#crunchchute art #my art #sam and max #sam & max #i hope it will be viewable as i dont know how much tumblr will crunch it #in any case i have it up on twitter also and it seems to be in good quality there #it looks like a 'the 7 human souls:' meme hfhdhf #hey i can put more thoughts in the tags right? so first i didnt really put enough effort into my own one and i kinda realized my style #is kinda mid ngl. cause im lazy + this coloring style might not really fit them. anyway.#for sootnukis style i adore the rendering of the clothing folds and stuff but i couldnt get it just right it remains a mystery to me #silcrow i tried to do a traditional drawing but kinda messed up some of the coloring especially on the pants #also couldnt figure out if its just markers or markers + pencils or what. so i kinda did my own take of 90% markers 10% pencils #mtsodie i love the color palettes and the shapes so that was a lot of fun to try; i like the outcome #narnour i absolutely love the tiny little eyes and how goofy and round they look so that was fun to try to replicate too #as well as the colors which i mostly color picked cause i couldnt get a red overlay right #zembo was a nice way to revisit a chalky brush that i havent used in ages not sure if i got it right though #applettoast i feel like theres some gorillaz influence or its at least something i used while coloring. as you might know i used to draw #gorillaz a lot and tried to replicate the coloring etc. and i think it fit here. correct me if im wrong lol #snuckeys was also hella fun cause i love the cartooniness and the details like the teeth showing gums and stuff. hope i did it justice #also the eyes! i love the big highlight and that the eyes are brown its cute #it was nice to branch out for a bit

I think JJK going on break after the last chapter is a bit cruel. This is nerve-wracking. We still have 3 chapters left and so many things can happen there. 268 feels too good to be true and the title is weird.

I'm not sure what is the right translation and I don't have access to raws. Right now, it's 268 title is "Finale" or "Conclusion" but I heard from someone that it can be also be read as "Curtains".

If it can be read as "Curtains", then it could be a reference to "final curtains". The problem is JJK has its own version of "Curtains", right? Idk what to think.

Gosh I wish it was “Curtains”. The chapter title is 決着 (Kecchaku) which means settlement/conclusion/end.

For example, at the end of an extremely brutal fight in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Jolyne screams “Kechakuuuuuuu!” (決着ゥゥーーーッ!!) (It's actually a small Jojo meme in the JP fandom.) This got translated as "Game set!"

I love the localization they used for this since that entire battle was like struggling in arcade mode for a fighting game.

Anyways, in the context of JJK, especially since this has been a literal Sukuna Gauntlet and the previous chapter had the “Ringing the bell on a long fight.” editor’s comment, I don’t think there’s an ambiguous way to read Kecchaku. The Curtain/Veil kanji in JJK is 帳 (Tobari). (Though if there’s some fancy wordplay I’m missing please let me know.)

However…I would kneel before Gege if this was an elaborate trick by Sukuna—him giving Yuji delusions of a happy ending only to yank it away last second. It’s very hard to make characters feel familiar but slightly off on purpose for misdirection. That kind of tonal control is something I praise Umineko for. (Dungeon Meshi does it excellently for the shapeshifter scene.)

But that is pure copium I think. Sometimes otherwise good media just fumbles the endings. (Not an example of good media, but I was around for the Secret BBC Sherlock Season 4 Ending meltdown so I’m not too hopeful about a turnaround.) I personally blame the JP work culture/crunch since a lot of modern mangas have rushed endings due to burnout/unfair contracts.

I think the most heartbreaking examples of this phenomenon for me are The Owl House and Moral Orel. Those shows still stick the landing imo, but the creators are very open about how studio interference forced them to condense everything. You can feel that suffocation in the final episodes. Everything is just slightly off and you know it would be better if the creators were allowed their breathing room.

If you were raised Protestant it will come for your throat.#I never thought a little white boy would have my exact religious trauma.#But yeah. Everything is too happy right now. After getting through something that traumatic you don’t just bounce back instantly.#None of these kids were taught how to grieve properly. So them acting like the fight did nothing to them is…not something I like.#The tone should be more bittersweet not. ''Our sensei died violently for our sake lmao!''#This is something Yuji would feel guilty for. Both him and Nobara would cry a bit. Megumi would be trying to bottle it up.#I can say that with confidence because that's how they've handled previous deaths.#Yuji cried over transfigured humans ffs. Like why aren't these deaths upsetting him? (It would make sense if Gojo+Higu were alive though.)#The light novels did a much better job of the trio trying to be goofy through the pain.#You can tell they’re struggling but they still chase joy.#That’s a reason why JJK connects so well with me. Despite all the trauma they can still strive for a different kind of happiness.#This current tone is more like. ''Look you can just quickly get over it with the right mindset and go back to the way things were!''#Which completely contradicts the themes/characterization. 🩸BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA (1992)🩸

Not a favorite Dracula movie of mine by any means, but a must-watch movie for a lot of non-Dracula related reasons. This movie is an absolute visual treat, the sets and costumes are stunning throughout, and is filled with excellent actors including Gary Oldman as Dracula and Anthony Hopkins as Van Helsing. It really isn’t a horrible adaptation either as it follows the sequence of events in the books fairly accurately, and features narration from the characters in the style of diary entries which I really enjoy as a reference to the epistolary structure of the original novel. This move is also one of the rare few that features the entire cast supporting characters, however I have mixed feelings about their portrayal, particularly Mina Harker’s odd romance with Dracula (another dead-ringer reincarnated wife romance subplot—completely uninspired) which I find to be a distasteful treatment of her character even with her original personality still being somewhat intact in other ways. Ultimately this movie is worthwhile only if I don't actually think of it as a Dracula movie haha.

My favorite scene in this, which I based my little illustration off of, is when Dracula’s shadow is moving behind Jonathan, I love the way it starts out subtle enough that you might not be sure you’re seeing it right, gradually getting more out of sync up to the moment it begins moving completely independent of him. I think it’s brilliant.

GRIMACE SHAKE RECIPE

i am SICK and TIRED of all these recipes online that aren't even trying, like yes of Course it will be *tasty* but raspberries blueberries and vanilla ice cream will Not taste like The Grimace Shake it will taste like a Froot Smoothie

when i tried the mcdicks version, the two flavors that immediately stood out insanely clearly to me were:

creamsicle ... and berry cap'n crunch

i was 94% sure i was riight, but didn't have a chance to test that theory ... until today >:3

that's all for my yappin here's that recipe! ingredients:

berry cap'n crunch cereal (we didn't have the 'oops all berries' it had regular mixed in, i just picked out the berry ones). blend or crush as finely as you can!

orange creamsicles

additional vanilla ice cream

milk (as needed to thin mixture)

optional black raspberry ice cream (for additional fruitiness if desired, purple colour also!)

optional whipped cream (topping)

i've only tried this once and it tasted too strongly of the cereal so i used too much of that, and i don't have exact measurements(sorry, if i try again and get closer i'll keep track and update!), but this go i did the following:

put approx 1 cup of berry crunch in blender and mix to break apart

add 3 creamsicles (minus sticks), and milk as needed, blend together

optional taste test

add 2 large scoops of ice cream, vanilla or black raspberry, depending what you have and/or how fruity the current mixture tastes, blend (add more milk if needed)

pour into cups and add whipped cream on top :3

it made about~ two good sized cupfuls, we split it in three unevenly so i'm not 100% sure lol. if you let the ice cream/creamsicles melt enough to be mixable by hand and went to absolute town on the cereal you could probably make this without a blender!

I know I've read at least a couple fics that mention lu & jess smoking different brands of cigarettes (jess is pall malls I believe?) and I admire u all who look at props that closely SO MUCH bc I love working props, but I am still entirely baffled by how people noticed that

#I think it's a real cute bit between them too. might have to try and find out what brand lupe smokes for the price comparison #Lupe seems the type to have a more expensive taste. I know she's in more of a crunch to save money bc she's sending it home #and is likely paid less in many situations. but I like to think that she allows herself one little luxury and gets a nicer brand anyway #but I'm curious what the prop designer(s) thought and gave her #and all this said I know there was rationing on cigarettes and so it would still have to be a relatively cheap brand w how much they smoke #on screen. and w just how much jesslupe fans have cemented the romance of sharing a cig into the fanfic canon #smoking tw #smoking

if you have some old (cooked) rice that's still good but just incredibly dry/hard/not fresh, moisten a thick paper towel with a little bit of water and put it over the rice while you heat it up in the microwave. it'll be as good as new 🫡

alternatively if you wanna make it fun, pour a tiny bit of olive oil in a pan, drop the rice there and mix in some of your favorite spices (and maybe veggies and meat tho i haven't tried doing it with those so do it at your own risk). make a little hole in the middle and pour in a little bit of boiling water, then mix it a little bit. put a lid over to freshen and soften it up. remove the lid and repeat the water process but this time leave the lid off and let it cook on medium-high heat for a few minutes to get the bottom of the pan crunchy but not burnt

#actually idk if it has to be boiling water (for the crunch part) but that's how i was taught to do it #my fav spices to use there are a bunch of paprika and turmeric and a little bit of curry. and adding more salt makes it more fun too #if you have ras el hanout i rec adding a little bit too but that can vary from place to place so. check if you like it first #if you wanna be daring add just a liiiiiitle bit of cinnamon. and balance it out with more curry #making evil concoctions (fried rice) in my evil lair (kitchen)#food cw
