Chapter 01 - Lost Warmth

He was having deja vu. Deja vu that threw him back to mere years ago. Zero idea of where he was, hunting down shrines under the guidance of a cryptic ghost, and getting his ass kicked by foes he normally wouldn’t bat an eye at. Only this time around, he was also lucky enough to be bestowed with a fever that would flush on and off at a whim, and bouts of nausea that made his stomach recoil at the idea of eating anything more extravagant than an apple.

And of course, the memory of how he ended up back in this situation.

Link moves through the events of the Upheaval while remembering the years of peace he and Zelda had between it and the Calamity. TOTK narrative with interludes of post-BOTW moments.

Hello hi. I haven’t published fic in ten years, but TOTK wormed itself into my brain. I wrote 50k words, and am probably going to write like 50k more, and if nothing else this has been a fun adaptation project to play around with and level up my craft between other projects.

“Hancock is bad with kids” “Hancock is bad with Shaun” no, well, maybe, but where I was getting at was, the objectively funniest dynamic there that I can think of is that Hancock does, indeed, not know what to do around kids BUT Shaun is super curious because of that and will not leave him alone. Hancock will be looking at sole like “I can’t handle this, i don’t know what to do, get your kid” and Shaun is just like “why do you dress like that? Do you still get sunburnt? Do you like lazer rifles? I like lazer rifles.” Like a cat that sees the person ignoring them and goes up to them for attention. And the funniest response from sole is something like “the sunburn question is rude, Shaun” and then they continue doing whatever they were before saying that.
