Fandom: Mouthwashing Rating: Teen Characters: Anya, Jimmy, Curly, Daisuke, Swansea Tags: One Shot, Alternate Universe, Post-Canon, Canon-Typical Violence, Past Sexual Assault, Implied/Referenced Abuse, Unplanned Pregnancy, Hurt No Comfort, Cannibalism, Euthanasia, Assisted Suicide
Summary: Anya's second-worst nightmare comes true. Stuck in the medical room during a power outage, she is forced to make a fast decision she will always regret.
Based on another story, Tongue Scraping by VictimX. This takes place directly afterwards.
A bit about this: though there is a scene involving passive cannibalism, technically, it’s less disturbing out of context. Still verges on “dead dove do not eat” territory, and as with my other MW fics there are dark themes so keep the tags in mind before reading.
Jimmy isn’t trying to get out of consequences again here. More that he’s resigned himself to live like this, has had a month to think things over, but when he and Anya see the opportunity to end his suffering on her terms in a less traumatizing way, they both take it, with him silently encouraging her to do something he’s desensitized to. He’s also well-aware that the crew are probably going to eat his flesh in order to survive and wants to make that sacrifice if it means they’re able to make it back home. So Anya gets a strange sort of closure in the end, but doesn’t leave medical without being haunted by the act. The whole situation is more or less “something awful we don’t want to do by any means but essentially have to in order to get out alive,” which is the impression I got from themes the entire Dental Hygiene series presents.
I was thinking of the song Euthanasia by Will Wood while drafting this fic. Swansea’s “good riddance” line towards the end is a direct reference to Graham Chapman’s eulogy. He strikes me as someone who would enjoy dark humor, so it seemed like a fitting quote to interpolate here.

Rating: E
Pairings: Meredith Grey/Derek Shepherd
An assailant from her past renders Meredith Grey temporarily deaf with her jaw wired shut. Derek traces the less visible damage that led to someone trying to silence her, and finds himself at the root. She can’t shake the belief that he’s only at her side out of obligation; once she recovers, he’ll resent her for the time he spent away from the NIH. Neither of them can answer the true question: Is this is a six-week truce, or will their skill at non-verbal conversation will keep their marriage from shattering with the silence?

How Concerned Citizens Drove a Neo-Nazi Out of Rural Maine
Christopher Pohlhaus planned to build a fascist training compound in the woods of rural Maine. The local journalists, veterans, lumberjacks, and policymakers weren't having it.
Pohlhaus, 37, is a former U.S. marine, an itinerant tattoo artist, and a hardcore white-supremacist influencer. He is loud and hostile, and proud to be both. His voice is pitched surprisingly high, and he has a slight Southern drawl. He has a large body and small bald head; a blue-black tattoo crawls up the right side of his face, from his chin to his forehead. Over the years, Pohlhaus has collected thousands of social media followers, who know him by his nickname: Hammer.
Hammer had been living in Texas for a few years when, in March 2022, he bought the land in Maine. He told his followers that he was going to use it to build a haven, operational center, and training ground for white supremacists.
