(A bit late because I forgot, BUT)
DnDads Live show AMSTERDAM *.✧
All favorite parts and quotes of the chaos that happened in Amsterdam. This one is going to be long yall
Darryl's Amsterdam dad fact: he has been to Amsterdam before, but was so afraid of the red light district that he avoided ALL red lights (including those of traffic lights. So he ended up never leaving his hotel room)
At the same venue one day after the live show, there was a smut book convention lol, so Henry's Amsterdam dad fact was that he and Mercedes would go visit that
Ron's Amsterdam dad fact: he's banned from photographer's dark rooms, because he thought it was the red light district
We got the SMASH DADDIES oneshot
And Anthony's first note in the envelope was: "some sort of justification for a battle royale"
We got: all dads, all teens, THE MOTHMANS from Sons & sonsability and the PCs from the mountain of dadness. They all played 4 characters
It was so chaotic
Freddie went back and forth between Glenn and Taylor to compliment himself
AND AND Sons & sonsability co-DM Amanda Schuckman was also in the audience?? So she just joined on stage for the whole show!!
AND HERMIE WAS ALSO IN IT
The first time Anthony talked in the Hermie voice, one person very very loudly booed and Anthony went like "one guy booed and I agree"
"Martf [?? I don't know who that is?] I love your really long penis" ~ Ron
And then he got strangled with his own penis by Glenn
Elizabeth Mothman (beth): "I'm going to kill the hand." Anthony: "how are you going to do that?" Elizabeth Mothman: "I'm going to roll." Anthony: "... not what I meant."
HENRY (from S1) TELLING NORMAL THAT HE THINKS THAT HIS DAD IS GOING TO BE SO SO PROUD OF HIM :')
The group literally broke the game by killing the boss with 2x nat 20s on intimidation in a row
And then we got a DUNGEON (like Anthony wanted). A red light district dungeon where they had to find a magical bike helmet
(There was also a sheep minotaur but that wasn't used (I still really want to draw it tho))
And Paeden was there.
Darryl: "Paeden? I don't think you're allowed to be here." Paeden: "this is where I become a man."
"Roll a dexterity saving throw as a bike is going to run you over" ~ Anthony
Henry is convinced that he's in Berlin and can take his clothes off in the middle of street (??) And someone in the audience really loudly cheered
"She's far worse than a vampire, or a werewolf. She's a 40 year old woman."
HERMIE AGAIN. He was in almost every red light district dungeon room (it was less weird than it sounds now)
The dads basically had to make Anthony/Hermie feel physical or emotional pain (in the pain pain pain room) and feel love (in the love&embrace room)
"I'm not here to open my mind. I'm here to open my mouth: ~ Ron to Henry who was trying to convince the other dads to eat a plantburger at McDonalds
Henry trying to make Anthony fall in love with him: "Do you have a secret hunch on how you're going to die?" Anthony: "Yes. On stage. In Amsterdam."
THEY ALL SUNG THE GASTON SONG AS KARAOKE TOGETHER (we gave our inspiration to get them to do that."
Anthony took off his shirt during the song.
NORMAL ASKED OUT HERMIE
Darryl the wingman: "you should go on a date because you never know how long you will be alive." 💀
Hermie ACCEPTED
Freddie had a whole speech about whatever he was talking about, made a whole buildup to get everyone to pull out their phones and scan the QR-code
It was a webshop to buy a bicycle helmet
They really managed to shit as much as possible on the fact that Dutch people almost never wear a bicycle helmet lol
All people who had bought one at the end got free stuff from Anthony and Freddie tho!! Since this was the last show of the tour
It was REALLY GREAT!! Absolutely feel free to add things to this list! I made a lot of notes but absolutely didn't catch everything :D

Parents ! (Child Mercs comic update)
Tumblr media
LOOK AT THEMMM !!!
So ! I've been working on the child mercs comic and figured I might do some more charadesigns (and some props later ;) )
I don't know if I'll need every one of them in the comic, I don't even know if I'll need ANY of them, but it was fun to make.
Tumblr media
I only drew one of each merc's parents (for those who had two)
I have a few things to say about their designs, I'll try not to be boring:
Heavy's mom: You may think that "that's not how Heavy's mom looks like, she has a blue dress and a red thing in her hair" and yes you'd be correct, and that's what I was going for at first. BUT, remember this is when the mercs where children, she did not look like that, she looked probably more like this:
Tumblr media
so I went off that. I still gave her the Idon'tknowwhatyoucallitthing in her hair. It just looks so good on her.
Medic's Mom: I just love her. She's a tall thin woman with fluffy hair, and she looks so sweet !
Demo's Mom: Nothing much to say I just went off her earliest apparition in the comics. And, may I just say, as an artist, I don't like the colors of her clothes, they just don't go with each other. I did change the color of the strips on her skirt a little bit but still...
Engineer's dad: Yeah, another one that already exist in the canon, nothing changed much here either. Since, in the comic i'm going to make, they are all going to live in a small town, I took his helmet off and changed his overalls for more... "casual" ones. He's not a mercenary yet.
I referenced some pictures of work overalls and actually made him look too modern and had to change it a bit.
Spy's dad: I was afraid of doing spy's dad because I didn't want to make just a copy of spy. And I also didn't want to make another mom, we already have three of those X). So I played around for a while, looking at 20s and 50s clothes, and I think in the end I manage to get the spy vibe without drawing spy, if you see what I mean.
here are some of my research for him. Pretty basic:
Tumblr media
Now you may notice, among the chid mercs I made, one is missing: Soldier.
I just have a very hard time imagining his parents, or just him having parents. Either he was raised in an orphanage, his parents weren't very present for him or he got raised by racoon in a dumpster, i don't know, but I just don't see him having a "normal" family.
In the comic I plan, this won't really be brought up, like in the official lore it will kind of be a mystery :)
Anyway, sorry for the long post. Hope you like them !

It's taken me two weeks but I finally finished all of my qsmp egg human designs!!!
I have a lot to say about the design choices I made, so I'll put those under the read more if you want to hear my headcanons!!
• Click for better quality (17/07/2023)
_____
Some general headcanons:
• In order of shortest to tallest it goes: Bobby, Richalyson, Gegg, Tallulah, Tilín, Trump, JuanaFlippa, Pomme, Chayanne, Leonarda, Ramón, and Dapper.
• All of the eggs when found were wearing the same white vest/t-shirt and black shorts combination; along with their unique accessories. Any clothes that they're currently wearing, were gifted to them by the player characters.
• All of the eggs are the same age, and are all related (pretty sure that's canon tho).
• The eggs take on physical features from their parents, as an survival instinct. This includes basics such as hair and eye colour. But also includes things such as height and hair type.
• Eggs who's parents are avian/have bird-like features (such as wings), will adapt to have the same wing type as them. This also applies to other eggs, who are taken care of by avian players (see: Tallulah has dragon wings, but is growing black and golden feathers on them).
• The lower half of the eggs are dragon-esque; with scaley legs and clawed feet. The colour of their scales and number of toes that they posses are fixed and cannot be changed. Their ears and horn are a unique shape and colour, depending on the egg. The horns will continue to grow into adulthood.
They also have more naturally sharpened nails (like claws (but not sharp enough to hurt)).
_____
Tallulah
• Wears one of Wilbur's yellow sweaters, the sleeves often hanging over her hands. The red dress she wears is actually meant to be a pinafor, which is a staple part of a primary school uniform, here in the UK. They're most commonly grey, which I originally coloured it but it didn't look right, so I changed it.
• Has a freckle under her right eye (to her) that matches Wilbur, but also has a reverse freckle pattern of Quackity (I'm a tntduo-er (sue me)).
• Due to being cared for by Phil, she has begun growing small, black feathers on her wings. She also has a few golden ones, which started appering whilst trying to get Quackity to confess to Wilbur.
___
Chayanne
• Takes after Phil the most, due to Missa's absence. This includes his wings becoming feathered crow ones, growing feathers on his face and tail, and has a hair and an eye colour to match Phil's. He also has a matching mole.
• Sometimes wears a helmet made from a large eggshell, painted to look like a skull (a nod to Missa and the fact that the eggs are... well, eggs). The skull on his t-shirt is also a nod to Missa (but he defo got it from Phil).
• His duck floaty has been replaced by a yellow hoodie, tied around his waist.
___
Tilín
• Remember how I said that the clothes they wear were given to them by their parents? I like the idea (and think it's very in-character for him) that Quackity basically said, "I don't have any clothes for you, so just wear this until I find some", giving Tilín one of his jackets, and then they Tilín passed away before he could get him something else.
• He and Tallulah are the same height (again, I'm a tntduo-er (yes I am aware that Tilín's other parent has been confirmed to be Luzu, but this is my post so SHUSH). Also, similar to Tallulah, they have the same freckle pattern as Quackity, and an opposite placed freckle (under their left eye) to Wilbur.
• Has golden wings and feathers on face. Doesn't has a tail, due to low placement of their wings.
___
JunaFlippa
• Wears one of Slime's white t-shirts with the three red hearts. Also owns a pair of Mariana's red gloves (not included in the drawing).
• Her wings have small holes in them, due to going to hell and coming back again.
• Gun.
• Her hair colour is closest to Slimecicle's, but it's unknown why her eyes are green (not brown like Mariana or blue like Slime).
___
Bobby
• The smallest of all the eggs.
• From Jaiden he has her wings, bang and hair sprout pattern and colour. From Roier he has his multiple eyes (bc spider), eye colour, and wears one of his bandanas like him.
(I forgot to include the paint stains on his clothes, but he has those too).
___
Leonarda
• Has small, rainbow mushrooms growing from their horns.
• From Foolish she has wings of gold (yes, you heard me. Leo's wings aren't like Tilín's with golden feathers, but are literally made from gold (yes she can still fly with them)). From Vegetta they have his hair and eye colour.
___
Trump
• Was given one of Dan's turtlenecks and jackets, which were never replaced because, 1) Dan went "missing", 2) he [Trump] died before getting anything else.
(On another note, it was so wild for me to draw that jacket. I used to be a HUGE DanTDM fan, and the last time I drew fanart relating to him was in 2016/17)).
• Took after Maxo in hair and eye colour.
___
Dapper
• The tallest egg (bc qBBH is one tall motherfucker). • Obviously, all of his features come from BBH, including the shape of his horns and the shape of his tail.
(if you were to put Dapper and BBH next to each other, Dapper would literally just look like a tiny BBH).
___
Pomme
• Her beret isn't all black like her egg model, but looks like a red apple.
• Has split-coloured scales (one side blue, the other red) to match the placement of the markings on her egg model.
• Has golden duck wings to match Baghera. I went back and forth on whether to give her those or the butterfly wings she wears in-game. But I like the idea that those are more simialr to those fancy-dress type ones you can buy.
• The bottom of her dress has an apple stiched onto it.
___
Ramón
• Second tallest egg.
• Yes he has hair under the hat (I haven't made him bald, don't worry). The hat itself is a nod to Spreen, who is his other parent but hasn't logged on in a while. His general outfit is also mean to have belonged to Spreen, as his Minecraft skin is just a bear in Steve's clothes.
I changed the pants, and added a white shirt and monocle because I like the idea that he's a bit of a fancy boy.
• The moustache on his egg model is represented in his hair, which you can see sticking out from under the hat (bc, like Chayanne, I had no idea how to get it to work in a logical sense).
___
Richarlyson
• The second shortest egg.
• I'll be completely honest, I have no idea where the prosthetic leg headcanon came from for him, but I liked it so I included it. The leg I gave him is a running blade, as he is a fairly active kid.
• His hair covers his eyes, but underneath they are brown.
___
Gegg
(Yes I'm including Gegg, shush)
• His whole body is green goop. This is how qSlime would also look, but it's easier for him to have his skin appear human, when at his "correct" size. When he [Slime] becomes over emotional/damged, his skin becomes more slime like.
Gegg is qSlime's way of coping with both his own daughter's loss and also his own self image. Because of this, he is always in a state of hurt, and this is refelected in Gegg's physical appearance.
• Has sticks sticking out of him, as well as visible bones, rocks, and other debris within his body. They get stuck in his him, in moments where he has a hard time controling the stickiness/consistency of his body.
• Doesn't have horns, wings, or a tail like the other eggs. Instead, he wears a pair of green, fancy-dress, dragon wings. It's obvious to other players/eggs- because they're on the outside of his clothes- but no points it out.
• Jorts.
• His t-shirt says "gegg" upside down, because he wrote it on himself, whilst wearing the shirt.
• No nose. His eyes also hover inconsistently over where his hair should cover them. His glasses are also just qSlime's.
• Gegg for president.

Here's the full lineup, for anyone who read alllll of that :D

I think Tumblr likes the COLLEGE AU and I love the AUs…. THEN GABRIEL PLAYS THE VIOLIN (the original idea) AND THE KEYBOARD WHY NOT.
The fanfic was inspired by: https://www.tumblr.com/themachine/742337025681850368/happy-friends-day-everybody
If you are willing to read 2725 words of a work in progress about Gabriel and V1 here it is: *English is not my first language so sorry if there are mistakes, this is mostly translated with an online translator and some corrections by me.
Gabriel really didn't expect to find some dusty old belongings when he returned to his parents' house for a small family dinner with his mother, his two older brothers and a few other relatives he's not very close to. He didn't expect to find Michael so excited when his mother pointed out that he was in the attic, nor did he expect Michael to have taken most of the items out of the boxes when he got there.
The items were scattered on the floor, a few other boxes and the small folding table they kept there. Most of it was his father's stuff, junk or trash he doesn't care about but knows his mother doesn't have the heart to throw away; not when it's the last memories she has of his father before he disappeared.
Gabriel remembers him: a tall, elegant man, extremely strict and whom he had very little time to be around. Even his brothers, who should have known him better, don't know much about him either.
Now, standing here in the dusty air caused by Michael snooping and rummaging through boxes, Gabriel looks around. The attic is not small although neither is his house so he finds it normal. They keep huge amounts of antiques from his grandparents and even great-grandparents or older ancestors that he has only heard stories about. For example: an old desk that belonged to a writer in his family, one of those huge clocks that he remembers they had for a long time in their living room and that he still remembers jumping out of fright every time it rang, Raphael's old drum set is also lying around dismantled and of course Michael's cello in a corner next to the drums on the floor.
Gabriel looks at them and clearly remembers that these things didn't go there, these used to be in a deeper part of the attic.
"What are you looking at Gabe?"
The young man turned his head when he detected his brother's voice and silently motioned with his head towards the instruments. The man walked over, standing next to Gabriel to look at what he was referring to.
"Ah those old things? Well, I thought I'd take my cello to practice again and Raphael wanted his drums too." Michael explained as he folded his arms and then hummed softly, Gabriel raised an eyebrow under his helmet without turning to look at him. "Just in case you want to know…" Michael said slowly, moving closer to Gabriel to slip an arm around his neck and leaning his weight on him.
This couldn't be good.
"Your keyboard and violin are in the back…" GOD DAMN- "I don't mean you should use them, you know…I was just reminding you in case you want them back or want to do something with them." Michael had to have felt him tense up and he definitely did; the way he gently bumped the sides of their heads together with the slight click of the metal of their helmets touching, the way he stroked his back reassuringly, the way he let him go when he felt Gabriel stir.
"You can get rid of them, you don't have to keep them." The older man reminded him by giving him a friendly pat on the shoulder before releasing him completely. "If you want them go ahead, they're in the back on the left… Call me if you need help with anything, yes?" Michael said as he walked away with Gabriel giving him a simple thumbs up in affirmation mode and drawing a chuckle from Michael as he gently shook his head. Sometimes he wondered where his brother had picked up such quiet habits.
When Gabriel watched Michael disappear down the stairs he turned around, hesitating for a second whether to actually go further into the attic but after a few seconds he decided to do so, sighing and spreading his wings to illuminate the area.
The further he goes in he can see more and more boxes, some sealed with tape and others just closed, others possibly opened by Michael and resting on or at the foot of some rotting furniture.
After poking around a bit Gabriel manages to get to the bottom, catching a somewhat large object that is covered by a dark tarp.
Gabriel swallows.
He reaches over, reaching down to drag the heavy tarp off the object's surface and drop it to the ground, revealing what's underneath: his old keyboard.
Okay, one of two… Where's the other one? Gabriel scans the area with his eyes, settling his attention on an old chair where, on the seat, rests a case now whitish thanks to the accumulated dust. Gabriel reaches over, running a hand over it in an attempt to clean it up a bit though it only spreads it further and decides to leave it alone, picking it up and taking it with him to where the keyboard is.
Gabriel used to love these things, don't get him wrong, but now that he remembers their existence and knows that Michael also knows they are here he doesn't hesitate to have his brother tell his mother about his rediscovery and his plans with his old cello. Gabriel's mother is a bit… intense when it comes to music or dance or waltz or whatever it is she likes.
She had made her 3 children practice ballet, she had rehearsed them for the fancy parties that were organized among the rich families in an attempt to make them gentlemen who knew how to waltz well with the damsels, she had put them in an orchestra and also a choir and of course she had made them attend church. It had been fun for a while; when they could play together and have fun or when they practiced anything whenever. But when Michael and Raphael began to have more duties and obligations they began to drift away; leaving Gabriel alone to face it all.
He danced, played, sang, attended mass every Sunday and was a good student until he too could quit like his brothers.
He remembers the moment when his mother informed him that he could stop his extracurricular activities, he remembers how he simply covered his keyboard and put away his violin for the last time one day and never played them again. He knows the same thing happened to his bible now lying somewhere in the bedroom he shares with V1, abandoned when he stumbled upon the blue machine that slowly pulled him away from the path of God his family had instilled in him to follow.
Ah… V1.
Well, now he no doubt knows someone who will be interested in the instruments. He doesn't plan to give them to them, he still loves them and wants to try them again but surely he can lend them to them if they ask for them. Taking them to them sounds like a good idea since besides cheering up the machine he has for a roommate he can practice and try to de-rust a bit before the recital he is sure his mother will force convince them to do.
Gabriel made a mental note to take them with him tomorrow morning when he went back to his dorm, maybe carrying them there won't be so comfortable but it will certainly be worth it to see V1, his friend, happy.
The dinner went well, honestly much better than he expected and he was happy with that. Especially since he managed to avoid all the questions about the church he attended, his schedule or if he had already conquered a lady. Of course he had! But it's different to ask that question than to ask if a lady had conquered him, because certainly hadn't. Not when there was a cerulean machine waiting for him in his apartment… FRIENLY- THEY'RE HIS FRIENDS. HE JUST LIKED THEM.
Anyway… It was good. Certainly much better than the last family dinner they had at Christmas. Gabriel never wants to see Michael angry again, that much is clear to him.
He doesn't remember why they had started fighting because, honestly, he hadn't been paying attention. Gabriel was more interested in eating or thinking about what he would do when he got back to his bedroom, thinking about the gift he had bought for V1 that was now hiding in his closet: a replica gun from a game that V1 had been looking for for some time now and that Gabriel had found in perfect condition at a garage sale. Even packaged and with its 4 coins! With the 'Marksman' in his possession V1 almost completed their collection.
Gabriel felt a little proud to have found it. It's old, he knows that, and he also knows that V1 would love it.
He was so deep in thought at the time that he didn't even notice when the voices around him began to raise and only noticed when a bump on the table made him jump in place and nearly spill the spoonful of mashed potato that was going straight into his mouth.
Ah… Another family situation. Nothing new for the times.
Whatever, the point is that this dinner was better than Christmas. And if you'd like to know: yes, V1 absolutely loved the gift. And Gabriel received a new microphone that he had been wanting to buy for a long time: now he could better record his little audios and attempts at home podcasts.
To commemorate the gift V1 opened it carefully, not wanting to damage anything in the slightest because: 1, it was a collector's item and 2, it was a gift from Gabriel. Instead the microphone was lightly tested, saving the real test for later when V1 received an audio from Gabriel that DEFINITELY tested the capabilities of the device.
V1 saved the audio.
Even if it was a silly audio of Gabriel basically mumbling into the microphone in a seductive, gravelly voice that he would kick their ass if they left a mess in the apartment again.
V1 saved the audio.
And now there was Gabriel, walking across campus in the direction of his shared residence hall with a keyboard under his arm and a violin case in his other hand along with his backpack on his back. It was less uncomfortable than he thought it would be although being a 6 foot tall, heavily muscled guy he doubted he would have much trouble with lifting that amount of weight.
When he found himself in front of the door he thought about knocking and waiting to see if the machine was home in the hope that they would open it for him but when he distinguished the sound of an electric guitar on the other side he considered that it would be better not to disturb them in one of their practices.
He fumbled to pass the violin case to his other hand and used the now free one to rummage in his pants pocket for his keys, snapping them into the lock when he found them and turning it to open the lock. The door opened and he was glad when the old hinge didn't squeak knowing that V1 had oiled it as he had asked.
He walked in closing the door behind him and finding his living room in a much better state than he thought it would be. The cushions were a bit of a mess but other than that everything was in its place: the small coffee table was clean with nothing on it, the bookshelves were still tidy, the couches weren't out of place and there was no junk around.
It was a relief.
The familiar sound of the electric guitar quieted for a moment and left him in total silence as he placed the keyboard on the larger couch and on it he laid the violin case, then as he took off his backpack Gabriel gave a nod and at the same time the guitar restarted loudly as Gabriel knew it would. The angel could easily imagine V1 doing the same as him only in a more passionate way and lost in the frenzy of the song: more intense and violent.
He took off his coat, leaving it hanging on the coat rack in the entryway as he made his way down the hallway humming the guitar melody before catching one of the lyrics and singing it quietly.
Rock hadn't been something he'd listened to much growing up, much less metal but he'd certainly grown fond of it since V1 started showing them to him and unconsciously, or consciously, they had become two of his favorite genres. He would deny it with V1, feigning annoyance when the machine would put music on the speakers or when they played a song he knew but they would quickly catch Gabriel humming softly or bobbing his head to the music but would say nothing about it. They would let it happen and enjoy the company in the moment.
At the end of the hallway was the bathroom and before that were the two rooms of the apartment: one facing the other. The doors matched and Gabriel remembers how more than once they both tried to leave at the same time without being aware of each other's presence and how they bumped into each other. At first they were annoyed, really only Gabriel was, but slowly as their friendship grew they both took it more gracefully; like a little attunement.
They learned each other's schedules so it didn't happen so often. Gabriel gets up first thing, at 5am to shower and take his time in the bathroom, at 5:30 the bathroom is free for V1 to use at 6am when they wake up and when they leave breakfast is prepared and ready on the table: blood and whatever Gabriel is going to eat. At 6:30 the dishes are clean and they both share the bathroom to finish getting ready: V1 wipes the unabsorbed or dried blood off the plating and Gabriel does whatever it is that angels do under that helmet of his. V1 still doesn't understand it, they just know it's like washing his mouth or brushing his teeth or something… Oh, and that Gabriel doesn't take off his helmet… Just like he doesn't take it off to eat.
Peeking through V1's half-open doorframe Gabriel watches them from behind, strumming the strings of their guitar with fervor and excitement as they nod their head before the song ends and thus they too must hit their last note.
The angel leans back against the door and watches fondly as the machine sucks in air and listens as the fans spin in the sudden silence, the machine's chest rises and falls in pseudo breaths in an attempt to keep their components cool after the intense movement and Gabriel laughs softly as he claps his hands, making the machine turn their head in his direction.
"Good job there, that sounds great!" Gabriel complimented as he walked into the room, V1 turning fully around to sign a 'thank you'.
"How was your weekend?" Gabriel asked approaching the robot who already knew his intentions since they saw him walking towards them slightly opening his arms.
"Pretty good. We practiced a lot and made progress on a few songs. How about you?" V1 signed before opening their arms and accepting Gabriel between them, letting themselves be squeezed by the strong angel in front of them.
"I'm glad you had a good time." Gabriel murmured sweetly, slouching down and resting his chin on the machine's shoulder. "A good family dinner, you know how they usually are…" Gabriel whispered soothingly, closing his eyes as he enjoyed the affection and feel of the metal of V1's arms around him.
"I also have something to show you." Gabriel hummed, pulling away and placing his hands on V1's shoulders. At the man's words the robot perked up, pulling away from him to bounce in place with excitement and curiosity, drawing a chuckle from Gabriel.
"Come, follow me." He said, sliding his hand down his companion's arm and taking their hand before leading them out of the room. V1 didn't complain, this had been something Gabriel had been doing unconsciously for the past few weeks and V1 found it harmless, almost cute if not charming.

Rebels Rewatch: "Steps Into Shadow"
Everything is all shaken up for Season Three, let's go.
So I know I said I really like it when shows change up the Status Quo but...
Some of the changes took a bit of getting used to in Season Three. I'll admit it.
(It's the hair, Ezra's hair took getting used to, I believe my exact reaction was, "Nooooooo not the cute shaggy shonen protagonist hair!" I'm okay with it now and it's hella easier to draw but it was a bit of a mourning period.)
So! Season Three begins six months after the end of Season Two. Everyone has had a cosmetic upgrade. They're all older. Ezra is seventeen. *cries*
Ezra had his seventeenth birthday offscreen while he and Kanan were not on speaking terms.
*sobbing forever*
Anyway we open In Media Res with the Spectres (minus Kanan) pulling off a jailbreak.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh it is absolutely not a coincidence that our first sight of Ezra this season has him bathed in shadow.
Sabine and Ezra casually bantering mid-mission and Ezra being seamlessly badass. <3
That cute little fond smile of Ezra's when he sees Hondo. T_T
Ohhhh I remember when people were freaking out over just how casually Ezra shoots this Stormtrooper with a blaster very obviously not set to stun. It's such a contrast from "Stealth Strike" in which he promises not to hurt any of them. He's taken some parts of Maul's words to heart, sadly, and now he's acting like a proper soldier in a war.
Ouch.
Don't mind me appreciating Ezra and Sabine's brief battle tag-teaming moment here.
Tumblr media
As if the Luke parallels were not strong enough, Ezra's new lightsaber--after a harrowing fight against Darth Vader in which he lost his other one--is green. And sue me, I love his green lightsaber, it's my favorite.
Also a big fan of how Ezra demolishes this whole hallway of Stormtroopers by himself. He doesn't even blink.
"Is that really Ezra?" "Most of the time." The meaning behind this exchange is ambiguous and there are plural interpretations. I think Sabine is referring to how utterly serious he is, no stopping, no delays, all-business. We only really saw him banter and smile with the others when on their way in, once the reinforcements arrived it was all go time.
It really isn't Ezra's fault that Terba got killed. But Ezra's Hero Complex, Guilt Complex, and sense of hyper-responsibility are all colliding and making him take the blame on himself for not having complete 100% control of the situation, also why he snaps at Hera later for griping about just that.
Tumblr media
Never not gonna love Ezra as leader with Sabine as his competent lieutenant. <3
The Force Theme goes creepily off-tune here. This is NOT a Jedi Mind Trick. This is Force Dominate and yes, it is a Dark Side power.
This scene is deliberately uncomfortable. It's almost like possession, like Ezra using the AT-DP pilot like a meat puppet.
Tumblr media
Sabine looking Very Concerned as she watches what Ezra does here. :)
There's just a moment where they hold on the shots of the AT-DP's legs and Ezra's feet, juuuuuuust to give you enough time to comprehend the horror.
"When did Kanan teach you that?" There's just a smidge of discomfort in Sabine's voice here, she knows full well that's not something normal.
Ezra's "I did what I had to do." here is a bit needlessly defensive, Hera didn't offer any commentary in judgement at all, he's just instinctively already verbally flinching about it because he knows it was wrong.
We can already see the effects of Malachor on Ezra, he's angrier than usual and bristles at Hera's criticism.
"Ah the fiery spirit of youth, eh?" "It's not all bad." Hera looks so SAD here. :( There's so much unspoken sorrow. You can hear a certain frustration and helplessness.
Cut to Ezra having the expected angst session in his room. The holocron, sensing his anger, lights up, making his cadet helmet (the one Sabine painted for him, that's supposed to represent a sense of safety) look creepily demonic.
"You can see things clearly your friends cannot." Ohhhhh you absolute bitch, that specific turn of phrase is meant to dig at Ezra's guilt over Kanan's blindness isn't it? Ezra even repeats it. "They can't see..." This scene here, his speech, is the lynchpin of his entire experiment with the Dark Side; his guilt over Malachor is eating him up and like Anakin before him he's resolved to never let it happen again. So he must become stronger, more powerful. His fear of further loss--his attachment--is leading him down the same dangerous path.
It hurts so good, it's such good angst.
Tumblr media
THERE SHE IS, MY FAVORITE FABULOUS BITCH.
She's awful. I love her. <3
The entire crew being so Done with Hondo lol.
Heeeeeeey remember how I talked about how a large part of Rebels the show is how the Ghost crew in particular helps put the Alliance together piece by piece, ship by ship?
Yeah these are the Y-wings that take part in the Battle of Yavin.
Sato promoting Ezra, awwwww. The sheer respect these two have now. Sabine and Zeb are very happy for him and Hera says Kanan would be too and ow ow ow the lined hurt in Ezra's face when he points out that Kanan is never around anymore.
The man himself has grown a Sadness!Beard and is in such inner turmoil that it's woken the Bendu, whose voice we hear calling to him.
I really feel for Hera, trying to mediate between her two Jedi, who are both hurting and both avoiding each other, the frustration and anguish she must feel.
Perhaps nudged by her words Kanan does try to pay Ezra a visit to talk... aaaaaaaand immediately discovers the open holocron.
Tumblr media
Ohhh this conversation hurts. Ezra's so angry and hurt by Kanan seemingly abandoning him and all Kanan can think about is protecting him from the holocron's influence and he must feel like such a failure as a teacher, especially when Ezra yells about how he doesn't need Kanan.
:((((
Rebels says vehicle registrations and tolls are tyranny lol.
Right so, mistake number one: Running instead of playing cool. The Alliance does have a small amount of funds and they could easily forge a ship registration. Give the Mining Guild fake credentials, pay the fee, and they could have bought enough time to deflect suspicion for an hour maybe.
Yeah the krykna aren't any less creepy.
Hi Bendu!
The Bendu is an interesting addition to the lore. He seems in the vein of the Mortis Gods, an ancient entity in tune with the Force, though the normal rules of such don't apply to him. He's a neutral party, possibly representative of the spirit of nature, which is neither Light nor Dark it just is. His True Neutral alignment would later be challenged by Kanan but for now he seems a helpful ally, offering to assist Kanan learn how to "see" through the Force. (I do like to joke that he's trying to get all the Force noise to calm down so he can go back to sleep.)
Mixed feelings on how Kanan's blindness is handled. Would have liked to see more of a recovery/coping arc, but a lot of the little subtle hints and nods they do in later episodes are really effective at showing how he's adapted. And then there are the odd moments where Rebels writers forget he's blind entirely. So there's some room for improvement.
Also he should have been allowed to make some blind jokes. DON'T @ ME THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN HILARIOUS.
Ezra: "No witnesses! 😠" Sabine: "Dude WTF?" Love how even though his Dark Side tendencies concern and worry her she's not afraid to push back at him.
Kanan assumes the "source of unbalance" he's carrying is the Sith holocron and confesses his fears that it's corrupting Ezra. The Bendu claims, "An object cannot make you good or evil.", explaining how it's one's mindset that determines that.
Which I mean, point, buuuuuuuut this is also a fictional universe in which the traces of Sith ghosts stuck in soul jars can literally possess you sooooo...
Anyway the scenes of Bendu teaching Kanan how to "see" through the Force are amazing. 10/10 no complaints. Will comment on things as I go just to point them out.
For starters, how about the panic and fear in Kanan when Bendu destroys the sensor beacon? And his angry hopeless, "I can't see anything! Not anymore."?
MEANWHILE WITH THE IMPERIAL DOOM SQUAD:
Tumblr media
*ANGELIC CHORUS*
Hello my favorite blue bastard.
The first hint of Kallus's changed allegiance is here with this vaguely accusatory comment about civilian deaths outnumbering insurgent deaths at Batonn, which Thrawn was promoted for. Pryce calls them "acceptable margins". Timothy Zahn would later reveal in the first new canon Thrawn book that it was her who detonated the bombs that killed everyone. For the moment I will refrain from commenting on his concerning habit of retconing things to absolve Thrawn of anything bad ever and just respond with the appropriate amount of disgust at Pryce.
Always loved the cool effect where everything except Thrawn's red eyes fade out.
Mistake number two: Not calling Hera to tell her, "Hey the Empire is scrapping the bombers literally as we speak." and asking for advice. Hera probably would have consulted Sato and the combined brainpower could have come up with a better plan than "Charge in recklessly and scoop them up against orders without further observation or research."
Even Rex, who backs Ezra up later, thinks they should tell Hera about it first.
"That's an order!" Ouch, Ezra, that is the most insensitive thing you could have said to a former clone trooper.
Ezra's need for control over every possible variant situation (to prevent himself from suffering further loss) is actively making things worse for the mission, not better. He is showing a distinct lack of trust in the command structure, and an almost possessive need to keep his team safe and under his direction.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
No one comments on his bossing them around though, not even Sabine, and into the maelstrom they go.
Hi Brom Titus!
Rex still showing a very slight deathseeker tendency.
Sabine's been taking notes from Hera on flying a ship with no power, clearly, lol.
This cue right here is going to come back later in the climax of the episode. The frantic rapid percussion definitely gives off the feel of "falling".
Love Melch feigning a malfunction he fits right in with Han "slight weapons malfunction" Solo lol.
Tumblr media
Sabine sounds tired and exasperated when she points out the fighters won't have any fuel. I can only imagine the kind of impulsive, reckless, rash leadership decisions she's had to put up with from Dark Side Depression!Ezra for the past few months.
Rex is supportive tho. <3
Bendu going through Kanan's other senses methodically to help him relearn how to navigate. <3
Kanan foresensing the danger Ezra's going to be in from across the galaxy and freaking out about it. <3
I'll be honest I don't quite understand this philosophical mumbo-jumbo but whatever it works, Kanan's got his mojo back and is going to go get his padawan.
Ohhhhhh oh I know this cue right here has been used before, dammit where was it used before?
Hang on... I think it's Kanan's theme?
*goes back to check "Stealth Strike"* No, not there. Ugh, this is gonna bug me.
*checks YouTube* It IS Kanan's theme! Holy crap.
Sabine does not have a good time of it against this Dismantler droid. Zeb's prehensile feet save the day, though. Always love when they get to use those.
Tumblr media
Worried Ezra be worried. <3
Ezra's strained "Oh shit it's mom." tone here lol.
Recall what I said back in "Fire Across The Galaxy" about how the Rebellion will always pull your fat out of the fire even if you've been stupid? Yeah.
Tumblr media
Hera's face when she sees Kanan sitting in the co-pilot chair. <333333
Rex, ah... may not be all mentally here I think the Dismantler droid is bringing up some unpleasant memories.
Tumblr media
The subtle symbolism continues!
This exchange is hilarious. "Yeah, get ready for another demotion." Lol Ezra.
Ezra considers the dilemma for half a second and then chooses violence. Mistake three.
Tumblr media
Chopper pitches a fit about getting in a Y-wing. Given that he was shot down in one, that's understandable.
Tumblr media
This fond smile and headshake at Hondo. <3
Mistake four, not checking to see if the Y-wings had hyperdrives before taking off.
Always love it when one of the kids uses Zeb's "Karabast!" He's a bad influence on them lol.
Tumblr media
All of Ezra's previous bad decisions culminate here, he's stranded on a collapsing station, unable to contact help, and the last thing he heard from Sabine was that the Empire was there. It's not any wonder he's practically breaking down in tears.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"This is wrong, it's all gone wrong!" Well, that's what happens when you choose all the Dark Side options, Ezra. Should have kept a save point.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
:((((((
Taylor's acting here is amazing, Ezra sounds SO lost and scared and desperate and he just wants Kanan to be there.
A bold and serious "Shenanigans" cue as Phoenix Group blazes in to the rescue. <3
And there's that cue that I told y'all would be coming back. :)
This sequence is perfection. Ezra clinging to the station as it falls, Hera flying with such microprecision she misses all the debris flaking off of it, the rushing wind, the music...
Tumblr media
Ezra's shock when he hears Kanan's voice.
Tumblr media
KANAN BATHED IN WHITE LIGHT REACHING OUT TO EZRA AS HE AND THE STATION PLUMMET INTO THE ABYSS.
THE RETURN OF THE ARC WORDS, "I'VE GOT YOU."
THE SOUND DROPPING OUT AS THE FORCE THEME PLAYS SOFTLY AND KANAN TELLS EZRA TO LET GO.
EZRA TRUSTING KANAN, LETTING GO, AND LETTING THE WIND CARRY HIM WITHIN REACH.
Cinematic poetry. <333333333
Hera smiled at first when Kanan told her he'd gotten Ezra buuuuut she's pissed now about the Phantom lol.
Pryce's shade at Konstantine, ha ha.
Thrawn sounded so disappointed too, almost sulky. "That's not the Rebel fleet!" 😠
Major "mom grounding her rebellious teenager" vibes. Love that Zeb and Sabine stick up for him.
Dodonna namedrop!
Tumblr media
I know some people wanted a bit more out of Ezra's flirtations with the Dark Side but personally I think it's fitting that as soon as Kanan and Ezra bury the hatchet he never touches it again. The major impetus behind his running to the holocron was Kanan's distance from him, reinforcing all the self-negative beliefs Ezra had about the whole situation--that it was his fault Kanan was blind, that Kanan blamed him, that he wasn't a worthy student, that he couldn't rely on anyone but himself to get strong enough to protect the people he cared about, that he needed the holocron and the Dark Side to get that strength.
And you'll notice he doesn't quite swear off the thing entirely, he asks after it both here and in the beginning of the next episode, a bit like an addict antsy for their next fix.
(No, fandom, Kanan's "I'll always come back." here was not secret foreshadowing that the writers failed to follow up on in Season Four, it was a straightforward sentiment in the moment.)
Tumblr media
This is a heartwarming sight. <3
This... is my favorite of the season premieres. For obvious reasons.
Once again the main strength is the focus on Kanan and Ezra's fractured relationship as it pieces back together. The action is tightly written and every single element serves its purpose. It's funny, dramatic, heartbreaking...
I don't really have any other words, this episode is just amazing.

Twenty Six
Tumblr media
Pairing: Kenobi!oc x Din Djarin, former Kenobi!oc x Boba Fett.
Summary: Satine and Obi-wan’s daughter fought in the war against the Empire and lost her faith when she lost Mandalore. Until she found him. A lone Mandalorian searching for a Jedi.
Warnings/tags: Trigger warnings for flashbacks: choking, intimate partner violence, explicit consent given but mentions of painful sex and dubcon, mentions of abortion/miscarriage. For the rest of the story: angst and more angst, a little bit of fluff and non-explicit sad smut at the end but mostly angst and violence. Discussions about domestic violence and overall violent and toxic relationships, depictions of ptsd and mentions of torture. It's an emotionally heavy chapter.
Content Warning: This chapter may be confronting for those who have experienced domestic violence. STRICTLY 18+ FOR MATURE THEMES.
Word Count: 9.5k
A/N: Her relationship with Boba has been one of the most interesting ones I've written, and I want to return to the prequel to flesh it out more and I will give him another pov sometime soon as well. It's certainly the darkest relationships I've written, the definition of enemies and lovers. Also as an apology for not updating for like six months it's nearly 10k.

I feel Din gently pulling wet hair out of my face as one part of me shuts down and another awakens. Compartmentalisation I'd called it during the war, but in truth it was shutting down the part of me that was raised by a Jedi in favour of something far more violent. I can almost hear my father pleading with me.
"Kyra, cyar'ika," Din says, trying to bring me back to him by jumping straight into a plan of action. "Solo's coming here to help, now you're awake we'll go to Navarro and-"
"Excuse me," I say quietly in a voice I don't quite recognise, needing to end this and get the truth before we can even think about anything else. "I have some business to take care of."
"Kyra, no," I immediately hear Lando say in recognition of whatever look must be in my eyes but I'm stumbling out of the room and blindly marching down the hallway, disassociation turning to something else with primal rage consuming me body, mind and soul the moment I lay eyes on him and then everything comes rushing back.
"Ah, you're alive," Boba says, standing there without his helmet despite already knowing how this ends.
"You betrayed me," I say numbly before I bodyslam him into the wall with a knife in hand only for him to push me into the opposite one, wrestling the blade from my hand and restraining my wrists to the wall, finding myself jarringly weak after the impact but not that weak.
"Listen here princess-"
"No!" My knee comes up hard between his legs, him having neglected to put on that piece of armour, the shock of the attack leaves me able to break his grip and strike him across the face. My hand reaches for the nearest thing next to me which happens to be a decorative lamp, smashing it over his head before grasping a shard in my hand and bringing it into his neck as I pin him to the wall. "You fucking listen to me!"
"Kyra-" he hisses as I press the edge of the glass into his neck with a shaking hand, hard enough to draw blood. "I had nothing to do with it!"
Even as blood runs down my hand it still does not feel real. "And I'm supposed to believe that?"
"Yes," I hear a voice say and look to see Din of all people with his hands out trying to calm me. "I know you don't remember what happened, I know you want him dead and if you want to kill him then kill him, but he didn't take the child. He got us off the planet and away from the Empire."
"Listen to your boyfriend," Boba says but my mind is too far gone from whatever injuries I sustained to comprehend what I'm being told let alone believe it. "All I wanted was my armour, not this."
"All you wanted was your armour?" I repeat, fueled by madness alone as the broken pieces of my mind put a picture together no matter how ill fitting. "All you wanted was your armour and to keep us there until the Empire arrived?"
"You did that, not me-" he curses again as I dig the glass deeper. "Kyra!"
"Oh, does that hurt?" I ask him and look him in the eye as I begin to twist his mind as Vader once twisted mine. "You know nothing of pain."
"Kyra!" Lando yells once he realises what I'm doing. "Put the glass down."
"Kill him and be done with it," Din says with an edge in his voice I've never heard directed towards me as Boba yells out weakly in pain. "We need to find the child."
"Where is he?" I ask Boba, ignoring Din and Lando's attempts to intervene as I invade the walls of Boba's mind and watch him wince as I dig deeper. "Tell me."
"I don't-"
I slam him against the wall again as Han and Chewie come in running only to quickly come to a halt at seeing me with a shard of glass at Boba Fett's neck. "Where is he!"
"I didn't have anything to do with it!"
The truth does not matter to me, not anymore, not when his blood is staining my hands.
What's another drop?
"Okay," I say calmly, withdrawing my mental attacks along with the glass from his neck. Din cautiously steps closer and I look at Han and Chewie who stand there with blasters in hand and know Han has been waiting for this since the last time we all stood in this city together. "Chewie grab him."
Chewie roars as he grabs Boba who elects not to fight and Han has a blaster at his back as I drag him through the halls with my fist in his clothes, pulling him by the fabric around his throat until we reach that damned room Lando sealed off before I ever agreed to step foot in this city again. The room where I listened to Han being tortured before Vader threw me in there.
The room where my mind was broken for the last time, where Vader finished what he began after the purge. I tried to kill myself on Mandalore so it wouldn't happen, but it did. I begged Boba to kill me so Vader could never harm me again. But he didn't.
And now he can suffer the consequences.
"Kyra you are not what Vader tried to make you in that room," Lando calls from down the hall, him and Din chasing after us with blasters in hand. "Luke-"
"Isn't here," I say as I use my saber to cut open the sealed room and Chewie throws Boba inside. He and Han block the exit as I come to stand over him, Din and Lando running now in pure panic as I look at the saber in my hand with no inhibition left.
Boba looks up at me and truly realises for the first time I am not the same girl who walked into this room. I can see it in his eyes, the trauma, his father falling to the same weapon, his head rolling on the ground.
Perhaps I am cruel enough to do the same to him, but not yet. Not until he is begging me to kill him as I once begged him to do to me. Only then will he know what true pain is.
"I am going to show you exactly what happened in this room," I tell him, Han holding a hand out to stop Lando from intervening while Din stands there silent. "But first you will tell me where my child is."
"You can torture me all you want, but I didn't have a hand in this," he swears to me. "Search your feelings or whatever the fuck you Jedi do, you know I didn't."
"Kyra," Lando warns me, choosing to be the insufferable voice of reason in Luke's absence and I realise Luke had prepared him for this very situation because the words he speaks are not his own. "This isn't you. You swore you would never become what Vader wanted to make you, only the weak give in to the darkness. You don't use the force to make people suffer."
"I don't need to use the force to make him suffer," I answer and bend down in front of Boba, brandishing my saber and bringing it close to his face, ignoring my father's voice trying to break through the veil separating his ghost from this world. "I don't believe a word you say."
"I loved you," Boba says to me as if that matters now but it's enough to make something burn inside of me. "I came to you on Tatooine to protect you against the Empire, why would I fucking send them after you!"
"Because that is who you are!" I yell, knowing only one thing. He comes and my child is taken. Nothing else matters. "A traitor. To me, to Mandalore-"
"That might be true," he says, sacrificing his dignity for the sake of his life. "But I still loved you."
Four years I'd known him. Four years I'd loved him for better and for worse. From after the first Death Star was destroyed until that day at Jabba's palace. Never once had he spoke those words to be.
"I don't have time for this," I scoff in exasperation, wielding my saber too freely for Lando's liking. "My child is gone."
"I loved you right from the start Kyra," he tells me, trying to provoke me into giving him a quick death but Jedi do not kill in anger and so I put my saber away. I will not use a Jedi's weapon to strike in anger, and so I pull free a blade instead. "But you know that."
I laugh now, shaking my head in utter disbelief at that claim. "You ruined me right from the start-"
But it's his next words that make me lose control of my emotions. "You were the one who wanted it."
"I was barely nineteen!" I scream at him, remembering it all too well. "I was a kid!"
"So tell me," I asked him during that very first fight after he'd brought me to Mandalore. "Are you the same as the bounty hunters who gave me over to the Inquisitors for some extra credits, the same as the men who stood by while a ten year old girl screamed for help?"
He was quiet and put his helmet on the table, taking a step forward toward me. "The Jedi took children screaming from their parents all the time, killed my father in front of me. They were no different from the Empire. Evil exists everywhere-"
"Oh shut up," I breathed, not taking that excuse. "You are blind if you don't see what the Empire does."
"Oh I know what the Empire does, better than you," he replied, looking me in the eye. "I never claimed to be a good man. If I'm given a job I finish it. Honour doesn't do anybody good unless they're looking to get killed."
And so I asked "Then why didn't you give me to Vader? I have the highest bounty in the galaxy."
He spoke but did not answer the question, not willing to admit he'd been deceived.
"A young woman who hides her face comes to me asking for passage to Mandalore who can pay me in beskar. I knew damn well there was only one woman in the galaxy who can pay that price," he told me, but if that was true I would have been in Vader's hands. "I was curious to see how long you would keep up the act."
"And now?"
"Now," he said and brought his hand up, his thumb running over my bottom lip. "Now I'm curious about this so-called Mand'alor."
He shook his head as if he hadn't enticed me first, a girl who was barely a woman. Han was the same age when he met Leia but he spent years fighting alongside her, loving her, before he ever touched her. He never used her, he respected her despite their fights, he would have died for her and he would have never betrayed her.
Han loved her unconditionally through those same years I hid my affair with Boba with the understanding that Leia's devotion belonged first and foremost to the Rebellion. He loved her enough he was willing to walk away at the end of the war if it was Luke she'd loved and not him. He loved her selflessly while Boba would at every turn try to convince me to abandon all I loved for someone who could not even say those words to me.
I'm still younger now than he was when we met, old enough to know that no man like him sees a young girl in pain and chooses to do what he did. Even now he can dare to look at me and say "And you would have thrown me out of that palace if I called you one."
I look at him now, body as deformed and horrid as his heart is. "You were the one who started this. You were a grown man who knew exactly what he was doing."
I grabbed his wrist, raising a cautious eyebrow. "You are a bold man Boba Fett."
His eyes traced my silhouette, skimming over the skin bared by the dress I'd worn just for him. "Then what does that make you?"
The corner of my lip turned upwards. "Wouldn't you like to know?"
"I would," he said, backing me up against the table until it pressed into my tailbone. "Because I think you and I aren't that different."
That made me let out a dangerous laugh. "If you believe that you aren't just bold, but blind."
He moved his hand down along the bare skin of my arm, my body reacted as if his touch was electric. "You can claim you're better than me, doing what you do for the greater good, except you're lying. You don't care about the greater good or honour, you do what you do because you want revenge. You kill because you like it. You have a cruel streak in you, princess. Deep down you are just as ruthless as I am."
He nudged my leg open with his knee enough that the slit of my dress opened and revealed the small knife tucked into my garter.
"You can call yourself a Jedi all you want," he told me, hand coming to brush the skin of my thigh until it reached the cold metal of the blade. "But you're a Mandalorian, you can't change that, so stop pretending you aren't."
With that he stepped away from me and I couldn't help the small gasp that left me at the absence of his touch. He didn't say another word as he reached for his helmet, putting it back on before leaving the room, as if he was never there.
"You were the instigator, not me," he argues while I'm the one shaking my head now. "You're the one that gave me a bar of beskar to smuggle you back to Mandalore, you were the one who gave me another to stay and fuck you when I tried to do the right thing and leave."
"Don't-" I warn but he is past listening.
"Call me a traitor but don't accuse me of manipulating you into anything," he says and I'm shocked by the genuine offence in his voice that I could almost call hurt. "Curse me for handing you over to Vader and all the rest, but don't pretend you didn't want it. I asked you if you would regret it before I ever touched you, so don't pretend you didn't know what you were doing."
The beskar on the table along with my offer to make him my commander was not enough to make him stay, but that days war council had proven to me the need for loyalty, even bought loyalty.
But we both knew that wasn't the reason I wanted him to stay. He'd set something inside of me alight and I wanted more. I wanted to feel what the Jedi Order forbade, not just passion, but something deeper.
Which is why I kissed him when he'd asked me why I wanted him to stay, a brief kiss that no doubt showcased how purely inexperienced and unfortunately desperate I was, but it got my point across.
He remained standing still with a self control that left me embarrassed by the lack of my own, that left me doubting if I had somehow misinterpreted his actions before, and suddenly he was hesitant the moment I returned what he began.
Little did I know he liked the chase and this disrupted it.
"How old are you little one?"
For a moment I debated lying but answered honestly. "Nineteen."
His eyebrows shot up and I realised he was indeed hoping for a different answer. "Nineteen?"
"I am not a child," I said quickly. How could I be a child when I had blood on my hands and the weight of a planet on my shoulders? How could I be a child when I'd given the orders not to take any prisoners when retaking territory from the Empire?
And yet I found myself having never even kissed a man until then.
"Oh I wouldn't go that far," he assured me. "I knew you were young but-"
His hesitance was enough I felt stupid for being so forward but countered "That didn't stop you before."
Little did I realise it wasn't my age he cared about, but the fact in a simple kiss I'd shown him I'd never felt a touch like his before. That despite my bloodshed I was an innocent in his eyes. The very thing he didn't want to see me as, but still there was a glimmer of interest at that prospect. A sick enjoyment following the initial hesitation, a newfound fetish for corruption.
"That was before I saw you throw a man twice your size to the ground and realised you aren't just a spoiled princess, before I actually respected you," he said and left me speechless as well as frustrated. "Do you want me to fight for you or fuck you, because business and pleasure are two very different things."
With those simple words I found myself stammering for an answer, my eyes falling to the floor "I-" I knew what I was supposed to say, business and nothing more, but it wouldn't have been the truth. "Both."
He tilted his head, his silence and imposing presence suddenly left me backtracking.
"I shouldn't have-"
But I fell silent as he placed a knuckle beneath my chin and lifted it up to look him in the eye. "I never said no."
He must have felt me swallow for just a hint of a smile played at his lips, one that was no good.
"I am not a good man," he said, fingers toying at the shoulders of my flimsy dress.
"I know," I said, that fact having been horribly clear to me but did little to deter the ache I felt at his touch. "But maybe I like that."
Or maybe I believed there was more to him than that.
"I think you do," he said, watching what the mere trail of his knuckle along my skin did to me. "Do you want me to fuck you princess?"
My body flushed with heat and I opened my mouth to answer but he stopped me with a thumb over my lips.
"Think before you speak."
I swallowed hard before giving a simple answer. "Yes."
He raised a warning eyebrow as his hand came to my waist ."You won't regret this?"
I paused again before answering but the answer was the same. "No."
His other hand moved down from my chin to gently hold my throat and I had to bite back a whimper as he found my pulse point with deadly precision.
"Tell me you want it," he said, leaving no room for misinterpretation, and for the very first time I felt in control to take what I wanted. Even if I was sorely mistaken in believing I held the power in that moment as his hand tightened around my throat. An action that had my heart pounding with fear as the memories of Vader's torture prior to the Death Star's destruction came to mind, but I refused to back down. "Say it."
"I want you."
I look at him now, barely recognising his face but still remembering how it felt when I had him that first time. The pain and pleasure it brought, as well as the tears that came once I was finally alone. His hand wrapped around my throat as he split me open with little mercy, when I cried out telling me that surely the Mand'alor could handle a little pain. A degrading reminder that I ruled Mandalore and yet he had me at his mercy. A metaphor that told me I had no true power unless I took it.
Eventually I did, the second time I had him I ensured that, but in that moment I'd never felt more vulnerable. There was no love, no affection, but any gentleness he showed in taking me was more than I'd ever felt. In time the rest came perhaps, or maybe I fooled myself into believing it was there. I'd never known any different after all.
Not until now.
"You're right," I admit to him for the sake of my pride if nothing else. "I took what I wanted until-"
"Until you ran away," he finishes, choosing to be just as cruel. "From Mandalore, from me, all for your rebellion. You ran like you always do. Like you always will."
"Until you ruined me," I correct, trembling now with the anger I try to restrain, realising that not even my pride can come above the pain. "Until you brought me to this room."
Every fight I ever had in those early days with Bo-Katan comes to mind, every single time she warned me against trusting Boba in the name of protecting me. I'd thought she was trying to control me, even when she actually struck me when she found him in my room one night, telling me that I'd only learn the hard way if I didn't wake up and listen to her.
And she was right.
"You're the pretty little idiot who trusted a bounty hunter, seems you haven't learned your lesson yet," he says looking past me at Din. "And if you keep believing righteousness can save you you're never getting that kid back."
My words to Lando turn into a lie as his head slams back hard into the wall and Lando and Han both try to hold me back from killing him as I find one of the many hidden blades within my armour and grab him by the throat, raising the blade to drive it down into him, only for it to slip from my hand when Boba twists it violently and finally I see it in his eyes, the realisation that this time I could really kill him.
And I will.
He sees the decision in my own eyes and reaches for me as I move for the blade, throwing me back by the waist and slamming me facedown into the ground as I reach for it, only for the idiot to forget I'm a Jedi after all. It flies into my hand as I twist out of his grip and the men rush forward only to jump back as Boba's kicked across the face in his attempt to pin me down. No one, not even Din, dares to interfere as I throw him onto his back and pin him down with my knee, the bone pushing straight down into his lungs I raise the blade only for him to catch my wrist when I drive it down and the tip hovers just over his neck. I'm screaming as I try to overpower him, to finish it.
To finally bring this never ending nightmare to a close.
"Kyra!" Boba barks out as I strain against his iron grip and he says the words I never expected to hear from his mouth. "I'm sorry."
For just a moment I falter but refuse to let his words break my resolve as grief overcomes me.
"Sorry?" I repeat, feeling fear flooding the room and none of it my own. "Do you know what they did to me here?" I whisper, the blade tight in my violently shaking hand as I quake "Do you know!" Even now I can still feel it, my mind being unmade. "They put me in a mind flayer," I tell Boba and watch what little colour is left drain from his face. "And that was just the beginning."
"Lando get Leia here now!" I hear Han yelling as Boba stares up at me and for the very first time I see fear in his eyes as he truly realises what Vader made me, what he twisted me into that final time all because he wouldn't kill me. The ruin my mind became because of his weakness. Then behind that fear there is only pure remorse. "Mando will you grab her already before I do!"
Finally Din moves, forcefully pulling me off him and it's all I need to break free of Boba's iron grip. The blade cuts across his throat as my hand slips, but not deep enough to kill, and I'm fighting as Din hauls me out of that room with a strength he's never used on me before. I'm thrashing as he drags me down the hall until finally I go limp in his arms and he pries the blade from my hand as I collapse, he's all that's holding me up as something in me that's long been broken finally shatters completely.
"I-" I quake as suddenly everything becomes horribly real.
"I know," he tells me and for just a moment I feel him grasped by the same madness as he pulls me to him, the madness of having watched a child be taken. "I know cyar'ika."
He's terrified and I'm crying, the monster inside me Vader created not dead as I'd been led to believe, but merely tamed, now loose.
And yet it does not scare me anywhere near as deeply as the Empire does in this very moment.
Din holds me as Han comes and bends down in front of me, having been the one who'd stopped me from killing Mon Mothma in the same fit of rage after Mandalore. Having always seen just what I tried to hide from Luke, always the big brother I never had, or at least thought I never had.
"Leia's coming," he tells me and promises "We're going to get your kid back, whatever's out there no doubt wants your boy and mine both, we aren't letting that happen."
My throat is tight as I nod, needing to pull myself together for the kid's sake. I made a promise. I can't let my emotions get in the way of saving him. If Dad could save Leia and I from them at their height then I can save the kid from them now.
"Her room's this way, come on," Han says to Din who helps me back to my feet, all but keeping me standing as I'm guided down the hall into a room I haven't visited in over a year but is still intact.
He sits me down on the edge of the bed and the noise inside my head drowns out whatever words the two exchange but it ends in Din nodding his head and Han leaving, closing the door behind himself.
Din sighs as he comes over to me, there are many things he could say right now but instead he just takes me in his arms, holding me tight and cradling my head so gently the touch feels wrong while I have blood on my hands.
"Why did you stop me?" I ask and he slowly pulls away as I ramble in confusion. "You said you'd be by my side as I took whatever vengeance I wanted so why did you stop me?"
"Because vengeance is one thing," he says, his demeanour suddenly changing. "Losing your mind is another."
"What difference does it make what state my mind is in?" I ask defensively and he slowly steps away, that simple action filling me with a fear I've never had before with him. "Din?"
"You need to rest."
His words go utterly ignored as I repeat. "Why did you stop me?"
"Because you weren't going to go through with it and we don't have time for this," he says roughly, unable to even look at me. "If you aren't up for this stay here, I'll go get the kid back."
"Excuse me?" I breathe, taken completely aback. "What the hell's that supposed to mean?"
"Rest," he says before he goes to leave. "We'll talk in the morning."
He opens the door but jumps as I use the force to slam it shut and get to my feet. "No, we won't talk in the morning, we'll talk now."
He shakes his head at me. "We aren't doing this now."
"Do what now?" I repeat, not understanding what's going on, and exclaim "Why are you acting like this?"
The words that leave his mouth next shock me "Do you still love him?"
Never before has silence been so heavy as I look at him, unable to believe the question he's asking, but he's deadly serious as I look at the blood on my hands and back to him.
"I just cut his throat and that's the question you're asking me?"
I expect him to backtrack, to clarify, to do anything but double down. "He told me love and hate are the same for you."
I scoff now, not backing down as I size up to him. "So while I was dying he chose to give some grand speech about what we were?"
His answer is short with no elaboration. "Yes."
I look at him now in utter disbelief. "Are you truly asking me if I still love him?"
His voice is thick with pain. "Do you?"
My moment of hesitation is all it takes for him to walk to the door. "Din!" He only stops when I run forward and grab his wrist to keep him from leaving. "If you think I love him why didn't you just let me kill him?"
"If I didn't stop you the others would have tried, and I was the only one wearing beskar," he answers coldly. "Besides, you were taking too long."
"Taking too long?" I repeat, my composure already long gone. "What part of that show convinced you I'm somehow still in love with him!"
"Because I knew it from the moment I met you on Tatooine," he reveals. "You were there with unfinished business after all."
"I was there to kill him," I slowly remind him.
"And would you have gone through with it?" he asks me, but he already knows the answer, and unfortunately so do I. "I knew then that no matter how much you hated him, you still loved him. I knew it all along, I just refused to believe it."
Tears fill my eyes now as I look at him, the man I love more than I ever loved Boba. "Din-"
"If you love him I won't stand in your way," he says as if he's resigned himself to that before I can even open my mouth. "If you leave I won't hate you for it."
Standing here now only one of us is prepared to leave with grace and my heart is breaking at the realisation I found the selfless love I spent my life searching for, and that I've ruined it.
"What did he tell you?" I demand to know, except I'm nowhere near prepared for his answer.
"Nothing that wasn't true."
My chest tightens knowing every awful accusation Boba could ever hold against me, knowing there is truth in all of them. That I'm a hypocrite, that I ruin the people I love, that all I've ever done is run. That Mandalore was destroyed because of me.
Despite those words, I love Din too much to let my bloody hands stain his own, no matter how much blood they already may be dripping in. My father would be disappointed if he lived to see what his little girl became, and my mother... she would be horrified.
"Alright," I say, challenging him as much as myself. "If you believe whatever he told you then go."
But he doesn't.
"He told me that the first thing you would do was try to kill him, but that you wouldn't go through with it, among other things," he says and I open my mouth but find no counter argument. "But that doesn't mean I'm walking away." He leaves me stunned into silence as he removes his gloves to take my bloody hands in his own. "He told me to run, that no man escapes from you unscathed."
"It's the truth," I state, unable to hide from it now. Not with every man I've ever been with in the same cursed city. "You should run."
He just tilts his helmet down and shakes his head. "When have you ever known me to run?"
I swallow hard, finding his feelings still resolute but only find myself confused. "Then why are you-"
"Because he was wrong about one thing," he continues, looking down at our joined hands, both trembling. "I know you, and since the moment I met you on Tatooine you have been the light of my life. You and Grogu." His voice breaks slightly. "I never knew it was possible to love like this, to want to be more than a clan of two, not until you."
Tears blur my vision as I begin again "Din-"
"But it's not my heart in question," he says and at those words I'm slowly pulling away, not knowing how I can make him see what he refuses to. "Kyra."
"I love you Din, you know that," I say, and he gives a slight tilt of his helmet at my attempted deflections. "Nothing else matters."
"It does matter," he insists, gravel in his voice and for the first time asks for information, not out safety, but for his own assurance. "How long were you with him?"
"Four years," I answer stiffly, having downplayed it in our previous conversations but I can hardly do that now. "On and off from after the destruction of the first Death Star to just before the destruction of the second."
There's silence before he says "You were pregnant with his child?"
I find myself blinking away tears, feeling the tip of Boba's blaster pressing into my stomach the night Jabba gave me to him on Tatooine. The night he confronted me over the supposed crime he selfishly believed I'd committed against him. Knowing if I'd been given a choice in the matter the result would have been the same I let him believe it was my choice to end the pregnancy instead of the nightmare I'd lived. It was the first time I thought he might actually kill me. I wanted him to, but he still couldn't do it.
But for a moment...
I look at Din now, realising this doubt is coming from somewhere. That more was said while I was unconscious than I can begin to theorise, but I have inklings. Although I know only one man would have told him the truth whilst still respecting my name.
"Lando told you what he saw didn't he?" I ask, vaguely remembering Lando having been with Leia when she found me in that cell. Lando tried to mention it once and only once to me after we'd begun sleeping together, he never tried again.
Din gives a single nod. "He told me you kept saying that you didn't know."
I was raised to hold my mother's moderate beliefs in contrast to those held by Mandalorians such as Din and realise neither of us have spoken about such sensitive matters. Neither did Boba and I but it seems he's made his thoughts on it hypocritically clear despite the blood on his hands. Although I suppose the blood of innocents would only begin to matter to him when it's own.
However, I sense only pain from Din rather than judgement. My memories of what happened at the seeing stone and up to now blurred, but the memories of that final night with Boba when I discovered he knew... those are crystal clear. I'd told Din bits and pieces when it was important, but not the worst of them.
"In Boba's grand speech did he ever tell you about that night at Jabba's palace?" I ask him. He gives no answer but there's enough recognition that something must have been mentioned. "Let me guess, I was sadistic nymphomaniac who decided to sleep with him one last time after trying to kill him because I was so sickeningly in love with him?"
He still doesn't speak, I'd almost forgotten how silent he could be, but still I continue.
"Jabba stripped me down and put me in chains before giving me to Boba as a reward." I find myself hesitating, telling him what I could never bring myself to ever willingly recall let alone speak of. I'd told Din Boba let me scream and beat him until I grew weak, but it wasn't the whole truth. "He put a blaster to my stomach and told me I'd robbed him of his chance to be a good man and a father. I was half convinced he was going to kill me, I wanted him to kill me, so I let him believe whatever hurt him the most as he choked me until I could barely breathe, but the coward still couldn't go through with it."
I'd reached for his blaster only for him to grab me, chained and almost naked, and the pure hate in his voice was worse than anything he could do to me as he pinned my wrists to the wall. "You took my chance to be a good man from me, to be a father-"
Tears burned in my eyes and I realised the greatest cruelty I could inflict upon him was to let him believe whatever Vader told him and I stopped fighting then as I looked him in the eye. "And I would do it again."
He held me by the throat and I watched seething as he dragged his blaster along my exposed body, the same blaster he'd used countless times to do such degrading things to me, and I didn't look away as he pressed it into my stomach.
He was deadly silent, finger over the trigger as I searched his cold eyes and felt the things he never learned to hide from a person like me. But something in them drove fear into my heart, the same obsessive hate that had consumed me for so long... it had consumed him as well.
"I know you Boba Fett," I told him, I might have been the only person in the galaxy who did, which is why I knew that even if he couldn't kill me he'd just as easily make me wish for death. "I know you love me."
His hand around my throat was a familiar feeling, a hold of dominance but never of pain. Never until then. Finally his fist closed around my throat but I hardly blinked as he held it tight to the point I strained for air, but not enough to bring me to the brink of unconsciousness. The cold metal of the blaster dug further into my lower stomach but I refused to remove either hand as my airways closed beneath his grip. As I searched his eyes I knew he still couldn't bring himself  to stoop so low to have the woman he loves dead at his own hand, and somehow that made it worse. "Don't be a coward now, you could choke me to death and still would never come close to inflicting the pain Vader did."
"You were my target," he told me, digging the knife deeper with his words since he couldn't bring himself to do it physically. "From the moment you returned to the rebellion. You were my target when I dug you out of the rubble on Mandalore, every night together was all to get the information I was paid to bring to Vader, but you knew that didn't you?" I didn't give him an answer, I couldn't even give myself one as he tapped his blaster against my cheek as finally panic began to take over with every breath I struggled to take. "And you let me do it because you loved me."
I could have used the force to pull the trigger, to end this as I begged him to do half a year before. For my blood to be on his hands, the blood of the woman he loved. I would haunt him for the rest of his life as I knew he would haunt me for the rest of mine. It would have been cruelly poetic, but I was too bitter to die before seeing the end of the empire.
"How?" I finally asked him as I searched his heart and mind, finding such strong love twisted with darkness, finding the same in mine own heart and that darkness was what I could not forgive. The darkness that corrupted me came not from Vader, but from the man I loved. "How could you do this to someone you love?"
"This was never love," he told me, seeing what I couldn't but his heart- he could not hide it from me, not from a Jedi and I reached for his hand around my neck, my mind as sick as his when I believed it to be a loving touch.
"Liar," I breathed, smiling at the hate in his eyes, his lips hovering just above mine. "If it wasn't we would have killed each other a hundred times over by now."
He shook his head, and for the first time I saw remorse in his eyes. "You're insane."
"I'm only what you made me," I'd said, my mind still in pieces from the mindflayer and Vader's torture. Not even the medications that Leia shoved down my throat could even begin to repair the connections in my brain that had been destroyed. "This is what you wanted isn't it?"
He finally released me and stepped away before taking his cloak and wrapping it around my shoulders as he told me "All I ever wanted was to make you strong, to help you lead Mandalore into a new age." His hand was gentle on my face, barely able to comprehend the depth of what had been done to tear my mind apart. "You're a broken woman Kyra. A shell of the Mand'alor who'd liberated Mandalore from the Empire."
"Yes," I said, anger replacing the grief at what had been taken from me. "I am."
I feel Din's hand on my face now, his touch just as gentle, just as concerned, and his voice turns to something dangerous. "You told me he never laid a hand on you."
"He never truly hurt me that way," I still insist, the kinder memories I'd blocked out resurfacing. "He could never bring himself to do it."
"You just said he choked you," Din states, leaving no room for me to try to excuse it as anything else. "You'd said he wasn't that type of man."
My throat's tight as I try to rationalise "He wanted to make me strong, to teach me to fight back. He always thought I was weak, certainly too weak to rule Mandalore, and he was right."
"Kyra," Din immediately begins to argue and I raise a hand to quieten him.
"You never even knew other Mandalorians existed, you can't speak to my competency as a ruler," I mean to state factually, but the bite is there, the unintended insult to him and his creed.
"You're right," he throws back curtly as he removes his hand from my cheek, voice thick with frustration. "It seems all I've done is learn how little I know."
And again I find myself wondering what the hell Boba said to him to leave him like this. Boba is the one person who has seen the absolute worst of me so there is no limit to the truth's he can use against me. But, the worst of me is only a fraction of the worst of him. If I told Din everything Boba had done he would be going to kill him without a second thought. If I asked him to I know he would, and yet the thought pains me.
"Alright then," I say, seeing as we have enough time to air whatever this is out before Leia arrives for us to formulate a plan and decide to spit it all out if Din truly believes what he does. "What do you want to know Din? Because if you think I have any warmth left in my heart for that man how about I tell you how the first time I'd ever kissed a man was mere minutes before he wrapped his hand around my throat and fucked me while telling me the Mand'alor could handle a little pain when I cried out?"
Din's head snaps back towards me and I certainly have his attention, along with a cold, violent, anger that I've rarely felt from him, remnants of the man he was before Grogu.
"But as you heard him say, I wanted it, or at least I thought I did until it ended and realised I was never in control," I continue, knowing he's likely heard some reiteration of me being a heartless sex addict from Boba's recollections. "Or how about I tell you about when I decided to take a battalion of Mandalorians to fight for the Rebellion and my second in command shot him because she thought he was going to kill me for being a 'stupid fucking little girl who would make her mothers mistakes.' Although unfortunately not fatally." Even now I remember Sabine's face when she walked into my office at the wrong moment and saw him grab me by the throat as he spat that along with other insults in my face. "Or how about when Darth Vader even showed disgust for the way his brother's daughter had been treated despite torturing me at that very same moment." That holds the greatest irony in my mind even now. "If I were to tell you everything that had transpired over those years that brought me to the scene you just witnessed we'd be here for days."
"And you still love him?" Din says, not an accusation as before, but now of statement of pure concern and just like that I'm seeing those final days in my relationship with Lando beginning to unfold again when I thought that would never happen with Din.
And so I finally confess the truth I've refused to accept. "Maybe when I met you I still loved him." I force myself to be brutally honest because that is what I owe him. "Maybe I still do."
I could stop there, I could be merciful and let him believe that I love Boba more than I could ever love him. When I walked away from Lando it was the cold hard truth that I loved Boba more than anything we'd built, but that isn't true for Din. He and everything we've built is worth more to me than whatever sick attachment I forged with Boba in those painful years. Din showed me what love is meant to be, what it can be, and I refuse to let that go.
"For each time he betrayed me he's also saved me, even now as much as I hate it, and you're right, I never could bring myself to kill him as much as I want to. I never thought I could ever love anyone like that again, and I won't and I'd never want to," I tell him, feeling the blood sticking to my hands as I take his in mine once again. "Because I never knew I could love anyone how I love you."
Still he refuses to believe it, that he is the one I love truly and I anticipate his words. "Then why act like-"
"Because he brought the Empire to us!" I exclaim in pure exasperation. "For every crime he can be acquitted of he's guilty of a thousand others and I know he had a part in this!"
He sighs deeply and grits out "You aren't thinking clearly in this state of mind."
"And what state of mind would that be?"
He pauses at the challenge in my voice and hesitates before reluctantly answering "You're hysterical."
"Hysterical?" I repeat, having heard my mother been called that a thousand times and snatch my hands away. "Of course I'm hysterical, the kid is gone! I'm surprised you're not hysterical, maybe if you were you'd understand-"
"Understand what?" he argues. "Our child is taken and the first thing you do upon waking up, upon seeing my face, is to go chase him down-"
"I wake up after getting hit by a fucking missile, not knowing where I am or what's happened and I still don't!" I yell, pleading for him to understand. "The kid is gone and he's there, that's all I need for my head to tell me he was responsible so call me hysterical for torturing him to find where they've taken him!"
"We don't have time for this!" he yells, raising his voice more than he ever has towards me and the rawness of his voice quickly reels me back in and he immediately lowers it to a desperate plea. "We need to find him."
"Leia is on her way and when she comes I'll use her resources to locate Gideon," I promise him, trying to put my emotions aside to think clearly, to diffuse this before it escalates further. "She heads the defence council, she has access to intel we don't. I'm close to another General who had a son with a Jedi. Gideon's targeting force sensitive for his experiments, her and Leia both have sons with those abilities and they won't let Gideon live long enough to touch theirs."
That seems to calm him enough and he asks "How long-"
"Twelve hours, she should arrive tomorrow morning," I estimate, knowing Leia will come as soon as possible and that Din works best with parameters. "I have the resources to find him, but in the meantime-" Against my better judgement I reach for his hands again, knowing we cannot find Grogu if we're at each other's throats like this, forcing myself to put aside my own frustration and pain and to try to compose myself. "I know I'm out of my mind right now okay but I love you and I need you to trust me so we can get through this," I whisper but he doesn't say anything, nor does he move away, and I'm too out of it to read him so I just plead "Please Din."
He looks down at our hands, squeezing mine tight and I hear the tears in the shaky breath he takes before saying " "I- I thought you were dead Kyra, I- do you think I wasn't begging you to wake up the entire flight here? Do you think I wasn't scared out of my mind for the first time since I lost my parents?" My throat tightens and I look down with cold tears wetting my cheeks. "I thought my entire world had been destroyed in a second, I- I felt like I was losing my mind with very second that passed when I didn't know if you'd live or die."
"Din," I whisper, aching to take him in my arms but something keeps me frozen in place knowing that I'm the source of his pain. Something I've never wanted to be.
"I know I've been harsh and I'm sorry, I just-" he's quiet for a moment, treating carefully. "The mind flayer," he quakes, having held me through the nightmares that have come of that. "You never told me."
"I spent five years putting my mind back together," I say hoarsely, for a short while having thought I had if such a thing is possible. "It seems I still have some work to do."
"I know you're in pain, and I love you- more than almost anything," he says, his voice as gentle as he can make it with the fear pounding through our chests. "Which means one of us has to keep it together for the sake of the kid and if you aren't up to this I'll find him myself."
"You're right," I quickly agree, forcing myself to bring myself back from that edge, to be better than this. To be more than the mess I was years ago and think strategy. "You're right and I'm sorry and when Leia gets here we will use her contacts to find out where Gideon is."
"Thank you," he says, and we could leave it there, but it feels as if I let go of his hand and watch him walk out that door I'll never be able to salvage this and so while choking on tears I can't fight back I make one final plea to him. "You can believe me or not when I say I love you, but I will not walk away from the child I've sworn to protect. Our child."
"Kyra," he says quietly, voice filled with pain.
"I need you to trust me when I tell you that I'm in love with you," I breathe through the tears. "That I will do whatever it takes to get him back."
"I trust you," he tells me but still it does little to ease his heart. If I was calmer, if I had my composure I'd leave it there for the sake of peace but I can't and so I take his helmet in between my hands. "Cyar'ika"
I don't go to remove it, but I need him to look at me as I tell him in no uncertain words "If you think I love Boba Fett more than you then I will go kill him without hesitation, or if you want to do it yourself you can go ahead and do it. I won't stop you."
"I might be a bounty hunter," he begins. "I might want to tear him apart after the things he'd said and done, but I wouldn't hurt anyone you loved."
I blink through the tears, because it wasn't love, I can see that now.
"And Din Djarin that is why I will always love you more than I ever loved him. Love and hate were always the same to me but not anymore. You taught me it's not." He pulls me in closer now as I bare my heart to him. "I never planned to fall in love with you Din, I tried not to but I couldn't stop it." I bring his forehead down to mine as I tell him "When they- when they put me through that mindflayer it scrambled all the wires in my head to make me believe this could never be possible, but it is. You showed me that and I made a choice not just to love you, but to choose you over fear, over anything else so please believe me when I tell you you are the only person I want, the only person I need, and if you let me I will choose you every day for the rest of our lives."
He gently pulls my hands away from his helmet and I shut my eyes in pain, only to hear it being placed aside and feel his lips on my forehead as he holds me to him. "I believe you." Tears spill down my cheeks and he tells me "Open your eyes cyar'ika."
I do, and this time I look upon him how I should have before and again find tears in his beautiful dark eyes, equal pain and adoration etched across the handsome and worn face of a hardworking man who possesses a rare heart. Wiping a tear from the corner of his eye I hold his face, looking into those brown eyes as I tell him in no uncertain words "I love you Din Djarin and I swear to you that we will take our son back and when we do we will say our vows to him and adopt him, and then we will say our vows to each other."
His emotions are written so clearly across his face, having never learned or had need to control them, and yet I can't help but gasp as his lips meet mine. It's a mixture of pure pain and desperation, of love and the fear of loss. Everything a Jedi should never feel.
But as we slowly remove the beskar from one another nothing else matters to me, not when I'm safe in the hands of the man who has never wronged me, who would sooner cut his hand off before laying it on me or betraying me. The man I trust completely, love completely.
As I search his eyes I know with no doubts that he shares that love just as deeply, and he tells me so as he lays me down and takes me in his arms. Making love as if that could heal our pain, but our fight has only just begun.
And I know as Din captures my lips and grasps my bloody hand in his that he will be by my side as we unleash hell upon Moff Gideon and in whatever may come.

alright gamers usually i would make a proper drawing to go along with this post but i've already drawn a lot lately already so i guess i'm not doing that today. ANYWAY so as you may or may not know i have an nms traveler anomaly oc
Tumblr media
this thing. yes. this thing
their name is iteration: pandora and i literally just wanted an excuse to talk about why i named them that (or why i think the nms player character would be named that) because i have found out as of late that there is very much an nms lore community on tumblr and that fact has been fueling me to nmspost nonstop. also can you tell i don't actually have anyone else who is in-the-know about the lore of this game to infodump to lmao
i'm putting this under a read more. massive nms spoilers follow
SO. let me make one thing clear. i have no goddamned clue whether or not the traveler anomaly counts under the "traveler" race or if they're like a secret, wholly separate fifth thing BUT i think the general consensus seems to be the former so i think i'm going with that?
right. and if the traveler anomaly is a traveler who has stepped foot onto the anomaly (the location), then they must've surely heard of the other iterations who were given names because nada and polo didn't want to call them by numbers
and—isn't the thought of that nice, in a way? the traveler anomaly woke up without a "before" with no memories nor self to call their own, and presumably up to this point they've done less of "exploring" and more of "surviving".
wouldn't it be lovely to have a name one can be addressed by, a string of letters and sounds to anchor oneself to even in the deepest depths of the dark?
ahem. anyway. here's why i picked "pandora" for them specifically
i understand that the named traveler iterations (with the exception of -null-) are named after greek gods, and that the mythological pandora is the name of the first ever human in greek mythology instead (except in accounts that depict epimetheus as the first man instead of prometheus' brother).
however, my idea is that. like. you know how the iterations are all various kinds of nonhuman-looking humanoids, except for the traveler anomaly who simply just looks like a person in a spacesuit?
if the traveler anomaly is the last iteration, then i feel like it makes sense to consider them the closest the atlas has ever gotten to replicating a "real" human (and possibly its own creator) since real astronauts do actually wear spacesuits and helmets, thus also making them—in a way—the first """human""" of the no man's sky universe.
and if the traveler anomaly is a replica of the atlas' creator and possibly the closest one to ever make the cut, then aren't they technically responsible for the simulation, in a way?
pandora opened the jar which contained all of the evils of humanity. the creator of the atlas gave birth to a world that'll soon fold in upon itself within sixteen minutes.
however, what pandora found at the bottom of the jar she opened was hope. as the end of days approaches, the lines between universes and realities blend together to give two people who would've never met each other otherwise the opportunity to explore together until the very fabric of reality all comes crumbling down.
but it was still worth it, isn't it? at the very least, you had someone to call company in those last sixteen minutes.
‎‎ㅤ
anyway i decided to just name my oc "iteration: pandora" because i don't think anyone else is already doing that so

Ummm I’m here to listen to you talk about Ophelia!?! I am so fascinated by her and I’m loving your new chat fic!!!
HI OH MY GOD I WAS AT WORK ALL DAY IM SO EXCITED TO TALK ABOUT HER
putting it under the cut bc it got long woops
Oh my god okay so Ophelia my beloved
I honestly don't remember why I named her, but I do know the fact that the name Ophelia comes from Hamlet inspired her having skulls on her armour (yes shes a medic, she finds the irony funny) theres one on her pauldron, the one that doesnt have the medic symbol and one on each of her knee plates. I have her armour design lingering somewhere in my phone as well as a picrew (wish i could drAW GAAAH)
But uh. Trans clones rights fr
I have a fic Im writing where it opens with her. Bullying Fox. Lovingly. I can't wait to get thwt fic out it's just a slow moving process (its a fic about the GAR stepping up and helping the guard)
But uh, she has a habit of recounting all the supplies in the medbay several times a day. She's hyper aware of where things are in the medbay. If one thing is moved out of place it does,,, Not Sit Well. She struggles with feeling powerless with how restricted and abused the Guard is,,, so theres little things she does to feel a bit in control
She also!!! has kama!!! she's sewn a ton of pockets on the inside to keep things on her person. Somehow she's got a steady supply of candy (lolipops) for the shinies or a trooper having a bad day. Don't ask her where she got them she'll take that secret to the grave
She struggled whenever they lose a trooper IN the medbay, because she feels like she failed to save them. Ophelia knows its not logical, but it doesnt stop her from feeling that way
Also the medbay is Her Space. unless she has to leave for something and entrusts it to her second, she's boss in there. Yes even to you too Fox
She bleaches her hair blonde whenever she can, but due to how hard it is to GET dye and how busy she is, her roots tend to grow out. She also grew out her hair, but keeps it short enough to shove into her helmet. Though, she does rarely leave Guard HQ and rarely interacts with Natborns
She also has a grudge against Fox's command batch. Personally, she feels like they didn't do enough. In general. She sees Fox who's hurting and tired and worn out and lonely. she sees that his batch doesn't show up often. Which means she ends up making assumptions. Whether she's right depends on the story and what direction i take

So....this is from an ask from @galacticgraffiti that has taken me SO LONG to do. I apologise. Have some unbeta'd filth.
Din Djarin X unnamed OFC.
CW for Dom! Din, restraining with cuffs, fingering, light choking, unprotected p in v sex (wrap it up please!), spanking, messy blow job, playing with cum.
Based on the prompt "How does it feel not to get your way?" Word count: 5560
Tumblr media
Restraint
"So...bounty hunter."
The tone was dismissive, mocking, even hostile to Din's ears and if this had been any other situation he would have walked away, but not before issuing the most deadly and serious of threats masked in the most polite of tones.
Instead he answered in a smooth voice, in what he hoped was a voice that exuded confidence and competence. "That is one of my roles, yes."
"I don't like bounty hunters," came the immediate answer. "I don't trust bounty hunters."
All a once, Din's patience was at an end. This interview had already taken up far too much of his time. He had other places to be, and he certainly had no intention of sitting here to be insulted further.
"Then I suppose I'm not the kind of person you're looking for to take this job," he replied as he stood. "Good luck in your search."
He had just about made it to the door when he was recalled. Of course, they hired him. Who was going to pass up the chance of a Mandalorian bodyguard for the week?
*** *** ***
"But I don't NEED a bodyguard! I'm twenty kriffing five! Not a little kid!"
His helmet successfully masked Din's unimpressed look. Twenty five but she acted like a teen with toddler tantrums. Din himself wasn't much older, but the helmet disguised that too. Rich people were weird. This woman was paying for her daughter and her friends to party on Zeltros for a week, going so far as to hire out the top two levels of an extremely exclusive hotel for them, including the penthouse suite. She was a successful businesswoman and indulged her daughter in everything and anything. But from what he could glean from their (shouted) conversation, she had caused an inordinate amount of property damage at the club where her twenty fourth birthday party was held, so Din had been hired as a glorified babysitter this year. Something which the birthday girl was apparently extremely displeased with. Her mother had brought him along at the very last minute, presumably so there would be fewer arguments, though the screaming match they were starting to engage in was drawing more than a few looks from the hotel staff that had gathered to greet them.
"He's staying. Deal with it. If you manage to keep the damage under fifty thousand credits this time, I'll reconsider this arrangement next year." The girl huffed and rolled her eyes, her face a picture of sulkiness. The woman dragged her into a hug, the girl's folded arms knocking against her chest roughly. "Be good," she pleaded. After she released her daughter, she gave him a sour, meaningful look before she departed, the message that she was Din's problem now written clearly across her face. Before she had even gotten into her personal shuttle, the girl had turned back to her friends and began loudly mocking her mother. They traipsed across the private hangar floor toward the elevator to the penthouse, treating Din as if he wasn't even there. That was fine by him. He was there to make sure they didn't kill themselves or each other. That was about as far as his responsibility went. He had been thoroughly briefed on the security arrangements and knew that the hotel had drafted in additional bodies to cater to the woman's orders. There were guards stationed at every stairwell and lift and more at each entrance and exit to street level. The party wasn't going anywhere.
Not that they needed to, mused Din. There was enough booze, food and drugs there to keep anyone happy. Two private chefs, chambermaids, DJs, a very famous Core Drive band, someone to operate the holo-projector for the private cinema and even a sommelier were also on hand to cater to any whim that might arise. Well...almost any whim. He had it on good authority that some of the drugs available focused and enhanced the libido as a secondary effect, and unless the girls were exclusively into each other, he was a little concerned about what would happen if that need arose.
He needn't have worried. The DJs had been specially chosen for their...additional attributes. And the five band members were also more than willing to provide those sorts of services. He himself had been flirted with by one of the birthday girl's friends once, but he had merely stared impassively at her until she stopped touching him and instead began hurling insults about his sexual prowess (or lack thereof). For five days Din really had very little to do, except to break up the occasional brawls between the inebriated women, who would inevitably declare their love for their opponent within five minutes of trying to punch their lights out anyway. It was one of the easier ways he had made money - he was almost surplus to requirements.
The night before they were due to depart - the night of her actual birthday - it began to fall apart pretty early on. A game of truth or dare devolved into someone accusing someone else of stealing a past boyfriend, and that degenerated into an ugly, drawn out argument - a week of drugs and alcohol having honed the atmosphere into something bitter and volatile. Din dutifully separated the squalling women, then the band members distracted some of them, one staggered off to a bedroom with both DJs, and a few of them took various bottles of alcohol and departed for the darkened room that was being used as the cinema. Din heaved a sigh of relief and threw himself into one of the comfortable chairs. He was so wrapped up in thoughts of his reward for completing this frankly irritating assignment that he didn't hear it at first. But the sound of quiet sobbing slowly seeped into his sphere of attention and he stood again, looking for the source.
The birthday girl was sitting behind one of the large corner couches, her knees drawn up to her chest and her arms wrapped around them, her back heaving with her crying. Din stared at her impassively. He shouldn't get involved. Whatever was going on with her really wasn't his problem. All he had to do was to last for another nine hours and then he would get his credits. Then he could go and make money the old fashioned way, the way he felt most comfortable. Hunting, stalking, taking quarry down in a storm of fists and blaster fire. Who cared about some rich brat anyway? He settled back into his seat and began to mentally take apart and polish his armour and weapons. He had been unable to indulge the ritual properly the whole time he had been here. Even though he had been provided with his own room, the partying was near-constant. Someone was always up and causing some sort of ruckus, so he hadn't had much downtime. Besides, he hadn't wanted to take his armour off for too long whilst here. He needed to maintain his image as an imposing, unmovable force in order to maintain some sort of order. It had been easier just to keep everything on.
Thigh guards first. Left and then right. Unbuckle them at the back, bottom and top. Check the fastenings for any weaknesses. Clean the-
The sobbing grew louder behind him. He studiously ignored it and tried again.
Bandolier. Check all ammo and ensure any depleted is replaced. Make sure the padding at the shoulder is intact-
A muffled scream of frustration, clearly buried into her knees and Din sighed in resignation. He stood again and made his way over to where she was huddled.
"What's wrong?" he demanded abruptly, his voice made raspy by the encoder within his helmet. She startled and looked up at him and he suddenly saw how young she looked under her attitude and the once flawless but now streaked make up.
"Nothing," she pouted, the word automatically falling from her lips.
Din hesitated for the briefest of moments before heaving himself down next to her on the floor and resting his back against the couch. "Clearly that's not true. Its your birthday, you should be with them, having fun." He gestured aimlessly toward where some of her friends had exited. Apparently, this was the wrong thing to say because her face scrunched up again and fat tears poured from her eyes as she howled into her arms which were crossed over her knees.
He knew he shouldn't have gotten involved. His patience was already paper thin with this whole situation.
"Look, I'm trying to help you," he said loudly over her crying.
She looked up at him again, a mixture of disgust and disbelief on her tear-streaked face. "How could you help me?" she enquired, her voice so laced with venom he debated walking out of the hotel there and then.
"How can I know that," he retorted, an edge of sarcasm to his words, "if you won't tell me what's wrong in the first place?"
She gaped for a moment, her tears seeming to dry up in the face of the logic of his statement. Then she shook her head, her lips pursing in an exaggerated expression of displeasure. "They are the problem," she confessed, waving in the same vague direction he just had. "Kriffing mudscuffing Huttspawn the lot of them! It's my birthday, and they've done nothing but whine and moan and complain and then Jista had the nerve to steal the drummer of the band. She knew I wanted him and she still went after him and its my birthday and they've abandoned me and they're all so stupid...and...and...I hate them all!" She began to sob into her arms again, but to Din's ears it sounded far more performative this time around.
"Sounds like you got the friends you deserve," Din said, shrugging.
She whirled to face him, immediately furious. "Excuse me?" she hissed.
He shrugged his indifference at her rage. "Maybe if you were a little nicer, you would be hanging out with better people," he reiterated.
"How kriffing dare you," she screamed. Her hand raised and came down, the intention to hit him clear, but Din caught her arm, more to save her from injuring herself on his armour than because he feared her tiny act of violence. "Let go of me!" she squealed. Din held fast, not enough to hurt her, but enough that she couldn't move. She raised the other arm to try to hit him again and he caught that one too. He suddenly realised he was up on his knees and staring down at her while both of her hands were now pinned above her head. The display of dominance was unintentional but it was there, and without any further warning, the mood shifted - the air charged with something far different than it had been mere seconds ago.
"Let me go," she said again, much more softly and without any bite behind the words. Her chest was heaving under the thin silk of her dress, but she hadn't exerted herself that much, he thought. Must be from something else. He allowed himself a small satisfied smile behind the helmet and continued to hold her hands above her head.
"How does it feel not to get your way?" he rasped. The tracks of tears were still visible on her cheeks, but there was defiance and determination in her eyes, a look that grew more intense at his words, and it gave him the beginnings of warm tingles down his spine. "Have you ever been told "No" in your life?" The question was rhetorical, he knew she had not and that this situation was new to her. But apparently not displeasing according to the sensors in his helmet. Her heart rate had increased massively since he had pinned her. He slowly leaned closer to her and her eyes widened as she took in the bulk of his form. "Brat," he whispered next to her ear.
Her exhalation of breath was tinged with excitement. "How dare you?" she demanded again, no force behind that repetition either.
Din settled back on his heels and looked down at her again. "Do you really want me to let you go?" he asked, a lazy smile tinging his words. Her eyes grew even wider, and her mouth fell open a little as she considered the implication of what he was saying.
"What's the alternative?" she queried, and he admired how her voice was unwavering.
"That I teach you how to behave," he replied, not missing the way she shifted and rubbed her thighs together at his words.
She leant toward him, as far as her pinned arms would allow. "And what would that mean?" she asked, her voice now low with a throbbing want.
He made a growling noise through his helmet and quick as a flash had dragged her to a standing position, his height and bulk dwarfing her below him. He continued to hold her wrists above her head, easily trapped her with one gloved hand, while the other trailed softly down her face, her neck, the side of her breast, making her draw in a hitching breath. "It would mean that you are going to be sore," he vowed.
She raked her gaze over him approvingly. "Promises," she breathed, a smile now catching the side of her lips.
"Armour stays on," he murmured.
"Oh, I hope so," she rejoined, and Din smirked as her eyes caught on his semi hard cock now starting to bulge his flight suit.
"Strip," he commanded as he released her wrists, and his arousal grew as she did as she was told immediately, unashamed of her bared breasts, courting his gaze as she stood there. Her own arousal was evident on her underwear, a darkened stain across the silky material. He placed his hands on her hips, spun her roughly and pressed on her back so she was bent over the couch. He curved over her body, mimicking the pose she was in, allowing her to feel the iron girth of him against her backside. "The first lesson," he husked beside her ear, "is about restraint. You have none." One hand trailed down her spine, making her shiver under his touch.
"Y-yes I do," she whispered defiantly.
Din huffed a laugh. "No," he insisted. "You don't. But that's okay. You'll learn." He straightened behind her, his finger now trailing down to hook her underwear to one side. He could see how wet she was from here, the lips of her cunt glistening invitingly with her arousal. He stroked softly down over her, making her whimper a little as he passed over her clit. "I'll make you come," he promised, his voice barely more than a whisper now. "I'll make you come on my fingers and on my cock. But first, you have to be quiet." He ripped the glove from his hand before pushing the tip of one finger inside of her and she gasped out at the intrusion. "I said," Din repeated softly, as he pushed further inside, "Be. Quiet."
She obeyed, only a tiny whine escaping her as he sheathed to the knuckle. "Good," he smiled. "That's good." Without further warning he spanked her, not terribly hard, but enough for her to make a startled noise. Din tutted and slowly moved his finger in and out of her. "For every time you make a noise, I'm going to add another spank," he promised her. "Let's see if you can make it to ten, shall we?" She was breathing heavily, trying to keep quiet, and turned her head slightly to nod at him. "Good girl," he purred and pressed against her walls, knowing he had found what he was looking for when her knees trembled against him. He set a slow pace, pumping his finger in and out, in and out, sliding over that spot inside of her.
Slap.
She betrayed nothing. He struck across her cheek again a little harder.
Slap!
Her cunt clenched slightly around his finger as the blow landed and he ramped it up yet again.
SLAP.
Her hands fisted in the material of the couch cushions. He was nearly at the sweet spot of walking the line between pleasure and pain for her, he could feel her whole body beginning to tense beneath him.
SLAP!
An exhalation of breath from her, but no noise. Her restraint was admirable, her desire to reap the reward of her silence intensely arousing and Din's cock was now fully hard and begging for attention at how completely he had her at his mercy, but he ignored it in favour of spanking her once more, the sensors in his helmet telling him that the imprint of his hand on her skin was beginning to heat with every swat.
SLAP!
Her legs trembled a little under her from the force of him, but she did not make a sound. Instead she turned to look at him as much as she could, her eyes full of mischief and lust and invitation and he lost a little of his own restraint the next time.
SLAP!
She ground back on his finger and the next time he withdrew, he added a second and began to pump a little faster, a little harder. He only heard the soft moan that came from deep inside of her and that she successfully bit back because of his sensors. He upped the ante.
SLAP!
He twisted his fingers within her, angling so that his thumb could swipe her wetness over her clit. Circling, circling, circling until he could feel her tensing around him again, trying to chase down what he was so expertly teasing her with.
SLAP!
As he began to pass his thumb over her clit in earnest, her knees almost gave way and he pressed himself more firmly against her, trapping her between his broad frame and the couch. His thigh guards pressed against her now-sore cheek as he continued to slide his fingers in and out of her body, the cool metal no doubt providing minor relief from the stinging slaps he had bestowed. Couldn't have that, he thought as he moved back slightly.
SLAP!
She nearly cried out. He could feel the noise forcing its way up her body. Instead she turned and bit down hard on the meat of her bicep. He could see how the sweat was beginning to sheen on her skin - on her back and on her forehead as she half turned to him again. He had to admit he was impressed. He never thought this spoilt brat would have any kind of tenacity in this way. Although, he had already witnessed her stubbornness so he shouldn't have been that surprised.
SLAP!
With the last slap, it rocked her, sent her body jolting against the couch and he could see how her back was heaving with the intensity of her breath. He returned to pumping his fingers in and out at that maddening slow pace, and the frustration from her as her orgasm began to recede was almost palpable.
"Good girl," he soothed, stroking over the place he had recently been so forceful with. "You did so well. I'm going to make you come now. And I want you to be as loud as you want." He leaned over her back again to whisper to her. "Show those "friends" of yours the good time you're having here."
He redoubled his efforts, his fingers sliding in and out of her and his thumb stroking over her clit in devastating tight little circles. His other hand crept up her body and around, hefting her tit in his hand, pinching her nipple between thumb and forefinger. She moaned, the vibrations sinking through his breastplate and shooting to his cock which was now decidedly cramped within his trousers, the friction of the material against it absolutely not enough. Din rumbled a grunt and groped her more forcefully. He could feel she was close, her body tensing underneath him again, her breath coming in panting little groans. "Yes...fuck...right there, right there," she whined and he felt her clamp around his fingers, the strong muscles of her core rippling around his fingers, soaking him with her slick.
She had no time to recover before he was spinning her on the spot and lifting her up. Her legs automatically came to cross behind him, caging him to her, her heat and wetness a wicked and undeniable invitation against his crotch. Her face was blissed out, a true smile gracing her lips. She was beautiful when she wasn't pouting and whinging, he thought. He set her down on the huge, expensive dining table which was at a convenient height, and stroked his hands down her body, feeling the softness of her skin underneath the ungloved one.
"The next lesson is about control," he informed her quietly, his voice at a pitch both dangerous and full of heat. "Specifically, relinquishing it." He pulled the cuffs he used for quarries from his belt and held them up where she could see. "Specifically you relinquishing it."
Her eyes darted from the cuffs to his visor to where his erection strained painfully at the seams of his flight suit and back to his visor before she spoke. "What are you going to do?" she asked, curiosity rather than fear evidenced in her tone.
"Me telling you defeats the purpose of the lesson," he chided. "Are you going to be a good girl for me?"
She leaned forward to run her hand down his armour, inching lower toward his cock. "And what's in it for me if I am?" she asked in a sultry tone.
He said nothing, merely jangled the cuffs gently in her direction and jerked his hips away from her touch once she got too close to his crotch. She raised an eyebrow and pouted, clearly judging whether or not he could be as good to her with his cock as he was with his hands. Finally she acquiesced with a tiny smile and held out her wrists. He slapped the cuffs on her and tightened them to a point that was just the wrong side of uncomfortable. Then he spun her on the table so her back was to him.
"Lie down," he commanded. She hesitated for a micro second before obeying, looking up at him upside down with a fiery curiosity, her bound hands resting heavily on her stomach. "I was going to fuck you," Din announced casually. "But since you keep questioning me instead of obeying, you can take me down your throat." Her eyes sparkled at his words, and by the way her tongue came involuntarily to wet her lip, he could tell she wanted it as much as he did.
He unzipped his flight suit, finally released his erection from its confinement and pumped himself lazily a few times inches above her face. "Let's see how good you can make me feel," he challenged.
She rose to it. Stars, her tongue was talented. The faintest of touches against his tip at first, then a slow, warm drag down his underside and back up, sloppy kisses interspersed with her licking. And when she took the head of him inside her mouth and softly sucked at it, he had to bite back the moan trying to force its way up from his chest. He had to be silent, maintain control of this. A task which became much harder when she slowly, slowly inched down his length, taking him all, opening her throat to allow him greater access...She moaned around his cock and squeezed her thighs together for relief as his hands landed upon her tits, stabilising himself to thrust softly into her mouth. She moaned again, a wanton sound, a delicious vibration that ran through him. He thrust a little more insistently and she took it, his cock sliding down her throat as he fucked her mouth. A tingling sensation pooled in his stomach and he released her chest and slowly pulled away. He didn't want to come yet. He really did want to fuck her first.
She lay there, gazing at him upside down with lust in her eyes, drool over her lips and chin that she hadn't yet attempted to wipe away. He indicated that she should sit up with a gesture of his hand and he cradled her face and wiped her down with the leather of his glove, his thumb running softly over her face, catching on her lower lip. He leant closer to her, so close that her breath began to fog the visor of his helmet as he spoke.
"Your third lesson is about obedience," he announced, his voice a quiet husk. "I'm going to fuck you now, and you will only come when I say so. Do you understand me?" She nodded and he allowed his gloved hand to slip lower, over the elegant expanse of her neck. He held her there, not squeezing - not yet - but the whimper that escaped her fed his ego, showed him she felt the coiled strength within him and it excited her. "I need your words for this. Do you understand me?"
"Yes," she rasped, her voice a little choked even though his hand was merely resting on her skin.
"Good," Din smirked, using his other arm to circle around her waist and yank her closer to the edge of the table. He stroked down the crease of her thigh until it met the resistance of her silken underwear where he slowly ripped it from her body, the sound of tearing fabric devastatingly loud in the quiet of the room.
"Hey!" she exclaimed indignantly. "They were worth more than you make in a month, Mando."
He regarded her in silence, tilting his head to the side ever so slightly as he did. He looked until she began to squirm a little uncomfortably under the black T of his visor and then and only then did he grip her neck with a little force. "Manners," he rasped lazily. "Manners, brat. Mind them, or I won't let you come at all."
Though the look she gave him was defiant, she remained silent. He could see that she was still wet, evidence of her arousal on the lips of her cunt and the hair there, and even on the inside of her thighs as she opened her legs wider to welcome him. "Put me inside of you," he ordered and she obeyed, grasping his damp, heavy cock and positioning it. Her fingers didn't quite meet around his girth, he would have to be gentle at first. He pushed inside of her slowly, just until the head of him popped inside. The effect was instantaneous - her head rolled back on her shoulders, eyes closed, bliss written upon her face.
"M-maker," she gasped. Inside his helmet, Din was biting his lip as he tried his best not to loudly and fervently agree. She was squeezing him, the tight clutch of her cunt warm and inviting and it took all of his discipline not to thrust forward and fuck himself violently into her. Slowly, slowly. Make the pleasure stretch. He fed himself into her inch by inch, her bound hands scrabbling uselessly at his breastplate as he did so. He understood - she was trying to find something to ground her, to see her through the dizzying opening steps they were performing. But he wanted her to lie back, so she could be more comfortable and to see her spread below him fully. When he gave the command, she sighed a little before complying, stretching out on the table, her hands now raised above her head. Kriff, she was pretty. Her tits were stretched upward by the placement of her arms and he had an overwhelming desire to suck on her nipples. Shame, really. Instead he focused on where he was spearing her, his hips now flush against her, his cock fully inside. He gave an experimental short thrust, making sure she was comfortable. The sighing moan he received in return told him that she was more than. He gripped her legs, hooked them over his waist and pulled her down further on to him, the tight warmth around him making him see stars behind his visor.
And then he fucked her. Short, sharp thrusts turned into long, punishing strokes and she mewled and whined and cursed and moaned. Given her penchant for dramatics, she wasn't as loud as he had been expecting, but he didn't mind because it was real. He could clearly see the pleasure his cock was delivering written all over her body - in her furrowed brow, her lax mouth, the way her legs caged him in, willing him deeper, deeper.
"Harder," she groaned, and he obliged, grabbing her around her hips and lifting her slightly so he could pound into that sweet spot he had found with his fingers before. Her head tipped back, eyes closed, exhaling breathy moans and one hand found its way to her neck again as the other supported her.
"Nuh uh," Din said, his words coming out clipped from the force of his thrusts. "You don't come until I tell you to remember." He squeezed her throat gently, just to remind her who was in charge. Her eyes snapped open and she looked at him above her, her gaze betraying how close she was.
"That...isn't...helping," she panted out and Din's mouth twitched in the shadow of a smile within his beskar.
"You like it like this?" he asked, punctuating his question by gripping her throat a little tighter for a little longer before relaxing his hold. She nodded fervently, and bit her lip, her eyes watering a little at the sensations he was bestowing upon her. "Hmmm...good to know," he purred, as he fucked into her even harder. He could feel the telltale skittering beginning at the base of his spine, the heat wrapping itself around his pelvis. She was close, he could feel it in the way she was even wetter, the trail of her slick escaping where their bodies met to pool on the table where his bare knuckle was skating through it as he supported her.
Not yet.
His gloved hand released her neck and trailed down to her tits where he pinched her nipple, causing her to squirm in his arms, and utter a curse loudly. He slapped over the hardened bud almost lazily, first one side and then the other and she ground down even further on his cock. He wanted to bite her, mark her flawless skin with his imprint over and over and over, taste the salt tang of her sweat upon his tongue and the thought made him drive into her even harder.
Not yet.
He gripped her thighs bruisingly, pushing her knees back up to her chest and almost folding her in half and there! The reaction he had been looking for. She gave a humming whine and her eyes rolled back into her head as she whispered a mantra over and over. "Yes, stars, yes, right there, don't stop, don't stop..."
His own pleasure glowed, burnt brighter and he allowed the filth to fall from his mouth in words that were half growled. "When I say so, you can come. And then, I'm going to come all over your pretty tits. And then youre going to clean me up with that gorgeous mouth of yours. Do. You. Understand?"
The last three words were punctuated by sharply snapping hips, deep thrusts that had her wailing to the ceiling. "Yes, yes Mando, yes!"
"Come," he commanded and the tenuous thread of her control snapped as she allowed her body to let go, to tense and ripple around his cock, milking him as she sobbed her pleasure to the ceiling. He didn't let up his brutal pace for a moment, pounding deep into her as her increased wetness squelched around his cock, speeding his own end ever nearer...
He withdrew and pumped himself three, four, five times before he was coming too. The first jet landed on her stomach, the next on her tits, and when he raised his eyes to her face and realised her mouth was open to receive him he stretched forward, managing to splash the last of his spend on to her tongue before he was wrung out. She smiled at him, satiated, yet still mischievous and he couldn't tear his eyes from her mouth as he scooped his cum on to his gloved finger and she sucked it off. Again, again, until she was clean of him.
Breathless, they regarded each other, both quite unashamed of their respective states of undress. She pointedly cleared her throat and brought the cuffs in front of her, the request for him to remove them clear.
He huffed a laugh within his visor. "Oh I don't think so. I'm not done taming you yet." He could feel the heated lust at the prospect of having her again begin to cloud his thoughts as he added, "I still think you could stand to be a little more polite, a little less bratty. I'm going to teach you some manners, little girl. And so our next lesson will be concerning punishment."

How To Train Your Dragon Saga
In the beginning, I was never really interested in watching the movie and never even bothered to watch the trailer, since we thought it was one of those cliche failure movies (and Dreamworks hasn't really had a very good track record of good animated movies at the time), but after being bombarded with tons of Toothcup fanfics and fanarts and after very high recommendations by my friend Jello13 from dA, I finally got down to watching the movie. Boy, was I glad I took my friend's recommendation to watch this movie, and the subsequent sequels after that, because after 3, 4 friggin' times, I still fucking LOVE this movie!!!
Here's my findings of the saga:
Tumblr media
Apparently this movie was based on a children's novel written by Cressida Cowell which focuses on the 2nd book in a 10-volume book franchise. There are certain deviations between the real Hiccup and Toothless and the storyline as a whole, but after reading the summary of the original story, I think I like the movie version better. In fact even the writer said so in her blog that she likes the deviation as the movie captured the core essence of her story and it was amazing to see her story to be interpreted this way.
The storyline and the pacing is very good, and the sarcastic humour and slight optimism of Hiccup despite people thinking he's anything BUT a Viking is very intriguing. I love his catchphrases like "I'm way too muscular for their tastes. They wouldn't know what to do with all...this" and "Thank you for summing that up" and his famous line "You just gestured to ALL of me!" is just some of the LOL-worthy lines the talented Jay Baruchel who voices Hiccup does.
I was totally shocked to find out that Gerard Butler plays the role of Stoick, Hiccup's old man! I have never expect him, who is known for his brawniness and action-packed persona, made famous in the movie 300, would actually play a voice-over for a cartoon character. After finding out, spotting his voice and hearing the familiarity was much, much easier.
And of course, the creme de la creme of the entire movie: TOOTHLESS!! He is just so, so, so, soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo uber cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute~~~~!!!!! When I read about him in fanfics and caught glimpses of him through fanarts, I was thinking, "Hey, this dragon is quite cute." Now amplify that feeling by a gajillion times more. That's how I feel about Toothless. He started off a little vicious with his snake-like slit for eyes, trying to act strong and tough like the dragon he was, but the moment he let his guard down a little, he got these pair of big doe eyes that is just so MOE and SQUEE-worthy. And of course I finally learn how he got his namesake: with retractable teeth that he can materialize at will
Tumblr media
My most favourite scene of the entire movie would be this scene where Toothless finally was at peace with Hiccup and allowed him to touch him. The way Toothless tried to copy his drawing, and then growled whenever Hiccup stepped on his drawing, then Hiccup moved to avoid the lines in tune with the music until finally they were so close they were allowed to touch was just so AWW-worthy. And the music score was perfect too, especially the title of that score: Forbidden Friendship. Isn't that just sweet?
The part where Hiccup and Toothless slowly develop that bond while trying to get Toothless back on his flight feet again was also very interesting as they slowly worked together and forget each other's differences to reach a common goal, while at the same time trying to learn about each other, and Hiccup using that knowledge to good use (the eel and the scratching of the neck part was really epic), making him the life of the team, much to his crush, Astrid's chagrin.
I also love the part where Hiccup tries to convince everyone during the final exam of killing a dragon that dragons are not what they think they are, and tried to pacify the Monstrous Nightmare only to be interrupted by Stoick and having Toothless coming to the rescue (damsel in distress much, Hiccup? XD) and revealed their relationship. It felt really sad and my heart just broke when Hiccup shouted Toothless for him not to kill Stoick and Toothless looked at him with his doe eyes, then Hiccup tries in vain to stop everyone from hurting Toothless, and that argument which led to his disowning, and earning back his role as a son by proving his worth and Toothless' reputation, though a cost of his leg. I was wondering where would be the scene where he looses his leg, since I read that he had a prosthetic in fanfics, but turns out it happened in the near end of the movie, and literally mirrored Toothless' missing left tail fin.
Ending is a bit cliche where he gets the girl, he is lauded as a war hero and gained the respect of everyone including his father, the dragons made peace with humans and all that, but still it was a very heartwarming cliche scene. One that leaves a smile on your face and a sigh of contentment in your heart.
Speaking of Astrid, not really sure it's because of that yaoi in me, but I never really saw Astrid as a suitable pairing for Hiccup. I know, I'm not usually one for bestiality, but seriously, can't you just FEEL the love between Hiccup and Toothless to the point where you can consider them as lovers? Toothcup (Toothless/Hiccup) pairings are in the rage right now since the movie has been uber popularize, and you cannot deny that sort of relationship exist, right?
Tumblr media
This one, personally I feel, is almost as par as the first one. Not better, not worse, but more or less par. Hiccup and Astrid are still together, but the Toothcup shipper in me just don't feel like they match somehow. Moreso, suddenly out of the blue, Snotlout and Fishlegs were heads over heels with Ruffnut, which I ABSOLUTELY have NO CHEMISTRY feel whatsoever! Even after I've watched their TV series that led to the second movie, I STILL don't get the vibe or the chemistry between those three people. It's like "Wait, what?" moment.
Although that moment when Ruffnut was just totally thirsty for Eret was absolutely hilarious though. I couldn't help laughing and cringing at the same time.
When the moment Hiccup's mom Valka showed up, I was not expecting her to be so... skinny. Stoick said that he made helmets out of Hiccup's mom's breast plate, and it seemed pretty big, but looking at her, she didn't look like someone who was close to being a big bosom woman, but what is continuity anyways? LOL Though Hiccup definitely has inherited her knack for dragons. Guess it's in the blood after all.
I teared up a little when Stoick died, and I felt so bad that their bromance was threatened by this, but thankfully Hiccup still loves Toothless and is willing to forgive him and try to bring him back to his side. Goes to show how deep their bond is, and Toothless ended up becoming the Alpha Dragon was one of the most epic moments in the whole movie.
It also kinda interesting that Hiccup has somehow became pretty hot in this movie. Was pretty surprised at how he transformed from the awkward tiny little runt of a boy to a strapping man LOL
Tumblr media
Plot feels similar to the 2nd one, but the ending was so so SO bittersweet. A fitting ending, but sweet yet painful for me to watch.
My heart broke at the scene wen Hiccup was complaining about Toothless being in love n said "Am I not enough?" and I was like internally screaming "YES! U ARE ENOUGH!! U TWO ARE ENOUGH!! FUCK THAT LIGHT FURY!!"
Throughout the courtship scene btwn Toothless and the Light Fury i was like internally screaming "NO, SHE'S A TRAP! SHE'S A FUCKING TRAP! HICCUP, WHY ARE YOU OKAY WITH THIS?! I'M NOT HAPPY WITH THIS! I AM NOT OKAY WITH THIS!!"
I cried like a fucking baby, especially at the end of the movie. It was like I knew it was happening, that they were gonna break up, but I was in denial, then when Toothless hugged Hiccup goodbye, I lost it, waterworks all over. In fact, waterworks all the way to the end at their final reunion ugly-cried like a fucking baby.
It did ended perfectly; perfectly bittersweet and perfectly heartbreaking and I was like "This is it. It's official. It's over. My Toothcup ship has fucking sank!!"
Fuck you, DreamWorks, you have killed my bromance!! Gahh!! I hate and love this movie at the same time!
Overall rating:

Pantheons InkWash 2021 - 3rd Week
If you’re unsure about what InkWash is and its rules, go here.
Day 15 - Helmet // Ares and Athena
So yeah, the two greek war deities, made sense for the helmet thing. But otherwise I didn't know what I was doing.
Like, I was lazy do draw Ares' armor, so he's topless, and I didn't really want to do Athena's either, even if it's simpler in desing, so I was like "You know what, that's a bit weird, let's say they were sparring." Which would make sense given their status of war gods. I don't see why they wouldn't spar with eachother from time to time.
But now it doesn't add up with the fact they have their helmets.
I really didn't think things through...
Day 16 - Rose // Persephone
I know Persephone is supposed to be the godess of spring, but what if she really wasn't ?...
Because, according to (at least some interpretations of) the myths, it's Demeter, her mother, who brings back life to the earth each year because she's happy to see her daughter again.
I'm not 100% sure what I'm gonna do with Persephone, but one thing I can tell is she prefers the underworld because... "she can't make things die if everything in there is already dead"...
I'll just leave that here...
Day 17 - Collide// Horus vs Seth
The moment I saw "Collide" in the prompts, I just knew.
I knew I had to draw the battle between Seth and Horus over the throne of Egypt. There are many interpretations on how things went, some weirder than the others, but I think an actual fight is much more appropritate, especially since Seth is already prone to cause chaos.
There is just one thing that will be changed in how I see the outcome of the battle. As you can see, Horus already lost his eye. And if you know the myths, you know what Seth is supposed to lose... Not here.
He'll almost lose something else which is a thousand times more important...
Day 18 - Moon // Thoth
Yes, he may not be known for that specifically, but Thoth is a god of the moon. And were you expecting to see Artemis too ?
Sorry, but I'm playing favorites ! Ha ha !
No, seriously, I think he may be my favorite god of the whole Egyptian Pantheon. In fact I'd be more inclinded to pray to him for my stories to be inspired and well thought out than to any of the greek muses. No shades thrown to them, though, I think my drawings and other artistic experimentations are thanks to them, among other potential deities and spirits.
(Also yes, the moon was edited in, so what ?)
Day 19 - Ring// Aphrodite
Shippeuse, arrête de shipper ! (Good evening, french speaking people, how are you doing ?)
That shipping joke isn't even a joke, do you know how many times Aphrodite tried to have people get together because she thought "Oooh, they'd make a good couple" ? I myself don't know how many, but I know she has done that to varying degrees of success.
And no, it's not the random mortals who are very small, it's her who's very tall. Which makes me think I'll have to see how tall the other gods are compared to mortals... AND to each other...
Day 20 - Plant // Demeter and Renenutet
I don't really have much to say, both are godesses of harvest and...
Actually I think I can see them having extensive conversations about the right conditions to make crops grow ? Would that make them friends ?
Anyway, they're both very pationate about their job.
Day 21 - Fuzzy // Nut
"Aww... There, there... No need to be afraid... As long as I'm here, those other ones won't bother you anymore..."
The creature didn't seem too happy to be saved from its own kin, as heartless as they were to it, but made no complaint of any sort as Nut picked it up.
She pat its head.
"Tee hee hee. You feel strangely fuzzy to the touch... I suppose you really are a Voidling, are you not ?..."
While displeased at first, the tiny Void Being leaned into the godess' hand. Did it find comfort in it ?
"Ah... I can't just leave you here, now, can I ?... But..."
She sighed.
"What will I tell the others... ?"

***
Baast woke to the scent of cooking meat. It made her stomach rumble and mouth salivate but also confused her. There had been no one in her life for many years. There should be no one to cook. Her eyes snapped open, prepared to fight whoever had found her.
Then her eyes fell on Din playing with Grogu, and it all came flooding back. He spoke softly through the modulator, encouraging the boy to float the small silver ball from Din's hand to Grogu's.
When the child succeeded, Din whispered a pleased, "Dank farrik!"
Baast almost purred, watching him with the child. He made an excellent father, and she was of an age to desire a mate, a home, a pride. But a warrior like him deserved someone better than a broken Zentari. It mattered not that her soul cried out whenever he touched her without the barrier of his gloves.
He'd stripped them off yesterday, and she could smell him—the spicy scent of masculine soap blending seamlessly with the musk of a man warm in his beskar. But the underlying scent of Din Djarin was that of the sandy dunes of her homeworld. He smelled of warm winds and dusky plains, of tall grasses whipped by fragrant breezes.
He smelled like home.
The stars were cruel indeed to drop her in the lap of the one made for her.
She watched them for a time as he encouraged Grogu. Their bond was strong, too strong if the Jedi were to be believed. Such attachments bred fear for the one they loved, and fear lent itself to the Darkside.
The idea of Grogu's pure soul becoming tainted made her ache, and though she said she couldn't help them, Baast knew she must. Grogu deserved a chance to grow up on the side of good.
She sat up, drawing Din's notice, the man turning toward her across the fire.
"Morning."
Baast wondered at the voice behind the modulator. Would it be deeper? More robust? Would it be even more pleasing than this one that stroked fingers of violent want through her blood?
"Good morning," she murmured, voice husky still with sleep.
Before she could ask, the canteen he carried on his belt was in his hand. "Drink?"
She nodded, catching it easily when he tossed it to her. "Thank you. I'm not used to morning conversations anymore. Or any conversations in some years."
"You've done well, evading capture until now. Now, the Tribe will help."
"The Tribe," she whispered. "I've been alone for so long." The idea of being part of something was both appealing and terrifying. "I look forward to meeting your Alor."
"She will be glad to meet you. They all will. Everyone will hope-" He cut himself off, busying himself with the lizard cooking over the fire.
"Mando, they should not hope for what I do not think I can give," she sighed, lifting Grogu to her lap when he shuffled over.
"You don't know for sure you can't bond, Baast. Give it time."
Time was all she had. Life was a long thing for a Zentari alone in the universe.
Small green hands gently touched her cheeks, causing her to look down at Grogu. He cooed a sweet noise as she gazed into big, dark eyes. They were expressive in their own right, and she felt herself falling, diving once more into his mind.
The images came fast and furious. Din running, fighting, killing, but almost always alone.
Baast closed her eyes as pain washed through her for the Mandalorian. "I cannot," she whispered to the child. "It would not be fair."
Grogu frowned at her before squealing loudly. More images filled her mind, these of a man reckless with his safety, one who had little to nothing to live for.
She gasped and wrenched her face away from his hands, but it didn't stop the flow of ridiculousness. Kriff! The man had a death wish!
When Grogu disappeared from her lap, only then did he release her from his grasp.
Baast sent the green menace a glare. "That was entirely rude."
He smiled and blew a raspberry.
"I'm sorry," Din murmured, holding the child away like Grogu was a danger.
She held up her hand, continuing to glare. "Do not apologize for something he did. It sets a poor president. Invading my mind is bad manners, little one. Disregarding another's desires is a step down a dark path. This will not be allowed."
"Dark path?" Din asked.
"The Jedi and the Sith. One force believes in peace and passivity. The other wants power and are often corrupted by that passionate desire, both use the Force. He has the potential to be extremely powerful, but with that power comes responsibility. It is a razor's edge to walk, one I am not confident I have the skill to help him navigate."
Din straightened, but his shoulders lowered, relaxing his posture. "You'll help him? I didn't want to bring it up, but I'm running out of options."
"Yes," she sighed. "I know of one who may be able to help him, but I do not know if he will come at my call. Where is your covert?" He said nothing, and Baast tilted her head in apology. "That was an improper question. Forgive me."
"Always," he murmured.
She wondered if that would still be true should he learn what Grogu already suspected. "If I am to make contact, it must be from Tatooine."
"Why Tatooine?"
"Because it is the planet we agreed upon." She turned toward the fire and the spit of roasting meat before looking up at Din. "Have you eaten?"
The movement was subtle, a single negative action.
Baast hummed and reached for the cloth that tied her pants' to her calf and began to unwrap it.
"What are you doing?"
She ignored him and continued until her pant leg fluttered free. The cloth was only a couple inches wide, but it was long and thick enough to make an adequate blindfold.
She lifted it to her eyes, only for his hand to shoot out and grab her wrist. It felt odd for him to touch her with the slightly cracked but soft leather of a glove now that she knew the feel of his skin.
"You don't need to do that."
Baast blinked slowly, gaze drifting to his hand before returning to the visor where his eyes would be. "It is not a need but a want. I will do this, Din Djarin, so that you may eat freely with the child and I. This is the Way."
"It is unnecessary."
She unfolded, rising gracefully to stand before him, wrist yet held in his grasp. "When last did you eat?"
He said nothing.
She tilted her head and held out the cloth. "I have not shared a meal with another in many years. I would share this meal with you and Grogu. Allow me to honour your Creed."
There was no sound, no movement beyond what Grogu contributed to the conversation in small burbles of noise. The Mandalorian was still and silent, a hunter in all things.
Baast waited, quiet, calm. After so many years in a cell, the forest gave her peace, but those years had taught her patience. She could wait for eternity for his decision. She had the time, after all.
What went on behind the helmet, she couldn't know, but eventually, he set Grogu down, released her wrist, and took the blindfold. "Turn around."
She did so, pushing her hair back to uncover her ears. "If possible, try not to cover them. The tips are sensitive, and the fabric will feel abrasive."
The cloth came down over her eyes, hooked behind her ears, and crossed at the back of her head.
"Again," she murmured. "I can still see."
Twice more, the fabric circled before he tied a knot.
Her senses heightened, hearing, smell, and the sixth sense that had been with her all her life. The Force resonated in every living thing, glowing and pulsing, connecting all of them. She could see it like an orange glow, thin lines and thick, veining out around them.
"Good?"
"Yes." The heat of the fire warmed her skin, but before she could move, Din took her hand and elbow.
"Kneel. I'll get you some food."
Baast followed his direction, aware of the bright light that was Grogu coming to her side. He placed his hand on hers, flooding Baast with a gentle apology. She turned her hand over to hold his little claws.
A quiet hiss filled her ears, causing her to turn toward Din. The beskar blocked some of his energy, the Force somehow muted by it. Then he lifted off his helmet.
It took every effort to restrain herself from gasping. He glowed white, the shining brightness of a sun. Shock left her mute as she tracked the supernova that was this Mandalorian as he set down his helmet and removed the spit from the fire. He pulled off a piece of meat, maybe a leg, she couldn't quite tell, and brought it to her.
"Here." The deep baritone was like the softest of silk to her senses.
Baast held out her hands for the meat. His bare fingers grazed her palm as the hot meal hit her flesh, and grease trickled through her fingers.
"Thank you," she managed to force from a throat gone tight with emotion.
"It's hot. Be careful."
She stuffed down the aching need to reach out and feel the lips that produced such a voice and smiled crookedly instead. "Too long have you travelled with only Grogu for company."
He chuckled. "Perhaps."
Another wave of needy desire hit her, but Baast fought it off. She would not doom him to a half-life with an unfinished bond.
She ate and made sure he ate once Grogu was fed, asking questions about the child and how they came to be together simply to keep him talking. His voice was a balm to a soul grown used to silence.
When they finally finished their meal, she waited for him to return his helmet and come to release the blindfold. His hands were deft, skilled, and careful not to pull her hair.
Baast blinked to adjust to the quickly blooming daylight, then retied her pant leg as Din smothered the fire. She reached for Grogu and stood, ready to leave.
"I can carry him."
She tilted her head, already missing the gentle ebb and flow of the Force from him, now encased in all that beskar. "Do you object to me carrying him because you think I am weak or out of principle because he is your foundling?"
"Uh…"
She arched a brow. "Do not underestimate me, Mando. I live because I am jatnese be te jatnese. The best of the best."
"I know what it means," he huffed.
"Then stop being ori'buyce, kih'kovid," she smirked. "I will care for the child as you have cared for me."
"Atin," he muttered.
She didn't protest because, yes, she was stubborn.
"Fine." She could almost hear a pout in his modulated voice as he turned and marched out of their temporary camp. "And I'm not all helmet," he grumbled, likely thinking she couldn't hear him.
Baast smirked and gave Grogu a wink. "Come along, ad'ika. We weak ones best keep up with the big strong Mandalorian," she teased.
"I will leave you behind."
She grinned at his back. "No, you will not."
***
By the time they reached the Razor Crest, he was sweating in his beskar again, but with the luxury of the fresher within sight, Din didn't let it bother him.
He disarmed the ground defences and lowered the hatch, heading inside to get them underway. He wanted off the planet before anyone else thought to come looking for Baast'mal.
Hopefully, the Alor would know who to bribe to falsify a new chain code for her. Either that, or there would be an all-out war to eliminate the threat and bounty on her head. Or, she would spend the rest of her life hunted by the Empire.
He hated that thought. Baast was not a creature who should spend her life hiding. She should be allowed out into the light, a creature of hope and beauty.
Though he hadn't seen the true colour of her eyes, the rest of her was so mesh'la, when he'd removed his helmet, it had momentarily taken his breath. And without the helmet, her scent had filled his nose like something he'd loved and long forgotten. It was warm, soft, and decadent, all things a Mandalorian put off when he put on the beskar.
It was getting harder and harder to keep his hands to himself.
She closed the ramp and followed him to the ladder, climbing up with Grogu to slip into the seat back and to his right.
"Once we've left the atmosphere, you're welcome to the fresher, food, whatever you need," he offered, getting them airborne.
"Do I smell?"
He froze. "That wasn't what-"
Her laugher, that throaty purr, cut him off. "It's fine, Mando. An actual fresher after years of lakes and waterfalls will be pleasant."
"Hm. I have to make a stop on Nevarro, then another before we go to Tatooine. Is there anything you need?"
"Clothing. A cloak. And a weapon."
They cleared the planet, and he made the jump into hyperspace before turning around. "What kind?"
"Short sabres or staff will do."
He watched her pet Grogu's ears, gently using those long claws in such a fashion the kid was almost comatose in bliss. She sat with one foot propped on the seat, comfortably leaning on the armrest. He wondered if her skin would begin to lose its sun-kissed nature now that she was off-world.
"How did you learn to fight?" he asked, forcing himself not to think about her skin and how soft it was.
"Mandalorians are not the only warrior race. Zentari are taught from birth; the rest I learned from the idiots who held me captive. They sought to make me a weapon or a slave, with that came training, but Zentari are not so easily coerced, nor do we forget the slaughter of thousands. I am no weak-minded individual to be controlled by some Sith," she spat.
"Sith?" He knew next to nothing about Force-wielders and felt the lack of knowledge acutely.
"They oppose all things the Jedi stand for, desiring power over peace or balance. They corrupt what they touch.."
"And how does a Zentari hold out against someone so powerful?" He didn't wish to insult her, but surely a child against a master Sith couldn't win.
She sighed and looked away, watching the lights of hyperspace. "Zentari are neither good nor evil. We are Force neutral. The blood bonds distinguish much of our future. To avoid creating bonds with those that would bring harm was why Zentarus was so well hidden. But someone betrayed us. They used to brag about it, the Imps. How one who we trusted gave us up to the Empire."
"If you are Force neutral, why allow Mandalorians to know of Zentarus? Why let us come seeking mates?"
She shot those vibrant eyes back in his direction. "Because the Way was honourable once. Perhaps, at some point, Mandalore was led astray by their leader, but that was not our doing. Those that came to us knew the Way. They humbled themselves before us, and if they were denied, they left knowing such was not their destiny. Those who came knowing not the Way… did not leave Zentarus alive."
"Then I am glad I knew the Way," he murmured, wondering who would have won between the two of them had she not revealed herself.
"As am I," she nodded, looking as regal as the Sand Panther she claimed in her blood.
"Were the Jedi not part of your Way?"
She scowled. "The Jedi saw us as a threat. Naturally born Force users who required little training to do much of what they could, who lived for generations, and who were neither good nor evil. They feared what would happen if we were corrupted. An attempt was made to wipe us out. It failed, and we Zentari veiled Zentarus from those who knew not where to look."
"And that's why you didn't want to help us," he sighed, realizing the untenable position he'd put her in.
She stood, placing the sleeping Grogu down on her seat before taking the step she needed to stand between his spread knees. Her hands lifted to land lightly on the sides of his helmet, gliding over the metal. "It is no longer a want but a need. I will not watch Grogu fall to the side of the Sith because of my fear of the Jedi. He must be trained."
She leaned down and rested her forehead against his helmet as long lashes veiled her eyes. "This is the Way."
Without his permission, Din's hands found her hips and drew her incrementally closer. "I will protect you, Baast."
"We will protect each other."
He hummed his agreement and wondered at the low ripple of sound vibrating through his chest.

The snail's jaw falls so low, it almost detaches itself from the rest of the body.
You scared me... You barely resemble a human... You should cover yourself..."
SNAIL : "You're so ugly, I feel like puking... You barely resemble a human being..."
THE CRIPPLE : "You, lad. You've got your hands and legs. Strong arms. I beg you!"
MAMA ELEPHANT : "Can't you speak? Did someone take away your voice?"
MAMA ELEPHANT : "Your gob looks like that because of this fiendish air, do you know? I bet you can't speak, because you didn't keep your mouth shut when walking through the woods."
MAMA ELEPHANT : "(...) I know you want something, you leper demon."
MUSHROOM GRANNY : "(...) But you're young and strong."
CHICKEN LADY : "Whaddaya need, poor soul? Hungry, eh? I'd give ya some stew, but what good will it do?"
(I think in polish version it was closer to 'how will you eat it' although I can't be sure)
MIRROR : "You are one ugly bastard. I guess you got what you deserved."
MUSICIAN : "This is our doctor, yes? He is just as brave and good as you are!"
MUSICIAN : "You're not af-fraid of anything!"
WOLFMAN : "Even from afar I can smell your putrid stench. Be glad I don't have an appetite for carcasses, Meat"
WOLFMAN : (after the church dream sequence) "Meat, what's with the big eyes? Hehe... Scared?"
WOLFMAN : (when you nod to a question if you're making a joke of him) "You're a brave piece of meat... and what's more important, one with a sense of humor.
WOLFMAN : "Are you pretending to be human, or are you just cracking jokes?"
WOLFMAN : "You look tired, Meat. Busy night?"
WOLFMAN : "Have fun, Meat... Just remember to hide that disaster of a face or it's no dancing for you"
WOLFMAN : (when you spare the sow) "My heart sings with joy when I see such selfless kindness. Tell me the truth, Meat. It was you, wasn't it?"

TRADER
-A man, roughly my size, is standing before me.
I can barely make out his disturbingly familiar features through the matte visor of his helmet...
The massive helmet is covered with an old sack and seems to be an integral part of the unnaturally pale body.
-The man reaches out to me with his black hand. It's covered in charcoal... There's something written on his worn, woolen glove.
-Visibly struggling, the man drops the sack from his back and bends in half, as if out of breath. He shakes the dust off his clothes, then rolls up the sleeve of his, seemingly too small, jacket.
-The old sack covering his body slides down, revealing his chest, covered in horrid growths. It is fused with a porous helmet, pulsating to the rhythm of his breath.

WOLFMAN
THE JOURNAL: "If I'm not delusional, the man whom I met... had the head of a wolf."
FIRST ENCOUNTER: The figure hides its face under the hood. It smells of wet soil and fur.
WOLFMAN: "(...)I barely believe my beautiful eyes... (...) The Wolf smiles, revealing a row of sharp teeth.
AT BARN RUINS: The Wolf makes a quick leap and, bouncing against me with his swollen belly, he puts his paws on my shoulders. He ostentatiously licks his face. (...)
-I notice fresh bloodstains on his fur and feel streaks of his saliva dripping onto my coat.
-The Wolf takes two steps back. I can only see a row of filthy, sharp teeth underneath his hood.
-The Wolf squeezes my arms and starts licking my face. Once from the left side, once from the right side. (...) His breath stinks of rot.
WOLFMAN: "Thanks to you I feel fulfilled! I got my girl, my sweet little lady back."
-Suddenly the Wolf sends me back with a powerful push and reaches into his coat pocket.
WOLFMAN: "(...) and then nothing wil keep you from getting the fuck out of my part of the woods! Do you get me, Meat? You will pack your bags, dive into that stinking hole of yours and dissa-fucking-pear!"
-Finally he snorts, his thick, yellow spit landing on the photo.
-The Wolf grabs the box and starts sniffing it from every angle. I could swear I've heard his tail moving under his coat.
WOLFMAN: "And what am I supposed to do with it? Bite it until it opens? Your brain must be rotting if you think I will break my fangs for this shit."
WOLFMAN: "An electronic game, eh? About a wolf stealing chicken eggs... hehehe. Good one!I've a soft spot for games, how about you?"
-As I produce the key, the Wolf's pupils widen with excitement.
WOLFMAN: (about villagers) "Those selfish, deceitful wretches! They think they're superior, because they have human gobs. They treat us like lepers! But you know what? Fuck them. We're buddies, aren't we? And them? They deserve to be punished, Meat..."
-The Wolf pierces me with his look and grins. A string of saliva lands on his hole-riddled jacket.
-The Wolf puts his paw on me. I can feel his claws puncturing my skin.
WOLFMAN: (about piotrek) "Meat! Fucking hell, seen that? Hahaha! Seen that? Hahaha! Off he flew, didn't he? OFF HE FUCKED!!! Hahahaha!"
WOLFMAN: "If you wish to spend some more quality time basking in the striking, yet natural beauty of my features before you head off to the Silent Forest, you will find me in my camp in the Dry Meadow."

DOCTOR
THE JOURNAL: "What I do know is that the insane fucker took my key. My only chance to get out of the woods. He also tore out all the pages from my journal."
THE JOURNAL: "The doctor has escaped. So be it. He would only be a hindrance anyway."
CHICKEN LADY: "My sisters! Where did ya find it? It's all that godless quack's fault - devil brought him! All he did was prescribe this and that, scribble this no-good drivel! To hell with them papers!"
-I can feel the doctor's cold hand grab me by the jaw, (...)
-He removes his dirty glasses with a trembling hand and freezes.
DOCTOR: "First they begged for help, now I need to hide from them! I'm just an ordinary doctor! How the fuck was I supposed to help them?! How?!"
-With shaking hands, he reaches for the cigarrete butt between his yellow teeth.
DOCTOR: "I used to come here to treat people. I pulled out kids' milk teeth, delivered babies... (...) Last time I came here was three or four years ago. Then the trees blocked the path."
-The Doctor is visibly pleased with himself and his theory. His hands are no longer trembling. He produces a hand-rolled cigarette and lights it.
DOCTOR: "(...) I have no idea where it leads. I'm a shitty diver. (...)"
-The Doctor stares right into my eyes. Mud drips from his face. He hasn't blinked in over a minute.
- (...)His glasses are so dirty, I barely see the eyes hiding underneath.
-A chunk of mud falls down on his exposed tongue. He chews it slowly and swallows with satisfaction.
-The Doctor puts the muddy hand into his mouth, grimaces and pulls out a yellow tooth. He puts it into the pocket of his torn trousers. The tooth falls through a hole. He does not notice this...
-Slowly he bends down and grabs a thick branch from the ground. He starts biting the bark off of it. He swallows the bark with an effort, but also great satisfaction. He places the stick among other ones sticking out of his mud-covered head.
WOLFMAN: "Well, well. I know this quack. A nonentity, a third-rate witch doctor. Useless fucking clunker... But he still managed to screw you over with that key. Eh, comrade?"
MUSICIAN: "This is our doctor, yes? He is just as brave and good as you are! He helped me. He is helping all of us! He gave me this beautiful mask, so I could be healed of my afllictions. Maybe you could have one too..."

MUSICIAN
THE JOURNAL: "I met a boy in the village. He told me that the "Chicken Lady" keeps the "Pretty Lady" locked in her house. The boy really wants to see her, but the old woman won't allow it."
THE JOURNAL: "I decided to give the key to Chicken Lady's room to the little boy. He thanked me and asked me to bring him his mom's violin (it's hidden behind the wardrobe). He's afraid to go himself, as his parents are supposedly angry with him."
THE JOURNAL: "The boy sure was happy to see the new violin. (...)The kid also told me I should visit him in his parent's home someday."
CHICKEN LADY: (after musician's death) "Maybe it's just that me ears are getting worse, but it's been a while since I've heard that monster outside me windows..."
CHICKEN LADY: "Holy Mother, this creep again! May the devil take him and his blasted violin!"
MUSICIAN: "The Pretty Lady? S-she's... the most beautiful lady in the w-world! I w-watch her through the cracks in the window. S-she ch-changes when I watch her... g-gets more beautiful. I p-play for her... I want her to be h-happy..."
MUSICIAN: "I fished out the Pretty Lady's w-wreath from the river! (...)Oh yes, I will become the Pretty L-lady's husband! We w-will walk hand in hand, s-sir. I will play for her, mister s-sir."
-A skinny little hand emerges from beneath the tractor and grabs me by the ankle.
MUSICIAN: "They will not l-listen to me, they w-won't hear how sad I am, sir..."
-One of the strings securing his mask falls off, together with his ear. The boy reattaches it as if nothing happened.
MUSICIAN: "My m-mom has this beautiful violin! I would ask her to b-borrow it to me, but she's too angry with me... Could you p-please c-convince her to b-borrow it to me? I'll g-give you a card with drawings for her. To apologize."
-The boy turns the game in his hand for a while, but he can't find a way to reach the buttons with his overgrown fingers. The game slips out of his hand and drops to the ground. The wannabe musician freezes.
MUSICIAN: "(...) maybe you could take a wee piece of... m-meat for me? I've never eaten a pig and I've h-heard it's very tasty! W-would you take s-some for me?"
-The boy sniffles and rubs the mask with his deformed hand.
-From beneath the mask you can hear a horribly distorted, resounding voice... of a child?
-The figure tries to turn its head, but its enormous neck makes this task impossible to complete.
MUSICIAN: "P-please let me stay. P-please, don't chase me off. I've got nowhere to... go. The villagers don't a-a-allow me to live in the camp. I p-p-promise I won't p-play anymore! I'll be quiet. You can c-cover me with something, if you don't w-want to look at m-me..."
MUSICIAN: (after gifting you a rat) "(...) I mean, she jumped on my hand and s-started nibbling on my f-finger! I quickly clasped my h-hand and b-bit through its neck!"
-The corners of the boy's mouth turn up in a grotesque smile, exposing rows of overgrown teeth, which even his mask couldn't hide.
-The boy clumsily grabs the ball in his hand. He carefully hides it under his legs, so that it doesn't roll away.
MUSICIAN: "S-sorry! I didn't want to! T-this thing is coming out of m-my body. I... I tried to stop it, but I don't think I can... N-now the whole room is covered with... this. I didn't want to make a mess, I s-swear! Please, don't t-throw me a-away!"
-The boy leans over the violin lying next to his overgrown left hand. He plucks one of the strings with his right hand, clumsily trying to keep the rhythm.
MUSICIAN: "Recently, I've grown quite a bit. My mom always used to say that I need to be b-big and s-strong... to help her out in the field..."
The boy tries to hug his frail knees with the disproportionately massive torso.
"But I... I don't want to be big anymore. It's v-very hard being big. You need to be so... so strong! To even walk. Now my v-violin is... too s-small for me!"

Getting Stopped by the Cops and Other Embarrassing Things That Happened in My First Week of Freedom
Hello hello!
It's been one week since I was freed from the two week travelers' quarantine upon arriving in Korea. So much has happened this past week I can barely believe it's only been a single week!
Moving to a new country comes with a lot of stumbling blocks, especially when you don't speak the language. Today's post is framed within some of the more embarrassing (and funny) growing pains I have had this week.
Monday
My first day out of quarantine was on Monday! I would be released at 12pm, so my school director thought it would be prudent to get my health exam the same day in order to get it out of the way. Everyone entering Korea with my visa needs a full health exam to ensure we are not bringing any problematic illnesses (besides COVID) to the country.
So my first day out of quarantine consisted of being poked, prodded, peeing in a cup, drawing blood, getting x-rayed fully naked, and other awful ventures. Many people at the health center didn't speak English, but my school director helped when she could, and everyone was very kind. Still, it felt kind of humiliating for my first post-isolation experience.
Afterwards, she took me to a cafe for lunch, to the grocery store for supplies, and she also gave me a tour of my apartment building. It was a full day, and a little overstimulating to be honest. I went to bed early before my first day of work.
Tumblr media
Tuesday
On Tuesday I started at my new job! I learned all about the school, it's curriculum, and observed a few classes. I have a lot of thoughts about the school, but I'll speak about it in another post.
Wednesday
I taught a full day of classes.
Yep, you heard right. I taught a full day of classes on my second day of work. For the most part it went alright, but it is a STRUGGLE to jump into a class in which you have no context, don't know the students, or even what they have been learning. But I got through it!
Thursday & Friday
For the rest of the week, I taught most of my classes. Typically teachers will observe for a few days, but my director had me jump right in. It was tough, and I think it's going to continue to be that way for a few weeks. It's kind of terrible to be so unsure of yourself at the front of the classroom, as well as having to conduct myself in such a specific way to fit the school's standards. I've been teaching for years but still really doubted myself this week. But I guess I'll learn!
On Friday after work, a co-worker of mine (also a newbie!) and I were bored and decided to explore the neighborhood. Since we get out of work at 9pm, it was too late for anything to be open. Currently, Seoul is at a level 4 lockdown, so all restaurants and bars are closed by 9pm. Gangnam was a ghost town as we walked around, but it was still nice to get out of the apartment.
Tumblr media
Saturday
The same co-worker and I decided to go shopping for new work clothes. I was under the impression my job would be a business casual dress code...but as it turns out they expect us to look extremely professional, and I needed new clothes.
We took the subway to an underground mall and shopped for hours. It was really fun! The mall was underground, and consisted of a ton of clothing stalls. Unfortunately, it was a struggle to find clothes that would actually fit my body. Korea has "free sizes" which are supposed to be one-size-fits-all, but they definitely do not fit all. Most clothes were smaller than an American medium.
I bought a few things, and then we went to a Korean restaurant. It was 8:30pm when we walked in and the restaurant was empty, so we thought it would be a quick, cheap meal before we headed home. The store owner kept asking us to 'hurry up' because of the curfew, so we had to eat fast. But it was yummy at least.
We also may have gotten slightly turned around on our way back home, but we made it back eventually haha.
Tumblr media
Sunday
My co-worker texted me that there is a K-pop event not too far from us and she wants to go. I don't know anything about K-pop but I was down. We decided to take electric scooters.
On every street corner here you can find electric scooters waiting to be rented. With a quick download of an app, you scan the scooter's bar code and can enjoy a ride! It was a really fun and inexpensive way to travel. We went to two cafe giveaways, where you apparently order a particular drink to get some K-pop swag. Ordering was a little bit of a struggle with the language barrier, but we managed it. My co-worker is luckily much more knowledgeable about Korean than I am.
Tumblr media
You might be wondering what I was talking about in my post title, but no it's not clickbait: I really did get pulled over by the cops. On the scooter.
We had also decided to go to a different mall later on, and we took the scooters again. This time, we took a bigger road, and made our way to COEX mall. All of a sudden, a cop car pulls up next to us and asked us to stop. Apparently, it's illegal to ride the scooters 1. on sidewalks (though we had seen others doing this) and 2. without a helmet. They took our drivers' licenses and their eyes bugged when they saw our American cards. We explained we had no idea and we had only just arrived in Korea so they let us go with only a warning. We decided to walk the rest of the way LOL
Unfortunately it was still a bust in terms of clothing sizes at the mall, even at the foreign stores like H&M and Zara. I tried on a 16 in H&M and could not even get the clothes on -- I am usually a 10! And yes, they were supposedly US sizes. I guess it will be only online shopping for me.
Tumblr media
We decided to end the day at a Mexican restaurant, where our language barrier while ordering caused them to only bring us one meal (we had both ordered 2 enchiladas...so they brought us one order of 2 instead of 2 orders of 2). We talked about how embarrassing and rude of us it feels like to stumble so much with Korean, but most people here have been kind to us.
Anyway, it's been a long but fun week. Life here in SK is definitely going to be different, but it's so interesting to experience such new things. Here's hoping the growing pains get easier.

Until next time,
Grace ~

Night blooming
Ok so remember when I said I was gonna write another wlw one shot about my OC and Thais Pedroso? Well I finally finished it. This is a sequel to Only Love. I reccomend you read that one first. It's on my Ao3. Also there are two Buffy references in here. If you catch them you get a cookie.
She was beautiful. Utterly stunning. Like a shining becon of angelic radiance and power. But what honestly made Thais so alluring was her kindness and selflessness. She was the kind if girl who held her heart out before her for everyone to see. You could see it in her smile, hear it in her laugh, you could see it reflected in her paintings.
Janessa was the kind of girl who had thought she had given up on the goodness of humanity a very long time ago. She had seen how cruel people could be first hand during her human life and even now as a vampire. Only now she had power to protect her and a dangerous appetite that was never full.
In theory maybe this was a bad idea. Maybe in theory a lot of Nessie's ideas were bad ideas. But after that kiss in her room. After Thais had slept in her bed and asked Janessa to sing to her. Nessie couldn't lie to herself anymore.
"So where are we exactly?" Thais asked, stepping of Janessa's motorcycle, eager to be done riding it. Janessa hadn't had a helmet available since she never road with one. Thais was shocked when she told her.
"Don't you need one?" She had asked her.
"Nope I'm dead remember? Plus vampires are pretty much indestructible unless-"
"Unless you get them in the heart," Thais had chimed in. She sounded as if she was reciting something taken directly from a textbook.
She probably was.
It was a little unsettling.
They had pulled up to what looked to be an abandoned building. It was dark and worn down, with crumbling broken edges.
"It's a surprise," Janessa answered playfully. Thais rolled her eyes good naturedly. Janessa laughed.
"Come on angel, dont you trust me?"
Thais deliberated this for awhile then finally nodded. "Ok fine, lead me to my death." She held out her hand for Janessa to take.
If Nessie was alive, her heart would probably be racing. She smiled in spite if herself and took Thais's hand.
Thais instantly tensed up. "By the angel you're cold!" She complained. Janessa rolled her eyes fondly.
"I am once again, reminding you that I'm a vampire," she pointed out. "Come on."
She led Thais towards the entrance of the building. Thais seemed to notice something of to the side and gasped excitedly.
"Look!" She pulled Nessie towards what appeared to be a patch of flowers. "Jasmines! They're night blooming!" Thais let go of Janessa's hand to pick one and handed it to her.
"Just like you."
A shadowhunter had just given Janessa a flower. A pretty girl had just given her a flower. Janessa needed oxygen. She didnt need to breathe but somehow she felt like she was suffocating.
Janessa felt really strange. She had been for weeks whenever she was around Thais. There were all kinds of new emotions that she wasn't really prepared to deal with. Nor did she want to.
Janessa shook it off. She reached forward and took the flower from Thais. Nessie felt her shiver slightly when their fingers touched. Thais was smiling at her, her expression was open and warm the same way it always was. Janessa wished she could be the same way.
She wished she knew how.
Janessa made an effort to stop gaping and smiled. "Thanks angel. It's beautiful." Thais shrugged.
"I know your probably not a flowers type of person-" she started, ducking her gaze shyly. Nessie shook her head adamantly.
"No shut up, I like my flower!" She protested jokingly. "And I actually am a flowers person, it's just that no one's ever given me them before." Thais smiled at her shyly, lifting her hand to push Janessa's hair back behind her ear.
"Me neither," she admitted. Nessie found herself instinctively leaning into her touch.
She was warm. Janessa grinned unselfconsciously for a moment before realizing she was showing her fangs. "Sorry!" Janessa exclaimed. But Thais appeared to be unfazed.
She shook her head smiling. Thais's eyes were shining like bright beautiful obsidian stones. Her fingertips felt soft against Nessie's skin. She gulped.
"I didn't even notice," Thais whispered.
Janessa held her gaze for a moment then remembered why they were there in the first place. She shook herself out of her stupor.
"Come on let's go inside." She took Thais's hand again and guided her towards the building. Thais groaned reluctantly, but still followed.
"I swear this is how horror movies start Nessie," she grumbled. Janessa laughed.
"Well if there's anything big and bad lurking in the shadows angel I promise to protect you," she teased.
"Oh please I'll be the one protecting you. I'm the one with combat training."
"Yeah but I'm the one with the scary teeth," Janessa countered playfully. Thais rolled her eyes and allowed Nessie to lead her into the building.
It was crumbled and run down with weeds growing out in every direction, but when they finally made it down to the center wall, Thais gasped.
The entire wall was covered in street art. More specifically street art like looked like it belonged in Brazil. At least according to pictures Janessa had seen.
"Oh by the angel, it's beautiful!" Thais exclaimed. "It looks just like the stuff in São Paulo!" She traced her fingers across the bumpy cement. "I used to paint like this sometimes."
Janessa raised an eyebrow. "You mean spray paint?" She asked skeptically. "I have a hard time picturing a shadowhunter doing graffiti art for some reason." Thais laughed and it made Janessa want to laugh as well.
"Yes I could see why you would think that," Thais admitted, the smile leaving her face. Shadowhunters usually aren't encouraged to pursue the arts. But I love it." Thais turned away from Thais and continued tracing the outline of one of the drawings. Nessie followed her as she walked.
"When I was a kid, everytime I would be super excited and happy and have a ton of energy, I used to run around and destroy the house by drawing all over the walls. At the time the consequences, or the concept of right and wrong, wouldn't faze me," Thais explained. She sounded a little nervous to be telling Janessa this.
Janessa carefully walked up behind her and placed a hand on her shoulder, gently spinning Thais around to face her. "Why not?" She asked.
Thais looked haunted. "Because I didn't realize what I was doing at the time. I didn't know and I don't know why. Sometimes I have these moments where I just get really depressed and heavy for no reason and I dont leave my bed for days and other times it's like I'm on top of the world and I feel like I'm floating on clouds until I run out into traffic and nearly get run over," she murmered. She was avoiding Janessa's gaze.
Thais shook her head as if she was clearing dust from it. "Anyways the point is, spraying and painting has always helped me feel better. More human. One of the things I hate about shadowhunters is there's so much focus on death and violence and war," she said bitterly. "We're trained that our emotions are distractions. To feel is to be weak, and stuff like art, music or dancing, they're made from feelings. I think that's why shadowhinters are persuaded not to pursue them."
Thais sighed, glancing back over to the wall of street art. Janessa stayed silent, allowing Thais time to think.
Thais turned back to look at Janessa her eyes were shining again as she smiled slightly. "But I mean, who wants to live in a world without feelings?" She asked, stepping closer to Janessa.
Nessie was suddenly hyper aware of Thais's proximity to her. Her lips were curved and full and soft looking. She could remember their first kiss quite vividly, the way Thais tasted, the feeling of her warm body pressed against Janessa's.
The smell of Thais's blood overwhelming her.
Nessie reached out and cradled the sides of her face, rubbing her thumb against the edge of Thais's cheekbone. "You're right," she whispered in response to Thais's earlier statement. "There's nothing without feelings." Janessa lowered her head so that their lips were almost touching, paused for a moment to see if Thais would back out, and when she didn't, Nessie kissed her slowly.
Janessa heard Thais's heart sped up the same way it did the first time they kissed. She smiled slightly and deepened the kiss, pushing her tounge against Thais's as she felt Thais grip her arms tighter, pulling against the buckles on Nessie's leather jacket. She continued to kiss her feverishly pushing Thais's hair back. It was incredibly thick and curly, so Janessa couldn't really run in fingers through it very well.
Nessie ran her arms down Thais's shoulders to her waist and Thais made a squeaking type noise and jumped back.
"Cold Nessie!" She cried out. Janessa laughed.
"Aw I'm sorry angel. You're just gonna have to get used to it," she cooed. Thais playfully rolled her eyes.
She was silent for a moment then, studying Janessa carefully with her dark eyes. "You know it's interesting," she mused. "I used to believe that vampires couldn't feel things like love and compassion." Janessa narrowed her eyes.
This was a strange thing to be admitting on their first date but sure, why not?
"But then I heard you sing," Thais continued. "I heard you sing and it was so beautiful. Not just because you're good, because you are very good. But because you sing with so much passion and emotion," Thais exclaimed. "And that's when I knew that I was wrong, and that I care about you."
Janessa couldn't help but grin. "God you are so cute," she giggled.
Thais shrugged. "I'm not that cute. Also another thing happened that night when I saw you perform that I thought you should know about," she said innocently.
Nessie was curious. "What?"
Thais smirked in a way that was very not angel like. "I'll tell you once we get back to the institute." Janessa bit her lip to avoid letting out a moan.
"Well fuck then snap some pictures of the wall and let's get out of here," Nessie exclaimed, rushing towards the exit. Thais laughed and raced after her.
"Its fine. We can always come back," she pointed out. "Maybe this could be our special place."
Janessa felt another overwhelming rush of feeling overtake her. She tried not to let it show.
'Yeah," she answered, feeling light and fluffy and on top of the world, just like Thais had described before.
Just be careful, a voice inside her said. Make sure you don't go running out into traffic.
Keep your guard up Nessie.
Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Just for frame of reference, this is my idea of Janessa.
