There was always this frantic quality to Buck's relationships

And then there is Tommy

Tommy who makes the first step but then lets him breathe through it for a moment

Yes, Buck is a little frantic with the date but

Tommy gives him room and grace and understanding

For the first time we see Buck AT EASE looking at a romantic connection with someone

Is he still Buck, and moves a little head over heels? Of course he is!

But it's not cause he's desperate

It's cause he's EXCITED

He's filled with so much joy and excitement

and for the first time he has no outlined plan with a relationship, no map he's following

Instead he allows himself to discover and explore this relationship and this part of himself

He's so excited about it

So free and bright and content with it

Tommy really stopped that hamster wheel and showed him a new way and

Buck is guided by that inner light of his now, without trying to direct it

And he's not looking for what's missing, what's wrong or following a plan

He just lets himself be and experience and explore and discover

And just

The sheer joy and ease of it all

Since I don’t really find a lot of cross-stitch patterns of Nick and Charlie and I REALLY wanted to make something Heartstopper related… I decided to learn how to create a pattern just to make this! They are not perfect but I’m still really happy with the results!!

Every once in a while I remember how the day after the first kiss between Tommy and Buck I went to work and my butch lesbian co-worker who watches the show as a casual fan told me that at one point she thought it'd be Buck being into Eddie and how that weirded her out because they're brothers...but Buck and Tommy made more sense. But she really isn't a shipper so she didn't care but she was adamantly against buddie. That is how many casual viewers watch the show and that's not something we should forget.

Do you guys remember the last time that 9-1-1 was not posting stills and behind the scenes stuff?

It was the shooting arc.

I think we're going to have something happen with Christopher, Eddie, and/or Abuela. We know the next few episodes are going to do with Bobby's and Eddie's pasts, and the last time something like this happened was in the shooting arc.

Buck going through a self-discovery arc that coincides with a Madney milestone? What happens? Shooting arc.

We know that Christopher is a bigger part of this season as well.

The foundation with Eddie repairing the relationship with his family, his questioning of his relationship, dealing with his catholic guilt, and Shannon, has been building up to this.

Buck needs to step up somehow like the shooting arc and change how he approaches his connection to the Diaz family in order for him to get off the hamster wheel.

after sleeping on the latest anniversary special i think i’m at peace with the whole bi-generation thing because it does something i don’t think it would’ve been able to do if it was executed in any other way. it allows the show to move the fuck on.

nuwho began with this mysterious sense that something bad happened. that this man, this alien, is filled with guilt and pain from something terrible. that theme of a horrible anguish being thinly veiled under a witty, dorky shield has been consistent throughout every incarnation of the doctor since. it’s a brilliant piece of characterisation but the doctor always being weighed down by this insurmountable grief i think was always going to hold the show back eventually. tragedy is inherent to doctor who but when does it become hard to believe that the main character is somehow able to continue on after everything they’ve gone through. what effect would this have on the audience, especially long-term fans? letting go of past companions and doctors is something that doctor who fans are notoriously bad at and i just wonder if it would become too much for the show to handle at one point. but now it won’t anymore.

bi-generation allows the doctor to heal from everything they’ve gone through whilst still being able to barrel into the next adventure. there’s a million theories on where 14 will end up but i think what matters the most is that the doctor is finally happy. not in a temporary, tenuous state of thrill that will only last until the start of the next episode or when the next threat appears around the corner but truly happy. unlike in previous versions of this story where the doctor gets an impossible happy ending which we never get to see onscreen (e.g. tentoo settling down with rose) we are actually going to witness 15 be joyful and alive, no longer held down by what’s come before. a fresh start almost. not to say that the time war or the flux were so horrific that the doctor never could’ve gotten over them but i don’t think the doctor healing would’ve been believable without him literally splitting in two, allowing him time to breathe and slow down as 14 whilst untethering him from the past and allowing him to fully spread his wings as 15. it’s not a perfect conclusion to this era (and discussions on whether bi-generation undermined ncuti’s entrance and role as THE doctor are completely valid) but i’m ultimately glad it happened
