synopsis: katsuki has no idea if you like him or not

notes: bubbly + affectionate reader. umm implied hetero girl i think? but could also apply to not hetero i have no idea im sorry im just writing. idk if men crashout the way girls do but i like to think so. a lot of excessive unnecessary swearing bc it's katsuki. this is so ooc bc lets be fr when does katsuki talk abt *puke* feelings

he’s pacing.

shirtless. agitated. hair all mussed from his own frustrated hands.

kirishima’s lying on his bed with his hands behind his head, watching his best friend spiral for what has to be the third time this week.

“she said i smelled good,” katsuki huffs, whirling around. “who says that? who just..! says that to someone?”

“people who think you smell good?” kirishima offers helpfully.

katsuki glares at him like he’s the dumbest person alive. “she said it while huggin' me. and she said it in that sweet fuckin' singsongy voice.”

“right.”

“and then laughed when i didn’t say anything back. all fuckin' giggly and stupid.”

“you like when she’s giggly and stupid,” kirishima points out.

katsuki makes a noise in his throat. “not when i’m trying to figure out if she’s in love with me or just likes everyone.”

kirishima hums. “well. she is kind of a naturally affectionate person.”

“exactly!” katsuki snaps, flinging his arms out. “what if i’m just one of her little fuckin'.. plushies she likes huggin' or some shit? what if she’s going around being all sweet and smiley with everyone and i’m here thinking she wants to marry me? like, seriously. i've seen her cuddle with fuckin' pinky and round cheeks too, and she's always so.. giggly! and when i think she's flirting, she says it so fuckin' casual. like it's nothing. and i must be fuckin' delusional to think that it's anything more.”

kirishima snorts. “well, ashido and uraraka are both girls. and she doesn’t cuddle me the way she cuddles you.”

katsuki freezes.

“…you think?”

“bro, she lies on top of you like you’re a mattress. more than that, she like really curls in to you. no one does that platonically. that's just not a thing.”

katsuki makes another miserable groaning sound and throws himself down into the beanbag chair like he’s been wounded. he drags his hands down his face, muffling a scream into his palms.

“i don’t know anymore,” he mutters. “she calls me ‘kats’ like it’s just a nickname but then she’ll say it in that soft fuckin' voice like it’s something else. she’s always touching me and smiling and calling me cute but she does it so casually, like it’s just her being her. i don’t know what’s real. i don’t know if i’m hallucinating. i think i’m losing my goddamn mind. like, it's the tone. she goes all 'aweee, thanks kats!' in that stupid fuckin' sing-songy tone. i hate it! fucking..!” kirishima has no idea what katsuki's trying to punch to death. the air, maybe?

after watching him flop around like a dying fish for a moment, he offered gently, “why don’t you just ask her how she feels?”

katsuki sits up. furious.

he says nothing, but kirishima can tell what he's trying to say just from his look.

“well then,” kirishima shrugs. “guess you’ll just have to keep suffering.”

and katsuki does. every time you brush your fingers over his knuckles or play with his hoodie strings or grin at him from across the room with that stupid sweet look in your eyes, he suffers. quietly. dramatically.

because he wants you to mean it so badly.

but he has no idea if you do.

Luo Binghe is waiting at the base of the mountain for the entry exam to start when he meets and befriends a rich noble boy who's also planning to enter.

His new friend A-Yuan insists that Binghe eat with him and stay with him at the inn and the boy's servants just kind of nod and go "of course young master."

And like, Luo Binghe might be biased, but A-Yuan is like... Really Pretty? He didn't know boys could be that pretty...

They even walk up the mountain together and settle in to dig their holes side by side.

Meanwhile Shen Qingqiu is pretending to pointedly ignore the other Peak Lords at the selection while instead eavesdropping so hard because apparently Liu Qingge's youngest brother is an applicant this year, but the brute isn't planning on picking him because "A-Yuan doesn't like fighting" he says, strangely fond. Shen Qingqiu was not aware Liu Qingge was capable of being fond of anything.

When Liu Qingge singles out Luo Binghe Shen Qingqiu jumps on it- and then the boy sitting nearly shoulder to shoulder with the urchin looks up and my, isn't the family resemblance remarkable? The boy even has a beauty mark, though his is on his chin.

"That one too," he tells Ming Fan. He can feel Liu Qingge's eyes boring into his back as he approaches the two boys. He still gets the urge to dump his tea on Luo Binghe, but before he can Liu Yuan hugs the other boy and tells him "my mama is dead too." And that mollifies him. The boys are sent away dry.

Liu Qingge is furious and suspicious of course- that was the whole point. And Shen Qingqiu decides he'll just let the boy sink or swim on his own. No doubt the brute will be butting in to make sure his precious baby brother isn't mistreated.

Liu Yuan swims of course- that boy loves learning- and drags Binghe along in his protective wake. And maybe after his thirty-something stop in to check on A-Yuan Liu Qingge and Shen Qingqiu start like, maybe respecting each other a little bit more. They definitely don't like each other. No. Never.

WHAT IF: Fleeting Moments AU pt.2 (read from left to right)

There are a bit of additional things in this AU such that the magic casted upon Truthless Recluse (by the one and only jester) that causes disturbances in thinking, remembering, and also to keep Recluse in check, not to act out or cross the line. Even just reminiscing the statue that he once saw (when he was Pure Vanilla) would cause the spell to act up which in turn ‘forces’ Recluse to not occupy such thoughts. To which the Fount is now aware and might even know who.. or maybe not? But decided to act which only shows (a similarity to his future self) that he is somehow willing to do something about it and to someone he just met, weirdly enough (for the Fount), perhaps.. feeling pity and guilty somehow?—

Also, the Fount be complimenting himself (his future self unknowingly) and calling out the ‘special’ treatment (despite the spell that does negative effects but still a complex one) for this Cookie, lol. They haven’t really exchanged their identity (only one-sided since the Fount was the only who gave his).

Picture if you will, a Shen Yuan who upon entering the world of PIDW, decides he must focus on his martial skills to train Binghe to better survive the abyss. No cultivation, no qi, pure fists. He absolutely hates it at first but his adorable disciples say he looks cool and the praise is going to his head. When the Bai Zhan kids come looking for trouble, he fucking suplexes one.

When it comes time for seclusion in the caves, he handily subdues and and helps a deviating Liu Qingge. LQG doesn’t remember the fight after the fact, and does not believe that SQQ of all people could beat him hand to hand, regardless of what the gossip on the peaks is. He challenges SQQ to a spar- no weapons, no time limit, no mercy.

The peaks are freaking out. The war god vs Qing Jing’s brawler? SQQ has never beaten LQG in the past but he’s so different now, who knows what will happen!

A crowd gathers around the training field. SQQ and LQG stand in the middle of it, dressed down for a fight. When the bout begins, it’s hard to make either man’s movements- both are going too fast to see! As the fighters begin to slow, the moves becoming clearer… that can’t be right… SQQ is pushing the war god back?!

LQG can’t believe it. Not only is SQQ not resorting to tricks, he also keeps flashing this stunning sincere smile which MUST be some sort of special technique.

A combination grin and sweep to the leg and the war god goes down! SQQ is straddling him, forearm against his neck, panting hard. LQG is tomatoe red- definitely from the exertion and NOTHING ELSE.

The crowd erupts- some cheering, most shouting in confusion. SQQ gets up, offering LQG and hand and clapping him on the shoulder. ‘Nice fight!’ He says, as true as the sun rises in the east with his eyes in happy crescents, sweat on his brow, pink dusting his cheeks.

LQG qi deviates right there on the field.
