MLB Writers: "No no, you see - you can only destroy an Amok and kill its sentibeing if you do so with INTENTION! So Marinette never endangered Adrien or Kagami when akumas got stored in their respective amoks! He's perfectly safe as is!"
Me, thinking way too hard about the fridge horror aspects of this: "Uhuh, so that means all the Sentimonsters (including the doppelganger humans), who you established as fully sentient creatures with thoughts and feelings, that Marinette killed had that done intentionally with the desire to murder them, and could have been spared. This also means that if she has the bad luck of running into any existing sentihumans in the wild without knowing what they are and they get their amoks turned into akuma items/affectd by an Akuma, there's a good 98% chance she could kill them (as well as any future Ladybugs who aren't informed or this, and past Ladybugs who didn't know and did this)."
MLB Writers: "...Uh-"
Me: "This also means that Nathalie, Adrien's "kind and loving" mother figure who sees him as a real child despite his origins, also murdered Sentibug deliberately, with full intent of killing her despite understanding full well she was just as human as her future adopted son."
MLB Writers: "......Uh-"
Me: "This also means that Gabriel also murdered all the doppelganger Sentihumans he made deliberately, as well as needlessly endangered his own son and business partner's daughter making their akuma items their amoks ("Riposte", "Perfection", and "Ephemeral"), as there was an extremely high chance Maribug could have destroyed their amoks with the intention of breaking them, thus killing the two."
MLB Writers: "......Uh-"
Me: "This also also means that Felix not only chose to murder Storytime after creating them for Marinette in "Representation", but should he ever decide to be a villain again, there's a good chance he can simple just choose to murder Kagami and Adrien via having Snapping them or destroying their amoks via will if they don't join him."
MLB Writers: "......Uh-"
Me: "This also means that if a situation like "Werepapas" or the prev mentioned with Kagami/Adrien happens again and Maribug isn't paying full attention to her desires/intentions, there's a good high probability that she might kill one of the sentikids by accident anyways because she might one time mistakenly want to destroy their amoks rather than preserve them.\"
MLB Writers: "......"
Me: "...Well, I'm off to add this into my fanfics for horrible reasons. Thanks!"
#Clover Rants Miraculously#ML Critical#ML Salt#Every time the writers try to make the Senti situation less horrific than it sounds they just unlock ten new flavors of bad for it#Like there's having bad optics and then there's this...

Was thinking about SFF books that remind me of podcasts I like so I started making a list:
Alice isn't Dead: Ghostroads series. Has a similar haunted Americana vibe with the main character frequenting roadways and diners, and the immortal Bobby Cross pursuing her could easily come out of an Alice episode.
Arden: Penance is a fake true crime book that also critiques true crime, explores toxic wlw relationships, and is distressingly online. (This is the book that oneshotted me with the phrase 'vriska did nothing wrong' immortalized in print.)
Wolf 359: The Immortality Thief features a hapless dumbass who keeps almost dying in space and a tough as nails female officer keeping herself alive on a floating deathtrap, and everyone gets dragged into dilemmas of morality and redemption. Sean would be on team what's wrong with handcuffs.
The Pasithea Powder: Really anything from the microgenre referred to as lesbian space atrocities is at home here, although Harrow the Ninth has the requisite memory fuckery. While they're not *that* similar, the toxic WLW relationship of The Luminous Dead (caver at the mercy of her obsessed handler) made me similarly invested.
Greater Boston: I already made my case for Discworld, particularly the Ankh-Morpork books. I never finished the duology but iirc The City We Became has a similar weird fiction, anti-corporate vibe very grounded in a specific place's nature.
The Silt Verses: Struggling with this one a bit, but Machineries of Empire is another grisly exploration of the mass sacrifice we accept to maintain our way of life. Lighter fare, but The Raven Tower asks, 'what if you were a god's blorbo, and also trans?'
Ars Paradoxica: The Lady Astronaut series is also an alt history starting in the mid 1900s that emphasizes the experiences of marginalized people working in the sciences during that time. No time travel, but space travel.
Hi Nay: Trail of Lightning's author wrote it in response to so many urban fantasy books having a 'magic Native American' side character, which reminds me of Hi Nay's origins. Also, C.L. Polk's Kingston Cycle hits the 'circle of horrible upper class magicians' note, along with multiple queer romances.
Woe.Begone: A Fractured Infinity features a man who gets access to a spacetime-altering device created by his alternate self and starts hopping realities and destroying worlds to keep his boyfriend safe. Reminded me of Mike and Edgar, although I stopped keeping up with w.bg.
#if you think of another podcast i've listened to I can try to give you a rec#i don't read enough lovecraftian stuff to give you anything for malevolent#but might I suggest: venom#this was inspired by me reading my latest review title#and going this kind of reminds me of janus descending#except janus descending was good

Do people forget that Gwyn can’t even leave the library yet? Like I’m trying to sound horrible but that is the truth.
I see them making theories about her saving Illyria, awakening dusk with Nesta, being Azriel’s mate but they never talk about the abyss between where Gwyn is now and where they want her… I never see them theorizing about how she is gonna overcome her fears and traumas.
I think it would be such a disservice to her character to rush everything… because how can we go from “I’m not even sure if I’m gonna attend my best friend’s mating ceremony” to saving Illyria and doing missions with the Valkyries (who lack training but still)
And not only that but also built an intimate relationship with Azriel? And deal with the Koschei, Illyrian, dusk plot? There is no time (especially since she is not tied to any plot)
It would need time for her to leave the library, feel safe in the outside world and be around men without feeling uncomfortable (and that is totally ok) and THEN starting missions
And SJM honestly wouldn’t write it because she isn’t good enough and this is kind of a delicate and sensitive subject, which if isn’t done right can cause lots of drama (rightfully so)
The thing about Gwyn is, she had her healing journey already...along with Emerie and Nesta. All of ACOSF was predominately Nesta's healing journey yes, but Emerie and Gwyn came along for the ride as needed friends for Nesta and their own trauma to overcome.
That's why the BR was about them winning instead of just Nesta, it was a culmination of their training and healing progress. You never hear about how Emerie needs a book for a "healing" journey.
And the thing about "well, Gwyn went back to the library so her story isn't over yet, she has more to overcome!" Yes...but so does every single character. Every single character can have a book about a personal "healing" journey. They are not static characters and like real life, constantly evolve and have new experiences.
But these books aren't just about personal healing journeys. There is an active plot and narrative and big bad that is uh...trying to destroy and or take over Prythian...a plot that has already been mostly stalled in ACOSF and needs to be progressed as we barely know anything about Koschei, his plans, even what he is trying to achieve.
And Gwyn is not connected to that. Sure, she could be artificially but that's not satisfying and other characters have naturally been connected to the plot would have to be shoved aside or replaced.
Gwyn is not built up as a love interest. Gwyn is not connected to the main plot. Gwyn was there to predominately be Nesta's friend and I say this as someone who likes Gwyn and loved the Valkyrie friendship in the book.
The only way Gwyn could have more significance to the plot is if she was a Lightsinger...but antis don't like this because they know what it means for their precious BC.
And even as a Lightsinger, I don't know how much that would even play into it tbh or if it would just bit a reveal in the book and come into play at a later point? (If I had to guess, I would think if her LS abilities played at all, it would be from Koschei/Merrill influence to keep Elain and Azriel apart? But I've come to really dislike that as I really just don't want Gwyn in an Elriel book at all and also, I think SJM might avoid it now due to the heavier backlash she would receive from the already backlash she will receive for the Elriel book in general.)
And Illyria? Gwyn isn't connected to Illyria. She doesn't even want to acknowledge her title and status as Carnythian (a point that antis forget and try to play up as a point for the ship). The only way she could be connected to Illyria is through Azriel. (Emerie where?? An actual Illyrian woman who has suffered because of her culture?? She's just off eating pussy I guess with nary a care in the world.)
And Azriel is connected to Illyria but that's as his B-plot. His main focus and plot is about Elain (like Rhysand was to Feyre, and Cassian to Nesta). Most of his interactions and words through all the books are about Elain. He doesn't like Illyrians, doesn't like their traditions, hates the BR. The only thing tying him to an Illyrian plot is the knife...which is also tied to Elain. I think if Azriel was going to have this BIG Illyrian plot, ACOSF would have been the perfect time for it. Not to hammer a point home but...the Blood Rite, which Azriel doesn't respect, and Gwyn, his supposed mate who already was SA'd and Cassian even mentions could be exposed to in the BR...what better way to kick off an Illyrian plot with Azriel and mate romance with Gwyn then having Azriel break all the rules and go absolutely feral to rescue her resulting in the fall out to be covered in the next book? It would have been so easy for SJM to set up not only this "Illyrian plot" but also Gwynriel romance if she wanted to. This is already long but I could basically add in short but important pivotal sentences and scenes in ACOSF for Gwynriel that SJM could have easily inserted into already existing scenes and not be in your face but speak volumes.
SJM is a veteran writer who excels at writing romance and has written and thought about this world for over 10+ years. I think if she wanted to do the things that antis theorize, she would have put in way more groundwork for it, either for a romance or just more narrative action for Gwyn and especially if she was an MC for the next book. She didn’t forget, she isn’t saving innocuous interactions for their book, she didn’t look at TOG and think,”well I gotta make a connection to music and mates so I’ll write about Cassian cumming and readers will be able to pick up that this means Gwynriel,” instead of…idk, actual interactions??
Too many antis characterize (and desperately hope) SJM as easily influenced and changeable and while yes, it's standard for an author to have wiggle room and change their mind on some things, I don't think 6 books deep SJM is going to drastically alter the narrative she's been building. This isn't her first foray into a long standing series or even in ship wars. (Chaol vs Rowan was big back when TOG was being written. SJM had a smaller fanbase and booktok wasn't a thing, but there was a shipping war on a slightly smaller scale with who Aelin would end up with.)
Can I see SJM doing something with the Valkyries as a unit? Yes. Can I see SJM doing more for Gwyn as an unexpectedly popular character? Yes but it won't be to basically shove Elain out of her role in the books and insert Gwyn.

Alone again
She/her, Prowl, Sins of the Wreckers spoilers. inspired by: Dandelions- Ruth B, Atlantis- Seafret
☆*: .。. ☆☆*: .。. ☆☆*: .。. ☆☆*: .。. ☆☆*: .。. ☆
When he hears bots saying the famous 'don't know what you have until you lose it', Prowl never thought there would come a day where he must live that. He always had complicated relationship with other bots with most of them being negative.
He met her before the great war, she was introduced to the Autobots as a new member and medical assistant for the Wreckers, and one of the few triple changers on the team.
As they were paired for missions, she demonstrated to be a friendly individual, and even then, at beginning she found herself on one-way conversations most of the time and outside of the base he pretended he did not know her name. But like every good medic she was a caring bot to the young autobots, he often saw her checking on Bumblebee or lecturing Cliffjumper. Prowl noticed her caring nature extended to the rest of team including him, she sometime would ask him if he had enough rest or if he already had his energon rations. When he got injured during missions, she was the first one to make sure he was physically and mentally well, she would ask him how he was holding after rough mission and accompany him to the med bay.
Just like that she become a constant presence in his daily routines, it was suffocating at the beginning since Prowl was not used to having someone care so much for him, but with time he also began waiting for her at the entrance of the base on the mornings, and at the end of the day he would walk by the med bay or training grounds when she was done with her assignment.
Naturally, they started gravitating to each other more and the rest of the Wreckers could not understand how it happened.
Why Prowl? From everyone on the team she chose Prowl.
He couldn't understand it either, it just happened without him realizing it, he found himself sharing energon treats with her after training, going together to the market when she needed supplies for the med bay, walking her to her habsuit, and he just felt odd when he was doing domestic activities with her.
Maybe it was when she went out of her way to check on him or how she made him feel safe after his missions.
Maybe it was her smiles when she spots him from far away or the way she started holding his hand when they walked around the market.
And it was good, he never imagined feeling this content because of someone else.
The relationship was never formalized by words to the rest of the team, but everyone could tell that they were practically conjux at that point.
Prowl had heard bots talking about 'a love that comes once in a lifetime' before and he wanted to believe that she was the one, after all she was the only one that stayed by his side for centuries, the one that bonded with solidifying their feelings.
At the beginning of the great war he started working with Mesothulas, he thought he was helping the Autobots and that the cause justified the means, so he never told her about Aequitas, the Decepti-bombs, or anything regarding the partnership with the scientist.
Mesothulas whoever was aware of her and Prowls relationship, he did not really plan to do anything to her but then Carpessa was destroyed and Prowl wanted to break of their partnership. He believed he needed Prowl a much as Prowl needed him for the success of the autobots, so he lured her to his laboratory.
That same day Impactor made his way to the laboratory to get rid of the scientist on behalf of Prowl, he barreled into the place not noticing her standings next to the Noisemaze since before Impactors arrival Mesothulas was about to trap her inside the Noisemaze.
It was too late now, Impactor pushed both into the prison, he noticed her too late and even when he tried to reach her, he was not fast enough.
Impactor did not know what to do or what was he going to tell Prowl, but he needed to destroy the Noisemaze with the rest of the workshop.
After they decided to keep Ostaros Prowl asked Impactor if he had seen his partner.
"She is in Noisemaze, Mesothulas trapped her when I arrived, we don't know what is inside there and she is probably gone by now" Impactor was not sure if she was alive inside that place.
"It can't be" he denied "she doesn't even know him, why would she be there with him?"
Prowls mind went blank, what is he going to do now that he is alone again. He can save her, his pillar, he must save her and hold her close again.
He never thought that when you love someone in your mind, they are invincible, you do not think that something is going to take them away until it happens.
And he feels more trapped every day, he lives with a mask of indifference, but he is fooling none, the Autobots could tell when walked by her habsuit and went to the med bay after his shifts, he was mourning the loss of his partner.
He promised her once that he will always find her, he doesn't care who he has to destroy for her.
He must set his grief aside and get her back home.

Hidden Secrets
G-Dragon x Reader
Summary: Fate has a funny way of working things out.
Warnings: Angst, panic attack, fluffy fluff
A/N: To make this a little easier on myself I'm posting both chapters 6 and 7 tonight. I really hope you enjoy and I appreciate everyone who has ridden this insane rollercoaster so far. I also thank you for the love and support for my work, I put my all into it <3
Chapter 5
Chapter 6- Fate
It was a month and a half after your blow up with Jiyong and he still hadn’t gotten over it. He’d seen your calls, gotten your voicemails and he even would read your texts, letting you see that he read it, but he wouldn’t respond. He couldn’t, not when he made the promise to you that he was done. Not when he promised himself, he wouldn’t let you destroy him anymore.
Jiyong stares at the envelope he receivedfrom the mail man that morning on the counter. It had his name in your hand writing on it. He took a shot before deciding to open it.
“Ji, I know I’m the last person you want to hear from right now, but this wasn’t something I could put in a text. I miss you, a lot. I know you said you’re done, and I don’t blame you. I just really really miss you. I don’t deserve it, after what I did, and I don’t blame you for shutting me out, I deserve that. But I would really like the chance to talk. I’ve had a lot of time to think, alone in my apartment, and I’ve realized some things. Please at least consider it.
Xoxo
Y/n, FKA Your Girl.”
He sighs and sets the note down, noting the small tear marks on the page. He wanted to see you, he wanted to believe you’d changed or at least that you’d want to. Not having you beside him these last 6 weeks has been crazy, the sudden transition of seeing you everyday for years to now not talking has been extremely difficult and in all honesty, he had time to think too. Time to think about his own mistakes, time to question if he really did everything he could, but he wasn’t sure of the answer.
Despite his brain screaming at him, telling him its a mistake, he picks up the phone and presses your name. It rings a few times before he hears your hesitant and soft voice pick up.
“H-hello?”
“Hey,” is all he can mutter.
“I um,” he clears his throat, “I got the letter,” he squeezes his eyes tight, unsure of whether or not this is the right choice.
“I’m open to talking,” he says lowly. Your breath hitches and he waits to hear you respond.
“You still there?” he asks when he doesn’t hear anything.
“Yeah, yeah, I’m here, um what about today?” you ask still unsure. He pinches the bridge of his nose in stress.
“Yeah, I can be there in 45 minutes,” he sighs.
“Ok, I’ll leave the door open.” He hangs up the phone and gets in the shower, allowing the hot water to beat his skin, trying to clear his mind. He constantly wondered if he was making the right choice, he wasn’t sure if he could trust you. He gets himself dressed and gets into his car.
Stopped at a red light, he sends you a text saying he’s 5 minutes out. When the light turns green all Jiyong can process is that its his turn to go. Then there's a loud crash and suddenly his body is lodged between the driver side door of his car and his console.
You pace your apartment; it’s been 15 minutes since he sent that text. You didn’t want to bug him, but you were concerned too. Jiyong was nothing if not punctual. After another 5 minutes you pick up your phone. You just want to know he’s safe. He’d understand that, right?
Before you can press the call button, his name comes up on your phone.
“Ji, I was just about to call you,”
“Uh,” you hear a random man’s voice begin to speak.
“I’m sorry who is this?”
“I’m officer Park, your friend here has been in an accident, you’re the Emergency Contact in his phone so we wanted you to know he’s going to ASAN Medical Center if you would like to see him.”
“Oh, wait, what, ok,” is all you can stammer out as your heart drops into your stomach.
“Is he alive?” your voice is filled with fear.
“Barely, your friend here got lucky. An inch closer to his door he would’ve been dead on impact,” your body shakes slightly with the anxiety coursing through it.
“I’ll be at the hospital in 10 minutes. Do I go to the ER side or,” you can’t think your mind is so jumbled.
“We’ll give the front desk your name at the hospital and they’ll bring you to him.” The man is sympathetic. You mumble a thank you and speed down the hospital.
You walk in, give the front desk woman your name she doesn’t have it.
“But, the guy, officer-officer Park said he’d give it to you, please I need to see him,” you plead with her.
“I don’t even see him in the system,” she looks at you helplessly.
“What,” you breathe out and hunch over some before you pass out or start hyperventilating. Your body feels like its shaking from the inside out. Just then you hear a man giving the woman your name and you stand straight up.
“I’m y/n, where is he?” the fear and worry in your eyes can’t be hidden. He gives you as solemn look and the woman opens the doors that lead back to the ER area. You go down the halls like a rat in a maze, growing more anxious by the minute. When you finally get to his room, the officer stops you before you open the door.
“He’s not going to look like you remember. It was bad, really bad,” you search his eyes. They’re sympathetic towards your plight.
“Thank you for taking care of him,” you nod your head and purse your lips in a tight line. You take a deep breath before you gently open the door and walk in.
You gasp at what you see, his hair is sticking up, bruises and cuts to his face, he’s unconscious with a tube down his throat. Your eyes water at the sight of his body. You slowly walk over to his beside and sit down in the chair beside the bed.
“Oh, baby I’m so sorry,” you sob quietly.
“If I hadn’t asked you to talk, you never would’ve left, and you wouldn’t be here,” you grab his hand gently. It’s warm, but lifeless. You look at him with blurry vision.
“Hi, I’m his nurse for the evening. You must be his wife,” she smiles. That’s a shot to the chest.
“Actually, I’m his ex,” you utter.
“Oh,” she offers you a smile that you aren’t sure is genuine.
“Well, he’s going into surgery, we need to get him prepped.” Your eyes grow wide.
“Sur-surgery? What does he need surgery for?” your vison once again starts to get blurry.
“He’s got multiple broken bones and some internal bleeding and a punctured lung.” She lowers the railing to his bed. The tears continue to fall to the cold floor beneath you.
“Oh, aein, I’m so sorry,” you whisper as you kiss his forehead and rest yours on his for a brief moment.
“I love you, my sweet boy,” you whisper to him, “So so much,” with one last kiss to the forehead you tear yourself away.
“Please take care of him,” you say with a weak voice and she nods.
“We’ll do our very best.” You give him one last look and walk out of the room. There are nurses and doctors rushing by you and you watch as they go into the room. They wheel him out and the nurse informs you that you can stay put in the room if you’d like. You nod your head and decide to call Taeyang to let him know what’s going on.
“I’ll be there in 15 minutes,” is his response. You go out to the lobby to wait for him and when you see him, all you can do is embrace one another.
“How is he?” Taeyang was always like a brother to you, he cups your face looking into your eyes.
“I don’t have an update yet,” you say solemnly. You both walk back his room.
“What the hell, y/n,” he mumbles.
“What?” you ask caught off guard.
“I mean, don’t get me wrong you guys had your share of issues,” he trails off.
“Yeah, and?”
“I just never thought I’d see the day you guys didn’t talk. That you weren’t apart of each other somehow someway,” your guilt pings in your chest.
“Yeah, well, here are now. So can we please focus on that until its settled,” you can’t meet his gaze. You both sit silent for a minute before he speaks up again.
“I let the guys know, they asked me to let them know when he’s out of surgery.” You nod your head.
“It’s been over an hour; you want anything to eat or drink?” you shake your head no. You couldn’t think of eating anything when your worry and guilt was eating away at you.
“I’m going to grab something, call me if there’s a change.” He leaves you alone with your thoughts. You can’t control the sobs that burst out of you when the door closes behind him. You start hyperventilating and luckily a nurse comes by the room and she notices you gasping for air. She opens the door and brings you a brown paper bag to help you breathe.
“In and out, there ya go.” She stands at a distance, giving you space to calm down. You slowly start breathing normally again, the bag helping and she offers you a small smile before stepping out.
“Wait,” you call and she turns on her heel.
“Is there any update on my boy- ex boyfriend,” your voice is hopeful but she nods her head no. Your shoulders sink and you nod. You close the door to the room and try to take your mind off the current situation.
Another few minutes later the doctor walks in.
“So, we were able to stop the bleeding, but he’s going to need help, a lot of it, he’s got some compressed nerves that are limiting the function of his hands and legs. Due to the extent of the compression it’s going to take at least 6-8 weeks to get some of his feeling back, if not a little longer. His body is in a lot of pain and its pretty broken even with our efforts. He won’t be able to do much on his own. Are you able to stay with him?” the doctor says and you raise your brows.
“I, uh, I’m not sure, I mean I will if no one else can, but I’m not sure he would want me there,” you glance at the floor.
“If he wants to live and have any quality of life again, he’ll take what he can get.” The doctor says.
“We’ll bring him down in about an hour. He’s waking up now,” you nod and thank the doctor.
Taeyang comes back in the room just as you’re about to call him and you explain what the doctor said.
“Can you stay with him?” you know it’s a long shot with his family.
“Not constantly.”
“It was worth a shot.” You shrug your shoulders.
“Can you, can you call his mom and sister?” You ask hopeful.
“Ji would kill me,” he jokes but seeing your face confused he explains, “He never wants them to worry, even when they would have a reason to,” you nod. He never really did like when people fussed over him too much.
“Listen, it might be awkward, but you’re the only one with the time on your hands,” he gently explains.
“I don’t know, Youngbae,” you sigh.
“We were supposed to talk but then this happened,” you trail off looking into the distance.
“Then that must mean he was at least willing to hear you out,” he reasons.
“Yeah, but this would require me to literally live there again.”
“So, do that. As friends and only friends,” he scolds as he wags a finger at you. You direct your gaze to the floor. You guys wait for the next hour and when the door opens and his bed rolls in you can see a groggy Jiyong with his eyes half open looking and smiling at Taeyang. You stay seated as he walks over to see his best friend.
“You look rough,” Taeyang jokes and Jiyong tries to laugh, but he lets out a groan.
“We’ll give him something for the pain,” the nurse says gently and you both nod at her and Taeyang makes eye contact with you. Jiyong notices and follows his gaze to see you sitting there sheepishly. His eyes open a little more.
“I’m going to call the guys and let them know you’re out of surgery and they can come up tomorrow to see you,” he puts a hand on Jiyong’s shoulder and exists the room. It’s silent, an awkward silence but you decide to stand up anyway. He watches you tiptoe to him, holding your arms over your frame, as if that makes this less intimidating. You instinctively reach out and touch his cheek, but he pulls his face away.
“You can go,” his tone is angry, harsh, and the words, they sting.
“What if I don’t want to,” you ask sitting on the edge of his bed. He looks at you, and for the first time you get to see the damage done in detail. A black eye, bruised cheek, a cut the lip and small bruises on his forehead. You exhale when he just stares at you, cold and unfeeling.
“What if I want you to?” he glances up from the blanket he was looking at when he spoke.
“If that’s what you want, tell me to leave and I’ll go.” You stand up, bracing yourself for the words. He parts his lips for a moment, but he can’t make himself tell you to leave. He closes his mouth and purses his lips with closed eyes. You exhale a small breath you didn’t realize you were holding. You relax your shoulders and sit down on the bed again.
“Doc says you’ll need help once you get out of here,” you mumble after a moment of silence.
“I’ll figure something out,”
“I don’t mind helping, Jiyong. That is, if you want it,” you can’t look at him, but instead the floor of the emergency room.
The nurse comes in before he can even try to protest.
“We need to get you moved to a room. You’ll be here for a few days so we can monitor you.” The nurse takes the bed and you update everyone on what’s happening.
In the room you sit beside him in one of those reclining chairs beside the bed. He dozes off from the pain medication and you start sketching something in a book you brought in your purse. A nurse brings his dinner in and she politely brings something for you as well.
“Ji,” you touch him as gentle as dove, trying not to hurt him. He stirs and opens his eyes to look at you.
“Hmm,” he mutters.
“Your dinner is here,” you point at the table sitting above his bed. He looks at it and tries to pick up the fork but his hand won’t grasp it.
“Shit,” he says under his breath and for a moment you watch him, unsure if you should step in. After a couple of failed attempts he turns his head to the side.
“I’m not hungry,” his voice is quiet but frustrated. You lower the railing to his bed and he looks at you surprised. Quietly you get some food on his fork and hold it to his mouth. He looks in your eyes with a frustrated look.
“If you’re gonna survive this, you gotta eat. Plain and simple,” he slowly opens his mouth with furrowed brows, looking like a small child.
“You don’t have to feed me,” he says with food in his mouth.
“No, I don’t,” you get another bite for him.
“But I’m going to.” You grab a napkin and dab his mouth. You both stare at each other. You clear your throat and turn your attention to his tray. You pick up a drink for him and he takes a sip. Once he’s finishes you sit down and eat the small snack the nurse brought for you.
“Go get something to actually eat, I’ll be fine.” He says.
“I’m not leaving.”
“Y/N,” he starts, but you cut him off.
“Ji, I’m not leaving you.” Your stubbornness evident.
“Not again,” you mumble to yourself.
“Then at least order some real food,” he stares at the TV.
“Will that make you happy,” you ask and he glances at you.
“Wouldn’t make me angry,” he slightly shrugged before wincing in pain.
“Being a sarcastic smart ass is gonna cost for a little while,” you smirk and he rolls his eyes. You order something to eat and as you go to put your card info in, he protests.
“Just use mine, I know it’s stored,” he says his eyes not looking away from the TV on the wall.
“I have my own money, I don’t need,”
“Just like I don’t need you here helping me, but you’re doing it anyway.” He look at you with a small smirk, using your own logic against you.
“Ji, really,” you try to protest.
“It’s fine, just use my card. You relent just using his money get something to eat. It arrives and you go to the nurses station to pick it up. Walking back in he watches you closely.
“Here, don’t tell the nurse,” you wink as you set the vanilla shake down on the tray. He quirks a brow up at you.
“I didn’t ask for-”
“No, but you also didn’t ask for this,” you motion around the room, “and I’m trying to be nice.”
He sighs in defeat, once again wincing in pain. You check the clock.
“I’ll grab the nurse, it’s time for your medication.” Before he can even protest you’re out the door looking for one.
She comes in a dispenses the necessary pain meds and leaves once he takes them. The room is awkwardly silent again.
“Thank you,” he mumbles when you come over to put the cup up to his lips.
“For what?” you ask confused.
“For being here, staying, here.” His voice is quiet and you offer him a sweet smile.
“There’s no where else I’d rather be.”
That night the two of you get little to no sleep, the chair there is completely uncomfortable and the nurses keep waking him up to get his vitals. You hold on to his left arm anytime they need to get his blood pressure because of how bad it hurts and you’re trying to offer him some comfort.
The next morning comes and the guys all show up to the hospital with gifts from the gift shop and Taeyang brings a bag over to you.
"Some snacks and a word search to help pass the time." He shrugs.
“Thank you,” you hug his neck and for a moment you feel like everything might somehow wind up being ok. The guys stay for a while and you decide to take a minute to get some fresh air. Seunghyun follows you out.
“Hey,” he calls as you get on the elevator. You offer him a smile.
“Thanks for taking such good care of him, if we could,” he offers you a sincere look.
“I know,” you nod and sigh.
“I just didn’t expect this to be, what it is.” You can’t really describe it because you don’t really know what it is. Is it awkward, is it easy, is it stressful? All of the above.
“It’s not easy,” he puts a hand on your shoulder. You rub your forehead.
“And I feel like it’s my fault he’s even here. You pinch the bridge of your nose.
“If I hadn’t asked him to talk,”
“Hey,” Seunghyun’s arm goes around your shoulder pulling you into his side.
“He offered to come over, this isn’t your fault and this isn’t his fault. It’s the dumbass driver who hit him. He ran a red light.” He tries to reason with you, to ease some of the guilt.
“You really should go home, even if it’s just for a little while. Take a nap, get some actual rest. I can stay today until you can come back.” He offers.
“What if something happens? No, I need to be here.”
“IF something happens, I’ll call you myself.”
“I just don’t want to be away from him,” you mumble as you step outside into the cool spring air.
“Trust me, you’ll thank me later. Rest while you can, because he’s likely to be a handful at home.” You nod your head knowing he’s right.
“Call me in an hour,” you point at him. He nods as he walks you to your car. You go back to your apartment for a quick nap, or at least that’s what you tried to do. You kept tossing and turning your mind slowly starting to process the craziness of the day. You stare at the ceiling before deciding you can’t sleep. You pick up your phone and see a text from Seunghyun.
Doctor came in, said Jiyong looks good and he can go home tomorrow morning. Ji wants me to help you move some of your stuff back to his place so you have what you need.
You get up immediately and call him.
“Hey, I’m on my way to your place now.”
“Is someone with him?”
“Daesung is staying, calm down.” He chuckles.
“Don’t laugh at me,” you grumble.
“Relax, I wouldn’t leave him by himself, knowing him, he’d try to get up and walk out now.” You both chuckle at his stubbornness. Seunghyun gets to your place and you guys start boxing stuff up.
“From now on, I’m living out of boxes,” you joke and he smiles nodding his head.
“You know,” he starts as he packs some of your clothes in a box, “He really hasn’t been the same since you left.” You freeze and look at him through the vanity mirror where you were gathering up your makeup.
“Seunghyun, I,”
“Just listen,” he asks but in a way that’s telling you to do so.
“Don’t get me wrong you two are no where near perfect, but when things were good, it was obvious and he thrived.” You smile fondly on the memories.
“But when things were bad,” you dared to ask.
“It was obvious in his countenance. But he still talked about you like you were the love of his life. Even after he told us about your big blow up.” You nod sadly.
“At the hospital,” he beings as he tapes a box up for you as he lets out a breathy laugh.
“He was talking about how you were there and he didn’t necessarily need you, and we all jumped his ass for it because he knows he does.” Seunghyun shakes his head.
“And he admitted something that you can’t tell him, not yet at least.” You turn around and put your full attention on him.
“Despite everything, he admitted he misses you and that it’s going be nice to have you, and I quote, ‘home’.” Your heart skips a beat and for a moment your breath hitches and you can’t breathe.
“But, don’t tell him you know. He isn’t ready for that conversation yet. The doctors also said he needs to stay as calm as possible. So no teasing,” he scolds playfully. You give him a genuine hug.
“Thank you, for everything.”
“Come on, let’s get this stuff back to his place, so you can unpack and get settled before he gets home.” You drive in your car to familiar house that sits back off the road. Opening the door it smells like home, it smells like what you remember. Princess Zoa even comes to greet you at the door.
“Hi, baby,” you coo as you set the box down and scratch behind her ears. She purrs and meows at you endlessly as she goes in between your legs. After a moment you make sure to put her up so she can’t get out while you unload your things for a second time in this house.
As you spread a blanket out in the living room, you do a double take. You notice a familiar painting in a beautiful gold frame.
“He-he framed it?” you ask yourself.
“Oh, yeah, you know when he first saw that, he went on and on about it. He even took a picture of it and sent it to us.” Your eyes water and you blink it back.
“I can’t believe he kept it,” you mumble. And you can feel Seunghyun’s gaze on you, carefully. He smiles feeling a sense nostalgia.
“We should get this finished,” he mumbles tapping the box in his hands with his fingertips.
“Yeah,” you sniffle slightly. You hadn’t expected the gesture to hit you so hard.
“He really did love me,” you say to yourself with a deprecating laugh, your voice is sorrowful.
“Yeah.” Seunghyun agrees.
“And I was horrible to him,” you whimper as you cover your face. He looks at you for a moment before wrapping his arms around you.
“It’s not too late to start fresh,” he reminds you.
“He said he was done forever, Seung,”
“I know what he said.” He strokes your hair trying to help you calm down.
“Look, just do what you’ve been doing. Show him the love you really have for him. And when the time comes, after he’s healed and feeling better, talk to him. Explain it all.” You nod and pull away from him. He smiles at you and after a few hours everything is unpacked, even your art supplies and canvases.
Back at the hospital that night, Jiyong and Daesung are chatting.
“Man, if you miss her just tell her that,” Jiyong cuts his eyes at his bandmember.
“Ok, or don’t,” he trails off and darts his gaze elsewhere.
“You know why I can’t tell her that. I told her I was done, that we were done forever. So regardless of whether or not I miss her, I need to keep my word,” his voice is serious.
“Dude, respectfully, shut the fuck up,” Jiyong shoots his brows up and his eyes are big as saucers.
“What the,” he’s interrupted by his friend once more.
“You're going crazy without her,”
“I went crazy with her!”
“Yeah, fair point, but you still love her and you know it,” he points at his friend. Jiyong looks at his hands in his lap. He doesn’t protest. He knows he does. Part of him can’t wait to have you back at home, but part of him is scared too. He just got used to how quiet the house was without you. Now you’re coming back and he had no idea what was going to happen.
There’s a knock on the door.
“Come in!” Daesung calls out. You and Seunghyun walk in and you have on a large jacket with a bump under it. Jiyong eyes you suspiciously as a soft meow comes from it. Before you know it, Zoa has popped her little head out and meows looking around.
Jiyong can’t help the genuine smile that grows from ear to ear, causing his eyes to squint slightly with a soft laugh. You put the cat in his lap gently and she purrs.
“I can’t let her stay long, but I figured she missed you and you missed her,” he looks at his fur-child with all the love in the world and for the first time since this morning, things felt somewhat calm and under control.
There’s a knock on the door and you scramble to grab Zoa who hisses when you try to pick her up. The nurse comes in and spots the cat, eyeing you guys suspiciously. You give her an awkward smile, one that’s trying to apologize for sneaking in a cat.
“Just get her out of here by the time shift change happens. Which is in,” she looks at her watch, “An hour,” she says and you nod.
“Thank you,” you wave her off and Jiyong, while he can’t pick much of anything up due to numbness in his hands, pets his cat the best he can. The room is silent for a minute other than the sound of the purring from Zoa.
“Thank you, he says suddenly, “For bringing her.”
“Yeah, it’s no problem," you gently smile.
“Were you able to get everything moved in?” He doesn’t look at you, only at his furbaby as the guys stand there feeling like they are watching an awkward movie.
“Yeah, Seunghyun was a big help and I got everything squared away.” You rock on your heels looking at the guys who look just as unsure as you do.
“As much as I want to keep her here, take her home. I’ll see her tomorrow,” he gives the cat a few kisses and snuggles before handing her to Seunghyun.
“You don’t want me to take her back?” you ask with a quirked brow.
“No, I want you to stay." Your breath hitches in your throat.
If you enjoyed please consider buying me a coffee
I'm working on Chapter 7 now and I'll tag you guys when it's out later today.

Do you think the Hogwarts houses are stereotyped quite a bit in fanfiction?
I know the obvious answer would be: yes, duh. I mean Exhibit A would definitely count the Hufflepuffs – and with good reason, as they are flanderized the most often and often reduced to meaningless fluff with bits of stuffing like a Christmas Turkey – and then you’d get the Ravenclaws, and it’s safe to say that almost all houses face this problem.
I’d love to hear your thoughts about it – apologies, if you already have – but I would like to talk about Gryffindor and Slytherin, particular with how they’re characterized with respect to each other.
Now, I know the books have treated Slytherins horribly. They’ve all been painted with the same brush and it is outright stated that not a single person in Slytherin is decent. (The book does try to showcase that people of other houses can and are terrible people – see Peter Pettigrew and Gilderoy Lockhart – but does nothing to counter the statement that all Slytherins are bad.)
So, it was wonderful to see people write Slytherins as people. People who are human and made mistakes while also pointing to Gryffindors shortcomings — however, I do think that in the spirit of the occasion, they’ve become the very thing they sought to destroy.
I feel as though ‘mean, bullies, blood-purist, dark-magic hating, stupid, quidditch obsessed, calling everyone a death-eater’ Gryffindors have become the norm nowadays. In contrast to this, all Slytherins are just absolute angels who are snarky and witty and dripping in intelligence and elegance and grace and wrinkle their noses daintily and delicately at such uncouth behavior, ‘tis the lord and the ladies of houses we’re talking about!
I feel like that came off a bit bitter, sorry, I really have no problem with someone characterizing them this way. It’s fanfiction, it’s supposed to be fun. But what does get on my nerves is when people start believing that it is that way. That everyone does hate Gryffindors. That there’s not a single good quality about it. That everyone in Gryffindor is under Dumbledore’s control and spits out pure, light-magic loving propaganda.
(There is proof, of course, that the Gryffindors are biased and quite ruthless in their rivalry with Slytherin – which seems to be mutual – as with the comment of “why don’t they throw all the Slytherins out?” in Chamber of Secrets and the sheer, electricity crackling tension with Gryffindor vs. Slytherin matches. But I think it’s quite shallow to strip them of their complexity.)
And I think somewhere along the way, people have come to see Gryffindor not with bold, courageous or brave hearted. But instead, people who are foolish, reckless and brimming with stupidity. The same way people view Slytherin as politically charged, fancy tea parties and gothic style dark academia vibes – which I can admit makes fabulous Pinterest Boards, I mean, have you seen them? – instead of people who are cunning, ambitious and resourceful.
Then, of course, you have the sheer disrespectful way they treat Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws, but this has already gotten too long—I’m so sorry—so, I’ll cut that tangent before it can spiral. Sorry for this long spiel! 😭😅
No worries about the long spiel, I get it. I talked before about how houses seem to be treated in-universe here, which is honestly not too different than how the fandom treats them (stereotypes galore, although the stereotypes are a little different).
I mean, McGonagall literally throws all the Slytherins out of the castle in DH, assuming none of them would want to stay and fight against their families (even though that's precisely what Sirius did). The fact that everyone believed Sirius was a traitor so easily because "his family was dark and Slytherin, it was in his blood".
How stressed Ron was about not being worthy of Gryffindor and wanting to be there so badly so his parents would be proud. Neville fearing he isn't worthy of Gryffindor's reputation. Draco saying he'd just leave if he was sorted into Hufflepuff, James saying the same about Slytherin, etc.
But the books show us that the house traits aren't everything when it comes to sorting. I talked before about a bunch of the NPC Hufflepuffs and how a lot of them aren't really the epitome of what Hufflepuff stands for. Draco isn't all that cunning in my opinion either. So, sorting is more complex than just what traits you have
The fandom is stereotyping the houses for sure (if way way less than back in the day, I think the fandom is chiller about it now) but so do all the characters in the books. These ideas about the houses didn't come out of nowhere.
Though I have to disagree on the no good Slytherins bit, I mean, the books didn't handle Slytherin well, but it's not as bad as some make it out to be. Snape, Slughorn, and even Draco (to a degree) are actually pretty good examples of Slytherins portrayed as people. Regulus is a non-entity character, but he's also in the books to push the idea that Hagrid, who said: "There’s not a single witch or wizard who went bad who wasn’t in Slytherin. You-Know-Who was one," he was wrong. Regulus is literally a star in the Leo (lion) constellation, the symbolism is ridiculously on the nose.
Lockhart, Quirrell, and Peter are all there as examples that Hagrid was and is wrong.
Sirius says: "Yes, but the world isn’t split into good people and Death Eaters" and he's the one the narrative treats as in the right in this regard.
Becouse not every mean person is a Death Eater and not everyone who isn't a Death Eater is good. Sirius grew up around Slytherins, and if we look at his first talk with James, while he doesn't like his family, he doesn't see Slytherin as the source of all evil the way Hagrid and James do.
Even the Snatcher in DH says that being in Slytherin and knowing where the Common Room is isn't enough for him to think Harry is with the DE — because he knows not all Slytherins are the same (Unlike McGonagall, just saying).
So, while it could've been done better, I don't think the books are that bad when it comes down to it. The wizarding world is too obsessed with houses, don't get me wrong. The characters in-universe treat houses like they're way too important (including Harry for most of the series), but the narrative itself goes out of its way to show the characters who tell all Slytherins are inherently evil are wrong.
(There were some easy things that could've been done to improve this point. Mention Quirrell and Lockhart were Ravenclaws in the books and not just on Pottermore, or have one Hufflepuff Death Eater. I always headcanoned Barty Jr as a Ravenclaw, so making that canon, would also serve this idea. Similarly, explicitly stating either Kingsley or Moody were in Slytherin to show some Slytherins on the good guys' side that aren't complicated like Snape and Slughorn)
I think JKR meant to make it more obvious than how it turned out and it might have been in a prior draft, but I still think the elements are there. (The epilogue was also meant to drive this point home with the "slytherin isn't all bad" talk. It was just clunky and came off really awkward and forced, in my opinion)
As for the fandom misconceptions of Gryffindor and Slytherin specifically, like, I'm not a fan, but it could be worse. Like, I think Houses are treated too much like aesthetics in parts of the fandom, but I've also seen plenty of people who have more interesting things to say about houses — it's a big fandom.
I would personally say the jock stupid Gryffindor annoys me way more than the Slytherins who can do no wrong (because of the effect it has on characters like Harry, Sirius, and Ron). I mean, jock is such an American concept that I wouldn't really call any of them jocks really, it just isn't the right vibe. And while there were definitely bullies in Gryffindor, there were bullies in Slytherin, Hufflepuff (the Hufflepuffs made Harry's life hell in 4th year, it wasn't just Slytherin!) and Ravenclaw (Luna's housemates are the ones that bully her). And Gryffindor has so many good traits. Courage, determination, and chivalry are good traits. All houses stand for traits that can be good under the right circumstances. It's part of the fun.
I generally dislike the shallow approach to houses as very surface level aesthetics when in the books it's anything but — plenty of characters don't really portray their own houses' values. Draco isn't subtle, Remus is a coward, Severus is constantly putting his life at risk, Zachariah Smith isn't kind, Ernie Macmillan cares more for the appearance of fairness than actually being fair, Crabbe & Goyle aren't cunning, Lockhart doesn't care to learn about anything basically, etc. And characters that show traits of other houses — Harry is cunning (it's a whole plot point that he was almost in Slytherin), Ron is ambitious, Hermione loves learning, etc. There are so many examples of characters not fitting their houses' various stereotypes, I just listed a few that came to mind.
But, then again, more simplistic aesthetics are easier ideas to work with and they are pretty — so I can see why it happened. It's a process of simplification of concepts that many characters have gone through as well. It's fandom, it happens. (I also think it's a movement that comes from a place of being edgy — liking Slytherin and hating Gryffindor is not what you're supposed to do, so there's the edgy, rebellious component to that opinion that people like)
I will say the house stereotypes in the fandom changed throughout the years, I remember back when the sorting quiz on Pottermore became a thing, people got really upset about getting a Slytherin. So, yeah, it's fandom, and things like this happen. Can't say it isn't annoying, but I don't really engage with it 🤷♀️

To be fair, I'm pretty sure he was always cool with experimenting with the Hexcore and as far as they knew- there were no true negative consequences to messing with it (sure Heimer warned them but we've seen that Jayce thinks he's out of date and overly restrictive in general, so I doubt he believed the Hexcore is dangerous)
We can hypothesize on the details but I think it's safe to say that Jayce's highest priority was saving the world. Jayce is very selfless, and I don't think he's the type of guy to jeopardize billions of lives out of sentimentality. "and runs to him instead" - I don't really have a comment on that, cause I think the visuals are a little ambiguous as to what's happening, but if you enjoy interpreting it that way I can vibe with that. "I sincerely hoped to avoid this" indicates to me that he was willing to kill Jayce. Also, at this point Viktor truly believes his plan will eliminate suffering so it's his highest priority for now.
I think we're pretty much on the same page here. He chooses to stay out of love and duty. My main thought is that if they had to choose between love and duty they would go for the latter.
4a. Based on the events we see in Arcane (which were different circumstances, albeit) I mainly say that because they can and do operate independently of each other. Although Jayce ultimately decides to resign and be a scientist, I'd argue he was primarily motivated by realizing that he can accomplish more good in the lab than as a councilor.
4b. For Jayce's part, I will still say that while mage Viktor was a huge inspiration I'd argue he always wanted to do something to help and empower people (based on what he said about being inspired by his dad) and would've had that drive whether he became interested
4c. "knows that Jayce and him creating Hextech will lead to the world's destruction" I think that the whole time travel stuff was very vaguely explained. Was Hextech always going to be created regardless, and Jayce is simply being set on the path to destroy it? Why not just warn his past self? There's lots for room for speculation. Also, as we saw in the AU, Hextech is not necessarily invented because of his intervention, so it stands to reason that the way Arcane's multiverse works is more complex than single events determining if an apocalypse happens or not. We do know that Viktor's current self has been living with the guilt of destroying humanity for who knows how long, so I don't think it's in character for Viktor to unnecessarily risk causing it again.
In any case, thanks for sharing your thoughts. As I've said before, there are many ways to interpret the events of the show and if you prefer to see it in another light I think that's cool.
TLDR; “A hero will sacrifice the person they love to save the world, but a villain will sacrifice the world for the person they love.” - Jayce and Viktor are both “heroes.”
I’ve seen many posts claiming Jayce and Viktor “can’t live without the other,” or “will always choose each other over the world.”
This is a huge mischaracterization IMO.
1. Their morals and sense of duty are more important to them than each other
- and that’s healthy! In fact, the foundation of their relationship is their shared values, goals, and convictions.
We see from their first interactions that both Jayce and Viktor want to use science to change the world for the better.
When Viktor realized that shared vision was gone their partnership ended. This rift was exacerbated when Viktor was set on the Glorious Evolution.
But they always had the same underlying goal- to do good for the world. They just disagreed on how.
Their bond was fully rekindled when they had the shared determination to sacrifice themselves to protect the future.
2. Jayce and Viktor are willing to sacrifice anything, even each other, for (what they think is) the greater good
2a. Jayce was willing to kill Viktor to prevent the glorious evolution.
After witnessing the horrific future, Jayce was already determined to do everything in his power to prevent it. His promise to mage Viktor strengthened that conviction even more. When Viktor refused to listen, he murdered him (and he would’ve been gone for good without Singed)
2b. Viktor was willing to kill Jayce for standing in the way of the Glorious Evolution
Viktor genuinely believed his plan will save humanity from suffering and imperfection. When Jayce refused to join him, he would’ve choked him to death (if it weren’t for Mel)
Watering down their ending to just “choosing each other” devalues their sacrifice. They are both incredibly principled and driven by a sense of duty toward humanity.
4. Exaggerating a relationship to be obsessive and codependent doesn’t make it better.
Jayce and Viktor are well adjusted adults; they have their own lives outside of each other. True, their stories are intertwined, but they don’t rely other person for their whole sense of self.
Devotion and commitment are great! Obsession to the point of “this person is the single most important thing my whole life revolves around” is toxic.
Jayce and Viktor already have a well written relationship in canon- why take it to the extreme to the point of being unhealthy?
I think of this especially when people say “Jayce would’ve committed suicide if he survived” but that’s another conversation.
Thanks to @event0horizon for inspiring some of these points

THAT IS KARAN'S STORY#so THEN the biggest theme of veneer is the art of being consumed#that is why the portals have teeth and [turn you into the funny fungus] eat you alive#there u go. now everything makes sense forever#i gotta draw more trains#veneer#cruddy rambles

I've spoken briefly about this before and, again, it's usually something I leave in the little details of Charlotte's portrayal, but it's really been on my mind lately so I wanted to write out some of the prominent traits that continue to establish that, despite having gradually accumulated more experience, capital, and property over the years, Charlotte remains coded as working-class. It is crucial to both the narrative itself and her actual existence as a vessel for the primordial void, also known as Khaos. This means that she still has no ( legal ) credit cards and continues to thrift almost all her belongings, including her clothes, books, and furniture ( with the exception of shoes and appliances.) If you are someone who regularly meets up with Charlotte, you might begin to notice ( if you are perceptive ) that while she may be variably early, right on time, or show up in some unexpected state, she is rarely ever late and certainly never without a legitimate reason as to why. It is also not uncommon for Charlotte to juggle multiple jobs at the same time, and the only time she'll agree to a single job, at the exclusion of all other work is if she knows that that one job will be worth it. Related to this is the fact that Charlotte has a very hard time saying no to job offers; it's a habit ( read: stress response ) she is trying to unlearn, but it continues to be a struggle. Lastly, despite having successfully taken on leadership roles in the past, Charlotte expresses a strong dislike for being consigned to a "boss" role as she still much prefers to be hands on, in the action, at risk rather than sitting back and letting others do the work. She becomes restless if she finds herself "at the top" or in the position of too much obvious power; recall the adage about how it is lonely at the top, and how isolation is not something that the void's vessel can allow. She needs to be among people; she needs to be present to catalyze chaos. That being said, this doesn't mean that Charlotte simply allows herself to be treated or thrown away as a mere lackey or just another body, but that is still part of the struggle, isn't it?
#you'll also notice that char is very smart about the way she stores and maintains what belongings she DOES have#ie. her money her safe“houses” her work equipment#within the bounds of her control - char doesn't go out of her way to destroy or wreck her own stuff#if chaos happens then there's nothing she can do; and other people's stuff is fair game#but her own shit? she takes care of that shit best she can#it ties into the fact that she doesn't have a set or consistent sleep schedule#but for her work she will be up at the crack of dawn if needed; she will be out all night; she will be up and working days on end if needed#she also enjoys working in teams and if you've ever had to have char as a co-worker u'll know she's actually nice to work with#still untrustworthy still chaotic still annoying as fuck - but also nice#she prefers to work with equals rather than take any kind of control over others. control being the other side of the coin to chaos :')#she's also worked such a HUGE myriad of what society considers labour / “entry-level” / “unskilled” jobs...#...in order to learn from an inconspicuous position.#i could go on and on but like i said - i'll leave in the writing#i'm so proud of my chaos goblin#thinking about how at one point in her timeline she worked and played her way all the way to accidentally taking out a crime boss...#....then IMMEDIATELY did a 180 going “nope not for me” and vanished#too lonely at the top and that's no fun for this one :(#( smth smth the fact that she's just a vessel is too ingrained in her sense of self for her to actually stand out and be leader )#( smth smth even pawn-turned-queens revert back to pawns at the end of the game )#and as always - if you actually read through all this IM SO THANKFUL FOR U MWAH <3

I don’t disagree entirely but also Ursula preyed on Ariel’s terrible situation and naivety caused by her youth in order to get a desperate teenager to make a bad deal. Idk I’m always against preying on the young and the desperate who are forced to take terrible offers to escape bad situations.
#her father destroyed her stuff and made it clear she was not safe to express herself in his kingdom which was THE SEA.#how else do you escape the sea#you’re already in love with humanity#with a human#you get legs and you lose your voice in hope you can be free#also this is why Rumpelstiltskin is also wrong in his fairytale as well.#they prey on people who have no choice but to make a terrible bargain#and they are defeated because they don’t deserve to win#unless you want to tell the story another way which is totally justified#we all have our interpretations

i feel like people are skimming over the uk riots in a way that makes me want to tear my hair out. muslims in the uk are in active danger. immigrants in the uk are in active danger. refugees in the uk are in active danger. people of colour in the uk are in active danger. asian communities in the uk are in active danger. black communities in the uk are in active danger.
there are massive far right riots throughout the country right now and people like fucking elon musk and nigel farage are inciting it and still have a platform to speak. people have used three young girls deaths, people's genuine grief in southport, to try and gain traction for their own racist bullshit and it's working.
a lot of refugee charities have been forced to close leaving many people without support, homes, funding, food, etc. if you aren't able to donate please consider sending a message via the conversation over borders campaign! it will send a hopeful, welcoming letter to a refugee in the uk. there is also a guide to staying safe here.
please do your own research and donate to refugee charities, anti-islamophobia charities, mosques who are trying to rebuild after being destroyed, counter protesters, here are some i've heard positive things about but the list is extensive; southport strong together (support for the southport victims and their families), southport mosque rebuilding, riot repair fund, middlesbrough vulnerable residents, nasir mosque rebuilding, hull help for refugees, bristol welcomes migrants,
#i know there's so much going on but if you can take a second to support these groups !!#i just feel kinda sick#i wanted to add with so many people seeing this that i'm white im british and im extremely privileged to not be in active danger right now#i don't want to take away from people speaking out about this who are in a place of danger#this was really only meant to be for my followers#but i'm glad more people get to see what's happening and donate !!!
