Creatures of Far'Kour - Mindreaders - Watcher
The Watcher. The much less lethal variety of Mindreader, it hunts by feeding its target their worst fears. The modern types that wander the plains of Far'Kour were trained by the Predecessors to be more docile, but they are quick to decide who is or isn't a threat.
"Be careful in the woods. The dark is the mind reader's domain. All your fear, all your insecurities, it will use to hunt you down." - Business Liaison Lefantis Sr. "Mindreaders? Oh, those things. Listen, don't fight it none and don't think bad thoughts when it's looking at ya, it'll leave you alone. Hell, you feed it some meat and it'll even help you when you get lost!" - Irdavez Mirtoka, Head Biologist of the Far'kour Research Institute

i'm not exactly innocent of this and i am not defending her at all as a person, but sometimes when people criticize l!ly 0rchard, i can't help but side eye a liiiittle bit when they nitpick EVERYTHING about her writing... including stuff that i knowwww the average person wouldn't criticize a cis and/or male writer for doing.
and it bugs me more that you cant point that out without people going "omg its not transmisogynistic to criticize a bad youtuber!! look, we don't misgender her, dont we get a medal for that?"

whenever ppl go "akane is such a bitch ranma should have picked shampoo/ukyo/ryoga" and then immediately follow it up with "akane was prettier when she had long hair anyway" i'm like ah i get it. you don't understand ranma as a person either, you just assumed main character = audience stand in and called it bad writing bc he's with someone that makes sense for him rather than waffling on all potential romantic interests forever like a harem protag

me, procrastinating on one project with another one: it's fine they're both for content I do this for the people and the people will receive SOMETHING sooner by me working on either one 😤

Some other post (can’t remember whose) was making a case for Crowley having been a powerful archangel due to the ways he seems weirdly in tune with/aware of reality compared to other celestial figures, and they used his ability to sense demons approaching him/entering Earth as an example. And listen it was a GREAT post and I WILL be reblogging it once I find it again
But like…I’m also thinking that Crowley is a demon who doesn’t always act like a demon and canonically used to get, like, spontaneously nabbed by Hell to be punished whenever he did something too kind. And that’s not even getting into how constantly vigilant he is over Aziraphale. This guy has been looking over both shoulders for the last several thousand years and with very good reason
Idk. Anyone think that his demon-sensing abilities (contrasted with other angels’ and demons’ apparent lack of ability to track each other down) might have less to do with his original power level as an angel and more to do with the worst case of hypervigilance humankind has seen to date? I mean damn if I and my only loved one were at constant risk of being dragged off for torture I’d get real good at recognizing the warning signs too lmao

Inspired by this post, every Long John Silver's restaurant is purgatory to me now. Deeply haunted after closing. The ghosties are having existential crises - some about fried shrimp being sold in their name - some about he quality of the company and the chips - and some about the ocean taking them and their legacy or something or other
[image description: A digital illustration of the interior of a Long John Silver's seafood restaurant lit only by the ghostly figures of pirates from Black Sails: Silver is laying his head on the table, hands pulling at his hair as he stares in disbelief at a single fried shrimp on the table. Flint sits beside him somewhat concerned and eating chips/fries. In the background various members of the Walrus crew glare at them. /end description]

women’s clothing these days is such a joke. it’s a restricted size range, it’s $100+ for a completely sheer white shirt, it’s overly boxy, it’s hugely oversized, it’s cropped, it’s unflattering, it’s unstructured, it has weird ruffles everywhere, it has sequins, it claims to be a wool blend and it’s like 9% wool, it has never heard of the size guide, it has vanity sizing, it has an in seam of ‘24 for fall, it has strange cut outs, it’s supposedly for the office but is off one shoulder, it’s priced as silk but is polyester, it pills instantaneously, the buttons gape, it’s marketed as sustainable because it’s vicose but the production methods contribute to deforestation and give the workers permanent nerve damage, it’s suiting only available in easter pastel colors, it’s the very idea of a cashmere t-shirt.
who is any of this for?

my thesis that Stede has a competence kink but specifically for being/feeling/seeing himself as competent. that's also how he managed his marital duties with Mary, because imo he needs a fantasy to engage with to do it but he's too repressed for even his subconscious to figure out he could be thinking about men lol. but he can picture himself as a dashing hero or swashbuckling pirate or whatever and kinda crop the other person out (sorry Mary ig. but I'm sure she was imagining a dashing hero too). and also never stop to think about how he's getting off on masculinity in a roundabout way.

If we're being totally honest, the reason I always refer to my friends boyfriends as "your little boytoy" is not because of my natural charm and silly nature, but because I never bother to learn their names

I'm watching a youtube video and they started talking about all the shit in harry potter that just didn't make any fuckin sense, and while I don't believe that the "the books have actually been bad this whole time" sentiment is helpful in the argument against jkr, it is sort of insane that for the like 20 years before she went fully mask off terf everyone just didn't question any of the wild inconsistencies in the books 😭

While I think it's dramatic (and false) to say we're witnessing the death of creativity, I do think we're in an age where self expression will be smothered and discouraged moreso than if it were simply "going against the norm" on account of uniqueness not being profitable enough. Once we are free from this movement encroaching on every aspect of life, I think culture will flourish. I'm depressed that the remainder of my youth will be spent in an age where the demand to capitalize is only increasing
