》 ...I'm sorry to have left in the middle of our meeting. The strangest song got stuck in my head, you see.
Where I'm going, you cannot see or follow. I'm not sure this will even reach you.
I'm just visiting an old home, I think...

"Wow, that was the most beautiful shit I've ever seen. I have never felt so amazing. 0/10 worst thing ever."
[Image ID: A screenshot of No Man's Sky. The player is inside their ship in space, as a large blue jellyfish is directly in front of them. They're enveloped in a green and purple cloud. The text reads "As the music swallows my ship, I feel free, released from all constraints, all restrictions. An unbounded infinity of possibilities spreads out before me. It is beautiful, blinding. It is terrifying." ./End ID]

October slowly opened their eyes. Their head was spinning, and as they tried to orient themself, thoughts blended in a torrent through their brain. It felt like they were waking up from a particularly vivid dream - thier mind struggled to claw at the memories rushing away from them, so close and so deceptively real.
A mechanical hand was holding them by the collar. It dropped them, and they fell to the ground, retching. The surface they landed on was strangely smooth - it was cold as ice and entirely textureless.
After recovering a little, they struggled to turn around. Zed was stumbling, hanging on to Lucien's frame for dear life as his head spun. Lucien, who offered an arm to support him, seemed strangely unperturbed. Their pale face-lights quietly scanned Zed for injuries.
October moved to rub their forehead, but realised they had their helmet on. That was strange. What was strange? They'd had it on when they'd stepped into the portal. There was no reason why it shouldn't be there.
Something had happened between then and now, but they couldn't for the life of them remember what it was.
"Ugh...where are we?" they groaned, and Lucien's head instantly whipped around to look at them. The intense blue seemed angry but uncertain. October felt a sudden dart of fear, having a vague sense of what they had been like before the portal, but it quickly subsided in the absence of aggression from them.
Zed was beginning to regain his balance, and he managed to growl, the black slit of his visor staring into October's obscured face. "Why don't you tell us?" he hissed; he was baring his teeth under his helmet. "You're the one that dragged us here!"
"Hey," October responded. "You chose to follow. I made it very clear that you didn't have to."
"Yeah, but- arghhh...alright then, genius, why dont you tell us where the hell we followed you to?!"
The three of them fell silent. Zed's words echoed through the expanse they found themselves looking out at. Black featureless sky, and as far as the eye could see were plains of shimmering purple glass. Huge broken shards stuck out at odd angles amongst smaller, deadly sharp ridges, forming no discernible pattern. October looked down, and saw that they were standing on a particularly tall piece, reaching at least three times their height.
"I..." They were at a loss for words.
Zed made a fruitless attempt to figure out where they were, but his Exosuit couldn't find any location signals, and its compass needle was swinging aimlessly, useless. "What in hell..."
"Yes."
Zed jumped - he looked up at Lucien, seeing the landscape reflected in their carapace. They looked back at him questioningly.
"Luce? What did you say? What do you mean 'yes'?"
Surprise and recognition flickered across their face. "Oh!" they said quietly. "It's...this place..."
"This? Is hell?!"
"No- well-"
"Am I dead? Are we dead? Did we die? October did you just kill me-?"
"We're not dead."
"How do you know?" He looked up at them again, and they could feel his panic setting in.
October, who had managed to stand up, folded their arms. "Yeah, Lucien. How do you know anything about this place? Have you been here before or something?"
"No, I haven't been here- but there's- I don't know. Something is telling me..." They looked down at their hands incredulously, as if they hadn't seen them before.
October wasn't sure what to think. They weren't sure whether to entirely believe Lucien. They had no motivation for dishonesty, but then again, their circuits might not quite have been working right after the trip through the portal. They supposed they would just take it as a theory.
"I don't...feel dead." Zed spoke again. "We really aren't?"
Lucien shook their head.
"Then where are we? What do you mean 'hell'..."
"I- the best way I can say it," Lucien mused, " is it's where you go when you're supposed to die, but you don't."
Silence again.
Well, that's just great, isn't it? October thought, gazing out into the world of glass.

SIGN IN: PRIEST-ENTITY TULOSNODONS
-{{ As some of you may have heard, most of the supplies that we had were left behind as we escaped. We cannot fly to Star Sailor in order to gather new supplies as our starships were also left. Due to this, Omn and I have volunteered to go back to the camp. It is the first time we have worked together alone like this for a long time. }}-
For a minute there is only the sound of footsteps.
-{{ Whilst we walk there, I think that now is a good time to inform everyone of what happened. It started with the crystals. The korvax of the ground team felt drawn to them, including myself. They... They felt like home. A home that had been violently torn away from us. }}-
Tulosnodons' voice wavers as they speak, clearly thinking about a painful memory.
-{{ At first we were in awe of their beauty. Hours later, however, everyone noticed something strange. There were more of them compared to when we first landed. Before we could finish deciding on what to do in response to this, the corrupted sentinels came. They attacked us without warning, as the sea of purple crystals around us began to hum. It is possible to outrun sentinels, but they were not the only ones we had to worry about. }}-
The korvax pauses as his cooling fans whirr. It is almost like a synthetic equivalent to taking a deep breath.
-{{ Biological horrors. The largest swarm that any of us have ever seen. Not only did the number of them stand out, but also the fact that they were displaying much more efficient pack hunting behaviour. Escape from them was more challenging and this is where most of the injuries and damages came from. The biological horrors were relentless, simply fleeing was not enough. We had to turn and make a stand. They did not stop pursuing us until we had killed 48 of them... Now you know what happened. I will send out another broadcast once we reach the camp. }}-

I just had a take about the No man's sky lore and how it reminds me of real life racial stuffs between African Americans in the US and white people.
I'm white, so maybe I'm getting this take wrong, please correct me if I say an oopsie.
No man's sky spoilers under the cut!
So, Korvax and Gek.
The first spawn, the war driven, bloodthirsty ancestors of the modern day Gek, had enslaved the Korvax, if I remember correctly.
They sent them to farm for them, work for them, etc etc, and the Korvax couldn't do much.
The Gek lay eggs, kinda like frogs, and have spawning pools, and the Korvax, in retaliation and last hope, proceeded to bleed into the First spawn's spawning pools, mixing their nanites (blood, and also currency. Idk how that works) into the DNA of the first spawn's soon to be hatched children.
It changed these children, in their genetic makeup, from having a thirst for blood, to a thirst for wealth.
So many Korvax had sacrificed themselves to change the lives of their kind, and even so many years later, there's still tension between the gek and the Korvax (because... Y'know, one race literally enslaved the other)
And it makes me think about how us white people went from wanting wealth and power over the people we enslaved, to being ignorant about the transgressions of our ancestors.
And even today, there's still tension between us.
Idk about y'all, but that was my thought process. Please let me know if I got lore wrong or something like that, I'm not used to talking about nms lore or modern day racial issues.
My heritage lies in Germany and Guatemala, not the US, but I still live here and am still white.

You’re trapped in a cycle of pointlessly trying to reset a universe that can’t be fixed from inside it and will end in minutes, but that’s probably lifetimes anyways so like. It’s fine.

-{{ Several minutes of first-person footage of Iteration: Raskol running in a mad panic. Making sense of the sights proves difficult.
The audio- loud, full of static and barely intelligible- seems to only consist of singing, then screaming, razor-sharp and glassy. One of the voices may be the Traveler themself.
A laugh. The feed cuts. }}-

No Man's Sky main story spoilers!
Man, I just replayed the main story again and it never fails to punch me in the gut. Figuring out what 16 really means, saying goodbye to everyone... It's heavy. Nothing will come close to the feeling of playing it for the first time, but even now it gives me emotions.
