The Looping World of NieR
If you have any interest in NieR lore and have played either NieR (2010) or NieR Replicant Ver.1.22474487139... (2021), you've probably asked...
Question 1: "so... is Gestalt or Replicant canon to automata?"
Hi! Quick Side-note: I will refer to NieR Replicant Ver.1.22474487139... as Replicant (2021) occasionally because those numbers really take up a lot of space lol
For a while, and even somewhat now, the only answers you'd get are something along the lines of "they're both canon, just different branches" or "they're both canon and completely interchangeable." Both of which are half true, both are indeed canon, but they're also quite off the mark about how they're both canon.
"Replicant" and "Gestalt" are not parallel worlds, but one of the patterns of the repeated world, and the relationship between the main character and Yonah was sometimes a brother and sister, sometimes a parent and child, so there is a difference in the years in the settings of both works.
This is a machine translated snippet from a 2010 Famitsu interview with Yoko Taro(courtesy of the Accord's Library discord server). So the world of NieR is repeating and sometimes the main character is a dilf and sometimes hes a twink? That makes sense. Its a relatively straightforward statement, but like most things Yoko says, it just leaves more questions.
Question 2: "Is Replicant Ver.1.22474487139... the same as Replicant or is it a different loop?"
Good question! It's actually a separate iteration taking place after NieR: Automata. This explanation will be a little longer, so stick with me. After the events of NieR Replicant (2010) we have the short story The Lost World Ver.1.00 which is also known as ending e. This short story takes place after ending d and shows Kaine confronting k?K? Σ ?XH, an administrator who manages the quantum computer that oversees the gestalt project. In Replicant Ver.1.22474487139... this story is included in the game itself, however this time around we have a second administrator named Her. Both versions of the story show Kaine destroying the administrator(s) and bringing back a 16 year old protagonist.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Lost World Appendix Ver.1.22474487139... is a short story included in Grimoire NieR Revised Edition that takes place after Ending E of Replicant (2021). It explains that the male administrator created his female counterpart after witnessing the same loop time and time again by himself. This, as well as the fact that Automata takes place after The Lost World Ver.1.00, means that the timeline should look something like this:
Tumblr media
NieR Re[in]carnation also plays an important part in the discussion of world loops, but I'll leave most of that for another time.
Question 3: Where do the loops begin and end?
This one is... difficult to answer. So I'll hold off on attempting to explain that until a future post (maybe(no promises)). Until then, just know that there's a lot of unknown here and all we really have are theories.
Hi! This is a bit of an afterword but this is my first blog post so I figured I should introduce myself! My name is Emily, and I'm a college student in her early 20s about to start studying Japanese with hopes of going into some form of localization or reporting. I'm a huge fan of JRPGs, visual novels, anime, and most relevant here: the Yokoverse (NieR, Drakengard, SINoALICE etc.) I'll probably be posting here really sporadically about lore and any new release information, so if you're interested in that kind of thing I hope you stick around lol

20 Questions with a Fanfic Author
Thank you for the tag @kcscribbler @andthekitchensinkao3 @lokimobius and @insomniaflarrow
1. How many works on AO3?
79 officially, although I recently revised and reposted a three-chapter fic as three separate fics, and kept the original too... so we'll just say "more than 75", lol.
2. Total AO3 word count?
326,616 in exactly one year of writing... to the week, actually. And yes, that is subtracting the word count of the original fic I mentioned above, for the sake of accuracy. 🤣
3. Top 5 fics by kudos?
Nope, I don’t want to post those cause they’re predominantly old and crap! Here’s my top 5 by kudos ratio instead (not counting the one I posted yesterday, as that hasn’t had time to “settle down” yet). I was hoping this would give more interesting results, and it has:
Lullaby of You (23.2%, 109 kudos/470 hits, 1179 words)
A fill for Lokius kinkmeme for the following prompt:
Lokius, fluff, sleeping - Loki falls asleep like a cat in a sunbeam around Mobius from like, Day One. But when is the first time Mobius falls asleep in front of Loki?
Movie Night (21.6%, 74 kudos/342 hits, 2005 words)
Because watching together beats watching alone… (aka Mobius and Loki watch Titanic together, but being me, I still had to make the bingo prompt “domestic Lokius” mildly angsty) WARNING: This is a very old fic of mine and probably terrible. I can’t bring myself to look, tbh.
The Butterfly Affect (20.6%, 69 kudos/334 hits, 2123 words)
They’re both hard at work, but Loki finally finds a way he can visit Mobius on a timeline that isn’t too taxing to maintain… for a short time, anyway.
Make Like a Tree (And Leave…?) (20.3%, 62 kudos/305 hits, 1590 words)
Mobius pays yet another visit to Loki in his Tree, taking it up a notch as he advances in his relentless climb towards the crown of comedy. Wilting under the onslaught, Loki soon shoots to attention when Mobius plants a seed of hope… Loki may very soon be getting the axe. (aka “crack treated seriously” where Mobius traumatises Loki with tree puns until he wonders whether he even wants to come home…)
Home (19.0%, 48 kudos/252 hits, 901 words)
(Red Dwarf) Rimmer's return from his quantum-skipping adventure is a catalyst for our boys to have a brief but open exchange about their feelings... well, as open as an excessively repressed hologram can be (which isn't much).
4. What fandoms do you write for?
Loki, and I have written a tiny ficlet for Red Dwarf (see above). I've also used Red Dwarf and Star Wars for Loki crossovers.
5. Do you respond to comments?
Always. Generally I don't like to leave it longer than a week, but if I'm doing an event month where I'm posting multiple fics only a couple of days apart, I sometimes fall behind.
6. Angstiest ending?
Probably a tie between Break (which I ruined by eventually writing a fix-it sequel) and Gone (which is the first part of Revival, so those in the know will realise how un-angsty that universe becomes🤭)
7. Fic with the happiest ending?
Revived Part III, the conclusion to the Revival series. Likely the most sugar-sweet, sappiest shit I will ever write. Seriously.
8. Do you get hate?
I have never gotten anything approaching hate or negativity. Everyone has been perfectly lovely.
9. Do you write smut?
No. I'm on the asexual spectrum, I suspect, and even though I find the idea of Lokius together insanely hot, it's not something I care to write about, and will only very occasionally read.
I have and will write fairly tame suggestive stuff, because it definitely has its place and can be awfully feral-inducing, but I highly doubt I will ever write anything explicit.
10. Do you write crossovers?
As mentioned above:
Reach (Loki/Star Wars, 6 chapters, 15,699 words)
Five times Loki was there for Obi-Wan, and one time Obi-Wan was there for him. Loki-Wan friendship with Lokius overtones.
And:
Reset (Loki/Red Dwarf, 8250 words)
Continuing immediately after the final scene from Series 8 of Red Dwarf, Loki and Mobius step in to set things right. (aka my whimsical explanation of how we got hologram Rimmer back again, and what happened to nano-Rimmer from S8)
These were great fun to write, but I am definitely not in a hurry to write another crossover. 🤣
11. Ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge, but I'm not even sure how I would know? 🤔
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, but anyone can feel free (so long as I'm informed and credited); it would be an absolute honour.
13. Have you ever cowritten a fic?
No, but I'm definitely open to it with the right person and the right idea.
14. All time favourite ship?
My fave ship is whatever I'm hyperfixated on at any one time. For the past 18 months, it's been Lokius, and I definitely cannot see that changing anytime soon... or possibly ever. They're the only ship I've ever written for (apart from one and a half Rimster fics, lol), and there's just something so insanely special about them. 😭
What makes me ultra-feral is that, unlike many other pairings, they are actually canon. Or I have very good reason to think so, let's just say. 👀 But unfortunately we only got subtext in the show, because that's all the showrunners were allowed to get away with.
15. WIPs you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I'm very boring in this regard... I have an idea, I write it (usually sooner rather than later), I post it. I sometimes have multiple WIPs going, but I always intend on finishing them all, and so far I have.
I'm actually kind of envious of people who have a tonne of stuff lurking in buried documents. Way more interesting and mysterious than my rather dull, methodical approach!
16. Writing strengths?
In short, descriptions. Scene-setting, characters' actions, and emotional and physical responses to things, in particular. I also like making up random features of alien worlds and cultures as a backdrop to stories, but I don't know if it's something I'd be able to do in any great depth.
17. Writing weaknesses?
Plotting, dialogue (the quality isn't awful, but quantity is always lacking because it just doesn't come naturally to me), and I'm not very good at character introspection either, probably because my own brain doesn't think like that IRL.
The biggest though? Waffling and being too wordy. But that’s just my style, and maybe one day I’ll learn how to tone it down. But I’m not a professional, so whatever.
18. Thoughts on mixed language dialogue?
Anyone who has read my Revival series knows that Lokius speak a little Norwegian to each other, but it's mainly limited to terms of endearment. I also made up a lot of words for the alien language spoken in the place they're staying. I think it can add a bit of colour and realism, but too much/frequently, or anything you need to stop reading to go look up or read footnotes for? As we say in Australia, "yeah, nah."
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Red Dwarf! Not sure if I'll ever go back there for writing again, but I've been a fan for 25 years so there's a lot of nostalgia there.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
I don’t have one! I’m awfully proud of how Derivation from last week turned out. I had a wonderful time writing Light Up My Life, and for some bizarre reason Mischievous Scamp is something I actually come back to occasionally to read for comfort, like I would with fave fics that are not written by me, lol.
But an all-time fave? No, I can’t answer that.
I think pretty much everyone I interact with has been tagged already, but if not, consider this an open tag, and make sure to add me so I can see your answers!

I Tripped and Took a Dive Into Another Life - Part Five
I hit a major goal, found out some new information, and made some adjustments.
Previous Posts 1 through 4 in this Series
Discussion of weight loss within.
Onederland
This week, I did this:
Tumblr media
For the first time since probably high school, possibly college, I found myself under 200 pounds.
In the weight loss community, they call this Onederland. I've been looking forward to this since... well since I started I suppose. It's a major milestone. And I'm so fucking happy about it.
I mentioned in a previous post when I hit 299 I cried on the scale. I think since at this point I was really confident I'd hit this goal and it wasn't a "holy shit I really can do this" moment like 299 was. I didn't get as weepy-emotional, but I yelled something like "FUUUUUCK YESSSS"!! before taking pictures. I am still extremely proud of myself.
Of course, it's not over yet. Still going.
But I did definitely take a moment to celebrate, and brag on myself a bit to the people who care for me about this. :)
Scan-dalous
On the same day, Saturday, I had my first DEXA scan.
I really wish I would have stated getting these earlier! If there is one thing I would have changed about my journey, this woulda been it, just do DEXA scans starting near the beginning because I am SUCH a data nerd about how I've been going about losing weight and I LOVED getting all this data SO MUCH.
A DEXA scan is basically a deep scan of your body that gives you actually accurate information about what's going on inside of you for several metrics. It's fast, and safe, and turns out, very cool.
They're not that expensive, turns out about $40 to get one done once a quarter. The place I used, https://www.bodyspec.com/ , operates a lot of their scans out of vans! Keeps costs down, and they have regular places they park all over the city. So I did one near me this last week. I was a little worried it was going to be sketchy, ya know, going to a van in a parking lot, lol, but they have permission to park where they go, and the van itself is really nice. It didn't feel sketchy at all.
The scan is just laying still on a cushioned table for about 5 minutes, didn't feel claustrophobic at all.
And about an hour after it was done, I got my results.
Tumblr media
OK look it says I weighed 202 pounds but I'd eaten and was wearing clothes at that point haha.
But it's so cool because it tells you how much fat you have, vs. "lean mass" like muscle and organs, and your bone mass.
There's a lot of deeper-dive charts that they sent me, and the complete X-ray looking scans that shows the locations of your lean mas vs. fat, tons of info. This is just the overview dashboard with the important stats.
So it turns out I'm basically she-hulk for a woman of my age. I have extremely high lean mass, which means a looooot of muscle compared to most near-50 year old women. I'm in the freaking 94th percentile! That's CRAZY. My bone density is pretty freaking great at, better than 78% of women of my age, too.
Only 68 pounds of me is fat now, or 34% of my weight.
And the scan's report says for a woman of about my age I want to get that down to 20 to 25%, which I would prefer to get that to 20%.
I'd had a goal weight of 145 but that might be unrealistic, because I'm just too damn muscular with pretty dense bones. So I've revised my goal weight up to 160 for now. When I get there, I'll do another scan (and likely at least one in between then and now) and go take it to my doctor to see what he thinks.
So right now I supposedly only need to lose about 40 more pounds, instead of 55.
That's crazy to me. That's so little. And yet, to be in the healthy range considering how strong and dense I am, that's it, according to the scan. Like honestly I was starting to get a little discouraged with how little my calves had shrunk but it turns out that's because my calves are mostly muscle already. Most of my weight is still in my stomach, with a decent amount in my thighs and butt. But it's all shrunk, once I get those 40 more pounds off then... I don't even know. I can barely picture it.
So yeah, I gotta highly recommend DEXA scans y'all. An amazing tool. I absolutely love having this reliable deep knowledge about what's going on inside my body.
Oh also knowing my RMR is 1860? That means I can do fuckall but lay in bed all day and burn 1860 calories, that's really great knowledge.
Of course, I definitely don't do that.
Working Out
I joined the gym near my house a couple of weeks ago!
I did "virtual" tours of all the gyms within like a 2 or 3 mile radius of me a couple of weeks ago, trawling their websites and google reviews/photos people put up. And after comparing a few, this one in particular had a few things going for it:
it was probably the closest with the least annoying drive
It was pretty big and the facilities looked nice
It has a dedicated women's workout area!
The Woman's area is basically big enough to have one of every machine, one full rack of dumbbells and a smaller one to the side, a deadlift area, a mat area for stretching/body weight, and a small cardio theater with stairs/treadmills and bikes, and it's dark in there with movies playing. You can also get to the woman's area from the woman's locker room, so basically I can walk to the locker room, put on my headphones/gloves, do whatever else I need to, store my gear, and walk right to the woman's area. There's also a sauna in the locker room. No showers, which is a bit of a bummer but the only thing I didn't like. I mean, I can shower at home anyway.
The price is pretty good (it'll end up being like $350 a year). And the rest of the gym is big and nice and if I felt like I needed to work out there, I think I'd feel comfortable with it.
I've been a few times, less than I would like but there's been some circumstances happening, and every time I've enjoyed it. The other women there are nice but everyone keeps to themselves mostly, the equipment is mostly maintained (there's one machine broken in the WWA) and there's always someone around cleaning.
Before the DEXA scan I was worried that I'd lost muscle mass despite my 125 - 150g of protein I eat every day, turns out I didn't need to worry!
But still, I want to keep that muscle. I plan on trying to go twice a week for weightlifting. I've mostly made that happen, but haven't pushed as much as I'd like yet. Still kind of rolling into it.
Along with that I'm still VERY MUCH doing daily cardio, except for a day or two where I had good reasons to miss. Including today. Well, I did about 15 minutes today on a lighter workout but I think I slept wrong because I've had a pain in my shoulderblade all day and it felt worse after doing a quick cardio workout in Supernatural, so I am giving myself a mostly-rest day today.
Aside from that... I've done a tiny bit of yoga?? I've owned a yoga mat for a loooong time that was still in the wrapping. I was feeling really tight and crampy a few days ago so at lunch I was like "Let's... try this." I found a 10-minute beginner yoga youtube video, laid that yoga mat out in front of my computer and tried the yoga with the nice lady in the video.
It wasn't bad! I've done it again since! I enjoyed the stretch, but I think I'm definitely going to get more practice with Youtube videos before I'd dare leave the house to try yoga.
My gym doesn't offer yoga classes anyway, but maybe someday I'd seek one out. They do have cycle classes, and since my back is still a limiting factor I am thinking about trying one of those out one day since it's, ya know, mostly sitting.
Friends!
I now have two friends on the Medication Journey with me! I'm so happy and excited for both of them, and it's been SO NICE having other people to talk with about it! Talking about it in these posts have been cathartic but having someone else going through it to chat with is GREAT, and I get to give Tips and all, and listen to them take their first steps! It's been so encouraging for me as a friend and to be able to share my experiences as i listen to them talk about theirs!!
If you're on the journey and want someone to talk to, talk to meeeee!
Medication Notes
I've bumped my dose of the medication up a bit. Hopefully won't need to any more before I get those 40 pounds down and then will move back down in dose so I can successfully eat at a maintenance calorie amount every day (I definitely could NOT eat that maintenance amount now, jfc I couldn't imagine unless I started eating a lot less healthily!) Apparently my maintenance calories is supposed to be like 1800. I'm still doing around 1400 - 1500 and most days that feels like sooooo much.
But like, this is how i eat now:
Tumblr media
That's a pretty typical day.
I've mentioned I'm on compounded tirzepatide and things are CRAZY in that world right now, most companies who make it are going to have to stop like, Wednesday. And some are saying they're stopping, some think they can get away with not stopping. There's a lot of drama. I've got a good stockpile to last me a real long time so mostly I'm sitting back and watching the drama unfold feeling pretty secure.
Annnnd that's about all the news from the Annakie's Weight Loss world.
This btw is the video to the song that I use for the title for these posts. I listen to this song almost every morning to remind myself that yes, I deserve to be well, and though the struggle the song is about is more depression, it fits really well for a health journey in general, too.
youtube
Oh wait, one last thing.
I couldn't really wear this shirt until now. I'm like 12 years past where I bought it, but I'm wearing the HELL out of it now! It's not the best picture of me, I meant it for just a couple of friends, but hey, who cares. :D

Fic Writers - 20 Questions!
Oh man! Thank you so much to @serensama @pixiedurango and @woundedsoul12 for the tags! This was a lot of fun!
I haven't been around tumblr much these past couple of days (I'm at a writing retreat trying to finish Say My Name), so I'm gonna leave of tagging since I don't know who all's already done this :)
1). How many works do you have on AO3?
16 at the moment :).
2). What's your total AO3 word count?
595,260... I write mostly longfics lolol.
3). What are your top five fics by kudos?
Medicine - 871 kudos (Horizon Forbidden West - kotaloy)
Say My Name (Say It Twice) - 663 kudos (Dragon Age: The Veilguard - rookanis)
Sanctified - 486 kudos (Mass Effect: Andromeda - f!reyder)
The Fall of Santa Sarita - 287 kudos (Mass Effect Andromeda - f!reyder)
The Cost of Salvation - 265 kudos (Mass Effect: Andromeda - f!reyder)
4). What fandoms do you write for?
Mostly Bioware games. Mass Effect, Dragon Age, but also Horizon Forbidden West. Way back when (before ao3) I wrote for Moonlight (2008 tv show) and Pitch Black.
5). Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try REALLY hard to reply to every comment. They literally mean SO MUCH to me! To know someone read my words and enjoyed them, that I kept them up too late, or made them laugh or cry?! Pure heroin, lolol.
6). What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Bold of you to assume my fics have endings... I'm kidding. Kinda. uhhhhhhhhhhhh. All of them? I think my MEA series Santa Sarita had some very high angst moments - perhaps the ending of The Cost of Salvation was the angstiest? idk.
7). What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
ummmmmm. Hopefully, Say My Name (Say it Twice) lol. But, I think The Charlatan and the Coinshot holds the title right now.
8). Do you get hate on fics?
Not yet. I did get flamed on ff.net way way back when for writing a "mary sue self-insert" which... I was fourteen and had no idea what any of that meant, lolol. I stopped writing fic for like... five years because of that.
9). Do you write smut?
I do, but it usually takes a LONG time to get there in the fic. We have to have FEELINGS first.
10). Do you write crossovers?
No? But, yes? My good friend @artsyblacksheep (who I believe isn't really active here anymore) encouraged me to write a MEA/Mistborn crossover, and she promised to do chapter art for it. I still love that fic so so much, and had a ton of fun writing it, so if you're interested it's The Charlatan and the Coinshot.
11). Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of? It seems like a buckwild thing to have happen.
12). Have you ever had a fic translated?
Partially! That's how I met my friend Nina, (who is no longer on tumblr) - she offered to translate The Fall of Santa Sarita into Brasilian Portuguese.
13). Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Nope.
14). What’s your all-time favorite ship?
All time? Lord. Idk. Solavellan (before things got so toxic). But also I will forever worship at the feet of Riza Hawkeye and Roy Mustang. And, obviously I have put a TON of love and work into Sara Ryder and Reyes Vidal. idk man. I can't decide.
15). What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I really want to finish the final installment of Santa Sarita. I've come back to it multiple times and I have so many ideas for where it could go, and yet... I just can't ever seem to find the juice for it :(
16). What are your writing strengths?
Emotion. Both in fic and my original work, I get a lot of feedback about how much emotion my words convey and how authentic those emotions feel. Do you wanna cry? Read a himluv fic haha.
17). What are your writing weaknesses?
Description in general, but particularly setting. I have aphantasia, so I really struggle to picture things - especially if I haven't seen them before. So, describing settings or even characters is something that requires a lot of intentional revision for me.
18). Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?
I used to do it more often, but increasingly I feel like it isn't actually necessary? There's almost always a way to write around it - or to at least convey whatever the character would say. I would do it for French because I can at least speak the language (albeit poorly) but even then I use it sparingly and in very simple constructions that I know are accurate.
I just don't think it's worth using another language poorly (or offensively) when I can write the scene in a different way.
19). First fandom you wrote for?
Pirates of the Caribbean
20). Favorite fic you’ve ever written?
Oh. Man. Ummmm Inevitable, my Solavellan fic. It was a slow drafting process that took years. I spent so much time with it, and by the end it felt like a goodbye letter to the ship in some ways. There's just a lot of heart and emotion in that fic that I will always love.

20 Questions for 20 Writers
tagged by @baronessblixen and @randomfoggytiger
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 24
2. What’s your total AO3 word count? 364,789
3. What fandoms do you write for? Only X-Files, although sometimes I have thoughts.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? Chicken Dinner, Pause, The Kaleidoscope, The Boy on the Beach, The Marriage Spectacular
5. Do you respond to comments? Not every time. I do in bursts. I feel guilty if I respond to some and not others, so sometimes I just respond to none, especially if it's a long story and I'm posting chapters everyday. I wish it were otherwise, because I sincerely do like engaging with comments.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I've answered this question before, and I think I decided it was either (1) Opposition and Synthesis, which is a post-Requiem fic that no one has read, written between season 7 and 8, on Gossamer or (2) Ice Water, which was a fic I wrote for an exchange, also beginning of season 8, which is on AO3. Both of them have the same source of angst, which is the season 8 overall angst: missing Mulder.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Most of my fics have happy endings. I do try not to sew things up too tightly--I prefer to keep it a little open-ended, with the possibility that things could still be complicated, because I guess that feels more real to me. And more in universe, I suppose.
8. Do you get hate on fics? Not very often. Sometimes. There was someone recently on a fic who went on a rant about me hating Mulder, but it mostly made me laugh. (Y'all. Let me assure you. This girl does not hate Mulder. She is a ridiculous Mulder champion.) I haven't been that upset by hate on my fics. I've been more upset by seeing hate on other people's.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I have. It's always a struggle for me, possibly because I'm not a super visually oriented person. I have betas who help me with this a lot, and I'm grateful to them. I do tend to want smut to feel organic to the story; I don't like when it feels tacked on. (Although listen, I don't judge anyone who wants that either; fanfic is for fun lol.)
10. Do you write crossovers? No.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? I don't think so.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Someone asked me if they could translate one of my fics to Russian once. I assume that happened.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Not yet, but mulling that over with some co-authors now.
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship? Mulder and Scully. Sometimes I admit I will also read some Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I have many WIPs. Maybe 8-10. I don't post WIPs any more because that experience is too stressful for me; I prefer to wait until the whole thing is done and post then.
16. What are your writing strengths? I revise and rewrite a lot. Dialogue. I used to think I was bad at plotting, but I'm getting better.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? I get certain phrases and words in my head and keep reusing them without thinking about it. Then my beta makes fun of me for saying "scowl" 150 times in one chapter. Also, I struggle with visualizing a space and how characters are moving in it. My betas are always like: "What side of the table is he sitting on?" "Where is her leg?" "Is she on the side of the couch with the fish tank or no?" I don't think of these things very well naturally.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? All of my fic is in English, my first and best (by far) language. I would never write in another language unless I had a native speaker willing to help me with this. I included a few lines of Spanish in one fic, but I double and triple checked that. (And it was almost nothing! )
19. First fandom you wrote for? X-Files, unless you count things I wrote as a kid about books.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written? This is hard, but I do love Boy on the Beach, which I researched quite a bit and very carefully plotted out. I also like We're Not Here To Talk About Personal Problems, which was the first fic I wrote for an exchange, an X-Cops post-ep, and really felt like me getting back into new fic.
Randomfoggytiger's additional questions:
1. Is writing a hobby or way of life?
A hobby, but also kind of a way of life, as it's tangential to how I make money, and it's always something I've done regularly.
2. A journal full of writing notes or a clean, completed manuscript?
Is this what I prefer? Clean, completed manuscript then. I don't like paper journals at all, so while I do have notes, they're only in Google Docs.
3. Who (or what) is your writing inspiration?
I don't have a specific event, person, or work of art. I will say I think I am influenced by having had some training writing for the stage. I often write dialogue first and then fill in everything else around it. And I think about plays I've read or seen a lot when I write.
4.Which is worse: someone you "idolize" reading your first draft or listening to you sing?
First draft. I revise a lot. And I'm an amazing singer, or at least I am so far as you know.
5. Has writing from someone else's POV ever changed your own perspective?
I feel like I should say yes, but no, not that I can remember specifically.
6. Tumblr, AO3, LiveJournal, or FFN?
AO3
7. AO3 wordcount, and are you satisfied with it?
364,789 - Am I satisfied? I don't know. Do I win something at a particular number? Assuming no, the number doesn't really matter to me. I would be sad if I never posted anything again though, because I enjoy it.
8. What movie/book/fic gripped you irrevocably? I really loved From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler when I was a kid.
9. What's the highest compliment you could ever be given, and have you been given it? I've received such generous feedback on my fic of every kind, and honestly I could never hope to say which kind was the best. I'm grateful for that. I will say that someone told me on Pause that my D.C. geography was spot on, and I was really thrilled about that, since I spent quite a bit of time "driving" from Georgetown to Alexandria on Google Maps / Street View to see what it would be like.
10. What defines your writing style?
Dialogue. Angst. I don't know. What else? It's hard for me to see!

You know I wonder if anyone has done the math to see what the chances are of a named clone dying or not.
If you think about it let’s go down the list and I am going to do some quick math
TLDR with the bad batch included clones have a probability to survive at 68% without them included they have a probability of just 54%
This is done by using characters who appeared in multiple episodes or appeared once in TCW and then in ROTS Math below.
Warning this includes spoilers up to episode 7 of the bad batch season 3
If you can think of enough clones who appeared in multiple episodes or projects I will include them in another revised version.
Kix (alive)1
Jessie (dead)1
Hardcase (dead) 2
Rex (Alive) 2
Wolffe (alive) 3
Fives (dead) 3
Waxer (dead) 4
Boil (alive) 4
Fox (dead) 5
Nemec (dead) 6
Fireball (Dead) 7
Sinker (alive) 7
Boost (alive) 8
Ridge (dead) 8
Vaughn (dead) 9
Cut Lawquane (alive) 9
Hawk (alive) 10
Bly (alive) 11
Gree (Dead) 10
Cody (alive) 12
Howzer (alive) 13
Tech (Dead/alive he’s schrodinger’s clone)
Crosshair (alive) 14
Echo (alive) 15
Hunter (alive) 16
Wrecker (alive) 17
CX1 (dead) 11
Dogma (alive) 18
Tup (Dead) 12
Oddball (alive) 19
99 (Dead) 13
Havoc (dead) 14
Colt (dead) 15
Blitz (alive) 20
Hammer (alive) 21
Boba (alive) 22
Not counting CX 2 just in case it’s someone on this list
Not including the clone cadets or Omega as there is a 0% chance any of them die so they screw with results (children aren’t going to die in a Star Wars TV-PG show)
Okay I have gone through as many clones as I can think of that appeared in more than one episode of TCW and revenge of the Sith and the bad batch
A clone has a 68% chance of survival as of episode 7 of TBB
However if you remove the bad batch itself a clones survival chances drop to just 54%
Also I just realized I forgot to calculate Scorch being alive (weirdly enough now with the bad batch he has appeared more than almost any clone lol)

Brain woke me up too early blegh so get this...whatever this is. A vent?
I don't like doing commissions. I don't like the dynamic they set up between me and the other person. It's a pretty miserable experience for me and makes me hate what I draw. The other person has an idea in their head that I'll never be able to match cuz I can't picture it properly.
That said, I do like drawing for others. Gifts and doodles are totally fine. Things where the other person isn't expecting much or anything at all from me. I'm the only one setting expectations and rules. Much lower stakes for my brain.
[side note: Studio work falls into another category where I'm working with others and there's a pretty clear style and goal that I need to hit. It's also working off someone else's art to start with. My brain is fine with this]
I set up ko-fi to see if I could find a medium between the two (though there has yet to be any takers so zero data exists on the successfulness of it for my brain). Having it timed means you get what you get and no revisions. If there are mistakes then there are mistakes and that's now part of the art. That's the idea at least. Also, the pricing kind of highlights how little people tend to charge for commissions.
$15/h is what you make working fast food where I live. It is not enough to afford rent by yourself anywhere here. I know this from experience. $20/h isn't even enough for solo living here but it's a little easier to get by. Five hours into a piece, and you're already hitting $100 (this is all USD btw, yes I live in the US and can only talk about the cost of living here. Don't come at me about how that amount is different in another country. That should be understood; every country has it's own cost of living). So what then if a piece takes at least two days? Two work days = 16 hours. That's $320. Some artists can calculate this stuff and price accordingly, but there are a LOT of smaller artists who will never be able to charge that much. Is it right to say that they are only worth paying $2/h? (US companies sure think so. They love to outsource work to pay people that little) But if you're a small artist, you can't charge more. You can't ask for fair pay because you're lucky for the few eyes you get. It's shitty. It sucks! I wish I was super wealthy so I could just like, pay all these people idk man I've lost my train of thought.
Imma go back to sleep now. No idea how to end this lol. Congrats if you got this far? 🎉🎉🎉

Halloo
I have come with a revised age list for everyone uwu
Take it account that my canon timeline is different: Blakk's defeat is expanded by 5 years and another 5 years for everything else. Junjie's liberation from the Goon would take place within year 5 of my timeline so he will be included here.
My "story" or well, whenever I draw, it's the 5 years after Blakk's defeat.
So anyways
Eli — 20
Sarai — 19
Kord — 27
Trixie — 22
Pronto — idk man's in his late 50's right?? Lol
Twist — 21
Junjie — 18-20 (38-40)
Xia Li — 28
I think I'm happy with this uwu

so what are the 12 below?
So, funny story.
Back when Ghost was putting together Undercover, they went through multiple revisions and the mixing process was taking a while. During this time, it became a joke in our server that the word "Under" became banned in reference to the song. And because our cast loves to bully their director, of course, we all constantly referenced it to make it a bit.
One day, (since Ghost started off as our main mixer, they happen to have most of our demos on their phone to listen to) we're at our day job, and their phone decided to put Undercover on repeat and replayed at least 20 times before they got a chance to change it lmao.
Later that day, Ghost and I were walking to the bus heading home after work. We were chatting about name ideas for our group to help make it stand out a bit from other Milgram dub groups, plus it'd make it easier to find our content. And at the time, we started off with only 12 people in our group. I suggested "12Below" as a joke since my first idea was "12Under", censoring 'Under' as 'Below'.
Alternatively, I also threw out another joke name as "Rams 'N Lambs" in reference to the "guilty" ram and "innocent" lamb icons in Milgram. Half the group got really into that idea and turned it into a funny bit when it comes to shitposting and silly content. Nowadays, I like to think of referring to our audience as Rams and Lambs, partly for the sake of having a name for the audience in reference to Milgram.
12Below just kind of stuck as a more serious name for our group lol. Besides, even though we've grown in numbers as a group since then, I can still see it as there are 12 characters total in Milgram this far. If there are any surprise new characters to appear in Trial 3 or after... oh well. XD

uhh at least 43? 39 are unanon'd, but at least 4 are anon'd i forgot the exact number lol
2. what's your total ao3 word count?
537,345 somehow????
3. what fandoms do you write for?
Mostly Genshin impact! but other fandoms that i've written for are trigun stampede and naruto lol, and then atla by dint of crossover and two unmentioned as they form a crossover that i want to discard to the back of my mind
4. what are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1: 5 times Ningguang saved Beidou and the 1 time Beidou returned the favour (genshin) 2: Mora for a myth (genshin) 3: [redacted] (naruto) 4: Beidou walks off the gangplank (by accident, really) (genshin) 5: Yelan: Spymaster, gambler, self-proclaimed matchmaker (genshin)
5. do you respond to comments?
Yea!! although sometimes it takes a bit to kick my brain into gear to mass respond. Typically needs the right frame of mind, but then i can chug through replying to quite a few!

either Take my heart for it was already yours or Your soul's drowned into silence, No one will rouse you, both genshin with MCD ahaha oops

9. do you write smut? if so, what kind?
ahaha yes >u> um. uh. in my defense generally its inspired by art (taro's art specifically) or for event weeks so imgoingtoduckoutofthisquestionnowplsandthanks
10. do you write crossovers? what's the craziest one you've written?
Yea! The one thats most out of nowhere is Rebirth, Revision, and Revolution, an atla x genshin fic where post apocalypse in genshin verse due to celestia, ning, beidou, yelan and keqing have been reincarnated into the elemental nations! i... really need to finish it lol, there's 3 chapters of *hopefully* 4 up, but the Book of Fire is not cooperating

not entirely certain! i think im usually decent at balancing humor in the right situations and worldbuilding?
17. what are your writing weaknesses?
actually getting the brain to settle down to write ok while true, setting that aside, probably not knowing what to cut (i tend to want to put all the details i can think of in the fic, which isn't really conducive for a variety of reasons)
18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
depends on if i'm actually familiar with that other language or not, and how easy it is for the reader to get at translations (hover text or subscripts, depending), i myself probably won't be capable of doing so.
19. first fandom you wrote for?
...naruto >u>
20. favorite fic you've written?
mora for a myth for all the worldbuilding i got to cram in! and maybe in that vein, the atla x genshin cross :D

5, 8, 11, 14, 18, 20, 29, 36, 38, 49, and 54! I know this is. many many questions to answer so if you’d like, you can pick & choose which ones you’d like to respond to and leave out the ones you don’t!! :)
:'O thank you for being so interested, grace!! :D ok this is gonna be long so strap in XDD bc yes i Am rambling about Them All >:]
5. synesthesia
ohh the fun fact about this one. so this whole poem is about My First Name, and how when i taught some students in a different country they pronounced my name differently, which then made it Look Different in my head to me bc of my synesthesia. which is great! but the funny thing is is that between writing this poem for my capstone + working to publish it Now, i've. uh. changed my first name SDLKJSDG so i'm really not sure how much sense this poem will make to readers (bc my first name is never Mentioned in full, just broken down by syllables/colors/etc), to the point where i'm considering commenting on it for clarity in my opening author's note lol.
favorite line:
by name. They soften my vowels, wring out the green from my e-s.
8. on the eve of my twentieth birthday
fun fact this is another one of those poems that's "personal experience Themes/Ideas but the actual events have never taken place." also it's one i'm still dissatisfied with and i'm currently on a hunt to figure out Why bc i can't place what's making it still feel Not Right
favorite line (ironically usually it's the closing lines of a poem that give me the most trouble, but i do really like this poem's; it's the middle that needs the revisions):
into a different borough, drenched in Central Park’s green. Trees older than both of us. My hand in yours. A river, two rocks, the sea.
11. unmasking
fun fact i wrote this poem to/about one of my tumblr friends <3 they were one of the key figures in helping me realize i'm autistic, and i really valued the safe space they created for me to understand what that meant. i admired their ability to unmask freely, and i carry some of their freedom with me to this day. <33
favorite line (dropped lines are funnn):
when I’m alone. The paper unfurls. My wings widen, ripple to their full width. I am free for a moment. When I shrink myself again, my creases whiten, start to fray.
14. to the eight texts i’ve left unanswered, a response
fun fact this poem really is just "elle uses winter as a metaphor for why she's terrible at responding to texts for eight stanzas" and it kinda works XD also after reading it can you tell i grew up in a northern state lol
favorite line:
We wake up to silence, windows warped with light from an angled sun.
18. my roommate describes depression
fun fact this was a napo poem i wrote inspired by "lonely" by yael naïm. when i first heard it, the middle verse really struck me (so i'm coloring my face / while i am here with you / imagining the landscape of your sorrow / is it yellow or blue?), so i explored a similar concept as a metaphor for depression & empathy.
favorite line (there are other lines in the poem i like more for their imagery, but i love what this line implies; it's the idea that someone is not scared of sitting with another person's pain when they have experienced their own):
I point to flecks of peach and amber. I tell you I am an artist. I am used to colors and what they leave behind.
20. a week after the divorce, we roadtrip to california
fun fact this poem is written with my little brother in mind, so the mention of "twin pines towering above you" is an undetectable reference to gravity falls, his favorite tv show. :') also looking at it just now is making me realize this could Also be a good spoken word piece, since any time i read it in my head i have specific places where the momentum picks up/voice changes/etc. hmm i should give it a try sometime.....
favorite line:
This world is so wide, little brother, I feel as if we will fall through its corners. See the way the redwoods prop up the sky? See the clouds curling like old receipts, how when it snows they might drip down the horizon and disintegrate altogether?
29. to the solider
okay hilarious fun fact is this poem originally started out as a fanpoem about bucky barnes that i wrote one napowrimo which then ended up as a poem about ptsd sdlkjsdg
favorite line:
only to be caged, abandoned, left behind like photographs in an old drawer.
36. in psychology class we discuss different methods of abuse
fun fact this is the Very First "little girl inside my chest" poem i ever wrote! which is wild to look at now after everything that's gone down with that motif in my writing/processing/Life.
favorite line (i like the mixed imagery of internal body parts + parts of a building):
Today, the me from eight years ago shifts in her shelter, elbows my diaphragm, grabs at my breath. She climbs up my rib cage to the second story of my throat, pushes against my trachea like an infant in a womb.
38. relearning what it means to be alive
fun fact i wrote this one year on world suicide prevention day and it is still one of my favorite poems i've ever written on the subject 💛 also fun fact, this was not ever my intent while writing it but after reading it aloud in a few different settings i do believe this poem's true form is spoken word :D
favorite line (this is my favorite part to perform bc it's where the intensity shifts in the poem and your voice gets louder/firmer/a bit more desperate):
When the cold times come, when the familiar shadows crawl down my throat and settle in my stomach, I will stay to watch them leave. I will stay to shout that I am here, and I am healing, and I am not whole––not yet––but that is okay.
49. when i ask you to explain your neurodivergence
ahh this poem! fun fact i originally wrote it for an acquaintance who had reached out to me to be a part of her school assignment. she was supposed to partner with a person who was a member of a community that she was Not a part of, and help that person create something that communicated a biblical truth to that community. she asked if i wanted to write a poem about my experience having adhd, and the whole process was such a wonderful time.
this is one of those poems where the narrator is Someone Else and the "you" is based more off my experiences. i've always used water imagery to articulate what adhd means to me, and i had a lot of fun finding creative pieces of the metaphor to correspond with different aspects of adhd. i even reached out to my other adhd friends to ask what parts of their neurodivergence they have the most trouble accepting, so i could try to weave those into the poem too. i was supposed to connect my art piece with a bible passage, so i worked closely with psalm 139, since that psalm was such a comfort & encouragement to me when i was first seeking diagnosis and wrestling with the challenging aspects of adhd. the reminder that God created my brain how it is and loves its differences is a treasured truth. <3
favorite line:
Let me come with you down to the seabed. I want to watch kelp dance in your currents–– see them flap like flags each time you can’t contain your joy.
54. the ghosts i’ve befriended tell me it’s time
fun fact this poem is three lines long. XD but more specifically, at the end of each section in the collection i have a "coda" poem, aka a very short (2-4 lines) poem that serves to wrap up that section before going into the next one. so this is the last coda poem of the manuscript, inspired by lazarus being raised from the dead.
favorite line: the title, honestly, since it serves as both the title + opening line xD
ask me questions about my poetry manuscript!!
