Every umbrella academy character ranked (seasons 1-4)
After that shitshow of a fourth season, i felt it necessary to redo this.
#36 -The Sparrows (Jayme, Alphonso, Fae etc.)
The show had no clue what to do with these characters. They sit around being evil for a little while only to promptly die within four episodes. Also one of them is a fucking cube?!? Whats up with that?
#35 - Sloane
How come she disappears in season 4 but not sparrow Ben? So much of this makes no sense.
#34 -Sparrow Ben
I hate this character with my whole being. He goes around calling people emo as if HE DOESNT WAKE UP EVERY MORNING WITH A SCOWL ON HIS STUPID FACE AND EMO HAIR ON HIS STUPID FOREHEAD. He's so rude and awful and i'm given no reason by the show to give a shit where he ends up.
#33 -Carl Cooper
This one speaks for itself.
#32 -Reggie's wife
The two of them annoyed me so much.
#31 -Viktor
Moochy emo sod. Elliott Page's acting got progressively worse throughout the series (and i like Elliott Page, but this wasnt his best work.)- season 1 Vanya was tolerable, beyond that i couldn't stand this character. All his jokes land flat and he has the charisma of a piece of cardboard.
#30 -Season 4 Five
For the sake of this ranking, i am treating seasons 1-3 Five and season 4 Five as seperate characters. Seems like the writers were doing the same. What the fuck, guys? How do you bulldoze a character this badly?
Season 4 Five was unfunny, selfish, cowardly, and most of all on a different plane of being from the Five we all knew and loved. Screw you, season 4 Five, you're not canon.
#29 -Season 4 Lila
I'm treating Lila the same way. Season 4 Lila was an injustice to seasons 2-3 Lila.
#28 -Harlan
Couldn't care less about him. He represents to me when the umbrella academy started going to shit in season 3.
#27 -Jennifer
Again, we are given no reason to care about her.
#26 -Pogo
He was just there for the exposition. They never explained why Reggie was doing experiments on monkeys??
#25 -Reggie
He was quite a good villain but i still hate him. Really goofy at times, too.
#24 -Jean and Gene
They were quite good actually. If season 4 wasn't a dumpster fire, i reckon they'd have been able to really shine.
#23 -Cha Cha
This is getting into better territory. I liked Cha Cha, she was badass, but not well developed.
#22 -Detective Patch
Again, i liked her, but she wasn't given much time to develop as a character.
#21 -The Swedes
They were funny, whimsical villains that were fun to watch on screen. Funny and whimsical are two adjectives that TUA used to embody.
#20 -Elliott
My guy just wanted to eat fish and be a conspiracy theorist đ
#19 -Sissy
Welcome back, Sheldon's mum.
In all seriousness, she was well acted despite Viktor's actor giving her nothing to work with, so props to her.
#18 -Dave
WE GOT ZERO MENTIONS OF DAVE IN SEASONS 3-4?!? DESPITE HIM BEING A HUGE PART OF KLAUS'S CHARACTER?!?! WHEN I CATCH YOU WRITERS-
#17 -Destiny's children
I am in fact an active member
#16 -Luther
I have bumped Luther up my list because in seasons 3-4 he sort of embraces his goofiness, but in seasons 1-2 he is an insufferable, incestuous moron. He is up here for good character development and i wished he could have ended up with Sloane.
#15 -Agnes
She was really cute and sweet, i liked her a lot. RIP season 1, you were peak.
#14 -Herb and Dot
They were sweet and funny too, and i miss the whole idea of the time commission.
#13 -Kenny's mum
An honourable mention
#12 -Grace
Grace was super well performed and poignant. I have no issues with Grace.
#11 -Stan
Live, laugh, love Stan. I hate that the trauma of losing him was never mentioned in season 4 for Diego or Lila.
My top 10
#10 -Lenoard Peabody/ Harold Jenkins

I stand by him being one of the best-acted and most cleverly written villains of all time. He is not only a well-executed surprise villain, but a scarily accurate one, and the actor plays him to perfection. We even start to like him before the cracks show. Also he looks like a creepy version of Lin Manuel Miranda.
#9 -Ray

Season 4 did Ray DIRTY. It was completely out of character for him to just walk out. They could have at least have him die in a tragic accident or something. Season 2 Ray is the perfect, most charismatic, ideal man and i hold him in my heart forever and in my head Alison and Ray ended up together.
#8 -Hazel

He had one of the best arcs on the show, period. Continues to represent everything good about the first two seasons of TUA. He was flawed, he was human, he was loveable.
#7 -Umbrella Ben

He seemed like he could have been a brilliant character with more screen time. His sacrifice in season 2 was a genuinely moving moment. The backstreet boys moment is SO FUNNY and his and Klaus's dynamic is something i really miss.
#6 -The Handler

We don't appreciate The Handler enough. The show started rolling downhill as soon as The Handler was gone. She was the glue that held the show together, one of the best villains/antagonists in TV history.
#5 -Allison

Yes, season 3 Allison made some stupid choices and did some terrible things, but a lot of it came from grief and she redeemed herself in season 4 imo. Seasons 1-2 Allison was one of the most charismatic, endearing and empathetic characters on the show.
#4 -Seasons 1-2 Lila

I love you. I miss you. Come back to me.
#3 -Diego

Bumped up the list for being a CONSISTENTLY good character who is flawdd but still extremely loveable and hilarious.
#2 -Seasons 1-3 Five

Seasons 1-3 Five would shoot season 4 Five in the face. He is the daddy here, and season 4 Five is the creepy uncle.
Original Five is a masterfully crafted, hilarious, unique, intelligent character and i will not let season 4 ruin it for me.
#1 -Klaus

This needs no justification.
What do you think? How far do you agree?

Oshi No Ko Episode 12 Review - Season 2 Is Here
Is it okay for me to review the second season of Oshi no Ko despite me not reviewing the show episodically last year? I have a whole review of the first season, which you can click here. I think itâs okay for me to review it episodically, right? Right?
Oshi no Ko isnât the most perfect show, but I still like it because it gives a lot of insight to the Japanese entertainment industry, even if it doesnât do it all that well. Season 1 showed off a glimpse of the idol industry and even how the acting industry goes. For Season 2, it dives right into another big part of an entertainment industry: stage plays. Given that stage plays are super popular in Japan right now, I think a good dive into what theyâre like is good for those unfamiliar with the industry like me! They have their own production rules and customs, so itâs interesting to see how different the industry is from film acting.
Because theyâre essentially plays, good acting is necessary, hence why up and coming stars of Lala Lai and other rising stars are castedâAqua is casted too! While itâs nice to see them rehearsing for their roles, I wouldâve liked to see them audition for the roles, but I guess Iâm asking for too much.
I think what caught my attention the most is the fact it tells a rather cruel truth about adaptations: they will never be faithful and that sometimes, adaptations are more marketing tactics that promote the original source material. Sometimes, characters or scenes must be sacrificed for time constraints. It sucks because Iâve seen adaptations where they butcher a scene or character so bad. Look at the 90âs Sailor Moon. Iâm sure some manga fans absolutely hate how Ikuhara changed Rei from stoic and wary of men to being boy-crazy and tsundere. Heck, Iâve seen some Demon Slayer fans upset that Zenitsuâs portrayal is very exaggerated compared to how he is written in the manga with some scenes with him and Nezuko getting cut out too. So, I get Akaneâs frustrations with a loose adaptation of the source material. Iâm sure that there are those who want to see their favorite characters be portrayed with how theyâre supposed to be and not a shadow of their former selves. Iâm not surprised that Abiko-sensei wanted to change the entire script because it would hurt to have your babies be butcheredâlike how Kichijouji-sensei suffered from the terrible adaptation of Sweet Today.
Thereâs also an introduction to a lot of new characters in addition to returning cast. Other than Aqua, Kana, Akane, Melt and Kichijouji-sensei, thereâs Taiki Himekawa, the star of Lala Lai, who plays the MC Blade. Thereâs Sakuya who plays the green guy. Thereâs also GOA, a scriptwriter and Kindaichi. To be honest, I hope I can keep up with who is who. Oh, and thereâs Ruby, but she only appears briefly and is not that important right now.
What I like is that the visuals have improved because the episode likes to show off the visuals of the characters that the actors will play. The acting with Taiki and Kana was really good because it shows that acting is important in a stage play and that good actors need to keep up with each other. However, I do feel bad for Akane in the sense that her role doesnât allow her to shine as sheâs a method actor and Princess Sayaâs role is a small one.
I guess my only gripe is the first 3-5 minutes of introducing Tokyo Blade. Was that necessary? I get that the visuals are nice, but all it did was introduce the characters and actors, whom you can see in the middle. Is that a part of stage play culture or is it just Daga Kobo flexing?
The opening visuals are pretty nice! The song may be a bit of a downgrade from YOASOBIâs Idol, but itâs still pretty catchy. I love the visuals from how Aqua and Ruby take off their âmasksâ to reveal their past selves, Goro and Sarina.
Anyways, Iâm excited to see what this arc has to offer! I also hope there will be more Aqua screen time because I am an Aqua fanâI donât care what you think of me. I like Aqua! I want him to find what he needs to in this arc! Other than me gushing over Aqua, I do think this was a good introduction to the Tokyo Blade arc. What are your thoughts on the second season?

What's a character you were super into when you were like 12?
I had to sit and think about this genuinely because a lot of the people I was obsessed with when I was younger were real people? Like Ashley Tisdale, Demi Lovato, Joe Jonas, James Maslow from Big Time Rush, etc. In terms of characters I've got a few from a few different age ranges:
Kid (8-12): Definitely Atreyu from The Neverending Story

This was my favorite movie as a kid and I had a huge crush on Atreyu. I thought he was so cool and adventurous but he had real internal issues of self-worth and when he was on the brink of giving up he had to learn to accept help and he loved his horse and his people so much. I'm still obsessed with The Neverending Story to this day and I have a copy of the book that has a cover with the Auryn on it, like the book Bastian steals from the bookshop. It's one of my prized possessions.
Teen: Warren Peace from Sky High

Once again, I had a big fat crush. I am one of those problematic people who find villains interesting, especially villains that are realistic (like bullies) (đ
đ
đ
I KNOW!!) But LISTEN!! Bullies in fiction are interesting to me because (most of the time hopefully if it's well written) there's a good deconstruction of why they act the way they act and it usually boils down to hurt people hurt people and I find it fascinating IN FICTION. I'm highkey still obsessed with Warren Peace given that I wrote a whole YA MM Contemporary Romance original fiction book inspired heavily by him.
And the last person I could think of being obsessed with as a teen is Kat Stratford from 10 Things I Hate About You BUT!!! specifically the version played by Lindsay Shaw (before she was problematic) in the ABC Family/Freeform TV series adaptation.

I was obsessed with her for so many reasons. I thought she was gorgeous, I loved her style! I loved her HAIR! She's probably the first and only fictional character that I was directly inspired to copy what she wearing. It was like a cross between stylistic punk/goth/skater girl aesthetic. I wasn't hugely attached to the original 10 Things I Hate About You, but I liked this version of Kat better (but I'm biased so take that with a grain of salt). I also had a big fat crush on her love interest in this series as well (so them together I was like đĽľ). We only had this show for one season (and the ending was a cliffhanger that I'm STILL salty about!!!) but I will forever love this show.
#This was actually hard to answer lol I had to sit and think about it for a good minute#I feel like my fictional character obsession didn't really take root until I started getting into fanfiction which was like...around 12-13#Or maybe my memory is shit#this was fun :)#sorry for the shitty picture quality I just put the first ones I could find#neverending story#sky high#10 things I hate about you (freeform)

Season 3 finale! Episode 8!
1.) âWe donât know itâs your kids.â âYes, we do.â We really do, Murray. Theyâre the only kids who do shit in this town.
2.) Jonathan could have been a track star.
3.) They really did not CGI that wound well. I forgot Jonathan reaches into the wound at all though. I just remember El using her powers to rip it out.
4.) And the gangâs all together again!
5.) I love Erica.
6.) I loved the group hug.
7.) STEVEâS HER DADDY NOW. Cute that you think youâd be the one being called Daddy, Steve. Youâre a total bottom. Edit from the future: this isnât me saying only tips are daddies or even only dons are daddies. I just donât think Steve is a daddy because of vibes.
8.) âOh honey, Iâm gonna be fine.â Itâs true. People will riot if Winona Ryderâs character dies, so I think she has plot armor.
9.) Oh, they finally remembered how Hopper actually talks to El.
10.) Here comes douchebag Billy.
11.) This elevator is definitely going slower with the adults in it.
12.) Andddd weâre back to bickering.
13.) Scoooooops Trooooop, do you copy?
14.) Move! That! Car! Oh well, didnât work.
15.) Murrayâs call sign being Bald Eagle is very funny.
16.) El dug through the trash to destroy a can of New Coke. They love to advertise Coke. I mean also they needed a way to say her powers are being on the fritz but they could have done that with the car.
17.) Mind Flayer dead above.
18.) That bitch big.
19.) âI think we make a pretty good team.â Never once did you act like a team, what the fuck are you talking about? And like, it pisses me off because they FUCKING DID WORK TOGETHER WELL IN SEASONS 1 AND 2 WITHOUT BICKERING THIS GODDAMN MUCH.
20.) I forgot these two idiots set up a date for Friday at 7 p.m. at Enzoâs.
21.) A;LDKSFJ;ADKSFLJ I FORGOT THAT THE FUCKING MIND FLAYER CREATURE ANSWERED THE WALKIE TALKIE. THATâS SO FUCKING FUNNY.
22.) Fun Fact, I had to take a break during this episode because I think I discovered that flashing lights while watching tv in the dark is now a migraine trigger for me. Isnât that fun? I took a pill and let my friends blow weed smoke in my face because I am whateverâs a step lower than a lightweight. Iâm a baby weight? THat doesnât make sense. Iâm a lighter weight. Iâm the lightest weight.
23.) The bald eagle has landed.
24.) Machine go off. Alarm go eeeeeeeeee. Monster go grrrrrrrr.
25.) Smiling and nodding works.
25.) 662608004 is not the code.
27.) Nancy WHeeler staring down a car with a gun in her hands, ice in her veins, and my total admiration for her. HELL YEAH STEVE TO THE RESCUE.
28.) Steve definitely has a concussion and both of them (him and Robin) have whiplash.
29.) Susie has a big ass house. Do we talk about how Susie has a big ass house? Sheâs also reading Wizard of Earthsea. I donât actually believe the Duffer Brothers have read that book. I think they just put that in there because they know itâs a nerd book written by women.
30.) Susie is so goddamn cute.
31.) the Iconic Singing from Dustin
32.) I am shocked that Hopper doesnât interrupt to be like WE NEED TO NOT DIE FROM RUSSIANS, PLEASE.
33.) I forgot that the monster is chasing the few people in the car before turning around.
34.) Hopper shooting the ceiling does cross language boundaries.
35.) Oh itâs Arnold from Wish. I hate that bitch.
36.) Do you think it was awkward filming a scene where youâre being carried over Dacreâs shoulder and if you open your eyes, youâre staring straight at his ass?
37.) âDonât be afraid.â I donât think that worked, Billy.
38.) Hell yeah fireworks. Yeah definitely donât watch this show if you have a light sensitivity. BTW, Iâm super mad that I have migraine triggers now. Like thanks Covid. Thanks for ruining big lighting things that I used to love.
39.) I think the Duffers rely too much on a plan never going the way itâs supposed to. Like they do it every single season and at this point itâs like, expected. It is straight up no longer a surprise. Iâm now just constantly looking for how itâs going to fuck up.
40.) Mike and Max definitely have concussions.
41.) This is a sweet scene but I just realized sheâs describing this scene like sheâs trying to get a sketch artist to draw it at first. Like I get it, he got a shit fucking deal. I STILL DO NOT FORGIVE HIM FOR WANTING TO KILL LUCAS. No one made him do that! No one made him nearly kill Steve! Like yes he did a good thing at the end and I think MAYBE with some work people (probably not Lucas or Steve) could have learned to forgive him and maybe he could have earned forgiveness, but dying doesnât actually earn that. Not even dying to protect El and Max.
42.) I do feel bad for Max though.
43.) Why doesnât Hopper even try to move? Also I just realized they did that fade to black to hide him being taken away at the last minute because you donât see him on the walkway before the explosion.
44.) I love how that mega powerful explosion that disintegrates Russians canât touch glass though so Joyce is fine. Iâm telling you, that woman has plot armor.
45.) Max is so sad. Honestly I am shocked sheâs that sad, that fast. Not that itâs wrong for her to react that way, but IDK. I think I just want more representation of that first initial sock of like âI donât know what I feel. This person suckedâ.
46.) I forgot the fucking soldiers show up as soon as everything is already completed. Say what you will about the commies, but they were prompt all season.
47.) Owens showed up to have a disappointed dad face at a red crack int he wall.
48.) Will is getting so tall. I love him and Joyce reuniting. But also poor poor El. For a rare time they actually manage to convey information through acting and not words.
49.) THREE MONTHS LATER. I love that the deaths has Barb and Bob BUT NOT BENNY OR THE MORE THAN HALF DOZEN OTHER PEOPLE WHO FUCKING DIED IN SEASON 1. The show literally forgets who all died.
50.) Steve put his mom down as a reference because sheâs âlike super well-respectedâ.
51.) Steve isnât an idiot, heâs just dyslexic and is bad at answering on the spot. But he definitely has seen all 3 Star Wars movies without being forced. It wasnât actually nerdy to see Star Wars in the 1980s, guys. They were blockbuster hits that everyone and their mother watched.
52.) Byers are leaving Hawkins. Joyce has a terrible history with dating.
53.) I love Max and Lucas singing together.
54.) Okay Mike and Will are gay for each other.
55.) I didnât expect Jonathanâs carpet to be that clean.
56.) Nancy Wheeler is the big spoon.
57.) âA wise man said, weâve got shared trauma.â And I say Nancyâs a comphet lesbian
58.) Elâs hair is so cute.
59.) everyone likes presents
60.) âMike, I love you too.â Wait she says that and according to fanfiction he never says I love you back? What a dumbass. I guess Iâll find out though.
61.) Why are they acting like Hopper needed to be coached to write this letter? Itâs super similar to what he said off the cuff to the radio in season 2.
62.) Millie Bobby Brown is very good at being pretty while crying.
Okay so season 3 is a mixed bag at breakneck pace. Hopperâs characterization is inconsistent as hell. I donât care about Mike/El, tbh. I also think the Duffers donât understand most media, let alone feminist literature enough to make a cogent point about anything. By this time the Russian angle was already super played out and being set in the 80s doesnât make it better, honestly.
Anyway, itâs once again a mediocre season elevated by a good cast but I love Steve and Robin being friends. It has good moments and if theyâd had a better script it could have been great. But that would require smart men. Smart men who donât do a circle jerk because they remember 80s movie references.

People act like the only reason you could dislike the 13th doctor is because you're misogynist. I'll be the first to say I love Jodie Whittaker, but her entire run as the doctor was tainted by Chris Chibnall, who seemingly lacked an understanding of how characters or stories should work.
I used to keep up with the show as it aired, I watched The Doctor Falls and Twice Upon A Time live and was completely engrossed. I was optimistic about series 11 and eager to see what fresh direction the show might go.
I was treated to stories befitting the worst of the classic era. This was some Sixth Doctor level bad writing. I couldn't make it through series 11 at the time of airing. It was only after Chibnall had finished his run and handed the reins back over to RTD that I had the bravery to actually go back and see what he did with the show. I finished Series 11 recently.
The closest to decent episode was It Takes You Away but even that was still a rushed and half-baked mess. Episodes like Kerblam! and Rosa are downright insulting to the viewer, one performs apologetics for Amazon's treatment of its workers using the Doctor as a mouthpiece (the Doctor never considers the managers' complicity in the system and after giving them a stern talking-to trusts them to turn it into a Good⢠megacorporation off-screen... This is after she unnecessarily and brutally murders a revolutionary worker). The season ending on The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos is another half-baked slap in the face, Chibnall trying to pretend he can do series-long arcs just as well as Moffat or Davies, except he absolutely cannot.
Surprisingly, Resolution was actually pretty decent, probably better than any Series 11 episode, not least of which because I can understand the danger, the stakes, and the Doctor gets to actually care about something instead of being written to bumble aimlessly about the entire episode.
Admittedly I've only made it a little bit into Series 12, but that's because it's genuinely difficult to watch. I feel like my intelligence is being insulted at every turn. It feels like Doctor Who for the TikTok generation. Spyfall was a sad, sad excuse for a Doctor Who spy thriller. Half of the setups it gives go genuinely nowhere, dozens of mystery boxes reduced to red herrings, because it turns out it was The Master! He did it all, because... uhm... well... A-AND he convinced these interdimensional beings to help him by, uh... well... he uh... well I guess it doesn't matter! They were helping him in the first place because they wanted to... uh... They wanted... Hmm... Well there was that tech CEO guy! He was super involved, because he wanted to turn humans into hard drives, for uh... Well... He wanted that because... I guess he had a lot of data to store, which would be... Hmm...
Dhawan's Master exemplifies the flattening of every character under Chibnall. All the work Moffat did to add layers of complexity and depth to Missy gets thrown out the window (k, admittedly it does seem Moffat was the one to break that particular toy before Chibnall got to it, but when has "the Master gets killed at the end of the story" ever stopped them from showing up unscathed later on?), Dhawan takes Simm's craziness and cranks it up to 11, now he just laughs maniacally and seems to do completely random things for no particular reason, just if he finds them amusing in the moment. But he also brought back his shrink ray so they can pretend this is more faithful to the classic era. Nevermind that the classic era Master was always a suave Machiavellian mastermind. I'd personally love to see Dhawan do that, but instead he just giggles like a doofus all the time. At least give them romantic tension like Missy/12 or something, jeez!
And then only last night did I finish Orphan 55, which is probably a low point not just for the Chibnall era but for the entire modern run (I won't say it's the worst of the entire show, the classic era has its... moments). It is literally an unfinished episode of television, self-admitted by the production crew, the entire latter half is so sloppily edited that you will actually struggle to follow what is supposed to be happening. They clearly did not get all the shots they needed and had to just toss whatever they had together and pray. My favorite part was their land tank being surrounded by monsters so they flee... by, uh, climbing out the bottom and running away from the tank that is clearly not surrounded by monsters at all. But that's not all, no no, the writing is miserable, nobody talks or acts like a human being, there is zero charisma, none of the subplots matter or leave any emotional impression (the grandma almost made me feel an emotion, until her reaction to hearing her husband was killed is "ugh! how could you?"), the twist can be seen coming from miles away and it's all just so the Doctor can lecture us like a neoliberal politician who wants to sound mad at "the system" without calling any one thing or person out because the system lines their pockets.
I am still going to force myself to finish Series 12 and 13 because I am a fan of this show and that means I must subject myself to as much of it as I can. But watching Orphan 55 is the type of stuff that makes me put the show down for a few weeks. It's the kind of thing that made me stop tuning in live every week.
The saddest part, really, is that the show is still like this, in a lot of ways. Yeah sure Davies came back, but he seems ill-fitted to the modern style of television where you get 8 episodes and ten billion dollars. "Season One"/Series 14 was a hugely mixed bag, with highlights like 73 Yards and Dot & Bubble underscored by flops like Space Babies and the finale that calls you an idiot for following the threads Davies purposefully laid out for you to follow. And he seems to share Chibnall's inability to convey any sense of character or who these people actually are.
Who is the thirteenth Doctor? She's the eleventh Doctor's autism turned up a few notches until she acts genuinely stupid in ways the Doctor usually didn't (well, Moffat had his moments with 11 and 12...). She doesn't have much beyond that, any deeper philosophy must be inferred to have carried over from previous incarnations.
Who is Ryan? Well, he's a black teenager with a contentious relationship with his stepdad. And him being black does matter so we can make sure to only give him black love interests đ. In the first episode we see he has a motive disability and a YouTube channel. Neither of these things come up again. So that's his character.
Who is Graham? Well, he's the step-dad Ryan has a contentious relationship with. His wife died, and that comes up exactly once in It Takes You Away, and then doesn't matter.
Who is Yaz? She got the worst of the bunch. She's a woman... Well, an Indian woman, so she can have a personal connection in Demons of the Punjab, but then her race never matters again. We see she's a cop in the first episode! That never comes up again. So she's just... A woman. Who is there. And as I understand it tries to get kissy-kissy with 13 in the last season. I mean I can't blame her, it's Jodie Whittaker.
And even though I haven't finished Series 12, I know exactly where it's going. The Timeless Child. I used to be much more upset about it, but now I see it for all that it is - a desperate, cloying attempt to claw back some relevancy for the show since its viewership and ratings had been steadily falling for years. A no-holds-barred, "throw the emergency Lore Change lever!" that gives the illusion of being a really big deal while truly having very little impact on the Doctor or her character. What does the Timeless Child really change about the Doctor? On like a core, character level. All it does is shuffle some facts around on a Wikia page.
I just wish 13 had better material to work with. Here's hoping Big Finish can step up and give her some decent stories.
seeing 12th doctor fans trashing 13.... let's all hold hands and be fandom pariahs together... peace and love....

Alternative universes are such a cool concept to me.
Like, imagine there's a universe where Colombus never sailed across the world, or even one where he was just not a shitty person. I wonder how different my life would be sometimes. Or maybe something a lot less impacting.
Maybe one where Ranboo Live or Wilbur Soot never got popular. I probably would have gotten over my DSMP faze a lot quicker than the almost three years it took me. They definitely helped shape my humor, no way I would be the same person.
Or a universe where I was actually born a boy. I think about that one a lot as well. I don't doubt my life would be easier, I don't doubt I would also be a LOT happier.
Maybe in a universe where the Library of Alexandria wasn't burned down, how much more literature would we have? How many more things would we know?
Do you think there's a Universe where there's a place that holds all the universe's secrets? I've thought of that a lot too. I've always pictured it as a ginormous library with bookshelves touching the ceiling to the floor, golden engravings etched along the side, and one of those moving ladders from Beauty and the Beast. There would be an area in the middle of the bookshelves with tables and tables seated next to each other in an infinite amount of rows. Of course, there would be two floors, maybe even a third! I think one of the floors would have a couple of restaurants. I'm picturing a Panera and a Tim Hortons, placed along the sides. Do you have any gx rival shipping fanfic recs?
This ask has been sitting in my inbox for far too long. Prepare to get linked to half the Manjoume/Judai tag on Ao3 (FF.net is impossible to navigate and most of the works there are... questionable?).
I'll try to make this organised in some way...
My absolute favourite on Ao3 is Sour Candy by Aamalysstuff. Chapters: 1 Word count: 23,522 Reasoning: It's just... nice. It captures an aspect of teen romance that I just love- the awkwardness of sharing a room with someone you think you could never get along with just to find yourself wishing to never be apart from said roommate. And they share candy and music- what more can you want?
Moving on, there's Colour Theory by Sophisticated_Adult. Chapters: 1 Word count: 1,850 Reasoning: Well, I am a sucker for soulmate AUs and honestly? This is genius. This is the instance in which the only colours you can see before touching your soulmate are their eye and hair colour. So imagine poor Judai only seeing in greyscale and thinking he doesn't have one at all. Also this author is just great in general, in my humble opinion.
Another soulmate AU! All the King's Men by Souless_Robot. Chapters: 1 Word count: 2,434 Reasoning: Do you like pain? Do you want to see Manjoume suffer? Well, I do. So take the sweet promise of soulmates and flip it on its head by making Haou Manjoume's soulmate, while Judai is happily paired up with Johan. Don't we all love unrequited GX Rivalshipping?
A 2020 special: A Man in Uniform by Draconicmaw. Chapters: 1 Word count: 3,011 Reasoning: Has quarantine made you starved for interaction? Do you love platonic Manjoume-Asuka? Great! This fic has Asuka acting as the best wingman to Manjoume, who is the world's most disastrous bisexual. Judai is the sweaty and buff UPS man.
There's also Jun's (questionable) guide on how to go out with your crush by SheepySeconds. Chapters: 1 Word count: 9,567 Summary: In which Juudai stays at Jun's stupid apartment, keeps on getting injured in increasingly stupid ways, looks at Jun with those stupidly pretty eyes, and is stupidly impossible not to ask out, because Jun never claimed to have good taste or anything.
The last one-shot! parallel. by kaibaboy. Chapters: 1 Word count: 13,754 Summary: judai has never really had a 'special summer memory', and he finds himself wanting nothing more than to be able to understand the feelings of joy and euphoria surrounding the warmest season. manjoume ends up getting roped into his scheme, as always, but he finds himself going on yet another journey with judai â except this time, it doesn't end with them going in circles. this time, they finally meet at the intersection, and summer becomes sweeter than it had ever been before.
On to multi-chapter fics. Now. I haven't finished some of these (and some are even just on my to read list but deserve to be mentioned regardless), so I'll give you a summary instead of my own silly commentary (I also sometimes just don't have much to say ;;;;).
Straying by 111 (Insert). Chapters: 27 Word count: 219,653 Summary: The next time Manjoume saw him, Judai had a head full of spirits and a desperation that almost showed through. (I am recommending this just because a friend said it's good, honestly. I have yet to start reading it...)
Crushed by 111 (Insert). Chapters: 19 Word count: 150,973 Summary: Manjoume Jun should be dead, but he's not. The guard who throws the cell door open shouts a title different than the name running through his head over and over again. "The Supreme King has requested your presence." (Again, if Haou is mentioned, you know you're in for some fun pain.)
Take me home where I belong by space_lace. Chapters: 32 Word count: 43,668 Summary: For as much as Jun knew his brothers hated him, he never would have thought that they would be so willing to kill him. (In case you didn't hate Chosaku and Shouji enough- also, Manjoume struggles to live working as a cashier.)
Soul Reversal by Sophisticated_Adult. Chapters: 12 (Ongoing) Word count: 22,458 Summary: The roleswap AU no one asked for, featuring clueless rich boy Judai and bitter Very Much Not Rich Manjoume. Behold as two idiots with equal social skills just kind of flail around at each other. (This is just a dream come true. I love this author lol.)
Bonus Round! I'm now throwing unfinished stuff and pwp at you. Also two fics I just want you to read.
Saving You Saves Me by Osidiano. Chapters: 15 (Unfinished) Word count: 67,169 Reasoning: You see, this one has Manjoume as an actual believer. The Society of Light was not just brainwashing. The Darkness in Judai is also... strong. There is a lot of violence, but it's just... worth reading. I'm devastated it was never finished. It's honestly so so interesting.
Pentadic by spellcastersjudgement. Chapters: 1 Word count: 7,458 Reasoning: ... Technically it's Misawa centric. It's Misawa watching porn, which just so happens to be a camshow by Judai and Manjoume. It's honestly very fun to read. Misawa is very horny. Manjoume is a victim.
Super Stud by Hambone. Chapters: 1 Word count: 3,708 Reasoning: Manjoume is a people pleaser and he just so happens to encounter a horny fan whose name is Reginald Van Howell III. But Ulri! That isn't GX Rivalshipping!!! Listen. It's funny as fuck and Manjoume has an undying crush on Judai in it. I will die defending this fic. It's not my fault Jun is a hoe.
haven't you people ever heard of using the goddamn door by chancellorxofxtrash. Chapters: 1 Word count: 2,187 Reasoning: When I say that the polyamorous relationship Edo-Manjoume-Judai is amazing, this is what I'm talking about. This fic. It's godly. Nobody can touch this fic and get away with it. I will personally come and murder you Edo style.
The last entry is some shit user pridewhatpride has written. Don't actually read it, it's bad. Anyways, the new work in the series is coming out soon, so... Yeah, no skip this one. Unless you want your eyes to bleed. Bad fic boys. Nothing to see here. The first work is called Playing Rivals, but like... really. Don't.
Please read my shitty drabbles.

btvs season 6 episodes ranked
a lot of people donât like season 6, but it occupies a special place in my heart. imo, even despite the fact that s6 is noticeably shakier than s5, together they represent btvs at its best. i totally understand why some people might not enjoy it, though. there are a few moments that cross a couple lines, and one of themâtaraâs deathâstands out as the biggest fumble in the history of the show. still, apart from those moments, i think the bleaker tone not only works, but also directly leads to a few of the most affecting beats in the series. itâs a good season with a couple of really glaring flaws! iâve ranked its episodes! click through to check out the list!
21. episode 12, âdoublemeat palaceâ: not only is this episode stupid, itâs also dumb.
20. episode 6, âall the wayâ: one of those episodes i found myself struggling to care about. nothing particularly riveting happens in it. sorry dawn for dunking on your big moment in the spotlight.
19. episode 4, âfloodedâ: my main issue with this episode is that the âbuffy needs moneyâ plot doesnât make any sense. so the watchersâ council can pay its myriad employees livable wages but youâre telling me thereâs not like, a stipend or something for The Actual Slayer? dumb. anyway shoutout to giles for being this episodeâs saving grace. i think if giles called me a ârank, arrogant amateurâ iâd die on the spot.
18. episode 5, âlife serialâ: the way the nerd trio is written is like, super grating. it gets a little better as the season goes on; itâs pretty bad here. a lot of the stuff they do in this episode also doesnât make a whole lot of sense. the time loop is a ton of fun though, and the scene where buffy and spike hang out is great too.
17. episode 15, âas you wereâ: get out of here, riley!!! begone from me, vile man!!!
16. episode 19, âseeing redâ: i debated where to rank this one. itâs not so much that itâs a bad episodeâitâs well-written and everythingâitâs just that the content is so uncomfortable. this is like THE episode that gives s6 a bad name i think.
15. episode 14, âolder and far awayâ: in which xander and anya try to set buffy up with a slice of plain white bread with the crusts cut off. the best part is that buffy totally deserves it after setting the tone with riley.
14. episode 11, âgoneâ: a firmly middling episode. the invisible buffy stuff is a lot of fun, though.
13. episode 13, âdead thingsâ: this is where the trio starts to get really interestingâalthough, to be fair, i GUESS all the goofy shit that came before this was necessary too in order to set the tone. buffy asking tara to confirm that she came back wrong is great; the ending scene is an all-time classic.
12. episode 16, âhellâs bellsâ: the whole wedding prep storyline is kind of a slog, but it kicks into gear and actually gets pretty fun in this episode, when all the relatives and demons start showing up. a lot of people donât like the ending of this one, but imo it makes perfect sense for xanderâs character. poor guy.
11. episode 9, âsmashedâ: thereâs a lot of fun stuff in this one. willow slips further into her addiction, and buffy and spike finally fuck. the reveal that spikeâs chip doesnât work for buffy specifically is some big brain shit on the writersâ part.
10. episode 3, âafter lifeâ: the thing about this one is that the haunting stuff starts out so fucking baller and then it gets progressively lamer until, by the end of the episode, buffy is killing a ghost from a haunted house attraction with an axe. i gotta rate it pretty highly for a few scenes though: the apparition of buffy visiting willow and tara, spike seeing buffy again, and buffyâs reveal that she was in heaven.
9. episode 10, âwreckedâ: poor willow :( the most heavy-handed of the heavy-handed metaphor episodes. still kinda hits though, mostly thanks to the strength of the acting.
8. episode 1, âbargaining (part 1)â & episode 2, âbargaining (part 2)â: poor buffy :( the ritual magic stuff is great. willow has never been sexier than when sheâs vomiting up a snake while covered in blood. also, shoutout to the title of these episodes. episode? does this count as one episode or two? well, anyway, âbargainingâ is a really good title.
7. episode 18, âentropyâ: whoof!! rough stuff!! this one is really well-written. the way two plotlines collide and both come to a head because of itâthatâs the good shit.
6. episode 17, ânormal againâ: whoof again!! what is up with the fuckin ending of this one??? itâs so scary. like ok maybe the plot of this one is a little dated, a little ableist, idk. i still think itâs a candidate for scariest episode of btvs.
5. episode 20, âvillainsâ: god dark willow is fucking sexy.
4. episode 8, âtabula rasaâ: this is such a classic. itâs like THE quintessential âspell gone awryâ btvs episode. it also features what is probably the most memorable demon design in the entire series. the emotional beats hit so nice even though they are slightly undercut by taraâs absolute mess of a hairstyle in the final scene. what the fuck were we all thinking in 2001.
3. episode 21, âtwo to goâ: GOD dark willow is fucking sexy.
2. episode 22, âgraveâ: god, what a fucking banger. this oneâs got everything. giles coming back, xander saving willow⌠the scene where giles and buffy laugh about how much everythingâs fucking sucked in his absence. a really excellent season finale. did i mentioned how fucking sexy dark willow is?
1. episode 7, âonce more, with feelingâ: okay, look, listen, i know iâm the most annoying person in the world for giving the musical episode the #1 spot, but iâm willing to die on this hill. this episode is so fucking good. it works on every levelâthe lyrics are clever, the music is good, the gimmick is a genius way to bring every plot thread to a head and put everybodyâs secrets out in the open.

Extremely fascinated by your wag AU tag đ.
thanks bestie so am i.
okay lmao so this isn't an actual fic that'll ever be written but. i was talking to my friend about it who still hasn't finished dts season 3 unfortunately but it means that i've switched around ages and years etc. i promise this has the potential to be a fun and sexy time but there's just s o much background shit that needs to be discussed. tw for mentions of irl deaths etc:
but pierre & charles meeting when they're 5-6 (which is what i think charles actually says irl but someone said it might've been closer to when they were 10-11? regardless.) and charles' dad passes away when they're 9-10, and jules when they're 13-14 and charles quits racing then. (fyi i know that irl jules passed away first)
he thinks about quitting when his dad passes away but keeps going with help from jules. so when the accident etc happens, it's not even like an active decision he ponders. he just knows there's no way he'll race again.
and pierre's been with him throughout everything, his best friend who he can talk to when he can't bear looking at his own family. so he doesn't understand when pierre tells him he's going to keep racing. when charles had told him he was never going to get into a kart ever again, pierre had nodded, grabbed his hand and squeezed it tight. important to note that they're barely teenagers rn so yes charles feels betrayed that pierre isn't feeling the same things he is and isn't choosing the same future for himself etc.
they have a huge fight, lots of crying, lots of dramatic teenage angst. but it ultimately ends with charles shutting pierre out of his life. which is easier said than done when it's your best friend whose family is super close with yours. but it works because pierre is off racing around the world and charles has done all he can to never have to think about that stuff.
so charles goes to school, is doing uni somewhere in europe. studies something generic like business or maybe if i'm feeling suuuuper indulgent i will have him major in environmental studies like moi <3 pointedly does not come to monaco during grand prix weekend or the week before or the week after.
and then anthoine passes away too. (they're 20-21 now)
they see each other again at the funeral but don't talk, they meet up afterwards. pierre breaking down in charles' arms, clutching at his back, telling him he was right. pierre should've quit, he can't do this anymore either. they haven't said a word to each other in 7 years but charles still knows pierre, and knows that this isn't actually what pierre wants. or what he should do. (charles vaguely knows pierre's in f1 but doesn't know he's with redbull, doesn't know redbull's the top team etc)
"you can still do this, you will," charles tells him.
"not without you again."
so then comes the challenge of mending their relationship while still working through the shared trauma, and the Layers of past trauma. and also just the general awkwardness that comes with a friendship breakup/makeup situation you know! they can't just act like nothing happened but would it be easier that way?
they start texting first, then they play fifa or cod together. (sometimes pierre's british friend lewis joins too.)
slowly slowly slowly, they become friends again and then inseparable too. maybe even closer than they were before and charles only now realizes how much he missed pierre. while pierre still can't believe he has charles back now, it's as good as he let himself imagine.
the part i'm unsure about is if i would want pierre's career trajectory to be the same or not. because i think the demotion adds SUCH a painful but interesting aspect to his ~storyline. but ultimately i think maybe he just doesn't get the second seat immediately. spends more years with toro rosso/alpha tauri before getting "called up" (sorry i have no idea what the proper terminology is haha ignore the nba/nhl terms).
he invites charles to his first race in the red bull and charles says no. immediately. pierre's quiet on the other side of the phone, internally thinking he messed this up somehow. he thought things were going well and he takes this as charles doesn't want to see him. but he knows there's a lot more that's stopping charles and he also knows charles will definitely pull back if pierre asks about the other stuff. so he moves right along, asking charles about school, the weather, and tries not to let it show in his voice that he misses his best friend and needs him too.
"i'm going to try to watch," charles says, after pierre's yawned goodnight through the phone and is waiting for him to hang up. because you know pierre's not going to hang up first.
"what?"
"the race. i'm going to try. goodnight!" mentally charles slams the phone shut but really he just smashes at the red button before shoving it under his bed and looking at his hands trying to get answers for what he just did.
his only relief is that he didn't promise pierre he would watch, just that he would try. couldn't even choke out a, "good luck." (insert long paragraph about charles letting pierre down or thinking he has).
he only watches qualifying. pierre p3. already knows on saturday that there's no way he can watch the actual race.
but on sunday when he's supposed to be going over his notes for his climate change science & policy course (yes.... i did it...) he finds himself with his heart in his mouth refreshing formula1 dot com. watches the random names move up and down while keeping his eyes on 10 - gasly. (starts shaking for a second when he sees pierre's name drop until the IN PIT sign comes up across his name. fellas the thing about triggers is-- anyways.)
the scariest part is that by the time he's scrolled through all of red bull's socials to look at pictures of pierre on the podium (he finished p2 sorry i know this truly does not matter), he's forgotten about the race. the anxiety sits small in the back of his throat, his happiness for pierre is bright and loud in front of him. charles sends him a message, asking him to call whenever he can and adds a blue & red heart emoji which feels like a Big Step. but basically pierre calls and acts like nothing has happened since the last time they talked. mentions the breakfast he had in detail as if he didnât get a podium in his first race with red bull. finally with a big team. but charles embarrassingly realizes that maybe his text didn't exactly imply in literally any way whatsoever that he knows the results of the race and was trying to congratulate pierre with this call. charles probably feels so embarrassed at this point but somehow still can't manage to say anything about the race until the next day maybe.
maybe texts pierre, good job. or, you were great. or something about him and not the race. or maybe reposts a picture from red bull but not one of pierre in his car, pointedly. only one of him on the podium. and pierre probably reposts it with the squid emoji and/or my favourite sentence in the world, merci petit calamaro.
charles cries when he reads it.
not to be lazy now but [insert 10k words of them building their friendship. meeting up in monaco with both of their families. meeting in milan or london or paris idk where pierre would live. but he flies charles out. not on a private jet because charles flat out refused lol. not because he's an environmentally conscious king he's just too, embarrassed? overwhelmed? by pierre doing Things Like That for him. even though he wants it lol. like when he graduates he's soooo annoyed that pierre couldn't come celebrate immediately because it was race week. but when he comes home his apartment is filled with flowers (roses, his favourite) and balloons and a giant teddy bear as tall as charles. and he DOES post 12 instagram stories to go with the other 30 from his other friends congratulating him. so yeah charles goes through a lot of personal growth and therapy. to the point where he's watching pierre race again, and waiting for him to invite him to a race again!!! do not even think about actual dates i'm fucking begging you but the one he goes to is monza :))))]
ultimately charles' path to understand/accepting/moving on from, his trauma, happens once he has pierre back in his life. it's also encouraged by pierre, but it's also not entirely because of him. not sure how to word that but yeah. these things are happening at the same time but charles still has to go through them by himself.
pierre takes him on romantic dates all around the world and charles doesn't realize that's what they are. fully in his bestie vibes only mood while pining for pierre in a way he doesn't even quite understand. almost a self deprecating, jeez whoever gets to date pierre is going to be so lucky :/
fanpage on ig: met pierre's alleged bf he's so pretty and sweet, i complimented his shoes and he was so nice. charles reading that: i didnt know he was dating someone :( why wouldn't he tell me :( well at least someone complimented my shoes today :(
pierre doesn't necessarily think they're dating, but he does know charles doesn't quite realize what they're doing so he's just waiting for him to come to terms with it.
not to give this au 10 different subplots but yeah that miscommunication plot becomes our prize for surviving through the first part of this.
but yeah at the last race of the year, that pierre wins because i said so? charles finds him before he goes on to the podium, kisses his helmet. says i love you, i'm so proud of you.
THEN, finally, charles does become pierre's wag. we made it kids. we did it joe.

A List of My OTPs
because it's 11 and I can't sleep.
Enjolras x Grantaire a.k.a. Enjoltaire a.k.a. ExR- Les Mis
How I fell into this I don't remember now. I vaguely remember reading a crackfic of this and then everything just went sideways.
This was also the fandom that helped me realize that I wasn't exactly straight and that it's okay to not be loud about my sexuality, that I can just be.
I think that explains my attachment to this ship, not to mention just the movie's Grantaire (played by George Blagden) also shipped the characters and played his character like how he thought it should be, Grantaire loving and pining after Enjolras without the revolutionary knowing it.
Except in the fan fics, Enjolras returns his feelings and they work it out, even though it's not easy because they're both stubborn as mules. Ah, ultimate fantasy I guess. And the number of great fics here, *whistle*
Also, the Les Amis? Is amazing? Especially in the modern AUs? Like they're great friends? I love this fandom so much! Permets-tu!
Shen Wei x Zhao Yunlan - Guardian / Zhen Hun
C'mon, Zhu Yilong & Bai Yu's performance and emotions? Plus just the fact the fanfic writers of this ship are absolutely amazing? Please, escape from this pairing is impossible!
Best opposites attract trope for me. An academic by day, superhero by night in love with a roguish police chief who has no powers but whose charisma, wit, and heart can get him to toe to toe with the legends.
Also, Professor Shen Wei constantly acting like an innocent civilian and lying badly? Gold!
Loki x Tony Stark a.k.a. FrostIron - Avengers
How did I honestly get to this ship? I really can't remember what started it all. I think it must have been a Loki redemption fic where Tony Stark and Pepper broke up and something something happened. Let me tell you, the writers of this ship have written sagas and ballads of epic and sometimes confusing proportions, and that is why I fell deeper into the pit. I mean, they gotta give justice to two brilliant but chaotic characters, right? Angst. This ship has sooooooooo much angst.
Eiji x Ash - Banana Fish
My god, if you want to keep your heart intact and not be reminded of all that's ugly in the world, DON'T WATCH OR READ BANANA FISH. YOUR HEART WILL NEVER HEAL!
If you're gonna watch/read it anyway, make sure to watch something fluffy and sweet after. There's a reason that people from this fandom go, "If you've seen Banana Fish's ending, then you can handle whatever angsty show you're watching now." ~ or something to that effect. Another thing we like to say in this fandom is, "Other fandoms: Let's write a Mafia AU! Banana Fish fandom: We are the Mafia AU." Yes, all of us in this fandom is dramatic af.
Yuuri x Viktor - Yuuri!!! on Ice
Uh, does this really need an explanation? Aside from the fact that you will surprisingly find a lot of Mafia AUs here because we all know that hiding behind that beautiful face of Viktor Nikiforov is a devil capable of... tearing down your self-confidence, like WTF Viktor, don't make Yuuri cry! Also, their dance together at the end, such beautiful love.
Magnus Bane x Alec Lightwood aka Malec - Shadowhunters
I never read the books and have no plans to in the near future. I just saw a video on Youtube about why Malec is life and now here I am, still reading some Malec fics from time to time.
Some stuff on the show were WTF but overall they were a really good couple who supported each other. Plus, they're a Power Couple.
Erwin x Levi aka Eruri - Attack on Titan / Shingeki no Kyojin
Not to be confused with Ereri, which is Eren x Levi, which I don't generally ship except for that one time when a writer wrote an epic fanfic series with Eren in his mid 20s and Levi in his late 20s/early 30s, reincarnation AU. Boy was that one a surprise. I did not expect that.
Anyway, I'm an Eruri fan through and through. Especially with that promise that Levi made to Erwin. And the reason he gave the serum to Armin. HE DIDN'T DO IT FOR THE KIDS YKNOW. HE DID IT FOR ERWIN. Plus, Levi, Erwin, and Hange are my special trio. Erwin's batch was really amazing.
Also, I really like the fact that the shorter and slighter person is the more badass fighter while the taller, bigger one is the more calculating and strategic one. Rocks the boat of stereotypes and all that. Bonus: how these two met. My god, what a meet-cute! đ
Dani x Jamie aka The Au Pair and the Gardener - The Haunting of Bly Manor
It really is more of a love story than a ghost story. I dunno how to feel about this. I loved these two characters so much and I wished they had a better ending but I wasn't SO surprised because it was a horror series (Like, I was still hoping at the end that they'd be together forever but yknow...). In any case, Jamie was just awesome. And her nickname for Dani? Poppins?! God, what a lover and fighter. She was not afraid to cock a gun in a ghost's face.
... and now for my flexible BROTPs
Merlin x Arthur aka Merthur - BBC Merlin
Yeah, my brain is so chaotic multiple OTPs and BROTPs of the same pairing exist at the same time without clashing with one another or having major identity crises.
I actually really like BROTP Merlin and Arthur and also like reading OTP Merthur.
And when Merlin is paired with Morgana or Freya or sometimes even Gwaine, that's fine with me too. As long as his bromance with Arthur stays intact, because that's what drew me to the show in the first place. Personal preference. I see them as platonic soulmates.
*Shout-out to the Merthur writers though, you kept me sane during my "Post-Merlin Depression," which is actually a term thrown around in the fandom because of that horrid final season (not saying it's a good term but it's what it was called). A lot of amazing fics here, too, both Magic Reveal and Modern AU ones. Full of action and adventure too! I mean, there are boy-band-looking Knights and magic-wielding badasses!
Tim Drake x Conner Kent/Kon-El aka Red Robin x Super Boy - DC Comics
More like flexible otp. I dig Stephanie Brown and Tim Drake BUT I really really also dig Tim Drake and Conner Kent. When they're TimKon, it's like an entirely different entity from TimSteph. Ugh, hard to explain.
I mean, Kon telling Tim, "You'll always be my Robin" and Tim telling Kon, "And you'll always be my clone boy" is the shit. Also when Kon could pick out/recognize Tim's heartbeat. And when Tim nearly went mad scientist trying to bring his bestie back. Like, dudes, wtf. And at the same time, hell yeah.
Liu Kang x Kung Lao aka LiuLao - Mortal Kombat
- I see these two as more like ride or die best friends connected by fate/platonic soulmates. But also like their dynamic is so awesome, cute, sweet, badass, can't-live-without-you vibes.
Basically the same way I feel about Merthur. I like reading both romantic and platonic relationships between these two characters. Like, the LiuLao fan creators peeling off the layers of this relationship and exposing every raw nerve is beautiful.
They love diving into the characters' psyche, emotions, motivations, fears, and doubts and you get really amazed because... Aren't they just characters from a video game, you ask? Well yeah, but MK video game has several interesting storylines and the Mortal Kombat 2021 movie was just the perfect jumpstarter to this beautiful blaze.
I mean, "We swore that if we were to die, it would be together"? Hell no, you're not dropping that on us and not expecting us to create our very own spin-offs and 12-page essays on that shit. That's what we fans do, baby. And also, really, we need a shaolin monks/white lotus spin-off/prequel. We're starving here.
As this ship is the newest one on my list, it's the one I'm looking forward to the most. Not enough fan content, I tell you. Not enough. One of these days, I just might add my own.
But right now, it's past 1 and so I shall attempt to sleep.

(Is this late? Oops. Sorry!)
12: Favourite character to write about this year
Stephanie Brown, easy. She's my spirit animal, so I might be doing a touch of projecting, but I honestly don't care. She's just pure chaos in the best way. Some of my favourite lines that I've written are for her. Such as:
"What's up bitches? I brought donuts!"
"My waffles await!"
"FEAR ME!"
"Welcome to Stephâs Glitter Bomb Palace, Where Snitches get Stitchesâ˘! So donât tell Bruce or Iâll sic Jason on you."
She's also the character I've gotten the most comments on. People really seen to enjoy how I write her!
A close second would be Duke Thomas. Bliss, a fic I wrote for the 2020 Duke Week, was one of my favourites! Or maybe Damian? His dialogue just comes easy to me.
21: Most memorable comment/review
the batfamily exist:
everyone: is,,is that allowed?
On Code Orange (Batfam/Young Justice Crossover)
*Or*
I have wanted to read a DCU/MCU crossover for a VERY long time. This story is such a delight. Your characterisation (and for me an introduction to The Signal) was fascinating in the extreme. I loved the game playing and the fact that I could watch (open-mouthed) as Bruce Wayne enjoyed childlike fun with his children and Alfred(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) was the cherry on top of the icing on top of the cake. I look forward to your updates in a way that you wouldn't believe.
On Batfam/Avengers Crossover
19: Any new fics to start next year
Oh boy. So many. You know what? Here's a list. It'll be good to get these ideas out. Plus, you guys can tell me what you'd rather see first!
Gen/just Batfam
Crack fic based off this piece of dialogue (came from a convo between my sister and I): Tim reached forward and poked Duke's face. "You're right!" He exclaimed. "You really *do* squish like a block of wood!" Duke Centric.
Based on THIS Incorrect Quotes. Talia moves into the Manor because she's sick of Ra's. Featuring a bunch of good mom!Talia.
Based off THIS Incorrect Quotes. Jason runs for President as Red Hood. I have so many ideas! This'll be really fun.
Loosely based on THIS post. It explores Jason and Cassandra's relationship, and how it evolves.
Duke Thomas Big Bang Fic (can't say much, but it'll be great!)
Platonic (need to be certain you understand that. There were some misconceptions w/ my Discord server) Slow Burn between Tim and Damian. At the beginning the absolutely despise each other. But over time they realise their own insecurities, and how they don't actually hate the other. And by the end they fully admit and embrace their being brothers.
Reverse Robins with Damian as the oldest (I made THIS post talking about it a while back. But I've highly revised it.)
Reverse Robins with Duke as the oldest (I wrote THIS fic, but I think I want to change this into a series!)
Cassandra as Batman. Stephanie as Catwoman. Carrie Kelley as Robin.
5 Times Bette Kane was the mastermind behind the batkids' pranks without Bruce's knowledge, and 1 Time her brilliance was brought to light.
5 Times Duke thought that he couldn't possibly get any more siblings and 1 Time he met the cousins (AKA: Duke meets the extended family)
Birdflash
Birdflash in the JL/JLU universe (based off that one hexagon by @novaviis ! Super fun!). The league is inviting potential members to the Watchtower one day. Except Wally wasn't there during the choosing of said members. So he's completely shocked when his husband Nightwing shows up. They have to act like they don't know each other, which basically involves Dick flirting his butt off with Wally, Wally trying desperately to remain professional, Bruce digging in the corner, the rest of the League in varying degrees of disapproval and confusion (at least a couple have seen Wally's wedding ring. So that adds a while 'nother layer).
Young Justice soulmate au. Dick, and eventually everyone else, knows that Wally is his soulmate. Wally is oblivious. Lots of pining and angst in this one. Slow burn to an extent (depends on how long I make it). But definitely a happy fluffy ending in sight!
Batfam Meets Young Justice
THIS fic.
Duke gets yeeted into the YJ universe, and promptly passes out. He wakes up in the Watchtower, and breaks out of the confinement the Team has set up for him. Pulls shenanigans (some unwittingly) and used his powers. The Team and JL are confused, and panicking. Because this guy keeps muttering things about the Batfam. And he has a bat on his chest.
The Team break into some ancient temple after getting info on a new Supervillian plot. They find purple clothed woman draped across a throne. She talks, and they panic, as she knows all their secret identities. The only one who isn't, is Tim. He looks bored. Alternatively: Steph needs Tim's credit card to take his sister out on a date, and absolutely refuses to text.
While the Team is on a mission to stop Lady Shiva, a dimensional portal opens up and spits out a strange Robin (Damian) and what seemed to be a female Batman (Cass as Black Bat). This new dynamic due promptly defeats Lady Shiva and all the goons. The Team is freaked out, and 'apprehends' the dimensional anomalies, bringing them back to the Watchtower. Where the due promptly break and and start chaos. Featuring "Toxic" by Britney Spears. I will not explain why.
The Watchtower gets a sudden emergency message from the Batcave. They accept, to find a stranger calling himself Signal panicking about Robin being missing. They all look at Tim, who ignores them, and says that he doesn't know where Robin is. Some naming shenanigans occur.
(Not sure if this fits here, oh well) Set in Season One, Bruce is tired of Clark's attitude towards Superboy, and adopts the clone himself. Not sure how far this'll go, but at least goes through Dick's time as Robin. (Based on THIS Tumblr post)
(Also iffy on placement) a continuation of one (not sure which? Probably Damian as older) Reverse Robins fics. It's a retelling of Season One of YJ, with Dick as Robin. Nightwing (Damian) feels protective of his brother, and so takes on the role Black Canary had in the show, training the Team. But as time goes on, he ends up being more of a big brother to the group. Cameos from the rest of the Batfam as well! And an Identity Reveal (including finding out Dick and Dami are brothers) at the end!
Batfam Meets the Justice League
Cass takes over being Batman for a bit, because Bruce was an idiot and broke his leg. This happens to line up with when the Justice League reach out to the Dark Knight, in order to extend an invitation to the league. They eventually meet Bruce as Batman, and are confused as to why he is so tall. And male.
Joyfire
Lian accidentally reveals her three parents' relationship by calling Bruce 'grandpa' over dinner.
Museum Heist
THIS fic
Operation: Seduce Nightwing. Based on a post for an ATLA ot3, Wally and Artemis realise silumaneously âHey, we kinda have the hots for Dickâ and decide together to see if he likes them back. Which involves a heck ton of over the top flirting, and shenanigans. The Team is sighing on the sidelines at their idiocy. Dick is internally combusting and thinking âDo they like me back? Iââm not sure.âÂ
5 times Dick and Wally fought over being the middle spoon, and one time Artemis had had enough.
Set in Season 3 (but ignores some canon), Bart is kidnapped by some mad scientist obsessed with the Speed Force. The Team mobilizes, and gets Bart back from the evil base. But when they get there, they find Wally West freed from the Speed Force. He and Artemis reunite, and everyone is happy. They prepare to leave. Then the Pick-up Squad arrive in the bioship, and Dick gets out. Everyone is expecting Dick to give Wally a hug, because hey, he's his best friend! What they weren't expecting was him to run forward and pull the speedster into a passionate kiss. They go back to the Watchtower, and some more stuff happens.
Soulmate AU where the first thing your soulmate says to you after they fall in love with you is tattooed on your body.
Post Season Two Get Together. Starts with Artemis living with Dick as opposed to Will. Might be Slow Burn? (They come pretty close to kissing) Eventually Wally comes back. Arty and Wally are back together. They both live in the same house as Dick, for convenience. Then some more Slow Burn happens. Maybe some Birdflash moments. Arty tells Wally she kinda had a thing for Dick. Wally admits the same. Maybe a touch more Slow Burn. They Eventually get together.
Batlantern
AU where Bruce met Hal back when he first came back to Gotham. Fic goes through how their relationship evolves over the years (up until current time, when Damian is 13). I'm considering a relationship reveal with the Justice League.
Hal's interactions with Bruce's kids.
Green Lantern Corp acting protective of Hal when Bruce comes to Oa. This was an ask that I got, and I'm holding off on writing it till I get as much into on the GL's as possible, as all I know if their characterization comes from that animated series, and Guy Gardener's (Hilarious!) parts on Young Justice.
Marvel
Like 3 different versions of the Peter Parker Field Trip to Stark Tower Trope.
2-part Crossover with the Batfam (they exist in the same universe), where the Avengers go to a Wayne Gala, and interact with the family. The second chapter involves them heading out the next night to try and contact Batman.
THIS fic.

Ducktales Final Four: The Life and Crimes of Scrooge McDuck Review! or The Batman Trial Episode but with Ducks, Sharks, And the Fonz
Hello all you happy people and welcome to the penultimate Ducktales review... for season 3 anyway. I still have most of season 1, all of season 2 (I did cover one but Iâll probably redo it), the tie-in comics, the 87 series, and even then iâll never really be done with ducks between all the scrooge comics and other duck related shows like Darkwing Duck and Quack Pack. But as far as covering the show as it comes out as iâve done for the past year, thatâsâts almost done. Itâs honestly just starting to hit as I type this: this is the second to last episode. After next week while thereâs always fan fiction (And I certainly aim to contribute to that), a possible Darkwing Duck Reboot under frank (though thatâs in doubt) where they could show up, and a movie down the road given what we saw with Phienas and Ferb and the showâs popularity itâs still not the same as getting these well animated, well crafted adventures every week with breaks or the ocasional entire week of them. The show wonât go on, and whatever happens with the property next is a mystery no amount of ducks can solve.Â
So with all that in mind naturally this episode is a breather episode: Itâs not unimportant: like the rest of the season it ties off a lot of loose ends, adds in some stuff we didnât know we wanted, and in general feels necessary like every episode this season. Itâs something I credit the season for immensley: They knew this would probably be it so while they had more stories to tell, they made sure if these were their last, to leave no loose ends. And outside of ones they just never wanted to address in the first place like âWhat happened to Donaldâs parentsâ, âWhy was every trace of Della missing despite Scroogeâs search for her having just endedâ, and âWhat did Della thing of the decades long seperationâ, theyâve tied up pretty much all of them except for FOWL and what Beakly was lying about, and I feel both are about to ducktail into one another int he finale. Could be wrong but I applaud them for tying off almost every loose end and character arc by this episode that isnât related to FOWL in some way. Not every show can do that: She Ra was a masterpiece but still had a few things like Scorpia and Catraâs broken relationship, Hordakâs reformation and Adoraâs Parents just left up in the air due to time constraints, Steven Universe ONLY got to go back and answer a lot of questions because they were lucky enough to get an epilogue mini series, and Star Vs... was not as good as either show by the end and by the finale about 80% of things itâd brought up all had the following answer:
My point is itâs VERY hard, even when you know the end is coming to tie everything up in a neat bow. And I canât know how good the finale be or how satsifying it will be but given how well this seasonâs wrapped everything up so far, iâm betting on immensely. But we can talk about that when it finally comes around next week. For now we have a trial episode to talk about thatâs mostly good.. mostly. See why the mostly under the cut as I discuss and recap the episode with full spoilers. Count it down!
We open in the Mansion, where a bunch of tribble like Fuzzy creatures are running amok. Unsuprisingly, Scrooge bought one for Louie as a pet to teach him responsiblity.. again. And once again he instead turned into a get rich quick scheme, didnât read the manual and now they have an infestation.Â
ONCE AGAIN, Louie is written like heâs barely changed at all in the past three seasons. Anyone whose been following my reviews regularly knows this has been a pet peeve of mine for the entire season. Despite having an ENTIRE arc about Louie growing as a character and learning the human cost of his scheming and to use his angle seeing talentâs wisely, the writers keep writing him as if he learned nothing. I went back to track it and while not as often as it felt I noticed a few things. The first is that it WASNâT like this for the first half of the season. No really. He even learns brand new lessons in The Trickening and Louieâs Eleven. Granted he also exploits his uncle in Louieâs Eleven but thatâs mostly played for laughs.. still not a great bit but not a major part of the episode.Â
So he was fine for the first act of the season... but then for whatever reason from Letâs Get Dangerous onwards (Again I donât count the Christmas episode as both of those are meant to slot in anywhere and chronologically take place before this season for the timeline to make any sense), heâs just...
Heâs utterly insufferable in his small parts of the first half of Letâs Get Dangerous! as he berates Huey for daring to look a gifthorse int he mouse.. even though everytime heâs seemingly got something for nothing or minimal effort itâs backfired and itâs something that seeemd to stick with âThe Richest Duck in the World!â. Heâs fine in Impossibin and alright in split sword as while he clearly hadnât learned lying isnât the best policy we at least got a good story out of it. He then went right back to obnoxious with New Gods on the Block where he, EPISODES AFTER THE SOLEAGEO FISACO again thinks an easy way out is the right way, and has NO guilt over possibly killing a bunch of people with his gold powers and in fact is disapointed he dosenât get to keep a living being turned to gold!. He spents all of Fight for Castle McDuck being a huge dick to Huey AGAIN iwth no lesson, and now has yet another family endagering get rich quick scheme he feels no remorse about.Â
I will admit when Iâm wrong and I DID think it was in way more of the season than I thought. And letâs face it in real life personal issues donât just go away and you can sometimes slide back, iâve done it way too many times and iâm not proud of it. Weâre only human. But this isnât real life, this is cartoon ducks. And cartoon duck wise most character development has stuck or if a bad traitâs come back itâs been in a new way. Webby is still trusting, but knows how the world works now and while idolizing scrooge dosenât think heâs perfect anymore. Huey is no longer a skpetic towards the super natural and hasnât forced a party on anyone. Dewey hasnât craved other peopleâs love or thought he needed to earn his momâs love again. And thatâs just the other kids. They arenât the same people theyw ere going in, neither is Louie. So itâs grating when an episode acts like hâes exactly the same, let alone almost a fifth of the season.
What makes it even worse though is that he had an ENTIRE STORY ARC dedicated to learning some of these lessons already. With the others if one episode were forgotten iâd let it slide as it happens with tv, iâm used to it. Itâs not a great look but it happens. Mistakes happen again weâre all human. But you canât act like an entire arc of a series didnât exist. While they ignore Dellaâs history somehow being hidden for the rest of the show they donât ignore that Dewey spent a whole season looking for her, as he never hides something like that from his brothers again nor do they, and heâs out of them the biggets mamaâs boy. While they did take a while to adress Lena, partly because the episode got pushed back, they didnât act like season 1 never happened and she was still working for her aunt. Della still isnât on the moon and Owlson still isnât working for glomgold. Actions. Have. Consequences. Thatâs the whole point of this episode, but they act like none of it got through to louie and it makes his arc feel like a giant waste in hindsight. This episode even feels like it was SUPPOSED to be in that arc: Louie is back to his season 2 characterization, Scrooge is actively trying to mentor him again.. it just feels really out of place as our second to last episode in that way and drags it down a bit.
Thankfully after Scrooge bars the door, and possibly leaves everyone to their deaths but he presumably has enough faith in the kids, the twins and Beakley to take care of it, he gets a summons to court.. and gets kidnapped. He and Louie are whisked away to a mystic court presided over by a giant statue of justice holding scales, that judges someone based on Karma. Scroogeâs foes have brought him to court, blaming him for being evil and if he looses he looses EVERYTHING. And their proscutor?Â
Sadly not Droopy, maybe next continuity, but searing the same Hannibal-Esque Getup is Doofus Drake to Louieâs horror. As for why heâs like this.. he thought iht was fun. Great gag.Â
After the credits we find out why heâs doing this: Heâs still pissed about Louie taking half his inheritance and giving it to his family, so heâs going to take LOUIEâS inheritance. Itâs.. honestly a great setup: Doofus was already a villian I liked, being a nice weird evil mirror dewey instead of a walking fat joke like last series. So I was glad to both see him pop up one last time to make it a full trilogy of apperances as an angonist and to see him take a step up from his passive roll in the past: in his first two apperances while he was evil and abusive, and still is, his evil was mostly due to his own warped logic, feeling he could put shock collars on and control people and that Louie lying to him was enough to warrant making him into a pinata. Heâs still a bad person mind you: kid or not he ensdlaved his parents, tried to enslave louie and goldie and in general REALLY needs some help empathizing with people. But my point is that before he didnât come after anyone.. so itâs a nice capper to have his final turn as antaognist be him going after our hero.. and at his most dangerous. Before someone wouldâve come for Louie eventually in Doofusâ first apperance and Goldie wouldâve found a way out or Scrooge, despite grumbling about it, wouldâve helped.. if nothing else than to lord having to save her from a 12 year old over her. Here if he wins the family is out on the street and three of their greatest enemies are now infinitely more well funded.Â
So while naturally unnerved by his rival Louie offers to defend Scrooge who denies it despite the fact that Louie is REALLY good with words, and Scrooge, while not bad with them, canât stop shouting and keeps pissing off the baliff, played by my boy Henry Winkler whose done a lot of voice work and also played Fonzie on Happy Days, is currently on the HBO series barry and in general is just a fucking delight. The irony is also not lost on me that heâs not playing a lawyer here despite being one on arrested development.Â
We get our first witness: FLINTHEART GLOMGOLD. Hell. Yes. Itâs nice to see him in his full glory one last time, as I donât know how much heâll be in the finale. Scrooge blows of the Duke Baloney thing, which is fair given that while Scrooge screwed up there, Glomgold still stole money from him right after and then spent his whole life trying to one up him. But Glomgold has a different tale in mind as he stole something else from him: the limelight.Â
It was 1980-something and Glomgold was a bonified celebrity in Duckberg for his hot dogging, grandstanding and treasure hunting loved by all and took Baba Wawa, a nice mix of Barbra Walters and the parody of her on SNL by the late Gilda Radner, to a shark shaped cave to get the gem of the shark god, a ruby tooth at the end of the cave. Naturally Scrooge popped up and easily made his way through and stole the spotlight. As it turns out he wasnât always well loved and it makes sense: he dismises Baba asking him about how disliked he is, and dosenât care and even in the current story, or rather season 1 of it, he dismiseed PR entirely in Jaw$. He was rich enough and enough of a job provider he just didnât see the need for fame or glory, that just came second so itâs logical no one liked him. Fortunes naturally reverse as youâd expect though: Glomgold dashes forward and ends up putting Baba and her camerabird in danger and being Glomgold he irrationally assumes sheâs working for Scrooge and leaves her to die. Scrooge however, after getting the rock, goes out of his way to save her because itâs the right thing to do. He can be selfish at times, and as weâll see monstrously so, but at his core Scrogoe is a good man who will do right when the chips are down. So this leaves Glomgold trapped and Scrogoe getting his good press instead and realizes he likes the attention.Â
As the flashback ends Glomgold fills in the gaps, pointing out he was stuck with the sharks for days, but slowly bonded with them learned from them and they became family, helping him with traps, joining him for thanksgiving and even getting a heart taatoo with a shark on it. Awww. Look I didnât really need to know where Glomgoldâs love of sharks came from, nor that he had some weird tarzan origin story with them.. but my life is 100% better knowing all of this so thank you Frank and Matt. Thank you. Iâm also entirely convinced the two have had this whole part of his backstory ready to go for three seasons and were waiting to use it, along with the other two bits weâre about to get to. This episode as you can tell is also a vingette episode, but one where the wraparound is way more improtant than usual.. but it works given the setting and allows the stories to be as long as they actually need to be, and it addds some nice stakes instead of just having Scroogeâs villians gripe about him.Â
Scrooge protests and the Bailiff puts a clamp on his beak, so he has no choice in the matter when Louie steps up for the defense. Louie also proves that irresponsible he may be.. heâd be a damn good lawyer, as he easily picks things apart, pointing out Glomgold was ALREADY bad by then, Scrooge had no intent to steal the spotlight and Glomgold is currently planting dynamite under his chair, with predictable and hilarious results. So he gets put on the âgoodâ side of the scale. Next witness.
Next up is Ma, and I was delighted that as Iâd hoped and theroized this episode wrapped up one little plot point that while not major, was something I was curious about: Maâs claims Scrooge stole Duckburg from her family. This was also likely the backbone of the episode at one point as Frank pitched a beagle trial episode at one time, but Disney nixed it. Likely the magic stuff was added both to justify it better and to distract Disney Channelâs higher ups because they constantly underestimate what a child will like. It was for the best though as the beagles are just a bit weaker here: While Character Actress Margo Martindale is a delight and was specifically cast for the role, overall it just feels like they ran out of ways to make the beagles a big threat and releigated them to muscle when needed, to the point they only appeared in one episode besides this one this season as with FOWL about, they didnât really need villians of the week and what ones they did use like Glomgold and Mark were far more entertaining villains who needed a coda to their stories. They arenât bad characters, but in a series where their breaking into the bin or mansion wasnât a story the crew was interested in they served no real purpose.Â
So we finally get answers about the whole Deed thing: It was sometime in Maâs childhood, good look guessing when, and the Beagles owned Duckburg having clearly overwhelmed Fort Duckburg at some point in history between Clintonâs defense of it and now, with Grandpa âPaâ Beagle finally making an apperance. In the comics he was basically what Ma is to both series: the scheming brains behind the beagles who showed up on occasion and it was a good idea to use him as the past version of her.Â
Scrooge naturally comes a calling and unsurprisingly Ma was lying: Scrooge offered to buy the place first from Pa, he refused outright, and then when Scrooge showed off the money he was offering, Pa bet the deed for it in an arm wrestling contest. Not only that but as Scrooge finds out as he almost looses, Pa was cheating having a smaller beagle boy operate pull a lever in a device attached to his arm to give pa extra force. Scroooge simply dropped a few coins to distract the guy and claimed victory and the deed.Â
Little Ma is left dejected though and Doofus claims he ruined his life, but Louie steps up, at this poitn Scrooge has learned to reign himself ina nd accepted Louie as his defense without saying anything, a nice subtle bit. He probably realized that while irrepsonsible.. Louie has everything to loose her and no reason to slack off and dosenât even relaly have to lie for his uncle to get him off: heâs simply using his ablitiy to see all the angles to poke holes in their story.Â
Case in point, he orders the âtapeâ to continue and finds Little Ma berating her dad for his failure and forcefully taking control of the family. LIke Glomgold, Scrooge may of cost her something.. but it was something she and her family hadnât earned and they were still on a bad road. Scrooge just made it worse.Â
But suprisingly, its MAGICA, who weâve established is an uncaring monster, who has a story Scrooge genuinely feels bad about. Like the rest she was not a good person: Long ago she and her brother Poe were extorting a villiage, and lording over it as gods, changing the population into goats, toads and other things. The only diffrence from what Magica would do to the blot and presumiibly others later, is that Poe reigned in her manical tend ices, trying to get her to think things through. The goat transformation was so theyâd have milk and at least get something out of it and as to not waste all their slaves. Poe is voiced by Martin Freeman of The Hobbit and Black Panther fame. Great actor, does amazing work here. So like the others Scrooge changed things, and fought someone with bad intentions for his own self. He talked Magica into fighting him with both amulets by playing into her ego and Poe trying to talk her down, and easily deflected her bolt with the dime to turn her into a crow with her own spell. So far itâs just like the other tales in a nice mirror.. itâs what comes next that makes Scrooge into a bad guy too. Not as bad as Magica and Poe.. but sitll not good. Poe dives selflessly in front of the coin.. and shockingly while she cared nothing for Lena.. that wasnât the case for Poe. Magica is truly devastated, desperatly trying to put the amulet back on and begging scrooge for help while he just ignores her and fills up his sack. And while they both deserved it... Scrooge and Louie both recognize he was wrong as the flashback ends with Poe escaping and Magica sitll havenât having found him to this day. And props to Catharine Tate here a she takes a normally hammy terrible person who was wholly unsympathetic and manages to make her painfully human. Â
What makes the act so terrible is not who it happened to, they both desrved it, but Scroogeâs attitude, utterly callous to magicaâs pain with not a drop of sympathy. While she deserved it as did Poe.. heâs not doing this to her as some justice for her crimes, or because she did something horrible to him or any valid reason.. heâs doing it because heâd rather get more of her and poes gold than lift one finger to help someone who had , for all his evil, selflessly sacrificed himself for his sister. For all Poeâs evil and tyranny.. there MIGHT of been a good man in them, in both of them.. and Scrooge couldâve cared less. He shut the door on Magica ever becoming a good person, ever getting her brother back to line his own wallet and to satisfy his own ego. See thatâs the true mark of a hero: how they treat others, even the worst of them. And in his lowest moment Scrooge couldâve cared less about anyone but himself.Â
Scrooge feels bad and Louie does finally get the responsibility thing and this is where things start to go off the rails: he apologizes to Doofus and admits he dosenât want an enteral rivalry and hâes sorry for any pain he caused. The off the rails part is because Doofus is genuinely not a good person, ahs done very bad things and is trying to bankrupt Louie for the crime of âtaking half your fortune after you used it to torment and enslave your own parentsâ. It just.. dosenât play as well as theyâd like. That said I DO like both Louie deciding to bury the hatchet instead of just avoiding him and Doofus showing some nobiity in accepting it. Maybe heâll change.Â
He goes off into the night, and Scrooge genuinely apologizes and accepts repsonsiblity... and hereâs where the plot finishing going off the rails and into someoneâs living room: the bailiff AWARDS THEM SCROOGEâS FORTUNE BECAUSE HE ADMITTED SOME CUPLABLITY AND WAS HUMBLE.Â
This just.. it makes no sense, it will never not baffle me and it hurts my brain> Yes he admitted some wrong doing and apologized for it.. but it was also THROUGHLY proven the other two werenât his fault, and he was simply being a good man which should get him some good. Thankfully the conclusion is a bit better, as Louie points out while they made him, he made you so who made who, who made you... okay iâm getting into the AC/DC of things point is these incidents all shaped Scrooge into a better person. His mistake with Magica. is clearly learned from. Heâs stopping a group of bullies in Maâs story and saving a life without a second thought in the second. He learned to value others, to value family all because THEY showed him what happens when you donât. By seeing the worst person he could be.. he became the best. So the trialâs thrown out his assets are returned, and their teleported out before magica can hit them with lighting. Lesson learned.. well kinda Louie tells scrooge to do it because he got the pet.Â
Final Thoughts for The Life and Crimes of Scrooge McDuck:
Great title aside.. this one is a mess. Itâs not a terrible episode: the flashbacks are genuinely engaging, each one helping flesh out the villians and in Maâs case pulling one last dangling plot thread. Glomgoldâs was just entertaining , clevelry using his 80â˛s origns for an 80â˛s style news special and giving us the origin to his love of sharks that we didnât know we needed., Maâs tied up a loose plot threat with a fun flashback and Magicaâs was genuinely heart wrenching and did the tall task of making us feel for someone that terrible. The wraparound.. was a bit weaker. Doofus was the best part, playing an excellent manipulative bastard lawyer, and being a genuine threat and his walking away peacefully was a nice touch, and Louie having to defend scrooge was great and showed him off better than ever. And Louie did get some moments to shine.. it was just wierldy bookened with him acting terribly AGAIN, in a way he should know better than in an episode where he acts fine for most of it and even then he thinks lying to a judge is a good idea! I know heâs 12 but heâs not this stupid and while as I made very clear iâve seen this shit before, I havenât seen it flip flop in the same episode. Louie deserves better than this.Â
But itâs also in service to a responsiblility aseop that just.. dosenât work as presented. Yes you should take responsiblity for your past, yes you should learn from your mistakes and own up to them, I have, and yes itâs all too easy to slide back> Thatâs all fine.. but him apologizing to Ma, whose family was terorrizing a town, and Glomgold, who he did nothing to, and having Louie apologize to Doofus, who while he tried to exploit him still enslaved his own parents and deserved to loose half his fortune AND loosing half his fortune wasnât even the main thing Louie wanted to do as his main goal was getting BOYD a loving family.. itâs bullshit. Just pure Grade-A bullshit. Why are you booing them their right. Itâs a good idea for a moral but itâs executed so overwhelmingly poorly it bogs down what was otherwise an exceptional episode, into just passable. Itâs just mind numbing and saddening to know the next to last episode wasted so much good ideas on a clumsy moral. Thankfully I have hope the finale will be better, and again at least we got some good out of this one.Â

OKAY. SINCE ANONS SEEM TO BE INTERESTED. HERE IS MY DAWSONâS CREEK 1X01 REVIEW.
@jayciethingsâ IF YOU ARE INTERESTED.
1. I think the opening scene does a good job in establishing the central struggle of the season and it does it in 3 minutes: 1) things need to change and Joey wants them to 2) Dawson doesnât see why anything has to change and doesnât see what Joey is trying to say 3) burgeoning sexuality 4) Joey-Dawson friendship.
2. I also think the Joey-Dawson friendship is also established really well and itâs actually a time where dialogue and action work in tandem. They give a brief history/overview of their friendship: âyouâve been sleeping over since you were 7âł âiâve seen you pick your nose, scratch your buttâ while also showing them watch tv, playfight and ultimately end up sleeping in the same bed, like they did when they were 7.
3. I actually donât find the dialogue as annoying right now.
4. I will forever be angry that they didnât pay to have the original music with their scenes because Dawsonâs Creek is not Dawsonâs Creek without âI Donât Wanna Waitâ.
5. âHe did it again, he grabbed my ass.â âLike you even have one.â Joshuaâs delivery is perfect because itâs resigned and un-offended.
6. âIâm Jen.â âOh right, the granddaughter from New York.â That actually isnât clunky. Itâs a good way to do exposition.
7. âYou look different.â âPuberty.â LOL Joey Whitter sass.
8. Honestly, at least so far, Joeyâs behaviour makes sense for a 15 year old girl who is in love with her best friend who doesnât see her as a sexual being and then has to watch him salivate over The New Girl. No, that isnât Jenâs fault but sometimes people on this site act like teenagers or adults for that matter donât have messy and not-so-great emotions/reactions to things. Unless, apparently, theyâre men who are rapists and serial killers, then the understanding is boundless.
9. Itâs actually refreshing to hear âMr. Leeryâ âMrs. Leeryâ since teens in shows now just call adults by their first names, which I would NEVER do. I still canât do that. If I had to address initiumseriesâ dad it would be Mr...
10. I also think itâs funny that this dialogue is being made fun of but this kind of cadence and irony is the kind of thing shows go for now -- Riverdale tries to emulate this and I would argue Euphoria tries to do an edgier version of this. Like Nellie insulting Pacey, that kind of tone is what theyâre trying to go for with Cheryl.
11. Iâll admit this is more fun than I thought it would be so far.
12. I LOVE WHATâS EDGY FOR THE NINETIES. SHE IS IN A SUNDRESS. SETTLE DOWN.
13. âI have it on pretty good authority that mothers have excellent sex.â LOL Pacey, dick move.
14. Renting The Graduate, how on the nose.
15. THEIR CLOTHES ARE SO 90s.
16. The soundtrack pisses me off so much.
17. Oh Dawson. I knew so many self-important, Iâm-so-deep-I-like-these-kinds-of-movies or -this-kind-of-music boys in high school. Like I find it so typical that he thinks his obsession with Spielberg would interest Jen.
18. Dawson taking Jen to his studio is like Klaus taking Caroline to sees his drawings.
19. Oh man, I remember being a kid and watching these teen shows with my cousin and seeing how Capeside High School was with everyone on a quad and throwing footballs and being like HIGH SCHOOL IS GOING TO BE LIKE THAT and my cousin just being like

20. I like how Dawsonâs Creek is the whitest show and they still managed to have more Black extras than Gilmore Girls.
21. Dawson and Jen actually have a nice chemistry. But everyone is coming on super strong with Jen and sheâs just kind of like, this seems normal.
22. The film teacher is a dick for no reason. Iâve had my fair share of dickish teachers but this is excessive right off the bat.
23. Lol poor Jen, she really is trying with Joey.
24. I like how a status of Joeyâs class is the fact that her sister is engaged to a Black man *eye roll*
25. I donât know of any school where teachers ate in the cafeteria with the students. In my school there were teachers who supervised the cafeteria but thatâs it. Wow, I spent like no time in my high school cafeteria.
26. âIâm having a climax issueâ
27. Tamara, Ms. Jacobs, you should be in jail.
28. I like how this school LOOKS like a school.
29. Ugh, a trans jokes. Ugh, there was so much of that in the 90s.
30. âNothing has to change. We can talk about anything.â Honestly, from a screenwriting point of view, this is a solid pilot. I remember in a screenwriting class I took, we studied The Social Network and every 10 pages someone calls Zuckerberg either an asshole or a jerk or something in that vein as a way to reiterate a key part of the theme of the movie and while I donât have the pilot script in front of me, DC does reiterate the theme of the season frequently without it being repetitive.
31. The dialogue isnât as hyperbolic as I remember tbh. And Iâm going to say it again, shows are aiming for this, even the one episode I saw of the Winx Saga, when they try to flirt about mansplaining, when sheâs fighting with her mom about how sheâs not a feminist, theyâre trying for this. But DC manages to make it more natural and itâs because the Core 4 have a charm. Even if you hate Dawson.
32. Who is Dawsonâs dad. Is he in something else?
33. No, I just think he looks like Dr. Cox.
34. Dawsonâs rant about sex not being important is hilarious. Yes, Dawson, youâre just pursuing Jen out of intellectual and philosophical desire.
35. I like how Joey is supposed to be a tomboy just because sheâs the only girl/woman in Capeside who doesnât wear a sundress.
36. Poor Jen.
37. Joey is super dramatic, I get that, but I kind of love it because Iâm going RELAX but the way I would to a teenager. Like CALM. DOWN. Also âall I do is understandâ is something that we needed to see more of before that argument.
38. Dawson, you never ask anyone else any questions about themselves, lol.
39. âHow can you say you were just renting a movie??â Pacey is such a fifteen year old and I do wish the show would just ... let him be one? And what I mean by that is Pacey is supposed to be the friend with the edge, the fact that he âpursuesâ Ms Jacobs is supposed to attest to that fact, itâs framed as taboo and yet theyâre presented as being on equal footing, even the way her date moves to grab him out of his seat when the fact of the matter is, heâs a kid, and if the show didnât actually make the Tamara/Pacey relationship a storyline and made it about another way teenagers have certain idealized perceptions of relationships or apply kid knowledge to adult situations which still makes them kids, it wouldâve been interesting too.
40. Dawson is literally dressed in different shades of beige. If that doesnât say everything you need to know about his character --- which is intentional. But like jfc man.
41. I love that they canât say âmasturbateâ so she has to say âwalk your dogâ I LOVE THE NINETIES.
42. And you know what, after that question was asked, the sheer heartbreak on Joeyâs face and the sadness in Dawsonâs eyes is done really well.
43. LMAO SO ANGSTY. No one does angst like the 90s.
44. And legitimately, the ending of this pilot is great screenwriting because a change is noted, the beginning of the episode, Joey does end up staying the night, the end of the episode she leaves because they both realize itâs true that things are changing and yet Dawson answers her question about what time of day he masturbates and to who because theyâre still Dawson and Joey. And thatâs the way a pilot should be written.
OK. Iâve done it.

A BRIEF PAUSE
From my regularly scheduled content. Iâve got some shit to say, yâall (forewarning for spicy language and spoilers)
I thought about making this post on my fandom subblog but this show and this relationship have been TOO important to me for the past 8 years to not give it its proper place in my life. strap in bc im not sure how long this mf is about to be.
When i started this DUMB show at age 19 tortured soul âempathâ dark academia me thought sam winchester was going to be my favourite character. and donât @ me, i love sam now in his own right (and we deserve some SAILEEN PEOPLE). but after literally less than 5 episodes i KNEW deanâs character and his arc were going to be amazing and beautiful and he immediately became my favourite brother. The nuances of his character i.e. his shell vs his true self were so evident to me even in the first couple seasons. in my humble opinion, he had the most growth of the two brothers.
They all deserve to be happy, but for whatever FUCKING reason dean has the HARDEST TIME OF ANYONE being happy in this show. I know itâs his character. I know it was written that way. But FFS. Â I kept wondering when they were going to wrap up his emotional arc and stop torturing the poor dude.
then in season 4 they introduced castiel and 1) I thought the new concept of angels as assholes was super cool and 2) I hardcore SIMPED over misha collins (still do). I watched benignly as cas and dean began to form this relationship that seemed pretty special. I started watching the show when it was in its eighth season and I binged the shit out of it for two weeks until I was caught up. By the time I was caught up I was CERTAIN there were some feelings between them and I LOVED it. I am bisexual and I was ECSTATIC for a potential queer relationship between two masculine-portrayed dudes. I went on tumblr to express my newfound theory, only to find out that this was a real THING. âDestielâ was already an idea that had absolutely and intensely BLOSSOMED in the fandom for several seasons already. So many others saw what I saw and saw the potential of emotionally tortured/constipated âdaddyâs blunt instrumentâ dean and the unfeeling daddyâs boy cas âcrack in his chassisâ Winchester being allowed to be happy together. I felt validated and hopeful. For a while.
Then it was season after season of hopefulness for them to be finally happy with each other while still fighting the ills of their world with sam and the other new members of their family that were added along the way, only to constantly have that hope seemingly teased away at the end every single time. By season 11 and the introduction of amara (not bashing, eventually loved her character and her development too) I gave up. I lost hope. I stopped watching the show. I didnât want to keep watching my two favourite characters continuously abused by the story they were thrown into.
I know not everyone likes destiel, not everyone thought it was real. Thatâs chill, idc. Stories are so often meant to be (and sometimes inadvertently) left up to interpretation by the person experiencing and consuming them. Itâs whatâs so amazing about books and shows and movies that are able to make us feel so intensely about them and their characters. And I felt SO strongly about dean and cas. It was honestly really upsetting to me, the way the show was going with their relationship.
A while later season 13 had been going on and I started seeing some things pop up on my dash. Hopeful things. I did a bit of research and accidentally saw THE SCENE from season 12 and I couldnât help myself. I restarted it. I watched the whole thing from the beginning again AND introduced it to my boyfriend I think partially as a way to ensure I wasnât imagining shit (it took him awhile and a lot of me internally screaming during many scenes but by season 9 he was like âuh are they in gay loveâ). Fast forward to me finally catching up as season 14 was starting. I was still hopeful, somehow. And it happened AGAIN. Season 14 and the beginnings of 15 made me so sad. I HATED what they did with their relationship. I HATED the way it ended. I HATED the way dean treated cas and everyone around him. It felt like the show was taking his whole character arc back to day 1. I didnât understand. I kept watching for a couple episodes after the big argument and cas left but the luster was gone and eventually I just stopped.
I love this show. It has meant so much to me as a story. So many of the characters are/were very dear to me. I know itâs a running joke with this show about character deaths and homophobia but the strength of the bond I felt was between cas and dean gave me a lot of hope. But it wasnât enough. I felt betrayed one too many times. And for those of you who kept watching, for whatever reason, I donât hold it against you. Itâs still a beautiful and interesting story without cas and deanâs relationship. But I just personally couldnât do it anymore.
I hadnât planned on watching the rest of season 15 when it came back after pandemic hiatus, at least not for awhile. So imagine my FUCKING surprise when I was doom scrolling through twitter during election week on Thursday and I see supernatural trending right along with election shit.
What.
I couldnât stop myself, I looked and literally SCREAMED and made my boyfriend spill his wine all over our couch. I didnât know exactly what happened as I hadnât seen the episode but APPARENTLY all my emotions and feelings had been at least partially vindicated. So I BOUGHT season 15 so I could finish watching where I had left off. I watched 8 episodes in less than 24hrs (donât judge me thereâs a quarantine) and I LIKED them. And it mightâve been bc I knew what was about to happen in 15 x18 but I really felt like the show was getting STRONGER as it neared its finish.
I was so excited for 15x19. I read so many posts from fellow fans, destiel and antis alike. There really werenât a lot of bad emotions running around. Everyone seemed hopeful and excited like me.
I probably donât need to go over 15x19 emotions but im going to anyway. I was disappointed. I was confused. I was angry. we are in season 15. The last season ever for this show that has had a HUGE following of fans who have loved it, sometimes unconditionally, sometimes even though it wasnât the best (and sometimes less than good). A season and show that had just announced YES. CAS LOVES DEAN. ITS REAL. And I shouldnât have to go over the nuances of why we would expect more after this, with two episodes to go before the show is done forever.
But I will bc im mad af.
Like I said in the beginning. Deanâs character arc has been incredible. His emotional growth â as subtle as it mightâve seemed â has been amazing. And dean has always been an emotional, loving person. he just felt like he wasnât because the world made him feel that way. And thatâs sad, yâall. Dean deserves to realize he DESERVES happiness. And in 15x18, we were finally heading basically directly there. With destiel, yes, but even if youâre anti, what cas said to dean about who he is and why he loves him obviously struck a fucking chord with dean. It obviously changed the way he viewed himself (RE: âthatâs not who I am, thatâs not who we areâ).
But for WHATEVER reason thatâs ALL we got in 15x19. One fucking SENTENCE about dean realizing maybe heâs not just built to kill people. And then jack leaves without a single mention of Eileen or cas or Charlie or literally anyone they ever cared about and dean rode off into the sunset alone with his brother while we watched a fucking FIVE MINUTE MONTAGE that made me want to hurl my own body into the sun they were driving toward. And cas is STILL DEAD.
BUT THEREâS STILL ONE EPISODE LEFT AND FUCK ME IF I HAVENT BEEN PAINTING ON MY CLOWN MAKEUP ALL WEEK. SO WHAT DO I WANT????
ONE: DEAN DESERVES HAPPINESS. REAL HAPPINESS. What the FUCK supernatural??? Wasnât this the whole point of his arc??? And donât get me wrong I REALLY want that happiness to come from Cas and a real spoken relationship of some sort between them bc it also ties in with my second point but tbh just PLEASE let dean be happy. Dean is a loving person and does everything for love as we JUST FOUND OUT. Dean would NOT be happy with everyone heâs ever loved gone for the rest of his life. I just donât believe thatâs fucking true. h elp him pls.
TWO: CAS DESERVES HAPPINESS. I know we got this whole speech about âhappiness isnât in the having itâs simply in beingâ but like. Really. Castiel was supposed to be a throwaway character no one was supposed to care about. But we all cared SO MUCH that he lasted 11 SEASONS longer than intended and became a main character and an integral part of the story. Cas has arguably sacrificed more than anyone on this show. His last act was to sacrifice his life to save the man he loved. He knew where he was going. He knew he was finally going to be able to tell dean he loved him and then immediately be taken by the empty where we know now thanks to season 15 that everyone in there just gets to dream forever about their regrets and sadness. HOW IS THAT FAIR. HOW IS THAT A GOOD ENDING FOR CAS. HOW DO YOU EXPECT ANYONE â CHARACTERS AND FANS ALIKE âTO BE HAPPY ABOUT THAT. Its messed up, supernatural. Yâall KNOW it is and I hope to HIGH HEAVENS this is going to be corrected in 15x20.
THREE:Â give sam Eileen back.Â
Well thatâs all Iâve got in me, folks. Iâm absolutely and intensely dreading Thursday. Im scared and nervous and obviously still angry that this is absolutely going to be the opposite of what they promised â another âgame of thronesâ ending. Some of yâall are giving me hope with your posts about maybe theyâre trying to keep the ending a surprise and maybe cas is coming back and how can they not and why else would they have done the second to last episode like that and I hope yall are right.
Either way, im glad I am not alone with my feelings. Thanks yall for the experience of this fandom and show. Letâs stick together on Thursday, no matter our differences.
PS stop calling jensen ackles a homophobe or ill hex you.Â

The reaction was really interesting. I agreed with a lot of Brightâs point and it was nice to see a different perspective. I really wish they had showed it in the show. You can tell Bright is really attached to Sarawat and it hurts his heart to see the pain. It also showed me that the finale could have been loads better with a few cute scenes and a proper discussion. This is what Bright was talking about. At the end of the day it was the lack of communication.
Ahh I loved that reaction video and I loved seeing Bright talking about Sarawatâs point of view. Iâm sure one of the reasons they bought him was the amount of shit he was getting from some people. This however also showed me what the show lacked. Though I loved 2gether.. most of the time we saw things were Tineâs perspective. It would have really been good to see it from Sarawatâs perspective in the last episode. You can also see Brightâs frustration at times with how they portrayed Sarawat.
I assume you watching the reaction video atm! Let me say this boy gives me heart attacks like how thoughtful he is and wants to explain sarawatâs every move since episode 12 and why he acted the way he acted. I felt like he kept it inside for so long that it needed to be spoken out like when he wanted to see a reaction from PâJennie how he looked away and then right back at her. He was so stressed and on the edge the whole time! How he repeatedly said heâs sorry for Sarawat cause he knows that everyone was sorry for Tine but didnât get to see/understand his side of version. He also zoned out in a couple of scenes like this boy has sooo many emotions and it feels itâs too overwhelming for him(I feel that at least). Iâm so grateful that Bright exists and talk about loving a man and to feel love so freely!! He couldâve said so much in the end but instead it was more like an apology for hurting Tine and how his character works. He understands Sarawat so much. Iâll cry. I didnât thought my opinion would be that long... heâs speaking so enthusiastically about Sarawat and what his character taught him. This boy is really a blessing for the 2gether + lgbt+ community I love him heâs a child like a babie :((
Bright just wants to smooch his co-star but the universe wonât let him.
hiii anons!!! iâm gonna combine all of your asks into one bc weâre all essentially talking about the same thing.
yeah. so. the ep 13 reaction video. lets talk about it.
firstly, i ... it will never cease to astound me just how much bright loves sarawat? he knows him with every fibre of himself. he knows sarawat right down to the tendon and bone of him. like. brightâs taken so much time out to character study sarawat, get into his psyche and mind and heart. and. i hate novel! sarawat, but, brightâs taken that character, and made it his own, completely transforming him. and that takes so much understanding and commitment and passion. truly, we donât deserve bright. we really donât. and i am so thankful we got bright to play sarawat. no body else could have done sarawat better than bright. so much so that like .... they both overlap, bright and sarawat. sometimes its hard to distinguish where sarawat ends and bright begins.
and like some of yall said, i think it was a very clever ... move (?) ... to star bright to react to ep 13, solo, without win. bc, like yall mentioned, and like im gonna dwell on now: 2gether was entirely from tineâs perspective. it reminds me a bit of skam, in that way, that ... ya know even tho iâve watched skam and i should KNOW this, but i still forget just how POWERFUL perspectives are. and how much they influence your way of thinking. i touched upon this after ep 12, but now after watching bright react to the whole of ep 13, like, it comes back to that. we saw everything through tineâs eyes. and so, it felt like, sarawatâs side needed to be justified. but it could never be done on the show bc the show was about tineâs perspective. and the only way it could have been done, is if they both would have talked.
which brings me onto my next point, that bright mentions - the biggest barrier and fault was they both donât know how to talk. i touched upon this just yday actually, how sarawat is someone who doesnât know how to talk, heâs more of a do-er (like bright said), whereas tine is someone who overthinks himself to the point of sickness and anxiety and so he doesnât know how to voice that out, and like bright said, tine is someone who is EXTREMELY obedient - if someone says something to him to do, tine will go along and do that and wonât say no to them. which means that tine himself has had very little experience of going with his gut and how he feels, and when he comes face to face in a situation like that, it becomes Very overwhelming for him.
so, it was really clever to have bright on, solo, to explain everything from his and sarawatâs perspective. especially the bit where bright was like âeverytime someone flirted with tine, wat never once questioned his trust for tine or their love, he would go directly to the person in question and deal with them.â and ... ya know, thatâs more easier for sarawat to do, than it is for tine, who isnât like that at all - like bright said, tine is the more obedient one who just follows along everybody elseâs suggestions and has never really used his agency to decision make for himself.
and so ... yeaah. like. people sent a LOT of verbal abuse to bright after ep 12. and bright even said he knew it would happen, bc the entire series is from tineâs perspective, he understood that from well before. so he says he was prepared, but he still didnât come on social media that often bc he got so much verbal abuse over it.Â
and like, iâve said before, just like how jennie and go said in the reaction video, that we should have got less flashbacks in the finale, and instead, we could have had a more sweeter scene. that could have been and should have been a proper, open and honest conversation between tine and sarawat, or, as bright suggested, a kiss. so, ya know, as some people were saying that maybe bright was just uncomfortable about kissng win??? no. no he wouldnt be AT ALL. it just ... never occured in the script. but yeah. i think .......... it really did get to bright - that sarawat never on the show got a chance to explain.Â
which honestly makes me feel like thats why half the time he would improvise as sarawat? and add in things he KNOWS sarawat would/should do bc he KNOWS the depths of his love for tine so he used those moments so smartly to show that (a sign of v v v good acting!!!). like a marriage proposal, or putting tineâs hand over his shoulder, or adding in cheek kisses. like. brightâs really gone over and beyond for sarawat and tried to show just how intensely in love wat is with tine, with the little space and room for manoeuvre that he got granted.
idk if the some of scripts were written in a rush? i mean, 2gether was the FIRST show from gmmtv to air in 2020 - if iâm correct???? - so, between november to february, the had to get everything shooted and done, but they MUST have started script writing earlier than that. idk ...Â
personally, i do wish we did get some more of the novel scenes in the show. like, sarawat and tine coming out to sarawatâs dad was SUCH a BEAUTIFUL scene in the novel but we never got it on the show. why? bc it was from sarawatâs perspective, not tineâs. another really nice scene, is the cinema scene where they held hands, but on the show we got a different version of it, where instead, they talked about a happy or tragic ending before tine decides to accept being watâs boyfriend and they hug (i like that scene though, purely bc we got to see winâs crying which was !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AMAZING! and the hug was SUPER sweet!).Â
but yeah, it .... idk. seeing bright in that reaction video in some moments Hurt. bc .... there was so much he wanted to say but he kept it in. and heâd just glance and sigh and look down or away bc he GETS sarawat in a way i think nobody else does. and so ..... had the show had more time, or was able to cut out some scenes and replace them with other and rewrite bits, we could have gotten sarawatâs perspective, and not had the show completely butcher sarawatâs image in ep 12 the way they did, only for them to then have less than one episode, a finale no less, to save his face again, whilst also tying up every other plot at the same time.Â
like, bright has SO MUCH to offer as sarawat. and bright says he doesnt know about a season 2 (yet), but, ya know, if we ever got to see tine and sarawat again, i kinda wish they allow bright more freedom - bc he understands his character a lot more better than the writers do, i feel. he gets sarawat on soul deep level. so i just wish theyâd give bright more freedom to be sarawat. and i have no doubt that, if that had been the case, we would have gotten a LOT more physical intimacy between tine and sarawat. iâm not mad about the lack of it, but, iâm assuming that bright would have really made sarawat be a lot more physical with tine. but at the same time, i agree with bright when he said that tine and wat are people who show their affections to one another in private - which is why i am SO ...... upset that we never got to see tine and wat ALONE in the one year later scene, bc, like i said, they WOULD have been a LOT LOT LOT more intimate then. but they werenât alone. so they werenât intimate. which. yeah.Â
but at the same time, ya know, brightâs so .... like. he gets where the hurt for tine stems from. just like how he gets sarawatâs character, he gets tineâs too. but like he said, heâs lived and breathed wat since day one - and so, i think he just really wanted a chance to explain everything from sarawatâs point of view. he really didnât need to apologise at all, and yet he did, on behalf of wat hurting tine.Â
so whilst i know its just said that oh ya know bright should just write the whole of s2, i kinda wish, if we were to get one, that they writers would sit down and LISTEN to bright and win and take some input of theirs in, since, theyâre the ones who KNOW their characters and play them.Â
but yeah, brightâs mind. his intellect. his knowing of sarawat ............. it will never cease to amaze to me just how dedicated he was at an emotional and psychological level to play sarawat.

here is part 2 of my sci fi recs masterlist! again, i couldâve gone on with even more recs but i decided to draw the line here. this set for the most part errs on the darker side, thematically, visually, conceptually etc. i personally find it super thought-provoking and intriguing but thatâs just me. i highly recommend reading the tw under the cut if youâre thinking of watching, especially the matrix and space gothic slides. please view at your discretion <3
part 1/2
If you like WLW (um idk why I only made this slide based on identity; it just kinda happened lmao but I think it works):
Siren: (tw: parent loss, grief, thalassophobia) a mermaid surfaces in a cove town looking for her lost sister. Polyamorous relationship between a man, a black/indigenous woman, and the mermaid!!!! Environmentalism! As a person who has thalassophobia, I didnât find this too hard to watch. There arenât that many underwater scenes, thankfully.
Black Mirror: San Junipero: (tw: grief, but otherwise none that I recall; itâs pretty lighthearted) two women meet in a beach resort in the 80s and fall in love. Interracial wlw!
Orphan Black: (tw: suicide, infertility, rape implication, VB, language, drug use) a woman realizes she is one of several clones and uncovers an elaborate corporate conspiracy. This is one of my personal favorites with great rep of complex women of all ages and bodily autonomy. Several central queer characters and a black male secondary character!
Starfish: (tw: grief, a few jump scares and brief monstrous imagery, blood) after the death of her best friend, a young woman breaks into the deceasedâs apartment and discovers a chain of music tapes that could save the world. Weird, subtle, and experimental. Not to sound like a surfer but you kinda have to allow yourself to be in the vibe. The main character and her friend were definitely a thing imo.
Annihilation: (tw: body horror, VB, disturbing imagery) a team of women scientists explore an anomaly that rapidly mutates genes. There are canonical and coded wlw and multiple (light-skinned) POC in this but the rep is short-lived. I put it on because although it shouldâve been more ambitious with the casting, I think it breaks *some* ground for Hollywood sci fi with the all-woman team and more than one WOC. Wack ending though.
Mad Max: Fury Road: (tw: rape implication, violence) I think everyone knows about this one but: in the apocalypse, a woman breaks 4 younger women out of a harem. A badass car chase across the desert ensues. A bit light on plot/worldbuilding, but sooooo cool-looking and very thematic!!!!
If you liked STRANGER THINGS:
It: (tw: VB) donât actually watch this lmao Iâm serious. Itâs really stupid, and not in a funny way. But I do think Stranger Things was inspired by this story overall. The modern It films are better but theyâre also really kjslsklskls stupid? Stephen King in general is obsolete imo.
The Thing: (tw: VB) an alien that can take the form of others wreaks havoc on a scientific facility in Antarctica. Itâs dark and vibey, but I feel like itâs just Alien in Antarctica with truly terrible special effects tbh?? Others feel differently. Itâs also classified as sci fi/horror, so stay away if youâre easily scared! Not too good on representation.
Super 8: (tw: some language) a group of preteens witnesses an alien-caused train crash as theyâre filming a home movie. Not diverse but I definitely think it inspired a lot of sci fi for the 2010s, ESPECIALLY Stranger Things. Not too scary either!
ET: (tw: itâs been a really long time since I watched so I donât remember but itâs rated PG) I think everyone knows what this is about!
Alien: (tw: VB) truckers in space discover a deadly evolving alien. One of my favorite movies of all time! I love the aesthetic and the mood and worldbuilding so much. Ellen Ripley is one of the first Final Girls in the horror genre. I personally found this more of a sci fi than a horror movie but Iâd say stay away if youâre nervous!!
Terminator: (tw: VB) a deadly android is sent to kill a woman whoâs destined to birth the man who saves the world. Terminator 2 is way better imo because it centers on Sarah rather than the dudes saving her and trying to kill her. But itâs still worth a watch, you know, for the culture.
If you liked CONTAGION:
War of the Worlds: (tw: blood) pretty straightforward aliens come to Earth to take over. Sorry to rec another T*m Cruise movie but I really like the alien design and the apocalypsey feel of this one. Baby Dakota Fanning is in it too!
Falling Skies: (tw: VB, body horror, rape) alien invasion yada yada but the alien lore gets more interesting as it goes on. Itâs kind of cheesy and yeah maybe I did discover it by looking up the iCarly boyfriend (and what about it??) but itâs nice to have on in the downtime. An Asian woman co-stars.
Knowing: (tw: blood) school students unearth a time capsule that contains a sheet from a girl who predicted all the tragic world events between 1959-2009. This is NOT a good movie but itâs SO hilarious to me because of the acting and contrivances. Fun to group-watch!!!!
10 Cloverfield Lane: (tw: VB, emotional abuse) a woman wakes up in a bunker to a captor who tells her that the world has fallen to alien apocalypse. I think this movie elevates the original Cloverfield in pretty much every way. Again, super tense and moody. The conflict revolves around whether or not the captor is being truthful.
Train to Busan: (tw: extreme VB and disturbing imagery) a man and his daughter are on a train when a zombie hops on at the last minute. Itâs Korean with an all-Asian cast; Choi Woo-shik co-stars. I definitely wouldnât watch if youâre scared of blood and gore. Itâs very gross and violent.
12 Monkeys: (tw: ableism, violence) a man from the 2030s is sent back to the 1990s to prevent the plague that will end the world. I think the aesthetics of this are really cool but otherwise itâs not a favorite. But I think it appeals to people who like apocalypse and time travel stuff!
If you liked THE MATRIX:
Strange Days: (tw: rape, sex, nudity, VB, racism, police brutality) memories can be saved to hard-drives and sold on the black market for exorbitant prices. Very problematic and triggering presentation of rape, but young Angela Basset stars and thereâs a condemnation of police brutality thatâs still relevant 20+ years after its release.
Upgrade: (tw: ableism, VB, fridging) a disabled man installs an AI in his spine to help him move and investigate the murder of his wife. The premise is glaringly ableist and I feel weird even recommending it tbh but itâs got great visuals and a few good twists.
Altered Carbon: (tw: VB, weird interracial body switching, uhhh I havenât finished this one IDK) in a society where human bodies are interchangeable, a man wakes up in a new body after 300 years of his mind being dormant. A Latina woman co-stars, two Asian characters in a subplot, a few other POC here and there as well. I think season 2 stars a black man.
eXistenZ: (tw: VB, anti-Asian racism, general weirdness? IDK itâs hard to describe. There are guns made out of bones and weirdly sexual visuals.) after someone tries to assassinate her, a video game designer and her bodyguard must play through her virtual reality game in order to save the only copy of the game.
Minority Report: (tw: VB, eye removal/insertion) all crimes are predicted and criminals reported before they are committed. The main character is preemptively accused of murder. This one is really white but it was one of the first movies that got me into sci fi. Early 2000s Colin Farrell <3.
If you liked WESTWORLD:
Humans: (tw: uncanny valley, objectification) androids are household helpers and public assistants throughout Britain until one day they start developing consciences. It hits a lot of the themes of Westworld without all the unnecessary pretentiousness, âedginess,â and âgrittiness,â and it stars Gemma Chan and Colin Morgan!!
Blade Runner 2049: (^) an android is ordered to find and kill a human/android hybrid. Itâs not without its issues but itâs one of my favorite movies of all time, right up there with Alien. So beautiful, so thematic, so thought-provoking (to me, anyway. I know a lot of people thought it was way too slow).
Ex Machina: (^) a man is invited to a private estate to help test the intelligence of an android. Itâs kind of predictable imo but you know Oscar Isaac and Sonoya Mizuno are in it so we have to stan, and so is Domhnall Gleeson, for the SW fans! I like how isolated and quiet it feels.
I Am Mother: (tw: blood, gaslighting) after an extinction event, a young woman is raised by a lone android in a human repopulation facility until one day a woman knocks. It starts off slow and a bit generic, but Iâm obsessed with the 2nd and 3rd acts of this movie---good acting, dialogue, and fantastic visuals. It has that same isolated feel as Ex Machina with only three characters, all of which are women/woman-coded!!!
If you liked ALIEN (space gothic):
Battlestar Galactica (2004-2008 reboot): (tw: genocide, war, colonization, VB, uncanny valley, rape, infidelity) space opera that follows humanity as it fights the ever-evolving and powerful enemy of their own creation: androids named Cylons. Um? IÂ Â L O V EÂ THIS SHOW SO MUCH and I truly do think itâs everything sci fi should be. There is a really unfortunate Miss Saigon-esque romance plot in season 1 and a lazily-written love triangle involving a black woman in season 3, but otherwise itâs one of my all-time favorites and I highly recommend. Itâll spin your mind and tug your heartstrings for years.
Black Mirror: Men Against Fire: (tw: genocide, war, nudity) soldiers in the near future protect citizens from mutant zombies, but one soldier starts experiencing strange hallucinations in the field. This is such an underrated Black Mirror episode starring a black man. Thereâs brief objectification of a black woman but itâs very anti-military and it has an interesting sterile aesthetic that reminds me of Alien.
High Life: (tw: rape, black holes/space anxiety, very disturbing) prisoners are given the option to join a space expedition and serve as experimental subjects en route to a black hole. Please please stay away if you are triggered by sexual violence of any kind. Thereâs almost no physical violence in this movie but itâs psychologically haunting imo.
The Faculty: (tw; VB, drug use) high schoolers discover their teachers are being possessed by an invading alien race. I LOVE THIS MOVIE LMFAOOOO. The cast is SO wild---Elijah Wood, John Oliver, Usher, Salma Hayek, Josh Hartnett??? And Iâm probably forgetting more. The combination of the cast, the terrible dialogue, and shitty special effects is PEAK comedy imo. But bear in mind itâs bloody!!
Prometheus: (tw: body horror, VB, uncanny valley) a crew of scientists heads on a deep space mission to find the aliens who created the human race. A prequel to Alien, but I kind of view it as its own thing. Despite the plot holes, I love this movie too! It was one of my sci fi gateways and the visuals are stunning. Itâs pretty gory though so if thatâs not your thing stay away.
Life: (tw: extreme VB) a lesser Alien, but it provides all the space gothic tropes (jokey crew, shots of space, really pretty spaceship, everyone dies, creepy alien) with a well-known cast---Gyllenhaal, Reynolds, etc.
The X Files: (tw: a few episodes contain 90s racism, sexism, queerphobia etc but you can skip them) a lot of people have watched this so I barely have to explain, but itâs one of my favorites. Two FBI agents investigate multiple aliens and get involved in government conspiracies along the way. A good gateway!
A Quiet Place: (tw: child loss, VB, tension) I think most people know what this is about too. Alien apocalypse with aliens that hunt by sound. The daughter in the family is deaf, and so is the actress who portrays her. The representation of deafness was critically acclaimed.
