The second of the two test illustrations for Shadowrun!
For this illustration they wanted a Shadowrun-appropriate scene, and I loved the idea of an ancient elven ruin, cursed to be forgotten for thousands of years while a modern city was built up around it, now discovered and about to be explored by a shadowrunner.
I was very inspired by the photography of Anthony Presley and his Memphis Noir series when creating this piece: https://www.anthonypresley.com/

█████'s Fun Guide to Surviving the Warden!
-1- Do not try to summon the Warden. If you make a noise brazenly, as a dare or to prove your merit and bravery, you will not live long. There is a thick line between a hero and a fool and intentionally stepping loudly into the Warden's territory is pushing you far past the blur.
-2- Try not to panic. The blindness is startling, but will pass. However, do not let your knowledge of the Warden lead you to be too careless. Yes, the Warden may be blind and navigate mostly by ear. But he can also smell you.
-3- Navigate while the blindness ebbs. While you cannot see, walk safely in one direction. While you can see, look around you for possible branches in your path. You are at the mercy of the Warden's heartbeat. If you can get away from the Warden, the blindess will fade.
-4- If you are in the wool-floored halls, run. Run away as fast as you can. You do not want the Warden to catch your scent. If you are on loud ground, back away slowly and carefully. Try to find a quiet floor. Once you find a path where you will not be heard, run. Stay away from skulk. You will not survive a fight with one Warden and you surely do not want him to know exactly where you are.
-5- Do not, under any circumstances, try to throw a snowball as a distraction. Yes, it makes a noise when it hits the ground. It also makes a noise as it leaves your hand, giving the Warden a straight shot to you. As long as he is calm, you can crouch away from him. If he is angry, you may not be able to outrun him.
-6- If you happen to experience the Warden running at you and you do not have a woolen pathway to run down, I suggest picking your gods to pray to wisely. The Warden has not been known to let those he is hunting leave.
-7- Remember to stay calm. Screaming is the worst possible thing you can do in this situation. Running carelessly is a close second. I wish you the best and remember. Respecting the Warden is the only way you will survive.

I haven’t seen anyone mention this, but at the beginning of Grian’s episode, he says “there’s no new players in the series at this time”
This doesn’t mean new players are gonna be added but like. What if.

Surely everyone agrees with me that the Ancient City is early game right? I’m not the only one who sees this and goes “so that’s clearly an early game objective”?
Armor and weapons don’t matter, so that means a no armor no weapon noob can do about as good as a guy with full netherite. You just need wool and snowballs (with the intended gameplay at least) and an early game player could ABSOLUTELY get those. One of the rewards is the recovery compass, which is mostly useful for early game players who may be dying a lot. Plus, you may die a lot in the ancient city, and if it’s early game then it won’t matter as much. Also they’re not that hard to find.
This is why the loot is so meh it’s because it’s high risk high reward early game.

Magic the Gathering Proxy: "Neo Atlantis" Basic Land - Island
First in a series of MTG Land Proxy land cards I wish to create based off of mythical cities. (Full disclosure: I use A.I. generated imagery for card art so as not to rip off actual artists for the concept.)
Atlantis was an obvious choice for Island, but I could use any thoughts on other cities that would make for great Island, Swamp, Mountain, Plains, Forests and Wastes! (I plan on doing another land series with the various sections of Hades as well)

i’ve recently been looking at the minecraft wiki and like. the original concepts for the warden are horrifying. i always thought that what we have now is kinda cute but like, the concepts of the hollowed and the stalker??? nightmare inducing! mojang really just wanted to turn this cutesy block game into a horror game with the deep dark. instead of making us afraid of cave noises, they wanted to make US the cave noises

Ok so
I just reread the deleted scenes with Bronte on Shannon's Ig, and I have decided that we 100% deserve and need a short story of Kenric being a lowkey menace to Bronte, like an annoying cat. Like, Bronte is talking about his favourite book and the book he's really interested in but doesn't want to read so it never loses the novelty and Kenric is sttting next to him asking him the /dumbest/ questions with a shit eating grin, knowing full well that they're idiotic
But Bronte entertains him because they're friends and he feels an almost fatherly bond with Kenric because Bronte is so much older than him and considers him a naive little child so he puts up with it and Kenric takes full advantage. In a sweet way.
And Bronte's peaceful place being a library with books he's never read??? Makes so much sense??? I love it so much??? Like, he's so old that he's probably read most books and seen most things and wants the feeling of not knowing what will happen and the novelty of a fresh book; This also implies that near immortality does get old!! Living for livings sake isn't a good life, and once you've done everything, is there a point? And assuming Bronte doesn't have access to human libraries or human literature, there is a whole other world that he's missing out on and he knows this and the mourning of missing human unpredictability and craving the unknown fleshes out his character deliciously.
I'm probably looking into this too much and conflating canon with fanon too much because I haven't read Canon, but Bronte seems like such a wonderful character that isn't touched on nearly enough.
Him inflicting on Sophie (I read that scene illegally because. Why not) could also make sense assuming that elves were more "barbaric" with how they taught! Maybe they were more hands on, and so Bronte learned by being inflicted on himself (Assuming he isn't the only inflictor), but it also shows that he isn't fit to be a teacher but he gives off major "Good with toddlers" vibes so now I'm conflicted
But that was merely a tangant! I want a short story or novel dedicated to Bronte growing up, like each chapter is a stage in his life, his motivations, if he looked up to Fallon, if he had any *ahem* relations with humans. I feel that this would work best as written for older audiences? Like, not /older/ older, but I'm thinking Wheel of Time older. It gives enough space for mature subjects to be discussed but doesn't include things like sex scenes.
Anyway, gushing about Bronte aside, who do you think his favourite PJO (Either PJO specific or another character from the sister series) character would be? I think Dyonisus, Luke, Hades, or Hearthstone Alderman from magnus chase.
-Heathen
P.s - The Bronte/Oralie friendship is beautiful and I love it and just,,,, angry goth man with kind barbie friend is peak friendship goals. Especially when paired with Chaotic Good Himbo and lowkey suicidal stunt man that mentions arson wayyy too often to be normal
Also, I have been watching video analysi on High Gaurdian Spice and I have decided that there is only one good character and her name is Amaryllis. It feels accidental. She's hilarious. She is murder incarnate but in a short funny chihuahua way. I love her. I want the story to be about her
Heathen! Hello! I'm assuming you're referring to the deleted scenes in general as in multiple of them? Because your comments on Kenric sound like reference to the one where he shook out the scroll like "oh I'm sorry, is this annoying?" and then the babbling broke one is about Sophie teaching Bronte how to inflict (which I think we were robbed of. we got that whole "perhaps we have something to teach each other" moment in Exile and then no follow through). Anyway!!
I agree entirely; we definitely need more Bronte and Kenric interactions. I think we just need more Kenric in general he was so nice. And then he was so crispy. What a well roasted shame. Bronte was so grumpy back in those books but also tried to be so put together, he's the perfect person to antagonize!! And Kenric would be so good at it with his positive demeanor and conviction.
Bronte seeing Kenric as a naive child is accurate to canon, but taking it a step further and making it fatherly? Now that is interesting! I've seen a few portrayals of their relationship that involve Oralie where Bronte is like a fed up best friend/third wheel, but I think given how much older Bronte is taking the parental approach could be really interesting. Because despite being grumpy he really does want the best for their world! He wants their world to be safe and okay, and if Kenric is younger than he can teach him a thing or two. And that fits with his character!!
The little snippet about the babbling brook is one of my favorite glimpses of information we have about him. Like yes it never happened in canon, but if it were to happen that's how it would've happened, and we can learn a lot from that! The things you're saying are a huge part of what I based my analysis of him on for the uquiz. For example, the question about the drinks, the vial filled with galaxies and stars and knowledge correlates with him! Because it's vast and there's always more to know and there's this sort of awed reverence of the possibilities, and that's what I relate to Bronte. I really like your emphasis on immortality getting old and the unpredictability of human nature and human culture and how he'd crave what he lost!! it's so interesting
I don't think you're looking into it too much! I think you are absolutely right (which is especially impressive considering you haven't read canon), and exploring his character more would be so fascinating in the story. In fanon he gets turned into this super grumpy person, and he is grumpy in canon at the beginning but he's also wise, and resistant. Unhelpful for the main character, but ultimately a reasonable choice of action when you think about it.
The whole inflicting scene with Sophie is fascinating as well, because we get a look at how he thinks and at how he works. He stores his emotions and lashes out and has learned to live with the pain, essentially. And there's never been another way, and it helps us understand why he acts the way he does in other scenes. He's so stubborn and determined to be right, to find a flaw in this thing (sophie) everyone else is so easily accepting of that shouldn't exist. Unfortunately though he is the only inflictor aside from Sophie, so he wouldn't be able to be inflicted on during his learning, but we also don't now how he learned an ability no one else has! He's not a teacher because he's a good teacher, he's Sophie's teacher because there is literally no one else in the world who could do it.
I think there are many people who would be interested in knowing more about Bronte! But yeah I don't think it's the intended age group of keeper for the most part. Bronte's complexity and immortality seem a lot more niche, so it could be approached differently than the main series! We get glimpses of him, but there are a lot of gaps in the knowledge we have of the 5000 some years he's been alive
And now you're testing my pjo knowledge?? oh it's been so long since I read any of the books hang on. I feel like he'd like a character that is resolute and cautious, who thinks before they act and who acknowledges that not everything can be good. In that case I think maybe your Luke suggestion would work? But also Bronte might judge him for the whole Kronos situation. For some reason I'm thinking Artemis or Zoe. Just those kind of vibes are what's coming to mind. The resolute devotion, the air of power, the wisdom, you know?
Bronte and Oralie's friendship is pretty fun!! We don't get to see it a whole lot but it's always interesting. I think Sophie's makeover by Oralie in Legacy is a prime example. Bronte just there like hnngg makeup and all these frivolous things eww and Oralie like be quiet you essentialist manchild
also I have no idea what you're talking about but good for Amaryllis? I think? I have no context but I am very happy for you! my personal new obsession has been Life is Strange: True Colors, which I've been playing through recently. It's a narrative game with the main character, Alex, who is an empath!! it's like a choose your own story kind of? like you choose dialogue that's mostly harmless but then each chapter there are three big choices that majorly influence the plot, and I have been having a great time and also emotionally devastated by all the characters and the plot. Currently part way through chapter 3!!

i love that the minecraft devs keep adding these little bits of lore throughout the updates and never fully or properly explaining them aside for a sentence or two here and there. it gives the players so much creative freedom and it's so cool to see what comes out of that :D

#ok first off- the end? why are there sometimes enderman in the overworld? why is the achievement for killing the dragon named#''freeing the end''??? why are there entire cities and floating ships that have been seemingly abandoned besides shulkers?#why are these abandoned civilizations the only places where wings were made and can be found??? and while we're on the#topic of other dimensions with abandoned places- the nether too? like idk if fortresses count as abandoned but there are just#loads of castles just around in the nether and then theres also ''bastion remnants'' which are the ruined remains of huge structures#that are-obviously-remnants but are still HEAVILY guarded by piglins and speaking of remains of stuff in the nether#ancient debris. you get netherite scraps from a block called ancient debris. what thing is it debris from??? why is it ancient???#more importantly what scattered this debris everywhere that has scraps of the strongest metal in the game???#and dont even get me started on the overworld#dudeeee#desert temples? woodland mansions? just any auto-generated structure really besides villages. why are there random temples#in the desert that are trapped with tnt but have good stuff. why do the pillagers live in huge mansions and have literally#TOTEMS OF UNDYING#and the ocean is full of stuff#sea temples are neat but also why are these guardians so adamantly guarding... gold? and sponges? thats it?#and dude there are. so. many. shipwrecks. who did these ships belong to??? and why have they all somehow been destroyed?#ik there arent answers to any of these questions but i wish there were? maybe i could write the answers idk. headcanons but#instead of being for a show or something is just for minecraft#SOMEONE RBED AND POINTED OUT RUINED PORTALS TOO omg i forgot about those! who made them? why are they ruins?
