The No-Skip Albums: tag game!

Thanks @ace-of-hearts-and-spades for the tag this was so cool. And difficult because I have so many no skip albums apparently? Also, yes, every Florence + The Machine and Tove Lo album is included, I just saved some space and made little collages.
rules: share the albums that you can listen to nonstop, those lightning in a bottle-albums that scratch ur brain just right. every single track, an absolute banger. u could not skip one if u tried, no notes, stunning, show-stopping, immaculate, ur no-skip albums.
bonus & optional (but imo, v fun) rules: 1) add a track rec for us to listen to! AND 2) share ur favorite line(s) from that track!..
Everyone is tagged. As a treat.
Track rec time. I didn't put lyrics for every song because I'm very tired✌️ Have fun.
Advanced Basics 💿 USS (Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker)
Song - Built To Break
My life in a cage I wake up shower, bleed, and blaze / And what would I know / If no one ever told me so
There's not much to say / In such an ordinary daze / There's not much to be / I'm such an ordinary me
Pain Killer 💿 Little Big Town
Song: Tumble and Fall
It's a want you, it's a need you, it's a hold on through the pain
It's a get through what you got to, 'cause it can't stay the same
It's a long talk with the lights off, it's the last breath in your lungs
It's the deep end that we jump in, it's the love that we become
It's a reach out, it's a white flag, it's a forfeit of the game
It's a let go of the ego, and the whisper of your name
It's a fight for, not a defend, it's a stay out in the rain
It's the knowin' that you love me more than anything
Mr. Misunderstood 💿 Eric Church
Song: Chattanooga Lucy
With Teeth 💿 Nine Inch Nails
Song: You Know What You Are?
Beauty Behind the Madness 💿 The Weeknd
Song: In the Night
In the night she hears him calling
In the night she's dancing to relieve the pain
She'll never walk away (I don't think you understand)
In the night when she comes crawling
Dollar bills and tears keep falling down her face
She'll never walk away (I don't think you understand)
Florence + The Machine
Album: Lungs Song: Cosmic Love
I took the stars from my eyes and then I made a map
And knew that somehow I could find my way back
Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too
So I stayed in the darkness with you
Album: Ceremonials Song: What The Water Gave Me
And oh, poor Atlas / The world's a beast of a burden / You've been holding on a long time / And all this longing / And the ships are left to rust / That's what the water gave us
Cause she's a cruel mistress
And a bargain must be made
But oh, my love, don't forget me
When I let the water take me
Album: How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful
Song: Various Storms & Saints
Now find a rooftop to sing from / Now find a hallway to dance / You don't need no edge to cling from / Your heart is there, it's in your hands / I know it seems like forever I know it seems like an age / But one day this will be over I swear it's not so far away
Album: High As Hope Song: June
In those heavy days in June / When love became an act of defiance
You were broken-hearted and the world was too / And I was beginning to lose my grip / And I have always held it loosely But this time, I admit / I felt it really start to slip
Album: Dance Fever Song: Mermaids
And the merrmaids, they come once a year
They climb the struts of Brighton Pier
They come to drink, they come to dance
To sacrifice a human heart
Album: Lady Wood Song: True Disaster
And the world is so much wilder than you think
You haven't seen nothing til you've seen an English girl drink
Tove Lo
Album: Queen of the Clouds Song: This Time Around

idk how annoying ass ppl on here can be “All Old Country Is Good And Leftist” and also “All Westerns Are Racist” and also “All Cowboys Ever Were Latino/Black” and also “All People In The Country Are Conservative” simultaneously like this shit doesnt add up
#like to be clear. theres a LOT of nuance needed in discussions about westerns and country music#its an inherently colonial genre its true. but. to generalize is bad and also clearly none of those ppl are there for the nuance#and also i don’t think anyone has actually seen a western. besides maybe a silver dollars one idk#the only point here that has some weight to it is yes. most ‘cowboys’ wouldve been latino#but even thats like. vague af because no one agrees on what a cowboy even is. past or present lol#but also. a lot of white cowboys. you know due to the aforementioned colonialism. like come on guys two and two together here

local cry-baby complains about her sad little life and self-created problems again, pt 325
#i keep seeing ads for summer festivals and feeling sad because of no blind channel in them#sad because i miss them yes but also sad because if there's no BC it means i'm not going to music festivals next summer#as there's no other finnish band or artist that i care enough about to travel around the country for and pay those expensive tickets for#and none of the non-finnish bands or artists that i like ever come to finland#except for alvaro soler who has a gig in tampere#but it's at this festival for middle-aged people lol and i'm not sure i wanna go there alone#yes i can and likely will do it alone if i must. i actually have no problem doing things alone. i have done things like this alone before#but some things are just more fun NOT done alone ya know#and so. if i'm not going to music festivals i'm probably gonna do fuck all next summer#and that's just gonna be sooooo much fun 🙃 the brain absolutely loves that 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃#my local music festival is gonna have max. 3 artists that i'd like to see. all performing on different days of course#and i don't like summer music festivals _that_ much that i'd pay for a 3-day ticket just for one artist per day#in fact summer festivals are pretty terrible lol there are so many people there and so many of them are drunk or otherwise annoying#and again i'd be going alone which only adds to the terribleness of the experience#BC was the only exception for me 😭#i would travel to another city and pay for an expensive ticket and tolerate all the terribleness of summer festivals#because i knew that the 50-60 minutes i'd get to spend with my boys (and my friends) would be worth it#and omg yes i understand how incredibly privileged i am for having been able to do so in the past summers#ultimately this rant is not (just) about blind channel

not to be aggressively southern on main but ppl who think that singing with a twang and saying yeehaw to whatever beat they threw together automatically makes it a country song or even a country fusion………… this is simply not the case
#also making fun of country music is just not it man#like yes absolutely most mainstream stadium country artists are embarrassing bootlickers pandering to the least common denominator#but the genre as a whole has a very rich and diverse history and the way ppl throw it under the bus is the exact way they throw#all southern folks under the bus for the fact that they think we’re all backwards and bigoted#and I’m just. I know I’m not articulating this well but like#country music is an art form as much as any other genre and throwing on a cowboy hat and butchering an accent you’ve never heard irl#is just hollow and comes across so strongly as one big joke where the punchline is ‘some people sing like this unironically!!#and those idiots actually like it!!’#and I’m not even much of a country fan but it’s so clearly malicious towards southern and rural cultures that it’s just#come on. be better than this. be better than them.#personal

Another thing that should have tipped me off that I was trans was I was raised on country music, yeah? I'm not talking the good country between ~1940-1980, by the way, I'm talking the 2000s, but all those country songs that the man was talking about his girl? I always pictured this distant future where I was like this cowboy who got all kinds of ladies.
I don't think my closeted self would dream of myself being where I am now, but I still do hope being a cowboy is at the least in my future...
#trans#transgender#lgbt#lgbtq#ftm#nonbinary#i love reminiscing about my egg-y self. the fool was simultaneously aware AND clueless as all hell and we love to see it#(the song i still remember this clearly was Gimme That Girl)#i stand by my opinion that 2000s country paved the way for me putting undue hate onto the entire genre#now when i imagine being a cowboy it's like. an emo cowboy. i'll have the cowboy hat but we're playing MCR in my huge truck#it's crazy that i survived over ten years of listening to nothing but that type of country music though#if you're wondering: yes i should be asleep but consider i am in a Silly Billy type of mood#wait should i make a playlist of all the songs that made me euphoric as a kid. i want to see what the overarching trend is#(that is if i can even remember them all...)#also if you read this far (congrats btw) put some egg moment of yours that makes you like 'how did i NOT know' if yoh have one of those

What is your favorite singer and/or band?
I don’t think I have a favourite singer. As for bands, my faves are Queen and Breaking Benjamin.
#Ask me anything#Yes I love old bands#Sorry I’m quite indifferent to modern music#To be honest I do like many songs but I just don’t really care whose this song is#I just like it and it doesn’t mean that I automatically like all of their songs#But it doesn’t apply to those two bands I mentioned because they both are fantastic and I have many many favourites by them#As for singers again#…#I don’t think I can even list anyone#I mean I do know some singers I just don’t like their songs ajajdjfk#From my country the only one that really comes to my mind is Sergey Lazarev#I can’t say I’m a big fan of him but some of his songs really slap#НЕТ ЛЮБВИ - ЛИШЬ ОДНА ТОСКА#В СЕРДЦЕ БОЛЬ - ПРАВДА У ВИСКА#СЛЁЗЫ СНОВА В ГЛАЗАХ НА МИГ#И ОСТАЁТСЯ СО МНОООООЙ#МОЙ КРИИИИИИИК#Yes this is the one he performed on Eurovision 2019 :’D#Russian version is better sorry I don’t make the rules#Ah wait I also liked Denis Maydanov#He’s so nostalgic to me#As are many Russian singers/songs from the 2000s/2010s#Ajajdfjfk I’m so old-fashioned I can’t#Who needs modern music when I have ‘Научусь летать’

guys, i remembered another 2000's band that was one of my favorites when i was like in my late teens/early 20's
#me#i'm gonna post a picture or two or something maybe#like i did last time i remembered one(though the last one wasn't exactly a FAVorite band i just liked some of their songs)#if i can find some pictures that aren't like 2 pixels#why are 2000's bands sometimes harder to find anything from than old old bands#there's like 5 pictures in existence#(an exaggeration yes but it's not far from being true)#(but i suppose that's pretty on brand for bands i've always been into. ones i never see anything about ever anywhere(how did i find them))#also they've started making music again so like#yes good#i love looking back at the most random bands from random genres and decades i'll get into for no reason#and i never know why these certain bands just suddenly grab my brain#i feel like a pinball bouncing around#honestly though how did i even#find some of these#when i don't really listen to some of the genres that much#i mean i've heard a lot from some but never was super into them#exCEPT for ONE BAND/ARTIST from one apparently#(usually one that i literally never see anybody else talk about EVER)#i don't know#i mean i like just about all kinds of music casually but i'm talking like. obsession.#where i can't stop listening to a band#i'll go from not knowing anything about a genre besides knowing it exists. toooo hearing a song one day and being like#''this band in particular is now my life for the next several months or more'' and i NEVER KNOW what will be the next one. or why#and i never(or rarely) get into another band like it again(flashbacks to my country fiddle music phase)#except for 70's or 80's rock because that's like my home territory for music#anyway it's fun to look back on once in a while

📚 A List Of Useful Websites When Making An RPG 📚
My timeloop RPG In Stars and Time is done! Which means I can clear all my ISAT gamedev related bookmarks. But I figured I would show them here, in case they can be useful to someone. These range from "useful to write a story/characters/world" to "these are SUPER rpgmaker focused and will help with the terrible math that comes with making a game".
This is what I used to make my RPG game, but it could be useful for writers, game devs of all genres, DMs, artists, what have you. YIPPEE
Writing (Names)
Behind The Name - Why don't you have this bookmarked already. Search for names and their meanings from all over the world!
Medieval Names Archive - Medieval names. Useful. For ME
City and Town Name Generator - Create "fake" names for cities, generated from datasets from any country you desire! I used those for the couple city names in ISAT. I say "fake" in quotes because some of them do end up being actual city names, especially for french generated ones. Don't forget to double check you're not 1. just taking a real city name or 2. using a word that's like, Very Bad, especially if you don't know the country you're taking inspiration from! Don't want to end up with Poopaville, USA
Writing (Words)
Onym - A website full of websites that are full of words. And by that I mean dictionaries, thesauruses, translators, glossaries, ways to mix up words, and way more. HIGHLY recommend checking this website out!!!
Moby Thesaurus - My thesaurus of choice!
Rhyme Zone - Find words that rhyme with others. Perfect for poets, lyricists, punmasters.
In Different Languages - Search for a word, have it translated in MANY different languages in one page.
ASSETS
In general, I will say: just look up what you want on itch.io. There are SO MANY assets for you to buy on itch.io. You want a font? You want a background? You want a sound effect? You want a plugin? A pixel base? An attack animation? A cool UI?!?!?! JUST GO ON ITCH.IO!!!!!!
Visual Assets (General)
Creative Market - Shop for all kinds of assets, from fonts to mockups to templates to brushes to WHATEVER YOU WANT
Velvetyne - Cool and weird fonts
Chevy Ray's Pixel Fonts - They're good fonts.
Contrast Checker - Stop making your text white when your background is lime green no one can read that shit babe!!!!!!
Visual Assets (Game Focused)
Interface In Game - Screenshots of UI (User Interfaces) from SO MANY GAMES. Shows you everything and you can just look at what every single menu in a game looks like. You can also sort them by game genre! GREAT reference!
Game UI Database - Same as above!
Sound Assets
Zapsplat, Freesound - There are many sound effect websites out there but those are the ones I saved. Royalty free!
Shapeforms - Paid packs for music and sounds and stuff.
Other
CloudConvert - Convert files into other files. MAKE THAT .AVI A .MOV
EZGifs - Make those gifs bigger. Smaller. Optimize them. Take a video and make it a gif. The Sky Is The Limit
Marketing
Press Kitty - Did not end up needing this- this will help with creating a press kit! Useful for ANY indie dev. Yes, even if you're making a tiny game, you should have a press kit. You never know!!!
presskit() - Same as above, but a different one.
Itch.io Page Image Guide and Templates - Make your project pages on itch.io look nice.
MOOMANiBE's IGF post - If you're making indie games, you might wanna try and submit your game to the Independent Game Festival at some point. Here are some tips on how, and why you should.
Game Design (General)
An insightful thread where game developers discuss hidden mechanics designed to make games feel more interesting - Title says it all. Check those comments too.
Game Design (RPGs)
Yanfly "Let's Make a Game" Comics - INCREDIBLY useful tips on how to make RPGs, going from dungeons to towns to enemy stats!!!!
Attack Patterns - A nice post on enemy attack patterns, and what attacks you should give your enemies to make them challenging (but not TOO challenging!) A very good starting point.
How To Balance An RPG - Twitter thread on how to balance player stats VS enemy stats.
Nobody Cares About It But It’s The Only Thing That Matters: Pacing And Level Design In JRPGs - a Good Post.
Game Design (Visual Novels)
Feniks Renpy Tutorials - They're good tutorials.
I played over 100 visual novels in one month and here’s my advice to devs. - General VN advice. Also highly recommend this whole blog for help on marketing your games.
I hope that was useful! If it was. Maybe. You'd like to buy me a coffee. Or maybe you could check out my comics and games. Or just my new critically acclaimed game In Stars and Time. If you want. Ok bye
#reference#tutorial#writing#rpgmaker#renpy#video games#game design#i had this in my drafts for a while so you get it now. sorry its so long#long post

I thought I looked for this video but couldn't find it, but I ended up finding it just now, so...
The way Stuart stares throughout, like, almost all of this is a bit unsettling! I'm wondering why that was necessary.
But I don't really care about the video because I prefer to listen to the song obviously, so I just wanted to point out two lyrics that catch my attention every time I listen to this song on repeat, even:
"Go on and change me/Hey rearrange me"
For a song like "Save Me" (where it's intentionally gospel-inspired but also intentionally NOT a gospel song), "rearrange me" sounds pretty...um...well, not exactly violent, but rather intense at the very least? And I'm not sure whether it's meant to especially relate to the gospel concept - like if it is, in a way, commentary on evangelism and religious (especially of the Christian persuasion) conversion, but it still seems...like, I'm not sure why it's necessary. I guess. Even though it's in the chorus. Or maybe that's an additional reason why it stands out to me (which would make sense)? I don't know - does anyone have any thoughts on these lines?
"I wasted time/That wasn't mine"
OH. Oh that is very "What's Mine is Yours" by Sleater-Kinney (yes, I know that "Save Me" predates that song by almost two decades), only less rebellious/defiant in the name of being and accepting yourself and others and actually more personally judgmental, so...actually kind of the opposite of "What's Mine is Yours", whoops. The whole verse, actually, is very interesting, and says a lot: "I wasted time/That wasn't mine/I hung the jury/I fled the crime" - because in reality, no one (supposedly [in their right mind]) would actually admit to those things, even with a massive amount of introspection and self-awareness, so I get the feeling that these lyrics are actually what the narrator wants to hear, and so, coming from the narrator, he's condemning these behaviors. And in fact, I think most, if not all of the song, is about that: the narrator is not admitting these things personally - he's victimizing himself in the name of manipulating a (hopefully) better outcome for himself from his emotional/mental perpetrator's future behaviors.
#I did not intend to analyze a whole song in like two sentences today hi. I have not even eaten anything yet today.#the only thing I have left to say is: 'ah yes from the man who wrote ''Broken Heart (Thirteen Valleys)''. who hurt you?'#only I am not saying that sympathetically. if you could believe.#man that guy was complex. I don't know that anyone could even scratch the surface of what plagued him.#Big Country#rock music#music#also for some reason after writing all of that and listening to the song again I went 'oh wow...you know what...#there's actually a LOT of guitar on this song. like maybe too much. damn.' :/ LOL maybe I'm getting hangry and that's why I'm so critical

I’m sorry to come to you like this since you probably wanted someone to come in for a reason for hope but I’m freaking out and have no one to talk to about this rn. A music artist I follow put this stuff in their story on instagram..how are things getting better??? I’m so confused and scared. I’m terrified to be alive. I should’ve died in election night. Idk if I can do this anymore. I don’t want the world to end nor live in an apocalypse/dystopia. I can’t do this. I’m not strong enough. I’m going to die before I even reach the age of 25 or 30 instead of dying of old age😥😥😥😥😥

First, breathe.
Second:
Go read these links. Keep going down the list until you feel better:
Read:
this article* on why the doomers are wrong
everything in Fix the News's awesome year-end roundup* of good news
everything in my masterpost on why we're going to beat climate change
everything from my masterpost on net negative carbon emissions
everything in Fix the News's archives, until you feel better
*it's a fantastic article in many ways but warning for (brief but serious) fatphobia and some annoying Western-centrism. Warning for fatphobia also applies to (one point on the) Fix the News roundup.
You should not have died on election night. Absolutely not. Yes, there are great injustices in the world. But this too shall pass. Literally everything does.
Some notes:
This isn't the end of the world. It's not about to be an apocalypse. And, if the world wasn't a dystopia when half of all people died before the age of 15 (aka all of history until the past 250 years), it's definitely not a dystopia now, imho. (x, x)
Literally every single week on Fix the News, I see the news that some country has ended some disease! Usually I see multiple stories about that each week! We're making real progress that has saved billions of lives!
In 1900, 120 years ago, there were 5 full liberal democracies in the entire world. Now, about 97 countries (out of approximately 195, depending on how you count) are democracies. That's almost half the countries in the world! This is actually, writ large, a time of massive expansion of human rights, hard as it is to believe from looking at the news. (x, x)
Also Imho the most likely explanation to the Fermi Paradox is that we're only 0.13% of the way through expected lifespan of the universe (x, x). Very little time for life to evolve, comparatively.
Finally:
Unfollow this person. Unfollow everyone who posts something that makes you feel suicidal - literally and ongoingly, every time you see a post that makes you spiral, immediately unfollow that person.
It's not about sticking your head in the sand. If you want, you can calendar time to check ACTUAL news sources (NOT social media) a couple times a week to make sure you're staying up on things.
But you know what? The number one priority is keeping yourself alive.
How are things actually getting better? To quote the first article I linked:
"I could tell you that a little more than 200 years ago, nearly half of all children born died before they reached their 15th birthday, and that today it’s less than 5 percent globally. I could tell you that in pre-industrial times, starvation was a constant specter and life expectancy was in the 30s at best. I could tell you that at the dawn of the 19th century, barely more than one person in 10 was literate, while today that ratio has been nearly reversed. I could tell you that today is, on average, the best time to be alive in human history."
Stay alive. And do what you need to do to keep yourself that way.
#strawberryraviegutz#ask#cw suicidal ideation#life#hope#hope for humanity#hope posting#us politics#uh very sincere apologies if you wanted me to answer this privately

hi tumblr! this is a not-so-friendly-but-really-tired reminder that please please PLEASEEEE stop giving emilia pérez your time and energy!!!

i'm not so eloquent to enlist all the things that are wrong with the movie so here's a quick thread i found on xtwitter:
i'm not trans myself but members of the trans community have also critized the narrative of the movie because of this
yes, i know we all love musicals but this one? ain't it. i know everybody's eager with trans representation moreover if it's a trans actor in a main role but this film? ain't it. really. and not this trans woman, a full racist and classist who called 'gatos' (cats, derogative) to mexicans for not liking the movie. really. just so you know this movie is soooo bad that not only mexico but all latin american countries are so angry because of it. that's why it hasn't released here yet.
also, to all people who tries to defend this movie as 'a cultural, policial and social diagnosis of mexican reality that mexican film industry always tries to hide under the rug' (in words of the film press campaign that defends emilia pérez). there are dozens of mexican films made by mexican directors and screenwriters that talk about the violence in the country, most of them with all the hurt and respect (even the not-dramatic ones) that is needed in a topic like this and not making it a cheap musical. here are some of them:

the most recent? sujo which was released last year too and talks about a niño sicario (a child hitman for the narco) that didn't get any nomination btw!!

so yeah, take your money and energy elsewhere. maybe go to watch "i'm still here" the only latino (brazilian) movie that is nominated this award season that talks about a mother and activist coping with the forced disappearance of her husband during the military dictatorship in brazil because that's how you should treat such sensitive topics, thanks.

#emilia perez#selena gomez#golden globes#academy awards#the oscars#dearindies#trans media#mexican film#this is not a mexican film btw it's french!#so pleaseee stop putting this shit on my dash thanks#karla sofia gascon

Harold Faltermeyer - Axel F 1985
"Axel F" is an electronic instrumental track by German musician Harold Faltermeyer. It served as the theme song for the 1984 film Beverly Hills Cop, its eponymous character (as portrayed by Eddie Murphy) and the film franchise it is based from, which became an international number-one hit in 1985. The track reached number one in Ireland as well as on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart. Additionally, it was a number two hit in Belgium, Canada, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the UK, and West Germany. In addition to the Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack, the song appears on Faltermeyer's 1988 album Harold F. as a bonus track.
Faltermeyer recorded the tune using five instruments: a Roland Jupiter-8 provided the distinctive saw lead, a Moog modular synthesizer 15 provided the bass, a Roland JX-3P provided chord stab brasses, a Yamaha DX7 was used for the marimba sound, and a LinnDrum was used for drum programming. All instruments were played by Faltermeyer. According to Faltermeyer, the initial reaction to his first presentation of the track to the film's producers and director did not result in an immediate approval; it was not until director Martin Brest voiced his approval that the producers showed enthusiasm. A music video was produced to promote the single, directed by Faltermeyer.
"Axel F" has been sampled in many songs, including "Champion" by South Korean singer Psy. In 2005, Crazy Frog's version became a summer hit. It topped the charts in the UK, with some of the best weekly sales of the year, and remained at the top of the UK Singles Chart for four weeks to become Britain's third-best-selling single of 2005, outselling and outperforming the original version. It also reached number 1 in Australia, the Republic of Ireland, Belgium, Denmark, New Zealand, Norway, Ukraine, Spain, and Sweden. In France, the song stayed at number 1 for thirteen weeks, only to be dethroned by Crazy Frog's second single, "Popcorn". This was only the second time that an artist had ever dethroned themself in that country. It peaked at number 3 on the US Digital Sales chart, and number 2 on the US Adult Contemporary Top 20. In 2024, as part of a tribute to celebrate the release of Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, the Crazy Frog Youtube Channel made a special crossover music video with Netflix, featuring scenes from the movie, but re-edited to feature Crazy Frog in them, being chased by the Beverly Hills Police and Axel Foley.
"Axel F" received a total of 88,3% yes votes!

Holiday request: single dad
Bruce admits that he is unsure of the seriousness of his relationship with Daniel Fenton. He had never meant to run into the man after the parent-teacher conference. Yes, his introduction had a breath of fresh air, but Bruce was not naive.
It may have all been a trick, and Fentong was merely waiting to try to get closer to him or his money later on. He has always been optimistic about the good in man's hearts, but Bruce is also familiar with the equal darkness there.
That's why spotting the man in a busy cafe was such a shock. Bruce had gone on a walk between meetings, wanting something sweet to tie him over for the follow-up one.
He walked into a random family-owned place with a spicy smell. Bruce had been browsing the menu when he heard the soft melody for Fairy Tale Ending by Dumpty Humpty. Looking around a pillar, he found Daniel Fenton bobbing his head to the music while tapping away on his old beat-up laptop.
The cashier sees him staring and smiles apologetically. "We don't usually have people here, so we let him play his music. If it bothers you, I can ask him to get his headphones on."
"Oh no. I actually like the band." He assures her, paying for his drink and dropping a ten in her tip jar. He glances at Fenton again, then points, "What is he drinking?"
"Gingerbread Latte and a chocolate croissant," She responds easily, and at that moment, Bruce knows she hasn't recognized him. Not that he expects everyone on the street to point him out in a crowd, but it does mean she won't take pictures of him.
She doesn't know the photos could get her some money from down-on-their-luck gossip rags. He considers Fenton a little longer before nodding at her. "Can I have a gingerbread Latte? The exact same as his."
"You got it."
Bruce doesn't know what urges him to approach Fenton with the two drinks- though the cashier giving him a wink might have clued him in and clears his throat just as Fenton gets to the chorus. Blue eyes blink up at him. "Oh, Mr. Wayne. Hi."
"Good afternoon," Bruce starts, which causes Fenton to snort. With good-natured humor, he grins up at Bruce, and Bruce feels his intrigue rise just a few notches higher.
"Good afternoon to you as well, milord." The man says, one hand over his chest, bending his neck a little in a mock bow. "Has thy golden carriage brought to thy to me?"
"Having a golden carriage is a privilege for only the Roayl family. My carriage is made of silver, I assure you." Bruce laughs, stepping closer. This is different from the cashier. Fenton knows who he is, but he simply doesn't care.
Bruce is merely Bruce to him instead of the wealthiest man in the city and the country. It's....well, it's liberating, like being reminded that there are good and wonderful things still left in life. If this is how Fenton makes him feel only after the second meeting, what else could Bruce experience if he formed a bond with him?
Fenton's eyes catch the extra drink Bruce holds, lighting up when the other man offers it to him. He accepts the cup, offering the chair opposite from him. When Brue sits down, he asks about what he was writing where. Fenton admits to being a fantasy novelist and moves the conversation to what they enjoy reading.
Bruce arrived late to his next meeting but felt lighter, and a phone number scribbled on the back of his hand just like when he was a teenager and traveling states away to attend Dumpty Humpty Concerts.
The rest, like they say, is history.
Danny had quickly become a part of his life. It was odd how giggly the other man made him feel. Danny was a good balance to Bruce's brooding. Ironically, while Bruce believed the best in humans, keeping a calm center persona, Danny was cynical and bubbly. He assumed people were terrible, but there was no reason to give them any mind, and he was unapologetic for being himself.
After their third date, Bruce has worked up the nerve to ask Danny to be his boyfriend, only to have the other man laugh. "I thought we were boyfriends?"
"I didn't want to assume."
"Well, aren't you a gentleman? Look at those soft hands. You've never seen a day of work. Gentle-handed man," Danny teased while watching the people around them. Bruce knew there wasn't any real danger, but Danny had a habit of watching their surroundings in public places.
He didn't like being caught unaware. Bruce thinks he's in love. The thing is, Bruce has thought that before, and every single time, his relationship had fallen through.
He had a hand in it, but that didn't mean his partners never broke his heart one way or another.
But this time, things would be different.
Dick had pointed it out when he ran into the two at the grocery store. Danny had invited him to help pick out dinner while Dani had been on an overnight field trip at the planetarium. His eldest had cornered him when he returned the next day, smiling widely.
"Danny seems excellent. He's like an undercover goth dating an undercover prep. You both are literally the opposite of each other and seem to like spending time around each other."
Bruce wasn't entirely sure whether it was a bad or good thing, but he was happy that his kids approved of him dating again. He did get a little nervous about Damian, only to find out his youngest had come to idolize Dani, and that only made him hope the relationship would work out even more.
He could see it now, Danny tapping away on his laptop while Dani painted next to him in the Wayne Manor yard- Both preferred to be in nature- on cozy weekends. His children crowding the breakfast table while Danny sang songs from bands he'd never heard.
Birthday candles are being blown out with the cheering family. Christmas mornings followed the candle lighting of Hanukkah on the previous eight nights. Graduation ceremonies that will bring Bruce to tears despite claiming he has trained too hard to do so. Boyfriends and girlfriends, the two could tag team into scaring while their children regretted ever bringing them over for an introduction.
Danny would be the last thing he saw when he closed his eyes before bed and the first thing he saw in the morning light.
Bruce wasn't sure how their relationship was going, but he hoped, oh, he hoped.

I'm convinced people who say they listen to "anything but country" are just parroting the sentiment they heard on tumblr in 2014 because you're telling me you wouldn't pop your pussy to Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson? If you're telling me you can't take Loretta Lynn or Johnny Cash or old Taylor Swift all I'm hearing is that you're a candy-ass coward
#I also don't love country a la Morgan Wallen#yes yes yes blah blah modern country bad whatever#just...look harder#Also don't act like pop punk + rap + some other random genre is “everything”#I need girlies who listen to rap metal and neo psychedelia and the weeknd to be making this claim#music

a rodeo!abby x reader. | p.ii
its a hot spring in the south and rodeo season is here. your hunt for a new fling leads you to an up-and-coming hotshot bull rider with an aversion to groupies. maybe you can change her mind.
wc : 2.509
contains : fxf relationship. barely attempted country slang. fluff. smut. oral and penetrative sex (r!receiving). nicknames (baby, darlin', a single bunny).
a/n : yeah guess who just listened to cowboy carter. idk why i posted about this before writing a single word but i didn't procrastinate this time yall clap it up and enjoy.
if you think about it, this was really all dolly partons' fault.
you could still picture the first time you saw her, the grainy recording on your grandmother's television, the gentle melodies from the blonde bombshell wrapping around you like a warm hug. you'd only been exposed to the south for a few weeks, and you already knew who you wanted your role model to be.
and the buckle bunny stuff also wasn't your fault! you were gorgeous, as people so loved to remind you at every twist and turn. and maybe you used your looks to your advantage sometimes. the first time was when you batted your eyelashes to make a boy do your project a day before it was due in junior year. he was... good-looking, you supposed. smart enough to be on the chess team, so he would do.
so you went to a little party with your friends that night. a spacious house, nice music, and good enough booze. everything was normal until you saw her. she was lean and mysterious, and under the lid of her black ridge top hat you could see her eyes tracking your body as you danced
so yes, her eating you in the back seat of her truck until you cried, holding down your hips when you tried to move changed your brain chemistry just a bit.
now a few years later, you're a little taller, a little smarter, and have collected a handful of studs for your belt. sure you've collected a...not so savory reputation in some of the local bars, but it was nothing a smile and a little flirting couldn't help. and its only going to get better; as the air warms and the trees bloom pussy spirit starts buzzing, and you know rodeo season is upon you again.
it was a hot night at the cow belle and the people even hotter as you scoped the scene from the rim of your glass. you and your friends were perched at the bar, daisy dukes heightened and crop tops tied under your busts.
"i heard red devil rosie'd be here tonight," savannah whispers to your group from beside you, her tall dark legs relaxed with her arm resting on the wood behind you. she always had a bit of a thing for redheads, and she'd had her eyes on rosie ever since it got around that she'd broken up with her fiancee.
"jesus, sav, the poor girl just got heartbroken, now you already wanna jump her bones?" charlize laughs, taking a hard swig of the beer in her hand. standing at a solid five feet and four inches tall the little kentuckian was a handful, always the first in line to ride a mechanical bull or jump in the front of a line dance.
"whats that saying men always use? as soon as you lose one hop on a 'nother?"
"you are deplorable."
as the girls banter back and forth your eyes focus on the rising commotion at the front of the bar. with a slight rise on your toes, making sure not to scuff your boots, and you can't help the growing smile on your face when you spot that blonde hair pushed down by her signature brown stetson.
abigail anderson, the rodeo's angel. she'd only been in the circuit for under two years and sponsors were lining up and begging for her to go pro. it was always easy to spot her, frequently trailed by her already professional friends manny alvarez and owen moore, along with a handful of groupies begging her to look their way.
luckily for you, manny had flirted with you a few weeks back and remained friendly after you turned him down, and he was heading straight towards you while his friends headed to a booth.
"oh god, hide your wives and girlfriends, the buckle brood is here!" he laughs, thanking the bartender for his beer and taking a swig.
"whatever manny, you're just upset our darling here didn't give you a chance." savannah winks.
"i think god was doing me a favor. y'know dixie's been trying to call you for about a week? the poor girls even thought about sending a bouquet. dixie. a bouquet."
"i made it clear before we slept together it would be a one-time thing. 's not my fault she wants more." you sigh.
that just makes the man laugh harder. he chats it up with charlize about how the rankings are looking when he notices how your gaze keeps wandering off, following your eye straight to-
"no."
"hm? i didnt say anything!"
"you said it with your eyes. and im gonna tell you with my mouth that you don't stand a chance. abby hates groupies." he shakes his head.
"abby, huh? i like it." manny grows exasperated as his words go in one ear and out the other. "'n and im technically not a groupie. never seen the woman in my life before now."
"well, look don't touch. or maybe don't look at all, before you put a spell on her or somethin."
you pout, reaching up to wrap your arms around his neck and bring him into a hug. you see abby look your way in the corner of your eye and make sure to stretch your torso just a tiny bit until you're able to feel the bottom of your shirt ride up just that much more. when you see her eyes trail down your waist you hide a smile into the side of your arm.
you let the man go with a sweet goodbye, watching as he grabs two more beers and heads over to the booth and twisting your head before you can catch the blondes gaze.
its only a few minutes later when manny comes back with wide eyes and invites you over to sit with them.
sitting across from her, you can see why people are so attracted to her. she’s big, her muscles bulging out from the sleeves in her plaid shirt. despite her size she doesn’t try to take up more space then needed; confident but not cocky.
she clearly notices your glances, and maybe even the smile on your face when one of her past flings with a girl is brought up in conversation.
“so, you’ve had girlfriends before?” you ask, stirring your cocktail with the little colorful umbrella that came with it.
“no no, don’t answer that, you’ll regret it.” owen butts in, meeting your glare. you’d never talked before, but you were pretty sure you had slept with his fiancée a few years ago. last you’d heard they’d had a baby, maybe you’d offer to babysit sometime.
“why not? are you a groupie?” abby asks.
“can’t be a groupie if i barely know who you are. so why don’t we get to know each other better. preferably in private.”
“whatever you say, darlin.”
you hear the sudden sounds of a few hoots and claps and a familiar song that they always play to get people dancing.
“why don’t you show me some of your moves, big girl?”
she rolls her eyes, letting out a quiet sigh before following you onto the dance floor.
as much as she’s trying to fight it, you can tell abby is enjoying herself, learning quickly as you show her the moves to the dance. you’re a bit surprised she doesn’t know it already until she tells you she’s originally from utah.
“what, they don’t have country bars out in salt lake.”
“no, not like this. at least i never went to any of them.”
“wellll if you ever need a tour guide i’m available. whenever you want me.”
“god, manny told me about you.”
“really? what’s he say? i can probably guess.”
“so you know everybody thinks you’re a playgirl who sleeps with cowgirls for damn near a living and you don’t care?”
you shrug. “‘m just young and having fun. maybe everyone else, including you, is too uptight.”
“oh really? and what, you're supposed to help me loosen up?” she raises a single eyebrow. you don't answer, deciding to just look at her face for a while.
you like how pretty she is. the soft blue of her big eyes, the freckles dotted across her face that trail down her neck and disappear into her shirt. you feel pride in your chest when you see her cheeks redden.
when the song ends you pull away from her, ready to go over and tell your friends goodbye when a large hand grips your wrist, tugging your body back to its previous position. before you can question her you feel the weight of her hat sitting on your head.
"well? you gonna answer my question?"
you can still remember the looks on your friends face's when abby told them she was heading home, still gripping your hand. manny looked like he had just seen pigs fly.
it was hard to ignore the way she didn't let go of you until she was driving or the looks she was giving you when she was looking at the road, or how desperate she was when you finally got her here, dragging you to her room and attaching her strap like she'd die if she didn't get you in bed.
"i don't see what the big fuss is about, this really isn't that hard." you tease her, admiring the way she whines when you refuse to let her wrists go from your hands, using all your strength to keep her from flipping you over
but maybe you should learn when to shut your mouth because she roughly starts bucking her hips, smiling at the euphoric look on your face before you hide your face in her neck, trying and failing to muffle your moans.
"what? i thought you said this was easy?" she laughs when she hears your muffled groan, failing to ignore when you roughly bite her. you can tell she's getting frustrated at being restrained, her hands clenching into fists and repeatedly trying to get them from under your hands. "fuckin - cmon, baby, lemme help you."
god, she was so cute. you'd never say it out loud but you liked all the little nicknames she gave you, the gentle kisses she would place on your skin when she was warming you up for her. if you didn't have a one-time policy you would have chosen to keep her around. just for a little while.
but you could also see the inner turmoil in her eyes, the battle between dominance and submission. when you first met her you thought she'd be a stone top, so you decide to take advantage and reach one of your hands up to her hair and pull, forcing a loud moan from her as her mouth gaped open.
"not so uptight now, are you?" you laugh, awwing at her when she lets out a small whine.
you didnt realize until it was too late that it was a mistake to underestimate her because she was attaching her hands to your hips, planting her feet on the bed, and thrusting up into you like a wild bull, sucking a mark into your chest like she can't see you struggling to breathe.
"yeah, that's it. not so easy now, is it darlin'?"
and oh how you hate how you can't answer her, only able to muster up a weak glare as the pleasure grows, feeling the burning heat gross in your stomach. you're trying to hold off, not ready for this to end just yet, and hating the satisfied look on her face when your shaky arms wrap around her neck.
"you gettin' close, baby?" she maneuvers your legs to spread wider, hitting that spot inside you at just the right angle. god, everything feels so hot and overwhelming and so damn good-
"that's it, show me how pretty you look cummin around me." once she reaches a hand down and roughly rubs your clit it's over, moaning and gasping her name as your orgasm hits you like a freight train. she never stops her movements, in fact, you think she goes harder once she feels your nails dig into her arms.
your head flops onto her shoulder, basking in your post-orgasm bliss as her large hands rub up and down your back. mind hazy, you feel yourself drifting off and giving yourself a mental pat on the back when you're shocked upwards by a fierce thrust from below you, wide eyes darting to abby's.
"what, ya thought we were finished? if you wanna claim me you gotta earn it, bunny."
"oh no, abby i cant-" you try to decline, not sure you can take another before she presses you back into her sheets, manhandling your legs over her shoulders and your arms under your back. she can tell you're about to fight it because she's pushing her strap into you again.
it's embarrassing how close you are already after a few minutes, unable to move as she splits you open in a damn mating press. trying to hide your face in the sheets is futile so you have no choice but to keep eye contact with her, which only brings you closer to the edge because she's looking at you like she wants to fuck you until she physically can't anymore.
she's quieter now but you can hear her mumbling under her breath about how 'you're too damn fine, jesus you're gonna be the death of me,' and the next thing you know you're both cumming, feeling the wet mess grow between your legs.
she sinks into you, boneless on top of you as she gently rubs at your sides as you do the same for her head. after a few minutes she gets up, pressing a gentle kiss to your lips at your soft whine at the strap leaving you before heading off to the bathroom to get a washcloth.
it's gentle as you both clean the other, softly trailing the rag down her arms as she observes you. its almost...domestic. which you haven't done in quite a while. it feels nice.
when she gets up to throw it in the hamper you reach for your clothes on the floor before she questions you.
"excuse me, what do you think you're doin?"
"uhh...leaving?"
"nope, bad manners if i let you go home now," she tosses you a shirt from one of her drawers, finding her own pajamas before flopping on her bed. "i don't know what kinda girls in the circuit you've been seein', but I'm not like that."
you're on the fence, rubbing the fabric of her large shirt before putting it on and settling in next to her. it couldn't hurt just to sleep with her, right? "fine. but you should know i don't normally do...this."
"me neither. but there's a first time for everything, right?" she smiles, rubbing your hip from over the shirt before trailing it under. "besides, maybe we can go again in the morning. still need to prove to you I'm not uptight."
thank god for dolly parton.
