St Claire Hall Episcopal Girls School

AKA (Kemper Hall)

Kemper Hall was an Episcopal girls school for day and boarding students which recognized 1870 as the year of its official founding. The predecessor to Kemper Hall, the Kenosha Female Seminary, was chartered by the rectors, wardens, and vestry of St. Mathews Episcopal Church in 1855, but the school did not open until 1865. Mrs. H.M. Crawford operated the school as St. Claire's Hall for a short time. The school's founders purchased the home of Senator Charles Durkee and nine surrounding acres of land on the Lake Michigan shore in Kenosha. The Durkee mansion served as the school's central classroom and administration building throughout the school's 105-year history.

Bishop Jackson Kemper was elected trustee of the female seminary in 1866. Following Kemper's death in 1870, his successor, Bishop William Armitage, made an urgent request to the Milwaukee Diocesan Council to redeem and secure the school as a living monument to Bishop Kemper. At that time, the school was renamed Kemper Hall. The Reverend George M. Everhart served as the school's first headmaster from 1870 until 1878. The first graduating class celebrated commencement in the school's new chapel in 1876.

In 1878 a group of women from the Sisters of St. Mary, an Episcopal women's order located in Peekskill, New York, arrived in Kenosha to administer the school and to return it to financial solvency. Among the sisters was Mother Mary Clare who became the first headmistress in 1883 and served in that capacity until 1918. Mother Mary Ambrose, who joined the school in 1911, served as headmistress from 1931 until 1967. Other headmistresses included Sister Sarah, 1878; Sister Edith, 1879-1883; Mother Mary Maude, 1918-1920; Sister Celestine, 1920-1922; Sister Flora Therese, 1922-1931; and Sister Margaret Jane, 1967-1969. Anna J. Morse was influential in shaping the curriculum and academic policies of the school, serving as director of studies from the early 1930s until the early 1960s. A lay Board of Trustees assisted the Sisters of St. Mary with the school's administration and most of the teachers were lay persons. Several wealthy benefactors contributed to the financial support of Kemper Hall including Zalmon G. Simmons, who donated eleven acres of land to the school; Charles W. Nash, president of Nash Motors Company, who donated his home to the school in 1938; and James T. Wilson, banker and Nash Motors Company executive, who donated Wilson House, a mansion across the street from the school.

In 1969 the Sisters of St. Mary turned the school over to a Board of Trustees and the Reverend Raymond Gayle became the second headmaster. In 1970 a co-educational program for students in grade one through grade nine was initiated, accepting boys as day students only. The Reverend Russell Ingersoll succeeded the Reverend Mr. Gayle as headmaster in 1972. Kemper Hall closed in June 1975 due to financial problems. During the school's 105-year history, 1,625 students attended. A peak enrollment of 140 students was reached shortly after World War II.

A few things still bothering me about Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

First, that look Zelda and Hilda gave each other after Sabrina asked about her parents’ deaths. 

Second, When Father Blackwood came to visit the Spellman home before Sabrina’s Dark Baptism and Salem refused to go inside with Sabrina. 

Third, the coincidence that when Ambrose woke after Luke’s “visit” he found Connor’s familiar dead.

3 Great Netflix Series to Watch If You Like Mysteries

Lately I’ve been watching numerous TV shows on Netflix about mysteries like disappearances, murderers and uncommon situations. It might look a bit creepy but if you really like this kind of TV Series that makes you think and need desperately to know what happens in the end, here’s my Top 3 recommendations:

1. The Sinner

One thing I LOVE about The Sinner is that every season so far is a different story with no connection with the previous one (just like Black Mirror) but the only character that stays is the detective Harry Ambrose. In both seasons, we can see he has a gift and a good instinct about cases that would be forgotten instead of being properly investigated.

Cora

The “Cora” season talks about this women that is spending the weekend with her son and husband in the lake, and out of nowhere in a impulse after seeing a couple kissing and listening to music, she stabbed the guy a lot of times in front of everybody. After this, she totally blacked out and she lost her memory about committing the crime and the reason why she did it. Detective Umbrose takes care of the case and starts investigating the mysterious causes of Cora’s actions by trying to get her memory back.

Julian

In the “Julian” season, Ambrose needs to return to his hometown and this time, except facing the Julian case itself, he has to relive the incident of his childhood that made him leave his town in the first place. This season was very interesting for me because I could understand the reasons why he normally get so deep in the cases and more about his personality.

Anyway, getting back to the plot, Ambrose take the pieces together and starts to investigate the case of a 13 years old boy who grown in a utopian community in the middle of the forest called Mosswood Grove, and that confessed to poison his parents in their trip to Niagara Falls.

2. Dark

Dark it’s a German TV show released in 2017 and it is situated in the city of Winden - fictional city in Germany - showing the relations between 4 families: the Kahnwald, the Nielsen, the Doppler and the Tiedemann. Everything seemed to start in 2019 when a couple of children disappear from Winden realizing some family secrets and realizing a mystery that changes everything.

All of this is connected with a cave which is connected with the city’s nuclear power plant, which turns very important soon. My favorite part -but also the most complicated- is that there are 3 important years in the time-line (1953, 1986 and 2019) where we can understand better the beginning of these families and see the younger versions of all the characters. It’s totally worth it to exercise the brain like this, trust me.

3. Mindhunter

Think about a very well directed TV show. That’s Mindhunter. Not only the plot will make your heart beat faster but also the way they can record it in a way that you can feel you are inside the show, with them, interviewing serial killers. That’s the story by the way! The agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench from FBI get together with the psychiatrist Wendy Carr in a operation for the FBI’s Behavioral Science, interviewing serial killers to build a behavior cause or by just understanding how each of them think to maybe solve future cases. Most of the characters (agents and serial killers) are real like David Berkowitz, John Wayne Gacy, Charles Manson, Richard Speck, and Edmund Kemper.

Heyo, it’s me again! Yes with another AU! (I need to stop...) I’m still working on my Greater Beings AU and a one-shot I’m debating on doing, but my school is putting on Hello Dolly and this idea came to me. I want to do more of these, but I don’t know which scenes to do more of. I will definitely be taking suggestions if anyone has a preference!

Logan sighed and rubbed his eyes, moving his glasses as he did so. The sound of his nephew sobbing next to him was preventing him from working. He stood up, turning to look at Patton.

“How can I be expected to work with all that bellowing in my ears?” He asked, trying to keep his voice calm.

“I can’t help it, Uncle! I love Remus King!” Patton cried, tugging at his light blue dress.

“And I say you’re too young to be in love with anybody!” Logan said, groaning. He had fallen in love way too early in life. While he had loved his wife in the ways required of him, the two never truly connected. Logan was gay.  

His wife had died a decade ago, and Logan was finally ready to try again at love. That did not mean Patton was ready though. Logan did not want his nephew to jump into love as he had.

“I’m not too young! I’m seventeen, and in another year, I’ll be an old bachelor!” Patton stomped his foot, and Logan tried not to crumble under Patton’s puppy-dog eyes.

“Well, I forbid it! And stop crying near the store windows!”

“I can’t help it! I’m unhappy!” He announced.  

“Then by the stars, you’ll go and weep for a while in New York! Now go upstairs and start packing your trunk, and don’t get any tears on the lock! It was just oiled!” Logan called after Patton as the young man rushed upstairs, still crying. Logan sighed and sat back down at his desk. He hated being harsh on Patton, but he followed his heart too much. Remus King was a painter and brash man. Logan was afraid he would hurt Patton. Intentionally or unintentionally. He turned his mind to New York, where he and Patton were going soon to meet Logan’s fiancé: a hat maker named Roman.

“Speaking of being away….” Logan muttered, stomping his foot three times, “Remy! Virgil!” A muttering came from the basement, and a few seconds later, the trapdoor to the basement opened and two men emerged. Both wore brown pants and a white shirt and apron. Remy’s apron was black while Virgil’s was a pale purple. Remy was the taller and older one, he was also the more experienced one, having worked with Logan longer. They were both hard workers, usually. Virgil went into anxiety attacks when he did something wrong or Logan raised his voice too much. Remy worked late and ended up falling asleep during the day. Logan tried to tell him to leave when his shift was over, but the man wouldn’t let himself be convinced.

“You stamped, Mr. Vattel?” Remy asked, voice gravelly as if he had just woken up. His sunglasses were slightly askew but still hid his eyes. Logan suppressed a sigh.

“I did. I have news for you both. As you know, I am going to New York this afternoon to march in the Nineteenth Street Association Parade. What I haven’t told you is when I come back, you’re going to have a paramour.” Virgil’s green eyes grew wide.

“I-I’m too young Mr. Vattel!” He stuttered. Logan groaned.

“Not yours, Virgil, mine! I mean,” he turned to Remy, “I’m getting married again. And in honor of that occasion, I’ve decided to promote you, Remy, to chief clerk.” Remy’s eyebrow raised.

“And what am I now…?” He asked, slightly sarcastic.

“You’re an exhausted fool, that’s what you are. And I’m promoting you from exhausted fool to chief clerk. Any more questions?” Logan stood up and held his hands behind his back. Remy yawned slightly.

“Yeah, actually.”

“What?”

“Does the chief clerk get one evening off a week?” Remy asked. Logan paused and took a deep breath.

“You already have that, Remy. More than one, in fact. You refuse to take them. So no, you’re not getting an extra one. Now, get back to work, your break was over a while ago. And don’t forget to put the lid on the sheep dip.” The two went to the back of the store to work, Remy saluting Logan as he left. Logan ran his hand through his hair and decided to get some fresh air. He walked outside of his store and stared at the small town around him. A band marched by, playing a familiar tune.  

“Three cheers for femininity! Rah! Rah! Rah! – Rah! Rah! Rah! FEM-ITY. / And in the winter…” They sang. Logan snorted at the misspelling of femininity and watched as the band continued on. Clapping from next to him caught his attention and he turned to see Mr. Dolan Lyre. The man he had hired to find Logan a husband.  

“Amusing, aren’t they? Though I do not like the hidden message of women being more maids than wives…. Anyway, a thousand congratulations!” Mr. Lyre greeted. He wore a yellow button-up blouse with a black, long skirt and a black hat that had black lace that covered half of his face. A golden necklace with a snake charm hung around his neck. Logan’s stomach did a summersault but he pushed it off.

“What?” He asked, bringing his mind back to Mr. Lyre’s mismatched eyes. One hazel and one green.  

“I said congratulations, Mr. Vattel! All New York is buzzing with the news that you’ve practically proposed to Roman Monarch. The streets are lined with eligible young men prostrate with grief. All my congratulations and sympathy-.”

“Sympathy?” Logan asked, fully turning to Mr. Lyre.

“Did I say that? A slip of the tongue, that’s all. No, I’m delighted with the happy news, after all, he wasn’t easy to unload – by that I mean you know what people said. Although I for one never believed the rumors, no, I didn’t.” He hummed, placing his hand on Logan’s arm and guiding them to sitting on the steps that led to Logan’s store.  

“Rumors? What… rumors?”

“Oh, nothing to be upset about, Mr. Vattel. I mean according to all known facts, his first husband passed on quite naturally. It’s just that he went so sudden…. A few spoons of chowder he made special for him and well…. But it could happen to anyone. No, there’s no truth in it. Though, just one word of advice, Mr. Vattel: eat out!” Mr. Lyre chuckled at his joke. Logan raised an eyebrow.

“Now hold on, Mr. Lyre, you mean to say that Mr. Monarch-?”

“I mean to say nothing, Mr. Vattel. Just friendly advice. Keep away from the chowder. Oh! By the way, he’s just ordered his wedding gown, beautiful; you should see it – black! Being a hat designer you’d think he had more taste.” Mr. Lyre stood up and brushed off his skirt, “Well, as I said before, rest in… I mean, may guardian angels watch over you both. Particularly at dinner.” Mr. Lyre muttered, a hint of resentment in his eyes. He started to walk away, but Logan scrambled to his feet and grabbed Mr. Lyre’s arm.

“Look here, Mr. Lyre. You introduced me to Mr. Monarch, and rumors or not I intend calling on him this afternoon as arranged!” Mr. Lyre pulled himself out of Logan’s grip. He seemed to stiffen slightly, but the lace was covering the part of his face that was toward Logan, preventing him from seeing Mr. Lyre’s eyes.

“Very well, Mr. Vattel, then there’s nothing more for me to do but go back to New York, after I finish my other errands of course, and tell the other man, the heir, not to wait….” Logan froze and walked in front of Mr. Lyre, stopping him.

“What did you say?”

“Nothing. Well, a word. Heir.”

“His name?”

“His name? Um… Sanders? Yes, that’s it. Wade Sanders.”

“…A lovely name.” Logan hummed. While he was rich, he could always use a bit more. Especially to find Patton a good school and a proper match. Patton would need the money as well as a second parent.

“Picture, if you will, hair as shiny as a newly minted penny… eyes as big as round silver dollars… skin as soft and mossy as an old greenback. Age 36; weight, a hundred and eighty-six -. Now, I could arrange for you to meet this Thomas this very afternoon.” Mr. Lyre said with a slight smile.

“I don’t have the time, Mr. Lyre. I have to bring my nephew Patton to New York this afternoon until he forgets a certain Remus King!” Logan sighed, remembering his previous plans for the day.  

“I could do that with you, Mr. Vattel.” Mr. Lyre said, moving a bit closer to Logan, “I know just how to handle such things.” Logan felt himself gulp.

“I’m marching in the Nineteenth Street Association Parade after.”

“Well, what an amazing coincidence. Mr. Sanders has been chosen to ride the float for the parade. His mother was a Cash you know.” He spoke that last part quietly. Like he was sharing a secret. Logan bit his lip then nodded.

“Alright, Mr. Lyre. I’ll meet Mr. Sanders at the parade, but I still intend on paying another meeting with Mr. Monarch first.” Logan said, voice unwavering. Mr. Lyre pulled back abruptly and turned to Logan’s store and home.  

“Oh dear, what races you make me run!” He sighed, “Very well, Mr. Vattel! I’ll meet you on that bench in front of Mr. Monarch’s hat shop at two-thirty as usual.” The two walked into the shop together.

“One more thing, Mr. Lyre. Suppose I decide against Mr. Monarch and I don’t like Mr. Sanders either?” Logan asked quietly. He didn’t know what pushed him to ask, but something had forced it out of him. Mr. Lyre paused from grabbing Logan’s hat and coat from the coat rack.

“Well, I happen to have one more name on my list, Mr. Vattel. A name I know as well as my own, but let’s not go into that now.” He handed Logan his hat and helped him into his coat, “It’ll come up by itself all in good time. Don’t you worry about it!” Mr. Lyre patted Logan on the back and started to push him out of the store, “Oh! But wait until you see Wade, Logan! A vision! A dream!” Logan chuckled.  

“All right, all right. I’ll leave it up to you. I’m trusting you, Dolan.” He smiled. Mr. Lyre smiled softly back.  

“You can, Logan. Patton will forget about Mr. King and you’ll find your husband all before the end of the day.” He announced. Logan tipped his hat and walked out of the store. He hadn’t even gotten a few feet when he heard Mr. Lyre start to sing.

“Yes, it takes a man… to bring you the sweet things in life.”

Wow remember how Ambrose never actually figured out who killed Connor Kemper? Like, it was a big thing up until Mr & Mrs Kemper committed suicide, so Ambrose never got Connor’s box of occult stuff, and the whole mystery was dropped after that. Were we supposed to assume that Luke or Blackwood killed him? Or that witch hunters did get to him after all?

so because obvi luke is incredibly suspicious , sometimes i will play connor as not having known luke prior to his murder & what he tells ambrose is lies. other times he WILL know and have dated luke for a while and because he’s still super fuckn suspicious , even when connor does know luke i’ll often suggest that luke wasn’t upfront with connor , ranging from just using him for some sort of project OR actually being involved in connor’s killing! ( in that case , maybe under the direction or manipulation of faustus blackwood , bc he is the MOST suspicious bitch ) 

NOW , if you happen to play luke or if it’s simply better for the plot or if canon explains luke’s general shadiness a lil more , this can totally change. 

but for connor’s relationship w/ luke usually won’t be anything sweet & simple , going off the vibe that canon gives me _____ 

the way luke talks about connor’s killing is just off yanno , even if they didn’t date long he seems anxious to avoid talking about connor 

zilla nameless iguana familiar is p much the same as we see him , then luke shows up , sleeps with ambrose , disappears the next morning & sure enough connor’s familiar has completely withered ( after ambrose suggest’s he will try to communicate with the familiar and try to find out what happened to connor ) 

then of course the news the kempers are dead happens when luke is with ambrose and w/e could be nO significance but i don’t trust dis bitch && , sidenote not actually to do with luke but , mrs. kemper was going to bring connor’s witchy things to ambrose JUST before she and mr. kemper die. something just ... continually stands in the way of finding out more about what happened to connor :eyes: 

anyway nuff of my conspiracy theories ( i have like six more btw that probably will one day get posts on this hell blog ) onto connor’s actual feelings about luke when he DOES know/date him. 

sO , when connor meets luke , it’s his first time meeting a witch , someone LIKE HIM ! it’s huge and connor very quickly feels a connection with him , trusts him , becomes quite smitten with him. yeh at first connor is a little cautious but luke is fun and charismatic and charming and WOW connor would be swept off his feet to at long last find someone like him , he’s captivated. and once he gets over his inital reluctance to show his magical side , he's eager to impress luke! the only witch he knows , he’d be over the moon when luke ( as with any witch he first meets ) compliments his magic or abilities.

BASICS.

powers: spell casting , telekinesis , confinement , conjuring , astral projection , warding , divination , mediumship , summoning ( these all vary a lot of course with regards to his abilities in then ) i.e. connor is more adept at telekinesis , divination & spell casting. not so strong in conjuring , mediumship/mind-control , more complex spells.

personality: Connor is a deeply introverted boy , he doesn’t like to initiate interactions , he is quite the shut-in , though he does love nature and being around nature. However when he connects well with someone he can be talkative and very goofy , until then he is very cautious , quiet and aloof. He is very curious and a huge bookworm. He is quite neat/rigid , sort of dreamy / out of touch.

BIO.

Jane and Michael Kemper adopted Connor before he had even turned two , prior to that he’d been with a foster family. The two had a long and difficult journey from their heartbreaking attempts to conceive to the trying adoption process , when they at last could bring Connor home .. It was a dream come true. They adored him , right away. The Kempers were always very open as Connor grew older , making it no secret that he was adopted but showing it made no difference , Connor was their son.

                Their idyllic little family was shaken for one of the Kempers not so long after Connor’s adoption. When Michael recognized something like a bruise on Connor’s right inner bicep , what Jane had called “Just a birthmark”. The same night he discovered the mark , while his wife slept , Michael took a pin to Connor’s room , lifted the sleeping boy’s duvet and gently took his arm. The pin’s sharp point was held just above the mark for a long , agonizing moment. Michael's heart racing , he remembers his own father performing tests like this.. It wasn’t his practice anymore but here he was. He remembered what happened to those who bore a bloodless mark. Glancing to the snoozing boy’s face , Michael gently lowers his arm , tucks his son back in and goes to bed. ‘Just a birthmark’ he tells himself.

They went back to being a warm and happy family after that and Michael put his anxieties to the back of his mind. 

As Connor grew , he did so in a quite a regular environment and he was a contented kid , he’d never been outgoing but he was happy reading or hanging out with his parents. He’d camp or fish or do some DIY work with his dad , play cards or tennis with his mother. & spent a whole lot of time with himself at home or in nature. No matter what he always had a certain awareness of feeling utterly different , other. Occasionally it upset him but mostly he got along with it. Connor got several clues about his unique abilities , they mystified him. From hushed whispers in his head in graveyards , to books that slotted into his hand as he reached for them , from the surge of power that swelled in him in turmoil & thinks that stopped just before they could hit him. He couldn’t define them or control them. For most of his education , Connor was home-schooled by his mother , before he was sent to Baxter High in his late teens. He was very isolated at school , never making friends. Partly due to that innate , persistent sense of alienation & partly because he simply didn’t enjoy socializing much.

Connor began to find the lead of who he truly is when he was thought about the greendale witch trials by Ms. Wardwell. After finding her privately ( while she tried to enjoy a movie ) and quizzing Wardwell endlessly , she offers to let Connor borrow some of his books. Here is where he begins to understand what he is , taking to experimenting in his room or in the woods , Connor confirms what he is but his control and abilities are weak or volatile. It’s not until after a brush with Baxter Raven bullies that Connor’s familiar comes to him. A familiar who becomes known to him mostly by the nickname Zilla. Zilla quickly becomes Connor’s biggest magical influence and guide and his best friend , the two bound as witch and familiar.

(( From here things get p thread dependant , bc we move on to Connor’s murder. Post death connor WON’T remember his killer , it leaves things more open for if the show ACTUALLY EXPANDS ON THAT SHIT. however for threads there’s a whole bunch of options to play out should anyone interacting with connor want to. I got my conspiracy theories okay and Luke , Father Blackwood , obviously hunters are all in there. & his killer and the events leading up to his murder can change somewhat depending on threads. Sometimes he’ll know Luke , sometimes he won’t have ever met him , stuff like that. ))

Disclaimer: absolutely none of these make literally any sense and have lots of plot holes but consider this ---- YEET.

v.01. living dead boy ! ( resurrected )

connor is resurrected ( through the cain pit would be my default but it’s adaptable ) by one or more of the spellmans ( if it is non specific in the thread it’s likely ambrose is the one to have resurrected him bc lbr , ambrose is the only witch who actually seemed curious + an intrest in necromancy ) to find out information on his death and who it was who killed him. Obviously the Cain pit comes with a price this can either mean connor’s revival is only temporary to get info OR well there’s a few ideas i have , i.e connor’s parents’ deaths “balance the scales” ( p.s i kNOW they are adopted but who tf knows the ins and outs of the cain pit’s rules and let’s pretend it’s magic can work like that ) or there is the fact his birth parents could still be in play and unknown to him , two witches ( his birth parents ) die and balance the scales.

v.02. slain son ! ( ghost )

connor is a ghost ( my default is him haunting the spellman home but highly adaptable ). like quinton , he is bound to where he is ( YEH i know he didn’t die @ the spellman house but yolo ) , can choose when to make himself visible , he is more or less a physical being and can touch and move and speak  like quinton & the harrowing victims.

pre-show or divergent , connor lives in the small town of greendale with his parents and familiar , practicing his magic in secret

connor’s adoptive father ( though aware connor is a witch himself ) raises his son as a hunter to suppress his true nature , in this verse connor is obviously much less in touch with his magic and it remains a mystery to him
