
Instantly the spaces between his family were filled with seven others he didn't recognize.
Between Dick and Babs was a young woman around their age, with black hair and hazel eyes. Between Jason and Tim was a young woman with short reddish blonde hair and green eyes wearing glasses. Between Tim and Stephanie were two people. Two almost adult teens, a girl with half her dark hair shaved, and a boy with black hair, blue eyes. Between Damian and Duke floated a. . . Starro. And after Duke stood two people. A teen girl around Dukes age, blonde and blue eyed, and a girl around Damian’s age with brown hair and eyes.
The woman laughed mirthlessly as the new ones also attempted to get out, and their subsequent frozen natures.
“No spores for you little Jarro.”
Bruce again attempted to leave the chair; he was unable.
“Let’s name and label them, shall we?”
The woman pointed down the line.
"Richard “Dick” Grayson, the first Robin. Helena Wayne, daughter of Bruce Wayne. Barbara “Babs” Gordon, the best Batgirl, the Oracle. Jason Peter Todd, the dead Robin. Carrie Kellie, the forgotten Robin. Timothy “Tim” Drake Wayne, the detective Robin. Harper Row, the badass. Terry McGinnis, the future Bats, manufactured son of Batman. Stephanie Brown, the fired Robin, the purple one. Cassandra “Cass” Cain Wayne, the weapon. Damian Al Ghul Wayne, Stabby Robin, son of Batman. Jarro the Starro, the weird Robin. Duke Thomas, the daytime Vigilante. Claire Clover, the traumatized girl. Mia “Maps” Mizoguchi, the supernatural Robin, the time traveler."
She bounced on her feet.
The chair Bruce was in turned slightly to face each person that was named.
Bruce tried to memorize the faces of the ones he didn’t recognize. Helena. Carrie. Harper. Terry. Jarro? Claire. Mia.
“Look at them. Every child you have helped hone into a vigilante. Almost all of them would have donned a mask without you guiding them.” The disk under Jason’s and Jarro's dimmed.
“Many of them have also died working under you.” The disks under Dick, Barbara, Tim, Terry, Stephanie, and Damian's dimmed. Jason’s and Jarro's dimmed further.
"We all wind up as this." She motioned to herself. Her form shifted again as shadows under her grew.
“But the mission comes first.” The voice held a bitter edge. “Family comes second. Even if I am your child” -glitch- “partner” -glitch- “mentee” -glitch- “responsibility” -glitch- “sorrow.”
She turned toward Bruce. Now her face held a green and brown eye, mismatched eyebrows. A scar of a J on her cheek. Her form shifted again, no longer specifically masculine or feminine.
"It's already started you know. The incorporating. The ones you don't recognize? They've been dropped into this universe at least for the last week. Some have done better than others.
I came here to bring the rest of us into the same universe.” Their voice cold and dispirited. “Less pain.”
Suddenly their body spasmed. Their features painfully shifting from Helena-to Damien-to Terry.
“Time for me to go.” Their face shifted into a blend of Dick and Tim. The blue eyes pierced into Bruce’s own. The anger, the condescension had gone for just a moment. The voice whispered as a small childs. Hopeful. In pain. “Fix this. Please.”
Their body spasmed again and they took something out of their pocket- Bruce couldn’t get a good look at it- and their body seemed to fade into dust.
Instantly the force holding Bruce was gone. The disks vanished, and the others could move again as well.
Dick was the first to say anything.
“I’ll let them know that the Waynes will be absent at the gala tonight.”

Dropout Does Nerdy Prudes Must Die
I am a massive Dropout and Team Starkid fan (if the latter isn't obvious enough from looking at my reblogs) and I feel like there's a lot of overlap between the fandoms. My criteria for being considered a "Dropout Person" is anyone who has appeared on a Dropout show at least once, excluding guest appearances (so for example, Monet X Change counts because she's been on one season of D20 and an episode of Um, Actually, but Laganja Estranja doesn't count because she was only a guest on one of the Legally Not Survivor episode of Game Changer)
I will be trying to factor in voice types where I can, but there will be some instances where I just assume the person can sing the part, because I don't know if the person can sing or not. Also, I will be casting each of the individual parts, I know the actors in the OG cast play multiple parts, but there are so many talented people in the Dropout roster that I can cast each part individually.
Please enjoy. Also spoilers for Nerdy Prudes Must Die, I don't think I can talk about this without them. And also for Dimension 20's A Court of Fey and Flowers.
Max Jagerman: Grant O'Brien
I'll be honest, my main motivation for this one is that Grant looks a bit like Will Branner. He does play the heel really well, and I think he would do a great job playing Max, especially his more Freddy Kruger-esque quipping when he's dead.
Also, this is pretty niche, but in an old College Humour year-end video, where they all pick their favourite skits of the year (I think it was like 2018 or 2019?), Grant talks about how he thought it was really funny that in the Jocks and Nerds Both Think They're The Underdogs sketch, he was the closest thing the College Humour cast had to a jock, and this feels pretty similar to that.
Grace Chastity: Anna Garcia
She has a very unhinged "I am short and I will make that everyone else's problem" energy about her that you really need to play Grace. I think she would also do great with the physical comedy needed for the part.
Peter Spankoffski: Omar Najam
Awkward, nerdy guy who falls in love with the baddest bitch in the cast and would die for her. Am I describing Peter Spankoffski or Prince Andhera from A Court of Fey and Flowers? Also I want to hear Omar sing Cool as I Think I Am.
(This is a joke, love Binx but clearly Delloso De La Rue is the baddest bitch in A Court of Fey and Flowers)
Stephanie Lauter: Surena Marie
I don't have a real explanation for this one, this is vibes.
Richie Lipschitz: Ross Bryant
Watching Ross work his way through all the possible nerdy white guy rap options in Game Changer Karaoke cemented for him that he needs to play one of the nerds.
Ruth Flemming: Izzy Roland
A part that requires the performer to be deranged and horny? Call Izzy Roland!
Solomon Lauter: Brennan Lee Mulligan
Any Dimension 20 (or Critical Role: Exandria Unlimited) fan knows, Brennan is amazing at playing callous, cruel and manipulative characters, so Solomon Lauter is right in his wheelhouse.
Wiggly: Josh Ruben
Josh is so good at voices and playing weird characters, I would love to see his take on Wiggly.
Blinky: Erika Ishii
Erika Ishii is absolutely unhinged, I had to cast them as one of the Lords in Black. They could honestly be any one of them, but I picked Blinky because the voice Lauren Lopez does reminds me of Erika.
Nibbly: Lisa Gilroy
This one is also just vibes, but the vibes are correct.
Tinky: Zac Oyama
I am the head of the Zac Oyama As Weird Little Guys fan club, and what is Tinky if not a weird little guy? (who is also a chaotic evil eldritch being)
Pokey: Mike Trapp
I mainly just went off the vibes of the "What do you want Steph?" line, I think Mike would do well.
Detective Shapiro/Female Reporter in Hatchet town: Rashawn Nadine Scott
This is the only one I'm casting two parts, because they're both relatively small (and also I fully forgot that Bryce was not playing Detective Shapiro in Hatchet town until I checked the Genius page lol). Anyway, I think Rashawn would do great at acting as Detective Shapiro, but the main motivation behind this choice is that I want to hear her sing Bryce's part in Hatchet town. She would murder it as hard as Max murders nerdy prudes.
Officer Bailey: Jacob Wysoki
You need someone to chew scenery and throw props? Call Jacob Wysoki, he'll eat it up and go back for seconds
Brenda and Stacy: Jujubee and Monet X Change
I want to see them do the Go Go Nighthawks cheer, I think it would be amazing.
Jason and Kyle: Zeke Nicholson and Ify Nwadiwe
They both seem like the kind of guys to give butt slaps (consensually of course).
Mark and Karen Chastity: Zach Reino and Jess McKenna
They both have Awkward White Parent energy, and I think they would be very funny in this part.
Miss Tessburger: Vic Michaelis
Watching them play Vic Michaelis in Very Important People makes me think they would be great as the haughty assistant.
Miss Mulberry: Katie Marovitch
Katie just has "That nice teacher who lets students eat lunch in her classroom" energy.
Dan Reynolds: Lou Wilson
You need an icon to play an icon.
Emma and Paul : Emily Axford and Brian "Murph" Murphy
Dropout's iconic married couple to play Hatchetfield's iconic couple.
Hard Cuts:
Ify Nwadiwe as Max Jagerman:
He would have slayed the acting, but I assume based on his speaking voice that he's a baritone on the lower end of the range. However, if I am wrong about this and he could sing the tenor part, please treat him and Grant as tied for the part in my eyes.
Ross Bryant as Solomon Lauter
Vic Michaelis as Detective Shapiro
Erika Ishii as Ruth Flemming
Tao Yang as Peter Spankoffski
Jess Ross as Karen Chastity
Jacob Wysoki as Max Jagerman
Wayne Brady as Dan Reynolds
Aabria Iyengar as one of the Lords in Black
Anna Garcia as Blinky
Brennan Lee Mulligan as Wiggly
Lisa Gilroy as Grace Chastity
Grant O'Brien as Solomon Lauter

Ahh I was so excited for this day, partly because I was one of the people who proposed the prompt but whatever. Steph and Cass get married. That's the tweet. They deserve it 👰♀️
Hope you enjoy reading!!
STEPHCASS WEEK Day 5: Wedding
Word count: 1,386
@stephcassweek
Cassandra and Stephanie rarely watched romcoms or other sappy films, they'd rather put on a comedy or horror. Sometimes it was just so late into the night and they were too tired to find anything, they'd snuggle up on the coach and watch that was on the cable. This time it was some romance that ended with the main couple getting married.
Cass was absolutely mesmerized when she saw the beautiful woman on screen walk down the aisle in her white dress. She was to a few weddings in her life, but she never felt like she did at the moment watching this scene. She had butterflies in her stomach, she was hypnothised it and one thought appeared in her head.
"You'd look beautiful in a wedding dress, Stephanie." Cass blurted out. Steph, who was even sleepier than her partner, turned her head down to her chest, to which the dark-haired woman snuggled to. A blush came out on her face first, but then she smiled heartly, a bit embarassed, like she did when Cass called her 'the cutest girl in the world' or something along these lines.
"You'd look gorgeous in one too, babe." Steph said "Or some suit. Well you look great in everything, so that should be obvious." Cass smiled at her girl's compliment. Steph turned her head to the TV, but Cass did not finish.
"I think that... and I really want to see you in it." Cass was looking dreamily at Steph when she said this, the sappiness of the film might have gotten to her. Stephanie felt so happy hearing this. She pulled Black Bat's face closer to hers and gave her a kiss.
"Well... can do. Just get me a ring first." Steph said and winked at her girlfriend who started giggling. "I'll get you a ring with the biggest diamond in all of Gotham." Cass begun, sitting on the blonde woman's lap, taking away all of the attention for the film she had left, "Even if it means having to steal it from Harley Quinn."
"Damn, Wayne. You'd do all of that for me? What, are you in love with me or something?" Steph said and their lips were joined together again.
Stephanie might have underestimated the speed of her partner. It took two weeks before Cass caught her unexpectedly with an engagement ring, when they went out on a date to a cute local coffee shop. Steph was a crying mess when she realized it was actually happening and barely managed to say "Yes" to her girlfriend proposing.
Cassandra's family was all hands on board when it came to the wedding planning, especially Bruce and Alfred for whom the topic of their nuptials became the go-to thing they would talk about to them for the months leading up to it. With all the help the women received from their friends and family, the preparations took 4 months before the whole thing was set.
Stephanie was sitting in one of the Wayne Manor's guest rooms before a large mirror. She was already in her white dress with the make-up on. Her hair was tied in a nice bun and her mother was putting the finishing touches on how the veil was attached.
"Aaand now we're done. You can stand up, honey." Steph did as her mother told her to and looked at herself in all her glory in the mirror. She felt a lump form in her throat. Crystal also got hit in the feels as the woman heard her sniffling like she was about to cry.
"Mom, I beg you not to cry right now or else I'm gonna start too and that make-up took quite a while." Her mother chuckled at her joke and they soon embraced each other.
"I'm so proud of you, Stephanie. You know how things between me and your father came out. But I'm sure you made a right choice being with Cassandra. She's such a sweet girl." Crystal said and Steph had an even harder time trying not to cry now.
"Thank you, mom." She said softly, exactly as Tim stormed into the room. As he caught Steph in his eye, he could not say anything for a few seconds, beside mouthing a 'Wow'. He finally caught his thoughts and said, "We have 10 minutes left, so you better get into position!" Steph looked at her mother with a perky, yet determined look. "Let's get this girl married." She said pointing at herself with a smile and they left the room.
The whole wedding would take place on the Wayne Manor grounds. The ceremony was set to be done in the main hall, where Bruce would host the galas, and then the reception in the Manor gardens. There was no media coverage and no paparazzi knew about the event, partly because of the secrecy they managed to maintain, but Zatanna also proposed creating a magical barrier around the house, so that no one from outside would see anything.
Stephanie's heart was pounding like crazy, as she stood in the corridor from which only one pair of doors stood in the way of getting into the hall. She felt so hot under the gown and with the veil on her face. She squeezed Crystal's hand to calm herself down. They finally received the signal to go.
The doors opened and the Gotham heroine saw the beautifully prepared hall with various floral ornaments. The guests were standing on two sides of the aisle, waiting for her to get to the altar. She saw a girl playing the bridal chorus on the piano in the corner of the hall.
All of these things stopped to matter, the moment she saw her fianceé in a white pantsuit, neatly emphasizing the woman's figure. Steph's heart skipped a beat. She walked as carefully as she could in her gown, as it was kinda heavy, especially with the cathedral train trailing behind her, but she looked like a princess and Cass was giving her the heart eyes during the whole walk, so it was worth it.
They faced each other at the altar. Cass felt tears springing into her eyes. She lifted Stephanie's veil. "You look beautiful." She whispered, squeezing her fianceé's hands. A wide smile was not leaving Steph's face. They turned to Selina, as she cleared her throat before starting her speech.
"Hello, family and friends, it's heartwarming to see so many of you here today, as we gather to see Stephanie Brown and Cassandra Cain-Wayne be linked by the bond of marriage."
She went through the introduction without a hitch, underlining the love between the women. If you weren't crying during Selina's opening speech already or during the 'I do' exchange, you definitely got something in your eye, when the women read their vows. Stephanie herself was almost weeping when reading off her card. Cass' vows were short, but very sweet and Steph needed a handkerchief as her partner finished.
It was now time to exchange rings. Nell Little, the women's Batgirl protegé, stood up from her front sit and gave Selina the pillow with the bands. She took the first one and gave it to Stephanie.
"Stephanie, as you place this ring on Cassandra's finger, please repeat after me. With this ring, I thee wed and pledge you my love now and forever, until death do us part." Stephanie repeated the vow and carefully slid the ring on Cass' finger. Selina turned to Cassandra and asked her the same thing. She did as told and carefully placed the ring behind Steph's knuckle, next to her engagement one, tears rolling down her cheeks while doing so.
"As you have proven your allegiance before all these witnesses, I have no other choice than, with the power vested in me by the State of New Jersey, pronounce you spouses for life. You may kiss!" Selina finished her speech and an applause rose in the hall. Cassandra did not waste any more time and dipped her wife to the ground, sealing the deal with a passionate kiss.
"You're a good kisser, Mrs. Cain-Wayne." Cass whispered in Stephanie's ear as they walked together, making her flusttered. "You're not so bad yourself, Mrs. Brown." Steph replied with a seductive note in her voice and stole another kiss from her wife.

Bruharvy story where, after Dick joined the police force, Jason decided he would no longer be talking to Dick without a lawyer present, something Steph and Cass quickly jumped on board with. So, in order to continue family dinners with minimal disruption, Bruce invites a semi reformed Harvey to join them, something he eventually agrees to once being promised Alfred would be cooking and that this would be something of a fresh start separated from their complicated history. He was there as a lawyer and a guest, not Bruce’s best friend.
This eventually turns into a major stabilizing force in Harvey’s life, giving him a chance to be around other people who understand him and his situation without judgement. The two end up reconnecting over quiet moments and chaotic dinners. I don’t think Harvey would ever be 100% free of Two Face, but with therapy and medication he does manage to stabilize to the point of being able to rebuild his life, and if Two Face is to ever make an appearance, Harvey is free to the same zero-judgement escape clause as Jason, something which bizarrely results in an odd friendship between the two (“sorry I kicked off your old man” “it’s cool, he was a jackass anyway.”)
One night, the near ever constant rain of Gotham picks up into a storm, leaving Harvey unable to leave the manor despite the kids all having been gone by that point. Finding himself all but alone with Bruce for the first time in decades old feelings long since buried resurface. Still, things are different now, he’s different now, but then, so is Bruce. They’ve both grown older, more world weary, but Harvey realizes he likes the change he sees. All there is to find out now is if Bruce does as well.

U know i do kinda find it weird how some make steph have camaraderie w the ppl that tim knows
Like outside of the generaal batfam sphere(excluding helena bc she is a outlier and maybe jason but even then they get paired up in fandom spaces)
She just not?? Amicable or a team player tbh
Like in yj19 all the sudden the c4(excluding tim) are cool w steph??? Like what? When did that happen???
(or even that arc that they went to evil alt earth where they are all evil but steph isnt??? Writer did u not even realize what you have said about the other steph???)
Idk i just think of all bat character, she is to be stricly gotham base
I give Brian Michael Bendis (the writer on YJ19) a pass because I was following him on Twitter from the point YJ19 and the Wonder Comics imprint was announced, all the way through the end of that series.
From the second the announcement was made, his social media was completely inundated with people demanding that Stephanie be included in YJ19, entirely because she'd last been seen leaving Gotham with Tim. He also got flooded with asks about whether Cissie would make an appearance, or Aqualad (because YJ animated was still at the peak of its popularity and there was a whole contingent of fans who had zero clue that Kaldur was created for that show and that Jackson Hyde looks like but isn't exactly him), but with Steph? He and his co-creators got full on harassed, and it only got worse because she happened to turn up in a flashback in Issue 4. There were Internet journalists who derailed interviews he was giving to hype up his new Black and gay heroines just to demand more Stephanie, it was bad.
And then there was this whole mess that's going to be hard to explain succinctly. But it boils down to: given the timing of when the series was announced, they almost certainly had issues #1-#3 fully drawn and either at or on its way to the printer, issues #4-6 at least partially drawn and colored, issues #7-9 completely scripted and possibly with pencil drafts under way, and issues #10-12 drafted, with an outline already prepared for the second year if they thought they were going to go beyond 12.
But then something happened after the announcement -- and it had to have been after the announcement, otherwise they could've pushed back their release dates -- that led them to rewrite the entire second half of the year, everything from the end of #5 on. You can tell because the covers, which get made ahead of the rest of the issue, start going really wonky from #6 on and don't match up with the contents of the story, plus there's disconnect in the early solicitations. Also they skipped a month between #6 and #7 while making #7 basically a filler issue with guest artists who happen to have very simple, quick-draw cartoony styles that are easier to produce in a hurry.
That kind of turn-around on a publishing project is nuts, it's not fun to deal with. I would be surprised if Bendis had time to give his artists more than a "shitty rough draft" to work off of. But like I said he was still getting this constant barrage of demands for Steph so, as long as he was doing rewrites anyway, he took the chance to drop her in, or maybe the editor insisted he do so to try to bring in more readers. Either way, he just didn't have the time to make it good or put any thought into it.
I honestly feel so bad for their whole creative team. That's such a terrible situation to be in, and the first five issues make me feel like they were really putting their hearts into it. It's so sad it got derailed so badly.

I have been flirting around with a few DP x DC fic ideas (as an author does), and I have come across what I think is my equivalent of Chekhov's Gun. And that is:
The Joker's Crowbar
Essentially, if the Joker is mentioned/appears as a character in Act I, he must be killed off no later than the end of Act II. The "who," "where," "when," and "why" of the matter are subject to change, but the "how" remains forever constant: the Joker must get beaten to death with a crowbar.
Some other laws of The Joker's Crowbar include:
The Joker must remain dead. No revisions, no take-backs, no Lazarus Pit. "The Joker is beaten to death with a crowbar" remains a full and true sentence from the moment of the deed onward.
It should not be a super-powered beat down. The character wielding the crowbar can have powers, if you so desire, but they cannot use them to kill the Joker. Why they don't use their powers is a decision up to the author, but I believe it is thematically important that the Joker, a larger-than-life shadow that has terrorized so many for so long, is ultimately defeated by a "regular" person using good-ol'-fashioned fisticuffs and a crowbar.
While I think it's more impactful if the Joker is killed by a "civilian," if you want a member of the Batfam to be the one to kill the Joker, by all means be my guest. However, there are two (2) people the Joker can never be killed by: Bruce Wayne and Jason Todd. Bruce can never kill the Joker because his code against killing should remain intact. Jason can never kill the Joker because his second life should not be dedicated to the man who ultimately destroyed his first. Everyone else, though? Go nuts. Dick can kill the Joker, Tim can kill the Joker, Damian can kill the Joker, Cass can kill the Joker. Steph, Kate Kane, Harper Row, Duke, and/or Lucius Fox can all kill the Joker. Obscure members like David Zavimbe and Claire Clover can kill the Joker. If you want Jarro to kill the Joker, then by golly, Jarro the Starro in a Jar gets to kill the Joker. So long as it's not Bruce and Jason, then you're good. I by and large like to have the Joker killed by outside influences, but even I am not immune to letting specific Batfam members go feral. My first picks, though, will always and forever be Alfred and Barbara.
The Death of the Joker should not be the be-all-end-all of the plot. If the list is followed and the Joker is dead by the end of Act II, then we have all of Act III still left to get through. This rule, however, of all listed, is the most flexible. I do think it's funny though if Joker getting wrecked is like... a B-plot, at best.
And that is the writing rule of The Joker's Crowbar. It's not a writing rule you have to adhere to, but I think it's interesting that all of my WIPs seem to be following this pattern, and I was wondering if anyone else could relate.

Formal Parties at Wayne Manor
One minor thing that always makes me roll my eyes is batfam fics where all the kids are expected to go to the Wayne Family Gala and not just go but stay for the whole evening. This is not a family party, this is a formal event. That isn't how formal parties work! Especially large ones held in the evenings! In most large formal parties, even the hosts do not bring their kids, because it is not an event designed for kids. The kids are going to be bored and unhappy at best, and disruptive at worst, and a lot of the attendees are going to be unhappy that there are kids present. And they have big enough houses that even a very large event will not fill the whole house, so the kids can stay in the family area and not have to deal with the guests, and there are staff to look after kids too young to be left alone.
If the host's kids are present at ALL, they will be present for a brief time early in the evening and then go back to their rooms and miss the rest of the event. The party in The Sound Of Music is actually a pretty good example of this. It's a large, formal party, and it's got dancing, dinner, and then (presumably) more dancing after dinner. The serious partying is going to start at dinner time. The kids are present when everybody's arriving and during the initial dancing, BUT they are not participating in the party; they are off to the side, watching it through the window. They are not in the ballroom dancing, they are not in the hall circulating with the guests and schmoozing like their father is, they are in nice outfits but NOT the formal wear that the adults are wearing. They are sent up to their rooms for the night before dinner. They have a short presentation before they go, of the "aren't our host's kids cute?" variety. Even the oldest, the sixteen year old Liesl, is too young to stay for dinner and the main party. Liesl is almost old enough to join the party, and if the Nazis hadn't come probably would have been allowed to participate in a year or so, but at sixteen she's still not old enough for the adult party.
So Damian is not going to be at the party, or not for longer than a brief "this is my son, isn't he cute" moment at the beginning. Tim and Steph and Duke probably aren't going to be at the party unless you're writing them as 18 or older. Jason would never have attended a gala before he died (except for a brief "this is my son, isn't he cute" appearance). If Dick is an adult, then he's old enough to attend ... but given how rocky his relationship with Bruce was when he came of age and moved out, he might not have been to very many of them.
Now, less formal events, they might have attended; they might have attended formal day events like garden parties. But even with day events or less formal events, they probably didn't attend many things that weren't specifically events for children. Because rich people usually don't bring their kids to events unless the events are specifically for children.
If you want something more realistic, you could have the kids doing something fun while Bruce (and possibly Dick) are stuck in the ballroom. Whether that fun is patrolling and foiling a criminal scheme or having a movie night or finding hiding places to watch the party and make fun of what people are wearing, there are a lot of options. Or maybe Bruce has a radio on so he can listen for danger to see if he needs to go change into the Batsuit, and the kids try and say the most outrageous things through it to try and get him to break character. There's lots of ways to handle it! And at this point, "the kids attend a gala" is a fandom trope, it's not going anywhere. It just makes me shake my head when I see it.
