So here's some more insight on the lives of the characters!

Gepard

He has this rule he set for himself that he doesn't steal from the less fortunate, guards and children. Those he does frequently steal from are nobles and since he used to be one (technically still is) he knows the obsolete worst ones. Sometimes, when he learns something particularly bad, he leaves an "anonymous" tip in Sampo's office.

He tried to grow a side business out of selling flowers. Since he's not a guard he has way more time to actually engage in his hobby, unlike his OG counterpart, he can actually keep a plant alive. However the business sadly didn't end up working out.

He does have "disguises" so he can get groceries without being chased around, although they are all kind of terrible. He doesn't know jackshit about makeup so he relies on hiding his face instead (hats, masks, sunglasses and the like). Almost all of Belobog knows this but they just kinda don't bother him cause the disguise is so bad it's sad.

Whenever Clara and Hook see Gepard in his "disguise" they try to get Sampo to arrest him cause "it's literally the guy you chase everyday, he's right here, just get him!!!!!" only for Sampo to pretend not to recognize him. Gepard goes through all five stages of grief whenever this happens.

He has accidently bumped into Luka sneaking into the restricted zone on numerous occasions and both kept it secret. They have even fought together in secret.

There are rumours of the "Phantom Shielder" amongst the guards, which is just Gepard. He keeps trying to help in the snow plains, since he feels guilty for adding to the workload of the guards by committing crimes. He believes it to the least he could do.

He is a supplier of automaton parts and the like for Oleg. Luka has a sneaking suspicion that's the case but since it's Gepard's most legitimate business venture, he doesn't bother reporting it. Oleg is, like, the closest thing Gepard has to a father figure.

Sampo

As the Captain, he rarely has time to relax alone and anytime he does have the time he spends it in the far away snow plains looking for medicine for Cocolia. He sneaks away when he's supposed to be doing paperwork. Or he "loses track of time and stays on patrol for longer periods".

He has made deals with pharmacists all around Belobog, asking for "defect medicine" that cannot be sold to the public (because of such things as a wrongly colored bottle, wrong print, a small cracks etc.). Basically, he collects it without telling the pharmacists where it actually goes. They don't really question him and he brings it to Cocolia.

He has a house near the restricted zone, not because he wants to be "closer to the actions" as he tells people, but so that he can have more alone time. You need a good reason to be anywhere near the restricted zone or you have to sneak in, so his apartment is like a safe haven to him.

He doesn't have any tells when lying, contrary to popular belief. He has fake ones that he uses to trick Natasha. She believes him to be a bad liar because of this.

Anytime he has free time (which is not all that often) he is surrounded by children anywhere he goes. If you hear manic giggling across the streets you know Sampo has a day off. He will have at least two kids around him at all times and the parents have to practically peel them away from him.

Sometimes, whenever he spots Hook bothering Gepard while he's "in his disguise" he walks over and chats with Gepard just to fuck with him. It's incredibly entertaining watching the poor guy squirm as his voice cracks in ten different ways.

He actually knows if Luka sneaked in and disguised himself as a guard because there's a standard hair length soldiers in the restricted zone have to have that Luka does not follow. He never mentions it, just let's him do whatever since he believes Luka to be capable enough. He does like ordering him around just to fuck with him, seeing Luka flinch and do anything without making a sound or "deepening his voice" so that Sampo "doesn't recognize him" is very funny to him.

Luka

As much as he hates paperwork, he's infuriatingly good at it. So he's probably staying an intelligence officer for a long while. Seele told him as much after a meeting with Natasha. He had begged Seele to bring up his situation, arguing that he's healed now and can go back to the front lines. Seele, true to her word, did mention him, but Natasha shout down any conversation about him, stating he's "too useful as an intelligence officer".

He used to have a small crush on Sampo. He was impressed by his fighting and was asking the Captain for a spar for weeks before the other agreed. It's still unknown if he still harbors that crush. The crush doesn't necessary have to romantic, it's honestly up for interpretation.

He attends every funeral, celebration and memorial held in honor of the Silvermane Guards. It's based on respect but also a little bit of guilt on his part. He believes that if he hadn't lost his arm, he would've still been in the front lines and he could've stopped some of the death that happened in the snow plains.

Whenever he is cooped up in his office for long periods of times, Clara and Hook are tasked (by Sampo, as their "superior") to get him out. Usually, they steal an important document and have him chase them all over the city. By the time he gets back, the day is over and he is ordered to go home and rest.

During his days off, he helps Oleg around the workshop. Oleg has tried to reassure Luka many times before that he doesn't need to keep helping, although all of them were in vain.

He has tried getting new hobbies to distract himself, and one that he enjoyed more than he thought he would was crocheting and knitting. He made matching scarfs for Clara and Hook and Seele called him a granny. He challenged her to a spar after that (he lost).

Whenever Luka and Gepard sneak into the snow plains together, they get into "competitions". Basically, they try to kill more fragmentum than the other. Usually, it's a tie or one of them winning by a small precent (like one or two more kills).

Natasha

Just like every other Supreme Guardian, she graduated in history. Although that's the case, she was always fascinated by human biology and the structure of the human body. She became even more interested after she met a man by the name of Vache, who told her he wanted to make a medicine specifically for people to be able to survive the bitter cold. After Cocolia banished Vache to the snow plains, Natasha brought him to Qlipoth Fort. He is still alive, even after the Astral Express' visit.

She really likes teddy bears, they used to be the only emotional support she had back when she was first selected to be the future Supreme Guardian. She had shared this information with Oleg, and since they used to be very close back in the academy, a lot of her stuffed toys were left at Oleg's place. So their absence during the Stellaron's manipulation helped her spiral quicker.

Vache lives in the lab of Qlipoth Fort and he is, basically, Stellaron 2.0. Since he also believes the Stellaron, he tries to pressure Natasha into following its plan. Natasha, isolated from any actually healthy influences, gives in and soon orders that result in more deaths than victories follow.

She and Oleg used to be very close, to the point that they even grew flowers together and used to babysit children together as a way to gain a little something something on the side. Whenever Luka reports to her, she asks about Oleg and how he's doing, every time she asks she has a wishful expression on her face.

Natasha was actually very suspicious of Sampo in the beginning, after all, before he joined the Silvermane Guards she hasn't heard a thing about him. She remained suspicious of him even after years, until the end of the Belobog arc. When he first made waves, she researched every little thing about him.

Oleg adopted Luka after his break up with Natasha, so when she first saw his last name she cried. She genuinely thought that she had missed a wedding or something.

Doctor handwriting. Even in another universe she couldn't escape the illegible doctor handwriting curse.

Seele

Used to go to the same elementary, middle and high school together with Luka. He was just a year or two younger than her. As a kid, she used to think he was okay, then during middle school she found him annoying and now it's a mix of two. However, he's probably the closest thing she has to a best friend and it's the person she trusts the most outside of Natasha.

She focuses a lot of her combat abilities. Since Natasha doesn't let her go on too many missions and she's not aware she's supposed to be the next Supreme Guardian (she is under the impression that she is just Natasha's adopted daughter) she doesn't think about the political situation or strategies all that much. She much prefers fighting the fragmentum.

Although technically she has a higher position than Sampo, whenever she gets overzealous during training or pushes herself too hard, she'll "be put in time out" by Sampo. Basically, she will be training and Hook and Clara pop out of nowhere, telling her how it's "time for a break, or else Sampo will put you in time out". She always tries to get out of it because she finds it stupid, but honestly dealing with Hook and Clara is a challenge in it of itself, so, unfortunately for her, Sampo's tactic works annoyingly well.

At first, she was struggling a lot in school, specifically with writing. When Natasha first caught wind of this, she sat down with Seele and they spent a whole evening just writing and Natasha helping Seele with school work.

For almost her whole life, Natasha and Oleg were together, so when Natasha turned distant and they broke up, she basically lost her parent. She visits Oleg's workshop every now and then, but they definitely aren't as close as they used to be. Now, unfortunately for her, the closest thing she has in her life that actively acts like a father figure is Sampo.

She regularly makes bets with soldiers in the front lines. Like, "oh, I bet Kyle can't headshot five fragmentum in a row". In general she is very friendly with them. Natasha is not a fan of that.

Luka asks her for a spar session almost any time he sees her. While it "annoys" her, she find comfort in the fact that she can tell him mood easily like that. She knows that if he's just fired up he gonna ask one or two times and if he feels bad for whatever reason, he's gonna be more persuasive.

Oleg

To him, the Neverwinter workshop was something that would've happened one way or another. He always knew that at some point he would own a workshop, however, what he didn't expect was how soon it would happen. He imagined opening it in his late forties - early fifties after passing his Stellaron research to a younger researcher. He never expected to have the nasty break up with Natasha and getting kicked out of the Silvermanes like that.

A side hobby he picked up after losing his job as a researcher was sketching. Whenever the workshop goes through a slow period with no customers or any work to do, people can find him outside, sketching whatever he sees.

When Luka lost his arm, he was devastated. He was so scared for his son he soot out Natasha, asking if she can find a better position for Luka that doesn't endanger him so much. Although he feels guilty for taking the choice from Luka, he also prefers feeling guilty with a son than feeling guilty without a son.

Back when Luka used to be in the frontlines, he wanted to meet his superior (Sampo) just to be sure that the Captain was capable. His first impression of Sampo wasn't a positive one, but after hearing about his achievements in battle, anecdotes from other guards, seeing Luka's admiration of him and seeing him around the street playing with the kids, he backed off.

He still misses Seele, even though technically she's not his kid. Even though that's the case, he still makes sure to prepare birthday gifts for her and congratulate her on any achievements.

He teaches Hook and Clara the basics of engineering. Every week he dedicates two hours for them. It's actually one of his favorite past times cause it livens up the place and reminds him of back when Luka and Seele used to be kids.

He still thinks about his research, specifically the Stellaron. He really wants to continue studying it and oftentimes thinks about it. He has a lot of theories about it but can't test any of them out.

Cocolia

She met Serval when the Landaus first moved to the Underground. While all the siblings have a positive opinion of her and they generally get along well, she and Serval clicked almost instantly. Serval helped her a lot with the orphanage, then with the clinic and finally with Wildfire.

Even though the Underground's atmosphere is pretty depressing, Cocolia tries her best make it more homey, warm and, in general, uplift the people. There's a reason why the people of the Underworld trust her with more than just medical issues.

One of her attempts to make the Underworld more welcoming was plants. Although most of them require sunlight, she got Sampo to look for ones that can survive without it. And just like that the Underworld is full of plants (as much as it can be). Unfortunately not all parts of the Underworld have a flourishing flora, the unlivable parts (thanks to the fragmentum) don't have any.

While she is a doctor and a healer is general, if it comes down to it, she can hold her own in battle. She uses a bass guitar when fighting, the one that in the original Serval broke during her companion quest.

She and Bronya have a very strong bond. They spend hours talking about different ways to optimize Wildfire. Serval helps with that too, either as the face of Wildfire or by suggesting ways to update equipment or create new weapons. Whenever Sampo is present, his input is asked as well, although he mostly helps with strategizing and ways to get rid of the fragmentum.

The hardest choice she had to make was exile Vache. She was conscious of his downward spiral when he started obsessing over blizzard immunity but the human experimentation was kept a secret from her until Lynx mentioned hearing something about it. Needless to say when she found out she was heartbroken.

She is well liked by all the children, and she always has some sort of candy on her desk. It's either for children who are being treated or, at the end of each day, the most behaved kid gets two.

Bronya

Although she didn't go to school, she knows the basics thanks to Cocolia and Serval. So now, her favorite hobby is reading. She has read as many books as she could get her hands on. Anytime she sees Sampo, she asks him to deliver her a book or two.

While she is part of Wildfire and she does fight against the fragmentum under Serval's command, whenever fragmentum activity is low, she is seen helping around Cocolia's clinic. While is mostly acts as a nurse following Cocolia's orders, she is still very skilled, to the point that other nurses sometimes call her "Cocolia 2.0".

She has learned the basics of engineering from Serval. It's a skill that comes in handy more often than not, from fixing up children's toys to helping fix equipment that was broken by the fragmentum.

The kids love her too. Whenever they get into trouble the first person they go to is Bronya due to her "not being an adult" (she is, she is just the youngest one working in the clinic so they assume she's still a teenager).

She has heard a lot about Gepard, but she has never actually met him since she wasn't adopted back when the Underworld and Overworld weren't separated. Despite this, she feels as if she had known him forever because of how often Serval and Lynx mention him. As if he's still here, with them.

She and Pela are good friends. Thanks to her, Bronya got into the Tales of the Winterlands. That series got her to wish to one day go to the topside and see the snow plains for herself. It's a wish she holds close to her heart.

She is close to Lynx as well, they spend a lot of time together due to her being the little sister of Serval. The two of them started reading Tales of the Winterlands together thanks to Pela and both of them loved it. They have spent hours talking about what they want to do in the Overworld.

Pela

She is a very important part of Wildfire not only because of her strength but also because of her great investigation skills and data collection. Thanks to her, Wildfire is not only able to catch troublemakers but also because she could predict future fragmentum activity based on the data she managed to collect.

She was the one who investigated Vache when Cocolia first heard of the rumours. She had come to Pela as a friend, asking for help, not as part of Wildfire. Pela accepted to look into it for free, and gave it her all. Let's just say the investigation wasn't all that pleasant.

She has created a fake identity that she uses to bet on herself. She is very strategic about it too. If she wins too many bets, she makes sure to stage a few loses to keep the attention away from her fake identity. She has made bank with that strategy.

Moreover, the reason she is still technically in debt is because the person she owes to is in the Overworld, so she had no way to reach him and she can't ask Sampo for help. She has a small box in her apartment that is the payment to her debt. She's not sure if there's any extra payment due to being late (although it's not really her fault) but just in case she keeps some extra shield.

Her closest friend is Lynx, they hang out together anytime Lynx isn't with Svarog. There's moments were they don't talk, Lynx just shows her picture as they cuddle on Pela's sofa and that's probably their favorite activity. However, anytime Lynx is in a talkative mood, the two of them theorize on what Gepard is doing in the Overworld.

She preforms in Mechanical Fever with Serval. It's a way for her to gain an additional income while hanging out with her friends (Serval, Lynx and sometimes Cocolia (when she's not busy with Wildfire and the clinic, which is pretty rare)). She is a drummer, her drumsticks are handmade and very sturdy (build by Serval) and she uses them when fighting as well.

She participates in a lot of food completions (like eating all 5 crabs that are in the game), but her favorites are the ones with spicy food. She and Serval were the ones with the biggest rivalry in a spice tolerance competition.

Serval

When she and her siblings first moved into the Underworld, they could only afford a one-bedroom apartment. She and Lynx shared the bedroom and Gepard slept in the living room. Soon, after Cocolia formed Wildfire, Serval go the opportunity to move. Now, she lives with Cocolia in a four-bedroom apartment, one for her and Cocolia, two bedrooms for Lynx and Bronya and the last one for Gepard.

While she is part of Wildfire, she also has her own "workshop" which is just her "experimentations" on automatons. She wants to create truly sturdy ones that can handle the fragmentum so that people don't have to risk their lives (and to also win in automaton fights shhh!!!!!).

While she doesn't like Svarog, she still helps him fix up a few things here and there, although she doesn't approve of the way they run their part of the Underworld she understands that he is an important ally. Plus, she gets access to better tools/materials.

She is still the lead singer/guitarist in Mechanical Fever. Most of her songs are about hope and a brighter future, it's her way of helping uplift the people of the Underworld. She is the most popular artist in the Underworld because of this.

When Sampo first arrived to the Underworld, she asked him about Gepard. More specifically, how he's been, if Sampo knows anything about him (whereabouts, health and the like). While he answered her questions, she asked if he could bring Gepard down, but he said "not yet". He did give her other reasons as well, but the "not yet" stuck with her.

Whenever Bronya and her go for patrols or missions together, they just talk. Like, they do get the work down, but they have insanely good coordination skills and synergy together that it's a breeze for them so it works more as a bonding moment rather than work.

The one taking care of most plants in the Underworld is Serval because they remind her a lot of Gepard and his love for plant life. On especially lonely nights she imagines his reaction to seeing how much the Underworld has changed since last time he was there.

Lynx

The reason Lynx got so attached to Svarog was because he possessed a lot of knowledge about the outside world and he could answer a lot of her questions. He once even showed her a projection of how the aurora looks back in the snow plains.

Before meeting Svarog she had tried to go to the surface to, one, find Gepard and, two, to see the Overworld once more. She went pretty far, but she couldn't unlock the Furnace Core, so she had to leave before Svarog found her.

She once confided in Pela that she doesn't remember Gepard's face, that it's very blurry for her and that she feels very guilty about it. She is frustrated because she does care about him and Serval always gets a sad distant look when he's brought up, but whenever she is trying to imagine the three of the reuniting, she can't picture it.

She has tried reasoning with Svarog on multiple occasions, but the robot never changes his mind. She still hasn't lost hope whatsoever. After all, her dream, aside from reuniting with Gepard, is to visit the snow plains.

She knows basic engineering thanks to both Serval and Svarog. Although she is not very interested in it. She prefers learning about the outside world much more, but it's useful information so she doesn't argue.

Whenever she wants to get a few extra shield, she goes to the fight club to bet on Pela. If she is not participating, she follows Pela's betting advice. She almost always wins, but that's because she doesn't visit the club that often.

When she met Sampo, she had asked for pictures of the snow plains, since she learned he fights the fragmentum there. He obliged and now she has a whole pin board dedicated to those pictures in her room.

Hook and Clara

The two of them are a very big deal in their school. They brag that THE Captain of the Silvermane Guards has them as "assistants". At first, the other kids didn't believe them when Hook said that they work for Sampo until he comes pick them up from school one day (Fersman was busy).

While the two of them have their separate bedrooms, every night they have "sleepovers" which is basically them sleeping together in each other's bedrooms. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays they sleep in Hook's room and on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays they sleep in Clara's room. On Sundays they play rock paper scissors to decide where the sleepover will be.

Seele had to explain to them on multiple occasions that they are not official Silvermane Guards. Hook refuses to listen and Clara is just confused. Both insist that they are cause "uncle Sampo told us we are under his command!!!!!!!!! You're just jealous your boss isn't as cool as ours!!!!!"

While they get a lot out of following Sampo's orders, they are still not allowed in the restricted zone. They don't get it, and Sampo dances around the issue, ordering them to do things outside it like bringing lunch to Luka or something.

Both of them are really scared of Natasha. They've seen her once or twice in public appearances and whenever they bumped into her in Qlipoth Fort, and while at first she seems nice, something about her scares them. Most of the time whenever they see her they run to hide either behind Sampo or Fersman or Luka.

Once, Sampo had an infiltration mission but Hook and Clara kept wanting to hang out with them. Sampo noticed Gepard in his terrible disguise and told them to follow him. They ended up pestering Gepard all day instead.

Anytime there's a disagreement between them they solve it with a game of rock paper scissors. Even when doing homework. If one of them got a 7 as an answer while the other got a 100 they play rock paper scissors and list the answer as whatever the winner got.

The acotar fandom can be a cesspool but many of you know that already.

How some people treat Gwyn, Emerie, and/or Nesta, to defending actions that should never be defended, to other bullshit.

But one of the bigger problems is the racism.

Do you think you can come into this fandom with that kind of hatred in your body and proceed to type it out and everyone would be cool with it? Because if it's yes, you're wrong.

A majority of this fandom are white, the other being poc. I don't see a lot of poc but they're out there. And for some reason, there are people who have a problem with that.

Are you proud of yourself if you do something like this? Does it make you happy when you act like a piece of shit? When you act like fucking scum? When you act like a bigot? Calling people slurs? You must already feel like dogshit before so doing this must give you the boost that you so desperately need.

I don't understand racists. Why are you so heated about a person's skin color or their ethnicity or the country they come from? We're all human at the end of the day and we were put on this earth to love each other but some of us didn't get the memo.

Her account got banned, bless but still, whomp whomp, you racist hoe. A person had talked to them about this and the OP got offended and proceeded to act like an asshole towards them. I haven't seen the post but I imagine the OP going like this: "Silly little black people! They always think they can accomplish everything by just sitting around!" (This is from Drawn Together and Clara said this, she's also racist so if the shoe fits).

I've made some posts of SJM's portrayal of Celtic culture and how it's demonizing but I never once brought up or said shit like this.

Are you aware that these are fairies? Fairies don't really have a specific skin color assigned to them. Are you aware that fairies can have the skin color of a rainbow? OPE. um...! honestly i know this isn't what the question is asking but. i have only watched season three once. i GET that ten is super depressed about rose leaving, and as a dedicated doctorrose-ie, i would think it incredibly out of character if he weren't. BUT. it is also an incredible drag, lmao. my favorite parts of doctor who are when it's just dumbasses literally falling through time and space, and following up season two (which was full of laughs and genuine fun) with the main character being emo supreme is just so much. i LOVE martha though, but it's so much easier to watch her in season four because the doctor isn't being such a whiner. lmao.

15. is there a plot line that has ended but that you wish had been expanded on?

hmmmmmm..... honestly i feel like the whole hybrid thing just could have been done better? after twelve spent billions of years working to get clara back, even though he had no reason to believe that he could, him suddenly saying 'oh it's okay that one of us forgets, it's the hybrid!' just seems so silly to me. so i guess it would have been expanded on in some way in the sense that i wish we could have been given more time with clara and twelve, that they could have paused and said 'no we're working ourselves up. neither of us have to forget. how can we fix this?' but also i know that's not how the show works and that we have to refresh the cast. so like. i get it. but in a perfect world, they would have figured it out !

season 5: in the eleventh hour when the doctor turns up again for the first time amy says 'where the fuck have you been'

season 6: at any given point during the impossible astronaut during any given dialogue amy says 'you don't fucking tell me what to do'

Just a FEW of my favorite characters

Iruma- as a long-term fan of characters that don't even make it in a cover, this is a main lead I actually like. I want to watch him grow healthy and strong. Every time Iruma eats, and reminds himself that he has to eat as much as possible because of lifelong food insecurity, I want to write him a mother who isn't a useless bitch.

Opera-not male, not female, but a secret third thing(a badass). Love the issues where they're just causing problems on purpose, and the ones where they lose their poise.

Professor Kalego- English dub by the amazing D.C. Douglas. Tries so hard to be the antagonist in a regency drama. Puts in the work to be a dignified badass, but just lives in the wrong genre. I CANNOT WAIT to find out why Professor Proper Pants goes by his first name when most of the rest don't.

Professor Buer Blushenko- I saw some things that are popular stereotypes and was worried, but let me tell you this man is amazing(and a little bit secretly terrifying but I love it) and every time I see him I love him more. Very first character that really struck me as a fav. Fairly background, but I'm used to that. Still great.

Valac Clara- yeah, this anime has its moments where everybody is in love with the main lead, but beyond that, the absolute gremlin energy of this girl. 1000% ride-or-die, deliberately chooses to be a ray of sunshine, takes care of her friends, THROWS A VENDING MACHINE AT A GUY. Wish i had the energy for this cosplay.

Sabnok Sabro- This guy should be the Demon on the front of an 80s metal album. OH SHIT, HE'S A HIMBO! Oh shit, he learned from that! Oh shit! He grew as a person and learned from his mistakes! OH SHIT, HE ACTUALLY KNOWS THINGS! 100% has contributed more useful thinking than the guy billed as the smart one.

Professor Balam- GUYS. I can't. This is already a long post. Huge scary man,also part bird. Tries to be less scary and makes it worse. He is so huge because he is filled with love for creachers. Has flower emojis. Casually manhandles teenagers like they are kittens. Could snap you like a twig. Has learned about haircare. Grabs my least favorite character BY THE FUCKING THROAT for hurting one of his students and beats the shit out of him. Is used as the font of knowledge for this series in general. How can one character be such a mom AND such a dad AND hot?

Okay, so I have to admit that I omitted a lot of characters I don't have strong opinions on. Most of them were one-off akumas, so don't get your panties in a twist, your faves are probably still on here (and ranked lower than you think).

As a preface again, these are just my personal opinions. They can't hurt you. You can still like characters more or less than me. And I don't care how you feel about them. This list is for me. And the person that asked for it. So shut up. Go make your own rank list if you’re so butthurt.

84. Gabriel Agreste- I mean, is anyone surprised? I am not private about how I think Gabriel should go to jail. Or fall off a cliff. Or be erased from existence. Rip to those that like him, but I’m different.

83. Thomas Astruc- Honestly, he’s down here on principle. Self-inserts are generally a no-no, and I just laugh every time I see him on screen because he really put himself in this show and said boohoo no one appreciates me XD

82. Bob Roth- I feel like this one should also be obvious. He’s just a dick. Terrible human. I give him 0 stars.

81. Tomoe Tsurugi- We all collectively hate her, right? It’s not just me?

80. Su Han- This mans has small peepee energy. And he bad mouthed Fu, so get FUCKED, my dude.

79. Rolland Dupain- Listen, I get it, he liked Marinette in the end, but I could do without the racism.

76. Nora Cesiare- I didn’t care for Nora. I know Thomas loves her, but the overbearing sibling trope is tired.

30. Sabrina Raincomprix- Sabrina deserves better. I hope we see good things happen for her.

29. Lila Rossi- Surprised? I actually like Lila. The first fic I ever wrote for this fandom was a Lila redemption. I think she is a good antagonist and foil to Marinette. I absolutely want to see her get dunked on in canon, but that doesn’t mean I hate her.

4. Master Fu- If you didn’t pick up on how much I love Fu from the episodes ranking, then idk what to tell you. I want him to be my grandpa. I would trust this mans with my life. He did his best. You paint those pictures, you funky little man. I love you.

Bruce is many things, including Batman. He is currently trying to figure out how to launch a search party for his daughter’s missing magic jewelry and to find the thieves. (god, he hasn’t even met her yet and she has so many problems. She needs him there already and he isn’t). He is a father to many children who are currently searching for her, and who only just thought to inform him of this fact. On top of that, he is Batman—Justice League, cases, and keeping up his aliases on top of managing his possibly injured son.

What he is not expecting is a call from Hal when he is mid-way through a case while keeping Red Hood down. He is not expecting for Oracle to patch him through, nor is he expecting it to include Diana and Arthur—granted they all know each other’s identities at this point, but still. He would like to be uniform when his allies call him for work. Instead, he’s in civvies, in Jason’s room on his laptop keeping his son in place by sitting at the foot of his bed and shooting him looks on occasion. The only mercy was it being audio only.

“Batman we need to have a talk,” Hal stated.

Jason decided to make a break for it while Bruce was distracted. Bruce tackled his son and dragged him back to bed. “Little busy. Someone with Pegasus’ abilities dropped Hood into the harbor and he’s on bedrest.”

“I object to this treatment! I’m fine!”

“Not until Agent A clears you.”

“Fuck you B.”

“Hood.”

Jason stuck out his tongue and relented for the moment.

“So you’re aware he pulled a gun on a kid?”

Bruce choked at that.

Jason sat up. “First of all, dart gun with knock outs thank you very much, second of all, kid clearly stole Ladybug’s whatever that lets her transform, same with the girl using the cat that clearly has a lot of anxiety and definitely should not be in the field if she’s hyperventilating!”

Bruce could feel Diana being held back by someone. Possibly Hal’s ring, or Arthur.

“That was a teammate certified by the Ladybug and Chat Noir as allowed to use their miraculous given that Ladybug was needed on another mission at the time. Mr. Bug has appeared once before when Ladybug was unable to appear, and Chatte Noire is usually for solo stealth missions but was called to handle this particular akuma.” Arthur explained. “Your son attacked Ladybug’s team and has only made them all more unwilling to allow any contact after Sandboy.”

Bruce froze. His daughter needs help, and is denying the league the right to after Jason’s (well-intentioned) actions.

“Are they—”

“Ladybug has stated that the League may not approach her team during patrol, which was our main contact point. Miss Sting has become their representative for any and all contact, save one Amazonian historian,” Diana hissed. “She is convinced your whole family is trying to kill her now. You are to keep your house out of Paris until this is handled—if it wasn’t for the team being convinced that Red Hood was one of Sandboy’s creations, we would not be allowed to contact her at all!”

Bruce froze. His daughter is terrified of his family—of her family. She thinks they are out to kill her. He need to have a family meeting, now.

“I’ll check their locations and bring them back.”

“You better!”

“It is not wise to anger the Savior and Destroyer, so do so as quickly as possible,” Arthur stressed.

“Seriously Bats, get your house in order.”

“Hey, he’s not in charge of us anymore,” Jason tried to defend, only his voice wasn’t all there. “We’re our own people here. He just makes sure we don’t bleed out at this point.”

“Might want to work on that too.” Bruce wasn’t focusing enough to tell which of them said that.

Jason was shockingly quiet after that, typing absently on his phone.

Bruce needed to fix this. He turned on his kids trackers, only to find they were already in Paris, or… moving toward it. And comms were down.

“Oracle, report.”

“Sorry B, but I think they found her and we may have pinned down Hawkmoth.”

Bruce wanted to scream. He didn’t. “Report the identity to the League and leave Paris, now.”

“… Tim isn’t responding, Cass has plans with a family, and Steph is part of those, so you’re going to have to wait a day or so.”

Jason typed harder, but said nothing. Bruce could feel the self-recrimination and knew better than to intervene just yet. When he put down the phone (and when Bruce finished his own investigation on this matter) they would talk. For now, he had to wait.

Nino is a lot of things. Amazing director (albeit a tyrant as one), a top notch dj, and a superhero. He is also smart, charming, and very good at reading people and knowing when something is up. Perks of being Carapace and having Wayzz all the time—people’s weaknesses are a lot easier to spot now, and any fronts they try to put up, he already sees right through them. Especially when its someone he’s known forever.

Marinette has been on edge, around the same time as Ladybug started acting up. Granted, finding out she has a pen knife last year by her accidently using it to draw in class that one time did give him a wakeup call on Marinette having a paranoia streak on top of her anxiety, but usually the girl calmed down during school or when she was designing during breaks.

This time, that wasn’t happening. He’s… not sure how to get her to open up on this one. Looking over her shoulder and the constant twitching meant she was probably hit hard by Sandboy last night, and hadn’t recovered yet. He really wished he got a few hits in himself on the akuma—it always messed up everyone afterwards. And Marinette didn’t need the extra stress with her new designs for the Worst Father Ever’s company and tests that week.

And yet here they are, with her on edge. Most of the class was hit, and no one was at a hundred percent and all, he got that but…

“Sandboy?” Nino started, hoping it was casual enough that Marinette didn’t catch how frustrated he was with all of this. Ladybug was missing last night so Mr. Bug was there, Chatte was filling in for Chat and had an anxiety attack, the battle took way too long and it was so painfully clear that Chatte isn’t a hitter and that Mr. Bug is no strategist. Viperion stepped into that role with ease when he managed to get there, but still. The whole situation was messed up and he couldn’t fix it. Even when its hurting his friends.

Marinette let out a shaky breath. “Yeah.”

“Wanna talk about it or…”

“NO! I—I never wanted to, I…” Marinette was at a loss for words again, tugging at her hair.

“Its okay dudette.” He made sure to take her hands out of her hair before she knotted it like she did when they were kids. She hated getting them out after, always cried a bit from how much it hurt with how big her knots would get and how uncooperative they were. “That bad?”

Marinette nodded, curled in a bit. “I never want it to happen for real.”

Nino wasn’t sure what ‘it’ was, but it couldn’t be good. He know how bad some of Sandboy’s nightmares were—getting chased by his own fear of absolute failure being voiced by his idols still stung to this day.

“Hey, if it tries to, you got us—me, my bro, your bestie and let’s not forget Miss “I am the storm” will be there.”

“And Kagami!” Alya added with a grin as she came over with his bro. “She’s already claimed the right to destroy anyone that hurts you.”

Adrien’s grin may as well have split his face. “She has, hasn’t she.”

Marinette turned to fight with Adrien, as something was going on between those two, Adrien clearly had an idea what it was, but given the whole thing with Luka’s fans getting on her back about using him to get famous and the fall out…

Nino shook his head to banish that particular akuma—fans are the worst kind of akuma. Love akuma are really annoying in their abilities, but he can defend against all of their power-sets so far. Fan akumas are always wildcards and he’s usually not the most helpful against them.

He hopes he can keep Ladybug and Marinette safe. His job is to defend and shelter—in and out of the mask. That’s what he’s decided to do, at least.

“Aw, look at them. Now if only they were like this back when operations secret garden was a go.”

Nino raised an eyebrow.

“Nothing you need to worry about, before we got together.”

“Uh huh.” Nino could and would worry about it. Was that a ‘get them together’ operation or a ‘teach Adrien and Marinette how to be people and no run from the sight of each other’ operation?  First year ops outside of the mask were weird and he wasn’t in on them until a few months after he and Alya finally got together (at his best bro and favorite dudette’s brand of meddling).

Adrien is glad for many things since getting the ring. One of them is his partner and after finding out who she was (post-‘oh my god she hates me as a civilian’ episode), her brand of scheming. Which included (after he got her to conceded that his father may be bad but he is not Hawkmoth level bad) her managing to end up as his Father’s current ‘mentee’ of choice after she won the hat competition, and he showed off the scarf she made him last year. Gabriel had a rule of not working with designers that hadn’t made a name for themselves already—Marinette had by the time she was fourteen as MDC—Jagged Stone and Clara Nightengale’s joint-custody personal designers.

Father only found out MDC was Marinette from the scarf. He’d met Clara again at an event and she had the same style of embroidery and threading. Only it was after Adrien got his scarf.

Marinette plotted this--down to the fashion week event and Clara going to talk to Gabriel about his opinion on the work done to her scarf and how long he thought it would take MDC to make the same thing on a dress, roughly, since the designer does the embroidery by hand instead of letting Clara’s seamstress handle it given the intricate lace-like pattern.

Gabriel had called Marinette on the landline—the landline—that night and offered to mentor her on how to broaden her work for the masses, without taking away from her school and downtime, or interfering with MDC’s work.

So far, Marinette has gathered them a pool of seventy two people, name and contact information, that Markov, Max and Alya are co-investigating as Hawkmoth.

The trade off to all of that is “Marinette” brand consultation under the Gabriel brand, a studio with walk-in and appointed consultations, and being there on time.

Adrien managed to get them there a half hour early, and she still wasn’t relaxed. The unofficial appointment is in twenty minutes, and Marinette is shaken from Sandboy, but doesn’t want to talk about anything Miraculous, and he hasn’t had time for videogames lately, so. Distraction time.

“How did you get into fashion again?” Adrien toyed with his phone, knowing damn well how she ended up this far into fashion, but he did love watching her get worked up and go off.

“First of all, this industry doesn’t make anything for you if you’re short that  isn’t petite, and that’s a nightmare to look for as a kid. Then there was Maman having trouble finding things that fit her nicely and from there looking for women’s or girls clothes is just disappointment after disappointment.”

“How so?” Adrien hid his grin behind his phone.

“How—how so! Your father keeps wanting me to keep pockets out of designs because real pockets aren’t ‘in’ for women’s fashion. Lies! They are always in, women always want pockets and real pockets! Pockets are wonderful and the deeper the better.”

“Mh hm.” Adrien knew that from previous rant sessions.

“Then there’s the whole lack of body types and fits and don’t get me started on every white shirt being seem through, or a button up that doesn’t button right, or both. There is a reason why I make clothes for Mylene and her mom since I started doing commissions in the first place, and that is only one of them!”

Adrien leaned forward then. “So anything else?”

“Fix the sizing system already—using measurements that we already use when getting clothes online for conversion charts, only no ‘small, medium, large’ just the amount of fabric at each measurement and a rough of how it fits on different sizes where from there!”

Adrien checked the time. Ten minutes to, and this guy sounded like the early type.

“Alright, better now?”

Marinette blinked a few times, rage vanishing as she processed what happened. “… yes.”

“Good, feel ready to work out a rough?”

Marinette smirked. “They won’t know what hit them!”

Tim walked in and decided this candidate was high on his personal choice of who he’s like to be baby bat. The girl had cookies at the ready with coffee (real coffee, making her much better than Marie Ann) and didn’t bat an eyelash at the Wayne name. So either cool under pressure, or doesn’t care for celebrity status, either way a bonus in his books.

Then came how she just… had that same look Bruce gets when working out one of Riddler’s puzzles, only while she was working out a suit for him. She was just in charge of the design portion—Gabriel assured him he’d check over the whole thing and handle production and all. But this suit she worked out in minutes—even grumbling about making sure his pockets were at easy access level for him to grab his phone in case of emergencies and checking over his phone to shape the pocket and cut with that in mind—he likes it.

Given her features, she wouldn’t be out of place in the family—blue eyes and black hair for the win once again. And she clearly understood professionalism, even if she was being monitored by Gabriel’s son who seemed content to let her operate without asking any questions beyond asking him if he had any fabrics he didn’t want or any skin sensitivities.

Her measurement taking was faster than he was used to with tailors, and she admitted it was a double check and checking the fits he already uses to further incorporate it into the design.

No matter how this pans out, he’s decided he’s keeping her on as a designer at the very least. And that Janet’s DNA test comes back negative. This Marinette is his new favorite pick, and she wouldn’t stick out like a sore thumb. Plus, she already wears her hair like Ladybug and turned that into a casual nickname, so extra bonus on secret identity keeping cred if she is.

Now he just needs to find out if she really is and then drop the bomb on her while working out if she’s undercover working Gabriel/Hawkmoth, or not. If she is, damn. If not, he’s giving her ‘spot the bad guy’ lessons, price—one cup of coffee.

* Dawson is bisexual with a slight preference for men

* Clara is bi, with a preference for men, but has an ex girlfriend she brings up occasionally (nothing negitave, she was lovely, they just didn’t work out)

* Everyone has some sort of musical ability; while Basil plays violin, Dawson is awfully good at the trombone, while Olivia plays tambourine, drums, and the cello. * This doesn’t sit kindly with Basil, obviously seeing as that’s (the love of his life) his- eh, assistant that he respects deeply

* Of course Rattigan tries and succeeds in kidnapping her, you think he’s not gonna do that? Anything to piss off Basil.

* And what’ll piss him off even further? You ask? Perhaps if he persuaded her to willingly stay... oh that would just grind old Bassy’s gears wouldn’t it?

* So he tries, approaching her cage with a disgusting smirk on his face

* “What do you want?” She huffs, crossing her arms and looking away.

* Now Rattigan.. I don’t think he’d be too fond of labels when it comes to his sexuality or otherwise. He simply knows he can get who he wants when he wants because he’s, well, Rattigan.

* “Oh now now, such a pretty face shouldn’t pout like that. Don’t you know it could cause aging?”

* “That’s a myth.”

* “Guilty~”

* “My, and she has a mouth on her too! I say, how did old Basil get so lucky~?”

The thing everyone gets wrong about Clara imo is her ending is NOT the Good one but it’s more than that. People say that her arc is about trying to Be Good and Find Her Place In The World and it is, but in a lot of ways her ending devastates me just as much as Bachelor finding out he’s a toy devastates me….

Clara spends the whole game fighting against her evil sister, trying to do good… only to realize she’s BEEN her sister the whole time, and arguably the “her” that’s been fighting her sister isn’t really her at all…

Idk the exact mechanics of the identity issues are still up in the air and I think you can read it a lot of different ways, but to me Clara the character kind of… only exists once you’ve chosen to “confirm” who she is on the very last day. The player has the option to save the town or destroy it– that is the choice that defines which Clara becomes “real” and which becomes a shadow that fades away. So in the end, it’s not even Clara who gets to make that choice… it’s just the player, deciding retroactively what was Real all along…

AND, arguably, even if the player chooses to save the town… doesn’t the plague-Clara still win? Either way, people are perpetually dying in the name of the plague, and the plague is never truly destroyed…

oh boy do i have some stuff to say about his dark materials ep 6

here we go again.

- the only dealbreaker for me, and the MOST IMPORTANT THING:

THERE ARE NO DÆMONS IN THIS EPISODE.

you know what this whole episode is about? you know what’s in the god. damn. TITLE?

DÆMONS.

we didn’t even see the dæmons get RELEASED. FROM THE CAGES.

IN EPISODE SIX: THE DÆMON CAGES!

everything else in this episode, pales in comparison to this. fucking. point.

I don’t care how little budget you have to allocate. I don’t care if it’s hard to animate. I don’t care. this was the veritable climax of the second act, the point we’ve been working up to the entire time with the gyptians and the north, and it’s all. about. the dæmons.

the importance of them. the connection they have with their humans. what they mean as literal souls and soul bonds. the vessel of self-expression and awareness and free thought.

we got a few background dæmons. we got Pan yelling at Lyra at an important moment in the story. we got the golden monkey. we got a bit of exposition about dæmons being important, supposedly, I guess.

why, may I ask you, did we not get,

I don’t know,

Pantalaimon reacting to nearly being severed from his girl?

Lyra reacting to nearly being severed from her dæmon?

she’s released, she gets up. and walks away. doesn’t even look at him. he doesn’t scream. we don’t even see him freaking out at all. just looking worried in the background. she doesn’t hold him. she doesn’t cry. they don’t even touch, the whole bloody episode. when he’s grabbed, they just fall over.

this was the entire point of the worldbuilding, man. dæmons are integral to this story. they’re the fucking point. they’re the climax. both of the first book and the entire series, at the finale. it’s all about them.

there have been so many amazing scenes with them in this series. the golden monkey, mainly. Stelmaria’s scenes. some of the early interactions with Pan. the butterfly dæmon. the fight with the golden monkey and Pan, and the golden monkey and Benjamin’s kestrel. they have the tools.

and they didn’t use them.

this was the one episode of all of them where dæmons, and Pantalaimon’s interactions with Lyra, are THE most important point. and they glossed right over them in favor of Lyra and her mother.

(and you know, I love that scene with Lyra and Mrs. Coulter. that was INCREDIBLE acting. these actors are absolutely amazing, don’t get me wrong. pretty much everything else in this episode was phenomenal, A+, beyond wonderful.)

listen. I love dæmons. I’ve complained about the lack of background dæmons before, frequently. I can understand not having them in as much for budget reasons, even though not having them around as much does drain a lot of the worldbuilding out of the series. I can look past a personal love for them.

but this was unconscionable. it basically edited out the entirety of dæmons’ meaning in this series.

this was a hearty fuck you to the original.

I am utterly disheartened by this. they had all the tools to make it exceptional. if you’re going to take on a story, you have failed if you don’t make certain you allocate enough of your resources to the literal most important theme in the story. this was a fucking shame.

anyways, here’s the other stuff I guess, as a postscript, because I’m just obliterated by this shit.

- Mrs. Coulter was incredible as always. and Lyra, god. a-mazing. their interaction after the intercision was some of the best acting I’ve ever seen. the progression of Lyra grappling with having her mother offer love and the switch to when she decided to manipulate her was golden.

- I adore Iorek. I love him. he’s perfect.

- Lin Scoresby actually had some decent characterization in this one. I was on board with him entirely being gruff and sarcastic until he said that stupid motherfucking line about love. so fucking corny and so fucking uncalled for. there was no development for that. everything else he did was pretty much stellar, I loved it.

- Serafina is beautiful and I love her and her interaction with Lin Scoresby was good except for that part. but she also came off as extremely OP with how she decimated the entire troop of Tartars. like what? she had her own squadron of witches with her before, where are they? ? there didn’t seem to be that many Tartars either, certainly not an army. I can look past this for budget reasons though.

- no I am not calling him anything but Lin Scoresby now. stuff it.

- the horror in this episode was EXCEPTIONAL. everything from the first intercision with the sister standing there and her reaction to the sound of it, to the part with the cliff-ghasts - incredible. bone-chilling.

- come to mention it, Sister Clara was one of the best parts of this ep. I was truly heartbroken when Lyra mentioned her dæmon and she reacted to that. that was a great scene.

- the electromagnet going apeshit was absolutely GREAT. that was an awesome scene, really horrifying and really climactic. great great work. that whole couple of minutes when the dæmons start coming in more and Lyra’s destroying everything are exactly what I expect from this show.

- Roger :C I love him too so much, he’s such a good boy

- do appreciate the few background dæmons we do get.

- the doctor was a really interesting character. I liked his characterization a lot. a good look into the dynamics of power and science and morality. and he was a fantastic actor, he felt like he was genuinely trying his best and pretty disgusted with himself. even the way he held Pan out away from his body like he loathed touching him.

- but also, Ma Costa got to snap his neck. FUCK YEAH. she was great in this ep, liked the bit with the children and Faa at the end too.

X - top 5-10 characters who are yoUR PRECIOUS BABIES AND YOU WILL DIE DEFENDING THEM This depends a lot on what I’m focused on at the moment (also, not all my faves count. Generally if I feel like a fave character has enough fans to defend them or whatever, I’m not gonna feel like I need to defend them. For instance, Elsa. Does Elsa have her haters? Sure. But she’s also crazy popular, so who cares if a few people hate her? That’s why she’s not on this list, even if I do like her.) but here goes, not in order tbh, just off the top of my head: Kamala Khan, always my girl, I adore her so much and I saw a post one day talking shit about her and I wanted to throttle OP. Anyway. Kamala is the best. I cannot wait for her MCU debut. Cassandra, from Tangled: the Series. I adored Cass right from the start, and of course, right from the start, I saw people shitting on her for, IDK, daring to *gasp* not like Eugene, I guess? Wow. So yeah, I’ll die defending Cass, she’s the best, even if she made some bad choices in s3 but hey. Who hasn’t stolen an ancient powerful artifact and gotten manipulated by a demonic Eldritch being, amirite? Della Duck, from Ducktales. I adore Della, she’s such an interesting and complex character who has made her fair share of mistakes but is also trying her best. The whole discourse post-”Timephoon” really showed me that she’s a character I’d die defending as well because holy shit were people shitting all over her for... daring to ground Louie, her son, for literally causing a spacetime disaster because he wanted to make money. Sigh. Anyway. I adore Della. Anna of Arendelle, from Frozen. Oh, Anna. So many people just flat out ignore you in favor of your sister, which is so unfair. Anna is wonderful and determined and optimistic and honestly such a badass? Like that (sadly deleted) scene said, her love could hold up the world. (Fun fact, part of the reason I desperately wanted my brain to get off the Frozen traintrack it was, ah, frozen on from June 2019 to January 2020 was because it resulted in me fixating on how much people flat out do not care about Anna, which wasn’t a fun time!) I am very glad she gets to be part of the bridge with Elsa but am sadly unsurprised that people continue to ignore that and just insist that it’s only Elsa who’s the Powerful, Wonderful, Most Amazing Fifth Spirit. Anna who? Granted, the movie could have emphasized that it’s Elsa and Anna who are the Fifth Spirit, together, but still. 

Alex Danvers, from Supergirl. Still my favorite character on the show! I don’t think she gets bashed as much as mostly just ignored? (I’d say poor Kara gets the brunt of the bashing. It’s very sad.) Unless Lena stans get confronted with the fact that their fave is doing some highly Unethical Things, then they start pointing to Alex for some reason and start saying, Yeah Well, Alex Works For A Shady Government Organization, So Who’s The *Real* Bad Guy Here? (Me: ....it’s still Lena, but go off, I guess.) I guess I just generally relate to her overwhelming Big Sister-ness and the high pressure she puts on herself because what a Mood, amirite? I feel that whole, anxiety that your parents will be disappointed in you because I feel that every day! I also adore how dedicated she is and how smart she is (something the fandom and the show often seem to ignore...) Connie Maheswaran, from Steven Universe. She’s the best! And she was totally the MVP of Steven Universe: Future, telling off all the Gems for making Steven’s problems about them because that was the last thing Steven needed! She’s practical and smart but at the same time so adventurous and brave and willing to stand up to protect the Earth! It’s very admirable. Steven Universe, from... you know. I’ve always liked Steven but I think Future gave me a greater appreciation for this kid. This poor kid has had to grow up so fast and basically play therapist for his Gem moms as well as for Gems who literally tried to kill him multiple times. His compassion is so admirable but wow did it result in him putting himself last! I have a soft spot for these types of characters, the characters who care so much about other people that they forget to care about themselves. (Alex Danvers is in this category also.) I know some people got mad about his downward spiral in Future, but honestly the complaints just strike me as being mad that Steven dares to have his own problems as opposed to being the Happy Boy Therapist Who Fixes Everyone Else’s Problems And Has Zero Problems Of His Own. Martha Jones, from Doctor Who. Oh, Martha Jones, you’re a star. I had a group of college friends who I watched Doctor Who with back in the day, and they hated Martha. (Most notable exchange: one of said friends saying that she thought Martha was just “too smart” to be relatable. Said friend was a physics major.) I hope the Martha hate has cooled down now because Martha always deserves so much appreciation. She had to put up with so much in s3 (incidentally, I think about s3 sometimes and I wonder why the fuck 10 is my favorite Doctor. Honestly, he’s such a dick in s3. Martha Deserved Better.), and I’m so glad she was able to be one of the few companions in NuWho with a nontraumatic exit. I hope she’s living her best life, wherever she might be now. Ninth Doctor, from Doctor Who. Gosh I love Nine. Those same college friends who hated Martha also told me to skip s1, and I’m very glad I did not listen to them. I’ve always liked Jerks with Hearts of Gold, and Nine definitely is that! I just adore how while he had such a gruff and battle-scarred demeanor, he was so sweet and genuinely kind. He’s a puppy in a leather jacket! And not only can he be genuinely soft and sweet, but he’s also just so silly sometimes? Absolutely not what you’d expect from his general appearance but he can be quite a goofball! I love that for him! And while I may not like Doctor/Rose as a ship (honestly I just don’t tend to like Doctor/companion ships at all), his relationship with Rose was so sweet. I also just enjoy that, underneath all the weariness and the surface-level cynicism, he is actually very optimistic.  Twelfth Doctor, honestly, same deal as Nine. I’m very annoyed with people who dismiss him as being the Grumpy Doctor because he’s just so genuinely kind and compassionate? He might genuinely be one of the most compassionate Doctors I’ve ever seen. He even extends kindness to his worst enemies. There’s something really beautiful about that. Being kind, even when it might ultimately backfire on you and might not even work, because why not try? He’s just a punk rock grandpa trying his best, how can you hate that? He’s got some sick guitaring skills btw. He should join a band. (I know Peter Capaldi is in a band, so that just makes me want 12 to be in a band even more.) Sometimes I think there should be a band in the Whoniverse made up of some of the Doctor’s regens but then I get stuck on who’d be in it besides 12. Maybe 2 can be in it, with his weird flute thing. Anyway. His relationship with Clara was great (mostly because of how destructive and codependent it was lmao) but I just genuinely adore his connection with Bill. I’m always here for found family, and Bill being 12′s Earth granddaughter just warms my heart so much! Thirteenth Doctor, but actually the opposite deal of Nine and Twelve. I once saw a post saying that most Doctors can be split into one of two categories: grump with a heart of gold or charming goofball with a dark side. And, despite the two characters I just listed being in the former category, I think I tend to prefer the latter? Mostly because I see plenty of Jerks With Hearts of Gold but I feel like I don’t see as many heroic charming goofballs with a dark side. Anyway, that’s absolutely what 13 is, and I appreciate the layers that she has and am constantly annoyed at people who only see her surface level cheeriness and think that’s all there is to her. I really love it when characters Aren’t What They Seem and 13 exemplifies that. To borrow a phrase from a post I saw a very long time ago, 13 is so facile. She’s so physical, taking up so much space and constantly moving, but is so touch-averse. She talks so much and is very friendly, but is incredibly emotionally constipated and keeps even her so-called best friends at an arms length. She talks a lot about hope and compassion, but boy can she be hella violent and feral! Love That For Her. T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending, about anything at all (gender identity, sexual or romantic orientation, extended family, sexual preferences like top/bottom/switch, relationship with poetry, seriously anything) Oh absolutely. Off the top of my head: Cassandra is a lesbian. And that’s that on that. 13 is touch-averse! (Also stop yelling that she needs a hug! She doesn’t want one! It’s okay to not want hugs, that’s not a crime!) Alex can cook. Cooking isn’t even that hard?  K -Say something nice about someone in any of your fandoms Ooh, this is hard cuz there are a lot of people in any of my fandoms that I feel like I can say nice things about! Let’s go with Supergirl since I’ve been neglecting that fandom a lot. Uh. I adore @wizardofahz ‘s fics about the Superfam! I’m always craving more gen fic and she delivers! I love her characterizations of everyone, especially her characterizations of Alex and Kara.

Yes to all of this! But also... Clara’s ending in Face the Raven and the Doctor having to deal with that in Hell Bent was good, but it was followed by Heaven Sent which I cannot, for the life of me, remember as well as the previous episode. Clara getting to live and fuck off to space in her own TARDIS or whatever didn’t feel emotional. At all.

 I’ve seen that episode many times before, and Face the Raven only once. I do remember FtR and Hell Bent pretty well, but Heaven Sent? I have to make a mental effort to remember more than the Doctor’s memories of Clara being wiped out and even then, I remembered it because of the events of The Timeless Children ( in a “wait, that happened before, right?” kind of way). 

I guess what I’m saying is that when a companion leaves the story tragically, let their ending be tragic! (istg if Donna gets her memories back in the 60th special I will NOT care for it)

We’ve had companions leave on their own terms before (Martha, Graham and Ryan, Jo Grant...) but indeed, Yaz’s ending wasn’t consistent with how she’d been written so far. She was obsessed with the Doctor (like, medically speaking), she loved the Doctor to the core and wouldn’t have left her without a fight.

In my opinion, it would have made more sense for her to stay for the Doctor’s regeneration and then make her leave during the 60th anniversary in a tragic way and have the Doctor having to deal with the aftermath (Yaz dies, the Doctor has to tell her family while looking like a complete stranger to them).

OR have the Doctor find a reason to make Yaz stay on Earth (something along the lines of an umpteenth near death scenario and the Doctor being uncompromising about her staying behind on Earth to live the rest of her life).

Or (the option I like the least) have Yaz stay for the regeneration and like. Not being able to compute it. Which would have had the dramatic impact of Yaz having fought so hard for so long to get her Doctor back, and then the woman she loves so much turns into a completely different man who has little no idea why he turned into that specific man. Have her believe that her Doctor is gone forever. It wouldn’t make much sense since Yaz seemed to love the Doctor no matter what, but it would still be more impactful than the ending we got (still can’t believe their hug didn’t make it to the final cut like wtf) Character-wise, Yasmin Khan’s ending should have been tragic.

On the other hand, I think that since some people are already calling the ending we did get homophobic because the leads didn’t kiss, if Yaz’s ending had been tragic, people still would have called it homophobic or using the Bury your Gays trope, or racist/islamophobic for killing off the first South Asian muslim companion we got, or whatever. Hell, op started their post with “call me problematic, but”!

There was no way her ending could have been tragic, at least if the writers wanted to tell a story that would get the least backlash.

(I still think they should have written a tragic ending though)

maybe this is #problematic of me but like. i would have preferred if yaz had had a sad or tragic ending to the absolute Nothing we got

1. Introduction et Allegro in G-Flat Major by Ravel (Obsessed doesn’t even fucking COVER my love for this piece; the first time I heard it, I was on a train and I sat on the edge of the seat in complete wide-eyed rapture for the entirety of the piece, no joke, like this piece is honestly one of the most lush and beautiful things I’ve ever heard, it’s almost like if you’re wandering in a dark forest and suddenly find this like oasis in the middle with sunlight and waterfalls and butterflies and this piece is like an extended auditory representation of like the stunned moment as your eyes take in it all, like it would be the slow-mo shot in the film showcasing the scenery like when the wizard of oz turns color?  it’s AMAZING like GO LISTEN i’m fucking DYING to get a little ensemble together and play this)

2. Serenade to Music by Ralph Vaughn Williams (friends. This piece is magical and will give you goosebumps and make you weep.  Vaughan Williams wrote this as a setting of Shakespearian text from The Merchant of Venice that discusses how amazing music is, and it’s for 16 vocal soloists, specifically 16 very famous ones of the day, and orchestra.  It blew my MIND the first time I heard it, which I specifically remember, walking down a sidewalk in Brooklyn but somehow on an entirely different planet at the same time.  It’s amazing.  It’s magical.  It’s enchanting.  It’s other-worldly.  Rachmaninov was in the audience at this piece’s premiere and he sat there and wept like a baby.  You probably will, too. I linked the first recording from 1938 with the soloists RVW loved.)

2. Sonatina for Flute and Piano, op. 13 by Lennox Berkeley (I’m working on this piece right now and I love it.  First movement: gay anxiety. Second movement: gay tenderness. Third movement: gay frolicking.  Berkeley is a lesser-known composer, but he had a massive crush on the gay composer Benjamin Britten and they had a friends with benefits kind of thing going on before Berkeley eventually gave into aristocratic bullshit and got married.  Check this article if you want more info on Benjamin Britten’s 1900s “metropolitan homosexual lifestyle.”)

3. Appalachian Spring by Aaron Copland (Copland’s another gay FYI but he is also like the daddy of the trademark American sound in music, though arguably Dvorak is another American music sound daddy even though he’s not American, but I guess like in a way Dvorak started us off in finding our own sound and Copland picked up the reins with all his like open fifths etc.  Anyway, Appalachian Spring perfectly captures the hope of something better, which is the idealistic side of American patriotism that’s so disgustingly absent these days that this piece has a certain amount of poignance now that makes it almost unbearable.  This piece has always made me emotional because it has so much of the promise of something new with the fear of the unknown but a sense of warmth and love at the same time that it’s staggeringly relatable, but these days, with the current state of affairs, it’s even more intense.)

4. Pavane pour une infante défunte by Ravel (Richter’s performance of this is the only one I’ll listen to.  Heart-achingly beautiful and gets me every single time.  I can only listen to it if I’m ready for the Emotions.)

5. Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major Op. 58 by Beethoven (Mvmt I, II, and III here) I could go on about Beethoven for years, but basically, if you want to hear the depths of the tortures of being human combined with an unrelenting hope and conviction in salvation and finding peace and beauty and joy in the fact that we’re alive, just turn to the most amazing human who ever lived, aka Beethoven.  The performance I linked is by Andsnes, and he has an AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING documentary called The Beethoven Project on amazon prime I 800% recommend.  His performance is what I linked.

6. Days of Beauty by Ola Gjeilo (MAGICAL and atmospheric; contemporary; pulls at your heart and meant for winter but great any time of the year)

7. Le Secret by Faure, only when sung by Barbara Bonney (I’m obsessed with her voice and the COLORS she serves... this recording is so gorgeous and I study it all the time for vibrato and color purposes on my own instrument)

8. Brahms Piano Trio in B Major Op 8 (Brahms wrote a lot of heavy stuff (prob when he was dealing with all the guilt over his inappropriate love for the much-older Clara Schumann while her husband was off in the sanitarium for throwing himself in the river) and he was super intense and it took him like over a decade to write his first symphony (which is great), but this piece has a certain optimism that is really glorious, particularly since that heaviness is still present)

9. Cantique de Jean Racine by Faure (I’m always obsessed with this; it’s nothing new.  It’s like a musical hug.  I particularly love this recording.)

10. Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No. 2 always by RICHTER (again obsessed with this piece for years but still die every time I listen to it, particularly when it’s Richter, because he’s not so punchy and vertical during the climactic parts of the first movement; it’s much more horizontally phrased)
