Maybe It's Time || Amy & Milo

TW: None, really. Summary: Milo gets an update at his Physical Therapy appointment that he doesn't quite agree with. Ft. Amy (@exsqueak-me)

MILO: 

It was a beautiful Monday afternoon.

Which meant that Milo was sat inside suffering at the doctor’s office (as he did three times a week) trying to look like he wasn't gritting his teeth against another sharp wave of pain as the physical therapist continued to stretch his shoulder back. Without work or school, PT had been the closest thing Milo had to a schedule since everything had happened. It wasn’t… the worst thing ever. Amy always came, and sometimes Pip too, whenever he wasn’t busy. Part of him had been hoping it might’ve even filled the void left from no longer being able to go to the gym or lift at the Market (it was like exercising right?), but instead Milo was always left with a new kind of frustration. The kind that only came when things he used to be so attuned to were now like completely foreign concepts. Squeezing small foam balls in his right hand felt more like he was trying to grip the final card in an elaborate card house. Lifting those small 2kg weights over his shoulder felt like lifting a car - and like now, having the therapist pull his arm back felt like torture. 

Further and further, little by little. Milo tried not to focus on it, and instead pushed a breath through his lips. He found Amy’s gaze, trying to focus on her, on keeping the rise and fall of his chest even, rather than the throbbing pain that radiated closer and closer. Keep going, a little—"—정지." Milo gasped, pulling away with a wince as his resolve finally broke. 

His hand went to his shoulder, rubbing absently at it as Dr. Moore stepped back, eyeing him lightly in a way that Milo pointedly tried to ignore. He knew he was supposed to be able to move further than that without issue by now. Especially given that despite how long it had felt, Milo knew his arm hadn’t even moved that far before he’d called uncle. Yet weeks had gone by, day after day of therapy, of exercise. Of doing these silly little motions over and over again, but still, that tension returned and made him feel like his muscle was going to snap if he pushed any further. Like something was tugging from the opposite direction and holding him back. 

“...Doesn’t really feel like we get very far with that one, do we?” Moore finally spoke as he pulled away from Milo completely to slip his file back into his hands, leafing through some of the documents. “Outside of PT, is that shoulder still bothering you?” The therapist asked, though it wasn’t even a full second until Milo's response of “Nope.” followed. So quick of a response that he was wincing at himself for not being more convincing as Dr. Moore’s gaze immediately shifted towards Amy with a small raise of his brow - disbelief evident. 

AMY:  Despite everything that ever happened in Swynlake, Amy was an optimist. She’d been born that way! And you know, she grew up coming to Swynlake, spending loads of time here because of her grandparents. So when the demon event happened, of course it was absolutely horrific stuff, just the pits really – but Amy bounced back as she knew she had to. She was Aunt Amy– and she needed to be strong for her kids. And so with a big smile and constant encouragement, she’d made sure Pip got back to school, and was there for every appointment for Milo, poor kid.  She was hopeful that soon they’d see some improvement. And hey, there was SOME improvement, but��� well, she was no doctor. And she was impatient. She was starting to wonder about the proposed timeline that the hospital had given them at the start of Milo’s treatment. Everyone was different, ‘course, and it did depend a lot on how much work each individual put into their PT… but… Milo was a hard worker. He’d wanted to get back to work. It couldn’t be his fault. And so that led Amy to this appointment today, that worry bouncing around in the back of her head. The look on Dr. Moore’s face did not bode well either. Amy frowned and sighed. “It definitely bothers him,” said Amy, chiming in for Milo, not bothering to look his way. She was sure he didn’t want her saying that. But too bad, kid! “Whenever he uses it at all. I mean, I dunno what level of pain he should be in but, I dunno, when we first started, we were told things were gonna be looking up at this point…” 

MILO:

There was only a brief look passed to Amy when she failed to cover for him - but why would she? Milo knew she was right. His shoulder did bother him anytime he used it, and he knew Amy noticed. He knew Pip noticed. It was obvious whenever he went to grab something off a shelf, or tried to lift something with the wrong hand. Even if he shifted on the couch during movie night to pet Booboo. 

Lying to the doctor wouldn't get him anywhere, he knew as well. Part of him was just hoping if he could pretend it was fine hard enough it would be. 

"...By this point we were hoping his level of pain would be at minimum. Occasional stiffness, soreness with extended use. Not immediate pain with extension." Moore explained, placing the folder down and immediately returning to Milo's side. He urged Milo to move his left arm - up, down, in a full circle. The complete range of motion intact and without even a wince to his features. Easy. "...alright, now give that a go on this side. Just so we can get a full picture of where we're at." 

Milo blanched at the mere thought of it. A breath slipping through his lips as he tactically chose to start by moving his arm down. Then to the front. That was no sweat. It was just the rest of it that made him hesitate as he grit his teeth lightly. A moment passed before he raised his arm. There was an immediate tremor that started down through the tips of his fingers, curling them into his palm as he pushed up. He'd barely raised his arm above his shoulder far at all before a searing pain had him flinching it back to his chest as he bit down on the far less appropriate words threatening to slip. 

He’d barely heard Dr. Moore’s own sigh over the thumping in his ears. "...When Milo first came in, his injuries were extensive. Multiple people suffered incredibly extensive injuries... You both understand how small our staff can seem when these things happen. Especially when our own are a part of the hurt. So the emergency unit's main concern was triage and stabilizing patients. Milo, you had lost a lot of blood. They had been concerned about doing anything more invasive at all, given your state. Most of what they did do was to minimize blood loss, not to physically reconstruct or contain any sort of muscle or ligament damage." The doctor explained, his hands moving to gently expose the still raw scarring that covered Milo's shoulder. 

"...We went ahead with PT to see how far we could get. There was always a chance things could heal on their own, and we will always try the least invasive and most simple paths to recovery first. Unfortunately, there was also always the chance that physical therapy alone was not going to rehab the damages either. I believe that's where we currently stand."

AMY:  Amy flinched along with Milo. She couldn’t help it. She’d always been on the sensitive side, one of her greatest strengths and also her greatest weaknesses (according to Pip, who would always make his opinions known, and known loudly). But he wasn’t wrong. It was why she’d never abandon Maggie, even when Maggie lied to Amy or stood Amy up. It meant that she couldn’t help but feel the pain of Milo now, even if it was mostly in her head. She shuddered and swallowed roughly, like the exercises were happening to her. And she tried to brace herself for what she assumed the doctor would say next. Yup, no surprises there. Amy cast a sorry glance toward Milo, then reached out to him. She laid a gentle hand on his wrist. “Right,” she said to the doctor. “So Plan A’s out. There’s got to be a Plan B, right? A surgery or something?”  Amy assumed as much. She’d seen enough Grey’s Anatomy, plus her own dad had to get surgery for his hip after a bad fall and physical therapy hadn’t worked for him. Makes sense that they’d take a similar route for Milo. 

MILO:

Plan B. Surgery. Surgery!? 

Milo's gaze snapped up immediately, his wrist twitching slightly beneath Amy's hand as he nearly held his breath waiting for the response. 

"Yes." Oh no. "The Plan B option is surgical repair followed by the same physical therapy routine. That one should fare much better once the actual ligament is fixed. There's a few different approaches they could go with, given we seem to think his main issue is likely the torn rotator cuff.” Dr. Moore started to explain, easily going into the three different approaches they typically used and when. His fingers lightly tracing over Milo’s shoulder as he explained the process of each one, the difference in incision sizes and which he thought they’d likely use for Milo’s case - but Milo himself wasn’t listening. 

Instead his brows furrowed deeply as he stared down at the floor, his mind racing a mile a minute. He couldn’t do surgery! That wasn’t an option. He didn’t… want to do that again. Not when he could only imagine how much money all of this was already going to cost Amy. The financial burden he’d put on the Seville's by existing was likely already too much - much less from having his initial surgery. His hospital stay. All these weeks of rehab!! The medications! Not to mention he was still out of work, he couldn’t even begin to help pay any of this back if Mr. Moon wouldn’t let him even do minimal odd jobs. And now they wanted him to do another procedure? Another hospital stay? Another round of PT? 

Not to mention… he was downright terrified of going back. He didn’t want another surgery. He didn’t want to do it. It was fine without. It would stop hurting eventually, right? He just couldn’t do full rotations! Fine. He’d live without - he lived without much more for years, he could handle this! Plus then he’d go back to work sooner. Start earning money again sooner, be less of a worry and a burden sooner. 

His gaze slipped back up as Dr. Moore had stepped away, grabbing his clipboard and a pen, still mostly addressing Amy. “So - I can write up the referral and then they’ll call you to get that sch——” “—No.” Milo interrupted then, his own voice startling him as his cheeks blushed lightly once the doctor’s gaze snapped to him with obvious confusion. “...I’m sorry?” The older man had said, hesitating with his pen against the paper. 

“I--...  No. I-.. I don’t…I don’t want it. The.. the surgery. I’m… I’m not going to get it..” 

AMY:  Amy listened and nodded and at some points– stopped the doctor to repeat something so she could take notes. She didn’t consider herself a smart person, after all. In fact, if asked, Amy Seville would say she was pretty dumb. School hadn’t been for her. It was why she dropped out in the first place, why she had wanted to do something that made more sense. For her, food had always made sense and food was fun. But surgery? Medical procedures? Wayyyyy out of her wheelhouse. But as a guardian, she needed to do her best to show up for her kids, y’know? So she got out that phone and took some notes. She asked questions. She already knew she needed to call somewhere for a second opinion– you always had to get a second opinion on things, especially if you didn’t understand it yourself. Amy opened up her mouth to agree to the referral. But she didn’t get that far.  “No,” said Milo. Amy’s head swiveled, as she looked at him in surprise.  Instantly, she reached forward to grasp at Milo’s wrist. “Hey,” she said. “It’s okay. I know, this is all super overwhelming. For now, we can just ask questions, huh?” she said gently. “We’ll go to this referral and see what they say. We’ll get a second opinion. Don’t worry, we’re not rushing you into the hospital tomorrow, buddy.” 

MILO:

Amy’s hand was back on his wrist, her words soft and reassuring, but Milo was already spooked, his head shaking in disagreement almost immediately despite the logic in her comment. He didn’t want to ask questions. He didn’t want a second opinion (unless the opinion was that he would be fine without, thanks). Milo did not want to think about these alternatives at all, but he also was quickly pushing the repercussions away from his mind too. 

He’d work on it himself. He’d go back to the gym, he’d just… start over with his strength training. He’d continue practicing the stretches and the pulls - Milo was disciplined, he could do it just fine without medical intervention. Worse case scenario; he’d grin and bear it. He’d become great at that over the past few months anyways, right? 

“...they’re just going to say the same thing.” Milo argued quietly, his tone holding a slight pleading edge. “No surgery.” He forced himself to say again with a more certain firmness, as if it was a decision he was making logically and not one of anxiety and panic. It was Dr. Moore’s hand that slipped back onto his shoulder then, Milo’s gaze shifting to him as he felt himself stiffen. “...Milo, I understand you might be nervous, but as far as procedures go, it’s a fairly easy one with incredibly high success rates. Most people go on to regain their entire range of motion with no continuing pain afterwards. You have to understand without the proper fix, your shoulder may continue to heal incorrectly. You might lose some of that function permanently.” 

Most. Might. No guarantees either way, right? It was a shoddy way to look at it, but Milo could only cling onto that thought as it worked in his favor, shaking his head again. “...I said no.” Milo pressed, eying the doctor and not missing the way his jaw had shifted slightly. Dr. Moore stepped away entirely then though, finishing writing his initial paperwork before tearing it off and handing it towards Amy. 

“...Very well. I’m still going to give you the referral. For if-” He glanced at Milo. “-you change your mind. It’s valid for six months, if…you want to get different opinions or explore your options before speaking with them. After that, the outlook and recovery timeline would begin to change and we’ll have to re-evaluate.” The doctor finished, glancing between the pair of them before he turned back to Milo with a frown on his lips. “I highly recommend considering it, Milo. Medically. Personally. You’re young, you’re active. Don’t subject yourself to a lifetime of chronic pain over this...” 

AMY:  Yeah, no, Milo was getting the surgery. Amy was not a good mom– she was probably not even that good of an aunt. She’d never imagined herself as either of those things, honestly. Only after she had met Pip, that sweet little baby, had a part of her heart opened that she hadn’t even been aware had existed. Maybe if Pip hadn’t been so dang cute– so dang smiley all the time! If he’d been a miserable little thing that cried, maybe she wouldn’t have fallen in love with him. But he’d been adorable. She loved him from the start, loved to babysit him, loved to hold him, and when Maggie’s addiction got even worse, it had been a no brainer for Amy to take him. She couldn’t let that sweet kid go to the Kims. They’d raise him so strictly that he’d forget how to laugh. Right now, Amy felt the surgery was a no brainer too. She didn’t have to be the World’s Best Aunt to know that. Buuuuuuut…she was also a stubborn person who hated listening to her parents. So she wasn’t going to tell Milo he was going to get that surgery. She’d let him sit with it, and they could talk about it a little later. She’d tell Pip, and he could help support Milo. It was a shame Pip wasn’t here now. She was sure he would have known the right thing to say to Milo so they could get this thing on the books. For now, Amy just reached for the information. “Yes, please, we’ll take the referral anyway. Just in case.” She smiled. “Thanks again! We’ll be in touch.” She shook the doctor’s hand, then got up and walked with Milo out of the room. After checking out, they emerged back into Swynlake.  “You hungry? We can stop by at Hatter’s or some place on the way,” she said. 

MILO: 

Milo pulled away the second they were dismissed, righting his shirt and pulling his sling back over his shoulder so that he could tuck his arm back against his side. As much as he despised the thing,... it hurt a whole hell of a lot less when it was like that, especially after PT when he felt like all of his muscles were on fire as they walked back out onto the street. Perhaps if he wore it longer than recommended, it would help the recovery more. You know what else would help? The surgery, dumbass. 

His gaze shifted, looking down at Amy as he realized she’d addressed him, his brows furrowing as his mind fought to catch up to the words. Quite frankly, he was sure his appetite had all been zapped from him, but even if it hadn’t his answer would have been the same. They had food at home… How could he want to continue to spend more money? He wanted to ask Amy. How much had this entire thing cost her? How much would be coming in bills to their doorstep? How big was the number he was going to have to add to the already large number of his notebook. The one that seemed to grow every day with no means of lessening it. He’d tried to offer her rent. He’d tried desperately to pay back Amy and Pip - but they never wanted to accept it. Which meant they’d just keep giving for him and he’d never get to pay them back for it. 

It wasn’t right. 

Milo couldn’t help but wonder if Amy knew everything she did now - if she would have still brought Pluto home that day. 

“...oh -...no, I’m fine.. Thank you.” Milo waved off a few moments later, shaking his head softly as he watched a few birds hop around on the pavement across the way. Being a bird might’ve been nice… At least they could fly away, right? “...I uh--...I just want to go home.” He admitted softly, a sigh pressing past his lips before he glanced at Amy again. “....if that’s okay..”

Miles 42 has a girlfriend who is a reader who has been friends with the twins since they were little and Miles 1610 suspects that her brother has a girlfriend but he doesn't know who. I want to know how the family and twin 1610 would find out, to that add that they have been together for more than two years 💜🖤

I love the idea of 42!Miles hiding stuff from his family bc it sounds so much like him, for all the stories about the twins 42! miles will be addressed as milo, simply so things don't get confused and 1610!miles will still get called miles, now onto the story. Also they're juniors :))))

To say you were friends with the Morales twins was an understatement, you guys were unbelievably close, you were always with one or both of them, from the moment you guys were seen playing together by your parents in the playground when you were little to now.

Slowly but surely, you had gotten a lot little closer to milo, something about him being so mysterious had reeled you in, don't get it wrong you were still close with miles, milo just tended stay on your mind. I mean why wouldn't he be? he looked like he was sculpted by gods and blessed by Aphrodite.

As time grew miles started acting weird, he would cancel on your hangouts, abruptly leave during randoms times, wouldn't answer his phone and more. You had started to hate when he would do this without an explanation but at the same time you are thankful for it happening, because of him ditching you (and milo) you were able to get closer to the other brother, getting to know him on more than a friend level

he was always more reserved but with getting to know him more you were able to open up that hard exterior. With the hangout without his brother, he started to look at you in a different way. One day he had gave you a letter telling you to meet him at the rooftop of his apartment, when you got there laid Milo with flowers in his hand asking you to be his girlfriend.

That was two years ago.

you both had agreed to keep the relationship a secret until you decided you were ready to share the big news. "Mi vida?? are you listening??" Milo asked waving his hand in your face. "huh??" you gave him a questioning look. He rolled his eyes before smiling and pulling you closer to him. You had suddenly remembered where you were, the rooftop, where you and Milo go for privacy.

"I said.." he continued, grabbing your chin and making you face him. "Miles is catching onto us" he added. you pulled away from him "What?! How?" you questioned, He pulled down his hoodie showing you a kiss mark that you left on his neck, you pulled you hand to your mouth from shock. How could you be so careless?

"Why haven't you wiped it off?" you asked him quietly. "Because I like it ma, you could mark me more if you would like, sé que te gusta" he fixed his hoodie while smirking at you. "Shut up" you say smacking his chest, suddenly the door to the rooftop was open, you scoot a little bit farther from milo as you looked to see who was at the door. Miles. "Wassup yall" he said walking up to you both. "Hey man" you smile to yourself slightly relieved.

"Yo you wouldn't believe what i saw the other day, Milo had a big ass kiss mark on his neck, damn near looked like he was attacked by something." Miles exclaimed dramatically. "Nigga shut up" Milo huffed. "oh? this is true?" you asked Milo playing dumb, milo rolled his eyes at you but couldn't even hold back his smile. "Literally look at him cheesin mad hard" You and miles began to laugh. "So big bro when am I gonna meet this girl?" Miles asked putting his arm around Milos shoulder.

"You aint" milo replied taking his others halfs arm off of his shoulder. "bro, WHY? stop tryna be mysterious cuz your not that guy" miles folded his arms, "you must be confused, because i am HIM" miles replied.

you stood there with the most puzzled look on your face. "whatever" you said walking away from their nonsense. As you had opened the door to the Morales home, Ms. Morales greeted you. "Hey dear, where are the boys?" she asked while she was cleaning the table.

"On the rooftop arguing about who knows what" you replied, rubbing your temples as if you had a headache. she sighed before making her way over to you and wrapping you in her arms. "Youre the only one who keeps me sane" she said patting your head and you giggled at her "There not THAT bad" you said before letting go, she gave you a knowing look before you laughed again.

"I'm gonna be in the boy's room if you need me" you turned and walking away hearing an "okay dear" behind you. You walked in the room sitting on Milos bed scrolling through your phone for a couple of minutes before hearing someone one come in. "mi amor" miles sighed before flopping on top of you. "Ugh Milos get OFF!" you groaned as the man was crushing your windpipe. "Missed you ma, you didn't miss me?" he asked while peppering your face with kissed.

"How could i not miss my big baby?" your fake pout at him while he rolls his eyes, getting off of you, before you could say anything Milos lips were on yours with his hand cupping your cheek, you squeal from shock but nonetheless kiss him back with the same passion, now having your hands around him arms before pulling apart. As you open your eyes you see that Milos eyes are wide open from shock, you turn to see what he is looking at only to see his family staring back at you.

Sorry for the rushed ending, took all my brainpower to see how this would play out~ purin🤎🫶🏽

okay here is what I have to offer (pt 1) (totally not projecting anything)

so like a couple months into this whole situationship flirty friends-to-lovers thing brock and reader have going on he notices she starts to seem a little… off? she’s tired and not as chatty or funny as usual, never wants to come out with the group for drinks or even really make small talk with anyone etc etc and he’s in his head like is it me?? did I do something?? and maybe he makes a comment to her closest friend at the office that like hey… has she seemed weird to you lately?? and the friend is like yeah this happens every once in a while it’s just mental health stuff she deals with she’ll get through it but it kills brock to think of you going through something like that alone, he realizes he wants to be there for you not just when you’re making him laugh so hard he can’t breathe, and smiling that pretty smile at the dumb note he left on your desk, he wants to be there all the fucking time no matter what. so the next friday when you again turn everyone down for drinks and head home he’s just like, no, I’m going to Do Something. so he texts you (and maybe y’all have done this a few times but haven’t in a while bc … depression) and is like “hey wanna have a movie night tonight?? I can bring food over or come pick you up and we can grab something on the way back to mine?” and she’s like a little caught off guard bc she hasn’t really been much fun lately and was worried maybe she was losing him but she was too caught up in her depression/anxiety to really do something about it but she tells him to come over and he does and brings so much food and way more snacks than are required for one night because “hey I didn’t know what you’d want!” and they watch some cheesy rom com or something and slowly snuggle towards each other on the couch until she is like fully on his lap and she’s like “hey um, thank you for doing this, I’m sorry I’ve been a little distant lately” and he’s like “it’s no problem, I wanted to, (friends name) told me maybe something was up and I thought I could maybe make you feel a little better at least for one night” and she thinks she could kiss him and cry at the same time but they are not There yet so she opts to place a kiss on his like jaw/cheek and is like “you really didn’t have to do all this but it means a lot to me, thank you” and he just shrugs and says “I like doing things for you” and kisses the top of her head and at this point her heart is BEATING out of her chest and she pretends to check the time on her phone and is like “hey it’s getting kinda late, (it’s like 9:30 but if she doesn’t ask now she never will) do you wanna stay here tonight maybe?” and hes like I would love to but I can’t leave coolie and milo alone for the night, wanna come sleep at mine? and he’s like you can bring your dog and they can all have a sleepover too and she’s like oh we’re having sleepovers now? are we 12 year old girls? and hes like it was your suggestion missy and she’s like good point let me pack a bag and the whole drive to his place she’s giddy like she is a 12 year old girl going to a sleepover and she’s been to his place before but she’s never slept there let alone done All of This so when she goes to get out of the car she’s like wait oh my god what if he just feels bad for me what if he’s just doing all of this because (friend) told him I was depressed and he feels like he can’t say no but as if on cue he just goes “don’t move” and comes around to her door and opens it for her with a cheesy smile on his face and it makes her laugh and god he loves her laugh and then grabs her bag from where its sitting at her feet and holds his hands out to take her dog so she can get up (I’m imagining its like a fairly small dog that can chill on her lap, active enough to hike and whatever but not as big as brock’s dogs) and he hands her back the dog and takes her bag and leads her to the elevator and while they walk down the hall to his place she’s like “thank you for doing this, you really didn’t have to but I like spending time with you” and hes like “you think we’re having a sleepover because I don’t?”

pt 2:

What The Redacted Characters Would Get

(this is just my opinion, but as a barista this is also the correct opinion /j)

Shaw Pack:

David- you might think he'd just get like, a black coffee, you'd be wrong. He gets a hot white mocha triple with no whip, only sometimes he'll get it iced. Depending on how exhausted he is, he'll add more shots.

(dumb head cannon time, a regular (s) comes in and gets a hot triple white mocha and a iced triple white mocha with no whip. It's a couple, and they alternate who gets the drinks every couple days. I think it'd be kind of cute if David's dad and mom used to do the same, and now David drinks a hot triple white mocha with no whip because of his parents, specifically his dad)

Asher- he used to get pink drinks all the time, but then David realized that all the refreshers have a shit ton of caffeine, so now he gets a strawberry creme frappe with a scoop of vanilla bean powder. It's still very sweet, and a lot of sugar, but it does not have caffeine which everyone is appreciative of.

Milo- iced caramel macchiato with almond milk and a quad shot, this man is lactose intolerant and you cannot tell me otherwise. And no, he does not care that Starbucks doesn't make a 'correct' macchiato, it tastes good and has caffeine, so he doesn't care.

side note, Aggro has tried a pup cup before, it did give him explosive diarrhea (as it does to a lot of pets). Milo will never give him another one, however, sweetheart did make the mistake of feeding him one early in their relationship, and it also ended an explosive diarrhea. So Aggro is no longer allowed pup cups

Christian- Normally he gets a iced Americano, but if he's going to a pack meeting he gets a pink drink just to spite Asher.

Angel- a Connoisseur of seasonal drinks. Tries each of the seasonal releases until they find one they love, and drinks it until it's gone. If there aren't any seasonal drinks, or they don't like them, they get a peppermint mocha frappe (because yes, Starbucks does have peppermint year round)

Baabe- Iced matcha latte with caramel syrup and drizzle. Matcha has a decent amount of caffeine and Starbuck matcha is also mostly sugar, so it's a nice pick me up. If it's too cold for that, they'll get a hot chocolate.

Sweetheart- This bitch (affectionate) gets two vanilla sweet cream nitro cold brews and a venti cup of ice, bc the biggest size of nitro cold brew Starbucks can legally sell is a grande bc of all the caffeine. So this bitch (again, affectionate) gets two and pours them into one cup. Milo is very concerned for their health.

Darlin'/Tank- like sweetheart, I see them wanting/needing a shit ton of caffeine, so they also get two nitro cold brews. But they'd probably go from the salted caramel cream cold brew and would drink them separately.

Solaire Clan: (idc if canonically caffeine doesn't affect them, I make my own rules bitch)

William- Hot mocha with raspberry syrup. I know that sounds weird, but it basically tastes like chocolate strawberries. His drinks have changed over time, but currently this is his favorite.

Alexis- Blonde roast with caramel and oatmilk. This sounds simple, but fun fact: Starbucks stops brewing blonde & dark after 11am (mostly smaller stores do this), and she always comes after that and ends up having the baristas make a pour over, then bitches over how long it takes to get her drink.

Vincent- French vanilla latte, which at Starbucks is vanilla and hazelnut, so it's very sweet. He also gets it with oatmilk, just bc it tastes good. Gets it either hot or iced depending.

Sam- London fog latte, no water. I see him as a tea guy, idk. Sometimes he gets a few shots in it, but it depends.

Lovely- chai creme frappe. They like chai (even if the Starbucks chai is not even close in taste to real chai lol) and normally get it with cinnamon powder on top and in it.

D.A.M.N:

Gavin- Changes every time, since he doesn't need nutrients, he just wants sugar and fun tasting shit (this also goes for the vamps, but more for Gavin) he will make up the most random combinations, but if it's super busy he'll try to be simpler for the poor baristas. Mostly fruity combos and overly sweet frappes.

Damien- iced soy latte with 3 stevia, with a minimum of four shots, maximum he's done is, like 11 (Yes, I have put 11 shots in an espresso drink, I imagine it tasted like shit). He's basic but really just needs caffeine and something to hydrate so he'll ask for a water too.

Huxely- matcha. and if you say it tastes like grass to this man, he will say yes, it does, but he likes grass. Probably gets a matcha frappe to be specific, sometimes asks for vanilla syrup. Very sweet and caffeinated.

Lasko- here's the dilemma, tired boi needs caffeine, but anxious boi does not need caffeine. So with friends around he gets decaf, but by himself... Iced brown sugar shaking espresso with six blonde shots. No, he's not hiding his caffeine intake, he wouldn't be very good at it if he tried it lol.

Kody- tiny bitch boy (extremely hostile) gets an extra dry vanilla cappuccino, and will send it back at least once because he says "it's not dry enough".

Freelancer- strawberry acia lemonade refresher, with peach juice, no strawberry pieces, and light ice. That's their go to, however, if they need more caffeine, they will order just an iced quad espresso with liquid sugar.

Calleum- there's this weird "secret menu" item called the cotton candy frappe, which is really just a vanilla bean frap with raspberry syrup, that is what he gets, and he would also like chocolate drizzle and chocolate crumbles on top. He is not allowed to have caffeine, I don't care if it affects daemons or not, he's not allowed to have it.

Everyone else:

Aaron- boring bitch (affectionate) just gets a medium roast coffee with light cream. He wants to put the splenda in himself, I don't know why but he does. Smartass has convinced him to get an espresso frappuccino with a shot on top, he didn't hate it. So that's progress.

SmartAss- gets an espresso frappuccino, three shots, add whip. Basically an iced expresso with milk, but blended with some sugar. If it is freezing cold, they will just get it a triple expresso with heavy cream and sugar, but that is rare.

Ollie- very simple, non-fat vanilla latte, sometimes gets it iced, sometimes it's hot. However, he will always ask for a pup cup to take home for his cat (Yes, I did forget his cat's name) because unlike Aggro, it does not give Ollie's cat explosive diarrhea.

Baby- Get a sweet cream cold brew with light ice and extra sweet cream. Also asks for extra vanilla. For some reason I get vanilla flavored vibes from Ollie and Baby as a couple, not in a sexy way, just in a flavoring way. idk.

Geordie- He needs caffeine, but if he is over caffeinated his brain will basically short circuit and then he will take a two hour long nap. So he sticks to iced coffee, with sweet cream and caramel syrup. However, he also likes the hot chocolate with caramel in it as well. It depends on the day.

Cutie- iced shaken espresso with chocolate cream cold foam. The shaken expressos come with classic sweetener, which they like, and an extra shot. They will mix in the cold foam and the espresso so it tastes more like chocolate, without having to add any other syrups.

Elliot- French vanilla iced coffee with two blonde shots and soy milk. He gives me soy milk vibes, for some unknown reason. He doesn't always get the blonde shots, but more often than not he does. Iced coffee only has so much caffeine, and he has lots of work to do.

Sunshine- a medicine ball, which is another name for a honey citrus mint tea. It is jade citrus mint & peach tranquility tea, half steamed lemonade, half hot water, with honey blend. They like it because it's sweet, and doesn't have too much caffeine.

Guy- He tries all the different TikTok drinks, his favorite being an iced white mocha, sub whip for sweet cream cold foam, with caramel drizzle and lining the cup (This started being ordered like a couple months ago, and it hasn't stopped lol)

Honey- a honey almond flat white, with extra honey blend (This was not intentionally a pun, but now it is) it's sweet, but they can add as many espresso shots as they need. And they need it.

But then I got older and stopped thinking about things in black and white, I realized that Rogue doesn't give a shit since her two adopted moms also have an age difference. I think a lot of Rogue "fans" project their thoughts and desires onto Rogue instead of accepting some of the less stereotypical sweet "Southern Belle" image they like to compartmentalize her into (one reason why 80s Rogue is superior to 90s Rogue is she's a subversion of the stereotype instead playing it straight like the more palatable to general audiences 90s version of the character). Looking back, I like how the "I can't touch a man" problem was sorta resolved with Roguneto in AoA, so instead Rogue's character focus in that universe is being a team leader and going apeshit to protect her son instead of angsting over Remy and how she can't have sex with him.

First off I think that regardless of context concepts like the "correct" love interest are never good. I think that's just become more and more obvious over the years as fandom has become more toxic and more people feel comfortable calling you shit like an abuser for liking a "problematic" or hero/villain kinda ship. The ships are fictional, the people aren't. Who gives a fuck if people ship milo from atlantis and yzma from the emperor's new groove (yes this is a real ship i've seen) it's not my problem. Neither of us will gain or lose brownie points with a god or whatever because we shipped the right ship. Not an attack on you just my Thoughts because that's a common issue now in fandom that I know I certainly didn't see it at these scales when I was a teen.

It never occurred to me before how the age gap between Mystique and Irene would effect her perspective but that’s such a good and interesting point! We’re not clear on even when Mystique was born or how old she really was when she met Irene and we know Irene is like easily 100 when she dies. She and Mystique met in the late 1800s — even if you keep her dying in the 80s and don’t fudge around the timeline at all for the current date 1880 to 1980 is a century. Rogue was raised by geriatric lesbians. Idk WHAT this means for her psychologically or in how her love map got formed but it’s a Thing lol. I think the big takeaway really from being raised by mystiny is really that she expects a certain level of partner care and maturity and in syncness. Say what you want about Irene and Mystique as people but they’re absolutely an in love and loving couple. They’re totally in sync and have complete faith in each other, they’re each other’s rocks. Which ofc is why Mystique went so off the rails when Irene died.

Magneto is like, 100 now sure. He’s also been de-aged like, twice, once that I remember to the point of being a fucking toddler again. This is automatically so fucking wild and impossible to map to anything real world you’re just gonna hurt yourself trying to comprehend the ramifications of that catastrophic life change on even how the fuck he STILL REMEMBERS HIS PREVIOUS LIFE AS AN ADULT AFTER THAT let alone his future relationships with anyone lol.

I think you’re very right about that. When you sit down and read Rogue’s comics through all at once the difference between her in the 80s and her in the 90s is wild and not in a good way. All the edges get knocked off of her, her morals become simplified, they gloss over her tense relations with the rest of the X-Men even more than they did before. She was created with the kind of character design slogan “the girl from the wrong side of the river” and it very much seems like few people remember that when writing or drawing her and I know why that is to some extent — stripping away her “problematic” nature (remember, Rogue DID stalk and attempt to murder Dazzler and did some other fucked up shit), stressing her more mainstream insecurities, removing her heavy metal/punk/butch interests and making her more in line with a 90s pinup girl in looks makes her more appealing and fuckable to the mainstream predominately male audience of comics. Alt girls are niche. She only got to get her tat sleeve and be a motorcycle mechanic and sing rock songs and be really wild again when Claremont takes her over again in X-Treme X-Men in 2001 and it really does feel like a breath of fresh air. She’s rough and coarse and rude again. She and Storm are at each other’s throats at times. She’s angry and she’s reckless and she’s funny and she’s you know That Bitch.

“Okay but characters change and grow, they kind of have to, and just because their creator intended them to be one way doesn’t mean they have to stay that way,” some will say and this is true! Part of why I like Roguneto in general is we just generally skip all the gross borderline fetishist talk about how she can’t fuck because she’d kill a dude or whatever. Magneto fucks. He just DOES. With romy there’s SUCH a hyper focus by the writers on their sex life half the time not their overall relationship and it’s just weird and gross. Like they fuck, they figure it out and she works thru her fear of touch— can we talk about rogue’s mental instability and how that affects the relationship and remy’s fear of rejection/abandonment now?????????????? THAT'S WHAT I'M ACTUALLY HERE FOR!!!!!! YALL CAN'T SELL ME SMUT SO STOP OBSESSING OVER IT LIKE PRETEENS AND TELL ME ABOUT THEIR MESSY RELATIONSHIP DRAMA!!!!!!

Rogue also tends to just be fucking bonkers more when she’s with Magneto and I like that. She’s less southern belle and more fuck it we ball and it’s refreshing. It’s a nice combo of personalities platonically and/or romantically because Magneto is really an EXCELLENT emotional/mental rock which she needs and Rogue is 10000000% not afraid to call him a lil bitch to his face and he NEEDS people around him to help keep his ego/doom spirals in check.

Their arguments feel more like real conflicts and debates. When they team up it feels more solid and like a partnership. They just feel like there's more weight and oomph in their interactions. Magneto has such a power and gravity to him. He's literally one of the immovable tent poles of the X-Verse. They'll be finding ways to keep him on the field even when he'd be 1,000 in comic years. So by interacting with him it let's her be more of a serious character. She gets to square up unstoppable force to immovable object and really test herself against him while also knowing at the end they're gonna shake and say "good game."

You don't get that with Remy because Remy's not solid like that, he's built to move. He's meant to be flexible. If you take away his flexibility (morally, in personality, in allegiance, in wants, in self-image etc) then he's just not him anymore. But the issue there is Rogue is also malleable — she's literally absorbing other people. That's two rubber people trying to help each other stand. It ain't gonna work and none of the comic writers wanna put in the real effort to MAKE it work. (fic writers ofc, have cracked this code and know how to write romy who can actually work and be compelling even into the modern era)

for me, Remy was a good first love interest for her and I love his character and I still love their dynamic — just now in a more platonic way. Meanwhile Magneto is a better second and potentially endgame relationship for her. He's more where she is in life now and he both gives her someone to depend on when she's going fucking batshit from her powers and also someone to sharpen her claws on who can take it and dish it back.

Vincent: babying us to the highest extent. We probably broke our foot doing something dumb like breathing or some shit but Vincent will baby us and take care of us regardless.

David- he is gonna call us dumb while doing everything for us. Can't put on pants? He's gonna help you and call you a little snot when we try to baby him.

Meta: What do you associate with your character (like, songs, images, troupes, ect)?

OOC// Note: We're gonna talk mental health here, so maybe skip this if you're not feeling it. Also I talk a lot idek if it's all super relevant but I don't shut up.

I sometimes struggle with these but ig it's a time to ramble about my characters kinda day lol. I have a bunch of songs on Milo's playlist that remind me of him and his past and his whole vibe. Which his whole vibe is the theme of like hope versus hopelessness. I'm mean and ruined his life as he was finally beginning to get more of a grip on his mental health and life in general- when he was really starting to feel hopeful about the future. Because it's an interesting point, when you become more aware of your mental health, and you start to recognize the patterns, start to understand the effects, but you can't help it, or you want to self-destruct, or you don't care enough to do the things you know will help. Milo's a very personal character to me, more so than Arden, honestly. You know, all characters have an aspect of yourself in them, but I did dump a lot onto him, and so much of his history involves themes that I love and really get to me.

Anyway, trope-y wise, (and apologies bc I never know the like specific names of character tropes and I can never get through the massive list on tvtropes to find em) you know, widely speaking, he's kind of a combo stoner/skater/gamer, but he's also very like 'the heart of the group' kind of character. He has a lot of love and kindness in his heart, and he cares so much about people- more than he does himself. He always wants to cheer people up, cheer them on, he'll be there to listen and support and will make himself look stupid if it gets someone to smile. He puts other people before himself. A bit of comic relief/sunshine boy/soft boi/defender of the innocent. He's been through some awful shit, has felt miserable, and he doesn't want that for other people. I think of, like, Garfield Logan (aka Beast Boy) and Joker Moreau from Mass Effect.

Manga SPOILER: I SO had the feeling Alice would be bad news and was just playing them. I'm so excited how the events will unfold. If she detests Milo for being "human" and showing emotion she must dislike winter too for treating her well in the past. The way she talked about Winter made it seem like she thinks Winter is gullible for believing her act. Winter has always seemed like the most human part of the moriarty family who only did a job bc she had to. She even gave clues to ron when she kidnapped amamiya to solve the case, despite telling Milo "she'll go all out this time" - if that is winter going all out she's clearly not doing it bc she gets pleasure out of hurting people. She also gave ron the files about the bloody trip case. I for one want to see winter join ron in taking down the moriarty family. Afterall she said she doesn't consider herself part of the family anymore.

Before this chapter, I actually thought that she faked her death (with help), then got her act together and started working even harder for revenge against Milo. It's weird how a two year old is like, "I'm bored! Guess I'll act dumb, since I'm so smart!" Like, bruh! I wonder if she has that thing where she remembers everything since birth (yes, it's an actual thing, but it's super rare)? 🤔

You're right! Oh my gosh, imagine hating people JUST because they're nice to you! 😭 Alice doesn't deserve Winter's love and care!!! Give back all the kindness she gave you!!!! Winter has seriously been all melancholy because she thought you were dead!!! 😭 I wonder how Winter feels about all this???? Does she feel played? Does she feel like a fool? Does she feel hurt? Is she angry? Sad? Happy that Alice is actually alive??? Maybe everything all at once?

ALSO! Milo is like, "Does Winter know?" WHICH IMPLIES THAT WINTER AND ALICE WERE CLOSER THAN THEY WERE WITH THE BROTHERS!!!! Also, when Alice says, "She just thinks of me as her poor little sister." It comes off making it sound like, Winter felt like she HAD to take care of Alice, but I'm not sure if that's true. I'm actually the youngest in my family, so I can't talk from an older sibling point of view, but I honestly just think Winter took care of Alice because she genuinely loved her. And yes, Winter is definitely more human than the others. I've also had the thought that Winter didn't enjoy killing people and she was just doing what she was told (that's where my oneshot of her and Eli came from). I wonder if she didn't see Ron as part of her family, because she didn't want to see another good man turned evil? 🤔

Yeah, I'm excited to see them teaming up, too! Winter would be such a great ally to have, and I've tossed aside my bias with that line. She's got the in's and out's with the Moriarty family, she knows the layout of their home, she's a criminal so she probably can get inside Alice's brain a little better than Ron (but at the same time, Alice was fake her entire life, so who knows with that), and she can disguise herself (and possibly others) in any way she needs to. Dang, Ron and Toto be pulling in an unstoppable team right now.
