3.120 Joyous occasion
I woke up, revving with excitement about the day's festivities. Today, we celebrated that blessed day Sophia Aguilar came into the world. Regardless of the circumstance, I was beyond grateful her mother chose to give birth. And now, as Sophia Murillo, we'd also open our home and welcome family and friends for the first time. The icing on the cake would be announcing our new family member. There was nothing about this day that was not joyous. Even the weather was perfect. True, every day in San Sequoia seemed to be perfect, but I couldn't have asked for a better first day of summer. The warm temperature, accompanied by a cool breeze, was perfect for our outdoor festivities.
One by one, our guests trickled in, starting with Rashidah, then Less, Maira, Shirley, and Mama. Shirley was brimming with excitement because it was also her birthday and she couldn't wait to be big, she said. I hadn't known her long, but it was crazy to me how fast children grew up. Actually, all the little girls in my life were grown or near grown now. Chi Chi's daughter, Luna, was a grown woman. Orion, our neighbor, was a teenager, and now Shirley. Wow. Even the little sims in my life were females. Thank Watcher for Dub. I couldn't wait for him and Maia to be our neighbors.
Alessia arrived upset, and I assumed she was still mad about us leaving the bar so abruptly. But it was her pregnancy that had her face all frowned up. She loved Jace and was eager to create a life with him, but children were not part of that equation. I was kind of relieved to hear her sounding more like herself, but I hated she wasn't looking forward to having a baby. If only she knew what Sophia and I went through to get to where we were, maybe she'd appreciate what she accidentally walked into.
As she complained about the changes in her body and being sick all the time, Mama smiled at me as she slipped past us and went into the house. That was weird, so I ditched Less' pity party to go after her. I found her in the kitchen, standing in front of the sink. At first, I thought she was waiting for the tea maker to brew, but she was just standing there staring at nothing. Between her arriving without Dwayne and now this weird behavior, I knew something serious was up. I needed to get started on Sophia's cake anyway, so I gathered my ingredients and tools and got started.
"Is Dwayne running late?" I asked, casually.
"No. Umm...he's not coming."
"Oh. What's going on with you two?"
She sighed. Even with her back toward me, I knew her eyes rolled, and her face wrinkled into a scowl.
"That child... I guess she told you."
"She didn't know the details, but she said she heard you arguing. What happened?"
She hesitated, shifting her weight and sighing some more.
"He's fed up with me."
My imagination formed all kinds of answers to my next question. Most of them involved my dad.
"Why?"
"Because I haven't given him an answer yet."
I almost dropped the egg I was about to crack.
"He proposed?!"
I was oddly excited but also frustrated. I wouldn't say Dwayne and I were friends, but I didn't mind him now. It is what it is, you know? He was the one who made my mom happy. Bonus points for him understanding the situation and being respectful of everyone's feelings. Plus, he really was a good dude. I let all that drama go a while back, so he was welcome in my life if he chose to be part of it. With that in mind, I didn't appreciate Mama stringing him along all that time.
"A while ago," she said. "I wasn't ready then."
"Sounds like you're still not," I spat.
"I don't appreciate your tone, Luca."
"I'm sorry, Mama, but I just don't get it. Everyone has moved on. Even Dad! Why are you still waffling on this? Don't you love him?"
"Of course I do!"
"So what gives??"
"If I knew, I wouldn't be in this position! I want to say yes, but something inside won't let me!"
I didn't mean to upset her and relented.
"Okay. I'm sorry. I just want you to be free of this, Mama."
"That makes two of us. Especially now. I need to get out of that house."
All the alarms began blaring as I entered into protect mode.
"Is it that Jason?? What did he do?"
"Jace. It's not him. It's Alessia. If you and Sophia decided to move back home, I'd be totally fine and comfortable with it. But Alessia is different now, and I'm not comfortable living with them. I feel like a third wheel in my own house. How bad would it be if I accepted the proposal just to get away from them?"
"I'm not even gonna answer that. Besides, you know she's gonna need help with the baby."
"And Sophia won't?"
"Sophia is prepared. Less never wanted this."
"True."
I heard the front door open and shut and wanted to see who arrived.
"Can you finish this?"
"Sure, go ahead. I got it."
I found Dad in the living room, staring out our beautiful window. He turned around when he heard me, and I noticed he shaved down his beard. I smirked at the thought of my parents doing everything they could to keep from looking as old as they were. When I reach their age, I'd like to think I'd embrace the process, but I had no idea what it was like, so we'll see what I do.
"This is such a nice view," he said.
"The best," I replied.
"And the house is gorgeous. You did it all yourselves?"
I laughed at the question hidden between the lines.
"Yes, we did. Mama was not invited this time."
"Good for you. I'm so proud and happy for you two."
In the corner of my eye, I saw Sophia had finally come out of the bathroom and headed upstairs to put on her makeup. She had so much hair and always took her time bending every strand to her will. It was no wonder she always looked amazing.
"You wanna know a secret?" I asked.
I waited until I heard her enter our room to tell him.
"Sophia is pregnant," I whispered. "Mama hasn't seen her yet, so don't say anything."
His eyes watered just as I imagined they would, and he embraced me, squeezing tight.
"Congratulations, son. I am so glad to hear that. My heart is so full!"
"Thanks, Dad. We didn't want to say anything, but it's been quite the journey."
"Oh no. Really?"
"I'll tell you about it someday, but it's behind us now."
"That's right. The little one is here, and it is already so loved."

Rhys Week Day 8: Free Day
Birthdays and Cakes
Feyre tried to be as quiet as possible she threw a robe over her nightgown and sneaked out of the bedroom. It was hard enough to wiggle out of Rhys's death grip without waking him up.
She quietly opened the door of Nyx bedroom and looked inside, checking if he still slept. Feyre wasn't surprised when she found him already sitting in his bed, grinning at her. She promised Nyx that they would wake up earlier this morning to bake a cake for Rhys, for his birthday. That's also how she got Nyx to sleep earlier the evening before.
"Good morning, sweetheart." Feyre whispered. He laughed and jumped up, running to Feyre and hugged her legs. She picked him up, peppering his face with kisses. "We have to quiet, okay?" Feyre said. "We don't want to wake Daddy up before we are done, right?"
Nyx nodded. "Can we bake now?"
Feyre smiled. "Yes, we can bake now." He threw his arms around Feyres neck, his wings twitching in excitement. His wings always gave his mood away. Cassian was the first to say he'd train that with him but Feyre thought it was adorable.
She winnowed them down to the kitchen, taking a chair with her free hand and putting it front of the counter. Nyx was already eyeing the ingredients that Nuala and Cerridwen left out for them when she put him on the chair. She pulled out the recipe, that Elain and the shadow twins wrote for her, out of her the pocket of her robe. "Alright." Feyre sighed, taking a bowl and placed it in front of Nyx. She let Nyx pour the ingredients in the bowl that she measured. Cracking the eggs she guided Nyx hands with her own. He always watched wide-eyed and seeing his excitement, Feyre prayed that nothing would go wrong. She couldn't cook and she never tried herself at baking. She was grateful for Elain and the twins that they wrote everything down, step for step.
Nyx complained when she started to mix everything together, wanting to do it himself. She used that time to quickly make Nyx a snack, because she knew that his arms would grow tired soon and she'd take over again.
When he told her that he couldn't mix anymore, she pulled back his chair and gave him his snack. From his spot on the chair he watched as Feyre continued.
"We're baking a cake, Mama!" he said excitedly.
"I know, baby. You did so great, I'm proud of you." she replied. She was sure that Nyx would be sick of hearing that, so often she told him. She couldn't keep herself from telling him, she was incredibly proud of her son and she wished her parents would have told her when she was a child. Or a teenager, Feyre thought back to the years where she went to the woods to hunt. She looked at Nyx, who smiled brightly at what she just told him.
Shortly after, Nuala entered the kitchen. Nyx told her about the cake as Feyre poured the batter into a form. Nuala listened, smiling as he told her everything. Keeping every little detail in.
Feyre looked at the clock. Even if everything went as planned, they were a little behind the time Feyre had planned. She felt Rhys stirring through the bond. It wouldn't be long until he was awake.
"I can take care of that." Nuala said. Feyre nodded, they were as good as done. It was just about baking now and Nuala was about to make breakfast, so she was in the kitchen either way. "Thank you." Feyre said, picking Nyx up again.
"No!" Nyx squirmed.
"Do you not want to wake up Daddy?" Feyre asked. As he frowned up at her, she held back a smirk. She knew waking up Rhys was more important to Nyx than the cake. It was their tradition. Feyre and Nyx woke Rhys up on his birthday and Rhys and Nyx woke up Feyre on her birthday.
They went up again and Feyre already got Nyx ready for the day. She stayed with him as he brushed his teeth and then she brushed his hair and dressed him. He looked adorable in a shirt that was similar to what Rhys was usually wearing.
When she felt Rhys waking up, Feyre went to their bedroom door. "Ready?" she asked Nyx.
"Yes!" he said, already jumping up and down in participation. She opened the door and Nyx was racing inside, climbing on the bed and throwing himself on Rhys.
Rhys made an oof sound and then Nyx yelled "Happy Birthday, Daddy!" her mate chuckled and hugged Nyx. Feyre smiled as she watched her boys. Rhys cuddling Nyx and Nyx babbling and laughing and repeating "Happy Birthday!"
Feyre joined them, sitting on her side of the bed and watching them. Rhys looked up at her, smiling. "Good morning, Feyre darling."
Feyre grinned as she leaned down. "Happy Birthday, my love." she whispered and kissed him. Nyx deemed it too long and squeezed his hand between their faces, breaking them apart. Rhys chuckled when he saw Nyx's frown. Nyx leaned into Feyre and she pulled him on her lap. Rhys took the chance to sit up, leaning against the beds headboard.
"Do you want to give it daddy now?" Feyre whispered to Nyx.
"Yes!" he said. Rhys raised an eyebrow in question. Feyre grinned and pulled a piece of paper out of the pocket realm. She gave it Nyx who excitedly gave it Rhys. Nyx had painted his hands and pressed them on the paper a few days ago. He was so happy about the result that he decided it was the gift he wanted to give his father on his birthday. After he painted a rainbow on the paper and Feyre helped him write "Happy Birthday" Nyx gave Feyre the picture to keep it until today.
Rhys smile grew wider as he looked at it. Nyx giggled but suddenly he turned serious. Tugging on Feyres robe. "What is it?" she asked.
"Mama." he said.
"What?" she asked.
"Mama." he repeated, putting a hand on her cheek. Feyre leaned down and he whispered in her ear "The cake."
The cake. Shit. The cake. Fuck. She sat Nyx on Rhys's lap and jumped up. "I'll be back in a minute." she said and hurried out. Ran barefoot down the stairs, to the kitchen. She pushed open the door and almost collided with Nuala. "Sorry." Feyre breathed. "I forgot the cake-" Nuala was here. Of course. She was here and looked after the cake. How could Feyre forget? But it wasn't Nuala who worked on the cake, it was Elain.
Elain who smiled at her. "I'm sorry but I already made the cream. Don't worry I won't be decorating that's your and Nyx' job, I just thought Nyx may lose his patience while smoothing the frosting. It takes a little while."
Feyre let out a relieved breath and hugged her sister. She was surprised for a moment but quickly hugged her back. "Thank you." Feyre said. "I completely forgot until Nyx just reminded me."
Elain giggled. "It's not the first time."
Feyre laughed. "That was one time."
"You burnt soup!" Elain laughed.
Feyre rolled her eyes but echoed her laugh. "And it was the last time I burnt food."
"Today was almost the second time." she said, a smirk on her face.
Feyre snorted. "Shut up." she said, turning around to go to her mate and son again. "Thank you, Lainey."
Elain rolled her eyes at the name but smiled and said. "You're welcome, Fey."
Feyre winnowed into her bedroom again. Rhys and Nyx were laughing when she entered. They both looked up at her at the same time. "Breakfast!" she said, nodding at Nyx. He grinned and crawled to her. She helped him climb from the bed and he took her hand. "Come, daddy!" he said.
He groaned as he stood up. "I'm coming." Feyre took a quick peek out of the window. It was raining. Then her eyes went back to Rhys, who slightly limped. His knee hurt.
"I'm fine." he said when he reached them, kissing Feyres cheek.
"I know you are." Feyre said.
As they walked in the dining room, most of their family was already there. Except Azriel, who followed soon after. Even if Rhys told them that it wasn't necessary, they all hugged him, Cassian picking Rhys up while at it, which made Nyx laugh. Though Amren stayed at her spot and said "Happy Birthday, boy."
The rest of the day was just being around the family. It was nice seeing Rhys so relaxed and Nyx had the time of his life playing with his aunts and uncles. Especially when Cassian started throwing him in the air and catching him. Nyx thought it was hilarious, though Feyres heart stopped everytime he was in the air. But everytime he threw Nyx up, Nyx wings twitched as if he'd try to fly. Rhys looked extremely proud every time that happened. They started teaching him the basics not that long ago and he made great progress.
It wasn't until noon Feyre finally could get ready and dress herself. Making herself presentable.
In the afternoon she sneaked away with Nyx, decorating the cake, finishing it. She let Nyx do it and after she lit the candles, Cassian came in and carried the cake, as Feyre picked up Nyx and held the door open for Cassian.
Rhys smiled when they put the cake down. "Wish!" Nyx said and they all laughed. It took a few seconds until Rhys leaned forward and blew out the candles, then his eyes wandered to Nyx and Feyre. Nyx clapped happily.
Feyre cuddled in beside Rhys, laying her head on his shoulder as Nyx told him about how he made the cake.
I am incredibly grateful to have you. You and Nyx. I love you. He said down the bond.
Feyre smiled. I love you, too.

The Earth is Online Chapter 17.1
Tang Mo’s brain turned quickly and in almost an instant he understood. The one speaking with him wasn’t the turkey egg at all. It wasn’t even a turkey. It could be some kind of Black Tower creature, but it was more likely…
“Are you human?”
The male voice was silent for a moment. “Yes, I am human. Are you also human?”
Tang Mo said, “I am.”
Neither of them spoke again.
The car was stopped at the side of the road, the dazzling sunset shining into the car’s interior. The white egg’s whole body gleamed with golden yellow. From time to time, text appeared on it, but Tang Mo could see only a few words and a bunch of corrupted text.
His bigger concern was now the person speaking from within.
He thought for a bit and decided to first show his sincerity before questioning the other party.
He began describing his situation: “I’m currently holding a white egg in my hand and your voice is transmitting from inside. Are you somebody who’s been trapped inside the egg or is there some other circumstance?”
The man’s voice was steady and serene. “I haven’t been trapped in an egg. I’m also holding an egg in my hand and your voice is also transmitting from inside.“ He paused, then additionally said, “It’s a turkey egg.”
Tang Mo’s mind moved. “You must be someone from A-Country. [1] Then, did you also just come out of the Black Tower’s first floor? I got this egg from a Black Tower monster. It’s a turkey egg.”
“Me too. I got a white turkey egg from a Black Tower creature.”
At this time, the two of them thoroughly understood. The turkey egg in their hands was similar to a cellphone and could let them connect and speak with a stranger they had never met before.
Since it was like this, Tang Mo now wanted to know how far away the turkey egg could connect.
“Where are you?”
“Which city are you in?”
Different mouths spoke with the same voice, [2] causing both sides to be stunned.
The other party was the first to respond. “I’m in the capital.”
The capital? The capital was a thousand kilometers from S-City. It was so far away, and the turkey egg could also immediately connect. Did it really function as a cellphone?
Tang Mo said, “I’m in S-City.”
Tang Mo bowed his head and looked at the turkey egg in his hand with a vague idea.
For some reason, the egg in his hand seemed to be in a damaged state. Tang Mo didn’t at all think the kind of random tapping he’d done just now was capable of breaking the turkey egg. What had actually been cracked by tapping wasn’t the turkey egg, but instead his steering wheel.
Things from the Black Tower weren’t that frail.
The probability that the turkey egg had been broken by his tapping wasn’t even twenty percent, while the probability that it had originally been damaged was eighty percent or more.
As a result of the turkey egg being damaged, Tang Mo didn’t know what the egg’s ultimate use was. The text on it only had three lines of words without corrupted letters. This included –
[Quality: Rare.]
This was a rare item.
If the Black Tower was really only playing a game, it was also fair and reasonable for it to grant players items like this. Rare items in any game were all extremely precious. Tang Mo didn’t know if his damaged turkey egg would be usable again, but maybe he could find out its true utility from out of the mouth of this player in the capital.
A rare item couldn’t only be used for communication. Before the earth went online, human technology could already video chat with the whole world. There was no reason the mysterious Black Tower could only do this much. Since both of them were turkey eggs, looked similar, and could even communicate, then, eight or nine out of ten, their utility was also the same.
Tang Mo arranged his next words. “When I played the first floor of the Black Tower’s tower attack game, the big mole in the Black Tower gave me this egg as a reward. This egg is very hard. I tried to smash it using a car’s steering wheel, a stone, and even a few other hard things. A crack was smashed into my steering wheel by it, but it didn’t break open.”
First, he declared as much of his information as possible to make the other side feel that the both of them were now sharing intelligence.
Tang Mo continued to say, “The big mole that gave me the turkey egg said that we humans are unable to hatch it. I originally thought that only I, alone, got this egg and could directly use it. I didn’t think you also had it. But this side doesn’t explain that using this egg requires another person or that both sides can communicate. Does your side have any clues?”
A deep male voice very decisively replied, “No.”
Tang Mo: “...”
Have you ever chatted like this? How was this person not tricked into saying anything at all!?
When a normal person has a friendly exchange with others, shouldn’t they also take the initiative to declare the information they have?
Tang Mo was silent for a long time before he again continued trying to worm out information. “How did you connect to me? At that time, I first heard your voice. Then I just replied.”
This already didn’t count as intelligence. If he wasn’t willing to say even that, Tang Mo wouldn’t again hold any hope for tricking him into speaking.
“A few lines of words appeared on the egg and I tried to study it. Right as I used my finger to rap on it for a third time, it suddenly flickered with blinding gold light.” The man was finally willing to reveal a bit of information. “Now when I speak, the egg continuously emits a very faint golden glow.”
Tang Mo suddenly remembered that when he tapped for a third time just now, the egg also seemed to flash. In the end, it wasn’t brightly lit. Then the man’s voice was transmitted over and the glow also disappeared.
Tang Mo said, “Then do you know how to end the call?”
“I’ll give it a try.”
The both of them tried for a long time. Suddenly, the sound broke off. Ten seconds passed before a male voice sounded. “Just now, I squeezed the egg with both my hands and the call was terminated.”
Tapping three times could open a call and squeezing the egg with both hands could close it?
Tang Mo said, “Then you close it first and I’ll give it a try.”
“Okay.”
Tang Mo tried it out. He could also open and close a call at any time. The two of them tested it repeatedly and found that no matter which party, they only needed to tap their egg three times to start the call. Either party squeezing the egg could end the call.
As they conducted experiments, both sides had total tacit understanding, neither of them saying any superfluous words while sharing as much information as possible.
When the egg had been more or less completely studied by them, a strange feeling welled up in Tang Mo’s heart. He and the other owner of the turkey egg collaborated very well, as if they had trained their cooperation many times. It was very agreeable. Because of this, Tang Mo couldn’t help but feel the appreciation of one talented person toward another. It was just a pity. If this person had been a bit easier to get information out of, he would have even better feelings toward them.
From start to finish, this person didn’t say a single piece of crucial intelligence. He was obviously hiding something. Tang Mo knew the other party was hiding something and also knew that the other party had noticed his probing.
Now the things that the two of them could say had already been said. If neither was willing to reveal their true information, then it was meaningless to go on speaking. For example, Tang Mo couldn’t say that his turkey egg was damaged. In that case, he would be at a disadvantage. The other party was also unwilling to declare useful information. At this moment, he was on guard against Tang Mo, this stranger he didn’t know very well.
The man’s voice was always steady and somewhat pleasant to listen to. “Is there something you still want to say?”
Tang Mo said, “I still have one final question.”
“What?”
“Why was the first thing you said when you began speaking not ‘hello’ and not ‘hi’ [3] but instead…’Momo?’”
The air was quiet. Tang Mo vaguely felt that there was something wrong, but ultimately didn’t understand where the problem was until the turkey egg transmitted a low laugh. For the first time, the man’s voice was tinged with a smile.
“So it turns out you don’t even know what this egg is called, is that right?”
Tang Mo: “...”
There are some words you should keep in your heart, okay! Give him a bit of face and don’t say it out loud, ah!
Tang Mo already knew that the man was purposely guarding against him and also knew that the other party understood he had an information deficit. But now it had been clearly and openly said out loud…he felt slightly uncomfortable in his heart and felt that he had fallen to a disadvantage. However, he also felt that the cold and detached relationship of mutually guarding against each other that the two of them had always had, because of this clarification, seemed to have become a bit closer. At least, they weren’t enemies.
“This egg is called ‘Momo,’ so when I saw it glow, I subconsciously called ‘Momo’ once.”
Tang Mo lightly said, “My name is Mo. How should I address you?”
The man instantly went silent, only then realizing he had just called such an intimate name so many times.
After a long time, he said, “My surname is Fu.”
Tang Mo said, “Then, if that’s all?”
“En. Goodbye.”
“Goodbye.”
Once the call had ended, Tang Mo put the turkey egg back in his pocket. His finger rapped on the steering wheel with a ‘da da da.’
First, the egg was called Momo. This shouldn’t have anything to do with his name. It was only a coincidence that it was called this.
Second, this Mr. Fu in the capital was extremely smart and also had a very guarded heart. The probability of him worming information out of the other party was extremely low, so much so that it was likely that their first time communicating would also be their last. Their conversation didn’t have any benefit and both sides had perceived that the other end of the turkey egg was a bad person to go against. Since it was like this, there was no reason to connect again.
The rare item turkey egg in Tang Mo’s hand was like a hot potato. He really wanted to use it, but he simply didn’t know its function. He also didn’t know if the egg had been damaged to the point of being unusable.
As for getting information out of that man’s mouth…
Tang Mo already held no hope. Unless there was some kind of accident and the other party had no choice but to share information with him, it was absolutely impossible for this person to relent. [4]
If they swapped places, Tang Mo also wouldn’t share the rare item’s information with a stranger. Having an item like this, he’d already hate that he was unable to hide it away, undiscovered by anyone else, for the sake of achieving a surprise victory. Taking the initiative to tell information? Tang Mo wasn’t so foolishly kind. [5]
Tang Mo sighed, and continued driving to find North Jing Middle School.
[PREV] [TOC] [NEXT]
Translation Notes:
[1] I can’t remember if I mentioned it before, but A-Country is pretty obviously China. I translated A国人 as Chinese person last chapter for the remarks on Momo because it was a very specific reference but will continue to use A-Country the same way I've used 'S-City' etc.
[2] 异口同声 - idiom figuratively meaning to speak in unison
[3] He actually says ‘你好’ (hello) and ‘喂’ (greeting for when you answer the phone), but English doesn’t have an equivalent so I used ‘hi’ instead.
[4] 松口 - which figuratively means to relent but literally means to loosen the mouth (release what’s in the mouth). Both meanings are applicable here.
[5] He actually uses ‘傻白甜’ here again, meaning ‘foolish white sweet.’ This is the phrase he used to describe Li Wen earlier.

Fridays never seemed to come soon enough. You looked forward to the beginning of the weekend as much as the next person, but over the last few months, Friday nights took on new meaning for you. You moved to the trailer park a little less than a year ago, wanting to buy a small place of your own and start making a home for yourself. It wasn’t perfect, but it wasn’t expensive, and it was only a ten-minute drive from your office where you’d just secured a promotion. Roberta, the manager, helped you make it feel like home right away, insisting on going with you to pick out paint samples and providing copies of menus for the best take-out in the area.
Before long, Roberta introduced you to the trailer park’s resident certified genius, Mary Adler. Mary and Roberta spent Saturday mornings with you when you were free, which unfortunately, was pretty much all the time. You played games, sang karaoke, and even let Mary’s one-eyed cat Fred come over. He took a liking to your swinging chair in the living room, and if Mary couldn’t find him at home, odds were he somehow squeezed through your window and ended up in that chair.
Another two months had passed, though, before you met Mary’s uncle and guardian, Frank. You came to learn that Mary stayed with Roberta every Friday night because “Frank needs time to be an adult” and she was not allowed to come back to the house until noon on Saturdays. This information made you feel like Frank must be some kind of sad, perpetual fuckboy. You were right about the sad part, not so much about the latter. One morning while Mary played with your watercolors, Roberta let slip - ironically over a cup of tea - that Frank did have the occasional hookup, but usually, he drank himself sleepy on Friday nights and just needed the time to himself. He worked himself to the bone as a boat mechanic, often late into the night because it was too hot to do some jobs during the day. Frank took Mary in when she was just a baby after his sister, her mother, tragically committed suicide. He spent the majority of his scarce free time with Mary, so when Mary was still a toddler, Roberta offered the Friday night deal. Frank countered that he would do any repairs in the trailer park for free, but she refused to let him do that work without pay, saying he deserved to have a life, too.
She also informed you that Frank was a former philosophy professor, single, and very attractive, especially if you were into the rugged thing. You rolled your eyes with an amused exhale and took another sip of your tea. You’d be lying if you said your interest wasn’t piqued. Mary then shouted over her shoulder, confirming that she’d been listening to your entire conversation, “Frank is great, but he’s a grump. Good luck cracking that egg.” You snorted, nearly spitting out your tea, and she went back to reading your color theory book to Fred.
With that, you heard a sharp rap at the door. You set your tea down on the kitchen table, curious who your visitor might be. You didn’t know anyone else in the trailer park, or in town, really. You opened the door, taking in the sight of possibly - no, definitely - the most handsome man you’d ever seen. You quickly guessed it was Frank, judging by the grease smeared on his quite large hands. His eyes, though tired, had the same bright look as Mary’s, and he had the most perfectly imperfect fluffy hair and overgrown stubble.
“Good morning,” he said with a sweet, closed-mouthed smile. “Is Mary here?”
You had to remind yourself to breathe. Stammering, you opened the door wider, gesturing inside. “Hi, y-yes. She is!” Why am I like this? “She’s just painting with Fred. Please, come in.” You moved aside so he could fit his broad shoulders through the doorframe and then held out your hand. “You must be Frank. I’m Y/N. Mary is just wonderful.” You smiled at him, feeling the heat rise in your cheeks.
He took your hand in both of his, gentler than you’d expected. “I’m sorry. Yes, I’m Frank. It’s great to meet you, finally.” He smiled wide for the first time and you were certain you’d pass out. Who LOOKS like this? “And thank you, she really is wonderful. I couldn’t do it without Roberta. She’s family.” He smiled and waved at Roberta, who was looking at you over the lip of her mug.
Mary didn’t even bother to turn around and face Frank. “What are you doing here, Frank? It’s only 11. I have a whole ‘nother hour with my friends.” You tried to keep your laugh quiet, covering your mouth with your hand and shaking your head.
“Well, excuse me for thinking you might like to go out on the boat with me this morning. I guess I’ll go by myself.”
Mary jumped up from the floor, scrambling to clean up your paints and books. “Can Y/N and Roberta come?”
Frank crouched down to meet Mary’s eyes. “Of course they can, if they’d like.” He looked back at you over his shoulder, trying to gauge your interest, then turning back to his niece. “But do you remember what I told you?”
You could see that Mary was making a conscious effort not to roll her eyes. “You told me that my adult friends have adult lives that include adult responsibilities, and they might not always be available to spend time with me.”
“And?” he looked at her expectantly.
“And I need to invite them to do things without assuming they will do them.” She couldn’t hold back her eye roll any longer, but she made sure not to let Frank see. “Roberta, Y/N, would you both like to join us on the boat today?”
You were amazed by the exchange taking place in front of you, able to see where some of Mary’s brains and tenacity came from. The conversation between the two flowed so easily, playful yet intelligent. It was clear that Frank treated Mary not as a child, but as a person, and you chided yourself internally for thinking that was kinda hot.
Shaking yourself out of your mildly inappropriate thoughts, you responded. “I’d love to come, Mary.” You smiled at her, bending over to help her pick up the last of the paints from the floor. “Roberta?”
Roberta gave you a look and you just knew she planned this somehow. “I actually do have some of those adult responsibilities to handle today, but thank you for inviting me.” You sent a glare in her direction, quick but no less scathing. “Maybe next time.” She winked at you before washing out her mug and saying her goodbyes.
You spent the whole rest of the day and night with Frank and Mary, doing everything from building sandcastles to cooking dinner together. Mary eventually fell asleep in your lap as you were watching Oliver & Company, Frank’s favorite Disney film that had become Mary’s, too. “An underrated classic,” they told you in unison.
You helped Frank put Mary to bed, a task made easier after such a tiring day. “I guess I should get going.” You stood awkwardly in the small kitchen, unsure of yourself and painfully aware of how close your hand was to Frank’s resting on the counter.
“Yeah, I have a job early in the morning.” He looked down at his shoes, unable to look you in the eye, and you wondered if he hadn’t found your company as enjoyable as you’d found his.
“Listen, I don’t know if you’ve been to Ferg’s? The little bar down the road? I go every Friday night just to relax and have a few beers. Maybe you’d like to come with me next weekend?”
Is he asking me on a date? You could feel your heartbeat racing. The look on your face must not have matched the excitement you felt at the prospect of spending time alone with the dreamy, kind, sarcastic man in front of you.
He felt like an idiot when you hesitated to answer. He clearly read everything wrong. He had to fix this. “It’s a good place to meet people, you know? I know you’re fairly new to the area, so if you’re looking for more local friends, it’s a good place to start.” He winced, hoping you couldn’t sense his embarrassment at thinking that you would want to go on a date with him.
You swallowed, trying not to let your disappointment show outwardly. Of course he’s not interested in me. Stupid. “Oh, yeah! That would be great, Frank. What time?”
Frank let out a breath he didn’t realize he’d been holding, relieved that you didn’t seem offended by his offer. “How’s 7? I’ll pick you up? We can walk over together.”
And that’s how Fridays came to mean so much to you. Almost every Friday for the last six months, Frank met you at your door and you walked to Ferg’s together. Frank told you it would be a good place to make new friends, but you paid no mind to the other patrons. You only had eyes for each other, yet neither of you could see it, even though Roberta pointed out (repeatedly) that neither of you had taken anyone else home in all that time.
The more time you spent with Frank, the more certain you were that God was real and your life was His favorite trainwreck reality TV series. Even if you could have customized a dream man Build-A-Bear style, Frank still would blow your creation out of the water. He was smart and funny, not to mention an adoring parent to Mary, to whom you grew more attached each day. He was kind and thoughtful, talented and hard-working. Although he was a grouch, as Mary would say, he always was sweet to you. He took a genuine interest in anything you had to say, whether you were venting about work or filling him on the latest episode of whatever show you were binging. He was ridiculously sexy without even trying. All those hours he spent doing manual labor in the sun did wonders for his physique. You’d only seen him completely shirtless on one occasion, and the image of him with sweat dripping down his chest was burned into your memory, fueling your late-night thots and causing you to break out your vibrator on what was now a regular basis.
Six months had come and gone in the blink of an eye, and you’d begun to accept that Frank didn’t want to be anything more than friends with you. You decided tonight was as good a night as any to talk to someone new, to start letting go of your unrequited feelings.
You swapped out your usual jeans for a sundress, t-shirt bra for a push-up, and lip balm for lipstick. Putting your phone and some cash in a wristlet, you considered wearing your new strappy sandals. The walk to Ferg’s was about five minutes each way down a sandy road, though, and memories of the sticky floor inside aided your preferred pair of Converse in their victory for the night.
Just as you finished tying your shoes, you heard a knock at the door. You adjusted your cleavage and fluffed your hair a final time with one last look in the mirror. Here goes.
Frank felt like he had the wind knocked out of him in the best possible way. He suddenly felt entirely underdressed in his aloha shirt, even though it was his go-to for nights out of the house. He’d never seen you dressed so nicely when you weren’t going to work.
You were the kind of beautiful that didn’t require makeup. Your natural hair always framed your face perfectly, even if you didn’t think so. He thought you were adorable when you were concentrating on something, blowing your hair out of your face with a huff. Visions of your soft curves made their way into Frank’s dreams on more than one occasion. He had seen you in your swimsuit several times, sunbathing with Roberta and swimming with Mary at the beach. It wasn’t even all that revealing, but it accentuated your figure in ways that forced Frank into needing a cold shower or two. Above all, though, he admired your heart. You’d allowed Mary into your life without hesitation, spending time with her because you wanted to and allowing her to ask all those questions that Frank just wouldn’t be able to answer. It killed him that you didn’t see him the way he saw you, a perfect partner for him and a worthy maternal figure for Mary.
“Frank? You okay?” Your concerned voice shook him out of his thoughts, prompting him to close his mouth which apparently had opened wide in astonishment when you stood in the doorway.
“Yeah, um... You look…” He looked a little confused, his brow furrowed and lips pursed. “Why are you all dolled up? It’s only Ferg’s.” He wished he could’ve kicked himself in the teeth when your face fell at his question. He rubbed a hand over his face. “Shit. Let me try that again,” he nearly begged, running up to you to stop you from going back inside. “You look really nice, honey.” He ran his calloused hand up your forearm, but quickly returned it to his side when he realized what he’d done. “Is it a special occasion, though? Should I change?”
You gave him a watery smile, given that you were three seconds from slamming the door in his face and crying. “That’s better. Thank you.” You lightly pushed at his shoulder, trying and failing to ignore the electricity you felt at the contact. “No occasion, though. Just thought maybe it was about time I actually introduced myself to someone new.”
You couldn’t quite read his reaction. Little did you know he was certain he just felt his heart physically crack in his chest. “What do you mean?”
The two of you started walking, the tension between you thickening the very air you breathed. “Well, when you first invited me to Ferg’s, you said maybe I’d get to know some other people in the area, right? But we’re always with each other. I’m sure you’re itching to talk to someone other than me. I don’t want to hold you back.”
“Ah. Gotcha.” Frank abruptly reverted to the quiet, distant state he usually occupied before he met you. He sped up a bit, walking ahead of you and desperately attempting to school his features before you caught up with him.
Frank practically ran to the restroom, not slowing down even to hold the door open for you. You took a deep breath and rolled your shoulders, relaxing before entering the bar. Normally, whoever made it first would order drinks for you both, but Frank made it painfully clear that he had no desire to be in your company tonight. You ordered your usual, an Angry Orchard with a shot of Fireball in a tall glass. The combination tasted like apple cider, but the burn in your throat was caused by liquor rather than heat. It was strong enough to get you buzzed, but not so strong that you’d be stumbling home. You swallowed half the glass in one gulp, wanting to feel the warmth in your veins boosting your confidence as quickly as possible.
“Y/N? How are you?” You turned around, eyes meeting those of Jamie, your coworker. He leaned in for a hug and you accepted somewhat reluctantly, having interacted with him only in passing.
“Hey! I’m all right. What’s up?” You smiled at him, taking another sip of your drink. Jamie was not very subtly staring at your chest. You weren’t crazy about him, but the attention felt nice, so you allowed it.
“Not much. Just happy it’s Friday, ya know?” He looked around for a moment before returning his attention to you. “You’re usually here with that mechanic dude, right?”
You stifled a laugh thinking about how Frank would react if he heard himself referred to as “dude” by this prick. “Yeah, he’s around somewhere. We’re just-“
“-Just friends?” he finished for you with a hopeful look.
You nodded in response, looking him up and down. He was no Frank, but you couldn’t deny he was handsome. It had been so long since you’d even been kissed, and though you hated to admit it, you were touch-starved. One night couldn’t hurt, could it?
Meanwhile, Frank was splashing his face with cool water. He couldn’t believe he’d fucked up so royally. He was sure you didn’t want him how he wanted you, and now he was sure it was too late to tell you how he really felt.
He knew from the moment he saw you that he’d never get you out of his head. Roberta had been talking you up to Frank for weeks, but he wanted no part of it, mumbling something about there being “a reason why no one used matchmakers anymore.” He had no choice but to make your acquaintance when he was looking for Mary, and he’d never been so happy that Roberta could say she told him so.
Later that day at the beach, Mary approached him while you were dozing on a towel in the sand. She sat on his lap and reached for his face, using her pointer fingers to turn the straight line of his mouth up into a smile. “Roberta says you have a ‘charming’ smile, Frank. We think you should use it more.” He chuckled quietly, careful not to disturb you, and pulled Mary in close, planting a wet kiss on her cheek. She grimaced at the feeling, dramatically wiping at her face until he let her go back to reading with Fred.
The sound of the jukebox starting up cut short his reverie. He had to get out there and explain himself. Frank dried his face and hands with a paper towel before smacking his cheeks and stretching his neck back and forth to each shoulder.
Frank exited the restroom only to find some douchebag staring at your ass as you leaned over toward the bar. He saw red when the piece of shit held out his hand behind his back while his friend slipped a twenty-dollar bill into it, seemingly winning some sort of bet.
Jamie didn’t stand a chance when Frank stormed in between the two of you. “That’s IT,” he yelled, so intense he borderline bellowed. He threw whatever cash he had in his pocket on the bar to pay for your drinks before he pulled you outside, almost getting to your door while you fought against his grip. He only stopped when you spun your body around like something out of Dancing with the Stars and jumped in front of him, forcing him to catch you.
“Jesus Christ, Y/N, what are y-”
“-What are YOU doing, Frank? What the fuck was that?” You put your feet back down on the ground but remained facing him, arms crossed over your chest.
He groaned in frustration, suddenly realizing he actually had no clue how to respond. “Fuck.”
You looked at him, tapping your foot in anticipation.
“I didn’t like the way he was looking at you.” He rubbed at his temples in the way he did when he felt a headache coming on.
“And how was he looking at me, Frank? What does it matter to you?”
“He was looking at you like you were a piece of meat and I… FUCK!”
You both turned when your neighbor opened his window. “Can you kids keep it down out here?”
You waved bashfully at the old man. “Sorry, Mr. Parker,” you said in unison.
“Come inside, Frankie.” The nickname that typically made him roll his eyes at you never had sounded sweeter, now that its use confirmed you didn’t hate him for the scene he made. You both toed off your shoes at the door before you made your way into the living room, motioning for him to sit next to you on the couch when he tried to sit in the armchair across the room.
You leaned forward, pinching his chin between your thumb and forefinger. “Now what’s going on in that sun-damaged brain of yours?”
He let out a laugh so soft you almost missed it, but you were glad you didn’t. Sitting back against the arm of the couch, you pulled a pillow into your lap and hugged it, giving Frank your full attention.
Frank cleared his throat, doing his best to accept that it was now or never. “That guy was leering at you, and it pissed me off. You deserve better, Y/N.” He pried your fingers from where they were locked around the pillow to hold your hands in his.
“If you want to meet new people, that’s great. If you don’t want to be with me, that’s a little less great, but I’d understand. He didn’t even pay for your drinks. And I th-”
You covered his mouth with one of your hands, and he knitted his brows in confusion. “You’re making it sound like it’s an option to be with you.” You were in disbelief, side-eyeing him, waiting for Ashton Kutcher to announce that you were, in fact, being Punk’d.
The corners of his mouth lifted into the soft smile he reserved for you. It was the same one he gave you whether you were on a tangent about how “Obsessed” by Mariah Carey is “the single greatest diss track of all time” or you were helping Mary put a harness and leash on Fred “just to see how he’d do” on a walk.
“For a distinguished professor, you’re kind of a dummy, Frank.” You took his face in your hands, thrilled to be feeling his stubble against your palms. Before he could talk back to you, you kissed him, unsure how you denied yourselves such a simple yet extraordinary pleasure for so long. It only took a moment for him to relax into it, his hands removing the pillow between you before finding your waist and pulling you almost into his lap.
You deepened the kiss, threading your fingers through his hair. He pulled away first, pressing his forehead to yours. “Seems like we’re both dummies, huh?”
You were going to ask why pulled away until you looked down to see a considerable tent forming in the front of his jeans. You laughed as he pulled you into a tight hug, one arm wrapped around you while the other hand held your face against his neck.
You kissed the side of his neck softly before leaning back to look at him. “All this time? I thought you didn’t see me this way.” You held his face, stroking his cheeks with your thumbs. “You asked me to go to Ferg’s and then said I could meet other people, so I thought that was it, you know?”
He covered your hands with his and pecked your lips softly. “Honey, I thought it was the other way around. I was trying to ask you out and you looked like you’d seen a ghost.” You giggled, spluttering a bit because tears had started falling at some point. He wiped your tears away before swiping his thumb over your bottom lip, pulling it down a bit. “We’re fools, aren’t we?”
You nodded slowly and Frank saw something wicked flash in your eyes before you took his thumb in your mouth, sucking lightly. “Jesus, honey.” His length hardened underneath you and you could feel the wetness beginning to pool in your panties, prompting you to grind down into his lap.
You released his thumb from your mouth, pressing your chest into his before kissing him again. “I think we’re only fools if we don’t take advantage of the rest of your adult time.” You removed your dress easily, returning your hands to Frank’s shoulders to push off his shirt.
He surged forward to kiss you again, working magic with his tongue against yours. You wrapped your legs around his waist and he picked you up, walking you into the bedroom. Placing you on the bed carefully, he removed your bra and panties before pulling off his boxers and jeans in one go. You thought you wanted him before, but now that you could see everything he’d been hiding under his baggy clothes, you didn’t see how you could ever let him leave your bedroom.
The next few minutes were spent exploring each other’s mouths while Frank stretched you with his fingers. You didn’t think you’d ever been so wet in your life and thought you might pass out if you didn’t feel him inside you immediately. You gave his cock a few strokes before sliding his head through your folds, coating him in your slick.
“Waitwaitwait, honey. Do you have a condom?”
“You don’t need one if you don’t want one. It’s okay.”
He looked like you just gave him tomorrow’s winning lotto numbers, taking a deep breath to steady himself before he looked at you again. “Oh, God. Are you sure?”
“Mhm. I wanna feel you. Make me yours?”
“Anything you want, honey, but if you change your mind, just tell me, okay?” He lined himself up, seconds shy of entering you for the first time.
“I figured if you were gonna be possessive of me tonight, you might as well take it the whole nine, Frankie.” You laughed as he let out an exasperated sigh. “Seriously, though, I’m clean, I’m on the pill, and I’ve wanted you for a long time.” You reached up to scratch lightly through his chest hair.
“The only thing I wanna hear right now is you moaning for me.” He drove into you harshly, but waited a moment for you to adjust once he was seated to the hilt. “So damn wet and tight for me, honey. You’re so perfect, so beautiful.” He kissed you again before he began to move, slowly but surely making you lose your mind.
He dipped his head down to take one nipple in his mouth, then the other, effectively shutting you up and emptying all thoughts from your head. He nipped at the swell of your breast, soothing the bite with his tongue. “Fuck, Frank, please!”
“Please what, honey?” He picked up his pace, fucking into you so vigorously you moved up the bed. “Tell me what you need.”
“Make me cum, Frank. Please, baby, I need it. Need you,” you cried, leaning up to bite into his shoulder, stifling your moans.
“I wanna hear you, Y/N. I wanna hear those pretty moans while I’m making this perfect pussy cum for me.” The combination of his filthy words and the sight of him sucking on his own fingers before rubbing at your clit sent you over the edge, making you scream his name over and over again for what felt like forever and not long enough.
You could tell he was close, his hips stuttering and losing their rhythm. He began to pull out, unsure if you were willing to let him finish inside you, but knowing he was too close to wait for an answer.
You hooked your legs around his waist and pulled him close, pushing him back into you. “Fill me up, Frank. I wanna feel all of you. Please give it to me,” you whimpered. His release triggered another for you, chanting each other’s names surely loud enough for the neighbors to hear.
He stayed inside you as you both came down from your shared high, gingerly flipping you over so he laid on his back with you on his chest. He kissed the top of your head, fingers fluttering up and down your sides.
“What’s on your mind now, Frankie?” You looked up at him through your lashes, mildly terrified of the answer.
He looked down at you with the most adoration you’d ever seen, lifting your chin so your eyes met his in the moonlight. “That wasn’t too soon, was it? You mean so much to me and to Mary. I don’t wanna mess this up. I don’t ever wanna hurt you. You’re the best thing in my life besides Mary, you know that?”
You kissed his chest before looking back up at him, smiling. “First of all, I would argue that wasn’t soon enough.” He hissed as you clenched around his still softening cock inside you.
“You’re evil.”
Winking at him, you continued tracing patterns on his chest with your fingers. “Second, that all kinda sounds like you might be in love with me, Frank Adler.”
His hands stopped moving for a second before he responded. “Would you run away if I said I am?”
“Well, I wouldn’t run away. This is my house.” You thought your heart might explode in your chest.
“I didn’t even say it, but I take it back,” he huffed, throwing his arm over his eyes.
“What if I told you I felt the same way?”
He grinned, sitting up to kiss you feverishly on your cheeks, the tip of your nose, and finally your lips. You could feel him starting to harden again inside you, leading to round two of… well, you lost count.
You ate breakfast and showered together in time for Frank to return home before Mary did, agreeing to talk more later and to hold out on Roberta for a while.
Frank stood on your doorstep, leaning in to kiss you once more. All of a sudden, you heard a familiar meow and thanked God you were dressed and not in your robe.
“Frank, what are you doing here? I thought I’d come see Y/N since I’m not supposed to come home until noon.”
You bit your tongue to keep from cackling. Frank ran a hand over his face, his blissful bubble burst. He was getting you a hotel room next weekend.

Age: 17
“No Francis I don’t wanna watch this - I’m gonna get scared.” It was late, you were both sitting in his cozy living-room, a big shit-eating grin on his face.
“Why, are you chicken? It’s just The Shining, it's not even scary.” He put it on and despite your protests, he settled and let the movie play, You gave him a pout.
“Okay if you really don’t want to I’ll change it you big baby.” He rolled his eyes to grab the remote but you stopped him.
“Promise you’ll walk me home?” You knew it was one of his favourites. He smiled wide.
“Of course! If it’s too much I'll change it.” He gave you most of the blanket that was draped over his legs and you sat very close to him. He was taller than you remembered him being, having gone through a growth spurt over the summer and he towered over you now. All knees and elbows.
When the room scene came on you burrowed your face into his neck and he wrapped an arm around you, you were so pretty. Your hair smelled so good and he buried his nose into the messy bun you wore. You practically clawed at him, trying to get closer - he made you feel safe.
“Is it still scary?” You spoke into his neck.
“Yes - don’t look yet, just a little longer.”
----------------------------------------------
**Present Day**
Pope was holding up a shot-glass full of something and there were shots lined up for the three of you when you walked in.
“Catfish, I never thought it would happen for you feo, but I’m glad it did. Claudia, he’s lucky to have you.” He raised his shot glass and a chorus of ‘To Frankie and Claudia’ rang out before everyone tipped the liquor back.
The burn in the back of your throat couldn’t just be from the tequila, you’d swallowed a lump. You’d forced back the tears stinging your eyes when he dipped her back to kiss her. With her laughing and grabbing his neck they were the picture of romance and the smile you had plastered to your face must have looked manic. Popes eyes caught yours then and his eyebrows raised, a question in his features that you couldn’t quite read but he looked away and left you with your thoughts.
-
You got very drunk. Fall-down drunk. Forget about everything drunk.
“Spills, I think you should stop - you’re going to feel like hell tomorrow.” He was softly taking the shot out of your hand and you tried to fight him but his grip was iron.
“St-op t-telling me wh-what to do Francisco.” You tried to take it back but it seemed like the floor was coming up to say hi. An iron grip around your middle stopped you from losing a couple of teeth.
“Jesus Spills, okay - that’s enough. I’m cutting you off.” He held onto you and you wanted nothing more than to turn around and kiss him but you also wanted to throw up. Decisions decisions.
“I-think-imgonnabesick…” you brought your hand up to your mouth and part of you expected him to let go but he didn’t.
“Take a deep breath, it’s okay, Pope can you get me some water?” He was holding onto you, rubbing soothing circles onto your back and you tried to focus on his hands on you as the whole room spun dangerously. A few minutes later he was holding a cold glass of water to your lips. “Drink the whole thing, I'm going to hold it because if you spill it I'll kill you.” You chugged it down and he put it on the table.
“When did you get so strong, Francis?” Your words were slurred and you felt his chest rumbling with laughter at your question. “You smell so good.” You said it lower- more to yourself, but he heard and the laughing stopped.
“Oh no! Are you okay Spills?” Claudia was there now, her hands pulling your hair away from your face and before you could succumb to the urge to tell her never to call you that Frankie spoke up.
“She’s okay, just need to get her home. You’re okay right, Spills?” His voice was lower, so soothing you could fall asleep to it.
“Hey Frankie, you and Claudia should stay, tell me where she lives and I’ll get her home.” It was Pope, Frankie must have trusted him immensely because before you knew it he was putting you into the front seat of Pope's rental and buckling you in. Claudia was tying your hair back and putting your purse into your lap.
“Be careful please - this is her address, just make sure she gets in and lays face down. There should be a bucket somewhere in her bathroom - water and some aspirin on her night table.” Frankie was talking as you closed your eyes. When you opened them you were parked in front of your place.
“Hey honey, come on let's get you inside. I’m just going to look for your keys, okay?” Pope was taking your purse out of your lap. You nodded vaguely.
He helped you in and guided you to your bed. You could feel him taking off your shoes and throwing the blanket over you.
-----
Someone is driving an ice-pick into my skull.
The light was intense and you swore out loud when you cracked an eye open. You stretched and felt a piece of paper beside you on the bed.
“I locked your door - keys are in your mailbox. Drink the water - take the ibuprofen. Let Catfish know you’re okay when you wake up- he was worried. - Pope”
You groaned.
[Francis]: Spills, are you okay?
[Francis]: Can you answer me please?
[Francis]: Don’t tell me you’re still asleep? What, are you a teenager? Getting drunk and sleeping until 4pm????
[Francis]: Sorry Spills, just worried - can you please let me know you’re okay before I show up?
You could see the three little dots signalling that he was in the middle of typing another message and you quickly called him to stop him.
“Jesus, it’s about fucking time.” He sounded worried and relieved and it pulled on your heart strings in a way you both loved and hated.
“Stop yelling Francisco, I am begging you.” You threw your arm over your eyes to block out the light as you lay there, in yesterday's clothes. You didn’t even want to know what you looked like right now.
“Feeling all that tequila aren’t you? I haven’t seen you that drunk for a long time.” You could hear the faint smile in his voice.
“Yes yes I know - so fucking embarrasing. Did I do.. Or say anything..?” You were trying to ask him without asking him.
“You almost threw up, but if you’re asking me if you started table-dancing you’re good.” He laughed and you sighed with palpable relief. All you needed was for him to tell you that you’d confessed your love or told Claudia to fuck off.
“Thank god. That would have been all I needed. Can you tell Pope I said thanks? Okay, I'm going to go shower for a million years now.” You wanted to hang up, your head was pounding and you needed a few hours of silence and about a gallon of water.
“Okay - see you in a few hours.” You didn’t want to deal with both of them together, not with how you felt right now.
“No Francis I don’t want to entertain, I already embarrassed myself enough yesterday.”
“It’s just me coming and I’ve seen you much worse. I haven’t been home in a long time so, take a shower and do what you have to do and I'll be there at seven.” He hung up and you could have thrown your phone across the room.
Fuck.
---
The knock at the door at exactly seven didn’t surprise you.
What did surprise you was how nervous you were that he would be coming over.
You were literally attached at the hip at one point, he’s seen you at your worst.
“You’re looking much better than you did last night, Spills.” He laughed as he walked past you and into your home.
“Oh god.” You groaned as he laughed, why had you been nervous? You watched him as he set down the bags of what looked to be way too much food on your kitchen counter. Grabbing napkins and forks - completely at ease within your space. “What did you bring?” moved to peak into the bags.
“Chinese - “ He looked to see your eyes wide and the big toothy smile you were giving him and laughed. “Did you think I’d forget you always get Chinese when you’re hungover?” He laughed as he took out what looked to be all your favourites.
“You’re a lifesaver Francis, truly.” You were practically bouncing on the balls of your feet as you served yourself.
“I know, I’m practically a saint.” He walked over to your couch and plopped down, an egg-roll in his mouth as he turned on your TV and looked for something to watch. This was it - this was how it was supposed to be.
This was easy.
He had come over in comfy clothes and seeing him on your couch in sweats and a soft flannel was almost too much. His hair had gotten longer than he had worn it before he went away and it looked so soft; practically begged for your fingers.
“Are you still a baby about horror movies?” He asked without looking at you, you saw that he had put on some cheesy zombie movie. A big smile on his face.
“No, I’m okay, as long as you check every single corner of this place before you leave.”
“God I love horror movies, Claudia hates them so we never end up watching.” He sighed. Her name cut through the air like a knife. An ice cube casually dropped into your shirt.
“That’s too bad.” You quickly shoved food into your mouth, stopping yourself from saying anything you’d regret but he knew you too well. He looked at you then, eyes narrowing a fraction.
“Do you like her?” He asked, point blank and your eyes widened at him.
Fuck, don’t make me answer this right now.
“Yeah, she’s great.” To your credit, you tried. You really tried to sound genuine.
“Why don’t you like her Spills?” He sighed heavily, putting his plate down onto your coffee table to face you properly.
“What are you talking about? I said she was great!” You could feel the flush creeping up your neck and licking at your face at the lie. She was great, that wasn’t a lie - you just didn’t like her.
“Seriously? You’re going to act like I can’t tell you’re lying through your teeth? Just tell me! I’m going to marry this girl. I have to know why you don’t like her.” He had a little frown on his face and you could see that he was worried, but what would he have to be worried about? Worried you’d picked up on something he’d missed maybe?
“I just don’t know her, Francis, that’s all. There’s nothing wrong with her, you know I'm just weird. She seems really nice and I’m sure I’ll like her once I get to know her better.” You smiled at him sadly, you didn’t want to talk about her anymore.
He smiled back at you and picked up his plate, happy with your explanation.
---
It always seemed to happen this way, ever since you’d been teenagers. He’d put on something scary and you would end up with your face buried into his chest.
“Oh god - that is disgusting!” You shut your eyes as he laughed, his chest rumbling underneath you at a particularly gruesome scene. You felt his hand rubbing your arm, and it was such a comfort that you sighed lightly. The words bubbled up without your permission.
“I missed this.” You felt him rest his chin on the crown of your head.
“Me too Spills, I always missed this while I was away, missed you.” He spoke into your hair, you could feel his breath ghosting along your scalp and your heart raced, you wanted nothing more than to turn and kiss him. His hand stilled, and you felt his heart beating under your ear. You wanted to do it, your whole body seemed to tense with want and you turned slightly to look at him through your lashes. He was already staring at you, his mouth was so close.
His phone rang, snapping him out of his trance and you moved away from him reluctantly.
“Hey babe, what’s up?” He smiled apologetically. “Just take a deep breath, it’ll be okay. I’m on my way.” He hung up and gave you a look that said I’m sorry. “Gotta go, wedding emergency.” He sighed heavily as he got up, taking both your plates to the kitchen with him.
You wanted him to stay, you wanted to grab him and sit him back down on the couch and straddle him. Grab the soft material of the flannel while you kissed him but you didn’t. Instead you smiled and thanked him for coming and for the food.
He made his way through the apartment before he left, opening every door.
“Just checking every corner, so you can sleep.” He smiled.
I love you too.

Don’t go
This is going to be Muriel x Reader
The reader is usually going to be gender neutral in these, unless someone specifically requests otherwise or I just want to make a gendered one
Tw// none, unless you count fluff
It was early in the morning, you and Muriel were cuddling in bed together.
Muriel was wide awake and you were still fast asleep, but he needed to get up and start the day ;however he refused to move since you were glued to the side of him.
He just let out a quiet sigh while he wore a small smile before carefully turning on his side so he could properly cuddle you.
He could only let you get away with being cute for so long. Though, he does think it is kinda nice to stay like this with you just a little bit longer.
He took this moment to get a nice look at your peaceful face. How your hair was a bit messy and all over the place after having rolled around so much in your sleep, the way your lips are parted as you snore just a tiny bit. He tried to hold back a chuckle as he saw the tiny bit of drool running down.
He propped his elbow up so he could continue to look at you. There was a part of him that didn’t want this lovely moment to end, it can sometimes be rare to have times like these with you ;seeing as how you can be pretty busy at the shop.
Lately the only time he can be with you is when you two are in bed like this, it can get a bit lonely without you by his side being all goofy while he tries to work.
He used to prefer being alone until you kept insisting to be in his life and now he feels like he can’t live without you, which is how you also feel.
Muriel lifted up his free hand, gently placing it on your cheek. He started to softly caress his hand across your cheek here and there while he continued to peacefully watch.
He stayed like that until you began to slowly stir awake. He felt himself smile once more upon seeing your eyes flutter open.
It grew even more when you greeted him with one of your own. He felt his heart skip a beat when you used your hand to place it upon his own.
“Good morning, my love.” You said to him in a soft voice.
He felt himself blush from hearing you call him that. Though it’s not like you two haven’t been dating for a while now.
He let out a small huff before leaning over so he could place a kiss on your forehead before mumbling a small “good morning”.
His reaction couldn’t help but make you let out a small chuckle, he was just was too cute sometimes.
You attempted to get out of bed, only to be grabbed and pulled back in. Looks like the shoe is on the other foot now.
You give a sly smile before burying your face into the crook of his neck. “Five more minutes?” You ask, even though it came out a little muffled.
When you only got a huff as a response, you took it as a ‘yes’.
“Alright, my teddy bear.”
Time skip to after breakfast
After a lovely breakfast that consisted of nothing but eggs, you decided to clean up before getting ready to head over to the shop.
Whilst in the middle of finishing up, you felt a head being placed on your shoulder.
“I have to get ready, my love.” You said in a gentle tone.
Speaking in a soft and gentle tone is something you began to do over time, but only when it came to your giant teddy bear.
It never failed to send his cheeks ablaze when you called him by any kind of name like that, which is one of the reasons why you continue to do so.
“I’ll try and come home early this time.” You were attempting to bargain with him.
“Stay.” Was the only thing he said before lifting you into his arms.
Oh how you would love to stay in his arms like this forever, nothing bothering you as the two of you just stay in beautiful silence.
It hurt to have to say you couldn’t stay with him. If only Asra could fill in for you today.
That thought have you an idea, but you need to get out of Muriel’s arms so you could achieve this plan so you can get back into his arms.
“If I get off early enough I can stop by the market and pick you up some eel!” You had to step it up a notch.
You felt his arms loosen up a little, but you would have to try harder than that!
“And…” you began “I can also get Inanna something as well!”
Checkmate!
Inanna heard her name so she got up and walked over to the two of you before sitting down and staring.
It took him a minute of fighting with himself before you felt him completely give in and set you back down, but not without giving you one last gentle squeeze before placing you back down.
You turned around and looked at him so you could give him a toothy smile. He only returned that smile with a slight glare for using Inanna against him like that.
You got on your tippy toes and gave him a quick peck, that may have lingered a bit longer just so you could see him blush.
You also made sure to give Inanna a few head pats before getting your regular clothes.
Muriel went ahead and left the hut with Inanna once he saw you were about to start changing. You would kill the poor man if you started changing in front of him, and you have before. It was a bit humorous, after you made sure he was alright.
You stepped out of the hut once you were fully dressed, you made sure to even bring a basket since you were planning on getting them both plenty of food.
You have Muriel one last kiss and Inanna a few pets before heading to the shop.
You made sure to get there as soon as you could so you could get back as soon as you could, that is if Asra actually agreed with taking over for the day.
After some walking and figuring out how you’d be able to convince Asra, you finally made it to the shop.
There was another part of you saying to just skip the shop and get the food, but you didn’t want to leave Asra… without letting him know first.
You took a deep breath and walked in.
You saw that Asra was just finishing up with a customer. He saw you and gave you a smile before giving the customer some incense.
Once the customer left, Asra greeted you with a sly smile.
“And here I thought you were just going to leave me alone here!” He said dramatically.
About that…
“I was actually wondering if you could maybe…” you paused for a second. “If you could maybe take over for me for the rest of the day?” You asked with a small smile.
This only made his smirk increase. “And is there a reason why?” He asked while getting closer and closer.
He knew why, he just wanted to hear you say it.
“I want to spend the day with Muriel! I want to surprise him by coming home early!” You said with a proud look in your eyes.
Asra gave a small pout. “I was hoping you would end up getting all flustered.” His pout then turned into a smile.
He gave you a hug before pushing you toward the door. “Me and Faust will take care of the shop~ You two have fun!”
Faust popped out for a second. “Fun!”
You giggled while Asra continued to push you out.
You laughed even more when he managed to push you too hard and you stumbled a little bit. You waved at both of them before heading off to get the food.
You made sure to get a heck of a lot of eel and many different things that both Inanna and Muriel wouldn’t mind eating.
You also made sure to get some pumpkin bread before calling it a day and heading back.
You were so excited on your way back! Finally, a day where you guys can relax!
After some more walking
You may be a tad bit out of breath ;seeing as how you kinda rushed to get back.
You felt a smile return when you saw your teddy bear, chopping some wood since you both were running low.
Yes it may be early summer, but it’s good to go ahead and stock up.
When Inanna, who was laying next to Muriel, saw you, her ears perked up a bit.
She got up and made her way over to you, tail wagging and all.
When she got up, Muriel had looked over to see where she was going.
You watched with joy as he looked, confused, shock and happy all at once.
You walked up to him before speaking. “I told you I’d try to get home early!”
Inanna walked up to you so she could sniff the basket filled with all the goodies.
“I also got plenty of food.” You pointed out to the both of them. “Why don’t we head inside and have some?” You suggested.
Muriel cracked a small smile and nodded as a response.
All three of you went in so you could eat, relax and enjoy the day off with one another.
Eventually, it was time to sleep once more and just like earlier, the both of you were resting in each other’s arms once again.
But this time, instead of him watching over you, it was you watching over him.
Seeing at how he had his face hidden away in your chest as he peacefully slept, the way he held on to you with a strong but gentle grip.
You carefully ran your fingers through his hair as you finally felt yourself drift off.
Maybe you should get Asra to cover for you more often…

Maybe like... Shinsou using you as a guinea pig for his quirk to see how much of your body he can actually control (mind controlling orgasms out of you surprising you both and just giving him such a power trip)? Idk-👉🏻👈🏻🥺👀♥️
•Relentless•
A/N: THIS IS.... BRRRR. I *almost* went like, full sadist Hitoshi but I didn't know if that was your thing so I kept him a little a soft. I hope you like it!! I also took some liberties with his quirk's abilities lmao.
Pairing: Hitoshi Shinsou x FemReader (both 18+)
Warnings: Quirk use during sex, Mind control, mild mind reading, fingering, unprotected sex, multiple orgasms (?), creampie, slight Sir/Kitten terminology.
Word Count: 2,220
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
“Just relax, take a deep breath and let go.” Hitoshi’s deep, calming voice washes over you, soothing your buzzing nerves.
“Toshi- it feels so weird.” You sigh, trying to get used to the feeling of handing every bit of your bodily control over to your boyfriend.
“I know, it’s ok, you’re doing so well for me.” The reassurance and the praise goes right to your core, making you dizzy, making you want more.
Until tonight, in the safety of your bedroom, under the pretense of sexual experimentation. If it’s for science, it can’t be bad, right? At least, that’s how you convinced Hitoshi to get you laid up like this, panting and waiting for him to make the next move.
You lay still on your back, body bare and exposed to his lavender gaze, you watch as he stands beside you on the bed. His strong arms are crossed over his broad chest, his body clad in nothing but low hanging grey sweatpants that don’t hide an inch of his arousal.
He hasn’t taken your mind all at once like he usually does, he’s been training to make his quirk more selective to certain senses, so he can make it less obvious to his opponents when they’re under any control.
As of right now, you’re only physically void of control, leaving your mind cognisant and able to give feedback.
“I’m going to touch your mind now, Kitten, but I’ll do it slowly.” His voice has dropped slightly, less calming, more authoritative.
“Ok, I trust you.” You say as your skin grows hot with anticipation.
That’s all it takes, with your response, your mind grows cloudy. It’s the strangest feeling, almost like when you’re falling asleep and dream you’re being tossed from a boat. You feel the beginning of the jolt, but never the fall. You just hang there, helpless and reeling.
“Two taps if you can hear me.” His voice sounds like it’s being cast down a hallway, but right in your ear at the same time.
Apparently, you’ve given him your taps, because he tells you you’re a good girl, tells you that you’re listening so well.
“I’m going to touch you now.” He whispers, you watch his eyes trail down your body as he reaches out to ghost his fingers over the inside of your thigh.
You want to whine and squirm and ask him to move higher, but you’re frozen solid.
“I want you to make your thoughts as loud as you can, ok Kitten?” He instructs.
Of course, god he’s fucking brilliant. He’s probably never been able to gather any kind of feedback from anyone on the receiving end of his quirk. This is a perfect opportunity to learn exactly just how far his quirk extends. He’s powerful, you know this, and as time goes on you learn just how multifaceted his abilities are.
Could he possibly read your mind as well as control it?
“Yes Sir.” You lean into the words, feel them in your chest and cast them out to him.
His hand stills on your thigh as his body bristles.
“I felt that, It wasn’t audible, but I could feel it.” He smiles up at you, eyes lighting up with a wild glint.
“Ok, that’s a good direction. Let me try this.” He doesn’t offer you a single second to prepare for the feeling of his thumb tugging at the hood of your clit.
Normally, you let out pretty little moans for him, squeezing your thighs together before grabbing his wrist. Instead, the only thing you can feel is his finger teasing your sensitive bud.
It makes the sensation so much more concentrated. It extends down the nerves in your legs, firing up your spine as he applies more pressure.
“Talk to me, baby, let me hear you.” He’s said that to you several times in a sexual setting, but this time, it weighs in your chest, you don’t have an option, you’re sending words his way without even formulating them first.
“Lower please, more…” You feel your walls pulse when he does exactly that, hitting your clit in exactly the right spot.
Toshi knows your body, he’s worked it over countless times. He never leaves you unsatisfied, but an individual knows their own body better than anyone else, so of course it takes time for a partner to learn the sweet spots and the weak points.
This is so much more educational than just having him watch you masturbate so he can take stock of those sensitive areas, he’s literally inside your mind, listening to you, feeling it with you.
“Tell me more, tell me what you need.” He says, letting your eyes fall shut, you welcome the velvety darkness. It only allows you to lean further into the feeling of his thumb circling against you.
“Fingers… inside me… please, Toshi.”
You hear him groan, feel the bed dip, then feel the maddening sensation of two long fingers slipping into your dripping entrance.
Between the constant rubbing at your clit, the deprivation of your other senses, and now his digits crooking inside of you to rub against your spongy walls, you want to cry, thank him, egg him on. It almost hurts, it makes you ache.
“What is it? What’s wrong?” You forgot for a second that he’s wired into your senses now, he must have felt the inkling of sadness.
“Let me talk, I want you to hear me.” You let the pang in your chest ring out, pushing it up and out for him.
His fingers work with diligence as you feel your throat losen, a broken cry rips from your throat immediately, your back would arch if it weren’t glued to the bed.
“Oh that’s so much better.” He sighs, your eyes are still shut, which is probably for the best. You’re sure if you could see him you would come undone immediately.
Nerves fire off in your lower belly, gathering between your hip bones as he starts to move his fingers in and out at a slow, dedicated pace.
“Fuck- harder- Toshi, please.” You gasp as your walls start to tighten.
“God, I can still feel it baby.” His voice sounds strained and unsteady, and you want nothing more than to put your hands into his hair and pull.
You almost get the words out to tell him to move his thumb up and down on your clit instead of in circles, but he beats you to it. He feels it with you, jumping right to the new motion that turns your legs to jelly. What a demon you’ve unleashed. Now Hitoshi can feel what you want, and know exactly how to give it to you.
It all builds and builds and builds, all deep and hard and perfect.
“Hold it.” He snaps, just as you’re about to crest.
And you do, and you curse him for it.
You hang there, the feeling of the beginning of an orgams floods your core, but you never clench or throb, you simply ache.
“Oh Kitten, did you want to cum?” He sneers, voice full of arrogance.
“Please, fuck- fuck- fuck, Toshi please.” You fight with everything you have to break free, to cum as hard as you know you can under his control.
“Hold. It.” God you love it when he gets mean.
“Save it for my cock.”
You do, you stay there, fingers clinging to the edge of the cliff despite the pull of gravity under you. Your hips are ripped from the bed as you’re flipped over, when did his fingers leave your cunt? Did they? You can still feel them rubbing and thrusting, is it just his quirk?
Soon he has your face planted in the pillows, ass high in the air as you feel his hands slide up the backs of your thighs. So they did leave your core. The feeling is absolutely dizzying, like there’s four hands roaming your body as his quirk continues to caress your mind and lull it into beautiful submission.
“You’re fucking soaked.” You hear him breathe out before you feel the head of his thick length press to your entrance, the feeling of his fingers fade away like dust in the wind.
“Fuuuck.” He moans from somewhere deep in his chest as he presses into you, “So that’s what that feels like.” He chuckles as he rocks his hips forward.
You lay there sniffling, eyes drilled shut, only able to whimper and take it. You can’t grapple at the sheets, thrust back onto him like you want to. It’s driving you up the damn wall.
“You have a point.” He sighs as he settles into you all the way, his thick base stretching you out, you want to cum so badly, you feel it with every inch of your burning skin.
“You’re more fun to play with when you’re allowed to respond. “ Just like that, his palm cracks across your ass. Upon impact, his control breaks, leaving you with an over-exposed feeling, and all you can do is sob into the sheets when he pulls back only to plunge into you full force.
The feeling is purely electric, he doesn’t relent in the slightest. He sets a merciless pace instantly, his tip kisses your cervix as his silk skin massages your walls. He still doesn’t let you cum, though.
“Thoshi! Please! I wanna- please I wanna cum on your cock.” You beg without shame, tossing your head to the side so you can look back at him.
The sight rips the breath from your lungs. He’s covered in a light layer of sweat, wild hair sticking to his forehead as he rips you apart with a predatory gaze. His muscles contract beautifully as he thrusts into you, hands gripping your hips like you’re trying to run away.
“Do it- Shit- you’re so fucking tight.” His eyebrows knit together as your pussy starts to contract the second he gives you permission.
It’s all so hot, your skin, your insides, your mind. Your entire body aches and trembles and tightens. You cry and shake and thank him with a broken voice. He just keeps fucking, hips jack-hammering into you as you gush around him.
“Kitten- fucking hell- keep going- cum on this cock, cum on this fucking cock.” He finishes his sentence with a soft, shattered moan. His head is thrown back as he feels it out with you, memorizing the way you shiver when he angles up slightly, the way your thighs shake when he tells you how tight you feel.
It’s all so fucking gorgeous to him.
“One more- Give me one more, Kitten.” He groans into the air, the sound fills you with adoration.
One more? You’ve been cumming for what feels like forever, does it even count as one more when you haven’t even finished the first? Then it hits you like a truck, unexpected and final as your entire body is snatched up by ropes of pleasure as they capture every limb.
It’s a new, overwhelming, blinding feeling. It rocks your entire world, it’s all vibrant sparks as euphoria ricochets through you. You barely hear Hitoshi’s whines and moans, his consecutive, desperate “oh fucks”s as he buries himself inside you before cumming into your warm, pulsing walls. His hands claw at your hips as his abs tense, completely addicted to this newfound way of knowing your body.
You both stay there, crying for each other, squeezing each other, falling apart for each other as he pours his load into you.
After several long moments of your bodies quaking and pulsing, you finally settle slightly. His grip lessens as he lets your body fall to the bed, he collapses beside you, face to face and utterly spent.
You observe his beautiful, flushed state. Pink cheeks wet with sweat, droopy eyes and puffy lips. You lean forward and kiss him dearly, he melts against you, arms looping around your waist to pull you into his warm body. You pull apart reluctantly, panting and exhausted.
“Kitten, thank you, you were perfect, it all felt so perfect.” He breathes, nudging your nose with his.
“Toshi, thank you, I’ve never cum that hard in my life.” Your laugh is the light, breathy kind that only comes from being this spent.
“Darlin’, there’s no way I’m going to let you not cum that hard after learning that you can.” His low, rumbling voice sends a chill up your spine.
You reach your hand out to smooth his violet waves back off of his damp forehead, you look at him in awe, your brilliant, capable hero.
“You’re incredible.” You mumble, suddenly overwhelmed by the urge to rest.
He hushes you and pulls you into him, you settle against his chest with his arms around you.
“That’s all you.” With that, you let sleep take you, wrapped around Hitoshi as he whispers sweet praises into your ear.
You know he’s not through with you, and you’re sure as hell not through with him.

Series Masterlist
Prettier than Roses
Perhaps Kyungsoo was still punishing himself even after all this time, whether he was aware of his regrets or not. But he was punishing himself, for not being vocal about his feelings for you. He burned for you, he followed you just as a bloody puppy dog tail, but he always kept his heart’s desires in his chest.
He was resisting the urge of confessing, the dire need of being more than a friend for you as he was performing all roles of a friend, but God, he hated his role in your life. Even though he strongly believed that he did not have a chance with you, not even in the slightest, not after he played his role very well, more than he wanted and resulted in being your very dear and close friend. A friend, but nothing more nothing less. He hated so much, if he could, he would change everything in the blink of an eye.
He knew that he had to take you back to the safety of your room immediately. Before he was going to lose his shit. Before he was going to make a mistake. Before he was going to fuck the things up so bad. He was determined to take the cab and keeping you away from himself.
He did not want any distraction, shit he fucking dreamed of ripping that bloody dress off you during the dinner, he did not wish anything but managing to lock himself inside of his room before doing something stupid.
His clenched his fists in order to focus on a different thing. When he saw the cab coming to your direction, he was on the verge of praying.
However, when he turned to you, he just lost his shit.
You were looking at him with you big-doe eyes, a pout on your lips. The city lights were painting you with a dim yellow shine, multiplying your summer rose vibe. To Kyungsoo’s dismay, the wind carried your floral fragrance to him.
He remembered what you asked him.
He remembered what you requested.
Kyungsoo would do it right, he would touch you rightly and correctly, goddamn, he was fucking dreamed of how he could touch you since years. He was not better than the men you went out with, he was fantasizing a lot about you, he felt bad since he did not have your permission, fucking hell if he would ask your permission, but at the same time he knew that he was just helpless when those thoughts about you popped up in his imagination.
Unfortunately, all those dreams were so vivid.
You were like an island to him. A place for self-isolation, a place of happy utopias, a place of loneliness, a place of joy and fruitful ways of living, a place of exile and a place of connection. You were his island, his harbour and he needed to make you his, only his.
Since the day you were asleep on his shoulder in the bloody library, Kyungsoo wanted nothing but you.
Since the day you jumped in front of Kyungsoo out of nowhere with your fucking Cheshire cat grin, Kyungsoo only wished for being able to stick to you till the end. He did not care if he was torturing himself by dreaming of you when he knew he could not have you.
Your scent was too good.
Kyungsoo did not think what the heck he was doing, his mind could not catch his actions. His breath caught in the center of his throat like he was thirsty since ages, he could feel all dryness. He watched himself out of his body, he reached to you and dragged you into the cage of his arms.
Your smell was something else and Kyungsoo was immediately drunk in your scent.
“It is okey, Kyungsoo.” he heard your sweetest voice.
Kyungsoo did not need anything more to hear. The cab just disappeared into the darkness he caressed your face.
“You are so beautiful.” the words he was desperate to say finally fell from his tongue, mingled with the air. Your eyes slightly widened, and he heard your little gasp, that was the nail of Kyungsoo’s coffin. “Goddamn, you are fucking beautiful.”
“Kyungsoo” you literally moaned his goddamn name, and if there was still a kind of sanity left in Kyungsoo’s mind, your moan unconditionally destroyed it.
He kissed you and it took your breath away, both of you.
He kissed you enough to empty your lungs, and made your mind go to mush.
You were the one who broke the kiss in order to catch your thoughts. Your mind was scattered all around. You leaned over to your shaking knees and held them tightly.
“This… This…” you were panting, trying to find an excuse in the book in order to justify the kiss he gave to you.
“This means nothing.” Kyungsoo muttered but he could also reject to his claim with two reasons. First, It definitely did not fell like fucking nothing, and he never want something more than kiss you.
“Well, it means a lot to me.” you could not help but spill the beans. “Where in the hell you learned how to kiss like this?”
“I told you that you never have a proper taste of me.” Kyungsoo tensely chuckled, hell, he was aware of he was doing everything in his not-to-do list, but the spell you put on him made him impervious to anything except you.
“If you kiss every girl like this,” you hesitated to tell what you wanted to say, then you just gave up. JesusfuckingChrist, if he did not want to hear, he would better not to kiss you. Since he turned your brain into mush, he had to listen. “There is no surprise they are chasing you every day.”
“I do not kiss every girl first and foremost.” Kyungsoo’s eyebrows were furrowed. “If they want to chase me, what can I do?”
“And now you are bragging about yourself.” Your mood quickly changed into a less pleasurable and preferrable situation. “Can we go back?”
“Yes, of course.” he nod but you knew that you just destroyed everything was building between you in the blink of eye. You bite your upper lip so hard, preventing you from crying. Not now. Not before you were going to be under your blanket.
That kiss, that fucking kiss, it was all Kyungsoo’s fault.
He gave you a proper taste of himself, and you just wanted to cry, you were deeply sad because of you were not able to have him, you could not have him. He would not come to you as he boldly stated that the kiss meant nothing.
You were angry.
You were sad.
You were disappointed of yourself.
You just wanted to go back to the safety of your room and being able to talk with Chanyeol. He would understand. You knew that Baekhyun would give you a lot of advice in order to seduce Kyungsoo, but you did not want even to hear them.
He told you the kiss meant nothing.
Hell, if you could agree with this shitty statement, you would be lying your ass off.
Fuck off, you bastard you thought. You were fighting with your tears, trying to send them back. You were a big, strong girl and you could control your feelings.
You always were extremely strong, and you were famous for your self-control. You were not going to let Kyungsoo to destroy your inner peace or seeing you in tears because of his fucking rejection. You thought Kyungsoo would do it better, kissing you better, making you feel good, but the only thing he did was dismantling your foolish dreams.
He put you in your place, he gave you a lesson about your place in his eyes.
Nothing.
Kyungsoo could not look at you while you two were in the cab, going back to the hotel.
He knew that he fucked the things up so bad and he could not think a way to claim back from the pit he fell down by himself.
He kissed you, goddamn, it was the best kiss of his whole life, then he just said it meant nothing.
He cursed himself, he wished for the earth cracked like an egg and swallow his worthless presence. He made you upset, that’s why he could not look at your face. He knew what he was going to see, your eyes were going to mirror his mistake.
He lost in the moment, and while he was trying to give you a justification of that kiss, he just irrevocably ruined everything.
When you arrived at the hotel, you paid for the cab without saying a single word to Kyungsoo and directly walked to the inside of the hotel.
Kyungsoo was dying to grab you and apologizing on his knees, but your face telling him not to dare touching you.
He did not enter the hotel, he just sat on a chair in the garden. He was lost in his self-hatred, dreadful overthinking that had his skull feeling stuffed and a lifeless gaze washed all his feature.
He expected nothing but long days where the minutes bled into hours, hours into days and the inability to differentiate one day from the other. He mentally prepared himself for more than self-hatred, he knew that depression, isolation, and numbness were on their way to finish him, to eat him alive. Your face expression when he told you it was nothing was carved behind his eyelids, whenever he closed his eyes.
Kyungsoo was ready for flashbacks and nightmares, disturbing recollections that would render him for the following days.
Comatose, Kyungsoo thought. It was going to be a comatose for him.
How could he think he was better than those guys you went out? They did not destroy your expectations; they did not blend your self-confidence as Kyungsoo did in the seconds.
You did not know but there was a reason why Kyungsoo hopelessly tried to spare you from his kiss. You did not know but Kyungsoo heard a conversation between you and Chanyeol for once, when Chanyeol was telling that Kyungsoo was different for you, Kyungsoo was caring you more than anyone else, Kyungsoo was always there for you before anyone else just like he forgot how to shut his mouth as he continued. Chanyeol was the one who told you about Kyungsoo’s feelings.
And you just giggled of disbelief as Chanyeol went on about everything Kyungsoo wanted to tell you. Open your eyes to the facts.
You just laughed at his feelings coming from Chanyeol’s mouth and you told him it was impossible, you declared that there was nothing could be happened between Kyungsoo and you. You told Chanyeol, Kyungsoo was a good guy, but you did not think he was for you.
He wanted to save you from an unwanted situation which Kyungsoo could put you in by kissing you. It was sake, telling him to teach you, and Kyungsoo stupidly fell for it.
Till now he preferred to hide in the shadows, dancing around the subject than jumping onto it.
But this logic that his mind was following did not change how much he hated himself right now.
He had no regrets on kissing you, god knew that. He still could taste your velvety lips under his lips, he knew that moment was going to live with him till the end of his life. That kiss was grounding but inebriating, he was feeling sane while bringing both of you to the edge of insanity, your lips burned him like a fire.
When you touched him, you marked his skin, your touch stayed on him.
But he hated himself so much, enough to made him feel suffocating.
He found himself standing up and heading to your room before he could understand what the heck he was aiming for. The deep rumble of his chest that he could almost feel vibrate through the air as he walked through the way coming to you, helped him to prepare himself to face with you.
What could it be? he asked to himself. You could tell him get the fuck off, but he was not going to obey to your wish this time.
It was going to be a rumbling, he knew your possible reactions when you were sad, Goddamnit, you were extraordinarily upset with him, but he did not let this fact to disheartened him. He was not a coward; he was going to fix his mistake.
Kyungsoo raised his hand to knock your door, but before doing it, he heard your voice. As he thought, you were talking with Chanyeol or Baekhyun, he was not sure. He came closer to the door as much as he could, and did not give a shit to the rightful concern what if someone saw him while he was leaning on a single woman’s room like a stalker pervert?
He did not care.
He only cared for hearing your words after the incident.
Your voice was cracked, and he could not hear you properly, your voice was coming and going like a goddamn ancient radio. He could hear some words but there was no consistency or no chance of building a logical sentence of your words. He could perceive his name, with couple of words which Kyungsoo hoped not to be used with his name again, some broken lines on how disappointed you were, and he caught your oh-god-fucking-damn-it type of annoyance against Kyungsoo.
He gave up and knocked your door.
Twice.
There was no sign from you, and Kyungsoo was tired of patiently waiting.
He did his waiting. Seven years. In a fucking friendzone he put himself in.
He aggressively knocked on your door, and he did not stop until you gave up and opened the door.
“Shit.” he cursed when he saw your face. “You look horrible.”
Oh really? you thought.
After leaving Kyungsoo, you did not spend a single second to lock yourself in your secure and lonely room, then you just pressed the right numbers to make a call. Chanyeol was there for you, he listened your rambling and gibberish without a sign of inconvenience. He let you to curse Kyungsoo as much as you wanted, he joined you for the little party of swearing at Kyungsoo and he was generous on his vocabulary.
But you cried even when Chanyeol managed to put a broken smile on your face by telling you maybe Kyungsoo was not interested in girls, otherwise he had to be on his knees for you.
You cried for Kyungsoo more than anything made you cry till now.
Your sadness caught you off guard, even you did not expect to be upset with him like this, your feelings were like a blunt blade, it was turning in your heart over and over, using your own blood to be sharp again, then continuing its spinning in your heart. Pain made you numb; you could do only cry.
Your eyes were puffed and literally red. Your cheeks were red. Your lips were red.
Of course, you looked goddamn horrible as Kyungsoo, this asshole, proudly observed. Applause time for him for his greatest deduction.
“Nothing can escape from your eyes, Sherlock.” you murmured. “Couldn't you pay your attention on the fact that we already passed the midnight? Why are you here?”
“May I come in?” Kyungsoo kindly asked but something in his eyes were telling you to be on your toes and careful.
“No.” You congratulated yourself because of your refined answer. You were an idiot for sure, instead of playing with him and showing that he had no impacts on you, you chose to manifest how much you were broken by him. Good for you.
Transformation started in his eyes. Those chocolate brown and very warm eyes, reminding the deer’ beauty, perfectly shaped as almonds turned into crescents, and it was a bloody indicator of his mood was shifted into something dangerous. He was always quick to switch the moods, but he had never looked intimating at this level. You really could not believe what the heck he did, he just grabbed your fucking wrists, dragged you inside of your fucking room without your permission and pressed you on your fucking wall.
“Kyungsoo, fuck off!” you hissed at him, trying to save yourself from his iron grasp, swallowing hard.
“Tell me just one thing and save both of us from misery.” he whispered; his low-pitched voice gave you goosebumps which you really tried to take no notice of, but your traitor body willingly has been taking everything if the giver was Kyungsoo. “Why did you cry?”
“What if I do not want to tell you?” you lifted your chin, you needed to distance yourself from him, he already ruined the progress just a couple of hours ago. His statement clearly taught you whatever your friendship was not the best way to build a new kind of relationship, and you strongly opposed to be friends with benefits or those kinds of agreements. You would not go for them, you wanted Kyungsoo as your lover, not as your fuckbuddy.
“Do me a favor,” he enunciated each syllable and moved his right hand to your shoulder, pressing you into wall just like he wished to ground you right there. “Tell me.”
He leaned on you, his palm made contact with your shoulder, sliding up to your neck and staying there. His touch was heavy again, hotter than before.
He was goddamn close.
When you tried to save your body from him again, Kyungsoo’s hips rutted against yours.
Well, now you could feel more than before.
“Stop fucking moving!” he grunted, surprising you with the sudden and macho voice tone. He looked like very uncomfortable. “You and your idiotic behaviour!”
“If you do not like it, let me go!” you hissed, but you felt a knot was forming in the pit of your stomach. You were afraid of his impacts on you, especially after that fucking kiss. He had you over there as melted like a chocolate under heat.
Even while you were fighting to free yourself, your eyes unconsciously gravitated along his features, all you could do was thinking of him all the time you had spent with him. Those piercing brown eyes and those plump, smooth and heart-shaped lips that are always set in a witty line, the smallest moles and a couple of freckles all around his tiny nose and rosy cheeks, his long eyelashes, and that bloody soft hair of him, caused you to desire running your fingers through.
He was driving you fucking crazy, and you hated his power on you.
“Oh, believe me if I do not like even your idiotic side,” he leaned forward, closed the little proximity between your bodies and you felt the air left your lungs with your sanity. “I would not kiss you, damn woman.”
You were lost for words, you were run down, the only thing you could voice was an exasperated huff. Kyungsoo stared at you, refusing to loosen his grip around your body, instead he held you for his dear life and his gaze was nothing but absolutely penetrating.
You turned your head, trying to find something else to fix your eyes upon while you had been seeking the meaning of his words about liking your idiotic side.
Did he convey his feelings? Did he really stand for liking you, if he liked even your idiotic side, did it indicate that he liked all of you?
If he kissed you because he liked you, did that kiss imply more than nothing for him?
If yes, why he told you it meant nothing?
“Look at me.” his left hand cupped your face gently, on the contrary of his eyes, burning with fires, you could see the red was invading chocolate brown circles. “Do not avert your eyes.”
You blinked and shut your eyelids tightly. Suddenly, the silence in the room was more palpable than it was before, drowning both of you in a foggy swamp of riddles.
You were pissed off, broken and now, thanks to his complicated words, you were more than confused.
Kyungsoo was pissed off, broken and now, thanks to your complicated reactions, he was more than confused.
“If you were so keen on trying to convince yourself that I meant that kiss was nothing,” his jaw flexed, and his eyes were clouded. “I was trying to make amend for my fault. I should have not kiss you.”
You shivered, despite it was a very hot summer night, and Kyungsoo’s warm body made your temperature skyrocketed.
“Why?” you asked. “You do not make any sense, Kyungsoo.”
“Look, who is talking?” he rolled his eyes back. “You never make any sense about our fucking relationship since the beginning. I told you many times, pay your attention.”
You should be warned to follow the signs. Collect them and find the hidden meaning. Kyungsoo was sure on his patience, he could wait for you as much as you wished, he could give you time as much as you needed, but he had no patience to hide in the shadows anymore.
He knew that his constant shifting between one side to the other surprised you, hell it surprised even himself, he did not think about any of this, but since that kiss happened between you, since Kyungsoo got a taste of you, since he could touch you… Everything was changed.
He did not want to let you go.
He could not let you go.
He was aware of you did not belong to him, maybe you did not perceive Kyungsoo as a man, but he could not be your friend anymore. He wanted to tell you how much he adored you more than before. He wanted to kiss you more than before. He wanted to see your face when he woke up, he wanted to cuddle you when he was sad, he wanted to lean on your shoulder when he was broken, he wanted to cook for you, he wanted to sing for you, he wanted to make you happy, he wanted to make you feel good, he wanted to be your harbour to shelter from the stormy seas, your rock to build your home.
He wanted to live his life with you. He wanted to share even the smallest detail of his fucking life with you.
“I told you that I even like your idiotic side,” he clarified. “And you still avert your eyes from me.”
That ignited the fire of your soul.
“Hell, excuse me for my idiotic side but if I remember correctly and my memory never fails me, I told you that it was fucking okey just before you kissed me, after I shared my catastrophic first kiss experience with you,” your voice was not trembling anymore. It was firm, fuelled by your anger. “Then, all you could say was that kiss stands for nothing. What do you expect me to say?”
“Even if you are upset with me, talk to me!” he frowned. “I ask nothing but your words, truly and fully. Is this too much to expect? Hell, you were the one who said that I am a good guy but not made for you, why you are so upset with me because I made an excuse for that kiss?!”
It was your turn to froze. Kyungsoo finally let you go, he stepped back, and his arms crossed over his chest, but you froze to death. You could not move but looking at his unchanging expression like an idiot he just named it correctly.
“Yes,” you took a deep breath. If Kyungsoo said this to your face, it meant that he wanted you to face a revelation. He wanted you to know that he heard your words about him, the words which you vividly remember as you said them to Chanyeol without knowing that Kyungsoo was able to hear them. If he heard them, you owed an explanation to him. Maybe you were just searching an excuse in the book, but you gave up. You were going to tell him what you think of him. “It was me. I still have the same observation. You are damn good for me, if I would say the opposite, I would be lying my ass off.”
Kyungsoo’s face went blank.
What did you say to him? He wanted you to talk truly, however right now he was nothing but almost regretful what he had said to you. Kyungsoo hoped for you did not mean that for real, he wished it was just a gibberish.
Were you a goddamn fool?
He knew the low level of your self-confidence, but your statement was nothing but the shittiest one he has ever heard.
“What?” he murmured. “You think I am good for you?”
“Yes.” you nod. “Look at yourself, Kyungsoo! You are damn good at everything you do, you are clever, hard-working, funny, firm and always trustable, I even do not go for your physical quality, it is fucking obvious, you are handsome as fuck. Of course, I could not say anything different, you were not made for me.”
Suddenly, your hands became the focus of your attention, you fixed your eyes onto them instead of looking at Kyungsoo, who took his time before registering and recording your words in his brain. Then, his hands started were smashed together unintentionally.
“And during all this time,” he heard his own voice trembling, as if being blown by the brute force that he was trying to contain inside of his chest. “I thought you are the cleverer one.”
“Ha?”
“I really do not understand why I think you can follow the signs I have been giving to you like a bloody idiot.” he could not help but growled at you. “In my opinion, you are the only girl who deserves to feel fucking good, and if I can be that one to bring you to such a high, I would willingly do it.”
“I do not un-
“Because you do not want to see!” Kyungsoo could not control himself but go ballistic because of your blockheadedness. How could a woman be clueless at this level? What should he do, continue to scream at you about his feelings or should he bring a testimony that was approved by lawyers?
Didn’t you understand how much he cared for you?
Didn’t you see his almost tangible desires for you?
Everyone could sense his love for you, but you could fucking not, and Kyungsoo was burned out because of your total ignorance.
“Are you,” your whisper reached to his ears. “Are you interested in me?”
Kyungsoo decided that, on the contrary of your academic success, you were literally a retard.
“Why do you think I follow you everywhere like I am your dog tail?” he clenched his fists. Quickly, he walked towards you, but stopped just in front of your trembling body. “What do you think of me, do I look like a lost puppy?”
“No.” you were offended by his words. Dog tail? Puppy? He was not that much cute at first place with his level of being witty and shitty! However, after one look at him, you were not sure anymore, even he was clearly pissed off, he was fucking gorgeous and cute. “Shit, Kyungsoo, you are annoying.”
“You are the damn annoying one.” Kyungsoo started to question himself, he wanted nothing more than to fuck this attitude out of you right there, in your double sized bed. “All I did was finding an excuse which can make you relaxed with me, and I accepted my failure. I should have neither kiss you nor lie about it. But I did, and I apologize for my misbehaviour. Let’s look at you, you are just asking goddamn questions and ignoring my answers. Who is the annoying one?”
You whipped your head around; your eyes were glistering with a layer of tears, forming in the edges.
“Are you interested in me, or not?” you cried. Kyungsoo glanced up, he registered the sudden stiffness in you, and how you consciously averting your eyes away from him. He remembered that same stiffness invaded your posture when you wanted to learn what happened to your dad while he was in emergency, or you were hopelessly driving into Busan when you received after the news of Chanyeol’s motorcycle crash.
He finally understood what you needed to hear.
You wanted his words.
You wanted him to say those words.
“I have always been interested in you.” he gave up. Your heart jumped into your throat at his blunt answer, you did not know how you feel about this information, having a place in Kyungsoo’s head was something you always hoped for, but never believe it could be real. Half of you thrilled with a delicious excitement, while the other half wanted to run away because of fear.
What if he was going to fuck around with you then ditch you?
What if he was going to try being with you then decide to leave you?
What if he was going to pour happiness into your life, you even could not dream of, then disappear?
Your dilemma was in your head. Carved into your mind, body, and soul.
Your biggest fear was losing Kyungsoo.
“I hate this eerily silence between us.” Kyungsoo cut you off before you could dig yourself into a deeper hole. How could you tell him he was everything and more you wanted from this life? How could you make him to understand how much you devoted yourself to him unconditionally? You watched him with darkening eyes, darkening with your fears, with your concerns, with your worries. Your eyes were dark as the pitch-black. “I am sorry to disturb you. See you tomorrow morning if you want to have a breakfast with me.”
Every layer of privacy and secrecy that you desperately tried to build till now in order to keep your weakest point from him were dissolved when he directly headed to the door. You did not even realize but threw yourself in order to stop him.
“Do not go.” you let the tears fall then and held his toned arm for your dear life. You could not let him to leave you behind, otherwise you would be damned. “Do not leave me, before you really have to do.”
“Why should I have to leave you?” Kyungsoo turned back to you. You saw the hesitation of his moves, he wanted to caress your face, but he was holding himself. “I cannot do it, even if I want to. You are too precious for me, bookworm.”
Your face was softened by his rich baritone voice and the nickname he gave you. Calling you as a bookworm was reserved to Kyungsoo, he beaten the shit out of even Baekhyun when he also called you like Kyungsoo.
“One day you will, Soo.” you were lost in your nightmares, mulling over horrendous scenarios your subconscious had been giving you in a fucking row. “One day someone will steal you from me, one day you will fall in love with a girl and leave me behind.”
Something told you that you should have been keeping this logic to yourself, but you were extremely emotional at the very moment. Your expectations, dreams, fears, hopes, everything was mixed up and conjoined with the amount of sake you just consumed.
You were talkative tonight, something very rare for you and Kyungsoo was happy for that. Even though you had been going through a hell of a night. He was also oversensitive, his mind was clouded by his own dreads and doubts, however when you sharply deducted on his not-existed-because-of-you love affairs, he could not help but chuckled.
“First, I have to see the girls.” his throat was like a sandpaper as he swallowed. The rosy tint on your cheeks was obviously growing, invading your skin, and heading to the south. He hardly took his eyes off your neck and the rest of the direction. “Excuse me, but I have eyes only for you.”
“You cannot say that!” you winced, by fanning your face with your hands.
“Then enlighten me.” he defended himself. “How should I say it? Sorry, but I believe in monogamy.”
Your knuckles paled as your grip around his arm tightened.
How could you name the hunger that driving you into crazy? How could you tell him even looking at him, even if you have not a single clue what was going to be happen, riling you up? You supposedly liberated yourself from Kyungsoo, but tearing his gaze away was impossible for you.
You wanted him. So, fucking bad.
You wanted his hands. His lips. His body.
You wanted his soul. His heart.
You were starting to pull him to yourself without noticing, Kyungsoo’s eyes were widened when you took the initiative to your hands.
Literally.
“Do you remember what I asked to you?” you whispered.
“About?” Kyungsoo exhaled with your unexpected shifting between moods. He did not trust his voice, not now, not when you were so close to him, enough to feel your breath on his lips.
His throat was like the deserts of Egypt right now.
“About teaching me.” you murmured into his fucking ear. “When it comes to touch someone?”
“Yeah.” he swallowed very hard, biting a tsunami of cursing back.
“Will you teach me?” your hands wandered around his arms to his chest and stopped there. “For the future references?”
“If I were you,” he groaned. “I would not think about future references.”
You rolled your eyes, taking your hands back off his body. Kyungsoo caught your hands and put them back on his chest, while he was aggressively dragged you into his arms.
“I am going to teach you.” his eyebrows were furrowed. “How you should be touched.”
Kyungsoo was never going to forget how your eyes glowed after his words with excitement.
He was not sure but it seemed like you wanted him almost like how he wanted you.
Desperately and fucking needy.
He carried you to the bed.

Written for @drarrymicrofic prompt "flood"
They heard word from the upstream towns two days before the sky cracked open like an egg and brought forth the first rains of the season. It came late that year — they saw the first days of June before the water —but it came, sure as the sun rising at dawn.
The Old River was benevolent, and all who lived beside it had learned its language, knew what it meant when it whispered a soothing flow, when it raged a furious current. And they knew that the slow swelling of the waters, and word from upstream towns, was how its floods announced themselves.
Harry had lived in that town for many, many years — not all his 20, but enough of them to not know any other sky — and it was second nature by then, to carry his and his parents belongings to the lofted planks in their home as soon as the river raised its voice.
Once or twice a year they went through the routine, could sit comfortably beside their furniture on the garret for a night, until the morning sun came to lift the waters from the streets and from their homes, and life resumed its rhythm, allowed him and his parents back into their bakery.
It was different that year.
That first morning of rain, of the river’s song, his father looked up at the graying sky and told him, “It’s going to be big, son.” Told him, “My father’s father once told me that when he was very young, the river grew claws and they didn’t see the ground for a week.”
“I’ll load the garret.”
“I’m afraid that’s not going to be enough.”
It became clear once the sky joined the river in its cry, with a deep, rumbling voice made of thunder. They had a couple hours, at most, to figure out where they were going to seek refuge before the water flushed them out.
“The Colonel’s hotel,” his mother said, in a tone that allowed no argument. When his father tried, she added, “I know how you feel about him. It’s also the tallest building in town.”
She was right. His mother was always right, he had learned. And so they packed a small parcel of clothes and headed downtown, walked the two miles that separated them from the centric hotel. Far as it was from the river, the center was bustling with activity, families rushing to protect their furniture from Tláloc’s hands. Everyone could recognize what the skies foretold.
The hotel itself was four stories high, the tallest building Harry had seen in his life. The owner, Colonel Malfoy, was the stoic man appointed by General Díaz as the town mayor.
If his father was to be believed, the Colonel had voted in favor of the bill that dictated that people from across the river could not live in their town, should be cast away. People like Harry’s mother, like Harry himself, with the green eyes of the Otatlies. The proposal had not been approved by the General, but the fact remained, and Harry’s father held his distrust for the man close to his chest, ready to protect his wife, his son.
It wounded his pride to knock on his door, but it was the lesser of two evils, the known one.
The wife of the Colonel answered, let them in without questions after getting one look at them. The first drops of rain were already dripping from the tips of Harry’s hair.
They were led into a parlor, where the families of the four other members of the council awaited, seated by the Colonel’s chair.
“The bakers,” the Colonel said once he spotted them, no inflection, devoid of emotion. He was a regal man, had the unblemished skin of those who had never burnt underneath the unforgiving August sun in the plantain fields, the smooth voice of those who had never leaned over the smoke of the oven season after season. Harry disliked him on sight. “Take a seat.”
His mother walked into the room first, defiant, unafraid, and Harry followed. They took the table and chairs near a window, where they could look out at the curtain of rain, and, if they tried hard enough, find the chimney of their bakery.
There was silence in the parlor, the families reading books, the beat of the rain against the ceiling like white noise, a backdrop for the passing of the pages. Harry could read, his mother had taught him when he was a boy, but the Colonel’s wife must have assumed the contrary, for she didn’t offer him a book.
That was fine. Harry had time to think, and in his wondering, he opened up the untouched box inside his head that held the question he had been avoiding since stepping foot inside the hotel, the one that twisted his insides like a knife.
Where is he?
The Colonel had a son. Harry knew him, had met him at the bakery once, a year before, and been enthralled by his curious eyes, the lovely sound of his voice. It had been evident, back then, that he was not allowed to venture into the shops, likely had servants to fetch his bread when he so desired, yet there he was, underneath a hooded cloak, looking at Harry, looking at Harry, even as he bought cheese cigars and three milk cake from his mother.
They had met again at the market, weeks later, the Colonel’s son in the same cloak, buying tostones, the twice-friend plantains sold in every stall. Harry’s heart had stopped when he had realized it was him, that dazzling man from the bakery. He hadn’t been able to help himself, had talked to him for a moment without concern for propriety, given him the mammee paste he had bought for himself a few minutes earlier, and told him he was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen, told him that that thought had been running laps around his mind since he had first laid eyes on him at the bakery.
The Colonel’s son hadn’t said anything, and Harry understood, he was highborn and thus should not be entertaining the chatter of a charmed, poor baker. But the brightness of his cheeks told a different story.
The third time they had met, it had been at the park. The Colonel’s son walked arm in arm with the Lieutenant’s daughter, unhidden, immaculately dressed. Harry, with the basket of bread he’d been selling that day over one shoulder, had stared at him, his heart in his throat.
Once more, he had seen him at the market. The Colonel’s son had talked to him then, said, “those sweets you gave me last time tasted like a dream,” with downcast eyes, before walking in a different direction.
Harry’s heart still pounded when he thought about that.
Where is he?
Talking to him was an impossibility. He was only a baker. But a part of him couldn’t help but wonder if they could perhaps find a moment to exchange a few words, now that they would be trapped together for a few days.
He knew what he wanted to say to him.
I’ll show you the market. I’ll show you the bakery. Where else do you want to go? I will show you how to pick the ripest plantains, I will teach you how to cross the river to buy marquee bread from the next town, I will introduce you to the other shopkeeps, if you want to come with me.
He would show him anything he wanted to see but hadn’t been allowed to. He would show him every inch of their town, of the next, the language of the river, if the Colonel’s son said yes.
But he didn’t see him that first night he spent in the chair by the window, surrounded by the wealthiest families in town, attempting not to feel weighed down by their eyes on him and his parents.
Dawn of the second day found the water up to the first floor windows, and the rain still pounding, ever-falling.
Harry and his parents were given a room on the third floor, which was were the kitchens were located. He ventured in around mid-morning, thought perhaps he would find a familiar face from town working there.
He nearly fell backwards when he saw the Colonel’s son, sitting on the counter, propriety to the wind as he asked the chef question after question about … about bread, it seemed.
“Puff pastry?”
“Yes,” the chef was saying. “The folding depends on the method, and the goal. I truly don’t know much about this, you should find one of the Potters once this is over, their bakery has been running for decades.”
Harry saw the Colonel’s son’s cheeks color, once again. His breath came faster.
“Um,” he said from the door, clammy hands in the pockets of his trousers. The Colonel’s son turned to look right at him, grey eyes wide. Harry forced himself to continue. “Y-yes. We fold thrice, butter two layers.”
The Colonel’s son swallowed. “Oh.”
“I can tell you about it if you want.”
“Oh.”
A flood, it had taken.
“I’m Harry.”
“Draco.”
Harry looked at him, at the grey eyes he had found so enthralling. He was only a baker. This was the Colonel’s son. It was daunting.
Harry was dauntless.
“I’ll show you. I can teach you. And then … I can take you to the market.”
Draco’s smile lit up his eyes.

The Dragon’s Lair - 7
- SEOKJIN’S POV -
Pairing: Kim Namjoon x F!Reader (although she’s kinda OC now huh?)
A/N: Kinda on the short side, I apologize. But I wanted us to get a quick peek into Jin’s side of things and where his mind is. Any guesses on who his mate might be? ;)
*****
He wasn’t sure what had woken him up. The house was silent beyond Namjoon’s snores that he could hear coming through the old walls. He waited a few seconds to see if he could hear anything else or catch a scent, but it was all clear. There was just something pricking at his mind - something making his instincts go wild. He’d blame the fact that he was in a new house but this wasn’t a new feeling.
It had begun when his ride here had traveled past the sea. He’d gotten a whiff of fresh ocean air and his fur had instantly bristled up. His claws had lengthened involuntarily and he’d had to exercise every scrap of self-control he possessed so he wouldn’t leap out of the moving vehicle and run full-shift towards whatever that scent had been.
Seokjin groans and cracks open his eyes, still heavy with sleep. He might as well take a trip to the bathroom while he was already awake. He yawns and forces himself out of the comfy bed, scratching his belly sleepily. Even now, the scent was clear to him. There had been the smell of the ocean, yes, but...something else. Something other like him.
The realistic part of Seokjin’s brain said maybe his exotic side had simply found a scent it liked and that’s that. But when he allowed himself to be more fanciful, like now when it was three am and he was still half asleep, he listened to the Sphinx screaming, “mate, mate, MATE!,” and he didn’t hate the idea.
He’d been alone for so very long that it sounded like a dream. A fairytale ending for his Cinderella story.
Not that Namjoon was any sort of evil stepsister, nor his mate that exuded naivety and goodness from every pore. If anything, he knew that he was particularly blessed to have Heechul hyung looking out for him and talking this human into taking him in. He would have dealt with having to be in the shelter again, but quite honestly he was too old to do well there. He was a grown Sphinx used to independence and being at the top of his hierarchy.
He finishes in the bathroom and sighs heartily, deciding sleep was going to be impossible now. Might as well help himself to the kitchen. He shuffled quietly there and peeked inside the fridge, horrified once again by the contents. How have these two been keeping alive? The fridge only contained very basic ingredients like eggs and milk, a bottle of soy sauce, and not a single vegetable in sight.
He settles for making a couple of fried eggs, using them to top off the bowl of instant rice he pilfered from the cupboards. He gives it all a splash of soy sauce so it’s not completely flavorless and sits at the kitchen table, eating his little meal slowly.
It always seemed like nights were harder for some reason. Like the dark vastness of the sky reminded him of how empty his life had become - of how much he missed his parents.
He’d seriously lucked out when the two had walked into the shelter all those years ago. He’d been a bit older than the usual desired age for hybrid adoptions so he hadn’t expected much when Heechul had escorted the couple towards the exotic section. He’d stayed in his corner of the room playing his video game, but he’d kept an eye on them as they smiled and shook hands with all the desperate little ones crowding them. They seemed genuinely nice, with smiles that lit up their eyes and the man always making his wife laugh.
When they finally got close enough, Seokjin greedily scented the air, thinking if he ever had someone pick him he hoped they smelled as good as these two. The man - though obviously old for a human - smelled strong and healthy. Faint hints of cigar smoke and old books clung to him almost as much as his mate’s scent did. And his mate - the wife - smelled exactly how Seokjin had always thought a mother would. A light hint of expensive perfume couldn’t cloud the endorphins that were coming off of her in waves from being surrounded by the little ones. She was older too - perhaps younger than her husband by no more than a handful of years - but she too seemed to be in good health. She smelled so comforting to Seokjin that he stopped paying attention to his game and let his little avatar get killed three times in a row as he glued his eyes on the woman.
Heechul actually herded the pair towards him and he set down his controller and bowed formally, wanting to make a good impression despite the fact that he knew they would never pick him. He’d thought they’d merely shake his hand and move on, but the man had kept asking him questions about his hobbies and what he wanted to do when he grew up. The woman kept staring at him with her hand held to her chest like she’d been shocked by something.
It wasn’t until a half-hour later when Heechul had called him into his office with the pair that he realized she’d decided she wanted him. A mere few minutes and she’d decided she was his mother and no one else’s. “You’re so handsome I fell in love at first sight, my Jinnie,” she’d always say.
He’d had nineteen wonderful years with them before pneumonia took them both within days of each other. Nineteen years filled with happiness and laughter with two of the most loving people he’d ever met. He missed his routines with them - the fishing every weekend with his dad, cooking with his mom, the Sundays all three of them would sit around with face masks and watch movies.
When they’d passed away, his heart had broken. He’d known it was inevitable - they were both getting old and frail - but he’d thought he’d have just a little more time with them. After the funeral, he waited with bated breath for someone to storm in and drag him off to be put down somewhere. When nothing had happened, he’d grown steadily more careless, often forgetting he wasn’t supposed to be on his own with the big house and vast wealth. He’d carried on with his life like he knew his parents would have wanted him to. He kept going to med school since his dad had pulled so many strings to let him attend, he tried going on dates that never went anywhere, he hung out with his friends whenever he had the time. Life went on.
Trying to stop the robber had been stupid of him - he knew that now. He should have just let the man get away and then never reported him so he’d be left alone...but once he spied his mother’s favorite pearls in the man’s hand he’d lost his shit. He’d fully shifted, letting his wings out and knocking over a couple of vases with their width, and his nails expanded until finally he’d roared and the robber had screamed and thrown the nearest item at his head in his rush to escape. Unfortunately, that item had been his mother’s bird statue that was made entirely of gold, so he’d been knocked out cold. His friend had found him after he hadn’t shown up to their gaming session and called the police and an ambulance, where they took his blood and found out that he was a hybrid with deceased owners and proceeded to shove him in the nearest pound while they contacted his mother’s very distant cousin.
He’d never even gotten to meet this so-called cousin before the fat lawyer that smelled like fried chicken rushed him out of his own home, making him leave behind even the belongings that were his. He had no idea what use the cousin had for his manga or video game collection. Let alone the used sports jerseys or his hamper full of dirty clothes.
Thankfully Heechul existed and he’d been able to contact his old caregiver before he was sent to the state center. He knew that place was a death sentence. And now here he was, in a strange home with barely anything besides his small suitcase. He missed his dad. He missed his mom. He missed feeling loved and hopeful for the future. He missed the way his dad always knew what to do. He missed the way his mom would brush his mane and groom his feathers while she sang.
Seokjin cleared his throat and swiped at his suddenly wet cheek. He hadn’t even realized he’d been crying. He shook his head and went to the sink to wash his dishes, heading back to his room when he finished for another sleepless night.
****
Life in the ‘Dragon’s Lair’ (as he’d taken to calling it, despite said dragon’s constant eye-rolling) began to take on a new normal the longer he was there. Days began to blend into each other as he struggled to adjust himself to his new reality, but Namjoon and his mate were a great help.
Luckily, his tuition had been prepaid by his father and the cousin had no way of taking his education away from him, so he still took his classes - albeit mostly online because he wanted to stay in his room most of the time.
Money was thankfully of no immediate issue. There was more money in the book than he’d felt comfortable sharing with anyone, enough that he could still go years without a job if he needed to. He also knew that if he needed it, he could always ask Heechul for help, although the other would make him work in the cafe for it. He might do it anyway just for something to do.
Namjoon and his mate were simply wonderful. His old friend had grown up into a great person who was sweet and intelligent, good to the people he cared about, and strong in ways that he probably wasn’t even aware of. His mate Star was just as good. She was funny and kind, with just enough sass to be interesting. And they were both sickeningly in love with each other to the point that Seokjin had to leave the house quite often to get some peace. Not that it upset him - he was incredibly happy for Namjoon. It just sometimes emphasizes how alone he was.
But yes, Star was great. There was just...something about her. Something that drew him to her. Not in a sexual or attraction kind of way...more like - primal. Like the animal side of him saw her as a protector. Which, he supposed she kinda was since she was housing exotic hybrids, but still. He couldn’t figure it out. He was certain she was completely human, but sometimes underneath the frankly nauseating amount of reptile musk that she was constantly covered with, he could catch hints of the forest in her natural scent. Sure, there was a forest nearby, but why would the scent cling to her like that? There was something there and luckily for him, there was nothing he enjoyed more than a good riddle.
Beyond that, there was still one other pressing issue. His mate.
He knew they were out there. He knew he’d caught their scent. When he’d passed the sea he’d been certain they were there. He just needed to find them. He didn’t want them to be alone too.
“Jin, we’re about to head to the mall. Do you want to come shopping with us? The weather’s clearing up and I promised Namjoon we’d go to the ocean,” Star asked with a bright smile as he exited his room.
“The ocean?” he responded, his brain halting for a second. Fate was working her magic, was she?
“Yeah, he’s been wanting to go for a while but it’s been too cold. I thought we’d rent a small beach house and spend the weekend. So you’ll need swim trunks and towels, stuff like that. If you’d rather stay here, that’s fine too. It’s up to you.”
“No,” he rushed, feeling his ears go red with embarrassment as he let his eagerness show. “It’s fine. I’d love to go.”
“Great!” Star grinned, threading an arm with his as she leads him out to the yard. “We’ll have so much fun!”
He nods silently, his nose trying in vain to catch that salty scent on the air again.
I’m coming. Just wait for me.

Come As You Are
Summary: Dean takes Y/n dress shopping for a hunt, both of them blissfully unaware of where it will lead.
Pairing: Dean Winchester x Plus Size Reader
Word Count: 3.9K+
Warnings: Language, self-esteem and body image struggles, public intercourse, unprotected intercourse (wrap it before you tap it)
Author’s Note: This was written for an anonymous request,
“Hey babe I don’t know if your taking requests but I had a groovy idea dean x shy plus reader where they have to get the reader nice sexy clothes but she feels really uncomfortable in them and refuses to leave the dressing room and dean confess how he feels and they have sex in the dressing room ? Fluff and smut”
I truly enjoyed writing it so I hope it lives up to your expectations anon. Remember, feedback is like crack to writers, and we always love to hear what you thought xoxo Alex
Consider checking out a book from Alexandra’s Library!
A frown etched itself on her face as she ran her hand over the fabrics hanging from the racks. All of it felt foreign underneath her fingertips. Satin, chiffon, and everything else that was far more expensive than she was used to. Y/n’s wardrobe mostly consisted of denim and polyester blends that tended to fray after two washes. It was all that a hunter could afford, after all.
“How in the hell are we gonna afford any of this crap?” She whispered to Dean, who was eyeing the rack behind her, the gowns in front of him all a deep shade of red.
“Charlie’s miracle card, remember? There is no limit,” Dean raised his brow at her, a grin etched across his perfect face.
“Fine,” she groaned. “I still don’t see why I even need to go dress shopping, I’m sure I could find something in my closet.”
“I’ve seen your closet, and none of it is right for this case. You’ve got to distract the coroner for the night and you can’t do that in baggy jeans and flannel.” Dean huffed as he picked a dress off the rack. Y/n’s eyes went wide as she took it in, the hem was short for anyone’s standards, then add in the plunging neckline and this dress left nothing to the imagination.
“That is so not happening,” Y/n pointed at the offensive garment, her stomach fluttering at the simple idea of even trying to slip into it. Every spot on her body that she hated would be on full display in that thing. Her thick thighs, the roll that sat on her bra just under her arms, and don’t get her started on her abdomen.
“Come on, just try it. You never know ‘till you try it on.”
“Ugh,” Y/n snatched the dress from his hand before stalking off to look at more dresses. There were a couple more options that she grabbed to try on that were closer to her comfortability level. Under normal circumstances, she wouldn’t be caught dead in any of the items in her arms. But Dean had this way about him, always able to convince her to do anything without question. Maybe it was the way his skin crinkled around his eyes or the brightness that always seemed to live behind those deliciously green eyes? Who was she kidding, it was all of that and then some. The huntress had fallen hard for him from that first meeting. Sometimes she wondered why she chose to torture herself.
Dean Winchester was the cream of the crop when it came to hunters, as was his baby brother, Sam. The whole world knew who they were, including heaven and hell, so how could she be expected to resist him when he smiled at her the way he does. Or even when he made her coffee in the mornings just how she liked it and picked up chocolate and pain killers for her when he knew it was that time of the month. He was exceedingly attentive to her, something that she was sure he only directed at Sam. It was just another thing that surprised her about the legend of a man.
Yeah, like an idiot she fell for the eldest Winchester. There was no stopping it even though she was certain that her feelings would never be reciprocated. Y/n wasn’t like the other woman that Dean went for when he was on the prowl at bars. It’s not that she was ugly, it was that she was plain at best. People didn’t turn their heads when she walked in the room, men’s gazes didn’t linger on her from across the bar, no, Y/n was merely average. That’s how she knew that Dean would never see her as more than a friend because he had never looked at her in any form of want.
“Are you ready to try those on?” A sales woman’s voice broke her out of her unrelenting train of thought. Dean answered for her before she could process the woman’s words.
“Yes, please.” He smiled brightly and Y/n watched as the woman’s face flushed under his gaze. Y/n almost felt bad for the woman who was now just another victim to his charm. The saleswoman at least would be able to relish in his attention, wondering about what could have been had Y/n not been there with him. Y/n on the other hand already knew her fate. But mostly, if she was being honest, she was jealous.
Dean put his hands on her shoulders and guided her along behind the boutique worker who took them into the back of the store where the dressing rooms were located. The area was mostly quiet, just the music from the speakers could be heard in the space. Three large mirrors sat in front of a stage on the far wall, the rooms spaning out on either side of it. In the center of the room were three plush chairs for those waiting for others to sit in.
The worker unlocked a door for her as Dean plopped down in one of the chairs. Y/n slipped behind the door, letting out a deep breath as it closed behind her. If there was one thing she hated it was trying on clothes. Nothing ever seemed to fit her right or look anything like what it did on the hanger. It made the task a constant battle with her self-consciousness.
Y/n had always carried extra weight on her body. It wasn’t that she didn’t live an active lifestyle, she was a hunter, after all, it was the diet that hunters were accustomed to. It was fast food and dives in every small town in America. Not many mom and pop places tended to offer an egg white omelet, and it wasn’t her inclination to eat them either. So, she had always been bigger than most, and if she was being honest she had grown used to that. Maybe she used it as a shield to protect herself. Making connections with people as a hunter only tended to end in heartbreak, so this was easier.
The hunter hid the scary red thing Dean had selected behind all the rest of her haul, hoping she would find something before she ever even got to the thing. Y/n stripped from her flannel and jeans tossing them on the bench in the corner. She also added her bra to the pile, knowing all of these garments necessitated that she did not wear one. That left her in her favorite pair of panties. They weren’t anything special, but they made her butt looked its best.
The first dress in the line up was a straight black dress that hit just above her knee. The neckline wasn’t anything too crazy but the sleeves rolled off the shoulders a strip of fabric wrapping around her bust. Y/n was able to slip it on and tug up the zipper on the side. With a slide of her hands against the fabric, she frowned at her reflection. Not that it would flatter any figure, in her opinion.
“What’s taking so long in there?” Dean called out from his spot in front of the mirrors.
“I’m not coming out in this thing,” she called back as she began to take the dress back off.
“Oh, come on sweetheart,”
“Nope, next,” Y/n heard him huff even through the door and she imagined he rolled his eyes as well.
The next dress was a deep blue color. It had a wrap and pencil skirt, with an asymmetrical shape between the hem and the neckline. She supposed it was pretty but it also kind of looked like she had wrapped herself in a towel. Mostly, she felt like the point in the neckline was going to stab her in the throat, and she was not sure how to be sexy when she was trying not to die. It was another pass for her.
There was only one dress left, and at that moment she was wishing to whoever was listening that she had picked out a few more choices. Dean was whistling now, some Zeppelin tune she couldn’t exactly identify and she knew he was getting impatient. Y/n swapped the fabrics on her body, pulling the thin straps of the red satin piece up onto her shoulders. The dress clung to her skin, the fabric lightweight.
“Y/n/n,” Dean’s voice was just outside the door, the new proximity of it startling her. “Come on, you have to show me at least one. I know you and you’ll just try vetoing them all.” Y/n swore under her breath because he was right and it pissed her off that he knew her that well. The zipper was out of her reach on her back and she supposed she wouldn’t be able to truly see what it looked like on her unless she zipped it up.
“Fine, I need help with this zipper anyway,” she sighed and held the fabric against her naked chest while opening the door with her other. Dean was beaming when he came into view on the other side of the door. He snuck inside faster than a flea, the slamming of the door startling her again.
Get it together woman, you kill monsters for a living, Y/n cursed herself.
“Turn,” Dean instructed her with his fingers, and the woman obliged as she faced the mirror. Dean brushed her hair off her shoulder with his fingertips, the action barely distinguishable but it sent the hairs on the back of her neck standing to attention. With one hand holding the bottom stop, he used the other to tug on the pull tab, sliding together the teeth in one fluid motion.
“Thanks,” Y/n’s words were soft as she made eye contact with the green-eyed hunter in the mirror. He ran his tongue of his bottom lip, pulling the plump flesh between his teeth as his eyes wandered over her exposed skin.
Y/n visibly cringed as she looked at herself. Unfortunately, this was her favorite out of the three, but that didn’t mean she felt like she could venture anywhere in public in the thing. “Sweetheart, if that coroner hadn’t already been eyeing you up today, he would not know where to start when he sees you in this.”
“Shut up,” Y/n scrunched her nose as she spun around to whack Dean’s shoulder. “You are so full of it.”
“Am not,” Dean scoffed, his eye softening before he continued. “Y/n, why don’t you see how beautiful you are?”
Y/n whipped around to stare at him, her arms crossing over her chest, not believing that those words come out of his mouth. Surely, he was playing with her…
“Have you looked at me, Dean?” Y/n slapped her hands against her thighs, emphasizing their jiggle upon impact. “I’m nothing special.”
“I have looked at you,” His gaze traveled down her body again, his breath hitching slightly as he did so. “I’ve been looking at you for a while now.” The drop in Dean’s voice sent heat rushing through her body, the gravel undertone making her shiver.
“Dean--” words escaped her as the hunter stepped into her personal space, pushing her back against the mirror. Dean’s left hand came to rest against the reflective surface just beside her head as he chewed on his lip.
“I don’t think you know how hard it is for me to keep my eyes off of you,” he leaned into her, his nose brushing alongside hers. “And now, seeing you in this dress, I’m not sure I’ll be able to keep my hands off you.”
A rush of confidence coursed through her blood as his hot breath fanned over her face and Y/n slipped her hands behind his neck, pulling his lips down to meet hers. The movement was anything but smooth, though the action sent both of the hunters into action. Dean growled as he nipped her lower lip and she opened up to him, allowing his tongue to invade her mouth.
A moan involuntarily came from her as his hands moved to her hips, the heat of his skin seeping through the thin material where his finger pressed into her flesh. He stepped back, pulling her after him as he backed up and dropped to sit on the plush bench. Dean bunched up the material to her hips as he urged her to straddle his lap. Y/n used her hands on his shoulders to steady herself, the new bulge in his pants a surprise to her as she settled in his lap.
“Yeah, and you thought I was kidding,” Dean took in the slight rise in her brow, leaning forward to run his lips across her jaw, taking note of the places that made her shiver. Her eyes were squeezed shut as she allowed Dean to explore her body and let herself just feel him. Dean raked his teeth along with the shell of her ear, causing her to buck her hips and both of them to groan.
“Fuck,” her words were a breath on her lips as she repeated the action, the roughness of his jeans just enough friction on her aching sex.
“That’s it, beautiful, take what you need,” Dean sat back and used his hands to keep her body moving against his own, watching the way her brows scrunched together in the center of her forehead. With a shift of his hips, he had her pushed back and straddling his left thigh, his hands still in their place on her hips. “Can you come like this, sweetheart?”
“I don’t--” a jolt of electricity had her halting her denial, instead she chose to just nod and place her hands against his chest to balance her movement. She could feel Dean’s heart hammering in his chest under her palm and the quick rise and fall of his breath. Even at this moment, she was disbelieving that he was that turned on watching her get herself off on his thigh, but she had the proof hammering under her fingertips. Y/n was biting her lip to keep quiet in the small room. “Dean, I’m so close.”
“I’ve got you, come for me, Y/n,” he husked as his grip tightened, though she wasn’t sure how that was even possible, seeing as there was already gonna be bruises there later, that she was sure of. The sound of his voice reverberating in her head had the coil snapping inside of her, heat flooding her body as every nerve sparked and faded out. A rush of air left her lungs, her body slumping as her muscles relaxed post-orgasm.
“Oh my god.” As her arousal ebbed from her body and the reality of what just happened came to her sense, Y/n clammed up and she tried to climb from his lap. Blood rushed to her face and her hands flew to her cheeks to hide the heat settling there.
“Woah, where are you going?” Dean stopped her from making a hasty exit, his eyes searching hers in question.
“Dean, what the hell just happened?”
A smirk replaced the confusion on his face as he leaned forward and nuzzled his face in her neck, tracing his tongue up her pulse. “You just got yourself off on my thigh while I tried not to cream my jeans,” he breathed in her ear. It was like he already knew every button to push on her body, his dirty talk doing everything she needed it to for her body to already be aching for him again.
“I--”
“Shh, sweetheart. That was hot as fuck, and all I want now is to be buried deep inside that pretty pussy of yours.”
“Jesus,” her eyes shifted to his, taking in the mischievous glint shining behind his iris. “You aren’t kidding.”
“Nope,” he popped the ‘p’ at the end of his word and Y/n nodded as she climbed off him. She turned her back to him so he could undo the zipper, and it took a second for Dean to catch on to her silent action. He jumped to the edge of the bench and tugged down the zipper before sliding the material down her shoulders. Dean hooked his fingers into the edge of her panties, placing a kiss on the dip in her lower back before pulling the soaked material to pool at her feet along with the dress. He stood then as she turned back to him and pushed his jacket and flannel down his arms, adding it to the pile of discarded clothes in the room.
“Come, on we don’t have a lot of time before someone gets suspicious.” There was a quiver in her voice as she lifted the hem of his tee and tugged open his belt. It was taking everything in her to quell the shaking in her hands. Dean’s fingers came down to wrap around her wrists, halting her movement and she looked up at him.
“Y/n we don’t have to,” he was trying to read her mind as he examined her face. The trepidation was seeping through her pores, but not because she didn’t want this. Hell, the painful ache between her legs told her how much she wanted this, but her brain couldn’t help to race through the million thoughts about what it all meant.
“No, I-- God do I want this,” Y/n began chewing on the inside of her cheek as she tried to come up with the words to explain to him what she was thinking. But the longer the time passed the more nervous she grew, standing there stark naked and he’s still basically fully dressed. “I think I’ve wanted this for a long time now, but I’m just scared.”
“Of?” He urged her to continue.
“That this doesn’t mean the same thing to you,” Y/n cast her glance down, her eyes fixated on the way the fluorescent light glinted in the metal of his belt.
“You think that this is about getting my dick wet for me.” It wasn’t a question, because she had all but spelled it out for him. “Y/n,” He put his fingers under her chin and turned her head back up to his, brushing his lips against hers, the action soft and unhurried. “I told you, I’ve been watching you for a while now, trying to learn everything I could about you. I would have done this the first night I met you if I hadn’t thought about what it would do to you. But I’m done being scared because I think I fell for you a long time ago and no amount of whiskey or other women could make me forget that. So I’m done fighting it.”
“Yeah?” Her eyes were swimming with unshed tears now, and Dean answered her with another kiss, pulling her body flush against his own as he invaded her mouth. The pair only pulled apart when they could no longer fight the need for air. “Dean--”
“Yeah,” he breathed, dropping his grip on her to finish what she started with his belt. Y/n watched his movements, her breath getting caught in her throat as she watched him pull his length from its cotton confines. Dean signaled for her to turn with one hand as he stroked himself with the other. She obliged, of course, and Dean pushed her gently between her shoulder blades until her hands were pressed against the mirror. He nudged her legs to open a tad wider, meeting her gaze in the mirror.
“Do we--”
“I’m good if you’re good,” she told him, knowing where he was going with his question. He nodded to her before lining himself up with her entrance. Dean held her gaze as he entered her from behind, both of them sighing together as he became fully seated. Y/n closed her eyes as she tried to compose herself, her head falling between her arms.
“Fuck, open your eyes, look at yourself,” Dean was biting his tongue as he swatted her ass to get her to lift her head again. She indulged him, looking at herself in the mirror before turning her eyes back to his in the mirror. “There you go,” he praised her, the words like music to her ears as he pulled back out and slammed into her hips.
Dean set up a steady rhythm, careful to not shake the walls of the dressing too much with his movement. The couple kept their eyes on each other in the mirror, the moment the most erotic thing she could ever remember doing, but for the life of her, she couldn’t be bothered by it. Even from her vantage point, she could see how blown his pupils were, the black of his iris’ all but drowning out the green that she loved so much. To be honest, she wasn’t sure which she liked more now. All she did know was the feeling of him moving inside her and the way her muscles were shaking.
A small knock had Dean stilling his movements, and Y/n stood up, pressing her back against his chest. He slipped an arm around her chest as she signaled for him to be silent. “You doing alright in there?”
Y/n swallowed the lump in her throat and let out a breath, “Yeah,” she called back, afraid her voice would be too wrecked if she said anything else.
“Is there anything else I can get you? Maybe some different sizes?” The saleswoman tried again.
“Nope, I’m all set, thank you.”
“Okay, just let me know.” The sound of her footsteps could be heard retreating from the dressing room, and Dean pressed his face into her neck, the pair of them chuckling.
“Come on, sweetheart,” he adjusted their position, resuming the movement of his hips as he snaked his free hand down to rub against her clit. Y/n jolted in his arms at the contact, this time closing her eyes as he built her back up. “I’m right behind you. Can you come for me again?” Y/n nodded against him, her hands flying to his forearm as she felt herself jumping over the cliff, her mouth open in a silent scream. Her knees buckled and Dean had to adjust himself to keep her from falling, still fucking her from behind as her fluttering walls milked him to his own orgasm. He bit into her shoulder to keep himself from groaning out loud.
“Sweet Jesus,” her body went limp in his arms as the pair of them caught their breath in the now muggy space.
“Yeah, you are so not going out with that coroner tonight. We will find a different way.” Dean admitted as he pulled his now softening cock from her. Y/n flinched at the feeling and the subsequent rush of his release inside her.
“What?” She turned to him as he began righting himself, not understanding why he didn’t want her to do her job.
“‘Cause you are all mine now,” Dean tugged her into his chest, his fingers around one of her biceps. “And I want to spend all night making sure you can’t walk tomorrow.”
“Oh,” Dean laughed as she blinked at him, clearly lost for any sort of coherent answer to what he just told her.
“Get dressed so we can get out of here and kick Sammy out of our motel room.” Dean tapped her ass again and she pushed him away from her, a stupid grin on both of their faces.

The Lost Boys: Take-Out Intrigue Part 1
Part One | Part Two
Marko x Reader
Word Count: 2,400
Warnings: racial slurs, some gore
Summary: You catch Marko’s eye while he’s waiting on an order. (Since my blatant favoritism towards Dwayne was called out, I’m trying something new!)
“Nin hao ma,” Marko called out as he entered the small restaurant.
The familiar scents of garlic, rice vinegar, and sesame oil wafted out from the kitchen in the back. Marko personally preferred the take-out joint down the block but it was David’s night to choose so he didn’t complain. Much.
The older woman at the counter bowed her head slightly with a smile. He wasn’t a regular but he was there enough that she recognized him. “Hao, hao.”
Mandarin was fluent but these owners spoke Cantonese which he wasn’t as familiar with. He supposed he could take time to learn but he’d been occupied with spray painting and the birds for the past few years. That didn’t leave much time, or desire, to pick up something else. Pleasantries out of the way, he switched back to English. His
“Let me get three orders of the sweet and sour pork, one sweet and sour shrimp, four chow mein, one lo mein, and one fried rice.” After a second of thought he added, “Oh, and some egg rolls.”
The owner wrote it all down quickly and waved the paper slip in between her fingers. “Wait here.”
She disappeared to the kitchen, leaving Marko by himself to admire the scrolls of art that hung on the wall.
In the back, she calmly walked over to where you were hunched over an open textbook, frantically taking notes. It was noisy in the kitchen so you didn’t notice her until she cuffed you on the back of the head.
“Oww!”
“Time to work. Keep an eye on the customer out front,” she nagged in Cantonese.
“Fine, fine. I’m going.” You held your hands up in surrender. But you snagged you stuff when she wasn’t looking and hoofed it to the register before she could chastise you again.
You stood at the register and it was impossible to miss the customer. He had a riotous mass of blonde curls pulled back into a ponytail and wore a patched-up jacket that was simultaneously too busy to look at and too interesting to look away from. He must have felt your gaze because he suddenly shifted his focus from the calligraphy on the walls and stared you straight in the eye.
You held your breath and after a few seconds, his face relaxed and he smiled at you. The smile only added to his attractiveness but you instinctively knew that he wasn’t as sweet as it would lead you to believe.
“You’re new,” he commented.
“Y-yeah. I mean, no,” you sputtered. That was embarrassing. You’d never struggled to speak with a customer before. The fact that he stared without blinking made it worse.
He merely hid his smile behind the fingerless gloves and stuck a thumb in his mouth. A possible oral fixation—? You stopped that thought dead in it’s tracks. It was highly inappropriate to think of a paying customer that way. His actions were none of your business.
You cleared your throat in an attempt to start over. “Actually, my family has known the owners forever. But yes, I’ve only been working here for a few months.”
“I don’t remember seeing you,” he said crowding you despite the fact that there was a register between the two of you. “What’s your name?”
You weren’t sure why, but you felt the need to defend yourself to him. Which was ridiculous. You talked with chatty customers all the time, no problem.
“My name is Y/N. I always take the busy shifts since my English is better. This is the first time I’ve stayed later than the dinner rush.”
That answer must’ve settled something for him because he took at thumb out of his mouth and gave you the first genuine smile you’d seen thus far. In turn, you smiled back and the mood in the room calmed.
His attention went back to the calligraphy and you opened your textbook to the spot you left off at. Everything was quiet. “So…you like calligraphy?” he questioned.
The next fifteen minutes passed quickly as he got you talking about the restaurant’s décor. He was especially absorbed by the painting of a fiery-scaled eastern dragon, which you also liked. But your favorite was the Chinese phoenix on the opposite wall.
“Did you know the fenghuang is a lucky omen? They’re the bird of all birds in traditional mythology.”
That seemed to intrigue him. “The bird of all birds, huh?”
You latched on to the tone in his voice. “Do you like birds?”
He toed the tip of his worn boot into the linoleum floor. Laughed a little. “Yeah. You could say that.”
He opened his mouth to say more but at that moment you were called to bag up his order. A little reluctant, you excused yourself and went to kitchen. The food was already portioned into their respective white cartons, the top flaps folded in neatly.
Opening up the plastic bag, you quickly arranged the cartons inside and tied a with a small, snug knot at the top. Stapling the receipt to the bag, you drew a smiley face on it with a blue-ink pen. The smile came out a little lopsided but you left it alone, afraid it might turn out worse if you tried to fix it.
You lingered near the door, twisting the plastic in your hands. For some reason, you would be disappointed to see him leave. Which was crazy as you’d only talked for a few brief minutes. Judging by the size of the order, the poor guy probably needed to leave so he could bring other people their dinner too.
Resigned, and uncomfortable with that feeling, you went back out to the register. You made sure to use your most polite voice as you rang him up. The exchange happened normally and he dug a wad of dollars bills from his back pocket. It made you cringe to see the money so wrinkled and spotted with an unknown stain, but you kept your reaction to yourself.
“Have a nice night,” you wished him as you tried to hand him his change.
He waved it off with a shake of his head that sent his curls bouncing. “Nah, keep it.”
And that was it. He turned to leave, swinging the plastic bag at his side with every step. There was no hesitation on his part and you sighed. Clearly, your interest was one-sided.
Logically, you knew shouldn’t take it personal, but emotionally, you couldn’t shake the feeling of rejection. Remembering that you were in the middle of reading, you went to open your notes again. You flipped through the pages slowly, your heart not in it.
Outside of the small restaurant, the red neon open sign casted hazy lighting on the cracked cement sidewalk. Marko hovered just far enough from the door that you couldn’t see him. He snickered.
Your disappointed sighs had followed him as soon as he turned his back on you to leave and he had to be honest—it delighted him. Good to know that you were attracted to him. He certainly liked you.
Santa Carla was full of interesting people, alive, undead, or otherwise, so it was hard to catch his attention. But as soon as you started spouting off about mythical Chinese phoenixes, he was hooked. Yes, he was into birds, screw you, but he’d never heard that story before.
He supposed you could’ve been talking out of your ass but he didn’t get that vibe from what he had seen. Your eyes lit up when you talked about the image so he bet that you truly did admire it. Your voice was steady for the first time in the encounter, meaning that you were comfortable saying those things, had probably told them to other ears dozens of times.
So, yes, you could be making it up. If you were, he’d be the first to admire your skills. But you seemed too straight and narrow for that. After all, you were actually studying at work. What kind of person did that?
The tantalizing combination of authenticity and passion for your Eastern mythology made him want to talk to you again. That way he could pick your brains more and maybe, if he was lucky, make you stutter again. Still, he wasn’t going to walk back in there like a sap. Not after he just left.
“Hey!”
His ears twitched and he finally got a look at the guy he’d been watching stagger down the sidewalk the entire time he’d been outside. He chose not to saying anything figuring the human would keep talking anyway, which he did.
“You get that food from here?” The human pointed to the restaurant with his thumb.
Marko nodded, biting on his thumb.
“These chinks, or japs, or whatever any good?”
Marko’s eyes that had been taking in the guy’s appearance the entire time paused in the bird pin he had on his cap. It was yellow orange. Similar shade to the fenghuang’s wings. He took his thumb out of his mouth, his slick fangs descending to bite into his bottom lip.
The ass hadn’t even noticed, still talking and seemingly some kind of inebriated. Fine by Marko. He liked surprising people.
His clawed hand shot out faster than the human eye could track and plunged into the guy’s chest. A hole was torn clean through. The blood and heart organ felt warm and wet as it stuck to his fingers. “I don’t think you need to worry about that you prick.”
The hole was much more pronounced and blood began spilling out. In the light of the moon, the blood looked black instead of red. The about-to-be-dead offender’s jacket absorbed some of the liquid but the rate at which it poured out was too much for the fabric to soak it all up. It wouldn’t be long until he was officially dead.
The shock registered late and by the time the human looked down, Marko had already pulled his hand out and was sucking at the blood. He laughed at the other’s confused expression. The last thing the guy saw was Marko giggling and playfully waving his fingers.
The corpse sagged to the ground and Marko wrenched it up by one of the arms. He must’ve used too much force because he heard the shoulder pop off out of its socket.
He shrugged, not really bothered. No one else was out on the streets at this time. Especially not during a weekday. Getting rid of the body would be easy. Strengthening his hold, he flew into the night sky to dump the body where it would never be found.
When he came back, the white bag of Chinese take-out was sitting exactly where he left it. Excellent. Bending down to rip off the receipt, he pinned his new yellow orange bird pin to it. There was a small speck of blood on the glossed paint near the small bird’s wing that he licked clean.
He didn’t mind scarring you, but he didn’t want you so freaked out that you went to the cops. That would make things a little messy and make David pissy.
Following his nose, he wandered over the car that smelled of you. A quick glance through the driver’s window showed a stack of other notebooks and…a ridiculously bedazzled charm dangling from the rear-view mirror. It made him raise his brow, but he decided he liked it.
Mythological creatures, bedazzled charms…he couldn’t wait to find out more about you.
He arranged the paper backed pin under the windshield wiper to keep it from falling or blowing away. Marko prided himself on giving gifts and he wished he could be there to see you find it, but he’d been gone long enough. The boys were already going to give him hell for it. And he was getting hungry, too.
Besides, he knew where you worked. He’d find you again when he had more time.
Revving the bike, he raced down the road, the plastic bag quivering where it hung from his handle bars.
---XXX---
“See you later, Auntie,” you called out. A bell jingled as you pushed the front door open. You weren’t used to working this late and were long past due for sleep.
“Bye bye, drive home safe,” she said in Cantonese, the gruffness failing to mask her fondness for you.
Being in the restaurant all night, the crisp air outside was a nice reprieve. You loved the food, you really did, but oil could be headache inducing after a while. There was a slight breeze, too, that refreshed you with its invisible caress.
Most of the other businesses in this area were closed by now, leaving the streets dim and vacant. Luckily, there was a streetlight by your car so you didn’t have to walk in the dark. There was no such thing as being too safe in Santa Carla.
You shifted your things so you could get the keys and stopped in your tracks when you noticed a small piece of paper on the windshield. You looked around, not seeing anything else out of the ordinary. Still, you couldn’t shake the wariness.
Was it a ticket? A threat? A piece of trash that just blew into the window?
Creeping forward, you recognized the smiley face you had drawn earlier. What the—? When you were close enough to snatch it, you realized there was something weighing down the corner of the flimsy paper. A pin.
You angled it toward the streetlight, unsure what it was. An orange, no, golden orange bird gleamed in the light. Its wings spread wide and were smooth under the pads of your fingers.
Warmth spread through your chest. There wasn’t a message on the receipt, but the smiley face gave it away. This could only have been from that customer with the curls and jacket. Had he been wearing it inside? You couldn’t remember.
Clutching the pin, you sat in the driver’s seat. The car ran idle for a bit and you fiddled with the back of the pin. There was plenty of space on your bare jacket to place it wherever you wished. With the delicate gift attached securely to the jacket, you backed out of the parking spot, a smile on your face the entire way home.
Hopefully, he stopped by again soon.

Masterlist PREVIOUS //
Buy me a ☕ Character Pairing: Sam Wilson x F!Reader, Carol Danvers x F! Reader
Word Count: 2003
Rating: E
Warnings: just a little canon complaint drama this chapter
Synopsis: You thought Sam Wilson was the love of your life. You had planned to do it all with him - marriage, kids, see the world. Even when you’re life gets turned upside down, and you both end up international fugitives, he’s there by your side.
Then Thanos comes.
When Sam is one of the many turned to dust, leaving you alone and pregnant, you don’t think you’ll ever stop grieving. Yet, everyone tells you that Sam would want you to move on and live your life - that he’d want you to be happy. Gradually you open your heart up to another. Carol Danvers has lost people too. First her daughter, then her wife. As the two of you lean on each other, feelings grow and you move on together.
So what happens when Sam is returned to you?
Chapter 3: The Accords
When Sam had left on his mission to Lagos, you had been worried but not in a major way. You had thought maybe he might come home bruised up or with a cracked rib. The last thing you had expected was for a lapse in attention would allow Rumlow to detonate a block leveling amount of C-4, and that when Wanda had tried to contain it and it had taken out a floor of a building instead, she’d get the blame.
Still, while that was bad, it wasn’t something that you had thought would directly affect you. It might mean there was some argument with governments about Wanda being in the custody of the Avengers and how training should be done to prevent things like that from happening again. You were fairly sure the insurance policy the Avengers held for such things was going to be hit hard. But for you and Sam - life and love and wedding plans wouldn’t have been affected.
And then Tony Stark had shown up with General Thaddeus Ross.
Ross had dropped a bomb into the compound and run. Not a literal bomb, but one that had the potential to be just as damaging. The Sokovia accords had been dropped off - a document stating that any enhanced individual would have to register themselves with their country's government and the UN and provide them with biometrics as a way to keep tabs on them. Along with that, anyone working for facilities such as SHIELD, SWORD, or the Avengers as operatives, and any of these enhanced individuals were unable to act on matters of security without the go-ahead from their countries government or the UN.
While that didn’t change too much for you, according to the document, Sam’s wings counted as enhancements. Steve Rogers and Wanda Maximoff were also both enhanced and would need to provide DNA to the government. Wanda would be registered as a weapon of mass destruction.
It meant you and Sam had to decide what you wanted to do. You knew there was no way Sam would sign. He had already left the airforce, he wasn’t going back to working for the government again so soon. Especially not with the added condition of registering humans with them. You also knew he was unlikely to stop fighting - it just wasn’t in his nature.
Unfortunately, you didn’t have a chance to even talk about it before Sam was out the door again.
“Look,” Sam said as he got his best suit out of the closet. “This is a big deal. It kinda changes everything for us. So maybe decide what you really want to do and what you’re okay with? I mean… worst case scenario I could end up an international war criminal.”
“How likely is that though?” You asked as you watched him zip the suit into a suit bag.
“I doubt it’s very likely but you gotta consider it, babe,” he said. “I love you. I want a life with you, but I don’t want you to end up resenting me because we end up on the run from the law together or something.”
“Right,” you said with a nod. “You wouldn’t consider… I dunno… retiring?”
“Of course,” Sam said, moving on to the underwear drawer. “And if these things go through and they make me sign, that’s what I’m gonna say I’m doing. But you know me, I’m never gonna take some back seat when a big bad goes down.”
“No, I know,” you said. “Me too. You sure you don’t want me to come to this?”
Sam shook his head. “This is Steve’s thing,” he said. “I didn’t even know Peggy. I’m gonna be there for him. I’ll be back in a couple of days. You think while I’m gone.”
“You know I’m just going to do whatever you do,” you said. “Right? I mean, the whole premise sounds a little -” you paused and rocked your hand back and forth “- the whole ‘registering people for being different’ thing? And then to muzzle them and treat them as dangerous weapons. It’s fucked up. And besides. You’re my man. Where you go, I go.”
He smiled and came over and kissed your forehead. “I’m your man, huh?”
“Mm-hmm… my fine man,” you hummed.
He laughed and touched the tip of your nose with his finger. “Stop trying to distract me, woman. I’ve got a funeral to go to.”
“Alright, alright,” you said, zipping up his bag. “You’ll call me when you get there?”
He kissed your forehead again. “Of course.”
You grabbed his t-shirt before he could pull away and dragged him down into a deep kiss. He hummed softly and caressed your jaw, before pulling back and grabbing his bag. “You think on it. Okay? No rash decisions.”
You agreed you would and watched him leave, not realizing how this was the point where everything would change.
You had been watching the news in your room when the word about the attack on the UN at the Vienna International Centre. It hadn’t taken you long to realize if the number one suspect was James Barnes that Steve would be quick to take after him. Sam had been on the trail of the infamous Winter Soldier since the day you’d met him, there was no way that Steve would let anyone else bring him in.
You also knew that if Steve went, Sam would likely go too. Not because Sam was Steve’s shadow, but because they both had their moral compasses so inline that they ended up having the same thoughts at the same time.
Which would mean they were breaking international law and that unlikely scenario where they would become fugitives was a little more likely than you thought.
You needed to contact him, but you knew it was dangerous. You sent him a text. The two of you had gotten into the habit of sending large groups of emojis with little messages hidden inside. Most of the time they were for no reason. There would be a string of eggplants and peaches and then a random egg and milk carton to let the other person know you needed eggs and milk. It was a habit that was built out of the paranoia you had drilled into you as a spy. If something happened and you need to message each other covertly, seeing a string of random emojis would at a passing glance just look like the cute-coupley thing you both always did. It wouldn’t withstand any deep probing, but it would be enough to let each other know that one of you was in trouble or to go grab the burner phone and run.
You texted Sam a string of hearts in kiss emojis with an American flag, a bird, a jogging emoji, and a snowflake mixed in.
He texted back a similar string with a thumbs up in the mix.
You replied with the more sexual emojis, eggplants, peaches, the droplets, the tongue, and among them was the girl with the hand raised in the air.
Sam replied with the same only instead of the girl was a thumbs down.
Yes, they were going after James Barnes. No, he didn’t want you to come.
You didn’t hear from Sam again for two days. Two days that only seemed to make matters worse.
Steve had indeed tracked down Barnes, but so had just about everyone else. It ended with a car chase through the streets of Romania where Steve, Sam, Barnes, and weirdly the new king of Wakanda had been arrested by Rhodey of all people.
Sam called you when they had been taken back to Germany.
“I know you’re antsy, baby,” Sam said. “But you need to stay put. Right now they’ve confiscated my wings and Cap’s shield, but we think we’ll be let go. We went after Barnes. He’s captured. That’s it. Slap on the wrist, don’t do it again, type of bullshit. Worse comes to worst… well, it’s not the first time they’ve tried taking my wings off me, is it?”
“Sam!” You yelped. “This line…”
“I’m joking! I’m joking!” Sam said, holding his hands up in front of the screen. You knew he wasn’t.
“Anyway…” Sam continued. “I think Tony’s trying to talk Steve into signing the accords. I dunno if he will or not. Maybe just to keep the peace. But there’s no way I’m going to.”
“I want to be there with you,” you pouted. “I could help.”
“It’ll just make things messy,” Sam said. “Trust me. You’re better off there. It’s not like I can get in any more trouble now Barnes is captured.”
He was wrong.
The next you heard Barnes had broken out and Sam and Steve had taken after him. You received a text not long after the news broke with a series of hearts and a cellphone emoji.
You went to your closet, grabbed the burner phone, and went out for a run. You were just leaving the perimeter of the compound when the burner rang.
“Sam?” You said, pressing the phone to your ear.
“Yeah, baby,” Sam said. “It’s me. Did you hear?”
“They’re saying you’re on the run with Barnes,” you said. “Please tell me you were just recapturing him.”
Sam laughed. “That was the idea,” he said. “This shit is going deep and we need help. There’s this guy - wanted to get to Barnes to find out about some other Super Soldiers and where they’re kept. So now we might have a bunch of really psychotic super soldiers being released on the world by someone even more psychotic than they are.”
“Where are you? What do you need me to do?” You asked.
“I’m tempted to tell you to stay put,” Sam said.
“Sam, I’m not…”
“No, I know,” he said. “But think about it. You do this - you come after me and we’re fugitives. We can’t go home. All this talk of weddings and babies? It’s not happening. It’ll be you and me on the run from everywhere. Best we can hope for is one day when we’re both too old to run we settle in some country that doesn’t extradite.”
“I heard Montenegro didn’t sign,” you half-joke. “It looks pretty nice there.”
Sam laughed. “See I was thinking Cape Verde.”
You let out a breath and smiled a little. “Always thinking, you are.”
“You know it, baby,” Sam said. “Now, Clint’s coming…”
“What? But his family?” You yelped.
“I know… but like you, you can’t tell him no,” Sam said. “He’s going to grab Wanda. When you get back, go to her, but say nothing. Just a little girl’s bonding time. Okay? I’m sure Vizh will be hanging around her. He always is. Don’t leave her side even if they do make it clear that you’re third-wheeling.”
“Should I pack?” You asked.
“No,” Sam said quickly. “I’m even a little worried you grabbing the burner might be too much of a giveaway to what’s going on.”
“I did it while I changed into my jogging gear,” you said. “Nabbed it with my heart rate monitor.”
“Good. Well hopefully that covered that gorgeous ass of yours,” he said. “But aside from deciding you want to hang with Wanda you’re not doing anything strange, okay? Clint will get there and you go. Tony’s an asshole, but not that big of an asshole, I don’t think he’d burn our things, so we’re gonna have to trust that the compound will act as our storage until this is sorted out. If it ever is.”
“Okay,” you said with a sigh.
“I love you,” Sam said softly. “You take care of yourself.”
“You too, Sammy,” you said. “Don’t do anything dumber than you already have until I get there and can join in.”
Sam laughed. “You got it. I’ll see you soon.”
“Yeah. See you.”
You disconnected the call and shoved it back behind your heart rate monitor and turned to run back to the compound. You had a fight to prepare for.

Ghost Parade
Synopsis: Ghost/Demon AU with human Logan, abused, who just ran away into the house Janus and Remus haunt. The others will exist in this au as well.
Read on Ao3
___
Something was off from the moment Logan moved in.
He’d arrived at the house feeling heavy, lethargy dragging his movements and his eyes lidded. The moon shone down on the driveway, still wet from the earlier rain. He turned off his car and found his overnight bag— thank God I packed this —before heading up the drive.
His hands trembled as he found his keys. When he stepped into the house, it was cold. Wind blew from the open door, forcing a violent shiver through Logan’s hunger-panged frame, so he stepped fully inside and slammed it close. It echoed through the house.
Something fluttered to the ground— a folded piece of paper. Logan set his overnight bag down and picked up the note.
Went ahead and cleaned the place up for you! I’m right next door if you need anything.
—Patton
Logan shoved the note in his pocket. He dragged his bag into the living room, waiting until he reached the carpet before shimmying out of his pants and collapsing on the ground.
His ribs ached with fresh bruises. Every time he drew in a breath, his body rattled like everything was a step away from coming loose. He wanted to find the blanket he’d stuffed in his bag, but couldn’t convince his limbs to move. He fell asleep like that.
He woke up in the middle of the night to something soft being settled over his shoulders. He was too cold to be scared. He pulled the blanket tighter and fell back asleep.
The sun streaming through his curtainless blinds woke him. He propped himself up on one hand, the other rubbing his eye as he yawned.
He stared down at the blanket.
Must’ve done it in his sleep. It got freezing at night.
After waking up a moment, he trudged back outside to bring in some boxes. He had four boxes total, most of them clothes. It didn’t take long to bring everything inside.
He decided to fold his clothes and line them along the living room wall. He didn’t have any furniture, and he sure as hell didn’t have the money for any, so he planned on staying in the living room until things got settled. Until he was safe.
He dumped his box of clothes on the ground. The doorbell rang.
His heart hammered, drowning out any other noise. His palms sweat. The room spun.
“Hello? You up yet?” A sweet voice called. “I brought breakfast!”
Logan blinked. That didn’t sound like them.
He shakily rose to his feet and crept over to the door. He peeked through the peep hole.
A short, freckly boy with brown skin and curly hair stood on his doorstep, arms piled with tupperware.
He cracked the door open. “Hello?”
“Hi! You’re Logan?”
“Yes. Do I know you…?”
He shook his head. “Nope! I’m Patton. Talyn told me you were coming and I know the house pretty well, so I’ve been taking care of it. Just wanted to drop in and make sure it’s treating you well!”
Logan hesitated, then pulled the door open while clearing his throat. “Uh, yeah, sure. What’s…?”
“Breakfast!” He strided through the foyer, the living room, into the kitchen, where he lined the containers up on the counter. “I wasn’t sure what you liked. I made toast, eggs, bacon… I think I have some waffles here somewhere…”
“That’s…” Logan swallowed. His chest was tight. “That’s really sweet, but I couldn’t—”
“Have you eaten today?”
Logan paused.
“Come on, I made too much! Please, take as much as you want.”
Patton poked his head in the living room, looking around. “Still as neat as I left it. I can tell you’re pretty neat, too.”
Logan blushed. “I’m sorry about that, I was about to—”
He stopped at Patton’s side.
His clothes were folded.
Neatly, colour coordinated.
“Uh…”
Patton smiled and urged him towards the kitchen. Logan nibbled on a piece of toast, ignoring his growling stomach. “So how are you liking it so far? It’s treating you well?”
“It’s… yeah? It’s been okay. I got in late last night. It gets cold.”
“Yeah, that turns a lot of people off. But it’s got a lot of good qualities! Just a little cold sometimes.” Patton hopped up on a bar stool and swung his legs. “This is a really good house, Logan. A lot of people have wanted to live here, but couldn’t.”
He frowned deeply. “What does that mean?”
“They couldn’t stomach it. Not that I can blame them, but they were squeamish. Are you squeamish?”
Logan stared.
“I’m getting carried away,” he said softly. “I’ll leave you to it. Uh, just return those tupperwares whenever! And if you need help finding a job, let me know, too! I’ve got a home bakery next door, I could use an assistant.”
Logan nodded slowly. He followed to make sure Patton left, and locked the door behind him.
He checked the food before he continued eating. He wasn’t sure if he’d actually be able to notice if it were drugged, but he had to try. He also couldn’t turn the food down. His stomach clawed itself to shreds, screaming for something. Logan ate himself sick.
He spent the first two hours after unpacking, then headed into town to look for work. It wasn’t easy without a phone or laptop. He eventually found his way to the library, and spent all day sending out resumes and filling in applications. After exhausting every opportunity, he found a quiet cafe and waited out the rest of the day, eyes alert.
He got home around eleven. A mattress laid in the centre of his room, and he could have cried if he wasn’t so confused.
He plucked the note off the pillow.
Noticed you didn’t have a good place to sleep, and that simply wouldn’t do! Hope you don’t mind me coming in, I wanted to surprise you. And don’t you dare think about repaying me— just get me that tupperware back and maybe send over one of your resumes.
—Patton
Logan wiped his face and tossed the note on the ground. He plopped onto the mattress.
Something rustled underneath him. He flip-flopped around for a moment before finally pulling out the rose he’d landed on. It was crumpled now, blood red and otherwise immaculate. There were no thorns.
Logan blushed.
No. Patton wasn’t flirting. There would be no reason for him to…
Was there?
Logan buried his face in the pillow. He was too tired to pick through his parents’ lies. He fell asleep.
Voices drifted into his dream.
“That was dangerous and you know it.”
“I couldn’t help it! I looove him!”
“Remus. You’re going to scare him off. That’s not what you want, is it?”
“No… It’s not.”
“No more roses. Got it?”
“Yeah, Jan, I got it.”
Logan forced his eyes open, and could’ve sworn he saw two figures on the staircase— one draped in flowing black fabric, the other sat on their haunches, eyes glowing green.
Then sleep dragged him back down.

Hey! If it’s not a bother, please could you write an blurb where Tom and the reader are best friends and one day they’re making brownies in the kitchen. Things are all cute and light and as a joke, Tom playfully spanks the reader as she walks past him to get something from the cupboard. She accidentally moans because it’s her kink and that turns him on and then she and Tom end up fucking in the kitchen
it’s smutty sunday, my dudes
okay i absolutely adored writing this!!! and it made me really want brownies. and also to get f*cked in a kitchen am i allowed to say that on here
smut below the cut! 18+ only please :)
“Okay, it says we still need eggs and chocolate chips,” Your best friend Tom reads off the recipe to you as he mixes the batter together, watching you come back from preheating the oven.
“You’re on egg duty, I’ll get the chips!” you squeal.
“You sound way too excited.”
“So I love brownies. Sue me.”
Tom chuckled at you as he got the eggs and lined them up on the counter, but his face fell when he saw you turn around from the cabinet disappointed.
“What is it?”
“I can’t find the chips,” you frowned.
“Do we really need them?” Tom stuck his finger into the mixing bowl and started to lick the batter off of it.
“Uh, yes, you dummy- hey, get your hands outta there!” You slapped him on the shoulder and stood shocked as he dunked the same hand back in the bowl.
“You monster.”
“Here, y/n, just try it,” he moved his finger to your mouth, and you begrudgingly took it, sucking the chocolate off without breaking eye contact. He grinned at the sheer sexuality of the whole thing.
“Okay, that is really good.”
“See, it’s fine without the chips.” Tom started to chuckle as he looked at you with an amused expression.
“What is it?”
“You’ve got a little-” he motioned to his own mouth, “chocolate.” You felt your face flush as he used his thumb to swipe away the batter coating your upper lip.
“Well I’m gonna look again,” you said, shuffling to a cabinet and peering in for the chocolate chips. A moment later-
“Found them!”
“Nice, babe,” Tom cheered, for the first time ever going to smack your butt as you whisked by him again. You always just put him in such a good mood.
As his hand came in contact with your backside you involuntarily let out a soft mmmm sound, halting movement immediately and eyes going wide as you heard it come out. Tom deadpanned at you and pursed his lips together, one eyebrow raised way high above the other.
“Uh, y/n, what was that?”
“Wha- nothing, I don’t know what you’re talking about-”
He looked around confused and landed his eyes back on you.
“Coulda sworn I heard a moan come from somewhere...”
You were sure your face was as red as the sun and you started giggling incessantly, unable to look him in the eyes.
Tom made a realization. “Woah, are you into that?!” more laughing, more blushing. “Oh my god, you have a spanking thing.” His expression changed from wonder to sudden intrigue.
“Nuh-uh,” you said, but you knew he was already onto you. You two were best friends—you knew how to read each other like an open book.
“Okay, well then you won’t mind if I-” Tom’s hand met your butt again and your eyes flittered as you bit your lip without meaning to. He saw every ounce of it.
“Holy shit. You do.”
You turned around to face him and noticed he had gotten much closer, taking a serious interest in your lips. “That’s...pretty hot.” You looked into his suddenly lustful eyes and closed yours, moving into him to invite him to kiss you, which he did quite happily. It turned into a heated makeout session quick, neither of you realizing until now how badly you had wanted this for so long. He made it a point to grab your ass and squeeze hard every minute or so, each time leading up to a piece of clothing coming off. Before you knew it, you were only in a t-shirt with no panties, and he was down to his boxers, still in the middle of the kitchen.
Tom’s hands kneaded your hips and butt as he softened his voice to speak again. “y/n, is this something you want?”
You looped your hand around his neck to pull him close and kiss him again, feeling him smile underneath your lips.
“Very much, Tommy.”
He hoisted you onto the counter so your hips were level with one another, and you sat back on the countertop, tugging at the tops of his shorts and finally getting them down to the floor.
“Come here,” you purred, motioning with your finger for him to move closer, and you dipped it into the bowl of brownie batter next to you. You held out your finger right in front of your mouth, and he moved his face to yours, slowly sucking it off, unblinking. He pulled your hips towards the edge of the counter and leaned over you so your noses were touching, both of you full of excited nerves and adrenaline at finally moving beyond friendship. You whispered onto his lips, “show me what I’ve been missing out on.”
He felt a riptide course through his body at your words and sank himself into you, making you both quiver in each other’s grasp at reaching this new level of closeness. He crazily clawed at your hips and ass coming off the counter as he thrusted in and out of you, having you trying to stifle back audible moans but failing miserably. You got brownie batter on his back as you tried to pull him closer to you; to feel him even more, and you couldn’t stop kissing each other, trying to turn an act of pure passion into something sweet.
“Tommy, oh my god-”
“Christ, sweetheart, you’re amazing-”
“I love you s-so much-”
“I love you too-”
He had you up in the clouds, your whole body trembling, and you kissed him with force as you came together, sputtering each other’s names and variations of i-love-you’s as you slowly fell from your highs.
You sat on the counter as he stood over you, still breathing into each other’s faces, but nothing but smiles painting your expressions.
“That was...wow. You’ve had that just hiding away all this time and didn’t think to tell me?!” you giggled at him.
“Better late than never, right?” He leaned over to kiss your forehead, then your cheek, then your nose, nuzzling it with his own.
“Speaking of batter,” you said, Tom returning your pun with the biggest eye roll, “do you think we should finish making these brownies?”
He grinned at you. “Duh.”
You went to rest your arms back on the counter, still alight with the feeling of Tom inside you, but were jolted into cognizance as you heard two loud cracks and felt something slimy coat your hands.
“What the-?!” you bolted upright and brought your hands in front of your face.
Tom gasped loudly. “Oh shit, the eggs!”
