What style Peter Parker is the best design?
If we're going by his character design in just the shows, hmmm, well...
I have grown very fond of his USM design, especially he seems to have grown with his own design throughout the seasons. If you compare him in season 1 to him in season 4, the changes are INSANE.
I mean, look at my profile pic! He's so pretty ♥‿♥
I didn't especially like his design in MSM, but that might've just been because I kind of got annoyed with him over all, maybe? Like, the design itself is fine, but then he started talking and it ruined it a little for me LMAO No hate to the voice actor at all, MSM Peter just sounded so annoying, which is like poking a beehive I know, because USM Peter is voiced by Drake Bell XD
SSM Peter was a pretty good design, I think. He's a little cutie and I love the little mole by his eye. Very cute. 10/10.
Spider-Man the Animated Series Peter not as much, only because he looks like such a chad XD but he's also one of the few adult Peter Parker's that we got in an animated show, and I NEED more adult Peter please and thank you. His design wasn't really all that bad, it's just that almost every other male character in the show had the exact same build as him XD Which is also like poking a beehive, because most of USM's male and female characters share a similar build.
I do LOVE Spider-Man Unlimited Peter's design. What a cutie in all his saturated colors. I love it.
You know what, I think Spider-Man Unlimited is my favorite Peter design. I think he's just neat. And I love him.
#Spider-Man Unlimited needs more love for real#also no hate to MSM Peter fans#I know its like the pot calling the kettle black#but I just find MSM so annoying when he speaks#he's too much#I just can't with him#I did really enjoy the Superior Spider-Man arc tho#Spider-Man the New Animated Series#it's my beloved#so much nostalgia#and my first introduction to Spider-Man#USM Peter is so pretty now and no one can tell me otherwise#Specatular Spider-Man is good too though#Ultimate Spider-Man#spectacular spiderman#Peter Parker#Spider-Man#Spider-Man Unlimited#asks#anonymous#anon

One of my toxic traits as a superhero fan is when adaptations make the villain connected to the hero’s origin I sometimes like it and sometimes don’t and either way I usually have no specific reasoning for my opinion other than Vibes.
#in most cases i actually do like it#the spider that bit peter parker being altered by oscorp a la ultimate comics? cool.#brainiac playing a role in krypton's destruction a la dcau and injustice? cool.#mandarin being directly or indirectly responsible for iron man's origin a la the 90s cartoon and mcu? cool.#magneto being responsible for professor x getting paralyzed a la first class? actually better than how it happened in the comics#doctor doom being involved in the fantastic four's origin? eeeh depends#i don't like the ultimate version or either of the movie versions where he also gets powers in the same incident#and also his skin is actually metal instead of wearing armor#that shit's lame#but i DO like the world's greatest heroes cartoon where he sabotages their mission by lowering their shields#and THAT'S what leads to them getting powers and also causes the explosion that scars him#way i see it if he HAS to be part of their origin the way that show did it was best#the only major example or the villain creating the hero where i NEVER like it is when joker is responsible for the wayne deaths#be it directly like in the tim burton movie or indirectly like that joker movie that didn't need to exist#like joker being responsible for batman's parents dying is just way too coincidental#some of those other examples are also kinda coincidental but they at least feel like natural connections to make#whereas joker creating batman is just forced#oh and sandman killing uncle ben in the raimi movies and black cat's dad killing him in spectacular for the same reason#the murders of the waynes and uncle ben both just work better when the killer is just some random crook whose identity isn't important#but yeah the rest of those examples are all perfectly fine with me lmao#shut up tristan

APCA: First this one's on top, and then the other: ITZY(ft. a mystery Guest)
Series Masterlist
(Part 1 of the Itzy Arc: Ryujin, Yeji and Yuna's breaking is begun. Lia and Chaeryoung's breaking begins in the next part. Still not that much smut, I promise it comes soon)
TW! The aforementioned sexual exploitation, pretty much non-con, slight torture, drugging. (DO NOT READ IF NOT COMFORTABLE)
"Send her as soon as you can. She'll be instrumental." You say into the phone, hearing Aegis agree on the other side of the phone.
Hanging up, you looked around the room, ensuring the room was clear, before sighing. This was a part of your life you had hoped not to reignite. Before you joined the force, you had a...troubled past, with problematic habits and compulsions. All that was shed once you donned the uniform, but now, as you shed the uniform, you are also forced to go back to your problematic habits. You knew this was meant for the sake of ending the suffering. That's what you told yourself, you had to insist, because to end this suffering, countless idols had to suffer, and ultimately break. What's worse, it was going to be by your hand. You prayed that this would work, or else the demons you let back out of you would have been freed for naught, and there was no escape.
Hearing a knock on the door, you quickly recomposed yourself. "Come in." You say, a bespectacled man entered the room, his seemingly elegant and posh tone in stark contrast to his bulky build more akin to a wrestler than a noble as his voice would suggest.
"The preparations you've requested are in place."
"Very well, wait for me outside room 4, and enter when I call for you" You command, the man nodding, turning to walk out.
Turning to the table, you look through 4 cameras, your very own dollhouse.
In Camera 1, Shin Yuna sat on a huge bed, you would argue more extravagant then the room in her own dorm. She was clearly confused, looking around the room trying to find any traps, but no, it seemed like a normal bedroom, much more comfortable than the warehouse floor that she had found herself chained down to not too long ago. The only weird thing she had on was a chastity belt, but in her terrified state, she didn't question it. She would rather have it on than be defiled by some asshole. In your few recordings of Aegis' half assed attempted training of her, you knew you needed to play the long game with her.
In Camera 2, Lee Chaeryoung found herself caught in a spider's web, her hands and feet bound to a web of rope behind her, with her eyes impaired by a blindfold, completely naked except for a collar and leash, also a vibrator lightly stimulating her. She needed a more direct approach than Yuna, a perfect whirlwind of shock, terror and protectiveness.
In Cameras 3 and 4, there were two different rooms, though both rooms could see each other. In the first, Choi Lia, held in place by leather bounds, body locked in a kneeling position, hands locked behind her back, causing her tits to jut out. Her mouth was stuffed with a red ball gag, with a large shock collar around her neck, but her eyesight was not impaired, though she almost wished she was. She didn't know what to make of the sight before her.
Hwang Yeji and Shin Ryujin, on a seesaw, but one straight out of a shitty fetish film. Weirdly enough, you did by that from a porn set, well, then modified to suit what you needed it for. On both ends, laid a white silicone dildo, lined up to the honeypots of the two idols in distress, looking at each other in confusion and fear. These two were the ones you anticipated taking the longest, with the most fight. So you had to go the route of protectiveness but also, distrust. It was probably going to help break Lia too. The two idols were bound tightly, strapped securely to the seesaw.
from Putting on a face of a sadistic "master", you walked into the room, the two idols eyes immediately darting to you. You felt a wave of pity rush over you, a shameful rush of excitement too, but you had to push it down. Means to an end, you insisted "What the fuck do you want, bastard." Ryujin immediately spat out, causing you to shake your head animatedly. Pulling a remote out of your pocket, you flourished it in front of the two idols. Pressing a button, you could hear the muffled scream of Lia from behind you as the two idols screamed in fear. After an initial shock, Lia's body relaxed, though her body heaved from the pain, struggling to catch her breath. "What the fuck did you do to her you asshole!" Yeji shouted, as you sighed. Good lord. Another scream emerged from behind you, and you could see tear well up in Yeji's eyes, and fear flicker across Ryujin's face. "Now now girls, no need for name calling. We're here to play a game, and what is a game without some rules. Show some decorum, will you ladies?" You ask almost tauntingly. Realizing what you meant, the two of them held their tongue. They didn't want risk antagonizing you any further. "So, b-. you, what game are we playing?" Yeji asked, her voice almost a sneer. A little close, but you didn't want to hurt Lia too much, so you chose to ignore it. "We're playing a little game called, well, SeeSaw. I'm sure you've noticed the dildos underneath you. In a moment, once the game starts, it'll begin to vibrate, and rest assured my ladies, it'll only grow stronger as it goes." You explain. "That's not a game." Ryujin spat back. "How rude, interrupting me. I wasn't done. So, the game, Miss Shin, Miss Hwang, is a battle of trust, sacrifice, and endurance. Over the next 2 hours, you'll be competing over who orgasms the least. The winner is rewarded, and the loser will be swapped into the hot seat. As you can see, currently, Miss Choi is in the hot seat. Not only does your orgasms determine who wins, it also determines how well Miss Choi will enjoy the game. Whenever one of you orgasms, a shock will be delivered to Miss Choi. It's non fatal, that much I assure you, but I promise you it hurts more than a little." Behind you, you hear a muffled whimper, seeing Lia begin to cry. "So for Miss Choi's sake, I hope you two ladies are well trained. Now for the games element. You'll find in your hands, a remote. The top button sends your side of the seesaw up, and the bottom button sends your side of the seesaw down. Me personally, considering how close you girls are, I'm sure you girls will only be using the bottom button to save the other. However, if at any moment should you choose to grow competitive, the top button is always available for you to relieve yourself of the dildo. Don't fight each other though, sitting on it is probably better than constantly getting impaled by it." You run a hand down Yeji and Ryujin's thighs, lightly patting their pussies as they both lightly growled. "And if it serves as any motivation, this is the reward." You pulled a tablet out, showing them a live feed of Yuna's room. Yuna had made herself comfortable, body clad in a purple silk negligee, lying on the bed watching TV. "Winning has it's benefits." You remind the girls, as you moved to the two girls, shoving a ball gag into their mouths, covering their eyes with a blindfold. "The game begins in a minute. Godspeed ladies." You say Before you left the room, you decided to have some fun, walking up to Ryujin, leaning down as you ran a tongue across her puffy slit, and you could tell she was trying her best not to moan. That defiant look on her face. You had seen it many times before. And you've seen them all break before. Moving to Yeji, you did the same, though Yeji reacted much differently, your tongue illiciting a moan from the leader. You smirk, feeling your emotions overrun you as you lean in, nibbling on her nipples as you felt her contort. That was enough though. The game must begin, and the show must go on
You left the room, seeing the man from earlier. Fishing a controller out from your pocket, you hand it to him. "Let them control it first, maybe around 10 minutes, then, take control, just go crazy with it, make it akin to a seesaw. Up and down and up and down. Understood?" You say as you noticed a gleeful smile crack across his face. "How devious, sir. I understand. About Miss Choi?" He asked. Looking down to the control, you hesitated. "Go easy on her, I don't want her too tired to be broken." You give a quick excuse, which the man bought. You'd join them again in around an hour, but for now, you had to begin with Yuna and Chaeryoung. First, Yuna.
Going to Room 1, you picked up the tray of food left by the man earlier, then knocking on the door.
From behind the door, you heard Yuna hesitantly reply, "Come in."
Opening the door, you saw Yuna curl up under the blanket, not wanting to expose herself to this stranger. "Why am I here, where are my girls?" Yuna asked, slightly defiantly. This trick required some acting, well, it was close enough to the actual truth. "Please, let me explain, Miss Shin. I'm a business partner of the man who...did this to you. He knew I'm a big fan of you girls, and he offered for me to come and, well, sample you girls." Hearing that, Yuna instinctively pulled the blanket higher, inching away from you. "No, Miss Shin, I'm not here to do that, I assure you. I'm not involved in any of this, and suffice to say I was more than shocked to hear what was being done to you girls. I'm working on freeing you girls, but...it's complicated, the man is stubborn. For now, this is all I can give you girls. Comfortable housing, and no one touches you girls until this deal is finally done and I can set you girls free." You say, and you saw Yuna's doe eyes widen, and you could tell what she was thinking. Though a thousand questions swirled in her head, you knew the imperative question was, can I trust this man? "Are you telling the truth?" Yuna asked, and there, she was on the hook. "I promise you Miss Shin. I'l-" You began to say, but she quickly cut you off. "Yuna. You can call me Yuna." She said, with a hesitant but small smile. You felt your heart suddenly flutter, what was this? You couldn't afford to get softhearted in this mission. "Okay, Yuna, I promise you. I'll do what I can, as soon as I can. For now, all I can do is bring you your meals once in a while, maybe accompany you a little to help you pass the time. Well, other than the K Dramas. That was a weirdly hard sell to the man on top." You say, acting sheepish as Yuna let out a soft giggle, seemingly finding a small reprieve from this horror. Turning around, you took the tray you had brought in, opening it to reveal a pizza. Yuna hungrily grabbed at the Pizza, it must have been so long since she had last eaten proper food. "This is delicious" Yuna barely mumbled out, her words muffled by the pizza. You were glad you could bring happiness to her, but you were also secretly happy at your scheme going well. Unbeknownst to Yuna, the Pizza contained trace amounts of aphrodisiac. A small dose for the first day, but it'll slowly increase, driving her insane. As you sat with her, you allowed your fanboy side to come out, allowing Yuna to take her mind off her current situation. After around 30 minutes, Yuna had finished the pizza, and you received a message. She was on her way, you had to wrap it up. "I'm sorry Yuna, I have to go now. I told them to make sure they serve you and your groupmates good food, so eat up alright?" You shoot her a reassuring smile, and she hesitantly smiles back, before leaning toward you, leaving a kiss on your cheek. "I'll see you soon." She whispered.
Going back to your office, you saw a giant metal frame on wheels, the woman bound to it similar to how Chaeryoung was. Smiling in satisfaction, you took a moment, giving into desire as you leaned down, toying with the woman, a sudden burst of impulsiveness leading you to kneel down, shoving two fingers up her moist snatch as you roughly fingered her pussy, causing her body to thrash against the frame. Your fingers toyed with her till she finally came, squirting all over the floor. Coming back to your senses, you try to shake it off, slight shame overrunning you. You didn't want to take any pleasure from this.
Going into room 2, you saw Chaeryoung lightly panting, a light coat of sweat over her skin as she tried to stifle her arousal from the vibrator.
Setting up the woman you had brought in, you placed her right opposite to Chaeryoung, then moving to Chaeryoung, ripping her blindfold off.
As Chaeryoung's vision steadied, she could vaguely make out a figure who she assumed to be Ryujin, or Yuna maybe, but as her vision cleared, she almost screamed in terror.
Across from Chaeryoung, hung in a similar fashion, and in the same exact fashion, was her sister, Lee Chaeyeon.

This is my first time asking but I'm going to ask anyway (and English is not my native language) I'm curious to know how your OC and the destined one met (I mean how was their first interaction)
hi hi! thank you so much for your ask, this is the first time I have received one about my OC <3
probably something like this (read right-to-left)
Gonna use this chance to talk a bit more about my AU lol
Wrote in a separate post here that Oz has met Sun Wukong before when she was a child and he was buried under the mountain.
So when she got whisked back into fantasy ancient China, she landed where Yuan Shoucheng aka Gourd Grandpa (the old man carrying a big gourd on his back) was already waiting there for her. He foresaw her arriva. The vague gist of my AU is that the the reason why this Destined One succeeds in retrieving all artifacts and becomes SWK is because he is also sort of the manifestation of that childish promise 5-years-old Oz made that she will save SWK one day (from under the mountain but clearly that didn't happen lol). But also since her ancestor is from this world, her descendants were fated to return back here one day.
Gourd grandpa updates her on her ancestors and their roles in the Celestial Court and the shitstorm that happened that ultimately let to the clan being massacred and one person escaping to "our" world, where magic doesn't exist and all those people are just characters from myths and stories. But also her ancestor isn't the only person that traversed through the two worlds - over the centuries more have come and gone. This is also why people in her world have those myths and deities. In my AU Wu Cheng'en also escaped from fantasy ancient China into her world and then wrote Journey to the West. He took artistic liberty to change some things for his novel, hence some things in BMW are different than in JTTW (like the ZBJ and violet spider love story or how SWK had a romance with White Bone Demon).
Anywayyy, Oz task on the adventure is to document their journey together, and she is responsible for using the magical gourd to suck in the will of the defeated bosses in.
And 2-3 days later the Destined One shows up. I don't think Oz was very happy about leaving gourd grandpa and join the Destined One on his travel, but if he is her best chance to find a way back home to see Taylor Swift live, then she will do it.
The Destined One is indifferent to mildly annoyed about this, but doesn't protest too much, as long as she doesn't slow him down yadda yadda. I do think that DO did feel some sort of special connection to her, because he is sort of a manifestation of that promise. it doesn't really take long for him to get used to her and also to care for her. One of Sun Wukong's massive core trait is that he cares so much for his loved ones and does not hesitate to do the impossible for them, and I like to imagine that even though SWK senses have been split into 6 different parts, the caring part stayed with each Destined One reincarnation.
#szynkART#the ham talks#yes#the DO falls first#but Oz falls harder#also also Oz is a splitting image of her ancestor that fled the celestial court to her world (not a reincarnation)#the celestial court blamed the clan for something they wre innocent of hence#but it was an excuse to slaughter the clan#gourd grandpa was a friend of her great great great great 10x grandma#and Erlang Shen saw the injustice in this all so he was the one who obtained the portal scroll and helped the ancestor to escape#after BMW it think it's on brand for him to do that#played with the idea that maybe they were engaged but it was a one-sided love (erlang lol) but eh#it would be weird to see their descendeant that is a splitting image of your loved one LOL#anyway. I have liks SO MANY lore ideas for Oz if you wanna know more feel free to drop and ask!#cepheus baskerville#black myth wukong#black myth wukong oc#sun wukong#sun wukong x oc#sun wukong x reader

You know what? Im breaking my silence. Im TIRED of people missing Jess’ character on purpose. Like, everyone can use context clues and fill in the blanks for every other character but somehow Jess is the only one taken at face value? Jess is being seen as a cold, detached, mean bitch by fans but I cannot determine whether we even watched the same movie.
Let’s address the elephant in the room, because she is a black woman who is NOT a mammy character, people criticize her harsher. Jess was MORE than Miguel’s “lackey”. She had her own thoughts and opinions. She definitely had her own personality and feelings about the entire situation. She lowkey stalled time to give Gwen chances to fix her mistakes.
If Jess was as cold as Miguel and such a “bitch”, she would’ve left Gwen the first time. Let’s not forget that Miguel was fully about to leave Gwen with her own father holding her at gunpoint, JESS vouched to bring Gwen under her name. Jess put her OWN position at risk to help Gwen and it required that she do her job accordingly. Jess made the boundary VERY clear, she is NOT Gwen’s mother. She is NOT her friend. I seen people argue that “Jess’ maternal instincts” should’ve kicked in to protect Gwen” but fully ignoring that Jess HAS A FAMILY! Jess is PREGNANT with her OWN child. Her instincts DID kick in and she chose her dimension with her family in it!
Jess was stuck in a rock and a hard place. She obviously wanted to help Gwen (considering she brought her in at the cost of her own position) but UNFORTUNATELY, GWEN messed up. Gwen saw Miles and that ultimately led to Spot escaping. You can love these characters and acknowledge that every character had their OWN thoughts and motivations that led to fuck ups. It’s not right to try to make Jess sound worse than the man who fuckin replaced his dead self out of grief, was about to leave a teen at gunpoint, and had an entire society of people chase a teenager who wanted to save his dad.
Don’t get me started on the “she’s fighting crime while pregnant argument” because we can accept superpowered people but NOT the possibility that their bodies are more resilient. NOT TO MENTION THAT PETER B HAS A WHOLE BABY ON MISSIONS???? Like, no one is calling him a bad father so what’s different with Jess? Miguel was mean as fuck to Miles upon meeting but Jess doing her JOB is considered being “mean”.
Then the “I didn’t see her enough to connect with her” is fair until everyone can somehow create entire {TERRIBLE} mischaracterizations of Hobie, Pav, and Peni who (arguably) had just about the same amount of screentime. She also shares traits with every other spider person with being snarky and quick-witted while being completely grounded. She’s literally one of the spider people that Miguel fully trusts but somehow the fandom erases her and goes “He loves Peter B and Lego Spidey🤪🤪”
Like, it’s crazy how people find it so easy to erase Jess and Margo (Spiderbyte) in fanworks for things they easily dismiss from other characters and it’s feelin like misogynoir. Like, Margo and Hobie served the same purpose with deciding to go against Miguel for Miles, yet only Hobie and Gwen gets that credit.
AND THEN THE MANY EXCUSES WHEN IT COMES TO SHIPPING! People keep hating on Jess/Miguel because she’s “obviously pregnant and married” but go right around and ship Miguel with Peter B. Same with Margo/Miles because it’s a bunch of “Miles and Gwen are obviously endgame” ANDDDD???? Since when did every ship HAVE TO be canon in order to be a ship? It’s especially crazy because I BARELY EVER see those comments on Miles/(Peni, Pav, or Hobie) or have no problem with having all the boys huddled around Gwen. The double standard is glaringly obvious.
In conclusion, some of you mfs dont deserve ATSV.

request/fic idea:
reader jokingly puts a bell on miguel o’hara since he approaches so quietly and tends to startle you and the other spider-men. he tolerates your humor for a bit since it increases the work morale
little did he know that the bell will be jingling all night as you fuck him mercilessly
a/n: my mind loves miguel as a cute cat with the little bell on him, but he’s also a good puppy too. hope this was to your likings regardless.
i also turned this into a lil fic, hope ya don’t mind, stranger. >;]
Bottom! Miguel O’Hara x Top! Male Reader
words: 2.7k
warnings: praising, feminization, anal sex, butt plug, smut
The room was dark and slightly cold when you opened your eyes. You were in a bedroom, specifically Miguel’s bedroom, looking down at the other man softly sleeping, wrapped around your arms. It was one of the many shared things you do, alternating between realities of sharing apartments, much less beds. Though you were more so in his than your own due to the man’s unhealthy work balance.
Carefully peeling your arms off, you reached into the dresser of the nightstand, ever so slightly opening it to avoid making loud movements. Reaching in, you pulled out a collar and deliberately grabbed around the little bell to suppress any possible noise.
You quietly moved to lay on top of him, adjusting his head as you tried to slip it under him to correctly put it on. Deep in concentration, you steadily lifted his head careful to-
“What are you doing?”
A mistake, you should’ve used a distraction.
You froze, hearing the man underneath you sigh, opening his eyes. You locked eyes and began an intense stare down, not willing to move a muscle and Miguel solemnly staring hard into your eyes with a tired expression. What felt like passing years to you, as you both refused to break eye contact was only a minute before Miguel clicked in annoyance. Face contorting in slight anger.
“Eres tonto, I’m not a fucking dinosaur, I can see you.” He gritted between his teeth, eyes changing into daggers. Sensing that you couldn’t fool him any longer, you quickly put on the collar around him before he could react fast enough. He grabbed your arms just as you buckled the collar, locking it around his neck. Miguel bared his fangs at you, bringing you closer to his face.
“Tell me right now what this is or I’m throwing you out the damn window.” He hissed. You brought your hands up, ultimately surrendering because he will actually throw you out, he’s done it before when you kept pestering him while he worked. Pushing random buttons and obnoxiously loud chewing, he swiftly picked you up and threw you out an opened window, shutting it closed behind him. You brought gifts and apologized for three days straight before he allowed you near his home again.
“Calm down love, just wanted to surprise ya with a gift” You grinned, reaching out to push the little bell, giggling as it rang leaving a little to be amused expression drawn on the other man’s face.
“Your gift is essentially a cat collar. I’m not wearing it.” He deadpanned, moving to remove it from his neck. You quickly stopped him and jabbed a finger at his chest.
“Hey, this is what you get for sneaking up on me for the past week!” You huffed, giving him an accusatory finger as the other man swept a hand down his face.
“No, I haven’t been. Give me one good example” He sighed, leaning against the bed frame, crossing his arms waiting for your so-called proof.
“Oh, you want an example huh? Let me give several actually.” You said, clearing your throat as you began. Miguel groaned.
“First, I was making dinner two nights ago and you just stood right behind me! No, hi, hey or honey, I’m home!”
“I called for your name and you didn’t respond, so I went to check.” He defended.
“And that gives you the right to give me a heart attack?”
Miguel grumbled and turned his head to the side, mouth frowning. “I ain’t done mister,” you said, grabbing the side of his face to turn back to you. “What about the countless times you scared everyone by spawning out of thin air?”
“I didn’t spawn in, I walked in and if you all couldn’t react to that then get back to training.” He stated, raising a brow. You could feel yourself losing and grabbed your phone off the nightstand, flipping through photo albums, determined to show evidence.
“Look, you photobombed a group picture then disappeared when we checked behind us and reappeared in front!” You exclaimed, showing a photo with you along with a few other spider people posing and a tall dark blue figure standing at your side. The next picture was everyone turning their heads back to look at you, with the last picture being Miguel’s body covering half of the frame while everyone scrambled to leave or falling to the ground — the latter being you.
Miguel let out a chuckle at that before resuming his usual stone face demeanor. You gave him an incredulous look, smushing up his face with your hands.
“You owe me one Miguel and this is an easy way to pay me back, yes?” You smiled, watching the man huff.
“This is unprofessional and you’re only doing this because you find it funny.” He jabbed, moving his hand to feel the collar around his neck, ringing the bell accidentally.
You grinned at the frown on his face, “Maybe I do, maybe I don’t, but are you going to wear it?”
Miguel rolled his eyes and grumbled at the thought of actually going through with it, but after a few kisses and gentle petting, he ultimately agreed to wear it. You cheered and got out of the bed to get ready, excited for what’s to come while Miguel slowly trudged behind you, hand on the collar.
You had to split off from the man once you both arrived at headquarters due to patrolling your own world for any crime activity and helping a group of spider folks with tracking an anomaly. While you were searching for the anomaly, you fell into a conversation with them and they couldn’t help, but stir thoughts about Miguel that you’ve never really considered.
One spider spoke of how hilarious it was that you managed to convince Miguel to wear the collar. You laughed along with that, but the other spider said that if you could get away with putting a collar on him, what else is stopping you from putting him in more get ups. After that you fell quiet, thinking of several more ways the collar could complement.
Miguel always had nice slim hips, perfect to grab and keep steady as you plow him to oblivion. Thighs that were always so firm yet quivered under your touch as he tried helplessly to continue riding your cock after cumming numerous times before.
You could feel yourself heat up at those thoughts, a burning desire to see his delectable thighs wearing something… with lace, a nice matching bra that would drape across his chest. Your mouth starts watering at the idea. The cute little collar bell would still be on him as you fuck him stupid. You could feel yourself get light headed at the thought, but turned out to be a robotic tentacle hitting you, attached to the anomaly, Doctor Octopus in the wrong reality.
Feeling annoyed and frustrated that your daydreaming was so rudely interrupted, you jumped into the now ongoing battle with the other spiders. Determination to quickly capture the man and return back to Miguel with reinvigorated vigor. You were just really horny.
The fight had lasted quite awhile as the Doctor threw several citizens that required you to slow down and rescue, making you even more tense. A few concerns were voiced with your fellow spiders by your “enthusiasm” before silencing their worries as you trapped the mad scientist against a wall with your webs, tentacles incapacitated alongside. Finally glad the fight was over though a coiled knot still burned within you.
The others had decided to take over of putting the Doctor in a trap box while you left to return to Miguel’s apartment. He had sent you a text earlier while you were fighting that he’s continuing his work from home and not totally because he was hiding from Peter, who kept taking several pictures of him.
Slipping through the door, you stalked down into the hall searching for the man. Then you heard it, a soft ring coming from his studio room. You watched as he tinkered with a piece of equipment, lips pouting and face scrunched. He had changed from his suit to a more comfortable set of clothes, a loose tank top and sweatpants. From his side you could see a perky nipple begging to be sucked, coupled with some markings across his chest.
He gave a quick glance up before double taking at your disheveled appearance. You looked like a starved man that just found the most juiciest meal in the desert after a year.
Miguel audibly swallowed and lowered his gaze further down, landing at your cock straining in your pants. He gently set down his device, padding his feet softly on the floor as he walked up. Before he could say anything, you pushed him against the wall and attacked his lips. Bell ringing as you throw yourself against him, grinding onto his hardening dick with your own, groaning at the feeling.
He tried to match your intensity, running his hands through your hair, pulling you deeper into the kiss but turned into a sloppily making out with teeth gnashing as you both continued desperately kissing. You ran your hands across his sides, tracing the muscles down his spine and slipped under the waistband of his pants to grab a handful of his ass, giving it a firm squeeze. A low whine escapes his lips at which you devour, motivating you to draw even more from noises from the man.
Kneading the mound in your hands, you hoisted him in the air, grabbing onto his thighs and making your way into the bedroom. Miguel always had a thing for you display’s of strength, especially when he’s put into a chokehold as you plowed into him or fucked him in the air — both times cumming incredibly quick.
Reaching the bedroom, you shimmied the door open and laid him down on the bed as you began frantically taking off your clothes, not wanting to separate from his body for long. Miguel followed suit and stripped himself of his tank top and sweatpants. Just as he was about to rid himself of his collar, you reached a hand out to stop him.
“Keep it on for me love, want to hear it going crazy while I fuck you.” You purred, Miguel’s face flushed out of embarrassment before nodding.
You were immediately back on him, latching onto one of those delectable nipples while the other toyed with nub, swirling and pulling it around your fingers.
Miguel keened at the feeling and pushed your head closer to his chest, watching as you left dark marks. Switching nipples, you slipped your hand down and wrapped around his leaking cock laid against his stomach. Running a thumb at the top of his cockhead and your fingers following, smearing the precome over his shaft. The pressure of Miguel’s orgasm began to build within him as he rutted desperately into your hand, chasing after the rush.
Miguel could feel himself starting to lose it, breathing stuttering and digging his nails into your head. “Ah- please mi vida, more, need to feel you in me.” He begged pitifully.
Releasing a piece of his meaty chest from your mouth, you met the man’s lust filled eyes, one’s where you could feel yourself pulled in. Then you heard it, the bell that was the center of your desires, thoughts of the man wearing god knows what with it came flooding back to you. Lacy lingerie, a cute cow costume, or maybe a maid wearing a bell. Mouth watering at the thought of fucking him in such outfits spurred you on.
“Of course darling, anything for my good boy who’d do as I say, right?” You cooed, digging into the nightstand for the half empty bottle of lube. Adding a generous amount on your fingers and his fluttering hole, easing one finger in gently.
Miguel closed his eyes at the intrusion, whining from the sensation and spreading his legs more. “Yes, anything for you, please keep going,” he panted.
“So good you’ll wear anything too, yeah?” You said, adding another finger, curling and twisting inside him.
Miguel huffed and visibly made himself relax as you stretched him out, groaning as you slipped a third. “Sí, te necesito en mi por favor” he whined, fucking himself on your fingers to prove a point.
“My baby is so impatient” you chuckled, removing your fingers from his puckering hole and lathered yourself with some lube. Tutting his hips wider for you, teasing him by rubbing the tip at his entrance. “Maybe I should get you a maid costume and teach you some manners.”
Miguel whimpered at your teasing, frustrated by your actions yet intrigued by your words. He never put much interest in wearing anything during your love making, but the implications of what you’d do to him rushed to his dick.
He was about to reply when you made your way inside him, groaning at the tightness and warm heat. Any words that were to be said, gurgled in his throat and a drawled whine emitting instead. You began to slowly thrust into him, peppering his chest with kisses.
“Fuck, you’d look so good in some lace too. Don’t you think, love? You always make anything look good on you baby.” You complimented, kissing and marking the side of his neck. Miguel whined and threw his head back, bell ringing as the force of your thrusts increased.
“Get you a matching collar and fuck you with it on. You’d look beautiful, shit.” You groaned feeling him tighten on your cock as you continued your barrage of compliments.
“You like that baby, my good boy, want to dress up all nice and pretty for me?”
Miguel struggled to formulate a reply, every word on his tongue came out too fast or went higher in pitch, coming out as a moan or whine. From the few things you could pick up from him were lost behind a language barrier, slurring his words and opting for just expressing himself with his body by matching your thrusts with his grinding. He could feel his orgasm building up quickly and wanted to beg you to slow down, but refused to end your onslaught on him. Letting a broken sob as he clamped down, doing his best to be good for you and wait for his orgasm.
Sensing his thighs quivering, and desperate attempt to bring you closer to the edge. You cooed into his ear at how proud you were of him for waiting and you’ll fill his cunt with your cum. “Doing so good for me darling, gonna come in that perky ass of yours.”
Miguel sobbed, mouth hanging open as he tried to plead with you to let him cum, body trembling underneath you. “You can cum baby, fuck, going to come soon” you groaned, chasing after your own orgasm using Miguel’s tight hole. The bell continued its frantic ringing that was drowned out by the sounds of your fast thrusts, hard slaps filling the room. Miguel cried out as he came, splattering over his chest, reaching up to the bottom of his chin.
He collapsed into the bed but still clenched, letting you use him for your own pleasure. You came soon after that, cum gushing into him before leaking around your cock, onto the sheets. The bell’s ringing had come to an end, only softly chiming whenever Miguel moved though the man seemed exhausted to consider doing that.
You slowly pulled out and watched your cum drip out of him, Miguel whined at the feeling of being empty. Moving to the nightstand, you grabbed one of the man’s butt plugs and sealed your cum within him. The man softly groaned before settling back down on the bed. You chuckled at his display and stood to get a warm rag from the bathroom to clean you both, removing the collar from his neck.
After that, you were both too tired to change the sheets and pushed it for your morning version problem instead, nuzzling a tired Miguel on your chest who softly spoke to you. “So, you want to tell me what that was.”
“Believe I said it all love, you’d look amazing in some lingerie. Maybe some costumes here and there as well.” You muttered, combing your fingers in his hair.
Miguel bit his lips, a faint blush dusted his face.
“One time… I’ll wear it for you once.” You grinned at his response.
“You’ve got a deal, love.”

Crush
Genre: fluff
Word count: 6k
Summary: you like peter, he doesn't get it. until you confide in spider-man
i hope you guys like this, i've been really really busy at work but i'm working on my other fic i promise.
You didn’t know Peter Parker was Spider-Man.
To be fair, no one really knew. Tony Stark knew because he knows everything, May knows because she walked in on him in the suit, so did Ned, and MJ found out on her own, because, well, she knows everything. So enter in you, a girl who moved into the city and got into a smart kid school. Almost immediately you befriended MJ, you sat next to her in English and noticed her head stuck in a book. You leaned over into her space, you saw her tense up and smiled at her eyes peeking at you through the corners.
“Hi, I’m Y/N. I’m new here and I want to die in a falling elevator, what about you?”
MJ peered at you and smirked, she stuck out a hand to shake yours.
“Hi, I’m MJ. I’m old here and I’m still trying to decide.”
You two have been friends since.
“No, you’re not getting it Ned! I dare you to ask Betty, that is if she’ll still talk to you.” Peter grinned at his friend and laughed when Ned threw a spork at him. Ned and Betty were in their usual weekly dispute, usually something dumb but slightly significant.
“Are you just mad I have a girlfriend that gets mad at me?” Ned teased back. He did feel like he had the upper hand, being honest he always thought Peter would have all his firsts, well, first. But Ned was collecting the firsts while Peter kept to himself.
Peter scoffed at the assumption, “No way man, If I was a boyfriend I would never pick a fight. I’d be a good boy and listen.” He hummed and shot his eyes to yours, you were already looking at him.
“Right, Y/N?” He shot a wink at you and you froze, was that real? Was he actually talking to you?
Peter Parker is beautiful. You’re not sure when you liked him, actually you think you always have. The second you met him you felt pulled to him, you couldn’t stay away from him. Subconsciously you walked the longer loop around the school to peek at him at his locker, and you always laughed at his jokes, and you made constant eye contact when you weren’t staring at his mouth.
His brown curls laid over his forehead, you remember last week he was talking about getting it cut, and you frowned at him and said ‘absolutely not, if anything you should grow it longer’, you can’t help but notice it hasn’t been cut yet, and he is looking more tempting by the day. Maybe two more weeks and you could have an excuse to run your hand through it, tell him you noticed it was in his eyes and you were just helping.
Even MJ knew, you think Ned and Betty have an inkling. When the four of you were together they loved to talk about Peter, except they would only praise him. He has the ultimate wingmen even if he didn’t know it. And speaking of not knowing, he had no clue you were into him. It’s not like you’ve been straightforward but you also didn’t hide it. You always made flirty comments towards him, and he would usually smile shyly and brush it off.
“How did you think you did on Mr. Tusks test? I think I did fine.” He once asked during a passing period, you made a show of looking him up and down, “Oh trust me, you’re fine.” Peter rolled his eyes and then asked if you had heard about Kayte and Brendon.
“Can you do me a favor?” Peter asked while you and the rest of the group met at his house for a study session before PSATS, looking over at you from his shoulder at the kitchen table. You stepped closer and grabbed his bicep, “Trust me, I’d do anything for you, Peter.” MJ let out a quiet ‘oooh’ and Peter flushed, he cleared his throat and held up some crumpled paper. “Can you throw these away for me, please?”
You wrapped your hand around the paper in his and let your fingers rest against his palm for a moment, you looked in his eyes and pouted. “Aw, that’s all?” He looked at MJ for help, she instead looked at you and smirked with a slight nod to her head. You met her with a similar smirk and walked away to the trash can.
Then that time at the movies you hopped around Ned to steal the spot next to Peter, “Dibs! If anyone is gonna get cuddly with Peter it’s gonna be me.” You pushed Ned’s shoulder to prove your seriousness when his jaw dropped open, he sputtered but then slunk to the seat next to you. Peter joked to ease the tension, “There’s enough of me to go around,” you looked at him and smiled, “but most of you is mine, right?” Peter went to respond but the lights dropped and the trailers started.
You almost thought he made a move, almost.
During the movie he lent into your ear, his warm breath sent goosebumps down your spine. “Hey.” You turned your head and almost stopped breathing, his face was right against yours, if he lent up half an inch your lips would meet. You wondered if this was the moment, all the flirting was for something. “Yeah?” You whispered back, you looked between his eyes and mouth, he caught you looking at his lips and watched you lean in a tad closer. “Can I get a sip of your slushie?”
His grin was highlighted in the blue light of the theater screen. You grumbled and thrust the plastic cup at his chest, “Not how I imagined swapping spit with you in a movie theater, but I guess it will do.” Peter nodded absentmindedly while his attention was on the screen, and you might have maybe, just for a second, thought about punching him in the ribs.
And right now he was asking you if he would be a good boyfriend.
“Are you kidding me Parker? You’re the definition of boyfriend material.” You matched the grin he gave you and he shot a HA! At Ned.
“Told you! And when I finally find a girlfriend I’m gonna be the best boyfriend.” He made a cocky grin at Ned that let him know he won the fight. Your ears were ringing, did he just say? He couldn't have. No way he’s that dumb.
You slap your palms on the table and narrow your eyes at him, “What do you mean find a girlfriend?”
“Oh! You know, when I finally have a chick that’s into me.” He shrugged, so casual. Did he think you were just playing around?
“When you have a chick, into you.” You repeated the words slower and watched him nod his head and take a sip of chocolate milk.
MJ hid her snort under a cough, you turned to look at her, silently saying ‘is he for real right now?’ and MJ gave a look back that said ‘oh i think he is.’
You kissed your teeth, “and tell me Peter, how the fuck would you know when a girl is into you?”
His eyes widened for a second, “Uh, I dunno. I think if she likes me she’ll make it known.”
You laughed dryly, “Or she can make it known and you’re just totally oblivious.”
Peter thought for a moment and hummed, “No, I think I’d know.”
You looked at MJ with a wide mouth.
“Okay. Fuck this, I’m out.” You grabbed your backpack off the table and stomped out the cafetera doors.
“Did I say something to make her mad?” Peter missed the look MJ and Ned shared.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Peter couldn’t help but feel guilty, he didn’t know what he did but he’s almost sure he made you upset. And he would normally never interfere with Spider-Man but he’s the one that saw you tossing pebbles and crushed cans at a brick wall down an alleyway. So he had to make sure you were okay, just doing his civilian duties.
“Fucking stupid, oblivious, what does he want me to do? Fucking show up at his house naked?” You mumbled to yourself and kicked a cardboard box, sending it into the side of a dumpster.
You heard something drop behind you, spinning to the sound you were met with the masked vigilante seen across the city. You had never seen him in person, not even a glimpse when you were walking around. You were starting to believe he was a figment of people's imagination.
You narrowed your eyes, you didn’t know or care why he was there.
“Fuck off, Spider-Man.” You turned to throw another rock at the wall and watch it bounce off, just like all your attempts with Peter. That frustrating prick.
“Bad day?”
He didn’t leave and he just brought a shit storm apun himself.
You spun to face him again, “You have no idea.”
“Tell me about it.” Maybe you would slip why you were pissed at lunch.
You looked him up and down and tapped a finger on your chin, “Do you take hits?”
“Like punches? I mean I try-”
You cut him off, “No. I mean if I tell you to beat someone up would you do it?”
Peter’s eyes widened in the mask, but then collected himself.
“Maybe, it depends why you want them beaten up.”
“Because he deserves pain.” You threw another rock.
“Who’s he?” Peter had a feeling it was himself.
You groaned and rubbed at your eyes, you paused to think of the story and decided to tell the whole thing to make sense.
“Are you like a therapist or something?”
“What do you mean?”
“Like patient doctor confidentiality. I can tell you anything and no one knows?”
Peter thought to himself, he had never viewed himself that way but he sees how some may think of him like that. Just a random guy to dump their shit unto.
“Sure, yeah. I won’t go screaming from the rooftops about your bad day with ‘he’.” He used air quotes around the ‘he’ and smiled when he made you laugh.
“Alright, cool.” You nodded and paused after rubbing the bridge of your nose, then finally looking into the white masked eyes of Spider-Man.
“You brought this on yourself. Okay look, I’m new here right? Moved here from Manhattan, and got into this, like, super smart kid school.” You watched the masked face nod.
“And I met this girl on my first day and she’s super cool and she tells me she’s gonna introduce me to her friends, and I was super excited to make friends, right?” You watched him to make sure he was listening, “And sorry for the next part, if you’re like a thirty year old guy just understand I am a horny teenager and you were once me, okay? Okay.”
“So I met her friends, Ned and Peter. And let me tell you, Peter? Wow! Look, I’ll level with you. I’ve liked dudes before, maybe even kissed a few, who’s to know?” Peter froze for a moment, did you just hint at what he thinks?
“But, Peter? I have literally never wanted to hump someone's face until I saw him.”
Peter coughed then cleared his throat, his cheeks felt on fire.
He knows you’ve always said things to him, he knows it was flirty but he didn’t realize you were being serious, cause he was him, and you were you. Peter never had that aha moment where he realized you were in fact flirting and did like him like that. He now wants to curl in shame because of the way he’s blown you off for so long, he doesn’t know why he thought you were always playing around with him, especially now. Because you only ever told Peter, you wanted Peter.
Peter feels really dumb right now watching a girl he never thought he could pull, in distress because he is in fact, not pulling her.
“I don’t know how to explain it but I felt so pulled to him, I hadn’t known him for twelve seconds and I wanted to know everything about him, you know? And I’ve tried everything, man. I don’t know how much more clear I can get, I mean I flirt with him all the time. Like, all the time. I literally told him I wanted to make out with him at the movies and he was just like… But can I get some of that slushie? I wanted to kill him and then myself.”
You noticed the wide eyes on the mask but held up a hand to continue.
“And today! My god I really thought he got it, get this, the fucker,” You exclaimed the fucker. “This fucker looks at me, dead in the eye and says ‘I’d be a good boyfriend right?’ and I was like ‘Oh my god, yes. You are literally perfection, look at you. So handsome, such baby, I will die if I don’t kiss you.’ And he goes, and I cannot make this shit up, ‘when I finally find a girlfriend I’ll be the best boyfriend.’” You mocked his voice, well not Peter’s, but a general man's voice.
“Oh.” The first response you’ve heard from him yet.
You laughed bitterly. “Oh, I’m not even at the part that made me fly off the wall.”
Peter knows what you’re talking about.
“At this point I just thought he was his normal little dumb self but when he said that? Game over. So I said, ‘how the fuck would you know when a girl is into you?’ just like that too, and he goes,” You paused to laugh again and shake your head, “‘I think if she likes me she’ll make it known.’ How fucking disconnected is he from reality? I wonder what it would be like to be in his head, really. Just a fuckton of open space huh? Anyways, I just told him that maybe she is making it known and he’s just not paying attention and he goes, ‘hmm, nope. I’d think I know.’ I couldn’t take it and just walked out.”
You finished up your rant, “So, in conclusion. Fuck Peter Parker, but also, I want to fuck Peter Parker. It’s hard being 17.”
For the first time Spider-Man was speechless. He didn’t know how to navigate this because he wanted to take your side but also didn’t want to throw Peter under the bus. When he noticed you were waiting for a response he let out a ‘Wow.’
“Well, wow.” He was still trying to find words.
“I know right? I told you, you brought this on yourself.” You sat against the brick wall and pulled a quarter from your pocket running it across your knuckles. Spider-Man moved to sit next to you.
“I know you say you’ve been forward but maybe he thinks you’re joking, or maybe he didn’t see it like that because he thought you wouldn’t like him like that.”
“Babes, you have no idea how much I like him like that.”
“Right. I mean, maybe give it another shot, you never know.” He shrugged his shoulders, who knows? Peter may even ask for a date next time you talk.
“Oh, you think I’m giving up?” You raised an eyebrow at him. “No way, if anything this makes him even more attractive. Who doesn’t like a good chase? I will tell you my next method was just popping up at his place like, you, me, lets fuck, right here, right now.”
“Chasing is only fun if you catch them in the end. And I doubt this Peter kid would ever give into that method, you’d scare the shit out of him.” You sighed and thought about it. “You’re right, he would respect me too much. It’s gross how much I love that.” You watched the quarter roll across your middle knuckle and held it tightly.
You leaned a cheek against the hero’s shoulder.
“Don’t beat up Peter Parker. He’s a sweet boy, just a little unaware.”
“Although, if he doesn’t wake up to smell the bacon next time we talk I’m sending you a smoke signal and his address and I won’t let you leave until I see blood.”
Peter let out a big laugh, “Deal.”
You stood up and brushed off your butt then reached a hand out to help Spider-Man up.
“Thanks for talking me off the ledge. Here’s a tip.” You tossed the quarter in your hand towards the red glove.
Peter nodded and gave a two finger salute, “Just doing my job ma'am, I am the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man after all. I’ll look around for you, I hope I get a Peter update soon.”
You smiled at the hero once more.
“Me too.”
You watched as he took off and started to walk home, not even twenty minutes later a text came through.
hey, sorry if i made you upset at lunch today.
It's fine, I'm sure you’ll make it up to me.
yeah, i’ll show you how sorry i can be.
And hell if your breath didn’t hitch. Did he just flirt with you? There is no way in God’s green earth did he just send a text like that not knowing how you’d take it. Did he finally wake up and smell the roses? Did the behavior at lunch kick in a thinking cell?
Either way, you couldn’t wait for school tomorrow.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Walking in the doors you rubbed the palm of your hand over your cold nose, the temperature was slowly reminding you summer was over and the nips of frost and changing leaf colors proved it. You were excited for fall and winter, you would have friends to go to a halloween party with, maybe even get to wear a couples costume with Peter if it worked out for you. You would trickle into thanksgiving and then have a whole season for cookies, movies and snow fights. A part of you couldn’t help but think about Peter's eyes sparkling in the christmas lights.
Peter’s head darted up at you the second you walked through the door, his teeth nibbling his bottom lip. He wasn’t sure what to say, or if he should say anything. Does he wait for you to say something? Does he walk up and ask you on a date?
Either way you were about to walk past him, you looked preoccupied, in your own world. You were nibbling on your thumb nail, lost in your thoughts about Peter, and the weather, and Peter, and snow, and carving pumpkins with Peter, and the way leaves would crunch under your feet, and then floated to central park and walking hand in hand with Peter, and kissing Peter under a tree, or maybe he’d take you to rockefeller plaza and ask you to be his girlfriend there, and you just know in your heart Peter would always give you extra whipped cream on your hot chocolate.
You were so lost in thinking about Peter you didn’t see Peter.
Not until he jumped in front of you.
“Hey!” He smiled and it made your eyes go hazy.
“Peter.” You let out dreamily, still stuck in daydreams where he was yours.
“Whatcha thinking about?” His grin gave away he knew, but you know he didn’t.
“Would you give me extra whipped cream on hot chocolate?”
“Oh yeah. I’d even throw in some mini marshmallows and a cinnamon stick. Or do you like peppermint more?”
You fawned at his response, he was so gentle it warmed you.
“Would you carve pumpkins with me?” You looked at his locker.
“Why not? Seems fun.” He tapped his fist against your shoulder.
“I would need your help, cause I’m good at getting the guts out but the actual carving part hurts my hand because I have to use so much force. So I could draw a design and you could cut it for me, cause you're way stronger than me.”
“Why are you good at getting the guts out?” He poked a finger at your elbow to get your attention back on his face.
You bit your bottom lip and changed topics.
“Have you ever walked through central park?”
I mean, if Peter thinks about it he’s spent a fair amount of time there, but he’s not roaming around. He’s swinging around or stopping crime or running after someone, so he guesses not. He’s never walked through the park and enjoyed it, he thinks he did it a few times as a kid but he can’t remember the last time he went.
“As a kid, I haven’t been in a while.”
“I think it would be really pretty to walk through it when the leaves all change.”
“I love the feeling of the leaves crunching under my feet.”
“Me too! As a kid I used to build leaf forts and just roll around for hours.” You smiled brightly at the shared feeling.
“We could go sometime, just say when. We could even get the group together.” He winked playfully but dropped the grin when he saw the disappointment flash in your eyes when he added the friends part. You didn’t want a group trip, you wanted a Peter trip.
“Or it could be just a you and me thing, I think I could use some one on one time with you.” Peter retracted his earlier statement. Your eyes lit up at his suggestion, “really? You do?”
“Yeah, of course. I love talking to you.” He smiled and watched you bite your bottom lip as you stared at his.
“Anything fun happen yesterday? I didn’t see you after lunch.” Was he possibly hinting at you talking about him to him? Yes.
“Uh,” You trailed and thought about telling him, scared if you said too much he’d ask details.
“You know, I started to believe Spider-Man was a mass hallucination, turns out he’s a real guy. Kinda cool.”
Peter raised his eyebrows, “You suddenly came to that belief yesterday?”
“Well I mean, you know. He was like, there. And was like, hey.” You gave a general response and shrugged your shoulders.
“He was just there and said hey?” He slowly repeated the words back.
“Hey! He promised he wouldn’t talk about what we discussed and I will promise the same. We had a nice conversation about someone close to me and he gave me a little pep talk.” You defended your stance.
“Like patient doctor confidentiality?” He was having a little fun here.
“Exactly! It was true alleyway therapy. I even gave him a quarter for his troubles.” You crossed your arms and grinned, it was funny how good you felt after talking to him yesterday. Maybe exploding emotions on a third party stranger was good.
“Sounds like you have a crush on Spidey.”
You narrowed your eyes at him, “If he was here right now, and heard that coming from your mouth? He would have a fucking field day, I promise you that.”
Peter raised his eyebrows in coyness.
“From me? Sounds like he knows something, was I maybe the close person you had a conversation about?”
Your cheeks felt warm, you were on the spot. You always hinted at your crush on Peter but you were kind of pussy to outright say it so you hoped he would catch on and ask you out. But now you didn’t know how to react, you had said too much and backed yourself into a corner.
You opened your mouth to play off a response when the bell for first period rang out, you let out a breath of relief and smiled at Peter.
“Saved by the bell.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------
You were begging Spider-Man was out, looking around where he had dropped down yesterday.
Things have progressed with Peter and you promised him an update, it was just about keeping him in the loop. It had nothing to do with getting to fantasize and romanticize you and Peter’s interactions.
Jumping in excitement you saw him standing on the corner of the same building you were hiding behind yesterday, hands on his hips with his head turned the opposite way.
“Spider-Man!” You whisper shouted.
“Hey! Spidey!” You raised your tone some.
“Yo! Spider-boy!” You picked up a pebble and threw it up the building.
Getting his attention the hero looked behind him then pointed at himself with a thumb, “me?” You rolled your eyes, “yes, you. C’mere.” Watching him jump down and land in a squatted pose you couldn’t help but think about how fucked up your ankles would’ve been if you tried it.
“Peter update, bitch. I don’t have another quarter on me, so this will have to be on the house.”
“I kept it.” He handed it back to you and you thought about how if Peter did that you would be putty in your shoes.
“I think he was flirting with me. I think. I don’t know, he’s so coy. I love him.” You sighed and held a hand to your heart.
“And I am so sadistic, I’m using him as a pawn in my sick games. I’m asking him questions that I’ve already answered in my head about him and when he gives me a response it’s better than I imagined.”
“Maybe he was flirting, or trying. Something tells me you make him nervous.”
“Am I intimidating? I don’t want him scared of me, I want to mash my parts with his.” You pouted and thought if you were making him uncomfortable.
“First, gross.” (Not really, he also wants to mash parts.)
“Second, I don’t think you’re intimidating. I just think you are much more forward than him.”
“Oh no. Is that a problem? Do I keep doing what I am, or should I let him do this? Am I over stepping? I’ve never had a boyfriend, is he supposed to pursue me? Have I done everything backwards? Oh god.” You covered your face with your hands and missed Peter's eyes growing wide and his panicked arm movements.
“No, no, no, no. You’re fine, you’re good. It’s good. You can make the first move, totally okay. I just meant you’re expecting him to ask you out any second and I think you need to make it more noticeable rather than joking.”
“Ew! Gross! I will not walk up to that man and tell him I wanna smooch.”
“Oh, C’mon! You basically already have!”
“Nope. Not happening. You’ve helped me make up my mind, I will wait for Peter Parker to make the next move.” You tossed the quarter back to him, “Don’t worry. You’ll see me again.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Woah, wait.” MJ stopped in her tracks and spoke her next words carefully.
“You told Spider-Man about your crush on Peter?” Her voice was smooth and quick, MJ almost felt panicked for you, because you didn’t know what you just did.
“Yeah?” You didn’t get the big deal, not like Spider-Man knew who Peter was anyways.
“What did he say?” MJ was pulling at the thread.
“That I should be more clear, or less intimidating, or something.”
“He said you were intimidating?” MJ narrowed her eyes.
“Well kind of, when I said that he kind of back tracked but-”
MJ cut you off when he locked eyes with Peter coming down the hall towards you, he tilted his head in question, he knew that look and he wasn’t sure why he deserved it. She grabbed Peter’s forearm and tugged him next to her, your eyes went wide. You didn’t need to understand why MJ decided to bring Peter into this conversation, you just needed to end it.
“Peter, do you think Y/N is intimidating?”
His eyes saw your subtle head shake at her, an unvocal way of telling her to shut the fuck up.
“Uh, no. Not at all. Why?”
MJ waited for you to talk but you stayed silent, you would definitely spill if you tried to navigate the conversation.
“Because, the Queens nightly hero thinks she is.” Her tone was bitter, who knew MJ was this defensive over you.
“He said I was too forward, MJ. Drop it.” You pleaded to get out of this alive.
“Too forward, imagine that, Peter. Imagine confiding in someone about a crush and they say you’re too forward.”
You felt your knees hit your ankles, Peter would connect the dots. You told him you had a conversation and MJ just admitted it was about a crush.
You started to dryly laugh, not allowing Peter a chance to answer that.
“Not a crush! Nope! Don’t know where you got that theory.” You darted your eyes around looking for an escape.
“No?” Peter questioned you.
“You know MJ, she lives in her own world. Never said anything about having a crush on someone, definitely not you.”
Peter had to play into this, your turn to squirm.
“Who said I thought you had a crush on me?”
Your heart couldn’t beat any louder than it was at the moment.
“No one did.” You flashed a nervous smile.
“No, I think you just did.”
You breathed heavily out your nose and looked harshly at MJ like ‘wtf? Why did you do this?’
“I just didn’t want you to think I have a crush on you.”
Peter pouted, “Why not? I think it would be cute.”
It was your turn to sputter.
“Cute? It would be cute? Cute how? Cute, that's adorable or cute, let's date?”
You didn’t miss MJ’s look of ‘wow. Subtle much?’
“Depends. Do you have a crush on me?”
“Do you think I have a crush on you?”
Peter hummed and pretended to think.
“Sometimes.” He shrugged his shoulders.
“Only sometimes?”
“I’m confused. Do you want me to think you have a crush on me or not?”
MJ raised her hands and slowly started to back away.
“Depends. How would you react?” You cautioned.
“Probably how you want me to react.”
“And how do I want you to react?”
Peter smiled and leaned in close, you held your breath for a moment. Was he about to kiss you? Is that how you want him to react? Yes.
“You tell me.”
Then he straightened himself and winked as he walked away.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Peter just had to wait for an opening, not that you would take long to give him one. You couldn’t keep it in, it was second nature at this point.
If there was any way he could ask you out casually then you needed to make it a bit clear, as much as you said you wanted it he couldn’t imagine the flip of “he doesn’t notice anything” to “hey, wanna go out?”
Peter was trying to set himself up for one of your comments and you tried your best to keep a poker face but when he said that? Game over.
“I think I have a shot, she totally likes me.”
Was he talking about you? He better be, because if you were walking into his house for the regular Friday movie night and he was talking about another girl you would actually lose it. You had just got there, still waiting for MJ and Ned to show up when he greeted you with his words.
“Who likes you?”
“Kendra! During math she was holding up her highlighters trying to match one to my shirt. It’s pretty obvious right?”
“No.”
“No?”
“No. You can’t be serious.”
“I am! I told you if someone liked me they would make it obvious, and I’m pretty sure she did.”
“Oh fuck you Peter! You’re the actual worst, I sit here all fucking day saying things to you, about literally wanting to be all over you and a girl with a fucking highlighter collection is booted to top of the list?”
“I mean, what am I? Chopped liver? I have been pining after you for months, and all it took was a highlighter? Do you know I wear that green sweater all the time because you said you liked it once, or that I follow you around like a puppy? How about when I flirt with you, or do you even know I’m flirting with you?”
Peter had a shit eating grin that made you even more upset.
“Why are you so happy right now, you’re really pissing me off.”
Peter stalked towards you until you were backed up into the wall, with nowhere to go you felt his chest brush yours, his arms caging you against the wall, your head between both of his hands.
Save for the position, you were excited. This was going to be a new daydream scenario, he had you pinned to the wall. The only way out was through him.
He leant in close, if you just pushed yourself up you could have his lips on yours.
“Because, you finally admitted it.”
You narrowed your gaze at him.
“What is that supp-”
He cut you off.
With his mouth.
On yours.
No matter how many times you dreamed about this exact moment nothing could match the real thing. His lips were soft, his hand cupped your jaw to bring you closer to him. His body leaned in so he was flush against yours, you felt every curve and divot of him blend into yours. You grabbed at the waist of his shirt, begging for him not to leave his position of being on your mouth.
Instead he opened his mouth to deepen the kiss, the feather touch of his tongue on your lower lip sent your head into a spiral, the boy you had been obsessing and pining over the past few months was moving with your movements, you gasped into his mouth and he squeezed a hip with his hand and you in turn pressed your hips into his.
He pulled away and placed a kiss to your jaw, then neck.
“Was that the reaction you wanted?”
Your eyes stayed closed but you nodded, scared if you opened them the illusion would disappear.
“I kissed you with my heart and soul baby girl, can’t a guy get a response?”
You whimpered at the pet name.
Then a knock at the door, the curtain dropped. The other friends were here and it would go back to pretend this didn’t happen for a few hours. The front door was being opened from the outside, you had your head turned to the right to watch it open. Peter still had you pressed into the wall, he placed an arm out to hold the door shut.
“I’m not done yet.”
He leant in for another one, and another.
And another.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“I was beginning to think you forgot about me.”
You did promise Spider-Man an update, but it’s been a busy few months. Christmas was just around the corner and Peter and you have been busy. Between dates and seasonal activities you haven’t had a moment to track down the hero and catch him up to date.
First it was Halloween and you did get your couples costume. (and he helped you carve your pumpkin.)
Then it was Thanksgiving. (and he walked through central park with you.)
And recently you’ve both been busy with present shopping and baking. (and he gives you hot chocolate with extra, extra whipped cream.)
“I know, I’m sorry. I’ve been too busy being a girlfriend.”
“Girlfriend?”
You squealed. “Yes! He totally set me up and I was all like, ‘How do you not know I like you?’ and BAM! He just started kissing me, I was seeing fucking stars.”
“Peter Parker finally smelled the bacon, huh?”
“Yeah. He’s really awesome. I know we were friends before but it’s gotten so much better now he’s my boyfriend, I don’t even know how to describe it. I think it’s because everything I feel for him is reciprocated times ten by him.”
“I think it’s because you love him.”
“Or because we’re mashing parts.”
You laughed at his reaction.
“Gross.” (Not gross. He fucking loves mashing parts.)
“But yeah, I think it’s mostly because we love each other.”
“I’m happy for you, I’m glad I can stop looking for smoke signals now.”
You grinned at the hero and had to fight back the urge for a hug.
“Thanks, if it makes you feel better if I knew who you were under the mask I’d buy you dinner.”
Sirens blaring broke the reunion.
“It’s alright. I have a feeling you’ll know soon.”
“Hm, sure. Have a goodnight, Spidey. I’ll see you around.”
“You too, Y/N.”
Then he swung off, it left a grin on your face.
Until.
‘How did he know my name?’

Hi, sorry but could you recommend any of your favourite Peter Parker fics please?
For sure !!! *cracks open ao3 bookmarks*
Thirty Hours by polaroid15 - Peter doesn't take any breaks during a lengthy fight with the Avengers. The mind-melting fever that follows really should have been expected.
Hurt Peter Parker, my favourite tag <3 I love when Spider-Man is a badass and also lacks self-preservation. He's so cool fighting alongside the Avengers and we get some sweet hurt/comfort irondad!
Fitting In (Tiny Spaces) by aloneintherain - Peter's trapped beneath a collapsed building during a mission, hurt and unable to move. Luckily, his comm still works. Unluckily, the Avengers don’t realise how bad of a state Peter is in, and Peter isn’t inclined to tell them.
This fic is an icon in the fandom and for GOOD REASON. I just can not get enough of Peter Parker hiding his injuries. More heavy whump and angst!
All good things come in threes by Bergen - Peter has three secret identities: Spider-Man, the superhero who swings around the city to save people. Parker Benjamin, who gives Tony Stark unsolicited advice on his research. And NightMonkey, the Instagrammer who keeps uploading increasingly popular but embarrassing drawings of Iron Man.
And he can juggle them all just fine, thankyouverymuch.
Okay here is the fluff!!! Peter is a genius, a menace, and a sweetheart. Tony Stark runs into him (again and again) and can't help but have a soft spot for him every time. Funny and cute and an all 'round good time!
Held Together by Spiderwebs by TunaFishChris - Steve is not coping well in the twenty-first century. At all. Three months after the Chitauri invasion, he decides he's had enough.
But just as he's about to end it all, he runs into the new hero in town.
This one focuses a lot on Steve but I really like him and Peter's relationship in it, and I think this is great Peter Parker characterization. TW for discussions of depression and suicide, it gets a bit dark!
5 Times Spider-Man Saved an Avenger's Ass (and 1 Time They Saved Him) by TunaFishChris - this fic showcases how strong and capable Peter is, he's definitely a BAMF. I really like this genre where the Avengers know Spider-Man but not Peter Parker, makes Peter feel more independent and mature like in the comics.
Five Time Faculty Members Had to Call Peter's Emergency Contact + One Time He Shows Up Anyway, Five Times Tony Stark's Fabled Intern Just Showed Up + One Time He Was Invited, and Five Times Strangers Talked About Peter and Tony + One time Someone They Know Did by kingdomfaraway - I am just gonna recommend this entire series. Super fluffy, extreme irondad and spiderson. They're just adorable from an outside perspective and I love when Peter gets to just be Tony's intern and a teenager for a while :)
research and disaster by blueh - “So, uh, Mr. Stark definitely knows Roomba-Kid,” Becket says and discreetly tilts his head in the direction of the pair.
“Oh my god,” Jess says. She almost sounds gleeful. “Oh my god, he’s not just some random kid. He’s Mr. Stark’s kid.”
or: the interns at Stark Industries have some questions about Peter Parker. The answers aren’t quite what they expect.
I just love intern Peter mk? Let him be a kid genius and have fun!!! Fluffy and humorous, again with the irondad.
Captain, Oh My- Not My Captain! by uncouth_peasant - Peter swallowed hard before firing a web to swing into the fray. “Cap’s going after civilians. I’m out of time.”
Bruised and bloody men <3. Just Peter being a badass and getting beat to a pulp. Cool fighting, lots of Peter whump, and of course the Avengers being protective.
Good publicity by Bergen - Between Peter Parker barely speaking, and Spider-Man being the ultimate chatterbox, how was Tony ever supposed to figure out that they were one and the same person?
Tony Stark is secretly a softie for cute kids, especially when they're a genius and have a sense of humour to rival his own. Peter is a foster kid who ends up finding a home with Pepper and Tony, very sweet.
The Third Option by Uncertainty_Principle - When Ben is murdered Peter goes into foster care. It takes just a tiny taste of superpowers for Peter to decide he doesn’t want to put up with his horrible foster father anymore—the streets are infinitely more appealing. All he wants is to be Spider-Man anyway.
So he leaves, simple.
Simple, that is, until Iron Man needs Spider-Man’s help.
Heavy TW for this one, mind the tags. This is a popular fic and for good reason. A very mature and realistic portrayal of the foster care system and homelessness. The Peter angst is really great and I could barely put it down, that boy needs a hug so bad.
Now here's some hydra!Peter fics cuz they're my jam:
Peter is a precious chickpea by Bergen - They attack the HYDRA safe house shortly before sunrise.
The only people defending said safe house are Peter and Leo, and Leo slams his cell door open and starts spitting out orders, but then promptly gets clobbered over the head and keels sideways.
So that just leaves Peter. And he’s not even going to try to fight a whole team of Avengers. He looks up at Iron Man filling the doorway. “I surrender.”
He’s never been captured before and he’s not sure what to do. Escape, probably.
This entire series is PERFECT. I just love how adorable Peter is, and all the relationships Peter forms with the Avengers absolutely melt my heart. Peter's characterization in this is really unique and I wish there was more. The Bucky and Peter friendship is everythingggg. I love hydra!peter and bucky fics.
Indoctrination by phoenixon - The Avengers thought they were on a typical assignment: Infiltrate the Hydra base and find the weapon. What they didn't expect was the small boy raised by Hydra that they found instead. And they definitely didn't expect him to stay at Avengers Tower or how he somehow wormed his way into their lives. As for Peter, he just wants to be good and obey what the Hydra men told him so he doesn't get in trouble.
I just really love hydra Peter changing into a sweet and intelligent boy once he's rescued and safe, and how all the Avengers take up such heart-warming parental roles around him.
out there, living in the sun by Hailfire_73 - The Avengers rescue Peter from a Hydra base ran by his father, Richard Parker, except Peter doesn't really see it as a rescue, and has trouble settling into a new life away from Hydra and his father at the Avengers compound. OR - Peter learns how to be an actual teenager, live life, and put his abusive past behind him, and Tony learns how to be a father.
Hydra Peter but he's most definitely a traumatized and moody teenager. I really enjoyed Peter's character arc and the exploration of his trauma. It felt more realistic the way his journey isn't just a straight or clear path. He's more mature in this one and it was a really compelling read, balancing the angst with some humour and fluff. Loved the ending.
Tinker, Tailor, Spider by Bergen - Tony is roped into a mission to transport a teenager to safety. But when things go south, it soon becomes more and more puzzling who the teenager is and what ‘safety’ means for him.
I really enjoy that the author doesn't water Peter being hydra down. Yes he is a highly skilled assassin and a badass who's trauma pervades his every thought and decision. Made me fall in love with the Tony, Pepper, Morgan and Peter as a family dynamic. Super domestic while still highlighting Peter's troubled past.

The cancelled Au’s??
Strange title I Know, but it’s the best way to describe this section
-The Day the World Eclipsed (the Original Plot)
-most may know this, but I changed the plot of the Story within the first few chapters. When Wukong left to head to the City, intent on finding a new home for his son… he was originally intended to go through with that.
I have Many MANY chapters of this unfolding- of Wukong actually going through with abandoning MK.
It was farrrr different than what the story has changed to now. And I love the direction the story is now going, but I had a lot of angst planned for the original :)
One day I might even post what originally was intended to happen.

Idk if you’ve answered this anywhere but thoughts on the new ultimate universe?
This is an older ask, but I felt the need to get this off my chest because I just watched a long video that broke down the entire "Paul" situation currently happening in Spider-Man and the conclusion was basically along the lines of "Look, Marvel is compromising and accepting that a ton of readers just are not happy with Spidey as he is and we're going to give you the version of Spidey you want - happily married, has kids, inspiring, etc but in the Ultimate Universe. They're never going to undo One More Day, so they can do their stupid, silly Paul thing but give the readers a version of the character they're going to be happy with. And we should be happy and just read this version because they want Peter endlessly miserable and struggling and we have to accept that this is the way things are now and we can just look on it occasionally while being happy with what we've got." It's a good video, breaks down a lot of stuff, both positive and negative about the run regarding Paul, the creative choices going around with it, etc. And I'm happy that he and a bunch of other people are very happy with this new Ultimate Universe and the new UItimate Spidey. Premise sounds pretty cool and it looks like it's off to a god start. And I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in reading any of it. Because simply put... they're not the characters I was invested in. They're not the ones I was following. They're not the ones who I was following and became attached to. They're not the longterm, main universe that has had its ups and downs, its development and changes for decades and decades - the grand story of these characters, for good and for bad. They are some alternate universe that, like the original Ultimate Universe, could very likely get completely screwed over and then shoved aside in an event comic while keeping a character or two who became popular. That Peter Parker is not the one I want to read. I want to read the Peter Parker that started in 1962 and has been around since then. I want to see him overcome hardships and develop from there. I want him to get better, face some setbacks, but ultimately get through it. I want the deal with Mephisto undone. That is what matters to me. But I can't read that version of Peter Parker anymore because what happened was THAT ruinous for his character. And I'm not interested in someone else's version of him. I want the one that I had made better again. It's like seeing an old friend who you were super close to who made a lot of bad decisions and pushed you out of their life. Some people can't ever forgive them for the bad things they did... but in your case you'd be willing to give them a chance, to reunite with them, become friends again... but they need to change first - they need to get better. And until they do, you're just going to spot them from a distance occasionally and live your own life. Maybe things will get better, but until they do you've got to live your own life... and also not try to chase the thing you had somewhere else. So go read the Ultimate comics if they interest you. I hear they're great. But they're not what I want.

I’m pretty sure I’m late in posting these revelations from Momocon, but:
TOL LUZ SUPREMACY I’VE ALWAYS SAID IT!!! Look at those gangly spider limbs of hers you can’t tell me Luz isn’t a beanpole!!!
Love Amity and Willow being considered, Willow recognition real! Hunter was also indeed a toddler so that can dispel the Huntlow anti arguments… I always knew baseball was important! Not just to King but I bet to Luz too, given her Dominican heritage! AUGH I really wish we got that now…
So Darius DID see the previous GG’s face, but given his close relationship that doesn’t necessarily mean it was public knowledge. Plus there were differences to throw things in doubt, makes me wonder if Darius or anyone else suspect Hunter was the son of the previous GG and got there through nepotism (as would the previous GG, since Belos is Hunter’s uncle). This also gives us some cues on what Darius’ mentor looked like…
Luz initially being more skeptical of the isles makes sense in some ways, but it also makes more sense in others for her to embrace it, especially since it shows what a weirdo at heart she really is. Interesting that it was also in response to Belos’ development, as Luz is meant to be a foil to him and not just a parallel! He’s the system and prejudices that Luz was fleeing and ultimately confronted and refused to let define her. Makes me wonder if Belos wasn’t always a witch hunter in development, but when that happened Luz was changed to incorporate more of a Man VS Society conflict to her arc. I wonder when all this happened in relation to the pitch bible and pilot?
And anime cover Luz she’s just like me fr!!! Weeb Luz confirmed since the first episode haha. Plus TOAST TOAST TOAST!!!

Leon, Gundham, Kazuichi, Kiyotaka and Mondo finding out you're ticklish
Tea Type: Rose Boba
Potential Triggers: N/A
Pairing: Leon/F! Reader, Gundham/F! Reader, Kazuichi/F! Reader, Taka/F! Reader, Mondo/F! Reader
Length: 1k+
Summary: N/A
Leon Kuwata:
He’d find out while nudging you or something; I headcanon Leon as pretty affectionate and touchy-feely so I could definitely see him hugging you from behind and accidentally getting your waist or hips.
He just likes to hear you laugh honestly! Simple as that for him. It’s a bonus if you don’t mind or even enjoy it lol.
He teases very casually and loves the way it flusters you.
“Man, how the Hell did I not know this earlier? Now I’ve got so much missed time to make up on! You better help me out, okay?”
“Aw you’re so much more ticklish than I thought you’d be! Fuck, why is that so cute?”
I also feel like he absolutely uses his goatee and mouth to tickle. I dunno why, maybe it’s cause of all the piercings?
Either way, I totally see him nuzzling your neck at all the wrong times like a jackass and when you whirl to glare at him he steals a kiss as he spiders his fingers up your side.
“I could be a lot meaner if i wanted to. cutie- maybe you should be thankful I’m so kind hm?”
Then he’s off like a shot, as if he didn’t just put you in a mood.
Rough boy who doesn’t mean to be rough when he tickles
It just comes naturally from his strength
Just ask him to lighten his touch up or say it hurts and he’ll quickly lighten up a bit with a sheepish expression.
Gundham Tanaka:
Honestly? I think the Dark Devas of Destruction helped out the poor guy cause there was no way he’d make the first move otherwise.
ABSOLUTE. FUCKING. BABY.
Oh, he plays it off with his lingo, but he’s bright red and barely managing not to hide behind his scarf.
Is this it? The opportunity to finally initiate physical contact with his fellow royal of Hell?
He decides to take the chance.
He hears your laugh as one of the Devas cuddles along your neck or scurries under your shirt playfully and comments on it.
“Ah, so this is the spell you mean to cast, is it? Well, I cannot let your efforts go unaided! Allow me to assist you in this humorous endeavor!”
Begin wrecking.
Surprisingly strong. This isn’t talked about enough imo but man went up against Nekomaru in a metal body and beat him.
He could pin you with ease to wreck you, is what I’m saying.
But contrary to that strength, Gundham is a gentle ler. But it’s a varied gentleness.
So, he’ll always keep his touch light and feathery but occasionally use his nails to scribble at your ribs or dig into your sides.
Kazuichi Souda:
Little gremlin. Only one on this list who finds out from intentionally initiating. Guys a playful ler through and through.
It’s one of his go to methods for bonding actually. …Even if Fuyuhiko decked him in the face when he tried, and Nagito’s luck had him go face first into a tree.
Worth it.
But with you, he tries and is happily surprised. Success! Without him being injured for once! Huzzah!
Such a teasy jerk oh my God. Goes with the classics.
“Coochie coochie coo! Aw, it can’t be that bad, can it? Too bad! I don’t feel like stopping just yet!”
Of course, if you’re genuinely begging. he’ll stop; he’s not a monster.
Hope you like being tickled cause boy is he gonna be a damn pest about it.
The whole class knows and offers their condolences since they’ve been his victims, attempted or successful before.
Getting this out of the way and my system right off the bat.
Tickle machines to your specific preferences because he’s the Ultimate Mechanic.
That is all.
Kiyotaka Ishimaru:
I think Taka finds out totally by accident. He’s probably helping you study for an upcoming test and moves to see the page only to brush over your side.
You flinch, gasp or otherwise let him know he just did something and he frowns in concern.
“You okay? Why’d you jump like that? I didn’t hurt you did I?”
Worried he was over rough in his excitement to see your notes, he lifts your shirt despite your protest and runs his fingers over the area.
When you abruptly burst into laughter at his prodding he relaxes and grins.
“Why didn’t you just tell me you were ticklish? That’s nothing to be ashamed of, and I’ll prove it to you!”
He gently tugs you over to the bed and straddles your waist.
The type to spout off facts completely unironically but it comes off totally teasy and makes everything tickle more.
“See, if I straddle you like this I can attack both your upper and lower body at once! Aren’t such tactics fascinating?”
He demonstrated by squeezing your knee and scribbling along your tummy, shouting over your laughter.
Mondo Owada:
He’ll likely find out when he playfully picks you up. You guys are meeting up to hang out and he surprises you by picking you up from behind under your arm.
Gets confused when you start laughing and squirming so he doesn’t put you down till you say it tickles- then he finally does.
“Aw geez, that’s all it was? I thought you were having a seizure on me for a second there. You must be really ticklish for just me picking you up to getcha huh?”
Most don’t expect Mondo to be a big tickler because of his tough exterior but you know better so you smile nervously and are already backing away before bolting.
You don’t make it very far before he’s tackling you to the ground and digging into your hipbones.
Absolutely uses it under the guise of “endurance training”.
“C'mon I know you can take more than this! We gotta beat your score from last time! I know you can last longer than 10 minutes!!”
The type of ler to go for a death spot immediately and make you scream.
Likes to use his strength for something so fun honestly.
If you try to get him back in front of his friends in the biker gang? He’ll either get flustered or he’ll smirk and wreck you right there.
No in-between.
“Well, you were gonna fuckin’ try and get me in front of my boys-only fair if I do the same, right?"

listening ears
tasm!peter x fem!reader
summary: in which peter is terrible at keeping secrets. and socks.
warnings: idiots to friends to lovers, no angst just pining, arguments, fluff, ahhhh
a/n: heres the link to the playlist. for a real time experience, listen. (this makes it sound like an amusement park which i think is funny)
word count: 10k
the first time you meet him, you're listening to sad music.
it's unclear which song--being that it's late enough that they've begun to blur together, instrumental shifting to piano and soft sullen voices and heartbeats you can't hear but feel--but it rings in your ears as he walks by.
as spider-man is suddenly in front of you, suddenly right in front of your bench, flashing blue and red and ego and playing with some weird white string between his fingers.
you're also fairly certain that he's cursing.
so, quietly, you hit pause on your phone, taking out an earbud. you watch him, hoping that he's already noticed your presence.
hoping that maybe he'll leave and there will be no questioning--from either of you--about what you're doing out this late on a night like this.
the snow on your head has melted, turning your hair several different forms of wet.
and when spider-man has not looked up, or any other place he might be mugged, you, graciously, clear your throat.
alerting him of your presence and beginning an attempt to beg him to leave.
spider-man, unsurprisingly, jumps back.
his white eyes are wide, but that might just be the costume.
you smile and wave.
"wha--" he looks around, behind himself, like you might be waving at someone else. "when did you get there?" he asks.
his voice is quieter than you've heard it before. less animated. maybe a bit rough, or sore.
you tilt your head, lifting a brow. "about an hour ago."
spider-man stares blankly at you. "no."
you contemplate laughing, or maybe tripping him with your leg as he peers closer at you, but ultimately hum. "okay." you drawl, "maybe i didn't."
your smile is soft. your voice is abundantly sweet.
you do not doubt that if spider-man wanted to, he could make both of you disappear in an instant.
not that you're afraid, of course. you've seen the news. and experienced an average day in new york.
spider-man tries again to pull his hands apart. fails.
"sticky?" you ask him, swinging your legs.
you think--but really just know--that spider-man glares at you.
and then, with the subtleness of a child, he leans up again, straightening his back. clears his throat like he's got a lot to say. "what are you doing out so late?"
his voice might be even deeper now, as some method of intimidation.
unfortunately for him, you got over your fear of spiders a couple of months ago.
"i could ask you the same thing," you respond.
spider-man does not find this amusing, apparently, because he just stares at you. waiting and watching.
eventually, maybe just to evade some awkward silence approaching, you sigh and relent. "i was drawing," you say, gesturing to the notebook you set aside.
you don't tell him about the music, or your sore eyes.
or about how when he first showed up you almost fell off the bench.
these are things he probably doesn't need to know, you think.
spider-man must frown or something because he grumbles out his next question. "drawing?" he repeats. "at three in the morning? in the dark?"
"there's a light right there," you point to the streetlight above your head, the picture of innocence.
you continue to smile at this man, if only because he seems to find it immensely irritating.
"aren't you cold?"
"the weather?" you furrow your brows, criticizing him. "c'mon, i thought you were better than that."
"it's snowing."
"i hadn't noticed."
"your paper is getting wet--" he points to your notebook, to the soiled edges.
it's the first thing to make you frown since he's shown up.
"shit," you whisper, brushing some snow and lead off of the paper. "i liked this one."
"sorry." spider-man clears his throat again. he bounces between feet like he's freezing.
"is spandex warm?" you ask him, leaning forward.
"i'm fine."
you frown. "are you always this grumpy? or is it just cause i scared ya?"
"you didn't scare me."
"must be the hands then," you say, leaning over so you can try and see the hands he's kept hidden behind his back.
but spider-man pulls them out--two of them--wiggling his fingers.
you frown. "how'd you do that?"
spider-man doesn't answer. instead, he looks around, probably for someone to rescue him.
unfortunately, everyone else went to bed hours ago.
you grin at him, suddenly and smoothly, holding your notebook out to him. "wanna see?"
spider-man is definitely judging the mess of a journal you have, but he takes it from you anyway, if a bit hesitantly. "whoa--" he says, turning it over. and then he pauses.
he looks back to you.
you smile.
"this is a penis."
you and maturity have never gotten along.
you make an effort to keep a blank face--snickering internally at the dry way he says it--and shake your head. "no," you say, "if you turn it over it's a smile."
spider-man does so.
and surely behind the mask, he's doing a slow blink, probably scowling at you.
"do you like it?" you ask him, keeping your voice soft and sincere.
he hands it back to you, sighing. "you should head home."
"so, no?"
"really," he says, almost gently. "you'll get frostbite. there's a reason no one else is out."
you blink, leaning back. "except you?"
spider-man swings his arms back and forth. he looks away. "except me."
"you can't get frostbite?" you guess.
and spider-man, despite himself, tries to smother a laugh with a cough. but you hear it clearly enough.
you furrow your brows as you peer at him.
and so he points a finger at you, stern. "get packing."
"what if i live on this bench?"
he doesn't laugh this time. he just starts to walk away, eyes still on you. "if you're not gone in five minutes i'm swinging you home."
"you don't know where i live," you say, calling his bluff.
but he turns around, waving nonchalantly.
you watch him, maybe surprised or irritated.
either way, you call after him.
and he spares you a glance.
"maybe i'll draw you next time," you say.
and then he's gone, and you're switching playlists.
*
when peter runs into the bathroom he's not really thinking about germs.
or toilet seats or washing his hands, or, obviously, checking the stalls for anyone else in there.
the fire alarm went off two minutes ago; anyone who remains, peter thinks, is probably not going to connect any dots between him and spider-man.
and when he unzips his backpack, digging his suit out of one of the pockets and cursing as pencils and pens fall onto the ground, he wonders why he didn't iron it this morning.
why he even tried to do laundry yesterday, considering that he's not very good at it and may has definitely noticed.
still, he kicks his shoes off.
the floor isn't wet this time, peter's thinking, so thank god for that.
he swings his jacket off of his shoulders and hurries to unbutton his pants.
there's a gentle buzzing of a fan in the corner, only slightly drowned out by the siren that is giving peter a headache. and flashing lights. and people running by.
and lots of chances to get caught, but not enough care in the world.
and if peter focuses enough, he can hear some type of music playing, somewhere close.
loud bass, quick rhythm.
he almost pauses to think about it, and then decides against it.
he flings his pants onto the floor, folding his shirt over his head.
it is very cold in this bathroom.
still, peter slides his socks off, hating the tiled floors, and internally screaming when one of the socks falls under the stall, disappearing to places that peter does not have time to look in.
and then he's squeezing into a very irritating suit.
trying to remind himself what the greater good is and blah blah blah. . .
but his arms are sore as he tries to zip it up, jumping to reach.
peter is insanely grateful for doors and peace and quiet and advil, of course.
and finally--finally--when he has the suit on, he scrambles to pick up everything he left on the floor while also putting his web-slingers on.
a good effort, really.
he sticks his backpack to the wall, promising himself that he's not going to forget it.
and then he unlocks his stall, beginning to step out when he catches a glance of you.
standing right in front of him, white earbud dangling toward the ground, proud smirk as you hold his sock up.
peter pauses. he stares at you.
you tap an innocent finger on your chin. "aren't you supposed to check the bathroom before you change?"
peter's first move is to try and grab the sock from your hand. but you, swift on your feet, duck away, humming to yourself.
"you're gonna go save a bunch of people with a sock in your hand?" you ask him.
peter thinks for a moment--not about socks, thank god--if you were standing in there when he walked in.
if you had paused when he burst through the door, not thinking about what bathroom this was or any person who might've stuck around. if your eyes were wide and mischievous--as they are now--when he quickly ducked into a stall.
but he knows, really, that you weren't there.
because, peter recognizes, he wouldn't have been able to miss you.
still, you're smirking at him.
"better get out there, spider-man," you say, gesturing towards the door.
and peter doesn't have the time to curse at you because you're right.
he doesn't bother to try and grab his sock again.
and when peter opens the door he can hear it--
your laugh.
and a gentle throbbing of another one bites the dust coming from your headphones.
*
you're trying not to laugh.
really, it's an extreme effort as you store the snort deep inside your chest, trying to melt the smile off of your face.
you are squirming in your seat as your sternum begs for some sort of relief.
and you contemplate leaving the library before this goes too far. before you start cackling in his face, unable to hold back--even if he gives you a weird look and everyone else around you starts complaining.
there's not much you can do to stop it, honestly, not when you've been sitting here, studying, for the last hour, music lulling you almost to sleep. and not when the boy who is now sitting in the cubicle next to you kicked his feet out, revealing some scruffed up converse.
and of course, some mismatched socks.
when you looked down--in a moment of weakness, dropping some type of pencil--you had to do a double take.
not that you can judge this boy, who you've been studying for the last five minutes and his choice of attire. you lose your own socks all of the time.
but there's a grey sock, plain and casual and not unlike your own. and then, just a couple of inches over, there's another sock. this one with a striped, colorful pattern, and words on the other side that you can't really read--for lack of view--but recognize almost immediately.
because, coincidently, you have the same sock in your backpack, awaiting a certain visitor.
and so, as soon as you looked up at this boy, the amusement crowded your not-so-subtle eyes.
he's got brown hair, a frown on his face as he reads a textbook that looks much more than dreadful. his chin is jutted out, his teeth idly munching on the lip between them. a headphone in one ear.
and, of course, this boy doesn't look over. he seems almost unaware of your presence.
and maybe that's what makes this so funny.
being that you've experienced this a couple of times now, and it's getting really hard to not say anything about it.
synchronicities, you know, can only go on for so long.
and this boy--this strange, somewhat attractive boy--is blissfully ignorant.
and you can't believe that he's wearing those socks in public.
you clear your throat, smile unstoppable now.
but he doesn't look over.
and you cover your mouth, shaking your head and turning yourself completely so that when he finally does decide to look over, he will know that you've been staring at him.
he will know that there's no avoiding this interaction.
which, for some strange reason, you're getting immense pleasure out of.
if you listen close enough you can hear the music he's playing.
some melancholy guitar music, completely what you would've assumed from him.
it makes you smile even wider.
you clear your throat again, leaning forward, legs crossed on your chair.
you kind of want to make him jump.
"excuse me," you say, softly. good enough to not draw any attention in this library.
though, your smile might be enough to raise some eyebrows.
the boy looks over, eyes wide and attentive.
you note his face as he takes you in.
"i was just wondering," you continue, innocently, "where you got your socks?"
you have rendered this boy speechless. which you seem to do a lot of.
you cough. "i mean, sock."
he looks down, to his feet, and then to you, seeming to understand. you catch a smudge of panic in his eyes, carefully glazed over as he opens his mouth, trying to say something.
he scratches his neck. blinking, with his mouth open, like he's trying to make sure that you're actually there.
and, to be honest, this is exactly what you imagined of him.
"lose all of your other pairs, too? or do you just like the look of clashing colors?" you blink at him, leaning back.
he takes a deep breath. "i'm sorry?"
"i mean," you shrug, turning back to your desk, "if it were me, i probably wouldn't wear those. especially when someone might have the exact same sock. but, to each their own."
"you--" he awkwardly laughs. "i just, um, found this. in the bathroom."
"was it in a backpack stuck to the wall?" you look back to him--his wide, scared, doe eyes--polite smile on your face.
"actually, i bought them yesterday. they came like this."
"interesting design choice," you respond.
and the boy, who is still staring at you, though not quite as breathless now, ducks down, leaning closer to you. "what do you want?" he whispers, eyes glaring.
"excuse me?" you whisper back.
"i'll--whatever it is, i'll try and get it. just don't--please don't tell anyone."
you frown, resting your head on a hand. "tell anyone what?"
"what you--" he looks around for anyone who might be listening. "what you know."
you tilt your head, questioning, and amused eyes.
"about me," he clarifies, almost hissing.
you lean back, studying him. "we just met," you say, with a hand to your chest.
he glares back.
"i won't spread your questionable fashion choices around the school if that's what you mean."
this boy still doesn't laugh. just like the first time, and the second, he seems to find you distasteful. almost annoying.
and honestly, that might be the only thing fueling this fire in your veins. this want to mess with him until he drops.
"seriously," he says, angry, "what do you want from me?"
"just to know where you bought those."
and then, as quietly and quickly as possible, you bend down to dig into your backpack, smiling in satisfaction as you find it, and then leaning back up, handing it to him.
"i wouldn't leave those around," you whisper. "you never know who might try and copy you."
you are almost threatening him.
the boy glowers. "i don't know what you're talking about."
you shrug, turning away again.
but he grabs your arm. "what?" he demands, again and again.
his eyes are angry, his face is hard and he's leaning away from you like you might reach out and turn him to dust.
but you only smile, asking sweetly "what's your name?"
he stares for a moment, blinking. "what?"
"i think maybe we have met before," you answer. "you seem familiar."
the boy grinds his teeth together.
but you wait, shoving that chuckling down your chest.
"peter," he says, the word mad and tough.
"peter," you repeat, looking away from him. "nice to meet you. i'm y/n."
you reach to shake his hand, and he stares at it like it's poison.
you roll your eyes. "don't worry," you add, softly. "i haven't forgotten. i still have to draw you."
his frown increases.
and you laugh as you turn away, thinking about secrets.
and listening to the music in peter's ears, still drifting over.
*
peter is not really paying attention tonight.
he roamed around all day--because there was nothing else to do--talking to strangers and not having to smile for pictures, just hoping for something to pop up.
and it did, and then it didn't.
when the problems are easy to fix, peter knows, they're less enjoyable.
still, the distraction was nice.
and you are not as you sit on a bench in front of him, smiling.
you've got that look on your face--the one that makes peter want to run away.
especially because you know who he is.
because he's been especially reckless the past couple of weeks, and as a consequence, you have shown up. you have smiled at him, whispering gentle words and even gentler promises.
and you've got a pencil in your hands.
a glint in your eyes that peter's seen somewhere before.
"fancy seeing you here," you say, amused. this is the same bench he passed by on the first night--when he was thinking about going home but didn't.
peter curses his own stupid decisions; the difference that they could've made.
"are you going to threaten me again?" peter asks, not really joking, though his voice gives nothing away.
"i don't know what you're talking about."
you're shrugging, looking away from him as your lips curl at the corners.
and then you look back up. "you never did answer my question about the socks, though."
peter rolls his eyes, though he doesn't miss the way he moves forward, trying to catch a glance at the surely explicit picture you're drawing.
curiosity is a curse.
"aren't you cold?" peter merely repeats.
"it's not snowing. so, no."
peter grunts. "another body part?" he nods toward the picture you're drawing, the thing you've chosen to look at instead of him.
"a foot," you grin up at him, eyebrows raise. "though, if you wanted. . . i could get started on my picture of you."
peter wishes you could see his frown.
still, he takes another step towards you. "how much?"
"hmm?"
"how much are you charging for it?"
peter watches you stifle a laugh, feels the pin-prick of pleasure in his chest. "only a smile," you say, head tilted.
"no thanks, then."
"c'mon, spider-man," you complain. "you're so much nicer to everyone else."
"everyone else hasn't threatened me."
you pout. "i won't tell anyone," you tell him, eyes wide, "if that's what you're worried about."
peter doesn't answer, just stares at you. looking for any tells.
"i mean," you continue, shrugging. "not that anyone would believe me. you've got enough frown lines to put me to shame."
as if to prove your point, peter frowns. "what's that supposed to mean?"
"well, i don't think anyone else has ever heard spider-man so much as grumble. so you. . ." you scrutinize him, nose wrinkled. "you couldn't be him."
peter narrows his eyes.
but you smile again, patting the bench next to you. "sit."
"i can't. i'm working."
you roll your eyes, sighing. "i'm the only one here. wouldn't you be better off watching me? just to make sure i don't do anything."
you smile at him, and it's more vicious than kind.
peter notes your eyes and the secretive glances you're giving him.
you might be right.
so he shrugs and moves to sit down next to you.
he's been closer, anyway.
you flip to another page, looking up at him, then down.
and so it begins.
you hum as you draw him, and peter taps his fingers on the bench, feeling nervous and uncomfortable, and mostly, hating that he's allowed himself to do this.
maybe just to keep in your good graces.
"what classes are you taking?" you ask him after a couple of minutes go by.
"what?"
"last week," you say, head tilting. erasing something on the paper. you've tilted it up on your knees, leaning against the arm of the bench, so peter can't see. "you were studying. that textbook looked horrible."
peter lets his lip perk up.
"what were you studying for?"
"a chemistry midterm."
you look at him, eyes just a bit tired. "you're into science?" you ask, almost doubtful.
peter crosses his arms.
"i mean, no offense or anything--" you smile as you say it. "--but i would've picked you for a music major. or business."
peter understands the implication. he doesn't say anything.
"gym major?" you ask, stealing a glance at his arms, laughing to yourself.
"what about you?" he asks, suddenly leaning forward. "i didn't realize there were classes on how to manipulate someone."
"that's called law," you respond, dryly. "and i'm an art major."
peter is sure you can feel his raised brow.
you roll your eyes, sighing as you relent. "fine. undecided. but i'm figuring it out."
you smile again like you know something he doesn't.
another minute passes, peter listening to the wind and your pencil as you scribble against the page.
"how long is this going to take?" peter asks, looking up, wondering how long he's been here.
"you can't rush art."
"i can when it's annoying me."
you don't look at him, but peter watches as you tense. he almost catches himself--the words he's just spoken and accidentally let out--and decides not to say anything.
maybe you'll forget about it.
"so," you drawl, after thirty seconds of awkward silence. "you're a chemist."
"engineer."
you scoff. "sorry, but that means the same thing to me."
peter snorts back.
"how old are you?" you ask him, brow furrowed as you concentrate.
"i'm not telling you."
you raise a brow, but don't look at him. "why not?"
"you'll just add it to the file."
you don't say anything.
"the file of things you know about me."
there's a quirk on your face, the clearing of your throat. "i was serious," you tell him, again. "i'm not going to tell anyone. i respect your privacy."
peter gives you a dubious look.
"i respect your anonymity," you revise, giving him a grin. "and if you keep moving your face i'm going to mess up your portrait."
"are you actually an artist?" peter asks, "or is this a ploy to get unsuspecting strangers to stop?"
"guess," you say.
"i'm going with the latter."
you shrug, not looking at him. "i've been told worse. but i think you're really going to like this."
peter doubts that, but he doesn't say anything.
and another tens minutes pass--in which you scrutinize everything about the suit he designed, snorting when he argues back--and then you're tearing out a page, smiling at him.
"i mean it," you tell him, "next time i see you i want a smile."
"i could be smiling right now."
you stare at him.
"just give it to me."
you laugh, putting your notebook in the bag next to you. "just don't look until i'm gone, okay?"
"you don't want to watch my reaction?"
"i don't think i need to."
and peter watches as you put everything else away--pencils and erasers and stick of charcoal. he pauses when he finally notices the headphones you tuck into your bag.
"you were listening to something before i got here?"
you just nod, zipping up your bag.
"what?"
you look up at him, eyes daring. "guess," you say.
"kanye?"
you scoff. "please."
"miley cyrus?"
you tilt your head, "i would be more likely to listen to the hannah montana soundtrack."
"metallica?"
you nod, lips pursing. "you got it, spider-man. i'm a metal kinda girl."
peter could've told you that.
but you're smirking before he can respond, pulling the pencil back out, flipping over the paper, and concealing it with your hand so that he can't see.
"there," you say, after forty-five seconds of scribbling. "now it's finished."
you put the pencil away, standing up.
"i'll see you soon," you say to him, nodding. "and that smile."
peter snorts.
and then you're walking away, waving an idle hand goodbye as you turn the corner. peter watches until you're gone, making sure that you're not going to pop back out when he least suspects it, and then he slides over on the bench, finally grabbing the paper.
he flips it over to find a black-and-white picture of himself, every slope and curve of his suit that he recognizes in the mirror.
and he knows, for sure, that you lied to him. or he lied to you.
it wasn't the latter.
still, somewhat amazed, smiling under his mask, his eyes drift down to the words you've written at the corner of the page.
you are a call to motion, it says. there, all of you, a verb in perfect view.
and then another foul "smiley face." peter almost laughs.
when you move, you've written, i move.
and your number at the very bottom, scribbled a bit recklessly.
peter memorizes the numbers before he swings home.
*
you get the first text three days later.
your phone vibrates in your pocket as you're waiting in line at a coffee shop, watching the people around you move with creases in their brows.
your fingers itch for the notebook in your bag.
and when you read the screen, you're a bit confused.
a text from an unknown number, and all it says is:
you lied.
you frown, thinking of who you might've irritated in the past couple of days.
it only takes a couple of seconds to recall the boy who you've messed with the most.
peter and the scowls he's given you.
you smile, knowing what he means.
and then you send him the spotify link to enter sandman.
*
peter rolls his eyes when he gets the message. still, he clicks on the link, plugging his headphones into the jack.
he walks while he listens, wincing at the words.
and when it's finished--when peter officially decides that he's finished with you--he sends back another link.
one to the song you wrote out for him, the song you happened to lie about.
are you flirting with me? he asks, trying not to let himself regret it.
or smile as he sees the little bubble at the bottom of the screen, letting him know that you're still there.
you send an emoji of a spider back and peter's smile fades.
*
you're laughing as you type, you still owe me a smile.
you move up in the line, trying not to stumble over the shoes of the person in front of you, scowling when peter sends you a scowl back.
not literally, of course. but it's been two minutes since he read the text, and he has not answered.
which, you think, is very rude.
is that a no? you type out.
peter merely says: you owe me a song.
so you send him knee socks, by arctic monkeys.
and you forget what to order when you get up to the counter.
*
peter begins to look for you before he walks around any corner.
he's avoided that bench, thinking that if he gets too close, too soon, you will get bored.
that you might've already after you sent him that song and he had nothing good to send you back.
he's been thinking about it for the past couple of days.
while he studies, and showers, goes to class, and swings from building to building, staring down at tiny people and thinking that one of them might be you.
but you haven't shown up. peter thinks maybe you've been hiding out too.
maybe worried because he hasn't texted back.
but then he corrects himself; he can't imagine you worried about anything.
still, he peeks around the corner before he moves, waiting for your cheeky smile and irritating laughter.
instead, he finds a crowd of people that he doesn't know, and who don't know him.
not that you do either.
peter is listening to music as he walks. trying to pretend that there is no correlation between you and this song.
he moves around the people, keeping his eyes low. he says hello to anyone who says anything to him. he smiles at strangers and reminds himself how to be polite.
he thinks about how mean he's been to you, and wonders if it just comes naturally.
and when he gets home, kissing may on the cheek and walking up to his room, happy to finally put down his backpack and all of the books in it, he's still thinking about you.
thinking about the picture he's put on his wall, and your simple handwriting underneath it. neat and smooth, nothing like he'd expected it to be.
he's thinking about you as he gets undressed, sliding on his suit and staring at the socks he's left on the floor.
when you know who's callin' even though the number is blocked. . .
peter shakes his head, kicking them under his bed.
but, right before he leaves, he grabs his phone from his bed, angrily clicking on a playlist.
and then he sends you another link, about a week later.
and he doesn't have it in him to question it.
*
you awake from your nap to a text.
the name at the top of your screen just says "itsy bitsy," because you were a little bit delirious and thought it was hilarious when you put him in your contacts a week and two days ago.
you almost smile at the notification, and then catch yourself.
spider-man, peter, has sent you a link to love grows (where my rosemary goes).
you click on it, smirking as you do so.
and then two minutes and fifty-four seconds later, you finally text him again.
are you busy tomorrow?
*
"you're my muse now," you say to him, pointing to a stool.
you sent peter the directions to an art studio, about three minutes off campus, and told him to come at noon.
it is 12:23 and you haven't stopped smiling at peter since he walked in.
"any song suggestions?" you ask him, wide eyes and tilted head and that devious smile that runs goosebumps up his arms.
peter clears his throat.
"no," he says. "pick whatever,"
you asked him to pose for you. told him that he owed you at least that, if not some laughter.
and peter disagreed, but didn't argue.
and now he's not quite sure why.
you put on some soft guitar music, going to a shelf in the corner of the room to grab something.
"how's my bench?" you ask him as you move back over to him and sit on the ground.
peter frowns. "i don't know."
you pull out a notebook, scoffing. "you're telling me that you haven't checked it once in the past week?"
"nope."
"aren't you supposed to be like the protector of new york city, or whatever?" you blow some hair out of your eyes as you say it.
"that typically applies to people."
"except me," you grumble, under your breath.
peter's lip twitches.
"what are you doing, again?" he asks.
"well, i figured since i drew spider-man, the least i can do is also draw peter."
"you said i was a terrible statue."
"you are," you laugh at him, "but you've got a nice face."
peter pretends not to feel it as he flushes.
"i won't show anyone," you tell him, "if you don't want me to. but it would be nice for my still art class."
"so you are an artist," peter says, attempting to evade your subtle question.
"only in my dreams. i'm also taking algebra, economics, and philosophy 101."
peter frowns.
"i'll declare next year," you tell him, frowning as you erase something.
"as an art major?"
you grin at him, but the peter that's on the paper. "wouldn't you like to know?"
peter doesn't answer that.
he watches you as you draw him, peeking an eye on the side of his face every couple of moments, and smiling when you catch him staring at you.
"what's your last name?" you ask him, breaking the silence.
another song plays, and peter still doesn't recognize it.
"parker."
you snort. "figures."
his brows furrow. "what does that mean?"
"of course, you would have a superhero-ey name."
"what's yours?"
"y/l/n."
peter laughs.
you frown. "what?"
"of course, you would have an annoying-sounding name."
you glare at him, but peter doesn't miss the twitch of your lip. "don't copy me, parker."
"don't make it so easy."
and you don't say anything back, instead choosing to focus down at the paper, but peter notices the little chuckle that falls from your mouth. the silent sneer in your eyes.
"what?" he asks after it doesn't go away.
"i think that was the first time you've actually teased me."
you don't say the rest of it. and peter doesn't acknowledge how comfortable he feels, sitting on this stool as you stare up at him, watching you as you look back.
"you can use it," he says, suddenly.
"what?"
"the picture. for your class."
you don't say anything, but nod in acknowledgment.
and peter feels like an idiot as the silence drifts. feels like he shouldn't have said anything, shouldn't have agreed to this.
and the song changes again, a soft, melodic sound.
peter almost smiles.
"is this opera?" he asks, heavily judging you.
you grin, dropping your notebook on the ground and standing up. you take a step closer to him, leaning in.
"shut your mouth and see," you whisper to him.
peter is almost offended, brows furrowed as he stares at you and how close you are.
but then someone else echoes the words back, and you begin to dance, holding a hand out to invite him to join.
peter does, memorizing the slow movement of your hips as he stands up, feeling like his limbs are heavier than they were only four minutes ago.
and the two of you dance to only angel like no one's watching.
peter listens to you sing the words under your breath.
i must admit i thought i'd like to make you mine.
*
you are humming to yourself when you get the phone call.
when your hand stumbles, pencil creating a harsh line over the drawing you've spent the last twenty minutes hating. you scowl at your hand, and then your phone, for interrupting.
until you see peter's face on the screen.
the picture you took of the picture you drew of him, scowling at you like he seems to do a lot of.
you don't smile, but bite your lip as you press the little green button.
"hello?"
"hey," peter says, voice soft. he clears his throat. "what're you up to?" his voice is suddenly louder like he's using a microphone.
you smile, glad that he can't see it.
"just laughing at this picture of you."
"from last week?"
"yup."
"really?"
you roll your eyes, hoping he can feel it. "no," you drawl. "i was just working on something new. what's up?"
"do you like movies?"
*
after that, peter doesn't have to avoid you.
he doesn't look for you around any corners, because you've already leaned forward, already allowed him to see your smile and guess what you might be thinking about.
"hey," you say to him as you match his stride. "how was class?"
"boring," peter answers, accepting the earbud you hold out to him.
"of course, it was," you grin at him, "i wasn't there."
and peter just barely laughs, feeling a bit light when you smile back, face full of some sort of victory.
you play a song about being cold, and peter completely understands.
*
"i can't believe you got me to agree to this," you say to him as you open the door.
you're wearing a dress. pretty and flowing and completely surprising peter, if his face says anything.
"wow," he says, coughing. then clearing his throat. then coughing again. "it's--you look nice."
you scowl. "i look terrible."
peter just chuckles, looking down again, then at your eyes like he's forgotten something.
you just glare at him, waiting for him to tell you that you don't have to come.
but peter holds his hand out to you. "ready?" he asks.
"no. because i'm not going." you try and close the door in his face.
peter pushes it back, just smiling softly at you.
finally, you understand why he's been so irritated and cruel to you. if your smile is anything like his, then his reaction is completely rational.
"it'll be fine," peter coos, reaching a hand out to comfortingly--and condescendingly--rub your shoulder.
"it's a banquet," you say, just barely getting the words out. "for science."
"it's a party for engineering majors. i invited you a week ago and you didn't say anything--"
"all of your teachers will be there," you correct him, staring daggers. "if there are adults there, then it's not a party. and you made it sound fun."
"we're adults."
"i'm an adult, peter. you are a child. you are childish for tricking me into this."
"tricking you?" peter laughs, eyes gleaming. "i don't remember that part of the conversation."
you, suddenly, smile sweetly at him. "i don't know if you've heard," you whisper, smoothly, "but this is going to be terrible."
he grabs your hand, rolling his eyes. "it'll be boring, maybe, but not terrible. i'll stay with you the whole time."
you frown. then say again, in the same, all-knowing tone, "i don't know if you knew this about me, peter parker, but i'm terrible at boring. or being serious. or talking to people."
"you talk to me just fine--"
"as soon as anyone says anything i'll start laughing. it's a nervous reaction, i can't control it."
"i'll put a hand over your mouth."
"that's a violation of my boundaries."
peter snorts, "look, not that i'm not enjoying this--"
you pinch his arm, shaking your hand out of his.
"--but we're going to be late. we can talk about your chortling on the way there--"
"chortling?!"
"witch cackle, guffaw, whatever," peter corrects.
"you are not making me want to go with you."
"c'mon," peter whines, catching your hand again. "you're my plus one. everyone will think i'm a loser if i show up without you."
"they already think that," you hiss at him, moving back again. "and anyway, i can't walk in these."
you gesture down to the heels you dug out of your closet.
it took you two hours to get ready, simply because you were stressed out enough to absolutely ruin every outfit you put on.
"i'll die, peter," you say, staring at him desperately. "die."
he raises a brow. "you can put on different shoes."
"you're a man." you wave a hand, scoffing at him. "what do you know about fashion?"
peter shakes his head. "okay, if your feet get sore, i'll carry you."
you stare at him blankly. "i highly doubt that, noodle arms."
the smile that appears on your face is one of satisfaction.
but peter rolls his eyes and doesn't bother to correct you.
"look," he says, pulling his phone out. "i brought my phone so we can listen to music. i'll let you pick."
you look away from his eyes to the strand between his fingers. then back to him. "you promise?"
"sure," peter says, almost snorting. "and anyway, i heard that there might be karaoke and you know that--"
as soon as he says the words, you're turning around, grabbing your purse from the table by your door, and locking it. you shut it, reaching for peter's hand.
"alright," you smile, easily. "let's go."
peter laughs as you begin to drag him along.
you sing along to sexy silk while you walk with him, just to keep the smile on his face.
*
"hey," you say to him as you pick up the camera on his desk. "you didn't tell me about this."
peter looks over, noting your frown and the furrow between your brows. he's sitting on your bed while you canvas his room, making fun of everything he's got in there.
not to mention the way you almost died of laughter when you saw your drawing on his wall, telling him that he's a dirty little liar, then smiling a secretive smile at it.
not that peter noticed.
still, he sits up, watching as you click on some button.
"there are lots of things i don't tell you about," he says, smoothly, and smiles at you.
your scowl grows. "you've got a camera?" you ask.
and then, after peter doesn't bother answering that and another moment passes, your jaw drops.
"you've taken pictures of me?" you demand, pointing to a moment he got a week ago, minutes before he met you for lunch.
"that's not you," peter lies, and goes to take it from your hands.
but you pull away.
"when did you do this?"
peter hesitates for a moment, but he sees the look on your face. "last week."
"why didn't i notice?"
peter smiles. "because you are particularly unobservant."
you glare.
". . . and because i was about twenty feet away, and ten minutes early."
"peter," you complain and whine. "why wouldn't you tell me about this?"
"didn't want to steal your thing."
"i don't have a camera."
he shakes his head. "no, art, or something."
"you're lying," you say, peering at him. "that's your lying face."
he holds a hand to his chest, mock offended.
but you don't say anything as you put the camera back on his desk, frowning at the window and avoiding his eyes.
peter watches for a moment, at the pout on your face and how soft and smooth your skin looks.
he thinks about you dancing and almost forgets that you're mad at him.
"hey," he whispers to you, hand reaching out. "i'm sorry i didn't tell you. i didn't realize that you'd want to know."
"of course, i want to know," you mumble. peter thinks you might be saying something else.
"well, now you do."
"i also know about your ninja turtle underwear," you say, with a hint of a smile on your face.
"yeah," peter says, standing up. "and you can hold it against me forever. i won't even complain."
you look over at him, raising your brows. "really?"
"mhmm."
and then you purse your lips, pretending to consider it. "okay, i guess," you say, as a means to forgive him.
and peter is glad about that. glad when you walk over to him, pushing his shoulder.
"but don't do that again," you tell him, almost as a threat.
"do what?"
"keep a secret from me."
peter almost winces, but decides to smile instead. "you already know all of them," he says, simply.
and you smile back.
he doesn't quite let himself believe that it's a lie. doesn't think about you being mad, or what you might do if you found out.
he just sighs, reaching over you to pick up the camera.
"do you want to see more pictures?" he asks you.
and then delights in the eager way you nod back.
*
you are humming along to the song playing from peter's phone as you doodle on the piece of paper in front of you.
you don't know the name, but peter's played it often enough that you know the words.
and, coincidentally, he's laying his head in your lap--claiming a headache--as you play with his hair.
he is almost distracting you as you attempt to draw a pretty little spider on his bedside table.
peter hums back, but it's not to the song.
"what?" you ask him, pausing your hand.
peter reaches up, moving it for you, and you snort.
"okay, okay," you say to him, and scratch his scalp some more.
"are you ruining my table?"
"no more than you already have."
peter groans, but doesn't bother to look up. you know that he knows that you're not drawing anything on it.
you smile down at him, then get back to the tiny sticky note you found in his drawer.
the pen you stole from the dining table downstairs.
you sing to him, to yourself, and minutes pass, and the song changes.
but you picked this one, and peter doesn't complain.
"do you feel any better?" you whisper to him, refraining from calling him a big baby.
"no. keep going," peter grunts.
you scoff but listen.
"look," you tell him, holding the drawing in front of his face. "do you like it?"
"pretty," peter mumbles.
but he doesn't even open his eyes.
so you flick him in the nose, raising a brow. "you didn't even look, you idiot."
"don't be mean to me," peter whines, "i'm in pain."
"you refuse to take any medicine."
"you're close enough," he whispers, and you try not to feel anything at the words.
"just one eye," you say to him, pulling at his skin.
and peter relents, staring at the picture you've drawn for him. "are you trying to be funny?"
it's a spider, sure, but a very hilarious interpretation of it swinging and falling off a building, and then, a couple of feet away, a picture of it being smooshed.
you grin. "i think you should put it on your next suit."
"i'll think about it," peter says, and closes his eyes again.
you laugh at him and hope he can feel it.
sing along to the song until peter falls asleep.
i wouldn't fall for someone i thought couldn't misbehave.
*
when peter wakes up, he's alone.
he wonders when you disappeared and where you went. he aches for the feeling of your hands in his hair and your smile and laughter as he wakes up.
it's dark outside though, so peter's glad that you're at home, at least, hopefully sleeping.
he looks at the clock, frowning at the numbers.
he sits up, head buzzing and blinking until he can see.
and then he walks over to the bathroom, figuring that he should probably brush his teeth.
and when he goes back to his bed, back aching and thinking about you, he notices the sticky note you've put on his wall, right next to the picture you drew of him.
he smiles at it, glad you put it there, where he probably would've put it anyway.
and there's another one, right next to your bed.
you're lame and you fell asleep, it says, don't worry, you didn't drool.
peter smiles, appreciating your handwriting. he puts it on his wall, right next to the other one.
and then he texts you.
when did you leave?
you answer almost immediately: about an hour ago.
it's one in the morning, and peter frowns.
did you walk home alone?
yup!
he scowls, immediately dialing you.
"hello?" you say, singing it.
peter wonders how you have so much energy, but doesn't give himself the time to dwell on it.
"you walked home alone?" he asks again.
"yes, peter."
"in the dark?"
you hum.
he's scowling, wishing you were there so you could see how serious he is. "don't do that," he says.
"peter," you sigh, snorting a bit.
"you shouldn't be walking home by yourself."
"might i remind you that you fell asleep? who else was i going to ask at midnight? may?"
"you could've woken me up."
peter hears you laugh.
"aw," you say, "but, baby, you just looked so peaceful."
peter almost flinches at the words, because you're not being serious and still--
"promise me that you will, next time."
you laugh again. "okay, peter. i'll uber home next time."
"you'll wake me up."
"please," you tell him, "i don't have a death wish."
*
you are frowning as he sits in front of you, but trying not to.
you're trying to keep a calm face and a smooth mind and repair peter without him figuring out a single thing about you.
without getting into another fight with him.
but he knows you, much better than you'd like.
"what?" he whispers to you, the words soft on your cheek.
he's got bruises sprinkled over his abdomen. a bright red cut on his cheek. a black eye and fingers that look more like pens than limbs.
still, you're trying not to be too rough with him.
trying to clean these wounds without opening up any others.
"nothing."
"you're frowning."
"you've got a big cut on your face."
he grabs your hand, stopping your movement as you dab at it. "you're frowning," he repeats, a bit louder.
you sigh and look away. "peter. . ."
"you're mad at me?" he asks, tilting your head back to him.
you're three inches away from him, staring.
and you don't even need to answer, because it takes one look from you, and peter nods.
"okay," he says, turning his cheek so you can clean the cut again.
you do.
and you listen to his breathing, hearing your own heart pound in your ear, staying silent.
there's not much you can say to him without wanting to scream.
"are you going to tell me why?" he asks you, minutes later, when you've had to replace the water so it's not so cold.
you hum. rub some ointment on the wound, apologizing when peter winces.
"y/n," he says, tilting his head. he's smiling at you like it might get you to break.
"you're not taking this seriously," you complain, closing your eyes. you move back, just for peter to move forward.
"hey," he says, grabbing your hand again. his eyes meet yours. "i'm okay."
"you're hurt," you argue, frowning, concern piercing your brows. "you had to come here so i could patch you up."
peter swallows. "i wanted to see you."
"no," you shake your head at him. "you can barely move that arm. you limped in here."
"it'll be fine by tomorrow."
you scoff. "but it's not fine now peter!" you whisper the words, but with enough force that he moves back, his eyes wide and his brow furrowing, as if he's just realized how serious you are.
"you're really mad?"
you shake your head, looking away from him. "i'm scared for you, and i'm mad because you don't even care. every time," you say, "you just brush it off. tell me that it'll be fine."
"because i will," peter swears, trying to catch your eyes.
"but what if you're not?" you ask him, just whispering the words, your voice breaking. "what if you come here," you look back to him, tears evident. "and i can't do anything to help you?"
peter starts to say something, tries to brush the liquid away, but you flinch back.
"no. what if someone else has to move the mask? what if they see you, but you're already--" you stop, not wanting to say the words.
and before you can blink or breathe, peter has wrapped an arm around you, crushing you to his skin.
he apologizes and holds you close, breathing slowly as you try to catch your breath.
he whispers in your ear, rubbing your back.
"i'm sorry," he says, "i didn't realize."
and you know that. and you know that this argument isn't quite fair.
"i promise i'll be careful. i promise, okay?"
you nod against his neck, breathing him in.
and a moment passes, and you try to memorize the feeling of being this close to him.
and then you whisper, "you're my best friend, peter. i don't know what i would do without you."
and it's only partly a lie.
"i know," peter says, moving back so that he can look you in the eye. "i know."
you try and smile at him, and he tries and smiles back.
"okay," you whisper.
and then you notice the small wince on peter's face.
you frown. "what?"
peter looks down to where your stomach has brushed against the cuts on his and clears his throat. "ouch," he says.
you meet his eyes and laugh.
*
peter knocks on your door, waiting.
he hasn't seen you in a couple of days, and you haven't been answering the phone.
he hears someone move around. hears a lurking at the door.
"y/n?" he calls. "i can hear you."
but you don't answer.
so peter knocks again, checking his phone for any sign of you, and staring at the door.
all he gets is a quick "read" message, and then silence.
he sighs.
"c'mon," he calls again. "just open the door, or text me, and i'll leave."
but you do neither.
peter scowls. "i'm not gonna go," he tells you. "i'll be out here until you are, and when i freeze to death you're going to feel really bad."
he might hear a scoff, but the only thing that follows is some silence.
he says your name again, leaning against the door.
and then he scrolls on your phone, sending you another text.
he hears your phone ring on the other side of the door.
and he can hear you sighing because he's just sent you a link to door.
there's a moment that passes, where peter is just a bit proud, and then you open the door.
"that's not even what that song means," you tell him, glowering, but you let him in.
peter just smiles at you.
*
you're drawing him again. laughing as he teases you and listening to a playlist that he's made for the two of you--promising that it was great and that you'd enjoy it very much.
this time, though, it's a bit different.
you haven't asked to draw him since that day when he met you in the studio and finally looked comfortable enough to sit still. you haven't wanted to push that line, again, because you knew that it would be different.
and that last picture of him, well. . .
it's not the same as now. not the same as peter is when he's smiling at you.
when he's singing along to a song that he's chosen and rolling his eyes when you say something, or make fun of him.
it's not the same, you know, because last time, it was merely some strange sort of attraction to him. some want, or need, or crazy, fantasy thing.
but now. god.
now you know peter. now you know what he looks like when he's upset, how he acts when he's scared, or what he cares about, or who he truly is, behind the mask.
now you're in love with him and trying to hide it.
unsuccessfully, you're sure.
"how much longer?" peter asks you, spinning around in your chair as you sit on your bed.
it's also different because he's in your room, messing with your things.
"i've already told you, peter, that you can't rush art."
"you're probably not even drawing me."
you grin down at the paper.
peter continues to sing, continues to flip through an old notebook of drawings.
"you know," you tell him, just glancing up to meet his brown eyes. "i don't like this song very much."
peter raises a brow. "really?"
you nod, pursing your lips.
and so he sings even louder.
"a zero, zero," peter says to you, laughing. "now he's a--"
you throw a pillow at him, smirking.
peter frowns. "that's going to ruin the drawing."
"so is your singing," you tell him. "stay still, peter."
"can i at least see?" he asks.
"not till i'm done."
and then the song changes, and suddenly, you're grinning at him.
just like that first day.
*
as soon as peter hears the opening chords, he's cursing himself for putting this song on the playlist.
for letting himself be manipulated at the thought of your smile, and funny laugh as you danced around to this one the first time. for allowing himself to give in to it.
because your smile is nothing but evil.
and suddenly, you're not drawing, but standing up, biting your lip.
"hey, good lookin'," you croon. moving your hips and your shoulders and smiling at him because you just know. "whatcha got cookin'?"
peter throws his head back and groans.
but you're singing along, dancing around him, and whispering the words in his ear.
"there's soda pop and the dancing's free," you whisper, the goosebumps much more than a physical reaction.
and, really, peter's trying not to smile as he watches you dance. as he watches your smile ebb and flow and listens to your voice, to your accent as--
"--so we can go steady," you gesture at him, smiling sweetly. "how's about saving all your time for me?"
you are a monster, an absolute devil as you pull peter up, as he goes so willingly, and begins to dance with you.
his hands around your waist and yours wrapped around his neck and that goddamn smile.
and your voice, and every single thing that you mean to him.
"c'mon," you say to him, giggling. "dance."
and he does. he can't stop.
then, when the song begins to fade, and you whisper a last "how's about cooking something up with me?" he pulls you down to your bed.
he's almost breathless and laughing at you as you try to squirm away.
he's absolutely gone as you still against him, suddenly realizing where you are.
that he's pulled you so that you're laying right against him. and, peter is three inches away from you, and he can feel your breath against him.
he can see your smile as it almost fades.
as you watch his eyes, but falter, and look down.
down and down and peter's eyes follow.
he's staring at your lips, and he almost doesn't notice it as he leans in, as your breath hitches.
and he kisses you.
finally. finally.
he pulls you as close as he can get you, hand wrapped around your neck, and at the base of your head, and digging into you, and your hands are on his face, they are still and alive as you grip onto him just as tight as he's got you.
as you pull him, push and pull his lips, and breathe into his mouth.
as he finally feels all of you, and thanks god that you're there.
and when he pulls back, almost disassociating, eyes wide, he's staring at you.
he's listening to a song in the background but he doesn't know the words.
he can't think at all, can't breathe with you right there.
"i'm sorry," he whispers, as he suddenly remembers who you are and what you mean to him.
but you--you smile at him. you laugh like you can't believe it.
you look into peter's eyes and you see all of him.
you shake your head, one hand drifting to your lips like you can feel something new.
you laugh again.
"peter," you whisper to him, and he's staring back. "do it again."
if you were a waiting room, i would never see the doctor.
*
more of them.

jaune is spiderman au) in which jaune is everyone's favorite webslinger, going by the name Huntsman (after the huntsman spider) downside he lacks the tech other spidermen have, upside he's already got tons of superstength and durability before he unlocks his aura! however his story is a little different than most spidermen, since everyone around him is a bad ass his grandpa (who's this story's uncle ben) doesn't die. instead when a white fang operative tries to rob him grandpa arc draws a revolver shoots his enemy dead and holsters without breaking stride. people at the scene describe him saying to himself "it's a hell of a thing killing a man" while walking away. take us through the life of a spiderman that the universe doesn't hate
A universe that DOESN'T hate Spider-Man? Oof... Tall order there, friend. But, sure, I'll see what I can do. Before we begin, might I regale you with my research? If not, skip to the read more. When I was playing Shattered Dimension for the PlayStation, there was a bumper in the loading screen explaining that there was a Parker of York Spider-Man who was a knight cursed with the blessings of a spider. I thought to look into this for inspiration, but I came up with bupkis on that. Instead, I found three different inspirations that used the name of Spider Knight. The first is Spyder-Knight from Disney's Ultimate Spider-Man. Not really anything too interesting. Just a knight in Spider-Man armor. Then there's the Prince of Arachne, who was a Peter Parker who worked for the noble Osborn family. He left after Princess Gwendolyn died in his place when Norman Osborn tried to kill him with a chandelier. Peter became knight and served as the Prince of the kingdom, sadly leaving a heartbroken Mary Jane to weep for his return. Then there's the SpiderKnight, who is a fusion of Spider-Man and Moon Knight, which is Peter Parker with D.I.D., including him, the witty voice of The Spider, the serious voice of The Knight, the confident voice of The CEO, and the techy voice of The Science. And then there's SpideyMoon, which... is a thing, apparently? A CANON THING, TOO! Like, apparently, they dated, but it's never brought up again after one mention in one panel? Actually, now that I think about it, I think that was just a joke Spider-Man made. But, yeah, that's what I found. Anyway, here's your Huntsman Spider AU~!

Chapter 1 - Somethin' Sensational~!
There is an old saying, often told to those who begin questioning their lot in life...
"There are those who are born great. There are those who achieve greatness. And there are those who have greatness thrust upon them."
For one such young man, named Jaune Arc, he wasn't quite sure where he fit into these categories. One could argue he was born great as his ancestors were all heroes and imbued upon him the genetics of a great warrior. However, it could also be argued that greatness was thrust upon him when he awoke one morning with unusual abilities that allowed him to sense danger and climb up walls.
The third category, however, Jaune was certain he wouldn't fit into. His chances of "achieving greatness" were slim to none. Even if he'd somehow managed to stumble his way into Beacon Academy, a school for Huntsmen and Huntresses from all over Remnant, he still a poor fit as both a leader and a hero.
That said, he still did what he could to help out anyone he could. Like his grandfather taught him. "If you can do it, then just do it." His work schedule as a midnight superhero was a bit of a mess, but it's not like he could just stand by and do nothing. Especially not when his world was tearing itself apart.
"I'm screwed..." Jaune groaned into his textbook.
"Is that so?" Ren, his roommate, asked as he read from his own book.
"Doctor Oobleck is going to eat me alive tomorrow. I've been so busy dealing with the Torchwick gang that I wasn't paying attention to anything he's said this past week."
"You could always ask for a remedial class." Ren turned the page.
"And when would I have time for that? When you've already graduated while I'm still trying to figure out what color underwear Gura Belladonna wore when the White Fang disbanded?"
"Ghira Belladonna." Ren corrected. "And you don't have to worry about the underwear color. Just the cloak color. Which was..."
"Red?"
"No."
"White?"
"No."
"Green?"
"No."
"I'm screwed, aren't I?"
"Yes."
As Jaune slammed his face into his book again, he scroll suddenly buzzed. It was an emergency alert from the school...
"All students are required to remain away from Vale downtown due to a robbery in progress."
"Ren?" Jaune shut his textbook and ran to the closet. He snagged his backpack, complete with his superhero suit, and ran for the window.
"I'll tell any girls asking about you that you just missed them." Not looking up from his own studying. Jaune's leaving had become something of a routine at this point.
"Yeah, right." Jaune opened the window. "Like any girl would ever ask about me." Leaping out, he ran up the wall to the roof. Easier to change from there.
"3... 2..." A knock came from the door. Ren stood and opened it, finding his best friend and her roommate standing with their own textbooks. "Hello, girls."
"Hi, Ren~!" Nora cheerfully greeted.
"Hello, Ren," Pyrrha also greeted, albeit more demurely, "is Jaune here?"
"You just missed him." Ren said with a smirk.
--------------------------------------------------
"There's trouble downtown."
"Mhm."
"Do you think it's the White Fang?"
"Could be."
"This used to be such a nice city."
"Mhm."
"If only the police would do their jobs."
"..."
--------------------------------------------------
Jaune made his way from the school to downtown as fast as his legs could carry him. It was times like these, which happened every time there was a crime to be stopped, that he wished he'd brought his bike with him to Beacon. At the time, he didn't think he'd leave the academy very often, and even now he argued that it would only make it more obvious who this masked vigilante stepping in to stop crimes that huntsmen were either too busy, or too corrupt, to stop was.
Thankfully, he'd developed a routine by now and figured out the fastest way to downtown was by train. He didn't have a ticket, so he'd have to hitch a ride. Last time he tried to jump on it while the train was still in the station, the conductor's refused to move until he jumped off. For some reason, people didn't trust masked vigilantes when they said, "I'm trying to stop a crime from happening!"
Jaune was now downtown-bound with his eyes on The Gilded Crown, the biggest bank in Vale. Keeping low to the roof he quietly prayed that whoever was tough enough to make such an attempt was also nice enough to give up without a fight. Sadly, they were more the former and less the latter.
The train began to slow and Jaune leapt off the train and made a running start for the building closest to the station; the Vale CCTV News station where Lisa Lavender gave her unbiased view on him. And when Jaune says unbiased, he means that he doesn't like what she says but replies, "to be fair to her", to each of her arguments. After all, The Huntsman Spider is, was, and, for the foreseeable future, will always be a vigilante, not a huntsman or a police officer who work by codes, regulations, rules, laws, and everything else that stops a person from doing the right thing.
An extensive and drawn-out hop, skip, and a jump later, Jaune was watching the scene play out. Police, huntsmen, and huntresses were engaged in a firefight with bank robbers wearing black fedoras, black suits, red ties and red glasses. The Torchwick Gang. Jaune was weighing his options when he spotted someone breaking into the side of the building, through a top floor window.
"Hm," Jaune hummed, "either this vigilante thing is catching on, or there's something else going on here." Looking down to the brave boys and girls in blue and green, he decided they had enough on their plate without him 'getting in their way', as they like to say. "Think it's time I give them a break."
--------------------------------------------------
"So, Ren~?" Nora leaned in, cooing with a sweetness in her voice. "Any idea when Jaune will be back~?"
"I don't think he'll be back until late." Ren answered, not looking up from his textbook.
"Seriously?" Nora gave a long sigh and fell back onto his bed. "Isn't he failing history?"
"He's been studying. I'm sure he'll be fine on tomorrow's exam."
"Well, that may be so," Nora jumped from her back to her knees, "but there's a lot more important things to worry about than studying!" She glanced over to Pyrrha. "Like maybe getting closer to your friends~?" She waggled her brows.
"Nora..." Pyrrha gave a small pout. It was true she held an affection for Jaune, but it wasn't something she needed to focus on. She was attending Beacon to become a huntress, not to find a boyfriend. Getting a date for the weekend wasn't important right now, even if it's something she really wanted.
"Jaune and I are plenty close, Nora." Ren replied, not looking up from his book.
The two girls shared a look.
--------------------------------------------------
The inside of the bank was dark. Torchwick's gang must have shut off the power to make this heist a little easier for them. Jaune looked down from the rafters above as the black-cloaked goons of Vale's most dangerous criminal continued to unload bullet after bullet against the "protectors of the innocent".
Jaune understood it was a hard job to be a police officer and a huntsman. That's what his grandpa used to do, after all. However, according to the man himself, things have gotten way to lax and hard in the wrong places. When he threatened to go to the council, couple of dirty cops pinned Jaune's grandpa with a crime he didn't commit. No charges were pressed, but he was stripped of his badge and had his good name muddied.
From what Jaune had seen, this wasn't the case for all of the police, but still too many to just blindly trust all of them with everything. So he decided to let things play out down below while chasing the shadowy figure moving ahead of him. He kept his distance, following the obvious trail they left. Open doors and open windows practically screamed-
"This way!' Jaune looked down and watched as the goons started running deeper into the bank. Huntsmen and police wouldn't be too far behind. Jaune had to work fast.
Jaune's head throbbed, and his back slammed against the wall by a doorway on instinct. Bullets sprayed from the other side, meaning stealth was no longer an option. Holding up his arms, keeping his target in view, he charged forward as bullets ricocheted off his armor plating. When he got close enough, he ducked low and pushed himself forward into the figure.
That didn't work, though, and he what he jumped into fell away like solid smoke. His head throbbed and he rolled away as soon as he hit the ground, narrowly avoiding the swipe of a blade. As his rolling came to a stop, he watched the figure flee around a corner, beginning the chase again. He was about to indulge when he heard shouting from the other direction.
Following this noise, he found another large room, though this one wasn't riddled with bullets like before. Instead, there a group of hostages, all tied up and gagged, with the largest of them being yanked to his feet by Torchwick's thugs. Jaune could play cat and mouse with his lead, but not when there was somebody in trouble. Jumping down from the second floor, he landed on the balls of his feet and hopped forward. The gang members gave shouts as they aimed their weapons at him. He ran to the side, keeping clear of the hostages, and chased after the running gang members.
They dragged the large hostage down the corridor leading to the back exit. Jaune barreled through and knocked aside any criminal that got in his way. When they got up to try and chase down their assailant, they were captured by the pursuing huntsmen. Jaune made it to the back alley where the hostage was being shoved into a long car. Jaune made for a running jump and landed just as the car was peeling out.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Jaune shouted as the car swerved around, trying to shake him off. For better or worse, Jaune wasn't flying off with his hands sticking to the roof of the car. His head throbbed and he rolled to the side, narrowly avoiding a blade stabbing through the roof. His head throbbed again, instigating him to roll aside once more. By the time the third stab came, he rolled himself into position over the window. Giving a little hop, he smashed through the window, and everything started to slow down around Jaune.
The guy with the blade, shocked at the sudden intrusion, fumbled with his weapon before trying to stab Jaune with it. The thrust was avoided as Jaune slid into the vehicle with both hands now removed from the roof. Curling into himself, Jaune punched one goon while grabbing hold of the blade from the not sharp side. He then kicked the blade goon as Jaune tugged on the blade. One goon pulled his gun on Jaune, but the hostage jumped into him, giving Jaune the chance to avoid being shot and knocking the goon out.
"You okay?" Jaune asked, untying the hostage. "You usually hear about these kinds of things happening on trains."
"Aside from the glass in my suit," the man grumbled, scowling at Jaune as he removed the gag from his mouth, "I'll live." He took the gun and made his way to the front, where he tapped on the glass. The window opened and he shoved the gun through. "Pull over!"
"Whoa, whoa! Careful!" Jaune shouted. "No need to get violent!"
"Really?" The man asked sarcastically. "After kicking the hell out three asses, shoving a gun into a fourth is where you draw the line?" The car slowed to a stop.
"Wouldn't you?" Jaune asked, trying to ease the tension.
Without looking at his savior, the man replied. "You sound just like him." His arm twitched. "And you. Try anything funny and you'll wish you killed me back there."
Jaune, not sensing any danger, exited the limo with the large man. The man took the lead and brought Jaune into an alley where he could escape. Before he left, Jaune and the man had a talk.
"Look, kid, I get that your heart's in the right place," the man said, "but a lot of people got hurt today. If you want to help people, be a huntsman, or a cop. Don't make things worse by putting on a mask and being a hero."
"I have to, though." Jaune said. "If something bad happens and I could have stopped it, then it's no different than if I did the bad thing." Jaune's voice was a bit shaky, since this was a much larger man he was speaking to, but it was the honest truth.
"You really are just like Ghira." The man chuckled.
"You know Ghira Bellafauna?"
"Belladonna, and yeah. I used to work for him before..." Sirens wailing in the distance started getting louder. "You better go kid."
"Sure." Jaune jumped onto the wall and was about to climb up. "Oh, uh, one more question, if you don't mind..."
--------------------------------------------------
"Well done, Mr. Arc!" Doctor Oobleck called as he handed Jaune his test. "...is what I would say if your score were just a little higher. You may have passed the exam, but I expect much better from you in the future. Keep studying and you just might get an actual 'Well done'."
"Er, thanks, Doctor Oobleck." Jaune said, sheepishly taking the exam into his hands.
"Guess you were studying without us, huh, Jaune?" Nora remarked.
"Well, something like that." Jaune chuckled. "Ren and I have been really hitting the books this past week."
"Yeah, well, some things are a lot more important than studying, you know." Nora rolled her eyes.
"Nora..." Pyrrha grumbled.
As Jaune ignored Nora, he felt like someone was staring at him. He looked around, his eyes passing over the classroom until he caught someone looking right at him a few desks away. The girl looked away, keeping her eyes glued to her exam paper. He recognized her, but more as a friend of a friend than an actual friend. Blake, wasn't it?

// a dark tasm!fan fiction // masterlist // send me your thoughts // newspaper headline //
YOU HAD been worried that the ice-cold stare of Harry Osborn would remain stuck in your brain for the entire cab ride back to New York City.
Fortunately, by the time you’d made it to Yonkers, about thirty minutes out from Ravencroft’s facility, the distressing imagery in your head faded as your ears were suddenly blasted with a series of rushed ding-s from your cell phone.
You welcomed the noisy distraction, even if it only further agitated the throbbing headache you felt coming on.
All the messages were from Betty Brant and likely could’ve been summed up in one long message rather than a dozen short ones. And, for the most part, all the texts did were confirm your fears: her search for Peter’s whereabouts had been a fruitless effort.
Well, almost fruitless.
You couldn’t quite give Brant credit for the one lead she’d received given the fact that it had essentially just fallen in her lap, but you still typed back a simple—good job, nonetheless.
While you were off pointlessly torturing yourself behind Ravencroft’s iron gates, a woman had called the Bugle and had the misfortune of being answered by Jameson himself.
According to Brant, the lady asked for you by name, and when Jameson told her you were busy and she’d need to call back later, she turned frantic. He said she sounded as if she were on the verge of tears, begging him to get a message to you ASAP.
Please tell her to stop by my house! Tomorrow afternoon! She knows the address already, I promise! Tell her it’s May Parker, okay? M-A-Y P-A-R-K-E-R!
Of course Jameson knew who the crackpot (his words) was once she said her last name, having spoken to her once or twice during Peter’s limited time at the Bugle.
What he hadn’t told Brant was that it took everything in him to bite his tongue, to not tell the woman every horrible opinion he held in regard to her nephew. Jameson knew that it would do no good. He also knew that it wasn’t her fault that Peter hadn’t shown up to the hospital that night.
Still, he couldn’t help but find himself seething with rage, speaking through gritted teeth until he could finally hang up the phone. He had absolutely no interest in finding Peter Parker, even if he was the only one to ever get a clear shot of Spider-Man.
Good riddance had become his motto when it came to both Peter and Harry. You were one of the few things in this world that mattered more to Jameson than a good lead, which was exactly the reason why he had no interest in Peter’s whereabouts when he first went awol and left the Bugle without notice—he didn’t care. Even if Peter had come back to work, he would’ve just been fired anyway. Jameson had no interest in keeping him around, regardless of the quality of his work.
But despite his hatred for the boy, he knew you were looking for him. While Jameson was unaware of Peter’s secret identity, he knew for certain that Peter had connections to Spider-Man, given that it was the whole reason he had employed him in the first place. You figured there was likely no one in this world that Jameson wanted to keep you from more than Spider-Man. But in what was surely not an easy choice to make, he begrudgingly passed the message from May along to Brant, messily scrawled onto a Doughnuttery napkin that had been stained with chocolate frosting.
He refused to withhold a lead from you.
Of course, when first deciding to track Peter down, you had considered going to his aunt, but she was always meant to be a last-ditch choice. After all, rumor had it that Peter had abandoned her too, moving out shortly after Gwen’s death. You didn’t see a need to add to her grief unless it felt necessary, yet it seemed she wanted you to.
A part of you hoped that the mystery surrounding why May was so adamant about speaking to you would serve as a distraction for the night. You didn’t want to think any more about Ravencroft, and certainly not about the boy they kept locked behind those iron gates.
Deep down, though, you knew that wasn’t possible. Try as you might, there was nothing in this world capable of distracting you from the thoughts of Harry Osborn.
He was a plague, one that you had been fighting off ever since that night; and seeing him in person seemed to have only granted him the opportunity to further sink his claws into you.
You often found yourself reliving the moment you first saw him—the Green Goblin. A monster composed of distended veins and spindly bones, appearing so completely and utterly inhuman—so unlike the boy you knew that you didn’t even recognize him at first. At first, there had just been fear, a sense of pure unbridled terror.
But then, once he spoke, you knew. You knew what he had done, recognized him in spite of the monster the serum had transformed him into. Bile instantly stung at your throat, threatening to spill past your lips and onto the asphalt beneath your feet. You couldn’t stop thinking of how much it had burned, swallowing it down over and over again, as many times as it took before your body finally stopped trying.
You fought so hard against that visceral reaction, the sensible part of you that had seen this new form he’d taken on and screamed at you to run. You wouldn’t let yourself do that. You couldn’t bear the thought of turning your back on your friend, even after seeing what he’d turned himself into.
But then he grabbed Gwen and once she was in his arms you realized that he wasn’t the same anymore. Then once he’d finally let her go, once you’d watched her take her very last breath, you swore you’d always hate him. Harry Osborn was not your friend; it was a simple fact that you still stood behind.
But trauma was a peculiar thing.
Usually when Harry haunted your thoughts, the Green Goblin was always the focal point. Flashes of Gwen’s lifeless body dangling from Spider-Man's web, the sounds of squelching flesh and cracking bones. You would remember the metallic taste that filled your mouth as you looked over at him that last time, just before everything went black.
Tonight, though, you’d found yourself thinking not of the Goblin, but of your friend. The friend that had once been good as dead to you. Memories that had once been shoved aside in favor of sinking into the tragedy you’d experienced, only to be brought back to light after seeing his face today.
You tossed and turned in your bed, your head pounding as thoughts of posh charity events, late-night talks, and inside jokes fought to keep you awake. It wasn’t until the next day when you’d finally arrived at Aunt May’s house that you received a much-needed break from him.
The thick plastic covering on the couch crinkled loudly beneath your weight as you sat down. You used every ounce of effort in your body to try and appear calm as she moved past the coffee table, sitting across from you in a sage green armchair.
It was new.
“I’m so glad you came, y/n.” May offered you her sweetest smile, the gesture accentuating the thin lines around her eyes. She looked older somehow, even though it hadn’t even been a year since you last saw her. “I was worried that bitter man at the newspaper wouldn’t tell you I called.”
You barely stifled your laughter, then immediately wondered if she could tell that even that sliver of emotion was fake. It was second nature to put on an act, especially when it came to work matters. To appear excessively friendly, using it as a tool to quickly build some sort of rapport with someone, hoping it would get them to spill whatever information they might have.
It didn't seem necessary to put up an act around May, but you found it difficult to turn it off.
“Jameson can be a little… testy, at times.”
She immediately snorted at your words, believing them to be a drastic understatement.
“But I’ve gotta say,” you continued, trying to steer the conversation, “I was a bit surprised when he said you called.”
Guilt settled over her soft features, dusty pink lips settling into a thin line as she stared down at her lap, watching the steam rise from her cup. “I know. I meant to call sooner, more often, but I just...” she sucked in a breath, lifting the cup to the edge of her lips, “I didn’t want to make a big fuss of things.”
She was drinking chamomile tea. You knew this because you were offered some as soon as she opened the front door, cheerfully telling you that she’d just boiled a fresh pot of water. While you didn’t consider yourself an expert on May Parker, you couldn’t help but make note of the fact that you’d never seen her enjoy herbal drinks before.
You leaned forward a touch, your elbows resting just above your knees as you did so. “What would you make a fuss over?”
This meeting was different than Ravencroft.
At Ravencroft you were a sheep grazing among lions. Showing weakness would gain you nothing, save for failure and potential death. But in a place like Aunt May’s home, the roles immediately reversed.
Here, you were the lion. And, to gain the trust of sheep, you needed to come off as if you were entirely transparent. Wear your heart on your sleeve, bare every emotion you had, and express as much concern as possible, fooling them into believing that you were truly on their side.
But this time was different, you tried to remind yourself, working diligently to ensure your emotions didn’t come off as fake or exaggerated. You could be genuine. You really were on her side, right?
“Peter’s been...” She hesitated as her wedding ring clinked against the porcelain cup in her hands as she nervously tapped her fingers. She never took it off, even after Ben died. “different.”
Your chest tightened, elbows digging further into your thighs. “What do you mean?”
“He changed after what happened to Gwendolyne.” she began to explain, though she remained hesitant. “It started off small. Quitting the newspaper, refusing to finish his college applications. And maybe that’s when I should’ve stepped in, tried to snap him out of it or something. But after what he’d gone through... what he had lost...”
There was a knowing look in her eyes, a sense of understanding. It was then that it fully clicked for you, realizing that May had been through something similar to what Peter went through. She knew what it was like to have your entire world change in the blink of an eye. “I just hoped that with time it would pass.”
“And it didn’t, did it?” You guessed, painfully aware of the answer.
If it had changed, if he had gotten better, then you wouldn’t be sitting here right now.
May shook her head. “No.” She uttered, her hooded gaze still avoiding yours, remaining fixed on her cup. “It got worse.”
There was something in the way she spoke, the solemn tone you’d never heard her take before, that sent chills running down your spine.
“How so?”
"Little ways, at first.” Her voice broke, clearing her throat before taking another sip of tea. “He started acting out. Getting mean. Rageful.”
Your heart ached for the woman, fighting the urge to reach out and hug her as you watched her hazel eyes turn glossy.
“He was almost never home anymore, and then one day he just... didn’t come back.”
She wiped away the unshed tears, lightly shaking her head and muttering an apology.
“Where is he?” You asked her, instinctively looking towards the old staircase that led to his bedroom.
Years had been wasted in there, sitting cross-legged on his worn-out rug and exchanging complaints about Flash Thompson or Miss. Ritter. On good days, the two of you would build Lego sets and eat your fill of junk food. On bad days you’d both tuck yourselves away in his bed, hidden underneath a stack of blankets as old movies played from his laptop.
It had been a while since you’d let yourself think of those memories, and you hadn’t quite expected it to hurt as much as it did to acknowledge that those days were gone.
“Columbia.” She spoke.
Your eyes widened as your head cocked to the side. “University?”
Warmth spread across your cheeks as embarrassment settled in, feeling a bit silly for speaking the thought aloud. Of course she had meant Columbia University. Still, it shocked you a little when she nodded, confirming your thoughts. Given the way she spoke of Peter’s decline, you hadn’t expected him to be attending college.
“So, you still talk to him?” You quickly followed up with another question, this one less painstakingly dumb than the last.
May scoffed, the loose hair framing her face swaying about as she shook her head. “I don’t know if I’d call it talking. But he checks in on occasion, just often enough to keep me from having a heart attack.”
You glanced down at her cup of tea, willing to reason that maybe Peter had been the reason for her sudden interest in herbal drinks. After all, they were known to reduce stress, and Peter seemed to be causing a great deal of it.
There was another sound of disapproval, a click of her tongue as her voice went low again. “You raise a boy for over ten years,” she started, the smallest spark of anger burning within her, “only to end up getting a postcard in the mail every month.”
“A postcard?” You wondered aloud, likely looking as puzzled as you felt. “You don’t have his phone number?”
She snorted. “I don’t know if he even has a phone anymore.”
For a moment neither of you spoke, and you found yourself studying her features, looking for any sign that she might be lying. You knew that there was no point in it, that May had no reason to lie to you. There would be nothing for her to gain, plus she had reached out to you for help. Still, it was second nature for you to remain apprehensive.
It was hard to believe that Peter had all but completely cut ties with his aunt. May had raised him, practically given her entire life just to ensure that he had everything he could ever need, only to up and abandon her out of the blue—just as he had done to you.
Nothing about it made any sense to you, and the thought alone was enough to fill you with not only rage, but also fear. Was Peter that far gone?
You didn’t want to think about that right now, instead focusing on the sharp pain sneaking up your left side from sitting hunched over for so long. Forcibly relaxing your muscles, you leaned back against the couch cushions, listening to the way the plastic squelched as you shifted.
“Is that why you called?” You finally asked, pressing a hand to your ribs and rubbing over the sore area. “To see if I could help Peter?”
May took another long and thoughtful sip of her tea. Then, once she was finished, she leaned forwards and placed it on the coffee table that stood between you both. “No.” She stated firmly, only for her eyes to narrow and then go back on the declaration, “Not entirely, at least.”
You frowned at her, confused.
“I wanted to call because I realized that you needed someone, too.” You froze instantly, suddenly feeling as if the air had been knocked from your lungs. “I’ve been so caught up with Peter and trying to find a way to help him that I nearly forgot he wasn’t the only one who lost someone.”
May glanced up for perhaps the first time in this whole conversation. You couldn’t help but feel as if the roles had changed, sinking further into the cushion behind you. She took note of everything, your stiff posture, the subtle bouncing of your leg, the timid look in your eye. You had become the sheep, being carefully discerned by the lion.
“I never got a chance to tell you how sorry I was—still am, for your loss, y/n. You didn’t just lose Gwen that night, you lost all three of them.”
Her heedful words landed the final blow, feeling like a piercing knife against your throat.
Suck it up, you kept repeating to yourself, change the subject.
Scrambling to compose yourself, nearly choking on your own tongue, you tried to ignore the look of concern she gave you. You didn’t need sympathy. “I’m managing.” You told her roughly, only able to conjure a barely believable smile. “It could be worse.”
“Sure,” May tentatively agreed, “but it could also be better.”
You decided it was best to not acknowledge her words.
“You said not entirely.” You reminded her, working hard to ensure that your voice didn’t shake. You weren’t sure why it was shaking in the first place, torn between naming anxiety or anger as the culprit. “When I asked if you wanted me to help Peter, that’s what you said. What makes you think I can help him?”
May’s face screwed up, staring at you as if it were obvious. “Because no one else can. The three of you—you, Harry, and Gwen—were the only ones that could ever get through to him.” She paused, considering her next words. “And you’re the only one left.”
There was a weight that settled on your shoulders, shoving you further into the couch. You didn’t like the way that it sounded, for more reasons than one. There was too much responsibility that came with it.
“Columbia’s campus is big.” You told her, void of any emotion. “Do you know where he’s staying? Anything that might help me find him?”
This time it was May’s turn to sink back into her seat, shoulders slouching forward as she turned apologetic. “I know he’s living on campus, but I don’t know which building. Whenever he writes he always keeps the details to a minimum.”
As much as you appreciated any information she offered, it wouldn’t help you much. You had been right in your earlier statement; Columbia was a big school with at least two dozen residence halls. Finding Peter amongst those students was comparable to finding a needle in a haystack.
You knew that you could enlist Betty Brant’s help, but even then, it could take days before one of you happened to find him.
Finally, a bit exasperated, you dared to ask. “Anything else?”
May smiled, weary and filled with regret. “Just be careful, y/n. I’m not sure what Peter had gotten himself into, but I’ve seen the news.” Her hands trembled as she spoke. “I know what they think he did. What Spider-Man might have done.”
She spoke the vigilante’s name like a forbidden word, as if it were one she had sworn she’d never speak aloud, and your eyes grew wide as you just barely breathed out, “You know?”
May’s smile remained despite the somber gleam in her eyes as she told you simply, “No one washes the flag.”
You found the students at Columbia University nauseating.
Most of them were pretentious assholes that stunk of cigarette smoke, not because they actually smoked them, but instead because letting them lazily hang from their fingers matched their desired aesthetic.
They were all desperate to give off the same vibe as a fifteen-year-olds dark academia Pinterest board, leaning against a wall with a copy of Allan Ginsberg’s Howl tucked beneath their arm. You wondered if any of them had ever read it, snorting to yourself when you thought of how they’d likely dogeared a few pages to make the book look worn.
“This place is huge.” Betty Brant marveled from beside you, spinning in a circle as she took in its vastness. When she was done making herself dizzy, she looked at you. “This is gonna be impossible.”
You smiled at her inept observation, challenging her. “Why?”
Her brows snapped together, a single hand incredulously waving around the two of you. “Have you looked around?” She quipped. “There are literally thousands of people here! If we find him today, then it’ll just be dumb luck.”
You didn’t judge her for her innate pessimism. After all, you felt just as overwhelmed as Betty Brant did currently when sitting on Aunt May’s couch, listening as she told you that she had essentially nothing to offer in terms of helping to find Peter. It was easy to assume the worst in a field where you’re so often dealt the shittiest of hands—but Jameson and the other seasoned reporters at the Bugle had taught you well. There was always a way to turn things around.
“Know your target, Brant.” You lightly chastised, a teasing smile that Brant felt looked out of place on you. While she still didn’t know you well, she’d seen you around the office a lot, and she struggled to remember a time when you didn’t have a permanent grimace etched on your face.
Your fingers delved into your bag and reached for a few papers that you’d printed off at the Bugle, just moments before you’d snagged Brant up by her arm without warning and forced her to come with you to Columbia University. You held one of the papers out to her, which she swiftly took and began reading.
"There are only two programs offered at Columbia that Peter would care about: photography or biochemistry.” You explained to her. “I went on their website and got an idea of a mock schedule for both and copied down the names of the buildings they’re in. It’s still not a sure shot-”
“But it gives us somewhere to start.” Brant finished your sentence, her big eyes flickering back up to yours as she lowered the page you’d given her.
You grinned. “Exactly.”
“So, we’re splitting up?”
She was nervous about that idea, clear by the way she started to tug at the edge of her royal blue cardigan. If it were someone other than Brant you might be concerned, but Brant always came off a little antsy, making it easy to brush it off; although it did leave you wondering why the girl stayed so high strung. One day you’d ask her about it, you thought, but not right now.
"It’s better that way. We'll cover more ground.” You told her, your pitiless statement doing little to quell her nerves as she gave another sharp tug to her garment, anxiously looking around at the swarm of students passing around you both.
You did your best to look sympathetic, “Just call me if you need me, alright?” Brant stared back at you, resembling a small child whose mother was dropping them off on their first day of school. It was pitiful, and you nearly groaned as you forced yourself to say, “If you call, I’ll answer. Promise.”
Brant hesitated for a second before nodding, still uneasy but far more willing now to leave your side. As you turned away from her you reminded yourself to never have children, desperately hoping and praying to any God who might listen that Brant would not call you.
As you started to meld into the crowd, falling into step with a group of girls around your age, the thoughts of Brant and her child-like anxiety were replaced with something far more juvenile. You had just barely glanced at the girls walking next to you, at first only giving them a quick glance. Soon, though, as you continued towards your destination, you found yourself fixating on them.
They smelled like cloves and bergamot, probably the scent of some over-priced perfume you’d never even dream of taking off the shelf and their clothes were nicer than anything hanging up in your closet. One had a Tiffany’s necklace dangling around her throat like a collar and another had pin straight platinum hair. In short, they looked expensive. But, at the same time, they looked incredibly beautiful.
It made you hyper aware of yourself, of how different you looked in comparison. You weren’t wearing any nice jewelry, and your hair was messily tied back, making you feel as if you were the opposite of both the girls that had caught your attention. Realizing this, you looked around at the other girls surrounding you, noticing that all of them looked that way. Posh, put-together, and completely and utterly gorgeous.
A strange feeling crept up your spine, one you hadn’t felt since you were in high school. Self-loathing.
There was a time when you prioritized your appearance, or at least more than you do now. You could still remember what it was like to stroll into an Oscorp charity event, dozens of eyes glued to you. Men would watch with bated breath as you passed them, silently dreaming of a day where you’d actually notice them.
That would never happen, of course.
You always went to those events with either Harry or Peter, and they often left you with little reason to acknowledge anyone else in attendance. Even so, you remembered the power you held. Remembered what it was like to feel desired by someone, even if it wasn’t by who you wanted.
After the accident, though, you’d stopped caring about how you looked. It felt so trivial to put any more effort than necessary into your looks, often throwing on the same outfit several days in a row to save time in the mornings. But in this moment, you found yourself feeling differently, insecurity slipping into your mind. Had you let yourself go? Surely not...
It didn’t matter! You suddenly shouted at yourself, fists balling up at your sides as you tried to silence the thoughts that were fueled by foolish insecurity. Despite believing every word of the statement, it didn’t help to make you feel any less self-conscious.
Passing by the mirrored windows of the mess hall, you found yourself slowing down, falling behind the group of girls as you hesitantly turned to catch a glimpse of yourself. You cursed yourself for looking, hating that you even cared about this sort of thing right now. But once you looked into the reflection you froze, realizing that it wasn’t yourself that you saw in the reflection. It was Gwen.
“It’s not that bad!” She would lie to you, her voice jumping several octaves as she did. A hand would reach out, sage green fingernails combing through the frizzy mess that framed your face, trying to flatten it. “It just needs a little...” her head cocked to the side, teeth exposed as she sucked in a breath, “work.”
Gwen was always a terrible liar. She wasn’t like you; she never had been. She was completely incapable of hiding her hand, always living with her cards exposed for the world to see—for them to take advantage of. It was what you’d always admired most about her, her willingness to trust in everyone, to see the good in anyone. It was also what you despised the most about her, and you tried not to dwell on the complexity of that.
“You know what? It doesn’t even matter!” Gwen’s shoulders lifted exponentially, a mess of blonde curls violently swaying as she shook her head about. “You still look hotter than half the girls here, alright?” She grinned at you, the same sweet smile that you missed more than anything. “I promise!”
And she meant it every word of it, but rather than offering you any comfort, the words just filled you with envy. You envied Gwen far more than you liked to admit. You wanted to be like her, even now, to be able to see the good in every situation, to be even half as lovely as she was.
You tried to swallow your guilt, though it only made your stomach hurt. You had promised yourself that you were done envying Gwen.
But you weren’t done missing her.
Still entranced by her doe eyed stare, you felt your phone begin to buzz in your pocket, distracting you enough that you turned your gaze to your bag, instinctively going to dig for the device. By the time you thought to look back up, the vision of her was gone and you were looking at only a reflection of yourself.
You wasted no time in looking away.
When you sobered up enough to read the caller ID, you groaned loud enough to turn a few heads of students passing by. Now, in an interesting turn of events, you wished that Brant was the one calling you, staring down at Director Samson’s name flashing across the screen. You silenced it.
Not today. You started walking again, effectively trading your thoughts of Gwen for ones of Ravencroft and Harry Osborn. Or ever again.
Dodge Hall was the first stop on your list.
You were willing to bet that of the two programs you listed to Brant that Peter likely picked photography, which was precisely why you had delegated the biochemistry labs to Brant.
There was a chance that you were wrong and that he’d decided to major in biochemistry, maybe in some desperate attempt to be like the father he swore he hated, but you held out hope anyway. You wanted to believe that even in whatever odd stage of life Peter was in he was working to forge his own path, rather than following the one he’d once considered his birthright.
Stopping in front of the building that housed most of the University’s photography classes, you grimaced. It significantly lacked character, offering nothing more than a bunch of lifeless bricks with boring cement pillars on either side. You had yet to see anything about this school that made it seem worth the astronomical tuition students paid to attend.
“I know that look-” a high-pitched voice filled the air, the grating sound intensifying your already sour expression, “Dodge might not have the most intricate architecture on campus, but for what it lacks in appearance it makes up for in its rich and extraordinary history!”
You didn't want to turn around, fully recognizing the chirpy she-devil by diction alone. Still, you forced yourself to do it anyway, realizing that there was no possible escape route. “Mary Jane!” The vile taste of her name in your mouth left you feeling queasy, “what’re you doing here?”
No, seriously, what the fuck was she doing here?
A perfectly manicured hand flew to her overly plump lips, packed full of filler and overlined with a red lip pencil. An exaggerated gasp somehow managed to slip past them. “Oh my gosh!” The copper-haired beauty squealed, sounding as if she had inhaled at least a few liters of helium. You forgot how much you hated her voice. “y/n! I didn’t even recognize you!”
“Yeah, it’s been a while.” You droned, likely appearing just as displeased as you sounded. It was difficult for you to sound pleasant around Mary Jane.
Mary Jane had always been a thorn in your side. For the most part she was entirely harmless, but her ever-so-perky attitude always left a bad taste in both your mouth and Gwen’s. On top of that, she lacked morals, made clear by the last time you’d seen her.
It was immediately after Gwen’s funeral, and you’d just happened to find Mary Jane and a few other reporters from the Daily Globe swarming the Stacy family, pining for an interview. It was disgusting, and if you’d been in better shape, you swore that you would’ve knocked her square in the face that day.
Mary Jane reached out and touched your forearm, giving it a firm squeeze. “You look so good!”
You didn’t even bother thanking her, instead deciding to brace yourself for what might be coming next. You had known her long enough to know that all her compliments were a double-edged sword, an insult waiting just around the corner.
“After Genna’s funeral you looked so thin and sickly,” her button nose scrunched up as she looked you up and down, “it’s so nice to see you look far more...” a slight tilt of her head, accompanied by a sickeningly sweet smile as she squeezed your arm again, “plump!”
The smile you gave in return was far less pleasurable than hers, bearing a closer resemblance to a snarl. “Gwen.” You pointedly corrected, choosing to ignore her weak attempt at insulting you. “Her name is Gwen.”
She only waved her hand, dismissing your correction. The simple act made your blood boil, teeth grinding together as you fought to stay silent. You didn’t have time to start a fight with her.
“Ugh, silly me! I’m so bad with names!” She pretended to laugh it off, playing it as an innocent slip of the tongue. You could see the malice behind it, though, her emerald eyes glistening with spite. Mary Jane was a journalist, which meant that remembering facts was quite literally her job. Pretending to forget Gwen’s name was just another idle attempt at getting under your skin.
It worked.
“Did you check out the Globe yesterday?” She started right back up, trapping you in another conversation and preventing you from finding an excuse to slip into Dodge Hall and start your search for Peter. “Who am I kidding! Of course you did!” Mary Jane twirled a strand of red hair around her finger, her egotism on full display as she beamed. “Dozens of newsstands sold out within the hour! Amazing, right? To sell out physical copies in this digital age!”
You only hummed in response, aware that she only wanted to hear herself talk. But God, you hated the way she spoke. Her constant need to enunciate every other word, her squeaky voice filled with false sincerity, always searching for validation in every conversation.
”Bushkin agreed that we only sold out because of my story on the front page! He said my talent for writing could be enough to revive print entirely!” Her chest swelled with pride; hands clasped over her heart as nonsense continued to spew from her.
Barney Bushkin was the publisher for the Globe, which made him Mary Jane’s boss. He also had a reputation for being a sick old pervert with an affinity for girls that were far too young for him. His opinion meant nothing to you since you knew that he would say absolutely anything if he thought it would increase his odds of getting a quick look up one of Mary Jane’s too-short skirts.
”I’m not surprised you sold so many copies,” you egged her on, taking immense pleasure in the way her smug smile grew at what she mistook for praise, “fear mongering has always been a useful tactic for sales.”
For a moment you could’ve sworn you saw her eyes turn as red as her hair, fiery rage coursing through her veins at your comment. But it was gone nearly as soon as it had appeared.
”Well,” she cleared her throat, smoothing the wrinkles out of her white blouse, “I’d hardly call my article fear mongering. I just presented the facts.”
You couldn’t deny that Mary Jane was a pro at composing herself, remaining collected even when you knew she wanted to explode. Image was important to her, meaning she couldn’t ever afford to let her nice girl act falter.
”You called Spider-Man a murderer.”
You didn’t always share her skillset, willing to let yourself come off as brash and plain-spoken.
”And last I checked there’s an active warrant for his arrest.” Mary Jane retorted sharply, the only sign she was willing to give that you were annoying her. “So, like I said, I presented the facts.”
You sucked in a breath, holding back your argument. You wanted to tell her that her facts were skewed, that she was reporting with only one source and effectively trying to demonize a man who had saved the city countless times. But you didn’t. Fighting with her would be a waste of time, and you had better things to do.
"Yeah, well, I should really get going.” You gave a curt smile, nodding in the direction of Dodge Hall. “Always good to see you, MJ.” You took care to place extra emphasis on the nickname, fully aware of just how much she hated it.
Still, she barely let it get to her, hiding her own scowl as you started to edge towards the building. You noticed the way her left eye twitched, though, showing that she was nearing a breaking point. If you had more time, you’d likely try and push her over the edge.
“Why are you here?” Mary Jane suddenly mimicked the question you had first asked her, the one she had never actually gave an answer to.
You paused, only having made it less than a few feet away from her. “Visiting a friend.”
If all went to plan, that wouldn’t technically be a lie.
“Peter?” She blurted his name out in a way that left you feeling strange. There was a hesitant look on her face, almost as if she were afraid that you’d say yes. You didn’t like it.
“Yeah, actually.” You frowned, watching her face drop at the confirmation. “Why?”
She refused to meet your stare, staring past your shoulder at the entrance of the Hall. “He’s not in there.”
In all the years you’d known Mary Jane, you’d never heard her sound so uncharacteristically dispirited. Her perky persona seemed to vanish in thin air, leaving behind someone that was entirely unfamiliar to you.
It was incredibly uncomfortable.
“Wait, do you know where he is?” You asked.
“Of course I do.” She quickly answered, cutting her eyes at you. “But if you’re the one meeting him then shouldn’t you know where he is?”
Jealousy settled in. Why did she know where Peter was? Mary Jane and Peter had never been particularly close, likely due to the lifelong rivalry that you and Gwen had held with her. The idea of him even interacting with Mary Jane left you feeling unsettled.
“Well, we were supposed to meet here.” You lied, turning a tad defensive as you shrugged a shoulder in the direction of the building. “But it’s been a busy morning. He might’ve forgot.”
You paused, debating whether you wanted to continue. There was a good chance that you didn’t want to hear the answer to the question resting on the tip of your tongue, and yet you made yourself ask it anyway. “Were you just with him?”
Please say no-
“Yes.” Her answer came quickly. “We had plans to get dinner but-um,” she suddenly became extremely focused on her own feet, awkwardly kicking at the sidewalk, “he had to... cancel. Said he was gonna be too busy developing photos all night.”
Her too-perfect face screwed up in an unsightly sort of way. You almost thought that you should feel guilty for accidentally making it seem as if Peter had ditched her for you. But you didn’t. Instead, you felt sickly satisfied, taking pleasure in her sorrow. You reveled in it, finding it easier to focus on that than the idea of why she and Peter were going to get dinner together in the first place.
”Mm, that sucks.” You let out a disinterested hum, taking a page from her book as you continued without waiting for a reply, “Is that what he’s doing now? Developing photos?”
Mary Jane gave a stiff nod.
”Great.”
Despite how painful it had been to sit through what felt like a never-ending conversation with her, Mary Jane had ended up being of vital importance. If Peter was developing images today, then that meant he had to be in the darkrooms. And, thanks to your Google research, you knew exactly where they were—Watson Hall, just a brief walk from where you were now.
You wasted no time with stepping around Mary Jane, having no intention of even wasting a goodbye on her as you started towards your destination. But, as you moved around her body, she reached for you, her thin fingers once again wrapping around your forearm. She squeezed harder than last time, your head snapping in her direction, eyes narrowing in a threatening stare as she held you there.
Surprisingly, she gave you a threatening look of her own.
“Before you go,” you found it eerie the way her voice remained syrupy sweet, a sharp contrast to the menacing expression she wore, “I just wanted to tell you how much I adored that little sympathy piece you wrote for your friend in the looney bin.”
You pulled your arm from her grip, your body going tense at the mention of the article you’d written to try and sway the public during Harry’s trial. Jameson hadn’t allowed it to go to print, reminding you that your judgment was still clouded by grief. He didn’t understand why you were so desperate to keep Harry out of Ryker’s Island, but he had hoped that by letting you at least post the article on the Bugle’s website that it would offer you some sort of closure.
It hadn’t. It was shortly after publishing the piece that you had went straight to Harry’s lawyers, giving them all the information they would need to plead insanity.
Mary Jane stepped closer, ignoring your effort to create distance from her. She was close enough that you could nearly feel the heat radiating off her body. You didn’t like it, but you refused to let yourself back away from her.
“I can’t say that Peter agreed.” Her lips curled into a cynical smirk. “I mean, honestly, after the reaction he had to it I’m shocked that he can even stand to be in the same room as you!” The sound of her laughter infuriated you. “I suppose it’s true what they say about time, yeah? That it heals all wounds—even a knife in the back.”
You couldn’t breathe, couldn’t blink, couldn’t think.
All you could do was stare at the devilish woman in front of you, seething with a type of hatred that you were certain could eat you alive. Your nails sunk into the heel of your palm, an effort to refrain yourself from using them to claw that nasty complacent look right off her face.
Mary Jane noticed this and decided to take your silence as a sign of her victory.
“It really was great seeing you, y/n.” She gushed, the false tender statement only fueling your anger. As she turned to walk away, she glanced over her shoulder, winking at you. “Don’t be a stranger.”
One day, you swore to yourself with a particularly loud huff, spinning on your heel and stomping in the direction of the darkrooms, you would kick Mary Jane’s ass.
When you posted the article—the one you hoped would sway the public’s opinion of Harry—you knew Peter would see it. More than that, you knew that he would be adamantly against it.
Unlike you, Harry hadn’t given Peter a reason to care whether he lived or died.
If anything, he had done nothing but give Peter motive to kill Harry himself. You hated that thought. While you didn’t believe that Peter had murdered Sytsevich, you worried that if given the chance he would have killed Harry that night. You wanted to believe that he wouldn’t have been capable of following through with it, though. Just as you weren’t capable of sitting idly by as Harry was sentenced to Ryker’s Island, knowing that he would be as good as dead in there.
Maybe you’d been stupid not to consider that the article was one of the reasons why Peter had never bothered to reach out to you, even once things had settled down. Maybe it was your own fault that he’d abandoned you, that the article had been the final nail in the coffin of your friendship.
Your stomach ached, your mind still reeling as you shoved open the large doors of Watson Hall. A rush of frigid air washed over you, goosebumps erupting against your skin.
Was it possible that Peter hated you as much as he hated Harry?
No. It couldn’t be. What Harry had done was beyond abominable, something that could never be forgiven. You hadn’t done anything nearly as bad as him.
Yet, on the other hand… is the one who comes to a monster's defense just as bad as the monster? You weren’t sure of the answer to that question, though you started to rationalize it to yourself anyway—you weren’t defending him, you just didn’t want to watch him die if there was something you could do to stop it!
But why not? Gwen wasn’t a monster, yet you still watched her die, standing on the sidelines and doing nothing to try and stop it.
There was nothing I could’ve done! Your mind screamed in defense of itself as you approached the staircase leading to the second floor, roughly gripping the rail as you started climbing up.
Why had Peter talked to Mary Jane about the article in the first place? That question was easier to think about than the others, infuriating but still less emotionally taxing, so you let yourself fixate on it. As far as you knew, Peter hadn’t liked Mary Jane any more than you and Gwen did, always keeping his distance from the she-devil.
When did that change?
At the top of the stairs, nestled in a corner of the left, there was a single door with a large black sign hanging off of it. The words DARKROOM IN USE were written in bold letters. You stared at it for a moment, your mind finally going blank as you did.
Peter was behind that door—your best friend, Peter.
Your palms started to sweat as memories started flooding back. Instantly, you bit your cheek, trying to ignore them. Now wasn’t the time for a trip down memory lane, especially not when you could still recall the bloody way that road ends.
A knock echoed through the somewhat barren Hall as your first collided with the door, your nerves growing with every passing millisecond. All you could do was focus on the different feelings fighting to consume you, the thudding of your heart, the slickness of your hands, the churning of your stomach.
“Peter?”
Saying his name felt wrong, but you said it anyway as you knocked again, a bit harder this time. “It’s y/n,” you told him, as if it were even possible for him to forget the sound of your voice, “can I come in?”
Once again you were met with silence.
You considered turning around. Maybe Jameson had been right in thinking that you shouldn’t chase this story. After all, it wasn’t your job to prove Spider-Man's innocence, and if Peter wanted your help, then he knew how to find you. You could call Brant right now and tell her that today was a bust, or even lie and say that Peter didn’t want to help with the story. You could walk away.
But you didn’t let yourself do that, once again feeling that weight of responsibility that May had unintentionally placed on your shoulders. There was no one left in Peter’s corner, no one that would be willing to dig him out of whatever dark hole he’d landed himself in.
You had fought to save Harry’s life, and so it only felt right that you tried to do the same for Peter.
Without bothering to knock again, you reached for the knob and twisted, hastily slipping inside the room, trying to limit the amount of light the leaked in behind you. You didn’t know a lot about developing photos, but you’d never forgotten the way Peter would groan whenever you’d come in unannounced, accidentally letting the light ruin his work.
The door clicked shut behind you as you looked around. It wasn’t a big room, just large enough for two or three people to comfortably fit inside. Any more than that, though, and they’d likely be bumping elbows the entire time. There was a table in the center of it, lined with tubs holding various chemicals that you’d never learned the names of. A clothesline hung around the perimeter of the room, a few newly developed photos lazily dangling from it. On the far wall there were two desks, various images and tools scattered across them.
Everything in the room looked sinister, courtesy of the red tinted light that hung overhead.
”Fucking creepy.” You muttered to yourself, crossing your arms over your chest as a chill inched down your back. This room felt significantly colder than the rest of Watson Hall, only adding to its unsettling vibe.
The darkroom was empty, despite the sign on the door saying it was in use. The realization nearly made you breathe a sigh of relief, a part of you finding comfort in the thought that you wouldn’t actually have to confront Peter right now. But as you stepped further into the room and towards the twin desks, all your newfound relief dissipated.
Resting against the leg of the desk was a fluorescent yellow bookbag, decorated with a variety of cheap pins ranging from local bands to images of outdated memes. You remembered the first time you ever saw that bag, lying on the floor of Peter’s bedroom just a week or so before the start of Junior year. He threw a fit when Aunt May had come in, tossing the ugly bag on his bed and raving about how she had gotten it on sale just in time for back-to-school.
You made fun of him for months, always making note of the way its vibrancy clashed with his darker style. Secretly you had loved that bag, silently appreciative for how easy it made it to find Peter in the crowded halls of Midtown High. He would always beg Aunt May to get a different bag, but she refused, saying that they shouldn’t buy another until he had worn the yellow one out.
Looking at it now, it seemed that he had finally achieved that goal. The yellow fabric was a touch duller now, though not by much, and there was a noticeable tear in the seam of the front pocket. Kneeling beside it, you traced your finger over a trail of blue thread, having been carefully used to stitch the fabric back together.
You wondered why he had decided to fix it instead of just replacing it like he had always wanted.
Straightening back up, you scanned over the rest of the desk. There was a black reusable water bottle perched on the edge, a set of keys attached to a Deftones lanyard lying beside it. A bit of sweat trickled down the edge of the bottle, collecting on the surface of the desk. You reached for it, shifting it just enough to hear ice knocking against the metal walls. It had barely melted, meaning that it hadn’t been long since Peter had gotten here. Still, you had no clue where he was now.
Closer to the center of the desk was a neat stack of already developed photos. A girl graced the top of the stack—pale skin with bleach blonde hair, neatly pushed back by a black headband. You reached for it without hesitation, a single digit tracing along her grinning face.
Peter took pictures of a lot of people, you included, but it was undeniable that Gwen had always been his favorite subject. Looking at this photo, you couldn’t help but understand why. She was effortlessly beautiful, capable of taking your breath away without even trying.
You could never blame Peter for always trying to capture that beauty, fully aware that if you were him, she would’ve been your favorite too.
Without much thought you decided to slip the image into your bag. Peter had dozens of pictures of Gwen, while you only had a measly few. He could spare one.
The other images were far more recent than the first, with only one or two others featuring Gwen. There were snapshots of random Columbia students, a few cityscapes, and even one of the devil herself—Mary Jane, posed in front of the same mess hall that had ensnared you earlier. In the reflection you could see Peter, smiling from behind his camera.
You gritted your teeth and rolled your eyes at the image. Were they really friends? The picture seemed to serve as enough of an answer, but you still couldn’t help but hope that you were wrong. Had Peter truly traded you in for Mary-fucking-Jane?
You roughly shoved that photo to the back of the stack, doing your best not to think about it as you continued to snoop through the rest of them. None were particularly interesting, save for the last two. Their dark composition offered a stark difference from the rest, while simultaneously making it difficult to tell what Peter was even photographing.
Taking one in each hand, your eyes darted back and forth between them, squinting as you tried to make out the subject, a task that was made all the more difficult by the rooms dim red lighting. You brought one closer to your face, making out a few trivial details. At the far edge, there seemed to be a street sign's corner, and in the middle a few streaks of dim light reflecting off a rain puddle.
Moving it away from yourself, you shifted your focus to the other one, thinking it appeared to be just a close-up of the first image. Then, slowly, you realized your mistake. It hadn’t been just a zoomed-in shot, as the reflection in the puddle made it something else entirely—a self-portrait.
But it wasn’t the warmth of Peter’s familiar brown eyes being reflected in the hazy liquid. Rather there was an outline of the two lifeless white lenses that belonged to his other self, the version of him you sometimes wished to forget.
The sight made you feel sick, sweat starting to form along your neck as you hastily flipped the photo over, desperate to avoid his sickening stare. However, what you saw on the back of the image was almost as bad as being forced to stare at Spider-Man's reflection. Scrawled in Peter’s barely legible handwriting was the date APRIL 2ND.
A new panic quickly trickled into your veins, fully replacing the one that had been born from the lifeless gaze of his mask. You read yesterday’s date over and over again, as if it would suddenly change. It never did, and a sizable knot formed in your throat as you slowly began to look up, shifting your focus to the forgotten photos pinned to the clothesline.
Your jaw fell slack, the photos in your hands following suit and landing on the desk below them. When you first entered the darkroom, you hadn’t paid much mind to the photographs hanging up, assuming they weren’t of much importance. Now, though, you recognized them for what they truly were—the sister images of the ones you’d been holding. Flashes of 102nd Avenue, Aleksei Sytsevich lying lifeless on the ground, milky white shards of bone peeking through his flesh. And there were photos of his mask, and those goddamn white lenses, spattered with Aleksei’s blood.
Peter hadn’t just been at the crime scene; he had documented it.
Your palm pressed roughly to your mouth, fingers digging into your cheek as you made yourself swallow the vomit fighting its way up your throat. Your own trauma fought desperately to rear its head as you analyzed the gory images, but you refused to let it take hold, scrambling to keep control as you forced yourself to snap into action.
After grabbing your phone, you wasted no time snapping pictures of the photographs hanging from the line, of the ones sprawled on the desk, of everything you could find. You didn’t know yet what you would do with them, but you refused to leave this room without collecting every bit of evidence you could find.
Once you were certain you had gotten it all, you worked to straighten the stack of pictures you’d gone through, adjusting them so they appeared as if they’d never been touched in the first place. Then, with your heart hammering inside your chest, you darted for the door without a second thought, paying absolutely no mind to the strange looks given to you by passing students as you rushed for the stairs.
You couldn’t stop moving, only slowing your frantic pace once you’d nearly made it to the exit doors. You rounded the corner as you tried to pull up Brant’s contact with shaky hands, wanting nothing more than to call her and get the fuck away from this campus. But, as soon as you went to press her name, your phone went flying from your hand and slid across the linoleum, your body pressing smack against another.
Sugary notes of vanilla flooded your senses, making your thoughts turn hazy. Your palms were flush against the soft cotton of someone’s shirt, and you could feel their fingers wrapping firmly around your shoulders, trying to steady you enough that you wouldn’t stumble back from the impact.
”Oh-shit!, sorry! I didn’t even see you-”
Their voice wasn’t the first thing you recognized, instead you found yourself caught up in the material beneath your hands. They were wearing a black Ramones t-shirt, a barely noticeable tear on the edge of the collar. But you noticed the tear instantly because you were the one who had bought the shirt. You got it at the record store on 6th Avenue—Rough Trade, was the name of it—and the man behind the counter gave it to you for half off all because of that tear.
You only ever got to wear it once before Peter nabbed it off your bedroom floor, never to return it.
”y/n?”
Your body betrayed you, immediately melting as the familiar sound of your name falling from his lips rang through your ears. Your heart had still been pounding in your chest this entire time, yet as your eyes met his for the first time in months, it fell still.
Peter didn’t fully share in your reaction. Instead of appearing as if he were lost in the same nostalgic haze you were caught in, he looked as if he had seen a ghost. His skin blanched, eyes growing unnaturally wide. For a moment you thought he was going to say something else, his lips parting, yet nothing came out.
In your lifetime, you had only known of a few things that could render Peter Parker speechless. You had now become one of them.
”Hi.” You squeaked out, a single hand lifting from his chest and offering an awkward wave that filled you with humility.
This wasn’t easy.
You weren’t sure how to act around him, how to behave. For nine months you had envisioned this moment, conjuring up countless things to say to him, all the insults you wanted to hurl his way. But now that it was happening, you found yourself torn between wanting to hug and choke him.
It seemed best to do neither.
”Um, hi?” Peter’s grip on your shoulders tightened, just for a second, as if he were trying to prove to himself that you were really standing in front of him. Once he seemed satisfied with your physicality, he stepped back and released his grip on you entirely, subsequently making your other hand fall from his chest.
”You’re not-I mean-you don’t go here.” He rasped, laughing awkwardly as he ran a hand through his hair, trying to ground himself.
”You’re right, I don’t go here!” You pointlessly confirmed, voice raising several octaves as anxiety took over. “Very observant.”
You cringed at the statement. Very observant?-you thought to yourself, biting down on the edge of your tongue as you watched Peter’s brows knit together-could've said anything, and that’s what you picked?
He didn’t even acknowledge the useless comment, only letting it hang in the air between you as he continued to wait for a true answer.
“I came to see you.” You choked out an honest answer, starting to shrink beneath his heavy gaze. You tried to step back, instinctively wanting to create distance between the two of you, but all you achieved was pressing yourself against the wall.
There was no escaping him.
He was quick to respond, making it clear just how high-strung he was. ”How did you find me?”
”I’m a reporter.” You reminded him, offering it up as a vague answer to his question. He’d likely expected the response, given the way his eyes narrowed in frustration. “Finding people is part of my job description.”
Peter always said that getting an answer out of you was like playing a game of charades, one that others very rarely won. You were a pro at dancing around the facts, only ever revealing them when they served to benefit you.
It was one of the many reasons you were so good at your job.
“Is that why you’re here?” His question carried a sharp edge, his irritation growing stronger now as his jaw tightened. “For the Bugle?”
Your body became tense, your shoulders squaring off as anxiety once again tried to shove to the surface. As you thought of the images you’d seen, the ones that were hanging just upstairs, your blood ran cold. You did your best not to let it show, instead trying to hide your fear behind a look of confusion. “Why would I be here for the Bugle?”
At first, he only stared at you, his brows raising in an incredulous manner. You forced yourself to stare back despite the discomfort it brought you. Then, finally, he answered. “You wanna talk about Spider-Man, right?”
Your heart sank into your stomach, lips turning dry as they parted. There was nothing good about the way the vigilante’s name rolled off his tongue, and you didn’t like it one bit. The semi-hushed tone he’d spoken in, laced with an essence of bitterness that one wouldn’t expect from the person that donned the mask.
Hesitantly running your tongue along your now chapped lips, you responded in a shaky voice. “Why would I wanna talk about Spider-Man?”
Harry’s advice rang through your mind—the same advice that had been mirrored by Aunt May, to remain wary of Peter—and you suddenly felt lightheaded. There was no way he could know that you found out about his identity that night, right?
No, of course not. It was impossible.
Peter appeared far more relaxed than you, his shoulders lazily lifting into a shrug. He didn’t seem to notice the sweat forming along your brow, making you think that you were doing an alright job at hiding your emotions. “Jameson wants new pictures of him, doesn’t he?” He threw out a guess.
Your shoulders instantly sagged with relief, your lungs aching as you lightly blew out a breath you hadn’t realized you were holding. Given what you’d seen upstairs, you decided it would be best to stick to Harry and May’s advice. Peter didn’t need to know that you were aware of who wore Spider-Man's mask. Not right now, at least.
“I'm right, aren’t I?” Peter insisted impatiently, interrupting your racing thoughts and snapping you back into reality.
“Do you have new pictures of him?” You hastily snapped back.
“No. I don’t.” He lied straight through his teeth, once again running a hand through his already messy hair as he squeezed his eyes shut. It was obvious that he wasn’t planning to share any details of Spidey’s newly developed photoshoot hanging in the darkroom, and it would be against your best interest to press further, so you stayed quiet. When he opened his eyes again, he stared directly into yours. “And I don’t plan on taking any, so if that’s why you’re here then you’re wasting your time.”
You couldn’t recall ever hearing Peter sound so exhausted before. His recent lack of sleep was made painfully evident by the varying shades of purple painting the skin around his eyes. How long had he looked this way? Has it been since Gwen? In some sick way you hoped that you were right, knowing that grief being the cause was better than the alternative—the idea that his lack of sleep related to his involvement with Aleksei.
A part of you still refused to consider the images you’d seen as damning evidence that Peter had been the one to kill Aleksei Sytsevich. You couldn’t let yourself think that, refusing to believe that Peter Parker was anything even close to a murderer. It wasn’t possible.
But, as much as you hated to admit it, they proved that he was in some way involved. An accessory, at least. For some reason, hopefully a good one, he hadn’t stopped Aleksei’s murder from happening.
That came with its own dangerous implications.
You clicked your tongue against the roof of your mouth, trying to decide what direction you wanted to steer the conversation in, which angle would serve you best. With a deep breath, you made your choice. “Well, it’s good that that’s not why I’m here then.”
He looked surprised. “Wait,” he laughed awkwardly, “you’re not writing a piece on him?”
There was a thin line creasing the space between his brows, a strange expression on his face. His reaction wasn’t entirely unexpected, especially because you were known for your articles on Spider-Man. But this wasn’t a look that showed he was shocked to hear you were passing up on a story, it was a look of pure offense.
You fought the urge to ask him why he cared so much, curious to find out if he had been expecting you to rush to Spider-Man's defense in the media. The only reason you held yourself back was the fear that maybe you were wrong, that maybe he hadn’t wanted you to defend him at all; perhaps he just wanted more press for his potential crimes.
”Seems like the Globe has it covered.” You told him, trying to sound disinterested. You hoped that he would buy your act. “No need to waste anymore ink on a story that’s already been told, right?”
Peter knew you well enough to know that there was more to it than that. Fortunately, he was willing to reason that your potential avoidance of Spider-Man related to that night, the last night all of you were together, and the events that neither of you wanted to talk about. Besides, even if he did want to mention it, he couldn’t do so without exposing his identity to you, an identity he wasn’t aware you already knew about.
So, as much as he didn’t want to let it go, he had no other choice.
”O-kay.” He stretched the word out, shaking his head lightly as he worked to regain his bearings in the conversation. As he did so, a few strands of hair fell against his forehead. He was quick to push them back. “Well, if that’s not it, then why are you here?”
There was only a second of hesitation, air hissing between your teeth as you sucked in a breath, crossing your fingers behind your back. You hoped Gwen would forgive you for the lie you were about to tell.
”Helen Stacy.”
The first emotion to wash over Peter was pain. It was obvious, showing in the way his shoulders slumped forwards and his bottom lip trembled, wincing as the surname of his dead lover echoed through his ears. It was the second emotion that was harder to detect, having been more cleverly concealed than the first. Anger.
You could see it in his eyes, his pupils dilating as he started to see red. Your own gaze flickered to his sides, stopping on his clenched fists, knuckles turning a pale shade of white. It made you feel uncomfortable, especially since you were the one on the receiving end of that look. You nervously cleared your throat, starting to fiddle with the strap of your bag.
“She called the other day and asked about running a memorial piece for Gwen’s anniversary. Obviously, she thought it would be best if Gwen’s friends put it together—you know, do it how we used to for the school paper. I’ll do the writing; you take care of the pictures.”
It was hard to sound confident as you elaborated upon the fabricated situation, too busy trying to focus on anything other than his heavy gaze. You focused on the floor, mostly, staring over at where your phone still laid on the ground. Still, even without looking at him, you could feel the weight of his attention. The air around you began to grow thin, every breath turning into a battle. You felt like you were being slowly suffocated by his fury, your lungs burning within your chest.
“I don’t know if that’s a good idea-”
“You can’t say no, Pete.” You cut him off, forcibly lowering the walls surrounding your own trauma, using it to manipulate him. You didn’t feel bad about it, either. “We both lost our best friend that night, and that sucked. But Helen lost her kid. This is the least we can do for her.”
As the last word fell from your mouth, you forcefully pried your gaze off the ground and begrudgingly met his once again. Terror slid into your veins as you did, your body already preparing itself for that seething look of his—but it vanished. There was no trace of anger on his face. All that remained was the slightest glimmer of remorse.
His fists unclenched, mindlessly cracking his knuckles. Then he sighed, followed by a reluctant nod. “You’re right. She’s been through a lot, and if this will help bring her some sort of... I don’t know-” he waved his hands slightly, looking troubled by his own choice of words, “closure, then I’ll do what I can to help.”
Your mouth curved into a smile.
It seemed like a good sign, you figured, that he was willing to help. It reignited whatever hope you had left that despite whatever mess he had gotten into as Spider-Man, that he was still the same selfless Peter Parker you’d always known. He could still be saved. And, fortunately, you had now crafted the excuse you needed to get closer to him and figure out how to save him.
”Great!” You spoke a little too loud, your excitement coming off a touch too strong. You tried to lessen it, though the uncharacteristic reaction certainly hadn’t gone unnoticed by Peter. “Meet me at Sylvia’s tomorrow at six, okay? We can start going over everything and make a rough outline for the memorial!”
Peter immediately went still when he heard the name of the restaurant the four of you used to frequent. He hadn’t set foot in Sylvia’s since Gwen’s death, too afraid to face the memories hiding within its walls. He tried to speak, tried to tell you no, but he didn’t have the chance as you interrupted him again.
“Here,” You pulled a business card from your bag, thrusting it towards him with a pointed look, “in case you forgot my number.”
You didn’t hide the animosity behind the statement, using it as another tool to play on whatever guilt he might harbor for what he’d done to you. It seemed to work, given the fact that he promptly shut his mouth and chose not to argue. Instead, he cautiously reached out, plucking the cards from your fingers.
“Try not to ghost me for another nine months.” You playfully added on, the words joined by a smile that resembled something of a threat as you reminded him, “After all, I know where to find you now.”
Peter just returned the smile, tight lipped and far less ferocious than the one you’d given him. He knew that eventually you’d want an answer as to why he’d been avoiding you, but not right now. Now wasn’t the time for it.
So, he stuffed the card in his pocket as you skillfully skirted around him, going to grab your phone off the floor. Once you had it in your hand, you started towards the exit, already starting to dial Brant’s number. “I’ll see you tomorrow, y/n.” Peter called after you, watching as you pushed the door open and stepped over the threshold.
There was an eerie sense of familiarity accompanying his goodbye, one that left your heart swelling as the words sought to soothe any of the still-bleeding wounds that remained from that night. The comforting feeling was almost enough to make you forget about the images you’d seen in the darkroom, the ones that now also lived within the camera roll on your phone.
Almost—but not quite.
Brant answered on the first ring, seemingly overjoyed as another lie easily fell from your lips, confirming with her that Peter agreed to help take photos of Spider-Man so you could try and plead his case to the public—the reason she thought the two of you were searching for Peter. She was just as eager as you were to leave Columbia’s posh campus, swiftly agreeing when you asked her to meet you outside of the mess hall so the two of you could head back to the Bugle.
Now, waiting alone in front of the mirrored windows, you stared silently at the reflection in front of you. A girl with platinum hair, neatly tucked back by a black headband, stared back at you with her familiar bright green eyes. They were filled with enough dismay to make your chest ache, ridding you of any comfort that Peter’s familiarity had given you.
”You’re gonna have to see him again.” The somber tone she used was unbefitting of someone that you could only think to describe as sunshine personified; everything you ever wished you could be. “You’ll need his help.” Gwen told you. “You know that don’t you?”
You knew she wasn’t talking about Peter.
When you didn’t reply, she decided she needed to convince you further, tailoring her approach so it had the best chance of swaying you. She reached a handout, and you knew that if you had closed your eyes, you would be able to feel her fingertips brush against your palm as she squeezed your hand.
God, you missed that feeling. You missed her.
And it was because you missed her that you refused to close your eyes. Refused to let your brain mimic something that was no longer real.
Gwen’s doe eyes turned glossy, her rosy lips puckering into a pout that could make even the most unyielding man fold. ”He’s gonna need your help, too, y/n.”
You bit your cheek, thinking of the bottle of pills laying in the bottom of your bag, the ones you hadn’t had to take in so long now. You were getting better.
"You can’t save one without saving the other.” Gwen tried to tell you, although it only served to make you angry at her, unable to figure out why she would feel that way. She shouldn’t want you to save Harry, not when he was the reason she wasn’t here right now!
If she were here, really here, then maybe you would tell her that. Remind her of how well her altruistic lifestyle had ended.
But she wasn’t. So, you didn’t.
Instead, you turned on your heel, forcing yourself to turn away from the reflection. You immediately saw a flash of royal blue in the sea of students as Brant forced her way through the crowd. Fine—you thought to yourself, offering Gwen a silent answer as you started to make your way towards Brant.
”This place is a goddamn maze!” You heard Brant huff noisily once you were in earshot of each other, her bobbed hair swaying manically. She clearly hadn’t had a good time, but you weren’t really interested in hearing about it, either. Instead, you found yourself distracted by her appearance. Her neatly styled hairstyle, sharp winged liner, and stylish outfit. It made you think of the girls from earlier, the ones who had made you so self-conscious, and it gave you an idea.
If you were going to do this—follow Gwen’s advice and save both of your boys—then you needed to try and save yourself, too. And, luckily, you and Brant seemed to be about the same size.
“Do you wanna go shopping?” You asked bluntly, watching as Brant doubled-back, clearly not expecting your question.
She blinked, thinking it over before hesitantly replying, “Um, sure?”
Ravencroft could wait until tomorrow morning.

Which version of Peter Parker/Spider-Man did you fall in love with??
Honestly i loved the ultimate spider-man version, he was the starting point to my long obsession with anything Spidey related (especially with you and your blog❤️)
it's insane now that you can say "ultimate spider-man" and i don't know if you mean the 2000s comics ultimate spider-man, the television ultimate spider-man, or the present ultimate spider-man.
which of these men is your man??
they can't ALL be ultimate. how can they ALL be ultimate. ultimate means ONE. the ultimate. they can't all b
come ON now!! they're just throwing that word around!!
i know you probably don't mean the present ultimate, he's too new. unless he is your guy. in which case, welcome to hell, you fresh baby, you. if you mean ultimate spider-man the cartoon, then mad respect. you must be pretty freaky. i am too (he was one of my first exposures to spider-man too. and i liked it. i'm pretty freaky.)
if it's the ultimate comics version (objectively the best one) - then nice. good taste. very respectable and normal of you. he is very cute and i love him. but also want to wring his neck. which is the sign of a good peter parker.
little twerp. i hate him.
funnily enough the thing that sparked my spider-man hyperfixation was actually an aerial silks artist in a circus who was dressed as spider-man.
yeah. i had watched the tobey maguire movies when i was a kid in the cinema but i didn't like them at the time (didn't appreciate them) (was too young) (thought tobey's face was weird) (didn't get it) and actually, funnily, had NO interest in seeing the andrew garfield movies at all because the cynical child i was said "why are they rebooting spider-man?? didn't they just make a spider-man like three years ago??" i literally had no interest in spider-man at all as a child. at all. i didn't get it. wasn't into it. didn't see tasm1 in the cinema. had no interest in spider-man at all until i saw that aerial silks artist gyrating around in his tight tights and thought "hm."
i started drawing spider-man before i started reading him. and actually, i started reading deadpool long before i started reading spider-man. deadpool was kind of the guy where i thought "if i ever get into comics, it'll probably be deadpool." i knew a lot more about deadpool. i saw all the memes on the internet at 13 years old and thought "haha yeah this guy is funny. not like spider-man. spider-man is lame and for babies. this guy is like spider-man but if spider-man was funny and cool and not for babies."
so when the day finally came where i said "today is the day im going to start reading comics", it was deadpool, not spider-man. but i kept running into spider-man in the comics and he wasn't lame and boring like i thought he was. he was funny and sharp and kind of bitchy actually. and so i kind of liked him. and started reading him.
first i read all the spider-man and deadpool team-ups, first. because i was eating my way through all the deadpool i could. so i read like, all of deadpool before i started diving into spider-man. and i think i started watching the ultimate spider-man cartoon here-or-there before i started picking up the spider-man comics.
eventually i watched tasm1 and then tasm2 in theatres, and i kind of fell in love with andrew. i loved him so much more than tobey. he was just so sad and pitiful but also very pretty, and just – i don't know, there was this indie charm to tasm1 that i kind of loved. not all the hollywood melodrama of the raimi movies - it felt like a real messy, dumb kid who was figuring it out. and i loved him.
a baby boy. baby.
so i think andrew was the peter parker i fell in love with. i started writing him after i watched tasm2 - he's the blueprint for 9319 peter - i hadn't read very much spider-man when i started writing ask-spiderpool - i'd eaten through all of the deadpool canon, but tasm was kind of the springboard for how i approached peter. it was meant to be andrew. i started diving into spider-man comics as i wrote the blog, and started from #1, way back in the 60s. and just fell in love with peter parker more and more the more i read him. but i think andrew will always be my first love. he was the blueprint, and i think - no matter how much of 616 canon i adopt into 9319 - the peter parker i write is always mostly andrew, but recontexualised.
