Family Week Day 1. Family || Discovery
For all the things my hands have held, the best by far is you If I could fly then I would know What life looks like from up above and down below I'd keep you safe, I'd keep you dry Don't be afraid, Cecilia, I'm the satellite And you're the sky
Damian Wayne sighed as he set his phone down and looked at the painting in front of him. He smield to himself, the likeness between the photo he had taken of Daniel and the painting were uncanny. It had taken him weeks now to get his boyfriend to agree to let him paint a picture of him in his ghost form but now that he had gotten the permission, well all the pleading had been worth it.Â
The painting of Danny floating up into a tree surrounded by flowers and a bright smile on his face would be a vision that Damian would cherish for the rest of his existence.Â
He and Danny had been dating for just a little over six months now and every day so far had been perfect if Damian was going to say so himself. The two had managed to balance one another perfectly. Danny was all fun and adventure whereas Damian was more organized and practical. He managed to keep Danny from failing all of his classes at Gotham University and in return, Danny helped him live a little.Â
They had met in Damianâs art class. Danny was a current English student at Gotham University whereas Damian was an art student, so they would have never really crossed paths. Except Danny had apparently needed some extra money that semester and had taken a job as a model for Damianâs art class. It had been a semester of torture where Danny would shamelessly flirt with him as he stripped down to his birthday suit to pose in front of the class. It was as though he could tell that Damian found the idiot attractive and did everything he could to make the poor vigilante blush like a bumbling virgin.Â
At the end of each class period, though, Danny would approach Damian and talk and laugh with him. They had found themselves building a friendship together. They would get lunch every Thursday between classes. Damian would walk Danny back to his dorm most nights as his art class ran from seven in the evening until nine and as a good and noble vigilante that Damian was, he used that as an excuse to walk Danny to his dorm each night.Â
And after the final class of their fall semester, Danny had come up to Damian and shyly asked him to go out with him on a real date. Damian had become absolutely smitten at that point. They had gone to get dinner in Bludhaven so that Damianâs meddling siblings wouldnât catch them. As much as he loved his family, Danny was not something he was quite yet ready to share with his family. He wanted to hold Danny tight to his chest and keep him away from the insanity that was the Wayne family.Â
It was after their third date that Danny had started behaving strange and nervous with Damian and it was during their weekly lunch date that had been moved to Mondays for their Spring semester that Danny had admitted that he needed to share a secret with Damian.Â
That night Damian had been dragged to Dannyâs tiny two bedroom apartment in the Bowery at the beginning of their Spring semester and had learned Dannyâs secret status as a halfa. He had been half dead for six years at that point and had decided that if he and Damian were going to go any further in their relationship then he had to be honest about it.Â
Damian had taken that as his chance to share his own secret with Danny. He had done the thing his family had told him to never do and told the civilian that really wasnât a civilian if Damian thought about it, that he was Robin, the vigilante. Danny had whined relentlessly that it was just his luck that he, a former vigilante would somehow find himself dating a vigilante now that he was an adult.Â
Damian had just chuckled and kissed Dannyâs whines away, feeling light and at ease knowing that at least his beloved would understand what it meant to be a hero. Danny had been amazing about it, too. He had accepted that Damian would have late nights, that there would be days where he was sore and unable to do much. He would just have Damian come to his apartment and dote on him. He would create ice packs to chill Damianâs sore muscles, he would hold him tight on nights where Damian had failed to save someone and gave Damian the love and attention he needed and desired.Â
He hadnât realized just how emotionally constipated his family was until he had met Danny. Until he had learned about cuddle times and had gotten to experience the joys of dancing in the hallways to Andrew McMahon, Dannyâs favorite singer when his songs would come on the radio that Danny had playing at all hours of the day. It was with Danny that he had finally learned that crying was okay, that he could cry when he was frustrated, that bottling things up could lead to his downfall. Danny had taught him what it was like to be human, something Damian would have never expected from someone who was barely human himself.Â
It was with Danny that Damian had learned just what love was. That it wasnât this fragile, delicate thing that you had to constantly protect. At least not with Danny. Dannyâs love was fierce and strong. His love was what kept Damianâs nightmares at bay at night. Danny was the one who Damina found himself going to when he needed comfort, when he needed someone to just listen to his problems without trying to solve all of them for him. Danny was everything that Damian needed in a partner and he couldnât have been more thankful to find him.
He had been what Danny needed too, from what Danny had told him. In the time that they had known one another he had learned quite a bit about Danny. How he had never gotten the stability he needed growing up. How he had never felt like he could rely on anyone in his family, not even his sister. He loved Jazz but even their relationship had grown distant with her sister constantly making Danny feel inferior or like he didnât know as much as she did. His parents had been so obsessed with their inventions that they hadnât even noticed their son had died for four years. According to Danny they hadnât even noticed when he started transitioning to a man. They had to be told he was trans eventually because Jazz was losing her mind over the fact that the two just didnât notice.
It wasnât until Danny had packed up to move to Gotham for college that they had even learned about him being Phantom. And their relationship had just gotten even worse from there. He got Christmas cards and birthday cards, and a call every so often but that was the extent of their relationship. Jazz called to check up on him every so often but from what it sounded like they werenât the best phone calls between the two of them.Â
But it was okay, Damian was here for him. He provided Danny with the stability and comfort that he needed. He was here to be the rock when Danny needed to crumble and not be strong. He provided Danny with the things he had grown up without, just like Danny did for him.
Their relationship wasnât perfect, no far from it! They were still just two twenty year olds in their third year of college trying to navigate the world. Danny worked a lot at his job at the Gotham University library where he was a writing tutor plus his second job at the coffee shop. Unlike Damian he didnât have family to pay for college and had managed to secure enough scholarships to cover what his government aid wouldnât. But he still had to pay for his apartment, something he had desperately wanted after being unable to shift to his Phantom form at his dorm room for so long. It didnât help that Danny vehemently refused to allow Damian to pay for anything for him, citing that he had no desire to be a sugar baby.
Between classes, Dannyâs two jobs, and Damianâs job as Robin, the two were unable to spend nearly as much time together as Damian wanted and it had caused issues in the past. But that was fine, they were always able to move past that.Â
They loved one another and love would get them through just about anything.
Damian wiped his hands on his rag as he looked around. He was currently in Dannyâs apartment, waiting for the other to get back from his job at the coffee shop so that they could leave for dinner. It had happened about a month ago when Danny gave Damian a key to his apartment, citing that he wanted to give Damian a place to escape from his family when he needed. Which was appreciated.Â
Damian loved his family and he thoroughly enjoyed living at the manor where he had nothing to worry about but the older he got he needed more space. And Dannyâs apartment provided him with that space, and if there were a few drawers that were emptied so that Damian could store his things there? Well no one needed to know about it aside from him and Danny.Â
The doorbell rang, sounding throughout the room, causing Damian to frown as he set his paint rag down and started out of the bedroom Danny used as his study room/office and made his way to the door, grabbing one of his birdarangs just to be on the safe side. Danny hadnât said anything to him about expecting guests.Â
He hadnât said anything about anyone coming over, no packages, nothing of the sort. Damian looked through the peephole and his frown deepened when he found his mother standing on the otherside with what looked like a baby carrier in her hands.Â
He swung the door open and frowned. âMother, what are you doing here?â
She grinned and stepped into the house, pushing past Damian as she did so.Â
âOh Habibi! It has been so long since Iâve seen your precious face,â she crooned, setting the carrier down to throw her arms out and hug Damian. The former assassin simply took a step back and gave his mother a look.Â
âWhat are you doing here?â He asked, crossing his arms over his chest, giving her a clear view of his weapon.Â
She sighed and picked up the carrier once more. âI learned you were in a relationship with another man! I have brought you a gift to celebrate!â She said, thrusting the carrier into Damianâs hands. âI know that men cannot have children with other men, so I made you a child! One that is a clone of both you and Mr. Fenton.â
âMother! You cannot just make us a child,â he hissed just as Danny walked through the door and looked between the two. Talia turned to look at Danny and grinned.Â
âAnd you are the young man that my son is so smitten with!â she exclaimed. Damian sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. His mother had been doing everything she could to get back into Damianâs good graces the last few years and her displays of affection were steadily growing more and more over the top but this took the cake. To make him and Danny a baby to care for?
They had only been dating for six months! Had only known one another for a year! They werenât ready for a child, not yet anyway!Â
âBabe? Whatâs going on? Why do you have a baby?â Danny asked slowly, looking between Talia, Damian, and the baby carrier.Â
âMy mother thought that as our six month anniversary we were ready to raise a child together. She assumed that as we were both men, we would be unable to procreate and too matters into her own hands.â
Danny stared at him for a moment, and Damian could tell that his mind was doing mental gymnastics. âBut Iâm-â
âYes, I know Daniel. But mother did not and she decided to be meddling,â he said, glaring at his mother.
âWhat are you talking about?â Talia asked, looking between the two. âYou are both men, how else would you be able to get a child with that in the way?â
âDo not worry about that mother, just know that it was not necessary,â Damian hissed before Danny let out a curse.Â
âThis is the second time a fruit loop made a clone of me!â he whined, coming over to take the baby carrier from Damian. He carried the baby out of the room, leaving both Damian and his mother to stare behind him in confusion. Daniel had never told him he had been cloned before? How did he forget to mention such an important piece of information?Â
âŠÂ
Danny and Damian soon found themselves staring at a sleeping little girl. She looked to be roughly three months old by Damianâs calculations, he held his intertwined hands at his mouth as he looked over the little girl.Â
âShe has your nose,â Danny said softly, pushing the visor back on the carrier so that they could better look at her.Â
âShe has your mouth,â Damian murmured, unable to look away from the precious little girl in front of him. She had only been in Dannyâs apartment for an hour and already Damian was in love with her.
âHow are we going to raise a baby?â Danny asked with a sigh, running his fingers through his hair.Â
âWe will coparent, of course,â Damian said with a scoff.Â
âNo offense baby, but you still havenât even told your family about me. What are they going to do when you come home with a whole ass baby?â
âWhat if,â Damian started, his heart speeding up just a bit as he prepared to ask the question he had been wanting to ask Danny for the last two months. âWhat if I just moved in with you and we raised her together here? You have that second bedroom, we can clear it out and turn it into a nursery. I can pay half of the utilities and rent, then you will be able to quit your job at the coffee shop. Our class schedules are already opposite from one anothers with your classes in the morning and mine in the evening,â Damian said.Â
âYeah but you do that so you can sleep in after patrol,â Danny pointed out.Â
Damian shrugged his shoulders. âI have gone years with running on minimal hours of sleep. I will survive while we complete the last year and a half of our studies. We start classes in a few weeks, we have some time to get started on a routine with her and we will go from there.â
âAnd if there is any overlap in our schedules?â
âOther students bring their children with them to class all the time, we can do the same,â Damian said simply. âWe can do this, Danny. If anyone can do this, itâs us.â
Danny nodded and looked at the baby. âI know you said your mother was part of an assassin cult, but I didnât realize that meant she knew how to make clones. Also, how did she get my DNA?â
âSheâs an assassin, I do not know,â Damian said and shrugged his shoulders. âAnd yes, mother has a tendency to make clones of me, usually they are sent with the mission to kill me. This is the first time she has create a clone of me that is simply meant to be my child.â
âOh cool! I had a clone made of me by my godfather to kill me! Sheâs like my cousin now, sheâs travelling the Infinite Realms at the moment. I havenât seen her in years!â Danny said with a grin.Â
Damian let out a soft chuckle as he leaned over and rested his head on Dannyâs shoulder. âI love you, you goofball.â
Danny laughed and kissed the top of Damianâs head. âI love you too,â he said softly. âYouâre going to have to tell your family that youâre moving out of the house you know.â
âI know and they are going to have far too many questions that I am not interested in answering,â he huffed out.Â
His boyfriend simply snickered again and kissed the top of Damianâs head once more before resting his cheek upon it.Â
âShe looks like a Damiana,â he joked. Damian crinkled his nose.Â
âAbsolutely not. Our daughter needs a more sophisticated name. My grandmotherâs name was Martha.â
âThatâs na old ladyâs name, weâre not naming our baby Martha,â Danny said, taking Damianâs hand and winding their fingers together. âWhat about Hannah?â
âNo, doesnât suit her. What about Dahlia? It is a flower and ââ
âReminds me of the black dahlia and a little too close to your motherâs name. Which, I donât know if I should be mad at her for cloning me without my consent, or thank her because now I have an adorable baby that I have no clue how to raise. Oh my ancients, Dami, weâre going to have to buy parenting books! Both of us were raised with terrible parents! Talia is an assassin who raised her own baby to be one, Bruce is an emotional consitpated vigilante who allowed all of his children to become vigilantes before the age of fourteen! My parents werenât that bad but they were neglectful as shit and I ended up being raised by my sister instead! Neither of us know how to be a parent.â
âWe can get parenting books, not to worry,â Damian laughed. âWhat about Cecilia? After that song you like?â
Danny let out a hum. âI like it, Cecilia Grace, maybe?â He asked. âCecilia Grace Fenton Wayne. What a fuckinâ mouthful.â
Damian chuckled. âI like it, Cecilia Grace,â he whispered before Danny shrugged him off of his shoulder and leaned forward. Damian watched as Danny unclasped the buckles and pulled the sleeping girl out of the seat and cradled her close to his chest. A soft purr escaped from Danny, making Damian smile at the little display of his ghost side.Â
âHi Cecilia, Iâm your daddy,â Danny whispered, running a hand over the head full of black curls. âAnd this is your-â
âYour papa,â Damian decided, not wanting his child to grow up with the same rules he did. She would never call either of them father, she needed to call them something more comforting, more familial and less stiff and proper.Â
Danny glanced over at him, a soft red painted his cheeks. âSheâs perfect, Dami,â he whispered, running his hand over her hair once more. âWe have so much to figure out.â
âAnd we will, we will figure all of this out together,â Damian said, wrapping his arm around his boyfriendâs waist and resting his chin on Dannyâs shoulder so that he could look down at the little girl, at his daughter. He couldnât believe this was happening, but here they were with a small baby between them and the very beginning stages of building their own little family.Â
Now he just needed to figure out hwo he was going to announce to his family that he was abruptly moving out of the manor to move in with his boyfriend and daughter without arising suspicion from his family. This wasnât how he was planning on doing this.Â
He thought he would get to tell his family he was in a relationship, bring Danny over for dinner and let them get to meet him that way. Maybe they would date for a few more months before Damian finally got the guts to ask Danny if he could move in, and then the two would look for a new apartment when Dannyâs lease was up.Â
Of course, things did not always happen the way someone expected them to. They rarely did go according to plan in Damianâs life, at least. But at least this instance, it ended with a perfect little gift.Â

10: downpour â€
17 January, Monday 4.25pm
Location: Teyvat University's Foyer
Nothing ever goes as planned. Therefore people tell you to expect the unexpected. But how were you supposed to know that day it was going to rain? Even the weather forecast didn't expect it. What made things worst was that you forgot your dorm key and now you couldn't even go back to your dorm if you wanted to. You therefore resorted to texting in your gc for help

17 January, Monday, 4.47pm
You sat at your campus' foyer as you waited for Aether to arrive. You watched the rain pouring down everywhere. To see the water droplets crash down everywhere seemed so fascinating to you. Even though it was late afternoon, the sky was so gloomy. It almost seemed like it was in sad mood. The opposite to what you were feeling currently.
Your heart was racing and you waited for Aether with anticipation.
You didn't know why you were so worked up. Was it because it was your first time seeing Aether after two weeks? Probably.
You genuinely enjoyed his company that day and you wanted to hangout with him more. But you didn't know what was stopping you from asking him again. Did you feel shy with him? Did he enjoy your company? You hoped he did. Otherwise your goal to be friends with him was going to be impossible to achieve.
You soon heard the sound of someone running towards you. You turned around and spotted a familiar blond holding a large umbrella.
"Sorry if you had to wait a long time for me to arrive yn, I came as quick as I could."
You glanced over his features, he looked like he was out of breath and was gasping for air.
"It's alright Aether, I didn't wait for long. And you shouldn't have ran all the way here when it's raining, what if you slipped and got hurt??? Your sister would probably be worried sick!!"
You heard him give a small chuckle as a response and you sighed.
"Let's just wait here for a while until you catch your breath. After all, you only came here just because Lumine told you and I feel bad."
"I came here because it was you yn."
You felt your breath hitch and you looked at him in confusion.
"W-well i heard from lumine that no one was able to pick you up... and i thought you wouldn't have liked to stay here and wait until 6 for my sister or Hu Tao to arrive when you could be doing other things. I mean I wouldn't want to be stuck in this downpour alone as well, hahah.."
Wow, he was so thoughtful.
You gave him a small smile and replied, "Thanks Aether, I really appreciate you coming here to pick me up."
"Don't mention it! So..." He held his hand out towards you.
"Shall we get going?"
"We shall."
.
.
The walk in the rain was a quiet one, despite the rain crashing down everywhere. Both you and Aether were walking to his and Lumine's house in silence. The siblings opted to live in their own house instead of the campus dorms since their house was quite near to the college.
The both of you were sharing an umbrella together and were heading towards your destination. Though the umbrella was big enough to fit you both, you can't help but fluster over the fact that you were standing so close to him. Sure, you were literally on him when he saved you from the cyclist that day but that was different! It was in the heat of the moment. This time you were actually walking next to him and trying to not get wet in the rain.
"So... how was your day?" He asked. Probably trying to break the silence between you guys.
"Hmm... I guess it was alright. But Professor Varka was definitely picking on me today. He kept on asking me questions during lecture today and I couldn't even get out of it. And I think Ms Lisa is starting to get annoyed of me and Scara's antics lol, plus..."
While you were going on and on about your day, you didn't notice how big Aether's smile was getting as he stared at you.
"Oh shit, my bad. I didn't mean to talk so much haha.."
"No its fine, your voice is so soothing to hear if I'm being honest with you."
Oh?
Your heart started beating faster and you quickly became flustered.
Damn, I didn't know he was such a smooth talker.
"O-oh thanks... I didn't think my voice was actually that soothing to hear.. well what about you? How did your day go??"
Nice recovery yn.
"Me? It was pretty alright as well. I just finished my first journal entry today about Fontaine's latest invention."
"Ooo can I read it? I wanna know how you write your journal entries. I'm used to reading Lumine's entries, but I'm sure you have a different writing style than hers."
"Yeah sure! I can let you read some of my journals, oh and it looks like we finally arrived."
You looked up to see the familiar house you've been to many times. You used to visit Lumine at her house a lot since highschool, but whenever you were around, Aether seemed to be nowhere in sight. But now, it was just the two of you, in the house, alone.
And before you could do anything else, you had to get something off your chest first.

(Highschool time) Imagine kenma wanting to confess to his crush but is scared and kuroo is like "ill Help you!!" And he always makes comments when his crush Walks near like for example "kenma you were playing really well today!" And more stuff
Then someday he drags kenma to his crush and is making kenma feel embarrased about the stuff kuroo does to get then together
Bestie you always have such amazing ideas???? I live this it fits their friend ship so well Kenmaâs probably told him to knock it off so many times but Kuroo everytime is like but Iâm helping and kenma canât help but let him continueđAnywho! Tysm for the request! If anyone wants to see anything else let me know because I love requests!!

For the past six months everytime you passed Kuroo and Kenma youâd hear Kuroo being obnoxiously loud while he announces the achievements Kenma had made in the day.
Sometimes they werenât all truthful, like today you watched them practice, more like sat beside Kenma as he showed you how he beat a particularly hard level, but when youâd stopped at your locker which was right beside Kenmaâs, you heard Kuroo loudly congratulate Kenma on how hard he played during practice, you simply went about your day a little confused.
The next day at lunch you discovered that it was apparently only you that Kuroo did this around and your friends had no idea what you were talking about.
And than on Monday of the next week you figured out why. Today your friend had been out of school sick, so Kuroo took this opportunity to send Kenma in. Of course first he sat beside you dragging Kenma along, he started telling you about every possible thing about Kenma that you could be interested in.
You and Kenma shared a look of confusion as you watched Kuroo ramble for majority of the lunch.
ââŠand thatâs why I think you should go on a date with Kenma!â Itâs very clear heâs proud of himself, you can hear it in his tone and the way he holds his nose up.
ââŠalright sure! What timeâ you look to kenma whoâs eyebrows are raised to the sky, heâs never asked anyone in a date much less actually been on one before.
âSunday?â He sounds unsure and you nod quickly taking out an ink pen and writing down your number on his hand before going off somewheres.
âThat was so embarrassingâ Kenma mutters hiding his face in his hands.
âBut you got a date!â Kenma will give him that, he wouldnât have gotten a date with you if it wasnât for Kuroo.

Let me know if you guys want to see anything else because I love requests sm!!!

Interview from Laut 5/2022. Some very interesting insights from Tobias here on future tours, songwriting and... Imagine Dragons.
---
Tobias Forge is not really happy after taking a look at today's advance sales figures. When I meet the Ghost boss in the backstage room of the Lanxess Arena in Cologne, the conversation first revolves around the supposed German overcautiousness when buying concert tickets. And indeed: in the evening, many seats remain empty. But when it comes to the stage show, Ghost give their all again tonight despite weak sales.
First of all, how is Papa Nihil? With the daily reanimations on stage, you're putting him through quite a lot.
That's probably true. But in some moments he's fine. This coming back from the afterlife, reanimation and all that, that's certainly hard - but thatâs not my problem.
How does the transport look? Does he have private pallbearers or is he occasionally reanimated during the day to polish his saxophone?
No, no, we have people who take care of his saxophone, he stays nicely in the coffin. Anything else would be torture. Think of rigor mortis. We only resuscitate him if we need him.
Then give him my regards and of course congratulations on "Impera". Tell me honestly: Does a band's new album always has to be their best?
Ah, wow, hahaha! It should at least be your intention to make the best album you can. Nobody goes into the studio to make an okay album - even if the result might be just that in the end.
But that also flows into all the promo talk: even bands that haven't been relevant for 30 years regularly tell you that this new record is really the best of their career. Of course, self-reflection is not always easy.
We haven't got that far yet, so I'm a bit more pragmatic about it. When I look back, of course I think to myself, on this one we did this and that wrong, and on this one that was really great. Of course, when you have 15 albums, you can't easily list the concrete qualities of each one on one hand.
I think Metallica did it well, I saw an interview once where they said, "'Ride The Lightning' is our best album. Full stop." Pretty matter-of-factly, I mean, they could have easily said, "The Black Album is the best," simply because it did their career the best.
When I start a new album, I look closely at what I didn't like on the previous one. It's always a reaction to the previous album. Now that's not just to say, "Oh, the last album wasn't heavy enough, so I'll make this one heavier." Practical things too. I want the record to sound smooth, I want the hi-hat to be mastered properly and I like it in the mix.
Talking about hindsight: Over the years, Ghost have played almost all the songs from all the studio albums live. But only four songs from "Impera" can be heard tonight. What about the rest, will they be played on later tours?
It will come later, definitely. There's a pretty simple reason why the setlist is the way it is: band and crew are scattered all over the world. That's different from five dudes living in one city and rehearsing every Monday. We had to pick up a bit where we left off with our US tour - even if it's at the expense of other songs. "Watcher In The Sky", for example, we're really looking forward to that. "Twenties", at least some people want to hear that one, haha! Maybe also "Respite On The Spitalfields". A few of them we call "gag songs" because we have some special things planned for them - but we can't do them yet.
Interesting, because I have the feeling that many bands already sort out obvious surplus material for the release tour, which is then never played live. Is there no song that you can't listen to any more or that you think in retrospect is too weak or not successful? Or could every single song reappear in the setlist one day?
I would say about 95 per cent, yes. The rest are songs that just wouldn't work well live.
For example? "Deus In Absentia"?
"Deus" is definitely an odd song, but that also depends on where you place it in the set. That start-stop thing is very special, but it could work again. One song that didn't work at all live, although we really tried, is "Depth Of Satan's Eyes". I don't know why, I always liked it. I think it's the speed, maybe it's just too slow.
It just doesn't have that awesome swing like "Zombie Queen" from the same album.
Yeah, exactly! (laughs) So there are definitely some songs with asterisks behind them, but that doesn't mean we'll never play them again. We have to entertain quite a lot of people, so the stage show has to be fluid.
Is that also the reason why your closer "Monstrance Clock" got kicked out? Did you play it too often?
We played it a hell of a lot. But we're also thinking about an alternative tour, where we can play the stuff we're not playing at the moment. At the moment we end with "Square Hammer", which is such a banger that it leaves no room for more. Then in an alternative setting we will play "Monstrance Clock" again - those are just two completely different endings.
What interests me honestly is the role of the external songwriters in Ghost. On "Impera" there are more songwriting credits than ever for Salem Al Fakir and Vincent Pontare, known among others as songwriters by and for Avicii. How does it all work: you have a song idea and they put the finishing touches on the harmonies?
Most of the time I come up with one or two songs and say: "Look, I have song A here and I have song B here. Tell me, which one is the more interesting?" And then I just wait for the reactions. As soon as I present something to someone else, it's the reactions that encourage me to keep working. Just like with you as an author, where an editor looks over it again and says, "Look, I know what you want to say here, but can't you bring it to the point even better?". Otherwise I'll lose interest as a reader. Why don't you try to emphasise this other part a bit more, it's more exciting."
It totally helps me to exchange ideas with very good songwriters in order to grow myself. It also helps me to realise where I can trust my intuition and where not. Sometimes I try to bring in new things to specifically differentiate myself from my intuition - but then I get to hear: "No, no, you should do it your way, it just works better here."
But it's not like your partners write specific melodies or parts of the songs?
Of course you pass the ball to each other, of course there is input, especially when it comes to arrangements. My vocal lines are usually very intuitive. But when you sit down and think about how to add a third voice, then you get to the point where music becomes almost mathematical. It mustn't sound funny or sad, even if it might be harmonically correct. A lot of stuff like that.
Without influencing the sound too much?
As a pop musician, when you work with outside songwriters, they usually take more of a producer role. They build the sound. It was never like that with Ghost. In the demo phase, I play all the guitars, bass, keyboards and sing. But Salem [Al Fakir] in particular is an incredibly talented keyboard player who I can always rely on when I need a good piano part. But the instrumentation is always the same: two guitars, bass, drums, piano, organ, maybe Mellotron.
In my opinion, there are many negative examples from rock when it comes to the later involvement of external songwriters - Ghost is an absolute positive example for me, especially as far as the catchy tune factor is concerned.
What would be a negative example?
The last Linkin Park album ("One More Light"). They did a very good job of unfolding and trying things out for six albums and then just got off track with external people. I don't mean that in a "they have to be heavy and have fat guitars" way, because they had also made interesting electronic pop music before. But the result was just not homogeneous.
I don't have the album in my head right now, but I think that's the typical mistake. I never ask anyone to write me a song. That just doesn't work. But I think other people think, "Oh, I'll just get Greg Kurstin [Sia, Adele, Twenty One Pilots] to do it, he'll give us a sound".
And you manage to make sure that the end result is still Ghost through and through, though?
Yes, I hope so. I'll give you an example: there are bands that become overnight sensations. Let's take Imagine Dragons. Labels, media - suddenly the whole business wakes up. You ask yourself: What did they do right? And then over the years these conversations come up: "You, maybe you should have producer XYZ mix your album." - "Um, why?" - "He did Imagine Dragons, too." Yeah, wow, he mixed Imagine Dragons. Nothing else. I don't mean to speak ill of them at all, don't get me wrong. But the basis of your recipe is in the ingredients. If you come up with rotten potatoes, you can't save them by the way you prepare them. No mixer can save your song.
One reason why Imagine Dragons work so well is this. (Tobias stomps and claps the "We Will Rock You" rhythm.) Queen, if you will, but also ... [He sings "Halo" by Beyoncé and "Apologize" by OneRepublic.] Both were written by the same guy [Ryan Tedder]. His thing was always that drum foundation. And it's the same with "Radioactive, Radioactive" [sings]. That's the whole thing.
If you want to sound like Imagine Dragons, you have to write your songs that way. You don't need someone to put a tambourine in at one point, you have to write it directly like that. So when people like Greg Kurstin or Ryan Tedder come up and show that they can write for Sia on the one hand, but also work with the Foo Fighters, then you have to pay attention to what exactly you want from them. Because if you're not careful, they'll write you songs that sound exactly like that.
But to give a positive example, too: Aerosmith. They wrote first-class songs in the seventies and had another great career later on with songs written by others. And that worked really well. It's never black and white. I think we are also in a grey area, somewhere in the middle. Write your songs with others, sure, but be in the middle of it. Don't go and say, "Write me a Ghost song."

(Y/n) and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Week: Tuesday
Monday   Wednesday   Thursday (Part 1)   Thursday (Part 2)   Friday   Saturday   Sunday
Spotify Playlist (collaborative)
Warnings: anxiety, doctorâs offices, taking pain pills (not sure if I need to tag that, but just in case), stalkers, blackmail, swearing, non-consensual taking pics of nudes, slight body dysmorphia, self-loathing, toxic friends
Word count: 5,326
(A/N): another long chapter, my little wlw heart loved writing this chapter! Also holy shit I was not expecting the first part to blow up, thank you to everyone that read it! Gosh, itâs enough to make a grown woman cry :â)
You cracked open your crusty eyes to Wilbur poking his head into your room. â(Y/n), Dad wants you.â
You groaned rubbing at your eyes in an attempt to get the sleep out of them. âIâll be down in a sec.â Your voice was scratchy and thick with sleep.
He closed the door silently and you heard his socked feet thumping down the hallway. Your pain faded slightly into soreness, but your shoulders and upper back were slightly stiff. After you drug yourself out of bed, you shambled down the stairs to see your family at the table eating breakfast. Your stomach growled loudly, making you blush slightly in embarrassment.Â
Your eldest brother snorted. âHungry (y/n)?â
You slumped into your seat next to him slowly shoveling food into your mouth. âYou have no idea.â
âYou wouldnât be that hungry if you ate dinner when you got home like I told you to do last night, young lady. You better eat every single thing on that plate.â
There was no arguing with a stern Dadza, so you reluctantly complied. Meanwhile, Tommy and Tubbo were telling Wilbur about your match animatedly.Â
âAnd the ball was like fwoosh and she- the ball and-and-â
âAnd she hit it and Haley hit it to the other side! It was so cool!â
Wilbur merely smiled listening to them ramble about how badass you were last night. They made you feel genuinely happy that they admired your volleyball abilities; they were probably your biggest fans and that made your day most of the time. You remembered the first match they came to during your freshman year, they had run up to you right after the end-of-match whistle blew to spew about how good you were on the court. They met the team that day. Your team adored having them at your games, over the years they slowly replaced your schoolâs mascot. They played a huge part in morale boosts before and during matches.Â
He looked over to you, âI didnât know my little sister could be so badass.â
You felt your cheeks flare up. âItâs nothing I havenât done before. It really wasnât anything special.â
â(Y/n),â Philza pursed his lips, âyou did all that with a bruised back, Iâd consider that something special.â
âWait (y/n), youâre hurt?â Tommy and Tubbo looked at you with wide concerned eyes.
âYeah, but itâs not that bad. I can still move and stuff.â
Techno rolled his eyes, âitâs bad if youâre going to the doctor for it.â
âEh, it doesnât hurt as bad as it did yesterday, so Iâm not worried.âÂ
âYouâre deadass wincing everytime you move your arm,â WIlbur deadpanned, âit clearly still hurts.â
âWell yeah, I didnât say the pain went away completely. Fuckinâ dumbass.â
âLanguage,â Philza glared at you two, gesturing to the two fifth graders watching the exchange with interest.Â
You and Wilbur resumed eating and murmured out a defeated âsorry Dad.â You both glared at Techno when he huffed in amusement.Â
âIf you three keep bickering, youâre going to be late to school. Remember, you two have to drop off Tommy and Tubbo today cuz Iâm taking your sister to her appointment. Now go get ready, Iâll take care of your dishes.â
Your brothers took off up the stairs, each competing to get to the bathroom first. Occasionally, you would hear shouts and slapping noises. You felt glad you didnât have to deal with that today. Judging by Technoâs gruff voice laughing and an explosion of loud complaints from the rest, you assumed that he won today. âI swear, theyâre gonna put me in an early grave.â
âYou and me both Dad, you and me both.â
You went into the kitchen and pulled out a bottle of pain pills from the junk drawer. Various bottles of Motrin and Advil were scattered around the house because when you live with a rambunctious family like this one, people are bound to get hurt and headaches are common. Popping three into your mouth, you washed it down with a glass of water. The sound of the running water faucet and the slight splashing of water filled the silence of the room.Â
âHowâs your back? Does it feel any better?â
âKinda, today it just feels more sore than throbbing, my headache went away mostly, and my shoulder doesnât feel any worse, so thatâs better I guess.â
He shut off the water and reached for a towel to dry off his wet hands. He moved over to the freezer and grabbed a frozen package of peas that your family never ate. You all used it whenever one of you would get a bruise. He moved behind you and held it against your back without warning. Flinching forward from the unexpected temperature change, you winced with the wave of pain moving brought you.Â
âShit, sorry.â
âYouâre good. Just give me a little warning next time,â you chuckled. He gently placed it back on your back and you sighed from the slight relief that it brought you. You leaned into the peas and closed your eyes. âThat feels amazing.â
âI bet. That bruise was pretty bad yesterday, can I look at it again?â
You reluctantly left the sanctuary that was the medical grade frozen peas and leaned forward, moving your hair out of the way for him. âKnock yourself out.â
He made a hissing noise as soon as he moved your shirt out of the way. âDad, it probably looks worse than it feels.â
â...Have you seriously not looked at this yet? It looks pretty bad, hun.â
âWell, sorry I canât move to look at my back without being in pain. Iâll try harder next time.â You snarked him.
âHey, watch the attitude. Here, Iâll take a picture so you can see how bad it is.â
You heard the rustling of fabric as he fished his phone out of his pocket and the obnoxiously loud click of his camera app. You turned around to look at the damage. You squinted at his bright phone screen. Your entire back was swollen in some areas and was covered in ugly reds, blues, blacks, and purples. You made a disgusted noise in the back of your throat and cringed away from the screen. You always got nauseous seeing injuries.
âYikes.â
âYikes isnât the only word I would use, itâs bad (y/n).â
âIt looks worse than it feels, I promise. Iâm gonna go get ready so weâre not late to my appointment. It sounds like the boys are finally done with the bathroom.â
You hobbled up the stairs slowly and made your way to the bathroom. The door was wide open ready for you to use. Turning on the light, you closed the door in a hurry so that your brothers wouldnât try to get in again to hog the bathroom like they usually did. You frowned at your appearance. Your hair was sticking up in every direction and you had dark eye bags around your dull looking eyes. A few pimples dotted your skin like constellations in the night sky, but much uglier and more out of place. Turning your body, you scanned your figure. Your eyes watered as you realized that you had gained some weight. Adrian, Sammy, and Annie were right, you looked like garbage all the time.
You ripped your eyes away from yourself in the mirror with disgust etched deep into your features. You were disgusting through and through. Ripping your brush through your hair, you winced at the pain emanating from the back of your head. You deserve the pain for letting yourself go. Once you were slightly more satisfied with your appearance, you stepped out of the bathroom and quickly changed into the clothes you would wear today. You decided on a hoodie and a pair of tights. You didnât feel like dressing yourself up.Â
You once again walked down the stairs and slipped on your shoes to meet your dad in his car. You idly scrolled through your phone while you waited for him, looking at your notifications for the first time that day. You had ten texts from the group chat that you were in with Adrian, Annie, and Sammy.
Sammy <3

Adrian <3
Byeeee (y/n), ur the best!
(Y/n)
: ) <3
You put your phone down as your dad started up the car and pulled out of the driveway. The drive was quiet as you stared out the window and thought about how much work you now had to do. On top of your own classes, you had two more to write and a presentation to make in a class you hadnât taken since the first semester in your sophomore year. The research papers had to be at least four full pages long with a minimum of ten sources each due on Friday and you had no idea how big Sammyâs US history presentation has to be or what itâs even about. But that was fine, youâd do anything for your friends.Â
âSo, who were you texting? Your boyfriend?â He asked jokingly.
âOh, just Adrian, Sammy, and Annie. I donât have a boyfriend Dad,â because you were a closeted lesbian, but you wouldnât tell him that anytime soon. âYou know that.â
âI know,â he chuckled, âitâs been a while since Iâve seen them. How have they been?â
âTheyâre good. Adrian got a job at the diner, heâs a host. Sammy and Annie have been focusing more on raising their grades.â
âGood for them! You should invite them over for dinner sometime.â
âI was actually thinking that I could maybe go hang out with them on Halloween...?â
â(Y/n), the family was going to take Tommy and Tubbo trick-or-treating.â
âI know, but thereâs always next year. Plus, we havenât been able to hang out in so long! Weâre always free at different times.â
âI donât know (y/n), what if they donât want to trick-or-treat next year? What were you planning on doing with them?â
âWe were just gonna hang out at Annieâs house and watch some horror movies,â you lied. He would never let you go if he knew you were going to a party. Especially one where alcohol would be involved and hormonal teenage boys ran rampant actively scouting for an easy lay.
â...Iâll think about it.â The car pulled into the doctor officeâs parking lot.
âThank you Dad! Itâs been a while since weâve all hung out together.â
He chuckled as you both walked into the lobby, checked in, and waited for your name to be called. About ten minutes later, you were summoned by a nurse so you went into the back leaving your dad to wait in the lobby. The nurse recorded your height and weight (much to your dismay, you gained four pounds) and asked you the standard questions about your injury and uncomfortable questions about your overall health. The clacking of her acrylic nails on the plastic keyboard filled the awkward silence.
Once that was done, she left and you had to wait a little bit for the doctor. After slipping into the backless gown the nurse left, you mindlessly scrolled on your phone. Jumping when someone knocked on the door, you looked up to see your familyâs doctor smiling at you.
âHello (y/n), how are we feeling today?â
âIâm alright.â
âI hear that you had quite the fall onto some concrete, is that true?â
âYes, I landed on my back and the back of my head.â
She reached over and squirted hand sanitizer onto her hands, rubbing it in and looking back at you. âCan you please lay on your stomach so I can take a look at your back?â
You nodded, shifting on the uncomfortable paper covered cushioned table onto your stomach. You felt her cold hands gently graze your bruises before she pulled out her stethoscope. âCan you take a good deep breath in for me?â
You complied and she instructed you to let it out. Doing this multiple times along your back, she put her stethoscope away and continued prodding at your exposed back.Â
âThereâs definitely some swelling in multiple areas⊠It doesnât feel or sound like you cracked or broke any ribs, which is excellent⊠Do you have any pain deep in your shoulder when you move it?â
âYes, I landed on it wrong last night at my volleyball match.â
âHow would you describe your pain? Stabbing, sore, throbbingâŠâ
âMore sore, but a little stabbing pain when I move my arm.â
She moved her fingers to examine your shoulder. âIt doesnât sound like a sprain or fracture, can you move it up and down for me?â
You moved your arm up and down, front and back, and side to side. âYou still have a full range of movement, thatâs good. Can I have you sit back up again?â
You sat back up and she started testing you for a concussion. After passing her tests, you were cleared of having a concussion. âAlright (y/n), it appears that you only strained your deltoid and teres muscles and you have severe bruising along your back. Make sure you ice your back and, if you have one, wear a shoulder compression sleeve. Anti-inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen will help with the swelling. Other than that, you have a clean bill of health! You can still participate in volleyball practices, but you need to take it easy. Donât do anything that will strain the muscles any further.â
âThank you Dr. Samson,â you smiled at her.Â
âYouâre welcome. Iâll leave you to change back into your clothes and youâre free to go! You may leave the gown on the table.â
She left the room and you redressed yourself. Walking out to the lobby, Philzaâs head perked up when he heard the door opening. He stood up and walked over to you with a slightly worried face. You both walked back out to the car.
âSo?â
âDr. Samson said that I donât have a concussion, sprains or broken bones. She told me that I just strained my shoulder muscles and I need to keep ice on my back.â
He visibly slumped in relief. âThank god. Whatâd she say about volleyball?â
âShe said that I could keep playing, but I have to take it easy.â
âGood, wouldnât want you missing finals on Thursday. Do you know if the team youâre playing is any good?â
âDad, of course theyâre good, weâre the top two teams in the area.â
âI bet their setter is nowhere near as good as you are and I bet the setter and spiker arenât as synced as you and Haley are. You two make a good pair.âÂ
âYeah we do, donât we?â You looked out the window and smiled a little and felt your ears turn red. The very mention of Haleyâs name was enough to make you feel like you were on cloud nine. The car fell silent again as you neared your high school.Â
In your AP world history class, the class was looking at the test you had taken yesterday. Surprisingly, you got a 74% on the multiple choice part and a 50% on your essay portion, so that landed you with a just below passing grade. You thought you completely flunked that test yesterday, so that was a pleasant surprise. It took a good portion out of your overall grade in the class, lowering it from a comfortable A- to a slightly alarming B. You supposed it couldâve been a lot worse. Besides reviewing your tests, the class didnât do much except starting the reading for the next chapter.
Your psychology online class went like it usually did, however your phone blew up with texts about midway through the block. Glancing down, you saw that it was Haley. Shouldnât she be in class?
Hales : )
(Y/n) meet me in the locker room right after school
I need to talk to you before practice starts
Itâs an emergency
(Y/n)
Whatâs going on?
Hales : )
Iâll explain after school.
Canât talk about it over text
(Y/n)
Alright, see ya then ig
You felt your gut twinge. Somethingâs wrong, but you didnât know what. You were worried about Haley, usually she was really bubbly. Youâve never seen the senior act so strange before. You could only wait the block out until the bell would release you from the confines of the library and into the locker room. After sending a quick text to your brothers that you were going to stay after school for your practice, you stared blankly at your laptopâs clock as you counted down the minutes left in the class period. Ten minutes. Eight minutes. Four minutes. Two minutes. Thirty seconds-
You shot up from your seat as the bell rang. Pushing past some groups of freshmen that congregated in the hallways, you made a beeline for the locker room. In the locker room, you found Haley sitting on the metal bench on the opposite end of the locker room with her back facing the last row of lockers and facing the brick wall. She was clenching her phone in her hand with an iron grip. You hurried to sit next to her.
âHales, whatâs going on? Talk to me.â
âItâs bad (y/n). Like, really bad.â
âWhatâs bad? Youâre worrying me.â
Wordlessly, she unlocked her phone and handed it to you. On the screen was something that you werenât expecting to see. You scrolled through the contents and felt your stomach drop with each scroll; someone took pictures of you and Haley throughout the match last night. Every picture was a violation to yours and Haleyâs dignities, they had gotten zoomed in pictures of your boobs and asses. Deeper, there were even pictures taken of you changing into your volleyball uniform through your open window. You were only in your underwear. Haley had a similar picture that you scrolled past as fast as you could. Scrolling to the bottom of the text message thread, the person that sent Haley the pictures added a caption to the last picture. It was a picture of you and Haley together celebrating your match, her arm slung around your shoulder with your mouth open mid-laugh.
Unknown
Iâm sending these out to the entire school unless you stop hanging around her.
If you tell anyone, the pics will be printed off and put in every single locker and bathroom the school has.
Youâll be the sluts of Klinkver High.Â
Cut all ties now. You have two days.Â
Do not try me.
âJesus christ Haley. Who the fuck would do this? This is sick.â
She took her phone back and locked it without looking at the screen. âI donât know (y/n). I wanted to tell you not to openly talk to me for a few days. We donât know who took these, we donât know what theyâre capable of. I donât wanna risk angering them.â
âWe can find them! If we look close enough, we might find a few clues where they were sitting. Do you remember seeing anything suspicious last night?â
â(Y/n), our best option is to leave it. We just canât talk in person anymore; we can still text each other.â
âHales, how are we gonna not talk? Iâm your setter.â
She ran a hand through her thick black hair. âI donât know (y/n). Just-just donât talk to me anymore, I donât want your pictures leaked.â
âI donât care about my pictures. My nameâs been drug through so much shit this past year that it wonât affect me. I donât want your stuff leaked.â
She gave a watery laugh, âyou care too much, I love that about youâŠâ Glistening eyes turned to look deep into your own. âIâm so scared (y/n), I donât know what to do.â
You pulled her into a hug, wincing slightly when she squeezed her arms around your upper back. She buried her face into your shoulder and started shaking with muffled sobs. âHaley, I promise Iâll catch whatever sick bastard is doing this to you. You donât deserve this.â
She said nothing as you rested your chin on the top of her head and started to rock her back and forth slowly. You two stayed like that even after her sobbing resided, finding comfort in each otherâs presence. Glancing at the clock, you realized that you two have been in the locker room for an hour. Practice was set to start in fifteen minutes, people were going to start coming into the locker room soon.Â
You reluctantly pulled away from the hug and looked Haley in her bloodshot eyes, âIâm not going to let those pictures of you get leaked. I swear on my-â
The door to the locker room swung open and loud laughter echoed throughout the room. Haley pushed you away and speed walked off to a bathroom stall, slamming the door shut behind her.Â
âDamn (y/n), whatâd you do? Sheâs pissed.âÂ
âItâs none of your business, Zara.âÂ
âOh, so itâs a loverâs quarrel then~â She cackled, her hair bouncing slightly with each heave of her shoulders.Â
âFor the love of⊠Haley and I arenât dating, weâre both straight.â Sheâs straight.
âMmhm.â She brushed past you to go to her locker. You followed her, your locker was in the grouping next to hers. You shared the area with Haley. You changed as fast as you could so that Haley would have time to change before practice starts. Speed walking into the gym, Zara was hot on your trail wearing a shit eating grin.
âWhy are you in such a rush? Giving your girlfriend the silent treatment?â
âZara. We arenât dating. For the last time, weâre both heterosexual, not homosexual!â You wildly gestured with your hands to emphasize your point, your voice being amplified by the vast gym. Coach Williams gave you a confused look from across the gym.Â
âYou just keep telling yourself that.â
âIâm serious.â
âHi serious,â a soft voice replied from behind you, âIâm Jazzy.â
You groaned at the pun at the same time Zara started cackling, giving the short libero a high five. âNice!â
âThat was so bad, Jaz.â You couldnât help the smile that found its way onto your face.
Zara poked your cheek with a wide grin. âCâmon, youâre smiling!â
âI am and I hate it.â
Your bickering continued with Jazzy watching you two with a content smile. The remaining members of the team (Haley, Marlene, and Zuri) filed into the gym right as Coach Williams blew her whistle.Â
Practice went by slowly without Haley talking to you. Sure, you had the rest of the team, but it didnât feel the same with you guys ignoring each other. If the team or Coach Williams noticed you two not talking to each other, they didnât say anything. By time practice was over, you all went to the locker room to change. After slipping into your fuzzy pajama pants, you sat on the bench and texted Wilbur to come pick you up. He was supposed to pick you up after practice today because he and Techno took the car home after school. Five minutes passed and he still didnât reply. He probably wonât see the text until you got home from walking.
You sighed, resting your chin in your palm as you leaned forward. One by one, the girls left the locker room until it was only you and Haley left.Â
âDo you need a ride (y/n)?â She asked gently.
âBut what if the person sees us together? I can just walk home, itâs not really a big deal.â
She rolled her eyes at you. âIt is a big deal. Itâs cold and dark out. You could get kidnapped or something. You donât even have a coat with you. Iâm giving you a ride whether you like it or not.â
You playfully rolled your eyes at her and stood up to walk next to her, âokay, mom.â
âDonât give me that attitude young lady.â
âYou canât tell me what to do, youâre not my real mom!â
She gasped and lightly smacked the back of your shoulder, âI married your- are you alright? Shit, I didnât hurt you did I?â
âNo, youâre good. Itâs just this damned bruise.â
She moved her hands and frantically turned you around to pull the neck of your shirt down. You two stood in front of the schoolâs main entrance with the nauseatingly bright fluorescent light bouncing off the reflective surface of the tiles. The orange tinted street lights lit up the sidewalk outside.
â(Y/n)-â
âI know what youâre gonna say.â
She scoffed, âoh really? What am I gonna say then, o wise one?â
You turned around to face her, ââoh, this is bad, yadda yadda yadda.â Everyoneâs been saying that about it. Honestly it looks worse than it feels. Tis but a scratch, mâlady.â
She snorted and covered her mouth, ânever call me âmâladyâ ever again.â
You started to walk to her car in the empty parking lot. âOr what? Whatâre ya gonna do?â
âI swear to god, (y/n), Iâm gonna leave you here.â
âDo it, pussy. Bet you wonât.â
âYou really wanna bet?â
You grinned at her, âhell yeah.â
She broke off into a mad dash to her car, laughing freely into the night sky. You chased after her trying not to move your arms much, your laugh mixing with hers like a perfect symphony composed of the worldâs best musicians. The sound of your rubber soles slapping the pavement resonated throughout the parking lot as you quickly gained on her. Reaching out to grab her shirt, she smirked at you and sharply turned to the right into the grass.
You grinned as her pace slowed down slightly. Youâd be able to catch her at this pace. You pushed your legs to move faster as she looked at you from over her shoulder and shrieked in surprise at how close you were to her. You cackled at her reaction, reaching out once again, you grabbed her hand. She was stopped dead in her tracks as your shoulder was yanked with the sudden momentum, making you hiss in slight pain. Despite that, you didnât let go of her soft hand.Â
You both stood there under the moonlight and the soft orange street lamps trying to catch your breath. The slightly damp blades of grass tickled your ankle as you shifted to face her better. Through gasping breaths and a dopey grin, you said âyou⊠lost, pussy.â
She let out a breathy laugh as she pulled you to her car. âShuddup.â
âMake me~â
She opened the passenger side door for you and got into the driver's seat. Her car smelled like vanilla and citrus. âOh, you will later when I make you do more sets in weight lifting tomorrow, hurt shoulder be damned.â
She turned on the ignition and the car revved to life, soft indie pop wafted from the speakers. She backed out of the parking space and sped off to the main road. âYou wouldnâtâŠâ
âIâm your captain, (y/n). I can make you do whatever I want.â You felt your cheeks heat up a tad. You were happy that she couldnât see you.
âNaw, youâre too much of a softie for that. Admit it, Iâve got you wrapped around my little finger.â
She chuckled as she pulled into your driveway and put the car in park. â...Alright, maybe you do. Just a bit.â
She turned to look at you. She looked stunning with the shadows accentuating the contours of her face perfectly. You found yourself glancing at her lips and leaning slightly towards you. To your surprise, she started leaning into you as well. Before your lips could finally mesh together, she pulled back with a sigh and ran her hand through her hair. You felt a rush of disappointment and fear course through your veins. She didnât like you like that, you shouldâve known better. You were so stupid. So, so stu-
âI canât (y/n). I want to kiss you so bad, but we canât. Not yet at least. Not until we find the pervert that took those pictures of us.â
You sighed, âright.â
The car was filled with awkward silence. Not even the soft music streaming from the speakers could alleviate the awkwardness. God, you really screwed up your friendship, didnât you? Sammy, Adrian, and Annie were right; you messed up everything you touched.
You coughed, âI think Iâm gonnaâŠâ
âYeahâŠâ
You grabbed your bag and walked into your house, the smell of chicken slapping you in the face instantly. Without checking in with your dad, you hurried up the stairs, desperate for the warm comfort of your bed. That, and if you wanted to get Sammyâs presentation and Adrianâs, Annieâs, and your research papers done by Friday, you had to start as soon as you could. You were going to skip dinner for tonight, youâd just grab more breakfast tomorrow morning.Â
You plopped on your bed and got started on your research paper. Luckily, you already had all of the sources you were planning on using and the rough outline of each body paragraph, so writing the actual paper wasnât going to take long. You worked until you heard a knock at your door.Â
â(Y/n),â Technoâs monotone voice called out, âdinnerâs ready.â
âTell Dad Iâm not hungry. Practiceâs got me beat, Iâm going to bed soon.â
He grunted, âyou know heâs not gonna like that right?â
You felt frustration start to swim circles around your chest, âTechno, just tell him that Iâm not hungry right now. Please.â
âDamn, you donât need to be like that. Iâll tell him.â
You heard his stomping footsteps thumping down the hall. Shit, you pissed him off. You were a terrible person, he was just trying to get you to eat something, Pushing back the tears that threatened to spill from your eyes, you forced the panic that was starting to swirl around your body in laps deep into your being. You didnât have time to deal with your failures and stupid emotions, you had to get this done. You didnât have time to think about Haleyâs warm breath ghosting across your lips. You didnât have time to think about how she probably regretted almost kissing you. You didnât have time to fall into an anxiety spiral, you needed to focus if you wanted Adrian, Annie, and Sammy to forgive you. You ruined yours and Haleyâs friendship and did the same to yours and Technoâs. They were the only ones you had left. You needed to be a better friend.

maniac :: cc!tommy x reader
angst (?) , platonic (?) , gender neutral ! ib: conan grayâs maniac
this is satire & note that i write the reader to be a few months younger than tommy (besides that, i think it is fully inclusive !)
synopsis : you put all your hard work towards a useless crush. with no expectation for reciprocated feelings in the first place, it still all ends in a bittersweet slap to reality.
you grew up with minecraft and it was an understatement to say it was part of your childhood
even years later, you still maintained interested in the game
it wasnât just a simple video game, the community inspired you to do many things
you aspired to be like the creators you watched at a young age like sky, dantdm, cupquake, stampy, and many more
making people happy and entertained was a dream
and when minecraft slowly began trending again in 2019, you started making your own content whenever you felt like it out of fun
you never got much views but it was an enjoyable experience nonetheless
but it wasnât until the first minecraft monday you decided to push a bit more with your hobbies and worked hard to make it somewhere
however balancing your passions with school wasnât the easiest
given, you were still only around 15 and your content wasnât even that good
with not much of a goal or plan with your youtube channel, you fell out of interest eventually
you loved minecraft but you always a rocky relationship with it; getting back into it for a few months then pretending it never really existed for another few
besides the occasional videos you watched in your pass time, you didnât stay that updated
then lockdown happened
it changed everything and even got you regressing back to old interests
soon enough you were back to minecraft
there was so much to catch up on
hermitcraft season 7 just started, there was minecraft championships, and smp earth and smp live, and so much more to look forward to watching
you were a bit late on both of the smps but your interest peaked specially towards smp earth and it didnât stop you from watching the past videos
you first gravitated towards a certain youtuberâs videos first since you remember stumbling onto his videos before from your recommended page; wilbur soot
besides recognizing him from his you laugh you lose series and making parody-type of songs, you didnât know much
however with a few clicks, you had binge watched his smp earth series effortlessly
you found yourself falling down the endless hole, finding more creators to watch through wilbur
one in particular caught your eye in an interesting way
tommyinnit
my god, how can someone be so annoying and pushy in these videos? like shut up already
and to find out he was barely months older than you frustrated you
you just wanted to be better in some way
if someone like him could be popular, why canât you? yelling at others and causing problems didnât seem that hard
and so you went back to working hard on your previously failed youtube channel but this time with a goal; be better than tommyinnit
it was a weird aspiration in your head but it worked
he was your age and successful, why need a better motivator?
tommy wasnât the sole reason why you strive to make content since you truly did want to create videos to entertain people like the youtubers you originally grew up watching
and with the amount of free time you had, you thoroughly analyzed his content; what was the most popular, how he streamed, edited his videos, everything
you just completely studied the algorithm in general
along the way, tommyâs personality grew on you
tommy was undoubtedly a very loud and energetic person but you became fond of his ambitions
you understood why he was popular at such a young age; he was a natural entertainer
your spite towards the boy turned into a hope
a hope to be at par with him someday and even be mutuals
and it was like your dreams were suddenly manifested into existence
you gained a large following in the early months of lockdown and even was recognized to be apart of minecraft championships
it felt like yesterday that you were just watching your favorite youtubers livestream the same competition
and now you were situation in a team to play yourself for the first time instead of being a viewer for once
not to mention, with tommyinnit as a teammate
how did you manage to get so lucky?
under the excitement, you felt beyond never nervous waiting in the empty discord call for your team to join you to practice the mini-games
in the middle of gathering your thoughts together, you heard a sound from discord signaling someone joined the call
âuh, hello?â
you heard the familiar british accent you spent hours listening to from countless streams and videos
âh-hi! iâm y/n, how are you?â
you hoped tommy couldnât hear the strain in your voice due to fighting your nerves, but you quietly celebrated that you didnât freeze up altogether
âoh iâm good, thank you. and iâm tommy by the way, this is the first time weâre speaking, yeah?â
âyep! itâs nice to meet youâ
âyeah, iâve seen your name around the timeline a few times, you seem coolâ
oh my god what?
âthanks! um i actually really enjoy your content not gonna lieâ
âoh wow, good shit!â
and the conversation smoothly went on, bouncing back and forth between you two before your other two teammates joined the call
once everyone was situated, you decided to start streaming since it was your first mcc and you wanted a vod of you practicing to look at later on as a memory
your chat immediately noticed how much you were enjoying yourself, especially after all the short stories of talking about who inspired you in the past
the smile plastered on your face never left
after stream and your other teammates went offline, it was you and tommy left in the call once together again
âit was nice talking to you tommy! and the practice was really fun, i cant wait for the actual competition!â
âyeah definitely, weâll for sure place highâ
âhopefully. itâs my first time and i hope i donât cost us the dubâ
ânah, you think so? i mean rt and plumbella are also our team mates so you know, itâs all for fun in the endâ
you knew tommy was implying the teamwork wasnât going to be the best compared to the other teams but at least in the end youâve both made a new friend
âyeah youâre right!â
âanyway itâs getting late imma hop offâ
âokay tommy, talk to you soon?â
âyep!â
âalright byeeâ
âbye!â
the moment he left the call, you felt a sense of relief before a small wave of sadness took over
you wanted to continue talking to tommy but you knew you had other responsibilities to tend to
for the rest of the day, you couldnât stop thinking of the call and mcc practice
the funny jokes, singing random songs, screaming for no reason, everything
it even kept you awake until the early morning
you buried your head in a pillow and screamed into it after realization hit
y/n no
no no no no no no no
you tried to recall anything that remotely related your other teammates which you remembered that didnât include tommy
even if it was a few hours ago, you couldnât pin point something specific
no
i must just be forgetful, right?
what the hell did rt and plumbella even say that whole call?
you vividly remembered everything with tommy and it was clear to you why
surely not
with putting a hand on your chest above your heart, you confirmed that you couldnât lie to yourself based on the rapid speed
you liked tommy for a good while but it hadnât clicked to you until now
eventually you fell asleep due to exhaustion but thatâs to say you didnât do so without imagining spending more time with tommy
ever since that day, time went by in a flash
your team didnât do the best in mcc but it had been a while since then to have that as a concern
sadly you and tommy didnât talk as often as you hoped but that didnât make you have less feelings for him
on some days you felt bad since you thought you didnât know enough about him to even be allowed to crush on him
it was a bit unprofessional but you were nearly 16, itâs normal to have these little crushes right?
eventually time came to rescue when tommy asked you if you wanted to accompany him in the dream smp
undoubtedly, you said yes
and for the few months during summer, it was where you two became even closer than before
however, once both of you two had to go back and attend school, it was harder to catch up with each other
even on calls together off stream, the occasional snapchat notification going off irked you in a way you couldnât explain
only winter break was the small pause on your disappointment
but even then, it was a slow but steady hill of repressed sadness and frustration until early spring of the following year
you had hoped 2021 would be better than last year but after scrolling through twitter one day and seeing stans making rumors about how tommy had a crush on one of his classmates gave you the same pain you felt when school started last fall
you dreaded to look over at tommyâs most recent story time stream vod where all the gossip arose from; it was him stumbling over his words with the mention of a girl during a certain part
jealousy wasnât the right word to describe the way you felt
you would never go out of your way to make tommy reciprocate the feelings you had for him
and if he liked someone else the way you saw him, you wouldnât mind
having a crush is ecstatic, and if he has someone like that too, you should be happy
right?
you tried
what finally broke you was seeing a tiktok a few weeks later of tommy in college with eryn and another girl talking
you didnât know how she looked like or anything but you wanted to sob
good for him
she didnât even say much in the video and you dont know enough about tommyâs personal life to jump to conclusions like this
you knew you were acting irrational and you couldnât be upset at tommy for something he couldnât control
if anything, you never directly showed interest in him
you didnât want to in the first place
it was a bad idea from the start
you looked back at the past year and all your intentions
what kind of sick fanfiction did you think you were living?
becoming a content creator, hoping to blow up, just to talk to a big youtuber you had a crush on?
oh my god
y/n what is wrong with you?
listen to yourself, y/n
you need to get some help
whether tommy was dating or even just had interest someone was none of your business
you had to move on no matter what it was and be good and supportive friend
it was dreadful to get over a stupid crush like this but after so much work you put in, you gave some sympathy for yourself
in a friend perspective, you were happy with whatever tommy did and was satisfied your friendship together, but you hadnât realized how much you gambled from the beginning
and just for a crush?
you couldnât comprehend how far you gone because you fancied someone
it wasnât like anyone could get famous and become a popular content creator either
and now with you being on the dream smp along with a successful youtube channel at 16? you were grateful something pushed you enough to work this hard
but youâd never forget the fact everything that lead up to this point was a crush on no other than tommyinnit which first spurred from complete spite
âwhoâs the one better off now?â your thoughts mocked you from the complete irony
sigh
y/n, you maniac

Regulus' eyes opened immediately at the mention of his brother. With furrowed eyebrows he stared at you deeply âWhat?â he asked cautiously, his mind still registering your question.
You moved to sit closer to him, knees touching as you looked for his eyes âSirius,â you repeated âCan you tell me about him?â
He stayed in silence for what felt like hours, his eyes hardened as you saw him put his walls up again. It didnât come as a surprise to you that he closed himself at your question but now you wondered how sensitive the subject was for him to be looking at you the way he looked at everyone else.
âWhy do you want to know?â he asked with pursed lips. He crossed his arms over his chest, his gaze so hard over you that it forced you to look away from him and down to your lap.
âI- well, I know you are close to him but you barely talk about him. Actually, I think Iâve never seen you talk to him.â you explained, hoping he couldnât read you and see that it was more than just mere curiosity.
âWeâre not close.â he said sharply, his voice bitter.
âOh⊠okay.â you nodded, playing with the grass underneath you âI just assumed you were.â you said with a smile, trying to get him to relax as you changed the subject âWhat do you want to do over the weekend?â your arm moved to nudge his side, a playful smile on your face.
âWhat do you want to do?â he asked back, the ghost of a smile on his lips.
Your heart broke as you stared at him, his eyes void as he tried and failed to put on a smile for you, you knew you had killed his mood for the time being and you felt terrible, your own smile falling as you shrugged your shoulders âI donât know.â you mumbled âI always choose, I thought youâd have something you want to do.â
Regulus didnât move and you thought he might be just thinking. With your head low, you missed the way his eyes stared down at you, watching the way you thoughtlessly played with your hands as you waited for his answer. He knew you better than you would like to admit, you were never one to keep your head low. You felt bad for asking him about Sirius, retreating to the world inside your head so you would do no more harm. And he felt the knot in his stomach tightening for how he reacted, how his reaction affected you; but still he couldnât help it, it was second nature for him to put his guard up at the mention of his brother. He wanted to tell you to never ask about Sirius again, that no matter what you heard he wouldnât talk about it but he could see you were already overthinking everything you had done since the question crossed your mind. He said nothing and just appreciated the fact that you stayed with him and that, thatâs what made you different from everyone else. Even if you didnât understand why he reacted the way he did, even if you didnât know what had happened between him and Sirius, you didnât push it and you stayed when you could have easily walked away like he had seen you do with others when they stepped out of line. You stayed with him, and even if he wanted nothing more than to get up and leave, he stayed there with you. You stayed for each other.
âIâm fine with anything you want to do.â he told you after minutes of silence.
Your head rose up in surprise âReally?â you asked with a small smile.
He nodded, his face relaxed âReally.â he said, turning on his side as he started to get on his feet, your eyes following his movements closely âI have to go and get something from my dorm. Wait for me here?â he said.
You nodded and sat back as he started to walk away, your eyes suddenly falling on the small group of people a few meters from you, all of them laughing and running around, nothing out of the ordinary but you stared too long. They must have felt your gaze on them, the one wearing glasses and a permanent smirk turning to the one at his side, patting him in the shoulder as he motioned his head towards you.
You jumped to your feet, running the small distance to the castle âReg!â you yelled, grabbing the ends of your scarf as it flew over your face. He stopped at the sudden sound on your voice, looking over your shoulder in confusion before his eyes settled on you.
âWhat 's wrong?â he asked, his hand reaching for yours in an instant as he linked his arm with yours.
You smiled, shaking your head âCan I go with you?â you asked out of breath âI donât really fancy staying there all alone.â you told him.
He looked back to where you sat not a minute ago, looking for any sign you were lying but saw none. âOf course.â he said, his eyes lingering in the distance before he shook his head, resuming his walk with you at his side.
You looked back once more, seeing the place completely empty but you knew it meant nothing. You had seen Sirius and he had seen you leave.
*******
The weekend was spent doing more things that you or Regulus could actually remember. Even if in all honesty, you two remembered every single detail.
You had forced the both of you to get up early to get breakfast before anyone else, or more like forced Regulus to get you up early because between the two of you, he was both the early bird and the night owl, while you were the sleepy bear.
It was one of your missions to be ghosts during the weekend, to never be seen by anyone else as if you didnât exist in the perspective of others; and if they did manage to get a glimpse of the two of you, that was all it was, a glimpse of something they would never see again until monday morning. Two entire days for you and him to just exist and bond over simple things and activities, it was the only days he would stay out late with you and you took full advantage of that.
âWhat are we doing in the kitchens?â he asked as you pulled his hand to keep him walking.
âWhat do you think?â you asked with a laugh âWhat do you use kitchens for?â you let go of his hand, starting to rummage over all the things there as he just stared at you.
âCookingâŠâ he said wearily, his eyes snapping at you as you yelled in triumph.
âAnd baking!â you beamed, holding the cookie trays over your head âWell, câmon.â you called him, motioning for him to get close. With a chuckle you turned to face him, ravishing in the completely confused look he had on his face, of course he had never done any baking. âI am sharing my Grandmother's red velvet cookies recipe with you.â you said, taking his hands and rolling his sleeves up for him âIt is my pleasure to tell you that you are the only one I would share this recipe with.â
He smiled as you worked on his sleeves, watching you carefully as he gave you his other arm âIâm honored.â he said, meeting your eyes full with excitement.
You clapped your hands before you as you started to move around the kitchen, starting to measure the ingredients as you never ceased to talk, giving instructions and showing him how to get all the things ready. A task that should have been done in an hour took you both at least two; in between laughs, chatting and the small war that got you both covered in flour you emerged from the kitchens once the moon was already shining up in the night sky.
You had baked enough cookies for the week ahead of you, carrying them with you to every class and place you had to go. It was easy to sneak a small piece of it to Regulus or to eat one yourself since you spent the entirety of your time together and shared most of your classes, with the exception of your optative classes. Whilst you and Regulus took a great curiosity for Ancient Runes, you had also opted for studying divination as it woke something in you, how you could interpret different signs to know the future. It was so fun and interesting you couldnât let the opportunity pass. Regulus thought it was ridiculous to think you could know the future by reading tea leaves but you paid him no mind.
On the days you had Divination, you found yourself wandering the halls alone, a weird sight for anyone who had been paying attention to yours and Regulusâ friendship flourishing. You walked the long hallways to get to the North Tower, a piece of cookie in hand as you took small bites of it, looking everywhere but where you were headed.
âWoah!â exclaimed a voice next to you as they barely stopped on their tracks âWe really need to stop meeting like this.â Sirius smiled, looking at you with a smirk.
The corner of your mouth lifted for a fraction of second, your eyes already looking for an escape to not avail âHello.â you mustered, starting to walk around him only for him to match your steps.
âThat 's it?â he asked, baffled âHello?â he repeated, trying and failing to imitate your voice.
Taking a hesitant look at him you tried to keep looking forward. âThatâs still the right term, isnât?â you said, never stopping to acknowledge him again, not giving him the chance to speak up.
You walked awkwardly next to him until you reached the beginning of the stairs to the Divination classroom, the space narrowed so only one person could fit comfortably, or two people walking very close together. You closed your eyes shut, you were not ready for this.
âCan I help you with something?â you snapped, turning to stare at him as you climbed on the first step of the stairs, looking directly into his eyes. You, of course, took him off guard with the sudden burst of emotion, his mouth opening with no chance to speak âYou keep showing up everywhere I am, you walked next to me all the way here when you certainly donât take divination so tell me, is there something I can help you with?â you spat the words, not even stopping to think them before they were out of your mouth. âIs it- is it because I didnât tell you my name? Because if you really wanted to know, itâs Y/N. Youâre Sirius. Nice to meet you. Goodbye.â you said, turning on your heel and walking up the stairs.
Sirius stopped momentarily to appreciate the beauty of your name, hearing the melody repeating inside his head and how much it fitted you. Y/N, he thought, shaking his head and snapping out of the trance you put him in before he jumped the steps to catch up with you âLook, Iâm sorry if I made you uncomfortable.â he said loudly, trying to keep up with your speed âI just want to know you, okay?â
You scrunch your nose in confusion but never stopped, letting his words flow as he said them.
âI think youâre really interesting and, in all honesty, really beautiful.â he said, making you hide your face from him as a flush appeared over your cheeks, but his next words erased all trace of the previous feelings he provoked on you, replacing the fluttery feeling in your stomach with a knot âIâve seen you with Regulus and heard a lot about..â
âSo thatâs what this is all about?â you cut him mid sentence, clenching your hands in fists as you turned to him once more âIf you want to know about Regulus you can find someone else or ask him yourself.â you said with a huff, crossing your arms as you glared at him, hating the way your heart started to beat harder inside your chest.
Sirius shook his head and climbed the few steps separating you, still leaving a considerable space in between âNo, thatâs no it.â he explained âYouâre just⊠Iâve already told you, alright? I would like to get to know you.â
Saying you were confused was an understatement, the complete mess of thoughts running inside your head too loud to even form a coherent phrase. You wanted to be sure he was just using you, that he only wanted to mess with Regulus and make him mad, but the glint in his eyes told you nothing but the contrary to that exact thought. What if he was true to his word and just wanted to know you?
You were certain the hurricane of emotions was showing on your face, your eyes glued to his as he took a hesitant step towards you and, when you didnât back away a smile appeared on his lips, walking in front of you he placed his hand over yours âY/N.â he whispered.
He sounded just like him.
âIâm sorry.â you muttered, slowly moving your hand away from his grasp âI donât know what happened between you and Regulus and itâs really not my place to ask, I would really hate to get involved.â And pick sides you thought, taking a step back.
You wanted to believe he meant well and just wanted to get close to you but you couldnât risk getting Regulus hurt. If the sole mention of his brotherâs name put his walls up what would happen if he found out his best friend, the only person he let his guard down with and the only one he trusted, was friends with the brother that hurt him so much. You couldn't risk hurting Regulus, not you.
âHeâs the only one I have.â you said slowly with a small yet sad smile on your face, and with that you turned.
And again, Sirius let you walk away.

i wish you all the happiness in the world
| pairing: oikawa tooru x short female! reader | summary: In which you loved each other for all this time but timing was never on your side | genre: angst, fluff, suggestive, kinda smut but not really | warnings: MANGA SPOILERS, cursing, alcohol, NOT EDITED âcause iâm tired | word count: 6964 words | a/n: hi hi! this is my first haikyuu ff. hope you like it! ăŸ(ïŒ ^â^ïŒ )ă i have to say though, iâm not really satisfied with this smh. itâs more like a summary of an entire fanfic iâve thought for oikawa siiigh. this also was kinda rushed by the end âcause i wanna post it already jhbksdjna
icon used
You treasure your time back in childhood. Whenever you think back to those days, you would be reminded of the times you spent with Oikawa and Iwaizumi by your side. Still young and ignorant to the world other than your own little bubble, you played around and made memories that even years later, you could still remember what you felt back then. What it felt like to pull on your sisterâs hair and the terror that went with it, what it felt like to accidentally injure yourself after you tried copying that one commercial you saw on TV, what it felt like to trip over your own feet as you dived head first to receive a ball for the first time - and with all those times of stupidity and utter fun, Oikawa and Iwaizumi was always there. You donât even remember the first time you met them. All you knew was that they were already a part of your life for as long as you could remember.
You and Oikawa are next-door neighbors and Iwaizumi lives just right around the corner by the end of the street. For everyday that passed by, you three were always joined at the hips. You canât even remember a time in your childhood that you werenât with either of the two. Or maybe it was because it was so long ago that you donât remember everything now that youâre a bit older.
But a distinct memory of Oikawa forcing both you and Iwaizumiâs pinkies to his as he shouted in promise âSomeday, weâll make it all to nationals!â Nationals. What a fancy word for such young dreamers.
But hence, when you reached the age of kindergarten, your parents made it a mission and a promise to always, always enroll the three of you in the same school. They thought your friendship was cute and special. Even everyone in the neighborhood found your little group endearing. They could never imagine one without the other two or either of the bunch. You would always be three and that would never change. At least that was the ideal reality that everyone imagined for you three.
Though that ideal friendship remained true for years and years. But in your final year of middle school, that was when everything shifted its course.
It was when Oikawa and you were alone in between the two gyms that separated the boyâs volleyball team and the girlâs volleyball team. You were a setter, a genius setter. And during that time, you didnât know the animosity Oikawa held towards genius volleyball players. So when he told you âYouâre a really great setterâ And with the small smile accompanied by those fluttering words, a great wave of pride swelled in your chest to hear such a comment from such a great setter, a tinge of pink painted across your cheeks.
You let out a small shy âThank youâ Your eyes stuck on the ground with your hair hiding your reddening cheeks. You didnât notice the slight quirk in the corners of his smile. Too busy with your head in the clouds, you failed to notice the envy that flashed through his dark chocolate-brown eyes.
While you were busy pining over your new realized feelings, Oikawa was also busy over his conflicting feelings for you. You were his friend, his best friend along with Iwaizumi. So why does he harbor so much jealousy towards you? It was him who got you into volleyball in the first place. It was him who dragged you out of bed every morning for as long as he could remember just to play volleyball. But seeing you do so much better than him, even when he would never face you on the court, he couldnât help but feel insecure in your presence.
He thinks he could do more, be better and surpass every living genius in the world of volleyball. He wants to be the best. He needs to be much much better. And with the green-eyed monster controlling his need to be the best, without knowing it, he held a resentment against you.
And you, none the wiser of your friendâs bitterness towards you, you found more reasons to be around Oikawa more. More than you already do. Which to be honest did not help calm the growing storm Oikawa harbors in his heart. You always just seem to be everywhere and seeing you always reminds him of what heâs lacking. Feelings of guilt, envy and your sudden overwhelming presence is what drove him to finally snap. To finally pull the trigger and kill whateverâs left of his fondness towards you.
Iwaizumi had told you that Oikawa has been pushing himself much more than normal. Oikawa has been losing his cool and Iwaizumi has explained the pressure, the constant need to be better and the inferiority Oikawa feels towards players like Kageyama and Ushijima. But neither you nor Iwaizumi knew you were one of those Oikawa felt inferior to.
So one late afternoon, the sun has set and the sky is minutes away from dark. Hours after classes were dismissed and the rest of the players had been sent home, you entered the boyâs volleyball gym alongside Iwaizumi to see that Oikawa is still hell-bent on practicing.
You frowned. You could see how exhausted he was but still, he stood on his two feet, determined. Before you could even call out his name, Kageyama caught your attention as he made his way to his senior âOikawa-san, please teach me how to serveâ
As if something inside him snapped in half, Oikawaâs hand flew towards Kageyama only for Iwaizumi to catch his arm in time âGet a grip you moron!â Stunned silence echoed through the gym, only heavy breaths and wide eyes spoke volumes of what just happened. âIâm sorryâ Oikawa relaxed and Iwaizumi let him go. But his eyes, he was just as shocked with his actions as much as everyone was.
âKageyma, Iâm sorry but weâre done for the dayâ Iwaizumiâs spoke and with that, Kageyama walked away, eyeing Oikawa warily as he passed him by.
âTooru?â Your voice caught his attention. You being there sent him in overload and before he could stop himself, before Iwaizumi had the chance to stop the words that flew out of Oikawaâs mouth, he snapped once again. But this time, there was no stopping it.
âYou!â He bellowed, you flinched âI hate you! I hate you and your presence and everything that is you!â
âHuh?â âWha-? OI!â
â-Why are you always everywhere? Why do you have to be a part of my life? Youâre always in my eyes! Youâre always there and I am sick of it!â Oikawa huffed, tears brimming on his eyes. Youâre already crying.
âYou like me donât you?âÂ
He knows
â-Well I donât like it! Stay away from me will you! You overwhelm me!â
He knows
You clenched your hand, shaking.
â-WHY DID YOU HAVE TO BE A SETTER?!â With a frustrated cry, Oikawa dropped to his knees and suddenly, you realize.
âHe hates meâ You thought. You didnât even dwell as to why when you ran out the gym. You heard Iwaizumi call out your name but you ignored him and ran. You ran and ran until your lungs forced you to stop, tumbling down to your knees as you sobbed in the empty road under the street light.
You canât understand for the life of you. Had you been mean to him? Have you done something wrong? Or is it because he knows you like him and he doesnât feel that way towards you. Maybe you made him uncomfortable. His mother doesnât really help as she always gushes about how you should be her future daughter-in-law. You had overwhelmed him and now he hates you.
It was only the night before Monday did you remember what he last told you.
âWHY DID YOU HAVE TO BE A SETTER?â
âAhâ you thought as you realized the roots of his new found resentment towards you.
Oikawa has always been ambitious and successful at whatever he sets his mind into. But he was no genius and his skills were practiced, it did not come naturally. You remembered those times he ranted about Ushijima and how unbelievably strong he is. And Kageyama and how heâs younger yet so much better than he is. And then thereâs you.
He had never complained about you. Or at least none that you knew about. You should have realized when people started calling you a genius. You should have noticed the change of his demeanor towards you. How he doesnât smile genuinely anymore. How you werenât actually friends anymore.Â
You didnât love volleyball and maybe thatâs one of the reasons why he hates you. Or maybe thatâs the exact reason why. You donât even love it yet youâre so good at it. No wonder he was frustrated about you. Heâs not just envious about your skills, heâs also frustrated to see you obtain something he wants when youâre only half-hearted into the game. It was a reminder that no matter how hard he pushed himself, there would always be some genius that would trample over his hardened efforts.
You couldnât believe how fast you could go from liking someone to hating them the next.
You avoided him after that incident. You avoided him like the plague. You still talk to Iwaizumi though but not as much as before. You distanced yourself from them and before you knew it, you had graduated.
Over the summer, that was when people noticed the shift in the dynamic of your friendship. The three became two and youâre now only one. You donât leave your house, not even when Iwaizumi called out your name for an hour because you knew Oikawa would be there.
Oikawa did not make any effort to reconcile with you and it annoyed you to no end. It was always Iwaizumi acting as the mediator but eventually, even he gave up. It was tiring to force two people to reconcile when neither party wanted anything to do with the other.
It doesnât mean Oikawa didnât feel guilty. His guilt was one of the reasons why he exploded and it was also guilt that made him ashamed of facing you. You were a precious friend, a childhood friend, a person whoâs known him for so long. A person who knows him better than his family and yet he pushed you away.Â
And now you wonât come back.
At the opening ceremony in high school, he waited for you. He thought that he would make peace with you. Apologize once and for all. You were already in high school for godâs sake. You had let the whole summer wash away the broken pieces of your friendship with no way of reconciliation. You had wasted a whole summer and Oikawaâs determined to bring everything back to where it was. Even if it meant to pick up all the pieces of the broken fragments of your strained friendship. He would do so. Because youâre precious to him, more than you nor he could understand.
But you never came. And at once, all that courage and determination in him was also washed away.
You went to Karasuno for high school and swore your soul to the gods that exist that you would never ever step foot into a volleyball court ever again. You had decided to quit on volleyball. Sure, you were a genius at it but you didnât love it. At least not as much as some people you know. But that promise was also thrown away when Sugawara, a classmate, begged you to be their manager.
He was resolute and you were annoyed. And so you rejected his offer. Though that did not stop him from pestering you, begging you down to his knees which is why you found yourself watching a practice match held in the schoolâs volleyball gym.
âTheyâre weakâ You thought. You didnât really care as you watched the team pathetically lost. You could not stress enough the difference in power between your school and the away team. It was truly and utterly pitiable.
You had heard about the tale of the once powerhouse that is Karasuno and you wondered what happened. You learned that your school had once managed to make it to the nationals so why is the team so weak now? No coach, no manager, just players.
You were already leaving, indifferent to your schoolâs volleyball team when your ears perked up on an insult, an insult that sent you to overdrive and before you knew it, you were screaming. You screamed at your schoolâs team. You screamed a vow, a vow to get them to nationals once again. And so beyond your belief, you were on the court once again. Though this time, you were only at the side.
It was in the Interhigh Tournament did you and Oikawa look at each other once again. His eyes were wide while yours was determined, glaring at him as if challenging him. He knew of your abilities and how well you could use that to coach others. He knew you could use that to examine opponents and use that knowledge against them. You were a genius that way. And so seeing you in the opponentâs team as their manager made him nervous. Just because you were a manager doesnât mean you wouldnât be able to help the team technically.
But how can you help a team that doesnât want your help in the first place? It was only you and your other fellow first years that were bitter when you lost in the first round. Your seniors seemed to accept that your team just wasnât good enough. And the frustration sent you to silent tears as you questioned your decision of being involved in volleyball again.
And Oikawa, being the ever jackass that he is, used the opportunity to tease you. An excuse to talk to you. And imagine the delight he felt when you gave him the attention. And so started the rivalry you never imagined you would have with him.
You thought that maybe if he hadnât chosen to tease you that day, you wouldâve quit the volleyball club. And maybe if he hadnât teased you that day, you would have probably never talked again.
Three years passed and it was your last year at high school. With the addition of promising first years, you faced off against Aoba Johsai in the Spring Interhigh Qualifiers. Karasuno won and would face off Shiratorizawa for the finals. You should be glad, ecstatic even. So why are you sad? Why are you mourning for your childhood friendsâ loss? Why wonât you look away from the opponent and celebrate with your team?
But how could you when you could see the two special people in your life fight off the tears that threatened to stream down their eyes. And the night after Karasuno beat Shiratorizawa, you thought âNationalsâÂ
You were the only one who made it to Nationals. And you werenât even a player.
The thought of that stupid childhood promise left a bitter taste on your mouth.

The high of the nationals died down once it was over and you and your fellow third years now focus on studying for the finals and upcoming university entrance exams. It was dismissal time and having no volleyball club activities any more, you head straight home, parting ways with Sugawara at the intersection.
You sighed. The sky is orange with hues of pink, purple and blue painting the sky gradient. You had arrived by your houseâs gate when you heard the ruckus of voices. Male voices. So you turn and lo and behold, it was Oikawa, Iwaizumi and number 2 and 3 from what you could remember.
They turn to look at you and their ruckus dies down. You turned your back at them, already opening the gate when Iwaizumi called out your name. You turn your focus back at them âWould you mind tutoring us?â
âPlease, sheâs bad at mathâ Oikawa commented. You felt a nerve pop out of your neck âYou bitch, you suck at everything but volleyball!â
âExcuse me, Iâm in class 6-â âDoesnât matterâ
Iwaizumi could only sigh as Matsukawa and Hanamaki watched in amusement. âSo youâre the famous childhood friendâ they thought.
You and Oikawa stared down at each other, neither backing down. For added effect, you crossed your arms which earned a snort from the setter âPlease?â Iwaizumi pleaded. With a sigh, you looked at your friend âFine. Iâll just tell mom firstâ
Why did you accept? You didnât know. But you knew you didnât mind being around Oikawa now. Though you donât really trust him, not anymore.
Your mom was surprised to hear you would be going to Oikawaâs house. Itâs been years and she could not hide the glee on her face as she practically pushed you out of the house. With a deep breath, you made your way to his house.
The door opened to his mother who, like your mom, albeit a bit more enthusiastic, was ecstatic beyond relief at the sight of you. She asked you continuously without giving you any chance to reply âDid you finally make up? Are you friends again? Youâre talking again? How splendid! Why did you stop talking in the first place? I was so sad. I missed you so dearly. It wasn't the same without youâ
She kept on beaming and you only replied in awkward chuckles, not wanting to kill her joy and tell her you still very much held a grudge against her son. But fortunately, she left you to the company of the four boys who sprawled all around the couch, bags thrown at the side with the television on in a music channel. A girl group is performing.
âArenât you guys supposed to be studying?â
âShh, Miho-chan is singingâ Oikawa held a finger on his lips. You could only grimace at their focus on the girl group. Maybe you should go now.
But before you could even turn around, Iwaizumi had turned off the TV much to the boysâ protests âFanboy later you horny scumbagsâ
âYou know Iâm here, right?â You say and Iwaizumi sent you an apologetic smile.
âYou donât count as a girl anyway so it doesnât really matterâ You felt your heart drop at Oikawaâs comment. You frowned, dropping your books down on the coffee table with a slam. The three boys jumped, startled. They were sitting down on the floor when you did that.
With a huff, you sat down at the end of the table while Matsukawa and Hanamaki sat beside each other and across from them sat Oikawa and Iwaizumi âSo-â You cleared your throat as they looked at you in synchrony â-what is it you need help in?â
àčàŁ Â Â àŁȘ Ë Â Â Â Â â àŁȘ. Â Â Ë àŁȘâ Â Â Â Ë àŁȘ ÙŹ   àčàžž âž± àčàŁ Â Â àŁȘ Ë Â Â Â Â â àŁȘ. Â Â Ë àŁȘâ Â Â Â Ë àŁȘ  àčàŁ
You looked up to the digital clock hanging on the wall. 8:47 pm, it read âArenât you guys gonna go home?â
Oikawa is fast asleep on the coffee table, head resting in his arms. Matsukawa has given up on his practice test and Hanamaki sat spaced out. It was only Iwaizumi whose focus is still on his notes. Even you gave up 15 minutes ago, feeling your head ache as the words start swirling incoherently in your mind.
You received a hum of reply, everyone focused on their own little worlds. You sighed, closing your book and tucking in the notes in your bag in a hurry. You stood up, groaning at the ache that has built up on your legs from hours of sitting. The others noticed this and copied your actions, slowly standing up and slinging their bags on their shoulders âYou all should rest for the day. Just continue tomorrowâ
Iwaizumi did not budge from his position and you walked out of the living room to the front door, Matsukawa and Hanamaki hot on your heels. Once you were outside, you were about to bid them goodbye when Hanamaki beat you to it âHey, Iâve been thinking. Why didnât you go to Seijoh?â
Matsukawa hit Hanamaki in the back of his head, earning a hiss from the latter âSorry, you donât have to answer thatâ
âWhy? Did they talk about me?â Your smile was sad it could come off as a frown. The two boys looked at you sheepishly and you chuckled, turning away from them as you unlocked your gate âWeâve heard the three of you were close and that something happened. They didnât really elaborate. Youâre a really touchy subjectâ This made you laugh
âDamnâ You turned back around to face them to see that theyâre still on the same spot, waiting for your response. But you only gave them half a smile, bid goodbye and entered your house.
The next day, you slept through your alarm. Only waking up when your mother woke you up with a screech. And so you skipped on breakfast, snatching a biscuit from the top of the refrigerator and dashed out of your house. Only to be met with Oikawa getting on his bike, obviously late like you are.
âShouldnât you be at morning practice?â âShouldnât you know that 3rd years donât go to practice anymore?â You rolled your eyes.
âGeez, how could I know? I donât go to your school, dumbassâ Oikawa pedaled to match your pace âYou sound like Iwa-chan, chibi-chan~â
You held your tongue, though your frown failed to conceal your annoyance. Oikawa gazed at you, pursing his lips as you refused to look at his way âHop on, chibi-chan. No matter how fast you go, youâll still be late with those tiny legs of yoursâ
âCan you shut up?!â âWhat? Is that your best retort? How lame~â You kicked the wheel of his bike sending him trembling out of balance âHey!â
You huffed. You did not sign up for so much annoyance so early in the morning. You groaned, head looking up at the sky in exasperation when Oikawa blocked your way âPlease, please get hit by a truckâ Oikawa looked offended
âOuch, chibi-chan. Just hop on already, you know Iâm rightâ He gave you a grin which only aggravated you more âNoâ
âDonât be so stubborn, little girlâ âI am not littleâ âYour height says otherwiseâ âIâll kill you!â
Both of you were locked out of the gate that day.
Your review with the four boys continued everyday after school. As well as your morning walk to the school being bombarded by Oikawa. When he learned what time you go to school, Oikawa made it his mission to walk with you. Always biking at your pace as he ranted on and on much to your dismay. You had begged Iwaizumi to go to school with the two of you since Oikawa doesnât give any signs of giving up on you. But Iwaizumi only gave you a grunt for a response, mumbling about respecting his sleep.
And came one Friday morning, 2 weeks left of school and 3 days before university entrance examinations. Oikawa is waiting by your gate as always and hopped on at the sight of you âMorning, chi-bi-chan~â
Closing your gate, he waits for you to walk but was pleasantly surprised when you sat on the back of his bike âHuh?â
âBikeâ You said and so he did. He began telling a story about Iwaizumi tripping in front of his crush, elaborating on what happened that day. And you, you were uncharacteristically quiet.Â
Usually, youâll banter with him. And so when you called out his name, Oikawa could feel that you were about to say something heavy. So he continued rambling, zoning out your voice and filling the air with his words.
âTooruâ He paused, his heart thundering against his chest. It has been years since he last heard you call him by his name âYeah?â
âWhy are you acting like weâre friendsâ Oikawa let out a strained smile but you didnât see
âDamn, that hurts y/n-chanâ He said in jest but you could hear the genuine hurt in his voice. Oikawa felt your hand tighten as you clutch on the back of his jacket.
âTooru-â You leaned your head against his back â-itâs weird how this makes me feel happy but hurtâ You thought
âTooru-â â-Iâm glad weâre talking againâ
Oikawa could feel his heart go erratic, longing for whatever that is on your mind. Voice it out, he thought. Voice it out. But you donât
âTooru-â â-how come I still like you?â
That night, everyone is staying over at Oikawaâs house except for you. It would be weird considering youâre the only girl and your parents didnât let you. But here you were, shivering in the cold as you knocked on the window outside Oikawaâs room. He was there because it was him who called you out at 2 in the morning, begging you to come. You shouldnât have come but you couldnât really resist him. Not even after all these years. Not even after convincing yourself to move on from him.
Youâre whipped and youâre annoyed by it.
âHeâs a jackassâ You think as he holds your hand to support you down âHe shouted at you. Never apologized, rejected you before you even had a chance to confess. Heâs an annoying son of a bitchâ
Your heart flutters when you stumble against his chest, Oikawa holding you by the shoulders to steady you âYouâre coldâ He says, his breath raining down on your hair. His breath was hot and your cheeks turned warm.
You fought the urge to look up at him but when he wrapped a blanket around you, your eyes unconsciously made its way to his face to see he was glowing red despite the darkness of his room.
âThe others are in the living roomâ He says, pulling you down with him on his bed. Shuffling of sheets echoed around the room as Oikawa dived under the blanket. He had his arm under you while his other pulled you to his chest. He kept his arms around you, his chin on your head as you flushed yourself to his chest.
You could feel his heart, beating its way out of his chest. His heart slowly lulling you to sleep. He called out your name. You reluctantly pulled your head away from his chest and looked up at him âHm?â
Oikawa bite his tongue, mulling over the words in his head. Should he tell you right now? What would your reaction be? He doesnât want to hurt you again. He doesnât want to repeat the same mistakes. He doesnât want this moment to stop. For the world to pause and let him hold you close to him.
He thinks it over - deciding he should tell you soon. But not know. Not when your cheeks are red, your half-lidded eyes glossy as you gazed at him longingly. Oikawa leans in, planting a soft kiss to your forehead that tells you exactly what he feels. You could feel yourself shrink under the affection.
You didnât notice that you fell asleep. Did not know that his eyes scanned every nook and crevices of your face. How beautiful you looked to him. How you would always be the prettiest in his eyes. How he looked at you so utterly and deeply in love it hurts to know that the time is ticking.
Oikawa brushes the strand of hair on your face, pushing it behind your ears in an agonizingly slow pace. He takes his time feeling your skin, placing his lips on your forehead and falls asleep with your warmth wrapped against his.
After that night, you and Oikawa grew more affectionate with each other. Sure, you still banter. That would never change. But there was a shift in the air and you knew there was something in there. But neither of you admitted anything. Still friends but much more than just that. Nothing was official and no one acknowledged the elephant in the room.
And you were glad it was never official. Because after graduation, Oikawaâs mom threw a party for him. A graduation party. A farewell party.
It seems like night brings out the intimacy that the morning shies away. Oikawa had led you to the playground behind your house. You remembered playing here with Oikawa and Iwaizumi, practicing volleyball as always.
You climbed up the slide and sat down at the top, letting your feet dangle on the edge. Oikawa sat beside you, his long legs dangling down beside yours. You studied the difference and smiled to yourself.
âIâm going to Argentinaâ He says, refusing to look at you. His hands are pulled into a fist, trembling. You placed your hand on top of his, his shaking stops as he finally looks your way âThatâs greatâ You said, and you mean it.
He smiles at you but it doesnât reach his eyes. So you held his cheeks, head tilting to the side âIt has always been your dream, Tooru. I canât believe itâs finally happeningâ
âItâll be hardâ You snort âOf course. Itâs Argentina dude. Japan is still miles away from their skillsâ Your eyes glint at that, giving Oikawa a determined smile âBut weâll beat you, just you waitâ
âIâll win firstâ And he means it. You laugh, hand dropping from his cheeks âIâll look forward to itâ
Oikawa gazes at you with so much adoration in his eyes. You were the only person who didnât tell him his plans were stupid. And he loves you for that.
âI love youâ he was the first to crack. Your cheeks turn red, expression shy at his intense gaze âI-I love you tooâ You stutter, a bit overwhelmed.
Oikawa chuckles âYouâre cuteâ His words don't really help to die down the red in your cheeks. In fact, it only worsens it âShut upâ You grumble indignantly and he laughs.
âHey, will you be my girlfriend?â At this, you looked at him with a sad smile.
âWe canâtâ Oikawa knew your answer before he even asked. But he didnât expect the pain would hurt that much.
âCanât we try?â His voice is painful and it broke your heart to see him so broken âTooruâ He looks at you pleadingly and he speaks
âI think I've been in love with you all this time. But to be honest-â He bitterly chuckles â-I was envious of you more than I liked you"
"And that's why it's a no" you smiled sadly.
"You love volleyball, Tooru. More than anything else. More than you. More than me" The atmosphere was somber. Until a thought passed by your mind and you tittered.
"More than milk bread" The both of you giggled.
"Yeah...more than milk bread"
Neither of you moved. Not even when the sun rose from its sleep and in a few hours, he'll leave.
He'll leave.
And you have to let him go. Even though he's right there beside you. So close yet so far away. He's there and he loves you. But for his dreams. For him.
You let him go.
And then he's gone. On the other side of the world, thousands and millions of miles away from you. And you regret the three years that could've been so much more if the two of you hadn't been so stupid and so prideful.
And just like that, years and years passed. Both Oikawa and Iwaizumi left abroad and only you stayed. Though you did move to Tokyo and worked at a hospital for a few months until the opportunity to work as an assistant manager and physical therapist for MSBY Black Jackals came up. You could only thank the stars for connections. In this field, you only get a chance if someone in it knows you. And luckily for you, you know a ton of them from your years as a manager back in high school.Â
Itâs 2021 and 8 years have passed and you remained in contact with Oikawa. Though you donât talk as much as you two now have your own separate lives. He has volleyball and you have your athletes. And of course, during the course of those 8 years, the both of you had dated several people. Some long term, some not so long. And inside those 8 years, youâve finally convinced yourself youâve moved on from Oikawa Tooru.
The olympics is this year and along with Iwaizumi, you were pulled in to be a manager and their physical therapist. You had made quite the reputation in the industry. What with your genius mind for volleyball, opponent teams that know you fear your analytical skills and your ability to use that knowledge for the benefit of your team. Really, all professional volleyball teams want you. It just so happens that it was MSBY Black Jackals that called you first.
Oikawa doesnât know that you and Iwaizumi are part of the Japan team. And so when his team emerged, ready to face old rivals, Oikawa swore his eyes jumped at the sight of you and Iwaizumi.
Your heart swelled with pride, lips outstretched to a big smile. Youâre proud of him, so so much.
You could only yelp when Oikawa sprinted towards you and pulled you and Iwaizumi in a tight hug. Itâs been such a long time since you saw each other. And a thought passed by your head.
The three of you didnât make it all in the nationals, but you sure did all go to the olympics.
When Japan lost and Argentina won, you didnât find it in yourself to be sad. Instead, you were happy. Ecstatic. Euphoric. Youâre so proud of everyone, of your teammates and rivals. To have made it this far, they were truly beyond just amazing.

âYou could stay with meâ Oikawa says nonchalantly as he takes your bag from your hand, the hubbub of the crowd ringing in your ears as you exit the airport âMy carâs right hereâ He tells you as you near a red sports sedan. Unlocking the car, he placed your bag at the backseat as you sat at the passenger's seat.
Youâre in Argentina for the weekend for a seminar for sports physical therapists. Just two days, sure nothing could happen for such a short time.
âNah, just drive me to a hotelâ Oikawa gazed at you mischievously
âWhat? Afraid Iâll do something?â You threw a box of tissue at him âShut up bitchâ He laughed, taking a seat before starting the car âSo you areâÂ
âPleaseâ You scoff.
You ended up staying at his guest room.
His house is in an apartment - a kitchen, a couch, a TV, a fucking gym, and pictures on the wall. His apartment is surprisingly cozy, you noted.Â
You dropped your phone on the bed, collapsing in fatigue. Your eyes were about to flutter shut when Oikawaâs voice boomed in the room âYou should shower. Ya stinky from the flightâ You rolled your eyes.
You reluctantly pushed yourself out of bed, passing by him and snatching the towel from his hands. You noticed he already changed into a shirt and shorts. You could see the outline of his muscles, lining down his chest. His thighs in view, you tried hard not to stare.
But of course, Oikawa being the ever asshole that he is, comments âTake a picture! Itâll last!â
Once shower was over, you fell down beside him on the couch, the television on in the sports channel. Itâs Schweiden Adlers against Azuma Pharmacy Green Rockets. You smiled thoughtfully at the sight of Ushijima and Goshiki on TV.
âWhat time tomorrow is your seminar again?â Oikawa asks, passing you the milk break from the coffee table. You took it â8 in the morning until 5â He hums, bread down his throat.
âWanna go out after? My practice ends at the same timeâ You yawn âSureâ
True to his words, he picked you up from the university 30 minutes after five. Oikawa took you everywhere, to the beach, to a restaurant, to a park, even to a club. Which is probably why heâs dragging your drunk ass to his apartment at 1 am.
You slipped from his arms and landed on the floor with a thud âShitâ You heard him curse under his breath as he hurriedly closed the door behind him. You felt arms curl around yours causing you to giggle âThat tinglesâ
âHow can you get drunk from 2 glasses of vodka?â He mused but you only giggled at him. Oikawa glanced at the clock, 1:42 am. Sighing, Oikawa put a hand under your knees and back, carrying you bridal style to your room.
âTooruâ You exhaled, your hot breath sticking to his face as he laid you down gently on the bed. Gulping, Oikawa turned away, grabbing the blanket to put it over you. He felt your hand enclose his cheek, forcing his gaze to you.
Your cheeks are red, illuminated by the moon that is the only light source in the room. Your hair is a mess and your breath stinks of vodka. Your eyes are closing, hands collapsing on your side as you exhale, dropping your head on the pillow. Oikawa notes the way your eyelashes squint and the mole in your left eyelid. And suddenly, Oikawa felt like he was eighteen again.
You could feel his breath, hear his heavy breathing and you flutter your eyes open. You shrink under his gaze, lips parting unconsciously and Oikawa fought with all his might not to kiss you right there and then. His eyes are half-lidded, filled with desire, longing, and love.
Love. Suddenly, youâre not so drunk anymore.
âTooruâ You breathed out in a soft voice. As if something in him snapped, his lips zoomed into yours in a passionate heated kiss. You moan, slinging your arms on his nape, pulling him closer to you until he was in between your thighs.
âTooruâ You slipped out when he removed his lips on yours only to kiss you again. You could feel the heat of his skin on yours as you pulled and pulled him closer as humanly possible. 8 years flashed through your eyes and all you could think about was how good it feels to have his lips nipping on your neck.
He moans your name, fingers combing through your hair in a desperate attempt to feel all of you. Heâs wanted you for so long he couldnât think straight when he felt your hands dig under his shirt, the cold of your hands digging into his back. He groans, kissing you again in the lips before letting you slip his shirt off his shoulders.
You hum, pulling away to kiss his collarbone, hands feeling his chest down to his abdomen. You felt him tug your shirt and you giggled into his chest, taking your shirt off only for Oikawa to roam his hands on your back, to your front then to your chest. He pressed a soft peck on the flesh of your breasts that wasnât covered by your bra and he looked up at you and asked âAre you sure?â
âYesâ You exhaled and that was all it took for Oikawa to push you gently deeper to the bed, enjoying the feeling of his fingers working its way down to your legs. He took off your pants, Oikawa took a deep breath at the sight of your cunt. He goes back up to you, nuzzling his head into your neck and whispers âGod, the things you make me feelâ He airly chuckles.
You took a hold of his cheeks, kissing his eyes, his nose then his lips âI love youâ
âI love you tooâ
-
âGod, Iâm nervousâ Oikawa starts, jumping lightly as he holds your hand. You rolled your eyes but a smile plastered on your face. You grin at him and he continues âIâve been an idiot for a very long time-â He pauses and smiles
â-still amâ You snort â-but a tad bit better now that Iâm with youâ A soft, endeared smile crept onto your lips
âI wonât say that I donât regret all those years that I couldâve been with you. But we both know that was crucial and all that matters is that now Iâm with youâ His eyes shone and his lips creased into a smile that reached his ears
âI promise to never leave you,â he pushes the ring into your left ring finger â-not even death can do us apartâ You hear your family and friends laugh in the background
âI will bother you every step of the way-â you could not help the roll of your eyes â-and love you for the rest of my lifeâ
âActually, scratch that. Iâll love you even when I die. Iâll love you in my next life. And the one after that, and the one after that. No matter how many times I reborn-â Oikawa takes your hands to his lips, eyes fluttering shut as he pressed his soft lips on your knuckles
â-I vow to find you and love you. Like Iâve always had and always willâ
For all of your life, Oikawa Tooru has been a constant even at times you wish he wasnât. There was a time you loathed him, a time you missed him, a time you forgot him, and a time you realized you will never stop loving him.
And as you stand before your creator, in front of your friends and family, promising to love each other till the end of time. The sound of âI doâs and cheers reverberating around the hall, as he kissed you with a tilt of his head.Â
You fell in love all over again.

Nikolai Lantsov x reader : Starry night
Words count : 1 310
Pairing : Nikolai Lantsov x reader
In the many years that Y/N has lived at the Ravkan capital never did the night sky looked so beautiful. The moon and the stars were shining as bright as diamonds and their light was reflected so strongly that the young woman could perfectly see young Grisha playing by the lake from the balcony of the Grand Palace. Was it maybe because the darkness left the town along with its cruel owner? It is perhaps foolish to think so but since Alina has taken over the Second Army and the Darkling went into hiding, Y/N noticed that the sky became much brighter than it used to be.
Here she was, looking at the starry night alone, not that she complained. Loneliness is far better company than the people attending the ball, except perhaps some people. In spite of the late hour the ball was not planning to end at all. The (Your Grisha Order) was quite curious on how those nobles were able to party so much and still have the energy to gossip all day long without tiring at all. But then again what more could they do, fight the war? No, that is the work of commoners like her and thousands of others.
If she was quite honest the young woman didnât know what she was doing here. All she wanted was to get rid of this uncomfortable dress and rip this chocking corset apart. Whoever created those surely must have hated women.
Y/N was tired. Tired of the petty gossips, the glances that were thrown at her, the whispers commenting all of her steps and words. But there was nothing she could do. And she did promise Nikolai to stay until the ball ended. Not for fun of course but because they both knew that he needed her there, she was what kept him sane during those nights. Because while those balls and the people attending them were horrendous, dancing and laughing with the woman he loved made them a little better.
And that is exactly why the Grisha didnât run away back to her cosy room the moment she could. No matter how hard it was to stay there she did it with her loved one by her arm. Together they put on smiles, laughed at horrible jokes and brushed away any comment about their relationship, his parentage or her lack of wealth or title. But even with Nikolai by her side all of this became too exhausting. She wondered how he was able to keep up with all of this since a very young age.
And it was exactly because of that same exhaustion that Y/N found herself staring at the beauty of Os Alta from one of the many balconies of the tasteless palace. All she wished right now was to be in bed with her lover, a book in her hands while he would write down some new engineering ideas in his notebook. But alas that was not meant to be. At least not tonight.
The peaceful atmosphere was disrupted by two arms encircling her waist and before Y/N had the time to break the hands of whoever dared to approach her in such a way, a soothing voice whispered in her ear.
"You neednât worry, love, it is only me, your beautiful lover and servant of your heart. » Being in the arms of the man that she loved brought the woman comfort and calmed her down. Every time Nikolai is with her, especially while having some physical contact with her, Y/N felt safe and warm.
"What are you doing here, Kolya? Shouldnât you be debating with your brother on which horse is faster?"Asked the Grisha while turning around to quickly peck the prince on his lips. From hearing his nickname (one that he let be called only by her) falling from her lips and the chaste kiss that she granted him, the princeâs smile grew even bigger than it was. And without knowing so, the woman mimicked the action but directly frowned when she saw how tired he truly was through his eyes. He might be an excellent actor but the ones who truly knew him could always tell apart his act and his true self through those beautiful hazel orbs of his.
"Well I was in the middle of such debate with my foolish brother when I noticed that my beautiful darling has completely disappeared."I let out a small breath at his words, I knew he would notice my absence. Sensing my fatigue through my actions, Nikolai placed one hand on the side of my face so that our eyes would meet."What is it, love? Is something wrong? Do I need to threaten someone? "He asked with full seriousness while still trying to make Y/N laugh with that last sentence. And he succeeded, his last words did bring out a small yet tired chuckle out of her.
What Y/N loved with Nikolai is that she didnât have to explain myself, he always knew what to say or do in order to make me feel better. And that is why without having to make her explain herself, the young prince decided that is what perhaps time for them to retire to his chambers. Well, officially she would go back to the Little Palace and he to his chambers but as they say, "the less you know the better".
And that is how half an hour later, the woman found herself in the arms of the man that she loved, both of them laying on a sofa in the living room of his apartments, drinking tea, talking about nothing and everything and sharing more kisses that a couple in the middle of courting should.
By the time the sun started to rise, we only got into bed, our legs tangled, my head on his chest and his hand caressing my hair while the other stayed on the small of my back. The silence was a peaceful one and both of us hoped that no one would disturb it, at least for a few more hours.
"Thank you." Sweetly whispered Nikolai after placing yet another kiss on my forehead. "Thank you for being there for me. I know that being at court is though especially for you with everyone staring at you as if you didnât belong there. But trust me, you do. You belong by my side and I, by yours, lubimaya."If Y/N wasnât so tired she would have responded with words as sweet as his but alas tiredness was too strong.
Nikolaiâs POV
Minutes have passed and Y/N was peacefully asleep on the manâs chest. Her eyes would sometimes flutter and Nikolai would check for any signs of stress on her face to make sure that his lover wasnât having a nightmare.
Never in his life the young prince would have thought that he would feel such strong feelings for someone. Whenever he looked at the Grisha woman he wondered if his parents loved each other that way. Not his official ones of course, but biological ones. Because right now gazing at the person he loved the most in life he knew that if needed he would take the same risks his mother did so many years ago when she had her affair and then gave birth to him. If being with her meant taking huge risks or even giving up his titles, he would do no matter how much he wanted to save Ravka. But luckily for him, he knew that she understood and even shared his dreams and therefore would never ask such thing from him.
"And that is why one day I will marry you, lyuobv moya." His voice was barely a whisper and after kissing her temple one more time, Nikolai succumbed into sleep.
"Lyubov moya" = "my love"
"Lybimaya" = "my love » (more like "my favourite » while still meaning "my love")
Hope you liked this little Nikolai Lantsov x reader one-shot!

simple, but complicated ; sunwoo

genre: sad, fluff, gn!reader
word count: 2.7k
warnings/themes: a lot of flashbacks (written in italics), best friends to lovers, reader gets cheated on, some swearing here and there (very light tho).
Lost. Lonely. You wouldnât be able to find words enough to describe the overwhelming pain you were feeling. The hot cup of coffee wasnât enough to warm up your hands, or your heart, like it used to some months ago. The snow was slowly falling down, and you watched it carefully through your window, wondering how many bad choices you made all along the way to feel so empty and sad.
Deep inside, you knew that a break up was painful, but the pain of losing a friend was even worse, and you were terrified of realizing it so late, when he wasnât even close to you anymore.
â I honestly donât know who you are anymore â he said, the pain in his eyes killing you inside.
â Sunwoo, I just said that we canât go out as often as before â you reply, tears about to leave your eyes.
â We havenât seen each other for weeks, y/n, you ignore my messages for days! Itâs not about not seeing each other every day, itâs about you cutting me off of your life all of a sudden.
â Iâve just been busy, I have a boyfriend now, and I donât think itâs right to go out with another boy and leave him all by himself.
Sunwoo never thought that words could hurt that bad, but the realization that he wasnât that important to you anymore, when you were still the only one he could look at, broke his heart in countless pieces.
â I knew this would happen, I knew he wasnât good for you, but you never listen! â he says. â It looks like you are already blind.
You sigh: â Youâre just jealous at this point, Sunu. I promised I would forget what you said butâŠ
â No, donât throw this shit at me, I am not doing this just because I like you in a romantic way, I am doing this because you are my best friend, but it looks like you forgot it.
The tears rolled down your cheeks and burned your eyes like never before. When you first started dating, you thought he was the one, he took you to a lot of different places, fancy restaurants, so many adventures full of cool stories to tell, just like you imagined while reading the books that were in your tall and enormous bookshelf. The concept of love for you was adventurous and full of romance. Looking back then, you couldnât even find a tiny bit of love between the trips and fancy restaurants, you could say there was a tiny bit of passion, but passion is something that lasts short, not love.
You knew love was complicated, to understand, to express, but, at this point, everything in your past just seemed so simple, and you felt so dumb. Looking at your front door, your beige coat was so inviting, he seemed to ask you to do something, so you did.
The sky was already becoming dark, but there was still a glimpse of pink and orange all over it, and the snow flakes falling in front of your eyes made everything even more beautiful. At this point, you werenât really sure where you were going, the air was cold, and you had no idea where you could find him, and if he was even willing to talk to you. The reality hit you hard at that point, he would never, ever, look at you with the same eyes, his brown eyes wouldnât turn your way the same way they did before, the same way you never paid enough attention.
When your feet were about to turn back to your house, you saw it: the small record store, the one Sunwoo always went to when something was bothering him. The one where he would sit on the same armchair, use the same headphones, and listen to the same record over and over again. With a glimpse of hope, your feet took you to the small store, your hands placed on the front glass, your eyes analyzed inside, on the left, there he was, sitting on the blue armchair: eyes closed, head tilting a little to the side, feet swaying, his backpack on the floor. With the tiny bit of courage you had left, you opened the door, and walked to him.
When his eyes met yours, you froze, but managed to say: â Itâs been a long time.. Sunwoo.
After a walk down the street, you and Sunwoo were sitting in front of each other in a cozy and empty coffee shop, it seemed like a good place to talk to him. You kept playing with your fingers, nervous about the distance and awkward atmosphere between you and your long time best friend.
â Is there a reason why you talked to me? â he asked suddenly, making you rapidly look at him.
â I just⊠wanted to see you â you say.
It wasnât the full truth, but it wasnât a lie either. You just had no idea how you were supposed to tell him he was right, that you were blind and being fooled.
â Did your boyfriend allow you to come? â he paused before letting the word boyfriend slip through his lips.
You laugh, without energy: â I donât have a boyfriend anymore.
â Ah, so thatâs why you decided to look out for me â he says, his eyes anywhere but your face.
It wasnât his intention to be harsh, deep inside, he wanted to hug your tired body, and take that sad and destroyed expression out of your face. He knew you way too well to know something was wrong, that you were sad and regretful, but sometimes pride takes the best of us.
â I have been thinking about some things since the last time we talked to each other â you say, ignoring his words. â You were right.
â About what?
â About being blind, about him, about everything â you say. â He cheated on me, not only once.
He never wanted to hold your hand so bad. The feelings Sunwoo had for you were still there, but he wanted to hold your hand and hug you, firstly, as a friend, as the friend he was before letting you go, before letting you drown in a bad relationship.
â Iâm so sorry for that, y/n â he says, sighing, â he never deserved you.
â Donât worry, you are the one who always told me he wasnât good enough.
He gets up to get something to drink, you expected him to come back with his usual, but, instead, he holds a hot chocolate, your favorite, with lots of whipped cream. You smile when he places it in front of you.
â Itâs the first smile you show off today â he notices, smiling a bit too.
You drink your hot chocolate, your eyes closing a bit because of the smile you showed once more, the warm and sweet filling you inside.
â Sunwoo â you say, the courage coming from the hot chocolate in front of you, â Iâve been thinking a lot about something these days.
â What is it? â he asks, genuinely curious, making you feel like you were back in time, when you were both as close as ever, best friends, soulmates.
â Do you remember when we had that talk about what love is?
He nods: â Yes, I do, and you said it is adventurous and magic.
â Yeah, I kind of remember that â you laugh. â Itâs not really true, honestly. I donât think thatâs love anymore.
â Then, what is love?
â Honestly, when I started dating, even if bad things happened, in my head I was having the romance I always read about in the books, the same romance I always told you I wanted to have, the one I wrote about in some of my stories, full of adventures, cliches and serenades â you say. â Now, after living it, I know love is more, or less, than this.
He looks at you with attention, wondering what you meant with all these words. He wonders if you lost hope in love, if you will start to believe it is not real because of the bad experience you had.
â I just feel like love is simple, but complicated at the same time, do you know what I mean?
â I donât have lots of experiences with love, but I think, yes? â he tilts his head.
â Me neither â you reply, knowing there wasnât love in your last relationship.
The silence between you both made you almost give up, but you keep thinking about how to choose the right words to tell how you were feeling deep inside, since the first day.
â I think⊠â he says, after some silence â love is more than just the romantical part, itâs about trusting and taking care of the one you love, and having patience, waiting.
â Youâre right â you say. â Honestly⊠Never mind, you donât need to hear all of this.
The courage you had, disappeared like the warmth on the mug on your hands, without you even noticing.
â I always like to hear what you want to say, you know that.
You look at him, even though you can see a bit of pain in his eyes, he smiles softly, encouraging you. The feeling of being heard truly after so long made your heart flutter, so you hold that opportunity. When you think about everything, you know that, at this point, you have nothing to lose.
â Love can be about stolen glancesâŠ
You hold the book in front of your face, your back is comfortably on top of your mattress, and you can hear and feel Sunwoo moving a lot on your side. Heâs probably bored, youâve been reading for the last two hours and he probably wants to watch a movie like every afternoon he spends with you.
When he suddenly stops, you take your eyes off of your book, just to lock them with his eyes, that watched you fondly. As soon as he notices he got caught staring, he looks away, a blush on his cheeks, making you laugh.
â ⊠and holding hands during horror moviesâŠ
The black screen of the television suddenly made a loud noise, making the boy on your side scream his lungs out.
â This is bullshit! â he screams. â Sheâs so stupid why is she even inside this house!
The scared look on his face was already funny enough, but then he hid his face on your shoulder, making you laugh even more. He looked at you with an annoyed pout on his face, what made you force your laugh to stop.
â Iâm sorry Sunu, here â you reach your hand out to him â you can hold my hand.
He stops for a second, and, if it wasnât dark, you would be able to see the red on his cheeks, but then he happily grabs your hand with both of his, and holds it on his lap, close to his belly, and cuddles close to you. For some reason, he wasnât that scared at all after that.
â ⊠or even playing the guitar on a monday morning, skipping class.
His eyes light up a bit, and you know he was starting to understand the in-between the phrases you were saying.
You cross your arms, an annoyed look on your face: â I am not skipping class, Sunwoo.
The boy in front of you pouts, one of his hands holding the guitar on his back. You sigh, knowing youâll never be able to say no to your best friend. Some time later, youâre both by the Han River, sitting on the grass, the sun warming up your body.
â Arenât you going to play? â you point to his guitar. â Iâm here for the songs.
He laughs, then grabs his guitar and, after thinking for a bit, he starts playing, you soon notice is Best Part.
â Can you sing?
He smiles: â If you think I am good at singing, yes.
You smile, knowing he has one of the sweetest voices in the world.
â What do you mean? â Sunwoo asks, not sure if he is understanding well.
â Love is about going to convenience stores at three in the morning, just because your loved one craves ice cream â you say, answering him, but ignoring him at the same time.
Sunwoo sighs, looking at the television screen with annoyance. You try to ignore him for a while, thinking he probably just wants your attention, because you didnât want to stop the tv show you were watching.
â Y/n⊠â he whines.
â Sunwoo â you pout at him, pausing the television. â I hope you have a good reason to make me stop Sky Castle in the middle!
â I want ice cream â he says, smiling at you.
â And I want to date Hwang Woojoo â you reply, turning on the tv show again.
He shakes your arm, whining like a kid: â Please⊠Letâs buy some ice cream, I promise Iâll watch two more episodes with you.
You look at him, and think for a bit. Even though you donât think you can watch two more episodes without falling asleep, you nod and get up. You both put on warm clothes and leave your apartment, and Sunwoo puts his arm around you as soon as you step foot outside.
â What are you doing?
â Protecting you.
Sunwooâs eyes can't leave your face, his heart is about to leave his chest. Honestly, the first time you told him you were dating, he was scared, and when you two talked for the last time, he knew he had lost forever, but now, there you were, confessing to him, in the most you way. Even after him letting his jealousy break your friendship, even though he left you to deal with everything by yourself, there you were, telling him your honest feelings.
â So⊠Youâre telling me⊠â he starts.
â I like you, Sunwoo â you say. â If you want me to clearly say, I can repeat this how many times you want: I like you, I like you, I like you.
He laughs, and a smile stays on his face, the prettiest you ever saw. When he gets up, you widen your eyes, worried he is going to kiss you there, in front of the people working at the coffee shop. But he just gently grabs you by your hand and hugs you tight, holding you as close as possible, his face on your neck, then he looks at you and smiles, still holding you tight.
â Donât worry, Iâm not going to kiss you in front of everyone â he whispers.
You blush, and hide your face on his neck, wondering how he knows you so well, to even know what you were thinking. When you look at him, you kind of want to peck his lips, but instead, you give him a gentle kiss on the cheek.
â I know I said this before â he starts, â but Iâm in love with you, and I feel I should say this again, now that I know I wonât be rejected.
â I donât remember doing this â you joke.
He laughs, and looks at you fondly. Then, something seems to lighten up on his mind, so he smiles at you: â But thereâs something I remember.
â What?
â That you said you wanted to watch that new horror movie with me.
You look at him, confused: â I thought you were scared of horror movies.
â And I am â he says. â But you said love is about holding hands during horror movies, and Iâll do anything if I get to hold your hand.
In the middle of a coffee shop, you finally had the opportunity to feel what real love felt like. There, in Sunwooâs embrace, you allowed yourself to forget about all the stupid books youâve read, all those love stories, just so you could finally understand what real love is about: confessing in empty coffee shops, after a heartbreak and a cup of hot chocolate.
hi! so.... this is kind of a comeback? i guess JNSNXNS iâm honestly very proud of how it turned out, not sure if this is exactly how i wanted to show this idea to the world but !! thatâs what i came up with and i hope you like it :]

Meant to Be (Charlie Weasley x OC)
What happens when Bill brings home a girl and Charlie is completely awestruck by her?
WARNINGS: mentions of alcohol, curse words, angst
Chapter 9
Charlie
On the Saturday after the week Rhylee found out about the trial, I woke up early. I looked through my window and saw a cloudless sky. It was the perfect opportunity to hike up to my favorite spot and watch the sunrise. I have been so busy all week that I simply didnât find the time to do it and I missed it so much.
I got dressed and made myself some coffee. I stretched and went outside. I took a long whiff of fresh air. It does wonders to the lungs. I loved that it was getting warmer. The Summer breeze was just around the corner. I started walking toward the hill.
I loved living here because it wasnât as hot in the Summer as in most places. After all, we were surrounded by mountains but at the same time, we didnât get that much rain and it was rarely windy because we were in the valley, hidden from the rest of the world.
Surrounded by nature, magic, and dragons. What a perfect life.
I felt so energized this morning. I donât know why, but I was in a better mood than I was most days this past week. I slept well and I was excited to watch the sunrise. I wish Aami was still just a baby, I would love to bring him along.
I did it once. Nobody knows about it because Peter would probably kill me but since Aami canât fly, I couldnât resist. He walked around, his eyes on me as I explained why I liked to sit on a rock and stare at the sun. It was one of my fondest memories of him.
I came to the top and put my hands on my knees, panting. A week without hiking or going for a run and I was already out of shape.
Come on, Charlie!
I looked up, to see how the sun was progressing and wanted to take a step closer to the place where I usually sit when I stopped.
I stood frozen on the spot as if someone stupefied me. It was Rhylee. She was sitting on the same boulder, waiting for the sunrise as I usually was. Why was she here?
Wasnât it enough that I was spending so much time with her already? I know I brought it on myself when I offered to help her with the case but I couldnât say no to her. I couldnât gaze into those beautiful eyes of hers and tell her that I wonât help her.
But I was not okay with this. She canât take this away from me too. This was my happy place. The place where I came to empty my head and forget about my worries. The fact that I had feelings for her was one of my biggest concerns these days and her being here meant I canât let go of that.
There is no way she saw me. If I turn around and sneak away she will never know I was here and I can go find a new spot from where to watch the sunrise from.
Yes, thatâs what Iâll do! I turned around and started walking back down the hill.
âCharlie? Is that you?â
Fuck. How did she hear me?
I slowly turned back around, cursing my heart for not obeying me to just beat normally, and waved at her.
âHi.â
Could I be more awkward? Charlie, youâre such a git!
âIs this the place you were describing when you told me you go sunrise watching?â She said gently. I canât believe she remembered that I told her that. I just nodded. âWant to join me?â
Not really, Rhylee.
I would rather roll myself back down to the village than sit next to you and watch the bloody sunrise.
Did I do that?
No.
Her smile won. It always does.
I canât resist her lips curving into a hopeful expression, indicating that she would love to spend time with me. Iâm too weak and I didnât care. I hated myself for it but I couldnât help it. Most days it felt like an invisible string was drawing me toward her and I couldnât get away.
I wanted to be around her all the time. I wanted to talk to her and make her laugh. I wanted to hug her and touch the soft skin of her cheeks. I wanted to kiss her forehead and hold her hand.
I wanted to be with her.
âCharlie?â I blinked at her when I heard her say my name. âJoin me.â
She said, more determined this time, and patted the spot on the rock next to her. I moved as fast as my legs allowed me, which wasnât very fast at all. They felt like jelly. I wanted to melt, thatâs how beautiful she was.
I awkwardly sat down next to her, looking straight at the sunrise. I know she was scanning me with her eyes, waiting for me to look at her but I couldnât. Every time I did, I started overthinking. She always looked at me differently than the rest of our friends.
I always felt as if she was trying to read me, to know what I was thinking. I constantly felt like she wanted to talk about everything else with me but our job or dragons but she always stopped herself as if she was afraid she would say something that she isnât supposed to.
I know I was an idiot but I didnât do anything about it. I felt the same way for Merlinâs sake! But I couldnât talk to her. I canât. Sheâs my co-worker and itâs been more than 2 years since we slept together.
Itâs also been two years since I saw Bill.
Just thinking about it made me sick. I despised myself for the fact that I didnât visit him. That I couldnât talk to him. That I couldnât tell him. I donât even want to know what my family thinks or if he said anything to them about me.
I went home for Easter last year just because I knew he wouldnât be there. How horrible does that make me? I think I reached rock bottom a long time ago and I was terrified that I wouldnât be able to come back up.
I think about taking a few days off and visiting him every single day.
Every. Single. Day.
And yet I never bring myself to do it. After 2 years, what would I even say to him? He was the nicest and the most forgiving person I know but he wouldnât forgive me and I wouldnât blame him.
Why would he?
First, I sleep with the girl he likes, and then I disappear off the face of the Earth for 2 years. I wanted to scream at the top of my lungs thatâs how much it hurt. I basically tore my family apart.
My family. People who meant more than anything to me in this world.
âYouâre quiet today.â Rhyleeâs gentle voice and nudge to my shoulder brought me back to reality.
âHuh?â I turned to her. âYeah. Sorry. A lot on my mind.â I smiled weakly, feeling the heat on my cheeks.
âAnything you want to share?â She asked, concerned.
âNo.â I said quickly. Too quickly.
That wasnât the word I wanted to use. I wanted to say yes. I wanted to tell her how I feel about her. I wanted her to know that I still feel guilty about what I did to Bill. I wanted to tell her that I wish we wouldâve met under different circumstances. How much I wish I was the one who met her first. How beautiful she was and how she takes my breath away no matter what she wears or what she does. I wanted to tell her all of that and so much more but insteadâŠ
âI usually come here to clear my head, thatâs all.â Thatâs what I said instead.
Because Iâm an idiot.
Because of all the guilt that I canât let go of.
Because I donât deserve her.
Because I am absolutely and without a single doubt in love with her.
âYou want me to leave?â She started to get up.
âNo.â I grabbed her wrist to make her stay. âIâm just not used to anyone else being up here.â The first truth that came out of my mouth today.
âI canât believe nobody is.â She shook her head in disbelief. âI felt like exploring this morning and I stumbled upon this place just as the sun started to rise. It took my breath away.â
Like you take mine?
âItâs just so calming. Makes you forget about all your troubles, you know.â She glanced at me but quickly looked away.
She took a deep breath and I could feel her moving a bit away from me.
âThank you for putting so much of your time to help me, Charlie.â She said with a husky voice after I didnât say anything back. âI wouldnât be able to do it without you. You give me so much hope.â
Donât say that, please.
âIâŠâ
I turned my head to her.
There it was. That look in her eyes. The look that told me that she had so many things to say but no words to express herself. She had moments like this every now and then when we were alone. As if she remembered something and wanted to talk about it but couldnât for some reason. As if something stopped her. As if she was afraid of what I might say back.
âI just wish life was easier, you know.â She sighed and leaned on my shoulder.
I tried hard not to react to her touch. I closed my eyes and enjoyed the feeling of our bodies touching. It was the most I will ever get the chance to experience.
I hummed in response. I didnât know what she meant by that. I didnât know what she was referring to. To be honest I donât think I wanted to know. I wasnât ready. I donât think Iâll ever be.
âI asked around and there is a big library in the village over that mountain.â I pointed my finger to our left.
I could feel her head moving to see where I was pointing but she didnât pull away from me. It felt as if she wanted to be even closer.
âI was thinking of going there on Monday during lunch. Perhaps find some books that could help our case. Your case.â I quickly corrected myself.
âThank you for being such an amazing friend, Charlie.â I felt something shatter inside me when she called me her friend but at the same time, I felt relief.
I can finally stop questioning if there is something between us and stop overthinking all of her gestures and looks. I can relax around her and just be myself because I know she sees me as a friend. No more pressure. No more feeling guilty. Who knew I would love to be in the friendzone. Now that she said it, she can lean on my shoulder and hug me as much as she wants to.
I have been stifling my feelings for 2 years. I was used to it by now and this was my sign that I was doing the right thing. At least someone didnât hate me.
âNo problem and right back at you.â
Seriously, Charlie? This is the best you can come up with?
We sat in silence and admired the sunrise until we had to go to work. We walked down the hill in silence too. If I think about it, I donât think we said a single word to each other the whole day.
I joined the boys in the tavern after work and she wasnât there. I had this strange feeling that it had something to do with this morning but I have to stop thinking about it. I have to change some things about myself. I was too young to go through so much bullshit and I only got myself to blame for it. I have to stop beating my head over her. I have to stop bringing myself down. I have to stop feeling so guilty and own up to my mistakes.
I have to get my shit together and talk to Bill. I need my brother back. I need my best friend back. I have been so selfish, feeling sorry for myself that I didnât even think how he must feel about all of this. Who goes from spending Christmas together to not seeing his brother for 2 years?
âCharlie, you alright, mate?â I turned my head to John, sitting next to me.
âYeah. A bit tired.â I yawned. âBeen busy with Rhyleeâs trial case.â I lied.
The last time I talked about my feelings to them was that night when Rhylee started working here and if I have anything to do with it, it will never happen again.
âYou two have been spending a lot of time together.â Theo winked at me, moving his glass from his right to his left hand.
âAs I said, we have been working on the case together.â I acted unphased by his mockery.
âCome on, Charlie! Weâre not blind.â Andrew joined in.
Great. I love when they corner me like this.
âI donât know what youâre talking about.â I sighed and gulped down my whiskey.
I didnât drink enough to have a conversation of this sort and I will do anything to stop it.
âRight.â Peter rolled his eyes. âLetâs all pretend like Charlie does that nothing is going on between him and Rhylee.â
âYou mean how they look at each other when they think the other person isnât looking?â Evan smirked.
âOr the fact that they keep blushing every time they see each other?â Added John.
âOr how they just canât stop their smiles from spreading across their faces when their eyes meet.â Theo made a kissy face.
âAre you done?â I poured myself another drink.
âOh, we can go on all night, thatâs how much is going on between you two.â
Peter, you might be my boss but I will strangle you. Next on the list was my heart which was now beating so fast that I started shaking.
âAs I saidâŠare you done?â I said without a single ounce of interest in my voice.
âWhy do you keep denying it?â John cried.
âI didnât say anything.â If they can mess with me I can mess with them back.
âYou really like to torture yourself, donât you?â Evan frowned at me.
âMhm.â I said with a clenched jaw.
I was a ratâs hair away from standing up and leaving.
âCharlie, this is not some silly crush anymore. We know you have feelings for her.â Peter never sounded so serious before.
âWe know you like her, Charlie. A lot.â John put a hand on my shoulder. âItâs all over your face, mate.â
âLike her.â I scoffed.
âYouâre seriously going to deny it?â Andrew rolled his eyes. âYouâre going to say you donât like her?â
âLike her?â I raised my voice. âI donât like her, Andrew! IâŠâ Damn, they made me mad sometimes! Why do they have to be such noisy gits and why do I feel like talking about Rhylee to them? âIâm in love with her.â I said under my breath but I know they could hear me.
âThen what are you doing here sitting with us and not telling her that?â John said gently after a long pause.
I think they were shocked that I admitted it.
I looked up at them. They were patiently waiting for my response. They werenât serious, were they?
âI canât just knock on her door and tell her how I feel.â I shook my head and chugged down my whiskey.
âYes, Charlie. You can!â They said together.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I poured myself another glass of whiskey. I drank it as fast as I could, their eyes following my every move.
âFuck it.â I stood up and they started clapping.
I was already miserable and at this point had nothing to lose. Might as well try right?
I walked over to her hut as fast as I could before I would change my mind. I stopped on her front porch and I wanted to bang my head against the wall.
Can I do this?
Am I really doing this?
Am I actually that insane?
I knocked on the door and turned on my heel. I wanted to run. I canât do this. My chest was rising and falling fast from my heavy breathing and my heart is going to jump out of it any second now. This was taking too long. Sheâs obviously not home. Iâm leaving.
I put my hands in my pockets, ready to head home whenâŠ
âCharlie?â

Wait for me on the other side 3/8
Chapter Summary:
Rain... Fireworks... Romance?
https://archiveofourown.org/works/32948254/chapters/82052251

April 15, 2021 - 7:00
Loki, his heart pounding, approached the mailbox whose flag was raised.
He opened it and unfolded the small note with trembling fingers.
Thank you for this lovely attention. I haven't stopped wearing it since I received it.
You tell me that this connection with me allows you to open up to others and not feel alone anymore and you ask me if I want to continue this correspondence?
I don't want to stop either!
I don't know if we'll ever meet, but I want to continue to get to know you and for you to get to know me.
Tell me what you like.
Yours, Mobius.
Loki breathed a sigh of relief, put the letter in his pocket and left. He would have to work before he could write. This was no longer a matter of a quick word, he wanted to take time to think before he wrote.
As he walked through the school gates, although he loved his job, for once he couldn't wait for the day to be over.
April 17, 2019
Mobius was sitting in what had become his special Loki spot, the armchair in front of the bay window, a steaming cup of coffee next to him, reading Loki's latest letter.
I love Norse mythology and my work.
My favorite cocktail is Gimlets, gin and lime.
This brings me to my favorite color: green.
I have a sweet tooth, I like all kinds of sweets and pastries, and on the other hand I also like everything spicy.
I like quiet evenings reading and listening to music.
I like Jane Austen, The Brontë sisters and Paulo Coehlo.
I like to use metaphors but I have heard that they are not always great.
And although I can't stand violence, I like daggers, especially old ones.
Oh and I forgot, I like the house on the hill.
Mobius promised himself to go and see in Sylvie's antique weapons store if she had any antique daggers.
I can't stand cruelty, condescension, and lies.
And although they are green I hate peas.
Mobius laughed at the last sentence, he finished his coffee and went to get his notepad to start writing.
April 19, 2021
Loki, sitting cross-legged on his couch with Croki's head on his leg, was reading Mobius' latest letter.
I like to take watches apart and put them back together, to see the mechanism inside. They are all different.
I like to walk in the streets of New York and discover places by chance.
I like to draw, or rather make sketches that I never finish.
I like whiskey, Jack Daniels, and occasionally a good glass of red French Bordeaux wine.
I like all kinds of music, but my preference is for jazz.
I don't like lies, preconceived judgments, and gratuitous meanness, well, just plain meanness.
And I also like the house on the hill.
How did you end up living there anyway?
Loki read the letter again, folded it up and put it in the little box with the others before going to bed and thinking about what he would answer the next day.
April 21, 2019
Mobius went out still in his robe because it was a day of rest. He was surprised to see that Loki had already answered if he was to believe the little flag. He refused to question the fact that his heartbeat had accelerated.
He went to get the letter, then read it in front of his breakfast, Croki at his feet.
I rented it after college. It was the strangest place I had ever seen. I couldn't imagine anyone building it. Or... I couldn't imagine anyone building it and not living in it. I liked the way it sort of...hovered over the water. I loved that path that led to it. I don't know why, it has a strange, timeless charm.
April 23, 2021
Loki, on break between classes, took the letter out of his pocket and read it again.
Yes, the fact that you have to walk so much to get to the front door and that it's uphill, it's like you have to earn the right to enter the house. Every time you enter the house, it's like you're embarking on a quest whose prize is the right to enter.
I'm sorry, I must sound eccentric.
April 24, 2019
During his lunch break, and all day, he read that simple phrase from Loki over and over again.
Don't apologize, you can be eccentric. You can be whatever you want.
Mobius had always felt different, both in his personal and professional life choices, and this simple phrase eased some of his inner struggles. He couldn't ignore the warm feeling in his chest.
*********
A few weeks passed. The wind was blowing violently on a late spring day in New York. Loki was walking rapidly towards the school. His phone started to vibrate in his pocket, he grabbed it to answer the call.
-Yes?
Loki lost the smile on his face.
-Look, this isn't easy for me either. You know that... no, I'm not mad that you called. I just... I'm sorry, I have to go to work and I...
He was approaching the school and didn't want to continue this conversation as more and more students came in.
-I don't think that's a good idea. No. Sigyn, I'm asking you not to come. Because we need more time... Especially if we want to stay friends. I just don't think we should... look, I'm on my way to work, we'll talk about it. Bye.
Loki sighed, shaking his head as he walked through the large front door.
" Already feeling demotivated?" asked Natasha as she greeted him with a smile.
"Oh no no!" protested Loki.
"That's good timing. Heimdall has caught the flu and we need someone to cover his classes while he's absent. Since you have an art degree, I was wondering if..."
"No worries! I'm happy to oblige."
"Perfect," Natasha thanked him, "You can check with the assistant about Heimdall's schedule and make arrangements then. Thank you Loki, really. If the exams weren't coming up, I wouldn't have asked you."
Loki replied, "No worries, really."
If anything, he was glad to see that even though he was the last one in and the youngest teacher, he was trusted.
At the end of the week, as he walked home with his arms full of groceries, he thought maybe he should have thought about it before saying yes.
Because he was exhausted.He hadn't realized how much time and energy it would take to handle two positions.
Fortunately, Heimdall was back at work on Monday.
Loki put his groceries in the car and thought he'd stop by the house on the hill before heading home.
When he arrived, the little flag was up.
He took the letter and opened it.
Hi, pen pal. You haven't written in a while. I hope all is well.
You actually I
This is ridiculous, just a few words to write and it makes me sound like a babbling teenager.
Well I'm writing it down: I MISS YOU
It was obvious that the last words had been written with force.
Loki felt a strange warm feeling in his chest. He had also hugely missed the correspondence, so he hurried to answer on the spot and put the letter in the box before going home.
**********
Parking the car in front of the mailbox, Mobius chose to ignore the butterflies in his stomach as he saw the little flag raised.
He took the letter out of the box and once he got home, Croki fed, he went to his favorite place to read the letter.
It has been a difficult week.
I couldn't get away from work and only had the strength to go to bed at night. I can't remember the last time I looked up at the sky, or saw a damn tree. That's what I miss. The nature around me.
It's not so bad when I'm busy. It's when I have a minute to breathe, to look around, that it seems really hard. I wonder what I'm doing here, alone, in this gray city. I miss the trees.
PS: I missed you too
June 15, 2019 - 9:00 pm.
In the evening, Mobius left the house with a small tree in the pickup's trailer. He was driving towards the city.
June 15, 2021 - 9:30 pm
In the middle of the walk from school to his apartment, Loki saw the black rain clouds gathering in the sky. Suddenly there was a rumble of thunder in the distance and as he was on the home stretch, the rain began to pour.
June 15, 2019 - 9:35 PM
Arriving at 105 MacDougal Street - Greenwich Village, obviously still under construction, Mobius parked the pickup and pulled a shovel and the tree from the trailer. He began digging a hole outside the construction site that would become Loki's apartment building. Once finished, he began planting the tiny, fragile tree.
June 15, 2021 - 9:35 pm
Loki was completely soaked as he walked the last few yards to his front door. He struggled to find his keys, dropped them, and grew more and more frustrated as the rain poured down on him, when suddenly it stopped. He was baffled, as thunder and lightning continued to flash across the sky, and the rain continued to fall all around him, but not on him.
He looked up.
Above him were the dense green leafy branches of a young tree that formed a canopy swaying in the rain right above Loki. It hadn't been there a second ago, but now it was sheltering him, and Loki was stunned.
June 15, 2019 - 9:37pm
Mobius smiled as he swung the shovel into the pickup's trailer before heading home.
June 15, 2021 - 9:37 pm
Loki, overcome with emotion, broke into a smile and whispered to Mobius, even though he couldn't hear him, "Thank you."
Raindrops fell through the green branches as Loki danced under the tree, his face to the sky.
*********
2019 - A few days later
Casey stood on the small path in front of Mobius' house, "Wow!!!"
Mobius motioned for him to follow him inside.Casey entered, still stunned by the house.
"So, this is where you're hiding?"
Mobius replied with a smile, "Yeah.You want a beer?"
"Yeah thanks."
Mobius pulled two beers out of the fridge and they went to the chairs in front of the bay window and talked about the house for a while. Casey had lots of questions.
Casey took a sip and his face became more serious.
"Mobius. I didn't just come here to escape my pathetic existence in the city. I came to talk to you about TK and ask you to come back with us. We need you."
Mobius shook his head, "TK? Sorry Casey but no."
"I'm sure if you talked to her..." insisted Casey.
"Forget it.Ravonna doesn't want me to come back. I don't want to come back. Everyone's happier now."
Casey argued, "What about your work? Your work was awesome. Even she admitted that. Look, I know it's hard, but if you put your problems with her aside, you-"
"I said forget it." replied Mobius, this time with a sharp tone before softening, "Sorry. It's just... I like it here. And I like my job at the store."
Casey nodded and accepted the answer before asking, curious again, "Are you in a relationship with anyone?"
Mobius answered after a slight hesitation that didn't go unnoticed, "No."
"Why did you hesitate?"
"I didn't hesitate."
"Yes, you did."
Mobius insisted, "I...I'm not involved with anyone, okay?"
"Okay." replied Casey, who smiled playfully before continuing, "All I'm saying is that maybe you should think about the future."
Mobius began to laugh. He couldn't stop himself.
Casey looked at him as if he had gone crazy, "What?"
Mobius continued to laugh.
"What?"
**********
A few days later, with Loki's letter open in the passenger seat of his pickup, Mobius drove to the train station near Brooklyn College of Arts.
He parked, picked up the letter and got out, heading for the entrance to the station.
Around this time two years ago, I lost something.
In the Brooklyn train station.
I was going back to my parents and left it on the platform. See if you can find it for me. I won't tell you what it is.
Then put it in the mailbox. It's your mission if you choose to accept it.
Mobius could not resist a challenge. So he found himself at that moment looking for an object he knew nothing about. He walked through the station. There were a few people. He looked for a single man and saw none. Just a few families and an elderly couple.
He continued to search when suddenly, through the window overlooking the station platform, he saw a young man with long black hair get up and get ready to board the train.
Mobius wasn't sure if it was him, but he felt deep down that he was Loki, and he was amazingly handsome. Mobius hurried through the door and onto the station platform. He was about to head towards him when he stopped.
The young man had embraced a woman who had her back to Mobius.
They kissed and said goodbye.
Neither of them noticed that Loki, for it was undoubtedly Loki, had left a book on the bench behind him. Mobius saw it, but it would be awkward to approach and interrupt the kiss. He hesitated.
The train driver announced the final boarding.
Loki separated from the woman, obviously reluctantly, and boarded the train.
The woman Loki had kissed did not move and watched the train pull away until it was completely out of sight. He did not notice the book. Mobius watched him leave and once he was gone, he approached the bench. He looked at the book that Loki had left behind. It was a well-worn copy of Persuasion by Jane Austen. It had definitely been Loki.
********
Loki impatiently went to the mailbox, thinking that perhaps Mobius had already been to the station.
He opened it, and was disappointed when he didn't see the book and just a little note.
WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON THE 4TH OF JULY?
Loki, a little disappointed, answered immediately on the same piece of paper and just as he was about to leave, he heard the characteristic sound of the little flag being raised and went back to the box and opened it. He grabbed the small paper and unfolded it.
L: Going to the fireworks, I guess.
I go every year.ïżœïżœ Why?
M: Would you like to watch them together? From the cliff. The fireworks on the lake are beautiful
L: I know, I watched them from the house the time I lived there.
You're not asking me out, are you?
M: No, no. I just thought it might be nice to do the same thing, that's all.
L: The same thing, two years apart.
M: It's better than staying home.
L: Okay. Let's go see the fireworks.
M: See you in 10 days then. July 4th at 10pm in front of the mailbox.
Mobius did not wait for an answer, and walked happily back to the house. Even though he had denied it, it still felt like a date of some sort.
The butterflies began to fly again.
July 4, 2019/2021 - 10:00 pm.
Two years apart, in the same place, Loki and Mobius sat next to the mailbox. Mobius brought one of the seats from the garden furniture and Loki brought an old folding camping seat in his car.
He is armed with his pad and pencil.
The strange and timeless conversation started again, always punctuated by the little flag that went up and down.
L: Did you go to the station? I never got my book.
M: Let me keep it for a while. I want to read it.
By the way, there's something I wanted to ask you.
Who was the girl at the station?
Your fiancée?
Why didn't you tell me about her?
Loki thought it sounded like Mobius was jealous, but didn't want to get the wrong idea.
L: You don't tell me about your love life either.
M: Because I don't have one unfortunately.
My God, I can't believe you didn't tell me you were married.
L: I'm not married. We broke up when I moved to New York.
I'm on my own.
The fireworks just started.
M: They started here too.
I'm sure yours are better, since it's supposed to get better every year.
L: Probably. Let's enjoy the sight.
Afterwards, during the fireworks, the flag did not move for a while. Then when the grand finale was over, and the silence fell, the flag suddenly rose, making Loki jump.
M: At the station, when I saw you... I didn't expect... I mean, you didn't tell me you were so gorgeous.
Loki read these words and could not suppress a small gasp of surprise. He looked around embarrassed even though he knew for a fact that no one was there.
L: Not fair.
You saw me but I still don't know what you look like.
Mobius ran his hand over his face and figured that since it was truth night, he might as well go for it.
M: You're right. I wouldn't mind knowing what I'll look like in two years. Why don't we meet in the future and tell me what you think?
Loki thought about it and then looked at his watch, it was 10:43 pm, he took a deep breath, suddenly excited and nervous
L: Why don't you call me on July 4, 2021 at 10:44 pm
As Loki finished the last line of the "4" the phone rang.
He almost fell out of his chair.
He steadied himself with a pounding heart and picked up, "Hello?"

If Only I Knew

Status: ONGOING (this is my first AU AHHH Iâm excited to write the next couple of parts, but I hope this story gets a lot of love :~>)
Pairing: Jungkook x Reader
Summary: Y/N abruptly moved to Seoul after spending 21 years living alone in her hometown, Busan after the death of her parents. She now discovers through her best friends that drama can be a lot to handle, but as she starts to meet new people, she discovers that she had completely forgotten an important part of her past.
Warnings: mention of guns, blood and violence,
Genre: angst, WHOLE LOT OF FLUFF, slow burn
Word Count: 3.2k
Part One:
I step out of the bus and a gust of cold wind hits my face as I board the train. Why did I think of not wearing enough layers in the middle of winter? I take my seat and look out the window to see the number of people who are about to board the train. I grab my phone and start listening to ILYSB. I like LANY, their music is perfect for travel.
I know this isn't such an interesting event in my life since I know that many other people have flown to see Seoul, capital of Korea but hey, give me a break. Iâm finally going to meet my best friends after living alone for 4 years. This is what pays to be travelling, a provincial girl like me? I doubt I would ever survive the city life.
As a 2 hours pass, I wake up to hear the advisory that Iâm about to reach Seoul.
I look out the window, close my eyes, and whisper. Â
"Mom, Dad, I made it to Seoul."
I lost both my parents during a hostage that happened in our own home. My mom happened to answer the door and was shot first. The culprit saw me and asked me to go get my dad. At first I was confused, but it so happened that there was an issue with the family business and this guy was after the money. I was 13 at that time but I still couldn't figure out why something like this had to happen to our family. However, as soon as my dad had agreed to the terms of the killer, he pointed his gun at me and pulled the trigger. I closed my eyes to prepare myself for the pain that comes next but instead, I felt warm liquid on my hands and felt something heavy fall on me, it was my dad. I screamed at the sight of both my parents suddenly vanishing from this world, a sudden pain struck my chest and I couldn't breathe. I fall to the ground slowly losing my vision as I see the blue and red lights of police cars approaching my house.
"Miss? Are you okay miss?" the person right next to me calls my attention and brings me back to reality, "Oh, yes I'm fine. Have we arrived?" I look around to see almost everyone out of the train. "Would you need any help getting off? Are you new to the city?" the lady asks me. I shake my head and give her a smile as I head down the aisle to the exit.
I follow the rest of the passengers to exit the station as I turn my phone on to contact Jennie and Lisa, my two best friends. Their parents had offered to get us three an apartment we could all share just so that they could both keep me company. Lisa and Jennie aren't sisters if you were wondering, they just had agreed to live under one roof with me and I'm eternally grateful for that. Not to mention theyâre idol trainees.
"Y/N?" I turn my head to see Lisa's straight black hair, "Lisa!!!" We both jump around and giggle, "Wait but where's Jennie?" "Oh, she's getting us another cab because your arrival got delayed." She helps grab my luggage and we both start catching up with each other, as if weâve never spoken in weeks. This was the first time I had ever seen both Lisa and Jennie in person, all our moms were best friends when they were younger too but since we couldn't visit them often, we met and talked through video calls.
"Well if it isn't our beautiful foreign friend Y/N." I turn around and meet Jennieâs eyes, "JENNIE!!!" I run to hug her and Lisa joins in and I finally don't feel alone anymore. "Girls, the cab is waiting outside, we better hurry." On our way to our new apartment we were all catching up with each other as if we really didn't talk as much already. "Oh hey, Y/N you have to make sure that you're ready to go to school by 7am okay?" Jennie cheerfully said. I was so confused, school started at 8am so why would I have to be ready an hour before school when our place was literally like 10 minutes away. "Wait why do we have to be ready an hour before school? I know our place is like 15 minutes away from school. It's not like you guys take that long to fix yourselves up right?" Lisa and Jennie smiled at me suspiciously, "Well....Y/N you know, you may not know everything about us yet..." "What's there not to know? I've known you guys since the moment I was able to talk." Lisa elbowed me softly, "Weâve got new friends! Like actual men type of friends." My eyes opened wide despite the tiredness I've been experiencing,
How could these two end up befriending guys and just suddenly "forgetting" to tell me about it when they know and are fully aware that we all donât normally interact with the opposite gender? Â
"Fine, I'll be ready by 7am on Monday." I say as I roll my eyes, "YAYYY I'M SO EXCITEDDD!!!" both of them scream.
Ugh, 30 minutes have just passed since I arrived in Seoul and I'm already experiencing stress.
As soon as we got off the cab, both my friends had rushed to bring down all my belongings so that I could finally take a look at the place we rented out. Jennie reaches her hand out to me and in her palm, my key to our place. "Hey, have you guys figured out how we'll be getting to school on Monday?" Jennie giggles, "Y/N, youâre lucky we attend the same school. But the guys will pick us up! Plus..they promised to bring Jungkook." Jennie winks at me and flashes me her brightest smile.
Jungkook? I know I've heard that name somewhere, but I just can't remember where.
"We're here!!" The elevator door opens, "Apartment 735" I mutter to myself. I walk along the brightly lit corridor. "732....733...734..." I continue counting, "735!!" The girls rush to my side, "Y/N, this is your first time in our apartment, so you'll have the honor of opening the door with your key" Lisa says with a smile. I reach out for my keys, close my eyes and take a deep breath before turning the key to unlock the door. I hear the light switch turn on and I open my eyes. The apartment was beautiful. I walk in to see the kitchen, it has a small island where I could serve meals to my friends. I honestly enjoy cooking to relieve myself from whatever stresses me out, whether it be school, people or something about football. Iâve loved sports for as long as I can remember but it gets frustrating since I could be quite competitive.
I walked into the next room and I saw our living room, there was a large L-shaped sofa sitting in front of a huge television. In between the sofa and TV, I saw a small wooden table that is most probably multipurpose as being both a study desk and a place to put our snacks when we binge on shows during our free days. Beside the sofa I see a balcony that showcases a beautiful scenery of the city. I walk out and feel the cold breeze on my cheeks, I look up to the sky and I see that the sky had a welcoming gift for me as well. The stars greeted me as they shined brightly upon the night sky and I just can't help but admire the night sky. To my right, I see a bean bag that fits 2 people. I plop down to the bean bag and stargaze for a while.
Mom? Dad? I know you can hear me, I promise I'll make you proud, I'll succeed here in Seoul and become a great doctor.
"Y/N?" I snap back to reality and see Jennieâs head appear, "You haven't even seen your room yet! Come onnnnn!!" I stand back up and follow the girls in another small hallway, there I see 3 doors. "So basically, it's not that we don't want you to have your own room but we wanted one room to be our sort of walk-in closet because I mean who has not dreamed of having one?" I open the first door I see and the place is indeed full of clothes. There were 3 closets in the room, each of the closet doors have our first name initials on it to indicate who owns which closet. I laugh at my best friends, we all enjoy watching all those Barbie movies where they have spectacular closets and I guess you can say that this is the closest we can get to our childhood dreams.
I walk out of the room and take a few steps into the hallway. Lisa rushes to get past me and hold the doorknob, "Okay Y/N, this room is a little different. I know it's not really our style whatsoever but we created a study room." I scrunch my eyebrows, "A study room? Really now? For all of us or for me?" Lisa tucks a stray hair into her ear, "Well, more for you than for us since we know how hard you work and how much more you'll be working to get into med school. But it's a double purpose for a practice room for us too!" I take a step back to look at both my best friends and their grinning faces,
What did I do to deserve these two psychos in my life?
I call them in for a group hug, "You guys, I know you want to make me feel like there's nothing missing anymore in my life and I love you guys for that. I hope you all still remember I'm not a robot though and even if I'll be working hard to get into med school, I'll still be around to party and experience what any normal teenager should be experiencing." I hear Jennie sniffling at my right, "Aw Jen" I rub her back soothingly, "We know that Y/N, we just want the best for you too. We'll always be here rooting for you any time." We all take a step back, "Okay!" Lisa says, "Guys, it's our first night in our own apartment and we're already crying." Everybody laughs, "So I guess this last room is our room?" "It sure is." Jennie opens the door and I see three twin beds side by side. Just like our "walk-in closet" our first name initials are hanging above our head, brightly lit to recognize who owns which bed. I see my initial on top of the bed that lies in between both Lisa and Jennie's.
I drop my luggage off at our closet area and plop back down into the bean bag on the balcony. I take a deep breath in and close my eyes.
This is the start of my new life.
------------------------------------------------------------------
"Take my hands now, you are the cause of my euphoria"
I woke up to the sound of Euphoria, my favorite song in the whole wide-
"WHEN IâM WITH YOU I'M IN UTOPIA"
And of course, the voices of my two best friends singing their hearts out and getting the lyrics messed up.
"Y/N!!! Come on!! It's your first day of school. Did you forget about our breakfast plan?"
Right. Their so-called "breakfast plan" before school. I stand up from my bed and stretch a little before I start making my bed. I stop by the closet first and pick my outfit for today, I pick out a tied crop top, white sneakers, and jeans. I grab my bathrobe and head to the bathroom. I step into the shower and play some music that would help wake me up and get ready for the day. As I continue to wash my hair, I hear a knock on my door,Â
"Y/N! Are you done?!!"Â
I roll my eyes. Jeez, they finally got themselves guy friends and now they're going crazy about finishing on time. I wrap a towel around my head to dry my hair. I head back to our dressing room and open my luggage. As I look for my blow dryer and straightener, Lisa barges into the room,Â
"Y/N Y/L/N, you seem to be too relaxed this morning. You have 30 minutes left to get ready and if you're not ready by then I'm going to drag you to the car." "Don't worry Jen, I'll be done on time. Now can you please stop bothering me so that I can start dressing up?"
I quickly blow dry my hair and put it up in a messy bun. With the remaining time left, this is the best I can do to tame my natural curls. I look at myself in the mirror and check to see if something is missing. I reach out to get my makeup bag and I put on a little blush and add a little lip tint. I search through my accessory bag and look for my small stud earrings. I get my glasses from the table and look at myself in the mirror once more. I'm ready for my first day of school. I leave the dressing room and meet my best friends in our kitchen.Â
"Oh my goodness Y/N, let's go! We're already 5 minutes late." I grab the schoolbag I prepared last night before heading to bed and leave the apartment. We head to the basement by elevator since Lisa got her license just recently. "Wait Lisa, if you had your license already by the time you picked me up, why did you guys use a taxi to pick me up?" "Oh, uh..I was too lazy to drive that late at night so I just got us a taxi." She starts the car and we head to the exit.
It was my first time ever seeing Seoul in the morning light, the sun hit the skyscrapers so beautifully that it was as if the city was welcoming me as their new citizen. Numerous cars were already out by the time we hit the road because of the rush hour most of them were experiencing. Our school, Seoul National University was just 10 minutes away, our apartment was located a couple blocks away As I was looking out the window, I saw some sort of diner come into view. It looked huge for my definition of a diner since I always saw diners as small joints made for meals, but this diner was different. As Lisa pulled up in the parking area I could see a little bit of the inside, students like us were dining in there as well and there seemed to be a game room on the other side of the dining area. Â It's around mid-February so the breeze was still cool, Busan was a little warmer during the winter so I had to find a way to adjust to the cooler weather in the city. As my friends and I make our way to the entrance, I notice three heads that turn our way. As we enter the diner however, the smell of freshly made bread, waffles, and eggs hits me and I feel my mouth water. I've been starving and I couldn't wait to try whatever the diner had been serving.
I see three boys in a booth and I make eye contact with one of them, the weird thing is...I felt butterflies in my tummy. I've seen those eyes somewhere, he feels familiar which is of course impossible because I've never met these people in my entire life.
I've never had any guy friends at all. I've always thought about making my parents proud and everything so I focused on getting good scores on all my tests so that I could get into med school. This is all so new to me...having friends of the opposite species. I mean okay, I've watched rom-coms and movies that revolve around love, seeing your friends being treated the way I see couples act in the movies is something I never thought I would be interacting with boys at this point of my life.
"Y/N? Earth to Y/N!" I snap back to reality as Jennie calls my attention. "This is Jimin, Taehyung and the guy still sitting in the booth is Jungkook." Jungkook? I think I know a Jungkook from back home but it's still pretty hard to remember a lot of things. "Sorry, I'm being rude." Jungkook stood up and walked to me, "Jungkook." He held out a hand for me to shake, "Y/N." I say in reply. As our hands touch, there's a familiar warmth that gives me goosebumps. I quickly try to mask the reddness in my cheeks. We all take a seat in the booth and based on the impression of these boys, they seem like athletes. "Hey Y/N," Jimin says, "You should try their Bacon and Waffles here. They sell out like crazy in the mornings." I take a quick glance on the menu and scan quickly for the meal Jimin was talking about. I raise my hand excitedly to call in the waitress to take our orders, "1 Bacon and Waffles, 2 Pancakes and, 3 orders of the Waffles and Chicken all with Orange Juice on the side." The waitress says, "Thanks." I give her a smile in return.
I glance back at my friends after giving the waitress the menu I was holding, Jungkook and I make direct eye contact, his big brown doe eyes, another flood of goosebumps crawl on my skin as he turns away to talk to Taehyung. Why is it that Jungkook looks at me as if heâs seen me before?
The waitress returns with the orders and I start to take a bite off my first meal of the day.
âSo Y/N, how was your first night in the city?â Taehyung asked as he picked a strawberry off one of the pancakes, âI stayed up in the balcony just looking at the city lights, the stars were very bright last night. I couldnât stay up for so long though, it got really cold.â âY/N loves gazing at stars, she used to try to make Jen and I see the stars in Busan every time we video called.â Lisa says giggling, Jimin gasps and turns to point at Jungkook while eating his waffle, âJungkook used to drag us out of our homes just to meet at a park to stargaze!â Jungkook shyly looks away and takes a sip of his juice, âYahâ he finally speaks, âYou make me sound like a really weird kid Hyungâ I laugh at his statement, âDonât be too embarrassed Kook, looking at the stars are my favorite past timeâ He tenses up with the nickname as he looks at me, I realize I just gave this guy a nickname on the first day we met. Shit. âUh, is it okay that I call you Kook?â He nods in return as a smile crept onto his face.

Randomly thinking about the AHIAR couple đ I hope Steveâs taking better care of her and the twins đ„°
Hey, thank you for writing. đđđ Well, an interesting thing happened during quarantine...
Warnings: Mentions of Covid-19, pregnancy hormones and all the frustrations that go with them, sexy talk, masturbation, voyeurism.
Words:Â 2.7k
~~~
It started in the middle of March. The 16th.
Despite Steveâs efforts to keep you in a happy bubble where you anticipated your upcoming wedding, the birth of your twins, you did keep informed on current events. Covid-19 was most of what you saw in the news and it worried you. It wasnât just you. You had family, friends out there.
It started out as something that was affecting people somewhere else, in another country, on other continents. Then it was here in the US. But it was a hoax. Until it wasnât.
Steve had been sent off Friday with Tony, Nick Fury, Natasha, and Rhodey for some diplomatic function centered around NATO that couldnât be put off. That it was important enough for both Steve and Nat to go was telling. You knew from Bette that Nat tried everything to get out of it. Bette stayed with Delilah and you talked to her each day, comparing notes on your pregnancy.
What would you do without Bette?
Heâd never admit to it, but you knew that Steve didnât want to go right now. He didnât want to leave you ever. But heâd been very unhappy to have to leave with worries about the deadly virus escalating and in your âdelicate conditionâ as he called it.
Still, you found it interesting when he left that he didnât give you a War and Peace list of what you could and couldnât do while he was gone. Normally, you were told what could wait until he got back like meeting Claire for lunch. Steve would call your mother and arrange for her to come to your house instead of the other way around for a visit. Heâd make grocery lists, so you didnât need to go to the store.
Maybe, Steve was letting up on how overprotective he could be. Impressive considering you were carrying the twins.
Oh, no. You had it wrong.
You decided a trip to the library that clear Monday morning might lift your spirits. It was chilly so you were wrapped up in your heavy gray coat, youâd pulled on your boots. Youâd locked the door behind you and made it down the front stairs.
You were halfway down the walk when the Iron Legion droid dropped heavily in front of you with a loud clang. You screamed in fright â heâd come out of nowhere â and collapsed onto the sidewalk.
âMiss, please go back into your home,â the droid said in a pleasant enough voice. It was armored like War Machine and took a step closer. âA stay-at-home order is pending in New Yorkâs legislature and will be in effect shortly to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 infection. Please return to the safety of your home.â
Your hand was on your chest. You were panting. Having an enormous armored droid fall out of the sky and scare you shitless? You could have lived your entire life without that.
 ***
 After that, youâd gone back into the house and made yourself some tea to calm down. Youâd watched the news. Okay, yeah. Things appeared to be getting worse. Within the next few days, stay-at-home orders were being issued. One would go into effect Sunday night at 8 PM.
Wow.
Bruce Banner contacted you by video chat will you were making yourself some dinner later that day. After chit-chatting, Bruce finally got around to the reason he got in touch with you.
âYouâre aware that we have a stay-at-home order coming into effect this weekend?â he asked his dark eyes kind.
You nodded.
âWhen Steve gets a chance, heâs going to be in touch and heâs a little freaked out about everything,â Bruce explained patiently. âTonyâs agreed to have some modifications made to your place and Natâs to keep all of you safe, okay? Just giving you a headâs up.â
Steve? Freaked out? No shit.
âI wish someone would have given me the heads up on the Iron Legion dude that scared the shit out of me for going to the library,â you told him.
When he didnât know what you meant, you told him the story. It was funny now but at the timeâŠ
Then you had a thought. âWait, can Steve get exposed to this while heâs out?â
Bruce shook his head. âSteve and Bucky canât catch or carry viruses like that with their metabolism. Steve will be fine. We just need to make sure he doesnât bring it in the house to you. Hence the modifications.â
You nodded. That made sense.
âYou feeling okay?â Bruce asked before ending the chat.
âIâm fine,â you told him. Even the morning sickness was backing off.
You did talk to Steve on the phone after dinner and he did apologize to you. For everything. For the Iron Legion droid. For not being there. For the work crew coming to do whatever they were going to do. For not being there again.
You assured him you were fine. You were. You loved him.
 ***
 When Bruce said the work crew was coming to make modifications, you had no idea that would be at just before eleven that night. The AI let you know that theyâd arrived, advising you of who was in charge with an image of the man. Friday also advised you that the credentials of each man had been reviewed by Tony Stark himself.
Well, that was fucking great. But youâd been asleep and you had a hard time getting back to sleep once awake.
Throwing on a robe, you wandered out until you found the man in charge and talked to him for a moment. He apologized for the time and for their presence, but he explained that it was urgent the modifications be made to keep you safe. He explained what to request to make from Friday to cancel the noise and bid you goodnight.
Despite all the assurances of your safety with the crew from Stark Industries there, and the noise-canceling, you couldnât sleep with strange people in your house. You read until you eventually fell asleep. Somewhere around 4? 5 AM?
 ***
 The âmodificationsâ made to your house? YeahâŠ
There were disinfectant tunnels at any entrance to the outside combined with health scanners that instructed anyone entering or leaving the house of proper procedure. It took your temperature, disinfected you. You were honestly surprised that Haz-Mat suits werenât involved.
A special vestibule had been added for you. You were reminded three times a day to go to the vestibule to take your temperature, have your blood pressure assessed, and to do a full-body scan. It seemed a little excessive but okay, for the babies, you played along.
It would have been nice to know what was going on beforehand.
Steve was grateful you played along. He told you when he called that night that he was sorry for all the extra steps, but he needed to know the three of you were safe. That he cared so much melted your heart.
That day.
Four days later, however, when you decided that you just wanted to walk around in your yard and stretch your legs, you learned the hard way that the AI wasnât allowing you out of the house. For any reason.
What was this about?
You couldnât reach Bruce. You knew you had to wait to hear from Steve. Friday said only that her protocols didnât allow you to physically leave the house for any reason that didnât involve a life-endangering emergency for you or the babies.
You werenât happy. Sure, being âlocked downâ wasnât exactly new to you but still⊠You needed fresh air, sunlight. It wasnât exactly warm enough to open the windows. What were you supposed to do? You bitched at the AI at some length.
Then felt horribly guilty about it, knowing it was recorded and could be accessed at any time. Tony would get a good laugh.
The AI woke you up from your nap later, announcing that another work crew.
Are you fucking kidding me?
By that night, one of your downstairs guest bedrooms had been converted into a whole-ass sunroom dressed up to look like an Aruban hotel room. The Ai gave you a virtual tour, explaining the ceiling of the room was a low-key, high-tech tanning bed type of thing so you could get the Vitamin C you whined to Friday that you needed.
Fuck my life.
 ***
 The breaking point came with the holographic images.
You knew Natasha hadnât been trying to scare the shit out of you. She was your friend and you appreciated her checking on you.
That being said, when she appeared to you in your kitchen, looking just as she always did just slightly diaphanous, you screamed and dropped your coffee cup. Fortunately, you hadnât yet poured coffee into it and you missed your feet.
Not so fortunately, youâd peed a little.
It had been a nice visit. Nat had explained that since you wouldnât be able to see each other in person as often, the holograms would be like the real thing. Okay, you agreed with that. But then you told her how everything had gone since Monday and she understood, she really did.
Youâd reached the end of your proverbial rope.
You prepared a nice relaxing bath for yourself that night, trying to ease all the tension away. But trying was the operative word. A holographic visit was incoming. It was then you thought that youâd ask Friday to have you approve any incoming holographic visits from this point on.
With no warning, Steve appeared in the bathroom to you just as you had gotten yourself settled in your tub, your slightly bigger breasts revealed just above the ton of bubbles youâd added to your bath.
You did enjoy the way he stood there, hands on hips, and just stared at you. He looked vexed, that look on his face with his jaw locked. Â But it melted away pretty fast as his gaze roamed over you in the tub.Â
Oh, he hadnât been expecting that.
Steve dropped his head, his entire demeanor something like defeat.
âSteve?â you asked, concerned. âIs there something wrong?â
Glancing back up, he grinned. âHow much time do you have?â
You laughed, grabbing your scrunchy from the side of the tub and pulling your hair up and out of the way with it. You stretched up, giving him a good view of your bared upper body and he was looking. You liked the way his tongue swiped at his lower lip, the heated expression taking over his handsome face.
âI have all the time in the world,â you told him sweetly. âI canât even go out into my own yard it seems⊠so nothing but time.â
Steve watched you closely as you grabbed your loofa next and began to scrub away the worries of the day. You moved slowly, deciding to put on a show for him.
âIâm so sorry, Sweetheart,â Steve told you. âWith this virus, we just couldnât take any chances with you or the babies.â
You nodded, hummed. âI understand,â you told him with resignation, washing your arms and neck. âAnd I appreciate your looking out for us. I really do.â
Steve blew out an exhale, the tension in his body only grew as you watched.
âWhen will you be home?â you asked innocently, carefully running the loofa over each of your breasts, the tips hard little points displayed in the shiny bubbles. âIâve missed you so much.â
Steveâs gaze was riveted to the path of your loofa, only pushing up your confidence and need to torture him.
He swore under his breath.
âIâm actually here at the compound,â Steve explained bitterly. âBruce assures me that he doesnât think I can be infected because of the serum. Â But since not a lot is known about its communicability, heâs putting Nat and myself in quarantine for fourteen days before we can come home to you.â
Oh, you had to fight to keep the smile off your face at that news. It made complete sense to you, truly it did.
And it provided you with a priceless opportunity for a little payback for the last several days.
âTwo weeks?â You pouted. âYouâve already been gone a week, Steve.â
âIâm sorry.â He really was. âBut at least now I can see you every day.â
Seeing is all you can do, Steve.
âI guess itâs better than nothing,â you whined. âWish you were here.â You did your best to reach your back, but you made it work. âI could really use your help.â
Scrubbing his hand down his face, over his beard, Steve looked very unhappy right now.
âThe rest of the assignment went well?â You asked, working on your legs next.
Steve nodded, watching you closely.  âIt went just fine⊠How have you been? Have you been sleeping? Eating well? How are you feeling?â
You shook your head as you ran the loofa up over your knee, up your inner thigh. You kept your movements slow, wanting him to have a good view.
âWith Friday, canât you just look up the reports? I have to go into a booth they installed three times a day to get scanned and have my temperature taken.â It was your turn to sound bitter.
âIâm so sorry.â Steve meant it, watching intently as you moved the loofa beneath the water. The bubbles kept him from seeing exactly what you were doing.
You let a small moan slip past your lips as you caressed your lower lips with it.
âYou know, Sweetheart, if I didnât know better,â Steve said slowly, âIâd think you were trying to get me riled up here.â
Your smile â you hoped â was sweet. âNow why would I do that?â
Steveâs holograph moved closed to the tub, shaking his head. âShow me the loofa,â he ordered.
Was he really using his Captainâs voice on you?
Sighing in reluctance because it had felt good on your aching flesh, you lifted the loofa out of the water.
âPut it on the side of the tub, please,â Steve instructed.
What was this?
âWere you using it between your thighs?â he asked frankly.
You nodded. âIâm taking a bath, Steve.â
âBut that wasnât all you were doing, was it?â he wanted to know.
Even in the holograph, you could see the outline of his length hard in his jeans.
With a pout, you shook your head.
Again, Steve swore under his breath.
âOh, Sweetheart,â Steveâs smile pure sin. âWhen I get out of quarantine, when I get my hands on youâŠâ
You slid your hand down over the swell of your baby bump to your center. Using your fingers, you started teasing your clit, your lips falling open as you touched yourself just the way you liked. It didnât feel nearly as good as his fingers would, but having him watch and unable to reach you?
Priceless.
âYouâll what?â you challenged him in a harsh whisper, teasing yourself. âYou said it yourself⊠Mmm⊠Iâm in a delicate condition. Itâs not like you can⊠really punish me.â
His grin widened. âCanât I? There are so many things I can do to you when I get my hands on you.â
Sliding two fingers into your aching channel, a moan pulled from your throat. And oh, it was so satisfying to see his hand slide down to that magnificent erection. You loved that he wanted you but couldnât get you.
At the same time, you were aching. You really needed him.
âLike what?â
Steve glanced back over his shoulder. Someone must have been walking in. Steve waved a hand and disappeared, ending the session.
Fuck.
You stayed there in the warm soapy water, pretending your fingers were his until you brought yourself off with a long, loud wail that echoed in the bathroom. It wasnât as satisfying as it would have been at his hands, but it was relief. It was something.
Finishing your bath, youâd pulled on pajamas, headed for your bedroom, thinking about a movie you wanted to watch. You saw the light on your phone flashing.
It was a text from Steve.
 SR: Iâll start a new session at 9 PM.
 That was twenty minutes from now.
 SR: Be on our bed and naked. Youâre going to finish what you started.
 And just like that, your core tightened in desire. You didnât know what he had in mind but you couldnât wait to find out.Â
 SR: I love you.
Chapter nineteen: âThe Long-Awaited Dateâ
Masterpost - Prev - Next
Warning(s): none
âââââââââ°â°âââââââââ
âââââââââ°â°âââââââââ
Thirty minutes later Bokuto sent you a message saying that he had already arrived at the hotel to pick you up. Emiko jumped off her bed with a big smile on her lips. When you told her about your date, she was too happy for you. Her plan had finally come to an end.Â
âHave a lot of fun, y/n!â she said as she walked you to the exit. âDon't worry, I'll keep Tendou busy while you're on your date. Do not be late!â
Emiko hugged you and you walked out the door to meet a nervous Bokuto, who had a bunch of broken flowers in his hand. Seeing you, his face flushed, and looking down he handed you the flowers.Â
âThank you... They are beautiful, but what happened to them?â you said with a small smile, taking his gift with both hands.Â
Bokuto laughed as he remembered what had happened. Then he began to explain the situation to you while walking towards a destination unknown to you.Â
âIt's really a funny story,â he laughed. âThere is a flower shop on the corner of my house, I bought some that seemed very nice, as you can see. But when I was walking towards your hotel, I noticed that there was a bee inside them! I got so scared that the flowers fell to the ground, and someone accidentally stepped on them.â
Koutarou let a laugh out of his mouth. Hearing him laugh, you did too. By laughing, the uncomfortable atmosphere had already vanished, the conversation was much more fluid, and there were no more silences that could cause more discomfort.Â
After fifteen minutes of walking, Bokuto stopped and pointed to your left, indicating that you had already reached your destination. Looking where he had pointed, you found a large building. A sign at the entrance indicated that you arrived at âFukurodani Academy'. It was the school where Koutarou went.
âDon't tell me we're going to play volleyball. I didn't bring suitable clothes to do it!â
Bokuto laughed once more, shaking his head; and with great courage, he took your hand to start leading you into the school.Â
It was not yet night, it was almost six in the afternoon so the sun was still in the sky. The school was quite bright, but there was no one on the grounds. Which scared you a bit, maybe you were trespassing. Like, you were doing illegal things. Forbidden things!Â
'I don't want to go to jail! I am very young!' you thought looking back and forth looking for the blue and red lights, which would indicate that the police were nearby. But despite frantically searching, no one was there besides you and Bokuto.Â
Koutarou was ahead of you, guiding you through the entire school until you reached the gym. He turned to see you and noticed your scared face.Â
âAre we trespassing?â you asked. âLook Bokuto, I like you, but I don't want to go to jail. I'm barely seventeen years old!â
âOh y/n, sorry. I should have told you beforeâ he said releasing your hand and opening the gym door. âThey let us come to train whenever we want, that's why we were able to enter. The police won't come to take us, I promise.â
Once inside the gym, a bit calmer, you saw a table in the middle of it, with two chairs next to it. On the table were two plates of food, and also a large pink cake.Â
The two of you walked to the middle of the court and sat on the chairs.Â
âI didn't know you were so romantic, Koutarou.â Just like the other time, Bokuto blushed when he heard his name come out of your mouth. Then you looked at what was on the plates: a large portion of your favorite food. âHow did you know that this is what I like the most?â
âEmiko told me... Well I asked her actuallyâ he said pouring water into a glass, and then he served you too. âAnd with the romantic thing, I don't think so. Akaashi, and the whole team as well, helped me do this. I also made this strawberry cake! It's not going to be as delicious as the one you made the other day, but give it a try!â
You blushed. You were flattered that not only had he done all this for you, but that he had also filled out your recipe, and tried to recreate it to surprise you.Â
Dinner flowed smoothly, the two of you laughing the entire time, talking about everything but volleyball. Just as you promised.Â
After finishing the meal, Bokuto cut the strawberry cake that he had made. To tell the truth, it was horrible. Raw on the inside and burned on the outside, your stomach wanted to vomit. But instead of spitting it out and expressing how disgusting it was, you decided it was better to try really hard to swallow the piece of cake and encourage him to keep practicing so that you could improve; even if you could tell that the kitchen wasn't Bokuto's strongest field.
It was getting late now, and the moon was already looming in the sky. It was time to go back to the hotel.
Of course, Bokuto accompanied you to where you were staying. Upon reaching the entrance, Koutarou took your hand and turned you around so you could see him.Â
âSo, I guess this is the goodbyeâŠâ he said with a little blush, but with a hint of sadness in his eyes.
âYepâ you didn't know what to say to him. You didn't want to leave yet, these days hadn't been enough to really get to know him.Â
âIâŠâ âI thinkâŠâ
You both said at the same time.
âYou first,â you said quickly. You needed a little more time before you could say something that comes from your heart.Â
âOkay⊠I know we don't know each other very well, but I do know that I want to. I want to know you even more, â Bokuto began, looking down more and more. All the courage he had inside him had been exhausted by taking you by the hand twice already. âMaybe I could come to visit Miyagi in a few weeks, or you can come here again, you can stay at my place! Only if you want, of course.â
Now you were the one blushing. Energy went through your body. You have never felt something like this before.
âSeems right to me. You can also stay at my house if you come during the weekend. You might not know this, but I live inside the school from Monday to Fridayâ you said and Bokuto raised his head. âI think I should go now. Thanks for everything, Bokuto, I've had a great time.â
Bokuto said goodbye to you and finally released your hand. Which caused a weird reaction in your body, you didn't know what it was, but you wanted his hand to be close to yours again.Â
âKoutarou, wait!â you yelled at him before entering the hotel, and when you came running to where he was, your arms wrapped around his neck. âMaybe we are both the losers of the Nationals, but we won something much more important than a stupid trophy.â
And when the two of you broke the hug, you planted a big kiss on his cheek; then quickly returned to the lobby.Â
'I shouldn't have done that' you thought as you passed the doorway.
âThat was the cheesiest thing I've ever seen in my life,â said a voice that came from next to you.
Turning your head you found Tendou, watching you with crossed arms.
Now your worst nightmare had come true: Satori found out that you went on a date with Bokuto.
