Things Biden and the Democrats did, this week #19
May 17-24 2024
President Biden wiped out the student loan debt of 160,000 more Americans. This debt cancellation of 7.7 billion dollars brings the total student loan debt relieved by the Biden Administration to $167 billion. The Administration has canceled student loan debt for 4.75 million Americans so far. The 160,000 borrowers forgiven this week owned an average of $35,000 each and are now debt free. The Administration announced plans last month to bring debt forgiveness to 30 million Americans with student loans coming this fall.
The Department of Justice announced it is suing Ticketmaster for being a monopoly. DoJ is suing Ticketmaster and its parent company Live Nation for monopolistic practices. Ticketmaster controls 70% of the live show ticket market leading to skyrocketing prices, hidden fees and last minute cancellation. The Justice Department is seeking to break up Live Nation and help bring competition back into the market. This is one of a number of monopoly law suits brought by the Biden administration against Apple in March and Amazon in September 2023.
The EPA announced $225 million in new funding to improve drinking and wastewater for tribal communities. The money will go to tribes in the mainland US as well as Alaska Native Villages. It'll help with testing for forever chemicals, and replacing of lead pipes as well as sustainability projects.
The EPA announced $300 million in grants to clean up former industrial sites. Known as "Brownfield" sites these former industrial sites are to be cleaned and redeveloped into community assets. The money will fund 200 projects across 178 communities. One such project will transform a former oil station in Philadelphia’s Kingsessing neighborhood, currently polluted with lead and other toxins into a waterfront bike trail.
The Department of Agriculture announced a historic expansion of its program to feed low income kids over the summer holidays. Since the 1960s the SUN Meals have served in person meals at schools and community centers during the summer holidays to low income children. This Year the Biden administration is rolling out SUN Bucks, a $120 per child grocery benefit. This benefit has been rejected by many Republican governors but in the states that will take part 21 million kids will benefit. Last year the Biden administration introduced SUN Meals To-Go, offering pick-up and delivery options expanding SUN's reach into rural communities. These expansions are part of the Biden administration's plan to end hunger and reduce diet-related disease by 2030.
Vice-President Harris builds on her work in Africa to announce a plan to give 80% of Africa internet access by 2030, up from just 40% today. This push builds off efforts Harris has spearheaded since her trip to Africa in 2023, including $7 billion in climate adaptation, resilience, and mitigation, and $1 billion to empower women. The public-private partnership between the African Development Bank Group and Mastercard plans to bring internet access to 3 million farmers in Kenya, Tanzania, and Nigeria, before expanding to Uganda, Ethiopia, and Ghana, and then the rest of the continent, bring internet to 100 million people and businesses over the next 10 years. This is together with the work of Partnership for Digital Access in Africa which is hoping to bring internet access to 80% of Africans by 2030, up from 40% now, and just 30% of women on the continent. The Vice-President also announced $1 billion for the Women in the Digital Economy Fund to assure women in Africa have meaningful access to the internet and its economic opportunities.
The Senate approved Seth Aframe to be a Judge on the US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, it also approved Krissa Lanham, and Angela Martinez to district Judgeships in Arizona, as well as Dena Coggins to a district court seat in California. Bring the total number of judges appointed by President Biden to 201. Biden's Judges have been historically diverse. 64% of them are women and 62% of them are people of color. President Biden has appointed more black women to federal judgeships, more Hispanic judges and more Asian American judges and more LGBT judges than any other President, including Obama's full 8 years in office. President Biden has also focused on backgrounds appointing a record breaking number of former public defenders to judgeships, as well as labor and civil rights lawyers.

Please Help A Mostly Queer/Disabled Homeless Family Pay Off Their Debt?
PAYPAL | AMAZON WISHLIST | KOFI | GOFUNDME
VENMO: @penaltywaltz | CASHAPP: $afteriwake23 | ZELLE: DM me for email address
03/05/24
So good news! We're in a 30-day shelter with a caseworker and help from the City of Encinitas Homeless Support Program to get housing with 30 days. It's a brand new shelter and we're all together in a room with the cats, and they're really eager to help get us out of our homeless situation.
Right now, we have about $1000 in money we can save up each month. If we can pay off the debts that my mom owes that she's in credit consolidation for, that frees up another $187 each month. If I can pay off my installment loan, which is four payments totaling $475, that frees up another $124 a month. I think my mom just paid off a credit card debt, but we have $100 debt that I think has gone to collections, $500 we need to pay on a card before that one goes to collections, and $300 for my PayPal 4 in 4 payments. We also have two payday loans I'd like to pay off before they're due at $600.
So if I can cover all that debt this month, we'll have well over $1,500 to put towards a rental payment in May, if we can get help with a security deposit and first month's rent through housing programs. We might be able to afford a two bedroom apartment in Fallbrook with that much. We'd need to come up with money to move our stuff out of storage as well, but a friend of mine has covered the big units until April 1st and may cover them an extra month if needed.
Any help would be amazing. We are so close to getting out of hotels/our car and into something stable. I'm setting the goal at $3000 for now because I don't have wifi at the shelter and can't check exactly how much my mom owes for her debt consolidation still.
But any extra will help with gas to get to places where we can get things we need (birth certificates, Lena's social security card with her dead name, Lena's psych eval, my mom's dental stuff, and doctor/therapy appointments) and food in case the snafu with my food stamps isn't fixed right away (we get three meals here, which is fine for me and Lena, but my mom is basically still on a soft food/liquid diet and they're still needing to get stuff for her and the gentleman here who has no teeth).
Please help if you can, and please reblog as well! We would all greatly appreciate it.
$2500/$5000
EDIT: We found out today that Lena is currently uninsured. The meds she was prescribed for her mood disorder are $1,500 out of pocket. She needs the medication badly. Please help?

How can you thrive in the future? How can you thrive now?
Roni Sagi is a dog dancer who turned her love of dogs and dancing into a business. She has performed on America's Got Talent with her dog, Rhythm. Emily Odio-Sutton built a print-on-demand business on Etsy that generates 54,000 dollars monthly and paid off her student loan debt and financed family vacations. People are making money off selling food themed slime. People are quitting their 9-5 jobs and making money from blogging their every day lives! Making videos showing how they cook for their kids or organizing their fridge!!! bc they want to!! bc it makes them happy !! One time I bought a beautiful piece of artwork from a girl who makes money by drawing what she thinks your birth chart manifests as! These are not celebrities that are doing this. They are ordinary people that tune into their creativity and are getting ahead of the game. Without a doubt, they will be the ones that will thrive in pluto in aquarius!
Pluto is all about change and disruption, and we’re already seeing it happen (think AI, social unrest, big shifts in technology, shifts in societal norms). The people who are thriving right now are those using their creativity to get ahead. They aren’t waiting for permission or sticking to the usual path! They're creating their own. There's a future out there where that will be the norm and it won’t seem as outlandish when someone says that’s what they do for a living!
That doesn't mean traditional jobs will cease to exist but they definitely are going to change. My friend is a teacher and the kids tell her all the time that they want to be streamers or vlog in the future and parents will roll their eyes. But why not? There are people doing those things right now making millions and millions of dollars. It's not as farfetched as we think. And my friend is a teacher but she has thousands of followers on ig from posting reels on her favorite things: traveling and teaching.
And it’s not just about being talented!! it’s about spotting opportunities and turning your passions into something new. everyday people are finding ways to make their creativity work for them. The point is it doesn’t have to be through social media or you thinking you have to make new accounts its about what YOU like to do and what in your chart can support you in that. It has to be to your liking!
As Pluto moves into Aquarius, it’s clear that the future will belong to those who think outside the box and are ready to try new things. Aquarius energy is all about innovation and pushing boundaries. If you tap into your creativity now, you’ll be ahead of the curve and set yourself up to thrive in this rapidly changing world.
This doesn't mean you have to go on amazon rn and buy a whole bunch of painting supplies (I mean if you're super excited to do that go ahead) but tbh we can just start with reflecting on our lives. Thinking about our old hobbies or interests that we might have let go because we said there was no time or we deemed it too "childish") someone rn is doing their FAVORITE thing in the world and making a living off of it!
A personal example of mine: I am the first in my immediate family to go to college and get a degree. And because of that I felt the pressure of getting my masters (both as a measure of my success and to please my family) and I was in my masters program feeling overworked from working full time and having classes and just overall unhappy. I realized that I was just trying to collect degrees in a world where that doesn't guarantee a boost in pay or success anymore (at least in my job it doesn't). I made the choice to drop from my masters program and Im still at my current job! But I feel less stressed and can dedicate more time to thinks I actually like to do like writing, reading, painting, watching my shows! I’m not doing those things for money im doing them because 1) they make me happy and 2) I know they can bring all kinds of opportunities from nurturing my creativity to connecting with people. What are some things you miss doing? What are some hobbies that bring you joy?

In October, tens of millions of borrowers will be required to pay their monthly federal student loan bills for the first time since March 2020, the Department of Education clarified Monday.
The pandemic-related pause on both payments and interest accumulation has been set to end later this summer, though the exact date payments would be due was a little fuzzy.
The Biden administration had previously said that the pause would end either 60 days after June 30 or 60 days after the Supreme Court rules on the separate student loan forgiveness program – whichever comes first.
A law passed in early June to address the debt ceiling officially prevented the pandemic-related pause from being extended again. The repayment date has been extended a total of eight times under both the Biden and Trump administrations.
“Student loan interest will resume starting on September 1, 2023, and payments will be due starting in October. We will notify borrowers well before payments restart,” the Department of Education said in a statement sent to CNN Monday.
The update was first reported by Politico.
Borrowers typically receive their bill statements from their loan servicer a few weeks before they are due. Not every borrower’s bill is due at the same time of the month.
The Department of Education has said that it will be in direct communication with borrowers and ramp up its communication with student loan servicers before repayment resumes.
Student loan experts recommend that borrowers reach out to their student loan servicer with any questions about their loans as soon as possible, especially if they are interested in enrolling in an income-driven repayment plan. Those plans, which set payments based on income and family size, can lower monthly payments but require borrowers to submit some paperwork.
Federal student loan borrowers can check the Federal Student Aid website for updates on resuming payments.
SOME BORROWERS COULD BE AT RISK OF DEFAULT
Some borrowers may struggle to resume paying their monthly student loan bills.
More student loan borrowers are currently behind on other kinds of bills than they were before the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a recent study by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
The report also said that about 1 in 5 student loan borrowers have risk factors that suggest they could struggle when scheduled payments resume, like being delinquent on student loan payments before the pandemic or having multiple student loan servicers.
When payments restart, many people might be confused about how much they owe, when to pay and how. Millions of borrowers will have a different servicer handling their student loans since the last time they made a payment.
Originally, the pause on federal student loan payments was put in place to help borrowers struggling financially due to the pandemic.
From a jobs perspective, the economy has largely recovered from the pandemic-related disruptions. In May, 3.7 million more people were working than in February 2020.
But there are some soft spots. Major layoffs have recently been announced at big companies like Disney and Amazon. Earlier this year, a regional banking crisis was set off by the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank, the largest bank to fail since the 2008 financial crisis. And inflation remains high but is cooling after reaching a 40-year peak last year.
STUDENT LOAN FORGIVENESS STILL ON THE TABLE
Meanwhile, all eyes are on the Supreme Court as borrowers wait to see if the Biden administration will be allowed to move forward with its student loan forgiveness program. A decision is expected in late June or early July.
Under the proposal, individual borrowers who made less than $125,000 in either 2020 or 2021 and married couples or heads of households who made less than $250,000 a year could see up to $10,000 of their federal student loan debt forgiven.
If a qualifying borrower also received a federal Pell grant while enrolled in college, the individual is eligible for up to $20,000 of debt forgiveness.
But several lawsuits argue that the Biden administration is abusing its power and using the pandemic as a pretext for fulfilling the president’s campaign pledge to cancel student debt.
No debt has been canceled yet. But if the Supreme Court allows the program to take effect, it’s possible the government moves quickly to forgive the debts of 16 million borrowers who the administration already approved for relief.
If the Justices strike down Biden’s student loan forgiveness program, it could be possible for the administration to make some modifications to the policy and try again – though that process could take months.

TOP NEWS & ARTICLES
Etsy has yet again changed how processing times work for some countries, and this time, they’ve opted everyone into working on every national holiday. [post by me on LinkedIn, with screenshots] Many people are happy they can officially opt out of working on some days, but not so happy Etsy opted them in. The next day, Etsy clarified that this is currently only available for Canada and the US, and is only for national holidays, not regional or provincial ones.
The old Etsy listing form disappeared as promised on June 25, and the new one is still a mess [post by me on LinkedIn]. Etsy claims to have fixed numerous issues with the new listing form, including manual translations, bulk editing, and sharing to Pattern. No word on the numerous pricing issues that have affected non-US sellers in particular through the domestic pricing tool, and that have apparently changed both variations and shipping prices for US sellers. The latest new listing form fix is the inability to save drafts, although it doesn’t seem to be working for everyone.
USPS seems to have reused its tracking numbers early recently, with widespread reports of labels created June 18 and later showing as already being delivered in April or May. I’ve updated that linked Patreon post with info on how to get Etsy to correct their own records, so that seller protection and Star Seller status are not affected.
ETSY NEWS
Wondering if your images meet Etsy’s minimum size requirements? I did a video for you [on Patreon] so you can easily check for yourself.
Etsy is still pushing shop loans through YouLend, “up to two times your monthly revenue.” Thanks to Michele from Artologica for the screenshot of the dashboard notification, and some of what you see once you click it:
Tumblr media
and a link to the Etsy program at YouLend. Please read the terms carefully, as they get repaid through your future sales. It appears to be US-sellers only.
There’s a new “Made for You” page with a lot of links to various features for buyers, but I don’t see it linked anywhere on the desktop version of the site. I also don’t really see the point, but maybe we’ll have to wait and see how they use it.
Apologies for missing this one, but sellers in Turkey must now use “ShipEntegra” to mail orders, unless they already use another service. In effect, this means all new shops in Turkey are required to sign up and only ship orders through ShipEntegra, as of June 3.
Apparently the “Buy More and Save” badge Etsy applied to some listings that already had multiple quantity discounts is just a test [item 2] per Etsy.
ECOMMERCE NEWS (minus social media)
General
Facebook appears to be removing links to EcommerceBytes on its platforms.
Amazon
Amazon's "Subscribe & Save" feature will be available for products that are not Fulfilled By Amazon items, as of June 27.
Amazon's Prime Day 2024 is July 16-17th.
“Ad Relevance” is Amazon’s proposed solution to the end of ad cookies; it has AI at its core.
North American Amazon orders will stop using plastic air pillows by the end of the year.
Amazon is facing another lawsuit on copying successful sellers’ products and manipulating the Buy Box, this time in the UK.
eBay
As of July 1, eBay will be charging most of its sellers more for Express Payouts: $2 each time instead of 1.5% of the total.
eBay is now charging buyers of luxury wallets and handbags an optional $40 for authentication, for items between $200-$499.99. Items $500 and up are still authenticated for free.
The eBay Summer 2024 Seller Update included new tools and renamed programs, but some of them had already been announced.
If you are using the eBay seller app, watch for draft listings disappearing.
Shopify
Businesses selling through Shopify can now apply to sell on Target Plus, a third-party marketplace that currently has around 1200 sellers.
Shopify now has a chatbot for site owners, called Sidekick, but it is currently only available to English stores in North America.
Walmart
Walmart+ Week started June 17th, almost a month before Amazon’s Prime Day.
All Other Marketplaces
Just a few months after ending selling fees, Mercari is laying off a substantial portion of its US-based workers. It’s also still looking for new sellers, offering credits that can be spent on the site for opening a new shop and inviting friends.
Payment Processing
Apple Pay Later is being phased out in favour of “Affirm”, a third-party Buy Now Pay Later app that will be available in more countries than Apple’s own product.
Shipping
USPS hopes to change its non-standard package surcharges by region, charging more when the package travels further.

This is a very revealing moment for how the modern AI community is thinking:
The question now is whether passing the Turing test even matters anymore. “It’s totally unclear whether this is a meaningful milestone or not,” said Mustafa Suleyman, a founder of DeepMind, now a division of Google, and the founder of Inflection.Ai, a startup making personal AI assistants. “It doesn’t tell us anything about what the system can do or understand, anything about whether it has established complex inner monologues or can engage in planning over abstract time horizons, which is key to human intelligence.”
This is both fair criticism of the Turing Test, and nothing new. Turing himself didn't think his experiment was a good judge of intelligence, either. Where is Suleyman going with this?
Suleyman argues that there’s a misplaced focus in the tech industry on the distant possibility of achieving Artificial General Intelligence, or AGI: algorithms with cognitive abilities that match or exceed humans’. Instead, he said the more achievable and meaningful short-term goal is what he calls Artificial Capable Intelligence, or ACI: programs that can set goals and achieve complex tasks with minimal human intervention.
To measure whether a machine has [become an] ACI, he describes a “modern Turing test” — a new north star for researchers — in which you give an AI $100,000 and see if it can turn the seed investment into $1 million. To do so, the bot must research an e-commerce business opportunity, generate blueprints for a product, find a manufacturer on a site like Alibaba and then sell the item (complete with a written listing description) on Amazon or Walmart.com.
This major C-suiter in the field of AI just said that the best test of a being's intelligence is exploiting business opportunities.
Obviously the final goal for all of the present-day investment into AI is to generate a financial return. It's no surprise that businesses would salivate over AI that can independently come up with, market, and sell new products all on their own.
But think about what that intelligence test says about the mindset of the big-wigs in AI right now! If the true test of human-like intelligence is being able to turn a 10x profit, what does that say about humans who don't (or can't) make tons of money? If your parents came to you one day and said: "we honestly think you're sub-human because you don't make enough money for how much money went into raising you", that would be prestige-drama-villain behavior.
Rich people think that they are smarter and better than everyone else. It's no surprise that, on a philosophical level, investment-capitalist tech bros will idolize (and seek to re-create) technological investment-capitalism.
I have my own thought experiment: I wonder how many of these Fintech C-suiters has rich parents that gave them huge loans or high-paying jobs right out of school, and I wonder how that affected them later in life...

Lmao i haven’t been paying close enough attention, I have fully paid off my sewing machine already. I’m too cynical to just believe Amazon’s payment program setup for certain items is going just *be* a good thing, but fuck if it hasn’t allowed me to have access to things that otherwise I would not be able to afford. With something I already kind of have to pay for given it’s one of the only reliable ways to get certain things delivered anyway.
Anyway the point is I officially own my sewing machine.
Until one of my other loans goes bad I guess but I consistently have been able to make at least the minimum payment on those guys so I think I’m good on those! I am being careful and not perfect but not unreasonable with my spending.
But I have reason to believe in optimism in the long term. Maybe. Hopefully. Probably. The sense of immediacy is all anxiety. Nothing needs to be solved right away. It can be solved over time.

This 2nd week's theme is “Classics Reimagined For Our Time”, with works updating their well-established enduring stories to address new concerns in modern settings, available from Thursday May 4th through Wednesday May 10th:
The Family Chao by Lan Samantha Chang, read by Brian Nishii from Recorded Books. This is a contemporary literary fiction drama novel retelling of 19th century Russian author Fyodor Dostoevsky's classic The Brothers Karamazov, recasting the story in a Chinese-American family in Wisconsin and examining the complicated relationships between the three sons and their difficult father, as they come under suspicion of murder after his untimely death.
Faraway: Fairy Tales for the Here and Now by authors Rainbow Rowell, Nic Stone, Soman Chainani, Ken Liu, & Gayle Forman, read by various narrators from Brilliance Audio. This is a mini-collection of remixed fairy tale fantasy shorts commissioned for the Amazon Original Stories line, giving a modern contemporary spin reinterpreting them in various styles including one done as a murder mystery recounted in police interviews (performed by a full cast).
The freebies are available via Overdrive's Sora service (listenable via browser on their website, or via their mobile app for iOS & Android devices).
To claim them, you'll need to register on the SYNC website with a valid email address to use in a Sora account, using the setup code and directions in the instructions in SYNC's FAQ (no need to re-register if you've participated in previous years' giveaways), clicking “Borrow” to add them to your Sora library as a permanent loan. NB: if you need to free up space on your device later, follow the instructions in the FAQ to only “delete files” and DO NOT “Return” the title, which would remove your future access.
Offered worldwide through Wednesday May 10th until just before midnight Eastern Time, available via the Sora website and app. You can also browse AudioFile Magazine's planned season list to see what will be offered in the weeks ahead and if there's anything you'd especially like to get.

For the aspirants for an MBA in India, NMIMS is one of the options
Tumblr media
Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Navi Mumbai Campuses The NMIMS MBA fees differ marginally from the other campuses yet still suit under the industry benchmark. Fees at these campuses generally come in at INR 16–18 lakhs for the two-year program. The advantages of each of the campuses differentiate themselves-from smaller cohort sizes to personalized faculty guidance and tailored industry exposure relevant to the local market needs-play their part as well.
Indore and Dhule Campuses The fees for the relatively more recent camps of NMIMS at Indore and Dhule are more or less INR 12–14 lakh. These camps attempt to provide the same kind of education with their focus on core business principles, leadership qualities, and industry immersion.
Other Expensiveness and Cost of Living Apart from the exorbitant tuition fees, other costs are also incurred especially if one prefers to stay within close proximity to campus. What follows are some of the major considerations:
Hostel Fees: On-campus accommodation is available, but it will strictly be first-come-first served. Hostel fees range between INR 1.5 to 2 lakhs per year depending on the type of accommodation one is willing to opt for. Food and Living Cost: The expense will also vary depending on the location but there will be a difference in the NMIMS campus. This is because Mumbai is more expensive compared to other cities, and one should be prepared for a cost of around INR 20,000–30,000 per month. Others Fees: This again will depend on the program, lifestyle, but there could be extra-co-curricular activities, learning materials, and traveling costs Scholarship and Financial Aid Offered NMIMS provides scholarships and several types of aid to cut down the burden of Narsee Monjee MBA fees for students who are considered deserving. Generally, there will be scholarships of the kind that rely on one’s academic performance, score in entrance tests, and socio-economic backgrounds. NMIMS rewards high-achieving students through merit-based scholarships that can cover a significant portion of the tuition fees. These scholarships are granted to those students with exceptional NMAT or GMAT scores and a great CGPA throughout the program.
Need-Based Scholarships NMIMS offers need-based scholarships to students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. These scholarships ensure the quality education reaches all sections, while equity and fairness in financial assessment are at play.
Corporate Sponsorships and Alumni Support There are numerous corporate sponsorships, especially for those students who have a great potential for leadership roles in the specific industries. The NMIMS Alumni Association provides scholarships to eligible students funded by the alumni as a source that meets merit-based and need-based criteria.
ROI and Salary Expectations After MBA from NMIMS The most critical factor for aspirants who would like to pursue an MBA is the return on investment (ROI) of Narsee Monjee MBA fees. With such high fees, most candidates weigh up the benefits of salaries post the MBA and career growth prospects. Here is what one can expect after graduation: Average Placement Packages NMIMS MBA graduates have excellent placement opportunities. The average salary package at INR 17 to 20 lakh per annum is witnessed. Especially high performers may draw more packages according to the specialisation and prior experience. The NMIMS MBA program comes out to be pretty competitive in terms of ROI.
Top Recruiters NMIMS has strong industry links with a wide number of recruiters visiting its campus for placements. Some of the prominent recruiters of leading firms like finance, consulting, marketing, and technology participate in NMIMS placements, which include giant multinational companies like Deloitte, EY, Google, Amazon, and JP Morgan, etc.
Tumblr media
Education Loans: Most banks offer education loans specific to the MBA programs with competitive interest rates and flexible repayment terms. Considering the brand value, the banks are promptly in a queue to provide loans for their MBA program at NMIMS. Payment in installments: NMIMS allows fee payment in installments, which is really helpful for students planning their finances or waiting for other funds to clear. Internships and part-time work: Though MBA programs are highly time consuming, some students opt for part-time internships, especially during the second year, to raise more money. Conclusion The fees for the Narsee Monjee MBA may be one of the highest in India; however, they reflect exceptional education, vast industry connections, and post-graduation career opportunities at NMIMS. Through scholarships, corporate sponsorships, and thoughtful financial planning, the investment into the program may be highly rewarding. For those aspiring MBA students who value a career-growth outlook, global exposure, and a tight-knit alumni network, there are fewer options than that offered by NMIMS in India.

The No-Nonsense Approach To Note Investing With Dan Deppen & Jay Conner
Private Money Academy Conference:
https://www.JaysLiveEvent.com
Free Report:
Dan Deppen’s mission is to help his clients earn outsized returns with mortgage notes so they can achieve their retirement and side income goals.
His clients come to him because they want a no-nonsense approach to note investing and a step-by-step system that won’t waste their time.
Dan’s journey to a better life Meet Dan Deppen – Focused on making note investing more accessible to investors who want to create side incomes and grow their retirement savings.
Dan started his career as a mechanical engineer in the aerospace industry and later got his MBA from the University of Colorado. He was a product manager at large companies like Oracle and Amazon AWS, as well as some small startups.
Along the way, he was always interested in investing, starting with stocks at the age of 19 and then moving to options trading.
There were also some individual entrepreneurship efforts along the way, which had mixed results. The goal was always to create financial independence and build a business that was his, not subject to corporate whims.
After investing through the dot com blowup and the financial crisis, it was apparent how quickly the stock market can drop and how little control an individual has in such a large market. He wanted to move some of his net worth into real estate, but even back then, cap rates on rentals in the Denver area were challenging. Then in seeking alternative real estate investments, Dan discovered notes. After a few months of getting oriented, he dove in.
Despite paying too much for his first note and joining an expensive mastermind program that didn’t deliver, we kept going. Over the past several years, Dan has scaled up his note portfolio and incorporated his lessons learned into a set of systems and processes that make note investing easier and less time-consuming than it has been for the past 40 years.
Now, in addition to operating his portfolio and delivering returns for his investors, he helps new note investors get started and existing note investors become more profitable and effective.

Types of Mobile Commerce
Consumers can now complete purchases and access services using mobile devices thanks to mobile commerce, or m-commerce, a fast-expanding section of the retail business. Businesses are using mobile commerce in a variety of ways to increase customer interaction and boost sales as smartphones and mobile internet become more widely used. The main categories of mobile commerce are as follows:
M-Shopping, or mobile shopping One of the most common types of m-commerce is mobile shopping. It entails customers using applications or mobile-friendly websites to buy things straight from their smartphones or tablets. In order to streamline transactions, retailers frequently create specialized mobile apps with features like easy payment methods, loyalty benefits, and tailored suggestions. Amazon, eBay, and Alibaba are well-known examples that offer comprehensive product listings and easy buying experiences.
Tumblr media
Banking via mobile Users can conduct financial transactions using their mobile devices thanks to mobile banking. This can involve paying bills, transferring money, checking account balances, and even asking for loans. Because mobile banking is convenient and allows users to monitor their funds at any time and from any location, financial institutions have welcomed it. Mobile banking skills have been further enhanced by the emergence of fintech companies, which provide cutting-edge services like investment management through mobile apps and budgeting tools.
Payments via Mobile Transactions performed with mobile devices, usually via applications or digital wallets, are referred to as mobile payments. By saving their credit or debit card details on their devices, services like Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay allow customers to make safe payments. Customers can now earn rewards with each transaction thanks to the growing integration of loyalty programs with mobile payment solutions. Many customers now prefer mobile payments because of its ease, particularly in physical retail settings.
Ticketing via Mobile Customers can buy, store, and present tickets on their mobile devices thanks to mobile ticketing, which is common in the travel and entertainment sectors. Mobile ticketing has been implemented by public transportation networks, concert venues, and airlines to expedite the purchasing process and cut down on paper waste. It is now simpler to attend events without physical tickets thanks to the availability of digital tickets via email or smartphone apps.
Mobile Promotion Using mobile devices to promote goods or services is known as mobile advertising. Display ads, in-app adverts, and customized marketing messages delivered through push notifications or SMS are a few examples of this. To target particular demographics, advertisers use mobile ad networks, utilizing data analytics to maximize ad performance. Mobile advertising has emerged as a crucial tactic for companies trying to raise sales and brand awareness as consumers interact with information on their cellphones more and more.
Internet-based purchasing Social commerce, which blends e-commerce and social media platforms, enables users to buy products directly through social networks like Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest. Posts and articles can be used by businesses to showcase their products, which facilitates shopping. Social commerce leverages the social nature of these platforms by leveraging user-generated content, reviews, and influencer relationships to boost conversions.
Mobile Coupons & Promotions Customers can utilize mobile coupons, which are electronic vouchers, on their mobile devices to get discounts on products or services. Retailers employ mobile discounts to attract new customers, encourage repeat business, and increase foot traffic to real locations. Mobile apps usually include features for tracking coupons and redeeming them, providing users with easy access to savings.
In conclusion The way that customers interact with companies, shop, and bank is being completely transformed by mobile commerce. The many forms of mobile commerce are anticipated to grow more as technology develops, giving companies new and creative methods to engage with their clientele. Businesses may improve consumer experiences, boost marketing tactics, and spur growth in a world that is becoming more and more mobile-driven by comprehending and embracing these many types of m-commerce.

I got an email about my student loans. Apparently through SSA they determined I’m on TPD or Total and Permanent Disability. Through that, they are discharging my student loans. (Or they’re being forgiven.) I don’t have to do anything. They’ll just get rid of them. I had an ok program beforehand where it was based on my income, which was nothing, and they’d forgive it about 15 years later. This is just automatic. Much better. Good news. I didn’t know I’d get so many benefits through SSA.
I also tried to contact Amazon’s customer service through an email address I found. Apparently they don’t use that anymore. So, through kdp (kindle direct publishing, I published my books through it) I looked for another way to contact them. The only way to do it was either calling or chatting with them. I decided to chat with them.
My royalties are $98 through the US market, and a little from the Canadian and Great Britain ones. They said before that you can’t get your royalties until you hit $100 in the US market. So, I was surprised I got a letter, a couple of months ago, saying they’ll finally pay me my royalties. They said it’ll be $92. I wondered why it wasn’t $98, but maybe it was taxes or something. I got my first deposit straight to my bank account that was only $6.24. This obviously made me upset. I thought where’s the rest of it?
Anyways, after chatting for a while, they told me I should get the rest at the end of the month. That was a relief. I don’t know why they only did the $6.24 first and not the whole thing. So, this was good news too.
