POST 1 - The endeavor
I would say I’ve changed his name for privacy, but I don’t think that’s necessary. My husband is so lovingly and beautifully named Dave. Hahaha. Sometimes I like to say his name with a dead-pan expression on my face and it makes me laugh. He kinda hates that he has the most common name ever. Trust me, though, and I tell him, my Dave is one of a kind. A diamond in the rough. However, in one very important aspect, he is a lot like the rest of your husbands out there. He is not a Taylor Swift fan.
This does indeed sometimes pose a minor threat to our marriage. Every once in a while I hear a complaint that he has to listen to the same songs. Or, I get defensive because once again he has told me my taste in music is unoriginal and I like artists that are popular. Like that’s somehow a bad thing!? You know, DAVE, they are popular for a reason!!
Okay, simmering down. So you can see why a simple woman like me would start an endeavor like this. I will of course be keeping this whole thing a secret from Dave, so I appreciate that people out there are joining me on this journey. I anticipate it will be challenging, but hilarious. And yes, I do have full faith in T. Swift to change not just my man’s heart, but transform our marriage. <3

Dark beauty 🔏🖤
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I gaze in admiration at the radiant woman before me, the girl who stormed into my life and gifted me the grace of resilient beauty. She has sunk her teeth into my soul, and now parts of me are hers—gnawed at, until we are bound in ways that words could never untangle.
Her dark curls fall like waves of night, each twist holding a secret, soft and wild. There’s a quiet power in her, a darkness that isn’t cold, but warm, like the safety of a shadow. Her strength feels ancient, as if she carries the weight of things long forgotten, yet moves through life with grace. In her, I find both shelter and something untamed— the kind of beauty that makes me feel more alive.

It's been a rough 72 hours for my confidence, but the universe has started sending me small reminders that I am going to be okay.
I let someone I love make me feel SO insecure over the weekend and it has taken me an embarrassingly long time to snap out of that mental state. I can finally feel my attitude improving and myself cheering up. The worst of it is over because you can't keep a bad bitch down.
Despite feeling low, I continued to put myself and my art out there every day. Today, one of my ig followers asked if they could commission me to paint a portrait of their pet. I feel so honored that they chose me! :')
It may have been a rough start to the week, but I'm gonna make the best of it.

So, in Brazilian book market news, books generated by Artificial Intelligence are starting to pop up in the country's Amazon store.
Tumblr media
Journalists from Núcleo Jornalismo had identified new 59 books on the website on the past 30 days. Within this set, 52 titles make clear in their information the use of AI tools for text generation, placing the co-authorship for “Artificial Intelligence” or “ChatGPT”, the OpenAI chatbot. In another three cases, authorship is attributed to MidJourney (an AI focused on images), while four obtained confirmation from the report through alternative approaches, checking on YouTube.
In July, Amazon and six other leading AI companies pledged to the US White House to use technology responsibly. Representatives of these companies signed an agreement that includes the implementation of a watermarking system, which, in theory, will inform users when content on their platforms is generated by artificial intelligence algorithms.
The themes of the publications found vary from children's books to self-help works, fiction and even imitations of renowned authors. Some of them explore the metanarrative, under which ChatGPT investigates its own nature.
Núcleo also noticed 46 new coloring books in the last 30 days on Amazon alone. Everyone seems to be using the basics of digital marketing videos. However, without certainty that they were created from AI, the works were not counted.
Influential authors are also sharing concerns about another angle to this situation: spam. Some firmly argue that the volume of AI-generated books is putting detrimental pressure on Amazon, especially for indie authors. And it doesn't stop there; these authors also accuse this content of becoming a kind of “click farm”, a term that describes the mass production of questionable and superficial content to attract attention and audience.

The Best Best Original Screenplay: Preliminary Round
Writers are the backbone of film and television. Their work is utterly essential to a project’s success. A screenplay is a blueprint for the cast and crew.
Despite their absolute importance, writers lack the respect given directors or the fleeting fame and glamour of star actors. They aren't even guaranteed the pay and working conditions they deserve, hence the utterly justified strike that began today (5/2).
But there is one night a year that certain writers are invited get all dressed up and be fêted on national television: Oscar Night.
To celebrate writers, the next two rounds on this Oscar-related bracket blog will be devoted to the writers’ awards: Best Original Screenplay and Best Adapted Screenplay. By popular vote, Original Screenplay will go first.
As with our previous tournament, we’ll begin with 16 preliminary matches. The top-two vote-getters from each poll will proceed to the round of 32/first bracketed round. The bracket will be seeded by IMDb rating.
The Oscar for Best Original Screenplay has been awarded every year since 1940, with the exception of 1948, when the award was combined with Best Adapted Screenplay to create one Best Screenplay award. Since that year's winner, Treasure of the Sierra Madre, was an adaptation, it is not included in this tournament. (It will be included in our next tournament!)

Diary of unspoken words 🔏🧸
Tumblr media
I talk to my feelings like old friends, scribbling their names in the margins of my mind. Each thought, a sentence perfectly formed, a secret confession written without a word.
My head is a diary, its pages filled with all the things I’ll never say. I explain myself so well in here— each feeling wrapped in clarity, a polished gem I hold to the light.
But when I try to speak, the ink vanishes, and the perfect thoughts become tangled threads, knots too tight for my mouth to undo.
In my mind, everything is clear, but outside, all is silence. The words stay locked away, safe between the lines where no one can see.

I want to try a self guided art program and I've been looking at a book called, "The Artist's Way." Thinking about asking for it as a Christmas present, but it's from the 90s and maybe a little dated? Idk. Have any of you read it or tried the workbook? I'm open to any sort of self-imposed curriculum like that. I'm a big fan of classes, but it's not really an option for me right now.
Inconsistency is killing me. I am craving a schedule. A program. SOMETHING to keep me on track. Maybe a friend.. idk. I need to hold myself accountable and thought maybe this would be the way to do it.
Lemme know your thoughts if you have any :)

Modern AU where Ed's a celebrity chef and he falls in love with the Gentleman Chef, an amateur cooking YouTuber who keeps leaving nice comments on Ed's recipe blog
And he knows he's not moving on from this one when he gets a stupid guilt-trippy review from a health food blogger and Stede snippily responds to it like "You can go eat your granola bars, Margaret, none of us will stop you, but I don't know what you expected when you chose to click on a recipe called 'Ed's favorite ooey-gooey secret indulgence triple chocolate brownies'"
Anyway Ed quits his Michelin starred restaurant and he and Stede just get to make videos about food that's fun yummy and filling!

hello obviously there isn't anything i can really do to control this (unfortunately i deleted a bunch of posts BEFORE turning off reblogs on them) but i would prefer that people did not circulate my posts from this blog any more... i appreciate that people are kind to me about my art, but that is just my request i suppose. this blog is unprivated now, and if you'd like to see what is still up you can look at them here. my ask box is also open but i will not be making any art posts here from now on. here is a little preemptive faq:
why did you leave?
i didn't feel comfortable or happy posting on this blog any more!
do you still make art? do you post it somewhere else?
yes. but i've been pulling away from posting very much online, and the things i'm interested in drawing nowadays are generally more private, so i won't be directing anyone there or anything. i don't consider my new blog to be a continuation of this one.
i know your new blog!
that isn't really that surprising since i didn't honestly put great effort into concealing it or anything. we are probably not friends, so i hold no sway over you, but i would still prefer you did not share it or treat me as if i am still "vilz who posts fnaf art". i'm just a whatever blogger who blogs about whatever things. also to be frank i do not think my new blog has anything that interesting for people who followed for the kind of art i used to post here. this is not an invitation to say "it is interesting!".
we are friends!
if we have not been in direct, mutual conversations i highly doubt that. i'm sorry if that hurts anyone's feelings.
why did you delete all your self ship art?
people seem to enjoy my self ship art a lot, which is very flattering, but i don't want people to be looking at them any more. i realize that they are still rebloggable and are still circulating around, which is nobody's fault but my own, but i would prefer they were not shared any more. i can't really do anything about it and i also don't blame anyone for reblogging those posts since it's obviously not something they would know, but yeah.
i saw your art on pinterest!
i did not and do not consent to my works being put on pinterest. the art from "vilz" has not been uploaded by me to any other website besides tumblr. if someone is posting my art from here on a different platform, they are doing so without permission.
i saw you on magma!
i still join magma boards sometimes lol. it's a fun site.
what about your ocs?
they are still my ocs. sometimes i still draw them. currently, i do not have any plans of posting my oc art online ever again. i would prefer that people did not reblog the oc art i have posted to this blog.
what about your fics?
all of my fics are still up on ao3 anonymously. they are: small mercies obscura floriography baying of lambs scrape bitch, bastard, bullshit almost human a dream, recurring countdown i'm very flattered and happy that people have left kind comments on these. thank you very much for reading the words of an amateur and for sharing an experience with me.
are you going to finish your uncompleted fics?
i would really like to say yes, because i care a great deal about aspects of them, but it's looking pretty unlikely. i lost all my files (and my calmlywriter key !!! always save your emails and receipts, everyone!!!) and also it's hard to feel motivated about them now. i guess i will leave this up in the air just to soothe my own feelings but in reality the answer is Probably Not.
are you going to post new fics?
i might, because i've been in a writing mood lately, but please don't expect anything. if i do, they will be anonymous on ao3. i will not post about them here or on any other blog.
i really liked your posts and blog!
thank you. i'm glad that people could feel that way about the things i made and thought about stuff i care about. irregardless, i would prefer that people did not share my old posts from this blog.
i will do it anyway.
i cannot stop you, so there isn't really any point in pleading. i just thought i'd make a little info post for people who are inquiring. after this, there won't be any "posts" from me. if there are relevant questions or messages i might reply to them or just update this post.
thank you for reading and for enjoying my blog. goodbye !!!

Five minutes of Instagram fame
The Brazilian fan is back with more attention-grabbing content, one week after she had thousands of eyes on her London shenanigans. Which I am not going to discuss, simply because I do believe there is no need to give the anecdote more space than it deserves. Enough is enough, and the apparent collective loss of all sense of measure is a sure sign that pause is needed, in that department.
What I am going to discuss, however, is the chutzpah of a 23 year old Nobody, who just wishes to keep those five minutes of fame rolling on and on and on.
Yesterday, she felt compelled to publish another batch of Instagram stories, in which she delivers her Toxic Shipping 101 lecture:
Tumblr media
In the process, she basically just rephrases the main Anti Bible arguments, calls thousands of people 'insane', quotes two influential shipper blogs (slàinte mhath, @bat-cat-reader!) that didn't even come close to what I wrote about her, brings on board her mother and grandmother just to explain how upset she was about 'older American women picking up on her'. And ends with a rather pathetic plea for all of us, shippers, to 'seek immediate medical attention'. Same unnerving sotaque Paulista (São Paulo accent), with a posh and very fake tinge of British English. Same incoherent, amateur and immature discourse, endlessly seeking to bring attention to herself, mildly trying to victimize herself. Blah, blah.
I would have given her grace, were it not for this particular argument, in response to a X user asking a rather uncomfortable question, as she definitely has the constitutional right to do:
'OH God, not her again 23 yr old Brazilian trying to be a reporter in London, complete fail. but in BIG OL LONDON, 'JUST HAPPENED' TO Spot Sam, how dumb do you think we all are?'
Answer is the real dumb part of the story, if you ask me, especially coming from a very young woman: 'Forbidden to be a journalist and meet a celebrity in the street. Forbidden to go for a walk as a journalist, paging all my colleagues, ok? I had no clue I could be as scheming as they say I am.'
Ok, buttercup: it is my honest understanding that you want to be taken seriously and treated as a professional, right? Did I miss something, here?
Right. As the daughter of a journalist and a former Government expert in media policies (specifically dealing with media content broadcasting), I am going to do exactly this and honestly ask you, Mrs. Silva:
Do you consider, in all good faith, that you acted like a professional journalist, in this very circumstance?
Do you consider to have kept your impartiality and have you at least checked all the relevant facts and POVs, before slandering all those people on your social media account? Or did you content yourself to report the hearsay shared with you by other bloggers, and just conveniently quoted four random bloggers and commenters?
Have you the slightest idea that one of the commenters who reached out to you on Instagram, questioning your version of the facts, is not even a shipper (and actually, very violently far from being one)?
During the week separating your first post and this reaction to people's feedback, have you or have you not respected your due diligence obligation to contact and engage with the people you so easily treat as a bit less than the scum of the Earth?
Did you or did you not ask for permission to quote their published content on your social media account, especially in a polemic context?
Unlike you, I have diligently perused both your website and your Linked In account. Maybe it is time to tell all those people you have insulted the truth about who you are, professionally, at this very moment:
Tumblr media
Marketing student, 3rd semester.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Let me count: 3 internships (correct me if I am wrong), in various junior positions for 1 local media outlet, 1 international corporation and 1 website, 4 different jobs - or should I say 'stints' (3 with your current employer, 1 as a freelancer for a local media outlet).
Still learning. There is absolutely nothing bad about it. But you have still a LONG way to go until you could pretend to be a real voice. And there is nothing in what you posted that could grab my professional attention and make me hire you. Quite the contrary and, believe it or not, I am awfully sorry to say so.
My three free and totally unsolicited pieces of advice:
Always check your facts, always get in touch with the people you plan to write about. In fact, your anger and ego got the best of your professional self and you lost a great opportunity for a paper you could have even titled ' Viagem na Shipperlândia' (A Trip to Shipperland). I would have read that. But you haven't. You preferred to act just like all the other 23 year old girls and make a belly-button story about yourself.
Never bring your family forward in questionable contexts. You expose people who have nothing to do with the irrelevant insanity of a fandom war, to which you contributed your own, perhaps involuntary, dose of chaos and unnecessary drama.
Never lie on your Linked In resume. Potential employers might and will read it. Never write things like:
Tumblr media
.. when you also fail to accurately describe your former job position, denoting poor spelling:
Tumblr media
Especially when words are your craft, bread and butter. The devil is always in the details:
Tumblr media
As I mentioned in a previous post, you could have been my daughter. I have been that 23 year old girl myself, desperate to list every single internship and tempted to inflate language proficiency, in the hope it would land me the job of my dreams. And I have learned the hard way that being a true professional is cancelling your ego.
You'll learn. Until then, stop bitching on things you have no idea about and act like an adult, not an attention hungry teenager. This comes from a place of tough love: sometimes, the most effective life lessons are given by complete strangers.

I saw another post on another blog that had a really good point and wanted to share it with everyone here...unfortunately I can't find the comment now!
The anon suggested that perhaps why the wire services may have freaked out about the edits on KP's photo is because of terms and conditions prohibiting agencies from selling post-edited or post-modified images. So someone at the AP or whatever wire service saw the edits and assumed that the usual rules - no selling or purchasing edited photos - applied in this case and overcorrected by issuing the kill notice to rectify their mistake of purchasing an edited photo. And in that panic to correct their "error", no one realized that the photo was sourced from a personal social media account, thus is subject to different rules. More internet chaos and a KP apology later, the photo suddenly gets resurrected and some of the community notes are removed.
It's a good theory, and one that's very plausible. Probably the most plausible explanation of everything that happened.
As to why there was suddenly a resurrection, I'm thinking the lawyers got involved and if the lawyers finally did get pulled in, they probably said either "this is a personal photo accessed on social media, those rules don't apply" (and everyone went "shit-shit-shit") or they talked about the sudden liabilities they're now open to with this precedence of calling out edits that they now have a standard to uphold (and everyone went "shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit"). Again, this is just conjecture. The kneejerking back-and-forth that happened today does seem classically lawyerese to me, though.
A second piece to this, I'm reminded of how KP shares their photos. Which is that the actually aren't selling their photographs. It's an old story from back in 2013, but when KP published the baby George-Kate-William-Lupo photos taken by Michael Middleton, a blogger who wanted to buy the photos for her website contacted Michael or KP to enquire about purchase and usage, and Michael or Michael's people responded that there was no cost for using the photos as long as she properly credited him with the copyright and used them only for a news story. I imagine that's similar to KP's process; if a publication (such as the AP) wants to reproduce a photograph credited to Kate (or William) that has been published on social media, the entity makes a request to the office, and the communications office sends them the source file.
At no point in any of this is there actually any money exchanging hands. I'm pretty confident there's no money being exchanged for KP's personal photographs to be reused, in which case the "we don't buy edited photos" rule is null and void. Different standards apply here. (My confidence comes from the fact that this is part of the "press pact" that Meghan and Harry pushed back against; they wanted to charge copyright and usage fees for their personal photographs rather than make them freely available on request like the then-Cambridges did.)
And then finally, all photographers - amateur and professional alike - edit their images before publishing them or sending them anywhere. What Kate did is no different than what Misan Harriman or Chris Jackson or Samir Hussein do (and have admitted to! Check out those links for their "confessions."). And I suspect that KP's statement where Kate said she had done the editing herself before the photo was posted is what threw the monkey wrench that maybe brought the lawyers in - because if they retract KP's photo on the basis that someone edited it before it was first posted/submitted to the public, then they have to retract thousands and thousands of other photos on the same grounds that someone edited it before it was first posted/submitted to the public. Again, this is all speculation.
At the end of the day, it all seems to be boiling down to one thing: there was a mixup and a miscommunication somewhere. And for me, all the signs point to the cock-up happening on the media's side. The rules/terms and conditions they have in place to use only verified images are good ones to have, but the last 48 hours have made it abundantly clear that there are holes in the rules and gaps in how they vet and verify images they source and distribute.
(Honestly I'm surprised that photographers haven't spoken out in Kate's defense. I'd have thought at least one or two would've said something. I can see why they wouldn't - maybe jobs are on the line or maybe they lose contest/recognition opportunities if they do - but it does strike me as a bit odd.)
(Also, sorry to the anon from earlier this morning to whom I said I probably wasn't going to post on the photo edit drama anymore. Clearly that plan went by the wayside.)
