Hey weren't we literally just talking about this last night? 😂 And I think our conclusions were that the difference between this and Applied Behavioural Analysis bullshit Allistics put autistic people through are again a) CONSENT and b) yeah she's not trying to modify his behaviour if he really doesn't want to do something. She establishes trust, pays attention to what he responds to, and what he seems to want and then is sure to make that happen.

There are multiple ways to train a dog. Some of them are abusive as fuck and sure the dog does what you want but at what cost? That's what we mean when we say "don't treat autistic people like dogs." What we should probably say is "don't abuse autistic people" because it's abusive to any living being to force them to behave in ways counter to their natural needs, which is exactly what ABA does from what I've seen and heard from other Autistic people talking about it.

"Bellara!"

She pokes her head out from behind the tower of blankets she's carrying to see Davrin standing in front of an aravel, Assan beside him.

"Davrin!" she says, dumping her burden on the ground and rushing over to hug him excitedly. "And Assan! What are you two doing here?"

"Assan was visiting his brothers and sisters. Thought I'd stop by and see if you needed help," he says, eyes following a large group of city elves.

"Oh, we definitely do!" she catches another Veil Jumper hurrying past with an armful of camping equipment and relieves them of it. "Here! You take this, and we'll go over and set up the temporary camp on the other side of the river. Another group from Ostwick arrived this morning!"

He takes the awkwardly shaped assortment of of poles and canvas, and follows Bellara's stack of blankets down the incline to the bank near the owl statue, which has thankfully been cleared of poisonous plantlife.

"You sure this is the best place? It's pretty exposed."

"Oh, we'll have guards on them for tonight, and then tomorrow we can find somewhere better! It's just been so busy, with all the new arrivals, we're still trying to sort out the best places for housing."

Bellara immediately sets to work setting up a tent, the surety and speed of her hands speaking to recent practice. Davrin does the same— although his own efforts are hampered by Assan's curious pawing at everything.

"Are there enough city elves for a settlement, already?" he wonders.

It's a long way from the south— he hadn't expected word to travel so quickly.

"Some of them are from the city! But a lot of clans have people who want to stay, too."

He pauses, hands stilling in the middle of a knot.

"Huh. I guess they would. It's strange to think about."

"It'll take a little getting used to," Bellara agrees, draping the canvas over the top of the frame. "But it'll be nice, I think! To have somewhere to come home to, you know?"

"Are you staying?" he says, surprised.

He doesn't know why he imagined she wouldn't. They've all been in the Lighthouse less frequently, in recent days— everyone needed for different parts of the cleanup. It makes sense she'd want a place of her own. But it's… uncomfortable, in a way. To think he wouldn't be able to find her easily.

"Yeah!" she says, beaming. "Or, I'm thinking about it, at least. I know Rook will still need our help, but with the eluvians I don't think it'll be a problem."

She crawls into the newly constructed tent, arranging the bedroll.

"Have you thought about it?" she asks, poking her head out. "Staying here, I mean. You'd be welcome."

His immediate thought is denial— his place is with the Wardens. He has a purpose; a duty to fulfill. But he stops, before he answers.

There are other things to consider, now, especially with the Wardens' purpose changing. What might be best for Assan, for one thing. And, maybe… what he wants, too.

"I haven't," he says. "But I might."

"We could really use your help!" Bellara says, eyes shining excitedly. "With all of the camping and hunting. There's still a lot of monsters around here you could fight, too— oh, and Assan could see his family all the time!"

"That's true," he concedes, sitting in the entrance to his newly-finished tent. "But I don't know if it'd be the right choice for me. Coming here feels like I'd be abandoning my oath."

"But there won't be any more Blights, right?" Bellara says, crossing her legs in front of her. "So the Wardens are going to have to find something else to do, now. You could be a protector! Like Assan's family."

She puts out a hand, and Assan runs up to rub against it, squawking happily.

The idea is appealing. There's still Blight left, of course, but it is receding, and Davrin's never had any special ability to sense or understand it, like Antoine. He doesn't know how much help he can be to them, going forward.

And he's been thinking, recently, of home. Wondering if his clan would want to see him— what they'd think of Assan. If they'd be proud of him.

"It seems like you really want me to stay," he says, raising his eyebrows questioningly.

She looks away, fiddling with the tiny river rocks before her feet.

"Why?"

"Well, you have a lot of experience with living outside of a clan," she says quickly, precisely; like she's rehearsed her reasons. "And there are a lot of city elves coming here, so there could be problems— culturally, I mean. You could help us understand each other better. And the Arlathvhen's coming up, and all the hahren have been asking me things about Elgar'nan and Ghilan'nain— because they're going to discuss what we want to do now, about the religious stuff— and it would be really great to have someone else here who saw them and could answer questions. And I miss…"

She stops. Her eyes dart up, nervously. She looks away.

"Me? Assan?"

"Both of you," she says, quietly. She rubs against some dirt on the sole of her boot. "I mean, I miss everyone, but I just— I feel like I don't know what I'm doing half the time. Everyone keeps asking me my opinion about what we should do with the Archive, and the vallaslin, and the gods, and I just feel like I'm… faking it, or something? They see me as an expert, just because I was there, and I don't really have any answers."

"And you think I do?" Davrin asks, mildly incredulous. "We saw the same things, Bellara."

"I know! But you… I don't know, you always seem so confident. Sometimes I don't even feel like what happened to us was real. Even if you don't always agree with me, it would be nice to have someone else who was there, who… understands."

"I don't know why," she says, a melancholy to her voice, "but I feel so… lonely, sometimes. There are so many people here— I know it doesn't make any sense."

He thinks of how often he's found himself alone after mealtime, recently. Just Assan for company.

Things are different, now, in a way he can't define. He's different.

"I know what you mean," he tells her. "There's no going back, for us."

"Yes!" she says. "It's like they're living in a different place, or something. People ask me to tell them what happened like it's… just another story. Like it never happened to anyone."

She's quiet, for a moment. Looks back toward the trees.

"If you don't want to stay, I'm not trying to make you, or anything," she says. "But if you're looking for something to so, somewhere to go… well, I guess I'm asking."

She turns back to look at him, the same resolve in her eyes he saw during the battle with Elgar'nan.

"No, I am asking. I miss you, and I want you here. I want… you make me feel safe, Davrin. Grounded."

She pauses for a moment, hands worrying the edge of her boot.

"Is that weird to say?" she asks before he can reply. "It's weird, isn't it? I'm sorry, I shouldn't have—"

"Stop," he says, raising a hand.

He falls silent, thinking about his response.

"I don't know what I'm going to do, yet," he tells her. He sees her face fall, slightly. "I have to talk with Antoine and Evka. But if they don't need me… I think I'd like to stay. It'd be good to be… home."

She smiles. Hugs him, again. Hums, the rest of the time they spend at the camp, together. As they walk back to the camp she runs out ahead of him with Assan, chasing him and being chased, in turn.

She looks back at him, and there's something in her eyes that makes him wonder if there's another reason she wants him to stay. Something she doesn't know how to say, yet.

Something else to discover in Arlathan, perhaps.

Hey I was re-reading ECM and I noticed how awesome your the writing style was and wanted to know if you'd be willing to share how you write like that?

(I want to preface any notes here by saying I started seriously writing when I was 12 and I am now... not that. So I have almost 20 years of writing under my belt)

I've actually done a post about writing that gives a few pointers so I won't re-hash those points, but will add a few extras about crafting 💖💖

I know I said I wouldn't re-hash things, but this point always bears merit in saying: the first thing you write is the worst thing you write. It's called a first draft for a reason and you shouldn't be precious about it. That means don't go stressing about getting your phrasing perfect. Rewriting your draft can do wonders (and that doesn't mean you have to completely change things on the rewrite!), especially if you're not a confident writer.

Vary the start of your sentences. It's a very easy habit to fall into (I still do it all the dang time); you write sentence after sentence starting the the subject ('It was...'; 'Peter did...'; 'She saw...' etc). It makes your writing feel repetitive. We fall into patterns in our writing and forcing yourself to think about how you can change up the way your sentences begin within a paragraph is an invaluable challenge. Consider your paragraphs too: when I'm on my first edit, I pay close attention to how they start to ensure they don't all begin the same way. That doesn't mean every sentence has to start differently, but keeping things mixed up adds variety.

Avoid info-dumping. Exposition (where you give relevant background information) is a useful feature but it slows the pace of your story significantly. What I see a lot of fanfic writers do is freeze time (quite often at the very start of the story) to give us 500+ words of information that could have been drip fed over the chapter (or several chapters). I'm absolutely not saying I'm innocent of this - I do it all the time, including the opening to ECM! - but something that I find can help is to a) make it interesting by setting up a mystery that the exposition doesn't answer, b) intersperse exposition with description to keep up the pace or c) try to make your exposition feel as authentic as possible to your narrator.

Be decisive: avoid phrases like 'seemed to' and 'felt like' etc. Instead of, "She seemed to glow with happiness' make it 'She glowed with happiness'. Simple changes like this just make you seem more sure of yourself as a writer because you're committing to the image. Again, this kind of indefinite phrasing is an easy habit to fall into but it's a very easy fix! Very often, the sentence will still make perfect sense if you simply delete these phrases (although sometimes it will need a few minor tweaks).

Metaphors, not similes. Honestly this is just a continuation of the previous rule! Rather than, 'It looked like an ocean of silver', 'An ocean of silver swelled before them' is much more interesting and committed to the bit! Again, that's not to say you can't use similes at all! They're great, but you should ask yourself if a metaphor would be better.

Don't be afraid to extend your metaphors. Extended metaphors are such fun. Consider my earlier example : 'An ocean of silver swelled before them'. If I was to extend this, I'd think about other images associated with the ocean. Waves, tides, sea creatures, the scent and sound of the water. And since I've compared it to silver, I'd also consider things that are semantically connected: gold, copper, jewels like emeralds, sapphires, pearls etc. Then I'd start crafting additional clauses/sentences to build upon that original metaphor.

Brush up on a wider range of writer methods. Honestly, teaching English helped me out a bunch here, but here are a few of my faves: polysyndeton: this is where you list with the same coordinating conjunctions (and, but, so, for etc) rather than commas. If you look at my writing you'd see I do this all the damn time. Anaphora: in the typical form I use it, it's where the start of successive clauses begin with the same opening word/phrase (think like MLK's 'I have a dream speech). Best used in a group of three in my experience. Again I use this all the time. The opposite of this (where successive clauses end in the same word/phrase) is called epistrophe. Oxymoron: a fun one. It's a paradoxical phrase (e.g. burning cold, loving hate etc) Hyperbole: an over-exaggeration (e.g. It's boiling hot. I walked a million miles to get here!). Very fun to use with an unreliable narrator or you want to get across just how unbearable/significant something is (but the key here is that it's got to be obvious you're over-exaggerating!) Synaesthesia: where you mix different senses together (e.g. The lights sang in harmony; the room smelled cold).

Planning does wonders for your story structure. For the longest time I was a 'pantster' and would just throw myself in writing on vibes only, but now I find that knowing where I want to take my story makes it much easier to place critical themes and the much loved foreshadowing.

I hope at least some of these can be helpful to you! These are methods that have helped me over the years, but the beauty of writing is of course that all of us over time develop our own 'voice'! Just because I say these are things I do doesn't mean that's what everyone has to do!

I still think about my mutuals tag where he said that he thinks Johnny feels so much and so deeply that it literally drove him crazy. And yeah. Just think about it constantly. It's. The statement I associate with him. The first thing I think of when I think of him.

I really, really, really dislike when people paint Johnny as this totally unfeeling asshole. Or at least, I heavily disagree with it. That's not to say he isn't an asshole, he 100% is. He's a jerk to the people around him, and of course there really is no excuse for how he treats people. But explanations =/= excuses.

I feel when people try to paint him that way, it comes from a place that lacks understanding or even an unwillingness to understand. This goes hand in hand where I'll see these people call him an unfeeling asshole while using terms associated with cluster b disorders and using the social weight they carry to demonize him, a very prevalent problem reflected in society and internet pop psychology culture.

They'll take the fact he's a 'narcissistic junkie', and not only at the same time use it to demonize people with NPD, but also drug users. It's just a very lazy way to paint a picture of his characterization, by using loaded terms as a crutch and letting their social weight, using yours and others people's biases, do the job for you. Like man, if you're going to make a critique of his character can we at least actually put some effort behind it.

Like. They think he's a user who's an unfeeling asshole to people just for the sake of being one. They see him engaging in these self endangering, self harming, self sabotaging behaviors and brush it off as nothing more than him being like that simply because he likes it, that he relishes in it even. Simply because he wants and chooses to be like that.

They don't see him using as a way of numbing himself (this especially with the fact drugs are the first thing he goes for when Alt breaks it off with him). They don't see that constant toxic push and pull in his relationships as self sabotage. They don't see the fact him going on that OP was a suicide mission. Literally.

I truly believe he never intended to come back from that mission, evident in his last exchange with Kerry, evident in a LOT of his own lyrics. (Black Dog, Ballad of Buck Ravers.)

Johnny clearly is passionate. He clearly has things he cares about. He clearly feels.

I'd even go so far as to say he genuinely does care about the people in his life, he just simply doesn't know how to show it properly or in a way that's healthy for anyone involved. Even when Alt breaks up with him, and he pushes her away for it, he still ends up chasing after her before she's even left the venue. He still tries to protect her. When Alt gets abducted, and yeah, he's being a leadheaded stubborn idiot about it, he still goes after her.

And even if it's self aggrandizing in a lot of ways, he still cares about her life enough to raid a whole fucking tower for her. Even if it's more in the view of what Arasaka took from him, than what it did to her, he still cares about her in his own way. He still grieves her. He's still broken up when she dies right in front of him, and he still acts out even if it's violent and angry. His grief has ALWAYS manifested this way.

When he sees the headlines about Kerry, he asks V to check up on him, to visit him. He even asks Kerry about it because (I think) it came from a place of genuine worry shown the best way he can show it, a straightforward question and dropping it when he gets an answer, no matter how truthful the answer is. When Kerry gets the idea for a one time reunion, Johnny agrees to it because he thinks 'Kerry needs this'.

I also think people see that he's a very angry person and attribute 'unfeeling' to that. Because to them, to a lot of people, anger isn't a valid emotion nor one with as much value as happiness or sadness. That's it's something less than. Even if anger was all he felt, it's still a feeling. He still feels it. He still feels.

His anger, though it's execution is obviously a problem, it's extremely fucking justified and valid. It's born from the mistreatment of a system that only destroys people's lives. Born from a system that only knows how to take, how to hurt, how to kill.

The same system that took, not just a literal piece of Johnny, but so many pieces of his identity and his life that he literally tries to project himself as an entirely new person to escape this.

Johnny cares about how the system treats people, especially people like him. How it uses people and chews them up and discards them when it's taken all it can from them. Johnny cares so much he becomes not just a voice, but thinks he is- and in a lot of ways he does really become one- a symbol for people like him.

That OP functioned as another rescue mission for Alt, another statement for his ideals, and his blaze of glory to go out on his own terms.

Johnny cares about things. Johnny cares about people. He has feelings. Complicated, convoluted, deeply traumatized feelings. Feelings that are so intense, that it harms him. Feelings that are so intense, that it bleeds from him and harms others, too.

And honestly, I'd say the one and only person he stopped truly caring about was himself. A long, long time ago.

Rose Cousland: Yes, she marries Alistair (because a) they just went through a blight together so why not and b) she's A Cousland). They both propose at the same time, much to everyone's amusement, but she lets Alistair make the Official Announcement. They get married in the Denerim Chantry because he's King at this point and it's practically expected of them to do it there. Rose isn't wild about all the bells & whistles but once the Diplomatic Gifts start rolling in she manages to be okay with it ^-^

Marian Hawke doesn't get married. Fenris had made his thoughts on the subject clear and the fact that he left because she spared Anders made their break loud and clear. Despite that she still loves him and hopes he feels the same (he does, they're just stubborn about it). She made the joke to Varric that they should get married for tax reasons, and she wanted to be Viscountess of Kirkwall, but he knew that it was just a joke and left it at that.

Aaliyah Trevelyan does marry Cullen. It happens like it does in Tresspasser, during the Summit about the Inquisition (when they're on a recess) he asks in the shade of a tree- when it's just the two of them plus their new mabari. She says yes but doesn't want to make a big fuss about it, Josie has enough to deal with during the summit. So it's just them plus Dorian, Josie, Leliana, and Iron Bull in a small chantry just outside of Val Royeaux.

Zea Laidir and Emmrich to get married. He asks when the Squad all gather at the Dellamorte Estate for a get-together; Lucanis cooks for everyone (even though he could have the kitchen staff do it) and brings up bottles from the wine cellar, everyone gets a bit tipsy and she thinks it's a joke at first but then realizes that he's serious and tries not to cry but ends up just a little. Everyone claps when she says yes. They don't have an 'official' Chantry marriage, Zea doesn't want all that fuss- so Emmrich compromises with a handfasting at the LoF enclave. The party Isabela threw for them afterwards is still remembered years after.

question for in the tags time!!! do ur wardens/hawkes/inquisitors ever get married. who proposes. where do they get married and by what cultural or religious tradition

my thoughts on bda 6

beware that im not someone who usually has super outstanding analyses or theorizes very often BUT i wanted to get my thoughts out since we're right at the tail end of tetro pink:

based on what we know from the investigation and the states of the remaining cast, i don't see this being anything other than a sacrificial suicide. as of right now, it simply doesn't make any sense to me that any of the other students would go after or be able to overpower HAYASHI MAI of all people. sure, she wasn't in the best state due to loyalty game, but i still think she would have a lot of fight left in her.

after going through the body investigation, it sounds to me like hayashi stabbed herself. the reason for her being in the actual pool itself is pretty vague. "Look at her hands... They're all cut up." "Do you think she fought back?... But it doesn't exactly look messy." depending on how the cuts looks, it's likely they come from hayashi's hands slipping - it's quite common in murder cases when a killer stabs their victim multiple times that their hand ends up slipping and gets cut on the blade due to the amount of blood. if i had to guess? maybe the length of the sword or some type of liquid like water caused her hand to slip.

since hayashi is the one who took inventory of all the supplies in the arsenal, it wouldn't be a far fetched idea to believe that she used that knowledge to her advantage in order to supply herself with a weapon (likely a sword, considering there is an exit wound on her back) and use bombs in order to A. deter the students from specific rooms due to there being no evidence, or B. using them to put more emphasis on certain rooms she wants them to investigate.

wada masanari — he... quite literally didn't have access to the basement where hayashi's body was found. he's also been incredibly weak and sick, not having eaten in DAYS. there's also a vast weight and height difference; wada being 154cm, 73.4lb and hayashi being 198cm. even in her wounded state, she could easily overpower wada if he tried to attack her.

taking suspicion off the students:

yanagi shigeki — the NUMBER ONE person who cared for hayashi, literally confessing his love for her MULTIPLE TIMES just hours before she died. he's also one of the two who were trapped in medbay all night, rendering it practically impossible for him to touch hayashi.

hasegawa ken — again, trapped in medbay all night. if i ABSOLUTELY HAD to, gun to my head, pick a student who killed hayashi, i would pick ken simply because i also think he was the one leaving those notes to hayashi and setting the door traps. don't necessarily have any evidence for this one, just a hunch.

tamba ruiko — someone who was also quite close with hayashi, often seen with her ever since chapter 1. it would be incredibly difficult for her to attack hayashi, let alone kill her due to her broken leg and need crutches.

ojima takeshi — this guy has been drunk the last 2-3 days. while there have been instances where he harms himself or others while spaced out (picking at his stitches, grabbing ken's arm), i seriously don't think he would full on kill someone while drunk or spaced out. it seems like too far-fetched of an idea that von wouldn't ever include in her writing

hiroaki nakamigawa — THIS GUY has been high and sick. he's been feeling absolutely god awful the past few days, and has also made it incredibly obvious that he can't stand being near anything gorey or gross.

however, at the end of the day i could be completely wrong about everything and look like a fool after next week's trial LMAO. either my thought will change during the trial or i'll be deadset on this theory 🤷‍♀️

Batfam Headcanon Time!!!!

I'm bored, so I'm gonna list some of my headcanon about different Batfam members.

Most of my shit is made from an evil concoction of DC canon in various shows, movies, and comics, along with some fanon for flavour.

Dick Grayson

Was trained to be a Talon but unknowingly. Still does shit that only a Talon should be able to do, but people chalk it up to the acrobatics.

Speaks several languages semi-fluently from life in the circus, is a bit out of practice though since that was a long time ago.

Given that the Joker exists, circuses are not common in Gotham (like I'm sorry, are you gonna go see a clown when there's a chance it's the Joker?) so everyone assumes that Dick misses the circus to some degree cause it's home. As such, they take him to a circus for his birthday one year and it's instead a massive trigger. This makes him really sad as his connection to his parents has been tainted.

Eventually overcomes the fear surrounding the circus, but, despite doing what he does every night, will not go anywhere near a trapeze.

Still says old Golden Age catchphrases out of habit like "Holy blank Batman!" The others poke fun at him for it.

Superman's favourite nephew. If you've seen some of those old comics where Dick, Bruce and Clark are just doing random activities, you'll know what I mean. Superman is like a jungle gym for him to climb.

Jason Todd

All his hair turned white/grey after the pit but he thought it made him look old so died it back to black. Started keeping parts white for the vibes. (This also explains why designs are inconsistent with the white streak, he is inconsistent when dyeing it)

Ages and timelines are inconsistent with DC, so while Jason was only dead for 6 months - 3 years depending on the source, he still missed 1988 - 2005. So he has no idea that the USSR is gone, that the Berlin wall fell. He also doesn't know who Bush is, or what the hell the "world wide web" is. Dick is very excited to introduce him to the concept of the Pokémon TV show.

The Bats realise he's missing a substantial part of history when they're going to Germany for something, and he asks if they're going to the East or the West.

Moves to a different safehouse every time a member of the family shows up at his current one. It's not that he's trying to be tough and mysterious, they just keep eating all his food.

Sneaks all the money he makes off of being a crime lord into the manor then asks Bruce to transfer him some money for stuff. Bruce thinks he's building bridges with his son, Jason is just laundering money through him.

Has mostly adjusted to the sound of laughter so it's no longer a trigger every time. Maybe occasionally if there's some particularly loud laughing or Joker Venom Victims, it'll fuck him up a bit. (Tim's laugh always sets him off though, there's just something about that giggle and the way the corners of his mouth twitch up almost uncontrollably)

Tim Drake

Not a big fan of the idea of him addicted to coffee, but I do think he would like caffeine in general. He strikes me as a fan of Monsters.

Also not a huge fan of the whole sleep deprived vibe. I do think he's got something wrong with his sleep schedule (I mean, he's really busy) but I think it's more an inconsistency than anything else.

Looks almost exactly like Cassandra. One day she cuts her hair the same length as his and it's genuinely confusing to people. They both get sick of being confused to decide to get an eyebrow piercing to help distinguish them. Issue is they both have the same idea and go get the exact same thing done, so now it's even worse.

Stephanie is concerned that, with Cass looking like Tim, she has a 'type'.

Tim will regularly get lifts home from Kon rather than ride home.

Bruce: Good job today Red, want a lift back to the cave or?

Tim: Na, got my own ride.... KONNNNN!!!!!!!

Kon, appearing for a split second to pick Tim up then fly him to the Manor: Hi B! Bye B!

Tim doesn't laugh much after the whole ordeal with Joker Jr. Every time he does, Bruce and Babs get a Look (TM) on their faces and Jason gets mildly triggered (he also has a chance of triggering himself). As such, he restrains himself to small giggles in the manor. With the Young Justice though, he is free to fully belly laugh without risk. His full laugh doesn't sound like He did, so it's safer.

From growing up a Drake, he has his own "Brucie Wayne" persona. Not quite as severe as Bruce, but still got a charming, if dumb, persona he can adopt at the drop of a hat. Uses it infront of everyone once and, while the majority are shocked, Bruce couldn't be more proud.

Will work on cases in the barn with the Batcow because he finds comfort in it and being close to someone/something without being vulnerable. Will claim it's because Batcow gives better advice than the others.

Legally, Talia has visitation rights and used this initially to flirt with Bruce. Damian has given up trying to get his Mother's appreciation and, at some point, switched from calling her Mother to calling her Talia. Eventually, begins calling her "Al-Ghul".

Ms. Jenson is the woman behind the company itself, the brains behind everything JCJenson branded. Having gone through many husbands, all meeting an unfortunate fate some way or another, she much prefers the company of her creations. That is the ones that haven't rebelled against the company.

Ms. Jenson is literally the definition of corrupt corporate gaslighting girlboss, she is ICONIC. Sure you can flirt with her, but expect being flung into the nearest vat of nanite acid by her personal disassembly drone. :3

FUN FACTS:

Lost her hand in her 20s after spilling nanite acid on it. How she found out it was so corrosive!

Her eyes are cameras, she sees EVERYTHING. She has literally connected herself up to the company's security system so she can see anything from any camera whenever.

Despite being married so many times, she doesn't have kids! Her drones are her children, married to the grind fr.

K4Y-C is as loyal as loyal can be. A guard dog if you taught it to drive a motorcycle. Being Ms. Jenson's personal body guard and advisor, she is the one hiding all the evidence of Ms. Jenson's crimes. All she asks in return? Be allowed to run rampant on her motorcycle and annoy everyone trying to work.

She is Ms. Jenson's FAVORITE!!!!! K4Y-C could do no wrong in her eyes, she's the perfect prototype. Unfortunately she was just a little too dangerous to release into public so they had to tone down everything for the future official models... Doesn't stop K4Y-C from getting to know everyone Ms. Jenson has to work with!!

Was the only drone out of her original fleet to have a designation that sounded like a name (K4Y-C = Casey)!

Participates in races with her motorbike and wins every time (her bike is NOT street legal I promise you that).

K17 is a curious little thing. Being a test on how a drone reacts to having more animal like features and behaviours, she didn't exactly ace her test. Now stuck on Copper-9 with no communication with her parent company, she's made herself quite at home with the other weirdos like her.

She was a worker kitty she's not used to having such big clunky feet or a sharp tail :( She's also the drone who I ship with J!! they're not dating per day.... Ms. Jenson's little unintentional protege. Viva has decided her life's purpose is trying to figure out how the Solver works and its origins, all while not knowing she has it herself. She's an angsty teen who dedicates her intelligence to research... As well as fanfics no one knows she writes.

Viva is my baby girl, shes so angsty she pulled an Uzi and banished herself from the colony she lived in, except she actually went through with it. Before you ask, yes. She has written fanfics about her friends.

FUN FACTS:

Has a pet roach!! His name's Hyperdeximal (Hyperdex for short) and is basically Vivas comfort animal.

Really likes snakes!! She thinks they're adorable :3

C is certainly an interesting character, having been modified by Viva to help her in her research about the solver. He has no association with the company anymore, but that doesn't stop him from trying to fulfill quota every month.

Has a pet sentinel called Sally-May! She has bit Viva a lot though...

Nikki is feral. As feral as feral can get. He is as much of a racoon as his hat once was. He wasn't always like this, he was once just your regular worker drone, but his solver must of had rabies coded into it because he certainly does act like he has rabies.

I love him he is such a dork. I have nothing to say besides he is guard dog if it was an unvaxxed street dog.

His name's actually Nick Ashenwood, but he kinda forgot his name for a bit so he just called himself Nikki!

Twins with K17, they're the bestest of friends!

i went with "role in the story" for this one. i've thought abt this AU a bit before, but i think a lot of things would change if gwyar was sacrificed instead of claret…

The Cooler Claret spawned from a face monster and so i thought it would b cute to have gwyar mutate from a crimera! (<- objectively uncute thing to say). the monsters r somewhat significant bc they represent unfulfilled desires from when they were still ppl, like claret becoming strong enough to protect her home/family and gwyar's desire to be free (hence y she can fly now).

even though claret emerges as an adult in canon, i chose to keep gwyar as a child in the swapped version bc it felt more fitting. clarets new role in the story is similar to gwyars in that she aims to purge the crimson, but where gwyar becomes quite apathetic, claret takes on a much crueler personality... 😔

WHAT WAS THE REASON. WHY.

I think I know why.

So, yes—when we're trying to get James to help us, Clementine has to walk through the barn with his mask on. AJ's understandably anxious about this, and here's how these optional conversations can go:

Clementine: You know Violet would do it for us. AJ: Yeah... She would.

Clementine: Louis would do it for us. AJ: Yeah. I guess.

So... why? Why this small difference in the way AJ reacts? Or, even in the way Clementine phrases it?

I think it's easier for us who like Louis/clouis to look at this negatively, like "Well, what the hell? That seems unfair."

But, we gotta remember which route this appears in. AJ doesn't say this in Louis' route, he says it in Violet's route where Louis is captured.

In that route, we obviously spend less time with Louis. More importantly, he doesn't get to grow as much as a character. That's the nature of this game; you know less about the one you don't choose.

The player probably didn't go hunting with him, didn't appeal to him, didn't follow him, and definitely didn't save him... meaning the perception of him might not be the greatest depending on the player. Especially if that player is still pissed about his vote... and I think AJ might be echoing some of that doubt.

Violet in Louis' route, at the very least, earns some favor by voting to keep Clementine and AJ. Hence why Clementine is pretty confident that Violet would do this for them and why AJ agrees... even though through meta-knowledge we know that Violet despises Clementine for letting her get captured. So, we could argue that she wouldn't do it for them in that moment. It's all part of the irony that ep3 likes to play into... y'know, "Imagine how Violet will feel when she finds out you came to rescue her. You'll have given her hope again."

Oh, will she have hope again, Lee? Is that what she's going to feel when she sees Clementine again? Are you sure?

But, in Violet's route, Louis is shown to be apologetic but not to have stepped up. He doesn't get the chance to. Hence why Clementine states he'd do it for them without the "you know" and why AJ seems more doubtful.

And the thing is, anyone who knows anything about Louis knows that he would do it no matter the route... but he'd also complain about it, y'know?

Fine, he'll climb up and distract the walkers, but he's gonna make a half-hearted threat about eating first Clem and Violet if he dies. Fine, he'll rub walker guts all over himself, but he's gonna be grumpy about it. Fine, he'll carry the bomb when they infiltrate the boat, but he's gonna be anxious about it the entire time.

Like... sometimes, that's just how Louis is?

If it were him James handed that mask to and asked to walk among walkers, Louis would be like, "Fine, but only because Clem, AJ, and my friends are my reason for existing and without them, I'll die anyway... and because I'll look good in these walker skins."

On the other hand, Violet's more of a "just shut up and do it," kind of gal. You hand her the mask and she'll be like, "Ugh, fine. Let's get this over with."

So yeah, there's a purpose for the slight against Louis there. You don't know him unless you choose him, and if you don't, the game adjusts accordingly.

I also see this sentiment of "Why would AJ say that??" at the end of Louis' route where AJ has the option to question why Clementine's trusting him with an important task.

But, like... you don't have to pick that option. Y'know? I understand being annoyed that it's even there; I was annoyed, too... but, if you like Louis and you understand his arc, you're not going to have AJ say that. Because you know better. You didn't just hear the jokes and the piano. You're making sure AJ didn't stop listening, either.

In my opinion, that choice is there to test you.

Honestly y'all I can't imagine Aloy dating/liking anyone other than a girl, like, her interactions are on average way richer and way more engaged with lady NPCs (not to say that there aren't rich and engaging interactions with guy characters, there are, but Aloy herself seems way less interested/invested in those than the ones she has with girls)
