They work for about an hour before steph sighs tiredly causing piper to look up from the paper. They look at each other for a moment before piper looks back at the paper. Ok steph can work with this. Steph put her hand on Piper's arm.

“So Piper, I think I'm done studying for tonight. Wanna get out of here?”

“Where would we go? It's getting kinda late. I'm not sure anything is still open.”

“We could go to my place. My dads at some dumb charity ball all night so we could do whatever." Piper blushes at this and again for some reason Steph thinks it's cute.

“Uh ok sure.” perfect.

“Alright let's go nerd.” Steph grabs Piper's hand and drags her out of pasquallis. She already paid for their drinks so she drags Piper out to her car and drives to her house. When they arrive she leads Piper to the living room and turns on some random trashy Christmas movie. They sit in silence before Piper speaks up.

“Why'd you invite me to your house steph?”

“What do you mean why?”

“I mean i'm a nerd and your the stephanie lauter. The most popular girl in hatchetfield high. You're not supposed to want to hang out with people like me.”

“Eh, I can hang out with whoever I want. I dont give a shit what anyone may say about me hanging out with you. You're smart, funny, nice, and you're kinda cute” they both stay silent not sure what to say next. Piper yawns and accidentally leans her head on stephs shoulder. Steph blushes and turns to look at piper.

“You tired pie?” Steph isn't exactly sure where that nickname came from but she doesn't really care. Piper blushes and looks up at steph.

“A little. Do you mind if i?”

“Not at all. Hey, I kinda enjoyed tonight. I know we were studying but your good company. So I was wondering if you maybe wanted to go out again? I was thinking maybe dinner at Miss retros or something.”

“Do you mean like a date?”

“I guess so yeah. So what do you say?”

“Sounds nice.”

Anyway, I am also obsessed. I fucking love these characters so much, thinking about the kinda post MH story for them is so special to me. I'm SO glad you like the names. I love them. I think they're so cute. And now I'm really curious what names you guys game the twins, like how similar are the names, if the naming convention itself is similar?

You don't have to tell me, obviously, but I do wonder.

I remembered more about the post MH storyline that me and my boyfriend talked about AGES ago (before I'd decided that Tim and Brian would have another kid, and before that kid was named Jesse after Jessica), which was specifically about the 'canon' way that this story goes (not the 'everyone lives' AU). Because it ended up being that like, Tim did end up getting back in touch with Jessica because she and Taylor had a kid who ended up in the same school as Birdie did I think? (small fucking world huh 💀 everyone's turning up at this damn school).

Anyway Jessica was like, picking her kid up from school and she saw Tim while he was waiting in the playground, and just kinda sidled up to him to see if it actually was, and like, sure the conversation was a bit awkward, but it was still nice. (I know Jessica doesn't remember MH in the comics but she does here, just like she has a kid here, and isn't being actively fucked with by the operator and skully lol)

Anyway, then Birdie came out of class and over to Tim, and Jessica had this little moment looking at her where she was like "god this kid looks just like Jay" and she doesn't get a chance to ask Tim about it, because then her own kid is coming out of class and they have to rush off to get to his after school club or whatever, but the next day when she sees Tim again, Jessica just quietly asks if Birdie is both Tim's and Jay's, and Tim gets like, really quiet and just gives her a tight little nod and that's the end of the conversation.

But like, over the next term or two, they slowly talk more and eventually Tim admits that Jay died at the end of MH and that he lied about it to Jessica back then because he thought it was the right thing to do. They become good friends though, and they take their kids to the part together and stuff, so Birdie has a "cousin" in Jessica's kid who she becomes fast friends with, and their little family grows. Because like, yeah they have Brian's family, but they don't get to see them super often.

Side note, Brian having a very big, very lovely family is a huge HC for my boyfriend and I. We have a whole cowboy/wild west au that ended up accidentally revolving around Brian having a huge family who are just, really really accepting of queerness. Like, Jay was a trans guy, Alex was a trans girl, Tim and Brian were gay/bi etc, and the four of them were poly, and brians mum was just like, cool, can one of you PLEASE go wrangle the younger kids for dinner??? It's great. She also makes Alex her first dress, and teaches her 'how to be a woman', like, sewing, cooking, all the stuff a lady in the 1800's wild west would need to know.

I love that woman. She's the best character in that whole AU. She treated Tim like one of her own sons because he and Brian had been friends since they were kids, except Tim was CLEARLY her favourite and she was an absolute menace (affectionately) to Brian, who was the oldest or one of the oldest out of, like, 7 or 8 kids I think.

Best au ever lol.

SPEAKING OF BRIAN ACTUALLY, you wanna know one of the ideas I went through before settling on Brian showing up as a teacher at Birdies school? I'm gonna tell you anyway so please nod.

At first, I was gonna have it so that Tim and Brian only met each other again when they were both in, like, their late fifties to early sixties. Like, Birdie would be all grown up and living with her wife (oh yeah Birdie's a lesbian and ends up with a wife) and one day Tim and Brian just, run into each other, and it takes them both a moment to place where the hell they recognised each other from, but eventually they do, and just like in 'canon' S,IL they both have a big crying reunion about it. And then it was just them being old men falling in love with each other all over again, y'know?

It was SUCH a cute idea. It was so fucking cute. I still love it.

{Finished reading Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn}

hahahahaahaahaah!!!!! nobody told me I would be sobbing!!! I should have known, but instead I blindly and happily danced through these books until my heart was ripped out and thrown on the ground!!

(major spoilers below bc I need to write it out in order to begin processing what the hell happened?!)

Maeve is so evil I literally cannot process it. The entire scene with her on the beach with Aelin, Gavriel, Fenrys, Lorcan, Manon, Elide.... oh my heart.. I don't think I breathed during that entire scene. I literally had to stop reading to ready myself when Aelin took those lashes...

Rowan getting to the beach and growling out "where is my wife" actually shattered my heart. Maeve talking about how she faked the mating bond with Rowan and Lyria, and that Rowan and Aelin were actually mates?! ughhhhh His Fireheart. His equal, his friend, his lover. His wife. His mate. stopppppppppp i'm sobbbinnngggg

Lorcan realizing what he had actually done, what he didn't do for Aelin and Rowan.. him sobbing because he realized he destroyed everything and betrayed them... the way I know his heart just shattered over and over at Elide saying she wished he suffered forever and then completely ignoring him. the way he goes to Rowan and says he will go with him to save Aelin... oh my gosh idk why I love him so much, but I really do and I'm gonna need a Lorcan redemption arc in the next book or I will create a headcanon that nobody will ever be able to convince me isn't real. fix it bro!!

Lysandra being willing to pretend to be Aelin, to take Rowan as her king and sire children with Aedion to keep up the guise if needed.... ohhhh... to willingly give up her freedom for Aelin, for the world, after everything she went through... that woman is amazing.

I'm so mad that I like Aelin and Dorian so much bc I don't want either one of them to die for this stupid bullshit Elena pulled 1000 years ago!!! I'm so mad that I love all these damn characters so much!!

Chaol and Yrene getting married is honestly so damn cute okay!?! The life-bond?! ugh I love them so much. such a cute little bright spot in these books. the way that she's the light for his darkness is so fucking cute (and so elriel coded). Chaol seeing the note that Yrene carries with her and recognizing the handwriting!! ohhhhh man

All the favors that Aelin called in, everyone showing up for her like the damn Avengers movie?! Literally everyone, every single person she showed kindness to over her life, everyone showing up and being there to fight for her and with her to save the damn world.. Ansel, Ilias, Galan, the thousands and thousands they brought with them... and Aelin doesn't even know it. Rowan's cousins turning on Maeve's fleet in the battle?! ohhhh my heart is made of tears.

The 13 showing up because Abraxos (sweetest lil flower sniffing bby) went and found them, and they all followed bc they knew he would bring them to Manon. And how they fought instantly, and fell into step with Rowan, Dorian, and Aedion!?

How when Gavriel was called to Maeve, he left his shield around not only Aedion, but also Lysandra because he just knows and cares about them even if Aedion wants nothing to do with him. :( The way Gavriel has been kind of a sweetie the whole time and I just want to hug everyone in this damn series.

gosh, the way that everything is just connected, even the gods are represented in so many of them. the way the threads are there and always have been, pushing everyone along, pushing the plot along and putting all the puzzle pieces together slowly and perfectly and now it's all coming together. Ugh a series in which a re-read is well worth it so you can pick up on all the little bits and pieces throughout!! I can't wait to read theories and breakdowns and everything that people have connected and figured out over the years once I finish Kingdom of Ash!!

Wade had always been eerily astute when it came to reading his boyfriend’s emotions and body language, especially when it seemed like such a hassle for everyone else. So a deep sigh from across the room was more than enough to catch his attention. The two had been sitting on opposite sides of his living room and looking at their respective devices, an activity Wade had only recently learned the name of: Parallel Play.

“What’s up, baby?” He asked, dropping his custom red and black Nintendo DS on his chest. Keaton looked up, clearly having not expected for Wade to take such obvious notice of the sound he had made.

“Oh, er, it’s nothing, don’t worry about it,” Keaton waved his hand dismissively, still half-focused on his phone. Wade heaved himself off of his couch and placed his hand between Keaton’s face and the screen.

"Talk to me. Even if it really is nothing, it was enough to make you sigh like your favourite celebrity turned out to be another asshole, so talk to me."

Keaton’s face burned slightly as he set his phone down. "You're not going to let it be until I talk, are you?"

"Do you really have to ask me that question?" Wade grinned and nudged Keaton over slightly, squeezing into what little space was left on the armchair his husband had been occupying.

"Fine. I want to make a trip to the corner store but it's late and I don't want to bother you by asking you to put on pants and you know how I am about spending money--" Before he could finish, Wade had leaned in, his lips ghosting Keaton’s own and his nose bumping against theirs.

"All you had to say was you wanted some snackies and I would've had my pants on before you had even gotten up. Keke, you know I'll never say no to food, no matter the time, and don't beat yourself up about spending, I am flush with cash. Especially cash for snacks." Wade whispered intensely before closing the minute gap between their lips. "Fuck, I love you."

Keaton blinked, somewhat surprised. "Damn, didn't know such a proposition would get you so hot and bothered or I would've asked earlier."

Wade giggled excitedly and crawled off of him to throw on some pants- for once, without argument. Keaton popped up and threw a Bad Batdz Maru sweatshirt on over his tank top, a gift from Wade when he had taken a contract in Japan.

“God, you’re so cute, I just want to crush you down into a tiny ball and hurl you across the room,” Wade growled happily through gritted teeth as he squeezed Keaton’s cheeks before picking up his keys. “Let’s blow this popsicle stand!”

As soon as they entered the hallway, Wade quickened his pace just enough to goad Keaton into chasing him down the stairs and out onto the street before launching himself onto Wade’s back and transforming into a sloth, wrapping his arms around his shoulders and his legs around his ribs.

“Gotcha!” Keaton announced triumphantly.

“Ohh noo, I’m going to succumb to sloth fever, blehhh,” Wade stuck out his tongue in a mocking performance of dying from a made-up illness, making Keaton chuckle. “Shall I carry you all the way, like a mighty steed?”

Keaton considered this, then slid off of his husband’s back and transformed back into his human self. “Eh, might get some especially weird looks if the humanoid equivalent of an overboiled hotdog is seen carrying a giant sloth on his back, don’t you think?”

“Sounds like your average Canadian New Yorker to me. Also,” Wade then gasped dramatically, “rude!”

The two walked hand-in-hand down the dark street, laughing and talking loud despite it being nearly midnight. They couldn’t care less about the few shouts they heard to shut up, it was those people’s choice to live in the city that “never sleeps!” When they reached the corner store, Wade held open the door for his husband.

“After you, fine sir.”

“Oh, how chivalrous. Don’t let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya on the way in.” Keaton snickered, winking as he wandered into the linoleum-lined oasis, breathing in the smell of floor wax and the heat from the slushie machine. He went straight for the beverage aisle, debating on what he wanted, while Wade scoped out the chips. Love Shack by The B-52s played on the overhead speakers.

“Sign says, ‘Stay away, fools! ‘Cause love rules, at the Lo-o-ve Shack…’” Keaton mumbled to himself under his breath with a smile as he selected a bottle of Pepsi, moving onto the freezer section and calling over his shoulder, “Wadey, you want any ice cream?”

“Ah-huh?” Wade’s muffled voice came over the shelves, prompting Keaton to look around the corner, where he spied Wade with his entire head under the blue raspberry slushie nozzle, mouth steadily filling with unnaturally blue slush. Keaton snorted, immediately slapping his hand over his mouth.

“Wade! We’re gonna get kicked out!” He hissed through silent laughter. Wade swallowed thickly, flicking off the nozzle and angling his head out from under it, wiping his lips with the back of his hand.

“They can ban the mercenary from the convenience store, but they can’t ban the convenience store from the mercenary,” he stated matter-of-factly, his teeth practically glowing blue. “And yes, of course I want ice cream.”

“That makes… no sense, but moving on, their selection’s kind of shit if I’m going to be honest. You want Chunky Monkey or Moose Tracks?”

“Mmnm… Chunky Monkey, please.”

“You got it, hunky monkey. Also you’ve got some slush on your chin.”

“Come lick it off, then!” Wade called eagerly as Keaton turned his back to him.

“Veronica Sawyer prefers cherry!”

Wade groaned in light annoyance while Keaton smiled to himself and picked up the ice cream; a pint of Chunky Monkey for Wade, and a chocolate drumstick without nuts for himself. Lastly, he slipped into the candy aisle and picked up a classic Herhsey’s bar. He then met Wade at the counter, who placed down a large bag of Takis and two large slushies, one blue and one red. Keaton watched him adoringly as he paid for it all, taking the two plastic bags and handing Keaton the slushies to carry.

“You really are the best partner, Wade,” Keaton praised as they made their way home. Wade blushed and smiled crookedly, his mind flooded with insecurity at the word “best.”

“I don’t know, I wouldn’t say that…”

“Hey, just because I love you doesn’t mean I’m dismissing that you’re still a real asshole sometimes… but I love you. Don’t forget that, okay?”

Wade swallowed, his lip trembling slightly before bumping affectionately against Keaton as they walked.

“Thank you.”

“Don’t mention it… pookiebear.”

The two smiled at each other in the yellow lamplight.

“Can I get a sip of my slushie?”

“Yes, Wade.”

The Tiniest Councilor by Quiet_Shadow is one I read almost so many damn times because of how cute and fluffy it is. This is my ultimate comfort fic because Plo plus younglings while in a council meeting is more than enough to give comfort to my constantly bleeding heart.

(seriously tho, if you can handle violence (there's a LOT ngl, it is not a show for kids) then you should watch Arcane, the people who make it have made it pretty clear that it's gonna be canon, and the next season is out in November; but also leaving shipping aside it's just REALLY, REALLY GOOD)

Okay so the scene where Glimmer, Adora, and Bow hide in a shop and then end up arguing with the shopkeeper is like, fascinating on multiple levels

Because on the one hand: I can't blame the townspeople for just keeping their head down and trying to get out alive. On the other hand, reporting them to the Horde isn't cool; they could just pretend not to be suspicious of these guys; there are in fact lots of places on the spectrum between "actively collaborating with one's oppressors" and "mounting a full-scale armed rebellion."

But on the other other hand I also think it's interesting that Adora's the only one of the three who's like "nah dude just let these people live their lives omg," something about Adora having lived in an oppressive environment for her whole childhood maybe

(I've seen a fan discussion suggest that there aren't actually any First Ones left--that when Light Hope made it so Adora came through the portal, the portal itself went back in time. I like that explanation in part because it means in my fic I don't have to figure out why Adora doesn't go looking for her birth family. Which tbh most fic-writers don't worry about anyway lol.)

Back with the rebellion, poor Catra is once again trying not to lose her lunch because they've all teleported.

I wish I was better at conveying my thoughts more eloquently but here's my very late journal of my thoughts on ep12.

After some technical difficulties I finally watched ep12 and I've go to say:

I LOVED IT SO DAMN MUCH YOU GUYS!!!! THIS SEASON FINALE WAS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!!!

That opening scene was so tense, you could literally cut the tension with a knife because of how thick it is.

Manaria was being a bitch again, I have a section on that so wait for that. The amulet was shown again but it wasn't used, I'm still crossing my fingers though because they keep focusing on that thing way too much! The scales were used in this episode however and DEAR GOD the that Ceremony had me at the edge of my seat clenchining my ass! I was legit going to die when Rae pulled out that twig!

I went from saying" never let this girl cook again" to laughing with joy when the tree sprouted up! Also can we talk about the tree for a minute? Imagine my fucking shock and hysterical breamdowm as a Lumity fan when I saw that tree for the first time! It was a tree that represented their love! You know what tree also basically does the same thing?

Rae's confession was so raw and emotional to where you can feel the love flowing out of her words and you can see this is different from her other confessions cause she saying what she's wanted to say since the start and without hiding behind a mask this time. And when Clair admitted her feelings by pulling Rae away to protect her it was super sweet and shows that she's truly grown close to Rae. She even starts calling Rae by her name near the end of the episode instead of calling her "Commoner".

Clair was also great this episode, and she actually took my advice from my episode 11 rent post and reflected on her time with Rae. Her Freudian slips and gay panic because she's finally starting to fall for Rae were super cute and gave me a lot of "Ayo pause, run that back" moments!

5. Honestly, I'd steal your number 5 bestie, 6Teen was great. In the spirit of obscure animated TV shows, though - and It's been so damn long I forgot the names of some characters, had to look up the guy's name, lol - Zero and Vin from The Invisible Network of Kids. It left a profound impact on my psyche because they did something really fucked up in the last episode, plus left us on a cliffhanger, and then the show got cancelled </3 rip. Haven't watched it in a decade or so. No idea if it holds up, but I was super invested in these kids doing spy work and experiencing insane levels of trauma that would be ignored come each new episode </3. I was literally 8 years old <3. It has a TV tropes page and the entire show is availible on the Internet Archive, of all places, sooooooo I may browse. For nostalgia's sake. There are literally zero gifs available for this one, because. I mean. No shit.

OFFSCREEN!!!! they didn't even last 2 weeks!!!! fuck!!!!!!!! I don't like them. But I used to. Playlist, for proof. I feel like this counts, because I shipped them when I first watched the show as it aired (I was 10 when the show started), but I did still ship the pairing until well into my teens (16 or so) before I wised up (the show made them very bad in a really boring way. Not that they weren't bad before. Love how they both do things that are otherwise reprehensible but the show frames them as romantic for some fucking reason </3 I was like 13 when I saw this kiss on screen. They're lucky I did research and didn't just take it at face value or I could've gotten some really bad ideas about what's healthy in a situation like this!).

8. Zikki (Zane/Rikki), H20: Just Add Water;

Season 3 does not exist <3 [also, the way they wrote the 'cheating' plotline was fucked up. That woman planted one on him!!! he did not consent!!! Why are we supposed to be blaming him for being sexually harassed in the workplace!!! No!!!]. Still ship them fr fr.

Ignoring the horrendous movie adaptation, when I read the hp books I basically just defaulted to shipping whatever was canon. Luckily for me, the canon hp ships are actually pretty good ones! If you ignore the canaries in the room. (I. Do not. Famously. Well. Infamously.) As for Hinny, whilst its a garbage ship name, the pairing itself is pretty great <3

Shoker is a major missed opportunity in ME, and I've been mad about the choices for my fem!shep for YEARS because. Look. Kaiden she did not cheat on you. You left!! You accused her of being evil and fucked off after she was resurrected!! what else was she supposed to think other than 'guess he doesn't want to date me anymore. Rude.' And. You could have sex with Jack but not romance her, that was locked to male characters >:| biphobia [Jack can have sexual relations with women, but her only real connections are to men. Rude!]. And, Liara in my games always turned herself down for romance because she assumed my shep wanted to date Kaiden because she's not a total dick to him and there's no way for me to clarify otherwise, also people making assumptions :/ not great. Plus Li becomes the shadow broker and it's a whole thing, so that doesn't really work out narratively for me anyway. Can't romance Miranda. Can't romance Tali (wouldn't anyway - Tali/Garrus <3). Refuse to romance Garrus that is just so platonic a dynamic it's not even funny. Jacob cheats and dips, so fuck him. Like... all of the fem!shep romances are terrible (or Trainor, I guess, but she's... kind of. Nobody. She's Just There. Sorry. It's not narratively interesting enough for me.) and Joker was right there and augh. Augh! Still ship. Still mad about it. Hatboy Project is doing the lord's work! I salute thee soldier in thine endeavours. Waiting to replay LE until it's been finished <3.
