when you're younger, your friendships are made up of shared experiences. you see each other every day in school or in uni, and you get to experience life together. in a way, you live the same reality. however, as you get older, your friends slowly get scattered all over the world, and you no longer get to experience life together. instead, you all live independent realities, and your friendship consists of catch ups and updates. friendship becomes more of a choice when you're older. you deliberately choose to have people in your life by keeping them updated on what's going. isn't that so cute tho? it's like "hey we haven't lived in the same city for years but I still feel as if you've been a part of my life because you've been supporting me from afar."
