Life Update After a Few Days: October 18th, 2023 🎀
I’ve been a little busy with school, work, resting, and starting my workout routine back up, so here’s a little update!
I’m getting a tattoo soon! I know the aesthetic of my blog is pink and girly and coquette and I love everything that comes with the aesthetic and the lifestyle but I have an affinity for gothic style/spooky tattoos, so I’m getting a decent sized spider tattoo on my right thigh and I’m super excited! This is the first big ish sized tattoo besides the two small ones I have, and it’s the first tattoo appointment I’ve ever made so I’m really excited. A little anxious, especially for the shading portion of it, but I’m looking forward to how good it’s going to look when it’s finished and how much more confident it’s going to make me!
I’ve started working out at the gym again! My current schedule is three days of weightlifting (pull day, leg day, push day), and two days of just cardio. It feels so nice both mentally and physically to be taking care of myself like this again. I even bought some new workout shorts and gym clothes and I’m feeling better than ever! I’m focusing on improving my mental health right now and working out is doing wonders for me!
I’m working so much right now, but it’s worth it because I need the money for rent, tattoos, gym stuff, groceries, and whatever other necessities and wants pop up. I’m pulling doubles most Saturdays and it’s a little tiresome and energy draining but I’m managing pretty well. I won’t pull doubles every Saturday tho because that drives me straight into burnout and I’m trying to avoid that.
I hit 31 days on Duolingo and I’m at 28 days on Busuu, super proud of myself for keeping up with those two goals for now! I’m still working through the first two lessons of Genki and I’m still using the Kanji app but my studying has been a little bit more spread out because of my busy schedule. I’m trying to learn how to better balance multiple things without hyperfixating on just one and forgetting about everything else. I’ve noticed I tend to do that and that’s not the most productive thing for me.
I think I mentioned in a previous post that I spent a lot of money on stuff from Amazon (and Ulta) and most of it is here already besides the last couple Amazon items coming in today! I love the workout clothes I bought and the fitness/health tracker planner I bought is really interesting. I also got my language tracking bullet journal stuff in the mail so I am super looking forward to starting that up soon. Again, I noticed I tend to hyperfixate on one thing at a time but right now I’m trying to balance all my interests and things I need to do. My current “balance breakup” is: fitness/nutrition, Japanese language study, school/classes and academic success, work/making money, self care (sleep, skincare, reading, journaling, etc), boyfriend time, appointments, and chores/cleaning/housework. Sounds like a lot but there’s 24 hours in a day and 7 days in a week. Not everything has to be done in one day and as long as I manage my time efficiently, then I’ll be successful. I also try to take into account my energy levels, daily tasks, possible “curveballs”, and my current physical and mental/emotional well being. Flexibility is a must in my life but I do like having routines and things to stick to, plan and schedule wise.
I’ve been working on some posts ideas for this blog so it’s not just daily updates and stuff, but actual tips, advice, and my current routines and schedules too, to maybe help motivate and inspire you guys! I have some things in mind currently, so hopefully I can find the time to type them up and post them!
Thank you guys for 850+ followers! I never thought my blog could grow like this and I’m super happy it has! This community has given me such a safe and comforting place where I can just be myself without worry. I appreciate all of you so much!! I hope all of you have amazing days, amazing sleep, amazing skin, amazing grades, and that life is going great for all of you!

Hi yongie! Sooooo idk if you’ll have time for this (if you are busy don’t worry about it) but I wanted to ask what FIRST steps to take to fix your life if it’s been unhealthy! I know it’s different for everyone but if you have any advice to start everything on the right path it would help greatly! I was so distracted by work and surface level positivity (everything’s fine, if I just keep going forward etc) that I wasn’t making any spiritual or mental progress. I was just kinda ignoring it bc I was at what I thought was an okay enough place. I didn’t fully notice how physically and mentally unhealthy I was becoming by just focusing on work and school and ignoring small issues. Then BANG one day the consequences of my choices and prioritizations hit me at once. Even though I didn’t feel it before! Now physically I feel terrible from my crappy choices build up the past year (not getting enough minerals/nutrients, not going to gym, quitting hobbies, not sleeping enough) and mentally I’m more unstable than I’ve been in years (huge depressive episodes, insomnias, distancing myself from others, anxieties & overthinking). But also at the same time I threw SOOO much money and investment into school that right now I don’t have money or time to do things like start up my hobbies, buy meds, or go back to the gym even though I’m struggling.
I just really would like advice from someone learning abt this stuff on what first steps to take to fix something like this. The consequences of build up from bad decisions. It just feels so stuck.
Ily yongie hope your doing well at school and in life! I’m sure your busy and Ik I wrote this so confusing so you don’t have to answer. Hey hun, thank you for sharing all of your struggles with me. I will teach you a way that can help you and of course, this can go FOR EVERYONE THAT IS STRUGGLING to keep their life healthy and in check
The first thing I want to say is that sometimes it's okay to stay in bed, it's okay to feel sad and it's okay to take time for oneself before getting back on track. You aren't a machine, and your divine timing needs to be respected.
I will advise you to first have the mindset (which it seem you got it) like admitting to ourselves that this life isn't going good and that we want to change. That's the first step. Now secondly, I usually help patients to set goals. Minor goals, Medium Goals, and Big goals. there are some examples:
Minor goals: Goals set for a day to one week
cleaning the bedroom
read a chapter from my favorite book
go out in the sun
eat 4 meals today
do one session of pilates
Medium goals: Goals set for a week or the month
Doing 3 sessions of workouts at home
Seeing my friends/family
Challenging myself to go to the museum alone
Big goals: Goals set for a month or a year.
Have a driving license
Getting my school year
Seeing a therapist
Achieving something that would make me happy
Your goals need to be set based on your needs and what you want to achieve. To keep track of all of it, I usually suggest you keep track of schedules that you plan beforehand, with cognitive stimulation, journaling, etc.
What if there's a goal that I wasn't able to achieve? : Then it's okay. you still have plenty of days, weeks, and months, to achieve it. It's about baby steps and motivation, slow progress, don't expect to change your lifestyle in a week. It's a start as sometimes mental health, financial issues, and life events can make it challenging to keep track. In those times, breathe. Take a break, then come back stronger. Look for what didn't work, and start by changing that.
If you can instaure also a reward system for each goal that you reach. by the end of each week and/or month, give yourself a reward based to celebrate what you archived, even if it's minor. Allow yourself to have that chocolate cake, allow yourself to binge-watch your favorite show without leaving the bed, and allow yourself to buy that thing you have been wishing for.
It's not about how quickly you do things. It's about how steadily you are writing your own story and developing at your own pace.

Declutter Your Morning Routine for Deeper Mindfulness

Morning routines. What do you think of when you hear that term? Some people feel lazy and immediately yawn. At the same time, some associate it with keeping themselves active and getting things done. If you ask me now, I would happily say I’m a part of the second kind. But if you asked me a few years ago, I would probably yawn, too. So, how did I achieve that morning routine, and how did decluttering my morning routine help me deepen my mindfulness?
1.Be Aware of Your Surroundings
This may sound like the simplest step in every step-by-step guide. But it’s deeper than that. You need to be aware of your surroundings, such as where you are, who you are, what you have ahead of you, and why you need what you want. Is that thought-provoking? It sure should be. Here are a few ways through which you can be aware of your surroundings:
Be mindful: when you wake up, acknowledge that you have woken up. Use all of your five senses of seeing, touching, hearing, smelling, and tasting to awaken your mind.
Be strategic: plan and move about by strategy. You need to know what you have ahead of you and how to go about it accordingly.
Think about your day: know what you have to do that day when you wake up and think about the things you have to achieve.
These are some ways through which you can become more aware of your surroundings and kick off your morning to a good start.
2.Download Apps to Keep Track of Stuff
Sometimes, the human mind cannot be completely relied upon to keep track of your personal information, health, important dates, schedule management, etc. In order to make sure you have everything you need in one place, downloading an application and putting your data up there is a great way to keep everything sorted. Here’s how apps can help you:
Keeping things cluttered: downloading an app to keep your information in one place is one of many great decluttering tips too.
Saves time: looking for a crucial piece of information that you cannot find at 5 in the morning? With a simple tap on the phone, you will find that required piece of information.
Makes Analyzing Easy: if you’re someone who saves work-related stuff on their phone, an application can make it way easier to analyze information.
All you need to do now is look up for the best life organizer app online and go for one which has the most functionalities, good reviews, user-friendly, and of course, one that consumes the least storage! A personal management software is perhaps one of the best ways to keep track of your personal stuff while also keeping it confidential and safe.
3.Wake up with Gratitude
Waking up with gratitude can become a habit if practiced consistently. But yes, I will be honest. Being consistent in gratitude is probably the hardest. In order to wake up with gratitude, you need to sleep with gratitude as well. Think about everything you’re grateful for before going to sleep, and hopefully, you will wake up with the same energy as well. If you don’t, you can think of all the things for which you are grateful. It can be something as seemingly small as being able to wake up that day or something big, such as an achievement you may have gotten in your life. Here are a few ways you can wake up with gratitude:
Make a list: list down everything you’re grateful for, or just 5 things would be enough, too. You can think of those 5 things in your mind.
Journaling: write down those 5 things you’re grateful for. Writing them down will make you reflect on them even more and make you realize how grateful you truly are for them.
Choose powerful words: it’s important that you choose powerful words when thinking of what you’re grateful for and even when writing them down. They’ll leave a psychological effect on your mind and make you feel powerful, too.
Waking up with gratitude is one of the best decluttering tips, especially for your mind. The way your living space, wardrobe, or phone may become cluttered after some time, the same way your mind can become cluttered too. Therefore, it’s important to declutter it. And what better time than the morning when you wake up, ready to start a fresh new day?
4.Start Your Day with a Healthy Breakfast
A healthy breakfast is the best way to kick-start your day. The phrase ‘you are what you eat’ is pretty true. When you feed your body with the right foods, you’re setting yourself up for success, both physically and mentally. And isn’t that what everyone wants? Instead of grabbing something sugary on the go, take a moment to enjoy a balanced meal that will keep you energized throughout the morning.
Choose whole grains like oatmeal or whole-wheat toast.
Include proteins like eggs, yogurt, or nuts. (if you’re not allergic)
Add fruits or vegetables for extra vitamins and nutrients.
Skip sugary and processed foods that can leave you feeling sluggish later.
By starting your morning with a nourishing breakfast, you’ll feel sharper and more prepared to take on the day.
5.Get Moving and Feel the Difference
Exercising in the morning is like hitting the refresh button on your body and mind. It’s one thing that makes you feel better about yourself in seconds. It doesn’t have to be an intense workout—just a little movement can go a long way in boosting your mood and getting your mind in gear. Plus, it helps you shake off any grogginess and jumpstart your energy for the day ahead.
Try yoga or simple stretches to wake up your muscles.
Try Pilates or watch its videos online.
Take a brisk walk or light jog to clear your mind.
Do some strength training for a quick energy boost.
Add deep breathing to your routine to feel calm and focused.
When you make time to move in the morning, you’ll feel more grounded and ready to tackle whatever comes your way. It’s the perfect way to get your day off on the right foot.
6.Follow a Routine
Ever since I started following a routine that I had set for myself, it helped me keep track of my life more than anything else. A lot of people often hesitate before coming up with a routine or forming a routine to follow because of the level of dedication it requires, or so they believe. The truth, in fact, is quite different. The key to setting a routine that you can actually follow is creating a routine that is a lot similar to your existing routine. For example, if you wake up at 9 am every day, you cannot set a new routine to wake up at 5 am every day. You can set your waking time as 8 am and decrease that with time. Therefore, whatever routine you set for yourself needs to be achievable, attainable, and, most importantly, close to your actual routine.
Write down your routine somewhere or use personal management software to set it
Set small goals so that you can achieve them
Be consistent with your routine so that you stick to it
Find your motivators and write them down
Track your progress from time to time
Reward yourself upon completion of certain tasks
One of the best ways of schedule management is to plan it all out and make up your mind to stick to it. If you have a routine that you know you have to follow, that is the very thing you will remind yourself of the first thing when you wake up. So when you wake up, your body will already know what your routine is and what you need to do that day.
7.Declutter Regularly
If you haven’t gotten it from the blog yet, then here it is again: declutter, declutter, and declutter. This applies to your wardrobe, your living space, your surroundings, your mobile phone, and practically everything around you. If you’re looking for decluttering tips, here are a few:
Keep your clothes folded and assorted in your wardrobe from time to time so that you can find them whenever you need them.
If you have a bunch of random stuff lying around you, pick it up. Place it in its place.
Is your mobile phone full of random pictures and old text messages that you no longer need? This is your sign to delete them all.
Each and every one of your belongings need to be in its right place. If you haven’t set a place for your belongings, its time you do so.
By decluttering your surroundings, you will find more room to breathe and live your life without any worries. Cluttered surroundings psychologically affect your mind and make you think you don’t have your life figured out. On the other hand, a clean and decluttered space will make you feel fresh as soon as you wake up.
8.Make Your Bed
Yes, you read that right. Make your bed before going to sleep in it, after waking up, and keep fixing it throughout the day. You can also get yourself a nice bed set or duvet set with a comforter to keep your bed as comfy as you can. Your bed is the place you get your beauty sleep, so you need to make sure it’s habitable for you to sleep in it comfortably. Looking for more ways to keep your bed looking and feeling comfortable?
Grab some throw pillows from any home décor store for that extra cushioning,
Buy a silk pillow cover for its many benefits: clearer skin, frizz-free hair, lesser dirt and bacteria, and ultimately better sleep,
Get a matching bed set, with a pillow cover, throw pillow covers, bedsheet, comforter, and everything else,
Get fitted sheets to avoid making your bed again and again,
Go for light-colored bed sets to keep them clean and bacteria-free.
So now, you not only know how to make your bed, but how to make it in the best ways possible. Your bed is where you end your night, and where you start a new day from. If your bed is made and kept tidy, so will be your day!
9.Know Where Your Stuff Is
Let’s face it. We’ve all been through this situation at least once in our lives. Or when it comes to me, I’d say too many times. You go to the mall, and you purchase a brand-new skincare product, a dress that you love, and some snacks to munch on. You get home, you look at all your stuff, and you realize it’s time to go to bed, so you keep your stuff away, and you fall asleep. A few days later, you feel like something’s missing. Your days kept you so busy that you almost forgot that you got yourself a bunch of stuff. What do you do now? You try to jog your memory but can’t recall where your stuff is. After almost giving up and going through all your dressers, you finally find the items from your little shopping trip. How could all of this be avoided? Easy. Know where your stuff is.
Your skincare needs to be on your dressing table
Your snacks need to be in a designated compartment
Your clothes, of course, in your closet
And your makeup, also on your dressing table, but in see-through storage boxes
In this way, you never lose track of where your stuff is at any time. And what’s the most important thing in the morning when you’re getting ready? Finding the right things at the right time.
Conclusion
Decluttering your morning routine will help you strengthen mindfulness, which will have an overall positive affect on your day, demeanor, attitude, and your life! It begins with something as small as setting a small goal and something as big as taking your time out to declutter your stuff. Happy decluttering!

Tips from your therapist that work!
(... but its not as simple as that)
theres many tips like "create a sleep schedule" and "exercise more" that most people have heard especially from their therapist. and yes these ideas help... but they are not always accessible, are easy for the person to incorporate into their life or a fix all.
create a sleep schedule
proper sleep helps however we cannot always agree how much sleep some one needs. creating a sleep schedule and routine can help. stuff like going to bed at the same time every day, not looking at electronics before bed, doing a simple relaxing exercise or a warm shower. but.... not everyone can implement a schedule for a variety of reasons. and some people even using a schedule and routine for months actually find help for their restlessness.
eat right, and drink more water
being hydrated and having proper nutrition helps a ton. having the right amount of vitamins, minerals, protein and other nutrients in your diet do wonders for your mental health! but... its not a cure. people with depression will still have depression even if they have all the nutrients they need. it can help but its not a cure, plus some people struggle getting all the nutrients they need due to a variety of disabilities. I personally struggle keeping hydrated and eating all I need to eat even with the help of apps. some times i feel nauseous from pain or I feel too fatigued to even make myself a glass of water.
exercise regularly
exercising regularly can make the body and mind feel great ... but it can be not assessable. some people cannot find the to do it, or have the space to do it, or even feel up to it. well other people have no idea how to, if you have something like a physical disability you might struggle finding exercises you can do. in my personal case if I do stuff like jumping jacks I get an immediate intense migraine. i've personally run into so much more "you need to exercise" rather then "heres some exercises that are accessible". plus for a variety of reasons theres people who just cannot exercise for reason of disability or life circumstances.
create a routine
creating a routine can help you stay on track, reduce stress and keep you organized but... especially for mentally ill and neurodivergent people creating a routine is hard, and sticking to a routine is hard. maybe even the person needs outside help creating and sticking to a routine.
do journaling
journaling can help you understand your emotions and feelings, it can be a place to keep track of things you struggle keeping track of but.... not everyone can journal or knows how to journal in a way that works for them. just saying "try journaling" is useless if a person requires a specific format to journal. journaling can be writing down your day, but i can be just having a chart of your emotions, or it can be texting your one friend every day how you feel. but like everything else not everyone can journal.
we can acknowledge that there are simple things like drinking more water and sleeping better do wonders. sleeping better and eating better can turn really bad depression symptoms into a way more manageable version. so in an ideal situation you would do a combination of therapy, medication and implementing healthy habits (like ones listed above). but we can also acknowledge its not a cure all, not everyone can do some or most of these healthy habits, or obviously some one with a disability would inherently struggle doing healthy habits.
my main point of this all is just believe people when they say they cannot do something, its fully not up to you to decide if they are "not trying hard enough" or lying. it really is none of your business

January 8th
Hi, I’m back (almost started with hi guys, then remembered I have no followers lmao). It's been a week since I posted last, and I think I'm going to start posting every Sunday at 9:30 PM, essentially right before I go to bed. To be honest I don't know how long I’m going to be able to keep that schedule up, I might be taking on too much, but hey, we shall see, things change all the time. 
In the week thats passed, not too much has happened. School started back up on the second, unfortunately, and I’m already drained. Ever since my visit to the hospital, everything is so much more draining than before. I hope eventually I’m able to pick myself back up from this burnout, but apparently, the time it takes to recover from burnout is about 3-5 years. I don't have 3-5 years to heal from all this lol. 
We had a project due the day after we came back to my AP Lit class, our personal portfolio. I had a lot of fun writing it over the semester, but I also hated it. It took me through a lot of emotions and lore related to my past. I talked about my mom, my most recent failed relationship, and my failed friendships, all of which made me sad. I also talked about my grandma though, and my wonderful stepmom, so I think overall it kinda works out in a way. I think the worst part was putting the pictures into the binder. Pictures of my biological mom (you'll hear about her eventually) as well as pictures of my grandma. I may have been a little petty and attacked my ex in the portfolio, which is funny considering hes in that class and everyone can read them. I wonder if he will approach me about it, I doubt it, he's kind of a coward. 
On a much more positive note, things have become slightly more serious with this guy I’m talking to. Some might say it is FAR too soon to be talking to another guy fresh out of a relationship, but it’s been over a month now since the last one, and I’m too much of an all-or-nothing person to be hurt by one guy for too long. Or girl. I just struggle with attachment stuff. ANYWAYS. He’s way different than any guy I've ever talked to, and tbh, its refreshing. He's kind and gentle, but also ambitious and driven. It's something I've always wanted in a partner. I really hope it goes somewhere because he is genuinely so amazing lol. 
This week in the mental health section we have…journaling. Now I know a lot of people just say journal to get your feelings out there but people don't actually talk about the psychology behind journaling, the benefits of it, and WHY it helps. I know this is a pretty basic thing to talk about but its my first post with this little section added so bear with me, it's fine. 
There are a lot of different ways to journal and different kinds of journaling, and it really doesn't matter which one you do, it varies on your needs and what you’re trying to prioritize. I personally bullet journal and have another separate journal for my thoughts and feelings. So a lot of people wonder how journaling can actually be beneficial and I did a lil bit of research and fouuuuund… depending on the kind of journaling you do, it can be either just a release of emotions, it can help track symptoms of mental illness (or physical illness if you suffer from medical conditions, you can track if it’s getting worse or not, especially helpful in cases of people with chronic illness, but again, it varies person to person). Journaling can even help to identify negative self-talk that you may do unknowingly, and you can put in the work to change those negative thoughts into something positive. (All of this information is from a study posted by the University of Rochester Medical Center).
So to focus on the benefits of regular (“regular”) journaling, I’m mostly just going to talk about how it can be done and what to recognize in your journal entries (ITS ALWAYS HELPFUL TO GO BACK AND REREAD THEM EVEN IF IT HURTS, you can see how far you've come, and see what’s changed and whats benefited you throughout your writing journey). Journaling can be instrumental in the progression towards certain goals, as it is an internal reflection, slightly different from a diary, which can be defined as writing about the events of a day, and is mostly a daily thing. Journaling doesn't have to be a daily thing, it can be something you do more often when you’re having a rough time, with long entries full of crossed-out words and scribbles, versus the times you’re doing okay and when the entries are shorter and the words are neater. Either way, journaling is very good for self-reflection, helping you identify triggers and other things that may cause you any amount of emotional stress.
I think my favorite kind of journaling is bullet journaling, which I’ve only been doing for a short while but it’s very different from my thoughts and feelings journal. My bullet journal is something I use to keep track of assignments and also my habits, my reading, and things I've watched, I might start using it to track screen time. I also use it to track the story I’ve begun and this blog as well. It’s becoming very helpful when it comes to the planning of my future and the progression of my goals. I personally never found my thoughts and feelings journal to be very helpful when it came to goal progression, but it’s different for everyone.
One of the best parts of a bullet journal is the creative freedom that comes with it, of course, that’s not for everyone, and some people may simply choose a more minimalistic setup, or they may just not bullet journal at all, but that’s seriously one of the most therapeutic parts. Its a very chill process, I personally stole my setup from a YouTuber who I like, so it’s not my own creativity, but thats something Id like to do someday.

Pretty sure I missed posting yesterday. Uh-oh, starting to fall off the wagon. I was doing so well!
I don't know what it is about posting here that helps me stay on track. Even though almost no one ever reads my posts (or maybe they do, but almost no one ever "likes" them), I still find it so incredibly helpful to post here.
I know that writing things out has always helped me formulate my thoughts, and I'm definitely a tick-things-off-a-list type of person, but I could easily keep a notebook for that.
Seeing other people's productivity posts motivates me to take action also, but I could do that without posting myself.
I think it's the thought that maybe someone is reading my posts and maybe finding it helpful or motivating the same way others' posts are for me that makes the blogging different from a notebook journal.
Anyway, yesterday I had to spend a lot of time trying to work out a pinched nerve in my back with the foam roller. But I did also spend far too much time watching YouTube videos, which would have been okay if I had been working out the pinched nerve at the same time, but I wasn't.
I did have a busy, exhausting week last week, and I did need some productive rest. Let's not beat ourselves up for taking the time to rest and recover.
But now it's time to get going with the tasks that will move us forward again.
Today, I still do need to take the time to work out this pinched nerve. I also need to take the time to care for my messed-up toenail, which is what caused the pinched nerve in my back in the first place. But I need to be more focused and specific about this self-care. Like, "mindful stretching for 20-minute intervals" and "soak foot in warm water three times today for 20 minutes each time". Not "do some stretches and stuff today". Let's not use our health issues as an excuse to go down a YouTube rabbit hole!
And, while I'm mindfully taking care of my bodily ailments today, I really need to continue with purging my Google account. I think I made no progress on that yesterday at all, so I'm still at about 13GB.
Last but not least, I need to feed myself some healthy food today. Yesterday and the day before were less than optimal from a nutritional standpoint.
I do have some dog-walks today, and I'm planning to attend a local event for about an hour this evening, so I need to schedule my self-care and digital declutter around that.

@noetic-noesis-noein Look, I know you never sent me this, but I have ENTIRELY too many thoughts and feelings about these two. So here you go. Enjoy! Harvey is more dominant. This should need no explanation, really. Harvey is dominant and assertive both in and out of the bedroom. He’s very protective of Arden, but never in a creepy or uncomfortable way. He just doesn’t want to see her get hurt, even though he knows she has powers and is perfectly capable of protecting herself. I think they’re both cuddly, but Harvey more so. He’s extremely touch-starved and doesn’t get to show physical affection often. He will cuddle the shit out of his partner until they get annoyed and ask him to stop. He usually falls asleep holding her. Harvey is the big spoon. Duh.
Arden uses all the hot water. Harvey doesn’t mind cold showers. He won’t complain too much if she hogs the hot water. They shower together a lot and share the hot water. The most trivial thing they fight over: They rarely fight, and the things they DO fight over are not trivial. Arden will always tell Harvey when he’s pushing himself too hard, not getting enough sleep, etc. It’s very hard for him to just relax and take it easy, even when his mental health is at stake. The man is a chronic overachiever and perfectionist. While they both want to make Gotham a better place, they have differing ideas about how to do it. Arden does most of the cleaning. Harvey isn’t the domestic type, but he’s happy to help and make the workload easier. Who calls up the super/landlord when the heat’s not working? Harvey, for sure. He grew up in a crappy apartment with bad heating, so he’s intimately familiar with that situation. Who leaves their stuff around? Arden. Harvey is a very organized person, he's not one to leave his stuff lying around. He’s a bit of a neat freak, I think it stems from growing up in a bad neighborhood and being surrounded with filth, grime, and trash. I can definitely see Arden just leaving her stuff everywhere and cluttering up Harvey’s nice, meticulously-organized, townhouse. But he doesn’t mind because he loves her. Arden remembers all their anniversaries. She won’t let Harvey forget. Harvey doesn’t keep track of anniversaries as much as he probably should, but he loves celebrating them with her. Arden remembers to buy milk. Harvey is so stressed and over-worked he doesn’t always remember. I think Arden handles most of their grocery shopping. Harvey will happily accept whole milk, but he loves chocolate milk the best and makes no secret about it.  Arden does most of the cooking. Harvey can cook, but the food he makes is very basic and practical. There’s nothing fancy or exotic in his repertoire. As a child, it was learn to cook or starve. His parents weren’t always around to feed him and his sister. Arden picks what they watch. Harvey doesn’t watch much TV outside of Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, and classic movies on TCM, so he’s happy to let her choose. He’ll even tolerate vapid reality shows for her. Nicknames for each other: Arden calls Harvey Harv affectionately, (sometimes exasperatedly) and full names him whenever she scolds him. Harvey calls her sweetheart, sometimes baby. Harvey always pays for dinners. Because he’s a gentleman.  Arden steals the covers on cold nights, and Harvey lets her.  Harvey kissed Arden first. It was an impulsive move, and he was probably a little drunk. Harvey’s more confident and uninhibited when he’s drunk. At first he’d be super flustered and apologize, but once he realized how much Arden liked it, he would kiss her again. This time longer and harder. Arden remembers everything. Harvey is stressed, overworked, and doesn’t have the best sleep schedule, so he sometimes forgets things. Writing important names/dates in his journal or a notebook helps. After becoming a martyr, he has  memory loss about his time in Arkham that takes a while to heal. But Arden is patient with him. Most of the time. If Arden were hurt, Harvey would try his best to treat her at home with a first aid kit. If it’s really serious, they’d go to the ER. Harvey is both very stubborn and desensitized to pain. It’s extremely difficult to get him to go to the hospital unless he’s actively bleeding to death. He’d rather have Arden take care of him unless there’s absolutely no choice. Harvey is the dirty talker. This man has a filthy mouth both in and out of the bedroom. Random headcanon: Arden is one of the few people who ever gets to see Harvey’s vulnerable side. He always feels safe and comfortable with her, even comfortable enough to show her his moments of weakness.

bullet journal and productivity info (with personal stuff added, srry)
sooo... i started a bullet journal! (@a-social-asshole because i *think* i remember talking to you about bujos? if so it was rlly long ago lol)
Actually this is the second time I attempted it, the first time i made a few tiktok videos of fixing & decorating the notebook cover but only ended up using it for like... a day. the book i used was too bulky and kinda falling apart, and the lines were too uniform. (pro tip--make sure you use a journal you *like*)
now i have a dotted journal! it's decently slim and has a sophisticated cover (white marble with an inspirational quote in gold) and it isnt like my usual style but it works and its nice enough that i dont feel the intense need to cover it in duct tape.
so far i have an index, a goal collection for the school year, a habit tracker, and my first daily log. i'm not doing monthly or weekly spreads because i have a more standard linear planner for the scheduling part. (I figured premade stuff would be easier for me personally in that department.)
i'm using my bujo almost exclusively at school with the exception of the habit tracker, which is daily. it's to help me keep track of assignments, my general pain level (in case i need to provide evidence of my chronic pain when i eventually see a doctor) study tarot by pulling a card each day, be more grateful, and remember tasks (so far, reminders to discuss certain things with instructors).
if you want to start bullet journaling but you find the idea daunting--all the stuff you see on Pinterest that looks amazing and time consuming can scare people off--it's important to remember that bullet journals are supposed to be highly customizable. you can do as little or as much as you want. start small! my journal is super minimalistic, very few symbols, simple borders, literally just the date at the start of my daily logs and my messy handwriting below. also, you dont need a lot of supplies. I just have a journal, some highlighters from the dollar store, papermate marker pens, more papermate pens from walmart, and washi tape. you dont even need the washi tape, i've only used it once so far and i prefer making my own borders (by literally just putting lines between the dots.)
i really hope the journal and my planner help me stay on top of things this year, because to be honest i've never been the best student, and i want to improve myself in any way i can.
i have a lot of mental health issues, so it might sometimes be ambitious for me. i've heard that the key to improving is almost always a positive mindset. but you can't fall victim to toxic positivity in that--you have to know that you can have bad days, you can have days where you just can't bring yourself to study after classes, but you also need to be able to bounce back from those days.
(this is also why i'm deliberately putting self-reflection, self-care and time to just watch videos to my schedule.)
anyway, i hope if anybody read this they find it at least a little helpful! i wrote this out because i had to watch like 8 seperate videos to gather this info.

Update Check In - October 7th thru October 10th, 2023 🎀
I am officially back home from seeing my boyfriend and now I am big sad because I already miss him again. I was not as productive as I thought I would’ve been while with him these last three days but I’m also not mad about my lack of stuff done. I got some quality time with him and I am so happy with that. I did do some things that would count s productivity, such as some Japanese studying and a short amount of homework. I think I’ll use this post as a motivator for some stuff I need to do with a little bit of what I did this weekend.

I also really enjoy the Genki I textbook so far, I’m still trying to figure out a good note taking technique for myself with this textbook but I really like writing down the end of lesson practice exercises. I think I want to get better at reading and writing, and listening, and my goal is to start italki lessons by December/Jaunary. If I don’t start my italki lessons until a bit later tho, I won’t be upset because I know learning Japanese is a long process and something I’ll be working on for a good chunk of my life.

not much academic stuff on the list for the day but I’m trying to take it a little easier with my school things as I am exhausted from a long day of flying and airports yesterday. However, I am using today as like, a set up day for my upcoming days/week. Productive planning is basically my goal for today with a little bit of actively doing some work. I am excited to start my language tracking bullet journal and plan some stuff for working out as I am planning on going back to the gym next week. I want to start with light cardio for the first week just to get me in the habit of going and then after I’m going to step back into the weight room and start lifting light. My boyfriend got me motivated to work on my mental and physical health a bit better, so I’m definitely excited!
I feel with the exercising, it will help me manage my stress better, which I feel will lead to better mood and better food choices. Exercising alone is enough of a motivator to take my nutrition more seriously. I’m more focused on the mental and emotional health aspect of working out than I am the physical stuff, but I’m excited for all the benefits regardless. I just want to take better care of my health in every aspect, in a way that aligns with my values. Hopefully I will have better posts full of more information and stuff I’ve done during the day once I get all areas in my life back in balance with each other.

Waking up groggy you checked your alarm clock, 12:00 in the afternoon you have definitely seen worse you groaned as you got up from your bed. 
You had always followed a very specific routine in all honestly it just made sense living on your own had definitely impacted you and your mental health so sticking to a routine made it feel like your life was always on track, when it certainly was not. 
The first thing on your non-existent schedule was coffee, no matter the time you always needed some sort of caffeine when you are tight on cash it was tea at home, but when you were able and that was most of the time you went to a small coffee shop that was about a fifteen-minute walk from your studio apartment. 
After doing the basic self-hygiene you grabbed your tote bag filled with your work stuff and started walking to the directions to Beachwood Cafe.
The walk is always quiet and calm, but it always gave you little bits and pieces into other people’s lives. Like the old lady watering her plants or the way, the housewife takes her toddler for a walk in his stroller. The sense of familiarity comforted you. 
“Hello there.” 
You whipped your head toward the direction of the voice, this was not part of the routine you had never seen this man before, his shoulder-length blonde hair and ridiculously blue eyes were unfamiliar yet comforting. He was confident yet nonchalant with his greeting.
“Hello,” you said with a small smile he looked down at you smiling.
You continued to walk seeing Beachwood in the distance.
“Were you going to get a cuppa?” you nodded your head “That is so crazy because so was I.” he picked up his pace so he can open the door for you. 
You muttered a small thank you and walked in, Beachwood was a small but very popular coffeeshop the owner Dayla has became a very good friend of yours and always brightened up your day with a joke or two.
“Mimi, how are you love?” she asked from behind the counter.
“I’m good Day how are you?”
“Can’t complain if I say so myself.” she said grinning “Let me guess Caffe Latte and a pastry?”
“Yes ma’am, it’s late in the day you didn’t run out of the pastries yet?”
“I just took out a fresh batch right now, I knew you were going to have a late start today.”  God, you loved this woman.
You stepped aside to get your wallet from your bag 
“What would you like young man?” Dayla asked the man who walked in with you.
“I’ll just get a cup of tea please, Oh! I’ll get her order as well” he said as he saw you handing money to Dayla.
“That’s okay!” you said feeling the heat rise to your cheeks.
“Please I insist.” He said practically throwing the money to pay for your order at Dayla.
“Please let me-”
“Mimi! he said he insists go sit down,” Dayla said looking at you wide-eyed.
You looked at both of them and walked to the seat you usually sat at and what a surprise the man came with you.
“Do you mind if I sit here?” he said motioning to the seat across from you.
“Go ahead,” you said
He sat down looking out the window and then back at you. “I’m sorry I realized I never introduced myself I’m Roger Taylor.” he said extending his hand out to you, you grabbed it.
“I’m Mickey… well it’s not really Mickey but it’s just easier to pronounce.” Stupid you should’ve just said Mickey.
“May I ask what your real name is?” Roger said still holding your hand
“It’s Mikaela but Mickey is fine.”
“Can you say it one more time, I want to make sure I got it right.” he rubbed his thumb across your knuckles.
“Umm… yeah it’s pronounced Me as in me and you, Ki like eye but with a K in front of it and Yella like yell with an A after… That sounded really complicated actually you don’t have to-”
“Mikaela?” he said slowly looking up at you for confirmation. 
“Yeah!” your heart skipped a beat it is so nice hearing your name.
“Nice to meet you Mikaela” he said as he brought your hand up to his mouth and pressed a soft kiss on your knuckles.
Fuck.
Of course, at the exact same time as that happened, Dayla came with your drinks. She set your drink down smirking and left without saying another word.
“Is it safe to assume that you are not from here?” He asked while blowing on his tea before taking a small sip.
“Yeah, you can say that. What gave it away.” You said smiling from your coffee cup
“You’re just different from everyone not in a bad way either I like it. Where are you from.”
Oh god, I can die happy right now.
“Well, it's a bit of a long story.”
“I don't have anywhere to be.” He said his blues eyes burning into yours
Oh wow, he's so hot
“Oh in that case. I was born in a small town in Spain. Spanish was my first language so that’s why I talk funny.”
“I like the way you talk.”
He did not. Your face was definitely red.
“How does a girl from Spain come to London?”
“Ummm sheer luck I suppose.”
“Can I ask you a question?”
“Sure”
“Was it hard learning another language?”
“Learning English was super difficult sometimes I feel like I dont know what I’m saying, but English is my third language my second was Italian.”
“Italian? Where do you find the time to learn two extra languages?” He was genuinely in disbelief
“Well my mom was from Spain and my dad was from Italy so I just needed to know both and they’re pretty similar to each other so it wasn’t that hard.
“What do you do for fun?”
“What do I do for fun?” I repeated thinking hard
“Yes, you obviously must have loads of friends.”
“Well… I do have friends, I just can’t think of one at this second.”
This is embarrassing now he thinks I’m a loser
“Don’t worry I don’t have many friends either but consider me as your friend Mickey.”
“What about you? What do you do for fun?” I need to change the subject oh my god.
“Well, I’m in a rock band.”
“A rock band?!” You said a little too loudly
“What about me isn’t rock and roll Mickey?” he said laughing
“Not in a bad way of course you don’t seem like the type to be singing in front of a crowd,” I said shaking my head 
“Well, I suppose you got that right I’m on the drums in the back so the audience can’t really see me anyways.”
“I’m sorry I’m not trying to make fun of you I just got caught off guard, does your band have a name?”
“Sm- Queen,” he said shaking his head.
“I like the name Queen, are you playing soon I would like to see what I’m missing out on.”
“We’re actually recording our first album right now, the recording place is not too far from here about a block or two further down. So we’re going on a small break until we’re done with the album but I believe the next one is in three weeks.”
“I’ll keep an eye out for it then.” You said sipping your coffee
“Actually I was hoping to see you earlier than that.”
You immediately choked on your coffee, making a scene by coughing into your napkin.
“That wasn’t the response I had hoped for,” he said passing you his napkin so you can wipe your tears with.
“Oh, I’m so sorry I wasn’t trying to be mean I just- well I would like to see you again as well.”
“Really?,” He said smiling, and you swear you could melt from his smile alone.
“Yes, of course.” You smiled back.
He then prompted to drink his cup of tea until it was finished and left money on the table.
“Great then I’m going to leave before I can mess up this perfect first moment. By any chance do you have a pen on you?”
You shook your head yes and looked through your bag handing it to him.
“This is my number, we’re recording until 6 today so anytime after that call me and I’d love to talk to you more.”
You felt your head spinning with how fast he was talking and moving.
He plucked your hand up and gave you a small kiss on it again, he then walked to the door before saying.
“Promise me you’ll call me,” he told you while he grabbed the door handle.
“I promise I’ll call you,” you said softly
“Perfect,” he said while he winked at you and then left.
He gave you one last look through the window and then left, once he was out of view Dayla came to the table.
“Who was that?” she said, collecting her tip that Roger left her.
“His name is Roger. I met him today.”
“Today! You’re joking.”
“I swear Dayla I met him minutes before coming here?”
“He can be a psychopath! And here you are chatting with him after knowing him for 30 minutes.”
That stopped you.
“He is not a psycho he was so nice and funny, and did you see how hot he is Day?”
“Yeah well murderers can be funny and hot.”
“Do you really think he’s a murderer?” you asked in a exsperated way.
“No, I was just kidding he is really hot and besides who would want to murder you?” Dayla said as she wiggled her eyebrows.
“Wow that doesn’t really make me feel better.”
She stood up grabbing Roger’s empty cup “Girl you know I was just playing I say go for it and have fun, anyone would be lucky to have you.” she bumped your shoulder with her hip and left.
Your mind felt overwhelmed with all the excitement from today you even almost forgot that you had some work orders to do you tried to push Roger from your mind as you grabbed your journal and sketchbook from your bag. You looked back at your notes reading on what your client wanted: a floor-length gown but not something too flashy something to show off their arms and their cleavage. Perfect. You spent your time designing the gown having fun with it since you probably wouldn’t have another gown piece for months. After finishing you went on to your smaller orders feeling yourself getting into the groove of things.
Looking up from your sketch you noticed how dark it got outside and how empty it now was in the cafe. You decided to call it a day, well that was until you go home, and then you would start making the gown. You noticed the clock when you were telling Dayla good night. 6:58 Damn time really flew by and then you remembered the number you had in your bag.
The walk home went by to fast your thoughts about what you would say to Roger once you called made you nervous to the point that your keys kept slipping from your hands as you were trying to open the door to your apartment. 
You purposely threw your jacket on the phone hook so you didn’t have to see it and went to the bathroom you looked at your appearance baggy jeans, an oversize t-shirt that you also slept in, hair a mess, and no makeup. You shook your head, no way Roger was being serious about you calling him he was so much more put together and out of your league completely. You could just imagine all the beautiful women that he has been with, no way you could compare. You sighed walking out the bathroom ready to get started on your order. You grabbed the different fabrics you needed for making the gown and when you went to grab your sketchbook Roger’s number fell and slowly fluttered down to the floor like it was taunting you. You stared at the paper hard groaning when you opened it reading that he wrote “Roger <3” following his number. You did promise him you would call…
Your heartbeat picked up when you approached the phone dialing each number slowly wishing a catastrophic event would happen and end the world so you didn’t have to finish dialing. It didn’t happen. You put the phone to your ear and hear the first ring, and then the second. This was stupid calling him in the first place you removed the phone from your ear and were half a second away from hanging up when you heard “Hello?”
Shit.
You couldn’t just hang up now. 
“Hello, is this Roger?”
“It took you long enough.”

Alright so, here’s how things are gonna work.
First off, welcome to this side blog. Since it won’t be jolly fun fandom content and will be a little more personal I decided to separate my health and writing journey from my fandom stuff, although all my fandom content will still be linked on my main blog here.
(I write Izuocha/bnha content which isn’t super popular so if you’re not here for that then yeah, I don’t blame you. But if you are I have a link to our discord and community content pinned so def check it out if you’re interested.)
Secondly, you guys will hear details about stuff relating to my health like what kinds of things affect my disorder based on the tests some doctors are ordering, how I’m trying to improve my diet and activity, and routines and goals I’m attempting for myself. I am underweight, and that’s something I’m going to be talking a bit about, so if that’s triggering following this blog might not be the best thing for you. Details under the cut.
So, what kind of disorder do I have and why did I decide to make a health journey blog? My disorder is called idiopathic hypersomnia. Basically what that means is that when my disorder is acting up (based on factors like stress especially or my generalized anxiety rearing its ugly head) I have the capacity to sleep. And sleep and sleep and sleep and sleep. My longest recorded uninterrupted “sleep-attack” was 26 hours long and ever since I caught Covid in January, my body had been slowly growing weaker to the point I was starting to develop atrophy. I’ve had this ten years and my neurologist suspects inactive cells from mononucleosis I caught at 14 was the cause, because other IH patients have linked their sleeping problems to a case of mono or have had it at some point in their lives.
This disease stole many years and many things I’ve looked forward to from me. I lost friends and experiences and failed so many college classes I had to drop out.
I’ve decided I’m taking them back.
It’s not going to be easy. Just as it took ten years to convince myself that my tiredness was something I chose to give into, it took several extra years and many fights with my family to convince them that I had a real actual neurological disorder and that I need help sometimes. My parents and grandmother finally understand that I have to finish college and find a very special boss willing to work around my erratic progress on projects, but the outsiders they married are not as convinced. My grandmother’s husband kicked me out of their house because he wants to be the center of attention and doesn’t like that some days I’m so weak that I needed my grandmother’s help, and my father’s wife thinks I’m a lazy and ungrateful leech who “gets anxiety just being around” me. Both told my father I’ll never be happy so why even bother with me, but my dad is actually striving to understand his own recently-diagnosed PTSD so while we still butt heads he’s understanding that I have to take things day by day because every tiny circumstance affects my disorder.
Now, why did I decide to air all this out? Well, being open about my disorder and how it affects me has helped at least two people that I know of find out that the tiredness they experience isn’t the typical “American work force exhaustion” they were trained to believe is normal. So if I can help even one more, I’ll gladly talk about what this entails and how I deal with it day to day. Another reason is that I’m also one of those big advocates who believes talking candidly about mental health destigmatizes it and sharing ideas can help us grow as people and maybe make it a little easier to deal with.
So now that you know a little bit about me and my disorder, here are my big goals for the next three months provided my university takes pity on me and actually lets me go back.
First up: create routines to train my body to get used to living a full day fully awake. This includes waking up at the same time and going to sleep at the same time. It means getting dressed and going out and doing things, even little things— which I’ll get to in a sec.
Second: I write. I have a novel in limbo and I write fanfics. Writing is a big part of who I am and I’ve written one thing this year, which for a whole six-month stretch is upsetting and disappointing. Today is my reset. In the next 569 days I want to to finish the six stories I have in limbo (except the larger one) and finally reach my goal of posting 200k words in a single year. I wont be hard on myself if I can’t accomplish this because honestly finishing anything in the chaos of my life is going to be a miracle but. There ya go.
Third: go back to freakin college. I don’t care what it takes. Sit down with every official, every lawyer, and every professor it takes to get me back enrolled in classes in the fall.
Fourth: I have several smaller things I have to do, short term goals, stuff like that. I’m gonna create a to do list each day of small tasks I want to get done and while some of these things will be part of my daily routine I am throwing in like one or two things a day that just need to be done. My writing goal will change daily and I’ll keep y’all updated on that with every post I make.
Now, I know what you’re thinking. Dani! That’s so much!! Well, a few months ago I remembered hey!! I basically have a computer in my hand, why make it hard on myself. So I downloaded certain apps to help me out. This isn’t me saying “hey go subscribe to these apps because I said so” it’s just that through a lot of trial and error I’ve come to find that these certain apps work for me and I’ve yet to come across one that has the functionality of everything I need.
Tiimo — so this is an app I found developed by people with autism for people with autism to help them develop good habits and routines. It has preset daily schedules (things like morning routines or nightly routines or work routines) and an internal alarm to let you know when to move on to the next task. I myself have extremely low-level aspergers (to the point where my doctor won’t give me an official diagnosis because I didn’t want people think that *it’s* the reason I have issues with school), so moving from task to task can be difficult sometimes and I also deal with getting distracted. This widget also appears on my home screen so I know what I have to do at a glance. You can program in weekly and daily tasks to fully customize your schedule, which is fantastic for someone like me who wants to for example rotate chores. This is hopefully going to help me get my body in the habit of adjusting to routines and transitioning from one task to another, as well as getting important things done responsibly.
Promptly Journals — I’ve been told for a while that journaling is helpful mentally to kind of recenter yourself, so a bit ago I downloaded several journal apps to add to my morning routine. Now some will prefer more creatively free journals, but I prefer this one that gives me small prompts I can do in a short amount of time that just allows me to get my thoughts down. I can even add pictures at the bottom that go with the theme! I’m scared I’ll run out of prompts eventually lol but until then this app works very well for my needs.
Stretchingexercise — Now idk if it’s from lack of sleep from my disorder, the position I sleep in when I do sleep, all the physical labor I’ve had to do in the past couple weeks, my medicine, or w h a t but I suffer from body aches like no one would believe. I know stretching is supposed to help with that, so I downloaded this app to help me do non-demanding physical activity that wakes me up in the mornings and helps relieve pain so I don’t keep having to take pain relievers. This one has different plans for things like muscle tension, back pain, warm ups— and it also gives you rudimentary weight updates (I’m underweight lololol so we’re looking to fix that) or plan updates. It’s worked really well for me so far and gives you animations and descriptions of the workouts (some taken from yoga) as well as timed breaks and a narrated guide. It’s been pretty helpful in temporary relief and if nothing else gets my blood flowing in the mornings.
Widgetsmith Step counter — in addition to the stretching thing one thing my doctor and I discussed that helps with the sedentary lifestyle is simply walking. I’ve needed so bad to relieve my stamina and reverse the atrophy, and walks have been stellar for that. Now I live in the New Orleans area so humidity and heat force me to go at the crack of Dawn, but honestly my weenie dachshund Charlie really enjoys our time out so he goes with me! The CDC recommends 10,000 steps a day which seems like a lot and it is if you don’t get out much. But this gives me an excuse to get dressed and do the hygienic thing and help Charlie be healthy too, as well as give me time for brainstorming because we walk in a truly beautiful area. I’m sure everyone installed widgetsmith with the last iOS update (Apple users anyway) and while at first the step counter was just interesting I’ve since come to rely on it! We do our 5000 in the morning, which of course is half, and I find that other things I do throughout the day typically drive the counter higher. Anything leftover can easily be accomplished by an evening walk in our neighborhood. Now the caveat is that I have to remote have my phone in my pocket because I don’t own a watch or anything fancy lol, but honestly I need to keep it on me anyway so that serves as a good reminder.
Todoist — this one is my FAVORITE. Ever since I’ve decided that I have trouble keeping track of things I need to do and small stuff I need to keep in mind and appointments, etc, I decided to find a list app. This is the one I found that absolutely helps me for everything from my list of room supplies I need to buy, to my reading list, to general tasks I have coming up I need to complete. And its widget functionality keeps it right on my Home Screen! More organized individuals can just use tiimo, but I’m definitely not one of those individuals so this app is sorely needed and appreciated.
And of course, I know building habits the first few weeks is HARD. So for days my body doesn’t respond to my alarms, I have a checklist of the key things I have to do to keep my life as functional as possible.
So that’s that on that. I’m going to try to keep writing updates and my daily goals in a post in the morning, and reblog what I accomplished in the evening. It’s gonna be tough. But I’m thinking if I can start small I’ll be able to build my stamina enough to return to college and be successful when I do. I hope that anyone watching this journey draws some kind of meaning or inspiration from it. And you guys can even follow along if y’all want! Especially for writers or people trying to get healthier. I can’t promise what works for me will work for you (and honestly I expect things to change especially if I get accepted into college again) but hey, I figure it’s worth a shot.
I hope you guys enjoy watching this journey, if nothing else I hope it’s entertaining. And maybe it’ll be successful. I do know that I’m just gonna try for it, and hope it works out.

An MC that has really bad anxiety but likes hanging out in Levi’s room cause all the ocean stuff calms them and they usually have a sparkly narwhal named Sparkle.(don’t judge me I’m terrible at names) How do the brothers, especially Levi, react? If that’s okay... mainly asking for self indulgence.
Completely okay request, anon.  Self-indulgence is the entire point of fandom.
Dunno how you find oceans calming though, anon.  I was raised on an island, and studied sea life as one of my ‘phases’ in high school. That shit’s frightening.
Lucifer
Your mental health is a concern for Lucifer.  The Devildom can be overwhelming for humans already, but that you have an additional struggle to face means he has to be extra cautious.  You may not know it, but he begins strict scheduling and routines to make sure that there’s nothing surprising out there to discomfort you.  He makes sure that his brothers can’t overwhelm you with requests to take you out by giving them the equivalent to a signup sheet to determine when and where they take you out.
No, not all of them can take you out on the same day.  No, they cannot take you anywhere with large crowds unless you specifically request it.  And schooling and tutoring?  They better pitch in to help you study.
If you require any medication, he’ll have it ordered and brought down from the human world immediately.  It will always be filled and delivered in a timely manner to you.
Surprisingly, all the brothers are on board with this arrangement.  It’s a good mix of their own worries for your comfort as well as their absolute fear of Lucifer whose made it quite clear that he will NOT tolerate anything that might induce an anxiety attack, or heavens help them, a panic attack.
Mammon
He’s your first man, and you’re responsibility.  The fact that you find comfort in Levi and his room is a bit of a blow to his ego, but that hardly stops him from spending all the time he can with you.
He’s boisterous however, and he has to be constantly reminded to shut up or at least lower his voice.  He’ll absolutely do it if you ask, but he tends to give Levi lip before finally following orders.
He’ll bring you gifts, little things you might like.  Narwhal themed items such as bracelets, and keychains, and pencils.  Anything he nick into a pocket, or buy for real cheap.  “Look, I found Sparkle a new friend!”
Don’t ask him how he acquired them.  He’s a terrible liar.
Leviathan
Anxiety, insecurity, self-doubt—these are all things Levi knows better than anyone else.  He can recognize discomfort immediately.  While he has his own priorities list of games and shows to watch, that sometimes train tracks his attention away from you, he is otherwise pretty perceptive to your feelings.
The fact that you find Levi and his room to be your haven means more to Levi than you can possibly know. It means you like his company. For Levi, that acceptance means so much to him.  And he’ll go out of his way to assist you.
You can have anywhere you’d like to sit.  He’ll rearrange the room.  You want to be by the tank?  Go for it. You want to be in the tub?  Have it.  You want to be cuddled into his side while he plays video games?  Please do.  Are you hungry?  Here’s his snack stash.  Are you bored?  What do you want to play?  What do you want to watch?
The only thing he doesn’t like about your stay in his room is the invasion of his brothers.  His room has seen more traffic during your year’s stay than it has in half a century.  And all to vie for your attentions.
Sparkle has a special shrine area dedicated to them beside the tank.  Even if you never let Sparkle out of your arms, the shrine remains there for you, so that you know you are welcome into this space.
Satan
Satan wants to be your number one confidant.  You may like Levi’s room for comfort, but any concerns you may have, any advise you may need, Satan’s there to give the assist.  If you’re struggling in a subject, with a paper, or a test, he can be your tutor. If you are having any trouble with the brothers, he’ll handle speaking with them.  (And he promises to be kind about it.  For the start anyway.  He makes no promises about what will happen if they don’t listen the first time.)
He will read books on anxiety, and provide you with things to help you with it.  Journaling, breathing techniques, etc.  He knows that anxiety isn’t something that will ever go away, but it can be managed.  Hopefully enough so it doesn’t bother you so much that you feel the need to hide in Levi’s room.
He comes by the room with teas and biscuits to sit and speak with you awhile, but he likes to invite you out of the house once in awhile to see the Devildom.  He’s reliable, and well organized to make any outing the least stressful experience you can imagine.
Asmodeus
He will never understand the appeal of Levi.  The room, he could give a pass on, possibly.  In an effort to get you back into feeling comfortable in your own room, Asmo begins a redecoration effort of your room to better mimic that of Levi’s room.
But with less paraphernalia.
He’s a little over the top, as Asmo is wont to do, but his heart’s in the right place.  He’s constantly coming back with little additions, or he takes down your curtains to sew on patches and frills, etc.  You have a specific style in mind?  He’s happy to abide by it.
He comes to you with magazines filled with home décor and ideas.  If you’re worried about the cost, don’t—get everything you want, no holds barred. Lucifer’s footing the bill.
Beelzebub
Levi’s terrible about eating properly, eating regularly and eating proper meals.  As such, Beel has taken it upon himself to start feeding you properly.  He may be a bottomless pit himself, but he knows the importance of three meals a day for everyone else.
He comes by frequently to Levi’s room with a tray or two, and he does his best not eat some of it on his way up the stairs.  Though he can’t always help himself, much to Levi’s dismay.  (Beel never eats from your tray.)
He likes to stay and eat alongside you, a stoic companion who has no real understanding of what Levi is playing or watching, but just enjoys the company of you and his brother.
Because Lucifer can’t really separate Beel from Belphie without inciting a riot from the twins, Beel will often come with a rather tired Belphie to sit on the other side of you, essentially flanking you for maximum cuddle comfort.
Belphegor
No one knows comfortable the way Belphie does.  Blankets, pillows, he brings them along.  If you’ll let him, he’d bring enough to build a fort.  But Levi’s very much against the idea as it tends to take up all the space in his room that he needs to comfortably layback and play in.
Belphie also makes it a point to bring things in the colors that best soothe you.  Deep and subdued teals.  If he can get something a wave pattern on it, it’s all yours.
He spends most of his time with you sleeping, generally leaning on you or laying curled around you. If you lay back with him, he’ll absolutely make use of you as a body pillow, much to the protest of Levi who will loudly complain that in his room, this is absolutely unfair and unacceptable.
Let Levi lay on your other side and he might reconsider.  Just keep in mind that Belphie doesn’t like to share and so a tug of war may begin between the two avatars.

Do you have any advice for someone who’s really struggling to study? I’m really stressed and demotivated, and I can’t seem to sit down and just study. In my country we only have virtual classes so maybe It has something to do with that, it’s really sad that it’s my first college year and I haven’t attended one single face to face class. Anyway, If you have any kind words I would really appreciate it. Love your blog btw <3
Hey! Thank you for this! And I’m very sorry you feel that way...just know you’re not alone, I think we’re all a bit ‘what’s the point’ rn, and for students (and teachers) this period must suck especially hard. I don’t know exactly what can work for you, but here are a few things that come to mind. I hope you can find something useful!
Have habits and routines. Our days are all over the place, which is not good for motivation or mental health. Instead of procrastinating, feeling guilty, working in a hurry and then feeling even worse, decide on a schedule that works for you. Don’t be too hard on yourself - give it as much time as you need to do the work well, and devote the rest of your day to stuff that makes you feel accomplished and serene (maybe learn or practice a non-screen skill, such as cooking or painting?).
And: at risk of sounding like a yoga mom, don’t forget about your body. Very often stuff like bad mood or exhaustion has physical, not mental, causes. Try to make time for sport - dancing in your underwear, running outside, walking the dog, online pilates, a 7-minute app - and, if you can, a few minutes of meditation, singing or breathing exercises every day. I’d recommend the ‘cardiac coherence’ stuff - lasts about 3 minutes, makes you feel really great. And: remember to stretch, smile and drink water throughout the day. If possible, go outside or have plants and flowers around you.
When it comes to habit, try to understand what kind of person you are and react accordingly. Some people work best when they change cold turkey (new day, new me), while for others it’s better to adjust things more slowly (for instance by moving the alarm clock forward five minutes every week or two). If you’re the second type, a method like Pomodoro could work well to organize your work schedule. 
Have pretty things. Try switching to ink or coloured pens, have nice stationery, organize your Word documents so they’re neat and tidy, use candles, plants, ‘good mood’ incense - whatever makes you feel your work has meaning and worth.
Try background music. Some people work better with noise, and you can find all kind of noises online, from stations to coffee shops to purring cats. Others like classical music. For me, what works is video game music, which is designed to keep you alert and focused while being unobtrusive.
Try to keep your workspace as similar as possible to a ‘real’ workspace. No stack of dirty mugs and plates, no abandoned pajama bottoms. If you can manage it, start your day as if you were actually going outside - dress for actual human company, put on make-up if you like to - and remember to prepare your desk the night before: textbooks, charged laptop, notebooks, water bottle, possibly a diary or a motivational quote or anything you find useful.
If it helps, study with friends or classmates. Have video meetings, chats or shared Google docs and work together. Rant with people who’re going through the same thing, but also find a way to help one another. If you live with flatmates or family members, maybe you can find a moment to work together on your separate things? Dad does admin, mom prepares a work presentation, you do your homework and that’s ‘work time’ for everyone?
Divide your tasks. Make clear lists of what you have to do - as detailed as possible (not: shakespeare essay, but: 1. read book, 2. write essay, 2b. introduction and so on) and pay attention to when the stuff is due, either writing it down in agendas or post-its or creating alerts on your phone. Some people also like the square of doom (you know, that ‘important + urgent’, ‘important + non urgent’ thingy).  
Keep track of what you’re doing if you find it helps you. There are good apps for this, or you can use a nice journal or an Excel sheet. Track whatever you want - minutes of study, words learned, tasks accomplished...a favourite of mine is ‘a time logger’, which can track your entire day. When I was in uni, it made me realize I was working a lot more than I thought, and reaching daily goals kept me motivated.
Rethink your internet consumption, especially news, TV shows and social media. Try having periods where you go off-screen whenever you need a break. Stuff like, ‘no TV before 6 pm’ or ‘no tumblr on weekdays’ can automatically make you a lot less stressed and a lot more productive. 
You can also decide to modify the way you engage with these things. For instance, if your studies involve a language, you could watch only TV shows in [language], or turn on [language] subtitles, or you could switch to Buzzfeed [country]. If you like IG, pinterest or tumblr, try having a separate ‘weekday’ account which is about healthy escapism and/or accountability: landscapes and poetry instead of fandom content, or a personal blog about your day - use the right tags and connect with others who’re going through the same thing.    
Imagine you’re teaching someone. I’m guessing you’re passionate about your subject, so turn your study sessions into imaginary conversations. Teaching a lesson (or making a speech) is often the best way to see what you understand, what you need to work on, and what you’re interested in learning more about.
Websites like b-ok can help you find books about your subject (or not) - possibly stuff you’re not actually compelled to read, but which sounds interesting nonetheless. Broaden your horizon, discover different stuff, and sooner or later you’ll find yourself making connections between the exciting stuff you’re basically reading for fun and the actual subject you’re studying.
And: remember why you’re studying this. What are you passionate about? Why did you fall in love with your subject? Why are you studying it? Sometimes we have to endure a few boring classes to get to the good part, and that’s okay.
And finally: visualize the future. The world will get better, and at some point you’ll be glad you’ve spent a few (or many) hard and boring hours getting your degree. What are you going to do after this? Make a ‘future’ board, write a fake Wikipedia article about yourself, give a Nobel or graduation speech, give a pep talk to your (imaginary) future children about the hardships you faced on Zoom and how you overcame them to become the mom they know and love. Whatever works, no matter how ridiculous or narcissistic or far-fetched is a good thing!
I hope this helps! Remember to remain calm and positive, and talk to yourself as if you were talking to a child or a best friend. Less You suck and the world is going to end and more Yes, you didn’t do great today, but we can always do better tomorrow, it’s okay to have an off day! Uni is hard enough under any circumstances, and right now...do your best and resist the bait of dark thoughts: we will get through this, and everything will be alright. It’s how it works.

25 more things I learned during a global pandemic from your Local Teenage Train wreck :) (Pt. 2)
1. Gaining weight is okay. Losing weight is okay. Bodies fluctuate and are inconsistent. Just make sure that you’re trying your best to be healthy, whatever that means for you. 
2. School is hard, especially during a global. freaking. pandemic. Don’t beat yourself up if it’s harder to get up in the morning or your grades aren’t as high as they usually are. It’s hard right now. 
3. You’re mental health comes above all. School, responsibilities, and personal projects are not worth your time if it’s affecting your mental health. If your gut is telling you to take a break, take a break!
4. If you feel lonely, get a plant to keep in your room. Do some research as to that plants do best with the type of lighting in your room, and figure out some basic care instructions. Have someone to take care of besides yourself. Name your plants, and take care of them. 
5. Even if you’re not good at writing, I suggest you keep a journal during this time. It kept me sane over the summer, and even though I eventually stopped because of limited time with school starting back up, it helped to keep me sane in the worst of the pandemic. 
6. If you’re spiritual (or even if you’re not) learn how to do shadow work. This isn’t anything that has to be spiritual or done in just one religion. It’s basically giving yourself a chance and a space to be open and honest with yourself and to learn what you might need to work on through writing. If you google it, you can find a more in depth explanation, and prompts to start doing it. You basically give yourself a prompt. They can be questions like “What’s the biggest lie you’ve told someone else or yourself?” or they can be a little less heavy like “What are five non physical things that you genuinely like about yourself?”. This can be pretty heavy, and can dig up some unwanted emotions, but that’s the whole point; to deal with the emotions you may have been repressing and letting fester inside of you. 
7. On days when you’re not feeling well mentally, take a break. It’s okay to drop everything and get an extra hour of sleep, read, or do something else to make yourself feel better.
8. After hard days, I know the last thing you want to do is get up and continue on, but here are some ways to do it:
- lay out an outfit that’s put together, but not as over the top. No sweat pants or crappy clothes, but it doesn’t have to be your usual put together outfits with a full face of makeup. A nice crewneck and a nice pair of black athletic leggings can go a long way. 
-wear your comfort jewelry. I wear my beaded necklace that I bought for myself,  the silver ring my grandma gave me and the gold cross ring that my mom gave to me when I got confirmed. 
-eat breakfast. A handful of cereal will do. Anything. But eat something. I like to make oatmeal. It sounds boring but if you make it right, it tastes just perfect for mornings when you don’t feel hungry but know inside that you are. Recipe is next on the list :)
-go to school. I know you want to lay in bed. I know the last place you want to be is a crowded building full of pubescent teens that aren’t nice, but go. Go to learn. Go to absorb knowledge like a sponge, and don’t worry if you fail and lose some of the water, because you can always soak it up later. 
-if you have practice, rehearsal, a game, whatever, be gentle on yourself. Today might not be your best day physically, because the brain controls everything. Forgive yourself if you can’t land that double pirouette, get to the high note, or make that assist. You’re abilities are stagnant, and they’re going to change depending on how you feel
-When you get home, turn off your phone. Friends, social media, etc. can wait. Set a timer for one hour. Do work for just that hour. When the timer rings, finish what you were doing and then stop. Now have a 20 minute break and do something that’s not screen related. Read a book, draw something; heck, stare at the wall for 20 minutes and space out. When the timer rings, do another hour and repeat the same process until it’s all done. 
-have a playlist you listen to to heal you. Sad boi hours are ok, just make sure to have a playlist of songs that get you moving again. 
-Sleep. Even if that means putting off work for tomorrow. It’s ok. You really need it. 
9. Oatmeal seems gross until you know how to prepare it. When you do, it’s revolutionary. It’s a high volume, low calorie food, so you’ll stay full for a while without overeating, all while consuming less calories than you would with a traditional breakfast cereal. 
The right way to make it: 
-measure out half a cup of old fashioned oats. Not steel cut. Those aren’t as good. 
-MOST IMPORTANT STEP: add half a cup of water and half a cup of milk of your choice. I personally like almond milk because it’s kind of sweet already even when it’s unsweetened. 
-SECOND MOST IMPORTANT STEP: add a pinch of salt, a sprinkle of cinnamon, and allspice, and a teaspoon or two of maple syrup. This is what makes it taste palatable. It’s less sugar than store-bought, and tastes amazing. 
-Microwave that shit for one minute and stir. It should look kind of lumpy, but not a ton. Then, put another minute on. Stir at every half increment. (After 30 seconds, every 15 seconds, and then every 7) This is so it doesn’t boil over. Then, take it out, stir it one last time, and let it sit for a second. 
-Wash up some berries to put in it. I love blueberries and or blackberries. 
perfect oatmeal every. single. time. Feel free to add more toppings like nuts or if you wanna treat yourself chocolate or substitute the spices, but this is honestly one of my favorite breakfasts that keeps me full throughout the day. 
10. Learn a new language. Yes, Duolingo is annoying, but do it. Find one that you’ll like to learn and that’s easy for you. Try them on like old clothes and find one that fits just right. For me, it’s French. Expose yourself to that language. Listen to music, read books (or try to) and watch movies with subtitles. Soon enough, you’ll be eager to learn more. 
11. Learn how to use notion.com. It’s super amazing. You can literally keep track of your entire life there. It’s pretty fun to use as well. I made schedules for each day after school, a reading log, a want to read list, a personal habit tracker, etc, and they’re all extremely helpful. 
12. Make a list of things you weren’t allowed to do as a kid and do one every day. Heal your inner child by finally itching the spot that may not have been scratched for years. 
13. Learn how to make origami stars. They’re really easy, and I can’t recommend Maqaroon’s (Joanna’s) video on how to make them enough. Once you’ve got it down, get yourself a nice big jar and write down things you’re grateful for on the slips of paper you’re going to fold. Fill up your gratitude jar and make a wish once it’s full. It will come true. 
14. Have 30 minutes a day to put your phone down and read. Yes. You will have to sacrifice something to do this, but it’s so important and good for not only information retention and learning, but for mental health as well. Even if you have to get up half an hour earlier to do it, it’s worth it. 
15. It’s okay to be alone, but learn to recognize the difference between alone and lonely. If you’re lonely, here are some things to do:
-write a letter to a friend. It’s something nice you can do for yourself and others, and it’s not feeding into the toxic instant reply culture that we live in
-read a book or watch a show that gets you to connect with the characters, even if that means (I've said it before and I’ll say it again) rereading a favorite ya series or binging atla for the fiftieth time. It’s good for the soul.
-take a walk and smile at the people you see coming past. Again, it’s good for the soul. 
-go to the coffee shop and ask the barista to make you a drink that tastes like “_____” (insert whatever you want there. It could be a color, song, feeling, etc.) It’s weird and uncomfortable, but it gives you a conversation starter and 9.9 times out of 10 a really good drink. (Also helpful for when you think the barrista’s cute)
-Reading in general. It opens up so many new worlds with the turn of a page. 
16. Monitor your food intake. No, don’t restrict your food intake, monitor it. This means first seeing exactly what your putting in your body and altering it to gradually improve to a clean diet. Humans weren’t built to process all the preservatives, additives and sugars found in most processed food (cereals, chips, anything in a foil bag that’s either really sweet or really salty) and it’s important to cut down and if possible eliminate as much as you can of it out of your diet. Food is fuel, and you truly are what you eat. You’ll notice that by increasing your vegetable intake, reducing white processed sugars and carbs*, and cutting out sodas/extra sugars, that you’ll feel better. This isn’t a weight loss thing, but you may start to trim down a little bit once you go more intense with it. You don’t have to eliminate anything fully, and please enjoy your favorite “bad” foods! Everything in moderation is perfect! Just make sure that you’re getting the good stuff in there too! *Side note, do NOT cut out carbs! See my post on how I’m losing weight to get more into depth on this. 
17. Buy fresh flowers for yourself. Who says that you have to wait for someone else? That’s completely false, and you should totally treat yourself to a nice bouquet on occasion, especially in the dead of winter. 
18. The whole idea of self love is flawed. Loving yourself has nothing to do with the way you look. Loving yourself comes with genuinely loving your life. If you don't love the way you’re living, change it. Make and set goals. Fail at achieving those goals. Get back up and try again until you finally get it, but make sure that whatever you’re doing, you’re doing to love the life you live. Life doesn’t live you. You live life.
19. Have candles and incense. (Or a diffuser if you’re not allowed to burn stuff) Making your environment smell good makes a huge difference
20. Once you turn 18, get a tattoo. It doesn’t have to mean anything. Pick something small and get it behind your ear, on your ankle, wrist, fingers, whatever. You’ll love having the memory when your old. 
21. Realize your worth. We often put ourselves down because we think that valuing ourselves is equivalent to selfishness. It’s not. At all. You are just as important as everyone else. Your voice matters too. 
22. Go to art museums
23. Go to free concerts in the park
24. Expose yourself to new art, ideas, and literature
25. Life is gonna suck sometimes. It’s just how it is. That doesn’t mean a bad day’s gonna last forever. As cheesy as it is, keep your head up :)

12. On Your Side
Decided to publish what I had worked on before my hiatus, mainly for Tina and nem, as a Xmas thing. Ion celebrate that shit, happy holidays or whatever. I was hoping to have completed the story by now, but with my break for mental health, I guess it's either pushed back or gonna be abandoned. “Even through the darkest phase

Here beneath my skin…” Grace let the music play in the background as she tried to do all of the things suggested to her by her “spiritual advisor,” Sunny, whenever she moved into the place. She was doing more drawing - mostly sketches of carnage and rage. She was journaling a lot, mostly in the form of a narrative told by a hypothetical fictional character, because admitting to the things that she was doing on paper was a huge no-no, so she simply projected her life through her journaling character, The Saint, whom would never be referred to by name in any of the entries. In this particular one, The Saint was contemplating calling The Shadow. What would the conversation even be like? He would tell her how bad she was for being mad at him. She would tell him that she only hurt bad people, but he hurt a friend… he hurt her. That was different. So different. But she MISSED him.
She had began to sketch him. She was more of a doodler/drew cartoons and comics on her phone and stuff… but she was shut up in this place for hours at a time and hadn’t really used a pencil and a sketch book seriously in a while. Then, it got away from her. After a few days, she had almost filled up a sketch book with drawings of Simon. She winced when she thought of his name. She had been avoiding speaking it and thinking it. “And constant craving has always been…” She stared at the phone, then changed the track. The last thing she needed was to think about craving, of all things…
Now, that the phone was in her hand, she glanced around, feeling that paranoia that she had since she left home. Nobody was watching her here, but she felt obligated to check, anyway, and upon verifying what she already knew - that nobody was fucking watching her - she went to visit his social media. Private? Since when? She checked another. Same thing. A third, same fucking thing! “UGH!!!” She threw her phone onto the couch and went to go chop wood. She didn’t really like to chop wood, but it did make her feel better to swing a tool and see destruction come out of it.

Jalicia Barrett was not the same type of watch as Grace was. She obviously wasn’t as upscale as Grace, so she wound up having much to do that was necessary, unlike Grace’s schedule of playing a typical woman. Now, to say that Jalicia was typical would be a stretch of the imagination, as Simon knew that none of Grace’s people were that and she had possibly an unreasonable amount of tiger items, but she was closer to an average person than Grace was.
She went to Seattle University, but hadn't selected a major. She was still doing general studies after taking a few years to get her GED (She began trying at 16 and only successfully received it less than a year ago), so.. a freshman in college, which wasn't bad. She was 19. She worked on campus and seemed to have other odd jobs, like being a delivery driver or personal cab, and stuff at that Infinity Foundation place.
She didn’t have rich parents. From what Simon was able to find, she was never reunited with them, whoever they were. If they had lived in Seattle when she was taken, there was nothing on file to indicate that she was reported missing. Of course… he didn’t know what her real name was. The name Jalicia Barrett only became a name for her in the year after Grace left the mental institution. He knew that was likely connected.
Maybe… she wound up in the system after Grace touched base with them? At any rate… whoever the girl who was brought into trafficking had been, she was now Jalicia Barrett, a girl who began existing when she was 13 or 14 and obviously probably didn’t know her DOB either, as it was on record as the day that her name was given, her documents were created all around the same time, so she had to either have been a baby whenever she was taken, or simply never knew her personal information like birth date and full name.
BUT, she did have prints on file, so she probably had birth records that could be matched to them somewhere. He didn’t know if he wanted to get into that… or if she hadn’t done so herself and simply decided that life was easier being the person that she knew herself to be now. He certainly couldn’t imagine separating from his loved ones and then not finding them for a decade or so and then just… trying to pretend that they were family after all or something. She had the family she wanted… Well… she lost one. He felt bad for her. It wasn’t the same, but whenever he lost Grace, he felt like his world collapsed. To even pretend to understand how this woman must feel losing her life partner after years of being together, he wouldn’t insult her like that. Instead, he looked into the details surrounding that. Whatever happened to that investigation?
He’d provided an alibi for them and the police never spoke with him again. He’d done his best playing ignorant and pretending that everything was casual. Whenever they asked him about Heath, he said that he didn’t know Heath. “I’ve only met him once and he didn’t show up to the gathering… Is he alright?” They didn’t answer, just wished him a good day.
Now, he was looking through their paperwork and he was sure that he might find something interesting, if not useful. Simon had no idea what he was looking for with these other people. Something that led him back to Grace’s trail, and he had to figure out how they worked to even presume that…
Here’s the thing… Simon wasn’t going to write himself off as wrong or going too far. For crying out loud, the things that these people did, and they felt justified in their reasonings, so he wasn’t going to allow himself to feel bad. Grace might need him, and Xander was keeping her away from him. He cursed himself over that gun, though. However, IF she would have just let him explain that he only had it to keep Xander from getting it! He didn’t know what to think when he holstered it, but it wasn’t for her! Why would he hurt her? He scanned through paperwork, trying to take his mind off of Grace’s lack of faith in him and then, he was sure that he found what he needed. If not; he’d found something interesting. “Huh.”

Grace called Sunny for more tips. She was doing everything that she told her to, and reading all these books and articles, ordering all sorts of holistic woo woo shit, and trying SO HARD just to not lose it out there… Sunny was always a mood lifter for her though. They would talk for however long, laugh, joke, sometimes get entirely too serious and cry… they hadn’t done this in a long time, but Grace had been calling her more frequently lately and, well… it was necessary for her to be available.
“It’s like… I don’t want to use this word lightly, and I especially can’t tell Xan, but I feel like I’m like… addicted… Does that sound stupid?”
“Xander doesn’t own the word addicted, Grace. He’s struggled with a few drugs over the years, but one of the reasons is because he’s sick. Some people can try things and never really become addicted to them because those things didn’t appeal to them in that way. This dude appealed to you in a way that your body wasn’t used to. He got into your mind, and most likely changed the chemical balance. Affected your hormones and shit, only to find that he wasn’t what you thought and now your chemicals gotta try to balance back out without his influence, so no, it doesn’t sound stupid. Perhaps melodramatic, but I don’t know. You could be addicted to the way that he made you feel. Going through dick withdrawals is a struggle that people don’t give enough credence, too.”
Grace snorted. “I’m… not… going through that. We weren’t like that. I don’t even know if he ever was into me that way? It was like… I don’t know… I never got the feeling that he desired me physically.”
“What feeling did you get?”
“For the most part, that he wanted me around. I don’t know why. He never seemed to be asking anything of me but to let him be near me. He was very good about not entering my personal space, and even when I got comfortable, he still never made any move on me or anything like that. He just seemed to like to be… present.”
“Okay, but what would he be doing when he was present?”
“Sometimes nothing, really. Just looking at me, or listening to me. Sometimes, we were doing our own thing - me reading a book. Him playing video games or writing, or… Idk, working on a cosplay outfit.”
“Girl, on what?”
“He’s a fantasy fanboy before he’s a fantasy writer, so he you know… makes cosplay costumes and stuff for conventions. Whenever he’s not scheduled to be on a panel at one… This is something that I’ve observed, not something that he’s said. He… doesn’t talk about himself a lot. Not at all, come to think about it.”
“Xander makes him out to be a literal serial killer.”
“Xander hates him. What about 808? What does she say? Xan seems to think that he “got to her” or played some kind of mind games or something?”
“Well… she didn’t say anything to me about him, except that he was very talkative and apparently worships you. She was pretty thrown off guard at how comfortable he seemed with being caught and held hostage. She said that he is either the most nonchalant person ever or the craziest fucking person that she’s ever drawn a weapon on, because he acted like they were buddies just chitchatting, and we all know that he knows what we do to people.” Grace didn’t reply. Sunny offered, “Well, whenever I think about the shit that I went through with Xander and how we always seem to find each other in the dark, it's usually in terms of No Angel.”
Grace said, “Beyonce’s No Angel?”
“”Is… Is there another one? Because, if there’s anything AND a Beyonce song, just go ahead and assume that I am only speaking of the Beyonce option.” Grace laughed. Sunny recited, “ I love you even more than who I thought you were before.” Grace held her breath, unsure of what to say to this. Sunny continued, “All I mean to say is that sometimes people aren’t who we initially thought. Sometimes they’re worse. Sometimes they are seriously fucked up. Sometimes, they’re absolute trash… But… you might still love their ass.”
“Damn, Sis… Is this how you feel about Xan? Because those are some hard descriptions.”
“No. Xander is definitely a hot mess, but I was absolutely describing your… thing… over there. Jimony?”
“Simon,” Grace said, trying not to laugh.
“Right. I knew it had “mon” in it.”

Jalicia didn’t know what it was about that station that made her put it on all of the time, but her streaming service generally stayed on an old r&b from the 60s and 70s station, and sometimes 80s and 90s, whenever she was at work. She had a journal with a tiger on the front that she was writing down poetry in, but she could never think of titles for any of her work, and she didn’t feel like she was that artistically creative, so she’d title everything, “(Song Title) Plays in the Background,” whether or not the song had any bearing on the poem. Today’s? Let’s Groove Plays in the Background.
Work was a little bit overwhelming, these days, but only because of the things that had nothing to do with it. The fact that she wouldn’t just receive flowers sometimes and have her coworkers wonder why her boyfriend was this thoughtful, but they never saw him. Or the days where she would pout about being broke and having to pack a stupid sandwich and he would insist on having something sent to her at lunchtime, if he didn’t just make her a different, more fulfilling lunch instead. The way that she would get a text whenever he went on his own lunch break, and it would just be some hilarious video or a new thing that they just HAD to buy. Work was overwhelming, because what she had leaned on every shift was the fact that he’d interrupt it with something nice and that she would leave there and get to see him every day.
Now, she was listening to Earth Wind & Fire, in a gray pantsuit and fooling around on her computer while she waited for something to do. She heard the tone of the doorway and she got up to see if somebody needed help. It was a college bookstore and she was often far overdressed, but all she had aside from her typical attire were the pantsuits she wore when she had to do something other than be casual - like functions and interviews or whatever, so that was what she wore to work.
The O. He looked at her like they were friends or something. A polite smile and warmth in his eyes. She stared him down and reached for her phone. “Hi. Can I just have a moment?” He asked. She texted: The O is here and hit “send” to 747. “It won’t take long, I just wanted to give you something.” The O reached into his bag and Jalicia had already identified four common objects in her immediate surroundings that she would definitely use as a weapon against him if he tried something slick. He handed her an envelope, one of the big yellow ones and she frowned.
“I’m not taking whatever that is. For all I know it’s got anthrax in it.”
He laughed and opened it himself, pulled out the paperwork and handed it to her. “I figured out a better method of tracking people down than Heath had the resources for. I know that Xander is trying his hardest, God help him, but he’s not much on a computer and some of these things are hard to find.” She took the pages and glanced through them. Simon helped her find a certain page, “I’ve guessed that you maybe didn’t know much about this part of the situation that you all walked into. The… X, I suppose you’d call him, was very paranoid that he might be on your list and he hired protection.” He pointed out a few key lines that he had highlighted. “Professional protection, and yet when the time came to protect him, Heath wasn’t shot in the arm, or hell, if they didn’t want him to escape, the leg is an option as well.”
“They killed Heath on purpose,” She said, the wind knocked out of her as she did. She tried to take a seat, but just fell back onto a table and leaned against it, knocking down several books.
“They wanted to send a message and since you all slacked up since then, I’m sure that they think that they did.” She started crying angrily and wiped her face. “Flip to the next page.” Her hands were shaking and she wasn’t sure of what she might see, but she flipped to the next page anyway. “That’s your shooter. Since he was on the job, he confessed to being the one who fired and because Heath was breaking an entering and had no family to intercede for an investigation… the cops seem to be fine with what happened to him, despite the fact that our laws state that a person may not use more force than is necessary given the situation.” She shut her eyes and squeezed out tears, her fists tightly holding onto the phot0 of the man. “Next page are his personal details. Do with it whatever you think is best. I just thought that you would want to know.”
She shivered and cried, “This doesn’t mean that I owe you anything. I didn’t ask you for this and I don’t feel indebted to you for it.”
“Jalicia… I’m on your side. Whatever side Grace is on, that’s where I am. I did this because I want to help.”
“Well… This is the most help you’re getting from me - Xander’s on his way.”
“Then, I’ll be on my way.” He had that polite smile again and she was almost terrified how easily it came to him. He left quite a few minutes before Xander arrived.
She instantly fell apart as soon as she saw him, handing him the papers and explaining to him what he was looking at. She left work and was going to call Grace, but Xander snatched her phone while he was driving. “No, what if he. like, cloned your phone or something?”
“What? This ain’t Person of Interest, Boy. What the fuck are you talking about, Bro? He’s rich but it’s not like he’s Lex Luthor.”
“We can’t chance it. He’d do anything to find out where she is.”
“Give me yours, then.”
“Just hold off. I need to check this dude out. For all we know, Simon is just blowing smoke up our asses to get us to lead him to Grace.”
“The fact that you think it’s more likely that he falsified a bunch of police documents than that he simply sneaked them away is making me wonder about you .”
“I let him get too close to her before, and I’m not doing that again.”
Jalicia snatched her phone back from him and they wrestled for it but, he eventually heard Grace on speaker.
“What is happening on that end?” She asked, laughing a little bit nervously.
“We need to talk about Simon,” Jalicia said.
“I disagree with that sentiment!” Xander said in the background.
There was a pause. Grace was panicking a little bit. Did they know that she was trying to check his pages? That she was trying to see if she could make a temporary account just to try to get to them? How would they know that, Girl?
Jalicia added, “It’s about Heath.” Xander turned red in the face and he shook his head and tried to breathe. “Oh, fuck you, Xan. You left him there to die. The least you could do is chill out while I speak to Grace about this.”
“Whoa… That’s not extremely fair. The Apex protocol is that if somebody is hit, we leave and regroup. We go in with the expectation that if we’re hit, we would slow everyone down and jeopardize everything. So, Xander and I both left him,” Grace said the last statement laced with sadness and guilt.
“He pulled you out and sped away,” Jalicia said.
Xander scoffed and then burst into tears, “I’m glad that you’re telling us how you really feel.” His voice was surprisingly calm, but the ladies knew that hurt him more than anything ever had in this world.
“Tell me what you need to say,” Grace said.
“Simon found Heath’s killer.”
“Simon found a person he alleges is Heath’s killer.”
“He had all of the paperwork to corroborate it. More than Heath has ever collected on any X.”
“He had paperwork on a man who works in security who may have shot Heath dead, but as far as we know is not a bad person. He probably was just on a security job. Somebody broke into the house he was guarding and he shot!”
“WHY DID HE SHOOT HIM IN THE HEAD???” Jalicia squealed. “I’ve been over this myself, before Simon EVER said anything about it, but WHY didn’t they shoot him to survive and answer questions about what is one of the most infamous string of serial murders to ever hit the city? Why would he risk his job to kill someone that way in security, if there wasn’t a reason that Heath needed to be dead?”
“You… you think that the security dude is old Apex?”
“I think that at best, the security dude wanted to kill a person that he didn’t HAVE to kill and he used Heath as a perfect excuse, making him a shitty person, in my opinion, and at worst, he didn’t want us saying anything to anybody, because he knew why we were there!”
“But, we did release what we had on the X. The information is out there now. Nothing was done about it,” Grace added.
“Precisely! Just as nothing was done about this trigger happy buttfuck, even though our laws state that you’re not supposed to kill motherfuckers if you don’t have to!” Jalicia said. She looked at Xander, poked him in the arm and reminded him, “You were the first one to claim you’ll avenge him”
“And you told me to go fuck myself.”
“Emotions were definitely running high, but if you’re looking for the chance to make good on your word, you’ll have to suck it up and just live with the fact that Simon gave us this, like I have to live with the fact that Heath is never fucking coming home!” She got louder than she intended. Xander wiped his tears with the back of his hand, but more just poured out. He nodded, but he was still extremely upset.
“Send me what Simon sent you. I’ll let you know what I decide from there.”
“Thank you, Grace.”
Grace sighed, paused, then said, “Heath would have wanted us to get out, but even if you had driven away and left us all, we wouldn’t have faulted you… That’s the protocol. Heath knew that…”
“Does that make it easier for you?”
“No. But, we shouldn’t make it harder on each other, either…” Jalicia sighed, rolled her eyes and let more tears fall. “I’m sorry, Jalicia. Heath was the first person in the warehouse that I ever cared about. I would trade myself for him, if I could.”
“He’d never let you,” she hung up and reached out for Xander. He accepted her hand. “I was mean to you…”
“You were honest. It just fucking hurts. Heath was the backbone of this family, and everyday he isn’t here, I lose more and more respect and control. He kept me grounded.”
“Doesn’t Sunny do that too?”
“That’s not the same thing.”
“Maybe you don’t let it be. Maybe the reason Heath was your rock was because you thought that you only needed one. That’s what I did, too. I didn’t even realize how much of my life revolved around him until I was just spinning in space, with nothing to pull me back. Why do you think I moved in with your ass?”
“To split rent.”
She gave a resigned shrug, but shook her head, “I thought that it would make things better, if even just to put me in a spot where I could just not think about it and not be alone. I figured I wouldn’t get over it, but that at least I would logically be able to grant myself some peace because you’re there too, and that there would be some type of comfort. Not emotionally. That’s gonna take more time than I even believe that I have left in this world. But… at least I wanted that solid ground to stand on, to be able to say, Heath would want his two favorite people to lean on each other and find some strength in his absence.” Xander sniffled. She finished, “But it didn’t matter, and I don’t even know what to do, because I thought that being around you would guarantee some balance, even if it didn’t truly help… I still have all of my grief, and I’m..” she whimpered, “So tired. And empty. And distant. My closest living friend is sitting right next to me, and I have been so alone…”
Xander pulled the van over, unlatched his seatbelt and hugged her. She wasn’t done. She was so focused on her train of thought that she hadn’t even actually noticed that Xander was hugging her. “Heath was always in my life. Before any other human that I can remember. Like, logically, I know that Grace took care of Todd and Heath took care of me… but… I don’t even remember anybody else until maybe I was 5 or 6. I know he wasn’t the only person around, but in my mind, he was. I have NO frame of reference that doesn’t involve him. He was…” She finally realized both that Xander was already holding her and that she was crying again.
She remembered something. She was 4 or 5, her brain was never good at that part. She wasn’t in school or anything. All of her special days were simply moments and occurrences. This particular occurrence. A boy with light hair, getting hurt really bad by the stewards. Heath covered her eyes and started talking about flowers. He found a new book about them. He’d help her try to read later. The noise of the boy being beaten up was in the background, but at the time, she was too young to pay any attention to it and listen to Heath. So, she listened to Heath and the beating was background noise filtered out. Afterwards, he took her to the side of the building and let her pick flowers for their new friend. The new boy was mean. He was mean to Heath and Grace had to help Heath. Then, he was nice. She looked at Xander’s face and saw that same boy, just as hurt and just as angry as the first day she recalled a memory of him.
“He wasn’t always in mine… but he was the first person who was ever just nice to me for no reason other than to be nice,” Xander said. “There’s nothing that I want more than to punish a person who would take him away from us, but to have Simon, SIMON, give us that…” He was red in the face and shaking his head. “He’s using it to get to Grace, and I just didn’t want to give him that kind of power.”
“Then why didn’t you just say, ‘Hey, lets not tell her where we got the information?’ If you had just sent it to her with X confirmed, instead of fighting me in traffic…”
“You didn’t give me a chance!”
“I just… This ONE thing, then maybe I can move on.” He nodded and buckled back in. “I’ll get to work on the logistics. In case Grace gives us the go ahead, I want to be ready to move as soon as possible.”

Simon pulled his hair up into a high ponytail. He was going to try to get it into a bun, but it had been getting longer and thicker, and while he’d normally just pull the top part into a pony and let the rest hang, but it was windy and he was going to be pretty active, so high ponytail, it was. He had been checking out the X that he gave Jalicia, to see if they were going to make a move on him. He wasn’t positive of the typical turnaround time on an X, so he simply went to watch every night. He wasn’t going to do the car. Dude was in security. He’d probably make him.
Instead, he parked around the block and went to a big tree across the street from the X’s home to post up. He had binoculars and an awkwardly applied hunting tree seat. It wasn’t made for him to be up this high, but he situated it only to have a seat that wasn’t tree bark. He spent the time that he wasn’t watching the house on social media, checking out Sunetra’s pages… which… apparently she went by “Sunny…” which… Simon noted to himself that he had seen a little sun tattoo on Xander, and whenever he came across Sunny’s very tasteful artistic nudes, he saw that she had a little tattoo, as well, on her chest, of an “X.”
Her photos were really nice and she seemed to… possibly be a stripper? He checked a few of her posts and captions. She hashtagged #burlesque in some of them, so maybe not a stripper, but something risque. She was in the fine arts program in college, for dance and had many posts from the Infinity Foundation of her doing dance workshops, yoga, and stuff. She had a lot of witchy posts, too. Simon rolled his eyes, but kept scrolling. Several of her posts were really funny. He noticed a yoga and meditation program that she would be doing at a community center and saved the post.
He watched the X for about a week and a half when he saw the van pull up. In the dark, he couldn’t tell who people were, but two had gotten out and through the binoculars, he could tell that Xander was one and the other was Jalicia. He checked the van. That was an unfamiliar one behind the wheel, but he presumed that it was Sunny or 808, and that he simply couldn’t see them... There was a loud noise and screaming in the house. He turned to see that Jalicia had a knife to a woman’s throat while Xander was escorting the X out, with his hands up. He got him to the van, injected something into his neck and tossed him in. Jalicia unhanded the woman, but appeared to take a bag along with her and the woman ran next door.
Jalicia had taken all the phones with her. The woman had to run next door to call the police. Simon realized that she was probably doing that, and he got out of the tree to get back to his car. If he hurried, he might be able to catch the van!
He went the direction that they had, and when he came to what he thought might be them, he put on a mask of his own, but it was a medical mask, just because that was… possibly not as weird as if he wore like a clown mask or something. They had NOT handled that in the way that he expected. Something told him that they either were rushing or desperate. He wondered why.
But, whenever they pulled the van into an old train station, he parked behind the building and got out of his car. This is fucked up. This is fucked up. This is fucked up. This is fucked up. This is fucked up. This is fucked up. This is fucked up. This is fucked up.  
He could hear their voices, and he followed the sound of them, but didn’t come from the shadows of the building. They were dragging the bag into a field that Simon knew that he had passed several times in his life, but never paid much attention to. Nobody really did. Was this where they buried them? He wondered. He only saw Jalicia and Xander, pulling the body bag with one hand and carrying shovels in their free hands. Where was the driver? He went around the other side of the building and the van was pulling off. Where were THEY going? He couldn’t start his car. Jalicia and Xander weren’t far enough away to not hear him. He groaned and went to look back towards the field. He couldn’t see anything beyond the tall grass, but he used his phone to try to record where they were… maybe he could find it in the daytime. Besides, they were now far enough away that he could start his car without alerting him. He felt like he had enough.
Simon drove home, wary of a van behind him for a portion of the way. He took some loops and turnarounds that he wouldn’t usually take before he was comfortable that they weren’t following him and it wasn’t the van… but after he got home, he noticed at the bottom of the hill a van, and it looked like the van that they used. It looked like the van that he was nervous might be following him. But. There was no way that the van had found him after those turns. Was it one of them, just letting him know that they knew he had followed them?
He rushed inside and looked out of the curtains. They were there for a moment. They turned the van off and he took a deep gulp and reached for one of his guns. They got out of the van and stood, staring up at the house. DEFINITELY APEX. They stared, wearing a gold mask, a tam hat, and the all black outfit that he had gotten used to, but then not seen for a while. “Grace!” He said. He put his gun down and rushed out of his door. “Grace?” He called, but she rushed back into the van, tossed something out, and peeled off. “Grace…” He ran down the hill and out to the road. She was gone… He looked down to see what she had thrown down on her way off. It was a Stop sign with a red squiggly line underneath the word “Stop.” He picked it up, roared and began to smash it against the pavement, before flinging it into the middle of the road and going back into his house. He called Jalicia and she looked at her phone, not recognizing the number, so she answered it. “Hello?”
“Was that Grace?” a voice asked.
“What?”
“The person who just followed me home and told me to stop. Was that Grace?”
“No,” was all that she said. He hung up. She put her phone away.
“Who’s that?” Xander wondered.
“Non issue,” she said. It wasn’t a complete lie, and there was no way that she was about to ruin their night with… whatever that had been about. She and Xander were still digging when their third came walking up, her gold mask on her face and a shovel in hand. “Girl, where did you rush off to?”
“I knew he was gonna still be alive,” she said and pulled up the mask onto her head. Sunny. “Had to make a stop,” she said with a shrug. She and Jalicia stared at each other a moment, and Xander kept digging, oblivious to the exchange of them questioning each other with their eyes. It was short lived, because Grace was connecting for the video call. “Hey, Girl, Hey!” Sunny cheered.
“Bitch, I’m so mad that I’m not there right now.”
“Be mad at Jimona,” Sunny said.
“Simon!” Grace said, laughing. Then, more solemnly, said, “Draw a squiggle right across his face, for me.”
“Sure will,” Sunny said, pulling her knife out. “What are you listening to, Woman?”
Grace checked the info on her streaming, “Hurts by Emeli Sande.”
“That’s dope. Send me the link to that.”

Simon was at the apartment now, crying and sitting in front of the cameras. He wondered if she would return with them, but looking at the feeds he had placed to check the outside of their homes, he noted that the three entered Xander and Jalicia’s home at 3:47 am… and that… wasn’t Grace. It was the woman that he had initially identified as, “One who looks like Grace.” It was Sunny… He flared his nostrils and set an alert to remind him about the yoga and meditation at the community center.
His phone began to ring while it was in his hands. It was a private number. For a moment, he let his heart accelerate. “Hello?” He answered.
Silence. He sighed and almost hung up, but… he felt something. His tears stopped, he sat up erect and waited. She was silent, still. He was afraid to break it, but more afraid of her losing whatever nerve she had at the moment and hanging up. So, he dared to speak. He kept his voice soft and low. Gentle, like he knew she would remember him being. “Hey…” He said. He heard her sniffle and it tore at his heart. “Hey,” he managed to say even softer. “Are you okay?” She sniffled again. “Tell me what I can do to make you okay?”
“Why did you do that, Simon? Why did you?”
“I wanted to be close to you. I wanted to know you. I wanted you… I didn’t know what to do. I was desperate. I am desperate. Please, tell me where you are…”
“You let Xander catch you.” There was the longest pause since the conversation started. Eventually, she spoke again. “I feel like the kids walked in on me doing something dirty…”
“I feel like it’s none of ‘the kids’ damn business what we do.”
“They can’t see stuff like that. They can’t see me being followed and watched, obsessively. They can’t just move on from that. You have no idea the kind of people who… Why did you have a gun?”
“Because, I had just been attacked by somebody that I know is a murderer and I was on edge…” They were quiet again. “I can keep them out of sight from now on. I can keep them away from you, at all times…”
“If I come back into town, my crew is gonna get… difficult. It won’t be safe for you.”
“I can’t prove myself to them? To you? Did you see what I found for them? For Heath? For Jalicia?... For you?”
“Yeah. Yeah, Jalicia told me right away…”
“You sound like you’re smiling,” he observed, daring to smile, himself.
“I can’t help it… but… we can’t… do this, Simon.”
“Don’t…”
“We’re both in really weird places and us coming together isn’t good… for either of us, I think…”
“Please…”
“We shouldn’t be together, see each other, anything. You should… get on with your life.”
“No!”
“Bye, Simon.”
“NO!!” She hung up. He bit into his lip so hard that he drew blood, trying to keep his composure. He couldn’t even go to the gun range right now! But.. He could… go back to that field. He knew where it was. He knew where the bodies were now… he… was running out of patience, but he reminded himself that it wasn’t her fault. The longer they kept her away from him, the more confused she would be. She just needed to understand that he was on her side. If she couldn’t… she would have to learn that there were consequences for going against him.
