As much as I like a reconciliation between Jason and Bruce, the tragedy between the son and father is so much more painful and impactful.

The tragedy is that they love each other so much but can never come in terms with the person the other is now. Bruce could not kill the joker and Jason can’t accept that. Jason kills and Bruce cannot accept that.
