ravi is so much braver than me because if I was relatively new to a station and a firefighter who I barely knew walked through the station yelling "HEY PROBIE!" loud as hell while also seemingly threatening me with a chainsaw I would've thought I somehow got teamed up with a complete and utter maniac and my ass would've been up and out of that station in 0.5 seconds.

So I've talked about how Buck is possibly older than Eddie here before.

This topic came up on twt and some people are unhappy because they finally realized Buck is possibly older than Eddie (or they're the same age at least) because they think Eddie is too mature to be younger. Like, you know that you don't have to be older to be mature?? 😭

Eddie can be younger than Buck and be more mature. Because he was raised in an environment where he wasn't allowed to be a kid! He was forced to be the man of the house when he was a child, enlisted when he was 19/20 and then became a single parent. He literally had no choice. His maturity always relates back to his responsibilities. (Very common with the oldest kid in poc families. We're always told we are more mature than our age and we grow up thinking it's a compliment)

Buck's maturity is completely different! He was able to seek therapy on his own because he wanted to be a better person and recognized his flaws. He was able to forgive his parents despite how much they broke him!! He's able to grow as an individual.

Eddie on the other hand has trouble growing as an individual because he always falls back into the mindset of being a father first more than anything else. That's why it's taken so long for him to open the can of worms that is Shannon's death. And remember how he also joined an illegal fight club??

Shout-out to @/solemnsun on twt btw who I've started talking to about this who pointed out that they both balance each other out which helped them mature in ways they couldn't when they're alone. Buck allows Eddie to be silly and emotional and impulsive and Eddie allows Buck to be more nurturing and parental and less reckless. (They've got a really cool timeline worked out about how Buck is born before Eddie with a lot of details and proof so I highly suggest you check it out )

Buck and Eddie are both mature and immature in different ways. Just because Buck is possibly older than Eddie in canon doesn't negate any of Eddie's maturity. It's literally just canon ages 😭

BEGINS episodes I would like:

RAVI- I love him and he deserves to be shown more, also I really need him to become a regular because until he isn't, he is considerably much less safe from permanent injury/death.

MADDIE- Deserves a begins episode with backstory not just about Buck/Doug. I think we should see Maddie before Buck was born, and her relationship with Daniel. The impact of Daniel on Maddie hasn't been given the time and thought it deserves. Also Ravi and Maddie begins could be combined so well.

EDDIE- another Eddie begins, this time about before Chris. Would be massively on theme for the season, because Eddie will be exploring who he is without Chris, and Chris is literally at Eddie's childhood home, and has already been to the lake.

Also I want to see more about Chim and Hen's childhoods please!!!

ALSO much of this post is like silly and I know begins episodes are normally about how they became first responders, though tbf Bobby's ones were not.

I’ve been replaying the demo, and every single time I just. I love Ravi. He’s so annoying and suspicious. Caring but distant. He invites you to stay at his house then immediately makes you feel like an unwanted guest–before you even get to his house. He’s a bag of contradictions and oddities. I just want to shake him. Wtf is wrong with drinking plain water, you absolute prune?? We’re roommates who are putting each other under a microscope like lab specimens. We’re annoying each other for fun. Why do you act like that? You’re so off-putting, you’re so endearing. We’re not besties, we’re not worsties, we’re some unnatural and disturbing hybrid. I almost want to stay with him on purpose to annoy him more.

That said, I will absolutely ditch him if you give me the option to stay with Beck or Perri in chapter 3. Call Beck up since they gave me their number like “Hey, turns out I’ll be sticking around for a while, but I had a disagreement with my current host. I sure could use a hero again, if you don’t mind. Plus, we get to hang out more :)” Or look up/ask for Perri’s number and call them up. “So, I’m actually going to be in town for a bit, but I no longer feel comfortable staying with my current host. If it’s not too much trouble, could I stay with you? Plus, it would give us the opportunity to talk more about that interview, since I’m stuck here Willingly Choosing To Stick Around :)” (Goodness, I think about these two too much. I've already got more Beck/Perri fog secrets thoughts to share, but it feels too similar to what I've already said.)

I want to print out this ask and put it on my wall. I've reread it like three times today and I'm just sitting here kicking my feet and twirling my hair.

Ravi is a walking pile of contradictions and I'm glad he comes across as such. I think about him every single day.

Also I'm dying you're not the first person to be baffled by his vendetta against plain water and you probably won't be the last. It's so funny to me. He's sooooo judgy for no reason I love him.

Staying with Ravi just to launch a campaign to annoy him is 100% a valid option ngl, but I'm excited to say that I will be adding stay with Perri and stay with Beck routes!!! Because I deserve a little bit of unnecessary branching, as a treat, and I think you all will enjoy them, too.

Plus it makes me laugh. Ditching the person you met two days ago to stay with one of the people you met yesterday.

No pressure to share your thoughts, but I would love to read them if you decided you wanted to!! Even if they were similar to previous ones. I love getting asks and reading people's thoughts about the characters and the story. It hypes me up to keep writing <3

tw minor character death okay i saw this post and remembered my dream opening episode for season 8 and while i wholeheartedly agree w the point being made in the post i linked i think that we all deserve this idea so here:

the show opens up with a funeral. we get a bunch of people in firefighter dress blues, solemn tone, and then a speech from the head of the LAFD (guy that bobby gave his resignation to) giving a speech about the impact and life of the firefighter whose life they mourn today. we don't see any of the main cast.

we get this line: "the 118 will forever feel the loss of this dedicated firefighter."

cut to black. one week prior.

there's a giant disaster (a la earthquake, tsunami, etc.) the team gets split up, at least three different groups to follow through this harrowing journey. every other scene is a near-death experience. we're all on edge. who dies? is it hen, is it chim, is it buck??? we don't know. we're gripped w tension the entire time.

second to last scene there's a big shift in the building or whatever they're all inside. everyone's rushing to get out. we go between each group, dodging debris, narrowly avoiding falling, there's one last big shift and--

everyone's outside. they're all looking around, checking on their team, but everyone's okay. we're all in disbelieving relief. everyone's okay!!

(maybe we got a moment like the above post, where gerrard almost died but the 118 saved him even though he's a giant dickbag bc that's who they are, and gerrard is still awful bc he's fucking gerrard but it doesn't matter bc everyone's alive!!!)

then we cut to a dimly lit, barely decorated apartment. we watch gerard grab a drink from his fridge, pop the top of the beer and let the cap fall to the floor uncaring as he takes several long gulps. he turns to leave the kitchen and slips on the stupid cap, bangs his head on the corner of his counter, and dies alone on the floor of the shit apartment he got after his third wife divorced him and took the house.

the post-funeral reception we see all of the 118 in their dress uniforms and hen gets to make a comment about reaping what you sow and we all feel great that a (fictional) bigot is dead.

wait. the eddieravi sandbox….. it does compel me. their beautiful soulful brown eyes. the inherent mischief implied here. the extremely fond no strings attached random hookups they have. the potential for buck to become a truly pathetic shell of himself and have to pretend he’s sooo happy that him and eddie both have boyfriends that are not each other (ravi voice he’s not my boyfriend dude eddie voice yeah babe you tell him <3)

In honor of the new season of 911 coming out this week i'll share my favorite thing about the previous season premiere, which was the big dramatic "will athena and bobby die in the cruise?!" vibe AS IF any writer would be stupid enough to kill off twice-nominated-to-the-Oscars Angela Bassett. As if the show could survive without two-time-Golden-Globe-winner Angela Bassett. As if the fandom would ever forgive them for writing off Prime Time Emmy Award winner Angela Bassett. She was nominated as one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People In The World, but sure, they might write her off for drama, right? I was never worried about Athena dying. I believe most human life is equal in value, but I also believe Angela Bassett's life is more valuable than the average human life. Sorry, not sorry.
