A Whiskey Lullaby (A Cruel Life)
Natasha Romanoff x Reader
Heavily Inspired by:
Warnings: Neglect (All Kinds) | Alcoholic Nat | Sick R | Death (Romeo & Juliet, but make it sapphic - Cancer / Suicide) | NonCannon IW/EG Allusions | Happy Ending (all Things Considered) | WC: 1,604
You were tired. You always were now that you knew you were dying. The doctor said at least a year but they were too enthused; lying to you, because it was only two months since then and you knew very well that the day you die is here.
And now â You wanted to talk to your wife, to get to maybe share one more dance beneath the stars but she wasn't available. She hadn't been for awhile, before you stopped running from your fate. The drinking started a month before, the lying and constant evasion came next. Natasha was mad at you, and you were dying. Dying to know why, dying to hear her say I love you one last time, but, she was dying to strangle you, to take you before the cancer.
ââ
Dying to know why, and as she laid on the couch with a puddle of beer staining the carpet you told her, "There's never a right time to say goodbye my dear, and I hope you'll forgive me in due time for leaving you this way." Forgive you for what? She'll never know because she was too drunk to hear you verbalize what she already knew was in your heart (and lungs).
Cancer took you and the world mourned first.
Natasha woke up to the deafening silence. Not even the birds were singing. The dead leaves not falling, and you weren't answering her pleas. Natasha crumbled to her knees beside the bed. Her guilt laced grief rattling through the cracks in the walls she'd recklessly built.
The bright leaves fell then. As did your limp hand from hers when she felt the chilled skin.
The redhead stumbled from your room and sent Yelena a text, "Izvini." (Sorry). Then she returned with a poisoned bottle of whiskey.
Natasha failed to love you like she solemnly promised (vowed). She let grief consume her. The waste of time drinking started the moment that she knew you were leaving her behind. It wasn't the actualityâthe cruel world taking youânope, it was you, breaking a sacred promise.
To stay with her til the end, hers; not yours.
How could you take her lifeline away? Then actually expect her to breathe right some day?
Natasha wouldn't give you that satisfaction.
You neglected yourself for the sake of her for years. Not complaining of pain when she was met with financial problems after Tony died and his estate froze the Avengers funds until they could unveil his final will and testament.
During the blip she was running out of money every time she thought she stood a chance at bringing you back; you, who was already sick.
A daughter lost her father, a wife her husband. Millions were brought back from extinction, surely it counted for something, but what did all of the sacrifice mean if she lost you too?
Her mind plays a loop of every time you'd coughed while you were on the run with her. Never near a hospital long enough to tell her that something was wrong, because you would never risk losing her to Ross as you got cured.
She would have turned herself in to Tony for him to swear to it you were covered. The man loved you enough to put differences aside, and Ross wasn't stupid enough to let you die.
Natasha would have survived because she would have gotten you back eventually. She was well known for her ability to make herself disappear and return when the time is right.
Timing was always tough for you two. Like when you missed the first date because you saw someone in need and tended to them instead.
You felt peace for a glorious few seconds.
Then once you realized you blew the redhead off you ran around the city on a mission. It started with you getting wine, then a pizza and ended with you pleading with the owner of the flower shop to unlock the door, and then once more pleading with a fist at Nat's front door.
You knocked, and knocked until she opened. You handed her the smushed up tulips in a rash wave of anxiety and she spluttered the petals from her lips and stared at you blankly. Green eyes holding a grudge against her perfect match, a foolish wager to take a chance on.
Natasha's anger nearly blew it, but you beat her with your rushed words: "I'm sorry for missing our date Natasha. I love pasta, and you too."
Natasha's eyes widened and you shrugged with a playful smile. "Surprise if you didn't already know! It was unrequited love in the start babe," you reminded her and she pouted. You flashed her an even dreamier smile, "But it worked out in the end," and teased her with a smug wink.
"It did, didn't it?" Natasha smiled and planned to kiss you breathless, to seal the deal of your hearts greatest desires. Then you ruined it.
Well, at least partially... Halting her game.
"I don't actually apologize though, because I couldn't leave that little boy crying beneath the dimmed streetlights of a ruthless city. He clung to me before I even saw him, so I put on my hero cap and helped him to find his mother."
Natasha's dagger eyes twisted into hearts.
"After four blocks of searching I heard her calling for Dylan, the little stinker lifted his head and cried. His mother was on me in an instant and only refrained from punching me when she saw I was an Avenger. If it were me I still would've swung. But she didn't. Only took a photo then thanked me in a rush to fame."
Natasha watched you in amusement as your face revealed your thoughts first, you scoffed humorously at that, it was just peculiar to you because: "If you share that story, all you are saying is 'I'm the mom who lost sight of my toddler in the streets of a devious New York.'"
You went to catch your breath, but the redhead needed you to stop blabbing, so she pulled you into a kiss that took your next to last breath.
Then she had to go and silence you to never have to face the ramifications of the true last breath. It left your lips while she slept in torment, her dreams were always cruel now.
As she took the last sip she sighed, because at this time she'd be escaping the wake up call.
Natasha shed a relieved tear, her dulled eyes closed and the empty bottle in her hand slipped onto the ground and shattered. The birds cried and the trees stood barren. The sun that just rose eventually set. Your lifeless bodies connected like lovers unlike they'd been prior.
That doomed night, the angels and birds sang in a practiced symphony; a whiskey lullaby.
The world lost two more heroes in the aftermath. Everyone mourned, Yelena buried you both beneath the willows, and cried as she yelled at you two for being so selfish. Laura clung to the blonde because now she was down a husband and sisters, by blood and marriage.
Yelena gave into the reality that this was all the family she had left. Losing the same sisters left them bonded now, in a morbidly unfair way.
It was frivolous really, to grieve the loss instead of celebrate the conquered life. They cry out; but to a void, neither of you could hear the mourning; eternally booked and busy.
Too busy rejoicing in your afterlives together.
Natasha got a second chance at loving you.
She'd found you in a field, out of breath from all the racing to get to you, but also because you were glowing brighter than ever before. Wearing a vivacious smile and looking pretty.
Much like when she found you earth-side she crumbed to her knees, sobbing. But this time her tears were a mix of bitter joy. You quickly shushed her though, and pulled her to her feet and right into a deep, meaningful kiss. It was free of sin, but the deviants would get off to it in a porno because they'd feel the authenticity.
The love was palpable and renewed. She cried into your mouth but you continued smiling.
"I'm sorry," Natasha whispered into the warm skin of your neck. Not like blood pumping beneath skin, but more so a sensational bliss. "I ruined our happy ever after moya lyubov'."
"Don't be sorry Natasha," you refuted her while spinning her around by your grip on her hips. Forcing her to see the dreams you shared in front of her. Day flashed to night and you spun her around beneath the light of the moon.
When you finally stopped spinning her she fell into your arms in a graceless way she detested. Her brows furrowed once again but you kissed her lips and devilishly distracted her mind. Pulling away you gasped, then smiled so soft that she finally deemed this moment reality.
You were her angel always, but you were finally free of the cruel restraints of a limited world. Natasha jumped and you caught her, she wrapped her arms around your neck, her legs mirroring them around your waist. You pecked her lips then said: "We lived that life full of regrets, always forgiving, but unable to forget. Let's save the now for absolution, we're free."
"In paradise baby," Natasha cheered and the sun set. Then it rose without conditions, and you lived out your dreams with your lover.
Eternity was kind to you, oh the places your love could've gone if only life had been too.

Before Steve could even open his eyes, he could feel the soft breeze brush his cheek. The soft grass beneath him cushioned his back as he took a deep breath of fresh air. He almost didn't want to open his eyes, it was so peaceful just laying here, calm, comforting.
When he did finally open his eyes again he blinked up at a bright blue sky above him, he could see the branches of the trees swaying in the wind. The woods were so quiet that he could hear birds chirping in the distance.
It was perfect, well, almost.
"There you are dingus! What're you doing laying on the ground?"
"Just enjoying a moment of peace before you got here, Robbie."
Robin face was bright as she laughed, her hand reaching down to pull him up. Now standing, Steve wrapped her in a tight hug which she returned wholeheartedly.
"I remember when these woods were a lot scarier."
"Don't worry, Steve, no more monsters."
"Yeah, no more monsters. Hey, is he here?"
His question was answered by another pair of arms wrapping around his middle.
"Stevie! Birdie here has been soooo annoying."
"Oi! I'm a joy to be around!"
Steve giggled watching his old friends bicker, it felt like coming home. Eddie grabbed their hands and lead them through the clearing out to the edge of the woods. The three of them sitting down and watching the sun slowly slip behind the horizon.
"Did you watch them while I was gone, Stevie?"
"Everyday, Eds. Knew you would hate it if I didn't say hello."
Eddie smiled softly wrapping his arm around Steve's shoulder while Robin rested her head on his other side.
"Do you think Nance is watching them now?"
"Course she is, Robs, wouldn't miss it."
"How long do you think we'll be waiting for her then?"
"Oh knowing our Nancy it'll be awhile."
"Well, we've waited this long, plus there's so much to show you, Stevie."
"Can't wait, we've got eternity to see it all."
"Yeah, yeah we do."
Steve closed his eyes again as darkness finally fell upon the forest, finally, no more monsters.

Toxic Werwolf Ex.Bf X Gn. Reader
Decided to get back into writing but more into stuff that Iâm into because I think im like maybe semi decent⊠idk you guys tell me
Tw: Toxic relationships, Blood mention, Nsfw mention, Drinking, slight yandere themes.? Think thatâs about it
You had been broken up with your ex for awhile. It wasnât a shocker to most he treated you like trash and and made it his goal to bully you in front of his pack mates at all time, that paired with the fact that anyone around you could see you were unhappy with the relationship people were just counting down the days till you guys broke up.
Which lead you to where you were right now wearing your skimpiest outfit your friends could shove you into and sitting at this bad with your friends. Donât get it wrong you were all for the free drinks this cute harpy was providing you with but it just didnât feel the same. With a bit more encouragement from your friends you find your grinding up against him in a secluded corner.
You were laughing a bit your body feeling light with the alcohol in your system. You turn to face him your arms draping over his shoulder feeling his hands roam over the nice landscape of your ass. Feeling a bit more confident you let go and decide to have some fun you deserve that much at least. You mange your pull his head down placing a soft kiss on his lips. He smiles a bit before diving back into the kiss.
Maybe you were absorbed in the kiss or maybe it was the alcohol but you didnât hear the step until he was behind you. You jump at the sudden feeling of a hand on you wrists a hand you know all to well. You turn not at all surprised to see your Ex looking as pissed as ever. The smell of alcohol came of him in waves; you scrunched your nose a bit attempting ti pull your arm back.
âWell looked what we have here, should have known a slut like you would take the first chance available to whore yourself outâ he leered looking down at you through clenched teeth. You looked to him more specifically his canines looking just as sharp as ever, you could almost feel a phantom pain on your neck just looking at them.
The harpy standing behind you decided to finally intervene with a a leisurely tone he spoke âwoah hey man, letâs not call people names nowâ he reached over and attempted to remove his hand from you only for a deep snarl to be released from your Exâs throat. âShut it bird brain this has nothing to do with you why donât I go give you something shiny and you go fuck offâ he growled squeezing his hand around you tighter his nails breaking into your skin a bit.
You let out a whimper as you move to squirm out of his grasp only for him to let out a warning growl. Refocusing in you. âWhy donât you just fucking come back already, you had your fun already whatever stupid shit youâre upset over right now Iâm sorry now letâs goâ he spoke in a low tone. âIâm done with you, you donât even know what youâre apologizing forâ you seethed wrenching your arm out of his grasp and cradling it towards your chest.
âYou heard them knot head why donât you just go chase a ball or better yet your tailâ the harpy mocked pulling you closer to them as they went to inspect your wound muttering out soft words as the use feather light touches to check. You stand there almost in a peaceful state at care the harpy was showing you completely forgetting about the werewolf.
Until he lounged at the the harpy, pouncing and and holding down the male as he thrashed around trying to get the upper hand. All while your your Ex smiled in an almost sadistic way feeling the way the harpy blood cover his hands. Once he felt as though he had his fill he stood up turning towards you with a glint in his eye.
âOh cmon donât tell me your scaredâ he spoke as you backed up a bit looking up to him in fear. âYou were speaking in such a righteous manner just a second ago whereâd that goâ he smirked look down at you. âPoor poor little mate Iâll excuse you this time maybe you just donât know your place yetâ he quickly threw your frozen form over his shoulder placing a quick seat over your ass as he walked out the bar.
âDonât worry we have all night for you ti get just where your place isâ
âââââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
How was that I literally havenât like written written in what feels like ages so this was fun. I have tons of thoughts so I would be open to doing more of this they all need names though I do have some appearance ideas for both of them though and ummm yah thatâs all I guess toon in for more ^^

What a shame, what a waste of a weekend night,
All alone here, you're so far out of sight,
Distantly calling out my name,
Come to me darling, what a shame.
Two peas in a pod, birds of a feather,
What a shame that we just can't be together,
Shadowed love, seeing twinkles in your eyes,
Hold me so close, hold me tight.
Dancing in the dark, lonely stares from the eyes,
Softly spoken whispers of a treacherous goodbye,
Then a crash, what a shame for my mask to fall,
Sorrow dances, splendidly, slipping out to the hall,
So elegant and beautiful, all it takes is one touch,
Can we keep on dancing? Will it ever be enough?
Can you feel the rhythm? Can you feel my soul?
Heart beats faster, but where can we go?
Sorrow sees the tears I leave, holding me so close,
I see the pain, I know it hurts you to see me so,
Please don't blame me for how sorrow moves,
You cant help me, they know all my roots,
You're in the way, I don't want anymore goodbyes,
Sorrow is sporadic, creeping through our lives,
Tug of war, back and forth, ripping at the seams,
I promise to visit, you'll see me in your dreams,
Sorrows dance goes on and on, a never ending show,
I hear your warnings, pleadings, please don't go,
Your voice is angelic, I feel it deeper in my mind,
Please say you need me, is it already that time?
I wish this wasn't who I am, it's not who I want to be,
Locked in a cage, and it's filling, as far as I can see,
You wipe away my tears, please take me by the hand,
You keep on talking, I think you finally understand,
Gifts of peace, jealousy of a once happy life,
Gripping tighter, it's in the air tonight,
I can feel your heart again and again with me
Please, oh God, please, just set me free,
I feel your breath, your fingers trace my skin,
Compliments and pleasantries begging to come in,
Your comfort and sorrows chaos all at war,
I don't want this, always begging you for more,
Words crash to the ground like bullets from the sky,
You really think you can save me? Who better than I?
Reassurance, laughs and a soft hearted smile,
This war is going on forever, we only have awhile,
Sorrow pulls the strings of my quartet,
You cut them down, covered in a cold sweat,
Can we really win this? Can we really leave?
I want to escape, I know where we can be,
Thank you for the assistance, thank you for the help,
I said no more goodbyes hun, you know the pain I felt,
I see it creeping into you, I see it just the same,
So we flip the coin of you and I, damn, what a shame.
Once a beautiful smile, now gritted in the depths,
Is this really how I sounded? Peace after death?
Please just listen to me, please just come back,
I know all of sorrows moves, collecting their plaques,
You don't have to take this burden, not all alone,
I know the pain I've caused, I know what I've shown,
If I could take it back I would, regret is the worst,
Reach out to me, anyone, we know you're not the first,
Can you feel me with you? Can you hear my voice?
What did sorrow tell you? I know it's not your choice,
The void is darkness and misery all entwined,
Prayers and hope for anything, the stars aligned,
It starts small, but I can see it, eating at your flesh,
Please stay with me, please don't go to rest,
I know I'm being selfish, I can see all the signs
The pain we all cause, human nature's not divine,
I can cut the ropes, I can bring you out,
Take the first step, I'll build a bride, lose the doubt,
Come to me darling, what a shame,
Distantly calling out your name,
Two peas in a pod, birds of a feather,
What a shame that we just can't be together,
Shadowed love, seeing twinkles in my eyes,
Hold you so close, hold you tight.
I see the haze around us, don't know if we can stay,
Carry our war with us, couldn't have it any other way,
Leaning for support, lovingly goes on the name,
We won't slip, or back track, Sorrow lost this game.

Can I request a reader Who IS deaf or blind and she have just met Bo by stopping accidently by Ambrose?
Im curious what kind of relationship would have those two and how It would develops.
~Regards
(Iâm gonna be using Y/N despite my hatred for it, itâs just easier to fit into my writing style. Also, I kinda got wrapped up in this, I hope itâs alright still.)
Content Warning: Discussion of murder and asking for a fanbelt during a funeral.
Y/N tapped the cane on the dirt road she walked on. âOf course they left me. Bunch of...mmph.â She stopped herself from cursing as she felt the ground with the cane. Her cousin had essentially been forced to bring her with a group of friends, her cousinsâ mother insisting on such. Margret, Y/Nâs cousin, was always a bit annoyed by her presence, especially after Y/N had come to live with them. To put it bluntly, Margret treated her like a burden, the entire group did. Y/N said nothing about it. It wouldnât have helped. Theyâd stopped off the side of the road when the sun was going down. Camping out seemed like a good idea, that was, until Y/N woke up. She had a new message on her Nokia, her cousin saying they had to find a town, but they didnât want to wake her up. The text to speech describing a smiley face was more mocking than anything. So, she was left walking down a dirt road in the hot Louisiana sun, with only her dress, phone, and cane.
Y/N stopped when she felt her cane slide off rocks and she heard the sound of water. She lifted the cane up and tapped around a bit more. In the water was a stone, she lifted her sundress skirt and attempted to step on it. She felt around again, sighing when she managed to find another stone. The young woman took things slow in order to avoid slipping. She did a little jump once she felt the road again, mentally patting herself on the back for not getting her shoes wet. Y/N continued walking. On the bright side, wherever she was, it sounded rather peaceful. Clearly surrounded by trees, birds made sound and she could hear the hum of bugs in the heat, rustling of leaves in the slight breeze. It was a lot nicer to hear than the loud laughter of people who wanted nothing to do with her. While Margret was somewhat subtle with her discomfort with Y/N, her friends werenât. Theyâd mutter and whisper little jokes and insults while she was near by. As if she couldnât hear them. It wasnât uncommon to Y/N, unfortunately. Typically, what she got was either pity or softly spoken insults. People would either snicker off to the side or talk to her like she was a frightened rabbit.
Being visually impaired wasnât great, sure. It made a lot of things difficult, admittedly. Especially since the world wasnât necessarily catered to the disabled. Finding things with braille writing was hard and having to find things based on textiles or audible sounds could prove difficult in certain situations. However, Y/N managed fine. She could handle herself fairly well, only struggling every once & awhile. So when people spoke to her like she was something fragile and easily frightened, it bothered her. But she tended to hold her tongue. She didnât want to rock a boat when it wouldnât fix anything, it was easier to brush it off most times.
The woman felt the ground begin to smooth out slightly. She could determine it was no longer dirt road and more like pavement now, old pavement though. She tapped a bit on the ground before she gasped at the feeling of something cold hitting the exposed part of her leg. She tilted her head down, listening for a give away. A jingle of metal and the light tap of claws. âHello?â Then the sound of sniffing, the feeling of a lick to her hand. âOhâŠoh hello, goodness you scared me. Who might you be.â She spoke softly, smiling a bit as she attempted to pet the animal. It allowed her too, leaning into her palm. Short but soft fur, floppy ears. There were specific dips in the face and the muzzle was a dead give away. âOh I know this face. Youâre a pit bull, huh? You a cute little doggie, hm?â Y/Nâs voice picked up a little in pitch. She could hear the dog get more excited as it pressed its nose to the back of her hand.
Y/N crouched down and felt for the collar. She traced her fingers to the tags. âOkayâŠ.thatâs a J. O. M? No, no thatâs an N, S, E, annnd a Y. Jonesy? Is that your name, honey?â She laughed when the dog let out a low trill, something that could be confused for a growl. âWell thatâs a lovely name. Say, could you lead me a little? Iâve never been here.â Y/N doubted the dog could really understand her, but she could use the jingle of the dog tags to lead her a little. It would help at least a little. So, when the dog walked forward, she followed, using her cane to keep track of the ground. Though she couldnât see any of it, Y/N had entered a town, a small one. Charming, likely built to only hold a couple hundred people. There was the faint sound of church music, and as she moved closer, she heard the chatter of people. However, it made her frown when she could pick out her cousinâs boyfriend. Having no sight made a lot of her other senses more intense, her hearing being the main one she relied on. So, even though she was probably a few yard away still, she could hear what they said. Comforted by the presence of her new puppy friend.
âLook man, we really didnât mean to interrupt, we didnât know there was a funeral going on.â The young man said. Margretâs best friend, Destiny gasped quietly. âGuys, Margretâs cousinâs here.â She whispered quickly. âHow the fuck did she manage- okay. Just, shh, be quiet.â Margret muttered back.
Y/N sighed to herself and stopped a few feet away. Margretâs boyfriend, William, cleared his throat awkwardly. âBasically, we found out we need something in our engine and our fan belt broke.â He said. Y/N frowned and rested both her hands on the end of the cane. âA fanbelt? Seriously? You interrupt a funeral for a fuckinâ fanbelt?â A new voice, masculine with a thick southern accent hit Y/Nâs ears. It was pleasing but she could hear his frustration, understandable. Sheâd be pissed too if someone cut into a funeral because they needed something that couldâve waited. âWe really didnât mean too. We justâŠwanted to get it quickly, so we wouldnât be leaving my cousin for too long.â Margret motioned awkwardly to the woman dressed in a sundress, a black & white dog at her side. âYou see, sheâs blind, and we didnât want her to-â
âIâm blind and I waltzed my way down a dirt road for miles because you all left me. And Iâm fine. For the sake of not making yourself look worse, donât try and explain why you had a reason for interrupting a funeral.â Y/N sighed tiredly. âSir, uh, wherever you are. I apologize for the intrusion they made. Please, by all means, take your time in the church. Itâs important. More so than a fan belt.â She explained to the stranger patiently, hearing them sigh. âDonâ worry bout it. Iâll finish up here and Iâll meet yâall by the station.â He said. The group of young adults muttered awkward thank yous and apologies as the stranger walked back to the church. Y/N could feel eyes on her after the church door closed again. âWe were gonna come back.â Destiny spoke. âMhm.â Y/N replied lazily. âLetâs just go to the station and wait for the dude. If we piss him off heâll probably rack up the bill a shit ton.â William replied. Y/N listened for the direction of their steps before she followed. She smiled to herself when she read the jingle of Jonesyâs dog tag. Glad the pup was still following her.
When the group was at the station, Y/N felt around and felt the gasp pumps. She sat down beside them in the shade. She could hear Margret, Destiny, William, and the other two college kids speak to each other around the station. She frowned when the sound of a bell gave away the fact one of them opened the station door. Going in without permission from the owner. Y/N felt Jonesyâs head rest in her lap, she stroked the dogâs ears gently. âThese kids have no idea what manners are.â She whispered to the dog. It was about thirty minutes around waiting, much to the dismay of the group. Aaron & Dustin, the other two, had decided to break off and explore while the other three waited for the stranger to come back. Eventually, Destiny decided to follow them. Going to look at some âHouse of Waxâ that was supposed to be a tourist trap. Y/N remained quiet as Margret & William complained and flirted with each other, petting Jonesy in quiet. She managed to find peace in the sound of the breeze, the small snorts from the dog in her lap, and the continuous hum of cicadas. Despite the occasional snide comment William made at her expense. Even if it werenât for that, Y/N would still call him an asshole, a jock type that peaked in high school, a clichĂ© really.
âI see you found my dog.â
Y/Nâs head tipped up at the sound of the strangerâs voice. That southern drawl causing a stutter in her heartbeat, more than sheâd like to admit. âOh, are they yours? They found me on the edge of the town. Felt the tag, I like the name Jonesy. Itâs cute. Theyâre a pitbull, arenât they?â She asked. The man chuckled. She hummed when he didnât speak. âIf youâre nodding, I canât tell.â She said with a small smile. âOh, uh, right. Yeah sheâs a pit.â The woman chuckled under her breath at his stutter in confidence. âDonât worry, people tend to nod as an answer on reflex, they donât really think about it.â She heard him hum and step closer, then the shuffle of fabric. Probably crouching down to get closer to her. Y/N tended to speak softly with a bad habit of mumbling, he probably got closer to hear you better. âWhatâs your name, doll?â The pet name nearly made her squeak in surprise. She smiled instead and told him. âWhatâs yours?â ââM Bo. Donât ask what itâs short for, I wonât tell ya.â His response made her laugh again.
âNice to meet you, Bo. I apologize again for the intrusion. My cousin Margret & her friends arenât necessarilyâŠconsiderate.â Y/N sighed. Bo adjusted his hat. âI picked up on that.â He replied. âMind if I ask what they meant? Needinâ to get back to ya?â He watched her scoff and roll her irises. They were different, beautiful but fogged over. It was hard not to stare at them in fascination, though he was doing that with her entire face.
âMargretâs mother forced her to take me. They think I spend too much time in the house. I like being at home, cleaning & cooking in a familiar environment. Margretâs never necessarily liked me. She tries to keep it subtle but she fails miserably. Basically, Iâm annoying. Iâm a burden because I occasionally need someone to warn me about something in front of me so I donât smack into it. Her friends donât like me either. Williamâs the most blunt. This entire trip theyâve been whispering and gossiping about the fact I canât see. Iâm used to it, even if itâs upsetting.â Y/N took a breath before clearing her throat. âAnyway. We stopped to camp out because it was getting dark, when I woke up, they were gone. Margret at least had the courtesy to send me a message but that didnât make me feel much better. So, I just started walking. Managed to find this place by chance.â
Boâs brow furrowed. âThey left ya because youâre blind?â He asked. Y/N shrugged. âBasically. Iâm a burden to everyone because I need help every now and then, basically. Itâs sooo fun.â She snorted. âIâm used to it. Itâs more annoying than anything else.â Bo huffed. âI would be pissed off if I were you. Buncha asshole kids, if ya ask me. Whereâs the rest of âem?â He asked. âWent snooping. Margret & William are in your station, because theyâve never heard of waiting. I overheard a little, apparent a guy gave them a tow and set their car into your garage. They said something about him being a âfreak roadkill collectorâ. Which, again, assholes! Roadkill drivers are kinda necessary to keep deer bodies from blocking traffic.â
Bo quirked a bit of a smile. It was nice to hear someone refer to his brother, even if unknowingly, with some kindness. âGotâcha. Here, why donâtâcha come inside while I take a look, hm?â Y/N smiled softly. âThatâd be nice. Uhm, mind helping me up? I donât want to smack into something in front to a handsome stranger.â She grinned slyly. Bo snickered and stood up. He took her outstretched hand and Jonesy moved on que. He watched her set her cane in place. âHm. Soft hands for a working man, you moisturize. Good man, a definite green flag.â Her comments managed to make him laugh, genuine oddly enough. It wasnât easy to get that out of him. âIâll keep that in mind. Câmon, letâs get you in the air conditioning.â
Y/N waited in the shop as Margret & William listened to Boâs words. The occasional clang and clicking of him looking at the car parts. âNew fan belt, your oil needs changed, you need coolant. Thatâs just three things I see from under the hood. Whenâs the last time you took your car in?â Bo asked the young man. William crossed his arms. âI know about cars.â He said. Bo rose an eyebrow and wiped his hands on a stained rag. âNot what I asked, bud. But whatever. Iâll fix those things, itâll run you bout 100$ even, assuminâ nothinâ else needs to be done.â He said. Margret winced and placed her hand on Williamâs shoulder. âUgh, fine. Just fix it.â Bo shrugged and turned, he heard the two young adults whisper to each other. He glanced at them, seeing them turned away from him.
âJust let him do it so we can leave. This town gives me the creeps.â Margret huffed. âI donât need some redneck dumbass telling me how my car works.â William replied. Bo clenched his jaw, taking a glance at Y/N, seeing her frown. âYou kids waltzed into a town and interrupted a church service, and this man is nice enough to still fix your car for a fair price, and you wanna insult him? Honey, get the city skyscraper outta your ass and be grateful. Weâre in the South, he couldâve shot you in your city boy face by now.â The woman retorted.
Bo bit the inside of his cheek to fight the urge to grin. As much as he hated to admit it, this woman was funny. William grumbled something in response. âYou canât talk to my boyfriend like that!â Margret exclaimed. Bo watched it unfold. Y/N huffed and rolled her eyes again, he found it a bit funny she managed to put so much sass into two organs that didnât even work. âI really donât care.â She admitted. âYouâre lucky we even brought you, Y/N. You could be stumbling around at home alone, smacking into things if it werenât for us.â
Y/N laughed for a moment. âMargret, Iâm blind, not incompetent. I can handle myself just fine. Cut your pity-bullshit, I donât need it. Both of you, check your manners for gods sake. Is it just your age that makes you feel entitled to be little dickheads? Let Bo fix your car, if he even wants to at this point, so we can leave and let him do what he needs to do. At this point youâve made this more trouble than itâs worth.â She scolded. She wasnât that much older than them. The group ranged from twenty up to twenty three. Y/N rester at twenty eight, and for some reason that seemed to make a world of difference. Boâs steps alerted them to him getting closer. âI can have it done in âbout an hour. Youâre welcome to look âround while I work.â He explained. Y/N sighed as Margret & William agreed to leave the station, she followed, assuming the man wanted to be alone, understandably.
âNot you, dollface.â Boâs voice made her stop. She turned to face him, a small smile gracing her face. âYou want me to stay?â She asked with a head tilt. âNot everyday you get pretty and funny company in a ghost town.â The southerner said, she could hear his smug grin in his voice. She laughed quietly and stepped away from the door. âMr. If I didnât know any better, Iâd say youâre flirting with me.â Y/N replied. She stopped when she felt him in front of her, tilting her chin up confidently. âDepends, is it workinâ?â She snorted. âMaybe a little.â Bo chuckled at her response. Internally, he cursed himself for enjoying it so much, her interactions with him were far more genuine than any usual tourist. This had happened a few times in the past, but certainly not to this extent.
She waited in the doorway while he worked on the car. They spoke about random subjects, ranging from music taste to hobbies. Flirting occasionally and casually. Admittedly, it helped Y/Nâs confidence. And then somehow, the conversation dipped into personals. She learned Bo had two brothers, one being a wax sculptor and the other being the roadkill driver that towed the car there. She learned that Vincent, one of his brothers, was his twin. In return, Y/N told her about her family, how she came to stay with her cousin instead of on her own. Main reason being jobs werenât easy to come by in her town. Bo looked at her and hummed curiously. âIf ya donât mind me askinâ, did you transition into being blind, or was it justâŠalways a thing? Donât answer if itâs personal.â
âNah, I get asked that a lot. I love the way you worded it though, lot nicer than others. I wasnât born blind, no. But my vision started going when I was pretty young. I was full blind by the time I was twelve, since Iâm twenty-eight now, itâs been awhile. It was tougher back then than it is now, for sure. I manage fine now. Itâs a bit of a struggle with certain things. Iâm not allowed to drive, gotta walk everywhere. Gotta act like a bat to get around places that are unfamiliar. When people leave shit in the middle of the floor Iâm more likely to trip than your average joe.â She snickered, leaning on the wall behind her. âMy hearing and hands do me justice though.â
Bo hummed as he wiped his hands. He wasnât fixing the car, unbeknownst to her. Rather stripping the smaller parts that he could manage to grab. âHowâd ya manage to figure out Jonesy was a pitbull?â He asked. âEasy, pitties have a distinct face shape. And I came accustomed to that face shape easily. When I was younger, when I could still see, we had a pitbull. Even back then I would always rub his face. Pitties love face rubs. Humans? Not so much.â She chuckled. Bo hummed and walked a bit closer to her, shoving the hand towel into his pocket. âThatâs right, you gotta feel someoneâs face to get an idea of what they look like, huh? âŠwhyâd you call me handsome if ya canât see me?â The brunet questioned. The woman shrugged. âCan just tell. Handsomeness doesnât come down to faces for me, but if you want, I could touch my mitts all up in your grill.â She wiggled her fingers jokingly. Bo snorted. âAlright. Go for it, doll.â âYou serious? Huh, people usually donât agree to that. Alright, just warn me if I get too close to your eyes or mouth. I donât wanna stab your cornea, have you end up like me.â She stepped forward. Bo chuckled and it gave her a cue as to where to stop.
She held up her hands. âGotta guide me a little here, mister.â Y/N said fondly. Bo took one of her palms and brought it to his cheek. He wasnât entirely sure why he agreed, maybe to get her closer, maybe out of pure curiosity. She rested her hands on his cheeks first, slowly and methodically rubbing her fingertips over specific features. âSharp jaw, little scar. You been punched before, hm?â His snicker gave away the answer. âDefined cheekbones, you got dimplesâŠhm. Scowl lines though. You got tension lines between your brows too. Youâre an angry man, arenât you Bo?â She asked bluntly with a sense of calm. âYou tell that by some lines in my face?â The man asked. Y/N traced the plane of his cheekbone.
âYour face gives away a lot, even if I canât see it. Iâm not judging, but I can tell. Youâre an angry man, quick to temper. I imagine itâs a case of you finding it easier to be angry than admit to other emotions?â Her voice was soft as she spoke. Bo ran his tongue over the back of his teeth. âRather yell at something than feel weak. Better to be made of razor wire than blankets. And itâs easier to bark & bite than be vulnerable, especially when youâre sure people will leave you. Am I getting close?â Bo huffed and went to speak, not entirely sure what to say. It wasnât like he could deny it. She was accurate, scarily accurate. âHey, donât get a frown, Iâm not judging. I get it.â Y/Nâs voice was still warm. Her face describing calm & understanding.
âHow so?â Bo asked. âI donât really show my anger, I get good at bottling up, but that doesnât make it go away. Whereas you might yell, I think. And admittedly, sometimes my thoughts wander toâŠless than pleasant things.â Y/N admitted. She lowered her hand and it rested in his chest casually, he made no effort to move it away. âYou think of hurtinâ people?â Y/N shrugged at his question. âSometimes. âŠa lot of the time, more than Iâd like to admit. People test my patience a lot. Iâm quick to anger but people wonât ever see it. And itâs not like I can just admit to someone Iâve though about severely harming them.â She explained. Bo hummed. âThe whole tough act you do? I get it. Even if I display my emotions differently. Iâm not judging, just observing. Relating even.â
The brunet man gazed over her face again. Taking in each feature and blemish. âThat cousin of yours, she ever piss you off that bad?â He stepped a bit closer. Y/N laughed and shook her head. âOh, every day. Iâve come real close to losing it with her. Not to mention her friends. That little âoutburstâ where I defended your honor,â Bo chuckled at that. She smiled and continued. âI donât do that very often. But theyâve been driving me nuts as of recent. Sometimes I worry, if Iâm being completely honest, just how bad my brain gets.â She muttered. Bo tilted his head as he took her in. âHow far? You talkinâ like youâve thought of killinâ someone, dollface.â He replied. Y/N said nothing but stared up at him, despite not being able to take in any of his features. Bo let himself smirk. Not like she could see him. âYou ever thought about it? Planned it maybe?â His voice was low, almost whispering. Y/N sighed before she nodded. âNot really proud of it. But sometimes I get close, too close for comfort. Iâm really not into violence all that much, but when people treat me like some weight on their life, or talk to me like Iâm some pathetic wounded animal? It really-â
âMakes you wanna showâem what youâre capable of.â Bo finished. Y/N exhaled and her shoulders dropped. âExactly. You ever been that angry, Bo?â He chewed the inside of his cheek, enjoying how she said his name. âFelt that way today.â He admitted. Y/N hummed and gave a tiny laugh. âBelieve me, I get it. It makes me laugh sometimes. Kids like William have no idea just how easily someone could get tipped off the edge, end up with a barrel aimed at the skull. Only takes about five pounds of force to pull a gun trigger, lot less straining than holding your tongue from calling him a bitch.â Bo laughed again. It was quiet, not wanting to admit she made him laugh. He hummed and tilted his head as he looked at her. âThatâs how youâd do it, yeah? You feel like a shotgun type.â Y/N said. âYouâd be right, doll. Quicker. My brotherâs more of a knife type, quieter that way.â Bo admitted. He felt her mindlessly mess with one of the buttons on his flannel. âHow would you do it?â He asked curiously. âTrying to get out my darkest secrets, huh, Bo? You gonna try and rat me out if I tell you?â She replied with a fond grin. âNope. Just a curious and admittedly sadistic fella, wanna head what twisted shit the pretty ladyâs thought of.â He replied. Y/N tucked her tongue into her cheek and hummed in reply.
âCharming.â
âI try.â
Y/N exhaled and tapped her fingers as she thought. âWell, usually theyâre based on circumstance. Resourceful killings if youâd like to call them that. Drowning Margret in dish water. Pushing William onto a busy street after he kicks my fucking cane.â Bo felt his blood burn as she spoke through gritted teeth, seeing her loosen her jaw. âHad a dream with a wood chipper once.â She shrugged. âA wood chipper? Youâd shoveâem in alive or dead?â He pressed. âWhatever works. Dead either way, right?â Y/N replied. âDamn, doll. Makinâ me wonder if youâd even be sad if those kids ended up dead.â He was losing it now, the whole act, growing more and more into his genuine self. Someone sadistic & cruel. âWanna know something, mister?â She asked him. Bo rose his hand to fiddle with her bracelet, feeling the softness of her hand still rested on his chest. âTell a man, doll.â He replied. She leaned in and whispered quietly. âI could really give a fuck less.â She hissed sadistically. Boâs breath silently hitched. âYouâre makinâ it really difficult to imagine you leavinâ, hun. Almost wanna keep ya.â The man said. âWhat? Want a house wife to aid in your murder plots? âŠthat doesnât sound to bad. I make a pretty good peach cobbler and I know how to play dumb.â She offered. Bo forced himself to remember to breath.
âDonât sound that bad.â Bo said softly. Y/N chewed on her lower lip before standing up completely straight. âNo. No it doesnâtâŠâ She muttered. She jumped at the sound of a scream, feminine and guttural. She turned to catch the sound better before tilting back to Bo, wide eyed. ââŠand I thought you were kidding.â She whispered. Boâs gaze sharpened. âYou wanna take back your offer?â He asked slowly. Y/N didnât move and she didnât speak for awhile either. She heard the scream again. She turned to him fully, maybe a bit closer than she had stood before.
âNo. No I donât.â She said softly.
Bo chuckled, though a bit surprised. âIâll show you to the house in a bit, howâs that sound, ay doll?â He asked. âIâll be here.â She leaned against her cane. Her breath caught a bit when she felt a kiss be pressed to her temple, practically burning with a sadistic grin & a strange bit of sensuality, despite it being an innocent action. And for some reasonâŠshe enjoyed it.

Wishing On Dandelions All Of The Time
Camilo Madrigal x GN Reader
 Â
"Mirabel! Have you seen (Name)?"
 Â
Camilo asked as Mirabel turned around to face him, raising her brow.
"(Name)? I saw them with Dolores in the kitchen a while ago."
She answers, she noticed how Dolores and (Name) have gotten pretty close in the pass few days. Maybe Camilo has noticed it too.
"Oh,okay then. Thanks!"
Camilo runs off to the kitchen. Maybe he can grab a snack too! Killing two birds with one stone!
When he got there,he felt jealousy in the pit of his stomach. You were laughing with Dolores, and you rarely laugh at his jokes...not only that,he can also see the light blush you had on your cheeks. Do you like Dolores? Do you like her more than him?
He was suddenly snapped back into reality once he heard you call his name. He could only wish you'd call his name, and no one else's.
"Hey Camilo, what are you doing here?"
How could one's voice bring so much peace and gentleness? He could listen to your voice all day,and he will.
"Oh! I bought a book yesterday! Maybe we can read it together? Please?"
Camilo questioned,he didn't like how you kept declining his requests to spend time together just so you could spend it with Dolores.
"Book? Since when did you like reading? Do you even know how to read?"
Dolores teased, this is weird. Her brother was suddenly invested in reading? Why? There has got to be a reason for this. She didn't hear anything from Camilo, that might mean that he doesn't want her to know anything. It must be important.
"Oh come on! I've always liked reading! Come on (Name)! Let's go read together!"
Camilo pulled (Name) out of the kitchen,to his room. Finally! No more Dolores for you (Name)! It's time for Camilo!
"Woah! Slow down,Camilo!"
(Name) suggested, why was Camilo in such a hurry? It's not like you're going anywhere.
Once you reached his room,he went in and grabbed his book. Running back to you,he quickly pulled you outside of the La Casa Madrigal,Casita in the back waving goodbye at you.
He slowed down after a few minutes of running, but he still continuously pulled you with him. Until you reached a field of dandelions with a tall tree standing at the center.
"Beautiful isn't it? I'm pretty sure I'm the first one to find this place!"
He proudly exclaimed. Yeah right, you found this place with Mirabel a few weeks ago. Sorry not sorry Camilo.
"Yeah, very pretty. Might be prettier than you and your hair."
(Name) joked, they laughed when they heard their best friend gasp.
"How dare you (Name)! I am hurt! Very hurt!"
Camilo went along with his crush's joke, but really, how dare they say that?!
This time,it was (Name)'s turn to pull Camilo by the hand, they led him under the tree, finally they can get some rest after all the running.
Camilo smiled once they sat down,it's been awhile since they spent time together. He's gonna cherish every moment of this.
He took a quick glance at you before opening the book and leaning on you, with you leaning back on instinct.
While reading,Camilo could feel your hand in his hair. He really did miss this.
You both took turns in reading, sometimes laughing at a joke a character said.
Only with a few pages left to read,Camilo handed the book to you, maybe you might want to hold the book. He closed his eyes, intently listening to you, well more like he focused on your voice rather than the story. Your voice was just so soothing that he didn't realise that he fell asleep. Once he woke up,he panicked. Oh my god,he fell asleep. Worry filling Camilo's mind, what if you left because he fell asleep? What if you left him because he wasn't listening to you? He was just there lying in the field of dandelions, under the shade of the tree.
Camilo glanced at you, relief and confusion coated his brown eyes. You were still here! Although why does it look like your sleeping with the book on your face? Did you fall asleep like that? He started chuckling, wow, that's cute.
He wanted to take the book off your face, but he was scared he might wake you up. He could hear your soft snoring and even breathing.
"(Name)...Do you...like Dolores? Like,romantically...?"
Camilo whispered to no one. He wasn't expecting an answer since he knew you were asleep,so he continued.
"I just noticed that...you've been spending so much time with her...you two seem to be very close, might be even closer than the two of us are..."
Pouring his heart out,he wanted to be happy for you if you said that you like his older sister. He wanted to be okay, even though deep down,he knew it would affect him more than it should.
"It's okay if you do like her,I'm always here to support whatever you want. You're my best friend after all..."
That's what Camilo wanted to feel, happy. Happy for you and his sister. He was only your friend,so all he could do was be happy for you and support you. But somehow,he couldn't accept it.
He wanted to be the one making you happy. The one who you wanted to spend the rest of your life with.
"But before I lose my chance...I just wanted to say that...I l-like you."
Camilo felt so embarrassed, good thing you were asleep. Come to think of it,he doesn't hear your soft snoring anymore. Could you be-
"Wow,what a way to confess,Camilo."
Camilo snapped his head towards (Name)'s voice. He was met with (Name)'s teasing smile, the book lying on their chest. So-so they heard him? Oh no-
"(N-Name)! Why are you?!-"
Camilo started to panic once again, what if this is what destroys your friendship?
"Calm down,Camilo. What are you so worried about?"
(Name) asked while sitting up,the book falling on the grass.
"You weren't suppose to hear all that!"
Camilo argued,he didn't want to get in the way of you and his sister's relationship,he saw how happy you were with her.
"Why not? I don't see any reason for you to hide this from me. Besides, you confessed,so it's only fair if I tell you how I feel too."
Camilo's face slightly got hotter, because of both embarrassment and hope that you would reciprocate his feelings.
"Camilo,I'm flattered that you feel this way but..."
All the hope Camilo had, were slowly fading. So,you really do like his sister huh? He's never felt so heartbrok-
"I think I'm more inlove with you than you are with me."
Camilo perked up,did he hear that right? You- were inlove with him? Not Dolores?
"You mean you don't have a crush on Dolores?"
Camilo tilted his head, his face growing red. He could see you blushing too, even if it's just a little bit.
"Mhm,Dolores is like a sister to me. I was planning on confessing to you tomorrow, right here too. And I was asking her for some help."
(Name) confessed,so Camilo can have them all to himself? Great!
"So I guess I just beat you to it,huh?"
Both of them laughed at his joke,so now...are you guys dating? Please say yes,Camilo is dying to be yours and for you to be his.
A few more jokes were exchanged until the sun started to set. Camilo got up and helped (Name) stand up.
Wind blowing through their hair, clothes swaying along. Dandelions flying all around, grass moving all together in the same direction. Smiles painted on both their faces, his hand reaching for their's.
In a field of dandelions, two teenagers promise to love and protect each other,at their highs and their lows,to always be together. Such a sweet and innocent love story, don't you think?
Not proof read!
But I hope you enjoyed!

All the things left unsaid
Summary: y/n and hangman have always been clearly head over heals for each other, but what happens when he leaves without either of them explicitly saying how they feel.
Pairing: Jake â hangmanâ Seresin x female!reader
Warning: Angst, major character death
A/N: AAAAH this is my first ever fic so Iâm sorry if itâs not great! But I hope you like it!
Y/n sat outside on the back porch of the hard deck. There was a dark blue hue in the sky as the sun had just set. She clutched the note maverick had just handed her, she couldnât bring herself to read it.
She couldnât read it because then she would have to face her fear, her fear that he was actually gone. That she would never hear another witty remark out of Jake âhangmanâ Serensins mouth again.
They never openly admitted there feelings to each other, but you would be blind if you couldnât see that y/n and hangman loved one another. The constant flirting between the two, that each would worry about the other, the constant flow of texts from oneâs phone to the next. And yet y/n never said those three simple words to him â I love youâ and never will as Jake was killed on his latest mission.
âhey y/n/n want a hand closing up as Iâm still here.â Hangman called to her. See she would work late shifts closing up for penny at the bar when she could, mostly because Jake would come in with his other aviator buddies and was always kind enough to stay and help her out. â are you saying this out of pity Seresin because it was your fellow pilots who left the bar a mess.â She chuckled to herself, âmaybe or maybe I just want to spend some time with the gorgeous bartender who works here.â He always knew the right things to say to her. â also Iâm leaving tomorrow morning for the mission and Iâm not sure when Iâll see you next.â Ah the mission, Jake had been coming here since his OG topgun days so y/n was no stranger to him getting shipped off to the middle of no where but he always came back so it didnât bother her. â youâll be right back here in no time like always flyboyâ he just put on a stoic grin at that comment. She didnât know this was going to be his most dangerous mission yet, and he wasnât going to tell her. â your right y/n/n but just in caseâŠâ she just had to cut him off, â no not today we ainât going to do none of that sappy stuff Jake you will make it home and I will have your favourite beer chilling here ice cold like I usually do.â â ok I guess thatâs how itâs going to be Iâll text you before I leave.â And with that y/nâs last interaction with hangman ever came to a close. God she wished she just let him speak.
By now it was dark, and the bar was lively behind her. She thought â to hell with itâ and opened up the letter.
Dear y/n,
Im sorry we never got to be together I always hoped we would someday get that chance. You make me a better person, I feel as though I can be myself around you and I havenât had a person like that in a long time. Even with me being gone and all please take care of yourself, I always hated seeing you cry. I wanted to tell you I really did. Tell you about everything my feelings, the mission but the voice in my head kept telling me you deserved better than me. Iâm sorry I never told you I loved you I really did. I think we will be together in another life time.
With much love,
Flyboy <3
God that nicknamed chocked her up. At this point she was sobbing, not caring if patrons from the bar saw. She was just so upset that there was so much left to tell him. She loved him more than anything, why did her fear of rejection keep her from being happy.
***2 weeks later***
Y/n was visiting his headstone. She laid the flowers that she brought and sat down in silence. The cemetery was nice it sat on a tall hill overlooking the ocean. She could hear the birds chirping and the waves crashing beneath her. It was nice, it was the first time in 2 weeks she had felt at peace. She stayed for awhile maybe a bit to long but who was to judge. Just before she left she knew she had to do one more thing. She got up and went to speak for the first time since she got there, â I love you Jake and Iâm sorry for all the things I left unsaid.â And with that she kissed the headstone and left.

Just Stay - Bakugou Katsuki - pt.2
Bakugou x f!reader
Warnings: angst, fluff, cursing
Summary: itâs been almost 2 years since the breakup and Bakugou refuses to move. No matter how many times people tell him itâs time, he ignores them because he knows heâll run into you again. And he was right all along.
BAKUGOUâS MASTERLIST
Pt.1Â Pt.2Â
Almost 2 years. About 24 months. Around 104 weeks, 730 days, 17520 hours, or 63,072,000 seconds. And every second of everyday, you run through Bakugouâs mind.
Memories of the two of you always pass through him and he always smile at the good ones. But as time went on, he realized he really wasnât the same person anymore. Especially not to Y/N. In the beginning, he was hopelessly devoted to you and he craved to be around you. He always wanted what was best for you until he realized in the end he grew selfish. He stopped caring about your needs, neglecting you, and just assumed youâd stay because you still loved him the same way he did you. He was wrong though, and the horrible day of your split arrived.
After you left his house that day, Bakugou remained in the same place for hours. He stood there and cried with his back facing the front door, and when his legs grew tired, he fell to the ground and continued to cry.
Everybody thought he would move on but he didnât. He still held onto hope. So for 2 years, Bakugou worked to fix himself just for you. He went to therapy to work on his excessive anger, he stopped going out as much with his friends and worked around the house to improve his home skills to help you out when you would return, and he even went as far as to get a lil dog for himself to learn to be a little more loving and compassionate.
His name was Bomber. He was a Pomeranian.
During those 2 years..itâs like you disappeared. Bakugou, and none of your friends, saw sight or heard word of you. Some people thought you moved, some thought the worst had possibly happened. But Bakugou was still going strong. If something was wrong, he wouldâve felt it in his heart, but his hope was still going strong. He knew you were out there.
And he was right. For the past 2 years youâve lived...everywhere! You never stayed in one place for too long in fear of someone from your life may get word of you being around. Youâve lived in the beautiful islands of the Caribbean all the way to the blissful cities in Paris. Youâve been all around the world and youâve enjoyed all the sights, but you were getting tired of not really having friends and spending so much money. You missed Japan. The food, the culture, the songs, the celebration. The people. And so you decided it was time for you to head back.
You moved back home about a month ago and you made sure none of your old friends would hear about you. You wanted to settle for a little bit before interacting with the people who were a huge part of your old life and you enjoyed the quite peaceful nature. After some time, you decided it was okay to meet up with your old friends, but instead of going out and looking for them, you waited to see what destiny brought you, and now the moment has come.
You sat in the old park you used to love being in when you lived in Japan. It was spring time and the cherry blossoms were out as they covered the trail you made for yourself when you came here. In the past, you found a hidden area of the park forest that seemed...magical. There was a crystal blue lake that were filled with Lilly pads, lotuses, and koi fish. The sunlight hit perfectly on the patch of land, and dusted it with a golden honey scheme. The cherry blossom trees surrounded the place along with tall pines that reached the clouds. The cute little creatures that lived in the secluded area included bunnies, fawns, beautiful birds, and adorable foxes.
Itâs been so long since youâve been here. The last time you even stepped foot into this park was when you were with..Bakugou. But even then, the last time you went with him was about 4 months before your breakup. He was the only person you ever told about this spot and you both had so many memories here. You werenât gonna lie, you missed him, but you didnât know who he was now. As the 2 years past, Bakugou has gone through your mind a couple times, and you smiled towards the sky as you wondered what heâs like nowadays. If heâs any different than the last time you saw him. You really wished nothing but the best for the man you love.
Every once in awhile, Bakugou would step into the hidden sanctuary that Y/N showed him. He enjoyed going there to get away from his reality and thoughts of Y/N always came to him when he entered that special place. This time, his imagination seemed really strong because he felt like he was staring at the real deal.
He looked ahead and leaning against the tallest cherry tree was the beautiful goddess herself, Y/N L/N. She held her cool expression as she held a cute little bunny and her golden jewelry sparkled in the sunlight that hit her body perfectly. She truly did look like a goddess.
Bakugou smiled as he saw you, but he quickly shook it off as he realized there was no way it was possible. He then chose to walk to the spot, hoping that the image of you would just disappear, but he also hoped that you were real. He snuck up on you from behind but you were smarter than that. Once he got close enough you walked to the other side of the tree, out of his line of vision and went into stealth mode as you quickly used your quirk to be seated on a high branch. Bakugou saw you walk and disappear so he sighed as he ârealizedâ you were just his imagination. However, when he finally settled and looked out beyond the valley, you jumped down to surprise him. You hopped off the branch, grabbed Bakugou and spun you both around so that you were laying against the tree and he was facing you.
âLong time no see, Bakugou,â you said with a little break in your voice as you spoke with such a âcool girl tone.â You held a sassy smile as you stared at him with all the confidence radiating off your body. Bakugou just looked at you in shock. His mouth hung open as his wide eyes traveled all around you to make sure you were real. He shook a little as he stared at you and soon his tears began to pool at his eyes.
âHey, hey, hey. You donât gotta cry, itâs okay,â you said with a concerned smile. You wiped a stray tear that fell from his ruby eyes with your thumb and you felt heat rise to his cheeks as he leaned into your palm. â....Bakugou?....Are you- woah!â
Without warning, he quickly grabbed you and pulled you in by the waist to give you a hug. He held you tight as you were shocked but you smiled against his chest and held him too. He cried on your shoulder and after some time he finally spoke.
âIâve missed you so much Y/N.â
â.....Iâve missed you too Katsuki.â
â
âWhere have you been?â He asked as you both were seated on the grass. You and Bakugou both held onto each other for awhile as Bakugou cried his heart out like a big baby. You finally settled him and you both were sitting next to each other laying against the tree as you both sat on the grass.
âIâve been everywhere!â You laughed out, âIâve went to the states and hung out in L.A and Hawaii, took some time in New York and hung out in Florida. I then went to the Caribbean and partied in the Dominican Republic, and I even traveled to Europe and stayed in Paris for a bit. Iâve been all over the world traveling and finding me again.â
âYou seem happy about that,â Bakugou said as he looked at you with loving eyes and a small smile that only you could ever bring out.
âI am. Ever since...um...you know...Iâve been a little lost. I lost myself and I missed the old me. My trips and alone time brought out the old me again and Iâve been feeling so much more alive,â you sighed as you settled, âbut Iâve missed my roots. Iâve missed Japan and the people.....Iâve missed you too Katsuki.â You said with kind eyes as you smiled at him causing him to blush immensely.
You both remained silent as you guys enjoyed the sounds of spring. You felt the breeze blow in your hair as the warm sun comforted you. Soon, you felt Bakugouâs hand slowly touch yours. You knew he was scared to go and do anything else, but you openly welcomed his touch and he clearly became less tense.
âSo...what have you been up to while I was away?â You calmly asked. You noticed Bakugouâs hesitation and deep breath before he spoke.
âIâve been....Iâve been trying to better myself for you.â Your brows raised and eyes opened up a little wider. For the past 2 years, heâs been trying to better himself...just for you. âIâve gone to therapy for my anger, stop going out as much, learned to do more around the house...even got a little dog to learn to be a little more compassionate.â
âOuu! What kind?â You excitedly asked. He chuckled at your cute aura and answered your question.
âCute little Pomeranian named bomber,â he admitted.
âNo way! Cuteeee!â You squealed and Bakugou just laughed at you once again. How cute. As you thought about everything he said, your smile dropped a little into a little lip curl. A silence came over the two of you before you spoke again.
âYou...you did all that for me?â
âMhm. I wanna prove to you that I can change. That I have changed. ....Iâm not telling you this to get you to come back to me..I want you to come on your own choice but I want you to know if you do decide to come back, that Iâve become better.â He explained.
You smiled and hummed to yourself in happiness. Your cheeks dusted with warmth as you smiled so much it hurt.
âWhy donât you show me how much youâve changed Katsuki?â You offered.
âWhat?â
âHehe, letâs start over. I donât know if youâre still down for anything...but Iâve missed you over the past 2 years and I remember you saying that if a certain âgoddessâ wanted to come back..youâd be waiting with open arms...â you looked at him and he gave an open smile that held more disbelief and happiness than excitement.
âCan we try again Suki?â You quietly asked, but Bakugou stood and picked you up. He pulled you up by your arms and pulled you even higher which caused you to jump and wrap your legs around him. You laughed out in excitement as he held you like that and rested his head in the crook of your neck.
âI should be on my hands and knees asking you that, princess.â He softly said with a broken voice but it was clear he was letting out tears of joy. You wrapped your arms around his neck even tighter as his hold on you never faltered. He started sniffling and you pulled him out of your neck as you wiped his tears.
âSuki! Stop crying,â you giggled, âthis is supposed to be a happen moment.â
âShut up! I donât cry!â He said with a flushed face as he looked to the side but still holding you. You raised your brow at him and he only nervously laughed as he placed you down. He stuck out his hand for you to grab onto but you placed it down and wrapped your arms around his. You pecked his cheek and leaned on him as he smiled down at you. This was the moment heâs been waiting for. His princess finally came back to him. Everyone told him to move on but he knew better. If he did, he wouldâve never been here right now with you again. And this time, he would make sure youâd stay.
âSuki?â
âYes princess?â
â.......Can we go see Bomber?â
âHeh...whatever your heart desires.â

Pure Instinct
Lion Hybrid San x Reader
Requested!
tw: mentions of weapons, blood and wounds.
note: @sunsethw4 you request is here. The photo feels kind of fitting for some reason. Enjoy the read!
You were on your way to a weekend getaway with your group of friends and their hybrids. At first you questioned why the hybrids had to tag along but the others insisted on bringing them, the more the merrier what they had said.
You and your hybrid, San was seated at the very back of the 8-seater car. You were looking out the window as San was talking to one of the hybrids that was beside him.
You were heading to a friendâs rest house that was situated in the rural area. It has been awhile since your last trip and this was a good way to spend time with your friends. The scenery was beautiful along the way and a smile formed on your face as you took in the sight.
Upon arriving, everyone awed at the beautiful villa in front of them. You and San followed everyone inside and settled in the living area. Before everyone went to their assigned rooms, the owner of the house, Minhyun, called everyone to huddle in the centre.
âAfter unpacking, I want everyone down here, okay?â
Everyone groaned at his words but he clapped his hands and made everyone move faster so that no time was wasted.
As you were unpacking your belongings, there was this uneasiness inside of you. âSan, are you alright?â He hummed and made his way to where you were at the corner of the room and crouched down.
âIs something bothering you?â He questioned with head tilted to the side watching you pout at your opened bag. âNothing, itâs just that I donât have a good feeling all of a sudden.â You met his eyes and he ruffled your hair to calm you down. âDonât think too much. Iâll be here, alright?â
To be honest, you were hesitant to bring San along with you to the retreat since heâs not a normal hybrid species like the others that were present. But he assured you that heâll be fine and that was enough to put you at ease.
You stepped down the stairs and saw everyone there waiting for you. âHurry up! We donât want to spend all day playing Minhyunâs games.â Haeri crossed her arms as she watched you roll your eyes and walk towards the groups.
Minhyun started explaining how they needed firewood to use for later and so he made everyone play a game and losers had to go and collect them. The fact that hybrids were excluded from playing made you nervous.
After three rounds, everyone cheered at you as you stood up unwillingly. âBring back a lot okay? We need them for the BBQ later on too.â Jihan quipped from the floor as he waved at you happily. You gave a fake smile as you grab San by the arm and start walking out from the villa.
âIâm sorry, San. Iâm usually not bad at games.â you told him.
âItâs fine. At least we get to explore the forest first.â Both of you walked towards the thick forest behind the villa. You observed how the area appeared peaceful except for the occasional chirping from the birds scattered in the sky.
Both of you started searching for any usable woods on the ground. You could hear the group laughing and having the fun of their life inside the house. It felt like they purposely sent you out to do the task but you didnât want to let yourself down and continue to search again.
After a good 10 minutes or so, you messed up your hair and walked towards San who seemed as annoyed as you were. âI think we have to go deeper. Thereâs nothing here.â He nodded at your suggestion and made sure to walk right beside you.
Both of you carefully avoided large fallen branches and the only noise you could hear was the leaves crunching underneath your feet as you made your way into the unfamiliar area.
You knew it was still early in the evening but everything felt darker and the sunlight wasnât as bright as before you entered. You were very sure that the villa was far away now as you canât hear any of your friends goofing around anymore.
San all of a sudden sensed something was off and quickly pushed you behind him, transforming in the process. Then you heard rustling from behind you and turned but nothing was there.
The rustling could be heard from the side and you swore you saw something running passed the trees. You werenât sure if it was an animal or a human as everything happened too fast.
You heard San growled at something and tried to search for what it was. Exactly at that moment, you heard gunshots coming from the front where he was shielding you. He roared even louder and launched at the direction of where the gunshot came from.
You finally saw a man holding out a rifle and shot San again. He fought back and hit the man with his head. A scream left your lips as the man hit his wounded area with the back of his rifle. He fell down and curled on the damped ground with the side of his body starting to bleed.
You ran as fast as you could towards them as you watched the man pointed his rifle again at San. Without thinking, you jumped in front of Sanâs lion form, the rifle now right in front of your face.
âPlease stop.â Your voice trembled and eyes were brimming with hot tears.
âWhy should I stop? You trespassed in my area.â The man challenged. Confusion was written all over your face. âYou see that? Thatâs my house.â You didnât know you went that deep, a small cabin could be seen from where you were.
âWe didnât mean to trespass, please let us go. You know the villa near the main road? Thatâs where weâre staying.â Your body was now pressed on the side of Sanâs body as you explained how you were out to get wood to heat up the fireplace and the man slowly backed away as he pulled back the rifle he was holding.
You felt San slowly transforming back into his human form. He was groaning and curled up even more on the ground. His shirt was ripped and stained with blood that was coming out from his abdomen and you quickly went to press on it with both your hands.
âSan...please hang on.â His eyes were shut together as you pulled him into your chest and cradled him tighter.
âIâm begging you, please let us go. Weâll leave now.â
The man walked over to you and pulled San up with one arm as the other one was still holding onto his weapon. He said nothing and turned around to walk back to his cabin. You were still in panic mode as you followed him and held on to San's other side.
âThe hospital is far away, Iâll treat his wounds here.â The man said when he saw you tried to tug San away from his hold, afraid that he might get hurt again.
Once inside the cabin, he made San sit down on a chair. âPlease stay awake, San.â You held onto his hand and eyed his pale features. He heard you but was too in pain to say anything.
As the man came back and started to tend to San, your phone rang loudly which surprised you. Haeri called to inform that they went to buy charcoal instead since you were taking too long to come back. You didnât explain anything and told her that you were on the way back. You were starting to regret coming to the trip altogether after the call.
âGet him to the hospital once you leave.â You nodded cautiously and saw the man gave him a shirt. âIâm sorry for shooting you earlier, you donât see a lion here often so I got shocked.â The man patted Sanâs shoulder with a guilty look on.
âSorry for scaring you as well. I didnât know he was one of those hybrids.â He turned to you. You didnât know what to say and gave a flat smile towards him.
When you arrived back at the villa, it was already dark. âSan, let me help you walk. Donât be stubborn.â you tried for the third time to slung his arm around you but he refused and was limping as he held on to the wounded area.
âIâm fine.â he hissed to himself.
âYou got shot twice, youâre not fine.â If he wanted to be stubborn, so could you. You forced his arm to wrap around your waist. You watch as everyone gathered outside the backyard in the middle of the fire pit as they ate away. Having no clue what both of you went through in the dense forest earlier.
You watched as they smiled and even dared to greet you as if you went missing for almost half the day was nothing to them. You didnât want to deal with their petty remarks and excuse yourself.
âHeâs not feeling well, so Iâm going to go rest with him. You guys have fun alright.â You noticed that they were looking at your bloodied hands but said nothing and tiredly smiled at them before heading inside. They were murmuring among themselves and you knew thereâs a lot of explaining needed to be done the next day.
Back in the bedroom, both you and San were on the floor, leaning against the bed as you ate cup noodles. âAre you feeling alright?â San wasnât eating as he stared at the wall in front of him. You followed his gaze and looked back at him.
âI have to admit, I kind of like you getting worried about me like that. Makes me feel special.â
You felt heat rush to your face at his sudden words and lightly punched his arm out of embarrassment. âJust eat and next time, the only trip Iâm going on is with you. No forest, no friends, just us both.â You poke his cheek to which he pinched your cheek in return.
âAnything for you.â He whispered and pulled you into a side hug.

A Life Saver
âąLEVI ACKERMAN x READER
âąOverview: Levi saves you, someone he barely knew, from certain death
âąWarnings: mentions of death, gore description, cursing, near death experience, bit of angst, very brief mention of sex
âąSeason: season one range with a few altercations
-
At first, you didnât want to become a scout. The thought of putting your life on the line wasnât appealing, and it really just scared the hell out of you. Serving in the military police was a path you chose to go down. It was what you wanted for awhile then things started to not feel right.
The scouts were putting other lives before their own and you began to admire their bravery. Even when things looked like there was no light on the other side they pushed through. They proved that even mass death can result in a small victory that gave the people hope, something to help the nation push forward.
After serving in the military police for many years you decided it was time to step down. You wanted to become a scout, you wanted to help make a change. Your comrades thought you were absolutely insane, and they begged you to not make the choice. You refused, and soon you joined the scouts.
Mission after mission you survived and killed titans. You lost friends way too often, and the hurt and loneliness that came with the job would make anyone break. Youâd been broken from the inside out in ways youâd never imagined. At the end of the day, you knew it was for the greater good.
The hope for a change only became greater when a boy showed up with the abilities of a titan. You knew to have such strength on your side was promising, and you saw light at the end of the extremely dark tunnel.
Youâd served many long heart wrenching years by the time hope like that had shown up, and it only pushed you to keep going. You longed to live in a world without titans. All you wanted was to run free in field and see new things.
Today was a normal day, but thatâs how any bad day starts. Youâd woke up early to watch the sunrise with your close, and pretty much last friend, Molly. She was the best person youâd ever met and had been by your side for years. You had never admired anyone more than her.
âYou know that titan kid is only fifteen, isnât that insane?â She says before taking a sip of the coffee you had made her.
Your eyebrows raise at her words, âWait really?â
The women laughs a bit at your shocked reaction then nods her head. She sets her coffee on the blanket you two are sitting on then leans back onto her hands, staring up at the sky that swirls with colors of orange and pink.
âTo have this kind of hope is the best feeling iâve had in years,â she says, âthis is going to unlock so many closed doors we donât know about. I think that finally weâre going to get some answers about how the hell the world turned into this mess.â
The smile on her face was full of such joy. She truly was excited for the future, youâd never seen someone actually look forward to what is lying ahead. A few days ago everyone thought titans would rein for hundreds of more years. Then all of the sudden that perspective has changed and no one knows what is going to come next.
âYeah, I hope the future is bright,â you whispered.
You lay down to stare up at the sky, and Molly follows your movements. The two of you lay there in silence, thinking of a peaceful world where so much fear and death does not exist. You turn your head to look at your bestfriend to find her eyes are already on you.
âOur futures are bright, (y/n),â she says with a smile, âWeâre going to live in cute little houses by the ocean!â
You canât help but smile and roll your eyes at her. She always brought up this big body of water sheâd read about in an illegal book when she was a teenager. The women could go on an on about it, as if sheâd seen it before herself.
âIf the ocean is even real,â you say with a smirk.
She scoffs at you before rolling her eyes harder than you just had, âOf course itâs real!â
You two spend the next hour talking about what youâd do or who youâd be doing if life were different. Molly wished for a family, to fall in love. Sheâd talked about it many times before but she refused to bring children into a world like this. You felt similar, expect children werenât really on your radar. You longed to fall in love and grow old with someone.
But everyday brought death and destruction. You didnât want to fall madly in love and then watch your whole world crumble as a titan took them away from you. The pain you had from your friends screaming your name as monsters had them in their grip was already too much to bare.
Heavy footsteps came in your direction at high speed, and soon you could hear heavy breathing along with it. You and Molly sat up quickly and saw one of your comrades running at you with pure fear in their eyes.
âWall rose has been compromised!â They scream, voice laced with panic.
Mollyâs eyes widen right as yours do. The feeling of uncertainty course through your veins almost instantly. Youâll never get used to the way your stomach drops when you hear things like that. Who could ever get used to that? Knowing youâre about to watch more people die would make anyone feel this way.
Before you know it youâre running to get your uniform on and strap on your gear. No one saw this coming. Then again, how the hell would they see this coming? You scramble to find you gear and you panic as itâs no where to be found.
âFuck, fuck, fuck!â You yell as the panic begins to set in.
Hands grab each of your shoulders to hold you still, and thatâs when you see Mollyâs worried eyes. She looks at you with concern. The last mission had both of you on edge more than ever before. Both of you lost someone dear, someone who was close to you as you were to each other. Knowing that today you could lose Molly was making your mind and body think like a mad man.
âYou gear is with my stuff, remember? You didnât want to lose it so you asked me to hold onto it,â she reminds you.
The sweet women pulls you into a tight hug, and you can feel her body trembling. The two of you had no time for this, people were probably already being slaughtered. Right as you begin to think this a scream rips through the air, one that makes you two grip one another tighter.
âWeâre going to fight and weâre going to survive,â she says sternly, âdo you hear me? Donât you dare die on me (y/n).â
You nod into her chest as tears begin to form in your eyes. So much could change in an instant and you wished time could freeze so you could hug your bestfriend forever. But reality was sinking in and you knew you had titans to kill and lives to save.
The hug was short lived, and soon you were faced with the destruction held within wall rose. Titans stomped around mindlessly, some with those creepy smiles that you absolutely hated.
Your blades cut through nape after nape and your head was starting to spin. Somewhere along the way you lost Molly, which had never happened before. You hated not having her around. The constant fear of not knowing what position she could possibly be in made you sick to your stomach.
You flew through the air at a high speed, trying to get leverage on the abnormal that was chasing after you. Itâs mouth hung open as itâs disgusting blood drenched touched dripped into the buildings below. Youâd never faced an abnormal and didnât expect it to dodge your attack minutes ago.
Sure you were extremely skilled but itâs hard to work your way around a fast moving titan. Itâs arms flew in the air behind it, the beast was an odd sight. Youâd never witnessed a titan act so strangely before.
Youâd been observing the monster too closely, but only for a few seconds. But as any soldier knows, a few moments can cost you your entire life. You turned your attention back infront of you but you didnât have time to react before you slammed into a chimney. Out of all things that couldâve contributed to your death it just had to be a damn chimney.
The impact made your vision blur and you couldnât even really feel the pain. The sun beamed down on you as your body layed limp on the rooftop. The sky was a beautiful shade of blue, and you wished you could fly up there with the birds and be free.
The abnormals hand picked you off the home as if you were nothing, only a small ant compared to it. Itâs eyes were completely lifeless as it stared at you with hunger.
âDonât you dare die on me (y/n)!â
Mollyâs words rang through your mind but you couldnât move. The injury to your head made you feel as if you were in a dream. There was no sense of reality right now, you couldnât even comprehend that you were about to reach your end.
In a way you knew, reality wasnât too far off. But you couldnât find the energy to fight back. It had all been drained from you as the battle continued, and the final blow left you motionless.
You closed your eyes hoping somehow thatâd stop you from feeling the coming pain. Every part of you didnât want to die. Mollyâs dreams about living by the ocean had become yours as well even if you wouldnât admit it. The thought of leaving her with no body brought tears to your eyes.
Thatâs when you tried to move with the little energy left in your body, but it was no use. The tears began to stream down your face and the fear began to set in. Fear like this had never been within you, it was a brand new feeling. You guess certain death does that to you.
âNo!â You say as loud as you can, âSomeone please help me!â
Knowing this is what so many of the people you loved had to experience broke your heart. It was already bad enough to know they were gone and you couldnât have saved them. But this was so much worse, they died with such fear. Fear that almost paralyzed you.
The sound of blades ripping through skin filled your ears. The titans grip on you loosened, then let go completely. You felt yourself falling, but you kept your eyes closed. Fear had already made its way to every inch of your body and you couldnât move even more than before.
Right before you slammed to the ground below strong arms caught you. A grunt slipped past the unknown persons lips at the impact of your body. They carried you into a near by tavern that was deserted of people, then set you on one of the tables.
âHey,â the deep voice said, âcâmon now I know you arenât dead, donât go out like this.â
Your eyes fluttered open to see the dangerously handsome man in your face. He was awfully close, you could feel his breath on your nose. His eyes were wide with concern.
âCaptain Levi?â You asked followed by a gut wrenching cough. Blood splattered onto your lips and you groaned.
He couldnât have been the one who saved you, right? Youâd only talked to Levi a handful of times, and all were him giving you orders. Youâd never had a desire to talk to him even if you found him incredibly attractive.
Youâd admired the man for years as well. He has lost as many people as you, maybe more. He had already been on the scouts for many years before you joined. The man had watched the passion you held as you killed titans at alarming speed. He knew exactly who you were and what you had to offer, thatâs why he saved you.
He smiled softly at you, not even enough for you to notice. For a second he thought you wouldnât wake up and heâd be carrying a lifeless body back to medical. You cough a bit more before sitting up. A gasp slips past your lips and pain shoots through your body.
âHoly shit that fucking hurts,â you curse.
You see the fresh blood on your hands and wonder if itâs yours. The pounding in your head only increases as you move. The room felt like it was spinning and you may vomit any second.
âDo I need to take you to medical?â He asks with concern in his voice.
Your vision looks at the raven haired man and your memory starts to come back. One second you were flying through the air and then stupidly slammed into a chimney. And that damned titan was about to feast on you, what a bitch. Then you realized Levi was the one who stopped you from your near death.
âWhy did you save me?â You ask without answering him first.
He sighs at your question. He had only moved that fast to save someone a handful of times. It just felt right to save you. He was there, you were there, he couldnât just let you die. It wasnât too far out of reach, he had already been headed in your direction.
âBecause youâre strong and the scouts need you,â he answers, ânow tell me if I need to take you to medical.â
His features were stern and it made your stomach flip a bit. If there werenât titans outside and pain wasnât consuming your body you may have thrown out a stupid flirtatious remark due to your bubbly personality. But this wasnât the time and place no matter how good the captain looked right now.
âI just need a minute,â you said softly as you pushed your weight off the table.
You hissed in pain before stretching your body. The bones in your body crack loudly and you let out a low grunt at the feeling. The pounding in your head began to simmer and you took deep breaths.
âThank you captain Levi,â you said, âmy friend wouldâve personally brought me back to just kill me herself.â
He chuckled a bit at your remark and you couldnât even recall captain Levi smiling let alone chuckling. This whole situation was weird and unrealistic to you. Maybe you were already dead and this was your afterlife. A hot guy saves you and later you two will go to bone town, sounds pretty fun.
âI literally ran into a chimney,â you grumbled.
Leviâs eyes squinted at your words in confusion, âYou what?â
âI didnât get caught by a titan while trying to kill it heroically. I wasnât paying attention for like three seconds and slammed into a damn chimney, not too sure the scouts really need me,â you say.
He shakes his head at your words and was becoming annoyed by your self doubt.
âI know, I saw,â he says and your cheek almost immediately turn red, âand I still saved you cause I thought you were worth it.â
You couldnât get words out after what he said. You only stared at him in shock. He saw you make a foul out of yourself but yet still risked his life to save you. Levi truly was an interesting man.
âWell then, thank you again,â you say, âmaybe I should thank you in a different way.â You wiggle your eyebrows then let out a laugh into your palm as his face falls at your words.
âHoly shit iâm kidding, please donât make me do laps for that. Jokes make me feel better,â you still were holding back laughter at the face Levi made. You never thought youâd make the captain flustered like that.
âUh,â his cheeks redden, âWe need to get back out there. Itâs starting to get worse, are you sure youâre okay (y/n).â
You take a deep breath before nodding your head. The two of you immediately begin to speed walk towards the open door of the tavern.
âIâm going to need you to follow me. The titans are huddled in the west and help is needed there,â he orders you and you respond with a yes captain, which always makes you cringe.
âOh and by the way,â he says with a smirk, âthat other way of thanking me is always welcome.â
This time he leaves you flustered. He heads west and you stand there for a few seconds before you remember youâre supposed to be following him. His remark might have you slamming into another chimney.
After fighting for hours many people had been ïżŒsuccessfully moved to wall sina. Some titans still mindlessly walked around within the walls of rose, but atleast many people were saved. There was still a great heartfelt loss that day.
When you got back to base your heart was pounding in your ears. All you could think about was Molly and if she was okay. You hadnât seen her since you two got separated during the hell bent events. Your eyes scanned frantically through the base, searching for her everywhere.
Your mind went to the worst place possible and you begin to panic. She had to be okay, she was all you had. You needed her more than anyone else. If sheâs gone you might as well let a titan eat you during your next mission. Molly kept you alive, and kept you fighting.
â(y/n)?â You hear a familiar deep voice ask.
You spin on your heals and are met with the same deep brown eyes that saved you earlier today. Levi looked upset, face a bit fallen. Thatâs when your heart sank to your stomach. Did he know where Molly was? Or if she had even made it back?
âFollow me,â he says without any other detail.
He starts walking and you immediately follow as your heart races. At this point you wouldnât be surprised if he could hear it. Your eyes scan to a sign that says medical as Levi opens the door below it.
Youâre led to a the back of the room and you gasp at the sight. On the bed layed Molly with bandages covering many parts of her body. Your eyes fill with tears at the safe shes in, this was too much.
âSheâs going to be okay, and the nurse told me she should be up soon,â he says.
You nod your head at his words before reaching to hold Mollyâs hand, it was cold as ice.
âCan you please get her a blanket,â you state, it wasnât even a question. It was more like you werenât letting go of her hand, more like you couldnât.
Levi nods and fetches her a couple blankets. He covers her for you and you thank him. The tears still run down your face, but you had already stopped wiping them away. It was no use because they just kept coming harder and harder as you looked at your bestfriend.
âThank you Levi, I wouldâve gone crazy looking for her back there,â you smile through the hurt.
He only hums in response to your words, letting silence fill the air. His hand comes to rest on your shoulder and his fingers move slightly to give you some comfort. It truly was a nice feeling to have someone with you right now, you might think too hard if he wasnât here.
âIâll give you some space-â âno,â You cut him off, âplease donât go.â
Levi sees the hurt in your eyes. He could tell you needed someone right now even if he wasnât much of a comforting person.
âokay,â he whispers.
He then pulls up a chair next to yours and sits with you for the next few hours in silence. It was somewhat nice, for both of you. Molly begins to stir in her sleep and your perk up. Her eyes flutter open and the first thing she sees is you and she smiles.
âWeâll look at that,â she smiles, âyouâre just obsessed with me arenât you (y/n).â
You laugh through happy tears forming in your eyes. She takes a deep breath and tries to stretch her body but the pain to still too much. She feels your grip on her hand and she squeezes at yours.
âYou didnât think iâd go out that easily did you,â she asks with a smirk on her chapped lips.
âNot for a second,â you said back almost immediately.
She lets out a small laugh at your words. For a second she did think she was going to die as a titan smacked her body mid-air, but thatâs all she can remember. It was that, and then she wakes up in medical confused as hell. But seeing you made her know she definitely was okay. Her eyes scan to the figure next to you to see captain Levi. Youâd told her before that youâd totally jump his bones if he let you.
âDid you screw the captain while I was out?â she asks playfully.
You and Leviâs breath hitch at her words and she canât help but let out a laugh. It hurt her chest to laugh that hard but it also in a way made her feel better.
âReally Molly? You were just half dead a few minutes ago and thatâs what you wanted to say?â You couldnât help but laugh along with her. Youâd rather her make you and the captain flustered than her be dead.
Levi couldnât help but smile widely, but he put his head down to hide it. That day you and Levi developed a liking for each other, and both of you couldnât remember the last time you felt this way.
The lives you each led was going to make it hard, but feelings are strong.
After an hour or so of talking to Molly she fell back asleep for some well needed rest. Levi walked with you down the hall back to your room, making small talk that was hard to even keep going.
âThank you again Levi,â you look at him with sparkling eyes, âIâm pretty sure anyone else besides Molly wouldâve let me be titan desert.â
âOf course, I would never let you be titan desert,â he mumbles the last part. Heâd never heard someone refer to themselves as titan desert before, it almost made him laugh.
You stop at your door and look at his with an adoring gaze. He truly was nice looking, and incredibly brave. You wanted to be just like him, you wanted to be even stronger than him one day.
Before you could think you were leaning in to kiss his cheek. His eyes widen and his face heats up. The action rendered him speechess and he watched as your reached for the handle and opened the door before slipping in your room without another word.
He stayed in the hallway for a few seconds staring at where you just stood.
âShit,â he whispered.
That only sparked his feelings for you further, and he knew this was the beginning of something heâd been avoiding his whole life.
Love.

Dying to Breath
This is my part to @geekandbooknerdâ 2k writing challenge! Again CONGRATULATIONS!! This I such huge thing and Iâm so happy for you, because it is truly well deserved and I canât wait to see where you'll go from here đŒ
Words: 2467
Warnings: Feelings of drowning? Giving up. Hopelessness, but also fluff I swear.
Summary: Ivar knew he would meet his end. Drowning while bound to a mast. But the sea had other plans for him.Â
Prompt:
âIâm oxygen and heâs dying to breathâ (I used slightly a slightly different version of this but itâs still in here.)
Waves crashing, rain beating on skin, wind ripping one apart.
For an instant Ivar wished he listened to his mothers words. Because at this moment he sees his own death playing out right before him. Tied up to the mast of the boat he can look past his father to the gigantic waves that build up before them. Bigger and bigger they take up the sky. And he screams.
Pain, fear, anger, hopelessness and misery all in one deafening scream that threatens to rip his throat apart. He can do nothing but watch. Nothing but wait for his death. Nothing but let the gods see him drown and laugh at him, because why should he get to go to Valhalla with a miserable death like this.
Ragnar turns around and sees the desperation in his sons eyes. He will be responsible for his death. The gods are finally done with him and they are going to take his son with him. The one he needs the most, the one that was the most important for his mission. His youngest son that didn't see the world yet.
Walking towards him Ragnar put his hand over Ivar's mouth, silencing the scream.
âDon't be afraid.â He doesn't say the words but Ivar can read them in his fathers eyes.
And so he doesn't scream. He just looks at the wave that will crash all of them and ignores the tear that slowly falls down his face. The rain from the storm masks it perfectly so he can pretend to be brave. If for one moment in his life he needs to be it, this is it. Maybe the gods will open their golden hall for him then.
So he does nothing and the wave crashed over them. Turning the boat with a power that challenges every force in Midgard. People fall overboard. Screaming for their life. They know it will do them nothing to help. Planks breaking apart as if the mighty ship was just a stick. And finally the mast breaks, the mast Ivar is so helplessly tied to. Curse Ragnar for this. This was not the way it was supposed to be. But then his mother warned him, so maybe it was.
Water pressed inside his ears. Making him hear a ringing that wasn't there. The salt burnt his eyes but he tried his best to keep them open. His hand desperately trying to undo his fathers knots but it was no use. They were to tight.
Through the haze of the water Ivar could see his father swim down and towards him. He was sinking. The measly metal constructions on his legs and the mast soaking up with water brought him closer and closer to the bottom of the ocean.
His ears getting worse by the second and he knew that Ragnar would feel the same, but still he did not give up on Ivar's bondage. But the air would run out sooner or later and the knot would not budge.
Ivar tried to show his father to save himself, but how can you do that when you can't speak or move. He had to see his father struggle all the while neither had much air in their lungs left. His father never looked so miserable and that brought Ivar a strange sense of pride. He did not do a lot in his life. How could he. But at least he brought Ragnar Lothbrok, the greatest of all the Vikings, misery beyond belief. At least that was something Ivar the Boneless could live with.
Ragnar, being older, ran out of air before his son. And even though he truly didn't want to leave him in this wet grave he had to get air. His body forced him to push away and up. With his movements he desperately tried to carry Ivar and the mast with him, yet it was no use. It was all to heavy for his broken body. And after a heavy tug Ivar slipped out of his fingers and deeper into the water.
Ivar didn't quite see when it happened but suddenly his father was gone and he knew we would be soon too. If his body was not surrounded by water he would have screamed and cursed every living thing in this world. But his air run out slowly and even if his body did not want to give up he saw the edges of his eyes turn dark. His legs, funnily enough, where the things that brought him the least amount of pain in this moment. No it was his chest.
A pressure so big he felt his body would break into two and crumble in on itself all the same time was all he could feel. It was maddening. Feeling like a caged animal, tapped inside the tiniest cage, even though nothing but the wide ocean held him back. He felt himself slipping. Giving up. And the worst part, he lost all sense of caring for it.
Even his eyes played tricks on him. How else should he explain to himself that water moving in irregular shapes right before him. It was as if smaller waves were twirling before him. Almost dancing. As if something was there. Someone. Ivar heard about Selkies. Merfolk that looked like seals but could shed their fur and become human if they wanted. But there was no seal in front of him. No it was just water dancing.
Slowly the moving water took shape of a arm. And then a hand. Stomach, shoulder, neck and head. Legs that went longer then human, until it reached feet and soon a person was floating before him. Hair that would glide through the currents as if it was guided by wind. A person made out of water. A women clearly there yet translucent to the eye. Eyes so cold they looked like molten silver. Hel must be close to taking him if his eyes played such tricks with him.
But then he not only saw but also heard something. A voice. Clear as the echos on the mountains. It sounded like nothing he heard before. A language that was not meant to be heard by humans. It sounded like birds flying though the air singing their songs. Nothing not even his air deprived brain could come up with something like that. And with the singing came another figure right before his eyes. This time a man.
Blackness made itself known around Ivar's eyes more and more and he knew he would be out of air soon. The water people circled around him. Looking at him as if they never have seen something like him. The women came closer while the men vanished into nothing but droplets and foam. Stretching her hands out towards his face. And even though he knew that he could not go anywhere he flinched away from this mysterious touch.
That did not discourage her though, as she just did it again. This time with success. She was warmer then the water around him and it brought Ivar a sense of peace. He could die here and the warm hands of this entity would sooth him on the way there. Maybe she was a helper of Hel, here to take him. But all of that vanished as he felt her lips on his and with that air entering his lungs again. Gasping into her and deepening as far as his bound body could go like his life depended on it, because it did, he stretched closer to her.
He had air again. His chest did not threaten to burst. His ears did not ring anymore. He felt weightless. Almost free. If he were on land there would be tears running down his face again. This time not out of agony but euphoria.
She still held his face in between her hands. Never letting go as her lips left his. He called for her to come back but nothing but bubbles left his mouth. So instantly he closed them again. All this must have amused her, for she laughed. A sound so magnificent he was transfixed. She looked at him as if she found an animal in the wild and was trying to decide if she should keep it. She must have found an answer because after seconds her hands left his face and she vanished just like the man.
Panic made itself known inside Ivar. But as soon as she vanished she appeared behind him again. He could feel her hands on his arms. Or more the warmth that spread there. He could not see what she did but after a while his arms were free. She freed him.
Ivar felt her arms encircle his torso and, with a strength he did not see coming, she made her way to the surface. All the while still holding him. His hands found her arm and it was strange. He could see only water that was faintly outlined by foam and light. But he felt it resisting at his touch. He could see through but not feel though her body. It was a miracle, he was sure of it.
The first breath of real air he felt as they broke through the surface was the best feeling he ever felt. Maybe close behind to the kiss he got from the being he was still in the arms of. Nevertheless it was like getting his life back with every breath he took. Clutching on the being he realized that she was now in front of him again. Looking at him as if he was the weirdest thing in the world. A smile adorned her face and it was so beautiful he knew the gods made it. She let him hug her for awhile all the while she looked at him and held him back. He felt save for the first time on the ocean.
She swam with ease. The waves that still rolled over the ocean, even if they were not so big now, did not matter to her. She found a piece of Ragnar's boat and brought Ivar to it.
'Ragnar. What happened to father.'
âMy father! Where is he!â His voice was scratching and he needed three tries to get all the words out. But it didn't matter. He needed his father.
The woman looked at him and then behind him. Pointed with a tender movement behind him and Ivar turned around.
Land. He saw land. Nothing made him feel more contend. Maybe the sight of his father alive and well could make it even better. And it became better. With every stoke she took he got closer to land and closer to tiny specs of rubble. Like ants laying in the sand he could see pieces of their boat and people lying about. Ivar turned his face back to the women.
He could look at this land all he wanted but he knew she would leave soon. She was beauty personified. Flawless and pure and so enigmatic in what she even was that Ivar did truly not know. Never had he heard or seen of a being like her and the man.
The sun rose slowly over the horizon and the beams reflected inside of her as if she was made out of pure light, instead of water. And they were closer to the shore. SO close that Ivar could see his father lying in the sand. Eyes turned to the lightening sky.
He could feel that she slowed down and was about to push away from the makeshift boat when he took her hand in his. Startling her for a second before their eyes met again. A smile replaces her panicked look and she waited for him to make the next move.
But what was his next move? He just didn't want her to go yet. With a voice so small as if it came form a small boy he finally found words to say. But even though the words sounded small they held unimaginable amounts of gratitude in them
âYou saved me.â
She did not answer. Ivar didn't even know if she understood a word he said. Maybe she only spoke in her voice that sounded of strange singing birds. But still he had to try.
âWhy?â
A long pause followed. Still she did not utter a single word. But she did also not look away and in her eyes Ivar could see understanding. After anther pause that felt to him endless she spoke to him.
âI am air and you were dying to breath. You have something in your eyes that I did not want to see go out.â
Her hand found his left cheek again and with a push she was closer to his eyes, placing her lips on his right cheek. Letting a simple, small kiss linger on his skin and went back to the water so that only her head was out of the water.
âFarewellâ
And with that she pushed him closer to the shore and dove back into the deep see. Gone just as simple as she came. His hand lingered on his right cheek, the warmth of her lips were still tingling on his skin. He was so fixated on the ocean waves that he didn't realize that the plank was now stranding the beach. The only thing that brought him out of his trance was the scratching voice of his father.
âIVARâ Distress but also the utter most relief was heard in Ragnar's voice.
âOh my son.â He threw his arms around the boy and kissed his hair. Never was he so happy to have someone else back in his arms. âI thought you were lost in the sea. I dove back under but I could not find you and the stream would not let me away, as if I was carried by something that wasn't there to land.â
'The man. The one that vanished.' Ivar thought,
âHow did you get free? How did you survive.?â
Ragnar's eyes searched Ivar's with so much emotion, tears sprung in them. A pure display of joy and relieve.
Ivar's gaze left the one of his father's and he looked back out to the sea. The sun now being higher then before and the glistening waves seemed to be waving at him goodby.
âThe sea saved me.â
It was all he could say. Because she did.
Ragnar did not know what he should do with that but he didn't care. He had his son back and he didn't let him go for a while. Still holding him in his arms kissing his hair and thanking the gods that they brought him back his youngest.
He could still fulfill his plan.

hey can i request prompt "youâre so important to me" and "you make me proud, you know that right" with osamu please? my pronouns are she/her, and i like "baby" as petname, thanks!!
Hey, bub! Thank you so much for requesting â„ïž I actually became soft when writing this. I mean, who wouldn't become soft when it's Osamu telling them he's proud of them? đ„ș Anyway, here's your request. I hope you enjoy it! Have a good day, stay safe and hydratedâ„ïž
What the future holds
genre: comfort, fluff
warning/s: academic pressure (?), mental breakdown, mild cursing
a/n: please do read the warnings before you proceed. warnings have been put there for a reason.
prompt/s: "you're so important to me", "you make me proud, you know that right?"
ft. osamu miya, f!reader
through highs and lows, osamu will always be there to stick by your side, even if it means having to climb up a tree just to sneak inside your bedroom
You looked at the window upon hearing something which sounded like a bird tapping on a glass.
Wiping your tears with a newly opened tissue roll, you stood up and walked over the window without any hesitation, your eyes a little swollen and your cheeks having a reddish tint due to crying for almost half an hour now.
"Shitty birds," you muttered, annoyed at the fact that you were disturbed from your sad hours by a mere bird.
But when you slid the curtains to one side, you were surprised to see your boyfriend below holding a cup full of pebbles while his free hand was holding a box of what seemed like buffalo wings.
You could even see him trying to say something but due to the window acting as a barrier, you can't hear any of what he was saying.
Carefully, you slid the window up and squinted your eyes a bit to get a good look at Osamu. "I... What are you doing here, 'Samu? It's not really a good time," you said, loud enough for him to hear but hopefully not too loud to wake your parents up.
"Ya weren't replyin', baby! I brought ya somethin'!" Osamu shouted before placing his cup of pebbles to the side.
With his athletic body, he climbed his way up your room, carefully using a nearby tree as his personal ladder. Once he was up, he handed you the box of food before making his way inside and shutting the window behind him.
"I'm really lucky yer window's big enough to fit me," Osamu said as soon as he stepped in.
His gaze went over the littered tissues on the floor together with the tub of icecream and the notebook playing on your television in a low volume. "Ya were crying," he stated before walking over your figure, enveloping you in his arms without being told. "Is that why yer not replyin'?"
You could only nod in his arms, your face pressed against chest as you sniffled ever so slightly. "I'm sorry, it's just my parents," you said in a low voice before looking up at him.
Seeing your tear streaked face made his heart break. Gently, he cupped your cheek to wipe your tears away before leaning down to graze his lips on your forehead. "Ya wanna talk about it? or would ya prefer I hold ya instead in silence?"
You felt a little smile making its way to your lips, appreciating the fact that he remembered how sometimes you would prefer silence than talking about your problems. But this was Osamu we're talking about, and with Osamu, you're transparent. You were honest and you knew that he won't leave you no matter how bad is the situation you're in.
"How about you hold me as we talk?" you suggested.
Osamu was quick to nod. Bending slightly, he lifted you in his arms, his hands holding your thighs to support your weight as he carried you to the bed. He settled himself down first before laying you on top of him, your body in between his legs with your head laying against his chest.
"What happened?" he asked as he tucked a strand of your hair behind your ear.
From that simple question, you felt your eyes brim with tears as the feeling of anxiousness and heaviness in your chest awhile ago once again resurfaced. "It's just... my parents have too expectations for me. They would constantly check up on me and ask regarding my academic performance and my grades. I mean... there's nothing wrong with that, except whenever they notice a simple mistake or see something that doesn't please them, they say these shitty words to me about how I'm not good enough and how I'll end up as nobody in the future. I'm scared, 'Samu. What if-"
"Hey, baby. Listen to me okay?" Osamu wiped your tears with the back of his hand before continuing, "Nobody knows what the future holds. Ya can be the worst in yer field today and still end up one of the best in the future or the other way around. What they say is not what ya are. Yer good enough, the best even, and whatever happens or whatever yer parents say, ya have me. I'll be with ya all the way so please don't be too harsh on yerself. Ya make me proud, ya know that right?"
You nodded silently and leaned your cheek into his hand, allowing his touch to give you some sense of comfort.
As you sobbed, Osamu could only stare at you and rub your back with his free hand, a worried expression visible in his eyes as he hoped that you'll soon feel better. "Yer so important to me that I hate the sight of ya cryin'," he whispered.
When your cries had finally settled into small hiccups, Osamu placed his hand on your jaw, angling your face to look at him. "I love ya so much. Never ferget that."
"I love you too," you answered without hesitation.
And as the night went on, Osamu continued to hold you, his fingers gently massaging your scalp to help you fall asleep better. The low murmurs of the characters from the movie filled the room, yet none of you cared since no matter the place you're in, you were at peace because you had each other.

Sing You To Sleep | Chiluc Week Day 2
College AU/Only one bed/preforming arts
Chiluc Fluff | M/M
TW: Explicit Language
â
âââââââââââââââââââââ
âThis is absolutely not happening.â He whispered under his breath, nails biting into his palms as he marveled at the vast room before him. The view of the city was beautiful, the balcony promising endless nights of twinkling lights and gorgeous starry skies. A full sized bed in the centre of the room lured him forwards, gently laying down his violin case to succumb to the soft sheets of the bed.
He took in a deep breath, relaxing as the faintest of smiles shyly touched his lips. The warmth of the linens was enough to almost lull him to sleep. To his dismay, a knock rang through the small room just as his eyes began to close. Hesitantly, he sat up, walking to the door to find his professor and a classmate behind him. Childe.
âMister Ragnvindr,â he nodded, turning to present the out of breath ginger than gave a cheeky grin, monster and guitar case in hand, âDue to the sudden addition to the performances this week and lack of available rooms, Ajax here will be sharing this room with you for the remainder of this week.â And there goes his brief moment of relaxation. Gone within seconds.
Of course heâd be the one to pair with him. There had been an odd amount of people who had signed up for the trip to the Mondstadt Theatre, well known judges and critics there to give them feedback and training before their big show by the end of the week. He just so happened to get the short end of the stick and be the only person with their own room. It was nice for the five minutes it lasted.
It was rather rude the way Professor Zhongli had pushed him into the hotel room â his eyebrows stuck in a permanent state of irritation with each twitch as he tried to keep a friendly smile. Childe had stumbled in, eyes wide and glued to the guitar case, stickers and writing covering the case. They looked likeâŠchildren drawings? Perplexed, Diluc saw it fit to ignore the matter for now.
âHeyâŠuhm,â a subtle hint of pink dusted along the otherâs cheeks, stretching to his ears, âYouâre that violin player right? With the solo this week?â
âYeah, what about it?â His voice was heavy and almost intimidatingâŠif it wasnât for his beauty.
âI just thoughtâŠwell, IâŠyouâre just really cool.â He stuttered, his voice soft as he scratched at his birdâs nest of hair. It was rather endearing the way he was soâŠso shy around him. Typically heâd see him causing some form of ruckus at the college, in the middle of class. Always having crazy ideas to try different notes here and there, different instruments in one piece and another singer in this piece. Yet, when it came to Dilucâs performances and practices, heâd be silent. Dead silent, eyes wide in a childish wonder and fascination that always confused Diluc. It confused him to a point heâd try to ignore it but no matter how hard he tried, heâd always be there, eyes sparkling in amazement in the corner of his eye.
âThank you.â It was blunt, quick and straight to the point. He wasnât in the mood to dwell on such pitiful small talk. It annoyed him, wasted his timeâŠnot that he had anything to do to begin with. To be honest, for some reason, the other had annoyed him. Annoyed him so much so he found himself rolling his eyes subconsciously.
ââŠThereâs only one bed.â Horrified, Dilucâs head turned to look at the full sized bed that once promised peaceful nights, now mock him. It mocked him as the faint sounds of car horns blared in the background, drowned out by his anxiety that prickled and pinched at his skin, âI can sleep on the floor.â His kindness was a harsh stab to his gut. Of course he had to be this nice to him after he berates him in the deepest corners of his mind.
âItâll be alright, weâll just put a pillow in between us.â Him and his stupid puppy dog eyes guilt tripping him and making him feel bad. Fuck him for being cute. Dilucâs cheeks flushed a deep red at the sudden thought. Surely not. No. Absolutely not. There was no way he found Childe cute.
He found Childe cute.
Earlier that afternoon he had bought them food, insisting on buying the most expensive food he could find, and coming back with enough food to hold them over until dinner. Heâd gone off to explore, giving Diluc the option to go withâŠand when he returned, he came in with bags in multiple sizes, an elated grin plastered on his face.
âThis is for you!â He handed him a bag and inside it was a numerous amount of keychains â animals all in the color red and a little rose keychain inside, âI didnât know what to get you.â There were a lot of red items, a dog, cat, pheonix, a slime, you name it, it was probably buried in the vast amounts of knick knack items. He remembered trying to give them back, desperately trying to get him to take them backâŠyet he insisted he keep them. So he had, attaching the phoenix keychain to his violin case.
When night came he was more than anxious. His heart would thump in his chest, his mind busy with far too many what ifs and possibilities for sleep to come easy. Surely he knew he detested him. Why else would he go off and spend his money on such intricacies? It didnât make any sense. He was sure he disliked him. Of course, hisâŠassumption was quickly disproven.
With fiery cheeks and wide scarlet eyes, he caught glimpse of Ajax â black sweats with droplets of water streaming against every dip and crevice of his upper body. He could hear a faint wince, the sound muffled by the towel he used to dry his hair. The pull and twitch of every muscle didnât aid Diluc in stilling his heart and gathering his breath.
âSorry about that,â he laughed, his voice light and airy as he headed to his shirt, discarded and almost forgotten on the floor, âDropped it on my way over,â Slipping it on, it was rather baggy, the sleeves coming down to his elbows as he yawned.
âRight, IâllâŠâ he paused, cerulean blue eyes gazing down at him, âIâm gonna go down to the lobby to see if they sell teaâŠyou can head to bed if youâd like.â He smiled softly, his kindhearted demeanor â far calmer than his normal chaotic self â was rather off putting. It made Dilucâs spine shiver with anxiety and his skin rise with goosebumps. He watched as he headed out the door and for a brief moment, he wasnât sure what to do with his freedom.
Deciding to wear a faded, gray sweater and black shorts, he turned off most of the lights, leaving on the desk light for when Ajax had returned. Undoing his hair tie, he crawled beneath the sheets, letting his weight sink into the soft mattress. He wasnât sure how long he was alone in the hotel room, but he heard the soft click of the door opening, the lights twinkling and distant sound of cars driving below not doing much to overpower the quiet noise to ease his worry.
He could hear every step he took â they were hesitant and quiet, almost scared to move in fear of waking him up. Truthfully, Ajax had never been more terrified. Part of him wanted to check and make sure he was asleep, but he knew if he had, he wouldnât be able to look away. Diluc Ragnvindr was beautiful. Far beautiful than anyone heâs ever laid eyes onâŠso to even be allowed to sleep beside him doesnât feel right. He doesnât feel like he should. So his best bet?
His acoustic guitar. It would be loud, without a doubt, but heâd play it out on the balcony and keep the door shut. It wouldnât do much but it would be enough. So, undoing the clasps of his case, his fingers running over the pictures Teucer, Anthon and Tonia drew for him, he gently picked up his acoustic from itâs case as he slipped outside.
Sitting outside, he let himself be soothed by the gentle breeze, the pads of his fingers coming to rest flat against the strings before he strummed, checking each string to tune them before mindlessly playing. It didnât take much, it was almost second nature. He could stare off and simply play, his calloused hands having a mind of their own.
There were numerous questions that poked and prodded at Dilucâs mind, all of which he chose to ignore in favor of listening to him play. The sound was beautiful, he couldnât help but get swept up within its current, letting it drag him into a sense of security he hadnât felt in quiet sometime. Minus how rambunctious Ajax could be at timesâŠhe was rather relaxed.
Choosing to set that aside for now, he could smell the aroma of the tea, chamomile, as itâs scent filled the rather small space. Leaving the comforting, warm embrace of the bedsheets, he covered his hands in the sweater as he carried the scalding hot cup of tea out to him. The slide of the door was enough to grab his attention and he swore he could feel his heart almost jump out of his throat.
He was stunning. Too cute for him to handle in all honesty. His hair a fountain of red as his locks began to shine under the city lights. Part of him desperately wanted to run his fingers through his hair, braid it, brush even if he was just cradling his head, heâd be satisfied.
âYour tea will get cold.â His voice was quiet. Very quiet. Almost out of the ordinary. Perhaps it was because of how tired he was.
âI didnât wake you did I?â
âNo, it takes me awhile to sleep. You didnât wake me up.â His kindness felt out of place. Sudden. Ajax wasnât sure what to make of it, he was so used to Diluc giving him the cold shoulder, it was different having him treat him like this.
âLet me sing for you?â It was abrupt as he gulped, his jaw clenched as he searched those scarlet eyes. From where he sat he couldnât see a single sign of hatred or resentment.
âSing for me?â Ajax nodded, as he gently set the guitar against the wall.
âI could help you sleep tonight. Only if youâre okay with that though.â Diluc knew why he accepted his offer, he just wasnât ready to accept it yet. Ajax wasnât a bad personâŠhe was justâŠAjax. There wasnât much else he could say. Maybe he just needed to hang around with him for a little while longer and get to know him better. This seemed like a nice start though. For now.
Crawling back into the warm linens of the sheet, his hair pooled around him as the soft pillows sunk under his head. The taller male slid in beside him, practically melting into the warmth of the bed as the comforter covered them both.
âAny requests?â He smiled, the small pull in his lips reminding Diluc that yes, he was in fact sharing a rather small bed with Ajax.
âI donât care, so long as they arenât children lullabies,â he grumbled, fingers twisting in the bed sheets as his eyes fluttered shut from time to time. Turning on his side more, Childe studied him, thinking briefly before lying on his back. It was just to help him sleep, he wouldnât get onto him about form would he? All well, guess heâll found out in the morning.
âFly me to the moon sound good to you?â He whispered as he turned his head. His breath catching in his throat. He was relaxed, his cheek resting against his palm as he hummed. The faint blue lights seemed to make his skin glow even more.
âYeahâŠ,â he whispered as his shoulders sank forward. So thatâs what he did, he sang for him. His face burning bright enough to light up the room as tiny snores soon filled the room. He didnât mean for his eyelids to get so heavy. For him to fall asleep next to him, the promise of a pillow to separate them quickly forgotten as they bathed in each otherâs warmth.
âIn other wordsâŠ,â he mumbled as his heavy arm came down to wrap around his waist, âInâŠother wordsâŠ.â, he voice became a hushed whisper, eyes falling shut as the end of the song rang in his head.
I love you.
*
Waking in a panic to find himself cuddled beneath Ajax, he shoved him off the bed, a loud thud ringing through the room.
âOw! Fucking shitâ!â Curses and a mix of Russian spewed from his mouth as he held his head.
âIâm so sorry, are you okay?â Dilucâs panic didnât ease as he groaned, laying flat against the floor.
âJustâŠjust give me a moment,â he sighed, laying flat against the floor.
âCâmon and sit on the bed, Iâll go get ice for your head.â

A commission for the wonderful and kind @atalantaroars! She wanted a meet-cute with the monster match I wrote for her awhile ago. Hope you all enjoy the hunky water boi as much as I did creating him!
There are two options for you today: hike a trail, or go one more week in the stifling silence of your house and go absolutely insane. It doesnât take much mental convincing to pack up a little backpack with snacks and water, waking up while the sun is barely more than a hint in the sky. This might not be your usual mode of operation, to drop everything and spend time out in nature despite whatever responsibilities you still have at home, but youâve been pushed to the fucking brink lately and need to spice things up.
Thereâs an unmistakable scent of growth the moment you step out of your car, one that calls your body forward as if you say welcome home. You take in a few long, deep breaths, trying to let the cold morning air medicate your soul in the only way nature can, a deep sense of relaxation overcoming your mind and body as you try to clear your worries away. Only when you feel mentally ready to take on the hike, do you approach the entrance of the nature reserve.
A large, wooden board is painted with the many different trails you can take, all winding around the mountain range, labeled with various symbols that indicate difficulty levels. While you donât think you could manage one of the more difficult ones, you also think you might not find much fulfillment in one of the easier paths, so you settle for one a bit in the middle. This trail should wrap around one of the valleys, following the main river that brings life to a neighboring town, one fed by the melting snow from the tips of the higher peaks.
Everything is quiet, peaceful, you donât see anyone else as you begin to walk the trail, basking in the sunlight before itâs drowned out by the towering trees. Birds chirp as you continue on, sticking close to the side of the matted dirt, right where vegetation dares to attempt growing. Wildflowers dot the side of the hill as the earth swells upward, white, light blue, and yellow smattering color amidst the green. The air is almost shockingly different from what youâre used to, your body is trying to compensate for the freshness, but it doesnât quite know how yet.
When you take a break, the sun is already high in the sky, sweat now beading down your forehead. The water you carelessly packed tastes divine, you have to be careful not to drink too much or too fast, saving most of it for later. You even eat your lunch when you get to a pile of rocks that work as a table and seat, the flat, elevated surface perfect for tossing your food onto without worrying about it falling off.
Once you are satisfied that youâve explored the trail as long as you desire, you decide that itâs about time to head back. Even though your path into the forest seemed straightforward and easy to remember, there are suddenly several branching paths that you didnât even realize you passed just moments before⊠which isnât good, to say the least. Biting your bottom lip hard enough to taste blood, you try to logic yourself into taking the one that seems like it blends seamlessly into the trail youâre walking.
Or maybe it would be best to keep going in the direction you were already heading, after all, the trails are supposed to loop around and head back to the parking lot, the keyword here being eventually. Some of them are supposed to take a seasoned hiker a full day, and you donât remember how long this certain one is going to take because you had decided previously that you would turn back anyways.
Letting out a breath, you decide that it might be a better option to take the more straightforward path instead of risk getting lost, so you tighten the straps of your backpack and keep walking. As you go, you think about how best to ration whatâs left of your water, in case youâre in for a much longer hike than you initially anticipated because youâre not sure if you can realistically make it.
You take another well-needed rest after a long while, trying to close your eyes and chill out, trying to find the same solace in nature that you felt earlier in the morning. Instead of that same, peaceful aura that settled around your body in a soft, gentle wave, you only feel more tense and anxious as you did before. The sounds of the forest are no longer warm and inviting, the screech of cicada is now like a hard, ugly accusation, the occasional snapping of twigs donât fill your heart up with the thought of life, and the skyâs tone seems to turn almost a hateful gray as the sun makes an almost hasty descent.
Up ahead, thereâs a river, and if you remember correctly, civilization is often downstream. Letting out a breath, crossing your arms over your chest, you look down at the water, internally fighting over what you should do. After a long moment of contemplation, you decide to stick to the trail, but just as you take a step on the crunching gravel, you spot someone over by the water. To say you almost tripped over yourself to get to them wouldnât be an understatement; you almost bite the dust before you were able to catch your balance.
After regaining your stability and taking a second look, you realize with no small amount of shock that the man appears to not only be petting a deer but also⊠talking to it? You can hear the voice he uses on it, soft, soothing tones, clearly offering comfort of some kind. Whatever he is doing must be working, because the deer slowly stops thrashing about, itâs squeaking cries slowly dissipating as it seems to melt back into a state of calm.
Even though his back is towards you, he seems to sense your presence, because thereâs an underlying tenseness in his body posture. Once the deer doesnât seem too anxious anymore, he says, without so much as turning around, âI know youâre out there, at least do me the service of showing your face.â
âUm,â you say, after a moment unsure of what else to do, but introduce yourself, âhi. Iâm very lost right now.â
When he doesnât immediately respond, you wonder if he maybe was referencing some other person that is also hiding in the woods?
âI suspected,â he pets at a deer you hadnât noticed prior, glancing up at you only after he manages to calm the creature down from its initial panic, âwe donât get a lot of your kind out this deep in the forest.â
âEr,â you look over at the deer, who seems to be regarding you with the utmost suspicion, âyeah, I wasnât really planning on coming this deep into the forest, either. But, like, if you could point me in the direction of the parking lot, or literally any major highway, that would be absolutely fantastic.â
It takes you a moment to realize that heâs a massive, as in, you knew he was large for a man when you approached him, but youâre just now processing it all. He very well could be some kind of action movie star, his muscles, face shape, and stature all suggest that heâs very, very important, and you should pay attention to everything he says. As you watch him, he seems to look upwards at the sky, brow furrowed as though doing many mental calculations, then sighs.
âYou wonât be able to leave this pocket of the forest until morning,â he says, releasing his steady hand on the deerâs flank.
âUm, what?â You arenât sure if you heard him correctly, but youâre pretty certain he did not tell you that you canât leave. âHow is that even supposed to work? I came in through the main trail, surely thereâs a way back.â
âNot once the sun is no longer in the sky.â He picks up a stick from the nearby banks, and now you realize that while his lower half is in the water, itâs not⊠itâs not human colors, more like⊠a kaleidoscope of some kind? Like heâs wearing those fancy mermaid tails, the kind you can buy off the internet, except what reason could he possibly have to wear one in the middle of a forest? âYou will have to wait for night to run its course before you can return.â
âNo, Iâm pretty sure thatâs not how basic geography works,â you say, tensing at the thought of spending however many hours the sun is gone out in the wilderness.
âIt has nothing to do with basic geography, and you will do well to heed my words,â the man almost snaps, only marginally restraining himself from sounding rude. âThis part of the forest encloses once the sun sinks below the horizon, and opens when it returns. It is this way to protect what little of Gaiaâs children are left from your kind.â
You swallow nervously, not believing him in the slightest, so you think over your options in the meantime. There isnât a lot for you to work with, your phone has no signal, and using your flashlight will eat up the battery fast than you might be able to find your way back to the main trail. Still, youâd rather be apart from him, even though he hasnât given you any weird vibes beyond the obvious, you donât want to be stuck here with him overnight.
So you do what you think is best, turning around and heading back for the trail, except there isnât any trail. And by that, even though you were just walking on a gravel pathway barely more than five minutes ago, and you know it was in this direction, itâs nowhere to be found. Sucking in your breath, you close your eyes and count to ten, then whirl around and march back to where the man still lounges, halfway in the stream.
Trying to keep your voice from wobbling, you ask, âcan you please point me to the regular trail? I think I⊠um, misplaced it.â
He pokes the water with the stick without looking at you, âyou wonât find it until sunrise.â
Swallowing thickly, you try to say without trembling, âI donât understand.â
With a sigh, he turns to the sandy banks, using the stick to draw a rudimentary chart, and in the dying light of dusk, you can manage to make out what heâs trying to convey. âThis is the land of Gaia,â he draws out a circle, âwhich is the world you are familiar with. It is the physical plane at its most fundamental levels, meat and bone and blood grow and churn within the earth mother and her offspring. This land- this forest, is not a part of Gaiaâs form,â here, her draws another bubble, halfway in the larger circle, halfway out, âhalfway physical, but able to separate as it needs to. Do you understand?â
âNot really,â you say, trying to be truthful, and still just as anxious and frightened as ever.
He lets out a frustrated breath and tries to reiterate, âthis separate pocket of world that can be hidden away or entirely separated on its own, and closes itself off once the sun sets. You must have stumbled over the boundaries while you were wandering, did you end up seeming to go around in circles on paths that donât make any sense?â
Oh, god. âI- yes.â
âExactly what I thought.â Thereâs a shimmering glimmer in your periphery, and you realize that his lower half is, in fact, a tail. âIâm sorry to inform you that youâre just going to be stuck here overnight.â
You feel absolutely defeated, miserable, broken, because how the hell are you supposed to be handling this now? Apparently, youâre trapped in some sort of fucking pocket dimension, and you canât do anything about it, and the only other person here to help you is some sort of merman who seems less than pleased to be in your presence.
âSo I just⊠wait here?â Youâre doing your best to not cry, goddamnit. No fucking tears. In the meantime, youâre digging around your backpack for your can of bear spray, of which should completely wreck the man should he try to make the wrong move.
âI suppose,â he softens, just a bit, âyou can stay here with me, because there are things roaming these woods that wouldnât dare approach you so long as I am here.â
Oh, wonderful. âThat would be nice,â you mumble, plopping yourself onto a rock, folding your legs up and making yourself seem small.
The woods are never really silent, so even though the two of you share no conversation, there is a background filled to the brim with dozens of different noises. Nocturnal creatures begin to creep out of their homes, an owl hooting just close enough for you to make out its specific call, crickets still chirping despite the descent of the sun, and the crunching of stray twigs and leaves upon the ground suggests a silent stalker. Youâre suddenly thrilled to have accepted this odd manâs offer to stay by his side for the night.
The stars blink down, twinkling in the sky, almost like each individual eyes staring down at you from above. You remember that Ancient Greeks believe that each cluster used to be a living thing- Caster and Pollux, Cassiopea, Orion, and so on, people who died and then ascended into the sky to watch the earth below. You wonder if they are like guardians, keeping the inhabitants of the ground safe from anything that lurks in the depths of the void above, or if they are merely passing observers to whatever happens around them, trapped in time.
âSo,â you swallow almost painfully, trying to make some conversation, âhow do you know so much about the way this, um, pocket dimension thing works?â
âI told you that Gaia herself is protecting her children,â he says, not impatiently, nor unkindly. âThe last effort to keep Prometheusâ biggest mistake at bay.â
âRight, of course,â you say, not believing him in the very slightest. âAnd you live here, then? With the blessings of Gaia?â
âOf course,â he says it like thereâs no other possibility, âshe looks after her children.â
âAnd Iâm just a spawn of Prometheus?â You say it with some amount of humor, poking at his weird explanations, but he takes it seriously.
âEven if there are those here who would have you killed, just to chew your bones between their teeth and taste your blood. I will not allow that to happen.â
âOh,â you say, trying not to sound awkward about it, âthank you.â
Silence follows, and you hear some crunching of leaves accompanying the water trickling through its creek. Still, youâd rather not spend the night in awkward silence, so you chew your bottom lip and try to quickly come up with something else to talk about. Anything. You wonder if he might know about modern devices, or if he would even care, but you need to reassure yourself now that itâs too dark to see that heâs still there.
As though reading your thoughts, he speaks first. âTell me about your home.â
Relief fills your veins, so you do. You spill your guts like youâre at a confessional and itâs your death day, opening up every single crevice of your life back in reality and letting it pour out of your mouth like a broken dam. Where you were born, where you lived, where you moved, school, the people who went to school, friends, families, enemies. Not necessarily in that order, the night goes so shockingly fast that you barely keep track of what youâve already said. You tell him about cities, about corporations, about countries, about charities. Humanity at both its best and its worst, and even what happens in between.
Heâs a good listener, too, offering questions here and there, following your train of thought even though sometimes it doesnât even make sense to you. He seems to be able to pick up on any gaps of logic youâve forgotten to say, asking for clarification on some things, wishing for more detail on others, even requesting information about kingdoms you know havenât existed for hundreds of years. And⊠better yet, he seems to enjoy talking to you.
âSo,â you say, putting on your jacket to fight the biting night chill, âdoes this part of the forest happen every single night?â
âYes,â he says, and you may be imagining it, but you think there might be some kind of tone of relief in his voice. âYes, the forests merge every day, only to part during the night.â
âTheoretically, then,â you fan your fingers out, folding them together, âI could come back. To⊠like, visit, or something.â
âIf you wanted to, then yes, you most certainly could.â
You close your eyes tight, shutting out the stars and the moon. âI mean, I wouldnât want to impose or anything, but like, if youâd want to know more about the modern human world, I could come back prepared. With like, an iPad and a PowerPoint ready.â
âWould you?â He sounds a bit mystified, and you realize you probably didnât cover those two things during your talks. As he mulls it over, the first element of daytime bashfully pokes out from the trees, the sky lighting just enough to swallow up the stars.
âIf you wanted my company.â
âYes,â he says very firmly, âyouâreâŠ. Fascinating, a very fascinating specimen of your species. I do not sense any bloodlust that Iâve heard is so very common in your kind.â
Thatâs the nicest thing heâs said about you, and you find your chest thundering in response. âTha-thank you, I guess.â
âAnd I would also like to see this iPad and PowerPoint.â
You feel your cheeks redden slightly. âOkay. Itâs a deal.â

He surrounded himself with the low basses of the new song he was stuck on, immersing himself with the music he had made so far yet there were no lyrics to go with it. He leaned back in his chair for the nth time with a sigh, rubbing his eyes with the palm of his hands. How did this happen? The world around him, the world he knew, thought he knew, felt who distorted. He felt empty and he could tell it was already getting to him. Within his own creating process, he usually did these two parts hand in hand: playing with synthesizers, producing various beats, different rhythms and the lyrics would flood his mind like a plague. It felt like the gears in his mind would turn faster and faster, soaring higher into the sky on his little cloud Lyrics would flow through his head like a river after a storm. But nothing came. The world felt like it was crumbling beneath his feet as he sat in his chair, the lights in his studio dimmed down with only his monitors and equipment being his only source of distraction.
He felt drained when he did only a small fraction of what he usually did and he knew why. You. He rubbed the shiny ring around his ring finger out of habit whenever he was deep in thought or just missing you. He loved you, yes. You were his bride to be, yes. Though, the thought of you after what he saw today made a fire burn inside of him. He hated how deep the pit inside of him was. No matter how many times he thought it over, the pit grew a little bit deeper with no resolution. Leaning forward, he rested his elbows on his knees, resting his forehead in his folded hands as he went through the day in his mind, once again.
The bedroom was filled with a haze that felt like pure home. The aura in the room would make the two of you feel truly at home and nothing could replace it. The room was still with slumber, the bed sheets wrinkled from how much the two of you turned in bed. It was a bit messy but it was cozy and it was home. The room was spacious for the two of you with simple white walls, gray curtains, and a fuzzy carpet.
Feeling your mind come alive, one thought appeared after the other like flowers blooming after seeing the sun after a spell of time, you woke to the soft touch of Changkyunâs arms wrapped loosely around your waist, his low breaths tickling your ear. His body was warm feeling his chest pressed against your back. Your lips naturally curled upward as you turned in his arms, resting half of your body on his, your chin meeting his arm with your leg rubbed against his. He looked so comfortable whenever he slept which made you want to go back to sleep most of the time. You cupped his face in your hand, your eyes unable to leave his features- the face, the person, the soul you fell in love with a few years ago. Your ring glistened in the faint sunlight that shone through the curtains, the precious gem sparkling into your eyes, the thing you that told you you were really his and a similar thing on his finger, signifying he was really yours. His skin was smooth under your thumb as you lightly grazed his cheek, making a curve line by rubbing your thumb side to side. Your brought your face closer to his, taking his face with your other hand, unable to get enough of the love of your life.
He suddenly brought your hands up, bringing them around yours. He caught your hands in his, the one he grew to love the more he held them, the longer he held them. They fit so well in his hands like puzzle pieces.
âGood morning, to you too,â his voice was deep and rich, making your heart flutter in his chest as he brought your hands to his lips, pressing a kiss to them. âYouâre up early,â he spoke, tucking a strand of hair behind you ear. He wrapped his leg around yours beneath the cover. The two of you were tangled with each other on the bed, almost always, taking in the feeling of having you in his arms and his skin on yours. It was a feeling he basked in, never getting tired of being around you or your touch on his skin, in his body.
âI did go to sleep earlier than you,â you said, which was true. By the time Changkyun returned from the studio, you were fast asleep. It wasnât his fault he had to stay so late, though. A comeback for the group was approaching, a couple weeks away and as they gained popularity, they had to top the last comeback. They had their own flavor when it came to their music, the sound of their songs, the way they moved to the music, how they looked, everything- they had their own flavor when it came to what they did and they made sure everyone never forgot the taste they created. But making this taste took time, sacrifice, things like experiences that you sometimes may never get back, but meeting you, Changkyun didnât care about how many experiences he missed out on if it meant a different one with you by his side for the rest of his life. Â
âHow about you, then? You were at the studio all day. I didnât even get to see you,â you pouted just a little, teasing him. After being together for awhile now, you adapted to his lifestyle since it was distinctly different. He called and texted whenever he could but he buried himself away in his cave of a studio with Jooheon and other producers when it was time to create.
âWell, I felt my beautiful fiancĂ© awake so I just had to wake up to see her beautiful face,â his voice quiet as he leaned his head your closer, pressing a light kiss to your forehead. âBut Iâm all yours today. We can do whatever you want.â
The two of you eventually slid out of bed, stepping into the bathroom. The two of you were best friends, lovers, and now each otherâs fiancĂ©. You two were glued hip and hip in the bathroom as the two of you brushed your teeth, jamming to the music that played on his phone. He occasionally leaned over and bumped his hip to yours to the beat of the music, his eyes unable to leave your reflection in the mirror. Heâd already seen all of you that he could but the feelings, the butterflies that fluttered in his chest always felt new.
Throughout the house, the walls were decorated with pictures of you and him, some taken with friends and the walls always having enough space for future memories to be made and experienced. It wasnât the biggest house, wasnât the smallest either, but it was home where he could be who he was with you beside him. He prepared breakfast downstairs as you got dressed and he stayed in his pajamas, which was really just his bare upper body while he wore sweats but you didnât mind at all- it just meant you had two meals to savor. The kitchen was filled with a sweet aroma as he made waffle after waffle, pouring syrup over his own stack and added the toppings you liked for your own stack. His raspy voice sang along to the songs that played on his phone, in his own little world. He didnât even hear your steps over the cool tiled floor, only noticing you when you snaked your hands around him from behind, resting your head on his back between his shoulder blades.
You sung along to the other part of the song that happened to be playing, this time it was your turn to rock side by side with him. He smiled widely, feeling himself melt when your voice matched so well with the music. He could listen to you sing endlessly but whenever he tried to get you to sing with him, you shied away. It was such a prize for him whenever you sang. He soaked up the way your voice reverberated off the walls, your voice matching the original singerâs voice with little effort. He couldnât contain the smile that spread on his face, his dimples caved in on his cheeks, the way you peppered kisses on his shoulder blade, the way your featherlike touch tickled his shoulder as you traced over his tattoos. God he was so sexy in your eyes and for him, he couldnât get enough of you.
He took your hands in his once again and turned in your grasp, meeting your face. You wore a simple, casual shirt with sweatpants, your hair messily tied up but he never cared. What you wore or how you looked never hindered his feelings for you. You didnât have to doll up your face, caking makeup over it to hide your natural skin tone, âblemishesâ according to society which were deemed to be imperfect but you looked so human to him. You looked so natural and raw compared to others today. You were you. Your voices filled the kitchen as he began to sing with you, singing horribly off key to make you laugh, which worked. As the waffle cooked, he twirled you around, spinning you around all over the kitchen but also kept a close eye on it so it wouldnât burn. The only lights in the kitchen was a single ray of sunshine that peeked in, shining onto the ground and the light over stove but it was enough. He could adore you in any lighting and never get bored as you felt the same for him. It felt like it was humanly impossible to love someone this much but here he was loving you. You made him feel vulnerable but he could feel so vividly how you felt about him, it drove him a bit crazy for him to think how infatuated he was with you.
He pulled out the chair for you, pushing it in as you sat down. With the stove fan off, the house was suddenly still and peaceful, occasionally hearing birds singing outside. It was such a perfect day for the two of you and he wanted time to slow down already before it even began. He brought over the stacks of waffles and a plate of extras he had prepared along with a tray of toppings to the side of the neatly yet also aesthetically pleasing table he had organized for the two of you to share breakfast. To be extra fancy for the hell of it, Changkyun poured two glasses of orange juice in tall wine glasses.
âHappy anniversary.â He raised his glass before the two of you could begin eating.
âHappy anniversary, Kyunnie.â You brought your glass to his with a clink. You stood up and brought your lips to his for a sweet kiss before he could take a sip, feeling the smile spread on his lips as he thought about what he mustâve done in his past life to have you in his life. Today marked the day the two of you got together as a couple four years ago.
Pacing around his studio, Changkyun was restless. He couldnât keep himself still when his mind accelerated. The place he felt like he could escape to only comforted him a little. How did the day that was meant to be spent celebrating the day the two of you got together end up like this? He could only imagine what his phone mustâve been going through but he tossed that thought to the side, the urge to check his phone away. He discarded the device to his couch when he came to the studio, locking himself in. Did he really mean anything to you? He couldnât believe it, he couldnât believe what you did today, what he saw today. He tried to drown himself in the music, failing to do so as he resurfaced again and again, his mind resurfacing to you.
âI can go with you,â he said, standing from his spot at his desk, his personal little studio at home and leaned in the doorway to his little office. Â
âNo, really Kyun. I think itâll be faster if I just go alone,â you insisted, a bit rushed as you slipped into your shoes. âAh, I really have to go. Iâll see you later today,â you said as you checked your phone, barely sparing him a glance as you spoke. You rushed the kiss you left on his cheek, your eyes still glued to your phone. He could see how your lips twitched as you tried to hide a smile, only letting it show when you were halfway out the door, rushing away. What was going on?
Changkyun usually went with the flow of things but with you, with the way you were acting just now, he couldnât help but let suspicion percolate in his body. It was unnatural of you. And it really said something since he trusted you with his life. He anticipated today to spend time together, enjoying each other on your guysâ special day. No big gifts or surprises or anything but you left him alone without telling him anything, leaving him in the dark.
Out of instinct and curiosity spiked with suspicion, he quickly got dressed into something casual, jeans, a t-shirt, and a hooded jacket, and headed out. He made his way toward the street shopping center that was only a couple blocks away from your house. The roads were purposefully closed for only pedestrians and shoppers and on the long street, there were multiple shopping stores and people packed this area at night, especially during summer when multitudes of vendors opened, selling delicious foods and offered many games, bargaining with tourists and locals. With a quick jog, he realized two things: first, you werenât a fast walker since he was able to see you walk into a cafe after successfully catching up, spotting you out of pure luck and second, he really needed to hit the gym again. The way he was struggling to catch his breath after a five minute jog from the house blew his mind as he panted clutching his chest in exaggeration. He panted and stepped into the store across the street of the cafe. It was a little store but filled with stationery. Many young adults filled the shop as they did their own things, making the perfect curtain for Changkyun to see you. From here, he pretended to shop while having a clear way to see you in the cafe. The area was somewhat busy since it was still early but it surprised him how many places were open already and people were already shopping. However, he used this to his advantage so he could easily hide and blend in if you were to ever see him.
When he saw you sit by yourself at the cafe, eyes again glued to your phone, he suddenly felt a wave of reality wash over him. He began to smile, laughing at himself for coming all the way here, mentally slapping himself for even letting his mind stray to doubting you as the first thing when you acted strange. You sat with your own drink but he still wondered why you didnât just tell him- he wouldâve been fine bringing you here himself or even getting some to bring back. But before he left, he stood still when he saw you suddenly look at someone, standing from your seat to give them a hug. Suddenly, everyone around him went silent, the store he stood in went quiet but in reality, it was just his world that went mute. He felt himself freeze in place as he looked across the empty street to the cafe, seeing you smile fondly with Hyungwon, leaving with him. Why were you with Hyungwon of all people? Why didnât you tell him you were with a member of his group? Why were you with Hyungwon? On your anniversary of all days as well.
In search of a clear answer, he continued to follow the two of you from a safe distance, always going into the store across the street or wherever he could across the street, keeping a close eye on the two of you. Questions kept appearing in his mind the longer he followed the two you going deeper into the street, shopping for a longer time in multiple stores together, very close side by side. You led him from store to store, the conversation never seeming to end between the two of you. The clothes store, jewelry store, grocery store, etc. Why were you with Hyungwon? It was this question he kept asking himself but couldnât think of a reason as to why. You held up shirts and sweaters, smiling, only to put it back after you shook your head and had a brief discussion and Hyungwon looked at it, holding it up to his own body.
It felt like his spirit was being crushed to dust the longer he had to watch you smile at another man, a taller, skinnier, more handsome man that he envied knowing how many people adored him.
But he slapped himself mentally once again, harder this time. There mustâve been a clear answer and you would tell him right? You two were going to be married after all. Reaching into his pocket, he dialed your phone number, the number he called the most out of all his contacts. He watched carefully, hearing the device call yours in his ear.
You paused the conversation hearing your phone ring in your pocket. You suddenly froze a bit when you saw it was Changkyun.
âHello?â You spoke calmly on the phone but he didnât miss the gesture you made to pause Hyungwonâs words, the way the light around your persona dimmed just the slightest when you saw his name on your phone.
âHey, where are you?â He asked, pretending he wasnât hurt. Putting on the facade he was clueless, the facade that everything was okay and he didnât feel a wound being slowly pierced into his chest.
âKyun, I canât talk. Iâll be home later, okay?â You evaded, giving a glance to Hyungwon as he watched you speak.
âYeah, I know. We just planned to watch a movie⊠So where are you?â He could feel his facade slipping like a mask coming loose around his head.
âWhere I am, rightâŠ.â You repeated, sending a worried look to the tall one. He watched it all like a sick movie, ignoring the searing burn in his throat as he swallowed. âIâm helping my mom with something, sorry I have to go,â you spoke after Hyungwon mouthed something to you but the phone didnât pick up his words.
âOh, okay then,â he said nonchalantly. It felt like he was putting the facade on for himself than you as he said these last words. âI love you.â
âLove you too, bye,â you said, hanging up. He missed the relieved look on your faces as the two of you continued shopping. He began to walk toward the end of the block, walking around a couple more before he was at the company building where the streets were busier with traffic. This had done it. He let the facade, the mask he had on fall onto the road, crushing it to nothing as he stepped over it. The piercing wound became a tear, a tear that repeated until there was nothing but little pieces that looked like an impossible puzzle. He felt cold as the sun hid behind the clouds, the day turning gloomy, matching the way he felt. With a fast pace, he kept his hood up, fists buried in his pockets. Stepping into the cool air of the lobby, he nodded at the receptionist who politely bowed, letting him through into the building. After waiting a brief moment, he steed into the empty elevator that played variety of the songs of the various groups under the company. The ride was short but slow. He focused on the song playing, only to realize it was his groupâs song, the sound of Hyungwonâs voice making him feel bitter. With a couple strides down the brightly lit hall filled with framed posters of all the groups under the company and a swift finger scan, he stepped into the one place he felt like he could let the ropes he was holding, go. Hearing the door lock behind him with a satisfying click acted like a switch for him, like a signal telling him he was concealed. He let the silence in the room consume him.
The various emotions he felt coalesced into one big mess, bundling, compressing together into a storm inside of him. With a burst of strength, he threw his phone into the cushions of the couch. The deviceâs flat side slapped against the firm leather cushions of the couch. He dejectedly flung himself into his chair, leaning back, letting out a heavy sigh, looking across the studio. He remembered the day you stayed up late and with him to decorate it. You helped him frame the posters from his favorite movies, help assemble his chair and push the couches and table around as he followed the wordy instructions to build his desk. Although there was only a single framed picture of the two of you on his desk, there were still parts and prints and memories of you all over his studio and he couldnât for get it. Jealously made him sour and he hated it. He took in everything he could, every sound in an attempt to distract, pull his mind away from the jealous thoughts he had in his mind, but there was nothing. The room was sound proofed. How useful for any other time except now. He was left alone to his thoughts.
âIâm home,â you called excitedly, unknowing the house was completely empty. You hid the bag containing your anniversary gift to Changkyun behind your body in case he was in the living room, but he was nowhere to be seen. âKyun?â You called out. âAre you here?â You asked as you laid on the first section of the steps, calling upstairs. You heard nothing but the sound of your heart beating in your ears. Sitting on the steps, the later afternoon sun shined through the skylight on the roof of the house. Pulling out your phone, you checked your messages and calls, seeing none from Changkyun. Where was he? Clicking on his contact, you called his number, pressing the cold screen of your device against your ears. Your fingers twisted around the handles of the bag containing his gift sat beside you on the stairs, hearing the call go to voicemail. You checked your messages and voicemails one more time just to be sure, but alas, you saw nothing from him.
âHey where are you?â You texted him but the message didnât have the usual delivered message after. Was his phone off? You didnât know what to think since he hadnât told you anything. You stood from the stairs and began your surprise, taking the opportunity to get ready while Changkyun was out.
Looking at the time, you were taken a bit back, not realizing you spent so long with Hyungwon today to find a gift for Changkyun. You washed your hands and tied your hair back, preparing the dishes you wanted to make for dinner which consisted of some of your favorites and his favorites. As you washed the vegetables, you couldnât help but think about Changkyunâs whereabouts, however. You mentally slapped yourself on the wrist for not looking for his gift earlier. The two of you had known each other for four years now and to be engaged in a a couple months but you wanted to make sure it was perfect with the help of Hyungwon.
You stood home alone in the kitchen as time passed, hours rolling by one after the other. Changkyun was still not home. You even made sure to take your time with things but even when all that time passed, he still hadnât come home. Setting the final dish down, you felt accomplished seeing the dishes you were able to make but as you sat down at the table, the silence settled down around you, the notion that you were alone and have been alone for the last couple hours unsettled you. Grabbing your phone, to your dismay, there were no messages or anything from Changkyun. Opening your messages, the message was finally delivered but unread. Where could he be?
You pressed his contact, holding the cold device on your ear only to hear it repeatedly lead you to the beep to leave a message at the end. You repeatedly sent texts to him only for none of them to be heard. Where was he? You sat alone in the kitchen, as worry slowly began to percolate inside.
âHyungwon, do you know where Changkyun is?â You sent the message to Hyungwon, going back to trying to call him only for the cal to be disrupted by Hyungwonâs own call to you.
âHeâs not home?â
âWhen I came home, he wasnât here and he still hasnât returned any of my calls or messages,â you looked to his bagged gift in the seat beside you. âHe didnât tell me anything while we were out.. did he tell you anything?â You asked, fiddling with the corner of the bag in your hand. The kitchen was filled with the aroma of the dishes you made, making your stomach growl a bit after having really eaten anything since breakfast.Â
âNo, nothing. Iâll ask the others and let you know.â
You sat still in your seat, repeatedly trying to call him and message him, scraping your mind for even the smallest things he possible couldâve said that you missed earlier today, but alas, there was none.
Changkyun sat back, reclined in his seat, his voice low as he mindlessly hummed to the rhythm of the synthesizers and bass mixed for a sample of a song on repeat. At this point, he could recite note for note, beat for beat because of how many times it played, doing its best to drone out thoughts in his mind. But it wasnât mainly the thoughts that made him feel this burn inside him, no, it was his emotions, the notion that you couldâve been with anyone else in the world and today was proof enough- it was jealousy.
The lights in the room were off, leaving the ones behind his monitors on his desk that changed colors, from one gradient to another. His eyes felt tired after staring at the colors as they glistened on the wall and glass displays beside his desk but it was only his eyes. Then, the office phone the company used on his desk rang, the red light flashing. For the first time in hours, Changkyun paused the music, hearing the sudden silence crash into his ears like when someone jumps into water and then the water suddenly surrounds you.
âHello?â He asked monotonously.
âChangkyun? Youâve been at the studio this entire time? Have you seen your phone?â The familiar voice of one of his members sounded in his ears. He subconsciously clenched his jaw but felt immediately inferior to the older member. Of course you chose Hyungwon. A lot of people did, and it cracked his heart.
âShouldnât you be comforting Y/N?â He spit back, a subtle kick in his words.
âWhy would I be with Y/N? Itâs your guysâ anniversary.â
âAre you sure? âCause by the looks of today, it seemed more like your guysââ he practically scoffed at his words, the feeling of betrayal flooding in as he now spoke with Hyungwon. Still sitting in the dark, the colors changed over his face, the lights still following their pattern.
âYou saw us- Go home, Changkyun. Answer your cellphone.â Hyungwon demanded, the pieces for him coming together.
âWhy should I listen to you?â Changkyun gripped he phone, contemplating on hanging up, leaving him cut off.
âJust go home. Itâs all a misunderstanding but you need to hear it from Y/N,â his voice desperate.
He held the phone, hesitant to say or do anything, but alas, he did as Hyungwon told and hung up. He grabbed his phone off the couch, seeing the tens of messages and calls you left him, though only a few voicemails he listened to. They were all filled with your frantic voice that you just wanted him to come home and to call you back. He could feel a ripple of guilt that began to grow as he walked faster to the point he was jogging home. The fastest way would be through the mall he found you and Hyungwon walking through, but like almost always, it was filled with people as they filled the streets, buying foods and shopping from the numerous vendors. Bodies were pressed through the brightly lit street as people waddled their way through the crowd, trying to buy or see or eat more, making it difficult for Changkyun to get home to you.
You sniffled to yourself, now seated in the living room of your home where he sat earlier today, holding one of his pillows in your arms in the quiet living room with a single lamp on for light. You admired how your ring sparkled in the low light, wishing he would come back soon. Your fingers circled around the wrinkly, worn soft fabric of the case, leaning into the warmth you emitted into the fabric.
He moved as fast as he could through the crowd, maneuvering over the masses of bodies around. He squeezed around, going around others as fast as he could through the mall. The entire areaâs atmosphere was filled with a foggy smoke from all the hot foods being sold by the vendors. The smells wafted into his nose as he passed, his stomach grumbling with hunger. He didnât even realize he had spent the bulk of the day at the studio today without eating anything since breakfast. He finally broke free from the crowd and toward the clear sidewalks of the neighborhoods. The night sky was clear and there were just barely traces of light pink and dark purples far off in the distant horizon, the breeze blowing through his clothes and hair as it bounced with every step as he jogged.
By the time he got to the end of your block, he panted once again as he did earlier, the thought of hitting the gym resurfacing. Standing in front of the house beneath the starry night sky, he was surrounded by the chirps of crickets and the sound of his heart beating rapidly in his chest. Catching his final breaths, he approached the front door. With a cool breeze blowing by and he sound of his keys jingling in his hand on the knob, the door opened to the dimly lit house, the first thing he saw was the lamp in the corner. But then he saw you. You jolted up in your seat as he stepped in, releasing a breath he didnât realize he was holding in as he pushed off his shoes to the side but stopped when he was out, not even realizing what to do with himself now that he was here. He was speechless.
âKyun,â your voice wavered slightly as you stood, the blanket that was draped over your legs slid off to the ground, pooling at your ankles. âWhat you saw today, thereâs nothing between Hyungwon and I.â You were suddenly before him in a couple of strides. He could see your worn eyes despite having not shed a single tear- not yet at least.
âThen what was it?â He asked, a part of him wanting to infuse venom into his words but another part silencing himself from doing so. The word âmisunderstandingâ in Hyungwonâs voice sounded in his head.
âIt was this,â you said as you stepped into the kitchen, the cold tiles at the bottom of your feet as you snatched his gift in the bag, bringing it back to him. âI know we promised to not do any gifts, I couldnât help myself but by the time I finally decided to get something, I realized I couldnât think of anything to get you that would feel perfect enough for you,â you stammered over your words as they came out, feeling like the foundation you built yourself emotionally was crumbling around the edges. âI asked Hyungwon to help me and I hate that I couldnât make a decision earlier so I couldâve spent all day with you.â You could feel a single tear cascade down your cheek leaving a wet trail over your dry skin. You swallowed over a lump that formed as you spoke, your eyes fell to his hands holding the bag, unable to bring yourself up to see his. You felt ashamed and embarrassed at the same time- ashamed you couldnât be decisive sooner and embarrassed you couldnât even look in your own fiancĂ©âs eyes.
Changkyun stood speechless, not able to move his body a single inch. It felt like a cool sensation dropped down his stomach, raising goosebumps all over his body. He couldnât bring himself to say anything, not knowing what he could possibly say, no- he didnât know where to start.
âIâm so dumb, I shouldâve just got-â
âThe only dumb person in this house is me,â he cut you off quietly as he embraced you into his arms with the rustling sound of the bag swinging in his hand, catching you off guard. âI let my emotions get the best of me and I shouldâve just trusted you. I- I-â he sighed, not knowing how to continue. âMy mind assumed the worst when I saw the two of you two in the mall today. I shouldâve just stayed home, answered my phone at least,â he spoke, his arms not letting up. âIâm sorry,â he brought his hand to hold the back of your head, fingers combing through your hair when you accepted his embrace, taking him into your own. âIâm so sorry, Y/N. Could you forgive me?â He held your shoulders, breaking away from the hug.
âOf course, Kyun. Youâre my fiancĂ© after all.â You took his face in your hands, bringing your lips to his as his hands rested on your hips. âI love you,â you mumbled against his plump lips, his touch never leaving you.
âI love you too, and happy anniversary.â He dipped you backwards a bit, holding your back firmly before he brought his lips back to yours.
