I don’t understand the urge to completely remove the kidnapping from Persephone’s story, if anything it’s what makes her relationship with Hades so interesting and complex, he kidnapped her, but he also treats her like an equal, listens to her wisdom, doesn’t get in the way of her decisions as queen, compare and contrast that to Zeus and Hera who were said to be lovers before they got married only for their marriage to be absolutely chaotic and toxic. The dichotomy of the beginning of these relationships vs what comes after is very interesting to explore.

My next embroidery project. This time on Hades and Persephone from a vase. This is one of my favorite stories from Greek mythology.

Not exactly sure what this is. I guess it’s sort of a play on Hades and Persephone but Chloé and Marinette.

Hades, to me, is the feeling of warmth in the solitude of nature. The sounds of crickets and distant foliage rustling. A subtle indication you're not alone. The luminescent glow of fire that lights the deep blue void with heated orange, warming the cool, smooth surface of your skin. A soft, gentle breeze caressing your face and hugging your soul. The reminder that, although lonely, things will be alright. And one day, you'll be home to him. The reminder of ashes to ashes and dust to dust.
He's so fatherly and loving.. <3

continuing with my “I really want a titanomachy adaptation with young versions of the og olympians” with a self indulgent focus on hades
Hades - this is supposed to be them post-escaping Cronus but I cheated and did my design for Hades after the war ends. Exposed skull = consequence of marred divine beauty for being bound to the underworld (more on that later) but he experiences life with his parents until good ole dad gets prophecy-paranoia-plague
Zeus - has seen sunshine, hair puffs up like a storm cloud when angry, quite frizzy after a battle, quite fond of bonding with his traumatized brothers by shocking them with his grand discovery of static electricity (sure would hate it if this sweet boy didn’t stay sweet once he’s king of the gods hmmmm)
Poseidon - fish inside a birdcage, got eaten as baby and was basically raised by hades and is very attached to him during the war, longs for something he doesn’t know exists (i.e. the ocean), sea foam hair
(Also, for note, in this version Hera, Hestia, and Demeter aren’t their sisters and come from a different source of god creation. Haven’t quite conjured that explanation up though, but they gang up with the brothers three as well.)

This week on 'Life With The Olympians'
Persephone: I'm cold
Hades: *Immediately wraps her in his coat*
Apollo: . . . Where did you get him, cause I want one

You complain about your Greek mythology faves being unfairly portrayed as villains, I complain about my faves being portrayed as villains in a way that I feel is boring or out of character for them, we are not the same.

Hades
You know, the reasonable one of the big three.
His color is purple... For the very simple reasons that I would have done blue but not everyone can be blue, and I don't really feel red so... Color mixing haha (also I believe purple can be a mourning color?)
His brooch cloak thingy is a coin bc the souls have to pay to be admitted to the underworld.
And he has the stupidest weapon of them all, the goddamn Bident lol
Idk I think he's serving
Here's how I made him:
Also wouldn't it be so funny if it came out he was in EPIC last saga? (Please Jorge actually do not)

Hellenic Polytheism UPG: Appearances
This is how the gods I work with/worship appear to me, divined either from dreams, meditation, or images that pop into my mind that I inexplicably associate with a deity!
Hades: switches between(?) a black cloak that covers his whole body and melts into the shadows and a black suit with dark grey pinstripes, very pale skin, very tall (taller than Persephone), long black hair, wears a three-point black/darkened silver crown with black jewels in each point
Persephone: tan, olive-toned skin, long curly brown hair, golden-brown eyes(?) a long berry colored dress (darker pinkish-red) with red flowers on the shoulders, significantly taller than a human (this is what I’m guessing is her spring outfit, I don’t know what her winter one looks like yet since it’s still summer)
Dionysus: long, curly black hair, dark skin with red undertones, fat, either wine red or black eyes, warm-toned dark purple peplos dress, ivy crown
Athena: Big barn owl wings, nose (/face?) looks like a barn owl beak (/face?), has its helm, has gray eyes, wears a long, flowing white dress with dark gold or bronze buckles/pins/belt, gold sandals(?), long brown hair
Hermes: blonde hair, classic white chiton (exomis maybe?) with gold clasps, gold winged sandles, looks closer to my height from what i can tell
Artemis: young woman, thick, flowy/wavy black hair, sparkling eyes, pale skin, maybe a silver crown/band(??) white/silvery peplos dress, barefoot (I think), human height “so the women she guards/hunts with won’t be afraid of her” (paraphrased explanation from my first meditation with her)
Apollo: long, light golden hair, tan skin, golden(?) eyes, athletic, elegant, white exomis(?), very tall, has supportive camp counselor energy
Aphrodite/Aphroditos: very soothing voice, soft, pale, peachy skin, LONG-ASS flowing dark reddish hair, naked (couldn’t pick out any specific clothes), much taller than most humans, very much seashell vibes; as Aphroditos he looks like red-haired Howl from Howl’s Moving Castle and has the same ethereal, magical pretty boy vibes
