Last question I've got for you, has there ever been a reason why there isn't more continuously-available Epithet merch on Creator Spring? It's always struck me as odd that you haven't gone for more stuff like shirts, stickers, and buttons.

The honest answer to this is that I just do not like merch.

I'm a really environmentally-conscious person and frankly there just aren't a lot of merch options out there that aren't objectively kind of bad for the environment. Even t-shirts and plushies are pretty dicey in the long-run due to textile waste.

Print-on-demand services have a lighter carbon footprint, but they're usually poor quality. I don't mind Spring for posters or prints, but their t-shirts feel cheap. I don't like wearing them myself, so I don't want to promote them to other people. It makes me feel like I'm lying to my fans or trying to rip them off. One-time campaigns like the dolls are fine, but they are, by nature, one-and-done.

You might not know this if you haven't been A Content Creator(tm) in a post-2020 world, but we get emails and offers from all these horrible companies literally nonstop asking for merch opportunities. I got six today alone. There's a huge subculture of scummy merch providers who can't wait to help you rip off as many people as possible. It's poisoned my opinions on merch even more.

Additionally, merch is exhausting to promote. Every single campaign is 5-7 days of emailing and planning minimum and then a little dedicated promotional video. "Well, you don't have to make a video Jello". Oh yeah I do. People miss these things even when I do promote them. If their only heads up is a tweet or an email from the website subscription letter, nobody's going to buy them, and that usually means a failed campaign if if I have to hit a threshold.

It's worth mentioning that "the Epithet team" is just me. I'm the one guy who has to oversee literally everything. And if I'm having trouble keeping official print runs of the actual book on store shelves, which I am right now, I don't feel like it's a good use of my time to start selling extra stuff while the series languishes.

The only piece of merch I've ever made that I thought was pretty cool was the Molly hoodies because they were interesting and custom made. The dolls are okay.

I'd like to release a blu-ray set for Epithet some time in the future so people can have a physical version of the media. Other than that, I'm hesitant. I know people want more merch. I just hate making it.

Hot Topic has been kinda killin' it with neat new designs on SU merch, which to me is pretty special considering how long the show has been off the air and how much I like to get new merch. :X However, the last time I was browsing their site, I decided against getting one of the designs because it's this:

Huh? "Ladies love a hero"? Where the heck did THAT come from?

It's certainly never said in the show, and it's not a sentiment that's presented by any characters, nor is it intended as a message by its creators. Not to mention that the Gems pictured technically aren't even "ladies." Who got the weird idea that "ladies love a hero" would be an appropriate thing to associate with Steven Universe?

I ended up buying a coffee mug with a bunch of SU artifacts and was dismayed to find the "ladies love a hero" phrase had somehow made it onto the otherwise canon-referential mug.

When it came in I showed it to my friend and asked him to find the thing on it that was "wrong." IMMEDIATELY he was like "Ladies love a hero? WHAT?"

Just kinda makes me think that instead of being designed by anyone with a passing familiarity with the show, it was thrown together by someone who thought it would look good. Who decided this?

Okay. So, seeing merch with random shit from the show splashed all over it is common with knockoffs and lazy ripoff artists, but seeing something like this in a mainstream store is puzzling. It's a somewhat confusing graphic with no message, but it's like . . .

It's just kind of a mess, conceptually. A bunch of pretty pictures, several of which are stock art and a couple of which I've basically never seen on anything (so why these, why now?).

It's not uncommon for images featuring the four main characters to have character designs that couldn't have coexisted, but that doesn't bother me as much as something that just feels like it was an out-of-touch designer's google search result for Steven Universe characters.

Man, I need to be a merch consultant for this show or something. I am not much of an artist and am not a designer, but like . . . if they'd just asked ONE fan. . . .

Interest Call for Raging Loop Official Merch at the Pop Up Shop

From December 13th to December 22nd, 2024, there will be a Raging Loop pop up shop in Tokyo to celebrate its 9th anniversary! I happen to be going to Japan during this time, and will be buying merch for myself. Several people I know were interested in me purchasing extra merch for them, and given the sheer rarity of Raging Loop merch, I am more than willing to oblige.

Sample James (The Blue Addison) [He/Him]

I am not immune to Blue Addison = Oldest and most responsible propaganda. So... yeah! Sample is the eldest / second-eldest next to his twin, Broadcast, of the group! He's an employee of a gift shop / Cyber Shoes location (the shop that gives out free samples!) They're the most level-headed of the group, being the type to offer gentle advice, comfort, and care, along with a listening ear and a calming presence. They're not exactly... enthusiastic about their job? But it pays the bill, so he doesn't try to find a new one that fits into his purpose within Cyber City's Addison workforce. Sample also has pica, so occasionally he's selling / giving Lightners (like Kris) products from the gift shop like they're comsumables rather than items.

Sample is closest with his twin, Broadcast - in fact, they're the only pair of Addisons to have spawned in at the exact same time on the same day in Cyber City. Even if they're not biologically related, they still consider themselves twins, and they were the first people that each other saw. Broadcast is a bit like the Yin to Sample's Yang, as they're an influencer to getting Sample to be more outgoing, while Sample is the influence that (sometimes) mellows Broadcast out.

Sample's advertisements tend to hinge between survey advertisements (like sample sizes) and advertising websites that work with coupons and saving money like Honey and Rakuten.

Broadcast Nikola (The Yellow Addison) [He/They]

In my interpretation of the main four Addisons, Broadcast is, as his name suggests, a commercial broadcaster! Tehy work very long hours at Cyber City's TV station as the sole host of Cyber City's shopping channels, advertising products sold by Addisons across the city nearly 24 hours a day. Despite the long hours, he's a huge ball of energy, constantly speaking quickly and fidgeting with a pair of metal spheres that they carry everywhere. In addition, they're... very much a coffee and sugar addict, keeping a thermos on him at all times that's filled with coffee mixed with obscene amounts of cinnamon and sugar.

Of course, they're closest with their twin, Sample. Most of their free time off work is spent with him. Broadcast is also the type to wear Hawaiian shirts and meme clothes (like that one ADHD shirt that parodies the ACDC merch), and was the one who suggested they and Sample dye portions of their hair in the other's colour, and the one who suggested the family spend their Friday nights at the Cyber Grill (a lot of the time, he was singing at the karaoke stand with Spamton or Banner).

As you probably guessed, Broadcast's advertisements are all television / video based, with commercials on television and advertisements on websites like YouTube.

Target Tourmaline (The Pink Addison) [He/Him]

Target is the middle child of the main four Addisons! He runs a combination jewellery store / Cyber Shoes location - the place where you buy the Freeze Ring / get the pitch for the Dating Shoes. He also runs the tea shop, so he is a bit of a workaholic. He's very no-nonsense and by-the-book, and VERY strict with time management since he already runs three stores. He's also very picky about what he eats and drinks, watching the amount of data that consumables have and pretty much only drinking tea and occasionally battery acid.

Out of the main group, he's the most powerful with his magic, having studied and practiced with it for a long time. Outside of being very uppity, he does care a lot about his siblings, and is usually the one to be called for tough love and harsh truths that need to be heard. He's the closest with Banner, but was also pretty close with Spamton in more of a teasing older sibling - egotistical little sibling dynamic.

Their type of advertising is targeted ads, giving Lightners ads based on their browsing data. He and Spamton used to run a dating website where he did the matchmaking, and Spamton sent out the emails to promote the website.

Banner Hestia (The Orange Addison) [They/Them]

Banner is the youngest of the main four! They run the shop where you buy the Mannequin, and is the most successful of the group with a very popular boutique. They tend to hyperfixate HARD on their clothing designs, and brings a sketching tablet practically everywhere with them. They can make clothes and designs very VERY fast, buuuut tend to fall asleep at their own desk late at night.

They're the closest with Target, usually going to him for advice and just general hanging out, but it's very well known that Banner wears their heart on their sleeve, and cares deeply for every one of their little family - to the point where it may be a little bit obsessive / possessive. They're known for their excellent customer service and speed at getting work and commissions done, being very helpful and supportive towards the customers that come to their shop. Simultaneously the most and least salesman-like of the group since despite their great success they still form a lot of connections with customers and clients and never just like another sucker to buy their stuff.

Banner's type of advertising is, of course, banner advertisements. You have them to thank for the absolutely insane amount of banner ads covering most of the Fandom wiki.

hi!! different person, but similar question to the person who asked about selling things online as a disabled artist. I would also appreciate an answer from anyone who has experience on this kind of thing, I will be keeping an eye on notes!! :3

I'm not really able to find work where I live, I don't have a diploma or a car and I'm physically unable to do food work. i am artistically skilled though and want to be like, a fandom artist? I want to make prints, stickers, shirts, charms, zines/doujinshis, and eventually more physical stuff like fursuit parts when I'm able to afford exploring that. also digital goods like adopts or YCH/commissions.

do you (or anyone in notes!) have resources or info or experience on selling like, trinkets and art merch? keeping motivation on developing into a freelance career artist?? I know it'll take a while but I'm willing to do the work & I'm willing to sacrifice myself and my art for the algorithm.

that's tough, i'm sorry finding work is so challenging for you in your situation. conventional jobs have been off limit to me for years due to lack of transportation, disability, and so on, so i totally understand that. the economy is harsh right now

the thing to keep in mind when starting is how many different kinds of supplies you will need. the different projects you can do are going to directly be limited by how many supplies you can afford. many hobbies use the same types of materials, wire can be used for wire wrapping, keychains, necklaces, and many other things. elastic string can make both necklaces and bracelets. acrylic paint can be used for a lot of things like altering clothing and objects as well as traditional paintings. thrift stores often times have large boxes of stone, wood, and plastic beads which can be used to make a variety of different types of jewelry. i've also found bulk perler beads, and other craft supplies!

i've always wanted to make fursuits as well, but i would need a sewing machine and a lot of fabric LOL. i'd be curious to hear from fursuit makers since that's been an interest of mine since i first learned about them

mailing things isn't too bad all things considered, you may be able to get free pickup for your outgoing products. also keep in mind that you will need to buy and print shipping labels for every order you ship. motivation is tough but i mitigate that one by allowing myself to try something new when i get bored. maybe i challenge myself to make a new type of jewelry or see if another craft is affordable and look into starting that. when you're your own boss you do get to decide what you do with your time and that's one of the best parts

any other disabled artists who make their own products and trinkets feel free to chime in with advice. sometimes this is what we have to do in order to survive and that's what it is. i'm definitely not a pro at what i'm doing so i'd love to hear from other more experienced folks as well!

So uh, something a bit different than what I normally post here! Long story short, there's a bunch of neat FLCL designs used for merch and stuff. However, a lot of them are being sold on the second-hand market for a lot of money. In most cases way too much than what I (and probably other people) would be willing to spend on one piece of clothing.

In particular, I really wanted to get the hoodie with the Black Flames Canti logo, but genuine hoodies of that don't seem to go for anything less than a hundred dollars. :u

Thus, I decided to do redraws of some of the designs that I particularly like, and put them on my TeePublic store! You can choose to get them on not just shirts, but also things like stickers and art prints! Some of these also have variants to accommodate lighter/darker product colors.

I am planning to do a few more redraws like these, but for now I have the four designs shown here (plus variants), and another design based on a merch design from FLCL Alternative.

I'm being delusional but hear me out

Do you ever think about what it would be like to actually date them? Because I have. A lot. Mainly as a preparation for what would happen in terms of Atiny finding because let's be honest the fandom is kinda scary.

ANYWAYS

Here is something I was thinking about if I was an undercover gf forced to come out of hiding (Bc they would have to force me not that I wouldn't love to shout it from the rooftops I would again be afraid of getting torn to shreds on the internet). Feel free to use my delusion for your fics.

1. Yunho is dating the girl version of his best friend.

Mingi and I are very similar in our aesthetics and interests. With our zodiac charts and personalities, I think we'd drive Yunho crazy or he'd be endeared because we would act more like siblings. I think Atiny would think it was cute(Yunho dating the female version of Mingi), but I can see them being weird about it and giving me insecurity about my relationship with Mingi.

2. Wearing his clothing

I am annoying and possessive. If for some reason, I kept my social media and didn't scrub it from existence I would post a lot in his clothing. No mention of Yunho bc I'm passive with my "asserting dominance." Some would respect it, and some would chew me out. No inbetween. In my defense, this wouldn't be new since I do it now.

3. Social Media in general

I would keep Yunho off my socials unless he specifically wanted to be included and even then I would be hesitant. This would be my bit until Yunho made me stop.

Atiny would ask questions about Ateez and the boys and I would want to engage with them. Atiny means a lot to Yunho and it would break both of our hearts if they hated me (Yunho's GF in general). I was a fan of Ateez first, it would be silly to pretend I didn't know who they were when I was yapping nonstop about them. I would however never talk about Yunho. We could be married and Atiny would be like who is your bias?? "Mingi." Did you see Yunho in ____? "Did you see Yeosang?" Absolute deflection. Yunho would be in the background side-eyeing me.

4. Outfits

Yunho and I would be slaying the outfit department in general ESPECIALLY when together. My man never looks a fool and neither will I.

I would however unironically wear the weirdest Ateez Merch (mainly Yunho bc obs). There is a picture of us out and I'm wearing an "I love Nerds" shirt(I am making one) but when you look at the heart it's just pictures of Yunho. I am Yunho's biggest fan and I will have it written across my chest. IDC. Is it his meme on a shirt? Wearing it to the grocery store.

I might be his biggest supporter but I am also Atiny's which means I am only buying fa- made. As much as I love the boys Atiny makes their merch with so much love and care how could I shop anywhere else?

5. Concerts

I would go because ATEEZ and also to support my cute lil guy. I would be in the nose bleeds. I'd feel uncomfortable if someone else paid for it so I would want to buy my own. I'd be in the nosebleeds because it's all vibes. I could fangirl in peace.

6. Dance Classes

As a couple, we would dance a lot. It could be going to dance classes or messing around in the studio. It would just be a thing. I'd be the one to film his dancing tiktoks- there would be a spike in the amount posted since we were always messing around. Mingi and WooYoung ft.

Costume Problems

Uta looked all over for a costume. There is an entire list of things the costume needed to be before she picked it. One that would look good on her. Something that would let her run around on stage. Nothing that would rip easily. It can’t be drowned out by all the lights. Nothing that would not be see thru in all the lights. Not cheap fabric that would rip. It had to be adjustable. She knew she wasn’t all that flashy in the chest department, so it might need to be taken in a bit. But that couldn’t ruin the costume. This was the list that she had to check through. Every costume in four stores looked through. Even with the high number of potential costumes, her list decimated them into the put back pile. Leaving every little for her to choose from.

In the end, she picked out a cute little costume. Red riding hood. It wasn’t too flashy, and it showed her normal amount of leg. Nothing out of the ordinary, really. It had spaghetti straps that were thin. But that was fine, as it came with a cape. One that Uta would throw out to use a red Uta jacket. Always supporting her merch to get others to buy more. It was such a simple thing for her to do.

Of course, Uta didn’t account for one thing. She got there out of the costume and tried it on. Trying to pick out what shoes she was going to wear on stage with them. Only for her father to show up. He was almost never home, just out drinking his money away.

“Hey,” she called, barely giving him a glance while looking over the shoe options. She could go black and have them pop out against her skin and the red rests. Or match it up with some red shoes. That might look good.

The broken, “What ARE you wearing?” Coming from behind here snapping her out of any choices.

Uta turned to see Shanks looking at her like she was crazy. “It’s a costume for my Halloween concert. I’ll be selling shirts with the outfit only at this one concert so I have-”

“You can’t wear that! You can see too much! No! No, this won’t do!” Shanks began babbling. He must have been really freaked out because he never babbled unless he was out of his mind. Even when super drunk, he managed to string together full sentences. It just went to prove where Rayleigh rubbed off on him while he was growing up.

“Sorry to break it to you, but I am. I already looked at the other options.” Uta said, crossing her arms.

That only had Shanks turning to look at her like a kicked puppy. “Uta! there will be men there! They will see you and fall in love!”

“Yeah and?”

“You can’t marry yet! You’re not old enough!”

Uta’s jaw dropped. Who said anything about marriage? Picking up one shoe she was deciding between, she threw it at him. “UGH! WHO WAS ASKING YOU!”

The shoe hit Shanks in the face, though he could have avoided it. He didn’t think about it. “But, but Uta!” He yelled, as Uta stormed away. Taking out his phone, he called Benn.

“Hello?”

“BENN EMERGENCY! UTA! MY BABY IS GONNA! I CAN’T BELIEVE IT’S HAPPENING!” Shanks yelled. Uta knew who he called and used the time to make her own phone call. It was a race to see who showed up first.

To her utter upset, both parties showed up at the same time. Benn and Yasopp showed up looking like they already knew he was being dramatic about all this. While Luffy and his friends showed up. Both Uta and Shanks began telling the to tell the other to listen to them. Both sides blinked, letting them yell.

When something caught her eye. A large white bear. He must be a mink. He looked to be just about hyperventilating. “Luffy, who’s-“

“Hello, miss Uta! I’m a fan of yours! You look really beautiful in the red dress!” The mink said, not bouncing a little in place.

“Bepo.” Luffy’s friend with the tattoos said. But it was too late. Uta turned to Shanks, looking smug, while the man looked pissed.

“I don’t get it,” Luffy said, breaking the growing tension. He looked between the two arguing.

“She’s too young to wear something that revealing!” “This is a costume. He’s being a creep!” They both yelled. Neither caring what the other said.

Luffy blinked, still not getting it. His friend stepped in, “Shanks is mad because he thinks that Uta is still his baby- “ “She is my baby!” “-while Uta wants to wear what she wants.”

Luffy thought about it for a minute. Tilting his head a bit. “Why can’t she wear it? Uta thinks really hard about what she wears and takes so long deciding.” Luffy asked, now turning to Shanks.

“She’s too young! Look how much skin is showing! What if some man sees her and thinks bad thoughts?” Shanks said, already getting a little pissed about it.

Bepo raised his hand. “Um! You don’t have to worry. The Uta protection squad is here to keep those kinds of guys out of the way. We get together and buy the tickets the moment her shows go on sale. So no one but us and genuine fans can get close. But we also point out to bouncers where someone’s acting strange.”

When Sable first met you through Mikaela she didn't really mind you. You were shy and didn't speak often, but that all changed after you met a couple more times.

She quickly came to the realization that you were a chatterbox and very impulsive. You would do reckless things before thinking. (And this carried on to the trials too).

Before You, Mikaela and Sable all got transported to the entity's realm you all would hang out, going shopping a lot. At first Sable didn't really like it, going shopping for cute clothes and perfumes, but after a bit she slowly got used to it. She especially got used to it when Mikaela went missing.

Sable knew that you were high maintenance as soon as you both started shopping together. She noticed all the cute and girly outfits you would get, the very specific perfumes you would get that smelled like coconut and a bit of vanilla.

But she also noticed that you loved some things like horror, gothic, etc. She noticed this when one day you suddenly ran off to a store, making her follow her. When you got into the store she saw you look around and quickly pick out a famous horror movie figure.

After a while you and her would get some matching gothic clothes and horror merch. She never thought twice about paying for the items. She even sometimes buys some cute things for you when she notices you looking. Sometimes she would decline to get you the item before buying it some time later as a surprise for you.

Now... Let's get to the entity's realm.

After Mikaela went missing you and Sable got closer, becoming close friends. Nothing more at the time.

Everything changed when you suddenly disappeared.

Sable was of course worried when Mikaela went missing, but she focused on helping you. When you disappeared she was extremely worried.

Sable searched for you for a while. When she couldn't find you she resorted to taking a perfume of yours and one of the cute plushies she got for you. She did this because the smell of coconut and vanilla reminded her so much of you, so she always had something that had that smell to comfort her.

When Sable go transported to the entity's realm she saw Mikaela first, and after talking for a moment Mikaela mentioned you were there too.

Sable immediately perked up and asked Mikaela to lead her to you. Mikaela didn't hesitate, leading her to your tent you had.

When Sable entired your tent she saw you wearing one of the horror movie shirts she bought for you. She quickly went to you and hugged you tightly, happy that she finally found you again.

You of course as well hugged her back, tightly embracing her and even tearing up a bit. Everything seemed much more bareable in the realm now.

The first time Sable got into a trial with you she immediately saw your impulsive tendencies appear. Sometimes you would try to get the flashlight save or the pallet stun to save a teammate, or you would try to get the killer's attention on you.

That worried her a lot, she was always worried you'd get hurt and get killed.

After her first trial with you she expressed her concerns with you, and you quickly got a little defensive. Suddenly she had kissed you, trying to calm you down (but it made you blush and squeal and overreact instead).

When you finally calmed down you two talked it out, listening to each other and understanding each other's concerns. She then confessed to you as well, before kissing your cheek, making you blush and squeal again.

Simme is Swedish and Venezuelan. His dad was Swedish but moved to Venezuela where he met Simme’s Mom and they had two kids before moving back to Sweden when Simme was ~3. Simme has credited his Mom’s insistence that they spoke Spanish at home as how he managed to keep the language!

His first ever single Como Este had a mix of Spanish and English lyrics and that blend has continued across three albums, but fans are still waiting for Simme to record a song in Swedish. Simme has blamed this on a lack of Swedish songwriters in L.A. (sad, but true!)

During Simme’s first tour (the Chaos tour!) his crew had an in-joke called ‘Stop! Hammer time!’ where they had to stop at any hardware store they passed on the road and buy a hammer. When the tour split into two buses it became a competition to find the most interesting novelty hammer and they started signing them and giving them to fans at stage door when the buses ran out of hammer space! (eventually this stopped when the label lawyers found out and got scared about liability)

Also on the Chaos Tour, since they didn't have a set tour schedule the merch t-shirts were left blank on the back and the crew would write on wherever they played each day making each one a collectors item (The rarest is the single one for 'Jimmy's House' which has never been sold, but signed shirts from 'LaGuardia Airport Lounge' and 'A Starbucks in Leeds' have hit five figures at auction!)

Simme wore a silver bracelet throughout the Honesty tour which he hasn’t confirmed was a gift from the Voice 2024 runner-up Alfonso Perez but it did appear shortly after they were seated together at multiple events and a photo leaked of them having an intimate kiss in a limo driving away from the AMAs.

Speaking of romantic entanglements, Simme attended a prestigious Swedish boarding school where he dated the Crown Prince of Sweden for nearly three years! They looked adorable together, but broke up after graduation so that the Prince could go into the army and Simme could move to L.A to pursue music.

It has been Noted by the fans that Simme gets less dressed on each album (a jacket on Simme, an unbuttoned shirt on HH, shirtless on ATN.) There is a running fan theory that album 4 which the fans have dubbed ‘the CENSORED album’ will feature Simme fully naked (with the title covering up enough to keep it decent!) staring at the camera.

And if the idea of fans naming albums feels unlikely, we have precedent! In an interview during the Honesty, Honestly press tour the interviewer commented that Simme was released in December 2023, and HH was dropping just over a year later in January 2025, Simme grinned and said: ‘And the next March 26!’. The fans latched onto this, referring to album 3 as And The Next so consistently that it ended up being the name chosen for the album! (which actually came out in June 2026, so only a few months late!)

On the bridge of Relentless Simme names twenty five cities, all of which were visited during the Chaos Tour. When this song is performed live, Simme always includes the name of the city he's performing in on the list (except for Portland, when he got mixed up and said Atlanta instead! Oops!)

Simme returned to his home country of Sweden towards the end of the Chaos Tour, but was unable to play there when he was touring Honesty, Honestly due to scheduling conflicts with Stockholm venues (boo!). The current ATN tour schedule doesn't have Sweden dates listed but there's plenty of time for more countries to be announced so watch this space!!!

this is a collection of my deepswim fanart, an original story comic i made with my iambic pentameter (rainworld x chonny jash) iterators. the text contains an introduction and entire telling of deepswim’s plot so far. each blurb (mostly) doesn’t relate to the images. the deepswim comic itself has a lot more in store, so reading this won’t spoil everything, but feel free to scroll if you’d rather experience it fresh (when i post it eventually). i’m very passionate about it, so onward ^_^💛⭐️!

DEEPSWIM OVERVIEW: desperation, underwater environments, brotherly bonding, and a lesson on life’s resilient beauty

it’s still quite a wip of a story, but it came to me in the summer of 2023 while dealing with acid reflux and other hellish health issues. the entire idea unfolded in my head when listening to Curicó by Kiltro for the first time, and i sketched + colored many pages to that single song looped for 6 hours straight the next day. it turned into a comic that became bigger than i expected!

HRT, MND, and SUL (rainworld hms) are staying in a beach house somehow and there’s a dock that looks out to a huge lake. something happens prior and SUL falls into the unknown ecosystem.

weak and now gauging his choices, he sinks to the seafloor in regret (which is conveniently covered in bubbleroot). on the shore, HRT, having heard SUL fall(?), begs MND to investigate below the surface. begrudgingly, MND accepts and donns a helmet i nicknamed an ‘airorb’ (made by Seas of course). I still don’t know why he didn’t bring two. the story’s rough around the edges but I still love it with all my h(ea)rt.

He finds SUL half-filled with water and unable to move. stuck laying along the bubbleroot floor and unable to use any more of it. MND panics, and lends his helmet to SUL. it works, but it seems like he’s already dead. MND pushes through his hopelessness, initiates cpr aanndd,,,,that’s how far the color has gotten.

however, as you can tell from the drawings above, that’s not the end of the story. the rest has been planned but not put down on paper. SUL is saved from the brink of death, gasping awake and aching all over. he helps MND use the bubbleroot (who hasn’t up to this point because he is strong willed and stubborn on the idea of [when he can breathe, i can too]) and they rest together. relieved and tired.

and then another character arrives! an eel lizard (with legs. both because of me forgetting and also lore) named ursula is upset by all the ruckus—and also acts as a metaphor for SUL’s guilt. a quarrel ensues!! stuff happens!! cool comic panel ideas arise!! and that’s what i have so far.

deepswim means a lot to me :]. it’s rough and a bit old, but I love it very much. Curicó by Kiltro is considered it’s themesong, and I’m so happy it is. i discovered the band slowly with the help of CheetahZ’s Serpent Sol map (i don’t want to get into all the drama so i’ll just leave it there), and am so thankful I did. Curicó really helped spur my thoughts on the comic’s atmosphere during the wonderful ‘get this idea down on paper!’ period of deepswim’s first pages on that fateful day.

Kiltro was my first concert, actually. i vividly remember trying to communicate ‘a warrior cats map’ as an answer to where i found their music when asked by the bassist while buying a limited edition merch shirt. i remember standing in the bar under a speaker during the show, watching the audience dance around me, and videoing almost the entire thing. and of course, the selfie with the lead singer Chris Bowers Castillo sits blue and framed on my desk to this day. I love all of their music and am so happy to have found them.

i know the reason why SUL fell off that dock. at the time of creating the comic, (and as mentioned briefly before) i was dealing with the aftermath of a nasty sickness, and my days were filled with the worst anxiety i’ve ever had because of it. it wasn’t specifically an eating disorder (well, by definition it might’ve been), but my morning acid reflux tricked my anxiety into thinking my health was in danger if i ate anything until around noon. things got better when i recognized the cause (anxiety), and mom bought me propel electrolyte water to help me recover. keep in contact with your body, kids.

deepswim was the hyperfixation i needed to relieve my stress and express myself in a really hard time. a lot of my hopelessness was relieved with this comic as an outlet, and i’m so very thankful. i was drawing the lesson of nature’s beauty as i learned it myself, and i think that’s really special.

deepswim’s entirety was me retreating inward on my interests and combining things I loved most, and along the way having SUL discover the beauty of life in his own troubled time. it was a reminder of nature, emotional resilience, and an experiment in graphic design that i hold near and dear to my heart ^_^💛

hi, thanks for all you do for the Noah Reid/ Schitt's Creek fandom! I am loving your Noahvember posts. Do you have any suggestions for how to purchase Noah's music in a way that will get him some money? I have been streaming it but I know streaming is not the best for the artists themselves. According to his website, his CDs have been sold out for many months (except for Adjustments which I ordered and am awaiting). Does he have music for sale at his shows? Thanks for any ideas - no rush for a response.

It's a rough world out there for anyone who creates and sells things - it seems like everyone makes money except the artists.

The best way to support Noah (and other musicians) is to buy albums directly from him, either at his shows (he had vinyl available on tour, but not CDs, I think) or online.

After that, we're all left with streaming as the main option. Not all streaming services pay the same amount, so if you really want to support artists, consider switching away from Spotify, Amazon and Youtube (which pay a criminally low amount) to Tidal or Apple Music, which pay 2-3 times more (but still a ridiculously small amount). The best option is actually Napster, which I had no idea still existed, but apparently it pays the most to artists. You can also consider buying Noah's albums through your digital music store (like iTunes or Google Play) and then streaming them as I think Noah gets more money from those sales.

Once upon a time, I would have recommended Bandcamp, but a) Noah never had his music on there and b) they've just been purchased by Songtradr, so expect them to be strip-mined for venture capital profits in short order.

Buying tickets and merch also supports artists, so even if you are only able to stream Noah's music, you could consider buying merch as an enjoyment "tax" to support him. According to this article, the revenue from 1 t-shirt=8,750 streams. Perhaps you need a toque or some socks?
