˚₊‧꒰აWhen You Dodge Their Kisses໒꒱ ‧₊˚
Headcanon: Amras, Argon, Aegnor, Rog, Thingol
˚₊‧꒰ა Amras ໒꒱ ‧₊˚
Amras had been in high spirits that afternoon, the sun casting a golden glow over the gardens of Himlad. You were lounging on a plush bench beneath the shade of an ancient oak, enjoying the serenity of the moment. He had taken a seat beside you, his usual serious demeanour softened by a playful glint in his green eyes.
As the conversation meandered from topics of hunting to lighthearted banter, Amras leaned in, his lips curved into a teasing smile, clearly intent on stealing a kiss. With a mischievous glint in your eye, you leaned slightly away just as he approached. His lips met the air where your cheek had been moments before.
Amras raised an eyebrow, pretending to be oblivious as he leaned in again, this time aiming for the other cheek. You giggled and tilted your head, dodging his kiss once more, leading him to pout dramatically. “So you want to play a game now?” he asked, his voice a playful tease.
You continued to evade his attempts, each dodge accompanied by a burst of laughter from you. Amras’s initial amusement gave way to a charming pout, his lower lip jutting out as he tried to hide his disappointment behind a mask of feigned seriousness. “When I catch you, you’ll be sorry, arimelda,” he said, his voice tinged with playful frustration.
However, he came to regret those words when you dragged out his attempts for much longer than he anticipated. The sounds of his grumbling and mutterings were far too loud, only fuelling you to frustrate him further by dancing out of his grasp and sticking your tongue out at him. “Ready to give up, or you’re not that much of a sore loser?”
“You may regret those words when I get my hands on you, love,” he exhaled before missing the opportunity to grab your arm. “I want my kiss, so you best come here.”
Fortunately, after a few more failed attempts and your laughter echoing in the garden, you relented—feeling rather pitiful for him—and leaned in, letting him plant a soft, lingering kiss on your cheek. So easily did his pout melt into a satisfied smile, his eyes twinkling with affection. “There,” he said, his voice soft and content. “Caught you. I win.”
“Because I let you, otherwise you were going to cry,” you teased.
˚₊‧꒰ა Argon ໒꒱ ‧₊˚
The day in Tirion was crisp and clear, with the gentle breeze rustling through the leaves as you and Argon strolled along a quiet path. His conversation was animated, full of stories from his recent scouting trips, but his eyes kept darting to you with an unmistakable glimmer of mischief.
As Argon spoke, he leaned in, his lips poised for a kiss. You, with a grin playing on your lips, deftly leaned away, causing his kiss to miss its mark. His expression shifted from playful to a feigned look of hurt. “Are you challenging me?” he teased, his eyes sparkling with playful challenge.
Undeterred, Argon tried again, this time attempting to catch you off guard by leaning in from the other side. You shifted subtly, avoiding his kiss once more, and he let out a dramatic sigh. “Hey, quit being difficult,” he said, his tone a mix of amusement and mock frustration.
Each time he leaned in, you managed to dodge, and Argon’s pout grew more pronounced. His usually confident demeanour softened as he pretended to be hurt by your playful rejection. “Hold still for a moment,” he said, his voice dropping to a mock-serious tone. “Or I’ll bite you alongside all those kisses.”
“Oh, what a dreadful threat,” you mocked with your hands to your face. “I feel terror in my bones.”
“Don’t,” he strained as he missed you by an inch and nearly crashed into the bird’s fountain, “tempt me, you little rascal.”
Finally, with one last playful dodge, you relented after feeling sorry for his out of breath status, allowing him to catch you in a sweet, tender kiss. His pout immediately transformed into a radiant smile, and he pulled you into a warm embrace. “See! That wasn’t so very hard you little cretin,” he murmured, his voice filled with genuine affection. His arms wrapped around you, holding you close to prevent you from running off if you had any more bright ideas.
“Only because you looked like you were out of breath.”
˚₊‧꒰ა Aegnor ໒꒱ ‧₊˚
Aegnor’s sea-green eyes sparkled with mischief as he leaned in to kiss you, his lips curving into that charming smile that always made your heart skip a beat. But just as he was about to close the distance, you turned your head to the side, pretending to admire the landscape of Dorthonion. Blinking, momentarily taken aback, he chuckled softly.
“Admiring the view, are we?” he teased, his voice low and melodic, but you kept your gaze on the trees, feigning innocence.
He tried again, leaning in with a bit more determination, but you stepped away, pretending to adjust your hair. Aegnor’s smile faltered, and a small pout formed on his lips. He wasn’t used to being dodged like this, and you could see the wheels turning in his mind as he tried to figure out what you were up to.
For the third attempt, Aegnor placed a gentle hand on your waist, drawing you closer. “Now, where were we?” he murmured, his voice carrying a playful edge. But just as he leaned in, you suddenly found something fascinating on the ground—a very interesting leaf that needed immediate inspection.
Aegnor groaned softly, his pout deepening. “Are you doing this on purpose?” he asked, sounding adorably exasperated. His brows furrowed, and he crossed his arms over his chest, looking every bit like a sulking child.
You finally turned to face him, barely suppressing your laughter as you took in his pouty expression. "Whatever do you mean?" you asked, your voice full of feigned innocence.
He narrowed his eyes at you, clearly not buying your act. “You’re too clever for your own good,” he muttered, but his lips twitched, unable to stay serious for long.
Before he could protest further, you reached up and cupped his face, leaning in to press a soft, lingering kiss to his lips. Aegnor’s eyes fluttered shut, and when you pulled back, his pout had completely disappeared, replaced by a look of pure contentment.
“You’re so annoying,” he murmured against your lips, wrapping his arms around you and holding you close. But there was no real frustration in his voice, just a warm affection that made your heart melt.
“Only for you,” you whispered, smiling up at him. Aegnor grinned, his earlier sulkiness forgotten as he kissed you again, this time with no interruptions.
˚₊‧꒰ა Rog ໒꒱ ‧₊˚
Rog, ever the patient one, had tried to kiss you at least three times that day, each time met with you deftly dodging his advances. The first time, you’d leaned back just as his lips were about to brush against yours, claiming you needed to stretch. The second time, you’d suddenly turned your head, pretending to notice something interesting in the distance. By the third attempt, Rog was beginning to catch on.
He leaned in again, slowly, as if giving you time to prepare for the kiss. But just as his lips were about to meet yours, you moved away, this time bending down to tie your already perfectly tied shoe. When you glanced up, Rog’s expression was a mixture of confusion and the slightest hint of a pout.
“Is there something more interesting than me?” he asked, his deep voice tinged with mock seriousness. He wasn’t one to get easily flustered, but there was a glint of playful challenge in his eyes.
You stood up, shrugging nonchalantly. “What you’re talking about?" you innocently pouted, biting back a grin as you avoided his gaze once more.
Rog huffed softly, crossing his arms over his broad chest, his pout becoming more pronounced. “You’re avoiding me,” he accused, though the twinkle in his eyes betrayed his amusement.
You laughed lightly, pretending to be offended. “Me?! Avoid you? Never!”
He stepped closer, towering over you, and leaned in again, this time with a determined look. “Let’s try this one more time then,” he said, his voice a low rumble. But as he closed the distance, you quickly turned your head, causing him to kiss the air. Rog groaned, throwing his hands up in playful defeat.
“Alright, I surrender,” he grumbled, though there was a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. He sat down on a nearby bench, looking up at you with the most exaggerated, adorable pout you’d ever seen.
Your heart melted at the sight of this usually stoic warrior looking so adorably disgruntled. Finally, deciding you’d teased him enough, you walked over and sat beside him, gently taking his face in your hands. “Okay, okay, no more teasing,” you said softly before leaning in and kissing him tenderly.
Rog let out a soft sigh of contentment, his hands coming up to rest on your waist as he deepened the kiss, savoring the moment. When you finally pulled away, he smiled at you, all traces of his pout gone.
“You know, you’re lucky you’re so charming,” he murmured, pressing another kiss to your forehead.
˚₊‧꒰ა Thingol ໒꒱ ‧₊˚
You had been seated beside Thingol, engrossed in a discussion about the latest festival preparations. His silver hair shimmered in the golden light, and his deep eyes were fixed on you with an affectionate gleam. With a gentle smile, Thingol leaned in, clearly intent on stealing a kiss.
A soft huff of frustration escaped him as he straightened up, his usually regal demeanour slipping as he pouted, just a little. You bit back a smile, enjoying how this mighty King of the Sindar, tall and majestic, could look so endearing when denied something as simple as a kiss.
“Have I done something, beloved?” he asked, his deep voice laced with playful suspicion. There was a twinkle of mischief in your eyes, but you shook your head innocently.
“I don’t know. Did you do something wrong?” you replied, keeping the twinkling of mischief brilliant in your eyes as you glanced up at him.
Thingol narrowed his eyes slightly, clearly unconvinced, but his pout deepened when you didn’t immediately lean in to kiss him back. He was starting to look more like an annoyed child than a dignified king, and it was impossible not to find it utterly charming.
He tried once more, this time determined to catch you off guard. He leaned in quickly, but you dodged him again, your laughter bubbling up at his exasperated sigh. He crossed his arms over his chest, looking every bit the sulking ruler who wasn’t getting his way. A little bit again, he stomped his feet.
With a soft smile, as you suppressed your laughter, you leaned closer to him, craning your neck to press a gentle kiss to his lips. Immediately, Thingol’s pout vanished, replaced by a pleased, almost smug expression as he wrapped his arms around you, holding you close.
“Now you’re the one who’s out here doing wrong things. You’re being cruel,” he murmured, his voice tinged with playful reproach. His eyes, however, betrayed the fondness he held for you, even as you continued to tease him.
Falling into a wheeze, you tossed your head backwards at his mini tantrum. “You look as though you’re about to cry about it?”
“What if I did?”
“See, that wasn’t so hard,” he whispered against your lips, but the affection in his voice was undeniable. You laughed softly, resting your head against his chest as he finally got the kiss he had been so eagerly seeking.

[What Amras hears from the other room]
Y/n: My lord, I'm not sure what would be a wise decision-
(Loud crashing noises)
Amras, rushing in: Y/n!? Love!? Are you okay!?
Y/n:
Y/n: Lord Oberon is being a homewrecker. Literally. >:(
Lord Oberon, the cat: :3 (acting innocent beside a broken vase and cracked window)
Y/n, talking to Oberon: My lord, you must calm down. Would you like catnip? Would you-
“And I thought that dealing with Tyelko and Huan was a lot,” he muttered with a shake of his head as he stood in the doorway, hands on his hips. “Please be more careful, love. And keep your cat away from the ceramics. My mother would not be pleased that they were broken.”

the idea of the peredhel twins having heightened senses due to their maia blood is one of the concepts ive seen floating around that i really like, so here's my take on it combined with the feanorians (+ fingon) lingering about as houseless spirits that i explored some time ago in an old inktober post 😌
houseless spirits see all, but they can't interact with the world around them so i suppose that makes for quite a static existence...but compared to an oathbound eternity in Mandos (sans Fingon??), i like to imagine they'll stay a little longer to watch over those left behind, just to make sure they're doing alright 👍🏻
some more lighthearted bonuses cuz why not:
#silmarillion#maedhros#maglor#kidnap fam#elrond#elros#silmarillion comic#itd be pretty freaky to see injured ghost dudes lurking around but honestly i think after sirion its just another monday to the the twins#maglor has an inkling of whats going on but maedhros shrugs it off as kids having overactive imaginations#fingons here to mourn over maedhros' decline but also to make sure turgons great grandkids are doing aite#i despise colouring 😭😭#peredhel twins#sons of feanor#celegorm#caranthir#curufin#fingon#ambarussa#amrod#amras#mnm's dysfunctional family#noldor#amon ereb#silm#the silmarillion#the silmarillion fanart#elves#sakasakart#silm art#ghosts

The Sons of Fëanor behind closed doors
Author’s note: A collection of random intimate moments between you and your favorite Fëanorian. Part 1/? There will definitely be more parts to this!
-
Caranthir
Carnistir always runs warm
It doesn’t matter how cold it is outside, his temperature never seems to drop. Must be his blood cuz its boiling
In the evening, you’ll find him looking through the bookshelves in your chambers, thinking about which one he’s going to read to you
This is a routine you have established quite early on, him being a bookworm and you loving the sound of his voice and storytelling abilities
He always comes back to join you right when your feet start getting cold. The second he sits down beside you, you bury them underneath his legs, certified personal heater
He shudders at the coldness and shoots you an annoyed look, scolding you about how you should put on socks.
"You’re going to catch a cold."
"Not when I have you right here!" You grin and are met with him rolling his eyes
When he opens the book, you throw your arms around his neck and look over his shoulder, waiting for him to start reading, but he just seems to be flipping through the pages aimlessly, too distracted by your sudden proximity
His face grows redder with every second
You snuggle into his hot cheek, and he feels you smile against his skin.
How is he supposed to focus?? Manz is flustered
"You do remember where we left off, right?" You ask teasingly, he just clears his throat and mutters something about chapter three. When he finally finds the chapter he lets out a breath he seemed to be holding forever
Is it hot in here? Nope, just Cara’s body temperature which is off the charts by now
There’s something about his reading voice, the way it sounds soft like a velvet blanket, yet so sharp
And though you’d love to listen to the story, the exhaustion takes over you, leaving you half asleep on his shoulder near the chapter’s end
He puts down the book and rests his head against yours for a moment, secretly smiling to himself in pure bliss before gently picking you up and carrying you to bed
Eru, the things you do to him, but he wouldn’t have it any other way
Maedhros
This gentle giant loves it when you play with his hands
He noticed a long time ago how fidgety you would get whenever something was making you nervous
Your anxiety shows itself in you cracking your knuckles, playing with the rings on your fingers, pulling at the fabric of your clothing
Sometimes, however, you wouldn’t have anything to help reduce your anxiety
He made it a habit to look for that twitch in your fingers, and whenever that happens, he just takes your hands into his
And since his hands are significantly larger than yours, it would only take one of them to encapsulate both of yours, and squeeze them reassuringly (we’re obviously talking pre-oath here oop) while the other tends to whatever it is he was doing before
Although open displays of affection are frowned upon, he considers your comfort more important than the judgement he would receive
Let’s be real, nobody would dare to ever voice their disapproval. It’s Maedhros they’re talking to, zero fucks given here
This morning, you have been sitting next to Mai in a meeting for the longest time when one of the attendees decides to criticize some of the contributions you have made earlier. You freeze. Heart starts beating impossibly fast at the tone of his voice, pointed and condescending. Eru. Do you answer? Are you supposed to answer?! He’s looking right at you. Eruerueru-
The second Mai’s hand finds yours under the table, the tension leaves your body.
You take it with an urgency he recognizes all too well. One of your hands holds on to his wrist while the fingers on your other one intertwine themselves with his, your thumb drawing hectic circles into his cool skin. Your grip on his wrist tightens at times and you take deep breaths, trying to remain in control
You let go of his wrist and trace the veins on the back of his hand, trying to memorize the way his skin feels on yours, before you turn his hand around in your lap and do the same thing with the lines on his palm
His hand is relaxed in your grip, gradually transferring some of that energy to you
He’s just so tall and self assured — the complete opposite of your current state — you could find solace in his presence alone if it weren’t for your itching fingers
Your movements become slower the longer you stay in contact with him
It’s like his fëa gathers in his hand, knowing you need it to touch you directly to come to your senses
And so the rush wears off, eventually the attendee stops talking and you are able to form a response that is just coherent enough to be said out loud in this setting
And as a result of your bond and the indemmar emerging from it, Maitimo proceeds to expand your argument in his own words, closing the case gracefully as ever without letting anything show
You don’t know what you’d do without him, especially in situations like these
Maglor
Contrary to popular belief, Makalaurë is a clumsy individual
You have to give that to him, his mind seems to be running nonstop, I imagine him to always be on the edge of sensory overload — just look at the world around you, how could you not want to capture every single aspect of it in poetry and song?
So, naturally, he’s not always fully present, at least not when he’s scribbling things on paper
You can tell whether to talk to him or leave him to his affairs by the way he’s sitting, the speed and loudness of the quill on his paper.
The more he hunches his back, the more he squints his eyes, chews on his lower lip, the messier his handwriting appears, the jerkier he moves the quill — that’s when you know not to disturb him
Although sometimes, you yourself are quite preoccupied and forget about it
"LAURË!" you call out as you burst into his room, feet stomping on the wooden planks so enthusiastically their creaking could be mistaken for a cat screaming after having been stepped on its tail
Poor Laurë is so startled, he jumps out of his skin, dies and is reborn all at once
The quill in his hand slides across the paper with the sudden movement of his arm and, yikes, the ink pot is sent flying along with pieces of parchment
He yells, eyes wide, hands in the air, frozen in place, a literal deer in the headlights
You stop dead in your tracks and cover your mouth in shock, immediately regretting your loud entry
"ERU, Y/N, DON’T DO THIS TO ME" "I’M SO SORRY!!" "WHY ARE YOU SCREAMING?!" "I DON’T KNOW!!"
The last piece of paper lands on the ground, the air settles down and only then do you see the damage — splotches of ink are littered all over his desk and notes, his hands and sleeves. He sits there, with his upper body turned towards you, staring at his work on the floor, slowly breaking out of his state of shock and moving to pick it up with shaky hands
You hate to admit it to yourself, but he’s so unintentionally funny with his big eyes and startled movements. You can see how he’s trying to coordinate his thoughts again as his hands reach for each piece of paper below, sometimes grabbing the air instead of the actual object
Somebody help this man
And Eru forbid, when he sees the spilled ink on his notes, he goes through all the stages of grief right in front of your eyes and you feel even worse for the laughter that’s bubbling up inside of you
He’s like a sloth, slowly collecting his belongings with calculating eyes
You hastily step to his side and help him arrange everything on the desk, then proceed to get a washcloth to wipe away the spilled ink
When you’re finished, you are met with judgemental eyes
"I’m sorry, I’m really sorry," you manage to get out before the laughter bursts out of you. Laurë huffs and before you know it, his blue fingertips smear the leftover ink across your face
"Hey!" you yelp when he picks you up and carries you outside
If it weren’t for the loud breath he lets out through his nose, you would have thought he was really mad at you, but he just puts you back down, trying his hardest to hide his smile upon seeing the blue lines on your face
"I’ll just come back later," you purse your lips and look up at him. He shakes his head at the mischievous twinkle in your eyes before leaning down to kiss the top of your head and then slamming the door in your face lol
Celegorm
If there’s one thing you know, it’s that Tyelko loves nature
You, on the other hand, have certain things you’d prefer to stay away from, such as spiders
And as much as you love him, his "conquer your fear" mindset is anything but dear to you. You’re a firm believer of respecting people’s fears and not forcing them to change that, whereas he thinks practically and doesn’t always consider your thoughts, such as right now
He came running into your room when he had heard you scream in fear, ready to attack whatever was threatening you, or so he thought
So there you are, standing on a chair, pointing at the spider in his hand
"Tyelkormo, I swear on my life, if you come any closer-"
"Y/N, you can’t be serious, it’s tiny." "I don’t care!" You yell, slowly stepping down from the chair and backing up
He smirks "You can’t be that scared, love"
And all the alarms in your head go off when he steps closer to you, spider enclosed in his hand that is extended towards you
When your back hits the wall, you know you’re done for
"Tyelko-" "Just look at it!" He laughs at your reaction, knowing he won’t actually do anything. Deep down, you know it too, but he just loves to poke fun at you and you fall for it every single time
You think he'd leave it at that, but he actually dares to open his hand and of course, the spider jumps out in a frenzy, beginning to rope itself down from the palm of his hand
And you SCREAM, poor Tyelko actually has to cover his ears that's what he gets
The spider hurries away into some corner and you make a leap for the bed, grab a pillow and throw it at Tyelko, yelling at him to take it outside
When he finally does, your rage is still very much present and you take another pillow from behind you and hit him repeatedly
"Don't-" hit. "you-" hit. "ever-" hit. "do-" hit. "that-" hit. "again-" hit. "do-" hit. "you-" hit. "understand-" hit. "you're so annoying!!!"
He's obviously unfazed, if anything his smirk has grown even bigger
His arms snake around your waist and pull you close, cradling your head in his hand
"Did you seriously think I was going to let that spider harm you? You're so easy to tease, love"
Curufin
"Close your eyes," he instructs softly before carefully placing the item in your hands. He spent hours working on this, both scared and excited for your reaction
When he tells you to open your eyes again, they fall on a set of beautiful earrings. But that's not what makes you tear up!
Months ago, you had mentioned how much you missed the color of forget-me-nots in the winter time. It was a silly little thought you had voiced on a leisurely stroll with him on a rather cold morning, not expecting him to actually take it to heart like this
But here you are, in your hand these rose gold earrings, shaped like forget-me-nots, with little shimmering gems in the center — the same color as your favorite spring flower.
"Curufin!" you gasp, looking up at him
He just smiles and for the first time ever, he looks flustered, bashful, even
He's always so calm, stoic and levelheaded. To see him deliver a gesture like this is unusual to say the least
"Here, let me help you put them on," he gently takes the earrings out of your hands with his calloused fingers
You notice a band-aid on his left index finger, did he hurt himself when crafting these?
Once the earrings are on, you step in front of the mirror and Eru, the smile that blooms on your face almost makes his heart stop
Curvo was never one to display a lot of emotion, he just never deemed it necessary
But seeing you touched like this made him question what was so bad about letting his guard down sometimes
Especially when you would look at him, and his heart would erupt into a million tiny butterflies upon the effects of his gesture
Amrod
You're sat on the wooden fence framing the fields close to your estate, watching the cows
The sun is just about to set and you catch yourself staring at him
"Is there something on my face?" he suddenly asks and raises his eyebrows, you're caught in the act
Quick, think of something to save yourself from the embarrassment!!! Or else he'll never stop teasing you about this!!!
So you flick his forehead and watch him open his mouth in protest
"Hey!" "What are you gonna do, Pityo?"
You stick your tongue out and jump down into the high grass, watching him do the same, ready to follow you for some revenge
The air is quiet, and the first fireflies are already buzzing around the fields when he starts chasing you through the flowers
Your giggles and screams make the cows raise their heads one by one, disturbed by these two strange creatures running around them
Usually, Amrod knows not to run too close to the cows as it would agitate them, but he's just too caught up in the way your laughter tickles his pointed ears and the way your h/c hair flows in the wind — he doesn't notice one of them standing closer to him than he has anticipated
So yeah, poor unfortunate Pityo bumps into that cow. And he stumbles. And falls. And when he realizes what he's fallen into, he yells. And when you realize what he's fallen into, he's done for
"NO WAY!!!!" "STOP"
He gets up and looks down at his linen shirt which is now an earthy, lovely shade of brown
When you come closer, you see the blush on his cheeks, his ears growing redder and redder
"Not a word to my brothers!" he warns, pointing his finger at you
"What do I get in return?" you ask and clasp your hands in front of your body, a shit-eating grin on your face pun intended
He looks around helplessly, trying to come up with something to keep you from running off to tell everyone about this mishap
He just huffs in defeat, shoulders slacking "I'll do whatever you want, just don't tell them."
You don't know why, but seeing him at your mercy like this makes you feel bolder than usual
"Kiss me." It's a short and sweet proposal.
You can see in his face that he's expected anything but this, because manz GASPS and is frozen in place
He's been crushing on you for quite some time, and the two of you certainly shared a cheeky bond, constantly teasing each other in a loving way, but kissing you???
He's at a loss for words and just stares at you in disbelief, mouth opening and closing in an attempt to reply but failing miserably
You've never seen him so flustered when he usually has a snarky comeback for every situation. He's so cute.
You carefully take a few steps closer to him until you're a few centimetres apart and look up at him with a timid smile, waiting for his reaction. And he gazes into your eyes with a newfound vulnerability that makes your heart beat a lot faster than it already does
And when he finally makes up his mind and decides to go for it, the sun has set
His lips hover over yours before softly laying themselves upon yours like a secret in the dark, only to be whispered aloud in your presence
Amras
"Telvo, I'm really tired, how much longer do we have to walk?" you ask, the ache in your feet is almost unbearable at this point
He came into your room this morning, asking you to accompany him on his quest to find mushrooms to try an old recipe for a stew he had found in the library
You don't know how many times he's already come knocking at your door demanding your help for the most trivial things, but you comply every time, you just can't help it. Some of your best adventures are made with him
So there you are, wandering along the path leading back to your home, your apron full of mushrooms of all kind, Telvo walking in front of you with that bounce in his step indicating his good mood
"We're almost there, look!" He points towards the house on the edge of the valley you're passing through, although it's a bit too far for your liking
You groan, stumbling over a root sticking out from beneath you and having the mushrooms tumble all over the ground
"Oh no..." you sigh, looking up at your companion who's surprised at your exhaustion
"Are you alright? I'm sorry if I made you walk too much!" He stammers, crouching to pick up the mushrooms and put them back into your apron, which you had folded into a makeshift bag
Once they're all in there, he turns his back to you and gestures for you to hop on, which you do gladly
"Y/N, Y/N, you're spending too much time indoors. Look at how exhausted you are!" he snickers and resumes his trip towards your house. You just snuggle into his shoulder and blow into his ear
"Not everyone can run around in the forest all day, you know?" to which he just shakes his head and laughs
Once you're inside, you begin to prepare the stew, bickering and joking around all the while
"Eru, hopefully this will taste good. Where did you even find that recipe?"
He tells you about a collection of old, dusty books hidden away in his father's library. Some traveller had devised this recipe a long time ago. It's said to warm you from within with its unique taste. You could listen to his rambling for hours. He's always had a talent for discovering the most random things and taking them straight to you, his partner in crime and you wouldn't have it any other way.
Once the stew is done, you dig in, and who would have thought? A blissful warmth spreads throughout your bodies, caressing your bellies and putting satisfied smiles onto your faces
"Told you it was gonna taste good," he mumbles and winks, beckoning you to come and sit next to him so you could enjoy the incoming food coma together
He really is full of peculiar ideas, your beloved redhead

Pretty Negotiators
Ambarussa x Vanifinwe
2.6k Words
****
Vanifinwë came running down the hallway as she spied Ambarussa walking into the household, squealing with excitement as she bounced and skipped in her run. A big beaming grin on her face, bringing the two from their conversation to see her coming full speed right at them. Pityafinwë leaned down to hold out his arms and lift her from the floor.
“Vani! It is so good to see you!” Pityo said and Vanifinwë threw her arms around his neck as she hugged her hanyo snugly.
“I misseded you so much!” Vanifinwë said to her Pityo before pulling away from him and leaning towards Telufinwë, who reached to take her from Pityafinwë. Her arms also came around his neck to hug him close to her, and Telufinwë rubbed her back tenderly as he held her.
They had been gone on a hunting excursion for the last couple of weeks, missing out on a lot of the excitement that was going on in the household. So had Tyelkormo but Vanifinwë had seen her Tyelko already, who promised her that Pityo and Telvo would play with her when they got home.
“Will you guys play with me?” Vanifinwë asked, Nelyafinwë was busy with their grandfather and Atya. Makalaure was gone for a recital today, and Carnistir was particularly in a mood now that Tyelkormo was back. And Curvo… Well Curvo never wanted to play with Vanifinwë. At least, not in the ways she wanted to play.
“Of course we will nesa! We will have lots of fun together and everything!” Pityafinwë said not thinking about what she might have up her sleeve, and they both watched as a big and happy grin spread across her face at the idea that they were going to come and play with her.
“YAY!” Vanifinwë squealed out, clapping her hands together and the twins began to chuckle at her reaction. The little one began to wiggle out of Telufinwë’s hold, forcing him to set her down and she was quick to grab both of their hands and begin to try and drag them along.
“What are we going to play, Vani?” Telufinwë asked her and Vanifinwë thought for a long moment as they began their trek through the halls to her bedroom. Where there the games could begin and Vanifinwë had the perfect game in mind. She needed their help with talking to Tyelkormo and she was going to make them extra pretty for the occasion.
“It’s a secret.” She whispered out to him, as she continued to drag them down the halls, the pair only exchanged a look between one another. They had an inkling as to where this was going and she didn’t want to get rejected. Both of them sighed out softly knowing that makeup was going to be involved undoubtedly.
They only silently continued their trek through the hallway, both of them deciding it was best not to argue with her whims and desires seeing as she had been without them for so long. Before the finally came to her bedroom door, for it to open and there they saw chaos in her room. Stuffing was everywhere, dolls were torn apart, it looked as though her room had been ransacked, and the only thing that seemed to be safe was King Rabbit that she had Nelyo put up high when she left the room this morning. Knowing this was going to happen.
“Vani? What happened to your room?” Pityafinwë asked as she continued to lead them in before letting go of their hands and pointing to the chairs for them to sit in. Both brothers exchanged another glance between one another and sighed out moving to pick up the knocked over chairs and sitting down in them. While Vanifinwë came over to her dresser to start pulling makeup out of it, before she came over to them with a palette in hand and stopped in front of them.
“I needs to make you pretty, so you can talk to Tyelko.” Vanifinwë said beginning her explanation as she dug her finger into a copper shade on the palette and came to Telufinwë to smear it all over his eyelids.
“And why do we need to talk to Tyelko? What does it have to do with your room?” Telufinwë asked her as she continued- generously- applying copper eyeshadow to his lids. Vanifinwë paused and sighed as Telufinwë opened his eyes,
“Because his puppies keeps getting in here and tearing up my stuffs.” She said to him, before she moved over to Pityafinwë and dug her finger around in a deep chocolate brown shade and Pityo closed his eyes.
“Have you tried talking to him about it Vani?” Pityafinwë asked her and Vanifinwë began to nod her head as she drug her finger over his eyelids and smearing the brown around wildly over his eyelids. Telufinwë only began to snort at the mess she was making on his twins face, at least now people would be able to tell them apart for a short period of time,
“Yes, and he says I should just keeps my door closed. But Amme won’t let me close my doors ‘cause I can’ts open it by myself.” Vanifinwë said to him, and pulled away to march right back to her dresser indignantly, Pityafinwë shot Telufinwë a glare for his snorting. But it didn’t last long as he began to crack up at the copper bits all over his face too. At least he wasn’t the only one who looked crazy.
Vanifinwë marched back over with a blush brush in hand and a palette of blush… or maybe bronzer as Amme had called it before. They knew enough about makeup now thanks to Vanifinwë and what little bit their Amme used,
“Well that’s not very fair.” Telufinwë said with a frown as he watched Vanifinwë swirl the brush into the bronzer before she started on Pityafinwë’s cheeks, applying a heavy orangey brown to his cheeks, and jaw and temple. None of it blended in so he just had spots of “tan” applied to his face. Telufinwë grinned at the sight of him and his now orange face, oh this was just too good. Even if he knew he was next, it was hilarious to see what happened to his brother at Vanifinwë’s hands.
“How do I look, Vani?” Pityafinwë asked her, and Vanifinwë paused to admire her work for a moment.
“Very tan.” She said simply marching back to the dresser and pulling out a different palette of blush, this time it was absolutely a true orange. Telufinwë pulled his lips into a thin line as she dipped her brush in it and approached him and it was Pityafinwë’s turn to begin chuckling at the sight of what was about to happen.
“Why thank you, are you going to make Telvo tan?” Pityafinwë asked, and Vanifinwë shrugged dragging the brush across his nose and cheeks.
“No just blushes. But will you guys talk to Tyelko for me? Please?” She asked as she pulled the brush away from his face and looked up at him with big pleading eyes. Telufinwë felt his heart swell before he looked to Pityafinwë and they both began to nod.
“Yes Vani, we will talk to Tyelko for you.” Telufinwë answered for both of them, and they both watched the way that she began to smile and jump up and down with excitement.
“Thank you hanyo’s!” She squeaked out and they both began to laugh at her excitement, and probably relief that an adult was going to speak with him. Even if they only had eighty years on her, they were still indeed older than she. Vanifinwë hurried to go and put the blush away, before she began to dig around for jewelry in another drawer.
Both twins held still as she attached clip on earrings and put necklaces over their head, layering so many that their necks felt heavy before she hurried off to her toy bin. Still they didn’t move, simply waiting to see what she would do, before she came out with a cape in each hand.
“Here put these on.” She directed firmly and they both took a black cape from her hands. A cape that was only Vanifinwë sized, but that didn’t stop them from doing as she said.Tying the cape around their necks and making sure the little bit of it draped down their backs.
“How do we look, Vani?” Telufinwë asked, and Vanifinwë looked at them for a moment and hummed, placing a hand on her chin as her finger tapped her cheek. Her frilly pink gown swaying as she did so,
“Beautiful! You looks amazing!” Vanifinwë finally decided bouncing in place for a moment, before she ran over to grab their hands and pull them up out of the chairs. The twins got up from their seats and let her pull them along out of the room and down the hallway. Vanifinwë didn’t say anything as she stood between them, holding each of their hands as they began to try and search for Tyelkormo.
It was no secret to those that worked on the estate that the Feanorian brothers were an absolute sucker for their littlest sister and let her draw all over their faces very… um well creatively. But all they did was smile and snicker as they passed them by, or got the occasional awe from the lady servants who found it so cute that they’d indulge their little sister. It really was an endearing sight even despite how crazy and ridiculous the makeup looks might be.
Finally Vanifinwë could hear Tyelkormo talking to someone and she hurriedly began to pull them along with her right in his direction. There he stood talking to Curufinwë, his back to them but Curufinwë’s eyes landed on Ambarussa and began to look them up and down, biting back the sneer at their appearance.
“Tyelko!” Vanifinwë said, bringing the ner to swivel around on the ball of his foot and look at his siblings, with a grin spreading across his face. Laughing at the sight of the “well dressed” twins, and Vanifinwë the little ring leader in the middle. Oh this had worked out better than he thought it would by talking Vanifinwë into asking them to play with her.
After all those weeks of being at her mercy it was nice to see that someone else was at her mercy for a change. His scalp felt relief at the sight of them, as did his face without having to wear anymore makeup.
“My oh my Vanifinwë who do you have here?” He chuckled folding his arms over his chest as Curufinwë took his place next to Tyelkormo. Vanifinwë didn’t smile though, she pursed her lips and scowled some at him. Making him quirk a brow up at her reaction.
“These are my neragotiatorers.” She said seriously, and it made Pityafinwë and Telufinwë begin to chuckle at her words. Trying to look serious as they cleared their throats and stood tall, nodding their heads in unison and in agreement of the little lady.
“Negotiators? For what? To talk to me?” Tyelkormo asked with some surprise, seeing that they were going along with it. They only waited for Vanifinwë to nod her head again,
“Yes, and theys can tell you why.” She said matter-of-factly folding her arms over her chest, and the twins looked down at her before looking back to Tyelkormo.
“Well?” He asked,
“We have come to negotiate on behalf of the Lady Vanifinwë, and her bedroom.” Telufinwë was the first to speak up as he oh so delicately steepled his fingers together. Pointing them in Tyelkormo’s direction, but he only raised his brows and began to shrug,
“Allow me to elaborate, your.. Creatures.. Are wreaking havoc on the young Lady’s room.” Pityafinwë said and then it clicked for Tyelkormo, they were talking about his dogs getting into her room. Tyelkormo began to shrug his shoulders at her “negotiators” words.
“So close the door Vani.” But Vani only stamped her foot down angrily and looked up at him in anger, but Telufinwë placed a hand on her shoulder.
“The Lady’s mother has prohibited her from shutting the bedroom door as it is too hard for the Lady to open it.” Telufinwë said and Tyelkormo sighed out as he looked down at Vanifinwë who was staring intensely back at him.
“I see, that is a problem.” Tyelkormo said nonchalantly, which only seemed to get a rise further out of Vanifinwë, but the twins kept her calm and relaxed. There was an air of reassurance that they were going to handle everything. That she’d be okay and alright to not have to worry about whether or not Tyelkormo would agree or not.
“Yes it is, and you should help out by agreeing to keep the creatures at bay. We don’t need to lose King Rabbit.” At the mention of Vanifinwë’s new stuffed animal that had saved him all those weeks ago from being at her mercy his face dropped. Recognizing immediately where this could go wrong, like he needed another one of his pups to destroy that Rabbit. Carnistir would kill him too if his hard work was torn up and their sister heartbroken again.
“Ah a favor for not only Lady Vanifinwë but for King Rabbit too? Well why didn’t you say so? I suppose I can take extra care to make sure that the pups are confined to a certain part of the estate grounds and keep you and King Rabbit safe.” Tyelkormo said to Vanifinwë who seemed to heave out a heavy sigh of relief at his words to know that she’d not have to worry about the dogs anymore.
“Thank you hanyo.” Vanifinwë said in her relieved voice making everyone smile, though Curufinwë’s eyes were on Ambarussa still and not their littlest sibling. He didn’t and couldn’t understand how Vanifinwë could manage to rope them into playing such games with her.
“Just one more final thing for negotiations, you should have to help pick up her room with our help of course… To make up for the atrocities.” Telufinwë added, and Vanifinwë perked up tremendously and unfolded her arms to go and grab Tyelkormo’s hand. Who didn’t look enthused,
“Yes! I need help! Please hanyo?” She asked with big blue eyes, and Tyelkormo sighed out heavily and relented.
“Alright, alright. Fine. I’ll help.” Vanifinwë released a shriek of a yay and began to pull Tyelkormo along quickly, practically running and making him speedwalk. Ambarussa only laughed and then playfully bowed to Curufinwë who began to scoff,
“Why do you even let her bother? You two look ridiculous.” Curufinwë asked, almost looking down his nose at Ambarussa in their ridiculous makeup and costumes. But it was there turn to wear a darker expression on their faces, always was he making some underhanded comment about Vanifinwë dressing them up. Neither understood why it mattered to him,
“And? She’s happy and that’s what matters.” Pityafinwë responded defensively, and Curufinwë shrugged at his words. Pocketing a small book that he usually kept on his person, a frown still on his lips as he looked his twin brothers over and their ridiculous makeup and costume.
“Well I can say with confidence she’s never going to ensnare me in these childish games you all indulge her.” He said with a snort, before he brushed past the both of them. Telufinwë ground his teeth at his words, before looking over at Pityo.
“I say we find a way to change that.” Telvo said in a soft voice as Curufinwë grew out of earshot. Pityafinwë turned his head to look at his brother with a smile at this, oh that was a perfect idea.
“Let’s bring it up with Tyelko. After we help clean up the room as promised.” Pityafinwë said, beginning to formulate a plan in his head. They’d have to talk to him when they were alone, if not Vanifinwë would proverbially spill the beans about the whole thing and ruin their chance to get back at Curvo.

I’ll Wait For You
Amras x reader
A/N: This was based on the Arranged Marriage headcanons I wrote for the Fëanorians a while ago. Enjoy!
Warnings: arranged marriage AU, anxiety attack (minor), comfort, fluff
Words: 2.3k
Synopsis: With the recent union of your and Amras’s arranged marriage and thrust into the world of rivalry, you and Amras find yourselves in the comfort of each other’s company.
The palace of Tirion was a marvel, its white walls gleaming under the light of Telperion. Every corner of the grand hall was adorned with ornate decorations—garlands of gold and silver, and chandeliers that glittered like the stars themselves. Your new family knew how to display their wealth and power, and tonight’s gathering was no exception. The grandeur of the event was enough to take one’s breath away, but it also made you feel as if you were drowning in an ocean of expectation.
You had anticipated a certain level of formality when you were informed of your arranged marriage to Amras. The news had come swiftly, with little time to prepare, and you had barely caught your breath before you were thrust into the role of his spouse. The marriage itself had been a quiet affair, a ceremony marked by propriety and duty rather than celebration. You had accepted your fate with as much grace as you could muster, but it did little to calm the nerves that now gnawed at your insides.
This evening was your first official appearance as part of the House of Fëanor, and you were unaccustomed to the grandeur, to the sheer volume of people—nobles from every corner of Valinor, all dressed in their finest silks and jewels. Their eyes had been on you from the moment you entered the hall, assessing, judging. You could feel the weight of their expectations pressing down on you, and you wondered if they could see how out of place you felt.
Amras had been at your side like a quiet reassurance in the midst of the chaos. He was a man of few words, and his quiet demeanour had been a comfort to you in the whirlwind that had followed your marriage. Yet, despite his calming presence, you could not shake the feeling that you were a stranger in this world of rivalry.
The rivalry was heated, an undercurrent that ran through the gathering like a silent storm. Fëanor and his half-brother Fingolfin had long competed in every aspect of their lives, and now it seemed that even the marriages of their children had become another arena for their contest. Each noble family seemed to be evaluating not just you, but the alliance your marriage represented. It was too much—the grandeur, the scrutiny, the sense that you were nothing more than a piece on a chessboard, moved by forces beyond your control.
As the evening wore on, the noise and the crowd began to overwhelm you. Every smile felt forced, every word strained. The music, once beautiful, now felt like an assault on your senses. Your heart raced in your chest, and the walls of the grand hall seemed to close in around you. You needed to escape, to find a place where you could breathe without feeling the weight of so many eyes on you.
Making your excuses as politely as you could, you slipped away from Amras’s side with a murmured promise to return soon. His reply was a simple nod, though, the slight furrow in his brow questioned your decision, nevertheless he had let you go without question. You wound your way through the throng of people, past the servants carrying trays of food and drink, and finally through a side door that led into one of the many corridors of the palace.
The quiet of the corridor was a welcome relief from the noise of the hall, but it did little to calm the storm that raged inside you. Walking quickly, your footsteps echoing against the marble floors as you sought out a place where you could be alone, where you could gather your thoughts and still your racing heart. And it seemed as the corridors twisted and turned, leading you deeper into the palace, you found yourself at the entrance to the gardens.
The scent of jasmine and roses filled the air, mingling with the cool, crisp scent of the night. A soft breeze stirred the leaves of the trees, and the sound of running water from a nearby fountain provided a soothing backdrop to the otherwise still night. The path before you was lined with stone benches and flowering bushes, their petals glowing softly in the light of the stars above. Briskly you followed the path, your feet carrying you deeper into the garden until you reached a secluded corner where the night-blooming jasmine grew thick and fragrant.
Here, at last, you allowed yourself to breathe as you sank down onto one of the stone benches, your hands trembling as you buried your face in them. The tears you had been holding back all evening spilled over, hot and unwelcome, and you felt a sob catch in your throat. It was all too much—too fast, too overwhelming. You had barely had time to process your new life, and now you were expected to be a part of this grand family, to fit into a world that felt completely alien to you.
You knew that Amras was kind, that he would understand if you told him how you felt. But you didn’t want to burden him with your fears, not when he had his own struggles to contend with. He was a quiet man, often overshadowed by his more outspoken brothers, and you wondered if he felt just as out of place in this grand gathering as you did.
Caught in your whirlwind of emotions, a soft rustle of leaves behind you made you freeze, and you hastily wiped the tears from your cheeks, trying to compose yourself. You turned, expecting to see a servant or perhaps one of Amras’s brothers, but instead, you found yourself looking into the concerned eyes of your husband.
“Amras,” you breathed, your voice shaky as you attempted to stand. You hadn’t heard him approach, hadn’t expected him to follow you.
He didn’t say anything at first, simply watching you with those piercing green eyes of his. Then, slowly, he stepped forward and knelt in front of you, halting your actions, his gaze searching your face for answers.
“Please, no need to stand. Are you all right?” he asked softly, his voice full of concern.
You wanted to lie, to tell him that you were fine, that you just needed a moment to yourself. But the words caught in your throat, and all you could do was shake your head as fresh tears welled up in your eyes.
Immediately, his expression softened, and without a word, he reached out to take your hands in his. His touch was warm, grounding you at the moment, and the gentleness of it made your heartache. “It’s all right,” he said quietly, his voice soothing. “You don’t have to explain if you don’t want to.”
You nodded, biting your lip as you tried to hold back the tears that threatened to spill over again. “I–I’m sorry,” you whispered, your voice trembling. “I didn’t mean to run off like that…it’s just…everything is so much, and I don’t know how to—”
Amras squeezed your hands gently, cutting off your words. “I know,” he said softly. “It is overwhelming, isn’t it? This is all so new, and…so much has changed so quickly.”
You nodded, biting your lip as you tried to rein in your emotions. “I don’t belong here. I can't fit in…or never,” you whispered. “I don’t know how to…to be what they expect me to be.”
At your whimpers his eyes softened as he reached out to take your hand in his. His touch was warm and reassuring, his thumb brushing gently over your knuckles. “You’re not alone in feeling that way,” he admitted. “I’ve lived with my family my entire life, and even I feel out of place sometimes. They can be…a lot.”
You looked up at him, surprised by the honesty in his voice. He was quiet by nature, often overshadowed by his more boisterous brothers, but in this moment, you saw the depth of his understanding and his own struggles.
“It’s just that everything happened so fast,” you continued, your voice trembling. “I barely had time to process the arrangement before we were married, and now…now I’m here, surrounded by all of this, and it’s like I can’t keep up.”
“I feel the same way,” he confessed. “I didn’t expect things to move so quickly either. I thought…I thought we would have more time to get to know each other, to adjust.”
He paused, his gaze searching yours as if trying to find the right words. “I want you to know,” he said slowly, “that I don’t expect anything from you. I don’t want you to feel like you have to be someone you’re not, or that you have to meet anyone’s expectations—least of all my father’s.”
“You don’t truly mean that?” you whispered brokenly.
In response, he offered a genuine smile and a nod of his head. “Oh, but I do.”
You felt a rush of gratitude at his words, and your grip tightened on his hand. “Thank you,” you murmured, your voice thick with emotion. “I—I’m so relieved to hear you say that.” You felt a warmth spread through your chest at his words, and for the first time that evening, you felt like you could breathe. The weight that had been pressing down on you lifted slightly, and you looked at his with newfound gratitude.
Shaking his head, his expression gentle. “Perfection is overrated,” he said softly. “And it’s not what I want from you. I just want us to be able to talk, to get to know each other as we really are—not in feeling out of place. I understand how overwhelming it can be, especially when you’re suddenly thrust into the middle of all this expectation.”
His honesty touched you deeply. You had always admired him for his quiet strength, but hearing him admit his own vulnerabilities made you feel closer to him in a way you hadn’t expected. The idea that you weren’t alone in your feelings, that even someone as composed as Amras could feel out of place, gave you a sense of comfort and camaraderie.
“I’ve always felt like an outsider,” you confessed quietly, turning your gaze to the flowers blooming around you. “Even before all this. I’m not used to being the center of attention, and it feels like I’m constantly under scrutiny now. I’m afraid of making a mistake, of disappointing you or your family.”
While his expression softened, he hesitantly reached out to gently cupped your cheek, turning your face so you could meet his eyes. “You could never disappoint me,” he said with quiet conviction. “And as for my family…they’re a lot to handle, I know. They’re just…well, they’re a passionate lot, and sometimes that passion can be overwhelming. But you don’t have to worry. Take as much time as you need to settle in, I’ll be patient.”
His thumb brushed against your cheek, wiping away a stray tear that had escaped.
For a moment, the two of you sat in comfortable silence, simply holding each other’s gaze. The garden around you seemed to grow even more tranquil, as if the night itself was offering its blessings to your newfound understanding. The gentle rustling of the leaves, the sweet scent of the jasmine, the distant chirp of crickets—it all became a comforting symphony that wrapped around you like a blanket.
As you sat there, you began to notice the little things about Amras that you hadn’t had the chance to before—the way his hair caught the moonlight, the gentle strength in his hands as they held yours, the quiet confidence in his voice that belied his earlier confession of uncertainty. There was a depth to him that you were only just beginning to understand, and it made you want to know more, to explore the facets of the man who had become your husband.
Eventually, Amras broke the silence, his tone lighter as he said, “You know, I was thinking…perhaps we should try to slip out of these gatherings more often. I’m sure my father and uncle would be too busy trying to outdo each other to notice our absence.”
You laughed, the sound bright and genuine, and it felt good to release some of the tension that had been weighing on you all evening. “You’re probably right,” you said, a twinkle in your eyes. “They seem more interested in their competition than in who’s actually present.”
“True,” he said, tilting his head slightly, “and when I was younger, I used to hide out in these gardens whenever family gatherings became too much. My brothers would be off making a spectacle, and I’d sneak away to find some peace.”
You couldn’t help but smile at the image of a young Amras hiding among the flowers, seeking refuge from the chaos of his family. “I suppose it’s no wonder you found me here, then,” you replied, a hint of amusement in your tone.
He chuckled softly, the sound warm and genuine. “Perhaps,” he agreed. “The gardens have always been a place of solace for me. It seems fitting that we’d find some peace here together.”
As the night wore on, you and Amras continued to talk, the conversation flowing easily between you. You spoke of small things at first—your favorite places, your hobbies, the things that brought you joy. And in return, Amras opened up about his own struggles, his feelings of being overshadowed by his brothers, his desire to find his own path.
The more you talked, the more you realised how much you had in common. You both longed for a sense of belonging, for a place where you could be yourselves without the weight of expectations.
As the night grew later and the chill in the air deepened, Amras finally stood and extended his hand to you. “Shall we make our farewells?” he asked softly, sensing that you were ready to leave.
“Sure, why not,” you murmured. “I think it’s high time we returned home.”

Y/n, cuddling their cat, reading, and singing quietly to themself (and the cat): Tears falling down at the party. Saddest little baby in the room. Fears, tell me fears, don't get me started. I get a little grey hair for every scare you share.
Amras, admiring from afar: :]
Y/n, only just noticing him and jumping: Ah! How long were you there??
“Standing? I'm not here at all, just continue your singing and pretend I don't exist.” Leaning against the doorframe, he crossed his arms over his chest with a slight tilt of his head and a fond smile as he looked on.

The Sculptor in her Workshop, Unknown, Late Third Age, Tirion.
and
The Return of the Lost Son, Unknown, Early Fourth Age, Tirion.
This is something of a companion piece to this Nerdanel character study (on AO3). In it, she sculpts her husband and sons as she feels them die across the sea, and she waits long ages for Maglor until he comes home.
(Makalaurë, standing still in the empty space that long awaited him, makes a better marble than live body.)
I think this is the most detailed piece I've ever done. I genuinely started it as "oh, I have a very vivid mind picture of this scene, I could do a little sketch!" and here I am about two weeks and 19 hours of painting later. I'm really proud of it, though.
Please reblog if you like it!
IDs (also in alt), details and more rambling under the cut.
[ID: Two digital paintings of the same room, a sculptor's workshop. In the first, Nerdanel, a light-skinned elf woman with long curly red hair, is working on an abstract sculpture in marble. Behind her are six marble life-sized statues: Fëanor, brandishing a gem, Maedhros, with one hand missing, arms partly crossed, and after a gap, Celegorm, kneeling down to hold Huan, Caranthir, reading a book, Curufin, forging a dagger on an anvil, his arm raised to hammer it, and Ambarussa, holding each other. On the foreground right is a large stab of marble waiting to be sculpted. The second painting has the same background with the workshop and statues, with a more reddish tint as if it's sunset. The abstract sculpture has now replaced the slab of stone and in the middle, Nerdanel is kneeling in front of Maglor, as light-skinned elf with very long dark hair, holding his hand, while she has her other hand on her mouth. She is crying. Maglor is standing in the gap between the statues of Maedhros and Celegorm. The other pictures are details of the first two.]
The statues in order: Fëanor, Maedhros, (Maglor), Celegorm&Huan, Caranthir, Curufin, Amrod and Amras. Feel free to zoom in, they are each pretty detailed.
This is the first time I've drawn any of the younger sons. I did Nerdanel and Fëanor, Maedhros, Maglor and Celegorm before, each in slightly different AUs, but desiging Caranthir, Curufin and Ambarussa was fun!
Maedhros is missing his hand and has scars, because while Nerdanel never saw it, Finrod came to tell her what he looked like after Angband. She first sculpted him with his hand, though, so I imagine taking a hammer to it must have been... a specific sort of pain.
Curufin is a mix of Fëanor and Celebrimbor, they all look like each other, but I headcanon that Fëanor was more thin and wiry (though still strong), while Curufin was a bit buffer, as he focused more on large works (weapons and infrastructure) than jewellery, and Celebrimbor who was a teen/young adult in the war put up more fat once in Ost-en-Edhil, after many years of privation.
I can never settle on Caranthir's craft/occupation, but it's something bookish. As for Ambarussa, I think Nerdanel just wanted to remember them as happy youths, rather than attach them to any activity.

Heraldic devices; Fëanorions
Maedhros: It was quite a challenge to design Maedhros' device. He is the heir and therefore it must show, but it also have to contain his personality. Which I always interpreted as more elegant and simple, neat. I wanted to incorporate the motif of rose. Since I connect Maedhros (and Nerdanel) to roses. I wanted to incorporate both the star of Fëanor and rose of Nerdanel.
I. the first picture shows the device of Maitimo as he used in Valinor
II. Maedhros after Fëanor's death, high king of the Noldor in Beleriand. Used briefly of course. I believe it was designed by Maglor and he used it during Maedhros captivity. Maglor was not thrilled to be a king and so I can imagine he would use Maedhros' a lot. It has 16 points, just as Finwë's heraldic device.
III. Maedhros after his abdication, lord of Himring.. a lot of point for a lord, right? Fingolfin had 8 as well.
I. Makalaurë, I remember holly leaves were mentioned in Return to Aman (written by @cycas ). Since then they stuck in my head as Maglor's heraldic device. Of course they are golden. Picking themes for Maglor was not hard at all. The red circles are supposed to signify the berries of holly.
II. Maglor after Maedhros' capture. I am not sure if he was crowned the high king of the Noldor or not. He is not listed anywhere as one, it seems to me he managed to escape the kingship. After Maedhros' rescue, the golden circle was reduced in size as to not touch the sides. Maglor used this device in Beleriand and never used the Valinorean one again.
Celegorm, I was a little unsure what to choose, but it have not took me a long time to pick silver pine cone. I could not find any suitable animal-related theme, everything looked wuite ridiculous. I suppose even this look a little ridiculous. I was also unsure if I should go all the way and use the green or pick someting more inline with his siblings. However, Celegorm is odd one in the group really. He is Fëanor's third son and still deserve distinct design, not to be confused with any other. 4 points obviously, his device follows the conventional rules.
Caranthir, oh Caranthir, I always have a problem with him. Caranthir is the one I do not know much about. I do not have headcanons about him, I just do not know. I could not pick anything personal for him and there are not informations about him. We know Celegorm, Amrod and Amras were hunters, Maedhros is the heir, Maglor is golden and musician, who is Caranthir? He is known for his temper, the dark Finwë.
I chose dark moody colours and many many stars. Instead of one central star he has 7 of them. His device is wuite formal. Of course the reason is that I did not know what to do with him. Yet what is the in-story reason? Maybe he used to have different device in Valinor, but began to use this one in Beleriand. He must have some very good reason to slap so many stars in. Maybe because he managed the trade, he used this neutral, formal and very "Fëanor's son" screaming device?
I think that his Valinorean device might have some moths. Moths are suitable dark and moody.
Curufin, it was not hard to design. I wanted his device to be similar to Fëanor's, yet it shall not outshine Maedhros. Technically the device break rules as there are 8 sides touching, but Curufin was never a king. I think the yellow can be ignored as a "point." After all the same motif is featured in Maedhros'. I wanted to reapeat the Maedhros theme, because although he is the oldest, Curufin is most similar to his father.
For Curufin I had chosen gems as symbols. I think diamnods are very fitting for him. I had it on my mind the entire time from the beginning. The question was only where I am going to place them. I think the inspiration by Fëanor is also clear. I am not sure how Curufin felt about it later... he is always Atarinkë.
I have to do Celebrimbor too, but I think he had more than one device.
Amrod and Amras, I went a little wild with them. They are the youngest and therefore can have some fun. As such I chose more creative devices. Red maple for Amrod (because aesthetic, not really for the meaning) and oak for Amras. Oak is in many cultures regarded as the kingly tree. I think the devices are both similar enough and different enough to denote their relationship as twins while maintaining separate identities. Honestly Amros' device and Maglor's kingly Beleriand device are my favorites.
I would like to do Fingolfinwean and Finarfinwean devices as well, but I am not sure I'll have enough creativity in me.

What do you think would’ve happened if instead of the three Cs, Maedhros and Maglor had been the ones to fight Dior?
I mean we know they’re much more skilled and less bloodthirsty and rash than the rest of their brothers. So here’s an AU:
I think we’d see Mae and Mags come out on top, and assuming they’re out of the main hall, the rest of their brothers would probably make it out of Doriath alive. Elured and Elurin make it out with Elwing.
With all seven still around and watching each other’s backs, I imagine Sirion would be much the same, all all them surviving. The addition of Elwing’s brothers and their soldiers turning on them, *might* turn the tables just enough to kill a couple of Fëanorions, probably Celegorm and Curufin who are still bitter about Luthien and Dior. But I feel it’s more likely due to inexperience, Elured and Elurin are killed, not necessarily by the Fëanorions themselves.
The silmaril ends up with Elwing and we get the same situation of Maedhros and Maglor asking for it back and Elwing throwing herself off the cliff. Mae and Mags genuinely do not want to be here but the letters were refused and the Oath calls. Elwing probably knows her brothers were killed by word of mouth or seeing it herself and legged it.
Enter Elrond and Elros who’d have a more interesting (and fun) time of things with 5-7 sons of Fëanor around. Maedhros would back Maglor on caring for the twins though, less consumed by the oath with all his little brothers alive and kicking. And in canon he did go searching for Dior’s sons. Caranthir probably doesn’t really have an opinion on them, Amrod and Amras are willing to follow their brothers’ lead on things (also when are they ever gonna have a chance to see identical twins again. I think they’d get along pretty well.) I don’t see any of them being particularly hateful towards the kids. Celegorm and Curufin seem to be most susceptible to the Oath and giving in to their nastier sides might be a bit more of a problem, but there’s enough brothers to keep an eye on them. And I think they’d warm up eventually, reluctantly though it may be. Curufin was a father first, remember, it’s more natural for him to care than not.
Safe to say by the time Elrond and Elros go to Gil Galad, they’re very well trained in all manner of things 😂
As for the fate of the Fëanorions, they wouldn’t go for the last ditch attempt Mae and Mags did. From the eldest’s perspective, there’s too much to lose. I want to say the stones might be passed off to them, if only to prove a point, and whoever picks them up would no doubt be burned, but there’s no suicides. There’s no endless lamentation.
In reality though there’s probably still a battle by the chest, the oath awakened and clawing with the stones so close. There might be more of a push to bring them back to Valinor to stand trial, but they’re a force to be reckoned with and Eönwë knows they’d rather die than be dragged back. The Fëanorions are let go with the stones, but instead of being tossed away as the Valar expect, the chest is kept and they go on.
With the oath mostly fulfilled much of the weight across their fëa is gone, and Curufin and Celegorm head out to keep an eye on Celebrimbor. Elros might have a temporary tagalong in Maedhros and Caranthir (new kingdom needs someone with experience to get the economy up and running.) Maglor and both Ambarussa keep their distant eye on Elrond.
(Annatar didn’t expect the seven biggest pains in his Master’s back to greet him at Eregion’s gate, two Silmarils in tow, burning him to the core. Celebrimbor doesn’t know whether to be horrified or thankful. Back in Lindon, Elrond - the one who tipped them off - is cackling and Gil Galad is Concerned TM but decides he’s better off not knowing. His cousins are insane on the best of days.)
Alternatively, Elured and Elurin perhaps remembering how reluctant Maedhros and Maglor were, how Maedhros pleaded with their father to just return the stone so this could all *end*, immediately send the silmaril back when the letter comes. Or maybe they’re just cooler headed and see the logic of returning the stone. Things settle. The Valar do eventually get involved. Silmaril two and three are regained then reclaimed by the brothers as mentioned above. They might burn. They might reject the holders. But the oath is fulfilled and that’s all that matters in the end.
