titronto recap!! spoilers below the cut !!
before I get into I just want send the biggest good vibes to all of the Americans out there, and also everyone else feeling really discouraged about the election. ily, take care of yourselves <3
- we all did the hot to go dance together during the pre show playlist
- everyone dressed so to theme it was so crazy seeing the streets of toronto filled up with phannies it was lovely
- dan started the show by saying he was glad they were in Canada instead of America that night :,))
- phil said he was gonna be extra annoying bc he had 3 birthday cake flavoured timbits before the show
- someone threw a trans flag down from a balcony at one point it was so good
- phil accidentally slipped up and called us “phersons” at one point and they both laughed about it. we are phersons thank you đŸ«¶
- our random talking point was “moose” but the boys weren’t sure if we actually said “goose” so the topic was “meese”
- lawyer dan wrote erotica about tim bits. at some point whoever was typing backstage changed that answer to “phim phits”
- when giving the traits of real Phil, the audience was obviously made up of Phillies and we were just clapping for him until the card that said “loves capitalism” and then it went a little silent and people started doing this 👎👎 and dan was like. “we got him boys. we got him”
- we ended up killing real dan and linguist phil
- dan verbally called out someone videoing or taking photos with their phone fhsj
- idk if he does this every show but dan said “I’m just a girl’ at one point and me and my friend went crazy
- while they were boxing and doing their trash talk and dan was like “scared?” And phil said “just scared of my life without you after I kill you” Iris and I were both like. đŸ«ąđŸ«ą so what do you mean by that
- stage manager cleaning up the boxing while they monologue. hey đŸ«¶đŸ«¶ you are my hero đŸ«¶đŸ«¶
general thoughts!!! phil is so beautiful. He is so so beautiful. every time he looked up at us me and Iris felt a little faint. dan and is also gorgeous oh my god. he’s also so kinetic and he moves around doing weird poses the whole time
their chemistry is so good!! like the comedic timing and the way they play off each other. all of it sounded very natural, I couldn’t really tell what was improv or scripted for a lot of the show
when sister daniel came out iris and i lost capability to speak. like wdym. she is so beautiful in person
@aterribleinfluence + Hayley @sisterdaniels @kettle-on it was so so nice meeting you!! and it was great handing bracelets out to people that was so cute. mwah mwah mwah

maybe deadpool x reader where they don’t have a very good friendship in their life and wade finds them crying over it one day.? hurt comfort my beloved

Cry Buddy
You never imagined that Deadpool, of all people, would be the one to find you in such a vulnerable state. You thought you’d have been able to keep it together, but some days, the weight of loneliness and the lack of meaningful friendships got to be too much. Today was one of those days.
You sat alone, your back against a wall in a quiet corner, tears streaming down your face as you tried to hold back sobs. You were supposed to be strong—at least, that’s what everyone always told you. But today, it was too much. The feeling of isolation, of not really having anyone to turn to, was suffocating.
And then, just when you thought you were alone, you heard a familiar voice.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold the chimichangas. Are those tears? In this economy?"
You looked up to see Wade standing there, tilting his head as he stared down at you. His usual comedic bravado was still present, but there was a softness in his gaze, something that made you realize he wasn’t going to just crack jokes and leave.
You quickly tried to wipe your face, embarrassed that he had found you like this. "I’m fine, Wade."
"Uh-huh, yeah, I know what ‘fine’ looks like, and this... this isn’t it," he replied, squatting down in front of you. "You wanna talk about it? Or should I just sit here and make awkward conversation until you eventually tell me what’s going on?"
You managed a weak chuckle through your tears, which only seemed to encourage him.
"There it is! A little smile!" Wade grinned widely under his mask, leaning back on his heels. "But seriously, what’s going on? You don’t just cry for no reason. Trust me, I know all about crying—especially when no one’s around to hear it."
You sighed, feeling the weight of everything still pressing down on you. "I just... I don’t really have anyone, Wade. No real friends. People act like they care, but they don’t. I feel like I’m always the one left out, or like I’m never good enough for anyone to really stick around."
Wade was quiet for a moment, uncharacteristically so. Then, he moved to sit next to you, leaning his head back against the wall. "You know, people suck. Most of them, anyway. And friendships? They can be like eating a bad taco. Looks good at first, but by the end, you’re regretting every bite. Trust me, I get it."
You glanced over at him, surprised by how genuine he sounded.
"But," Wade continued, "I also know that sometimes, you meet someone who’s not like the others. Someone who’ll stick around, even when you’re not your best. Someone like... I don’t know, me?"
You let out a small laugh, though the tears were still threatening to spill over. "You’re not exactly the first person that comes to mind when I think ‘reliable friend,’ Wade."
He gasped dramatically, placing a hand over his chest. "I am shocked and appalled. I am a great friend! I may not always show up on time, or... ever... but when I do? Oh, I’m there for you, 100%."
There was a sincerity in his voice now, one that made your heart ache a little less. Wade wasn’t like everyone else, that much was clear. He was chaotic and unpredictable, but at the same time, you knew that he meant what he said.
"You know," he added, "if you ever feel like crying again, I can be your cry-buddy. We can cry together. I’ve got this beautiful monologue prepared for such occasions—guaranteed to make us both sob uncontrollably."
You wiped your eyes, smiling a little wider this time. "Thanks, Wade. I guess... I just didn’t expect you to care."
He shrugged, casually placing an arm around your shoulders. "Well, surprise! I do care. And if anyone else says you’re not good enough or leaves you hanging, I’ll just—" He mimed slicing with an imaginary sword. "Problem solved."
You leaned into him slightly, feeling some of the loneliness start to fade. "You don’t have to fight anyone for me, Wade."
"Who said anything about fighting? I’ll just give them a stern talking-to," he said with a wink. "But seriously, I’m here, okay? You’re not alone. And I’m not just saying that because you have great taste in chimichangas."
For the first time in a long time, you felt a little lighter, knowing that maybe—just maybe—you had found someone who truly cared.

Ray, when I say I adore your writing it’s an understatement of the highest degree. It has enhanced my understanding of Naruto as a character, given me insight on the personalities of others, and fundamentally changed the type of interpretation I feel comfortable consuming in the fandom.
I used to be the type that genuinely found some of the “comedic” insults made at Naruto’s expense funny, but now I can’t help but find it distasteful and a bit ( a whole lot) frustrating. So many times in canon they went out of the way to emphasize the pain of Naruto’s childhood and formative experiences as a ninja (he literally found the most intrinsic part of his nindo from Haku who died soon after) but then wrote off all the consequences of said childhood and experiences as Naruto’s stupidity instead of lack of opportunity. Then they went out of their way to hail Naruto as a genius in his own right, if not a traditional one, and completely discounted their own characterization again just for a cheap laugh.
And, as fandom does, those jokes got turned into one of the most enduring parts of his personality in fandom. So many people have reduced his character to a dumb smile and luck, but writers like you emphasize all the parts of him I didn’t even realize got overlooked until I saw it written down. The way you verbalize his quite pain, the hurt tucked behind his teeth, and the frustration welling in his chest is so striking and memorable. Doubly so since you not only write his pain, but his aching hope and joy in whatever moments he can manage to scrounge it up. The fact you also write the consequences of these feelings and experiences instead of just following canon with a more complex monologue just makes my heart burst with pain and joy in equal measure.

College Tummy Tales
due to popular demand, here is a comprehensive list of all tummy-related events that happened on campus this semester (these are all 100% real, i promise you 😭😭😭)
1. this literally happened last friday. i live in a sophomore dorm with my roommate and best friend. we live in an all-gender wing, so me and her are constantly patrolling the hallways because really weird stuff happens at night. last friday we heard some activity near our door, and we decided to be nosy and see what was happening. we came out into the hallway and saw our RA standing near the bathroom, and this twenty-year old guy we live across from sitting on the floor (he’s SUPER cute, like he’s got that shoulder-length middle part haircut and is generally just really friendly and playful. i think he’s a theatre major). anyway, he was curled up on the floor with a bottle of ginger ale and he looked absolutely AWFUL. we asked if everything was okay and he cracked this really weak smile and told us the fish from our dining hall made him sick, and he puked and felt really dizzy and had to sit down on the floor. our RA passed by and got really worried about him and just stayed with him until he felt like he could walk back to his dorm. my roommate knows about my interests (she’s SO FUNNY and supportive) and she was like 😏 girl you gotta take care of him. i didn’t want to overwhelm him so we let him rest. i ended up texting him later and asked if he was feeling better, and he said he was and thanked me for checking up on him. i guess the moral of the story is don’t eat the fish from the dining hall.
2. i am friends with a lot of male theatre majors LMAO. this story happened like, a month ago and isn’t as eventful, but another cute male theatre major is in my ballet class (he is the ONLY guy in my ballet class), and one morning he was sitting out from dancing and i came over to talk to him. COMPLETELY UNPROMPTED he LAUNCHED into a monologue about how bad his stomach hurt that morning, complete with the moaning and groaning and everything, even like, sitting up and showing me his stomach and pushing it out. i was so stunned i just started laughing and he jokingly was like “why are you laughing at my pain????” and i was like “idk i guess you just saying the word tummy as a grown man” and he was like “my tummy? my delicate hurting tummy? my sore little belly?” i swear to god, the male theatre majors are built DIFFERENT.
3. on the topic, men seem to feel really comfortable just using the word “tummy” in general, which i find amusing. i can count a couple of occurrences of men using the word tummy for comedic effect, using phrases like “tummy ache survivor” or “having a tummy ache and being a very brave boy about it”
4. this next one happened in the dining hall and i thought someone would find it amusing. im not huge into burps, but last week this big boisterous frat guy kept burping SO LOUD in the dining hall. it was so fucking obnoxious and the burps were so long and sustained. i kept looking over to give them the stink eye, and the guy had like, 5 empty plates, so ig he was a little full and gassy or something because LORD. hopefully he didn’t eat the fish 😟
5. this last one is the real kicker. in one of my design classes there is this cute, chubby redhead that sits next to me. before class started he had begun complaining to no one in particular that he woke up nauseous that morning. im a really friendly girl so i guess people just feel comfortable sharing things with me, but during class this redhead leaned into my ear and whispered something. like ballet, i was so stunned i asked him to repeat it, and it turns out my ears did not deceive me. he said “i have a tummy ache” into my ear, and my eyes widened and i just couldn’t believe it. i asked if he was hungry or something and tried to offer him a granola bar from my bag, but he turned it down and said he was going to eat something after class. but WOW. im still in disbelief about that one.
anyway, that’s all i can think of for now. me and my roommate have a counter called “X amount of days without a man telling [my name] about his stomach.” so far we’ve only made it 2 days because that halloweekend guy in my poetry class made me have to reset the counter. anyway, love my roommate 💖 the other day she was like “girl you’re only attracted to him because he had an upset stomach đŸ€šâ€ and i DIED because she’s so right. the bar is so low, boys.

My Favourite Reece Shearsmith Characters
So it's Reece Shearsmith's birthday today, so I decided to celebrate this by sharing some of my favourite characters played by this fantastically talented actor
These are in no particular order
Gregory Brewster - Him Indoors
Tumblr media
Him Indoors is a short film about a serial killer with agoraphobia. Not only is the premise very interesting, Reece delivers a chilling yet very entertaining performance as the main character. It's on YouTube if you want to watch it, which I highly reccomend you do!
Tommy - Bernie Clifton's Dressing Room
Tumblr media
This HAD to be on the list! Reece's performance as Tommy is heartbreaking, we watch a man seems to put-together and serious slowly fall apart and lose control of his calm façade - impeccable work
Sean Stone - Chasing Shadows
Tumblr media
Admittedly, I don't know where the watch the full show, but I have seen clips and I knew I had to put it on this list because of Reece's portrayal of an autistic person. You can tell he put a lot of thought and research into it in order to give a realistic performance, which is a testament to his dedication and how much he truly cares about the roles he plays and who he's representing
Tyler - Riddle Of The Sphinx SPOILERS BELOW
Tumblr media
If there's one thing Reece is good at, it's how to play a chilling villain. Everything about Tyler is unnerving and he manages to be terrifying without being loud or angry all the time. It's measured and the emotion builds and builds - fantastic work!
Joseph Lisgoe - The League Of Gentlemen
Tumblr media
I've mentioned before that the debt collectors were underused, and I simply had to talk about how extraordinary Reece's performance as Lisgoe was. He completely dives into the roles he plays and this one was no exception, not even a light smashing on his closest friend stops him from carrying on a scene (just check out the outtakes!), he simply embodies the part and delivers a performance that terrifies the cast, crew and the audience
Laurence - Merrily Merrily SPOILERS BELOW
Tumblr media
Merrily Merrily is an Inside No. 9 episode that I can never rewatched because of how empty it made me feel - and I mean that in the best way possible! Laurence is wracked with pain over the loss of his late partner, and Reece delivers such a subtle yet haunting performance that I don't think I'll ever stop thinking about it
Ross Gaines - The League of Gentlemen
Tumblr media
Ross is such a fun character because of how manipulative, calculating and cold he is. Not only does it set him apart from the other inhabitants of Royston Vasey, it makes his scenes with Pauline all the more tense and entertaining - and Reece really does deliver in the role. I'm glad they decided to go with this casting choice
Aiden - Thinking Out Loud
Tumblr media
Like with Laurence, Reece delivers a hauntingly stellar performance. What makes this one really special is that it's a monologue. There's nobody for him to bounce off of or react to, he has to reach those emotions himself. And, as always, he nails it
Ollie Plimsolls - The League Of Gentlemen
Tumblr media
I've said before that I think Ollie is one of the most cleverly written League characters and I stand by that. As a representation of the Saviour Complex and self-righteousness of people in theatre, Ollie is a character that should be easy to hate... but because of Reece's expert comedic timing and delivery, he ends up being so funny that you can't help but laugh every time he's onscreen
SPECIAL MENTION: Gilbert - Betty Blue Eyes
Tumblr media
Reece Shearsmith said in an interview that he wasn't a great singer. Reece Shearsmith is a liar. Don't believe me? Listen to The Kind Of Man I Am from Betty Blue Eyes and thank me later
Also, if you can find it, there's a short bootleg of him in The Producers which is good too!
Of course, this are just a few of his performances and he's never delivered a bad one - whether he's playing a comedic character like Archie in The Bill or a more serious one like in Borley Rectory. And we haven't even touched on his writing skills, I can't wait to see what he does next!

Okay I've thought about this as long as I can stand and--am I the only person who thought this was *awkward*?
I've been chewing on it, reading about other people's reactions, studying frame by frame the movements of Aziraphale's hands and like. I *see* it, I see how y'all get to the "brief moment of reciprocation" conclusion, but.
It is AWKWARD. It is one of the most awkward onscreen kisses I have ever seen.
Why is that??
The characters have chemistry. The narrative has established their relationship. The actors have chemistry; each of them has a proven track record of standout performances. And it's not as though either of them is new at this. So why, with all that on the table, does this look like amateur hour?
I got curious about it, and my hypothesis is this: they're reading from different playbooks.
"Saw it in a Richard Curtis film".
It feels like a throwaway line, something to wink-nudge a laugh out of the audience. There's a bit of confusion immediately afterwards regarding Jane Austen, Prolific Novelist and Jane Austen, Jewel Thief and Crime Lord, and isn't that funny haha look at the clueless celestial beings but almost NOTHING in this show has been just filler, or meaningless.
So who was Richard Curtis and why is he the model for Crowley's attempts at matchmaking? Turns out Richard Curtis directed some of the more iconic romcoms of the 90s and 2000s. I'm talking Notting Hill ("I'm just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her", remember that one?); I'm talking Love Actually; I'm talking Bridget Jones Diary--which, funnily enough, is at the very least inspired by Pride & Prejudice. Sappy monologues and kissing in the rain is this guy's bread & butter.
Aziraphale, on the other hand, wants to try the Austen-esque approach of having balls. There were fairly rigid rules to courtship back in Austen's day. Rules that HAD to be followed, in the right order, or else face social ruin. Austen made her career out of poking fun at those even as her characters worked within them. Point is, you only get to kiss at the end, and one of you better be wearing a wedding dress.
I may be stating the obvious but I haven't seen anyone else talking about it so: one layer to Crowley's and Aziraphale's brainstorming session on how to get Nina and Maggie together is also their way of subtly indicating what they themselves find romantic, and would want someone else to do for them to demonstrate their interest. For Aziraphale it's dancing and atmospheric lighting and having everything just so and *conversations that clear up everything*. For Crowley it's tearful speeches and getting the chance to tell the truth while streetlights glitter through pouring rain, where the protagonists seem to be pulled into a showstopping kiss almost as of by magnetism alone. There's a formula to each of the kinds of romantic storytelling that inspires their different matchmaking styles.
For Aziraphale, The Kiss (because you know this bitch(affectionate) would use the Capital Letters for Emphasis And/Or Significance) skips several steps in the courtship dance he thinks they've been doing. From Crowley's Perspective, Aziraphale is three acts, two scenes behind from where *he* thinks they are. Their kiss looks awkward because they are desynchronized, out of step with each other.
In other words, and in many more ways than just the one, they are not on the same page.
But you know who these two numpties have in common?
William Fucking Shakespeare. My outlandishly speculative prediction for season 3 is their reconciliation will have something to do with Shakespeare's comedic works. The perfect turnabout would be modeling it on Much Ado, with Nina and Maggie playing the bits of Hero and Claudio in fabricating evidence to get them back together: Crowley and Aziraphale messed about with their lives, it's only fair they should get to dish it out.

Mr Queen
Subtitle: Comedic genius becomes the Main Character
Tumblr media
A/n: I will be making a post called my unattainabe crushes and adding characters i love to it after each review!
This movie is suitable for all ages but i recommend for those above 13! As always my reviews will be including spoilers so be warned. The review starts below the cut!
Word count: 0.8k
*******
I assume that you have read the spoiler warning above so I'm just going to get right into it and say that I'm a sucker for drama but even I almost became tired of it. Firstly, the K-drama had me laughing time after time. From the mistranslations of the Queen's language by the Queen to the very dramatic moments and the identity crisis. All of it tied in to create a light-hearted yet sometimes serious K-drama series.
The plot is about a chef who through an accident finds himself in the body of the soon-to-be queen 200 years before the modern world. He gets into a lot of family drama and makes some enemies all while trying to live a quiet life in the palace. He soon realizes that that won't be possible and that the place is all about sides and sabotage, despite his attempts he still finds the people of the palace against him. The story covers him navigating the palace as well as the troubles of the King and the blooming love between the King and the Queen(Him).
This K-drama gave me new crushes, enemies and faves! But I'll talk about only a few of them here.
Firstly, The main character in the Queen's body. Now I know sometimes it's quite boring and cliche to like the main character, but admittedly to me, this guy carried the whole show. From the monologues to the identity crisis to the relationships with other characters such as the Queen's court maid and lady-in-waiting, the King's father-in-law and the chef. The unique interactions and his mannerisms in the Queen's body. He put a smile on my face time after time. He is my number 1 fave in this show and no one can change my mind.
Secondly, Palace Uibin. I did not like her in the palace, not even a little. I get that the two had a past but i just got irritated by her attitude, especially when she gave the ledger to the Queen Dowager when she knew it would help the King that she loved, because of jealousy. She also tried to shoot the queen with an arrow which could have fatally killed her! All for what? When the Queen had told her countless times that she wasn't involved. In fact, I can go as far as to say the Queen was living quietly and minding her business while everyone else tried to pin things on her. Uibin managed to be fooled by a woman who lets superstitions rule her life all for her hatred of the innocent.
Thirdly, The King, I love the king! From his backstory to just him in general and his love for the Queen just touched my heart and made me truly feel my singleness to a new degree! The King is the only one that I will defend to this day. He truly cared for his people and so I treasure him in my heart. he has been added to my list of unattainable crushes.
Kim Byung-In is someone I had a love-hate relationship with, mostly because he kept attacking my beloved King but also because the man was just doing too much. Like just rest! My cousins don't even ask me how i am, why are you in the Queen's business like this? If you had suspicions of the King, you could have asked the Queen! Because your family did more damage to the Queen than the King ever did or would! I was just looking at the guy and he was embarrassing me. But towards the end of the series, I was a little sad when he was dying but overall I was happy that he did.
The entire Jo and Ansong Kim family just left me with a bitter taste in my mouth and I hate them all. Safe to say I don't like royalty much at least in K-drama because when you sleep and wake up, there is a new problem. Why is my uncle trying to kill me and still expects me to reconcile later? Like Godforbid, it can't be me.
When the Ministers and the Grand Queen Dowager tried to have the little girl killed for trying to save the queen, this made me hate every person in that council. They irritated me to no end and enraged me greatly for the entirety of the episode and till the end of the season.
I didn't really like the ending of Mr Queen when the mc went back to, modern times but I don't mind too much.
I have decided to add the following members to my list of unattainable crushes:
Prince Youngpyeong: He is totally an introvert but he was cute and I just loved him.
Kim Hwan: He was just an idiot and that made me love him. He is a very simple-minded person which is a breath of fresh air for me.
Special Director Hong: His personality just made me love him. The way he was always going undercover and comforting Kim Hwan. I just love him!
So that concludes my review. Overall I give the K-drama a 7.5/10! I absolutely love it but the drama was getting a bit too much for me. Plus they didn't kill the Queen Dowager and Grand Queen Dowager so I was left A little underwhelmed.
Till next time loves!

I'm making this because I want to post something, but also am in somewhat of a manic episode and this is how I cope so-
Explaining some of my kins
Emily Dickinson (Dickinson)
If anyone knows that "Is this fuckin play about us?!" audio from Tiktok, that's how I felt when I first saw this woman on my screen. Aside from having siblings, there is NOTHING that sets us apart. The inflection in her voice, how she interacts with people around her, her family's dynamic, her internal monologues, and how she copes with things. I have two tattoos dedicated to this show because the show resonated with me to such a high extreme.
Rebecca Bunch (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend)
Without going into too much detail. Let's just say that I've been season 1 Rebecca in the past. I watched the show back in 2019 and multiple times, at some almost comedic scenes I started crying because I resonated with Rebecca to such a high degree. I saw, not parts of myself, but my whole self in her. A little funny thing is one of my friends is named Patrick, so I often sing "(Tell Me I'm Okay) Patrick" when he's around. And of course, the quote: "It just, it just feels like everyone is in this cabal of normal people, and they're all laughing at me like I'm the jester in my own Truman Show. Patrick, tell me what the secret is."
Robin Buckley (Stranger Things)
A lil Robin! She's one of the reasons why I changed my name! I love the name, Robin, I always did! I mean there's not much to say about her in terms of kinning. A little ball of anxiety that seems intimidating at first (apparently a lot of my friends found me intimidating when they saw me), a little fun comedic character that actually borders on tragedy (if the show would be written well-). Autistic as well, but that's fanon.
Eleanor Shellstrop (The Good Place)
UMM HELLO??? HI?? ME??? Mommy issues, daddy issues. Just issues in general, deflecting with humor??? I actually started hyper-fixating on philosophy because of this show, my friends constantly keep saying I'd be the main character in a sitcom too (which... I am...). I mean just watch the show if you haven't, it's really good.
Edward Teach (Our Flag Means Death)
When I made my friend watch OFMD I asked him which character he thinks I kin and the second Blackbeard showed up he pointed to him and I asked why, his response was "What do you mean, why?! Look at him! ADHD off the charts! He's all over the place! He's fascinated by the simplest of things!", then later on as the show continued, when we got Ed's backstory, he once again said "I can't believe you asked me why when he has daddy issues." And of course, there's more to me relating to him outside of these little traits. Will I share anything else? No, fuck you (/j), it's personal!
Nadine Franklin (The Edge of Seventeen)
SHE IS ME, I AM HER!!! MY MOM EVEN LOOKS LIKE HER MOM!! SHEEEEEE-
This is all for now, some more Robin lore I guess hahaha-
I think this could be classified as a shit-post but honestly I don't know

'By My Side' Chapter One - Up all Night
We're all born beautiful. The greatest tragedy is being convinced we are not.
.
.
This, to most, is by no means the love story we tend to find in books or movies, I'll tell you that now. I'm Wooyoung by the way, or well, I'm his internal monologue. I'll be here to guide the story when needed so, get used to me. But anyways, I'm sure you want the actual story. Let's go back to where this story started.
.
.
~Cue comedic, yet annoying, tape rewind sound~
.
.
"Wooyoung! It's nearly three in the morning, why the fuck are you still awake?"
The boy groaned in response, used to the routine by now, "I can't sleep. I really feel like you should know that by now, it's literally been–" The ringing in his ears and a sharp stinging pain throbbing in his cheek as his mother slapped him made it impossible to finish the sentence.
"Don't you ever talk to me like that again, you ungrateful little shit. Do you know how much I've given up for you?"
"Yes ma'am," he replied as if it's second nature by now and sat his phone on his desk.
'Get some sleep Wooyoung. You have school in a few hours." He nodded and tossed the blanket over his head waiting for his mother to leave the room.
After a few minutes, he reaches for his phone and notices someone replied to his Instagram post he made a couple of hours earlier. He had been messing around with his makeup and had posted his setup as well as the finished look.
"Pretty!," the comment read, "you should really do your makeup more for school^^."
Wooyoung smiled a little and liked the comment, although he didn't immediately recognize the account. He doesn't typically get comments praising his work, quite the opposite actually. He checked who the account was run by, but it didn't have any posts of the person or their name. He shrugged it off and went back to his post.
"Aaaa TY!! I might actually today, heh I can't sleep so I have time", he responds and looks over at his desk, his products still sprawled all over it.
He reached over and turned his lamp on before getting out of bed. He walked over to his closet carefully looking through it to see what catches his attention. Despite his wardrobe being mostly black, he has a few brighter pieces. A baby pink sweatshirt he had cropped caught his attention and he grabbed a pair of light ripped jeans to go with it. He pairs it with a simple black belt, some rings, a couple of necklaces, and white Converse. A few final adjustments later and he's satisfied with his outfit.
"Now, what to do for my makeup." He sits down at his desk and starts scrolling Pinterest for inspiration, eventually settling on pink and blue clouds for his eyeshadow, and everything else being fairly neutral.
After finishing his makeup Wooyoung grabs his phone, checking the time and decides to just relax until he has to leave. He opens up Instagram to check other comments on his post and gets a text. It's the same account that commented earlier. He checks the account again and realizes they follow him now.
"Hii^^ I know this is weird, I just think you seem cool." Wooyoung smiles and hearts the message as it isn't uncommon for him to get messages from people who follow him.
"TY!! By the way, you said I should do my makeup for school. So, do we go to the same school?"
"Mhm, you'll figure out who I am later, I think I'm actually gonna talk to you today." Wooyoung laughs slightly and again likes the message.
"Well then, see you in a bit I guess, mystery man(?)."
"Yes, man. Also, we have the same lunch, I'm sure we can talk then if I don't see you before^^."
"You definitely don't sound like a stalker at all. But, oddly I trust you...enough to agree to this anyway. I gotta go though ttyl."
Wooyoung backs out of the conversation and goes back to the person's account. Having a few minutes before he needs to go downstairs for breakfast he looks through who's following the account. Sure enough, it's people from his school, mostly popular kids though.
"Wooyoung! Breakfast," he hears his mom shout. He quickly puts his phone up, grabbing his headphones, keys, and wallet as well before heading to the kitchen. "Sleep well?" she asks as he enters the room. He nods and sits down at the table.
"Thank you, Mom," he says, taking a few bites of the pancakes in front of him.
"I see you," she pauses, "dressed up.
"A school friend asked if I could do my makeup, so I wore something that goes with it," he quickly responds, trying to shut the conversation before it starts.
"I see. Well, I need you to drop your little brother off. I have to go to work early and I can't," she says gathering her things.
"Yes ma'am, I wish I was woken up a little earlier then. You know I prefer getting to school early."
"You need sleep, Wooyoung. You can't keep doing this to yourself. You look absolutely exhausted," She messes with his hair and kisses him and his brother on their foreheads, "Call me if you need me. Or if you need to come home, I'll call the school and have your father come get you."
"Yes ma'am." He finishes his food and walks over to the sink and washes his plate off. When his mother leaves he calls for Kyungmin to come downstairs so they can leave as well.
"You're gonna be there a little early okay," he says, messing with the little boy's hair and Kyungmin only nods in response. They head outside to Wooyoung's car and start making their way to school.
After dropping his little brother off he gets to the high school just a few minutes later. Luckily, a spot closer to the front is still open so he parks there and makes his way into the building.
"Wooyoung!" he hears as he's about to leave the main hall, "wait for me!" For one reason or another, he pauses and looks around for who's calling him. After a few seconds, a kid comes running up to him. San.
No way he thought to himself it couldn't have been his account could it?
As the other boy catches up to him he says, "See, I told you I'd talk to you today." He laughs a little and smiles.
Wooyoung pauses for a second and blankly stares at San, "Huh? Wait, that was you?"
"Guilty as charged. I uh, didn't know how to come up to you without you thinking I was gonna be like my friends. So uh, I texted you." He awkwardly smiles again, his face being noticeably redder than it was before.
Wooyoung backs up a little towards the bathroom, "Yeah, well. It didn't really help. You seemed nice over text but–"
"Wait. Wooyoung," he reaches out and grabs Wooyoung's sleeve, but almost immediately lets go. "I'm not here to make fun of you or hurt you. I said you seem cool because you do and I wanna get to know you."
"I don't think you understand. You and your friends have a," he pauses for a second, "reputation. I have no reason to trust you."
San sighs but nods, "Come here," he says, grabbing Wooyoung's sleeve and dragging him into the bathroom. Without pause, San hugs him. Pulling wooyoung into the point he's resting against Sans's chest.
"W-wa–? Let go of me!" Wooyoung pushed himself off the other and backed away again. "What was that for?"
"Look I needed a way to convince you I wasn't gonna hurt you and that was the first thing I thought of," he looked away slightly, "I'm sorry."
"It's- it's fine. It just scared me," Wooyoung replied, "I'm gonna go to class now." San nodded and moved to let him out.
Wooyoung quickly left the bathroom and tried to get to his class as quickly as possible. He was the first in the room. He sighed and sat down at his seat before putting his earbuds in. He just barely heard the first bell ring as the class started filling up.
He sighed but put up his earbuds and started getting out his things for class. When he looked up from his bag he saw a small piece of paper on his desk.
Opening it up the note read, "He likes you. Don't just ignore him." Wooyoung looked around the room trying to find who left the note. When he looked over at the door he saw Seonghwa, one of San's friends standing there. Seonghwa nodded and walked off after noticing Wooyoung was looking at him.
He put the note in his pocket and tried not to think about it too much. This is the class he does worst in and he needs to focus after all. The second bell rings and the teacher walks into the room, shutting the door behind himself.
"Alright, is everyone here, let us see," the teacher starts mumbling to himself, "good, glad to see everyone could make it today. As you all know by now, we have our midterm tests in a couple of weeks," the class lets out a collective groan, "I know but, we still have a unit to finish before then. Let's get started."
He makes his way to his desk and grabs a stack of papers, "Wooyoung, would you mind helping me pass these out?"
"Yes sir," Wooyoung mumbled, making his way to the desk.
Vocabulary, great he thought to himself, looking at the paper as he passed it out. When he finished passing out the papers he handed the extras to the teacher and went back to his desk. He grabbed the textbook from under his chair and flipped to the back, immediately starting to look for definitions.
He felt his phone buzz and looked at the now lit-up screen. It was a text from San. He stopped and pulled up the notification, reading it from there.
"Hey, can you come to the bathroom in a few? I wanna talk." Wooyoung turned off the screen and went back to the worksheet in front of him when his phone buzzed again. "Please, I won't do anything like what I did, I promise."
He sighed and put his pencil down, picking up his phone and opening the conversation, "When and which bathroom?"
"A few minutes or whenever you finish your work. You're in History, right?"
"Yep, three pages of vocabulary. I'll text you when I finish this page." He smiled a little, though he didn't know why and put his phone down. He rushed through the definitions, abbreviating and cutting words out whenever he could.
When he finished the page he raised his hand, "Mr. Kim, may I use the bathroom?"
"What page are you on?" The teacher responded, starting to walk his way.
"I just finished the first page."
"You may. Hurry up though, this is due at the end of class."
"Yessir," Wooyoung said, grabbing his phone and heading towards the bathroom.
"Hey, I'm on my way." He text as he rounded the corner to the main hall. He opened the door to the bathroom to see San already there.
San smiled a little and then looked away, "Seonghwa told you, didn't he?"
"Oh, you wanna talk about that? Yeah, he did. Kinda, he gave me a note." Wooyoung said, making sure the door is shut behind him. He rests against it and just looks at San. "Why? You don't even know me. Also, I could have sworn you've made fun of me for being gay."
"Heh, not my proudest moment. I uh, didn't know I was too when that happened. Or well I did but–"
"It's fine, sorta. I get it at least. But, you didn't answer my first question."
San's face seemed to get a little red, "Well honestly, I'm not sure. Like, I know I think you're attractive and I know I get super awkward when you're around but I don't know why." Wooyoung nodded slightly and moved a little closer to San, who was still almost completely across the room sitting on a changing bench.
"I'm the first guy you've liked aren't I? How about this, we talk for a while, get to know each other and all. We can hang out outside of school and stuff, then I ask you again in a couple of weeks. If you know why in two weeks, we can see where things go from there. Okay?"
San nods slightly, "You are and like, I don't know. It's different. I'm not like this at all with girls," his voice trails a little.
"San," Wooyoung said as he moved over to the bench and sat down beside the other, "have you ever had a genuine crush on a girl? Sorry if it's too personal, I just."
"I don't know, well. I at least haven't liked a girl in the same way I like you. Like, it's just so different. With girls I'm all confident and stuff but," he pauses for a second, "I don't wanna talk about that."
"It's okay, give it time. You'll figure it out. I'm here if you need to talk about it okay?" Wooyoung smiles and slightly rests against San without much thought.
"Oh um, we better get back to class. I'll text you okay?" San says, slightly pulling away from the touch.
"Yeah, okay, I'll see you later." Wooyoung gets up and slowly starts back to class.

Thoughts on the life you save maybe?
oh FUCK okay. that gifset earlier really unleashed more shrimp emotions and you're about to get them. and i'm going to warn you now the second i get that script in the post i'm going to be obnoxiously unstoppable.
when you have a character like charles in this show, that more or less served as the foil to the main character, that was the b plot antagonist, the character that lived to be brought down a few pegs for comedic effect, and then you turn around and give him character beats like this episode, it's a risky bet. his arc over the last six seasons could have paralleled that of frank in the first five, little depth, the punching bag, the personification of what the show was pointing and laughing at.
but
somewhere along the line you start getting little tiny glimpses at the man behind the curtain. before you've even realised it, suddenly he's a little more... human. and the thing about that is, we as the audience seem to be the only ones who get to see that. which i think is a great writing choice (if it were ever deliberate), because it really does speak to how aloof and emotionally distanced and separate in most senses he is as a character to the rest of them. the whole thing with the accent just cements it, that was an insane acting choice that didn't have to be made but *was*. so up until this point you get teeny tiny little hints about who he really is as a person compared to the performances he puts on for everyone else, and oh my god he's grown on you, right? by this point in the showmhe's so much more than the insufferable asshole that arrived in s6.
(going to put the rest under a cut cos this just went places)
and in this ep.... so much of it happens in front of us and no one else. when he finds the bullet holes in his cap, no one else in the room notices. the conversation with the soldier, bj DOES notice this but he catches only part of it and then proceeds to yell at him for being ghoulish later on. margaret can see something's wrong and attempts to reach out but ends up yelling at him for fidgeting with the cap he won't stop carrying around. potter all but dismisses it. i think it was said in another post that the choices of who interacted with him was very pointed and deliberate. not having hawkeye or mulcahy (no one mentioned sidney the entire episode which i feel is seriously telling) try was something i didn't realise until then, because that, narratively, would have pointed the episode in the same direction as many of the episodes with a similar theme would have gone, and for charles that would not have worked.
the part that sticks out at me, though, is the monologue with the jeep. rizzo being the silent observer while pulling the thing apart while charles sits in it, cap in hand, talking about death and being unable to put people back together like a jeep, and you have to just think that if it were you hearing those things being said, what the hell would you do. someone said the words passively suicidal, and i think that's the perfect way to describe it. like, what he says to potter on the phone, would that not concern you to a degree that something is seriously wrong? would that be so easy to dismiss and let run it's course? and i've said so before, but it'd be interesting to know what actually happened after that phone call, and what happened after he left the aid station, and what happened after and after and after but we don't get that. the story ends and that's really how it goes. it's clear that IF sidney was brought up that there'd be little chance charles would be willing to sit down and have that resolution, because we know from earlier there's a lot of trauma for him concerning psychiatry from a young age. and AGAIN that's a thing only WE know. and while it's not stated clearly the two things (the loss of his brother, being sent to a whole chorus line of psychiatrists at the age of 8, and this, i suppose you can say, relapse) are inextricably linked.
and it's never addressed again!
i can't stop thinking about how it's never brought up again. it ends, and that's where it ends. and if there's one thing about this show, it's that trauma never ends, it's always present, like a secondary character. and what i think stands out MOST is that he's the only one carrying it. most of everything they go through is shared weight between them all, but i guess with him coming from a place where burdens and deep dark secrets are carried alone without complaint or protest that that wasn't ever going to change overnight. and the the show must go on, same as it ever was. the closing shot of the hat being left at the aid station is some kind of closure for the episode itself, but we all know it's really not.
(i think i'd have to veer off a sec and make a comparison with what happens in gf&a, because it's the breakdown you do not see coming. the storyline is so subtly paralleled (see also 'dreams', but that's another essay entirely) with that of hawkeye's. in hawk's case it's the one you see coming a mile away. it's outward, it's dramatic, it's very public and everyone stops what they're doing and steps in in their own way. in charles' case... it sneaks up on you. you're distracted, and it takes you by surprise. and you're the only one who sees it. kellye was the only one present when he finds out about the musicians, but after that, nothing more is said by anyone else. the fact he stands up in front of everyone at the farewell dinner and says what he says, and no one even remarks on it. he has never told anything so personal and painful to that many people before. that was the saddest part of the whole episode for me, it really was. it was as if his continual decision to remain detached and removed from everyone paid off in the worst way possible, no one could see past the polished exterior he fought so hard to present at all times to notice the broken, flawed and the very human person who needed so much help behind it.)
there really wasn't much actually going on in the episode itself but it added so much to literally everything we really knew about his character. we know he lost a brother as a child. we know that he's so very close to and so VERY protective of his younger sister, we know that he's so very concerned with how he's perceived and living up to every insane and impossible expectation put upon him and worrying about falling short and being less than perfect at every turn. we know how hard it will be for him to actually come to terms and properly deal with what happened to him before and what's currently happening to him. we know how isolated and remote his childhood was. WE know this. but no one else does. and how it ends... he knows NOW what he's going back to. he does, and we do. the world's a beast of a burden and all those little things sprinkled here and there throughout the show, it adds up, and this episode, i think, just gives us all some indication how heavy that burden is.
i suppose you can say, this episode was a risk that paid off in so many ways. it was deliciously acted, written, and directed, and every second of it was utterly compelling. it wasn't an attempt to make him pitiable, it just really brings into focus how much of a three dimensional and more real character he grew to be.

Loki 1x01 Review
This is a long post. It includes scene by scene comments, theory for the show and analysis. There is also criticism of the show. Like a lot of it. So if you don’t want to see negativity about the show and also TR, don’t read this post.
*Spoilers for Loki 1x01 and also Loki Agent of Asgard comic book*
Scene by Scene Comments
Tumblr media
The very first scene was idiotic and ridiculous. The way Loki starts monologuing to the first people he meets was ooc and doesn’t make sense. It actually gave me second hand embarrassment. If it was supposed to be funny, the joke didn’t land. It was ooc because Loki isn’t a narcissistic egotistical idiot. And it doesn’t make sense because in Avengers Loki starts introducing himself to SHIELD in that way. An enemy, an organization who would oppose Loki in his invasion. In that situation Loki wants to be known. Escaping from imprisonment and landing on some unknown place without knowing who he is dealing with, Loki wouldn’t introduce himself that way. Remember that in Thor1, Loki stands back and observes as Thor talks to Laufey, and only interfere to calm things down. And even when he visits Laufey alone, he still isn’t so full of himself. In TDW when he sees Jane he introduces himself casually and calmly and not in a superior way. The only time, he is acting weirdly is in Avengers and under the influence of mind stone, but I guess we’re ignoring the mind influence, right? Smh.
“So, if you don’t mind this is actually your last chance. Now get out of my way.”
Good, good. In character. I like that.
I didn’t like the scene where the machine vanished Loki’s clothes because of the invasive and non-con way it felt. This scene is enough to show that TVA aren’t good guys and for me to hate them even more. Again, if the scene was supposed to be comedic, I didn’t find it funny. Neither I found the following scenes funny.
“What if I was a robot and I didn’t know it?”
I guess this line was for laughs too, but if you consider Loki’s identity issues, that he didn’t know he was from another species his whole life, that his mind and memories were tampered with by Thanos, it’s actually heartbreaking. But I guess all that doesn’t matter anymore. All that matters is jokes.
I don’t know why I missed the oppressive theme of TVA the first time from trailers. But it’s clear now. Specially from the Miss Minutes introduction of TVA. It kind of reminded me of dystopian books like “1984” and “Mortelle”.
Tumblr media
Blue eye color is canon? I’m OK with it but I prefer green eye color for Loki. I still haven’t forgotten this movie and its posters unlike the show’s creators.
Tumblr media
They made Loki canonically genderfluid. I like it.
When Loki was in the trial, why after he was defeated and arrested by Avengers, he would think that they were trying to stop his success through time travel? What kind of idiotic conclusion is that? Doesn’t he know about Thanos? He was sent by him. Another ooc reaction. Smh.
“Oh, believe me you can smell the cologne of two Tony Starks.”
I laughed so hard at this. Oh, be still my frostiron loving heart! :D
TVA is so absurd. How can people who are unaware of a sacred time line, and an organization that keeps it in line and their own story, are breaking laws if they do sth in contradiction to it!? That’s really irrational.
Why Loki didn’t try to use his powers until the trial? Plot hole!
- “You ridiculous bureaucrats will not dictate how my story ends!”
- “It’s not your story Mr. Laufeyson. It never was.”
Direct hints to stories and how everything supposed to happen according to some gods. Parallels to Loki Agent of Asgard story line. I like it. I hope Loki ends up disrupting all their rules and dictations.
Tumblr media
I don’t understand why Loki would be surprised by how TVA looks like. A thousand year old prince who has seen many planets in his life. We’ve seen other developed planets in MCU that work without magic. Another plot hole imo.
Hated the talky talky scene just like the trailer.
“There’s only one person you can trust.”
Agreed Loki :P :D
“I live within whatever path I choose.”
Good line! AoA parallel.
“You’re just a little pussycat.”
I hate you more and more by the minute Mobius.
After Earth, Loki wants Asgard and the nine Realms? They’re definitely going for a power hungry egotistical characterization. Smh.
“For nearly every living thing, choice breeds shame and uncertainty and regret. There’s a fork in every road, yet the wrong path always taken.”
You expect me to accept Loki without the influence of mind stone is a dictator? The person who literally was saying I choose my own path and story a moment ago, is against choice? This would make sense in Avengers as projecting his situation with Thanos. But free from him? No. It’s ooc. He can be referring to his own mistakes as a result of his choices but even then, he isn’t against choice and freedom. As much as I hate TR, as king he let other realms have more freedom.
Tumblr media
Shut up Mobius. No, he’s enjoying the chaos around him. He doesn’t even look at the guy.
“I’ll do what I want to do!”
Finally! My favorite Loki line :D
“Like you did your mother?”
SHUT UP MOBIUS! WTF! He didn’t send Kurse to his mother or Thor. What Kurse found after he got out of the prison, was the device to the shield surrounding the palace which he turned off. Malekith found Frigga because he was able to locate the Aether in Jane. And Kurse found them on his own. I’ve been in fandom for years and even the most avid Loki haters haven’t said that Loki killed his mother! I thought I couldn’t hate anyone more than Thanos. But Mobius proved me wrong. I hate him with a burning passion. My dear Loki! Did you see his face when he saw his mother’s death? The way he asked about her? His tears?
“You weren’t born to be king Loki. You were born to cause pain and suffering and death.”
Odin: “Wherever you go, there is war, ruin and death.”
I had theorized before the series that Mobius can be a father figure to Loki. Apparently, he is another Odin. Even worse than him.
OK, they have lots of infinity stones and magic doesn’t work in TVA. That answers why everyone suddenly can touch the Tesseract. But where these people come from and what is their species? The show never answered that.
Tom’s performance in the scene where Loki watches his life was fantastic!
Ngl, watching Loki defeating that TVA guard was enjoyable! :D
Theory:
Mobius told Loki, the variant they’re after who is killing TVA agents is Loki. There are two possibilities here.
1.     He is the same Loki, but he has gone in the past to destroy TVA just like King Loki in AoA.
2.     He is another variant.
I really like to see Loki actually destroys TVA. I hate them. I think if that’s going to happen, Mobius would side with Loki learning that TVA aren’t actually good guys.
The hints to Loki’s story and also that “gods to gods” line makes me hope for a story line similar to AoA, where Loki who becomes the god of stories through the series, defeats the Time-Keepers.
Analysis:
The first episode introduced TVA and tried to give us a deeper look into Loki’s psychology through a review of MCU movies. The audience are meant to accept Mobius’ POV-who is a hero coded character- of Loki as truth. But this POV is mostly retcon and inaccurate. Notice how the events of first movie, Loki’s origin story, and also his redemption in TDW where he saved Jane’s and Thor’s lives were completely ignored in favor of the lie the narrative was trying to feed to us. Loki’s actions in Avengers without knowing the first movie and his involvement with Thanos, the torture and mind influence he suffered, don’t make sense. But the narrative explained all of this as Loki being power hungry and in desperate need to control. Yes, Loki wants control. But of his own life when it was taken from him since the first movie that he learned all his life was a lie. He only tried to gain control through hurting people and inspiring fear in Avengers and under mind influence. That isn’t how he acted other in other movies. But those other instances were ignored.
Mobius is the sum of every pro-TR fan who claim they like Loki, but he deserved everything he got because he has done horrible thing. He echoed Odin’s claim in saying that Loki causes pain and death. And he reminded me of TR Thor who put Loki down for who he was and then told him he could be more after torturing and humiliating him. From what it looks like, we’re going to see another redemption story where Loki tries to become better by the help of a hero coded character. Smh. As if we haven’t seen the same story line for Loki again and again and again

The comedy is bad. Like really bad. The scenes that were meant to be funny, seemed exaggerated and overly cartoonish. The only times I actually smiled was when Loki tried to threatened that guy who didn’t know what a fish was and him saying he lost a bet to Thor.
Other than exaggeration in comedy, Tom’s performance specially in emotional scenes is great as always. Loki’s lines are mostly in character and are well-written.
I liked the hints to AoA story line. I’ll be happy if the show ends up like AoA, with Loki accepting himself. Hopefully he burns TVA to the ground along the way.
The episode has both pros and cons. But despite the parts I liked in it, I wasn’t really impressed. The tone and pace of it wasn’t done well and while Loki was in character in many scenes, there were enough inconsistencies in characterization that even created plot holes in some scenes. I give this episode a 6 out o 10 at most and only because of Tom’s performance.
All in all, I think any fan can find sth they like in the show from many appearances of Loki in MCU. But you know the saying. If you try to make everyone happy, you end up making no one happy. I hope the next episodes will be better than this.

so i folded and binge-read lore olympus
im just gonna talk about it cause im bored and there’s stuff i wanna discuss about it. i’ve always been in love with the hades x persephone story (the first version i read was consensual so that’s the one that resonates with me the most)
im gonna start with the good stuff
- i love the animation! the colours are so fun and cool and i like how captivating they are, and the pink of persephone and blue of hades works well together
- i like that the time frame of olympus and the underworld is expedited compared to the modern world, that’s really neat
- the comedic timing is spot on, both the dialogue and animation can be so great and make me laugh to tears
- hades and persphone’s moments can be so tender and sweet, one scene between them that just sticks with me is when they are cooking together, or the first time she asked the names of his dogs and he lit up. they are so soft for each other and it makes my heart so so warm ;-; and i like their banter too
- i like hermes, and artemis, and eros, and basically everybody who’s become a friend in this series, they’re great (ares is an honourable mention bc he’s funny with amazing character design imo)
- the fact that therapy is a thing here??? pls they all need it omg
- the exploration of cycles in different extremes (the cycle of fertility goddesses being used for power, having shitty people around you in turn making you shitty to those you love, the fear of becoming one’s parents, etc)
- i like that none of the characters are “good” or “bad”. as it goes with deities, they are as morally grey as you can get especially in regard to mortals. (with the exception of apollo. i hate his character.)
- i appreciate the discussion of boundaries between hades and persephone, letting fluffy moments just be fluffy and sweet
- their relationship in general has very sweet moments and warms my heart a lot of times
- honourable mentions: baby hades being very worrisome for such a small boy, hades with his stars, hades with his crowns and earrings, hades with his little glasses, hades’ scars. hades. 💕
all in all, it’s a very fun read with many intriguing and cool themes that I love and i’m excited to see how it is concluded
now for critiques
- why did persephone have to be 19/20??? not 119, not 190, that young compared to everyone around her??? i mean even though on our (mortal) terms, she is legal and perfectly capable of making her own decisions. but the issue within most age gap relationships is not primarily the difference in years itself, but the difference in mindset and stages of life (a relationship between a 14 and 18 year old is vastly different from a relationship between a 30 and 34 year old). there doesnt seem to be a point to make her so young and then pair her with a being literally older than death itself, ya know? but that’s just me
- not necesarrily the characters, but more so the reactions to them. why is it that hades, modeled to be a capitalist business owner that keeps the dead souls as slaves and does things that are so cruel (i.e tear out some kids eye for a photograph or threaten an employee for asking for ID) is seen as a precious baby that can do no wrong?? now please understand that I love his character, I adore him!!! but he is no baby, and there is nothing stranger than seeing a morally grey character or straight up villain (who doesnt love a good villain every now and again amirite) be coddled and have excuses made for them while their female counterparts are villainized for the same or lesser offenses, which brings me to my next point
- minthe. she is no saint, and i dont like her all that much. she was petty and catty, and an awful and cruel partner towards hades. however, she is complex in that we see her internal monologue and can see that most of these things come from a place of insecurity and deep rooted issues with herself. not to excuse her behaviour because it is all very immature and lame, but i hope to see an arc from her that allows growth and letting go of being forced to see herself as nothing more than a trashy nymph. and learning to apologize properly
- also why was it funny when hecate smacked him across the face like three times but a crime when minthe hit him upside the head. my point is both were bad, but one gets forgotten and forgiven.
- man why is persephone drawn so mf tiny? i mean it’s cool to be short, but in some frames she’s legit at his waist which is a bit odd since you’re kind of already toeing the line of what is appropriate and what isn’t in their relationship (employer/employee relationship, extreme age difference, somewhat childish nature). i cant lie this feels nitpicky but it’s just so jarring everytime i see it combined with everything else, ya know??
- i dont know if the apollo incident was necessary. i feel the story would have been the same if had just been a pushy jerk trying to marry persephone because she is a fertility goddess for his own advantage. it was just an awful thing that provides very little substance to the plot and made me struggle to read it.
- im still a bit lost on where we are with what’s going on with persephone. when she goes into her “death bringer” state, why does it seem like she’s been possessed instead of it being embraced as who she is? i’d like to see her gain more control of these powers and maybe trained properly by someone so that the next time they are used, they are used with intent and purpose.
- lastly, why is persephone’s growth being stifled? we see her make mistakes, and fall short in certain areas, but i would also like to see her excercise agency and fix things for herself. we only got to see a glimpse of that, but i want more so that she can figure out for herself what and who exactly she is and what she wants without having to think about others and what they need from her. if she is to become the queen of the underworld we want her to be, she doesn’t need to be coddled all the time.
if there is anything more to be added to the conversation, pls feel free too!! i like conversation and this is an interesting topic!

every player is genuinely such a sweet person. like i cannot tell you enough how great they are. theyre thoughtful and they try to learn, and listen if theyve been corrected. they're all so nice to be around. a rly great bunch.
they have lore! it's not super intense, just every few streams or so they do in character stuff. and they let us know beforehand and usually will have lore in the title. and if you're behind on lore, they have a lore document summarizing events so far for people who've missed things! in addition, the events of the christmas arc are on youtube :)
frostbyte freeman's monologues are legitimately a reason you should watch this, mans improvises dramatic ass speeches and heartfelt, real, and raw character arcs and THEN goes on twitter and posts screenshots of a build hes made as part of a character beat and leaves us an emotional playlist with a title in italian
they're all pretty young! the streamers range in age from 13 year old apden to 23 year old mysticat. it's honestly really cool to be watching creators who are younger than me (and who are peers in age with many of my friends) because it feels kind of like I am supporting a younger sibling sometimes. makes me proud. and especially with that in mind, their maturity is astonishing - apden in particular was one of the creators at the forefront of calling out a creator who was scamming and sexually harassing people.
they are Queer !! that I know of there are 4 members who use any pronouns, two gay people, and two bisexuals!
they are funny! frost's weird ass dynamics with literally everyone else make me laugh out loud, mysty has such great comedic timing, deadhawk and longjaws have a really cozy and fun dynamic that fills me with joy, they're all so much fun. wolfeei showing up to a presidential campaign debate wearing a shirtless buff skin. keegan deciding that his detective uniform is a maid dress. bigman walking up to the mic and saying "free my mans he ain't do nothing wrong" in response to wrongfully incarcerated animagician asking which candidates would free him. jack notsouls being a flower loving catboy who thinks that giving flowers to the ominous void rift in the sky is a good idea
the community is really great! we're mostly based on twitter where the creators tend to hang out but its really great being able to easily interact with them and each other, like we have a groupchat there and a discord server! it's a lot of fun and just about everyone in the community is wonderful. it's an interesting mishmash of people from the creators' stream chats/fanbases pre-smp, irl friends, online friends, and people who came because they saw frost's "how the blue bats won mcc 9" video and liked his content and found future that way
they appreciate artists SO much. a bunch of them have fanart reels with credits on their streams, they reply to just about everything, they get so happy to see art you have no idea. they have the custom pictures in item frames plugin on the server so they can hang fanart! they have art by me and by many of my friends on the walls of the government building! hell j even wrote a fic and linked it on twitter and the guy I wrote it about read and approved it! and to top it all off they Commissioned Me to make them their official group picture, like! that's supporting artists baby!!!
you want interesting character designs? they have two frogs, a cat, a penguin, a bird, a tedsattic, an ironstarr, and a literal cookie. rinnly wears a box on their head. dec is a goth. pixelcraftian is a funny little man. john needs a life is a jojo cosplayer. bigman is a snowman. bigman is also the president. the penguin is his secretary of defense.
a handful of them are current or former MCC testers, many of whom met or became testers because they were runner-up mcc 10 applicants, and dec is a noxcrew artist! theyve also participated in smaller events in the community, or even bigger ones, like minecraft ultimate! the upcoming retro rivals event has 4 future smp members on team space invaders (the fact that they didnt put pixelcraftian, the man whose brand is Loving Mario, on the mario team is a crime).
this is a long post but I'm dead serious please check them out!! I'll link their introduction slide show in the notes, which is a good place to start for most of these creators!

❝ comfortable ❞ l.mk
Tumblr media
synopsis → “oh, i’m mark. mark lee.” he gives her a lop-sided grin, reminding you of a high school boy. the kind you would have a crush on.
word count → 3k
a/n → instead of admitting to the fact that this has been in my drafts since october what if i just said i was watching superm interviews and got inspired.. would anyone believe that??? anyway superm on the ellen show was a fever dream lol
your leg bounces nervously as your makeup artist touches up your look and you stare at the tv screen in anticipation. you were finally making your television debut. you knew you were blessed for the wonderful opportunity, especially for how new you were to the music industry.
you had started like nearly every other artist; posting covers on youtube. these were well received and gained a good amount of views and likes but your career really took off when you began creating original content. every time you would release a single, it would make it on the trending page thanks to your growing fanbase and exposure to the general public, who seemed to like you. soon enough, requests to interview you whether it be on radio, tv, or magazines were high and, thanks to your managers, you found yourself in los angeles, backstage in a studio, waiting for the ellen degeneres to introduce you to her live audience and thousands of viewers at home.
“don’t move so much, miss l/n,” the woman trying to apply your highlighter comments. “you’re smudging your makeup.”
you force yourself to sit still as you apologize. “sorry. pre-show jitters.”
the woman smiles, emphatically. “i understand, sweetheart. i would be nervous too.”
you’re quiet for a moment, debating if you should continue conversing with her. “can i be honest?”
she hums as she dabs a beauty blender into your cheek. “go ahead.”
“i am so nervous that i’ll mess up or say something stupid. the only thing close to an interview i’ve ever done was a q&a on my youtube channel. and at least i could edit stuff out then.” you huff. “if i make some kind of mistake on my tv debut, my career will be over before it even started.”
“well, think of it this way,” she says. “you went from a moderately popular youtube channel to the ellen show. that doesn’t happen for no reason. there are people out there who really admire you.”
you chuckle in disbelief. “it’s crazy to think about people actually wanting to see me. i still can't believe it.”
she giggles, softly. “they know there's something worth seeing.” at seeing your small smile, almost as if you were barely realizing your own star status, she laughs. “you seriously gotta wake up, girl. you’re famous!”
you smile at her, finding humor in her words. “thanks for the wake up call.”
you both direct your attention to the tv placed backstage that broadcasted what was happening on stage. you listen in to ellen’s monologue as she tells jokes and addresses current topics. before long, there’s a knock on the doorframe. you half expect a staff member to let you know that you’ll be on soon but instead you hear a quiet, “hello?”
you and your makeup artist both turn to the boy standing in the doorway. he's wearing a black jacket paired with dark, ripped jeans held up by a belt. he goes to bow, then remembers that korean etiquette does not apply and decides to wave as a greeting instead. you reciprocate the gesture. he stands with only one foot inside the room, almost as if he’s too polite to enter without being given the okay.
“did they send you to get your makeup done?” the woman who had done yours says.
he nods. “they said something about concealer and bb cream, i think?”
she smiles. “yeah, it’s basic stuff. come on in. what’s your name, dear?”
“oh, i’m mark. mark lee.” he gives her a lop-sided grin, reminding you of a high school boy. the kind you would have a crush on.
“well, mark lee, i’m lily. i’ll be doing your makeup, making sure you look pretty for the cameras.” she motions to you. “i'm just about done here so i’ll be right with you.”
“okay, thank you.” he shuffles in, his eyes glued to you and you hold his stare. he nods, a wordless greeting as he settles in next to you. in return, you throw up a peace sign and he smiles at your casual behavior.
“you know what? somebody used all the setting spray. i’ll be right back, i’m just going to steal some from my co-workers.” with that, lily darts out of the room.
it’s pure silence between the two of you until you spark conversation. “i didn't get to introduce myself but i'm y/n.”
“i know,” he responds, quickly. “i'm kind of a fan, actually. i mean, it’s practically impossible to not be. you’re all over the place. especially with the new single you dropped... which is a bop, by the way.”
you smile at his simply-worded praise. it was a nice switch up from the professional reviews you received from critics. “that’s so cute. i’m honored.” you miss the way mark’s ears turn slightly pink at your words. “but enough about me, what do you do, mark?”
“oh, me? i’m in the k-pop scene.”
you hum. “that’s a good genre to be in. which group?”
“right now i’m promoting with superm, it’s kind of like a side project. but originally, i’m in a band called nct.”
you lean forward at hearing the familiar name. “nct? as in, nct 127?”
mark’s eyes light up. “yeah! you know us?”
you nod, enthusiastically. “oh my god, yes! you collabed with ava, right?”
“we sure did. are you guys close?”
“i help her write lyrics sometimes.” you lower your voice down to a whisper for dramatic effect. “i wrote the chorus to ‘sweet but psycho’.”
the way mark’s jaw drops is almost comedic. “no way! that song got her famous, dude!” his lips curve into a playful smirk. “just because of that i’m gonna have to get you in the studio.”
you return the mischievous look. “is that a promise?”
“i’m back!” lily announces, giving mark no time to respond. she gives no warning as she spritzs you with the bottle she had gone to retrieve.
you cough, choking on the mist. “no heads up?”
“sorry, dear. you’re on in two minutes, no time to waste.”
you feel a chill go up your spine. it was finally time.
mark nudges your arm. “you okay?”
“a little nervous.” that proves to be the biggest understatement of all time because in reality your heart is doing somersaults.
“hey.” you stare at him, his brown eyes boring into you. “you’ll be fine. there’s nothing to worry about. you got this!”
you smile at his words of encouragement. he cared about you and you find that your heart is pounding for an entirely different reason now.
“i'll be here to cheer you on while you’re out there and i’ll be back when you’re done to tell you how amazing you did, okay?”
you nod.
“now get out there!”
“well, we have a great show for y’all today,” ellen says, clasping her hands together, having just finished her monologue. “i mean, it’s always great but the exciting thing is we have two musical guests today.”
the audience that cheered wildly is shown on screen. you almost forget about the knot in your stomach when you see some people in the crowd wearing shirts with the cover art and quoted lyrics of your last single.
“i see you guys are ready so, without further ado... let’s get started. our first guest is a soloist who has made quite a big name for herself in such a short period of time. she currently has three singles on the billboard charts, her most recent music video is number one trending on youtube, and she has a new ep coming out soon. here for her television debut, please welcome y/n l/n.”
you walk out from behind the stage, a huge smile on your face. the crowd screams and you wave to them until your hands become too occupied hugging the hostess who greets you with open arms and a proud smile. once the hype dies down and your entrance music fades out, you take a seat, opposite of ellen.
“how have you been y/n?”
“amazing,” you respond, letting your hands fall neatly in your lap.
“and why is that?”
you sigh, wistfully. “everything has been going so well for me lately. i mean, i feel like all these doors are opening up for me all of a sudden. i think i finally made it.”
“you’re just barely realizing that?” ellen exclaims.
you laugh, along with the audience. “kind of, yeah. it just all happened so fast.”
“is there an experience that comes to mind where you finally realized how famous you are?”
you try to think for a few moments before your eyes light up. “okay so, i was at a mcdonald’s like, last month and i went through the drive thru and ordered some nuggets and fries. so, i pull up to the window to pay and it’s around 2 a.m. so the cashier guy is super out of it, like he’s not even paying attention to me. finally, he goes to grab my card and he gets a good look at me and just freezes. like, full on shuts down. so i ask him if he’s okay and he nods so i try to hand him my card again but he goes, ‘no, you’re famous, you don’t have to pay’. and in that moment i just knew.”
“hold on, pause,” ellen announces, dramatically. “you’re telling me that you have been nominated as artist of the year, gained over ten million followers on social media and made your national television debut but the thing that really made you say ‘wow, i’m famous’ was a couple of chicken nuggets?”
“ellen, c’mon,” you begin, seriously. “it was a twenty piece.”
“oh, well, that changes everything,” she says, playing along with you, as the audience erupts into laughter.
the rest of the interview goes smoothly, running on jokes and sarcastic energy. you discuss your young age (thus resulting in some of your baby pictures finally being revealed to the world), millennial culture (the crowd went wild when you explained terms such as netflix and chill to ellen who claimed she didn’t understand yet her sly smirk said otherwise) and your upcoming ep (that you would be giving a sneak peek of later on in the show).
you continue chatting once the commercial break is announced and ellen showers you with praises, commenting how young talent never failed to amaze her, although it did make her feel old. you get to thank the hostess and tell her how much you appreciated her sweet words and the opportunity she had given you before the crew is dragging you backstage so you can prep for your upcoming performance.
you’re greeted by a “that was awesome!” and a high five one you get backstage.
you flash mark a full smile. “couldn’t have done it without my hype man.”
just then lily walks in to touch up your makeup.
“and my hype woman!”
she just rolls her eyes and chuckles as she reapplies gloss to your lips.
“seriously though, y/n. why did you have to be so perfect? the bar is all the way up here now.” to emphasize his point, mark raises his arm as high as it will go.
“hey, i only tried hard because you’re up next. you’re a hard act to beat, mark lee. i mean, you’re charismatic, charming, witty; basically every talk show host’s dream.”
he scoffs yet you see how he avoids your gaze, your compliments obviously flattering him to the extreme.
a staff member walks by, cutting your conversation short. “y/n, you’re back on in one. superm is on right after.”
you and mark turn back to each other, speaking the same two words at the same time.
“good luck.”
ellen introduces you again, only this time you hold a guitar and stand in front of a microphone once you’re back on the stage. you perform a never before heard song but judging by the roaring applause and standing ovation you receive by the end of it, it’s another successful hit.
you bask in the amazing response and then you’re ushered backstage for the last time. you catch sight of the staff placing more seats on the stage as you exit and you smile eagerly, knowing exactly what’s to come. you search the hallways for your new friend, hoping you can catch him before the show goes back on air. you’re almost about to give up when you hear your name being called.
you lock eyes with mark who stands a couple feet away, barely hidden from the audience’s view. even from where you stand you can tell he has a nervous smile on his face. you jog towards him and to your surprise, he envelops your figure without a second thought. in return, you tentatively wrap your arms around him.
“great job,” he murmurs, breath fanning your ear. “i really did cheer you on.”
“i’ll make sure to do the same.” you hesitantly pull away from his embrace, holding him at an arm’s length away. “go get ‘em.”
he gives you a determined nod and you watch him rush on stage, the audience’s wild cheering increasing. their energy didn’t fade once throughout the interview and just as you had suspected, mark was doing wonderfully. he clearly thrived in interviews; his awkward, boyish nature enchanting everyone in the studio, yourself included.
ellen crosses her legs and clears her throat. “so, i have to ask you something, you know, for the fans.”
the group leaned forward in anticipation, awaiting her next words.
“are any of you dating?”
the crowd released noises of amusement at hearing the very personal question. you can’t help but feel intrigued although you knew ellen has always been quite the invasive person. you watched as the seven boys looked around at each other, unsure what to say but before their silence can become suspiciously long, mark ends up taking the question.
“why are you always so curious about this, though?” he blurts.
the audience absolutely eats up his response, cheering at his bluntness. even you find it humorous, shoulders shaking with a chuckle. that’s definitely gonna become a meme, you think.
“it’s my job!” counters ellen. “why are you so defensive?”
the crowd is very responsive to ellen’s rebuttal, ‘ooh’ing in amusement.
mark’s silence only pushes the hostess to continue teasing him.
“does it maybe have anything to do with y/n?”
your smile drops. had she seen you two? you’re not sure why you feel so exposed; after all, you had just been talking.
ellen’s lips adorn a sly smile at mark’s stunned reaction. “you seemed to be getting very comfortable with each other backstage.”
the black haired male stumbles over his words before he gets a semi-coherent sentence out. “we just, um—we just met.”
“oh really? you two looked like you had known each other forever.”
mark chuckles breathlessly, eyes glued to his lap, obviously at a loss for words. ellen stares at him expectantly so he mutters, “i like making friends.”
ellen, the audience, and even some of the band members laugh at his response.
“well, i’m sure there’s a lot of fans out there that wish they were your ‘friend’.” her tone makes it clear she doesn’t buy his excuse but she prods him no further, instead turning to stare into the main camera. “when we get back superm will be performing their title track ‘jopping’. during the commercial break, please feel free to place your bets as to how long mark and y/n will remain ‘friends’.”
the camera pans to mark for a couple seconds; his ears are bright red and his cheeks are dusted light pink, his makeup doing nothing to help hide the blush. his eyes dart around, anxiously and then they cut to commercials.
you shake your head, smiling at the entire situation and just how big of a dork mark was.
you attentively watch superm’s two performances, eyes mostly glued to a certain rapper. you sit patiently in the makeup room, waiting for mark to return backstage so you can congratulate him but he never appears. you try to conceal your disappointment, even when lily enters the room, smiling brightly.
“well, the show’s over, doll.” she removes her makeup stained apron and glances at you as she places it on a nearby rack. “hey, why the long face?”
you stare at your reflection in the mirror, no longer bothering to hide your pout now that your frustration had been made known.
“you did great, if that’s what you’re worried about. just ask mark.”
“he left,” you mumble. “i thought i’d be able to catch him before he left and we could
i don’t know, talk a bit more? i just really—” you trail off.
“like him?” lily suggests, too loudly for your liking.
your head snaps towards her, eyes wide, only confirming your feelings.
“don’t worry, dear, you can say it. i won’t tell ellen,” she jokes.
you sigh and slump down in your seat. “yeah. i like him.”
“well, then, i have good news for you.”
you half-heartedly hum, allowing her to continue.
she waves a piece of crumpled paper in front of your face. you grab it from her, staring at it curiously.
“what’s this?”
she nods her head at it, encouraging you to find out for yourself. “open it and see.”
you obey, unfolding the tiny item. your eyes struggle to read the words inside but if you squint, they become clearer.
please call, me i would love to become closer ‘friends’.
(xxx) xxx-xxxx
it’s mark btw :)
you can’t contain your smile at the cute little note.
“he’s adorable,” you say, mostly to yourself but lily audibly agrees.
“he ran into me as he was leaving and begged me to deliver that message to you. which reminds me, i’m supposed to let you know that he wishes he could have stuck around but his schedule is ‘crazy tight’ so he had to ‘dip’. his words not mine.”
you nod, grin widening. “thanks, lily.”
“my pleasure. nothing like young love.”
you give her a glare although it’s all but threatening.
she folds her arms, teasingly. “so, are you going to give him a call or what?”
you’re sure she sees the phone in your hand and the way your fingers press the numbers on the keypad, excitedly but nevertheless, you decide to answer.
“i’d be crazy not to.”

Fic Questions
tagged by @the-lincyclopedia thank you!! (fun game: watch my writing get progressively less formal as the post continues. by the end it’s like what is capitalization)
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
77!
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
434,378 as of this week but it does go up quite regularly
3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Okay so in terms of what’s on my AO3, I have Check Please, All For the Game, Sharp Zero, HP, and Miraculous Ladybug. I also have The Forbidden LOTR and PJO Fanfiction (as in, I’ve written it, but it’s never seeing the light of day)
(technically there is a PJO fic out there that has seen the light of day but I orphaned it because I was tired of getting comments asking about when it would be updated)
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
and then i met you (and the whole world changed)
for the better
Knew It Was You
come home (to you, to us)
sin bin schematics
All of these are Check Please and all of them except Knew It Was You are part of my Zimbits Airport AU!
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I do! It’s actually a very recent thing that I’ve started not responding to literally every single comment. Mainly I respond because I love talking about my writing so I am going to seize that opportunity when it comes up
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Oh, DEFINITELY Happy Birthday (HP). Check out that MCD tag ahah. (I say HP but what I really mean is that I write fic about Regulus Black. The Regulus Black-centric tag is my home in the HP fandom)
fun fact: this is a very short fic that I wrote when I was 15 and basically forgot about until recently, and then I reread it recently and went holy shit?? I pulled NO punches????
7. Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the wildest one you’ve written?
Not a ton? I think a lot of the fandoms I write for don’t really mesh that well. That being said, the aforementioned orphaned PJO fic is actually a PJO/ML crossover, so there’s that
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Nope! Sometimes I get comments that are just.... really confusing? And a more common thing is that in my AFTG fic I’ll get comments from people who are so focused on Andreil (or the most common ships in general) to the point that like. they miss the point of what I actually wrote. Those are annoying but they’re not hate, they’re very enthusiastic, they’re just... enthusiastic about a story I’m not writing? So it’s a bit frustrating.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
No sjflskgjhgf I struggle enough to write kissing, I think if I ever tried to write smut my brain would just shut down. I’ve managed some fade-to-blacks (which are mostly in WIPs that haven’t been posted) but they rely HEAVILY on the powers of implication
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of!
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, although I have occasionally made a brief go of it, not to post, more as an exercise for myself in a language that I’m learning. Anyway I never finish them so I’m gonna say no
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not really? I’ve definitely group brainstormed fics and then written them (the best example of this being Q&A (AFTG), which was the product of a truly off-the-walls group chat), but I tend to do all the actual writing myself. I think the way I write would drive a co-writer up the wall since it’s very disorganized and I don’t write stuff down because ~I know what’s gonna happen I don’t need notes~ and it would infuriate me if I was co-writing with me lmao, so I won’t inflict that on someone else
13. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
I regularly move through ships I’m SUPER focused on, like it’s kind of a rotation. I will forever and always ship Percabeth though.
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Okay so if you follow me at @birlwrites you may know this already, but i have this ‘warmups’ document that is just like, random ideas i get that i don’t necessarily want to finish but i just want to try out for a bit? and i have a rule that once a ‘warmup’ is more than 10 pages long (so 11+) then it has to be moved to its own document, just to make scrolling through the warmups doc easier. but usually, a warmup only passes 10 pages when i’m INTO it. so i have a bazillion wips i will probably never finish. i complain about this a lot. i have so many wips. i don’t need more.
here’s one: it’s titled ‘interrobang doesn’t know they’re dating’, it’s basically a full outline for a chowder/tango fic and it would be SO cool if i could ever like. get around to writing it. but i am constantly swamped with writing projects, so it’s probably not gonna happen. if anyone’s interested in adopting it though i’d be down for that!! i think it’s a fun idea i just almost def won’t write it myself
15. What are your writing strengths?
SNAPPY DIALOGUE AND SNARKY INTERNAL MONOLOGUE. my writing is COMEDIC, 90% of my ideas are based on a funny snippet that popped into my head, a lot of my worldbuilding is based on ‘hey you know what would be hilarious’ (whenever i explain how larai selects a chosen one in the rainfall universe i start laughing, which is a STARK contrast to how it plays out on the page), i love writing funny stuff!!
also i think my writing sounds nice, a lot of the time i pick words/syntax based on sound and flow so there’s that too. and i have lots of ideas! i don’t struggle much with writer’s block because a) i have a lot of strategies to deal with it and b) i have a lot of ideas to help get around it/work with it
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
PHYSICAL INTIMACY LMAO, sometimes in my end notes on shippy fics you can see me complaining ‘it took me literally 4 hours to write that very brief kiss’. also sometimes the humor in my writing gets in the way a bit, i have to very consciously put it away so characters can actually have serious, genuine emotions. also i don’t like outlining and i tend not to get betas for fanfiction so like..... i do my best continuity-wise but having really tightly plotted stories is just not my focus lol. (and i do put more effort into that for original stuff, it’s just fic where i kind of go wild)
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
If the reader’s supposed to know what it means, then writing it in another language is iffy for me. (stuff like terms of endearment which come up a lot in fic are fine imo, you can just put a note in to translate them and your reader will prob remember)
If the pov character isn’t supposed to understand it, and it doesn’t matter if the reader understands it, then ig it’s fine? but unless you already speak the other language (and i am NOT confident in my ability to translate english into literally any other language), then i think it’s way easier to just note that a character’s speaking x language and provide tone indicators, body language cues, etc. so the reader understands as much as the pov character.
That being said there are def times when it’s used super effectively--the dialogue in spanish in cemetery boys comes to mind! that’s not fanfic but it’s still creative writing so w/e
so i guess it comes down to: does actually writing out the dialogue in the other language serve a purpose? if it doesn’t, then you’re filling up the screen with words your reader isn’t likely to understand, which i try to avoid doing
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
so the first fandom i actually *wrote* for was PJO, but i distinctly remember creating warrior cats OCs when i was little. i never actually did anything w them but i had them and my favorite was a riverclan warrior named shellstream i remember this VIVIDLY
19. What’s your favorite fic you’ve ever written?
oh boy. okay so this is hard because i feel like i’m continuously improving as a writer. like in the sense that my writing is getting closer and closer to really matching my own taste? my favorites tend to always be my current projects as a result. and i do really love set those ghosts alight (HP) but it feels a little like cheating to say a fic i haven’t even finished writing yet. even though it’s def not cheating, that’s just the direction my brain is taking it.
i’m gonna say and then what? (OMGCP) because i’m super proud of the prose (especially ch 2 aka the first actual prose chapter), survived by (HP) for SUCCESSFULLY WRITING AN EMOTION and making readers cry :), and Q&A (AFTG) because i’m literally the one who wrote it and yet it still makes me wheeze. those are all fics i reread occasionally, because i’m big enough to admit i enjoy rereading my old stuff! (just like. to a point. some of my old stuff i can’t look at anymore because all the mistakes stick out to me like they have spotlights shining directly on them)
this was fun!! i’m gonna do an open tag because i just started my fall semester and brain tired. i know sometimes people see open tags and assume the op didn’t really mean it but I MEAN IT, PLEASE DO THIS AND TAG ME!!!!! YES YOU READING THIS
