Hi, I've been wondering what's the opinion of my fave's on something regarding Aemond; do you think he'd be capable of being in a genuinely loving relationship? I've seen someone else saying he wouldn't, because he sees vulnerability and love as a weakness and thus the relationship would always be an abusive one, with Aemond pulling away/pushing the person away or even becoming violent whenever he feels like he's being vulnerable or has lost the control over the situation. What do you think? That he's incapable of healing and having a loving relationship or that he could overcome this trauma and allow himself to be vulnerable and loved without resorting to pulling away, violence, or control? (I'd personally like to think he could, especially because of how much he seems to crave love.)

So, would Aemond be capable of being in a loving relationship - yes and no.

I don't believe it can be just any relationship because he has to find value in something in order to respect it whether it be in a personal way or as a formality. If Aemond were to be in a relationship with someone who isn't emotionally sound, individualistic, and also self-serving, then no, he would not ever be able to be "loving."

In the same breath, I don't think that "loving" for Aemond would look very romantic in the classic sense. It would be a very intense, passionate relationship where few words are shared and more is inferred based on physical cues and subtle reactions. He doesn't come off as having a Dismissive/Avoidant attachment style because typically those people actually do show happy reactions and affection before it becomes too overwhelming and have that "I need to leave before they leave me" thought.

Aemond seems like the type to just take a very painfully long time before absolutely committing, and if that doesn't work out because he decides this person can't be trusted or is bringing him and his goals down in some way, it would take an even longer time before he chooses someone else. He would spend most of his time deciding the person's worth and their value to him. He'd be quick to discard, but not in a rush to replace.

He's very meticulous and very logical, so when his goals are all self-serving and are for the sake of his future / his goals come first before anything and anyone, he would only allow himself to be paired with someone who elevates him, doesn't make him feel lesser, can stand on their own, and ultimately, has their own goals that don't interfere with his. This person would need to have goals that don't intersect with his at all, but compliment his in the long run.

If in a relationship, his affection would be subtle in public, shown through a general presence to show possession, and very intense in private. This person would be the only one who was "given the privilege" of seeing him this way, and even then, I'd say it'd take a very long time before it ever evolves into him verbalizing how he feels as opposed to just showing it.

Personally, I do see feelings as a weakness, but emotions are also your most powerful manipulation tool - and that goes both ways. What circumstances would allow someone like Aemond to allow himself to be manipulated and held captive by his own emotions? So, for someone like Aemond to allow one person to be privy to his emotions, he would absolutely treat this person with respect as long as there is mutual pushback, reassurance, pride (in themselves and him), and loyalty (towards their goal, his goal, and himself). He doesn't ruthlessly dish out violence; there's been a chain of reactions that led to it or it was seen as obligation. If he chose someone, I don't think he'd be abusive. This person would just need to be painfully patient and willing to - not necessarily "wait" - but allow him to decide how he wants to accept them instead of them working for it. Because if they work for it, he'd see it as desperation and not worthy of his attention.

All that said, he would be capable of a relationship, but it would have to be with someone who wouldn't ever care about being his priority. They would need to be content as his "shadow" or by his side knowing that through him, they'd be elevated. They'd need to crave power as much as he does but never want to be above him, and they'd have to view "justice" and "worth" in the same way. Two powerful people can be in a relationship with a lot of intensity only if they never seek to repress the other. It'd be a mutually beneficial partnership. Probably less romantic than what most would seek, but for those who really do prioritize their personal goals over everything else, a partner is someone who satiates what they can't get (or take) from anyone or anything else which would be physical and very private intimacy.

Uh.

Duncan. They stab each other to show affection, it's very gay and romantic. Another win for toxic yaoi. The AUs already got a lot of interaction between the two, mostly wherein Noah scares the daylights out of Duncan, and at one point literally scars him, so there's already a basis for some kind of dynamic there. Duncan's also a fairly even match for Noah ability-wise, given they're both chaotic and self-servient characters more interested in their own goals/entertainment than other's opinions of them. They'd enable each other to an unhealthy degree, and I think the two of them would probably end up trying to out-do each other in a game of "who can commit the worst atrocity (and get away with it)". Or maybe Duncan would fumble his was through being someone else's moral compass for a change, as opposed to the person in need of one. To varying results.

If not him, then maybe Heather? I dived into their potential relationship in a previous ask briefly, but I think a romance between these two could work. Heather's cutthroat enough to deal with p!Noah's shenanigans and audacious enough to keep him from getting bored. Plus, I think the two of them would have a mutual respect for their game plans; Heather would know just how hard it is to maintain a persona for the sake of the game since she initially tried to play herself off as a nice person at the beginning of Island (and failed miserably), and Noah would appreciate Heather's underhanded tactics and proclivity towards sabotage since she always keeps the competition interesting with her interferences. That respect could easily blossom into genuine appreciation and/or feelings towards each other.

If not Heather, then perhaps even Gwen. I think she and him could have a Morticia and Gomez Addams type deal going on, especially if she gets to be as mischievous as she was in Island (i.e. her red ant farm prank). Though I'm a little hesitant to give Gwen yet another romance plot in any of my AUs. She's been through enough of that drama.

Or maybe Harold? There's definitely some sort of dynamic there, since Harold spends a lot of time trailing after Noah at the Playa. He has his suspicions/knows Noah's deal (but can't convince anyone else that his very valid concerns are warranted) and Noah's torn between wanting to eviscerate Harold on the spot for being so annoying and relishing in having such an easy target for his various pranks and schemes. They could have a fun Tom and Jerry type deal, potentially.

I don't know. Noah's a very shippable character, thanks in part to just how vague and easily malleable his characterisation (and therefore his character dynamics with others) is, and that extends to p!Noah. In theory you could ship him with anyone you want to.

Jiang Yanli x Jin Zixuan = Foolish x Vegetta. Ok so Foolish is super laid back when it comes to lore but is incredibly protective when it comes to people he loves. We all remember his 10/10 acting when Forever hit Leo. I am just imagining him as Yanli telling Jin Zixun off during the crowd hunt like yes queen. Vegetta stands firm with his commitment to Foolish even when everyone is constantly saying Foolish is cheating on him and trusts him, wants to be with him regardless of the rumors. These two fit Jiang Yanli and Jin Zixuan’s end game relationship so much it makes my heart hurt XD

Jiang Cheng as Maximus. This one was one of the most difficult to cast but I think Max fits pretty well. From my experience Max can be silly but for the most part is pretty stoic and focused on the bigger picture. He is also pretty detached from others without any real solid connections other than Sophia.

Lan Xichen as Cellbit. This one was easy. Cellbit is super into all of the lore and enigmas just like Lan Xichen and while he has a somewhat serious personality he is always down for silliness and having a good time. Plus, his relationship to Forever is a given.

Meng Yao as Felps. ok this one was more uncertain as all I know about Felps is from the prison break XD but I know he and Cellbit are very close and Felps isn’t very good at minecraft so he’d make a perfect Meng Yao XD idk lol

Wen Ning and Wen Qing as AyPierre and Bagerah. This one is also a bit of a stretch. Bagerah is very devoted to her goals and family but also has a pretty strong moral backbone. Even though she is pretty silly a lot of the time, I think she’d make a good Wen Qing.

Xue Yang, Xiao Xing Chen and Song Lan as Quackity, Wilbur, and Philza. Okay hear me out. Xue Yang x Xiao Xing Chen has similarities to Quackity x Wilbur. Wilbur has been hostile to Quackity because Quackity keeps trying to steal Tallulah and Quackity’s been pretty wild since Tilin’s death. Obviously he isn’t anywhere near Xue Yang’s craziness but I think he’s the closest other than Slime. Philza as Song Lan to Wilbur’s Xaio Xing Chen

Dapper is Wen Yuan during the burial mounds but they have the personality of Lan Jingyi post time skip while Richarlyson has Lan Suzhui’s personality XD.
