if i wanted to start one piece but could not emotionally handle the thought of watching all 1,038 episodes, where could i start?

You could try the manga! it's a faster experience if you don't mind reading

otherwise, if you are a pure anime watcher then one piece is a continuous plot series, jumping into the middle of it isn't really super recommended without starting from the beginning

so if you want to start from episode 1- then good news! you don't have to watch all 1038 episodes! there's a lot of filler in between arcs that you can skip, and a helpful site to use for the second half of the series (if you decide to keep going!)

using the episode wiki is a good way to keep track of which episodes are filler (skippable) and which are canon

the very first filler arc doesnt start until episode 54, and it's about 7 episodes long

in total there's about 84 filler episodes that can be skipped without worrying about missing canon events

if you're still watching by the time dressrosa rolls around, i'd recommend switching to One Pace, made by a group of people who edit episodes to match the manga's pacing because around this point it starts to slow down to a... very noticeable level (switching will save you SO many hours)

I usually only prefer One Pace for when the massive battles break out because i like to watch the extra little scenes of the strawhats goofing off lol, it really just depends on your own preferences! the option is there

Not sure if it's sad or happy, but the basic premise of it is Clora getting frustrated/upset at Sebastian and Sebastian comforting her, Sebastian getting upset at a predicament Clora's in and Clora comforting him, and them both getting frustrated/upset and having to comfort each other.

brainstorming is defs my fav part of the process and the most helpful part to me. just getting a blank document and writing stuff you want to happen without worrying about how it connects to the story, and then a lot of the times as i was doing that id just keep going and it would kinda tie itself together/id come up with a solution as i was writing / once the ideas kept flowing. so basically : TIMELINES AND OUTLINES I VERY MUCH RECOMMEND, but very low pressure and barebones ones. for example, this is what my outlines/brainstorming look like

its honestly just me talking to myself LMAO, and a lot of the time ill interject and be like "OH YEAH AND THEN THIS CAN HAPPEN" as the ideas come while im writing BAHAHA. its a super fun process and honestly nothing feels better than just getting hit with that flash of inspo, and since its all very low effort theres no pressure to actually write well and its just a chill fun time AND GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR OWN PROCESS / WRITING💖💖💖it can be difficult but HOPE U HAVE FUN TOO💖💖

Oh man you guys! I really enjoyed this episode! I loved it way more than The Broken Circle but I did not love it as much as I loved Ad Astra Per Aspera but that episode was so a cut above the average (as in in the running for best episodes of Trek ever written caliber stuff). That it hardly seems fair to say so because this episode was an absolute JOY to watch! Lol! I love a good time travel romp!

I remembered enjoying Paul Wesley’s Kirk in A Quality of Mercy but I wasn’t sure whether I was just riding the high of the previous season or whether he could pull it off twice. But he did and I really really like his interpretation of Jim. I honestly like it a lot better than Chris Pine’s if I’m super honest with y’all.

I mean he UNDERSTOOD the assignment! He was definitely at his Kirkiest when they initially arrived in the 21st century that body language and cadence was on point despite him not looking too much like Shatner. I mean hats off to the writers too for that one. The passion for chess without being overly cocky. The all of it!

There was something about the hot dogs scene and letting La’an have the bed in the hotel that felt very Tarsus IV even tho that might not have happened in this timeline. It’s still very James Kirk of him. Not to mention the whole bit where his type is overachiever, kinda uptight but also dark and mysterious and dare I say a little out of his league folks. Whom he charms without being pushy into warming up to him and letting their guard down. Also THANK YOU to the writers and to Wesley for recognizing Kirk Drift and acknowledging our boy is a hopeless romantic and NOT a babe hound.

I called the La’an/Kirk thing way before it happened because of it. And from what was implied in the Ready Room interview with Paul Wesley it sounds as though we might get more La’an & Jim content in the future which I certainly wouldn’t object to! Although we are skirting the edge of when Jim & Carol Marcus supposedly met so that might get a lil complicated but the seasons (because they’re sorter) might not be 1:1 with years so they’ve got some wiggle room to work with.

I love seeing the cinematic parallels between Kirk & Jim’s love interest stuff in SNW that clearly draws them to each other later on. Chapel is a lot like Kirk and Spock is falling for her pretty hard. La’an is a lot like Spock by the time we meet him in TOS (not too similar to SNW baby Spock though) and they fell for each other pretty badly too! For example, both La’an & Spock are terrified of Kirk’s insane driving skills (or lack thereof lmao)! But enough about Jim & the whole K/S kitten caboodle! This episode is about LA’AN :D

Holy shit did La’an need what’s been happening with her in these past couple episodes. She got to face her generational trauma headlong, she got to see a mirror in Kirk and further realize the value of enjoying the fleeting and precious joys of life. By both convincing this alternate timeline version of Kirk that her version of the world is worth saving (also not the “Sam’s alive?” 😭 because his older brother dies unexpectedly and tragically in both timelines DONT TOUCH MEEEE, also not the potential Kirk bros content going forward also 😭). To eating the damn hot dog, and presumably letting Kirk talk her into taking the bed and just ugggggh.

And then HE DIES! They fridged Captain James T. Kirk of all people for HER character development lmao how’s THAT for a twist. Historically it’s been the other way around how’s that feel for once Jimbo? Damn!

Sera was an interesting villain, she was a good twist honestly felt like something was up with her the minute she had pics of that romukan ship. Also, I love all the self referential like, “yes we acknowledge this changed a little bit” stuff that’s happened. Like the Temporal Wars are why the Eugenics war is supposed to start around *now* and not the 90s like previously stated and Sera has been trapped trying to fulfill her mission for 30 years. Or how clearly Jim thinks everybody calls his brother George and only he gets to call him Sam when clearly that’s not the case lol. It’s nice little touches like that that really make me feel validated for having faith in the writers when nitpickers complain.

Also PELIA! She’s an art thief?! Incredible! Hilarious! Brilliant! No notes! Although it JUST occurred to me that because La’an went to Pelia before the whole “preventing the timeline from changing entirely” bit does THAT mean that La’an can at least talk to Pelia about what happened?! Because it’s implied La’an is who inspired her to become an engineer and that’s still part of our prime timeline! Maybe it’s like a Guinan and Picard situation! I think La’an should get to sob into the arms of our funky little klepto engineer grandma as a treat instead of breaking down alone in her room, please and thank you!

Anyway, baller episode! 9/10

I also love how they dont talk about it. things are very understated and communicated nonverbally - no big drama or confessions. it's appropriate that the emotional journey of wwx as he recovers from his death and contends with his grief and familial estrangement looms larger as a force to be reckoned with than this relationship, which is more a gentle comfort and a long-awaited union. and the more specific and bigger conversation can happen later, but there's some Shit going on so this intimacy in the meantime is nice and feels so right to what's going on

I love this work for giving wwx time and space to grieve...sometimes you do have to sob uncontrollably for a while at the mere sight of a dinner tray. he didn't really get to do that in canon, not that we saw. but he had to have, at some point! he cried so much pre-nightless, it's not like he wasn't a tearful person in general. alas....

And then he's crying doubly hard at the thought of his little brother's face. Not his face now, permanently scowling and bitter and angry, eyes all full of hurt and tiredness, but his face when they were young. Round cheeks and exasperated smile, eyes and nose so much like Jiang Yanli's. He wants, more than anything, to be 15 again for just one day, laughing as he knocks Jiang Cheng into the river with his own body, Jiang Yanli on the dock, desperately trying to hold in a giggle

And with each tangle removed, the child becomes just a little bit warmer, a little bit less scared.

i doubt you have a favorite fish (i mean what kinda crazy guy would! hahah °_ °") but please allow me to tell you how much i LOVE horrorboros. first of all he looks so fucking awesome. very solid design and detail. and he looks like a SNAKE FISH. two of the world's greatest creations in ONE... secondly, the symbolism of horrorboros' original symbol (uroboros as i'm sure you're aware of) is just SUCH an incredible pick for salmon run. first of all, it's just a very good ancient symbol in general (i'm a sucker for cyclical motifs that embody infinity...) and secondly it is very fitting to the salmonid's culture in general! the strong focus on consumption and a salmon's life cycle in general, with the babies using the nutrients from their parent's corpse (it isn't exactly pretty) to survive, both make uroboros an incredible pick to draw inspiration from for a king salmonid. i love horrorboros so very much. what a great snake fish <3

i had stopped playing splat 3 around the time horrorboros was introduced, but the posts i saw abt it were HORRIFYING, especially it's scream! splatoon could traumatize an 8 yr old child...

salmon run has always been very interesting, from the design taking the "octos use scrap for their tech" concept to a WHOOLE another level never ceases to amaze me how much effort the splatoon team put into that mode... especially with the symbolism you mentioned earlier! salmon run has a very unnerving feel to it, i recall it's lore also had something to do with splatoon's religion themes?? although it has a good chance to be another reference, it is very interesting...

erasing/dulling down ben's relationship to the marsten house. that absolutely killed me. something so powerful about the book, to me, was the profound impact the house had on ben even into adulthood, and how that reflects in mark! ben going to 'find himself' is nowhere near as compelling, imo, as the like sheer gravitational pull of the house

no development of ben's relationships. matt should be a heartbreak, susan should be a heartbreak. and lewis is selling it but it sort of feels odd. we don't even get much time to care about anyone. i know time constraints mean you have less time to spend on these things but like that's what makes horror work; you have to care about these people. we needed ben and matt at dell's together, i think. just a little time with them together to show us that there's that kinship

no miranda! i think ben's grief is actually majorly important?? and it makes him a little shy with susan and idk i think it's a very good addition to his character what can i say

at some point they have mark call salem's lot 'salem's' for short which just sounds?? so wrong

i thought it was nice that they gave susan a concrete career aspiration, although i did like that the book kind of confronted her realizing that she didnt necessarily want to stay in town and marry floyd tibbits even though thats what was what was expected of her.

i don't love how they did straker. he served his purpose and there's something successful about like the faux-genteel thing he has going on but i thought the coldness he has in the book is WAY scarier

aster lore is back again!!!!! seeing you mention that aster was created before sumeru and how it's already been a year since their existence made me realize how long sumeru has been out for,, sooner or later we'll be getting fontaine in no time 😵 but back to aster! it always interests me how you have this whole background story of aster which is HELLA cool and stuff and how you keep up with the genshin lore too! i think it's such a nice touch for them to be related with the ragbros too— i can just see their silly little arguments and silly little moments they have together. i'm also sure as hell the moment aster sees the khaenriah eyes (well,, eye... to be specific) in kaeya they'd be like "oh hell no." too SJDJKJS it's just so funny thinking of the many scenarios of their first encounter could play out

oh trust me, i hate cleaning my room. if i ever have a roommate one day, i am praying to the lord that they're the most strictest person on earth so that they can make me move my ass around 😔 i'm just not the person who has the energy to do all that often

don't get me started. the oculis in mondstadt are actual hell. like i'm literally not kidding. how can they call it the nation of freedom when i have no freedom trying to get all those oculis when i was in such a low ar? /j

jokes aside the locations of those oculis in mondstadt were so... brutal. i remember using those oculi compass things and the locations they showed at stormterror's lair were so????? some of them were up at the sky and my low ar ass was so confused on how to get up there,, i also remember there was this one that was hidden in like a pillar and i actually had to get my ass up the highest hill there to fly down into that pillar because somehow they won't let me climb the pillar up... those were truly my darkest times lmfao

i'm guessing we got some rhinedottir lore? well it was only mentioned that she's apart of the hexenzirkel and she called herself a mother to albedo (despite the many things she's done that would say otherwise lmao). but fetus bedo in the cutscene is so cute hsjdjdjjs and it basically implied that his hair wasn't tied like that but instead he was created with that hair style 😭 bros really just magnificent without even trying

i'm so very interested with rhinedottir/albedo/durin/dorian lore like i just know that there's more to what we know currently.... but we probably won't be getting much anytime soon considering how deep rhinedottir's lore is sobs

oh this question is interesting— i pretty much love oceans the most, if anything. the sound of waves and the chilly wind gives me so much comfort for some reason, and somehow the smell of saltwater never bothered me,, despite my dislike towards salt in general LMAO.

other than that, i think this might sound weird . but i kind of like the sound of the hustle and bustle of flea markets too. they can be kind of overwhelming sometimes because of screaming children and whatnot- but for some reason i enjoy listening to people talking with each other whilst buying stuff sjsklk very odd but it's interesting to see what other people are up to. it's so very fascinating to see the human life evolve and for me that's comforting somehow 😵‍💫

hello i am currently supposed to be in french class but my teacher is not here </3 anyway the magic flute!!!!!!

to put i lightly this was Not a traditional production. to put it not lightly it was fuvking insane and i loved every bit of it it was really good and pretty funny

ok yes it was a bit different look. there were two papagenos and latwr two papagenas and it started with like. older papageno waking up and being like. i dont remember shit i slept really bad Oh yeah im papageno the birdcatcher and he starts singimg der vogelfänger bin ich ja but its a bit off. but then Younger Chad Papageno marches onto the stage and sings the rest of the aria and he was actually really good and iconic and later i'll send you a drawing i made of what his costume looked like anyway

then it is revealed that old papageno is the only one who can speak and young papageno can only speak by lip symcing to wjat the older one says into a microphone he pulled out of his pocket. and he does that with all of the characters' speaking parts except papagena and they fight over wjo is the real papageno and he like. says out loud what the other one does in frustration yk like

"no!!! im papageno!!! stomp stomp stomp!! kick kick!!"

and they fight again and then they fall silent and stare in horror as a baby stroller rolls across the stage with wind sound effects yk jsjsjsnshk then a little boy and then a twenager and then the guy playing tamino!! so like it was a recap of his life ig anyway the two of them realize that ans then the old one is like okay we will now accompany tamino on his journey and that is when the actual thing begins!!

so yes old papagwno is like the narrator but he also interacts with young papageno and speaks for him and the other characters but the young one sings yk. so only when they speak but now about tamino

thw three ladies were AMAZING their voices were so beautiful i loved tgem sm. anyway yk how there is the part where the three of them look at tamino and go ah what a charming beautiful young man but not once have i seen a tamino who isnt lowkey mid /j but thats not important yes tamino was actually really good!! so after the ladies leave the papagenos come back and the older one goes like. (the snake fell into the pit) "this evil and venomous snake- could you hand it to me please- was about to eat tamino and already wanted to attack our wonderful orchestra" and then they fought over who killed it (it wasn't either of them) and i'll tell you the rest later because my phone is dying <333 byee

thoughts on Dedf1sh + Paul Sashimori siblings theory/hc? im a personal fan but id love to hear your thoughts :3

Hmmmm rotates it around in my mind... it's something that is definitely plausible and definitely has been done in really good and interesting ways (dedzone especially was what really sold me on it as something that can be really interesting to explore past the basic 'what if these two knew eachother'), it just never really captured me? Until this ask and I started thinking about the shrimplications. I think why it never really captured me until this point is just because of how little we know about Paul? Who is this little guy, past being just a baby savant u know? There's at least a little bit of characterization for most splatbands guys, but Paul is just... oddly devoid of it. Like there's more discussion about the events that surround him (mixing human vocals, sashimori possibly being pearls old band, the fact that he's a 10 year old ultratalented kid, him being friends with marina) than there is about Who He Is as a character? Though I guess that does leave more room for wildly making things up!!! Which. With the info from side order has some really neat shrimplications in its favor:

-Acht and Marina "going way back", and Paul and Marina being friends. This is possibly the coolest thing this has in its favor. The siblings hc makes this sudden random bit of information have a lot more weight to it, like oh yeah my old buddy's little brother. They went missing but at least their little brother is doing ok and being looked after... (rips the walls apart)(though this does imply that both acht and paul were octarian octolings, which is neat, but also doesn't really help the common assumption that all octolings must inherently be octarian, given the only two confirmed non octarian octolings we've seen so far are shiver and warabi. Yoko and the gold bazookas mysterious blue ringed octopus girl... who are you....)(I don't even know if it's a common distinction made by fans I have just been going fuck it we ball like "octarian" is the more wide term for those who were ruled by DJ Octavio (including both tentacle guys and octolings) which makes sense why there are octolings & octopus guys who have been on the surface and in society absolutely fine for seemingly generations when u look a shiver's family, and is a slightly more plausible reason why people are so instantly normal about octolings bc like. They've been here. They just don't know they're octarian. Etc. Does this make any sense??? Maybe. Is it nitpicking??? Absolutely. Is it a huge diversion from the topic at hand?? Absolutely yeah I'll get back on topic)

-If sanitization seemingly had no effect on Acht, and they canonically made it to the surface(hotlantis window sign)... have they seen Paul yet? Have they met? If not... why?

Now for the more HeadCanon Realm of things:

-It's been said that Acht was really... intense and anxious over their music pre-sanitization. The fact that Paul is also very talented has some neat possibilities in exploring how that sort of perfectionism could be shared between them. Like did Paul pick it up because he idolized them? Did they ever hear what he was doing? How did that make them feel, honored or oddly threatened by his skill? This shit is soooooo (spins it around in my mind.) this is the good shit to me. Strained sibling relationships my beloved. This is the good shit that really interests me abt this hc, rather than the inherent tragedy of losing Acht. This is the stuff I think I would want to dig into if I ever wanted to explore this personally. If we take it that they never met back up after Acht reached the surface... boy. Whether on purpose or by circumstance it has a lot of potential to breed some crazy characterization moments. Dies a million times.

Even further into realm of headcanon, specific to my take on dedfish and the shit I've been cooking in relation to her:

-the shrimplications are making me crazy in the brain in relation to what I have already written and have planned around dedfish. Reoccurring awesomegirl delta summers and her strained relationship with her 14-15 year old sibling. Eternally broken unable to enter society lost in the sauce (blood) fringe desert dweller dedfish and her complete loss of her relationship with their now 15 year old brother. You see it. You see it and you explode with me. Parallels. Implications. Etc. There isn't really a way to capitalize on it given the fact that I have kept it so that dedfish was completely transformed by and lost their complete previous personality to the double goopening, and the fact that they're completely isolated, meaning there wouldn't really be a way for them to ever know about or interact w paul without outside interference... but you see it. The cooking. The ideas. The everything.

Um tldr: it's good 👍 don't know if it's something I'll ever fully explore and it's not like a hill I'll absolutely die on but I'm a fan of when people do it and do something really cool w it because it has the potential to be really cool!!

Having a child had never crossed Kaoru’s mind before, but when Joe had teased him about how “you treat Carla better than you would a child!”, the idea kind of stuck with him. And so, he’d spent countless nights awake, wondering to himself if it was something he truly wanted?

He’d pass parks, seeing parents with spewing babies and toddlers throwing tantrums, wondering if he could actually put up with that? But as he passed the shops, he came across a mother and her daughter, who looked around 12. He watched them pass, a grin on the child’s face as she looked into her shopping bag, examining her haul for that day. And so it was settled

He wanted a baby girl he could spoil absolutely rotten

And the search for a child carried on, and this time instead of baby shops and websites, he was browsing the shelves of Claires and other tween clothing stores. It had only occurred to him over a bottle of wine with Joe, as they were discussing if Kaoru was truly ready for something like this. Instead of a crying baby or a messy toddler, he could simply adopt someone a bit older!

It made sense too. For a single parent, an older child seemed much more doable. Of course, he wouldn’t be alone. Joe was always telling him how he’d help out, yknow, if he actually went through with the damn thing.

Not to mention, the older you get, the more difficult it is to get adopted. Babies and young children will get adopted left right and centre, whereas the child he will take home will have been there for a while. Finally, they will have a place to call a home

He spent months trying to get the approval for adoption, and one fateful day he finally got the letter that yes he could go ahead and take one home. He was ecstatic, spending the next few days finding out the location of every orphanage around his area of Japan. He messaged every single one, asking when their next visiting day was

And so it was set: Kaoru would not rest until he had found his perfect little girl

He went through orphanage after orphanage, searching for someone he could call his own. However, none of the children were lighting that paternal flame inside him. It wasn’t their fault of course, they just didn’t click with him, staring at him any time he tried to talk to them. Visit after visit, he’d go to Joe’s, ready to tell him about his recent fail.

It wasn’t until Joe came up to him with a phone number, asking if he’d been to this particular orphanage yet. Apparently they had a few children aged 12 and up, and were available for visit that Saturday. And so there he was, packing a bag and getting ready to travel to the house. This time felt different, somehow. He could feel his palms sweat, as if he could sense he would take one of them home

When he finally made it to the house, he was a nervous wreck. The lady of the house let him in with a smile, telling him the children were in the backyard playing while she bounced a baby on her hip. Cherry winced as the baby gurgled at him, glad he opted for an older child

She led him outside, gesturing at the children who were sprinting around in the vast field, hiding behind trees and bushes. It was clear they were playing a game of hide and seek. He smiled as he scanned over them, but it quickly disappeared when he noticed one little girl sitting on the step, head in her lap while her shoulders gently shook with tears

He walked over to her, bending down with a soft smile. He didn’t know where this sudden calmness came from, but that was his last priority right now. A little gash sat on the girls knee, caked with blood as it trickled down her shin. He frowned, pulling out a tissue to gently wipe it. She jumped, wincing with shock from the fresh wave of pain, and surprise. Kaoru gently wiped at her knee once more before looking up at her to attempt a conversation

“Hello, is your knee alright?” She shook her head frantically, wiping a tear away from her face. A small breathy laugh escaped him as he watched the child stand, gesturing to her leg

“Nope, not at all. I think its broken, if you ask me. All cause of that stupid thing!” She threw her arm out, gesturing to a pink board Kaoru hadn’t noticed before. A skateboard.

That’s when Kaoru realised it: I want this one

Suddenly he felt a new sense of importance, like he had to make a good impression. He walked over to the board, tutting as he looked down at it. “This is what hurt you?” He looked at it with disdain as the little girl nodded her head violently. Kaoru could see how she hurt herself, the thing was massive, especially for someone her age. It looked around the size of a board he would use.

Grinning, he picked up the board. “Well, want to see something cool?” She watched in wonder as kaoru stood on it, pushing off and turning quickly, popping an ollie over a stray toy. The little girl jumped, throwing her arms up as she cheered Kaoru on. He finished with a flourish, coming back to stand beside her. “What did you think?” She was speechless, simply moving her hands, saying scattered “wows” and making various sound effects. Kaoru smiled, certain that he could teach her more.

When he realized visiting time was coming to a close, he proposed the idea to the girl, who’s name he had come to know was Lily: he’d come back next week, and he’d bring his board. He even promised to find her a smaller boar perfect for her to learn on, saying he knew a friend who could make her one. From there he would teach her the basics of skateboarding, even a couple of tricks once she got that down. She was delighted, bouncing up and down and declaring she couldn’t wait, all the energy of someone much younger than her. Kaoru found he couldn’t stop smiling himself either

He made his way back through the house, Lily skipping alongside him. He explained the plan to the Lady, that he would come back next week for another visit. Just as he was about to leave, he turned to the lady to request one final thing from her

“Make sure no one snatches her up from me while I’m gone, yeah?”

Needless to say a bottle of wine was opened at Joe’s that night in celebration of Lily, the potential daughter

And so the weeks turned into months, and Kaoru returned each week with his board and some sweets for her and the other children, teaching her everything she needed to know about skateboarding. After a month or so she could confidently ollie without bailing, and next time he visited she displayed it with delight, watching Kaoru’s face light up with pride.

She had taken a real liking to Kaoru, according to the Lady. She refused to pay any other visitors any notice, declaring they “simply weren’t Kaoru.” This is what finally made him realise that maybe it was time to ask if she’d like to live with him from now on, where she could practice with him every day.

When he asked her, Kaoru could’ve sworn he actually saw stars in her eyes. She simply lit up, throwing herself at Kaoru, tears streaming down her face as she shouted yes, of course she would. she wasn’t the only one crying, Kaoru could barely see from the tears in his own eyes, the lady dabbing at hers with a tissue

Once the paperwork was complete and Lily was his, he felt a weight had been taken off his shoulders. He had packed her a new change of clothes the day he went to collect her, bringing Joe along with him for emotional support. Lily came flying at him the second he got out of his car, wrinkling her nose at Joe

“You never told me you had a boyfriend, Kaoru” she stuck her tongue out at him from over his shoulder while they both tried to convince her that no, they weren’t a couple, before she ran upstairs to get changed. Joe turned to Kaoru, an almost offended look on his face

“Why were you so adamant that we weren’t together??” “I dont need her worrying she’s going home to a Gorrila” “HEY”

Once they all got home, they threw a little party at Joe’s who had closed a little early specially for it. Kaoru didn’t let her out of his sight, making sure she wasn’t uncomfortable with all the new people. Of course, it was only Joe, Shadow, Reki, Langa and Miya, all of whom she would meet eventually, but he still worried in case she got overwhelmed.

She made quick friends with Reki, who was ecstatic from the moment he realised she could skate. The two bonded over it, talking about tricks they’d learned, Reki shouting over at Kaoru because why hadn’t he taught him anything??

Miya was a bit standoffish at first, but when she saw the switch in his hand, the two were instantly bonding over who had better villagers in Animal Crossing, and who had passed more levels in Mario with three stars

As the months went on, Lily really settled into her new life in Okinawa, starting at school in Miyas class. The two were joined at the hip, Miya often coming home to Kaoru’s so they could practice together, or simply study and watch some movies. Reki constantly teased the shit out of the two, talking about how he heard “wedding bells”. This comment earned him a swift whack into the skull from Kaoru, warning him not to tease his little girl

Soon enough Kaoru was making her own skateboard with built-in Carla, who helped her skating improve insanely. As Kaoru said, she was definitely a chip off the old block. Langa and Reki would take her to the skate park with them, helping her land new tricks and would take videos of her to send to Kaoru

Shadow was like a chill uncle to her, bringing her flowers for her room and taking her out to get some clothes and ice cream. Joe was like an uncle too, but a much more untrustworthy one. Would he take her to the park, or would he take her to parts of downtown she definitely shouldn’t have been? Who knows, certainly not Kaoru...

Poor Kaoru can never get a minutes peace. Every second of the day she’s plotting something, waiting for him to let his guard down so she can pounce, scaring the shit out of him. When the others are around its 10x worse, all of them ganging up on him to pull pranks

As well as skateboarding, Kaoru tried to teach her how to do calligraphy. She ended up being awful, blotting the ink and smearing it with her hand. But hey, it was a fun art project that made it onto the fridge

At S, she was watched like a hawk. When Kaoru was competing,the others would be like her bodyguard, making sure no one got within 5 feet of her. She’d watch her dad with wonder, the look of awe never leaving her face since the first day she saw him skate. She can’t wait for the day she can compete, maybe even beating her own dad

The first time Lily called Kaoru “dad” was when he won a race, showing off some amazing skills and winning the insanely close match by a hair. He picked up his board, looking around for Lily. He saw her in the crowd, throwing her arms up and cheering “THATS MY DAD!! LOOK, RIGHT THERE, THATS MY DAD!” When she spotted him, a large grin spread across her face. “Nice job out there dad! You did amazing!! D’you think I can do that one day?”

Everyone was staring at her, she hadn’t even realised she had said anything out of the ordinary. Soon enough Kaoru was lunging at her, picking her up in a hug so she didn’t see the tears quickly forming on his face. With a smile he pulled away, his voice dripping with pride

“Of course you could. You’re my daughter, aren’t you?”
