It was Thursday 03. 03. 2016, it was beautifully gloomy outside and it was alternately snowing and raining - the worst weather you can get on holiday abroad, you might say. Well I was in Oslo, the capital city of the Kingdom of Norway, and I decided to take advantage of the moody weather and head for a tour of museums and monuments. I first enjoyed the wonderful artefacts in the Historical Museum and then admired the breathtaking works of artists in the National Gallery. It was here in one of the halls, where I discovered empty postcards, pencils and erasers next to a blackboard with children's drawings of pictures. I checked with the museum staff if they would mind if I tried to draw one and, with permission, spent amazing afternoon talking with people and drawing the picture you see. I stood for a long time in front of Amaldus Clarin Nielsen's painting called Fine weather, which he painted in Jaeren in 1984, trying in vain to capture the subtle soft light of his painting. My back were in horrible pain from weird postures I took because only solid thing I could use as a drawing pad was a book about Vikings I bought in the museum just before. In the end I gave up, thanked him in my thoughts for such beautiful artwork and went to enjoy the rest of the similarly breathtaking scenes, which artists left here for our hearts to melt...
