I miss my John Watson. I don't even know which iteration of the broader source I'm from is my specific source, process of elimination has ruled out all slightly more modern adaptations I'm aware of, but I don't feel like my source would be the original novels either.

Perhaps I have to write my own iteration of my source, which would be far easier if I had real exomemories to rely on. Sure, I have my intuition, but I think anyone with any sense of who I was would understand why I prefer something at least mildly more reliable than that. But if I can only rely on myself for source information (because I have yet to even find another person with a similar experience, let alone with compatible senses of what the world was like), I'll have to work with what I have.

I must admit, I hate that I know the response if I ever publish my experiences. Yes, I was in love with my John, and he with me, I'm sure plenty iterations of us were and plenty weren't (and both paths are entirely understandable). But "god" forbid someone write a serious novel about it because... Well, because apparently, the long and storied tradition of fanfiction, something heavily linked with the original Sherlock Holmes novels in the days before the internet, is not "respectable" and clearly, according to some people who wouldn't know realism or respect if it bit them, it's just unimaginable that two social outcasts who have excellent rapport would end up in a forbidden romance at a time when same-sex relations were outright illegal.

After all, the law is always followed, isn't that right? And it's often Americans who make such an unreasonable fuss about it, as if that whole country wasn't founded on people defying authority. Oh, but that's not it, the "problem" is that teenage girls enjoy it so it must be terrible, right? I've found teenage girls can have more sense than grown men sometimes. Though romanticizing "our love could literally get us killed" can go a bit over the top, honestly, it's exhausting trying to evade detection by the law. At least they weren't as suspicious as everyone is today.

@skaldish in my experience (as a non-evangelical christian who attends wheaton, an evangelical christian college), a lot of evangelicals and evangelical theology actually like to dismiss and discount people's instincts and feelings if they are contrary to dogma and justify it with the idea that Reason™️ is superior to Feeling, and if your Emotions contradict Reason™️ it's because they are disordered and need to be Fixed, and typically point to the proverb that "the heart is deceitful above all else." thinking about this as a cult tactic, it really serves to undermine a person's confidence in both their instincts AND their ability to reason, because if either of those don't align with the dogma it can be blamed on their lack of education/knowledge and/or their condition as a sinful human.

of course, from a scientific and theological standpoint, i think instincts are sometimes MORE important than Reason (which has been proven to trick people into becoming nazis and committing genocide) since they're often subconscious reactions to evidence we haven't consciously noticed (e.g. That Guy Is Giving Me Predator Vibes or This Bridge Seems Unsafe) but who am i to say such things!

i will also say that i have NEVER heard anyone say that christians ought to "always feel bliss." i DO agree that doubt is STRONGLY discouraged and questioning things is often taboo; i know people who have either been kicked out of evangelical spaces or publicly shamed for asking questions to understand theological or political positions. there is, however, a strong tendency towards prosperity gospel: the teaching that becoming christian/being a Good Christian will solve all of the problems in your life, and if you HAVE problems it's because you haven't prayed hard enough/aren't a Good Christian. mega churches are particularly notorious for this. my favourite personal experience with it was when i was visiting my older brother's non-denominational evangelical church and during the sermon the pastor said being "born again" cured her depression. there's also a lot of problematic stuff connected to the phenomenon of healing miracles, but i digress.

To my international friends: If you ever wonder why Americans are the way they are, just remember that 1/3rd of all US citizens are in a cult that teaches them to suppress the activity of their prefrontal cortex, particularly when it comes to doubt, critical thinking, and differentiating emotional responses from personal values.

"Colombia’s congress has voted to change a law that allowed minors to get married with parental consent.

The proposal would make the minimum age for marriage 18, and seeks to protect the rights and development opportunities for minors. It still must be signed into law by President Gustavo Petro.

Currently, the country’s civil code allows person as young as 14 years old to get married with parental consent.

The initial proposal to reform the law – presented in 2023 – used the slogan “they’re girls, not wives” and aimed to prevent young girls from being forced to marry, to be subject to different forms of violence and to miss out on education and development opportunities.

“Minors are not sexual objects, they’re girls,” congresswoman Clara López Obregón said in a statement after the proposal was greenlit.

Child marriage remains a widespread practice worldwide and affects around 12 million girls per year, according to the UN’s agency for children, UNICEF.

But there’s been a global drop in child marriages over the past few years, according to the agency’s statistics. “Ten years ago, one in four young women aged 20 to 24 was married as a child. Today that number has fallen to one in five,” UNICEF said.

In Latin America, poverty is the main factor leading to minors getting married, according to UNICEF."

At around 15:30 on Wednesday, 15 November 2023, the Israeli soldiers raided the villa amid shooting and I saw laser lights, so I shouted at them to stop and help me in Hebrew.  The soldiers stopped shooting and one of them ordered me to take off my clothes, except for my boxer, and sit with his head down on knees. I was then handcuffed behind my bank and blindfolded, and they then walked me out to another house.  They removed the blindfold and I saw 20 soldiers in green uniforms bearing the American flag.  Suddenly, they started punching me and continued for a long time, fracturing some of my breastbones.  They then set me to a polygraph asking me why I was here and I answered them in details.  They then asked me if I did any phone calls and I said yes but the polygraph made a sound.  Suddenly, I was beaten and electrically shocked, so I changed my answer to no I just sent 2 text messages to my wife and my boss.  However, they kept beating me and showed me pictures of a tunnel accusing me of coming out of it, kidnapping Israelis and Americans, and being a from the Hamas elite forces spying on the Israeli soldiers and existing in a combat zone.  I denied all of that, but they electrically shocked me 5 times and severely beat me all over my body, causing unbearable pains due to breaking my ribs and injuring my head.  After not being able to bear the pain anymore, I admitted to all the accusations and they took me handcuffed behind my back, blindfolded and wearing only my underwear in a troop carrier, where there was a soldier speaking Arabic fluently and treated me well.  He offered me water and biscuits and loosen the blindfold and the plastic ties. The carrier travelled for some time and then stopped to throw me on the ground.  The soldiers again beat me while I was on the ground, spit on me and peed as well.  They then brought me back to the carrier, which kept going and then stopped again to deploy the Israeli soldiers in other places.  All the way I was subjected to the same abuses.  I was then taken to a destroyed house, where I stayed all night and was forced by the soldiers to sleep on the floor that was covered with broken glass and scattered rubble; during which, the soldiers were stepping on me causing bruises all over my body.
