In hindsight, I'm so glad that Trevor Morris never did the soundtrack for Veilguard. I can't imagine if he came up with another track as moving and grand as Lost Elf / Dark Solas Theme or anything else he made for Inquisition, only to have it attached to this corporate dumpster-fire of a game.

Obviously a lot of season 2 focuses on Jinx's compassion and love and kindness, what with Sevika's new arm, getting her family back, and everything with Isha. But one scene that really struck me is when Ekko tries to talk her off that roof. She pulls the trigger again and again before he can even speak cause she knows he'll change her mind. But what struck out at me was that, when he complains about being blown up, she opts instead to throw herself from the roof. She had it all planned out but would choose to improvise rather than harm someone who considers her a loved one.

can I just say, I genuinely love working with stories that have a set destination the audience is aware of (and partially why I love tragedies so much), because knowledge does so much inherent work for tension and stakes. Maximus, after a long time collecting items, and keeping his great project in secret...he finally managed to CREATE THE NUCLEAR BOMB!!! The SDAB Project or as Maximus would say, it means Self defense atomic bomb.

He did this after everything the federation took from him, first they took away his son Trump(et), and then his daughter AI Sofia...he said he will leave the bomb hidden for now just in case.

Maximus has already lost so much in his life since arriving on the island, and even after he recently broke up with Aypierre, imagine when he finds out that Aypierre's dream/memory was erased? One thing is certain: The Federation messed with the wrong person.

im watching a playthrough of Dangan Ronpa (the third game) with my partner and i have thoughts. its definitely one of those things that were ruined by a fandom because they were too young for it. dont get me wrong, the characters are so out-there and unique they lend themselves to be perfect shipping war candidates, but there is seriously a wealth of artistic value to the games. watching through it ive been delighted with the artistic direction and sound design. the OST is dripping with personality and whimsy. its all around a fucking hoot to watch. its goofy and leans into the absurdity of it's setting without sacrificing sincere moments of the story. the murder mysteries are solid and engaging. Monokuma and his kubs are the stupidest motherfuckers ive ever seen and are hilarious whenever they show up. Ouma is there. ive had the most fun interpreting the ultimates as different flavours of neurodivergent and even if their role is short (i.e. theyre an early game victim/culprit) they have complexities. DR is genuinely cool as hell, if youve ever been interested in it i recommend tackling the playthroughs to enjoy the art of it - there really is nothing like it and i think we're all grown up enough to see the beauty in the absurd.

One thing I want to say about the Vengeance Saga, is the instrumentation was so, so good. It's probably the most video game-y sounding saga yet, especially Charybdis and Six Hundred Strike. Which fits well with how video game-y and anime the plot got.

But also Charybdis in particular is incredibly synth-y and giving me Jeff Wayne's War of The Worlds soundtrack vibes. Very otherworldly.

Absolutely loved the strings in I'm Not Sorry For Loving You as well. The minor key slide (reminiscent of the strings in Puppeter), not just at the end of the song but building up from the beginning, lingering in the background... chills. Isn't Penelope's instrument the viola? If there was indeed viola in that track it would fit so well.
