It's finally done. This is a companion piece to: Where we started
Thank you Theorist Team for putting in so much hard work. I can't wait to see the new people in the spotlight! I already love Ash and Santi and their chaotic selves haha.
Also I'm thinking of starting a side blog where I reblog other's art, there's just a lot of posts I want to reblog but I don't want to "lose" my art on this page if that makes sense?
Theoryify: Who's gonna be the next MatPat in terms of how recognizable they are?
Short answer from what I think is Amy, Santi, Tom, and Lee.
The longer answer is as follows:
Amy has been seen on Style Theory since it started and was moving on camera since the ever so popular episode 3: These Shoes can Kill. So if you've watched Style Theory before MatPat left, you should already feel familiar to Amy and know enough that you can recognize her fast.
Santi is probably going to be the next person people will be accustomed too. Not only because he's been on camera like Amy has before, for example, I Tried WEIRD Fair Food So You Don’t Have To, but also because Food Theory is a more camera oriented channel. Sure, there might be a few episodes you can do without needing to record live footage, most of them will be. So the more you see a face moving and talking instead of a two-dimensional image moving on a screen, the more you're gonna recognize its characteristics.
Tom might be the third person people will really get comfortable with. Not to any fault of Tom's, but with receiving the biggest channel of the five, it might take more work than the others. While Tom has been on camera before, that's from GTLive, a channel that has overlap between every channel, I'm sure of it, but not every Game Theory viewer is a GTLive viewer. While sure, seeing static images move around is expected from Game Theory, it feels less human in my opinion. Like there's a lack of connection there that could make it harder to get used to.
Finally, there's Lee. While all four of these are debatable, I feel Lee is gonna be the last one people think of because a lot of people forget about Film Theory to the point that MatPat has joked about it on GTLive. So while he might not need to do a lot for fans of Film Theory, the rest of the theorist community might need crossovers to help remember that A, the channel exists, and B, who Lee is.
If you've made it this far, I want to remind you, this is just my opinion, and all my evidence is based off of things I've been thinking about for a few days. So please, if you watch the theory channels, show positivity to the new hosts, and if none of that made sense, at least I can say it was just a theory,
A TEAM THEORY!
(look it's the best I could think of okay)
Thanks for reading.
*feel free to disagree btw 100% okay I wanna know your thoughts too
The new hosts of the Theory channels have been on my mind and I've been thinking....
Would anyone be interested if I started writing for them? That would include Tom, Lee, Santi (don't get me started on this man) and Amy. Maybe even featuring other Team Theorist members.
Send in your requests, lovelies! <<3
One rule: NO SHIPS
If anyone has heard of any of these people not being comfortable with fanfics being written about them, please let me know so I don't cross any boundaries.
Matpat is stepping down, but he won't be gone for good. We still have 9 more videos. We still have the Style Theory fashion show. GTlive will continue till probably the end of the summer.
And all the projects he will do in the future, like the lofi mystery series, and the game idea he has, and the animated show. Matpat is not disappearing, he is changing course. Switching from working both behind the scenes and in front of the camera to a lighter workload that will allow him to do projects outside from the channels and have more time to enjoy life offline.
Matpat will no longer be the face of the channels, but the people put in charge of them will do great work I'm sure of it.
They all proved themself over their time working on Team Theorist. Amy was nearly hosting Style Theory already, Santi won me over in minutes i immediately hoped he would be in more videos, Lee was part of the team for a decade and deserves his time to shine, and Toms dream was to be working on Game Theory he was passionate enough to read the fnaf books.
Lots of references to old memes surrounding the channel(s)
There will be nine weeks left of theory videos
On March 9th, he will have a going away video
Noticed he said that most of his recent videos are other people doing the research, not him
A group of four people will be taking over the channel(s)
Person named Lee is going to be taking over film theory (the same person who worked on Breakdown)
Person named Amy is going to be taking over style theory
Person named Santi will be taking over food theory
Person named Tom will be taking over game theory
matpat notes that he will be on gtlive untill at least summer (estimated)
He is also making his own media. He hopes that other channels will comment on it
YOUTUBER MERCH FASHION SHOW ??? in april
Animation show idea
Video game idea
....
classic game theory wrap up outro. solid end
All that said, he isn't completely gone, but he'll be in the background every now and then as well as some events.
In this video he looks extremely tired. He gets understandably emotional, as the channels he has started from a very small channel and has grown into much more. He notes he felt very connected to the community and fanbase he curated.
I really think this will be good for him. Earnestly. From what he's described, his work schedule is very busy and stressful. It's unsustainable for any person. So, the decision to split the workload between four leaders of people.
I hope that alongside spending more time with his family and kid, he'll find the time to reflect a little bit on his history.
In addition, with new leaders taking over the four main channels, hopefully we will get better content out of it, better written videos/scripts, original work, or at least properly cited/credited stuff.
Just better quality stuff overall. I'm sure no one would mind waiting a little longer for better quality videos.
