Hello everyone! Have a good day, afternoon or night depending on when you are viewing this post Yesterday I remembered for no reason a fighting game created by someone from my country, The black heart (or its English translation, El corazón negro), is a quite entertaining game that has its original version released in 2009 that you can play download on GameJolt if I remember correctly and its tenth anniversary version on Steam! Now, to remember the existence of that game, I wanted to make Shrike with the outfit and character selection pose (the old one, I tried to make the new one but it didn't work, lol) of one of the characters, specifically, Ananzi
After that I don't have much to say, except that I thought it was going to be more difficult for me to do the pose when drawing it, and at the beginning I wanted to give Shrike an expression similar to the one Ananzi had in that official artwork but I saw I didn't like it and I had to change it

all of these are somewhat old (some a lot more-so than others lol) but they are all some of my oldest characters from the story/comic that i have been world building for and writing consistently since like 2019
These guys were what really kickstarted my art progress and motivated me to continue improving throughout the years and they are incredibly dear to me💕

Een gekke vraag: zou je variaties kunnen maken op "Roodkapje", "De drie biggetjes" en "De wolf en de zeven geitjes" waarbij de wolf buikpijn krijgt nadat hij zijn prooi heeft doorgeslikt?
Well, I'm sure it would be possible to include the big bad wolf getting a stomach ache in a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood, The Three Little Pigs, or The Wolf and the Seven Young Kids, but I don't think it would particularly add something to the plot.
Of these three tales Little Red Riding Hood has the most variations. There are versions where grandmother and Red Riding Hood both die, versions where only Red Riding Hood survives, and versions where they are both cut out of the wolf's stomach after being swallowed whole. Those versions usually say that the wolf falls asleep after having such a big meal and I suppose you could easily add in a stomach ache, but it wouldn't change much.
In several of the "cut the wolf open" versions, the wolf's stomach is afterwards filled with stones. The same trick is used in the Grimms' The Wolf and the Seven Little Kids. Interestingly enough this doesn't seem to cause the wolf pain, it just makes him very heavy, and sometimes thirsty.
In the oldest (I think) version of The Three Little Pigs (the one collected by James Orchard Halliwell in The Nursery Rhymes of England), the wolf eats the first two pigs and only the third survives. Again, in this version giving the wolf repercussions for eating a whole pig isn't unreasonable, but it wouldn't immediately change the story. Besides, there are many variations that choose to let them all live and focus on horribly killing the wolf (or fox) instead.
So unless I have misunderstood your question I don't really see a lot of storytelling opportunities here. Perhaps stomach aches don't really feature in these types of tales because the wolf is supposed to be a monster and they cannot have too obvious a physical weakness.
The only story I can think of where a character eats another character and is then physically punished for it until the victim is let out, is the tale of Ananzi and the Baboon (published in 1859 by George Webbe Dasent, in the appendix of Popular Tales from the Norse, collected from "a West Indian nurse".)
Maybe this story was influenced by the more "medical horror" type folktales with the "snake lives in person's stomach" motif. But it feels very different to me, because (just like the big bad wolf) Ananzi eats the Baboon on purpose and is then punished for it and both survive in the end. Which, as far as Anansi/Nanzi stories go, is a perfectly happy ending!
#I'm sorry I can never resist an excuse to drag Nanzi into things#also I don't think I answered your question at all but I did my best#laura babbles

5/25/23 Guess I am behind on posting. Dana Zed came for Labor Day Weekend. So fun! Watched the lumberjack contests, parade, then went to Flynn Creek Circus. Walk on the Pudding Creek Trissel bridge.
New rug from Ananzi Village. Afternoon class in shifu, weaving with warp made of paper.
Mushroom season begins. Chanterelles from neighbors front yard. Permission granted.

With every “!!” i get, I’ll introduce you to an OC! || Accepting
Datura!
A rather cagey individual, no one really knows much about Datura's personal life. He claims to have come from Efrika, but won't elaborate specifics.
Datura carries himself with an aloof, poised demeanor. He's patient and can be charming, albeit a little cryptic for peoples tastes. Always calm and collected, he tends to be a bit of an enigma. His presence also has been known to make others feel uneasy, though they can't be certain as to why.
Still, as far as most can tell, he's pretty harmless. A little weird, but being weird isn't a crime, now is it?
-- Datura's a fun guy to write. He's not exactly a mobian - the form we see him as is one he's conjured up for himself to explore the realm of the living. In truth, he's a Lesser Demon known as Ananzier.
Datura is curious about mortals and likes to observe them. In particular, he's draw to those in a position to change the world. He worms his way into serving them, becoming a trusted consort, and observes. Contrary to what his nature might lead you to believe, he doesn't really pull many strings or have any grand schemes; while he may subtly influence people, he prefers to interfere as little as possible. Mortals are fascinating to him.

I get the warm fuzzies every time I see the episode where Static goes to Africa and meets an African superhero - Ananzi - who tells him that there is a cool Black superhero in Static's home for people to look up to. Static himself.

She thinks she’s hiding.
I associate spiders with Frigg and Loki. 🕷️🕸️
Frigg because she’s a spinner and weaver, like spiders are. She observes and is patient. (upg)Loki because some Icelanders refer to spiders as “Loki” I because their webs are like fish nets. Loki is associated with nets because he made one while on the run. Loki’s name may also mean “knot” or “tangle”. It helps that spiders are seen as tricksters in a lot of cultures around the world.
Source Loki
The local Seneca told of the 6ft spider Djieien who was killed by Hiawatha
Uttu is a Mesopotamian goddess associated with weaving. Thorkild Jacobsen suggests she was associated with spiders
Ananzi is an entity from Akan folklore who originated in Ghana. He’s important in west African, African American(Nancy/Aunt Nancy/Sis Nancy) and West Indian folklore. He is a shapeshifting spider. 🕷️Married to Okanore Yaa/Asa/Crooky/Shi Maria.
Si Apaec is. Moche god who looks like a hybrid of a spider, jaguar, and human. Maybe a primary god?
Arachne was turned into a spider for her hubris by Athena.
Areop Enap was important to the creation of the world according to the Nearu, natives of the Republic of Nearu, a small island country in the Pacific.
Spiders are related to Christmas in Eastern Europe, especially in Western Ukraine. It may have inspired tinsel. Non black spiders are lucky in Germany and it’s bad luck to destroy a web before the spider is out of the way.
Iktomi is a shapeshifting spider from the Lakota
Jurogumo are yokai that shapeshift into women to lure their prey.
Nanabozho is a shapeshifting Anishanaabi entity used in story telling.
Nareau is a creator from the Gilbert islands
Phalanx may be Arachne’s brother/lover who was turned into a spider, maybe, for their relationship
Kokyangwuti is a Hopi entity
Tsuchigumo is a Japanese derogatory term for indigenous rebels in Japan and a type of yokai that look like a bull spider hybrid.
Apparently spider fighting is a thing? People make spiders fight for entertainment.

Hell's Backbone - Wandering and Pondering
Ananzi, Ancestral Puebloans Hell’s Backbone The snowy peaks of the Hell’s Backbone mountains seemed to be on fire as the first rays of the sun peaked over the ridge to the east. It’s a cold October morning in Boulder, Utah, pop 236. After a few encouraging words, my vintage Bronco reluctantly sputters to life as I continue to wander southern Utah’s back and further back roads. I am mesmerized by…
